- 2:27Speaker 4: one of the biggest Christmas parades around in Saint Albans
- 2:30Speaker 4: Saturday afternoon. Our stations will all be there. Hope to
- 2:32Speaker 4: see you there as well here to talk about it.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Patty Swango and Anthony Romeo. Good mornings, folks, Welcome to
- 2:39Speaker 4: the show. Patty will start with.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Morning, how are you.
- 2:41Speaker 4: I am doing fine. And I found out, Patty, that
- 2:45Speaker 4: you and I have something in common. You are your
- 2:48Speaker 4: family is originally from Logan.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Yes, sir, they are.
- 2:51Speaker 4: But you escaped right.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I think my dad and mother escaped before I was born.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Okay, all right, all right, we were talking about that
- 2:58Speaker 4: in the green room. And and Anthony, you know when
- 3:02Speaker 4: Ron Hughes, the Colonel set up the interview with us,
- 3:06Speaker 4: he said it was Tony. You went by Tony, and
- 3:08Speaker 4: I had every Tony Romo reference, ye being a cowboy fan,
- 3:13Speaker 4: every Tony Romo reference that I could. And then I
- 3:16Speaker 4: come in you say you prefer Anthony. So well there
- 3:18Speaker 4: you go.
- 3:19Speaker 6: I'm sorry.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Right, that's all good. It's all good. So let's talk
- 3:22Speaker 4: about the parade, Patty or Anthony, the one of you
- 3:25Speaker 4: want to just step in and give us all the
- 3:26Speaker 4: details and then we'll break it down from there.
- 3:28Speaker 3: All right.
- 3:28Speaker 7: The parade is Saturday, three pm. Lineup is two o'clock.
- 3:34Speaker 7: One most important thing, we are not going down Main Street. Okay,
- 3:39Speaker 7: we have changed the rat Oh well, so if you
- 3:43Speaker 7: go to Main Street to watch the parade, it's not
- 3:46Speaker 7: coming this yeason.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Well, hopefully you'll be able to look over and see
- 3:49Speaker 4: this line of yeah, and.
- 3:51Speaker 7: We are promoting it, and I have someone who's doing
- 3:55Speaker 7: Facebook and letting everyone know. Now if they read it,
- 3:57Speaker 7: I don't know, but that's that's the important thing.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Well, hopefully you know people kind of and I've driven
- 4:03Speaker 4: enough parades in my life to know that people you're
- 4:05Speaker 4: you just follow the people in front of you. So
- 4:07Speaker 4: hopefully nobody decides to go rogue and go down that
- 4:10Speaker 4: way anyway. Why why the change? Was there a reason?
- 4:14Speaker 7: The chamber had an idea and we want to see
- 4:16Speaker 7: if it'll work to take care of some of the.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Lax and spaces in between individuals.
- 4:24Speaker 8: Yeah, there were several lulls in the periods of past
- 4:27Speaker 8: that we're trying to solve. Okay, And by moving it
- 4:30Speaker 8: all the way down sixth Avenue, that's going up the
- 4:33Speaker 8: hill and down Main Street, you know, not doing that
- 4:35Speaker 8: will solve those laws, okay.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Yeah, and that that is an issue in parades sometimes,
- 4:40Speaker 4: and we keep it moving, keep it moving because people
- 4:43Speaker 4: want to pose for pictures and the whole deal. And
- 4:45Speaker 4: that's understandable.
- 4:46Speaker 3: That's that's true.
- 4:47Speaker 7: And then we have a radio station in St. Albans
- 4:51Speaker 7: and he likes to interview the individuals as they go
- 4:54Speaker 7: by his station there.
- 4:56Speaker 3: So it does.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Good old buzz browning.
- 4:59Speaker 7: Yeah, yes, I'm supposed to say hello to you. But
- 5:03Speaker 7: and then they have to climb that hill and that's
- 5:05Speaker 7: and when you're over thirty nine, it's hard to do.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, how would you know about being over thirty nine?
- 5:10Speaker 3: That's exactly right.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Yeah, you wouldn't know anything about that or we're talking
- 5:14Speaker 4: about the Saint August Christmas Parade. So if you're in
- 5:17Speaker 4: the parade lineup, is it what time?
- 5:19Speaker 3: The line you start at two o'clock.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Yeah, And let me tell you, if you've never been
- 5:23Speaker 4: in the parade before, I would urge you to one
- 5:25Speaker 4: hundred percent plan on being there at two because it's
- 5:28Speaker 4: one of the more interesting parades in the way. And
- 5:31Speaker 4: it's not a bad thing, guys, it's just interesting the
- 5:34Speaker 4: way it is because when you're driving like a float
- 5:38Speaker 4: or we're driving station vehicles and we're driving up through there,
- 5:41Speaker 4: and it's like you just got to keep going all
- 5:43Speaker 4: the way to the end through this residential neighborhood to
- 5:45Speaker 4: get where you need to be to then get back
- 5:47Speaker 4: in line again. Yeah, and so allow yourself a little
- 5:51Speaker 4: extra time.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 8: We encourage folks to enter into the parade lineup at
- 5:54Speaker 8: Walnut and Washington in Saint Albans, So that puts you
- 5:57Speaker 8: right in the proper lineup for the parade, so versus
- 6:01Speaker 8: trying to cut in at Park Street and down the Yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 4: So, and people that have been in that parade and
- 6:05Speaker 4: know that. But however, there's always new people that don't
- 6:08Speaker 4: prade for the first time. Approximately, just go back the
- 6:11Speaker 4: last couple of years, how many how many entries have
- 6:14Speaker 4: you had in the parade?
- 6:16Speaker 3: Roughly close to eighty okay, sometimes.
- 6:18Speaker 4: More, looking about the same for this year.
- 6:21Speaker 7: Yes, sir, And we do have a lot of people
- 6:22Speaker 7: who do just show up. They don't know their schedule.
- 6:27Speaker 7: There's some ball tournaments going on and people don't know
- 6:30Speaker 7: if they can come because to video who wins the game.
- 6:33Speaker 7: So that's that's okay. If somebody wants to be in
- 6:36Speaker 7: the parade, we're going to let them be there.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Okay. But if they but it probably would be and
- 6:41Speaker 4: I completely understand what you're saying, Patty, but it probably
- 6:43Speaker 4: would be better if people do know that they let
- 6:45Speaker 4: you know.
- 6:46Speaker 3: They're coming, right, It does help, Yes, that does.
- 6:49Speaker 4: And how do they do that? Where do they need to?
- 6:51Speaker 3: You go to the Saint Elvan's website.
- 6:54Speaker 4: It is am I sensing a joke here, but you
- 6:56Speaker 4: know something.
- 6:57Speaker 3: That's that's just a private.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Well we want to hear.
- 7:01Speaker 8: I'm always on edge when she gives out the website. Okay,
- 7:04Speaker 8: well I just find she has it down.
- 7:06Speaker 6: Pat Now.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Right here we go, no pressure, Patty.
- 7:11Speaker 3: That's right.
- 7:11Speaker 7: It is Saint Albans w v dot com forward slash
- 7:20Speaker 7: Christmas and that will tell you everything that's going on
- 7:23Speaker 7: and where you can register various events.
- 7:26Speaker 4: I want to see you do that three more times.
- 7:27Speaker 3: I can do that.
- 7:28Speaker 4: I know you can. I know you're talking about this.
- 7:30Speaker 3: He's worried. I can see them.
- 7:32Speaker 4: He was sitting there like giving you the eye there.
- 7:34Speaker 4: But you nailed it. You nailed it purposely did. And
- 7:37Speaker 4: one of the great things I like about these parades
- 7:40Speaker 4: like this is, of course everybody loves the parade, and
- 7:42Speaker 4: they love Santa, and they love the bands and all
- 7:44Speaker 4: the stuff that comes with it. But it also puts
- 7:46Speaker 4: a spotlight on the communities as well, and this one
- 7:49Speaker 4: because every parade is different as far as the different
- 7:51Speaker 4: routes or whatever. As you said, now you're not going
- 7:53Speaker 4: down Old Maine this year, but you are, but you're
- 7:56Speaker 4: kind of going around it. But there's a lot of
- 7:58Speaker 4: exciting things going on down there that people while they're
- 8:01Speaker 4: in town. We hope people don't just show up for
- 8:03Speaker 4: the parade and go home. We'd like for them to
- 8:05Speaker 4: visit some of the shops and stuff down there.
- 8:06Speaker 8: There's I mean, you would be amazed at how the
- 8:08Speaker 8: uniqueness in our shops and restaurants in Saint Albans. You
- 8:12Speaker 8: got some good ones, and you know, it's a great
- 8:14Speaker 8: opportunity to you know, explore those shops and restaurants as
- 8:18Speaker 8: you're there for the parade, both this weekend as far
- 8:21Speaker 8: as starting out Friday even into Saturday.
- 8:23Speaker 6: So you know, we welcome that. We welcome you to.
- 8:25Speaker 8: Explore our shops and restaurants and experience St. Albans this weekend,
- 8:29Speaker 8: all right, And.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Again it's I mean, you got so many and I
- 8:33Speaker 4: frequently have the Mayor on, I have other people from
- 8:35Speaker 4: Saying Albans from time to time. It's so many. As
- 8:38Speaker 4: you said, it's a good way to put in Anthony
- 8:40Speaker 4: and some really really nice unique shops down there and
- 8:43Speaker 4: great places to eat. I mean, it's always been a
- 8:46Speaker 4: tradition in years past that the folks from the radio
- 8:50Speaker 4: station always met at the cafe for lunch ahead of time.
- 8:54Speaker 4: But that's not your thing. You got shuckers, you got
- 8:56Speaker 4: the Combee ship, got all these great things down there,
- 8:58Speaker 4: and and a lot of great shots. We want to
- 9:00Speaker 4: encourage people to not not just come for the parade,
- 9:04Speaker 4: but kind of hang around a little bit as well.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Now in years past, Saint Albans has always had their
- 9:08Speaker 4: parade and then Nitro had their parade afterwards. But that's
- 9:11Speaker 4: not the case this year because Nitro's gonna be playing
- 9:14Speaker 4: for the Football Championship. We'll have more than that coming
- 9:16Speaker 4: up a little bit later on. So they have actually
- 9:18Speaker 4: moved their parade to the following week And I say
- 9:21Speaker 4: that because I know there's always a rivalry between the towns,
- 9:24Speaker 4: but you guys work together on a lot of things
- 9:26Speaker 4: as well, and in years past you had to You
- 9:29Speaker 4: did the Saint Albans parade and everybody had to pack
- 9:31Speaker 4: up to go across and get ready for the Nitro parade.
- 9:33Speaker 4: But the Nitro parade is not happening this weekend. It'll
- 9:36Speaker 4: be the following weekend.
- 9:37Speaker 3: That's right. Be sure they understand Nitro's not happening.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Nitro's not happening. I do believe South Charleston is happening.
- 9:42Speaker 3: And they're twelve o'clock.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Yeah, and so you got plenty of time to do.
- 9:46Speaker 7: Both three hours between and that gives you plenty of
- 9:49Speaker 7: time to participate and then pack up, grab a bike
- 9:53Speaker 7: to eat and then come to Saint Albans.
- 9:55Speaker 3: And we do have several that do that.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Yeah, and the weather actually looks pretty good for Sayaturday,
- 10:00Speaker 4: I mean it's it's there's no no, no snow. I
- 10:03Speaker 4: mean a little snow is okay. You just don't want
- 10:04Speaker 4: to snow out, you know. But but but there's no
- 10:08Speaker 4: there's the Saturday is actually going to be the nicest
- 10:10Speaker 4: day we've had in a long time.
- 10:12Speaker 3: It's not going to rain on our parade.
- 10:13Speaker 4: No, no, has it has your parade ever in the
- 10:16Speaker 4: years it's been gone on, guys, has it ever been.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Postponed for one that I know of?
- 10:20Speaker 4: What year was that? Approximately?
- 10:21Speaker 3: You remember when in the past, seven or eight?
- 10:24Speaker 4: Okay, but not this one.
- 10:27Speaker 3: It already going to rain on the parade, all right.
- 10:31Speaker 4: All right, give us all the details again before we
- 10:33Speaker 4: let you go. The lineup and where they need to
- 10:34Speaker 4: be and whatever.
- 10:35Speaker 7: Okay, the lineup starts at two o'clock. Come to Hansford
- 10:42Speaker 7: Center and you come down the corner of Walnut Street
- 10:45Speaker 7: and Washington Avenue like you're going to go downtown and
- 10:50Speaker 7: you were going in the proper direction. And the parade
- 10:54Speaker 7: itself starts at three o'clock. And once it starts, if
- 10:58Speaker 7: you if you're late running and you can get in
- 11:01Speaker 7: white before Santa Claus.
- 11:02Speaker 3: We will not turn anyone away.
- 11:04Speaker 4: All right, sounds good, guys. We appreciate you taking down
- 11:06Speaker 4: to be here.
- 11:06Speaker 7: Go ahead and okay, and and if you have any
- 11:09Speaker 7: questions you can contact us. Check us out on our website.
- 11:13Speaker 7: It is Saint Albans WV dot com forward slash Christmas.
- 11:22Speaker 4: She did it two times in a row, Patty. You're
- 11:26Speaker 4: you're a lady if the parade like, how long have
- 11:28Speaker 4: you been involved in in the parade, Patty?
- 11:30Speaker 7: The first parade I did was when we had the
- 11:33Speaker 7: all class reunion in two thousand, okay. And we started
- 11:38Speaker 7: on at the high school and went downtown all the
- 11:41Speaker 7: way down Canola Terrace, down Park Street, down Sixth Avenue,
- 11:45Speaker 7: and ended on Main Street.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Took us a while to get there.
- 11:49Speaker 7: They were on they were on Main Street, and we
- 11:51Speaker 7: were not off of the high school parking lot.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Okay.
- 11:55Speaker 7: But there was a lot of old people there. They
- 11:57Speaker 7: came to see, to ride in the parade and so forth.
- 12:00Speaker 7: But I've been doing parades twelve for fifteen years, been
- 12:03Speaker 7: involved with him.
- 12:04Speaker 6: She has her own parade corner. Did you know that day?
- 12:06Speaker 8: No to tell me about that, Anthony so so last
- 12:09Speaker 8: sometime this past year, in twenty twenty five, we decided
- 12:12Speaker 8: to dedicate where the parade lineup, you know lineup takes
- 12:16Speaker 8: place as the Parade Lady Corner. So anytime you go
- 12:20Speaker 8: around Saint Francis and Park Street, there's actually a sign
- 12:23Speaker 8: that says, you know, Parade Lady Corner. Okay, dedicated to
- 12:25Speaker 8: Patty Swingo.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Okay, Well that's pretty cool.
- 12:28Speaker 3: It was very very nice of it.
- 12:30Speaker 6: I had no clue it's gonna happen.
- 12:31Speaker 4: I'll look for that on Saturdays. I said, all of
- 12:33Speaker 4: our stations are going to be there. I'll be there
- 12:34Speaker 4: with that guy, Steve Animal from from the Mountain. So
- 12:38Speaker 4: we'll be there, and I think all our other stations
- 12:40Speaker 4: is going to be there as well. We're looking forward
- 12:41Speaker 4: to it. But it's not going down Old Main this year. Correct,
- 12:43Speaker 4: That is correct, it's not going down Old Maine. All right, guys,

- 15:39Speaker 4: I am doing fine. We kind of thought that maybe
- 15:42Speaker 4: we'd be joined by Steve Animal of this morning, but
- 15:45Speaker 4: I don't know where Animal is. But that's not a
- 15:47Speaker 4: bad thing, because when he comes in here, things tend
- 15:50Speaker 4: to get broken and the place has got a really
- 15:52Speaker 4: weird smell when he leaves.
- 15:53Speaker 12: He's a he is a wild animal.
- 15:55Speaker 4: He is he is he is indeed all right, so
- 15:58Speaker 4: we've had this contest uh with with you guys at
- 16:02Speaker 4: Trojan Landing and our sister station of which Animal resides
- 16:05Speaker 4: every morning ninety eight to seven a Mountain wild a
- 16:07Speaker 4: wonderful classic rock where we wanted. It was a high
- 16:10Speaker 4: octane holiday, I think is what we call it, right correct,
- 16:13Speaker 4: Uh with the with Steve Animal and the good folks
- 16:15Speaker 4: at Trojan land we've been signing people up uh to
- 16:18Speaker 4: win one of the machines that's available. Talk about the
- 16:23Speaker 4: contest and how you came up with us.
- 16:25Speaker 12: So you know, we partnered with you guys back in
- 16:28Speaker 12: the summer to give away a motorcycle and that was
- 16:31Speaker 12: a big event. So we gave away a role in
- 16:33Speaker 12: field and it was one of the really legitly one
- 16:40Speaker 12: of the best selling backs in the country. Most role
- 16:42Speaker 12: and field dealers cannot keep these in stock. And uh
- 16:45Speaker 12: it was the four fifty Himalayan. And we get getting
- 16:50Speaker 12: on Christmas and everything, and we just picked these units
- 16:54Speaker 12: up here probably in the summer, and I was like,
- 16:58Speaker 12: why don't we give one of these away a kid like,
- 17:01Speaker 12: you know, let's make somebody's Christmas. And so we got
- 17:05Speaker 12: with h. We got with you guys. You're you know,
- 17:08Speaker 12: the management here and started coming up with a plan,
- 17:11Speaker 12: and so we're giving away anything for ten year olds
- 17:14Speaker 12: and less. So we got two sets of full wheelers
- 17:17Speaker 12: ATVs that you can choose from, or all four dirt bikes,
- 17:22Speaker 12: and so we just want to help make somebody's Christmas
- 17:24Speaker 12: this year.
- 17:25Speaker 4: And you've been Chris, Animal's been registering people on the air,
- 17:28Speaker 4: and then you've also been registering people in store. What's
- 17:31Speaker 4: the response been. I mean, I know what because you
- 17:34Speaker 4: know when I when I talk to Animal and I
- 17:35Speaker 4: listened to him on against my better judgment, when I
- 17:38Speaker 4: listen to him in the morning, I hear him talking
- 17:40Speaker 4: about it. But the response I know on the phone
- 17:42Speaker 4: lines has been really good. What's the response been like
- 17:44Speaker 4: in store?
- 17:45Speaker 12: Very well. I think that I think we'll have more
- 17:50Speaker 12: people than like my staff is anticipating, because daily people
- 17:56Speaker 12: are stopping in multiple times a day to sign up,
- 17:58Speaker 12: and then even yesterday, even though it's closed, we still
- 18:02Speaker 12: have more people stopping in. I don't know if we'll
- 18:04Speaker 12: have quite the three hundred people that are coming that
- 18:10Speaker 12: came out for the four fifty, but the uh I
- 18:13Speaker 12: think will be I think we'll be surprised there. I
- 18:16Speaker 12: think a lot of people are looking for that good
- 18:18Speaker 12: Christmas gill.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Okay, and now we do want to tell people that
- 18:21Speaker 4: an animal has has made an appearance. Now everything come out,
- 18:24Speaker 4: okay in there, because I know where you were. Uh
- 18:29Speaker 4: my gosh, that's Steve Animal who knows how to make
- 18:32Speaker 4: an appearance an entry. Thank you for getting the memo
- 18:35Speaker 4: being here on time.
- 18:36Speaker 12: It's I have my phone. No what are you sure?
- 18:41Speaker 4: No, no, no, I mean no, no, no, nine twenty yeah, no,
- 18:48Speaker 4: nine thirty.
- 18:51Speaker 12: So you're just gonna split the days. Okay, so you're
- 18:53Speaker 12: five minutes earlier I said.
- 18:55Speaker 4: I think I said nine thirty ish is what I said.
- 18:58Speaker 4: But anyway, we're here. We talking about the contest. Sean
- 19:01Speaker 4: Harbon here is here from a from Trojan Land. Yes,
- 19:03Speaker 4: we'll be hanging out together. But Friday, oh Saturday. You
- 19:09Speaker 4: got the day wrong, man.
- 19:10Speaker 12: I'm I think I'm going to be on air with
- 19:12Speaker 12: you tomorrow, so we'll be hanging to take over.
- 19:14Speaker 4: Well, you're just coming to take over this thing, all right.
- 19:16Speaker 4: So we were talking about regising people, but but you
- 19:19Speaker 4: you've been regising people on air, You been registering people,
- 19:22Speaker 4: just like with the last contest. You do have to
- 19:24Speaker 4: be present to win.
- 19:24Speaker 12: You did, and so.
- 19:26Speaker 4: I would get there. You guys got a great, great
- 19:28Speaker 4: big space and give us the address.
- 19:30Speaker 12: Fourteen fourteen the Corkor Avenue south West.
- 19:32Speaker 4: All right, so you got a big space. However, you
- 19:34Speaker 4: probably want to get there, you know a little bit early, yeah,
- 19:38Speaker 4: because you know, to get in and get a good
- 19:39Speaker 4: place registered. And we are going to allow people to register,
- 19:42Speaker 4: as I said that day as well, right by.
- 19:45Speaker 13: The Patrick Street bridge. I talked to my friends over tutors.
- 19:48Speaker 13: I think they're going to hook us up with some
- 19:49Speaker 13: biscuits and and stuff for breakfast too on Saturday morning.
- 19:53Speaker 13: So I'll swing by and get that and yeah, we
- 19:56Speaker 13: we won't have a great time, and I have I'll
- 19:59Speaker 13: have another quality fire I'll get on the air tomorrow morning.
- 20:01Speaker 12: Okay, man, and then two once you know, and we
- 20:04Speaker 12: give it away to one. But you know, for those
- 20:06Speaker 12: who don't win, you know, we we have plenty available
- 20:10Speaker 12: to purchase even if you don't win. So you know,
- 20:12Speaker 12: we making sure everybody's ready to go.
- 20:15Speaker 5: All right.
- 20:15Speaker 4: So you draw one name out, okay, and that person
- 20:18Speaker 4: the winner. How does it work for them? Congratulations John Smith,
- 20:21Speaker 4: You're the winner. Then what Steve Animal if you want.
- 20:24Speaker 12: Steve, congratulations. So they they'll pick out what unit they
- 20:29Speaker 12: want out of those basically six qualifying units, the two
- 20:33Speaker 12: ATVs and the four dirt bikes, and then they pick
- 20:36Speaker 12: out the color they want and we'll build it, get
- 20:39Speaker 12: it ready for him, and it's theirs.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, we pay all the stuff when you say
- 20:43Speaker 4: you build it.
- 20:44Speaker 12: Yeah, because it's the most of them, because we have
- 20:46Speaker 12: over seventy of them in stock right now of the Donagos.
- 20:50Speaker 12: So depending on what color they want, it might not
- 20:54Speaker 12: be built yet, so we'll have to build it and
- 20:56Speaker 12: get it ready for him.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Well I was going to ask you, whoever the winter is,
- 21:00Speaker 4: will will it be done in time for Christmas?
- 21:03Speaker 12: Oh yeah yeah, yeah. It only takes us an hour
- 21:07Speaker 12: get everything. Yeah, so they'll be able to take it
- 21:09Speaker 12: that day. Yeah yeah, the likely yeah, more likely.
- 21:11Speaker 4: And talk about the brands again, because that's one of
- 21:13Speaker 4: the things that's interesting to me with Trojan Landing when
- 21:15Speaker 4: we gave away the bike last summer, is that you
- 21:17Speaker 4: have some brands that are high quality brands, but many
- 21:19Speaker 4: of them may may not be as well known in
- 21:23Speaker 4: this area. But there's some of the top names out there.
- 21:25Speaker 12: Yeah, So I mean Obviously, our biggest brand on the
- 21:28Speaker 12: power sports side is Suzuki, so we do you know,
- 21:31Speaker 12: we're really proud of them and everything. But we do
- 21:36Speaker 12: have seventeen brands we carry now, so I mean it's
- 21:39Speaker 12: a lot of stuff. The biggest thing going right now
- 21:42Speaker 12: that people don't know about is our electric brand because
- 21:45Speaker 12: the Emoto stuff is absolutely flying out of the store
- 21:49Speaker 12: for those who do know. But it's Zero, which is
- 21:52Speaker 12: an American based company, and then Raar, which is another
- 21:56Speaker 12: American based company. So we have been really selling those
- 22:01Speaker 12: Emotos because you know, you're not making the old lady
- 22:04Speaker 12: mad in the neighborhood when you're out there on your
- 22:06Speaker 12: bike now with that two stroke, you know that's gone.
- 22:09Speaker 12: You're out there silent, and so a lot of kids
- 22:13Speaker 12: are happy sneak out. But yeah, Rule Infield Bonelli. I mean,
- 22:18Speaker 12: those are two of the three oldest brands in the
- 22:20Speaker 12: world roll in Fields, older than the the HD place.
- 22:26Speaker 12: So I've been around since nineteen oh one. This is
- 22:29Speaker 12: one hundred and twenty five years of rural infield and
- 22:32Speaker 12: you know, most of us their own Rule in Fields
- 22:34Speaker 12: and they're they're really good products. I mean, they really are.
- 22:38Speaker 12: For the money, you just can't beat it. You know,
- 22:40Speaker 12: my birthday's coming up Thursday.
- 22:41Speaker 4: If you'd like to hook a brother up. Yeah, you
- 22:43Speaker 4: do have a birthday coming up next Thursday. Yeah, okay, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Just last year you had a birthday.
- 22:51Speaker 12: Man, you're brilliant.
- 22:52Speaker 4: It's the day. It is brought to you. Admired by
- 22:56Speaker 4: Love Healthy West Virginia presented by w WU Madison, a
- 22:58Speaker 4: podcast promoting healthier lifestyle is to be on the State
- 23:01Speaker 4: check have latest episodes at wv metronews dot com under
- 23:04Speaker 4: the podcast. Man, you talked to Sean Harman from a
- 23:07Speaker 4: Trojan landing. And we do want to tell people as
- 23:10Speaker 4: as well that when you come in to your place,
- 23:14Speaker 4: there's a whole lot of Chris. I mean, we want
- 23:16Speaker 4: people to purchase things for Christmas. However, if it's if
- 23:19Speaker 4: it's not a machine that they want to purchase, you've
- 23:20Speaker 4: got a lot of other you know, things they can
- 23:22Speaker 4: get up parel and stuff.
- 23:23Speaker 12: Talking about Yes, yeah, so we have right now, like
- 23:26Speaker 12: even for the for the kids, Like if you're looking
- 23:28Speaker 12: for this to Nago and you're doing that there we
- 23:31Speaker 12: have one hundred and sixty dollars kids that come with
- 23:34Speaker 12: chest protectors are elbow protectors, knee protectors, a neck pad.
- 23:39Speaker 12: They generally run you about two hundred and seventy two
- 23:41Speaker 12: hundred and eighty bucks. I know, yeah, helmets, I mean, gloves, shirts,
- 23:47Speaker 12: We got all kinds of stuff and it's get outfitted
- 23:50Speaker 12: pretty serious. The only thing we don't have yet is
- 23:52Speaker 12: the kids' boots because that's just so hard to size.
- 23:56Speaker 13: Everybody have a pair of moon boots from nineteen seventy eight.
- 23:59Speaker 13: My I could donate those.
- 24:02Speaker 4: It sounds like some of the random Craft prize clause
- 24:04Speaker 4: that they do. So we want to, you know, just
- 24:08Speaker 4: urge everybody to come on out there. And as I said,
- 24:10Speaker 4: and I was talking to the folks earlier about the
- 24:11Speaker 4: Saint August Christmas Parade, the weather is actually going to
- 24:13Speaker 4: be pretty good on Saturday. It's gonna be cold, but
- 24:15Speaker 4: I mean it's December, yeah, but we're not gonna be
- 24:18Speaker 4: dealing on Saturday with snow or rain or anything like that.
- 24:20Speaker 4: It looks like right now. So it's gonna be a
- 24:22Speaker 4: good day to come on out and and uh, and
- 24:24Speaker 4: it's always fun when we do these events because again
- 24:27Speaker 4: it's kind of an all hands on deck. We're all
- 24:29Speaker 4: going to be there and we're looking forward to it.
- 24:31Speaker 4: It's a good time.
- 24:32Speaker 12: We usually participate in the Saint Albans Christmas Parade, but
- 24:35Speaker 12: when the scheduling conflicts and everything started happening and this
- 24:39Speaker 12: day came up. We're still going to be in the
- 24:41Speaker 12: South Charleston Christmas Parade this weekend. We just can't do
- 24:44Speaker 12: the Saint Albans once too, so unfortunately.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Well, and you have you know, the thing about it
- 24:49Speaker 4: is is that you have these parades, and you know
- 24:52Speaker 4: it's South Charleston and most of our stations are going
- 24:55Speaker 4: to be in that one. We won't be because we'll
- 24:57Speaker 4: be hanging out with you. But after we up here
- 25:00Speaker 4: then we're going to go to the St. Albans Christmas Brey.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Do you want to remind people again, because Joe Stevens
- 25:04Speaker 4: asked me to remind them this that the Nitro Christmas
- 25:06Speaker 4: Bread is not going to be this week because Nitro's
- 25:08Speaker 4: playing for a state championship, so they've moved there. They
- 25:11Speaker 4: moved theirs to next week.
- 25:13Speaker 12: I like that I can actually visit these state championship
- 25:16Speaker 12: games now.
- 25:16Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, and now you can do it.
- 25:19Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Well, we'll talk about that coming up a little bit
- 25:20Speaker 4: later on as well. All right, so again you'll you're
- 25:24Speaker 4: gonna register Steve one more person on the air tomorrow
- 25:27Speaker 4: on ninety eight seven A.
- 25:28Speaker 13: Mounth Yes, I am one one final chance and then
- 25:31Speaker 13: I do understand between eleven and noon we will get
- 25:35Speaker 13: maybe two more qualifiers from those that show up, and
- 25:38Speaker 13: then that'll be it.
- 25:39Speaker 12: From a at Saturday at our place.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Yes, okay, yeah, yeah, so be there be there is
- 25:46Speaker 4: Heather going to be doing any cooking.
- 25:48Speaker 12: No, no, no cooking. She is she shut it down.
- 25:53Speaker 12: She locked her for the season. Season.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, guys, it's all having a trojan landing again.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Eleven o'clock is when we'll start get there a little
- 26:03Speaker 4: bit early, and we have have we notified that the
- 26:06Speaker 4: finalist that we have. How does that work? Thank god
- 26:08Speaker 4: we have Tracy at the front.
- 26:09Speaker 13: Yes, she's been calling, texting and just getting i know,
- 26:13Speaker 13: sending out some emails too. So looking like we should
- 26:16Speaker 13: have a good crowd.
- 26:17Speaker 12: She gasped at me when I walked in again. She
- 26:19Speaker 12: was just like, you're the.
- 26:21Speaker 4: One that calls it on this, You're you're the one
- 26:23Speaker 4: causing me grief.
- 26:24Speaker 12: I was like, that's that's Sean's fault.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Yeah, blame Sean sales weasel. He's not here right now,
- 26:32Speaker 4: all right, Uh so Sean, So Sean Hardener will see
- 26:35Speaker 4: you on Saturday, Trojan Landymurrie, give.
- 26:38Speaker 12: Us the address again, fourteen fourteen mccorkyl Avenue Southwest and.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Give me give us your hours or normal hours, just
- 26:43Speaker 4: on us.
- 26:44Speaker 12: So we'll be there nine to five on Saturday, but
- 26:45Speaker 12: I mean throughout the Christmas season nine to five every Saturday.
- 26:49Speaker 12: It's eight to six basically Tuesday through Friday. But we
- 26:54Speaker 12: are going to be open. December to twenty third is
- 26:58Speaker 12: our last day open before the Christmas season. So if
- 27:01Speaker 12: you're looking for any like you said, apperil gifts or
- 27:04Speaker 12: last minute purchases.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Often so if anybody's gonna come in on Christmas even
- 27:09Speaker 4: get that last the truly last minute gift, probably not
- 27:11Speaker 4: gonna happen.
- 27:12Speaker 12: Yeah, So yeah, that would be twenty third to be
- 27:14Speaker 12: our last day twentieth and then the twenty third that
- 27:17Speaker 12: Saturday and that Tuesday.
- 27:18Speaker 4: So do you uh you guys, after Christmas, do you
- 27:20Speaker 4: do any kind of like you're in sales events or
- 27:22Speaker 4: anything like that.
- 27:23Speaker 12: Depends on how desperate for money we are.
- 27:26Speaker 4: You know, I love, I love honestly it seems I
- 27:29Speaker 4: think you wanted to say something before. Where I get you.

- 39:14Speaker 4: I get a text to the text line that my
- 39:17Speaker 4: good friend Crewton is in the building. Now, if you
- 39:19Speaker 4: were a longtime listener of this show few two three
- 39:22Speaker 4: years ago, maybe our adopt me please pet of the Week.
- 39:25Speaker 4: We had a dog named Crewton, and these folks, they're
- 39:29Speaker 4: from the Saint Albans area. They went and they they
- 39:31Speaker 4: got the dog is already named Creuton, and he knew
- 39:33Speaker 4: his name, so that we don't know where the name
- 39:35Speaker 4: came from. He didn't speak up one way or the
- 39:37Speaker 4: other as to where the name came from. He didn't
- 39:39Speaker 4: He wasn't telling the story. But they adopted Crewton.
- 39:43Speaker 12: Uh.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Crewton has become a social media phenomenon on Instagram chronicles
- 39:49Speaker 4: of Creuton. And they brought Crewton to see me. They
- 39:53Speaker 4: dropped off some delicious popcorn as well. Uh So yeah,
- 39:57Speaker 4: I got really excited earlier in the week when I
- 39:59Speaker 4: found out that my good bye d Crewton was in
- 40:01Speaker 4: the building. So I pretty much stopped what I was
- 40:02Speaker 4: doing to go hang out with the dog. And I've
- 40:05Speaker 4: got pictures posted about it at a post them that
- 40:08Speaker 4: day of Dave Island Radio, So if you want to

- 41:12Speaker 4: Something on my mind this morning. The world of social
- 41:17Speaker 4: media always needs to be something to be outraged about,
- 41:25Speaker 4: and the outrage du jour over the last twenty four
- 41:29Speaker 4: hours or so here in our area has to do
- 41:33Speaker 4: with a new restaurant opening up in Charleston. Ordinarily, this
- 41:39Speaker 4: would be good news, right, I mean, a new place
- 41:44Speaker 4: to eat in an already great restaurant scene here in
- 41:47Speaker 4: the capital city. But no, our social media justice team
- 41:55Speaker 4: have taken it upon themselves to try to take a
- 41:57Speaker 4: big giant crap on this restaurant, the owners and the
- 42:02Speaker 4: people who work there and everybody included, okay, because they
- 42:06Speaker 4: don't like their politics. You heard that right. It's a
- 42:13Speaker 4: I don't think it started out as an organized social
- 42:15Speaker 4: media outrage, but it kind of went to that because
- 42:18Speaker 4: they don't like the owner's politics. And listen, I get
- 42:24Speaker 4: not patronizing the place because the owners don't line up
- 42:27Speaker 4: with you politically. And now I just like, actually, I
- 42:29Speaker 4: don't get it, Okay, but that's just me. What I
- 42:33Speaker 4: do have a problem with, though, are these social media
- 42:38Speaker 4: warriors trying to bring harm and bring down a business
- 42:43Speaker 4: by telling others that you shouldn't dine there either. To them,
- 42:50Speaker 4: I would say, get a life, people. I'm sorry. This
- 42:53Speaker 4: is just my opinion, not the opinions. That's why we
- 42:55Speaker 4: run the disclaimer at to beginning of the show. The
- 42:57Speaker 4: using opinions do not necessarily represent those same for advertisers.
- 43:01Speaker 4: I have zero tolerance for this. If you don't want
- 43:04Speaker 4: to go there, fine, don't go. But why in the
- 43:08Speaker 4: world would you want to try to destroy a business
- 43:14Speaker 4: and their employees all because you don't like the politics
- 43:19Speaker 4: of the owners. This is a business offering something unique
- 43:24Speaker 4: in Charleston that wasn't there. Wasn't there talking about Cajun food, okay,
- 43:32Speaker 4: and employing people. But because somebody didn't like the politics.
- 43:40Speaker 4: Anytime there was a post, you know, there's these different
- 43:42Speaker 4: restaurant review pages and whatever, people were saying, this place
- 43:50Speaker 4: is filled with hate, space is filled with bigotry and
- 43:52Speaker 4: so on and so forth. If you don't like that
- 43:55Speaker 4: for yourself, then fine that you're more compass one hundred
- 43:58Speaker 4: percent don't go there. But Why why are you urging
- 44:00Speaker 4: other people not to go and basically putting people out
- 44:02Speaker 4: of work? And I don't I doubt I've not been
- 44:07Speaker 4: to the restaurant yet. I doubt very seriously if you
- 44:10Speaker 4: go in there that you are going to be served
- 44:12Speaker 4: a healthy dose of right wing propaganda, you know, next
- 44:15Speaker 4: to your food. It's just insane to me. And talks
- 44:20Speaker 4: of harassing these people, and make no mistake about it,
- 44:23Speaker 4: it's out and out harassment from people that are just
- 44:27Speaker 4: trying to make a living. And it reminds me, just
- 44:33Speaker 4: to show you where my mind is on this. It
- 44:35Speaker 4: reminds me. But twenty years or so ago, in my
- 44:38Speaker 4: hometown of Logan, there was someone that wanted to open
- 44:42Speaker 4: up an adult bookstore and the local churches and others
- 44:48Speaker 4: lost their minds over it. And it was a pretty
- 44:51Speaker 4: big deal back then, in the days before social media,
- 44:54Speaker 4: or at least social media being how we know it now.
- 44:57Speaker 4: There were protests and so on and so forth. I
- 45:00Speaker 4: was doing you know, the local morning show there and
- 45:02Speaker 4: we had a segment where we took phone calls. I
- 45:04Speaker 4: simply said, then if you don't like it, don't go.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Why why should you keep other people from going? And
- 45:12Speaker 4: you know in Charleston, in other areas, lots of people
- 45:14Speaker 4: get upset about pride activities. Again, I say it, if
- 45:17Speaker 4: you don't like it, don't go. It's not hard. If
- 45:22Speaker 4: this new place's owners, their political beliefs don't line up
- 45:26Speaker 4: with yours, then simply don't go. I mean, it's it's
- 45:31Speaker 4: not hard, But I just don't know where you think
- 45:35Speaker 4: it's your place to tell people you shouldn't go because
- 45:39Speaker 4: they believe this. They'll find that out on their own.
- 45:42Speaker 4: And I don't think, again, you're there to eat. I
- 45:45Speaker 4: don't think that they're going to turn anyone away. And
- 45:48Speaker 4: it's a little personal to me because I know the
- 45:50Speaker 4: owner very well. He's a good young man. I've interviewed
- 45:55Speaker 4: him on the show in the past. I don't agree
- 45:58Speaker 4: with him on everything politically one hundred percent. And also
- 46:00Speaker 4: I don't agree with him, but that's okay. I keep
- 46:02Speaker 4: you from going in there. There's a lot of more
- 46:04Speaker 4: left leaning establishments in Charleston. I don't agree with that
- 46:08Speaker 4: much either, and I still go in there. She tried sometime.
- 46:11Speaker 4: It's really not that hard. But Dave Allen showing five

- 49:13Speaker 4: Text three zero four nine three five five zero zero
- 49:16Speaker 4: Waight Text says have you heard from your frequent radio caller,
- 49:18Speaker 4: Jim Brown. Haven't heard from him for several months. Thanks Nix.
- 49:21Speaker 4: I called this show in a while. He's called Midday
- 49:23Speaker 4: a couple of times, but I have not talked to
- 49:25Speaker 4: mister Jim. Text, says Dave. What's the name of this restaurant?
- 49:30Speaker 4: Because my family, my friends will go there and eats. Well,
- 49:33Speaker 4: I didn't mention the name because well, you know, we
- 49:36Speaker 4: got we got to send him a bill if we
- 49:37Speaker 4: do that, because it's advertising, I'll say, Okay, I'll go
- 49:41Speaker 4: ahead and throw it out there. I'm sorry, advertising program.
- 49:43Speaker 4: The name of the place is a Bourbon Street bestro
- 49:45Speaker 4: and it's in Charleston, and I know the owner very well.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Don't know any of the staff. I haven't even been
- 49:52Speaker 4: there yet, but I do know the owner very well,
- 49:55Speaker 4: and I just it just it just appalled me that
- 49:58Speaker 4: this happened to this, to this restaurant. Just trying to
- 50:03Speaker 4: give people some more options to an already great restaurant community. Charleston.
- 50:09Speaker 4: Tex says, good thinking and commentary on the new restaurant.
- 50:12Speaker 4: Thank you very much from the heart, Tex says, Dave,
- 50:15Speaker 4: what's the restaurant? What's their politics? Well, the name of
- 50:17Speaker 4: the restaurant is Bourbon Street Bistro, and the owner of
- 50:22Speaker 4: the restaurant is very easy to find politically, he's been
- 50:26Speaker 4: on this show before. But that's not important. But the
- 50:32Speaker 4: politics are not important in my opinion, and a text
- 50:35Speaker 4: I wanna fall and I appreciate this text another look
- 50:37Speaker 4: at it. Perhaps the owners shouldn't bring politics in their business.
- 50:39Speaker 4: They open themselves up to criticism for bringing their politics
- 50:42Speaker 4: into the business. It's probably intentional for the cultural war
- 50:45Speaker 4: marketing angle. No, that is entirely incorrect. If that's what happened,
- 50:50Speaker 4: then the texture's got a point. But they never once
- 50:55Speaker 4: said anything on their social media about politics. It's the
- 50:57Speaker 4: social media warriors that decided that, hey, we're gonna go
- 51:01Speaker 4: find out everything we can about these people. I guarantee
- 51:04Speaker 4: you that if you walk into that restaurant that you're
- 51:06Speaker 4: not gonna hear a single thing about right wing ideology.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Nobody's gonna ask you who you've voted for, what you're
- 51:12Speaker 4: They have not said go to their social media. They've
- 51:14Speaker 4: not said a single thing about politics. Somebody thought it
- 51:17Speaker 4: was their job though, to quote unquote out this guy
- 51:21Speaker 4: and out this restaurant, which is just crap, in my opinion,
- 51:24Speaker 4: total crap Texas Day. The people melting down over a
- 51:30Speaker 4: business owner daring to have free thought and different viewers
- 51:32Speaker 4: are the same people who celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
- 51:35Speaker 4: Truly sick and vile individuals. Again, this business never said
- 51:39Speaker 4: a word in their business about their politics at all.
- 51:42Speaker 4: You'lls not again. I've seen the pictures. I haven't been there.
- 51:44Speaker 4: There's no signs hanging up or anything like that, just
- 51:47Speaker 4: because people disagree with it. And I've dined frequently in
- 51:51Speaker 4: places that go in that have rainbow flags and have
- 51:54Speaker 4: all this other stuff. And I and I say, one
- 51:56Speaker 4: hundred percent, it's your restaurant. You do what you want to.
- 51:58Speaker 4: Doesn't keep me from dining there. Somebody's politics is not
- 52:01Speaker 4: going to keep me from downing there because I'm not
- 52:03Speaker 4: shallow that way. I'm shallow in other ways, DJ, but
- 52:06Speaker 4: not that way.
- 52:08Speaker 18: You can admit it.
- 52:08Speaker 20: That's the first step, right, that you're shallow in some ways. Yeah, Look,
- 52:11Speaker 20: you know what capitalism, the market.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Tends to take care of these things, Dave.
- 52:14Speaker 20: I've said before, spend your money there if you want, don't.
- 52:19Speaker 12: If you don't, it can end there. That's all you
- 52:20Speaker 12: gotta do.
- 52:21Speaker 4: And my point was is, look, if if you're morally
- 52:23Speaker 4: opposed to it, then by all means don't go. I
- 52:25Speaker 4: completely understand, but don't don't make it, don't harass people,
- 52:29Speaker 4: which is basically what's going on in social media right now.
- 52:31Speaker 4: They are harassing these people. All right, give me ten seconds.
- 52:33Speaker 12: We gotta go.
- 52:34Speaker 20: JB McCuskey, top of show on why the guards should
- 52:37Speaker 20: stay in DC. JB Acres coming up a ten thirty

- 52:42Speaker 20: Stubblefield Institute. At eleven oh six.
- 52:44Speaker 4: It's the JB Show. We gotta go Squared, all right.
- 52:47Speaker 4: We'll see a later day on Metro News mid day
- 52:49Speaker 4: till then, have fun and love somebody.
- 52:57Speaker 19: You see it.
