- 0:10Speaker 1: Hello again, everyone, Welcome to another Inside the Birds special.
- 0:13It's our schedule, an Intel show where we go over
- 0:17every one of the Eagle's opponents. And we've done two shows already.
- 0:21I think this is number three. We will go through
- 0:24Eagles games nine through twelve here and this stretch is interesting.
- 0:30This is probably the harder stretch or most intriguing stretch
- 0:32of all of them. And we're gonna start in week
- 0:36ten against the Packers. Now the Eagles come off, they're
- 0:40buying week nine, which you know what, that's a good thing.
- 0:44You're around the mid season mark to come off, you're buy.
- 0:47It's not too early, it's not too late. That's probably
- 0:48a good area. A Nick Sirianni, Eagles head coach, including playoffs,
- 0:53is three and zero against the Packers all three we're
- 0:56technically at home, two in Philly, and that last game,
- 1:00which is awesome in Brazil. And this is the first
- 1:03time that the Eagles will be on the road at
- 1:05Green Bay since December sixth, twenty twenty, so you're talking
- 1:09five years, so it's been a while.
- 1:11Speaker 2: There will be interesting to see was Doug Peters this
- 1:13last year.
- 1:14Speaker 1: They'll be interesting to see how these guys react to
- 1:15being there in Green Bay. Let's get started with Green
- 1:18Bay's offense, what they're bringing to the table. So at
- 1:22running back, you know, it's all about Josh Jacobs had
- 1:25a good year for them. It's about who's going to
- 1:28back him up. Well, aj Dillon obviously is gone, he's
- 1:30in Philly and Marshawn Lloyd unfortunately was the only played
- 1:34one game last season and they just teating to any
- 1:36then he just couldn't stay healthy, had the worst luck
- 1:39in the world. Two hamsterring injuries, a hip injury, then
- 1:43he had a penaceiitis.
- 1:45Speaker 2: So it just it's just one of those things.
- 1:47Speaker 1: They they drafted him to be Josh jacobs back up
- 1:50and to be a third down back, and eventually he
- 1:53could start maybe when they move on from Jacobs, if
- 1:55they do over the next couple of years. But they're
- 1:58gonna learn a lot about him because he is finally
- 2:00healthy now. The floor is one of these what we
- 2:04call balance eleven twelve personnel guys. It's run based. It's
- 2:10the Shanahan system. He's committed to the run. And this
- 2:13would annoy me because the Urban Times, if you look
- 2:15at their Passtar Gert group, particularly at receiver and you go, wow,
- 2:19you look at the receiver group, they're four deep, they're
- 2:21legitimate for deep, and they've had these two young Ted
- 2:23Ends that they like, why aren't you throwing the ball more?
- 2:25But they're they're over committed to running the football when
- 2:30your running back is not Saquon Barkley, no offensive Josh Shacobs,
- 2:32he did very well for Green Bay. But when you've
- 2:35got this personnel that the Packers have it wide receiver
- 2:39and Ted End. What am I talking about here? Now?
- 2:41Christian Watson unfortunate tours acl We're gonna assume he'll be
- 2:45back by mid season. He suffered his injury late last season,
- 2:50so there's a question about when he'll be back.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Romeo Dobbs on the final y of his deal.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Jayden Reeve is a really good slot Matthew Golden Now,
- 2:58he could run, He could flat out fly. I know
- 3:00there's some personal people that I spoke to around the
- 3:02draft who thought that he shouldn't have been drafted in
- 3:05the first round.
- 3:06Speaker 2: He's more of a second round talent.
- 3:07Speaker 1: It's probably gonna get overdrafted for a speed, but he's
- 3:09a good football player and they needed that. They needed
- 3:12somebody could run badly. Don Tavian Wis is a talented receiver,
- 3:16good backup receiver. They brought in me Coole Harmon who's
- 3:18not the same player he once was. So and they
- 3:21have Bo Melton who they sign off. The Seahawks practice
- 3:24quite a couple years ago, and one president of service
- 3:26has done a good job.
- 3:27Speaker 2: So they're super deep at receiver. That's that's really not
- 3:29the issue.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It's how you want a tack teams, in particular the Eagles,
- 3:33where we know the Eagles.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Are not deep at corner. Okay, we know they're not and.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Now on the surface through nowt now we'll see what
- 3:41happens closer to the season. Does how he add another
- 3:44veteran corner? Is he trade for one? How to do
- 3:48the guys competing for the one Joe the one outside job?
- 3:51Look Ringo and Jackson. Well, well we'll learn that in
- 3:55July and August.
- 3:56Speaker 2: But as I was saying.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Before, they could do whatever they want because they got
- 3:59Tucker kraftlou must Grave a tight end. So they're super
- 4:03deep pass target group. If you had a more aggressive
- 4:06play caller. Because Matt Lafleur, the head coach, calls the plays,
- 4:10this offense would be better. I'm just telling you now.
- 4:12The question is with Jordan Love very inconsistent last season.
- 4:15You know he's super gifted. He was have faced him before.
- 4:20They know him very well. Which Jordan Love is gonna
- 4:22show up and we're going to learn early in the season.
- 4:24Then Malik Willison's his backup, although Sean Clifford will see
- 4:27if they open it up to let Clifford Penn State
- 4:30Shan Clifford compete for that two job.
- 4:33Speaker 2: But the bottom line is they've got a lot of talent.
- 4:35They should be.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Better on offense than they are the very gifted. The
- 4:39offensive line's not great.
- 4:41Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Rashid Walker, who's been a good story development considering he
- 4:46was a seventh round pick in twenty twenty two. Now
- 4:49they drafted Anthony Belton, presumably to be the long term
- 4:53solution at left tackle. Aaron Banks will play left guard.
- 4:56Comes here from the Niners. Jenkins has played left tackle,
- 4:59he's played guard. He's now going to play center. Zach
- 5:02tom who's been a good story.
- 5:04Speaker 2: No question.
- 5:05Speaker 1: At the right tackle. It's an okay line. It's not great,
- 5:08it's very beatable. Eagles defensive line should do very well
- 5:11against this offensive line.
- 5:12Speaker 2: But if you can't, if you can't get on Jordan
- 5:15Low with.
- 5:16Speaker 1: His past target groove, if Matt Lafleur ever gets out
- 5:19of his comfort zone, it actually tries to be aggressive
- 5:21coming out and throwing the football and stop trying to
- 5:23be balanced. This could be a game when Eagles playing
- 5:26them in Week ten, that could present them some problems.
- 5:31Now let's look at their defense. Jeff Hafley is in
- 5:35a second year. Now, I know a lot of people
- 5:37say that, oh, Jeff Haffley is an aggressive play caller.
- 5:42One of the lowest man coverage teams in the NFL
- 5:46less than twenty percent, ninety percent man coverage blitz rate,
- 5:48very low. Everyone's talking about aggressive. He would be second host.
- 5:52Let's rate at seventeen percent. And look, that's okay if
- 5:57you can get to the quarterback. I'm just I see
- 6:01a team, a defense that's very talented, and this is
- 6:05another defense. Why don't they win in the playoffs. There's
- 6:08just something missing from this team. Rashaun Garry's good football player.
- 6:11He recovered from his injury very well. Now I should
- 6:13tell you Lucas van Nass was drafted for a thirty
- 6:17four front. They play a forty three in or half ofley.
- 6:19First time they played last year was the first time
- 6:21they played a forty three front in well over a decade.
- 6:25So Van Neassa is a guy caught without a scheme.
- 6:28He's just he's not a good fit for a forty
- 6:30three front. They're just not working for them at all.
- 6:34So they're what they're going to do in their front
- 6:37is because they moved on from t J. Slayton, who
- 6:40draft who sign in free agency with the Bengals. They'll
- 6:44go with Davonte Wyatt, most likely as a full time player.
- 6:47As a full time starter. Whyatt was a twenty twenty
- 6:50two first round pick, So look there's and Kenny Clark's phenomenal.
- 6:54It was just, man, this guy is still getting done.
- 6:57A first rounder in twenty sixteen for the Packers heat
- 7:00story development. So the front is talented, but it's not
- 7:05a high end front. And the linebackers Kwai Walker, Edrian Cooper,
- 7:09and Isaiah McDuffie, who the Eagles know well. They saw
- 7:12him in Week one last year. So Cooper should be
- 7:15a full time starter with very very gifted came on
- 7:17late last season. So this is a really good group.
- 7:20Now there's secondary is where they have questions. If you
- 7:22could protect, you could throw against these guys. I like
- 7:26the safety group. McKinney's really good. He rebuilt his career
- 7:29with the Packers, no question about it. And Evan Williams
- 7:33was a good story. Development last year went healthy. But
- 7:36the cornerback group now they cut Alexander everybody knows that
- 7:39he signed with Baltimore, who was the most talented corner.
- 7:42And Keishaw Nixon. I got to give this guy credit.
- 7:44One of better special teams returners in the League's he's
- 7:47become a good corner better than you think if you're
- 7:49not watching him. For what I'm told, he's actually been
- 7:51well above average. Nate Hobbs one of my favorite players
- 7:55in the league since he came in with the Raiders.
- 7:57A guy that a lot of people thought could only
- 8:00play inside, and he's out of Illinois.
- 8:03Speaker 2: By the way.
- 8:05Speaker 1: He can play nickel, he could play outside. My sense
- 8:09is he's got to play outside here because they're just
- 8:11not good enough on the outside. Carrington Valentine's there. It
- 8:16was the third round corner of seventh round in twenty
- 8:18twenty three. This is a very beautable group. Hobbs is
- 8:21good he's had a lot of injuries. He's very competitive
- 8:24talking to people with the Raiders about him. In fact,
- 8:27I remember when I remember when teams called the Raiders
- 8:33a couple of years ago for him at trade deadline.
- 8:35The Raiders said, we're not trade them. They told teams
- 8:37who called, we're not trade him. So he's very gifted.
- 8:40But this is a team that you could throw against.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Now.
- 8:42Speaker 1: We know the Eagles last year at least were heavy
- 8:45twelve personnel because they had Barkley. But if it's not
- 8:49working with their run game against the Packers and they
- 8:53feel that they could spread it out, I would absolutely
- 8:56do that and get obviously Dotson Eagles their receiver. So
- 8:58that's a fun matchup. Obviously, both teams know each other
- 9:00very very well. That game is again in week ten
- 9:05at Green Bay November tenth, by the way, and on
- 9:06Monday night at eight fifteen Eastern.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Looking forward to that one.
- 9:10Speaker 1: All right, let's get let's get to this next one
- 9:14and to a team that was my breakout team three
- 9:16years ago. But I'm moving off the lines a little bit.
- 9:20I think they're a little bit overrated. Let me get
- 9:22into some of the issues that they have this game
- 9:26in Week eleven is at home. He goes, we'll host
- 9:29this one. It's on Sunday Night Football, November sixteenth. Boy,
- 9:34the lines are coming off of a tough schedule. Week
- 9:36five at the week five at the Bengals, Week six
- 9:39at the Chiefs. The next week after that they host
- 9:42the Bucks, then they have a bye. Week nine, they
- 9:45host the Vikings. Say, if McCarthy's the real deal, they're
- 9:48going to be really good, and they play at Washington
- 9:50the following week. That is a gauntlet of a schedule. Now, offensively,
- 9:55we know Ben Johnson is no longer their offense coordinator.
- 9:58He has moved on to be the Bears head coach.
- 10:00John Morton, who was once the Jets offense coordinator, didn't
- 10:03go well for him. He was not brought back after I.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Believe one year. He's more.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I know he's coached at USC, but talking to someone
- 10:12who's coached with him before, he runs a lot of
- 10:14Sean Payton's concepts, which means you'll see a lot of
- 10:16eleven and twelve personnel. Ben Johnson and we'll talk about
- 10:20him later in the show. Ben Johnson did both with
- 10:23the Lions. John Morton could do both. He's an experienced guy,
- 10:26been around the league a long time. He's a good coach.
- 10:29But let's see what he learned from his time with
- 10:31the Jets. But the bottom line is when you look
- 10:35at the Lions here, if they could protect, because you
- 10:38know that Jared Goff cannot move very well. But if
- 10:40you could protect, you got James to Williams, who's on
- 10:44the final yvers rookie deal, although they picked up with
- 10:47a fifth year option. He's super explosive. He looked pretty
- 10:49good last year. Needs to be more consistent. He looked great.
- 10:53I'm on Rossie Brown, one of the best possession receivers
- 10:55in the National football super gifted player, Tim Patrick, who's
- 10:58overcome major injuries. He could still play. They brought him
- 11:02back and they've got uh. It's funny the kid that
- 11:07they drafted from Arkansas, Isaac. I don't know how you
- 11:11say his name. T s l a A tesla. I
- 11:16had a receivers coach tell me that he he he
- 11:20gave him a six round grade and the Lions took
- 11:22him in the third. So we'll see if Brad Holmes
- 11:24is terrific. He's one of the better, probably top three GM.
- 11:27He's usually right, but they're not really deep at receiver,
- 11:32but with la porterback, Rock writes their why they could
- 11:37go to eleven and twelve person and how they want
- 11:38to do it.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Now.
- 11:39Speaker 1: They've had pretty significant changes on their offensive line. Frank
- 11:44ragnow retired, Tate Ratleige will replace him, and then Kevin Zeitler.
- 11:50They're left guard. Signed with the Titans. Christian Mahogany the
- 11:54six round of last year is the first time starter
- 11:56They did draft Miles Fraser, so they've got two changes
- 11:59on the interior their offensive line. Grahame Glascal is getting
- 12:03up there, folks. Glasgal turns thirty three soon, so there
- 12:11this offensive line. We know that Sools elite and Decker's
- 12:14still solid, but they've got some big changes on the
- 12:16interior of their line. This is where Jalen Carter could eat.
- 12:19This is where the Eagles have an advantage in the
- 12:21They're in the Lions interior ol versus the Eagles defensive
- 12:26line interior. So that's one matchup, but that we'll certainly
- 12:29look at. And by the way, Jamier Gibbs and David Montgomery,
- 12:34for those of you who thought this is ridiculous, why
- 12:36would they draft Gibbs in the first round when they
- 12:37have Montgomery. Now you see why this one two punch
- 12:40is phenomenal. But Ben Johnson not calling the plays anymore,
- 12:45that's where that's where you wonder, does John Morton have
- 12:49a good feel for those players. I know that Morton's
- 12:51been there for a couple of years, so he knew
- 12:53Ben Johnson, he worked under him.
- 12:55Speaker 2: But play callings and art folks, it's not easy. So
- 12:59those are the guy is that you have to be
- 13:00aware of.
- 13:01Speaker 1: And I know Zach Bond grated out as elite I'm
- 13:03told as a coverage player. Bond's got elite size and movement,
- 13:10but it's not easy covering. Premier gives him by the way,
- 13:12he's way stronger than you think, super explosive and got
- 13:16better size than you think. And obviously montgomers the banger
- 13:18of the two of in terms of the power game.
- 13:21So that's a that look, it's a dimonically dynamically talented offense.
- 13:25It's just that the the go from Ben Johnson to
- 13:28John Morton is certainly going to raise to my brows
- 13:32a little bit. Let's get to the defense. Get another
- 13:35new coordinator, Kelvin Sheppard. You might remember where the Giants
- 13:38and the Dolphins as a linebacker. He's the lines former
- 13:42linebacker linebacker's coaches, now their defense coordinator. Moving on, he
- 13:47takes over for Aaron Glenn, who's now the Jets head coach.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Now they run a thirty four front.
- 13:52Speaker 1: My understanding is they're going to keep it relatively the same,
- 13:54so they run an odd man front.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Eagles have seen plenty of odd man fronts. The question
- 13:58is for the Lions. We know the Eagles have the.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Best offensive line in football. Where are they getting a
- 14:03pass rush? They re signed Marcus Davenport, which surprises me.
- 14:06The guy's been nothing but disappointing. Talented but always hurt,
- 14:10too many injuries. He never remember what the Saints gave
- 14:13up to trade up to get him. It never worked out.
- 14:16He moved on to the Lions and Brad Holmes.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Brought him back.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Now they're gonna have a they believe it was it
- 14:24healthy in Hutchinson, William McNeill coming off the ACL really
- 14:30dynamic nose tackle or interior defensive lineman went healthy. Tyler
- 14:34Williams was their first round defensive tackle, so they're going
- 14:37to be good on the interior. The question is where
- 14:41they get in a pass rush. Davenport. You don't know
- 14:45how much he could play. You don't know how much
- 14:46he could contribute. We know Hutchinson can.
- 14:50Speaker 2: In a big way.
- 14:51Speaker 1: But that's really it, folks that al Qudein Muhammad is
- 14:55a nice backup player, not a high end edge rush
- 14:57shirt the kid they drafted in the sixth round from
- 15:01Boise passa nine. He's a late round pick. So you
- 15:10just don't know about this pass rush.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I'm just.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I've got real questions about the pass rush, which we
- 15:17had questions last year with them. Brad Holmes is phenomenal,
- 15:20but he needs to understand you gotta win by getting
- 15:24a field. I heard what he talked about being strongly interior.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I totally agree with that.
- 15:29Speaker 1: But Jack pass Josh Passill could rush the passer, but
- 15:32he's not. We're their elite, big time, high in pass rushers.
- 15:37That's that's my issue with them now. Now the cornerback
- 15:41group is one where they're questions. They lost Carlton Davis
- 15:49who signed with the Patriots sign a big number, signed
- 15:51for big number.
- 15:52Speaker 2: There.
- 15:52Speaker 1: They play a ton of man coverage, highest man coverage
- 15:54of the National Football League forty five per man coverage,
- 15:58one of the highest splits rates in the natural up
- 16:00league at thirty five percent. Now, you would think Kelvin
- 16:03Sheppard will keep it relatively the same. That's to be
- 16:07honest with me. That's the way I see it. But
- 16:10when you look at this group here, they're questions. Terry
- 16:14and Arnold up and down rookie season. DJ Reid's a
- 16:17good number two corner, really good, but he's changing teams here,
- 16:20different scheme. Avonte Max will play safety or nickel for them.
- 16:25A Meek Robertson's a pretty good nickel. They're phenomenal at safety.
- 16:29Branch and Kirby Joseoph is awesome, huge contract, high speed
- 16:33safety in NFL history. Brian Branch, I'm told could if
- 16:36they needed to play outside corner or corner, he can
- 16:39play it now. Annas Raygustraul didn't really contribute much last season.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Here's the thing.
- 16:43Speaker 1: They have plenty of players at corner. Where's your ace
- 16:46corner there, That's what they have to prove. We know
- 16:48they're e lead at safety and inside backer. Angeloni he's
- 16:52been an overchiever, good football player, and Jack Campbell big
- 16:55time later in his third year. He's not quite up
- 16:58to the hype yet and they have, by the way,
- 16:59for me, Eagle and Bronco and Texan and Titan. Zach
- 17:02Cunningham is there if you didn't know that. And Rodrigo
- 17:05is uh if Dan Campbell calls him. Rodrigo is coming
- 17:08off of major injury of Malcolm Rodriguez, so he's there.
- 17:11So look, there's plenty of talent on this defense. And
- 17:13DJ Reader is still there at nose tackle. But the
- 17:16bottom line is there's talent here. I don't know if
- 17:19they can get the pasture. I don't know if they
- 17:21could rush the pastor enough because coverage and pressure they've
- 17:28got to connect. I just don't know if they're gonna
- 17:30have that kind of connection to being the lead football team.
- 17:33They're gonna win the division. They're gonna be very good.
- 17:35I don't see them as a super Bowl team. I'm
- 17:37just gonna be honest with you.
- 17:39Speaker 2: But they're a fun team to watch.
- 17:41Speaker 1: And look, they're gonna have a lot of questions because, folks,
- 17:44when you have two new coordinators. We know the Eagles
- 17:46did it. They had two new coordinators last year and
- 17:48they won Super Bowl. That's that's a big deal. But
- 17:53when you when you look at it, the lines have
- 17:56a first time defensive coordinator. That's the difference there. So
- 17:59that that's the first two games for the Eagles. Here
- 18:03coming out of the buy.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Sky Motor Cars and West Guest there was a different
- 18:07building dealers all the tanks is one. Look at their
- 18:10highline pre owned vehicles and people all over the country
- 18:12what the motor bred Shulder make sure you don't spend
- 18:15the time with your money before you've purchased the car.
- 18:17Sky Motor Cars allows you to make all the decisions
- 18:21regarding your next vehicle. At Sky Motor Cars, you never
- 18:24have to spend more than necessary. There's a Skymotorcars dot Com.
- 18:28Today are called six ten, nine to one eighty seven.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Fives all right, Week thirteen at Dallas.
- 18:37Speaker 1: This is a Sunday afternoon game at Dallas, Big d
- 18:42But I hate that stadium.
- 18:43Speaker 2: At and T. It's too big. I was there for
- 18:44the Super Bowl the Packers Steelers one. I think that
- 18:48was the one. I mean, it's it's cool how big
- 18:51it is.
- 18:52Speaker 1: But it's it's just it's kind of like it is loud,
- 18:58but it doesn't feel like a great home field of Bannage,
- 19:00to be honest with you. And of course the Eagles have.
- 19:03In Week one, they played against the Cowboys to open
- 19:06up on Thursday. The Cowboys played the previous week at
- 19:11the Raiders on Monday Night Football. So, by the way,
- 19:13they're in a short week, not super far travel, but hey,
- 19:17after this game, listen to the Cowboys schedule, folks. The
- 19:23next week they host the Chiefs. The next week after
- 19:25that at the Lions, then they host the Vikings, then
- 19:28they host the Chargers.
- 19:31Speaker 2: And at the Commandos.
- 19:34Speaker 1: And we're gonna know, well before this game how good
- 19:37of a job Braun Schottenheimer is doing, and how much
- 19:39they're buying in and shoddy calling the plays here offensively.
- 19:43Just a couple of notes. The backup quarterback they're expecting
- 19:46to be Joe Milton. Joe Milton has an unbelievab arm strength.
- 19:49I know the media kind of went, oh wow, I
- 19:52had a great offseason, folks. You can't get bought by
- 19:56the arm strength. There's a reason why the team that
- 19:58drafted him didn't want the Patriots. They moved on from
- 20:02him very quick. So let's just see what happens. But
- 20:05he's got talent, he's got a big arm, he's got
- 20:07good size. I know everyone's putting to Javonte Williams hopefully,
- 20:11like hopefully he wins the starting job. He probably will
- 20:13be their starter. Miles Sanders probably will be his backup
- 20:16of Jayden Blue, fifth rounder of Texas.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Is super explosive.
- 20:20Speaker 1: He's a much lower case is one personnel executive told
- 20:24me much lowercase Jamier Gibbs. He's smaller physically, but he's explosive.
- 20:30And of course the trade for George Pickens if he
- 20:32talked about a couple of shows ago when we did
- 20:34this schedule show, Let's see how he handles himself with
- 20:38his new coaching staff. Tyler Booker is going to be
- 20:40a first year starter, a rookie first round pick. I
- 20:43mean ast Brandon Cooks, but they're gonna be You can
- 20:46expect heavy eleven personnel this season, no question about that.
- 20:51Shody is a good play caller, but I'm interested to
- 20:55see what he's done since he was the play caller
- 20:58for Seattle when they won twelve, when they didn't have
- 21:01a really good back at heavy eleven. Well, they didn't
- 21:03have good backup receivers, but he still put him out there,
- 21:06which is bold, and he did a great job until
- 21:08Pete Carroll kind of micro managed him. Defensively Matt Eberflus,
- 21:14as we talked about in a couple of shows ago
- 21:16on our schedule, Show forty three front lots of zone.
- 21:19Speaker 2: What's interesting is that under Mike Zimmer last season.
- 21:26Speaker 1: They played they played more man coverage thirty one percent
- 21:29man covered Chicago with Ibra, Flus only played seventy percent
- 21:32man coverage. Blitz rate in Chicago twenty four percent. Blitz
- 21:37rate last year on her Zim thirty percent. So you're
- 21:40gonna see a more conservative defense. Rush four, don't blitz
- 21:44a lot. Got to get home. Eziaku, who we liked
- 21:49at inside the Birds a lot second round pick, should
- 21:52be one of the first at drushers off the bench.
- 21:54It's Parsons, it's Dontee Fowler who they know, they brought
- 21:57him back from Washington, Marshawn Neeland, Zaku, and Sam Williams
- 22:01coming off injury, so they're loaded there.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Oh so Diggi Zua it was terrific.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Number ninety seven and got his big contract extension. But
- 22:08they've not got enough out of Manzi Smith. The Eagles, look,
- 22:13they're gonna be some moments in each of these times
- 22:15that they played Dallas that Dallas might win up front,
- 22:17but overall, Eagles were still have.
- 22:19Speaker 2: The best offensive line.
- 22:19Speaker 1: And by the way, Payton Turner's there as well, who's
- 22:22unfortunately a former first round pick who's been hurt. Just
- 22:25not he's super long, but not explosive, but he's more
- 22:28of a rundown guy. So this is a This is
- 22:31a good battle the Dallas front versus the Eagles elite
- 22:36offensive line. They're pretty weak at inside at linebacker. Overall,
- 22:41they don't know when Overshown is going to be ready.
- 22:43Said so many injuries. It's such a shame. Third rounder
- 22:45and twenty twenty three Kenneth Murray has been such a disappointment.
- 22:49They got him for a ham sandwich from Tennessee, got
- 22:51him for seventh rounder Jack Sanborne wouldn't shock me and
- 22:55off Samborne wind up winning the job. They got to
- 22:59figure this out look, and Dallas has been terrible against
- 23:02the run. We know that it's gonna be all about
- 23:03Barkley in the matchups. And the other thing is, look,
- 23:07they're not good at corner. Kay eyr Ilam is a
- 23:10man cover corner.
- 23:11Speaker 2: He was in college.
- 23:12Speaker 1: He didn't fit with Buffalo, who plays a lot of
- 23:14his own Irau Ibraflues plays a lot of his own
- 23:17drown Bland. You could play them at Nickel, you could
- 23:19play him outside. Dravon Diggs coming off a fill up
- 23:22on his ACL surgery, and Trevon revel A revel he's
- 23:29coming off ACL surgery and the Dallas Cowboys team doctor
- 23:31did the surgery. But and Andrew Booth, who they acquired
- 23:35last year from a trade, is that didn't work out
- 23:37for Minnesota. It was the second rounder for the Vikings.
- 23:39They're not good at corner, good at safety. With Hooker
- 23:41and Wilson, this defense is upside, but they.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Have a ton of question marks. Egos are clearly way
- 23:46better than them.
- 23:48Speaker 1: The thing with Dallas is they've got the talent, but
- 23:52something seems to always happen. Can Maddy Refluse get them
- 23:56to play more, more discipline. He's been with Dallas before,
- 23:59by the way, so they know him in that building.
- 24:01We'll see what happens. But this is the fun matchup.
- 24:04But the one I cannot wait for is in week thirteen.
- 24:09The Eagles will host on a Friday, Yes, on Black Friday.
- 24:12Speaker 2: This is to me.
- 24:13Speaker 1: We'll see how Ben Johnson, if there's a good buy
- 24:15in from him, Ben Johnson will to call the plays.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Their new head coach. This team is so fun.
- 24:21Speaker 1: This game is on the Deverober twenty eighth, Black Friday
- 24:23three at three eastern, and this will be a streak
- 24:27of three out of the last four games versus the
- 24:29NFC North, which is kind of what a That's an
- 24:31odd deal there with the schedule makers. But here's what
- 24:35you're looking at. A talk about a team that's completely
- 24:37changed their offensive line. So it's Joe Tuney who's going
- 24:41to be backup guard. He was miscast the Eagles embarrassed
- 24:43him in the Super Bowl at left tackle. It's not
- 24:46his fault. He's a guard. Drew Dollmen comes over from Atlanta.
- 24:50Jonah Jackson came from the trade with the Rams. It
- 24:52didn't work out. He lost his job there. He'll be
- 24:54the right guard. Darnell Wright, a first round or two
- 24:57years ago, is the right tackle. Question is could Assi
- 25:01Trapelo their second rounder, beat out Brax and Jones to
- 25:03be the left tackle. So they've completely revamped it. It's
- 25:08gonna look different. And I'm telling you, folks, if Ben
- 25:12and Ben Johnson, by the way, listen to this passarger
- 25:14group that they have. DJ Moore is really good. Romo
- 25:18Dunese will be a first year starter. Keenan Allen's not back.
- 25:22Alamade Sakiaz did a good job for Washington last season.
- 25:24He'll be a backup. Luther Burden, who fell to the
- 25:26second round. What I was told from some personal people
- 25:30is not a great route runner, not as good as
- 25:33as the draft knicks think he was. Needs to be better,
- 25:38being more energy when the ball's not to him, I
- 25:40was told, which I thought was interesting. So again, there's
- 25:43a reason why a guy like that, who's super gifted,
- 25:46drops of the second round. Tyler Scott, by the way,
- 25:48a third year receiver, fourth rounder two years ago.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Two years ago, he could run. So they're loaded there
- 25:54and listen to this tight end group.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Colston Lovelin, who that was a surprise that the Bears
- 25:58drafted him in the first round.
- 26:00Speaker 2: We now gifted he is out in Michigan.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Cole Comet, who's one of the better wide tight ends
- 26:07in the NFL, is an athletic. Why Derviens Month that
- 26:10could play inside? Who's Who's Who's cut by Miami? He's
- 26:14a He's a wide tight end, So folks, Ben Johnson
- 26:17could do whatever he wants a lot eleven, a lot
- 26:19of twelve. This presents a lot of problems for the Eagles,
- 26:22but the Eagles defensive line should be able to eat
- 26:24against this offensive line. This is a great matchup en
- 26:27up on Ben Johnson. You see the Eagles weakness opposite
- 26:30Quinnion Mitchell. I'm going after their secondary like this is
- 26:34a This is a game where the Eagles have to
- 26:37win up front or or it could be a closer
- 26:39game than you think because look at this pass target
- 26:41group and running back DeAndre Swift, who the obviously no
- 26:44Roshawn Johnson will be their goal line back.
- 26:47Speaker 2: It'll help them on third downs when they need it.
- 26:49Speaker 1: So and then of course Kavi the Wims is the
- 26:52quarterback and he's got to improve on his mechanics, footwork, timing,
- 26:56and Ben Johnson is going to coach him apart, he's
- 26:57gonna get hard coach at case Ken will be the backup.
- 27:00So this is a really fun offense defensively, now, this
- 27:05is going to be interesting, this scheme under Declan Doyle. Well,
- 27:09actually it's really I'm sorry that Doyle's their pseudo offense
- 27:13corner bench has to call the place. I'm sorry it's
- 27:15Dennis Allen who's a defense coordinator. He runs a forty three.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Front, so Da is a guy who will blitz. You're
- 27:22not afraid to do it.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Their past rush group it's Montes Swat as a power rusher.
- 27:27Dio and Digbo came up from the cult of very
- 27:29unerrated rusher. Austin Booker was a nice story development of
- 27:34terms of their preseason last year in training camp. Who
- 27:37made it out of Kansas. But it's not a great group.
- 27:41This is a group the Eagles should have no problem with.
- 27:44Grady Jared comes over cut from the Falcons. Andrew Billings
- 27:49is there, Schmart Turner is there. Second rounder of Texas
- 27:52A and M and Dexter. This is a pretty good group.
- 27:54It was the second rounder two years ago.
- 27:56Speaker 2: They got good depth.
- 27:57Speaker 1: They'll have a good rotation. But you know what, but
- 28:00it's one Eagles will be able to handle it. It's
- 28:02gonna be a fun situation to see. Dennis Allen could
- 28:05be aggressive a linebacker. We know they're really good with TJ.
- 28:09Edwards and Tremade Edmonds. Secondary, this is where there's some questions.
- 28:15We know Jalen Johnson's really good. The other corner is
- 28:17where they've got problems because Tyreek Stevenson not consistent. Who's
- 28:22a third round player, second rounder two years ago. They
- 28:25got to kind of figure it out opposite Jalen Johnson,
- 28:28Tyler Gordon's are really good, Nickel and bared Byared who
- 28:33the problem with him was when when the Eagles traded
- 28:35for him. This is when the Eagles are having problems
- 28:38two years ago with coach of staff and it just
- 28:40didn't work out. The Eagles went up cutting him.
- 28:42Speaker 2: He revived his career.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Really there well there and then hopefully Juwan Prisker has
- 28:46no more problems with concussions. Man very scary what happened
- 28:49him last year, So we wish him very very well.
- 28:52So this is a fun matchup. Eagles again are clearly
- 28:55the better team. I look forward to this one, no
- 28:58doubt about it. Ben Johnson's really really good and lead
- 29:04play caller. But can they protect against the Eagles. This
- 29:08is going to be a fun stretch for the Eagles.
- 29:11And then lastly, when you look at the final group,
- 29:15which we'll talk about on the next show. As you
- 29:18run up this schedule show for the Eagles the next
- 29:24the final group of games for the Eagles are as follows.
- 29:29They're at the Chargers, they host the Raiders. And this
- 29:33is the craziness of the schedule. This the the game
- 29:38December twentieth, the time is not determined at Washington, Wow
- 29:43at Buffalo on December twentieth, eight days later, and then
- 29:49home on January fourth against Washington. So that is going
- 29:54to be fun. What a brutal Now, that is a
- 29:56brutal stretch. Obviously the Raiders shouldn't be very good, but
- 30:00that's so far. They know that stadium and then they
- 30:04play the Comandos twice to the final three weeks.
- 30:07Speaker 2: That is going to be very, very challenging. All right,
- 30:10enjoin it. We'll talk to you on the next one.
