Transcript
- 0:00The following program is produced by the Tech Talk Radio Network. My problem is,
- 0:04I've got my pointer in the middle of the screen and I need to
- 0:08move it to the left, but my mouth is over on the left hand
- 0:12side of the pad, and if I go any further to the left,
- 0:16it's going to go off the pad. Anyway, if you could give me
- 0:18a call, I appreciate it. I'll wait till you until I hear from
- 0:22you. Welcome to another episode of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor,
- 0:28I'm Sean Duird, and I'm Slick. Good to see you all. A
- 0:32big tech week this week, Consumer Electronics Show Last Vegas it's going on.
- 0:39It's always a good time to see what comes out, and the articles are
- 0:41abundant. Oh my, I think there's been. It seems like there's been
- 0:45more coverage this year than we saw last year. I don't know. I
- 0:49don't know if I'm right about that, but it just seems like there's more
- 0:51stuff, more news coming out from some of the companies that have been showing
- 0:55off at see Yes this year there does anybody remember what they were showing last
- 0:58year? Nope. I think they finally recovered from COVID and just it's all
- 1:02in now. It's like everybody wants their tech. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:07I think now we're finally at that point where a lot of people were
- 1:10going to see us and really just going for the full all inexperience. Last
- 1:14year, if you remember, I think one of the big things last year
- 1:17was the flying car, which oh, yeah, you know, I don't
- 1:21know, is that really Is it something people really are going to be like
- 1:23into. I think yes, because it's going to be relatively affordable for the
- 1:33upper middle class. One hundred and fifty two hundred thousand dollars. You're gonna
- 1:37be able to buy one of these self flying drone card things, right,
- 1:41and they're they're what they've seen, what I've seen from online is they work
- 1:47really well and you could land on your own little helpad and fly into you
- 1:52know. But I mean, what regulations are going to come with that?
- 1:56Yeah, you're not gonna be able to get up fly into Manhattan, No,
- 2:00no, exactly. You're gonna have to follow the rules. You're probably
- 2:01gonna to get a pile's license, You're probably gonn have to do all this
- 2:04stuff. But it's gonna be there, and people are going to die just
- 2:08there's no, there's nothing. How did we make that turn? What it's
- 2:15it's a technology that it's if if it's just so readily available, it's gonna
- 2:21be cheap ish, right, Like, Yeah, you could go get your
- 2:23piles license and spend eighty or ninety grand on a Sessna, but then you
- 2:28have to learn how to fly the Sessa. This looks like you're just gonna
- 2:30be able to get in. It's gonna be like if you're flying a drone,
- 2:34right and it's people are gonna do dumb stuff with it. I kind
- 2:38of wonder too, if if you think about this, law enforcement is then
- 2:43going to have to have the same type of craft. I mean, we're
- 2:47gonna see chipsuns in the air, you know what I mean? U over
- 2:51the pal Oudam of twelve bloy and read take to the Skies. I mean,
- 2:57you're gonna this is going to be an issue now because then you're gonna
- 3:00have to have you know, you're gonna have to have a state, you'll
- 3:02have a local, you'll have a county all regulating that airspace and you know
- 3:07somebody's in it, because if you're on the ground and somebody is in a
- 3:10you know, a flying car. I don't know how speed is gonna be
- 3:15regulated in this thing. They're gonna be able to get away, it's all
- 3:17gonna be It's all gonna be regulated in the FAA, just how it is
- 3:21now. Oh boy, But how do you manage if somebody like does every
- 3:27like if I, if I get one, does my home now become a
- 3:30certified airspace that I can have a landing zone in? Now? Does that
- 3:34mean people around my apartment, around my home can't fly a drone within so
- 3:38many feet in my house because I have to have a designated landing zone?
- 3:42Right? Like? There's that's what people who are staying. It's not like
- 3:45this is just gonna happen and you're gonna be able to go buy a DRUP
- 3:47one of these car drone fly car flying car things and hop it in your
- 3:52backyard and take off. That's that's so unrealistic. It's gonna be so heavily
- 3:57regulated that you might as well just go get a regular plane. Well,
- 4:00or are a car. I have a hard time looking at cars that are
- 4:03forty five fifty thousand dollars now to buy a car. I mean, I
- 4:09grew up in the where we had a Vega. You know, in a
- 4:12Vegauld cost you twenty six hundred bucks to be That was like, that's what
- 4:15a car should be. But now you look at cars can be pretty pricey
- 4:19because they have so much technology in them. You know, I know that
- 4:24some of the cars, some of the technology we're seeing these cars. You
- 4:27know, it's it's like I mentioned last week when he spoke to Jessica,
- 4:30Jim Barry, the late Jim Barry had told us, you know, it's
- 4:32it's like you have this big tech show and an auto show breaks out because
- 4:36this is where we're seeing a lot of technology. You know, Mercedes Benz
- 4:42getting together with Will I Am because they want to have the best sound system
- 4:46inside their vehicles. You know, we're going to see other vehicles as well
- 4:50that are going to be on the market that are going to be different autonomous
- 4:54vehicles. You know, that's still a big thing. I'm really surprised that
- 4:59like old time players like ken Wood and companies like that get ignored when it
- 5:04comes to sound systems anymore. I mean, they spend a whole lot of
- 5:09time and resources, and I just it's kind of weird. Well, it's
- 5:12all about the exclusive market, right it's like GM, Ford, Chrysler,
- 5:17whoever. They're going to go with whatever they can get in there. Right.
- 5:21So, now there are trim packages that you can upgrade, like some
- 5:27have Bow's Rock with Fosgate types of things. Yeah, so you can buy
- 5:31your trim package and get those exclusive, more premiere packages. But we're back
- 5:38into the they don't want to get they don't want to keep building multiple models,
- 5:42so they're just going to put in whatever and maybe you can unlock higher
- 5:46quality sound fidelity because you could pay more. That's what's going to come down
- 5:51to. So can you get an AM radio in there? Yes, Well,
- 5:55we've talked about that. We've talked about that on the show, that
- 5:59the auto manufacturers have been discontinuing AM radios, but they got pushed back from
- 6:02the government basically saying in the event of a national emergency or an emergency,
- 6:06AM is going to be a saving grace for a lot of people, and
- 6:11if you don't have an AM radio in your car, people are gonna get
- 6:15stuck in traffic jams or in potentially in wilderness and not have the ability to
- 6:18know what's going on. It's not legal pushback, they're just giving them pressure
- 6:23to keep AM and radio in there. Correct, Yeah, yes, there's
- 6:26no legal precedent for them to continue to manufacture AM radio. You know.
- 6:30One of the things that it kind of scares me a little because you know,
- 6:32I'm in the radio industry, this is my job, and you know
- 6:35I've been doing it for thirty plus years. But I just I see a
- 6:40lot of people on social media sharing, you know, videos where their cars
- 6:44are going down the road and it's a song and that song, and I
- 6:46always look when it's playing, who's playing it. It's Pandora, or it's
- 6:50Spotify, or it's one of the streaming services in their vehicles because the vehicles
- 6:57are all tied now. I mean you can have I mean, my car's
- 6:59got a hard drive in it. I can put music on there and just
- 7:01listen to that, you know, or you could connect your phone up and
- 7:05be able to do that. I'm just I'm worried about radio because you know,
- 7:11radio is the one that you get the information, you get, the
- 7:12news, you get the you can you can talk to the DJ that's there
- 7:15at the station. You can't do that on a streaming service. I just
- 7:19wonder if is there hope. Yeah, I have a different theory about that,
- 7:24and we talked about it again. We love radio. That's if the
- 7:28reason, if not part of the reason, we got into it. I
- 7:31have noticed, to my sadness lately, not just lately, but well,
- 7:38I'm going to say within the past year, heavily in the past year,
- 7:42that you know, when I'm taking let's say an uber or a lyft or
- 7:46taxi, as you say, they're not listening to the local radio station,
- 7:50they aren't. They are not. They are not. And I believe it
- 7:56is my belief because my brethren in radio might peer. We have ignored our
- 8:01listeners. We have not sup super served them. When I gotten ready,
- 8:05we were super serving. You had I mean you every everything had to count,
- 8:07every second had to count. And now they're just all they'll listen because
- 8:13they're where they're gonna go. Well, they're gone. I think there were
- 8:16a lot of programmers like that, you know, and the ones that we're
- 8:18talking a big, big, huge programmers uh that made those decisions that that
- 8:24said, you know, uh, well it doesn't matter, you know,
- 8:26just just play that song because that song is researched and that song is doing
- 8:31number one. It's serving the listeners. What I love about this station is
- 8:33that they serve the local community with the interviews that they have, they kind
- 8:39of give a And there's other stations in the Chiosun market that do the same
- 8:41thing, you know, that that actually really do serve it. But I
- 8:45think, well, you know what I miss. I missed the ability to
- 8:48call a radio station and hear somebody calling that station, you know, hearing
- 8:54somebody who lives in that community, or the DJ given a weather check or
- 8:58a time check, you know. And I I just worry. We have
- 9:01so much technology around us now, and I don't know if the same thing
- 9:05is happening to television Sean, but we just kind of just figure, oh,
- 9:09everybody will be there anyways. Well it is, of course the same
- 9:13thing's happening in television. The problem is nobody wants to watch ads anymore.
- 9:18Yeah, yeah, So how did TV stations make money? I'm not so
- 9:22sure about that because I was in a I was in a car and maybe
- 9:26it's more n a and they did listen let the ads play. So I
- 9:31think this is this is from a programming standpoint back in the day, from
- 9:35you know, when I started there. I remember I worked at water radio
- 9:39station in particular, where the ads were. If it wasn't a good enough
- 9:43ad, it did not get on the air. We will where it's not
- 9:46the advertiser, it is that ad, that particular ad. We'll will will
- 9:52redo it ourselves, or we'll do it ourselves. But that bad ad that
- 9:54well could call somebody to tune away, will not go on our radio station.
- 9:58Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think you're right about television though,
- 10:03Sean. In that same respect, I tried to watch and this is not
- 10:07Some people might like this show. They said it was the most anticipated show
- 10:11in the new season on NBC, And I tried to watch this show Extended
- 10:16Family. Now. I like John Cryer, I like them from Two and
- 10:18a half Men Days is good in that, and I like the rest of
- 10:22the cast. But honestly, I couldn't get into it. And I'm thinking,
- 10:26what is it with network television shows, the laugh track and everything else.
- 10:31I just couldn't. It didn't grab me. But yet I could put
- 10:35on Peacock, which is the streaming service, and watch this doctor death series
- 10:39and at least it held my attention. And you know, there's still recovering
- 10:43from the writer's strike and the actors strike, so now they've been airing episodes
- 10:48of Doctor Death season two on NBC stations. So I don't know, you
- 10:52know, it just is it's a confusing time because I again, I like
- 10:56to think that radio and television is going to survive. And as this technology
- 11:01comes out, we see more channels, we see more content, we see
- 11:05a variety of stuff, but yet we still don't have a tech tech channel,
- 11:09which we need. Yees, yes, yes, yes, we need
- 11:16to bring that back. I talked to a guy I will just say this
- 11:20this week, and my ears lit up. He was a listener he called
- 11:22in. His last name was mon. If he's listening right now, thank
- 11:28you. I had to ask, are you related to Olivia? He said?
- 11:31He said kind of. Oh. It was like, oh oh,
- 11:35oh oh did he have a number? I was that was gonna be my
- 11:39next question. I thought that I'll wait until we build a rapport. You
- 11:45know, we're talking about cees and uh, you know, the big thing
- 11:46was a you know, watching all these news reports and stuff like that,
- 11:50and it's all been about a I A. I dominated A. Yeah.
- 11:58I don't know you guys have any comments on that because the thing that cut.
- 12:01But beyond that, what caught my attention was the the two bills,
- 12:05one in Tennessee and one in Congress about AI. What now, what are
- 12:11they? What do they referred to? Okay, so there's the Tennessee.
- 12:15Let's say, Uh, Tennessee has an Ensuring Likeness, Voice and Image Security
- 12:18Act. It's called the ilva's Act mm hmm. And it is to protect
- 12:26the rights of people uh and and their their likeness so in in essence and
- 12:35and it actually extends to radio somewhat, which is I really love So somebody,
- 12:39somebody can't take our voices and throw it into an AI system and then
- 12:45make money off of it, which is very easy to do. A lot
- 12:48of listeners may be listening to this and think, oh, no, that
- 12:50would take a lot of work. No, there is enough raw audio when
- 12:54you work for a station one of the last stations I worked for before I
- 12:58came back. All that audio it's still on my computer. It's all dry
- 13:03audio without music. But I was talking over music. That audio could all
- 13:09be taken put into a service and they could actually use AI to learn every
- 13:16inflection, every tone, and I could become a DJ for that station again,
- 13:20except without getting paid yep. And there's no protection. Uh, just
- 13:24just like news anchors. You know, they're gonna be using AI to recreate
- 13:28the news. I have seen it used and it's pretty amazing. Uh.
- 13:33I'm trying to remember that there's a company out there that's doing this with people
- 13:37there. You know, they licensed their their likeness to be used and they
- 13:43get paid a few bucks, but it's going to be used and perpetuity,
- 13:46you know, or or however the long contract will be to be creating these
- 13:50instructional videos. So you got to wonder, like what level of terms of
- 13:54service we're gonna have to read through now for ever ever app that uses your
- 14:01camera, every app that uses your microphone. Well, if you get a
- 14:05chance, check out this. This the bill in Congress, the billing Congress
- 14:07that they're thinking about putting through is the no Artificial Intelligence, Fake Replicas and
- 14:13Unauthorized Duplication, call it the AI Fraud Act of twenty twenty three. But
- 14:18it looks like I'm looking at a draft where they stroke it and it looks
- 14:20like it's going to do put twenty twenty forty end of it, and within
- 14:24it, it's not very long, but within it they're talking about you know,
- 14:28damages and compensation, like if somebody snatches. You know, our likeness,
- 14:35whether it be image or audio, we we own the rights to that
- 14:41and we could come back at them later legally, right, I get that,
- 14:45right, But every app is going to redo their terms of service,
- 14:50Snapchat whatever, all these apps that use your microphone and your camera, and
- 14:54they're going to bury it in there so that when you accept those terms of
- 14:58service, you're giving the the rights to all that have ever happened. Yeah,
- 15:01have you ever had a new service that that launches like TikTok uh Snamptat
- 15:05and some of these they'll launch it and you're just so excited to be able
- 15:09to be on this platform. There is a terms of service the TOS that
- 15:13usually comes up when you sign up for an account. Who reads it?
- 15:16Most people don't read them. They just go, I just want an account.
- 15:20Yeah. That's what's scary about this is that people like I said,
- 15:24this act will pass and then right, it'll trump the you lis and the
- 15:31term and the tos. Right, Okay, No, I can't imagine it
- 15:33would If you sign a terms of service that says you give us the rights
- 15:39to your image like this, all that stuff, you can't come back and
- 15:43then say, oh I didn't know. No, no, no, I'm
- 15:45not saying that I didn't know. I'm saying that this this legal bill law
- 15:50passed by Congress would force them to not be able to even put that one
- 15:54put it in those terms, and to enforce it. There's just no way.
- 15:58Yeah. Possibly, but it's just it's the world that we live in
- 16:02where people don't return the service and give up a ton of digital rights if
- 16:06you think about it. You know, for the kids that are thinking about
- 16:07what to take in school. Uh, online marketing, it's gonna be huge.
- 16:12That's gonna be another one still is now. But I mean I think
- 16:15we're going to a whole different area there. Uh cyber law, illegal law.
- 16:21You know. We we talked to that gentleman a few weeks ago that
- 16:22has a book out on law as it applies to a I. That's gonna
- 16:29be huge as well. And then of course, you know those air traffic
- 16:33controllers directing all the cars to go to the right place. You can't.
- 16:41It's there's a lot of planes in the sky already. Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 16:45We take a look at that picture from last week's show to go to
- 16:48ADSP Exchange and just look, it's just there's hundreds of thousands of flights empty,
- 16:52right, and just trying to add in the chaos of some rich CEO
- 16:57that wants to fly off as manhatt And high Rise and go to the Hampton's
- 17:03just wants. You're not gonna be able to do that because you're gonna you're
- 17:06gonna fly through so many restricted or class not classified, but classifications of airspace
- 17:11that you're gonna have to get. You're gonna have to be a pilot,
- 17:15or you're gonna have to have somebody that's gonna be able to ferry you in
- 17:17it or something. Right, So I just don't, I don't I get
- 17:19it. It's cool, it's flashy, it's the future we've all seen on
- 17:23TV and in the movies, but it's not a realistic one. The same
- 17:27thing with all these the same thing with all these stupid Amazon Amazon drawings,
- 17:33Youmazon drone deliveries and stuff. In what world does somebody like everybody's just gonna
- 17:44go out with a net or a sling shot and take the season out of
- 17:48the sky and get free packages. I just same thing with that. It's
- 17:53like, how do you regulate that? You don't It's the pie in the
- 17:59sky dream that everything is cool. And now we've gone from drones to AI
- 18:03anyways, so the drone race is over AI nowas yeah, and AI is
- 18:10going to control just about everything. So yeah, it's going to be very
- 18:14interesting how that plays out. All right. We do have a couple of
- 18:17listener questions and we invite you if you have a question, to drop us
- 18:21an email a tech guys at tech talk radio dot com. And it's cool
- 18:25because since we've started sharing some of these more and more people are feeling more
- 18:29comfortable about doing this. I've even had a phone call at the station during
- 18:32my afternoon show somebody wanting a question answered, and I said, just drop
- 18:36us an email, so bestly that way. I have it. First one
- 18:40from jail. This Jill's in Tucson. She said, I may have not
- 18:44thought this one through. My niece is going to be going to ASU,
- 18:48that's Arizona State University SEAN for business studies. And she told us she needed
- 18:53to get a computer. Thinking that, would you know, not be that
- 18:57much, I said I would get it for her. Turns out, according
- 19:02to her dad, she needs a top of the line MacBook. Now we
- 19:07we're looking at over twenty seven hundred dollars Now for what I thought was going
- 19:11to be a lot cheaper. Should I listen to her dad and get what
- 19:15we can afford, which is in the twelve hundred dollars region suggestions? What
- 19:21should I do in this case? Wow, she's going on, you can
- 19:25get you can get a dcent MacBook for a lot less than twenty zons box.
- 19:27Well, see, and that's the thing. There's if you've looked at
- 19:30MacBooks and well we got this question. I went looked. You know,
- 19:33you've got the M two you've got and then they have it broken by years.
- 19:38You have, oh to twenty twenty three, Model twenty twenty four,
- 19:41Model twenty twenty two model you know, how do you know which one is
- 19:45going to serve you the best? I mean, twenty seven hundred dollars is
- 19:51not out of the park for a MacBook. But honestly, can you even
- 19:56get a MacBook for around twelve hundred? Yes? Really, yes, yeah,
- 20:00you can get you know if you're even if you're looking at like the
- 20:02MacBook errors right, if you're just doing business it says business school, right,
- 20:06yeah, business studies, So you would think there's not a lot of
- 20:08graphics. She's not doing major video editing. She's not doing major photo editing.
- 20:17She's not going to be doing three D rendering, three D modeling,
- 20:19no Blender, none of that stuff, right, Right, twenty seven hundred
- 20:22bucks is ridiculous for a computer for business school. Do you think maybe Dad
- 20:26just wants to mach That's what I think. Maybe, But you can get
- 20:30you can go to Apple and price out and you might pay a little more
- 20:33than twelve hundred bucks. I would say probably closer to fifteen hundred for a
- 20:40decent M one or even maybe an M two MacBook Air. Right, So
- 20:45even some of the MacBook Pro the bottom, like the thirteen inches, right,
- 20:48you're gonna be able to find one that's got an M one, maybe
- 20:52an M two for that price with a five hundred or a five hundred terriby
- 20:57five hundred gigabyte hard drive, and you're gonna be fine. What is the
- 21:03difference for our listeners who don't know when they're they're building and we're talking now
- 21:07about a Mac. You know, you don't build a Mac. You buy
- 21:08a Mac. You can build a PC. You can't build a notebook.
- 21:11Really, I mean they've they've tried, but you can't. What's going to
- 21:15be the difference when they're looking at the say an M two versus an M
- 21:22one. Is that processing power? And I mean, are they going to
- 21:26notice it if they're just using text documents or you know, uh, spreadsheets
- 21:32and whatnot, I would say no, Yeah, you are you using a
- 21:36Mac at all, Nail Sean, Yes, So I use at work more
- 21:40specifically at work, but I do have some older Macs that I use here
- 21:42at home for editing and stuff. I do not have an M an M
- 21:47chip at home, oh okay, but I do have an M two chip
- 21:51in my work laptop. Right, go ahead. I went from the I
- 21:56seven I think tenth gen to the M two, and I saw a significant
- 22:03increase and I saw a huge performance increase from working on my older laptop with
- 22:07the I seven on Final Cut, Light Room, Premiere, rendering and exporting
- 22:14stuff I saw visually and just from a feel and time wise, saw an
- 22:18increase in performance. I've had a confession. I wanted to make you guys,
- 22:22but and this is probably not the show to get into it because I
- 22:26want to really go off. But hold on, my father son, I'm
- 22:29ready, all right, here we go, Okay, I am in the
- 22:32macworld. Now really yes, wow, yeah, welcome. Yeah, well
- 22:38I'm not real happy. Like I said, we probably don't have time this
- 22:41entire show. We just say everything I want to say about the comparison.
- 22:45So you got a fruity Mac, Windows, Mac, and Lennox. So
- 22:48I have I have a MacBook Pro sixteen okay? Uh I nine processor?
- 22:56Wait does that mean twenty sixteen? No, sixteen inch? Okay? You
- 23:03know what. To be honest with you, I could. I'm just trying
- 23:04to pull up the specs. I thought I had to pure my specs somewhere,
- 23:07but I don't. I couldn't tell you what year it is, all
- 23:08right, but it's a Mactook Pro sixteen inch screen and it has the I
- 23:12nine processor and ninety six gigabytes of RAM? Does it? Does it use
- 23:18all of that? Do you remember that? Choking it? I'm choking it.
- 23:22And this was reminded. This reminds me of when you and I and
- 23:26used to get those gaming machines from Alienware Alienware desktop, and they would at
- 23:33the time it had the twelve gigs of RAM and the dual hard drives,
- 23:36and I crashed it. Yeah, there was there was Windows. There were
- 23:40Windows limitations too, and how much how much memory you really could benefit from?
- 23:44You know? But wow, will will Apple use all of that?
- 23:48Slick? I mean, if you have ninety six gigbytes of memory, if
- 23:53you're doing something crazy intensive like doing massive high resolution three D rendering, absolutely
- 23:59it'll not even know. I no multimedia. I have way too many browsers
- 24:03open, with tabs open, with windows open, with apps running in the
- 24:07background. I thought a mac could handle it. Yeah, well let me
- 24:11put it to a Sorry, I'll take this back. I thought the MacBook
- 24:15I purchased could handle it, and I was wrong. Wow, all right,
- 24:19So so how what are you going to do to get more performance out
- 24:23of it? Well, the reason I went ahead and and got this one
- 24:26is because of the I nine processor, because I'm looking forward to putting Linux
- 24:32on it one day. Can you do? Did you put Linux? And
- 24:34it's an until processor? Okay? All right, yeah you they You can
- 24:38do hackin Tasha's or you can get Linux kernels that will run on the older
- 24:45Unix kernel that Max ran on. So yes, you can run Linux if
- 24:48you're tex savvy enough. All right, we gotta we gotta take quick break.
- 24:53We got another question. Also, it's a big week in history and
- 24:56Slick. You can answer a question for us about that with more of tech
- 25:00talk radio. I'm Aye Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird Dan, I am
- 25:03Slick tech talk Radio dot com. Now back to tech talk radio. But
- 25:08I don't want to buy just the absolute primo system out today that usually wastes
- 25:12money. So I'll be doing some digital photography, maybe some video editing.
- 25:17Don't do any gaming at all, so I don't have that demand on the
- 25:19computer. It's wondering what you guys would suggest, either in brands or just
- 25:22in general speed and where do you go to get the maximum bang to the
- 25:26buck right now? Sounds like you want to Mac turning the break. I
- 25:33went to Apple dot com and I built a macwik air. Oh cool with
- 25:37the one with the M one chip. All right, So the M one
- 25:40Apple dot com and you can go in right there and click at build it.
- 25:41It's really easy, all right, with the Apple M one chip,
- 25:45which is their first processor they built one day after they left Intel, with
- 25:51eight gigabytes of RAM, which is a good amount of RAM for somebody that's
- 25:55not going to be doing a toll lot of intensive stuff. And I even
- 25:56bumped up to the five hundred and twelve gigs of storage, and that puts
- 26:00us right at twelve hundred bucks. Well, that's not bad. That's exactly
- 26:03what her budget was. So that if they wanted to increase their budget a
- 26:07little bit, they could add more ram, more storage, or even bump
- 26:12it up to the M two chip if they wanted to, for closer to
- 26:15fifteen hundred bucks, so they don't have to spend the twenty seven hundred bucks
- 26:19on a laptop. Now, MacBook Air versus mac Book, what is going
- 26:25to be the big difference there? Size, the form factor. It's thinner,
- 26:30it's got the two thunderbolt uspfore ports, it's got the USBC power charger,
- 26:37so it's all USBC adapters. So you'd have to buy a dongle if
- 26:41you want to go to USBA. But that's just the way Max are.
- 26:42You're going to do that with any Mac, but any Mac or Mac product
- 26:45you buy, except for the desktops. But it's slim, it's thirteen inches,
- 26:52it's tiny. If you go to Apple, go to best Buy and
- 26:56get your hands on one, right, see if you like the size,
- 26:59right, because not everybody a small laptop like that. But if you're going
- 27:02to pisiness school. If you want to be portable, you want to take
- 27:03it to your lectures, you want to do homework while you're sitting at home
- 27:07in your bed or on your couch. Right, this is going to be
- 27:10a great little laptop for you. Yeah, I'm older. If you guys
- 27:12remember when it came up with the MacBook are fifteen, Remember I wanted one
- 27:15of those. Oh yeah, that's right, yep, because because they're so
- 27:18thin. Yeah right, it's they're they're super thin, they're super lightweight,
- 27:22they hold the battery charge forever. Anybody that I've talked to that has a
- 27:26MacBook Air has loved it. And Caitlin has a MacBook to one of the
- 27:30first original MacBook Airs back from twenty fourteen, that I just replaced the battery
- 27:36in and I had that's about our blog. I did no time laps video
- 27:38of that replaced the battery in that. That's right. I remember that it's
- 27:42brought another life of you know, raised more life into that for her and
- 27:45she still uses it around the house. You know. The It's funny because
- 27:49when you're thinking about the MacBook Air and how thin it is, you know,
- 27:55recently, Ace who's had sent us over there there thirteen s and that
- 28:00we took a look at. Man, it was amazingly thin. I couldn't
- 28:04believe it. And a lot of people said, well, this is just
- 28:07like the MacBook Air. Of course it's the PC. It is an Asius
- 28:11they just introduced at ce S. They're fourteen inch oled which I'm looking forward
- 28:17to. Hopefully you get a chance to check out and kind of let you
- 28:19know what they think about it. But they're they're on that right track.
- 28:22I think people are wanting thinner. You know, Lenovo introduced one that is
- 28:26a laptop that converts into a tablet, and there people are saying it's you
- 28:33know, it's an Android tablet at a Windows laptop and people are loving it
- 28:37because it's two and one that that is something I'm want to I want to
- 28:41get more in phone that was shown at CS. You might be able to
- 28:42look up Lenovo and you'd be able to see see that. All right.
- 28:45We got a question in speaking of Lenovo from carl In Sabota. This one
- 28:51says, for the holidays, I bought myself a new laptop, a PC
- 28:53from Lenovo's. The problem is it didn't come with a CD DVD drive and
- 29:00I have archives on discs and haven't put them in the cloud. My old
- 29:04computer works, but it's slow, I mean slow, and you have beside
- 29:11it with a bunch of o's. He said, what are my options?
- 29:14Do I have any? All? Right? For Carl and Celwadita, what
- 29:17can he do? He's got all these CDs, all this, you know,
- 29:21physical media. It's not in the cloud. But he gets his new
- 29:25laptop and he didn't realize it doesn't come with a drive. Does his new
- 29:29computer have USBC? Probably would if it's a new buy an external DVD,
- 29:36DVD Blu ray burner. And they're not that expensive, right, like thirty
- 29:38bucks thirty to forty dollars on a quick Amazon search. So just go look
- 29:44and redo a little bit of research. It's going to be way faster than
- 29:47your old machine. Because I'm assuming he's got if he if he's talking about
- 29:51his old machine and it's slow, it's probably like an eight X write read
- 29:55or something, right, it's probably a six sixteen read rite, right,
- 29:59So, but you can get hortible CDDVD, blu ray right and burn for
- 30:06relatively inexpensive. I think that would be my solution. I think I've seen
- 30:08those in Target too that they have those. You probably still some out there
- 30:12where they use the USBA which is the bigger plug as well. So yeah,
- 30:17yeah, you're still USB three right, But it's just saying they make
- 30:19them USB three or USBC USB three at speeds. And then I'm going to
- 30:25pitch the Mac side. Right. If you have a Mac and you need
- 30:27a DVD burner, go buy the super Drive. It's not Blu ray app
- 30:32will never support a Blu ray in any of their products. Wow, But
- 30:36the super Drive will do read write for DVD's multi layer. I just did
- 30:40a project where I burned some DVDs. It was crazy. We can talk
- 30:42about that later, but it burned. I burned a DVD for a project.
- 30:45I probably haven't burned a DVD in over a decade. Oh yeah,
- 30:48it's been a while, right, because we just throw stuff into the cloud.
- 30:51But he never got it this, kay, Carl never got a chance
- 30:53to do that. Now he's he wants to be able to look at these
- 30:56disks, so yeah, external is going to be the best way for him
- 30:59to go. So it gonna be the easiest, it's gonna be the most
- 31:02efficient. Rather than trying to resurrect an old machine and pop it into likely
- 31:07was a very slow would you recommend? And I kind of wonder if this
- 31:11so somebody has this and then they get this, would you recommend them putting
- 31:17it into the cloud at that point? You know, yeah, like he's
- 31:21got and he's got these photos, go ahead and throw them in the cloud.
- 31:25Well I won't go with one hundred percent. Now ahead, go ahead,
- 31:27Well I'm saying one hundred percent of the idea of putting them in the
- 31:30cloud. Right, don't don't. Don't get rid of the physical media,
- 31:33obviously, but my solution I did my whole family archive right right, tvds,
- 31:40VHS photos. Right. I still have all the physical media. It
- 31:45exists on a hard drive here in my house, and it exists in the
- 31:48cloud. That's the way I do it. So if a relative ever says
- 31:52to you, oh, I need to find that picture from you know,
- 31:56nineteen seventy four at Disneyland, no problem, you know where to find.
- 32:00It exists in my Google Drive and Google Photos. I have a specific account
- 32:04that I made for my family called the de Weird Archive that they could just
- 32:08log in. I provided my family with the user and password and they can
- 32:12go in and search to their hearts content. It's tagged filtered. I've got
- 32:15most things have names, and I went through geotech stuff. I went crazy
- 32:21during COVID on the start. That was a big project. Now, slick,
- 32:23why would you be kind of a little leery about putting stuff with the
- 32:28cloud. This is only because this is for my poor, broken, cheap
- 32:30people. Okay, where are you? Raise your hands? Show me your
- 32:35empty wallets. I'm raising mind. If you know, if you're not willing
- 32:42to continually pay for storage for service, I mean Google Drive, one Drive
- 32:49from Microsoft, even iCloud from Apple. Okay, then you need to look
- 32:53around to find out who gives you the most free storage available. One of
- 32:59them, which I'm not recommending, I'm just saying, just for conversation,
- 33:04the largest one I know of at the moment is just a company called Mega
- 33:07Mega Mega. They're out of New Zealand and huh, I've really I've never
- 33:12heard of them. I've been using them for a long time. I'm trying
- 33:16to remember. I want to say this is probably wrong, everyone, so
- 33:21please you know if I'm wrong and wrong. The first the name that comes
- 33:23to mind is Kim dot Com and it is probably not him, but a
- 33:28guy that reminds me of kin dot com started. This service started out of
- 33:31fifty gigs free, and I've just kept my account. I think they cut
- 33:35it down now to twenty five gigs free. Even twenty five gigs is pretty
- 33:38good. Well, now we Google, you get how much five? I
- 33:42think they starts you out with fifteen I think for free, all right,
- 33:46But being deep in the Google verse, Google universe, using a lot of
- 33:50Chromebooks and Google services and stuff. Every year, once a year, I
- 33:55pay the twenty let's say, twenty five bucks, okay, for the they
- 34:00now call it Google one, Yeah, the Google one plan, right,
- 34:05and that gives me one hundred gigabytes of free storage for the year and that.
- 34:09But you know that includes they take everything into consideration your Gmail account,
- 34:15your Google Photos account, and your Google Drive account, which is not bad.
- 34:19I'm just saying before they had broke, they had it broken out.
- 34:22Now it's all inclusive, right right. I have noticed it's very easy to
- 34:27fill a Google Drive account. I don't know about you guys, but when
- 34:30you put filled fifteen gigs is the start fifteen Google account. Fifteen gigs fifteen
- 34:36pretty good? I pay for the two terabyte plan. It's I think it's
- 34:39like two hundred dollars a year. I still become a member of your family.
- 34:45Yeah, all, I add your email to my list. Now,
- 34:47So do you share this with the family, and they'll y sh shared with
- 34:52my family. They can put they you know, like all my photos on
- 34:54my phone are back on to my Google drive, Kaitlin's photos, my mom's
- 34:58photos, my dad's photos, pretty much any of my anybody that wants to
- 35:00back up their photos, they can just use their Gmail account and it uploads
- 35:06it to their Gmail. But their Gmail storage is tied to mine. Right,
- 35:09It's not like you can't go in and see what they have. No,
- 35:13no, no, no no. But I can see that my brother's
- 35:15using the x amount. I would have to look. But my brother's using
- 35:17xmout storage. My mom's using x amount. But I'm big on archiving photos
- 35:22and digital family folks, family stuff. Yes, so I paid for it.
- 35:28It said, this is my treat to the family, Like just I
- 35:30want to save all of this stuff. I want to be able to archive
- 35:32this so that Max can see it and other children and my family can see
- 35:37it, my cousins, my nephews, all this stuff. So and it's
- 35:40been widely popular because my family will come to me and say, oh,
- 35:44it's Christmas time. Do you have any pictures of Nana when she was you
- 35:46know, back in the day. Yeah, sure, just go on and
- 35:49find it. You just search for them. Here's it's been a it's been
- 35:51a great personal pleasure for me to do that and then have my family come
- 35:55to me and say, thank you for putting this up there, thanks for
- 35:58letting me see it. It's you know, it's it's been great. But
- 36:00here's something right, you were right, Kim dot com was the megaphone?
- 36:04All right, cool? Now what is that again? Kim or ken?
- 36:07Kim dot com? Kim dot com? All right, cool, all right,
- 36:10Now here's something though. We talked about Sean uh and it's like,
- 36:15I don't know if you've seen the movie Leave the World Behind yet with Julia
- 36:20Roberts Mahashala Ali. Yeah, it's it's it opens up a lot of questions,
- 36:27and there were a lot of questions at the end of this movie,
- 36:29which is kind of bleak and Uh. The problem is nobody has access because
- 36:35something is going on. There's been a hack that's going on. Nobody has
- 36:37access to uh, the television, radio computers, they're smart devices, only
- 36:45what's locally on their smart devices? And it brings the question up. There
- 36:50was a story recently about best By eliminating their physical media, So you're not
- 36:54gonna be able to buy in the UK in the UK, oh you okay?
- 36:59But thing about it. If we eliminate physical media, if anything like
- 37:02this happened, solar flare takes out you know, television broadcast, the whole
- 37:08bit. How will we entertain ourselves if everything is in the cloud and we
- 37:14don't have any local media. Oh yeah, let me be out in real
- 37:17quick, everybody. Before we even started the show, Sean de Weir was
- 37:21talking about D and D. Hold on, I'm going a wrong constitution.
- 37:25Say I got my dice here. I literally came from a D and D
- 37:30session right into the show. So some people have told me, like,
- 37:32uh, you know, we've been using plex where we'll take our own media
- 37:37and I'll go ahead and encode it and put it and save it so if
- 37:39I ever want to watch it easily, I can. Some people have told
- 37:44me that they've done the same thing, but then they get rid of their
- 37:45their media. They take it to you know, a place where they can
- 37:50sell it. They donated selling. But number one, it makes it cheaper
- 37:55for me to go buy it. Yeah, exactly, And I don't know
- 37:58the legalities also the involved You know, you've already you own it, you
- 38:02digitize it, you probably should have a physical copy, I'll bet you.
- 38:07I'm thinking though, I think it's important to still have that physical copy.
- 38:12You know. It was the time. Yeah, remember there was a time
- 38:15when the optical disc had a life expectancy of ten years, right, yeah?
- 38:21Is it? Are we still about there about that? I would say
- 38:23early CDs, early DVDs from maybe the late nineties early two thousands may have
- 38:30had some degradation, like if you use it a bunch, right, Yeah,
- 38:32the data is not permanent on these discs. That that's something that people
- 38:37didn't really understand. DVDs and optical media are not prime long term storage solutions,
- 38:43right right, They have it self life. So we are in a
- 38:47situation where in thirty forty years you might go to play a DVD and it
- 38:52just might be not play because the data has eroded enough that it can't be
- 38:57read. So what are your options? Right, you digitize it, or
- 39:02you buy it a newer version that has a more guaranteed shelf life of many
- 39:07more years based on the technology. Yeah, it's interesting on the things I
- 39:10did, But I buy physical beating and I still to this day. I
- 39:14still love dv I still love CDs, DVDs, dvda's Blu ray disc.
- 39:22The copy when I buy a copy, it also comes with a digital copy.
- 39:24I hunt, I search for those. I have a hard time buying
- 39:29any Blu ray disc or DVD disc that does not include a digital copy.
- 39:34You shot the bin at Walmart. If I do, I'll flip through it
- 39:37real quick looking for you know, uh, smoking the bandit stuff like that,
- 39:42right. I love the fact that now with services like two B and
- 39:45I know if it's getting off track two B and FREEB, you can now
- 39:50watch movies you can never buy on DVD or CD or whatever, and now
- 39:53you can watch them for free. And if you're sharp and you're running,
- 39:58maybe you know the U the software for capturing, you can capture it then
- 40:02burn it to DVD yourself. Again. I don't know if the legalities on
- 40:07that we talked about, like keeping physical media right right, But now you're
- 40:14running into issues where you have Amazon Prime, You've got Prime Video, and
- 40:17you come across the video that says buy for four ninety nine. Yeah,
- 40:22no, I bought it. I own it until they take it away and
- 40:25say, yeah, we took it away, Well, I paid four night
- 40:29for it. I bought it. Well, you bought a perpetual you bought
- 40:30a license for it, not a perpetual license that says you can watch it
- 40:35whenever you want, on or offline. So a lot of people are getting
- 40:38frustrated that they're saying, well, what did I pay the four ninety nine
- 40:42for. I've heard that before too, on top of my whatever I'm paying
- 40:47for Prime. Wow, And now you're even getting it to where Prime is
- 40:53gonna say, well, we're gonna serve ads in front of your videos now
- 40:57unless you pay us an additional two ninety nine on top of your I'm subscription
- 41:00right, how much money they did last year, It just doesn't it doesn't
- 41:06make sense like they're they're frustrating their user base and these these these you're seeing
- 41:12a lot of people going back to sailing the high seas. Yeah, they're
- 41:15throwing that black skull and cross bones up and saying, you know what,
- 41:20I'm just going to a lot of people are canceling their subscriptions to most of
- 41:23their services and resorting to piracy and it because they're so frustrated that these billion
- 41:31dollar companies are nickeling diming us for content that we just want to watch.
- 41:37Yeah, yeah, we don't own it because of all the licensing and d
- 41:40m c A and all this stuff. Right, So I've said this before
- 41:45the show, but I feel like we're either going to have a digital revolution
- 41:50where people are going to get so frustrated with all of the digital that people
- 41:53are gonna want physical media again. Exactly exactly. That's then, That's what
- 41:59I thought of when I all that movie Leave the World Behind, which is
- 42:01available on Netflix. Streams that or is it Amazon? It's it's on Netflix.
- 42:07It's Netflix, all right, But all it's gonna take is a major
- 42:10Internet outage for three four, five days or you know, uh, you
- 42:15know, or if you're in an area that's impacted by a natural disaster,
- 42:19you're stuck without power or internet for a week. Right, what are you
- 42:22going to like people that don't have physical media, what are they gonna do?
- 42:30And what happens when the internet goes out? Exactly? Everybody goes to
- 42:34stream on their phones or their iPads. And now now we're just clogging up
- 42:38the five G pipe with people trying to you know, stream Thomas the Train
- 42:45for their kids or whatever. So's physical media, man, it's you gotta
- 42:50you gotta get it. And I know a lot of people in my age,
- 42:53maybe even a little younger, aren't used to having physical media. They're
- 42:58not used to it. They don't own a d player or a Blu ray
- 43:00player, right, and they're even buying consoles, video game consoles that don't
- 43:05have them in it. So you're they're really constricting you and forcing you to
- 43:08do digital only, and that's frustrating as hell to me. We will teach
- 43:13them how to make fire, and we will be back after we take a
- 43:15quick break here on tech talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de
- 43:19Weird, and I'm Slick tech talk Radio on the X, on the threads,
- 43:22on the Facebook and the Instagram and all the YouTube's at tech talk Radio
- 43:28and now back to tech talk Radio. Right. This week kind of a
- 43:31big week. Not only you got to see es going on, but in
- 43:35history back in two thousand, Slick, I know you can add some to
- 43:38this. America Online agreed to buy Time Warner for one hundred and sixty five
- 43:45billion dollars, and some have speculated that it was one of the worst decisions
- 43:51in corporate history, AOL buying Time Warner Slick, You worked for AOL?
- 43:57What was that? Like? I did? And I left just for Steve
- 44:00bought everybody a letterman's jacket, so I didn't get one of them. They
- 44:05were nice to. Now, was there was the entire operation here in Tucson
- 44:09or was it just a call center? No? One of the call centers
- 44:14was here in Tucson. And and one of the major call centers was here
- 44:16in Tucson, right, a tech support centers, I should say, what
- 44:21was that like? Being somebody that would answer calls from people? I mean,
- 44:23what were some of the biggest questions you would get? It was?
- 44:27I mean to be first, let me just say it was. It's always
- 44:30been fun working for tech companies like AOL and Microsoft. It's just my people.
- 44:35And bumped into a guy to day used to work in Microsoft. Some
- 44:39of the let me just tell you one of the strangest calls I remember,
- 44:44and and this is just support called from any industry. You know, A
- 44:49guy calls sir, I can't get on AOL. Well, it's the problem,
- 44:52sir, well, I don't know how okay. And then as you
- 44:55get deeper into the call, you go, well, what kind of computer
- 44:59is this? Is del okay? And and what model is it? Like,
- 45:02Oh, okay, that's great. Put the disc in the computer.
- 45:07Well I can't, why not, sir, because it's still in the box.
- 45:10To take the CD out of the box, sir, to go ahead
- 45:13and open up the no, no, exactly, Andy is about to follow
- 45:16it. Oh my gods. Oh yeah, yep, yep, yep,
- 45:21that's one of those great Are you telling me that the computer is still in
- 45:24the box. Yeah. Oh, but he wanted to get on AOL right
- 45:30away right away. Oh boy, Sean, you were you were talking about
- 45:34something that you had seen and you had sent me a photo of it regarding
- 45:37AOL as well, you know, taking a look back twenty four years ago
- 45:40this week, and it's hard to believe they actually made this. Yeah,
- 45:44it's a AOL branded uh CD cleaning kit. So you can got you got
- 45:50the you got the spray, the little little diamond pad, a little scrubber,
- 45:55oh like the mister disc or whatever pad. You know, they had
- 46:00them at family, you know, the the family all the Okay, now
- 46:06I understand you know the you know, the little polisher that you can take
- 46:07to it, so you know, if you scratch the disc you can get
- 46:10life back out of it. Yes, it's al branded sealed in the box.
- 46:15Yeah, one of my old mentors from high school had it in his
- 46:17collection of stuff. We'll put a photo of that up on our blog blog
- 46:21dot tech talk Radio dot com. Looking back at this week though, for
- 46:24CS you wanted to kind of cover what is some of the coolest things that
- 46:29we saw this year at cees that that were you know, in the media.
- 46:32One of them though I hadn't even I hadn't even heard about it.
- 46:35I'm hearing it from you and I'm thinking, this is pretty amazing. Transparent
- 46:38TVs. Okay, how does this work? Yeah, last year we saw
- 46:45a transparent olity concept from l G. Now you're seeing them and Tom's Guide
- 46:51dot com has a great write up on some of these. That's we're kind
- 46:53of one of my go to hardware blogs. Yeah, they're good. They
- 46:58have these really cool you can see you can put your hand behind it and
- 47:00see through it. Oh, and you can make it look like a fish
- 47:05tank. It's it's you have to go to just check it out. But
- 47:07it's called the LG signature, oh led t all right, and it just
- 47:14looks cool. I can't. You have to kind of see it to understand
- 47:16it. Yeah, so just go to the CEES web page check them out.
- 47:21But it's LG and it just looks cool. It's going to be more
- 47:27of a like show piece, I think then, but it's still gonna be
- 47:30a TV. What happens now when you turn it off? Though, it
- 47:34just disappears like I mean, basically you don't notice it at all. Yeah,
- 47:37it's just kind of like, maybe it looks like a little bit of
- 47:40a darkness. But they have different transparencies apparently, some that look a little
- 47:45bit darker, but it just changes based on the model you get. But
- 47:50it basically said, you're not gonna work, probably gonna want to play video
- 47:52games on it, but it's most likely going to be kind of like a
- 47:57ambiance piece in your house, not necessarily a TV you're gonna to watch.
- 48:00That's not the one that jumped out to me though, Wait what TV?
- 48:04I thought you were thinking? Think about this other one that I saw,
- 48:06all right with? What is the one you liked? Okay, guys,
- 48:08everybody, everybody Okay, go to CC dot com. So it's the letter
- 48:13C and then the word seed s e e d dot com C s e
- 48:19e d dot com. All right, I'm doing it. There. The
- 48:22world's first unfolding indoor TV, the sculptural screen. Wow, Oh my gosh,
- 48:32that's crazy. The world's first unfolding micro l e ed t V.
- 48:37Oh my, so if you have one, Scott come, it's coming out
- 48:39of a pool. Yeah. If you have it outdoors, it could come
- 48:42out of the ground and then you have a oh my, how much is
- 48:45this they gonna go for? Alright, don't don't remember. Oh wow,
- 48:51I'm looking at their website right now. This is crazy. Yeah. That
- 48:53is way cooler than the transparent TV. I don't think you can install this
- 48:57yourself though, No, I don't think so. Wow. And guy,
- 49:02I feel so weak because mine. The product that I thought I really want
- 49:07is Clicks. Have you guys heard about Clicks Love it? Yeah, it's
- 49:12an iPhone keyboard case that will work with you know, your iPhone fourteen Pro
- 49:19or iPhone fifteen Pro or iPhone regular fifteen. They have three options, two
- 49:24usbc's, one with a lightning connector, and they're sold from one hundred and
- 49:29thirty nine bucks if you go to Clicks that Tech. But what it is
- 49:32you put your smartphone inside this case and it's like yo BlackBerry. You've got
- 49:38the little keyboard down to the bottom so you don't have to you know,
- 49:43touch the screen. You know how many times when I'm sending a note and
- 49:45I'll accidentally hit the return and send half a note. It's just so frustrating.
- 49:51Well, this you could do it all with that keyboard, and I
- 49:52don't know, I hope it catches on. I don't know if it's you
- 49:55know, worthy enough for one hundred and thirty nine bucks, will people do
- 49:59it? But Clicks that Tech is one that you can you can check out
- 50:02there, so it is also they did also just launch today or closer today
- 50:07is the history of the launch of the iPhone. That's right, Yes,
- 50:12yeah, I watched the keynote, the original keynote earlier today and Andy,
- 50:15they legitimately in that you just talked about re adding to keep a physical keyboard
- 50:20to your iPhone. Right in that in that keynote they literally said we are
- 50:24getting away from the thing. They literally just like deleted the bottom of like
- 50:28the Blackberries and everything is we're getting rid of this. So here you are
- 50:30twenty something years later almost saying I want to read add this physical keyboard,
- 50:35when they're like in two thousand and seven, we're like, now this is
- 50:38out. It's funny how that works. It's funny because it's like I just
- 50:43watched that Redwatch that keynote today because it's it's such a good keynote about the
- 50:46history of iPhone and yep, it was how hype people were for that this
- 50:50week in two thousand and seven is when when that happened? Was that Macworld?
- 50:53You know, and and you know Apple doesn't. Apple doesn't generally go
- 50:58to see I mean, they're they're at ces. They've product have products that
- 51:00are at cs from manufacturers, but Macworld is there big. That's always been
- 51:05their big one. But I'll tell you something I bought this week, and
- 51:08there's a video up on our website at tech talk radio dot com. I
- 51:13bought the Xbox Toaster. It's the Xbox series S officially license of you floating
- 51:20around with an Xbox and something popping out of it. I was like,
- 51:23oh wait, and he'll he'll tell me what you know. It's really sad.
- 51:25I don't even have an Xbox. I've got the Xbox one, the
- 51:30old one. It heats bagels, it defrosts bread if you put bread in
- 51:36the fridge, and it can make a slice of toast and we'll put the
- 51:39Xbox logo on that slice of toast. So you have this and the fridge
- 51:43now right. I don't have the fridge. I ordered the fridge, and
- 51:45I basically I was scammed a little because this fridge was tiny. And the
- 51:51actual Xbox fridge that you can get in retail, I know, Target tells
- 51:54them when you can find them, they're pretty big. And the one I
- 51:59got, I paid one hundred thredy nine dollars for it. It turns out,
- 52:00no, it was a it was a scam, so I got my
- 52:02money back on that one. So all I have now is the toaster.
- 52:06But thirty nine bucks, that's not a bad deal. Are you an Xbox
- 52:09fan boy? No, I'm not. I'm like I tell you, all
- 52:12I got is an Xbox One. I just thought this is a cool thing,
- 52:15so I got it. All right, we take another quick break.
- 52:20We'll be back with more of Tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm
- 52:22shan to Weird, and I'm slick wondering if he's gonna get a PlayStation thing
- 52:27and something shirt jacket, car or something. Eh, PlayStation schwag. I
- 52:30like that. That'll be next. Be sure to check out our YouTube page
- 52:34at tech talk Radio. We'll be right back and now back to tech talk
- 52:37Radio. All right, one of the things that we had fun with last
- 52:40week, we're bringing back just me and Sean this week. Sixty second tech
- 52:45Sean, go ahead, We're gonna just spew a bunch of stuff at you.
- 52:47Ready, all right? If you use twenty three and meters, it's
- 52:51your fault. Your data got breached. That's what they said. If you
- 52:54got a right aid and you feel like you got unfairly treated or something happened
- 52:59where you got charged, they were using AI to track you and using that
- 53:02data against you as a customer. NTC says, you're out, no more
- 53:07AI for you. Microsoft is adding a new button to the keyboard for the
- 53:10first time in I don't even know how long prices before I was alive.
- 53:15It's the dedicated co pilot key which you talked about last week. I didn't
- 53:17even they didn't even know what it was. So yay. The Alaska Airlines
- 53:22flight that had the door blow off this flight at sixteen thousand feet. They
- 53:25found two phones from that flight in the in the debris field right that.
- 53:30We're still working, so find out what case they had. Because the the
- 53:34NTSB is being tight lipped on that, they won't tell you what case it
- 53:37is. The RTX forty super Series has launched, so if you're looking for
- 53:42a CPU a GPU upgrade, maybe look into the super Series for the four
- 53:45thousands. You're done? Okay, you ready for find? Here we go.
- 53:52I got mined? Did you get yours? You know, I've always
- 53:54thought maybe it was a bit of a scam. When you get that thing
- 53:57in the mail that says, hey, would you like to participate in a
- 54:00class action lawsuit because there's a class action lawsuit going around, and turns out
- 54:05you owned one of these products. Well, this product was an iPhone.
- 54:08And now I remember when I got my iPhone and it started slowing down.
- 54:15Well, turns out it was enough to get people upset and file this lawsuit,
- 54:19which they called battery Gate. The other day, I logged in my
- 54:22bank account and I saw an extra ninety two dollars in my bank account,
- 54:25wondering what the heck is that from I mean we're talking years ago. I
- 54:30had filled out this form. Well, Apple is pip paid iPhone. Yeah,
- 54:35Apple is paying users now in this settlement of battery gate after the company
- 54:38they say slowed iPhones roughly seven years ago, because well it was time to
- 54:45upgrade your phone, and why not do it when your phone is running really
- 54:47slow? And that is my sixty second tech are you doing? Time to
- 54:52tell you that I picked up a couple of checks. I got Welcome Yonder
- 54:54to working Prince Court. Actually, I got a couple Facebook Holliday wait talk.
- 55:00I had like how many twenty different Gahoo accounts? What was the deal
- 55:04with Yahoo? Oh? I don't remember what it was. Maybe using user
- 55:08data and not telling them about it, you know. And I think the
- 55:12average of each check was about one hundred bucks. Not bad, very nice.
- 55:15All right, Well, we had a lot of stuff to talk about.
- 55:17We're gonna talk more about cees next week, but some of the cool
- 55:21products that we've seen as well when we continue in the meantime, have yourselves
- 55:24a great week. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm
- 55:29Slick tech talkRADIO dot com. Have a great week.
