- 2:35Speaker 3: How he leads your life in directions that you never
- 2:38Speaker 3: ever saw coming.
- 2:39Speaker 1: You know.
- 2:39Speaker 3: I was talking with somebody the other day and they
- 2:41Speaker 3: were talking about how man, they were young, and they
- 2:44Speaker 3: were doing things, and they never knew that the things
- 2:47Speaker 3: that they were doing as a youngster would come and
- 2:52Speaker 3: help help form who they were today as an adult.
- 2:56Speaker 3: This guy is fifty years old, and you know the
- 2:59Speaker 3: same thing for you. If you look back on your
- 3:01Speaker 3: life and all of the things that you've done, it
- 3:05Speaker 3: helped shape you into who you are now. This is
- 3:09Speaker 3: provided now that you take the positive approach. Now when
- 3:13Speaker 3: I say look back at your life and see what
- 3:15Speaker 3: you've done, that doesn't mean dwell on the misfortunate moments,
- 3:19Speaker 3: because the misfortunate moments were necessary.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I know it.
- 3:23Speaker 3: It's hard to see that when it's happening to you,
- 3:26Speaker 3: but the unfortunate moments are necessary. You know, what really
- 3:31Speaker 3: makes you appreciate summer vacation is winter work. What really
- 3:36Speaker 3: makes you appreciate a walk on the beach is when
- 3:39Speaker 3: it's cold is rained in our side. What really makes
- 3:43Speaker 3: you appreciate when you're up, it's because you've been down.
- 3:47Speaker 3: See if you were up all the time, just the
- 3:51Speaker 3: nature of us as human beings, we would lose our
- 3:54Speaker 3: appreciation for it because it becomes case arrah. Whatever it is, well,
- 3:58Speaker 3: it is what it is, just what what you take
- 4:02Speaker 3: it for granted, it becomes expected. But what happens in
- 4:05Speaker 3: life is it has so many twisting turns, and then
- 4:09Speaker 3: you learn how to deal with those twisting turns, which
- 4:11Speaker 3: makes you now a more experienced person. And then when
- 4:15Speaker 3: the sunny days come, man, you go wild. It's really
- 4:17Speaker 3: nice outside. You really want to appreciate how warm weather.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Just stay in a bunch of cold weather all the time.
- 4:24Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. I'm just this is really
- 4:26Speaker 3: simpler now a loud analogies, but it helps you along
- 4:29Speaker 3: the way. Now here's what I came to say today
- 4:33Speaker 3: to everybody out there. And this has helped me in
- 4:36Speaker 3: my life. I can't tell you what it's done for me,
- 4:40Speaker 3: but a lot of people are struggling with moving forward
- 4:45Speaker 3: with their future, their future plans, their future goals, their
- 4:50Speaker 3: future aspirations, their future hopes, their future dreams. Just simply
- 4:56Speaker 3: that your future wants a lot of people trying to
- 4:59Speaker 3: have a hard time mapping out their future. Even what
- 5:03Speaker 3: I'm gonna do, what I'm gonna be, what I'm gonna make,
- 5:07Speaker 3: how I'm or go about it? What do I do next?
- 5:10Speaker 3: I want to share something with you that I had
- 5:12Speaker 3: to come to terms with. The quickest way to lose
- 5:16Speaker 3: focus on your future is to keep focusing on your past.
- 5:21Speaker 3: You know, It's like I said at the beginning, you know,
- 5:23Speaker 3: when I say it's wonderful to look at your life
- 5:27Speaker 3: and review it, because if you look at it, it'll
- 5:29Speaker 3: tell you it really helped shape inform you today as
- 5:34Speaker 3: the person you are now. If you look at it
- 5:37Speaker 3: in a positive sense. But if you dwell in harp
- 5:40Speaker 3: on the negative that's happened to you, then that keeps
- 5:44Speaker 3: you from seeing the good in the incident, every bad
- 5:47Speaker 3: thing that's happened to you, that was a.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Silver lining behind it.
- 5:51Speaker 3: I know people who were on drugs who finally, man,
- 5:55Speaker 3: just got sent to prison for stealing because of their habit.
- 5:58Speaker 3: I don't cat that's so dope. Well, he went to prison,
- 6:02Speaker 3: he told me one time, he says Steve. He said, man,
- 6:05Speaker 3: this is the best thing ever happened to me to
- 6:07Speaker 3: save my life. Now, most people would think, how in
- 6:10Speaker 3: the world is going to prison helpful for you? The
- 6:14Speaker 3: brother said, it saved my life. First of all, it
- 6:18Speaker 3: got me clean. He said, I've been clean for five
- 6:21Speaker 3: years from sitting in here. That's for starters. I'm clean.
- 6:25Speaker 3: I ain't stealing no more. I ain't putting myself in jeopardy,
- 6:28Speaker 3: and I ain't jeopardizing nobody else.
- 6:30Speaker 1: He said.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Now, man, I done went to college. I done got
- 6:33Speaker 3: a college degree while I'm in here. Then he was
- 6:37Speaker 3: released from prison, and the brother's life was completely turned around.
- 6:41Speaker 3: He married, he got a family, he got a great job.
- 6:45Speaker 3: He go to work every day. He's a productive citizen.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I mean.
- 6:49Speaker 3: So he looks back on his incarceration, even his drug abuse,
- 6:55Speaker 3: and it taught him how to appreciate the things in
- 6:58Speaker 3: life that he had taken for granted and was missing
- 7:01Speaker 3: because he said, man, my life was just in a blur.
- 7:04Speaker 3: I didn't even know what was going on. He said,
- 7:07Speaker 3: Now I appreciate every day I wake up. That's what
- 7:09Speaker 3: I mean. Even in your missteps in life, there is
- 7:13Speaker 3: a purpose for the missteps.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Every time you fail, there was a reason for the failure.
- 7:20Speaker 3: See what I had to do was I had to
- 7:22Speaker 3: learn that all of my failures taught me how to
- 7:25Speaker 3: get back up. So I became a very strong and
- 7:28Speaker 3: tough person in getting back up. And then I was
- 7:32Speaker 3: down and now so long that it taught me how
- 7:35Speaker 3: to really appreciate that up. And so I've taken all
- 7:39Speaker 3: of that and used it those experiences that happened to me,
- 7:43Speaker 3: and I became a more experienced person. So next time
- 7:47Speaker 3: when people talk about me who don't know me. It
- 7:50Speaker 3: don't shake me, cause everybody not gonna like you. Man,
- 7:53Speaker 3: you might as well go and get on this train
- 7:55Speaker 3: right now. And so what I'm saying to you out
- 7:58Speaker 3: there is way to lose focus on your future is
- 8:02Speaker 3: to keep focusing on your past. Let it go. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 8:06Speaker 3: he left. Sometimes the breakup is the blessing. I know
- 8:10Speaker 3: it's hard to break up because now you're loaning you
- 8:13Speaker 3: by yourself. But man, but wasn't you in misery when
- 8:15Speaker 3: you was in that? Weren't you in complete misery in that?
- 8:21Speaker 3: Now you kept asking God to fix it. But it
- 8:23Speaker 3: takes two people to fix a relationship. It don't just
- 8:26Speaker 3: take one. It take two to make a thing go right.
- 8:30Speaker 3: It take two to make it out of sight. You
- 8:33Speaker 3: really do have to have two people wanting a relationship
- 8:36Speaker 3: to work. It can't just be one person want a relationship.
- 8:39Speaker 3: So you can pray about the relationship all you want.
- 8:42Speaker 3: If the other person don't want you no more, it
- 8:44Speaker 3: ain't gonna act right. You can't make him do that
- 8:47Speaker 3: or you can't make her do that. But you steady
- 8:50Speaker 3: asking God for a new relationship. But you are yet
- 8:56Speaker 3: to be grateful. That you are in a position to
- 8:59Speaker 3: have a relationship, and you keep harping on the past.
- 9:02Speaker 3: You don't think you hear that. I'm just a dude
- 9:04Speaker 3: with a show and I hear it all the time.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Let it go, go forward. It's over.
- 9:10Speaker 3: You made it, He bought you through it, you conquered,
- 9:14Speaker 3: you survived it. Why are you dwelling on it and
- 9:18Speaker 3: making it the cross around your neck when clearly he
- 9:22Speaker 3: had removed it for you. Now, all you got to
- 9:25Speaker 3: do is come on. So if you sitting behind them walls,
- 9:28Speaker 3: brothers and sisters, I'm talking directly to you sometimes. Man,
- 9:32Speaker 3: you just got to get it right. All this repeat
- 9:35Speaker 3: of fender business, that's for?
- 9:36Speaker 1: Who is that for?
- 9:38Speaker 3: How ignorant can you be to keep giving your life
- 9:41Speaker 3: back to the penal system? Be free, man, walk the streets,
- 9:45Speaker 3: do the right thing. Ask God to help connect you.
- 9:48Speaker 3: He could do anything. You think he can't give you
- 9:50Speaker 3: a job? Are you serious? Man?
- 9:52Speaker 1: Put some faith on it. Let's move forward, y'all. Let
- 9:55Speaker 1: it go. Let's move you're listening to the Steve Harvey
- 9:58Speaker 1: Morning Show. Yeah,
