Transcript
- 0:03SPEAKER_03: Well, hey everybody, welcome to yet another exciting episode of the Steve and Jeff Show.
- 0:09SPEAKER_03: I'm Steve.
- 0:10SPEAKER_03: And this is Jeff.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: How's it going, Steve?
- 0:12SPEAKER_03: Jeff, Jeff, it is so exciting.
- 0:15SPEAKER_03: You know, we're into we're into the fall.
- 0:18SPEAKER_03: We're into Halloween season.
- 0:19SPEAKER_03: And you know, like always happens around Halloween, things are getting a little odd, things are getting a little scary, things are becoming eldritch.
- 0:28SPEAKER_03: And I don't even know what that means, unless we're talking about that that Panther guy that wrote that book.
- 0:32SPEAKER_03: But I but I digress.
- 0:33SPEAKER_03: But but Jeff, it is so interesting going into this time where we are controlling our means of production.
- 0:40SPEAKER_03: And that is good.
- 0:41SPEAKER_03: But Jeff, there are some weird things going on.
- 0:43SPEAKER_03: And I I thought, and tonight I think we're we're gonna have to address some of those.
- 0:47SPEAKER_03: But Jeff, I I hear you've had some some difficulties lately.
- 0:50SPEAKER_03: Uh, were you you were running for speaker of the house, I heard, or something?
- 0:53SPEAKER_03: What what was that?
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, I was the deciding vote, you know, to to elect Congressman Jordan, but I I got sick, and you know, I can't seem to shake it, so I wasn't able to cast the vote.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: So you know, kind of screwed that up a little bit.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Um, do you have to give the check back?
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: As you can probably hear, I still am a little bit sick.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: It feels like I'm getting better, but you know, these things have ways of taking turns for the worse, and you know, I'm not quite sure.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: And the other thing, Steve, is I don't remember last year.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: Did we do a um a Halloween special?
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: I don't remember.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: We we did not, Jeff.
- 1:29SPEAKER_03: We did not.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: So this is our first.
- 1:31SPEAKER_03: This is a first, this is a Halloween show, and we're going to we're gonna take it to the limit on this Halloween show.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: We're gonna go, in fact, beyond what normally would be accepted as the limit.
- 1:42SPEAKER_03: We're actually going to take it a little further than the limit.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: You know, I've always found our show very creepy and scary.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: So this should be this should fit in quite nicely.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: I think, in some ways, all of our episodes are Halloween specials, but this one, you know, even more so.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: So uh but you're right, Steve.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Strange stuff is going on.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: I'm in Chicago here right now, and it's 80 degrees.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: What are the odds of that?
- 2:06SPEAKER_03: And and this great producer crisis of 2023.
- 2:10SPEAKER_03: We still have not, which I can't believe that the media is not making more of this.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: I haven't read about it anywhere, Jeff, other than our show.
- 2:18SPEAKER_03: And Fox.
- 2:19SPEAKER_03: And Fox.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: Well, yeah, yeah, but they but they made it up.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: No, we're telling the real story here.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: But yeah, it's a it's a scary time, uh, in a lot of ways, but exciting also.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm excited because I think we have another guest, although I'm not quite sure.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: We do.
- 2:35SPEAKER_03: Oh, we have we uh Jeff, Jeff, tonight's guest.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: Let me tell you, we have a great guest.
- 2:40SPEAKER_03: But I was gonna say, you know, you are very that's very correct.
- 2:44SPEAKER_03: That when things are scary, it creates great opportunity.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: There's an old Javanese proverb that when it basically loosely translated when you're scared, it's time to run.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: And I think I think I couldn't have said it any better myself.
- 2:58SPEAKER_03: We're running, Jeff.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: We are running.
- 3:00SPEAKER_03: You actually did say it yourself.
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: So there you go.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: I knew I heard it somewhere, but I digress.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: But Jeff, Jeff, tonight, you know who we've got on the other side of the glass?
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: Let me tap the glass.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: You know who we've got on the other side of that glass, Jeff?
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: I don't, you know, I used to say it was my dad, which reminds me, you know, nothing scarier than going trick-or-treating at a prison, right?
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: So we might want to do a live show, maybe from Joliet.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, at some point.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: Do a live show at Stateville?
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh, that would be well.
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: Every day is Halloween over there, you know.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Every day is Halloween.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, um, but no, I don't know who our guest is.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: Who is uh because I've been gone and six.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: Jeff, oh Jeff, Jeff, the perfect Halloween guest, and the perfect guest for a Halloween where we are trying to contact someone who has vanished from the face of the earth.
- 3:48SPEAKER_03: Jeff, this is the perfect guest for that.
- 3:50SPEAKER_03: On the other side of that glass, one more tap.
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: We have someone who can help us get in touch with our producer.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: This on the other side of the glass, there is Madame Bolshetsky.
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: And Madame Bolshevsky is a medium.
- 4:03SPEAKER_03: In fact, she runs a she has a she has her own podcast, just like we do.
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: She has her own podcast.
- 4:08SPEAKER_03: It's called The Rare Medium.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: Uh, she also wrote a book, which I think we're going to talk about the book here.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: The book is called Put the Romance Back into Necromance: How to Have a Paranormal Dating Life.
- 4:19SPEAKER_03: So I think certainly there's going to be a lot of a lot of questions on that, I'm sure.
- 4:23SPEAKER_03: So why don't we just bring her on here?
- 4:25SPEAKER_03: Madam Bolshetsky, welcome to the show.
- 4:28SPEAKER_04: Oh, yes.
- 4:28SPEAKER_04: Thank you, Steve, and thank you, Jeff.
- 4:31SPEAKER_04: So happy to be here on your show.
- 4:34SPEAKER_04: I thought I do not understand why you think I am the perfect Halloween guest.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: Because you see things that others don't, you talk to people others can't.
- 4:45SPEAKER_04: And this is a Halloween thing?
- 4:47SPEAKER_04: The talk you're talking to the spirits.
- 4:50SPEAKER_03: Well, yeah, I usually every Halloween I get I try to get good and drunk, so I talk to the spirits myself.
- 4:55SPEAKER_04: Oh, this is this is very close-minded of you.
- 4:58SPEAKER_04: No, and it's limiting to my practice.
- 5:01SPEAKER_04: I I do this work year round.
- 5:04SPEAKER_04: This is this is a livelihood for me.
- 5:06SPEAKER_04: It's not just a Halloween uh gimmick.
- 5:09SPEAKER_04: This is my life.
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: Oh, yes, and I imagine your your podcast goes all year round, so yes, absolutely thank you for plugging it.
- 5:17SPEAKER_04: I know some people get weird about plugging podcasts on podcasts, but thank you.
- 5:22SPEAKER_03: Well, she's gonna plug our podcast on her podcast F soft.
- 5:25SPEAKER_03: So I think yeah, for sure.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: But I think madam, you know, I'm a bit of a linguistic person or a linguist.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, or I don't care about your private life, Jeff.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: But it's my favorite, favorite kind of spaghetti.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: So uh so my my question is am I hearing a little bit of Israeli, maybe with a little French thrown on top?
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: I think it depends what news you've been listening to lately.
- 5:50SPEAKER_03: Ah it's Israeli, but it's kind of southwest Israeli, if you know what I mean.
- 5:54SPEAKER_03: It's kind of there's a little some Egyptian inflection, a little Gaza inflection in there.
- 6:00SPEAKER_03: A little Gaza, yeah.
- 6:01SPEAKER_04: I'm already uncomfortable with this line of questions about my information.
- 6:05SPEAKER_03: Oh, yes, yes.
- 6:06SPEAKER_03: But we digress, madam.
- 6:08SPEAKER_04: I mean, I I live in Bellevue.
- 6:10SPEAKER_03: Oh, well Bellevue, yeah.
- 6:12SPEAKER_03: Bellevue's a beautiful place.
- 6:13SPEAKER_04: Hey, uh yes, it's lovely.
- 6:16SPEAKER_04: Have you have you been?
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: Oh, absolutely, yes.
- 6:18SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm in Bellevue every day, in fact.
- 6:20SPEAKER_03: So, yes, I'm there constantly.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: So I've been to the hospital.
- 6:24SPEAKER_04: So lovely, isn't it?
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: Jeff, Jeff was a well, that's the other Bellevue for a while, but yeah.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: Oh you're better now.
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: You're you know, we think, but uh but madam, but we digress.
- 6:36SPEAKER_03: But madam, how did you get involved in being a medium?
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: And I I must just say, I mean, you call yourself a medium, but I think I think she could wear a small Jeff.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: I really do.
- 6:46SPEAKER_04: I mean, I don't I think a medium is oh if only, if only.
- 6:54SPEAKER_04: It has been passed down through generations, my family.
- 6:58SPEAKER_04: We've always had this um the calling, you know.
- 7:02SPEAKER_04: We have uh the the there's the sh the shine, you know, that uh you we've we hear the voices they speak through us.
- 7:11SPEAKER_04: And um, you know, my mother had it, and her mother had it.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: That's as far back as I've ever.
- 7:17SPEAKER_04: I don't I did not know my great-grandmother, so I I don't know.
- 7:21SPEAKER_04: I mean, I assume.
- 7:22SPEAKER_03: But you could you could probably talk to her though.
- 7:25SPEAKER_04: Well, you know, the funny thing is, is whenever I try to reach out to my own family line, it's like they have no time for me.
- 7:33SPEAKER_04: They're not, you know, like like, hey, we are blood.
- 7:36SPEAKER_04: Why why are you out there like acting like you're too good to talk to me?
- 7:41SPEAKER_04: Like, come on.
- 7:42SPEAKER_04: I think they're uncomfortable with the um the level of openness I have with my podcast and uh my book.
- 7:49SPEAKER_04: They think it's gauche, perhaps.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: Oh, yes, because typically, typically mediums would practice more in in secret and kind of uh kind of cloak their their their talents, their skills.
- 8:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, cowards they are.
- 8:04SPEAKER_04: They they lack the entrepreneurial spirit.
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: Yes, exactly.
- 8:08SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 8:09SPEAKER_03: They don't and well, and they probably don't have a producer, is probably part of the part of the problem that they're not they'd they'd be out there more if they had producers, right?
- 8:17SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: Yes, you need the team to guide you.
- 8:19SPEAKER_03: You do, exactly, yes.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Now, do you remember uh Madam Medium, Madam Medium, Madam Rare?
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: Okay, uh, do you remember do you remember the first time that you contacted somebody from the other side?
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: Is I don't know if that's the right term.
- 8:36SPEAKER_04: Certainly a fine term to use, yes.
- 8:39SPEAKER_04: I would some call it the other side, some call it the great beyond.
- 8:45SPEAKER_04: Uh it depends what your flair for theatricality is.
- 8:50SPEAKER_03: Well, we're pretty theatrical, so we could call it the great beyond.
- 8:54SPEAKER_03: I kind of like that.
- 8:56SPEAKER_03: I'm like, yeah, yeah.
- 8:58SPEAKER_04: Uh you know, it's when I started, I would I was very small a child, and I would receive messages.
- 9:05SPEAKER_04: They would come to me in my cereal.
- 9:08SPEAKER_03: Oh wow.
- 9:09SPEAKER_03: So you're you're just eating sitting there eating rice krispies and you and you suddenly see a message.
- 9:14SPEAKER_04: Well, it wasn't rice krispies.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: Oh, oh, see, that's probably the trick.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: See, I used to eat rice krispies.
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: I never got any, I just got you know, cavities.
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: The only message I ever got from uh rice krispies was snap crackle pop.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: Ah, okay.
- 9:28SPEAKER_03: Ah, yes, yes.
- 9:30SPEAKER_04: More of an onomatopoeia than a message.
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: Ah, yeah.
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: So you would but you would actually get these messages as a child.
- 9:36SPEAKER_04: You'd start to see my in my in my alphabet serial, I would get messages sent to me.
- 9:42SPEAKER_04: And I would say, Mother, mother, look, look at this message.
- 9:46SPEAKER_04: Someone is trying to contact me through my cereal.
- 9:49SPEAKER_04: And she would say, Yeah, they're saying, hurry up and eat, you're late for school.
- 9:54SPEAKER_03: Were the messages were they was it kind of like mad libs where it was messages like refrigerator, magnet, turbo, dinner?
- 10:02SPEAKER_04: That came later, yes.
- 10:03SPEAKER_04: That came later, okay.
- 10:05SPEAKER_04: Uh-huh.
- 10:06SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 10:06SPEAKER_04: No, they the the serial messages were were very they were very vague, very and and somewhat passive aggressive.
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: But as I grew older, you know, the messages become clearer.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: I used to get messages.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: I remember the first time I ever did it was with a Ouija board.
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: And you have opened the gateway to the other side.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: I have.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: Yes, and that was always very scary for me.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: You know, most of the time it didn't work, which made me think that I was gonna die, but I didn't.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: Wait, let me hold on, hold on.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: Yes, yes, I can confirm this.
- 10:41SPEAKER_04: You are alive currently.
- 10:43SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 10:44SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, she she got a message right here on the show, Jeff, right here in the eccentric lady.
- 10:49SPEAKER_04: Sometimes it's hard.
- 10:50SPEAKER_04: I I get these, I get contacted so often now, so many of the dead, always yakky, yakky, yakking, wanting to get my attention, and it gets distracting.
- 11:00SPEAKER_04: I sometimes get lines crossed whether I'm speaking to the dead or I'm speaking to the living person behind the register at McDonald's.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: Do you ever pick up random people?
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: Like, like for example, we're missing our producer.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: She's been gone for how long, Steve?
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: Uh uh, you know, it seems like months, months, months, yeah.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, months.
- 11:26SPEAKER_04: You're you are fearing, you're you're feeling their absence in your heart.
- 11:29SPEAKER_04: You're missing them very much.
- 11:31SPEAKER_04: Well, my wallet, yeah.
- 11:34SPEAKER_03: Oh, pretty much.
- 11:35SPEAKER_03: We kind of we kind of got ghosted, and that's why I thought who better to talk to somebody who uh ghosted us than somebody who talks to ghosts, all right.
- 11:44SPEAKER_04: You know, you have absolutely come to the right person, Stephen Chelsea.
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: Oh, absolutely.
- 11:49SPEAKER_03: Oh, Jeff, this is so exciting.
- 11:51SPEAKER_03: I think what we should do, we're gonna talk a little more about your book and your podcast, but but I think later in the show, I would like to see if we could actually contact our producer, Chelsea is her name.
- 12:02SPEAKER_03: I want to see if we can actually contact her on the show live here in the studio.
- 12:08SPEAKER_04: Wow, that would be amazing.
- 12:09SPEAKER_04: For this, for for for you gentlemen, this I will do.
- 12:13SPEAKER_03: Wow, wow.
- 12:14SPEAKER_03: Well, guys, before we do that, Jeff, I gotta tell you, we've got a repeat sponsor.
- 12:20SPEAKER_03: Wonderful.
- 12:21SPEAKER_03: You know how things are going strangely and things are going oddly.
- 12:25SPEAKER_03: And they are one of the things that's going oddly is that did you know that the good people on both sides at Appropriation Station have now bought our favorite Vietnamese soup restaurant?
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: They did.
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: It's really they own it now.
- 12:40SPEAKER_03: Boy, I tell you, those those Anglos are pushing the ethnics all the way out and they're taking over the ethnic market.
- 12:46SPEAKER_03: I'll tell you, it's happening.
- 12:48SPEAKER_03: But uh, they wanted to run a commercial for that great Vietnamese restaurant, and they said no reason to change it, just let them know that it's now owned by Appropriation Station.
- 12:58SPEAKER_03: So, Jeff, I think uh why don't we uh why don't we play the tape?
- 13:01SPEAKER_03: Perfect.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: If you want the best Vietnamese pha soup in the metro area, try some hearty pha at the King of Asian Fusion, Fa King.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: Bring your friends and enjoy the Fa King ambience.
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: Or if you're in a hurry, you can take some home from our special Fa King drive-thru.
- 13:22SPEAKER_03: Serve your whole family with a pha king kettle, or spoil yourself with our individual serving pho cups.
- 13:29SPEAKER_03: Our loyal customers often have a pho cup at home, a pho cup in the car, or even a fuck up at work.
- 13:35SPEAKER_03: Wherever you go, you can have a pho cup of your very own.
- 13:39SPEAKER_03: And we're more than just pho and pho king, we also have fa king barbecue, fa king salads, and pho king sandwiches.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: Everything we serve is made with our own special fa king love and care.
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: Join our king and queen club and we will treat you like fa king royalty.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: You haven't had pho until you've had fa king pha.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: It's not just good, it's fa king good.
- 14:06SPEAKER_03: You know, Jeff, I sure hope that those good people at Appropriation Station don't mess with that recipe because I love that soup.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: I tell you, it is good stuff.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: And you know, I could use some now given I'm not feeling well, but did you notice the music in the background, Steve?
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: Very creepy, very creepy, scary.
- 14:23SPEAKER_03: Yes, it's it's sort of I don't think I noticed it before.
- 14:26SPEAKER_03: It's sort of like a Southeast Asian Halloween, if you will.
- 14:30SPEAKER_03: You know, it's it's kind of it's kind of scary, but but ethnic at the same time.
- 14:34SPEAKER_03: It's it's perfect, it really does it all.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: Definitely has a Florida kind of Miami feel to it.
- 14:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, oh yeah, yeah.
- 14:41SPEAKER_03: It was well, you know, Miami or uh Marco Island, maybe is is kind of what I was thinking, but but I digress.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: But uh big Asian population there.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but well, Marco, Marco Polo, Marco Polo.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: Marco Polo.
- 14:54SPEAKER_03: You know, brought that spaghetti back to Italy.
- 14:56SPEAKER_03: I mean, what the heck, you know?
- 14:57SPEAKER_03: So good for him.
- 14:59SPEAKER_03: And if it wasn't for him, uh we wouldn't be eating pasta today, but we digress.
- 15:03SPEAKER_04: Was that the first instance of a door dash?
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: That was a very long door.
- 15:08SPEAKER_03: I hope they tipped him.
- 15:10SPEAKER_03: Yes, because he brought that a very long way.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: They probably said, Hey, what kept you?
- 15:15SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 15:15SPEAKER_04: I mean, thinking about how good we have it now, and back then you want to order from Uber Eats, and it has to be shipped to you over boat over many weeks.
- 15:27SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 15:28SPEAKER_04: These are the types of things that the spirits complain to me about about oh, you have it so good now.
- 15:34SPEAKER_04: Oh, you you can have cuisine from all around the world delivered to your house in 30 minutes or less.
- 15:41SPEAKER_03: Oh, absolutely.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: Yes, yes.
- 15:44SPEAKER_03: So, madam, have you worked on any celebrity cases, any celebrity contacts that we would know?
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: Any people that maybe have have disappeared from the scene that you've talked to?
- 15:56SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 15:57SPEAKER_04: Are you trying to get me to name drop Steve?
- 16:02SPEAKER_03: Well, you know, I we've discovered that name-dropping leads to hashtagging, and hashtagging brings listeners.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: So, yes.
- 16:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, yes.
- 16:09SPEAKER_04: So you you would like me to tell you about some of my my famous spirit clients from the celebrity world to up your SEO content.
- 16:18SPEAKER_03: Oh, absolutely.
- 16:20SPEAKER_03: See, she's she's got the ancient arts, but she's into modern technology.
- 16:24SPEAKER_03: This is celebrating reading our minds, Steve.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: It's like it's like we're an open book.
- 16:28SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 16:29SPEAKER_04: If you're not into, I mean, if you're not on the cutting edge, then you're you are falling behind.
- 16:36SPEAKER_04: You might as well be a spirit yourself.
- 16:39SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 16:40SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 16:40SPEAKER_03: So now you I understand you have worked on pretty some pretty celebrated cases.
- 16:44SPEAKER_03: I think you talked about some in your book, which I I read some of, but I I kind of skipped a few of the parts.
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: But I I I think you I think you talked about some of those in there.
- 16:53SPEAKER_04: Oh, yes.
- 16:54SPEAKER_04: And the book is it is it's it is a guide uh for your your lifelong journey.
- 16:59SPEAKER_04: It is meant to be picked up, read, and put that.
- 17:02SPEAKER_04: It's like you don't read the Bible in one sitting, you want to just pick up the little, you know, the little the bits here and there that really apply to your life in the moment.
- 17:12SPEAKER_04: This is my book.
- 17:13SPEAKER_04: Wow, and I've these you would not believe some of the spirits that call to me from the great beyond, and they tell me these these these hallowed souls, and they hear, oh, who is that?
- 17:29SPEAKER_04: Who is that screaming to me?
- 17:31SPEAKER_04: Is that Laurie Laughlin?
- 17:33SPEAKER_04: Aunt Becky from Fallhouse.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, I love that child.
- 17:39SPEAKER_04: She speaks to me from the great beyond.
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: Boy, you've talked to some people that have really disappeared.
- 17:45SPEAKER_04: Yes, yes.
- 17:47SPEAKER_04: She calls out to me as if locked behind the bars of the spirit world.
- 17:54SPEAKER_03: Oh my goodness.
- 17:56SPEAKER_03: Well, that explains why she hasn't been on TV lately, you know.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 18:06SPEAKER_04: Yes, it's very hard.
- 18:07SPEAKER_04: They're not photogenic, these spirits.
- 18:10SPEAKER_04: And oh yeah, that is why I stay in business, you know.
- 18:13SPEAKER_04: If anyone could just walk in the room and see them, then what am I good for?
- 18:18SPEAKER_04: No, you need the conduit, you need the medium to harness those voices.
- 18:23SPEAKER_04: And you go, Oh, who is that I hear?
- 18:27SPEAKER_04: And you realize it is M.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: Knight Shyamalan.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: Ooh, wow, he's scary by himself.
- 18:36SPEAKER_04: You know, and and just with my dropping his name, would you consider that a twist?
- 18:41SPEAKER_03: Oh, that is twist.
- 18:43SPEAKER_04: One of his twists well, and it explains what's happened to the last few of his movies, too.
- 18:48SPEAKER_03: I you know, yeah, but but I digress.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: But I wonder he's directing new movies?
- 18:53SPEAKER_04: No, these are these are being ghost-written.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: Now, when you do find somebody who has you know gone to the other side, like like Lori, yes, do you ever contact their relatives?
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: Like, I think she has a daughter that probably would be interested in knowing where she's at.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: Have you have you reached out to people like that?
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: Does M have like a son named G or you know, something like that?
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Or I think is that his son's name?
- 19:21SPEAKER_03: Should be should be N, probably, because you know, just the alphabet, you know.
- 19:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was probably yes, alphabetical is yes, of course.
- 19:28SPEAKER_03: This kid will be oh, you know, yeah, you know, yeah.
- 19:31SPEAKER_04: Yes, his his father L.
- 19:33SPEAKER_03: Father L, yeah.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yes.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, do you ever reach out to them and do they believe you when you when you tell them that you've been in contact?
- 19:41SPEAKER_04: You know how it is with family.
- 19:43SPEAKER_04: It's it is it is hard to lose a loved one, and you you find yourself in a deep sense of denial.
- 19:49SPEAKER_04: They say, I father, he's not dead.
- 19:52SPEAKER_04: He just corrected Dave Batista in a film about the apocalypse.
- 19:58SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, that doesn't sound right.
- 20:01SPEAKER_04: Those words don't make sense to me.
- 20:02SPEAKER_04: You're fooling yourself.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: Well well, madam.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: I if if you if you are ready, I think we are I think we'd like to talk to our producer.
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: Oh, yes.
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: Do we do we need to sit in a circle or anything?
- 20:17SPEAKER_03: I I think I've I've I've got some music that I think will help.
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: I'll play.
- 20:21SPEAKER_04: Is it more of the from the far restaurant?
- 20:24SPEAKER_04: Is it more of that Ferriman music?
- 20:26SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's ethereal, but it's different.
- 20:30SPEAKER_03: So it's the same, but it's not.
- 20:32SPEAKER_04: I appreciate this.
- 20:33SPEAKER_04: You've gone to great lengths to make me feel at home in your company, and I appreciate it.
- 20:37SPEAKER_03: Least we can do.
- 20:38SPEAKER_03: Oh, absolutely.
- 20:39SPEAKER_03: And I will I I will not play the music now, but I will add it in post, so you won't hear it now.
- 20:45SPEAKER_04: But oh, that's scary.
- 20:46SPEAKER_04: Oh, see, but I will, but I will, I will sense the music, I will feel it flow through me.
- 20:52SPEAKER_04: Oh well, to oh what what is what is post-production, if not the technological spirit world, the great beyond.
- 21:02SPEAKER_04: That's true, the life that comes after the recording.
- 21:05SPEAKER_03: It's kind of manipulating the spirit in the afterlife of the show.
- 21:08SPEAKER_04: In a sense, you are being a medium for the production value of your podcast.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: Well, that's right.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: And we know and and you just you know break it down.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Post is after yes, production is production, yes.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: So you have after production, so this would be and I think that says it all.
- 21:30SPEAKER_04: Jeffrey, you have nailed it on the head as if it were a zombie that you were striking to death.
- 21:36SPEAKER_03: Now, with the with the glass here in the studio, I don't know that we can actually sit in the circle and hold hands, but if we if we put our hands on the window, would that be good enough?
- 21:45SPEAKER_04: Yes, I believe that uh because we are in a space where well now, okay.
- 21:51SPEAKER_04: Let me for clarification, this producer have they ever been on the job before?
- 21:56SPEAKER_04: Or how how early in the process was the ghosting?
- 21:59SPEAKER_03: You know, it depends on how you.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: To find on the job.
- 22:01SPEAKER_03: I mean, she was on a show with us, but that's maybe the extent.
- 22:06SPEAKER_04: I'm saying because if if I can if if she has left her sort of spiritual thumbprints, fingerprints uh around in this space, then then yes, the glass is not a problem.
- 22:20SPEAKER_04: We would we the conduit will be strong enough that if we could just press our hands close to each other, I can make the connection.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: Oh madam, she was in that very room that you're she was sitting in the very chair that you're you're sitting in right now.
- 22:34SPEAKER_04: How fortuitous! Oh yes, I I I I thought I felt something as soon as I came in this room.
- 22:40SPEAKER_04: I thought there is a spectre of death looming around here.
- 22:44SPEAKER_04: I assumed it was Jeff, but it might be your producer, Chelsea.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, wait, wow.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: So you're sensing death.
- 22:52SPEAKER_04: Yes, oh yes, it it stinks of death in this room, like an old Rubin sandwich.
- 23:00SPEAKER_03: Well, they they don't really clean the studio that often.
- 23:03SPEAKER_03: It's this is like the the lowest cost room, and they clean it a couple times a year, I think.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: All right, this is creeping me out because I had a Rubin sandwich for dinner.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: So of course you did, yes.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 23:15SPEAKER_03: And you ate it over there, didn't you?
- 23:17SPEAKER_03: You were sitting over there.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: I remember I was, I was sitting there.
- 23:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you were sitting over there, yeah.
- 23:21SPEAKER_03: In the Chelsea chair, if you will.
- 23:23SPEAKER_03: Well, all right, my my hands are up against the window.
- 23:25SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 23:26SPEAKER_03: Yes, all right.
- 23:27SPEAKER_03: Cue the music.
- 23:29unknown: Okay.
- 23:30SPEAKER_04: Feeling it.
- 23:31SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 23:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:34SPEAKER_04: I I usually have candles lit about.
- 23:36SPEAKER_04: I I wasn't prepared for this.
- 23:38SPEAKER_04: Um, so if um if you could just um ignite the uh flashlights on your cellular phones, I think it will kind of simulate the the essence of the candle.
- 23:49SPEAKER_03: I'll turn it on.
- 23:49SPEAKER_03: Jeff, you could probably just just light a joint, I think.
- 23:52SPEAKER_03: That would that would be good, right?
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: I could, shall I?
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: Smoke them when you've got them.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: Go ahead, yeah.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'll right.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: I'll light a second one.
- 24:00SPEAKER_04: It's a doubling as a candle and also a sense of insense.
- 24:04SPEAKER_04: Oh, I'll take one.
- 24:04SPEAKER_03: I'll take one.
- 24:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:05SPEAKER_03: Okay, all right.
- 24:06SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 24:07SPEAKER_04: All right, all right, yeah.
- 24:09SPEAKER_04: Hands pressed together.
- 24:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:12SPEAKER_04: The conduit is made.
- 24:16SPEAKER_04: I feel a presence.
- 24:18SPEAKER_04: There was a the oh, hold on.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: This this spirit is very hard to nail down here.
- 24:24SPEAKER_04: I'm I keep let me let me.
- 24:27SPEAKER_04: Sounds like Chelsea.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: That's her.
- 24:28SPEAKER_04: That's her.
- 24:29SPEAKER_04: That's her.
- 24:29SPEAKER_04: Is that being very evasive?
- 24:32SPEAKER_04: Oh yes, oh yeah, yeah.
- 24:35SPEAKER_04: Chelsea, Chelsea, can you hear me?
- 24:37SPEAKER_04: Chelsea, please.
- 24:39SPEAKER_04: Please.
- 24:40SPEAKER_04: Do not do not be afraid.
- 24:42SPEAKER_04: Do not run away.
- 24:44SPEAKER_04: We we want to speak to you from the great beyond.
- 24:48SPEAKER_04: Okay, she's like she she's like acting like she's got a phone call, like she's got like her hand to her forehead, and like holding like one finger up at me, like uh-uh, wait a minute.
- 25:00SPEAKER_04: And like I'm I can tell that like there's nobody on that phone.
- 25:05SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 25:06SPEAKER_03: No, uh no, she she didn't pay for her service.
- 25:08SPEAKER_03: That service got canceled months ago.
- 25:09SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 25:10SPEAKER_03: No, that's but that's her move, Steve.
- 25:12SPEAKER_03: That is.
- 25:13SPEAKER_04: I have never gotten the brush off from a spirit in this way.
- 25:18SPEAKER_04: This is very rude.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, you should have seen what it was like when she was alive.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, talk about brush-offs.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: But you know what?
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: I wish her well.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Can you let just let her know that I you know we're thinking about her, especially when we're trying to set up our social media strategy.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: Um, but that that we really miss her and what she was going to do for us.
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: And that, and that we we would just want to help her move on.
- 25:46SPEAKER_03: Yes, move on to the to the the next the next world, whatever that might be.
- 25:53SPEAKER_04: Well, I've got good news for you, gentlemen.
- 25:57SPEAKER_04: The the feeling I am getting from her is that she has definitely moved on, like she has not given you a second thought or third or fourth.
- 26:07SPEAKER_04: Uh that's good in there.
- 26:08SPEAKER_03: I told you, Jeff.
- 26:09SPEAKER_03: See, yeah.
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: Uh that's what what they say, huh?
- 26:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:12SPEAKER_03: You're right.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: Like, she's very moved on.
- 26:15SPEAKER_04: Like, oh yeah.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: Gives me satisfaction, gives me a sense of closure.
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, this is great.
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: Um, which is great.
- 26:20SPEAKER_04: This is why I do this.
- 26:22SPEAKER_04: This is yeah, this is what it brings, it makes my heart full, you know.
- 26:27SPEAKER_04: It's it's one thing to be a famous podcaster and author and local celebrity, but to give the sense of closure to people, this is why I do this.
- 26:40SPEAKER_04: Oh gosh.
- 26:40SPEAKER_03: Yo, and man, my gosh, we could talk forever here, but I I see that that engineer's doing that little wrap-up thing, and I think they're gonna kick us out of eccentrically in the studios here.
- 26:49SPEAKER_04: But you see him too.
- 26:51SPEAKER_04: Oh, I love another spirit.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: Oh, no, no, he's right over there.
- 26:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, he's he's here.
- 26:55SPEAKER_03: No, he's no, he's definitely here.
- 26:57SPEAKER_04: Sometimes it's hard, especially thank you so much, though.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, thank you.
- 27:02SPEAKER_03: We'd love to have you back and listen to that podcast, ladies and gentlemen, the rare medium, and uh so I'm done with the call now.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: Like rude.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm the ghost of Chelsea.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: Did you want something?
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: I said I'd get you something by Friday.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: You mean the show is over?
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: That is so lame.
