- 2:26Speaker 2: we doing? It's crazy. A lady came to me today
- 2:30Speaker 2: at work. She looked at me, and I was so
- 2:33Speaker 2: busy helping everybody else that I didn't pay any attention
- 2:35Speaker 2: to her. I was well, let me rephrase that, I
- 2:39Speaker 2: did pay attention to her, but it wasn't in a
- 2:43Speaker 2: way of human and human interaction. It was more of
- 2:48Speaker 2: a let me go ahead and do what you need
- 2:50Speaker 2: to do and get you out the way type thing.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So we're all like in a hustle and the bustle,
- 2:55Speaker 2: but nobody is willing to stop and say, hi, how
- 3:01Speaker 2: are you? So I'm asking you guys, how how are you?
- 3:08Speaker 2: For me? Everything is going great? I'm so excited about
- 3:15Speaker 2: the next couple of months. Sie book gallon friends. We
- 3:20Speaker 2: are booked up, booked up, booked up, So I'm asking
- 3:24Speaker 2: for dates and I thank you guys for that. It
- 3:27Speaker 2: is so awesome. I am looking to continue to grow
- 3:35Speaker 2: my blog and newsletter. What else are we doing? My
- 3:40Speaker 2: daughter goes back to school in two weeks, thank you God,
- 3:42Speaker 2: because I need to get rid of her stomach. Stomach,
- 3:46Speaker 2: I'm so tired of uber eats, the two lunches for camps.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I'm tired of that, so tired. Okay, sorry, what else?
- 4:08Speaker 2: What else? Yeah? So, while we're waiting for often to
- 4:13Speaker 2: come on in, we're gonna make sure that you guys
- 4:21Speaker 2: have the link for the secret word. So we have
- 4:25Speaker 2: not had a winner yet, you guys. So I got
- 4:27Speaker 2: three gift cards to give away, three ten dollars Amazon
- 4:34Speaker 2: gift cards to give away. Okay, listen, all you have
- 4:42Speaker 2: to do is go to sc Boogal and Friends dot com. Okay,
- 4:50Speaker 2: that's my blog soon to be converted to a website. Okay.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Once you get there, you're gonna look for the one
- 4:57Speaker 2: that says summer reading hit that you guys enter the
- 5:03Speaker 2: cold word, which you'll see in a minute, and then
- 5:08Speaker 2: you can enter any other books you've read. Every time
- 5:11Speaker 2: you enter, it's a chance for you to win that
- 5:14Speaker 2: gift card. Okay. So I'm gonna go ahead and give
- 5:20Speaker 2: you guys the word for this week. Okay, So if
- 5:24Speaker 2: you're ready, here it goes. The word is chat something
- 5:33Speaker 2: I think that we all should do. Let's put our
- 5:36Speaker 2: phones down less, especially with us having our kids going
- 5:40Speaker 2: back to school. Let's go ahead and talk about that
- 5:42Speaker 2: expectations we would have. Me and my daughter, we have
- 5:46Speaker 2: had that talk about the expectations. She's going into the
- 5:50Speaker 2: fifth grade. You guys, my baby's gonna be graduating from
- 5:54Speaker 2: elementary school and I am so ready for her. Okay,
- 5:59Speaker 2: because is ten going on twenty. But sit some time away,
- 6:04Speaker 2: do something with your kids. Yes, we all go on vacations,
- 6:07Speaker 2: we have fun, But I think as parents we have
- 6:10Speaker 2: to set the expectation of what we want from our
- 6:14Speaker 2: kids for the school year. So if you want greatness
- 6:16Speaker 2: in your kids in the school year, then you have
- 6:18Speaker 2: to speak greatness to them. You have to set the
- 6:21Speaker 2: environment when they go to school. You have to start
- 6:24Speaker 2: them back on a sleeping schedule. They should have been
- 6:28Speaker 2: on a reading schedule. But all these things can be create.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Gated.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Okay, remember the secret word for this week to enter
- 6:41Speaker 2: to win one of those gift cards is chat. So
- 6:44Speaker 2: head on over to sc Bookoutsandfriends dot com putting your information,
- 6:49Speaker 2: put in a word. And also, like I said before,
- 6:52Speaker 2: you have a chance to win more more chances to
- 6:55Speaker 2: win if you enter the books that you've read. Okay,
- 6:58Speaker 2: all right, all that f Malti is out there way,
- 7:00Speaker 2: so y'all know it's time. It's time for the authors.
- 7:05Speaker 2: So this lady, I'm excited you guys. Her whole vibe
- 7:10Speaker 2: is so cool with me. And yes I do authors.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I do look at your Facebook pages because I want
- 7:16Speaker 2: to see what book she gotten. And I do additude
- 7:18Speaker 2: a two be read list, which is god awful too long, okay,
- 7:24Speaker 2: but I'm still adding. Ain't no problem. So tonight I
- 7:27Speaker 2: am bringing up this wonderful young lady, y'all. I'm seeing
- 7:31Speaker 2: lots y'all you all ready. E Ssie book Houses and
- 7:38Speaker 2: Friends would like to bring up author Danny. Come on up,
- 7:42Speaker 2: miss Nicole Snipes. How you doing girl? Everybody?
- 7:47Speaker 1: I'm doing great?
- 7:49Speaker 2: All right? Well, welcome, welcome, welcome, So tell us a
- 7:55Speaker 2: little bit about yourself.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Well, I was born and raised here in Saint Louis.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I went to the Welston School District. I saw, I
- 8:10Speaker 1: have two grown daughters, cigarette children. I still live here
- 8:15Speaker 1: in Saint Louis. Writing. It's my passion. I love it.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I have the wildest imagination you can I possibly dream of,
- 8:24Speaker 1: so you can expect a lot to come from me.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, So before we go any further, let me
- 8:33Speaker 2: ask you a question. Okay, for your grandkids, is it nana, granny,
- 8:43Speaker 2: or any other nickname that you may have.
- 8:46Speaker 1: I'm granny, I'm grandma mom whatever they can they go
- 8:52Speaker 1: at the time.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Okay. So the reason why I asked at you guys,
- 8:57Speaker 2: because you know, grandma's ain't like they used to be.
- 9:01Speaker 2: You know, you gotta ask people. I have a cousin, right,
- 9:05Speaker 2: she's a grandma. So I would tease her and I
- 9:08Speaker 2: said it was up Granny. She would get mad. She said,
- 9:10Speaker 2: I am not a greennie, I am a sassy okay,
- 9:16Speaker 2: and she loves it and she owns it. So that's
- 9:19Speaker 2: why I asked that question. So what made you want
- 9:25Speaker 2: to become an author?
- 9:28Speaker 1: Well? I always wanted to write books because as a child,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I would sit and think of these stories in my head.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I just got a wild imagination. But I was a
- 9:45Speaker 1: bad kid coming up. I could advince that, and writing
- 9:51Speaker 1: just wasn't something that I thought I could do at
- 9:54Speaker 1: the time, but it was something I wanted to do.
- 9:59Speaker 1: But the they wents was fighting and they won. But
- 10:05Speaker 1: when I got in my forties, I would have had
- 10:08Speaker 1: and I found my manuscript and I read it, and
- 10:15Speaker 1: the ideas just started flooding, and I just got the
- 10:18Speaker 1: writing and finished it. And my kids motivated me, my
- 10:22Speaker 1: sister motivated me, and friends motivated me. Motivated me to
- 10:27Speaker 1: go ahead and get it out there and get it done.
- 10:30Speaker 1: And I did, and I finally published it. Tried to
- 10:34Speaker 1: find agents, tried to find publishers, couldn't find publishers. So
- 10:39Speaker 1: I self published it myself.
- 10:42Speaker 2: And how did that feel when you had that work
- 10:46Speaker 2: completed book form?
- 10:49Speaker 1: With me? It was an amazing feeling to get that
- 10:53Speaker 1: first copy of my hand, to actually look at it
- 10:57Speaker 1: and see that I did it. And I did have
- 11:01Speaker 1: a little bit of regret, like, if you would have
- 11:04Speaker 1: did this a long time ago, there's no telling where
- 11:09Speaker 1: you would be now.
- 11:14Speaker 2: I think I think there are several authors that would
- 11:17Speaker 2: say that, But for me, I would counteract them and say,
- 11:22Speaker 2: you did it.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:24Speaker 2: There are people that are sitting on books and manuscripts
- 11:29Speaker 2: and screenplays and movies but are scared to step out.
- 11:35Speaker 2: But you did it. Yes, So I would say, don't
- 11:41Speaker 2: be hard on yourself because you did it.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:48Speaker 2: So congratulations, thank you so much. So all right, let's
- 11:56Speaker 2: just dab into this book. Tell me a little bit
- 12:01Speaker 2: about your main character.
- 12:05Speaker 1: My main character, her name is Lexi. It starts out
- 12:12Speaker 1: where she gets She starts working at the strip club.
- 12:19Speaker 1: She decides to do a private party and gets gang raped.
- 12:26Speaker 2: She just got writ into it.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Huh in turns kills all of the guys the game rictor.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Then she starts uh h. Then she starts excuse me,
- 12:45Speaker 1: Then she.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Hold on, hold on, so you tell me she's a scrupler.
- 12:52Speaker 2: She got gang read. She went and killed everybody the gang.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yes, she pret to set up a party like she
- 13:02Speaker 1: wanted to set up another party. They went actually went
- 13:06Speaker 1: forward and she killed all five of them. Wow. Sets
- 13:14Speaker 1: the tone for her becoming a killer. Then she hiked
- 13:21Speaker 1: up with a baller. He ended up getting killed in
- 13:26Speaker 1: a drive by. She learned a lot from the dope
- 13:31Speaker 1: game from him. So one day she decided that, hey,
- 13:39Speaker 1: I know a lot about the dope games, so I
- 13:41Speaker 1: might as well give it a try. So she set
- 13:45Speaker 1: up shop, went back to the strip club, became a bartender,
- 13:50Speaker 1: and so her product was that way, and she became
- 13:58Speaker 1: a multi millionaire. But she also kills a lot of
- 14:02Speaker 1: people along the way.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Okay, okay, okay, miss miss miss Nicole. Okay, I'm looking
- 14:14Speaker 2: at this cover, and this cover does show the life
- 14:19Speaker 2: and the depiction of your story.
- 14:21Speaker 4: HM.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Your title is called and I'm bad at the titles.
- 14:27Speaker 2: It's called run it Out? Correct? Why that title?
- 14:36Speaker 1: Well, at first I was gonna call it Cocaine Girl,
- 14:40Speaker 1: but I didn't. I just didn't like that. And I
- 14:45Speaker 1: begin to think and think and thinks, try to figure
- 14:48Speaker 1: out the title. So I said, what does she do
- 14:52Speaker 1: the most in here? I said, she gets money. She
- 14:57Speaker 1: run it up? So that's I went, run it up.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Hey, it makes sense to me. So I see there's
- 15:05Speaker 2: a run it Up Running Up? Part two? Which book
- 15:09Speaker 2: do you feel was the hardest to write?
- 15:11Speaker 3: One?
- 15:11Speaker 2: Or two?
- 15:13Speaker 1: Run it Up one? Like I said, when I was younger,
- 15:19Speaker 1: I lived the street lifestyle. M H, so bitter pieces
- 15:25Speaker 1: of that it's part of my real life, oh wow,
- 15:29Speaker 1: and a lot of it is fiction, but part two
- 15:32Speaker 1: it is totally fiction. So I would say Part two
- 15:36Speaker 1: was the hardest to write.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And so why was that one the hardest to write?
- 15:43Speaker 1: Because I had to make up more of her moves,
- 15:52Speaker 1: her place, her cruise plays. After she took over in
- 16:01Speaker 1: the entire Atlanta Dope game mm hmmm. She moved to
- 16:07Speaker 1: Puerto Rico, where her plug was, which happens to be
- 16:11Speaker 1: her godfather. He became ill, so she took over his
- 16:17Speaker 1: poun pound so he got larger.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Dang. So what's your one? Because I know a lot
- 16:33Speaker 2: of authors they say their characters speak to them or
- 16:36Speaker 2: there's something about their character that they like or dislike.
- 16:41Speaker 2: What is the one trait of your character do you
- 16:44Speaker 2: like the most?
- 16:49Speaker 1: I like her power m hm. The fact that the
- 16:55Speaker 1: men don't like her, don't like the fact that she's
- 17:03Speaker 1: above them, so they're trying to take her out.
- 17:10Speaker 2: And that's true. Men don't like women having more power
- 17:14Speaker 2: than them, so they do everything they do to either
- 17:19Speaker 2: to either make that women feel just inadequate or to
- 17:25Speaker 2: dethrone her. So that that makes a lot of sense.
- 17:31Speaker 2: So who is your target audience?
- 17:34Speaker 5: When you wrote this book, well, I would say, but
- 17:50Speaker 5: this kind of look it would be people I would
- 17:53Speaker 5: like to relate to people that live that life.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Okay, so you want to have been through that. Okay,
- 18:06Speaker 2: so you wanted people to relate the book from experiences.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Have you ever had any of your readers come to
- 18:14Speaker 2: you and say, hey, you know what such and such
- 18:17Speaker 2: in your book hitting me this way?
- 18:20Speaker 1: Yes, somehow it got into the jail system okay. And
- 18:26Speaker 1: I got a lot of compliments and this sounds just
- 18:30Speaker 1: really my life. You know this, this, this is on points.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I love this. You should keep regular this. I love it.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I got compliments like that.
- 18:39Speaker 2: So how did that make you feel?
- 18:43Speaker 1: I don't know, it was like kind of weird. I
- 18:45Speaker 1: was like, yo, okay, you're in jail.
- 18:47Speaker 2: But understandable. You're like, yeah, thank yeah, thank thank you.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I guess understandable. But just to know that your book
- 18:59Speaker 2: was now in a place where you never did you
- 19:03Speaker 2: ever think it would go into a jail system. So
- 19:08Speaker 2: just to think that somebody saw your book and decided
- 19:13Speaker 2: they wanted to read it while they were there. And now,
- 19:17Speaker 2: from what I understand is those books get passed around.
- 19:21Speaker 2: So think about how many people have touched your book,
- 19:27Speaker 2: So let me ask your question. You said that your
- 19:31Speaker 2: your daughters are a big influence and that they had
- 19:35Speaker 2: your back.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Also your sister soon.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Let me ask you a question. Is there any traits
- 19:43Speaker 2: that you use in motherhood or sisterhood that help you
- 19:50Speaker 2: in your writing journey?
- 19:54Speaker 1: They keep be motivated. My old sister, her hass a
- 20:01Speaker 1: little bitter, but reading my books, she can't get with
- 20:06Speaker 1: the six scenes. She says, Mama, I can't believe you
- 20:11Speaker 1: write something like this.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Let me find out, Mama, we might have to talk
- 20:17Speaker 2: about that.
- 20:19Speaker 1: She's just can't handled it. She can't read it. But
- 20:23Speaker 1: my daughter, my baby girl, she reads everything and she
- 20:28Speaker 1: she like, man's that's tight. I love it. Just keep going,
- 20:32Speaker 1: just keep going. She pushes me really hard, her and
- 20:35Speaker 1: my sister. And my sister reads everything also, and she's like,
- 20:40Speaker 1: what are you gonna do with my girl?
- 20:41Speaker 2: Next?
- 20:42Speaker 1: He she caf LEXTI her girl, What are you gonna
- 20:44Speaker 1: do with my girl next? I said, I'm gonna kill her.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Don't kill my girl.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Don't kill her. Well, let me ask you a question.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Mm hmm. You know I'm gonna kill her off because
- 20:57Speaker 2: that was my back. You gonna kill her.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I'm not sure yet.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Not sure how many how many more books do you
- 21:05Speaker 2: see coming in your series?
- 21:12Speaker 1: I know I'm thinking about par three, but I'm currently
- 21:24Speaker 1: getting at Rope Part one and two written in booky script.
- 21:32Speaker 2: On Oh my god. Yo. All right, so you know
- 21:45Speaker 2: we didn't get a chance to talk offline, you guys. Okay,
- 21:48Speaker 2: So she doesn't know, I don't know. She know what
- 21:52Speaker 2: we do here at sci Book Gallen Friends. So we
- 21:57Speaker 2: have a segment that is all the fun. They're fun
- 22:03Speaker 2: questions where acts. I'm very big into movies. I'm very
- 22:08Speaker 2: big into music. I love music in movies, so my
- 22:14Speaker 2: questions are normally around that. So I'm going to ask you,
- 22:20Speaker 2: since your book is being made into a movie, what
- 22:29Speaker 2: female actress would you see playing Lexi.
- 22:38Speaker 1: H Well, I've been watching a lot of two B
- 22:44Speaker 1: movies and I saw a few females on there that
- 22:50Speaker 1: I would like to get in contact with because I
- 22:53Speaker 1: think they would play the role very well. But it's
- 22:59Speaker 1: a matter of me catching their names and giving them
- 23:03Speaker 1: cottact with them and see if they would want to put,
- 23:08Speaker 1: you know, send them to mak the book and see
- 23:11Speaker 1: if they will want That would be something that they
- 23:13Speaker 1: would want to do.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Okay, So I know because my sister, she loves to
- 23:21Speaker 2: be movies to the fact that, y'all, my sister be
- 23:23Speaker 2: in boxing me movies on two and I'm thinking she's
- 23:27Speaker 2: telling me to watch the movie. No, she's in boxing
- 23:31Speaker 2: me so she can go back and watch it later
- 23:33Speaker 2: on what.
- 23:36Speaker 1: In box two? Right?
- 23:39Speaker 2: And I do know several authors. One of the books
- 23:44Speaker 2: I've read was The Secret Society. That was a book,
- 23:49Speaker 2: and I've read book one and book two. I think
- 23:52Speaker 2: there is a book three or they move made a
- 23:56Speaker 2: movie three. But it was very you saw that, right, Yeah,
- 24:02Speaker 2: it was very very close to the book, and I
- 24:06Speaker 2: loved that. I as a reader, I hate when you're
- 24:14Speaker 2: going along with the book and then they make a
- 24:15Speaker 2: left turn like come back please, because I remember this
- 24:19Speaker 2: was going to happen. So but let's see, you said
- 24:24Speaker 2: a two B movie. If you can have a musical
- 24:28Speaker 2: artist play LEXI, who would it be. I'm gonna tell
- 24:39Speaker 2: you truth. I was thinking, rey ma.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Mm hmm, yeah, did that that that that that fire?
- 24:55Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 24:56Speaker 2: Like that that sassiness. But I slipped your throat. If
- 25:03Speaker 2: I have to type vibe that is what I was getting.
- 25:06Speaker 1: And that's what does she does a lot of.
- 25:12Speaker 2: Yeah, like I when I read a little bit and
- 25:18Speaker 2: I was saying about the character, and like, the first
- 25:20Speaker 2: thing that came to me was from me Ma, because
- 25:21Speaker 2: it's like remy Ma is very much secure in her womanhood,
- 25:29Speaker 2: but she ain't got no problem going toe to toe
- 25:32Speaker 2: ring the ring what a male and still being able
- 25:37Speaker 2: to be dominant. And that's what I got out of
- 25:40Speaker 2: Alexi's character.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Okay, So so I see that a Lexi is a
- 25:54Speaker 2: very sexual person. Yes, off m mm hmmm. Author's cringe
- 26:04Speaker 2: at writing those explicit scenes? Are you one of those
- 26:10Speaker 2: authors that don't have a problem doing it? Not at all? Oh? Okay,
- 26:17Speaker 2: that answer that answers that question. You guys, what is
- 26:22Speaker 2: the crow? What is the craziest scene you ever had
- 26:28Speaker 2: to write in your book?
- 26:35Speaker 1: The craziest saying, well, when she poured acid on the
- 26:45Speaker 1: top of the head, on top of the head of
- 26:49Speaker 1: someone who crossed her.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Did you just say, poor accid? Mm hmm on top
- 27:01Speaker 2: of somebody's head, Yes, and.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Their skin melted down? Is they It was so gruthsome
- 27:11Speaker 1: that the crew was shocked.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Who made you man to write that?
- 27:21Speaker 1: I write will moved. I'm in that's all right.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Acid, and the skin was peeling from the from the
- 27:36Speaker 4: head down, the face everywhere.
- 27:39Speaker 1: The accid were all repeeled.
