- 1:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: But they're gonna be they're not gonna work.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be a disaster.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: But when the work dries up, I'll think I should have done that.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:28unknown: Yeah.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: How about you?
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: How are you?
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, good.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Well, I was just telling you I'm I'm just getting ready because I'm about to have a child any sort of like within the next sometime within the next month, and I don't know exactly when it's gonna be.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: But you don't know when it's dropping.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: That's crazy.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: That's crazy to live like that.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: And it's it's such a weird feeling.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: It's a really weird, like it's it's that that anticipation, but like it's a it's the way you've described it to me so far here and upstairs is so funny.
- 1:54SPEAKER_03: You've been like, yeah, it's really interesting.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: Or like, yeah, it's really like the way you describe it is like it's a I I don't know what to say.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: I truly don't know what to say.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: That you're thrilled that you're it's the biggest thing you've ever done.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: I am, but I'm also like I'm still my I'm still wrapping my head around it.
- 2:08SPEAKER_03: No, of course.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: I'm just like it's crazy.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Like it's the fact that it's I can't comprehend it.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I cannot comprehend it, honestly.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Like, I yeah, it's such a weird feeling because it's like it's it's so much joy and then so much like I've got to be ready for this.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: And then like, yeah, then the the feeling you never feel ready.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: You know, you truly never feel ready, even though you've got we've got everything in place.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: I truly like that baby in the womb is gonna is gonna hear conversations about you doing a podcast, and they could be like, oh shit, he's not ready.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: He's doing a podcast, yeah.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Right, I've got my phone here ready to like just to check double check everything.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Well imagine if you uh because it because any any time from now.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Honestly, I I honestly feel like I'm gonna be recording one of these one day and it's gonna that's when it's gonna happen.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Like we yeah.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Good dude.
- 2:52SPEAKER_03: It's such a like You've got servers down here though.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: I'll check that, yeah.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, okay, so like let's let's talk about the film you've come here to talk about then.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: Um so initially you gave me like two other different films.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: I did, yeah.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: And I'd not heard of either of those films.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: But like I'd heard of um I'd heard of the guy from the from the British film you gave me.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: Dave Courtney, yeah.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Dave Courtney.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: I know that because I know of the the other, what was it, uh, Gatwick Gangsters?
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: Is that the one?
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: I've no I've not seen that.
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: Gatwick Gangsta, that's another film he's in.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: He's in Dave Courtney.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: He's in like loads of these kind of Well, he wasn't, he's he's low budget gangster films.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: Uh he died a couple years ago.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Is he not in Gatwick Gangst?
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he is in Gatwick Gangsters.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: So Gatwick Gangsters is the is the it's is the one where it's like all shot, it it it looks like it's filmed on like one of those like old cameras that you would like walk around with for like to like film your film yourselves.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: Like it it it's so cheap and it's so shit.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: And it's just a it's just a gangster film, like a British gangster film.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: But like it look the one that you what was the one you get you It was full English breakfast.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Full English yeah.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: And one of the greatest bad films of all time.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: It's underrated as a bad film.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: I don't know if people know about it.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: I I'd never heard of it, but it it looks it looked fascinating, but I was just like half my audience like what well the thing is, I looked at I looked it up this I tried to find the the rating of it.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: There's no rating.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: There's not enough people have seen it.
- 4:28SPEAKER_03: Well, I found it in Poundland when I was about 15.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: And um there's a whole like if if if you know, you know, because there is there is like an underground community that love this film.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: And they're called Hobbit Killers or Hobbit Slayers or something because the film came out in cinemas the same day as The Hobbit.
- 4:46SPEAKER_03: And so there's all these Facebook groups online of like people that love the film Foolingless Breakfast that like make, you know, they just like hate the film The Hobbit.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: Like they make make all these memes about how much they hate The Hobbit and they'll like mock up, you know, new films for new posters for like Foolingless Breakfast, but with like you know, they're all killing hobbits and stuff.
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: And they're still going with this.
- 5:06SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, I think so, yeah.
- 5:07SPEAKER_03: That's insane.
- 5:08SPEAKER_03: But it is a j it oh, it's a terrible film, Foolingish Breakfast.
- 5:11SPEAKER_03: But in such I've seen it, I've seen it like 11 times.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: It's like that's mad because I don't think like I don't think I've watched any film like that many times.
- 5:19SPEAKER_03: Well, yeah, I mean I didn't want to watch it that many times, but my friend group, yeah.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: My my friend group, yeah, had to show it to so many other people that we've seen it.
- 5:27SPEAKER_03: So I mean it's like there's there's one point in the film where someone's getting beaten to death with a with a golf club, and instead of a sound effect of a golf club hitting the person, it's just a go on a microphone, you can hear them saying whack.
- 5:40SPEAKER_04: Like it's that level.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like it it like it's it's so that's hilarious.
- 5:45SPEAKER_03: But it's like but it it has no idea that it's a bad film.
- 5:48SPEAKER_03: And all all the best bad films are all of these, yeah.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: That's that's the only way you can enjoy a bad film is if they don't they're not aware that it's a bad film.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: Once they st once they start to become aware, and it's just the Tommy Wiseo problem of the room, like the guy that made the room.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: As soon as he became aware of like his status around like bad, like making bad films, he's learnt into it and they're not fun.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the rest of them are not fun.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: The room is great because it's so bad, yeah, but he doesn't know it.
- 6:11SPEAKER_03: It's when they're made by deluded, like the who's the guy that was in Fateful Findings.
- 6:14SPEAKER_03: What's that?
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: What's that?
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: Michael Sheen?
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: No, surely not.
- 6:18SPEAKER_03: Not Michael Sheen.
- 6:19SPEAKER_03: Fateful Norman Breen.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: Norman Sheen?
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: Something.
- 6:25SPEAKER_03: Fateful yeah, Fateful Findings was is another like classic film.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: Neil Breen.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: Neil Breen.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, I've never seen a Neil Breen film.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: I hear so many things about it.
- 6:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:32SPEAKER_03: That's another one where like he just thinks he's a genius.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:36SPEAKER_03: And that's why they're brilliant.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: He's someone that doesn't seem to be aware, and he seems to be just making because everyone seems to enjoy them still.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: So like they he must still not be aware that he's making bad films.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, I don't I don't I genuinely don't think he does.
- 6:48SPEAKER_03: He's made so many.
- 6:50SPEAKER_03: God.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: But is that the is that the best one?
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: Or like the most famous.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: Fateful Findings is the is the is the most famous one.
- 6:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:57SPEAKER_03: But I used to be so obsessed with Pound Line films.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: That's so many.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: Do you just buy whatever, like you just go in there and look for the worst one?
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: Worst one, yeah.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: Worst one.
- 7:07SPEAKER_03: The what but the the occasionally you do that and you watch and then you just watch film that's sort of okay.
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but waste of a pound.
- 7:13SPEAKER_03: Waste of a pound.
- 7:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:15SPEAKER_03: Filling his breakfast was the best one we ever found.
- 7:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: And it was uh What other ones did you find?
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: A lot of films that were like kind of shitty remakes of like films that made a lot of money.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: So like Iron Hero.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, I do remember seeing a lot of those.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: I mean, I can't believe they're actually there's a whole company that does production that makes like there was a trans.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: I remember a Transformers one, but I don't remember it's like Transmorphers or something.
- 7:36SPEAKER_03: Transmorphers, yeah, it's stuff like that.
- 7:37SPEAKER_03: There's there was loads of those in Powerland back in the day.
- 7:41SPEAKER_03: Um that's so funny.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to think.
- 7:44SPEAKER_03: Um what other ones do I remember?
- 7:47SPEAKER_03: Wesley Snipe's film that was called Future Ball, I think.
- 7:50SPEAKER_03: Which was like was this like during his like trying to pay off his taxes?
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: I th yeah, probably.
- 7:55SPEAKER_03: Um I I I mean some classics, Jack and Jill, I remember buying that at a pound land.
- 8:02SPEAKER_03: That was on here.
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: This this this series, actually, isn't it?
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: Um very bad film.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: Iron Hero and Fullenge Breakfast are the ones that really stood out.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: Was Iron Hero?
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: So it was Iron Man, like an Iron Man ripoff.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: And was it as bad as it sounds?
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: So much worse.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: So much worse than it sounds.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: Is it like is the CGI just atrocious?
- 8:25SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:26SPEAKER_03: Like it's all like uh shots of like lightning bolts that stretch across the whole screen and just loop.
- 8:34SPEAKER_03: It's like a gif.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: Oh wow, this has gotta be it.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: It's it's gotta be this this one called Metal Man that's like I'll try and find it, Iron Hero.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Because they're gonna be like under different names as well.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it's not the only one.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this this this has gotta be it because it says release to capitalize on the success of Iron Man.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: Wow, it's coming up with like loads of them.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: The Amazing Bulk.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, The Amazing Bulk, Transmorphers, Battle Soldier, Rise of the Black Bat, Sinister Squad.
- 9:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Agent Beetle, Triassic World.
- 9:09SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: Oh, that was that was the other thing.
- 9:11SPEAKER_03: So Iron Hero.
- 9:13SPEAKER_03: So it's called Metal Man and Iron Hero.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: For some reason, the name just changes halfway through.
- 9:17SPEAKER_03: Oh really?
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: They call him like Iron Hero for like the first half of the movie, and then they call him Metal Man.
- 9:21SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's ridiculous.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: I bet they were like, oh, we've got to change it just in case.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, but then they're just like, no, it was fine, let's just leave both of them in.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: Um Wow, this is cra Oh my I'm looking at a picture of it.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: I'll put it up on the screen, but this is just like this just looks so shit.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, it's it's that level.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: It's like uh this is the level that like Gatwick Gangsters is at, though, as well.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: That's what they that's that's what it looks like.
- 9:48SPEAKER_03: Fool English Breakfast is slightly higher budget than Iron Hero.
- 9:52SPEAKER_03: There's a scene in Fool English Breakfast where they look out the main like love interest in the thing, they're they're having like a romantic moment where they're looking out um at the the ocean, in presumably in in like Kent or somewhere and um he's like standing by her and they're sort of looking solemnly, and she goes, um They're talking about how it's Paris.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I goes, What what's she goes, what's that over there?
- 10:16SPEAKER_03: And he goes, Paris.
- 10:18SPEAKER_03: And she goes, What's it like over there?
- 10:21SPEAKER_03: And he goes, don't know, it's different.
- 10:24SPEAKER_03: And that's the that's the scene.
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: That's the scene.
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: That's like the romantic dialogue.
- 10:28SPEAKER_03: Amazing.
- 10:29SPEAKER_03: It's I mean, and and all of it's dubbed, yeah, because presumably when they filmed it, like it was just the audio was just so bad.
- 10:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, shots where it's like the wind's like blowing people's hair everywhere, and then it just sounds clear as day, the audio, you know.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: But it's not even like properly singed Davis.
- 10:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:46SPEAKER_03: Oh as another scene where someone gets waterboarded, and um and then they and then he he like holds fast and um doesn't give the terrorists the information that they want.
- 10:57SPEAKER_03: There's terrorists in this film, and um, and then uh they pull him back up and they say, All right, we knew you were telling the truth.
- 11:04SPEAKER_03: It's impossible to lie during waterboarding.
- 11:09SPEAKER_03: It's not.
- 11:10SPEAKER_03: I mean it is because it's possible to lie during waterboarding.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: It's just yeah, I'll I need to watch this.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: I do need to watch this.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: And like, yeah, okay, so like if if you are not from the UK, it's gonna be it's gonna be even more insane to you, it's gonna make even less sense.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I feel like.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: So if you want to watch it, but I don't even know where you find it.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: Where where did Poundland?
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Poundland, yeah.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Then the other one you talked about was a Gerard Defardue film.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, Gail Yeah, handkerchiefs, yeah.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: Never heard of it, looked up the plot, immediately was like, absolutely not.
- 11:44SPEAKER_03: We are not talking about, we are not I'm not it's a yeah, it's about uh it's about a woman who chooses as her partner a uh young teenage boy.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: Um, but it's hilarious.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: It's supposed to be funny, it's right.
- 11:57SPEAKER_03: It's so funny, it's so funny because because it like breaks down, it's it's it's really like surreal absurdist humour because you would think in that situation they present the woman as like a sort of grooming him, and then he's the immature one, but they present him as like you know, he's like having a cigarette after they have sex, and she's like Christ, what what are we and stuff, and he's like, Oh, like he they it's it's really playful laughs, and it's so funny, right?
- 12:23SPEAKER_03: But but Bertrand Blier, the the French director, has done so many like um amazing films with Gerald Departieu, and they're all so absurdly funny.
- 12:35SPEAKER_03: I think the most famous one is um Buffet Foi, which is uh That sounds familiar, yeah, but that is not the best one at all.
- 12:45SPEAKER_03: There's menage is so much better, Gailia Hankerchiefs is so much better.
- 12:49SPEAKER_03: I mean, Gerald DePadieu is not the best person ever, but he's he's my f my favourite actor, apart from Dustin Hoffman.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: And he was also terrible.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: He was like really leaning into them.
- 12:59SPEAKER_03: Listen, I I I I don't yeah, they're not great people, but they're excellent characters.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: No, those two and Louis C.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: K.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I actually do love Louis C.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: K.
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, I mean I I uh he you know, if you if you think that French people can't do comedy, oh no, they can.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: They just yeah, it's just like French comedy is so different to like any other kind of comedy.
- 13:24SPEAKER_03: But it's it it's hard to find a film that's like really funny but also really beautiful.
- 13:28SPEAKER_03: And all of those films are interesting.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I just I was just like also this is this is not one that so this is this is much of this is much more of a broader podcast.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: I feel like people aren't gonna know what that is as well.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: So I was like, oh, this is not gonna be Yeah, well we went with the superhero movie in the end.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we did, as we did.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: A bit of a sharp left turn from your handkerchiefs.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: A few weeks ago I recorded uh the another ep uh I released another episode I recorded a year ago, uh, which was the live episode which with Lorna Rostrine where she talked about Epic movie, um which is the same, it's not exactly the same people, but it's like a lot of the same cast and crew, and like you know, like same vein, kind of the same people as the scary movie things.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: There this was the time where they were releasing so many uh spoof movies.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, and they were just this was the last they felt like this was kind of the last one to to get in there, and I don't know why it took so long for a superhero one.
- 14:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and it's and it's it's probably of all of all the kind of genre films they made.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: I mean, think about the kind of absolute, you know, skyrocket in box office that superhero films have had since they made superhero films.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: That's what's so funny, it came out the year Iron Man came out.
- 14:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, yeah, I mean, I mean, I mean it was like talk about bad timing.
- 14:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, it it's taking the piss out of uh mostly the mostly Spider-Man.
- 14:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's majority of Spider-Man.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: Um, which that's also another reason it's such a great film is because Spider-Man's a great film.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the original Spider-like so when we say Spider-Man, we're talking about the the like 2002 what?
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, 2002 film.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: So like it's this is already like a spoof of a film that's six years prior to this film.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:08SPEAKER_03: But but I mean, like, I remember watching Spider-Man as a kid, and even though it's such an earnest film, yeah, um, you know, loving it and not really noticing as a kid all of the kind of ridiculous Oh yeah, there's so many so many ridiculous things, pr pr uh primarily with the Green Goblin, I feel like.
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: And then and then you watch Superhero Superhero movie came out a bit later when I was a bit older.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:31SPEAKER_03: And then you're noticing all these all the ridiculous things that happen in Spider-Man.
- 15:35SPEAKER_03: I can't believe I didn't pick up on how silly that was.
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: And it's great to see it.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: It was I think they skewered it really well.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: And also they did a much better representation of because I think a lot of the time superhero movies are presented as uh especially Spider-Man, it's like it's like some sort of metaphor for puberty.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: And you know, it's I mean, uh Spider-Man, I guess, is presented as a little bit awkward, yeah, but ultimately he becomes Spider-Man.
- 16:00SPEAKER_03: You know, yes, he's shooting, you know, sticky stuff, which he couldn't before, but like he's awesome.
- 16:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's great.
- 16:07SPEAKER_03: Whereas superhero movie presents puberty as as awkward as it really is.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it like presents it for what it really is.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: It's like it's interesting because I I've always I've never said I'd never seen this before until I watched it for this.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: I always had the impression that this was gonna be like one of the worst ones out of those like spoofed genre movies.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: I didn't think it was actually that bad.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: No, it was great.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: I and I would and seeing the score on here, so the score is 17%.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the Rotten Tomato score is 17% from the critics, 32% from the audience.
- 16:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: I thought this is gonna be awful.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's not it's it's there's some really good jokes in this movie, some and the cast.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: The cast incredible the cast, it has it has Kevin Hart, Leslie Nielsen, Drake Bell, I think is an excellent cast.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: He's uh he's great for this.
- 16:55SPEAKER_03: He's really good jokes.
- 16:56SPEAKER_03: He's like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: Um it's got uh Regina Hall in it as well.
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: It's got Tracy Morgan, it's got Tracy Morgan, it's got um the main villain in it is uh he was just in the new happy Gilmore.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: Christopher McDonald, yeah, yeah.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: He's um shooter McGavin.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:11SPEAKER_03: He's brilliant in it.
- 17:11SPEAKER_03: I mean he's great.
- 17:12SPEAKER_03: Um it Dan Castellanetta is in it, Homer Simpson is in it.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: Which I think that was before, maybe before he did The Simpsons.
- 17:20SPEAKER_03: Um maybe it was after that.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: No, this is a long time into The Simpsons.
- 17:24SPEAKER_03: Maybe it wasn't.
- 17:25SPEAKER_03: Um But but like it's mad to see that many, such a star-studded cast in like such a you know, trashed pan film.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: I don't think I don't think this would be as trash now as if it came out now.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: Like this is way better than some of those spoof movies that came out around that time.
- 17:41SPEAKER_03: I think it's the best one.
- 17:41SPEAKER_03: I honestly think it's like it has some of the best gags in it.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Uh well, uh but do you mean the best one of the of that genre?
- 17:48SPEAKER_03: Or are you talking about of all of like all the scary movies, all the I generally?
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Oh no, I can't, like scary movie is still the best one.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: You think so?
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:55SPEAKER_03: I I rewatched Scary Movie recently and I was not impressed.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen it in a while, so maybe it doesn't hold up as well, but like I don't think it I don't think it's some of those films.
- 18:05SPEAKER_03: I'm like, you're trying to parody too many films.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:07SPEAKER_03: Like Epic movie is like so many films.
- 18:09SPEAKER_03: It's too much, yes.
- 18:10SPEAKER_03: Too many, too many films parody at once.
- 18:12SPEAKER_03: The fact that this almost at some point is almost one-to-one parody.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: I think that's why it works so much better.
- 18:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: I do think like I think that's what I enjoyed about it.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: I was like, okay, you are you're not throwing in everything.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: You're not trying to throw in every pop culture reference as well, which was another thing.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: So at the start of the movie, they kind of do that with Kevin Hart stuff.
- 18:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: Where they throw in like a lot of stuff around Apple and the iPads and MySpace and all this.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, this is gonna be very dated now, and this is gonna be but then they drop it completely and they just go straight into the parody of like Spider-Man.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, okay, I can get on board with this.
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: This is like there's still a few Britney Spears jokes in there where they're like, but like, but yeah, like they they yeah, it doesn't date as as badly as some of the other films.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: Because yeah, like watching Epic Movie back, it was like, okay, I get it, this is 2007 or something, I get it, this is everything that happened then, I don't care.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: This is immediately dated.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: And there's nothing funny about it anymore.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: Um but scary like again, yeah.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: I think scary movie, this is what I will argue about scary movie, I think it does it well because it's only a parody of the films, it's not really a parody of like pop culture.
- 19:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: Whereas like you go into scary movie too, and that's when they start throwing in pop culture stuff because they'd run out because it was the next literally the next year.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: And the turnaround was so fast on it that they were like, okay, well, we've just got to immediately like throw in whatever we can.
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: I th I think um I think a lot of that, a lot of the fact that it parodies one-to-one Spider-Man as well, is because it makes the plot easier to follow.
- 19:37SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 19:37SPEAKER_03: Because some of those movies, the parodies, the spoof films, have so many plot lines in it.
- 19:41SPEAKER_03: You're like, I cannot, I do not know what's going on.
- 19:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:45SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, that there's some great gags in it.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: I think one of the things that's really interesting about this as well.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Do you know the director of it?
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: No.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: So it's um Craig Masin or Mazin.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: I can't, I don't know how you say his name.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: He is now so he went on to make Chernobyl.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: He's the showrunner for Chernobyl and then the showrunner for The Last of Us.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: Oh, really?
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: He went on to make those.
- 20:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:09SPEAKER_03: And he made all of the spoof films.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: No, no, he only made this one.
- 20:12unknown: Oh.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: And I think that's I think that's clear where he's like, okay, well, you actually got someone that's like d knows how to make something, knows how to tell a story and knows how to I think so.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: Um but he also made like the Hangover 2 and 3.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: He wrote those ones.
- 20:26SPEAKER_03: So like Yeah, I haven't seen those actually.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: Oh really?
- 20:30SPEAKER_03: No, I haven't.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: They're not great.
- 20:32SPEAKER_03: Not great.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: No.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: What's that?
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: Would you say superhero movies better than uh it's better than three.
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: Come on, the scene where the scene where the snail humps him.
- 20:46SPEAKER_03: That really got me.
- 20:47SPEAKER_03: I mean, when when he when he's it when he sprays himself with H209, thinking about it.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: I did like that.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: That was funny.
- 20:53SPEAKER_03: And every animal in the lab comes to hump him, and then the final joke is that a snail's humping him.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and the snail's like, I'm on my way.
- 20:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:59SPEAKER_03: He says, No, he says, take it, bitch.
- 21:05SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: Have you seen um the new naked gun?
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: I've seen I've seen about 30 minutes of it.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, was it you didn't enjoy it?
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen it yet.
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: I'm just fascinated because like I'm just looking, it's literally coming up next to it as like a recommendation.
- 21:18SPEAKER_03: I'm like, oh, I think some of the same people were involved in the making of superhero movie that were involved in the world.
- 21:22SPEAKER_03: Interesting in the Naked Gun remake, yeah.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Oh well, the original Naked Gun's Lacey Nielsen.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: So Exactly.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: And it's like I think also like one of the things that benefits this movie is having him in it.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: Because he is like hilarious, innit?
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: He just plays it so straight and like he knows how to play stupid stuff with a straight face and act as if it's just the most realistic thing, and that's the only thing you can do to make these kind of movies work.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: When you don't play it for for the you don't play it straight, it really doesn't work.
- 21:52SPEAKER_03: No, yeah, absolutely.
- 21:53SPEAKER_03: Um I mean so much comedy I think is funnier when you play it straight.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: Um the the It's such a hard role to play as well.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Like it's so much harder than you than people think it is.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: But he was a straight actor before he did one of those films.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: Fascinating.
- 22:07SPEAKER_03: Which I think is why they cast Liam Neeson in the in the New Naked Guy.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: I think he's the perfect person to take over from Leslie Nielsen for that reason.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: I think he's he's so like the fact that he's got Li Liam Neeson is now just an action star is just crazy.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: Given like, you know, this is this is a guy who was like making these very serious, like dramatic films, and then he's gone on to like now be now he's just lent into like this elderly action star and and now he's parodying himself.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: Which is fascinating.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: Like I I Drake, so you must have been of the age.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: When did you when did you first see this?
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: Then do you remember?
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was in I was in year six.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say, you must have been of the age where this is like perfect for you.
- 22:52SPEAKER_03: Hilarious.
- 22:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:53SPEAKER_03: My friend, my friend Alex was uh obsessed with this movie, and he got me into a lot of comedy in in when I was a kid.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: Like he was the first person that told me about like Jim Carrey.
- 23:04SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 23:04SPEAKER_03: And uh Ace Ventura and all In Living Colour and all those.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: Oh wow, in Living Colour, you told me.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Fire Marshall Bill was the was the first thing I ever saw Jim Carrey in.
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 23:17SPEAKER_03: Um which I think maybe my friend thought that Fire Marshall Bill was quite a lot funnier than I did, but but I loved Ace Ventura, I thought that was hilarious.
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, he was also like obsessed with superhero movie.
- 23:31SPEAKER_03: And uh so you didn't go and see it in the cinema or anything like that?
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: No, I wish I oh my god, that would have been so much fun.
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: I don't think my parents would have let me see it.
- 23:38SPEAKER_03: It was about you know nine.
- 23:40SPEAKER_03: I think it's only a twelve.
- 23:42SPEAKER_03: Was it that surprises me?
- 23:44SPEAKER_03: Is it not a 15?
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: I don't think so.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: It's quite launchy.
- 23:50SPEAKER_03: Um it's one of the lighter ones, I would say.
- 23:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean Yeah, I didn't see it in cinema, but it's a I watched it recently with my cousin, and it's a great film to watch with other people.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:03SPEAKER_03: As all of those spoofed movies are.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: You don't have to watch it with other people, it's so much more fun.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: Like you don't watching it alone.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: You again with like comedy, I think like watching comedy alone, it takes it takes away from it.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: It sucks.
- 24:14SPEAKER_01: It's it's it's a communal thing.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: You're like, um, it is a 12A.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: Oh, it is wow.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: One thing I will say about this movie, it's it's start to finish.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: If you stop at the credits, it's an hour and seven minutes long.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: Is it really short?
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: It's an hour and seven minutes.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: Which is crazy.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: That is that is quick, isn't it?
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: And the first five minutes are credits.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: So technically it's an hour long.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, wow, okay.
- 24:43SPEAKER_03: Do you know what?
- 24:45SPEAKER_03: That's probably part of the reason I enjoy it so much.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: Short attention span.
- 24:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, also because it crams loads of gags in there.
- 24:52SPEAKER_03: It doesn't it does, yeah.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: It isn't longer than it needs to be.
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's so hard to.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: Oh no, it ends when it needs to end.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: It doesn't need to be longer than this than it is.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: Like I do find I think now, like, well, this was also like the age of like the Apatow movie where it was like two and a half hours of a comedy and like really dragging it out, and like so this is like the polar opposite of that where you're like, okay, gets in and out, does what he needs to do.
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, yeah.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, so many people are in this.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: Um as I'm looking at the cast again, like Keith David is in it, um Jeffrey Tambor, uh it's Jeffrey Tambor.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: I was reading, he like he he flew in off of the set, like he had two days off of Hellboy 2, flew in, filmed the two scenes as a doctor, and then left again.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: Like flew back to Hungary to go film it.
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: I I I I was watching it, um, I was watching it this morning, and uh one of the gags that really made me laugh is uh they parody uh the Batman, the sh the scene in Batman.
- 25:53SPEAKER_03: Also, it's all all scenes that you remember so well.
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh yeah, absolutely.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: Like I had real visual, like real memory of all of everything that happens in this.
- 26:01SPEAKER_03: And and they look exactly like the scenes in the film of the parody.
- 26:04SPEAKER_03: But the scene where Batman's parents get killed after the opera or whatever.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we all know that.
- 26:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and um and he's like he's like, son, trying to reach into my pocket.
- 26:16SPEAKER_03: And then a gun goes off and he shoots and his dad gets shot again, and he goes, the other pocket, and then he throws the gun away and it shoots his mum.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's just like great, it's really funny.
- 26:25SPEAKER_03: It's and then he and then he finds the ring in the other pocket, and the dad's telling him how important the ring is, and then he drops it and it chokes his dad to death.
- 26:31SPEAKER_03: I mean, so so funny.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: I think a really funny gag later on is when he um when he says don't Les Nielsen says don't forget what what it says on the ring, and he reads it out and he's like, and it's it says this, that he's he lists off like 50 different things, yeah, yeah.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: And he's like, and the rest is in Latin.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: And again, like you have to play that straight.
- 26:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I miss, I miss, um, I really miss uh good slapstick in comedies as well.
- 26:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: That's why I'm surprised you only managed to get through like 30 minutes of uh Naked Gun.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: Is then is there not too much not as much slapstick in this one?
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: I Naked Gun, I would have loved it if I was watching it with other people, but I was just looking at it on my own to be like, I wonder if it's any good.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: But I um yeah, I really I no I I will stick with the Naked Gun because um I was enjoying it.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: Have you seen the original?
- 27:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: Okay, I love it.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: And Blazing Saddles and Blazing Saddles is classic, amazing airplane, all of those.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: I love those so much, and like I miss that.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: I that's what I want to come back.
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: It's that style of comedy.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:31SPEAKER_03: And like a blockbuster, that's the problem, is you know, I mean, I did the last comedy I saw in the cinema was Friendship by Tim Robinson.
- 27:40SPEAKER_03: Oh, I loved that.
- 27:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I thought it was wicked, but the cinema I watched it in, it was just I was like so because I was like going to see a comedy in a cinema, the vibes are gonna be amazing.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: It was me and two other guys really in the cinema, and I'm like That's so interesting because I went to I went to a picture house in in Crouch End.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: I went to Crouch End's picture house, and it was full on a Tuesday night, about two weeks after it had been out.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: Completely full, and the audience was loving it.
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: Oh, I should have it was great.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: I saw it at some weird like indie cinema in Manchester.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: Uh maybe uh yeah, maybe I should have seen it in London at some point.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: Like the audience, they were all like Tim Robinson fans, you could tell.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: And they were loving it.
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: I thought it was such a good film.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, such a good film.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: I think, yeah, I that's another thing of like I love that style of comedy, and I think like it's so obviously that it's people love it as well, but like people going in not knowing what to expect with that, it's really gonna throw them.
- 28:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, absolutely.
- 28:42SPEAKER_03: I mean, I hope Naked Gunner sets a precedent for like more films.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for sure.
- 28:47SPEAKER_03: Um I'd love I'd love for there to be some IP rather than just a remake as well, you know, like a new slapstick.
- 28:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the other thing.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: It's like I think I think they could that's the only way they can get around doing this sort of thing.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: It's like they'll have to they have to do some kind of like remake.
- 29:02SPEAKER_01: And it's really it's it's frustrating, but I think they got the right people to do it.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: They got Akiva Schaefer who is from a part of the Lonely Island to direct it, and then they got um the guys who did oh god, I forget their names.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: Um let me look it up.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: It is the guy the writers of it are the writers of Oh, Brooklyn 99, How I Met Your Mother, um Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so like they they know like the general style of comedy and they know to kind of like play to that.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: Um so I think that's why people are also like enjoying that as well, as opposed to like I'm trying to think of the last spoof movie before this though, like before Naked Gun, and I can't think of any for years.
- 29:55SPEAKER_03: People say that the first or people say that the last kind of silly um blockbuster comedy was Hot Top Time Machine.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, which I actually the original I love, the second one is so bad.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:07SPEAKER_01: Have you seen them?
- 30:08SPEAKER_03: I I I I haven't I haven't seen them.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: Oh but they if you love 80s movies, you'll love Hot Top Time Machine.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 30:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:14SPEAKER_03: I do love 80s movies.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: But then the second one is just so bad.
- 30:18SPEAKER_01: It's so weirdly like there's no reason for it to be bad, but like it's just atrocious.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:23SPEAKER_03: Or maybe the hangover.
- 30:24SPEAKER_03: Hangover's probably quite late, big buster comedy.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: Um same director.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: Not same director, same director and writer of this.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:33SPEAKER_03: I don't know, I don't know what the future is for kind of um I mean hopefully, I mean A24's sort of stimulated so much indie.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: I do wonder if that's gonna be like the st the style now.
- 30:44SPEAKER_03: I hope so.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: I'd love to I'd love to see more kind of so maybe friendship is gonna be the style the style that people lean on.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: Which is like a stoner kind of a stoner comedy.
- 30:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:53SPEAKER_03: There's definitely a market for it.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: I mean it's like artsy stoner comedy almost.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: Um, but this is like complete opposite of that.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: This is not this is uh very broad comedy.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: This is like um so this is again, this is very broad jokes, but they're like half the half the time they if they they either like really hit or they don't at all.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: This is I think this is part of the issue that people have with the movie.
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: It's like there's there's like one scene with fart jokes that goes on for so long.
- 31:24SPEAKER_03: Wait, what's the scene I can't remember?
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: With with the with the aunt.
- 31:28SPEAKER_03: Oh wait, you know, I do remember, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:30SPEAKER_03: It's about five minutes out of the movie.
- 31:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's what I love.
- 31:33SPEAKER_03: See, what I love is like a film that commits to a stupid joke for way longer than it needs to.
- 31:40SPEAKER_03: So, so funny.
- 31:41SPEAKER_03: And anything, yeah, anything dumb.
- 31:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:43SPEAKER_03: Because then because then you're laughing at I can't believe that the studio let them do this more than you are like the actual joke itself.
- 31:51SPEAKER_03: Like just that you you're you're picturing the people in the you know, in the meeting room being like, so we want to we want to make this scene 10 minutes, and then being like, Are you sure?
- 31:58SPEAKER_03: It's like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we got nothing else.
- 32:00SPEAKER_03: Fine, have a million dollars, you know.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: I love that stuff.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: It does make me wonder if they like they didn't film enough content and they're just like, okay, we're gonna keep it going.
- 32:10SPEAKER_03: Well, I stuff like that.
- 32:11SPEAKER_03: I always people people always say with with scripts and stuff in it, like, if you've got a good joke, make it make it longer.
- 32:18SPEAKER_03: Just just got a good scene, make it longer.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:21SPEAKER_03: If you've got uh a stupid fart gag, the longer you drag it out always the funnier it will be.
- 32:27SPEAKER_03: Just Stuart Lee it.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: Do you know where the first fart gag um in a movie was from?
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: No.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: Blazing saddles.
- 32:35unknown: Really?
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: What was the gag in that?
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: They're sitting around the campfire and they're eating the beans and they fart, and it's the first time it's ever been a joke in a film.
- 32:41SPEAKER_03: That's the first time ever.
- 32:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: It's crazy, isn't it?
- 32:44SPEAKER_03: That is nuts.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's like the 70s.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 32:47SPEAKER_01: Was it like revolutionary at the time?
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: Genuinely.
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: Like it paid it like changed the entire tone of like comedy.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: Fart that that that really shocks me because Far maybe it's because it's maybe it's so obvious that it's like, why would you know?
- 33:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:04SPEAKER_03: It's just right there, people don't think to do it.
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: How is that the first time?
- 33:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: It's it's crazy.
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: Like, um, one of the things I was looking up just now is um so this cost 35 million and it grossed 71 million.
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: That is a banging return on that.
- 33:19SPEAKER_03: That is a great return.
- 33:20SPEAKER_03: You never get that now.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: You would not, this would not make 71 million.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: No, this would be in and out.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: Also, this would be in and out.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: This is one of the other things, like how quickly movies are in and out of of cinemas there.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: This would be in and out in a week.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: This would be gone.
- 33:34SPEAKER_01: And then DVD, and then make so much money off the DVD as well.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: I bet I bet this made a ton on DVD.
- 33:39SPEAKER_02: I bet.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: I um but yeah, one of the one of the things I was asking you about when you when you saw it for the first time, you must have been like prime audience for like Drake and Josh as well.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: So like seeing seeing him in a movie must have been like great.
- 33:54SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 33:55SPEAKER_03: I loved Drake and Josh.
- 33:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:56SPEAKER_03: I've I've I mean I found that show.
- 33:58SPEAKER_03: I mean, looking back, that show is not that funny, but at the time I thought it was hysterical.
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, see that I'm I'm too old for Drake and Josh.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: So like mine was Keenan and Kel.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: Like that was like my time period.
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Keenan Kel's great.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: So like, yeah, my history of like seeing it is like Keenan and Kel to SNL, seeing Keenan and SNL.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: That's my time period.
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: Like that, so the equivalent of that is like Drake and Josh to Drake in superhero movie.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: Like and Josh on TikTok.
- 34:26SPEAKER_01: Josh on TikTok.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: That was a weird time.
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: Josh on Snapchat.
- 34:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and he's just ripped now.
- 34:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, I I I loved I love Drake and Josh.
- 34:35SPEAKER_03: You really never watched it.
- 34:37SPEAKER_01: I've seen like bits and pieces, but I was like, so I loved all those Nickelodeon sitcoms.
- 34:42SPEAKER_03: I was prime audience for those.
- 34:44SPEAKER_03: Zoe 101, Drake and Josh.
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: Just too old.
- 34:47SPEAKER_03: I was too old.
- 34:47SPEAKER_03: I still remember gags from them that really got me.
- 34:50SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 34:50SPEAKER_03: I remember um where when when Josh is um Drake is like showing um some newspaper article or something, and it they're talking about coffee beans or something.
- 35:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:01SPEAKER_03: And he goes, Oh, it says they only grow them in South America.
- 35:05SPEAKER_03: And Josh goes, South America! I just remember that cracked me up at the time.
- 35:10SPEAKER_03: I was like, that now this is coming.
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's a good joke.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: I um yeah, I I would have been 15 when Drake and Josh started.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: I just looked it up.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: So like I'm definitely bit bit too.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: How old are you?
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: I'm 36.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: 36, okay.
- 35:23SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm twenty I'm 26.
- 35:25SPEAKER_03: So I would have been, yeah.
- 35:26SPEAKER_03: I was I was prime audience for it.
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: 26, damn.
- 35:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:29SPEAKER_03: I'm surprised you're 36.
- 35:31SPEAKER_03: You look so much younger.
- 35:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a thing.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: I don't know, I don't understand it.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: It's uh like I tell people all the time, it's like it's just other than my hairline, it's very like you would not be a very youthful face.
- 35:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:42SPEAKER_01: I've just always looked younger than I am.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: Like even when I was a kid, like people thought I was a lot younger.
- 35:47SPEAKER_03: So now it makes more sense to having a kid.
- 35:51SPEAKER_03: I genuinely thought you were my age.
- 35:53SPEAKER_03: And I was like, when you said you had a kid on, I'm like Samira Banks said the same thing the other day.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: Oh really?
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: She was like, she was like, I was gonna tell you it's gonna be okay.
- 36:06SPEAKER_03: She's so supportive.
- 36:10SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, I didn't know you were 26.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: I thought you were a little bit older than 26, but I thought I didn't I knew you were young, but like Yeah.
- 36:17SPEAKER_03: No, yeah, 26, yeah.
- 36:18SPEAKER_01: It's also the beard as well.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: Like when I always assume like whenever anyone has a beard, I'm like, oh, they've got to be a little bit older.
- 36:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:24SPEAKER_03: Without the beard, I do look really and people still people still I thought uh the beard made me look older, but people still you know make jokes about me being young on it's good.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: I guess people know you're young, but yeah, like not quite I don't know, I never knew quite how young.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: I didn't think it was 26, but yeah.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: 26.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: But really it's not that young.
- 36:40SPEAKER_03: I guess it's not 26, you know, I I I some gigs I say I'm young, and if I'm doing top secret, they're all younger than me, so they're like they're like, no, you're not.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: But I didn't even start doing anything in c in the comedy industry until I was 26.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: I got into I started doing improv when I was 26.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: So like that that's but you've already had like a whole I've been doing it since I was what year did you start?
- 37:02SPEAKER_03: Seven.
- 37:02SPEAKER_03: I started when I was seven.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: Genuinely.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: What?
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: Sorry?
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, I did this thing, I did this thing with the comedy club for kids when I was uh the the thing that just won Emerald.
- 37:11SPEAKER_03: Oh I've been doing I've been doing that for like 20 years.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: Oh wow So when when did you go when I was when I was when I was six or seven, I I I did that and then like but like did that surely you didn't do it, keep doing it then.
- 37:23SPEAKER_03: No, I didn't.
- 37:24SPEAKER_03: I no I didn't.
- 37:24SPEAKER_03: I kept doing it for a few years and then um you know really loved it and stopped for ages and then and then when I was 18 at uni I decided to do open mics.
- 37:34SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 37:35SPEAKER_03: A friend of mine, do you remember Patrick Healy?
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so Pat Healy was doing open mics, and I went with him as a bringer.
- 37:40SPEAKER_03: You'd bring someone to perform, and I saw him absolutely roof it out of gig, and I was so jealous.
- 37:46SPEAKER_03: I was like, oh my god, I need to step my game up, I need to start writing more jokes.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: Well, I like I think Patrick Healy was one of the first people I saw when I started working at Two North Down.
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: That was like he was one of the first people there.
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was he was and weirdly, I think you were one of the first people I saw there.
- 38:01SPEAKER_01: Like it was it was your comedy younger.
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: I would have booked Pat on that, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh I don't think you'd booked him on that that I saw, but I remember like I remember like the first time you were there.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: It was like you and who was there that night?
- 38:14SPEAKER_01: It was like you, Tad, uh Freya, probably.
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: Probably Freya, yeah.
- 38:19SPEAKER_03: Um Michael May was probably there.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:23SPEAKER_03: Uh that was always a really fun night.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: I always really enjoyed that.
- 38:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 38:27SPEAKER_03: It was good.
- 38:28SPEAKER_03: It was good.
- 38:29SPEAKER_03: It was a shame people just stopped coming.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: Um But I really I really loved doing that, doing that gig.
- 38:35SPEAKER_01: Do you remember the one?
- 38:36SPEAKER_01: I don't know you you probably do remember this, but there was one where there was like some storm one night.
- 38:43SPEAKER_01: Do you remember this?
- 38:44SPEAKER_01: I don't remember now.
- 38:44SPEAKER_01: No?
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: No.
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: And like you still had an audience, but you were like getting a bit stressed out that you weren't gonna get an audience for it.
- 38:52SPEAKER_01: I remember.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: Because of the storm.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: Because of the storm, because it was so bad.
- 38:55SPEAKER_03: Oh god, I don't remember at all.
- 38:57SPEAKER_01: No?
- 38:58SPEAKER_01: It was a storm.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: It was a proper storm that night.
- 39:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was like hailing down, like it was crazy.
- 39:04SPEAKER_03: Both both comedy clubs that I've done that night in have closed down.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: Like, you know, months within me starting doing the night there.
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: No, no, you were there for a long time before that closed down.
- 39:14SPEAKER_03: I was I was I was there, I was doing it at Two North Down for like maybe like a year or something.
- 39:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:19SPEAKER_03: Then two north down closed down.
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: Then started doing a West End comedy club.
- 39:22SPEAKER_03: A year later, West End closes down.
- 39:23SPEAKER_01: West End closed down?
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: Didn't know that.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: I was working next door to that, uh doing when ostentatious were doing like shows.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: So like I could see like the West End show line up and everything right next door.
- 39:39SPEAKER_03: There was uh it was a fun club, but yeah, I think I think the the the the building decided they could make more money at the end of the yeah.
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this was the thing.
- 39:45SPEAKER_01: So the ostentatious was supposed to be like the last ones there.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: And like they were gonna about to close it.
- 39:50SPEAKER_01: I remember they were actually about to close the I didn't realise the West End side was closing now, but I thought it was just the other side.
- 39:57SPEAKER_01: Or something too.
- 39:57SPEAKER_01: They want to do like hotels, yeah.
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: Pod hotels, like capsule hotels like in Japan.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: Um that's gonna do well here.
- 40:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, I mean, I I I always think that's such a good idea, the capsule hotels.
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: I mean, have you ever stayed in one?
- 40:11SPEAKER_03: No, but I would.
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: If I was on a budget.
- 40:13SPEAKER_01: I've done it.
- 40:13SPEAKER_01: Oh, have you?
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: How is it?
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: Awful.
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
- 40:16SPEAKER_01: It's awful.
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: It's horrible, especially if you're claustrophobic.
- 40:19SPEAKER_01: In Japan or in Japan, yeah, yeah.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: It's horrible.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: It's so noisy.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, is it?
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's so noisy.
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: You can see the light coming through.
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: So like it's horrible.
- 40:31SPEAKER_03: I always thought it was such a good idea.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: I thought I was gonna love it.
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: I I did it because it was like, oh, I'm gonna be in Tokyo for a couple of days.
- 40:37SPEAKER_01: I'll do like this, I'll do one night here, see what it's like.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: No, it's horrible, horrible.
- 40:42SPEAKER_01: It's not even that much cheaper.
- 40:43SPEAKER_01: Is it not?
- 40:44SPEAKER_01: For sake.
- 40:45SPEAKER_01: It's like you pay like 40 pounds or something.
- 40:49SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's really expensive.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:51SPEAKER_03: For just for just a bed in a wall.
- 40:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:53SPEAKER_01: That's terrible.
- 40:53SPEAKER_01: Not even in a wall, it's like you're surrounded by everyone.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: So, like, so you've got two people either side, one p person below or on top of you.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: Oh, like so it's basically a hostel.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's literally like staying in bunk beds.
- 41:06SPEAKER_01: That's rubbish.
- 41:06SPEAKER_01: That's so crap.
- 41:08SPEAKER_01: It's horrible, yeah.
- 41:09SPEAKER_01: I would not, I would not enjoy it, I would never do it again.
- 41:12SPEAKER_01: I'm going to Tokyo soon.
- 41:13SPEAKER_01: Are you?
- 41:14SPEAKER_03: In three weeks, yeah.
- 41:15SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 41:15SPEAKER_03: Just to Tokyo, or are you gonna travel around?
- 41:17SPEAKER_03: Just to Tokyo.
- 41:18SPEAKER_03: My girlfriend is is is doing like work out there.
- 41:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice.
- 41:21SPEAKER_03: So um, yeah, gonna go.
- 41:23SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's great there.
- 41:24SPEAKER_01: But very expensive, but it's great.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: Is it?
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: It's expensive.
- 41:28SPEAKER_01: I yeah, but you can do it fine.
- 41:30SPEAKER_01: You can do it.
- 41:31SPEAKER_03: We're going we're going for one like really fancy meal.
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: That um at one of these like, you know, high-end sushi places.
- 41:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, one of the omakasies.
- 41:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, where you can't even wear perfume because they're like, oh, it interferes with the oh wow, you know, the with the taste.
- 41:45SPEAKER_03: So everything, you know, they're like they have such strict rules about how you're supposed to be in there.
- 41:49SPEAKER_03: That's interesting.
- 41:50SPEAKER_03: Um I didn't know that.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: I'd never heard of the perfume thing.
- 41:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: Because it interferes with the old factory senses or whatever.
- 41:57SPEAKER_03: I'm so excited.
- 41:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that would be great.
- 41:59SPEAKER_01: Do you know which one you're going to?
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: Uh I don't even know if I've heard of it.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: It's called sushi something.
- 42:04SPEAKER_03: I've no sushi samba.
- 42:05SPEAKER_03: Sushi Samba, yeah.
- 42:07SPEAKER_01: It's called Wasabi.
- 42:11SPEAKER_01: I um no, I I I we talked about this because you uh you um did stuff in China, didn't you?
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: I did well, yeah.
- 42:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: I did I did the same in Japan.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, you did like teaching?
- 42:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:24SPEAKER_01: Oh brilliant.
- 42:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, how was it?
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: I loved it.
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was so much fun.
- 42:27SPEAKER_03: I loved teaching in China, it was it was so sick.
- 42:30SPEAKER_03: I mean, I I I I was talking about it the other day um to my girlfriend.
- 42:34SPEAKER_03: Like the the I went in on the first day and um at the like I was a heartthrob.
- 42:41SPEAKER_03: Everyone was like, Oh, oh my god, like this teacher, you know, this this new teacher's so hot, like he's he's the hottest one of all of the foreign teachers.
- 42:48SPEAKER_03: And then on the next day, my teaching assistant comes up to me and she was like, She was like, Finn, I'm really sorry, but um you're not the hottest one of the teachers anymore.
- 42:56SPEAKER_03: And I was like, What are you talking about?
- 42:58SPEAKER_03: And she was like, Well, you know, your friend Tom, one of the other teachers that came in, like, um, you know, we didn't really, we didn't really think he was attractive as you, but the thing is, Finn, like you're not mysterious at all.
- 43:10SPEAKER_03: And Tom's really mysterious.
- 43:12SPEAKER_03: What?
- 43:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, because I went in there and I'm like really, you know, confident, like making a fool of myself.
- 43:17SPEAKER_03: Tom sat in the corner, like sort of looking a bit, you know, baleful.
- 43:21SPEAKER_03: And they're like, we love this mysterious, we love you know, mysterious Tom.
- 43:25SPEAKER_03: That's so funny.
- 43:26SPEAKER_03: And they were like, Yeah, you're just too confident for like Chinese women to find you attractive.
- 43:31SPEAKER_03: Why do I why do you even bother being a silly, you know, a goofball when I can just say nothing and sit in the corner?
- 43:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and suddenly everyone fancies me.
- 43:38SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, I was furious.
- 43:40SPEAKER_01: That's really funny.
- 43:42SPEAKER_03: Um but that's such a thing, yeah.
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: Like, I think the same thing happens in Japan as well.
- 43:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think exactly it's exactly the same situation.
- 43:49SPEAKER_01: I didn't have that like heartthrob thing or anything like that, but like, yeah, they they I remember them loving anyone that was like blonde, yeah, white guy, they loved.
- 44:00unknown: Yeah.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: Just remember that.
- 44:01SPEAKER_03: Not me.
- 44:01SPEAKER_03: Well, not me.
- 44:02SPEAKER_03: They said I was too fat as well.
- 44:03SPEAKER_03: That was the other thing they said.
- 44:04SPEAKER_01: That's a really big thing there as well.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:06SPEAKER_03: They were like, they were like, I was like, Finna, you're small fat.
- 44:09SPEAKER_03: And I was like, what do you mean?
- 44:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, small fat.
- 44:10SPEAKER_03: And I was like, what's small fat mean?
- 44:12SPEAKER_03: And then someone was like, oh no, they mean we mean a little fat.
- 44:15SPEAKER_03: Oh god.
- 44:16SPEAKER_03: They used to jiggle my belly and be like, oh, small fat, small fat.
- 44:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:19SPEAKER_03: It's crazy.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: And they try and look at my dick in the toilets.
- 44:22SPEAKER_03: If I ever we used the arinal, 20 kids would just run in.
- 44:25SPEAKER_03: They'd be like, finally, just in the toilet, they're trying to see my dick.
- 44:27SPEAKER_03: What?
- 44:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because they think it's gonna be massive or something.
- 44:30SPEAKER_03: They're looking in it, they'd be very disappointed.
- 44:33SPEAKER_03: These Chinese kids are like, it's so small.
- 44:35SPEAKER_03: What's going on?
- 44:36SPEAKER_03: This is not what we were promising.
- 44:38SPEAKER_03: This is not they lie, they lie about the West.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:44SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, it was.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: I I loved it there though.
- 44:47SPEAKER_01: I had so much so much fun.
- 44:48SPEAKER_01: I think you will really enjoy it there as well as well.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: Like knowing, like, also it's I say this as like you will love the food, you will you'll go crazy for it, and you will you'll love how strange some of the stuff is there as well.
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, I am excited.
- 45:04SPEAKER_03: I am excited.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: I would like how long how many days are you there for?
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: Seven days, nothing.
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: Seven days.
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: Okay, so yeah, well, seven is quite long for Tokyo, it's on its own.
- 45:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: To a to an extent.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: There's there's so much to do in Tokyo, but also like you will you have to go out of your way to go to it's like it's like Well I've done I've done other places in Japan before.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: Oh you have?
- 45:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:24SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay, great.
- 45:25SPEAKER_03: I've done I've done I d I went to Hiroshima once.
- 45:28SPEAKER_03: Oh wow.
- 45:28SPEAKER_03: Um and that was mad.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: That's the most depressing place I've ever been to in my life.
- 45:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 45:33SPEAKER_03: It's really bleak.
- 45:34SPEAKER_03: I mean, we had a tour guide, and every story she told ended with you know, you know, well, you know it's gonna end.
- 45:41SPEAKER_03: And then everyone died.
- 45:42SPEAKER_03: Fucking hell.
- 45:43SPEAKER_03: And um Jesus Christ.
- 45:45SPEAKER_03: And it go it got to the point where my family like you know, the repetition of it, much like in a superhero movie, you know, even when you know it's coming, it still makes you laugh.
- 45:55SPEAKER_03: And uh, you know, she'd be telling me this happy story about oh, and there was this girl, she made a thousand paper cranes in the in the hospital, and then and then they all died.
- 46:04SPEAKER_03: And you're like, oh you know.
- 46:07SPEAKER_03: What is this a fart gag?
- 46:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:10SPEAKER_01: That would actually have liven that, yeah.
- 46:12SPEAKER_01: Um, I l I was living um an hour from uh Fukushima.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like three or four years after the accident.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: Three or four years?
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: Did you go?
- 46:24SPEAKER_01: No, you're not allowed to?
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: No, no, you could, you could go.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:28SPEAKER_01: And one of the people on my training was was put there.
- 46:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 46:31SPEAKER_01: They tried to put me there originally, and I was like, absolutely not.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: I'm not going to I'm not gonna be there.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: I've seen, I've seen like the radiation meter.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: I'm not staying, I'm not, I'm not gonna live there for over a year.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and um, but they put me an hour away, but luckily where I was were it was covered by a mountain.
- 46:51SPEAKER_01: So like where I was was completely protected from all of that.
- 46:54SPEAKER_01: So there was like no radiation where I was.
- 46:56SPEAKER_01: I was like, I'm absolutely not because I requested south and then they put me in the north.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: South Japan?
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I requested the southern part of Japan.
- 47:03SPEAKER_01: So like Osaka, Kyoto, yeah, those areas.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: Obviously, they're like the most picked areas.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: So obviously they didn't put me there, but like Where where'd you end up?
- 47:12SPEAKER_01: What was the place called?
- 47:13SPEAKER_01: Yamagata.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: Was it how uh you know, what was there to do that made it interesting?
- 47:17SPEAKER_01: I mean it was like it was sort of like halfway between the city and the country and countryside.
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: So it was just like it was like a little bit of a town with some city vibes to it, but like it was a lot of karaoke that's and then a lot of shopping.
- 47:34SPEAKER_01: That's the thing to do there.
- 47:35SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 47:36SPEAKER_03: That was the when I went where I went to teach in China was a similar.
- 47:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:40SPEAKER_03: Where did you teach?
- 47:41SPEAKER_03: A place called Huzhou in the in the Zhejiang province, near Shanghai, basically.
- 47:44SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 47:45SPEAKER_03: And um Shang uh karaoke was huge there.
- 47:50SPEAKER_03: Uh you know, everyone was outside at night drinking uh bubble tea and milk tea in the streets.
- 47:55SPEAKER_03: That was a big thing there.
- 47:57SPEAKER_03: Um, I had some I had some brilliant times.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, so did I, yeah.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: I mean it was a lot of fun.
- 48:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's so so different and strange and interesting.
- 48:07SPEAKER_01: It is, yeah.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: Did you find that you did you find that you made a lot of friends in that that were like um that were from the area?
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:18SPEAKER_01: Oh you did.
- 48:18SPEAKER_01: That's interesting because like in Japan, it's a thing where they won't make friends with the teachers.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because they know they're not here for a long time.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: So they won't like the all the teachers end up being having friends with each other and everything.
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: But then like you don't you get like the odd person here or there, but like they won't make it.
- 48:36SPEAKER_03: Well, we know it was quite sad when we had to go and leave them.
- 48:39SPEAKER_03: I was my teaching assistant Wendy, bless her.
- 48:43SPEAKER_03: She actually, well, it wasn't the last time we spoke because she actually did my Chinese exam at uni for me.
- 48:50SPEAKER_03: Because I had because of COVID, I I've got 24-hour online open book exams.
- 48:55SPEAKER_03: So I just sent her my exam and she did it for me.
- 48:57SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 48:58SPEAKER_03: Shout out to Wendy.
- 48:59SPEAKER_03: She's not dead, I don't know why I gestured up there.
- 49:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she's she's watching from bus.
- 49:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, China's down there.
- 49:05SPEAKER_03: Shout out, Wendy.
- 49:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's that's funny.
- 49:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: So this was still what you were still at uni at this point.
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: I was.
- 49:14SPEAKER_01: This was uh this was in my like oh did you do like uh one of those like sandwich course things where it's like the the third out of four years or something?
- 49:21SPEAKER_03: No, it was just it was in the summer summer break between terms.
- 49:26SPEAKER_03: And um, and yeah, it was uh it was like a month-long thing in China.
- 49:32SPEAKER_03: It was good, it was just called Teach English in China with some scheme.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, I thought you were there for way longer.
- 49:37SPEAKER_03: No, I was only there for a month.
- 49:38SPEAKER_01: How long were you in Japan for?
- 49:39SPEAKER_03: Like a year and a half.
- 49:40SPEAKER_03: Bloody hell.
- 49:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:41SPEAKER_03: In Yamagata.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 49:43SPEAKER_03: Bloody hell.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 49:45SPEAKER_03: And they didn't make friends with you at all.
- 49:46SPEAKER_03: No, I made a few friends there.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: No, but the the Japanese people.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, a few.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: I made a few of the Japanese.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: Like there were a few that were like the the ones that did make friends were the ones that had like travelled to like America or like traveled to the UK or something like that, and like had had a little bit more experience with other people.
- 50:04SPEAKER_01: The ones that didn't want to make friends had like no experience leaving Japan.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: And it's like, okay, well.
- 50:10SPEAKER_01: Maybe they're quite into low.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: How's your Japanese?
- 50:12SPEAKER_01: Bad now.
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: It was like I could get by on like mostly understanding what they were saying, but like now it's awful.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:19SPEAKER_01: Makudanarodot, that's McDonald's.
- 50:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: Do you know what do you know what Ronald McDonald is called there?
- 50:24SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know.
- 50:26SPEAKER_01: Donald McDonald.
- 50:27SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 50:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, cuz because of the R.
- 50:30SPEAKER_01: Ah, that makes sense.
- 50:32SPEAKER_03: Donald McDonald, that's good stuff.
- 50:34SPEAKER_03: It was very funny seeing that for the first time.
- 50:35SPEAKER_03: Do you know what they um do you know what they call um spaghetti in Chinese?
- 50:41SPEAKER_01: No.
- 50:41SPEAKER_03: Italy noodles.
- 50:42SPEAKER_03: That's great.
- 50:43SPEAKER_03: That's just a neg, isn't it?
- 50:44SPEAKER_03: That's great.
- 50:46SPEAKER_03: Italy noodles.
- 50:47SPEAKER_03: Italy noodles.
- 50:47SPEAKER_03: The Italians would be fuming it.
- 50:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they would.
- 50:49SPEAKER_03: It's a not noodles, it's a completely different thing.
- 50:52SPEAKER_01: That's so funny.
- 50:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 50:54SPEAKER_01: They've got a thing, actually, and uh you might even see this when you're there, like, but they've got a thing in Japan where they're like obsess with like Italian cuisine, but it's like Japanese, it's like a Japanese version of Italian cuisine.
- 51:06SPEAKER_01: So it's like it's really bad.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: It's it's so bad.
- 51:10SPEAKER_03: But they're about fuming at that Italian.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: Like even I was looking at it, I was like, I'm I'm not eating this.
- 51:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:17SPEAKER_03: I I I've I've I've seen uh I don't want to try that bloody like noodles carbonara thing that they've got over in Japan looks absolutely terrible.
- 51:25SPEAKER_03: The the It's all over TikTok.
- 51:27SPEAKER_01: It's like Oh, that's Korean.
- 51:28SPEAKER_01: Oh, is it Korean?
- 51:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:29SPEAKER_01: But it's it's n it's fine.
- 51:32SPEAKER_01: It's like not anything really.
- 51:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: I don't know why it's so popular.
- 51:38SPEAKER_01: I guess like there's so many things on TikTok where I'm like, I don't know why that's popular.
- 51:41SPEAKER_01: They sell alcohol in KFC in Japan.
- 51:43unknown: Yeah.
- 51:43SPEAKER_01: Sorry, in China, sorry.
- 51:44SPEAKER_03: They did it in Japan as well.
- 51:46SPEAKER_03: Pretty sure they do.
- 51:47SPEAKER_03: That that threw me.
- 51:49SPEAKER_03: It was delicious as well.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 51:51SPEAKER_01: Um I had um yeah, they would sell sake everywhere.
- 51:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:57SPEAKER_01: And whiskey.
- 51:58SPEAKER_01: Whiskey is good there.
- 51:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:59SPEAKER_01: For relaxing times.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: Make it that was that was the film I was watching.
- 52:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:05SPEAKER_01: That was the film the the the nudicy one.
- 52:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, was it?
- 52:08SPEAKER_03: That's the translation.
- 52:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was when they were in the strip club and like it just paused on the film I was watching.
- 52:13SPEAKER_03: Sucking now my titties like you want.
- 52:15SPEAKER_03: That's the song that's playing.
- 52:16SPEAKER_01: I love that film.
- 52:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's great.
- 52:19SPEAKER_01: Um I was like, well, it was on it was on the plane.
- 52:21SPEAKER_01: I was like, surely I gotta watch it on my way to Japan.
- 52:23SPEAKER_01: Of course, of course.
- 52:24SPEAKER_03: You know, you do, but before you go to Japan, everyone needs to watch Lost and Transformation.
- 52:27SPEAKER_01: I had seen it.
- 52:29SPEAKER_03: I watched it before my girlfriend went to Japan.
- 52:31SPEAKER_03: We I watched, I watched it with her.
- 52:32SPEAKER_03: I'm like, listen, yeah, yeah.
- 52:33SPEAKER_03: I hate to be a film bro guy, but you do need to watch this.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, just on the topic of that, then like so we've kind of talked about this.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: We talked about superhero movie.
- 52:43SPEAKER_01: I don't think there's like a whole is there anything else that you want to like talk about with it or about a superhero movie.
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: Um otherwise we'll move on to the the final section.
- 52:51SPEAKER_03: It's quite funny when he's stuck to the ceiling, he starts pissing.
- 52:54SPEAKER_03: And when he starts pissing in eight eight streams going out of his dick.
- 52:58SPEAKER_03: That's it, I guess.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: Because it starts off as like one drop and then it's like Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 53:03SPEAKER_03: I mean, that's the thing.
- 53:04SPEAKER_03: Instead of s instead of sweat dropping from his nose, yeah, it's piss coming in because he's wrong a big gulf.
- 53:14SPEAKER_03: So it makes me so stupid, but it's great.
- 53:17SPEAKER_03: It's so good.
- 53:18SPEAKER_03: It's just I think those films were especially funny with the hindsight of like how hard it is to get a movie made now.
- 53:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 53:24SPEAKER_03: That makes you laugh so much harder at all the dumb jokes.
- 53:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 53:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, I I I love, yeah.
- 53:30SPEAKER_01: I can't believe I just think I just think like I don't know.
- 53:35SPEAKER_01: We we both know how hard it is to get stuff made now, like anything.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 53:39SPEAKER_01: It's just crazy.
- 53:40SPEAKER_01: Like, I can't believe this actually got made.
- 53:42SPEAKER_01: It's brilliant.
- 53:44SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and uh, it's sad that this was kind of the last of a of a of a genre.
- 53:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 53:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 53:51SPEAKER_01: I I know they're making Scary Movie 6 now, so that's another thing, and like hopefully there's something there because that the Wayans brothers are making it.
- 53:59SPEAKER_03: So Okay, it could be good.
- 54:00SPEAKER_01: And the entire the original cast are coming back.
- 54:03SPEAKER_01: What what what have they left to spoof with Scary Movie?
- 54:06SPEAKER_03: They surely have done everything by now.
- 54:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's so many the the the genre of horror movies now is just like it's gonna be like weapons and sinners and like all of that all of that kind of stuff now.
- 54:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:17SPEAKER_01: That's the more psychological thrillers, maybe.
- 54:20SPEAKER_01: That's what it's gonna be now.
- 54:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's a good point.
- 54:22SPEAKER_03: I guess the genre has changed a little bit.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: Insidious.
- 54:25SPEAKER_03: They couldn't make or they couldn't make a parody of superhero movie movies now because they're all the budgets are so huge.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: No, that oh, that would be really interesting to see like a superbook.
- 54:33SPEAKER_01: Like an Avengers spoof.
- 54:35SPEAKER_01: That's I guess that's probably why they haven't even thought about trying to make anything like that now.
- 54:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: That'd be good.
- 54:41SPEAKER_01: And also that's that's the entire I think that's like 90% of movies now.
- 54:46SPEAKER_01: It's just superhero movies.
- 54:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:48SPEAKER_01: Which is crazy.
- 54:48SPEAKER_01: And like I'm so I've said this like I've said this like a few times in the last few weeks, but I'm so sick of watching those movies now.
- 54:55SPEAKER_01: I'm so over them.
- 54:56SPEAKER_03: I never even I I watched the Avengers and I was like, oh yeah, that's that's I've had my fill.
- 55:01SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 55:01SPEAKER_03: Avengers, I I was like, Avengers is great.
- 55:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 55:04SPEAKER_03: But um I don't understand why why there's so many I and I I don't have time to catch up on all the lore.
- 55:10SPEAKER_01: Again, like, yeah, there's too much now.
- 55:12SPEAKER_01: I get I gave up like once it started pivoting to TV stuff, I'm like, I can't, I just can't keep up with it.
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 55:17SPEAKER_01: Uh so I'm just over it.
- 55:19SPEAKER_01: Um, okay, so to let's talk about the the opposite of this, which is the final segment, which is um do you have a reverse of this, which is you said you did, you said you had a very good one, which is uh a movie that's uh very well reviewed that you actually think is a bad movie.
- 55:36SPEAKER_03: I've got two.
- 55:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 55:38SPEAKER_03: One of them is When Harry Met Sally.
- 55:40SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 55:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think that's trash.
- 55:42SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 55:42SPEAKER_03: And the other one is Eternal Sunshine and the Spotless Mind.
- 55:45SPEAKER_03: Oh I think that I think Eternal Sunshine and the Spotless Mind is so bad.
- 55:49SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 55:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:50SPEAKER_01: Those are like two of my favourite movies.
- 55:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 55:53SPEAKER_03: You're wrong.
- 55:54SPEAKER_03: When Harry Met Sally pisses me off because it's just a man being condescending to a woman the entire film.
- 56:00SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 56:01SPEAKER_03: I get that, yeah.
- 56:02SPEAKER_03: Harry is awful.
- 56:04SPEAKER_03: But also Sally's useless.
- 56:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 56:06SPEAKER_03: She's like so ditzy and like and I feel like she's like a you know, caricature of like a sort of dumb blonde woman.
- 56:14SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 56:15SPEAKER_03: Um, that he gets like to take a lot of easy pot shots at.
- 56:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 56:19SPEAKER_01: That that is the stuff that doesn't hold up as well now.
- 56:21SPEAKER_01: Like I think it's I think it's so I just think it's really well written though.
- 56:27SPEAKER_01: And it other than like that kind of stuff, I think it's so well written as a as I don't know.
- 56:32SPEAKER_03: I just can't, I I can't get past him and how snivelling and kind of annoying he is.
- 56:36SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 56:37SPEAKER_03: And he and he's like, let me tell you about you.
- 56:39SPEAKER_03: This is the thing about you.
- 56:40SPEAKER_03: I just can't.
- 56:41SPEAKER_03: I'm like, sh I just ugh, every time he speaks pisses me off.
- 56:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, fair enough.
- 56:44SPEAKER_03: Um Eternal Sunday of the Spotless Mind.
- 56:48SPEAKER_03: Uh it's just too sappy.
- 56:50SPEAKER_03: It's just too sappy for me.
- 56:51SPEAKER_03: Sappy?
- 56:52SPEAKER_03: I don't think it I don't think it earns it.
- 56:53SPEAKER_03: Some films are sappy in a way that I'm like, you've earned this.
- 56:56SPEAKER_03: I've never heard it described as sappy.
- 56:58SPEAKER_03: It's so sappy, you're joking.
- 56:59SPEAKER_03: When he's like depressed at the start and he's like, oh my god, it's like I'm so depressed, I just got on a random train.
- 57:04SPEAKER_03: I'm so I'm so crazy.
- 57:06SPEAKER_03: I I at that point I already was like, I hate this.
- 57:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 57:10SPEAKER_01: I think people have kind of she she's almost become a that whole that whole thing of like this is not a term that like gets this is a problematic term now, but like Manic Pixie Dream Girl, she's kind of that yeah uh archetype, and it's I think that people lent into her character a lot and have taken embraced that and she's annoying as well.
- 57:33SPEAKER_01: I think but I think this is why in hindsight people are looking back on it now and like, oh, it's very like you say, it's very sappy.
- 57:41SPEAKER_03: She's yeah, she's annoying, she's yeah, not uh she's like quirky, but not you're not actually quirky.
- 57:47SPEAKER_03: Quirky.
- 57:48SPEAKER_03: I mean he's just a mopey little bastard.
- 57:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, again, I grew up, mate.
- 57:51SPEAKER_01: I find him really annoying in it.
- 57:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 57:53SPEAKER_01: I do find him annoying.
- 57:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:55SPEAKER_01: I think the side characters are a lot better in it.
- 57:57SPEAKER_03: I I think the premise is really interesting, and it doesn't live up to how interesting the premise is.
- 58:02SPEAKER_03: Do you not think like visually though it's incredible?
- 58:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, visually it's not bad.
- 58:06SPEAKER_03: Not bad.
- 58:07SPEAKER_01: But I don't think it's like I don't think it's like striking.
- 58:10SPEAKER_01: But like there's so many inventive things in that movie where they're like it's all playing with like it's all on camera techniques as well, which is what I find so interesting.
- 58:18SPEAKER_01: Like it's all like the way he's when he's like supposed to be he's thinking back and he's like he's a child, but he's the same person and he's like walking around and the table is like he's going under the table.
- 58:31SPEAKER_01: It's all camera tricks.
- 58:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 58:34SPEAKER_01: I think that's so cool.
- 58:36SPEAKER_03: I I think you know, there's there's some camera tricks that are just as inventive in superhero movie.
- 58:42SPEAKER_01: When he's oh when he's when he's crawling up the wall.
- 58:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 58:45SPEAKER_01: He starts breakdancing.
- 58:47SPEAKER_01: Oh, that was that was the worst thing.
- 58:48SPEAKER_01: That was the worst, that was the worst joke.
- 58:51SPEAKER_01: That was the worst joke.
- 58:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it also goes on for too long.
- 58:55SPEAKER_03: But it's it's it's made up for when he pushes the woman into the wood chipper and then the dog gets pulled up on the leash.
- 59:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 59:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 59:04SPEAKER_01: That was that yeah.
- 59:05SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 59:05SPEAKER_01: There are some very good gags in this movie that I I really do enjoy, but like it's it's such a weird movie, and I can't believe that got like I I cannot believe it.
- 59:16SPEAKER_01: I'm just reading now, like it was not screened for critics, I'm not surprised.
- 59:19SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, but yeah.
- 59:20SPEAKER_01: But like no soup no spoof movie ever is.
- 59:23SPEAKER_01: Um and then, yeah.
- 59:26SPEAKER_01: Interestingly, it was supposed to be directed by the director of the of the naked gun, but then he had to like stand back.
- 59:33SPEAKER_01: He had to stand down for some reason, but like he stayed on as a producer.
- 59:38SPEAKER_01: So like I think that's part of the reason it also is probably working.
- 59:42SPEAKER_01: And it like I don't know.
- 59:43SPEAKER_01: I I did enjoy this so much more than I thought I was going to.
- 59:46SPEAKER_03: I was really like, this is gonna be atrocious, but yeah, no, it is it's it's it's better than I thought it was gonna be watching it back.
- 59:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 59:54SPEAKER_03: But yeah, you need to watch it, you need to watch it with a load of friends.
- 59:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, this is a this is a on group movie on drugs, yeah.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_03: You know, you've just you've the it's it's that perfect.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_01: And the thing is, I watched this alone, so yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_01: So I think how much how much more I would have enjoyed it.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_01: And it's quick, quick, an hour seven minutes and now if you cut out, if you skip ahead from the the opening credits, it's an hour, it's an hour.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_01: Like you it's you can watch it and just watch it on your lunch break.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_01: Um okay, so this is yeah, thank you so much for coming on.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_01: Uh it's been really fun.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_01: Like, have you got anything?
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_01: Well, do you want to promote your special?
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_01: Do you want to promote anything else at the moment?
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_03: Sure, yeah.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_03: The two things, my special Aura Farmer, on YouTube, and uh also watch a comedy thing by channel four on YouTube as well.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_01: Also, really fun.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_01: Also, um friend of the show, Olga Cox is on it.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_01: Um well, I'll definitely have the other people on it as well.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_01: It's a really fun show where like there's so many things that happen on it.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_01: Each each episode's something completely different.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's just it's it's it's good content, it's it's good um fun games.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_03: And great comedians as well.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so many people on it.
