- 0:00What's going on, folks? And welcome to the Legendary Podcast.
- 0:04My name is David, and I'm the legendary host of this legendary podcast,
- 0:09the Deconstructing Topic Podcast, where we talk about a little bit or we deconstruct topics.
- 0:15But first and foremost, or the most important thing is that when you listen
- 0:19to my podcast, you're going to go out there and, damn it, you're going to go and change the world.
- 0:25And starting to change the world will be not you, but being part of. And it starts with you.
- 0:31Because when you listen to my podcast, it's saving a mind. It's like saving a life.
- 0:37Woo, let's get it. We got a good one. Once again, I appreciate it.
- 0:41We got a lot of information on my description. Hit the like.
- 0:46Comment, share, all that good stuff.
- 0:49Ooh, my goodness. Because you know what? We got a little emotional podcast.
- 0:54If you're listening to my podcast, and I'm pretty sure that there's many of
- 0:58you out there, thousands of listeners out there, but we want to get into the
- 1:03stupid, stupid extra thousands.
- 1:05That's why you got to hit that share button.
- 1:07Hit the like so we could get somewhere. Hit that comment. Talk to me.
- 1:11Emails on my subscription. You need to talk. I'm that person.
- 1:15We got an emotional little one because you know what?
- 1:18I said on my previous or on previous podcast.
- 1:23Not previously but other podcasts
- 1:26and if you're following on my social i am
- 1:29celebrating yes i am celebrating 20 years of
- 1:32my car accident where i survived and i'm
- 1:35here to tell that story and when i tell that story people ask me questions david
- 1:40do you remember that day and i said yes and i will once again retell that story
- 1:46in the upcoming because it was on a late september 20 get 20 But 2005.
- 1:55That's correct, 2005.
- 1:56But the one thing that I always remember is prior to the co-action.
- 2:01And now I'm just going to tell this little story of where was I mentally,
- 2:05spiritually, physically prior to my co-action because I remember that.
- 2:09But what I want people, as they listen to this podcast, think about that time
- 2:14that you say, wow, that's probably one of the worst, if not the worst thing
- 2:19that ever happened to me. Excuse me.
- 2:21Got a little, drink a little bit of agua, water.
- 2:24Had a little bit of burp. You already know. And you already know water is essential.
- 2:30Be like water, my friend. Great Bruce Lee.
- 2:34But one of those things, I want people to close their eyes and remember that
- 2:38time, if you have any, when you said, wow, this is the worst thing that ever happened to me.
- 2:43Whether it's in a car accident Whether it's Some type of accident Whether it's
- 2:46something That was beyond Your control Your.
- 2:52But we're going to give it a little bit of a caveat because there are times
- 2:54that there are things that are unpredictable in life.
- 2:57And we're going to live a life where things are just unpredictable,
- 3:00whether it's a car accident, whatever it is, where it kind of emotionally took
- 3:06a toll on you physically, whatever it is.
- 3:08Sometimes there's people that start to sense that there's something is about
- 3:13to happen. Now, for those people out there that are trying to say,
- 3:17but sometimes when you feel that way, you're manifesting negativity.
- 3:20You could be right on that. Nobody, you know what? It's not even open for debate.
- 3:26It is just me listening that that could be happening. That is true.
- 3:30Sometimes when we start thinking negativity, sometimes things happen.
- 3:34But sometimes in life, you got that premonition that, hey, I just got a bad
- 3:38feeling about this. You know what I mean? Something's going on.
- 3:41I want people, anybody, all my listeners, if I was listening to out there,
- 3:45my beautiful, legendary folks, my legendary deconstructing topic,
- 3:50family, if you went through a drama, if you went through something,
- 3:53think about that time prior to that.
- 3:56And I'm going to take you back to September of 2000. I keep saying 2000 because I'm looking at a clock.
- 4:03Yeah, 2005, I apologize. I apologize. I'm looking at a clock on a calendar because
- 4:08I'm just trying to think Because I do remember And where was I spiritually?
- 4:14How do you even know? Spiritually, I'm going to say That prior to my car accident I was going to say,
- 4:22I survived that story. I got three screws on my left foot. But we're here to
- 4:26tell that story. That's for sure.
- 4:28Prior to my own character spiritually, if I grabbed spiritually.
- 4:32I was nowhere, you know, the best way to describe it is where you know there's something out there.
- 4:39You know, being that I'm Christian, raising a Christian household,
- 4:43and, you know, we all come from different works of life or different paths or
- 4:48whatever the case might be.
- 4:49And, you know, thank the good Lord that I'm here. Let's go. Amen. Woo, let's get it.
- 4:53But I always listen to and observe. And at that time, I was,
- 4:58how can I say? I was spiritually broken.
- 5:01And it's like I was seeking for answers and all that good stuff.
- 5:05Because somewhere what it was is this.
- 5:07And this happened to a lot of people.
- 5:10You know who you can be, damn it. You know you could do better.
- 5:14You know you could be the best version of your life or whatever the case might
- 5:19be, even if it takes a long time.
- 5:20But there are times that there's things that trigger you And at that time I
- 5:25was triggered to say I'm capable of doing so much But where I'm at spiritually It's nowhere to be found.
- 5:35Emotionally, you know, I started to I remember I was working in this job Where,
- 5:40you know, I was working What they would call the third shift Or whatever they
- 5:43did, case You know, I leave that job And when I'm walking home We're talking
- 5:47about, you know, 10, 10 o'clock Almost hitting 10 o'clock
- 5:50And I remember there was a liquor store.
- 5:52And for some reason, I do remember the liquor store on a weekday closing a little
- 5:56early sometimes at 10. Now it's like 11, 12, depending.
- 6:01And I remember there were times that I'd see the gay like half-weight and,
- 6:04you know, sometimes I'd grab a little bit of bottle, you know, a little rum.
- 6:07And then I'd drink and I'd kind of go to sleep. And I remember going to sleep
- 6:11because at that time, and when it came to my profession, you know,
- 6:15I'm a young cat. I'm a young lad.
- 6:16I was nowhere. where I'm in this job, in a regular job. When I say a regular job, it's like.
- 6:22How can I say it to you? You know, it was a job that just, a company that just was about to be sold.
- 6:28So they were just about to shut down, in a sense. You know, you hear the rumors or whatever the case.
- 6:34So I'm like, all right, then what?
- 6:37But then, you know, I wanted, even at that time, I wanted, I was into the writing.
- 6:42At that time, was podcasting, I believe, was a thing back then?
- 6:46It was, if I'm not mistaken. because I've been listening to podcasts for a long
- 6:50time, from the first days with the Apple, what do you call that?
- 6:56Not the iTouch, the iPod. And I remember the Apple thing, the Apple Store, whatever.
- 7:02There was like about 100 podcasters when I started listening to podcasts.
- 7:08Maybe a thousand, maybe, maybe dollars.
- 7:11But just the fact that I always thought about being in a platform so I could
- 7:14talk to people, share my stories. But at that time, I didn't have those stories to share that much.
- 7:20But I just know that I could touch people's life and help them.
- 7:24And when I touch people's life, then they go there and then just pay it forward, whatever it is.
- 7:29And during that time when I was emotionally broken, professionally, I was lost.
- 7:34I was kind of felt like in a dead end kind of spot.
- 7:38And I used to go to sleep and I used to close my eyes.
- 7:42And there was this one person That I was kind of Full of connection for And
- 7:48I remember I used to tell that person You know, help me, help me.
- 7:53Help me here. I know who I could become, but just help me.
- 7:57And I was just up to no good. I think prior to that, even a year prior to that,
- 8:01I lost my apartment because I lost my job, couldn't pay. I mean,
- 8:04I was just, you know, living with my family.
- 8:06I was just a disaster waiting to happen, basically.
- 8:12And I felt kind of like that, like there was something, you know what I mean?
- 8:15There was something, and you start to kind of learn a couple of things in life.
- 8:18You know, you go to history. You start learning history.
- 8:21You start picking a little bit of everything, you say, come on.
- 8:25You know, I got these beautiful stories that if you're talking about 20 years
- 8:30ago, if I go back to 30 years ago, I was a homeless teenager.
- 8:34So basically it's like, I got the story. I know who I could be.
- 8:38Keep in mind, even 20 years ago, because 10 years prior to that,
- 8:43I woke up one day in the street. I said, I want to be the mayor of New York City.
- 8:47But how can you become something when you're
- 8:50here in the bottom of the bottom yeah but you ever felt that
- 8:53way that you know you could be it's like you
- 8:56know and and i'm trying to be realistic but let's say at one
- 8:59point in your life if somebody decided they want to be an astronaut
- 9:02but yet they're afraid of heights you
- 9:06know or they want to be an astronaut
- 9:09but they just window one you know window cleaning nothing wrong with
- 9:11that i'm just saying like wait how can
- 9:14you think of wanting to be this when you over here in
- 9:17the bottom like bottom bottom bottom like bottom
- 9:20of the barrel like the matter of fact if he was a drink you'll be
- 9:22a 40 ounce and that's that type of bottom bottom of the barrel and that's how
- 9:28i felt it's like how can i get there and you come across people and you start
- 9:34telling people's story and people they gravitate to you there's a good guy this
- 9:38is i like this guy this person is this this person is that you know what i'm saying.
- 9:43And that's how you start to think, like, prior to my accident,
- 9:47it's like there was something there, and I know I wanted to do,
- 9:51but every single day, I kept on struggling and struggling and struggling,
- 9:57struggling with my emotions,
- 9:59struggling physically, and I was just drinking a little bit extra, you know what I mean?
- 10:04But it was more like, okay, I really was not doing anything.
- 10:08A little party here, a party there. You know, it was just, it's like wherever
- 10:13the wind, you know, there's that thing.
- 10:16I go wherever the wind takes me, basically. And it's that, you know,
- 10:20kind of thing where if you're in a sailboat, and if you're a sailboat,
- 10:24and if you put the sails, if you don't touch the sails, and you just leave it
- 10:29at us, then you're going to go wherever the wind pushes you.
- 10:31And that's where I was at.
- 10:34I had my little, believe it or not, you know, if you look at my podcast,
- 10:38my profile, whatever it is, handsome guy there.
- 10:4120 years ago, I had a little, you know, Puerto Rican alpha, you know what I mean, with the curlies.
- 10:46Then I did the cornrows. I had somebody do the cornrows, all that good stuff, you know.
- 10:50Living it up, I guess. I don't know. But that's what was happening during this
- 10:55time before my car accident.
- 10:58You start to ask yourself, what do you want to do?
- 11:02How can you?
- 11:04You got the power in your fingertips It's there You can do things But where
- 11:12to start if sometimes And I'm not even going to say Sometimes this happens to
- 11:16a lot of people Man and woman Those in between,
- 11:19Is that we kind of Because let's just say in my household And this happened
- 11:24in every household We got the togetherness But not the togetherness You know,
- 11:28you got You know, growing up in a household where you don't have mentors.
- 11:34And it's nobody's fault. It's just that, you know, things happen when,
- 11:38hey, listen, when you migrate to this country, you leave your family over there
- 11:42and whatever country you're in, you come here, you start fresh,
- 11:45and you go to these neighborhoods where there's violence and drugs and so on,
- 11:49and you kind of say, damn, where's the mentor at?
- 11:52Where's those elders that you can pick the brain in? There were elders out there,
- 11:56and there's some elders in the hood that, Yeah, listen, you learn a lot, and I have.
- 12:01But you sometimes kind of wish, and this is why I created a podcast,
- 12:04because I want some people.
- 12:05And I know there's going to be a lot of people, but people, you know,
- 12:08the young youth, the ill youth, the oldest.
- 12:12Regardless of anything, it's never too late to gravitate to a mentor.
- 12:16That's why I created this podcast. Let me be your mentor.
- 12:20Because at that time, I was in need of something, and I had people,
- 12:24I had some friends, I had people that I worked with, But still,
- 12:27there was this thing, there was this drive, like, damn.
- 12:31Who can I pick the brain, as they say?
- 12:35And that's where my mind was at. That's where I was at prior to my car accident.
- 12:40And like I said, just close your eyes and just think about where were you prior
- 12:45to that thing that happened to you?
- 12:48Kind of like that wake-up call. You might say, hey, that car accident was a
- 12:51little wake-up. Wake-up.
- 12:55And that's where I was at. That's where I was at.
- 12:59You're going to do more podcasts as time goes by in terms of where I was at.
- 13:04Because, again, as I'm getting closer to my car accident, it was getting worse.
- 13:10Very, very worse. And at this point, 20 years ago, you feel a little gleam that
- 13:17that's something that's out there that you know you're about to happen.
- 13:22And it's out there. But you just don't know what it is.
- 13:25But it's out there. And I find myself 20 years later, not too far from what
- 13:32I was feeling 20 years ago.
- 13:35I'm in the cubs. I'm doing this. But I'm in the cusp, doing something incredible.
- 13:43But it's something that I'm missing that I need to address.
- 13:48Because I always said, if I'm going to do this and run for mayor of New York City in four years,
- 13:55whatever it is, the universe needs to know who
- 13:57I am it needs to acknowledge me and know who I am because there's a lot of people
- 14:02out there that are just waiting for something good to be like let's go because
- 14:07sometimes in life there's a
- 14:09lot of people that just gotta grab their hands and be like let's effing go.
- 14:16That's why I'm doing this podcast because 20 years ago I was that person that
- 14:21needed a hand for someone to say effing go But let's make it happen.
- 14:28We out of here. Much love. Once again, hit that like.
- 14:32Feel free to comment. Once again, people think like, what's this like button
- 14:35for? It does help the algorithm.
- 14:38The notification, it does help for you to listen. The share button. Throw it out there, man.
- 14:44It's funny. If I, let's say, was a hacker, I'm just saying, and I was to see
- 14:50like, oh, let me go to your phone.
- 14:51The amount of things that people share is like garbage.
- 14:55A lot of them. Hey, listen, you want to share funny jokes, you want to share
- 14:58this, you want to share political.
- 15:00But let's start sharing something that is good for your mind and your soul and your body and all that.
- 15:06And that's why you need to share my podcast. And if you do come across a good
- 15:09podcast that is helping you, hey, by all means, let me know.
- 15:14Feel free to share that one as well. Well, let's make it happen.
- 15:17I'm out of here. Peace. I'm out.
