- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. Over in the UK, we've talked about Peter
- 0:08Speaker 1: Mandelson and we've talked about Prince Andrew and the fact
- 0:12Speaker 1: that they, allegedly, were passing Jeffrey Epstein confidential information. Well,
- 0:18Speaker 1: I think that same question should be asked about Larry Summers.
- 0:22Speaker 1: What did he give Jeffrey Epstein as far as confidential information?
- 0:26Speaker 1: How many secrets of America did Larry Summers spill? And
- 0:30Speaker 1: I think all of that's relevant. And I think all
- 0:32Speaker 1: those questions need to be asked under oath, not voluntarily,
- 0:38Speaker 1: not at his convenience, but under oath. Because if you
- 0:41Speaker 1: don't think that Jeffrey Epstein was trying to utilize his
- 0:45Speaker 1: friendship with Larry Summers to enrich himself somehow, you have
- 0:48Speaker 1: not been paying attention. That is the only reason that
- 0:51Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein engaged in these relationships. It wasn't out of
- 0:56Speaker 1: the kindness of his heart. He wasn't altruistic. He wasn't
- 0:59Speaker 1: trying to save the world. He was trying to consolidate
- 1:03Speaker 1: his power. So the question is, just how much help
- 1:06Speaker 1: did he get from Larry Summers to do that? Today's
- 1:09Speaker 1: article is from the Eastern Herald and the headline, Larry
- 1:13Speaker 1: Summers' 2013 Middle East Briefing Surfaces in the Epstein Files.
- 1:19Speaker 1: This article was authored by Newsroom. A two-page Middle East
- 1:24Speaker 1: policy briefing bearing Larry Summers' name and House Oversight Committee
- 1:28Speaker 1: document numbers have surfaced in the Epstein files, providing a
- 1:32Speaker 1: window into the kind of material that flowed through the
- 1:35Speaker 1: former Treasury Secretary's connection to Jeffrey Epstein during the Arab Spring.
- 1:40Speaker 1: And if you remember, a lot of that Arab Spring
- 1:43Speaker 1: was astroturfed by the CIA. Let's just call it what
- 1:47Speaker 1: it is, right? The document cataloged as House Oversight Pages
- 1:52Speaker 1: 029689 and 029690 states, covers political and security conditions across
- 1:59Speaker 1: 10 countries, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Jordan, Syria, Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia,
- 2:07Speaker 1: and Yemen, from late January to mid-February of 2013. The
- 2:12Speaker 1: name Larry Summers appears at the top. The scope of
- 2:15Speaker 1: the analysis covering everything from Tunisia's political assassination crisis to
- 2:20Speaker 1: nuclear negotiations between Iran and P5 +, 1, And it
- 2:24Speaker 1: reflects the kind of synthesis typically prepared for heads of
- 2:27Speaker 1: state or senior policy officials, not casual correspondence. And that's
- 2:32Speaker 1: because Jeffrey Epstein was looped in. And at this point,
- 2:35Speaker 1: I think you'd be crazy to think that Larry Summers
- 2:37Speaker 1: didn't pass on confidential information to Jeffrey Epstein. Now look,
- 2:42Speaker 1: we don't have evidence of that. That's available to us.
- 2:46Speaker 1: But I'll tell you what, it's not looking good for Mr. Summers.
- 2:50Speaker 1: And I think the same kind of investigation that we
- 2:52Speaker 1: see with Mandelson... or with Prince Andrew, should happen here.
- 2:56Speaker 1: How many officials were giving Jeffrey Epstein information in America? What,
- 3:01Speaker 1: he was only getting information from people in the English government?
- 3:06Speaker 1: What the document cannot establish by itself is whether Summers
- 3:09Speaker 1: wrote the briefing for Epstein directly, forwarded an existing analysis,
- 3:14Speaker 1: or whether it reached Epstein through another route. Summers has
- 3:18Speaker 1: not addressed this document specifically. What the White House oversight
- 3:21Speaker 1: material as a whole have established is that Summers-Epstein relationship
- 3:26Speaker 1: was substantive, long-running, and extended well beyond the social introduction
- 3:31Speaker 1: that first drew scrutiny. Oh, there is no doubt. They
- 3:34Speaker 1: were super close. Larry Summers spent his fucking honeymoon on
- 3:40Speaker 1: Epstein's island. I would say they're pretty close. And if
- 3:44Speaker 1: Ted Waite had to give a deposition, then Larry Summers'
- 3:47Speaker 1: bitch ass should too. Summers introduced former President Clinton to
- 3:52Speaker 1: Epstein in the early 2000s. Uh, what? How's that possible?
- 3:56Speaker 1: Because Jeffrey Epstein was already at the White House before then,
- 4:00Speaker 1: 17 times. But okay. Clinton testified before the House Oversight
- 4:06Speaker 1: Committee in March. He lied. I told you during the
- 4:10Speaker 1: testimony that Bill Clinton was lying. And real talk, I
- 4:13Speaker 1: don't think one single person that has been before Congress
- 4:16Speaker 1: has told us the whole truth. Summers said that he
- 4:20Speaker 1: described Epstein as an information-hungry person who had contributed several
- 4:24Speaker 1: million dollars to brain research. When the committee released emails
- 4:28Speaker 1: between Summers and Epstein from around 2019, exchanges in which
- 4:33Speaker 1: Summers sought personal advice from Epstein, Summers publicly stated he
- 4:37Speaker 1: was deeply ashamed of his actions and resigned from the
- 4:40Speaker 1: board of OpenAI days later. Well, he should have never
- 4:44Speaker 1: been on the board. People act like they didn't know
- 4:47Speaker 1: about this. They did. We've been talking about Larry Summers
- 4:51Speaker 1: for how long and the role that he played? All
- 4:55Speaker 1: of a sudden it's a big surprise, a big shock?
- 5:00Speaker 1: The 2013 briefing adds a different dimension to that record.
- 5:03Speaker 1: The 2019 emails show the personal register of the relationship
- 5:08Speaker 1: the briefing prepared six years earlier shows its intellectual one.
- 5:12Speaker 1: A former Treasury Secretary's country-by-country foreign policy survey? requiring access
- 5:18Speaker 1: to senior diplomatic reporting or to officials who had it,
- 5:21Speaker 1: was in Epstein's possession and bears Epstein's congressional document numbers.
- 5:26Speaker 1: So that's a big deal. This man should not have
- 5:29Speaker 1: had this information, but he did. And it sure looks
- 5:32Speaker 1: like Larry Summers was the source of that information making
- 5:35Speaker 1: its way to Epstein's hands. So, what are we going
- 5:38Speaker 1: to do about it? Was any crime committed? We have
- 5:43Speaker 1: no idea, because the DOJ... refuses to investigate. But I
- 5:48Speaker 1: think the truth is overwhelming at this point, and the
- 5:51Speaker 1: more they refuse, the more they show us their hand.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Its contents reflect the urgency of a moment when the
- 5:58Speaker 1: Arab Spring was destabilizing governments across North Africa and the
- 6:02Speaker 1: Levant simultaneously. On Tunisia, the document describes the assassination of
- 6:08Speaker 1: Chokri Balad, the leftist opposition leader shot dead outside his
- 6:12Speaker 1: home in Tunis on February 6, 2013. an event Prime
- 6:17Speaker 1: Minister Hamadi Jabali called the assassination of the Tunisian Revolution.
- 6:22Speaker 1: On Egypt, it describes the army's public warning of a
- 6:25Speaker 1: collapse of the state following a week of violence, marking
- 6:28Speaker 1: the second anniversary of the 2011 revolution, which left more
- 6:32Speaker 1: than 50 dead and triggered curfews and a state emergency
- 6:35Speaker 1: across three cities. And if you remember, the Arab Spring
- 6:39Speaker 1: was most certainly not organic. That shit was astroturfed. Now,
- 6:44Speaker 1: that doesn't mean that the people... didn't have a grievance,
- 6:47Speaker 1: they did. But Western intelligence services stoked the fire. And
- 6:52Speaker 1: we have to be honest about that, right? We have
- 6:55Speaker 1: to be honest. Because that's what happened. And I don't
- 7:00Speaker 1: know about you, but I don't think the results of
- 7:02Speaker 1: the Arab Spring turned out to be too beneficial. Ever
- 7:05Speaker 1: hear of a group called ISIS? And not only that,
- 7:08Speaker 1: it gave a lot of these governments a reason to
- 7:11Speaker 1: crack down on the people. On Syria, the briefing describes
- 7:15Speaker 1: what it calls the general belief that Israeli warplanes struck
- 7:18Speaker 1: a convoy carrying sophisticated anti-aircraft weaponry to Hezbollah on January 30th.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Noting the attack drew a sharp threat of retaliation from
- 7:28Speaker 1: both the Syrian and Iranian governments. On Israel, it records
- 7:32Speaker 1: Yair Lapid's centrist Yesh Atid party winning 19 Nesset seats
- 7:38Speaker 1: and notes that the party maintained an ambiguous stance on
- 7:42Speaker 1: the peace process. Israel's January 29th boycott of a UN
- 7:47Speaker 1: review of its human rights practices is described as a
- 7:50Speaker 1: breach of an established practice of cooperation. That leaves a
- 7:54Speaker 1: question of human rights in occupied Palestinian territories outside the
- 7:58Speaker 1: jurisdiction of the international community. So look, why did Epstein
- 8:02Speaker 1: have access to any of this? That's the real question.
- 8:06Speaker 1: We're not going to get down into the details about,
- 8:08Speaker 1: you know, the Palestinian territories, etc., etc., What we're going
- 8:12Speaker 1: to talk about is why Epstein had that information in
- 8:14Speaker 1: the first place. Is anybody going to ask that question?
- 8:18Speaker 1: And why would Larry Summers send it to him if
- 8:20Speaker 1: it was Summers that he got it from? And if
- 8:22Speaker 1: it wasn't Summers, where did he get it from? On Iran,
- 8:28Speaker 1: the briefing covers Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's February 5, 2013 visit to Cairo,
- 8:34Speaker 1: the first by an Iranian president since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
- 8:39Speaker 1: and a February 26 round of nuclear talks between Iran
- 8:43Speaker 1: and the P5-plus-1, the first at political director's level since
- 8:47Speaker 1: Moscow in June of 2012. The document also records a
- 8:52Speaker 1: then-unusual public rupture between Ahmadinejad and parliamentary speaker Ali Larajani
- 8:59Speaker 1: over mutual recriminations about corrupt family members and associates. Well,
- 9:03Speaker 1: that's rich. The mullahs over in Iran calling each other corrupt?
- 9:09Speaker 1: Breaking news, the whole lot of them are corrupt. The
- 9:13Speaker 1: coverage extends to Libya, where EU foreign policy chief Catherine
- 9:17Speaker 1: Ashton had announced a two-year civil mission to secure the
- 9:20Speaker 1: country's 4,000-kilometer border following the Algeria terrorist incident and the
- 9:25Speaker 1: Mali crisis, Jordan, where the Muslim Brotherhood boycotted parliamentary elections,
- 9:30Speaker 1: and King Abdullah was making visits to Buran, the UAE,
- 9:34Speaker 1: and Kuwait and Yemen, where a UN Secretary-Council delegation visited
- 9:39Speaker 1: President Hadi amid large demonstrations over the treatment of former
- 9:43Speaker 1: President Ali Abdullah Salah under the Gulf Cooperation Council immunity arrangement.
- 9:49Speaker 1: And Epstein was in the middle of all of this. Why?
- 9:51Speaker 1: If he was just a lone predator, a guy that
- 9:54Speaker 1: was out here, you know, just diddling people and watching
- 9:57Speaker 1: disgusting videos, how is he in the middle of all
- 10:00Speaker 1: of this? Is anybody going to answer that question? The
- 10:04Speaker 1: intelligence dimension of Epstein's network has grown as a distinct
- 10:08Speaker 1: thread of the House Oversight Investigation. With Vice President J.D.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Vance saying Epstein had connections to the highest levels of
- 10:16Speaker 1: Israeli and U.S. intelligence, the first such claim by a
- 10:19Speaker 1: sitting American official. Well, it's true, he did. Does that
- 10:23Speaker 1: mean he was a special agent for the Mossad or
- 10:26Speaker 1: the CIA? No, he was an asset. The 2013 Summers
- 10:33Speaker 1: briefing does not bear on those intelligence connections directly. What
- 10:37Speaker 1: it does bear on is the category of materials Epstein assembled,
- 10:41Speaker 1: the kind that, in different hands, would be restricted to
- 10:44Speaker 1: official channels. And that's the real issue. Where did he
- 10:47Speaker 1: get this stuff? Who was giving it to him? And
- 10:50Speaker 1: why was he involved? House lawmakers called in June for
- 10:55Speaker 1: Summers and Alan Dershowitz to testify before the committee about
- 10:58Speaker 1: their ties to Epstein. Dershowitz later backed out of a
- 11:02Speaker 1: voluntary interview, prompting committee chairman James Comer to threaten a subpoena.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Whether Summers will appear in a closed session or what
- 11:10Speaker 1: questions the committee will direct at documents like this briefing
- 11:14Speaker 1: has not been made public. Summers has also announced he's
- 11:17Speaker 1: resigning from Harvard. The Summers-Epstein record as documented so far
- 11:22Speaker 1: shows a former Treasury Secretary who introduced the U.S. President
- 11:26Speaker 1: to the financier, maintained correspondence with him in 2019 in
- 11:31Speaker 1: which he sought personal advice, and whose name appears at
- 11:34Speaker 1: the top of a high-grade foreign policy briefing covering 10
- 11:38Speaker 1: governments at one of the most volatile moments in recent
- 11:41Speaker 1: Middle East history. What Epstein did with any of it
- 11:45Speaker 1: is not something the available materials answer. What they show
- 11:49Speaker 1: is the architecture of access that he assembled and what
- 11:52Speaker 1: that access produced in document form. And it's only the
- 11:56Speaker 1: tip of the iceberg. Can you imagine the kind of
- 11:58Speaker 1: information this dude was getting? It's going to be staggering.
- 12:04Speaker 1: And if you think this is the only email address
- 12:06Speaker 1: he had, you're crazy. And as this continues to move forward,
- 12:09Speaker 1: there might be a chance that Larry Summers gets caught
- 12:11Speaker 1: up in a situation like we see Mandelson and Andrew
- 12:15Speaker 1: dealing with over in the UK. And considering what we know,
- 12:18Speaker 1: I think that would be a good idea. So, like usual,
- 12:21Speaker 1: we'll see what happens. And when we have some more developments,
- 12:24Speaker 1: we'll get those added to the catalog as well. All
- 12:27Speaker 1: the information that goes with this episode can be found
- 12:30Speaker 1: in the description box.
