- 0:34Good evening, everyone, and happy Tuesday.
- 0:37Welcome to the Dog Tag Diva podcast.
- 0:40I'm your host, Dog Tag Diva. And with me tonight is my fellow
- 0:43military broadcast radio host with the Moses Amber Dietz.
- 0:48And Amber's podcast is called Into the Weeds.
- 0:51And tonight, we are going to be talking about a really
- 0:55interesting case that is still in the public mainstream of
- 1:00discussion, if you will. We're going to be talking about
- 1:03Gypsy Rose Blanchard this evening and her case and some
- 1:06inside scoop that you may not be aware of and kind of things that
- 1:11are surrounding this really interesting case from multiple
- 1:15perspectives. Welcome, Amber.
- 1:17Thank you for having me. Thank you very much for coming
- 1:20on. I'm always open to new and
- 1:22interesting things and being objective and hearing all sides
- 1:27of the story so that people can form their own opinions.
- 1:30But, you know, this case came to light about 10 years ago, and
- 1:35then it kind of came back into the mainstream as she was doing
- 1:39interviews from prison and then getting out of prison.
- 1:41And now she's out of prison and she's had a, you know, a very
- 1:46tumultuous, if you will, to put it lightly, time since she's got
- 1:52out of prison. But there's a lot of undertones
- 1:54of this story that I'm really interested in talking about with
- 1:57you tonight. OK, well, I'm here.
- 1:59Ask away. I don't know what you know about
- 2:03the case, so why don't we start with that?
- 2:07What do you know about it? Well, so I can remember this
- 2:11story in the news, probably it's, I think it's 10 years ago
- 2:15now. It's about 2015.
- 2:17This case came out and you know that the mom, Dede Blanchard,
- 2:23had been murdered by her daughter and the boyfriend and
- 2:27that Gypsy, the daughter had spent years thinking that she
- 2:32was quite ill and had all these medical issues from seizures and
- 2:38cancer and etcetera. There was a long list of medical
- 2:43issues that she had and they started out in Louisiana, if I'm
- 2:48remembering correctly. And then mom and dad got
- 2:52divorced and Dee Dee took Gypsy to Missouri.
- 2:57And there was, you know, donations involved.
- 3:00And who gave her the house was a Habitat for Humanity.
- 3:05They gave her the house. Yeah.
- 3:07So there was a house and wheelchair bound and surgeries
- 3:11and all kinds of things that come along with, you know, have
- 3:16having a child with, you know, multiple chronic illnesses and,
- 3:21you know, trips and clothes and toys and, you know, things that,
- 3:26you know, when you pull at someone's heartstrings, people
- 3:29want to to help. And one of the things that came
- 3:34out at the end of this upon the murder of Didi Blanchard was
- 3:37that Didi had actually lied about all the ailments that
- 3:42Gypsy had and she wasn't ill. And so, yeah, So it's and then,
- 3:49you know, kind of came out that, you know, the Gypsy was involved
- 3:54with the murder of her mom, with the boyfriend that she had met
- 3:57online. And Gypsy wound up going to
- 3:59prison herself for the murder. In addition to the then
- 4:03boyfriend who also went to prison.
- 4:06He is serving a life sentence. And she served.
- 4:10She was sentenced to 10, but I don't believe she did the full
- 4:1410. No 8 1/2.
- 4:17OK. And then she was released from
- 4:20prison in December of 2023. While she was in prison, she got
- 4:26married and got, you know, released in prison.
- 4:31Husband picks her up. And then they have this
- 4:33tumultuous, you know, continuation of their marriage
- 4:37outside of prison. And then she reconnects with an
- 4:40old boyfriend that she had dated while she was in prison.
- 4:43Or which I don't know how you could consider somebody your
- 4:46boyfriend when you're in prison and you you date, but you don't
- 4:48really date like that. I think we could do a whole
- 4:51another show on women who date men in prison.
- 4:55Pen pal romances in prison. Like the Menendez brothers are
- 4:59married. Like, wait, I know I show for
- 5:04another time. But yeah, she gets married in
- 5:07prison to this one individual and she reconnects with an old
- 5:10boyfriend. She leaves the husband, there's
- 5:13this divorce and then there's then she's pregnant with the new
- 5:16boyfriend. And but there's some weird law
- 5:20in Louisiana that whatever your name is at that time, even if
- 5:23you're divorced, the baby's still going to have that name.
- 5:25So it's a whole thing. Yes.
- 5:32OK. Well, that was a great rundown.
- 5:37So first of all, I would say, so today is actually Nicholas go to
- 5:44John her Co defendant's birthday, his 36th birthday.
- 5:50And I would like everybody to remember that Nicholas is on the
- 5:55spectrum and has autism. And for 2 1/2 years, he was
- 6:00manipulated and he tried very hard to get her not to go along
- 6:08with this plan. And there's a lot of evidence
- 6:11out there showing that he tried to get her to change her mind
- 6:16several times. But also, Gypsy is sick.
- 6:22She has a chromosome deletion disorder or something like that,
- 6:30and it affects a lot of your body.
- 6:34It has given her microcephaly, which is like a small head.
- 6:38Yes. And all kinds of things come
- 6:43along with this medical disorder, and you're a nurse, so
- 6:47do you know anything about that? Not her particular medical, like
- 6:54her chromosomal deletion, but I can say with some semblance of
- 6:58certainty that, you know, when we start, when chromosomes get,
- 7:02you know, messed up for whatever reason, either because we're
- 7:04exposed to something or because we're born with it and it's, you
- 7:07know, a birth defect. It depends on which chromosome
- 7:11is has the issue. And then there may or may not be
- 7:15small or big IT medical issues that will come along with that
- 7:21deletion. And there are so many syndromes
- 7:23out there. I mean, I've been a pediatric
- 7:25nurse, you know, most of my 28 year career as a nurse.
- 7:28And there are some syndromes out there that they don't even have
- 7:31a name for because there's so few people that have it.
- 7:34So, you know, is microcephaly one of those things that can
- 7:37impact, you know, that small head?
- 7:38Yes. And what happens when we have a
- 7:41small head? Well, that kind of restricts our
- 7:43brain's ability to grow to its normal potential and capacity.
- 7:48Yeah, so she has a wide range of symptoms.
- 7:52Her eyes are messed up, her digestive system is messed up,
- 7:58and so she is sick. She has been sick her whole
- 8:04life. She was born with it.
- 8:06So up until 2011, she went through multiple doctors and
- 8:14procedures to try and figure out what was wrong with her.
- 8:18And you as a nurse would know. And me as somebody who has been
- 8:24very ill my whole life, sometimes it takes a really long
- 8:29time to get into diagnosis and you have to go through all kinds
- 8:34of medical tests and all kinds of different things in order to
- 8:40diagnose, diagnose the patient. And so that's basically what was
- 8:46happening is that she was going through all of those medical
- 8:49tests to try and figure out what was wrong.
- 8:52And it wasn't until 2011 that they figured out what was wrong.
- 8:58And by 2011 they had pretty much quit going to the doctor as
- 9:05much. So by the time they, yeah, by
- 9:092011, they're kind of backed off from going to the doctor.
- 9:14She's got a feeding tube and she only goes to like the emergency
- 9:20room to actually get it changed. And she doesn't like every six
- 9:24months or something like that. So there's, there's medical
- 9:29evidence showing that they, they backed way off from going to the
- 9:33doctor by 2011. So.
- 9:38Yeah, really interesting. I mean, I just from like my
- 9:41nurse brain has so many questions, you know, and I've
- 9:47been a nurse a long time. I've been a pediatric nurse a
- 9:48long time. I have been around child abusers
- 9:53a long time. I have been around, I believe 2
- 9:58moms who were one child and by proxy.
- 10:03And they are a little, you know, they're very good at you.
- 10:09And initially you'll think, wow, they're really on top of their
- 10:13game. They're very medically savvy and
- 10:16they're advocating. And then there's this other
- 10:19side, really OK, They like how much is too much and how, how
- 10:24involved is too involved, you know, and again, I as a
- 10:28pediatric nurse has been around chronically I'll children, it's
- 10:30a variety of syndromes and who've had tracheostomies and
- 10:33been on ventilators and had many multiple, you know, medical
- 10:37problems. There's, there's a, you know,
- 10:40you, I would be able to tell. Well, I, I would like to think
- 10:44I'd be able to tell with the little minimal exposure that
- 10:46I've had, you know, patients with parents like this, you
- 10:50know, there's a line between, you know, OK, they know a lot
- 10:53and they're savvy and OK, now they know too much and it's
- 10:58getting a little weird, you know, and over time my nursing
- 11:03Spidey sense has kind of developed and sometimes I could
- 11:05just even tell a parent is off just because like my instinct is
- 11:08like something is not right here.
- 11:11But it's, you know, she had AG tube and if she was getting fed
- 11:15through the tube, you know, why didn't she have home care?
- 11:19And maybe they declined that which which happens.
- 11:22We've had families that have like, no, we don't need it.
- 11:25We can handle it. This is super simple.
- 11:27You know, if you're, you know, hopping around from doctor to
- 11:31doctor, hospital to hospital, it does make it hard to track some
- 11:35of these things and it makes it hard to pick up on any kind of
- 11:40abuse and neglect situations. You know, 1000 by proxy in and
- 11:45of itself is, you know, it's so like the, the, like the
- 11:49percentage, like the incidence of that, it's really small.
- 11:53Actually, I wrote it down and there's actually so few cases
- 11:57here in the United States, like they can't even quantify it.
- 11:59They actually have to go use statistics from like Ireland and
- 12:02the United Kingdom and things like that nature.
- 12:04So it's really like .5 to 2.8 cases per 100,000 children.
- 12:11Correct and there. Actually was a physician here in
- 12:15Florida who estimate found 15 cases in the state of Florida in
- 12:20one year. And then so nationally that in
- 12:24his mind or her mind, I can't remember, it equates to 262
- 12:28cases in a year in the United States.
- 12:31So that was just one, you know, scientific researcher looking at
- 12:35one state and then kind of extrapolating well based on this
- 12:38incidence in the population and the ratio.
- 12:40This is kind of what we might see here in the United States.
- 12:42But the incidence isn't like it's not a lot.
- 12:46So it in, in a sense it would be hard to pick up on, you know,
- 12:51should you know, especially in this and you know, in this
- 12:54situation. Yeah, but in Munchausen by proxy
- 12:59cases, isn't it correct that the child is usually made sick?
- 13:07They yeah, so they are, you know, and again, there's going
- 13:10to be I'm, you know, as medicine, I always tell people
- 13:13there's always going to be like a one off from like we could say
- 13:15medically, statistically speaking, this is what we see.
- 13:19But I always make room for like, but there's always room for, you
- 13:24know, it it's a rare incidents or a rare case.
- 13:27So, you know, typically they make them sick when they're not
- 13:31sick. But do I think they're you know,
- 13:34it's possible that she was sick and she made her sicker.
- 13:38I that I believe. OK.
- 13:41Yeah. So from everything I have seen
- 13:45and OK, so as I was telling you earlier, most of Gypsy's medical
- 13:53records, especially her time here in Missouri have been
- 13:58released and pretty much everybody has a copy of them
- 14:04that wants them. And I can get you a copy of them
- 14:08if you want them. But what what is shown in the
- 14:13medical records is, is it's more of a malingering more than a, a
- 14:20Munchausen by proxy situation because Gypsy's not being made
- 14:26sick. And if you, if you really look
- 14:29at all of the documents between the medical documents and the
- 14:33court documents, you'll see that a lot of what has been put out
- 14:40there in the media by Gypsy and her team is all false.
- 14:47And so you can't really even go by any of the documentaries or
- 14:52the show or even Gypsy's book, because she has even stated that
- 14:57there are many inaccuracies in the book.
- 15:00And so it's really hard, even with Gypsy herself, to
- 15:07distinguish what's true and what's not.
- 15:11And I believe that in that case, she definitely suffered from
- 15:16abuse by her mom in teaching her how to be like that.
- 15:22You know, the lying, the manipulating, because
- 15:26ultimately, at the end of the day, it was, I believe, in my
- 15:32opinion, I believe Gypsy's mother had a sick child, was a
- 15:38single mother. And it got on that train of
- 15:45getting in with all of the foundations and charities and
- 15:51stuff like that and kind of rolled with it, in my opinion,
- 15:56and took advantage of the system and taught her daughter how to
- 16:03take advantage of the system. And from early on, Gypsy was on
- 16:07stage singing. She was an ambassador for
- 16:12foundations, you know, as a, as a role model for children, even
- 16:16when she was in her 20s. And these people didn't know
- 16:19that, you know, sitting in a wheelchair pretending to be a
- 16:23child that has mental deficiencies.
- 16:29And yeah, it, it, yeah. It was just one long con in my
- 16:34opinion. Yeah, no, I I kind of, I feel,
- 16:38feel you along along those lines.
- 16:39And you know, typically, you know, they hit a certain age and
- 16:43you can't do it anymore because they they can figure it out,
- 16:46right. So typically we see this in
- 16:48Munchausen and I proxy like in little ones because they don't
- 16:51know any different or better. And you would think that as they
- 16:53age, they kind of figure it out. So how much did her Gypsies
- 16:57chromosomal deletion and the microcephaly, like how much did
- 17:02that play into that? We're talk more about the Gypsy
- 17:07Row Blanchard case when we come back right after this break.
- 17:10I. And we're back and before the
- 20:16break, we were talking about how things unfolded in the Gypsy
- 20:20Rose Blanchard case and Amber and I were talking about how it
- 20:24was kind of 1 long con. And I, I definitely don't
- 20:27disagree with that, you know, and we know that, you know,
- 20:31sometimes you get kind of caught up in that, you know, the, the
- 20:34support and the, the people and how it kind of makes you feel,
- 20:40you know, and being in the limelight.
- 20:42And sometimes people just can't handle being out of it and they
- 20:45want to stay into it. And, you know, like you said,
- 20:48you know, we, we kind of snowball into manipulation and
- 20:51things and then it, you know, before you know it, it's out of
- 20:53control. I mean, we know that, you know,
- 20:56when baby Jessica fell into the well back in the 80s, those of
- 20:59us who were around remember that the gentleman who actually
- 21:03pulled her out of the well actually committed suicide
- 21:06because he, you know, after all the news vans and all the media
- 21:10attention went away. Like he just couldn't live
- 21:12without that spotlight and he actually committed suicide.
- 21:16So I don't. Yeah, I don't disagree that, you
- 21:19know, she kind of got caught up in all of that and kind of was
- 21:23like, OK, well, what do I need to do to keep this up?
- 21:26Because, you know, I kind of like all this attention and all
- 21:28the things that I'm that I'm getting.
- 21:31And the byproduct of that is that Gypsy kind of got caught up
- 21:36in it, you know, and I appreciate you bringing up the
- 21:39fact that, you know, Nicholas Godejean is on the on the
- 21:42spectrum as well, you know, so people are going to ask, you
- 21:48know, and one of the things that I've thought about is why did
- 21:51she, you know, kill her? You know, why didn't she just
- 21:55try to get out? You know, in my mind, as
- 21:59somebody who's a survivor of domestic violence, you don't
- 22:02know how to get out and you're just so afraid.
- 22:05Was that just kind of just she, that was the only way she
- 22:08thought to get out. And I'm not condoning it in any
- 22:10way, shape or form, but I almost, you know, it's almost a
- 22:15shame that that was that's what she felt.
- 22:18That was her only way to get away.
- 22:19Because I would have loved to have heard Dee Dee's side of the
- 22:23story and and how this whole situation kind of unfolded.
- 22:29Yeah. So I would say that in my
- 22:36opinion, after looking at all of the evidence and all of the
- 22:43court evidence, and I'll actually post it in here, a link
- 22:47to the court documents. There's a link in there to the
- 22:51Google Drive that anybody can access and go through all of the
- 22:56court documents that have been released so far.
- 22:59And we've got more coming out pretty soon.
- 23:02I actually just got an e-mail today from Greene County and
- 23:07they told me that it looks like my files are going to be coming
- 23:12in sooner than I thought. Oh, that's funny.
- 23:15Yeah. So there's going to be a huge
- 23:18document dump. And I am assuming that it's
- 23:21never been seen before because I when I requested all of this
- 23:28information, I thought all of this information was out, but it
- 23:32turned out it wasn't. So.
- 23:36So I was just kind of asking for it to kind of preserve it for
- 23:41historical purposes because I like history.
- 23:44And so it was more about that for me.
- 23:48But what I'll say is, is that I believe from everything I have
- 23:53seen, Gypsy Gypsy's mother, Dee Dee was extremely sick.
- 24:06She had diabetes, she had gout, she had Parkinson's.
- 24:12If we're to believe what Gypsy says, she was extremely heavy
- 24:21and you could tell the the last video that was released, she was
- 24:27extremely tired and she used that wheelchair, in my opinion,
- 24:33more as a Walker than as a prop, ended up being more like a
- 24:42Walker for her. So she was already, she was
- 24:45extremely sick. And in my opinion, if Gypsy
- 24:49wanted to do something that was painless, like she has said, you
- 24:54know, that she loved her mother and she wanted to do something
- 24:56that was painless, You know, she could have overdosed her on
- 25:01insulin or something like that instead of having her boyfriend
- 25:06stabbed her 17 times. And then also, there's ample
- 25:12evidence to show that Gypsy was online chronically just like she
- 25:17is now back then, and had communication with her dad and
- 25:22her stepmother and had communication with a lot of
- 25:27people and didn't ask for help except for Nicholas.
- 25:33Go to John, the guy who had autism who was easily
- 25:39manipulated. And so I believe that Gypsy
- 25:48wanted to leave, and I'm not sure what her motivation was
- 25:57other than to just get away and live her own life.
- 26:02But if you look at all of the court documents, the life that
- 26:06she describes living with Nicholas is very twisted and
- 26:10evil. And it's not even coming from
- 26:13Nicholas. It's coming from all from Gypsy.
- 26:17And she says some really terrible, vile things in these
- 26:22videos that the police had to watch and these posts and all of
- 26:28this communication back and forth.
- 26:30I mean, extremely vile things and, and it wasn't coming from
- 26:36Nicholas, it was all coming from her.
- 26:39So I don't, I don't know what was going on in the woman's
- 26:43head, but she was a woman. She wasn't a girl.
- 26:46She was 23 years old and. Yeah, You got to wonder, you
- 26:53know, what her life was like up to that point.
- 26:58You know, and I'm, and I'm not judging.
- 27:00I'm, you know, I'm really truly trying to be objective and
- 27:03think, you know, if I was somebody who kind of found out
- 27:06or realized at one point that maybe I'm not really as sick as
- 27:10I'm being made to believe. But she wasn't really exposed
- 27:14to, from the, at least from the outside, exposed to a lot of
- 27:19normalcy in terms of like just getting up, going to school,
- 27:23like she was with her mom all the time.
- 27:26So that relationship was clearly a little dysfunctional.
- 27:30So if she doesn't really have any semblance of what a normal
- 27:35relationship is and then she's seeing she's, you know,
- 27:38basically exposed to, you know, like this the like the Disney
- 27:42and all that kind of stuff and the comic cons and things.
- 27:46But then she's online and she's seeing things.
- 27:48So I'm sure her in her mind, her reality is very different than
- 27:54what all of us experiences. We just going about our
- 27:57day-to-day lives in her behavior, and I don't think it
- 28:00was right in any way, shape or form.
- 28:03You know, I just kind of wonder, you know, from a psychological
- 28:06standpoint, I find this case fascinating because we never got
- 28:09to hear from Deedee, who clearly had some issues of her own
- 28:13physically and psychologically. And then she has this child
- 28:16who's got, you know, a chronic medical issue that kind of gets
- 28:20compounded. And then, you know, like, so how
- 28:24much does, you know, the chromosomal deletion and the
- 28:26microcephaly and everything else medically wrong with her?
- 28:29How does that all play into this?
- 28:31And, you know, she never saw, you know, doesn't really
- 28:34remember her parents much. And so, like, she doesn't have
- 28:39examples of healthy relationships.
- 28:42So she was almost kind of set up to fail in a sense.
- 28:45So, you know, am I surprised that this is kind of what she
- 28:51kind of turned into? Not necessarily because we've
- 28:54seen people exposed to less and be worse.
- 28:57And, you know, like, you know, and there's a a documentary on
- 29:00Charles Manson. I can't even watch it.
- 29:02Like, I've gotten through like a couple episodes and I'm like,
- 29:04OK, I'm having nightmares. I have to stop.
- 29:07Yeah. The chaos.
- 29:08One I'm I'm stop watching it. It was freaking me out.
- 29:12I had to stop, but you know, so we know that if you don't come
- 29:16from, you know, and but do I know of people who came from,
- 29:20you know, horrible child abuse situations and are completely
- 29:22fine and and functional? Absolutely.
- 29:24So, you know, it's out there. Like the possibility of of
- 29:28normalcy is out there. But you know, do I think she
- 29:32should have gone to prison? Absolutely.
- 29:35Do I think, you know, again, I wasn't in the courtroom and
- 29:39didn't hear all the evidence. So I don't want to pass judgment
- 29:43and say that the punishment was, you know, too harsh or too
- 29:48little. Because again, if I'm not in the
- 29:51courtroom and hearing all the evidence, I find it hard to kind
- 29:54of really have a strong opinion in One Direction or the other.
- 29:58Well, she didn't go to trial. She got a a plea deal.
- 30:01He went to trial, right? What I will say is as I
- 30:05encourage anybody who actually has questions like that about
- 30:10this whole case to go to that Google Drive, look at the
- 30:14pictures, read the court documents, read the police
- 30:18reports and judge for yourself. Don't, don't take the
- 30:23documentaries, don't take her book, don't take any of that
- 30:28into account. Just read, just read the court
- 30:31documents and you will be shocked.
- 30:33You will be absolutely shocked. And so much to the point that in
- 30:40one of the videos that the one of the detectives watches, Gypsy
- 30:47talks about, I think it's either a video or it's a, a text
- 30:52message something. She talks to Nicholas about how
- 30:56at the age of 6, she had a surgery and she had a major
- 31:03seizure during that surgery and she became like a a paraplegic.
- 31:10And according to her, she pretended.
- 31:18Not to have. Feeling and things like that.
- 31:23Even to her mom. She was pretending even to her
- 31:26mom, like she was playing up the symptoms and and all of that
- 31:31stuff. So even in the court documents,
- 31:34she talks about how at. The age of.
- 31:38Six, She made a conscious decision to lie to her mother
- 31:42and everybody else because she was afraid that her mother
- 31:46wouldn't love her and the other people wouldn't love her.
- 31:50And so it's just interesting. I mean, that's just one, one of
- 31:55the things that came out, you know, is like, OK, do we believe
- 31:59Gypsy that that's what she did, you know?
- 32:02Because it came from. Her own words or, you know,
- 32:05whatever. So this case is just extremely
- 32:09fascinating when you dig into it.
- 32:11Yeah, I mean clearly they. Were codependent on each other
- 32:14and you know, so that's in and of itself.
- 32:18You know, again, I wish she would have just walked away.
- 32:22I mean, she was an adult. She could have just walked away
- 32:26'cause I, you know, I think I would definitely would have
- 32:28liked to have heard Dee Dee side, you know, the good, the
- 32:33bad and the ugly. And then, you know, they could
- 32:37have either said, Hey, we're, we can never be around each other
- 32:39again, or they could have worked it out.
- 32:41You know, I do, you know, I'm will full on admit that I do
- 32:45watch, you know, that her life out of prison.
- 32:48I watched, you know, that the TV shows Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
- 32:51And do I agree with all the horrible, nasty things that
- 32:56people are saying about her on social media?
- 32:59Absolutely not 'cause I don't think that's right or fair to
- 33:01trash her. When when again, we don't know
- 33:03the whole story, especially if you haven't seen all the
- 33:06information that's out there and, you know, made it, you
- 33:09know, an educated decision. So I do think it's horrible.
- 33:12Some of the things that people are saying I do on that note.
- 33:18So I have a rebuttal to that because unfortunately I have
- 33:23become immersed in the Gypsy verse basically of what it is,
- 33:30and I don't pay near as much attention as most other people
- 33:35do. But there's a lot of really bad
- 33:40toxic stuff going on in the Gypsy verse.
- 33:45And what I mean by that is, is that there's like a whole
- 33:49discord. The Gypsy and her best friend
- 33:52are involved in that run, and they dox creators and they dox
- 33:58subscribers. Literally they're doxing people.
- 34:03Is that the friend that's been that's?
- 34:04Been on the dock in the show at the That's Bree.
- 34:07Bree. Yeah, that's her name.
- 34:08Yep. Yeah, I'm, I saw that one
- 34:11episode of Mike. If you were really her friend,
- 34:14why are you enabling her? Oh, it's.
- 34:18It's really bad. The woman will be on a live for
- 34:2116 hours straight defending Gypsy constantly.
- 34:27And then she's got all of these side characters.
- 34:30There's this old woman named Dreamer Craft Corner that is
- 34:35absolutely ridiculous. She's a racist, she's a bigot.
- 34:40She's just an absolutely horrible human being.
- 34:44And there's just all of these side characters that are
- 34:47involved with Gypsy in this Discord and on TikTok that are
- 34:52actually making people's lives miserable.
- 34:55They've got pictures of people's homes.
- 34:58They've got the names of people's kids.
- 35:01All kinds of stuff. It's really bad and I am
- 35:10extremely disappointed in the fact that.
- 35:13So when I heard about Gypsy and I heard that she was in prison
- 35:17with my cousin my. Cousin and I initially.
- 35:21Started praying for her. That's how we initially end of
- 35:26the situation, yeah. Yes, I started praying.
- 35:29For her, we were concerned about, you know, was she being
- 35:32taken care of, You know, was she being abused again, you know,
- 35:38because people will go into the system and repeatedly get
- 35:41abused. And so we were extremely
- 35:44concerned about that. So my cousin started asking
- 35:47questions, you know, and we didn't really get much before
- 35:52she went out, before she got out of prison, but like 2 days
- 35:55before she got out of prison, she said that she wanted to go
- 35:59see Taylor Swift. And it.
- 36:03Wasn't a oh I want to go see Taylor Swift.
- 36:06No, it was AI want to go meet Taylor Swift.
- 36:10And in my mind that was just repeating the same thing over
- 36:16and over. You know, she was she was
- 36:18meeting the cast of Harry Potter.
- 36:20She was meeting Miranda Lambert and all of these famous people,
- 36:24and she was up on stage singing and.
- 36:29Now she just wants. To continue that, but on a
- 36:33larger scale. Yeah, I I find it you.
- 36:37Know this whole, like you said, this whole thing is fascinating.
- 36:40And you know, if it were me, and again, I'm kind of an, A well
- 36:45adjusted, relatively well adjusted adult that you know,
- 36:51you didn't, you know, you married this guy when you were
- 36:54in prison. You got out, you moving
- 36:55together. You it's not what you thought it
- 36:57was going to be. Well, well, no shit.
- 36:58Like you married him in prison and you're living together and
- 37:01you've never lived with a man. So of course there's going to be
- 37:03bumps in the road and you changed your mind.
- 37:05OK, fine. But then the back and forth the
- 37:08two of them have and then she has the baby.
- 37:11Like can you drive 3 1/2 hours to the hospital to sign this
- 37:14consent form? And like what?
- 37:17First of all, block him. Let your loyal lawyers deal with
- 37:20the shit and be done with it. Like I just the, you know, like
- 37:25you said, like she wants to be have like 1 toe in the pools for
- 37:30the the pool of drama. Like she never wants to like get
- 37:34herself out of it completely. And like the father and the
- 37:38stepmother like just don't engage and she does it anyway.
- 37:42The father says, Hey, Ken's back in your life, just use
- 37:45protection and she gets knocked up right away.
- 37:47It's like, Oh my God, like give yourself a chance to just be out
- 37:53and be single and like you, you know, you have like a life of
- 37:59neglect and abuse and trauma and then you go to prison.
- 38:02Like you're coming out like you should be hide.
- 38:05Like not that you should be hiding, but just live your life.
- 38:09Do like I want to like who's her therapist?
- 38:11Oh my God, I just want to ask like, what did they he or she
- 38:14doing? Well, and that's the thing.
- 38:16When she was in prison, she swears up and down that she
- 38:19couldn't get therapy because she was too healthy for therapy.
- 38:24But my cousin's in there. She's in a whole wing where it's
- 38:29called women's empowerment, you know, and they focus on
- 38:33codependency and they focus on, you know, being a better person.
- 38:39And Gypsy only took the one class that she was supposed to
- 38:43take, the victim's impact class. And she basically spent her time
- 38:51causing chaos and watching TV while she was in prison, not
- 38:55bettering herself, you know, And she was setting up her life to
- 39:00come out and be an influencer. You know, there was no.
- 39:07Gypsy has never taken the time to figure out who Gypsy is and
- 39:15work on all of her issues. It's always about codependency.
- 39:21And just like with this baby, I mean, she was, she was stealing
- 39:25baby clothes and, and naming babies when she was with
- 39:30Nicholas, you know, and planning on getting pregnant.
- 39:33That was her plan a was to get pregnant by Nicholas.
- 39:38And that's how she would escape her mother.
- 39:41And then when she was with Ryan, she was trying to get pregnant
- 39:45and she was buying baby clothes, you know, and then as soon as
- 39:48she gets with her, with Ken, she gets pregnant, you know, 'cause
- 39:52they said, you know, they were with each other 12 times in four
- 39:55days, you know, so. I mean, and the sister.
- 40:01Bless her, it like you know who's just graduated, became a
- 40:04nurse. Like she initially thinks she's
- 40:07pregnant with Ryan. The sister takes her to the drug
- 40:09store to get Plan B like you. So you knew where you could have
- 40:13gone. You could have bought condoms,
- 40:15you could have gone on birth control.
- 40:17Like that would have made the most sense, right?
- 40:19Like just I'm going to go on birth control because I'm going
- 40:22to be having sex and I need to focus on me and learning who I
- 40:26am without my mother, without the abuse and trauma, not in
- 40:30prison. Like figure out who you are and
- 40:33heal and then do you could still live your life and get the
- 40:39tattoos and dye your hair, but figure out who you are and stand
- 40:43on your own 2 feet. And it it does seem, you know,
- 40:47she's got a bit of her mother in her because, you know, as we
- 40:50kind of alluded to, like the mom got caught up in all the
- 40:53attention and the foundations and the stuff.
- 40:56And then now it seems like she, Gypsy is just kind of wanting to
- 41:00keep continue that because if it were me, I want to step back
- 41:03from the limelight and get out of the way.
- 41:06And you know, even, you know, she had that book signing and
- 41:10they had to have security all over the place because people
- 41:12were threatening her and things and, you know, they were
- 41:15threatening her. So I even watched.
- 41:18OK, so at. That book signing?
- 41:25OK, Sir Morbidex is a YouTube and I follow him and he's funny.
- 41:31He's more of like a Howard Stern kind of shock jock type guy.
- 41:36He's, he's really funny, you know, And so he set up that,
- 41:41that whole protest basically, and what it was, was just a
- 41:46couple of people outside. One woman went inside and, and
- 41:51bought a ticket and she wanted to actually, you know, get in
- 41:55line and talk to Gypsy or whatever.
- 41:56That was just one woman. But the rest of them, they're
- 42:00only like 3 or 4 of them that were actually outside.
- 42:04And they just had signs saying Justice for DD.
- 42:07And it was a live stream. The whole thing was live stream.
- 42:10So if anybody wants to go check it out, it's on Sir Morbinex.
- 42:15And that was just, it was, it was made to be something bigger
- 42:19than it was. And even that YouTube that drove
- 42:21past her house. Yeah, well, Gypsy wasn't home
- 42:25when that actually happened. And she wasn't calling out
- 42:30Gypsy. She was calling out Gypsy
- 42:31Stepmother. So.
- 42:37They they twist the whole, they twist everything.
- 42:40You know, that's just how it's expected to be, but you know it.
- 42:46She brings most of all of this stuff on herself.
- 42:50And if she would just have gotten out of prison, gone and
- 42:54lived her life quietly, worked on herself.
- 42:59People. Would have given her the benefit
- 43:01of the doubt, but because she has come out and.
- 43:06Tried to. Literally destroy lives online.
- 43:13You know, I I can't stand behind her.
- 43:16I can't. I can't give her the benefit of
- 43:18the doubt anymore. And it's unfortunate, but I
- 43:22can't. Yeah, I mean.
- 43:25It's I do think that, you know, the back and forth between her
- 43:29and Ryan I thought was way too much like and and that's on him
- 43:33too. I mean, the the two of them
- 43:35again have this codependent relationship and he's like, oh,
- 43:38I still miss her and I still love her.
- 43:40I'm like, dude, get a grip like a grown ass man, get a grip.
- 43:44Go to work. It will be OK like but she's.
- 43:48Sending him pictures of her and her baby and she was swearing
- 43:53online this whole time that he wasn't doing it, or I mean that
- 43:58she wasn't doing it and that he was reaching out to her.
- 44:02But then all of this evidence comes out that she was actually
- 44:05reaching out to him and sending him pictures of her and her
- 44:09baby. I mean, that's so messed up.
- 44:12I know it's and. A lot of twisted things going
- 44:15on. I'm like Oh my God, that baby
- 44:19and the. Timeline, OK.
- 44:20So usually when you're pregnant, you get your first sonogram
- 44:26around your 4th month usually because that's when you can
- 44:30start telling, you know, if it's a boy or a girl.
- 44:33And I don't know how it is nowadays, but at least when I
- 44:37had my kids 20 years ago, that's how it was, you know, so by.
- 44:43June 5th. Gypsy.
- 44:46Had already. Sent a picture of the sonogram
- 44:51to the prison. And I found out that she.
- 44:55Was pregnant, but in her book she says that she found out she
- 45:00was pregnant on June 10th, which is her the day that her mother
- 45:06died. Well, actually her mother died
- 45:08June 9th, but she says June 10th.
- 45:11And so if she found out on June 10th, but I found out on June
- 45:185th that she had already had a sonogram, did.
- 45:23She find out she was. Pregnant with a sonogram,
- 45:26because that's just weird. So I'm thinking about the
- 45:30timeline. You know what I mean?
- 45:32Yeah, I mean. I will tell you now that
- 45:35nowadays you can have, you know, an ultrasound, you know,
- 45:39earlier, especially if you miss a period, you know, maybe you're
- 45:43having some spotting, maybe there's some concerns.
- 45:46So they can do them earlier, but that's just to give you a
- 45:49guesstimate of how far along you are.
- 45:51And they're, you know, you know, are you, do we see a sack?
- 45:54Do we see things progressing? You know, do they do anatomy
- 45:57scan about 16 to 20 weeks based on, you know, your pregnancy,
- 46:01are you high risk or not? But yeah, I mean, that timeline
- 46:07was, you know, I always, you know, as a medical person, I,
- 46:11that's the thing that I always go to is the timeline.
- 46:16You know, I do kind of feel as though she and Ken should have
- 46:20known better and should have used protection.
- 46:22Like it just came out of prison. You're just reconnecting.
- 46:26Get just buy some frigging condoms at the, you know, at the
- 46:29local, you know, drugstore and like protect yourself like
- 46:34you've been out of prison not even a year.
- 46:36Like this was not the time for that to happen.
- 46:39Things will come in time, but just get again, give yourself
- 46:42that chance for healing and to live your life and figure you
- 46:46out and not throw more drama into it.
- 46:49And you wouldn't have this Ryan last name drama with the baby.
- 46:56It's like, watch that episode of Teen Mom.
- 46:58Like dear God. Yeah, no, it it's gotten.
- 47:04So the first season was extremely boring and I
- 47:07completely checked out of it. And then the second season has
- 47:11gotten better, but it's only because they're actually
- 47:15starting to expose her manipulation more.
- 47:18And so it's like, oh, OK, I can, I can see where you're going
- 47:21with that. But unfortunately they didn't do
- 47:24enough. So you know it is what it is.
- 47:29Father and stepmother are well-intentioned individuals.
- 47:34I just want to ask why does he always have his headphones on?
- 47:38Like why can't you take them off for a couple of minutes?
- 47:42So the. Stepmom is not well-intentioned.
- 47:46She is just as active online, participating in the gossip and
- 47:52the toxicity online. The dad, he's just kind of go
- 47:57with the flow out on the boat, you know, kind of mentality.
- 48:04So yeah, unfortunately the stepmother is immersed in all
- 48:07the drama as well. Super interesting.
- 48:13Case it is. So what?
- 48:17It where do you want to see things go or what do you think?
- 48:22They should. What direction?
- 48:23Do you think they should be heading?
- 48:26So I. Mean ideally.
- 48:36She's not going to go back to. Prison unless she messes up
- 48:39within the next few days, I mean because she gets off of parole I
- 48:43think June 15th or something like that, so.
- 48:50Ideally what I would like. To see is is.
- 48:53I would like to see her. Go off and live.
- 48:57Her life and be productive offline find get involved in her
- 49:04community and you know make a life for that baby that is out
- 49:15of the spotlight. I mean, she swore that she would
- 49:17never put her baby online, but the baby's online chronically
- 49:21now. So it's like, what the heck,
- 49:24You're just you're. Doing exactly.
- 49:27What you accused your mother of doing, exploiting you.
- 49:31Yeah, I don't. Follow her on social media.
- 49:34So, but I, I would have to agree, like I wish that she
- 49:37would just kind of just take a step back out of social media,
- 49:40get you, you know, get offline, tell, you know, Bree and you
- 49:45know, anybody else. And same thing with Ryan.
- 49:48Like he should back off too and stay away.
- 49:50Like just stay everybody, go to your corners and live your quiet
- 49:54lives and just take care of that baby 'cause like that's my big
- 49:58concern. You know, especially as a, a
- 50:00pediatric nurse who's seen a lot of child abuse and neglect.
- 50:03And I've seen a lot of kids die and parents do horrible,
- 50:06horrible things to their children.
- 50:07And I would like Gypsy to take care of herself and find herself
- 50:13so that she can be the best mom that she can be for for Aurora
- 50:19and, you know, so that Aurora doesn't, you know, suffer and
- 50:23get caught in in the crossfire, you know, and can you know, I
- 50:28something's not right. Like I can't put my finger on
- 50:33it, but I just well, is tingling with him.
- 50:37I'm like, I don't know what's going on here.
- 50:39Like, I don't think he's like bad, but I don't think he's
- 50:42good. Like there's something off.
- 50:44Well, first he wrote a prisoner. And then fell in love with her.
- 50:49And not just any ordinary prisoner, but a prisoner who
- 50:53murdered her mother and manipulated somebody into doing
- 50:57it. And she looked.
- 51:00Like she was, you know, 14 years old and a shaved head and all
- 51:06that stuff. So it's kind of weird, you know,
- 51:10that him and Ryan would write her.
- 51:12So yes, he is definitely weird on that front.
- 51:16I believe that Ken is the only person who's not afraid of her
- 51:23in her life, honestly, 'cause he's the only one that stands up
- 51:27to her. But I don't think that they love
- 51:32each other. I don't think they even like
- 51:33each other half the time. That's just apparent from the
- 51:38show, the way they interact. It's just not ideal at all.
- 51:45Yeah, and I can't like. I don't want to say he's on the
- 51:48spectrum, but he's close to it in my opinion.
- 51:53Oh, you're the they. People just started asking that
- 51:57question recently. Is he like I?
- 52:01I'm like he's. But he's he's got a job, like
- 52:04he's very obviously, he's got a decent car.
- 52:06He drives like he seems like you said, like he seems like he's
- 52:10kind of together, like he's not a hot mess.
- 52:13Yeah, he's a foodie. He even attempted to beef
- 52:16Wellington, which is. He's what?
- 52:22But again, I'm. Like I can't.
- 52:24And then you have Ryan, bless his little soul, who's just
- 52:29falling apart from this, and another one who's just, he
- 52:33probably, you know, the codependency is just the whole
- 52:36thing. You know, want.
- 52:39To do a. Psychological.
- 52:40Study and codependency. Just look at Ryan and Gypsy.
- 52:45Yes, yes. Exactly.
- 52:47And I mean, it's it's textbook totally.
- 52:50And with Ken, though, I think he I think he has some anger issues
- 52:55because in the last episode or the episode before that, he was
- 53:01even yelling at his mom, you know, and it's like you're going
- 53:05to yell at your mom on national TV.
- 53:07That's kind of weird, you know, So, and he wasn't even like he
- 53:13was just saying, you know, I don't care about these people,
- 53:16you know, and they're going to make up everything.
- 53:19But you know, the way he was speaking to his mom was not OK.
- 53:24So when when you're comfortable speaking to your mom like that
- 53:29on camera, what are you doing when the cameras are off, right?
- 53:36So do you think as someone who's watched the documentary and
- 53:42you've watched the TV show and you've also got inside
- 53:45information as as someone who is from that area and has seen, you
- 53:50know, additional documents that a lot of people probably haven't
- 53:53seen, Like what do you do? How accurate is the portrayal of
- 53:57her on the TV show versus what you think is her true
- 54:02personality? So.
- 54:08I think you kind of really do see her true personality shine
- 54:13through because she if you listen to the things she says
- 54:19and watch the things she does, you know her, her true
- 54:22personality does shine through. But as far as like the overall
- 54:27media portrayal of Gypsy, it is absolutely inaccurate.
- 54:33It it is so far inaccurate. It's it's sad and it's kind, you
- 54:41know, especially the fact that there is an autistic man in
- 54:45prison for life without parole. You.
- 54:50Know he. Deserves to be there, you know,
- 54:54but at the same time. Like you brought up Manson.
- 55:00Earlier, Manson manipulated people into murdering people.
- 55:07That's essentially what Gypsy did.
- 55:10She manipulated A vulnerable person to commit murder, and
- 55:18Manson manipulated vulnerable people to commit murder.
- 55:29Yeah, I you know. I do have to wonder and think
- 55:35about, you know, some of the things that you know, as I was,
- 55:38you know, as I'm watching the show and I'm going, I don't know
- 55:41if I would have done that. Like just you're out of.
- 55:45Prison. You know, there's a lot of
- 55:47negativity about you in the press and on social media.
- 55:53And is this how we should be handling this?
- 55:57Like, I question, you know, a lot of the things that she does
- 56:01and some of those things being the breeze response and
- 56:04reactions to things. And I'm defending and listen, I
- 56:07get it. Like I have a couple besties
- 56:08that I would probably die for, but I'm not sure that that's the
- 56:13way to go about join it. And like you said, I just wish
- 56:16she would maybe get off of social media and just go live
- 56:23your life quietly and. Just be exist.
- 56:28And take care of you and your daughter and you know it's.
- 56:32Almost like. She needs to be in a
- 56:35relationship because she does not know how to take care of
- 56:38herself and she needs to be cared for.
- 56:40And that's why she married Ryan and knowing that she would come
- 56:45out of prison and someone would take care of her and then
- 56:47realize, OK, this isn't the right guy.
- 56:49We're not really Jelly and living together and I'm going to
- 56:52go with this guy, but I really want a baby.
- 56:54So I'll have a baby and then I could take care of the baby.
- 56:57But again, who's going to be taking care of her and the baby
- 57:01is still the question. And she needs to figure out how
- 57:03to take care of her Dang self. Yeah, well, I mean if.
- 57:06You even watch the show, so I watch it with other people
- 57:10'cause they stream it on TikTok on Mondays.
- 57:14Conspiracy. Go check out Conspiracy.
- 57:18She's the one that does that. And yeah, So what you notice is,
- 57:24is that she's got signs all over the house telling her what to do
- 57:29or telling Ken what to do. And it's like signs that are
- 57:35like really weird, like after three minutes burp or whatever,
- 57:39I can't remember everything but it, it's just like a normal
- 57:44person wouldn't do that. Maybe they would make a
- 57:47checklist or something like that but not put up signs all over
- 57:51the house to remind them about. What to do?
- 57:56With the baby. It's very odd.
- 58:02So he does not know how to take care of herself, let alone her
- 58:06baby. Yeah, I I think that you.
- 58:08Know that would be you know what I would hope for that she learns
- 58:12how to focus to take care of that baby and do right by that
- 58:15baby because you are in the public eye and it won't take but
- 58:19that quick somebody makes a phone call.
- 58:21Do you know Department of Child Services?
- 58:23And they have been and they have.
- 58:26Been and that's. The that's the sad thing too is,
- 58:30is that when it comes to Gypsy, people will call her parole
- 58:35officer or they'll call DCF to the point now where if something
- 58:41really does happen, are they going to take it seriously,
- 58:45right? And.
- 58:47So I wish people would be more responsible, more adults when
- 58:55they're dealing with this situation and try to see it from
- 59:00a logical standpoint, but unfortunately emotions get way
- 59:05crazy when it comes to stuff like this, right?
- 59:08Well, Gypsy, if you're listening, we will, you know,
- 59:11pray for you and your baby and that you have good health and in
- 59:16your future endeavors. And thank you again, Amber, for
- 59:19coming on tonight and having a very interesting discussion
- 59:21about this case that I'm sure we're going to be continue to be
