- 0:00Mike Chris Bino joined by Luke mourriy Qurts side coach. Good. What a
- 0:03great complete effort. I know you always seek perfection. There's no perfection in
- 0:08any of these games, but eighty one to fifty three was near perfect.
- 0:12Yeah, I mean we're a static with a win. You know, Marquette's
- 0:15one of the best teams in the country and we have a tremendous amount of
- 0:17respect for them in their program. So we knew that we were going to
- 0:21have to be at our best today and I think we're pretty close to that.
- 0:24You know, you didn't shoot it real well early from three, but
- 0:27you're able to, you know, kind of hang around, get you know,
- 0:29offensively midway through the second first half. The assist number is astounding to
- 0:34me. Twenty four assists on twenty nine baskets. I mean, everybody had
- 0:38a hand in this thing. Yeah, I mean, it's it's what we
- 0:40talk about every single day, you know, it's it's a key component to
- 0:43our offense, is the way that we share the ball and the way that
- 0:45we move off the ball and play selflessly for one another. So it's one
- 0:49of the first things that we talk about when we look at the box score
- 0:51and we look at the numbers, so really proud of the guys. You
- 0:54know, you mentioned it. We didn't make the shots early, but to
- 0:56still be up sixteenth a half despite shooting four for eighteen from three, I
- 0:59thought it was a real product of how aggressive we were on the backboards,
- 1:02did a great job defensively and got a lot of second shots. Yeah,
- 1:04forty five twenty seven on the boards. Obviously that's a number. Yukon is
- 1:08a good rebounding team, but even better today. How important is that night
- 1:12after night to win that category? Huge? I mean, they're not a
- 1:17great rebounding team on either end of the floor, and they actually had six
- 1:19offensive rebounds in the first four minutes of the game. When we went to
- 1:23the media timeout at fifteen forty five or whatever it was, they had six
- 1:26offensive rebounds and then they didn't have another offensive rebound until you know, two
- 1:30thirds of the way through the second half. So we really cleaned up on
- 1:33the defensive glass, which was huge because it felt like they were getting a
- 1:36million second chances early. And then, you know, we really talked about
- 1:38it a lot coming into the game. We thought that could be an area
- 1:41that we could look to exploit and I thought Donovan in particular did a great
- 1:45job on the glass, but we really flew in there and got a lot
- 1:47of second possessions for us. Yeah, Cleanon played well in this game,
- 1:49and you know, when he plays like that, this team can be really
- 1:53I mean obviously really dangerous. Seventeen points, ten rebounds, had a block,
- 1:59had a couple of steam, seven of eight. I mean, he
- 2:00was involved in a lot of stuff. He really was. You know,
- 2:04they switched ball screens one through five, which means that they always have a
- 2:07smaller guy on Klinging when he sets a ball screen, and I thought he
- 2:09did a really good job of dealing with that. That's not an easy thing.
- 2:12They've done it against everybody. They did it against Zach Edie. I
- 2:14mean, they're good at it. But he really did a nice job of
- 2:16ceiling and getting on the glass and playing for position. But just as important
- 2:21as his defense. You know, colek and and Igodar are the best two
- 2:24man ball screen combination in the country. And you know, to hold Colic
- 2:28to to seven points, I know he got a couple of those late and
- 2:30only three assists four turnovers. I thought Donovan and in particular Steffan and Hassan
- 2:35Diiara, who were the two guys that were primarily on Colek, did an
- 2:38excellent job. I thought Hassan played his best game at Yukon. Yeah,
- 2:40I agree with you. Twenty six minutes. He was just with us on
- 2:44the post game. Fourteen points a six assists, five rebounds. I mean,
- 2:46you talk about players coming off the bench some nights, you know,
- 2:51maybe you don't score, some nights, you don't assist, whatever it may
- 2:53be. But he seems to be he's getting to be like Newton. Now
- 2:55he's kind of filling up the little stat sheet here. He gets some assists,
- 3:00get some rebounds, he's starting to score. I mean, he must
- 3:02be trying to copycat Newton in the way he was playing. Well, that's
- 3:05probably a good guy to copycat. But yeah, he did a great job
- 3:07passing the ball tonight. You know, I thought that really stood out for
- 3:09me. The six assists that he had. You know, he had the
- 3:12win bank three, so I think that helped kind of his efforts. But
- 3:15he made two really crucial threes that he that he made all in that and
- 3:19a couple of great passes and really did a nice job defensively with three steals,
- 3:22and he guarded Kolak for probably close to half of the game, maybe
- 3:25a little bit more than that. So really impressed with the job that hosted
- 3:29and Newton and Spencer ten for twenty from them five to thirteen from three,
- 3:32I mean again, Newton eight assists, eight rebounds. Hey, you talk
- 3:37about a guy who gets on the court and just does stuff. That guy.
- 3:39We've been watching him now for two years. It's just a pleasure to
- 3:43watch him. Yeah, for sure, you know, he fills up the
- 3:45statue. You know, he really is productive, got on the glass,
- 3:47you know, three offensive rebounds, you know, got his nose in there
- 3:50and got some second chances for us. I thought through some really nice passes,
- 3:53especially in the second half, you know, made the two big threes
- 3:55which really kind of you know, broke it open even more than it was
- 3:59late in the in the game. So really nice to see him play well.
- 4:01And I thought Cam you know, was really good as well. You
- 4:03know, a couple of defensive miscues, but six rebounds, and shot the
- 4:08ball well and really passed the ball well, got us into offense pretty cleanly.
- 4:11And finally the crowd, I mean, I came in here a couple
- 4:15hours early, and the crowd outside was crazy. I was walking the streets.
- 4:18I thought like we had won a national championship. We did that last
- 4:21year, but now this game maybe the biggest game in this arena in fifteen
- 4:26years. A lot of people were saying, yeah, could have gone.
- 4:28Who knows, it could be pressure or whatever. This team played like like
- 4:31they play every other day. Yeah, no, it was. It was
- 4:33awesome. I give the fans a ton of credit. You know, it
- 4:35was really nice to see when we came in, you know, an hour
- 4:38and a half or an hour and forty minutes before the game, and seeing
- 4:41them starting to fill up outside, and then you know, we look up
- 4:44at the national anthem and it was packed all the way to the top of
- 4:46Section two twenty six. You know, So that was really cool to see.
- 4:48I think they gave an unbelievable amount of energy to our group and really
- 4:51aided in the victory. Yeah, it was a great one, all right,
- 4:54coach. We appreciated Luke Murray with you see an om all let's see
- 4:57what happens there. Yeah, we got to win out there. I think
- 4:59you're right about that, alright, fourteen in a row. We like it
- 5:01all right. That's Luke Murray.
