- 0:00Speaker 1: Today's episode is sponsored by or Now. Recently, on this podcast,
- 0:03we spent four hours talking about how identity theft and
- 0:06hacking someone's personal information led their life to near ruin.
- 0:10Xander was framed, lost money, and even the people around
- 0:13him were effective, and our main character could have avoided
- 0:16all of these issues with today's sponsor Aura. Aura has
- 0:20identity theft protection, which monitors your personal data, including your
- 0:23social Security number, and searches billions of data points, including
- 0:27public court records and the dark web, to alert you
- 0:29about potential danger. And if your credit file has been compromised,
- 0:33you will get alerted in minutes thanks to Aura's financial
- 0:36fraud protection. Plus, if someone tries to open credit cards
- 0:39or take loans out in your name, you can instantly
- 0:41lock your file with a quick tap on the app.
- 0:44David was able to drain Xander's bank account and sign
- 0:47him up for less than savory magazines, and all of
- 0:50this suspicious activity would have been stopped in its tracks
- 0:53Aura an alert would have come, he would have blocked
- 0:55his card, and Xander would have found out that David
- 0:57was messing with him a lot sooner. Plus, with URAH,
- 1:00you also get a password manager that lets you store
- 1:03and access your password securely across apps. This could have
- 1:06also kept David out of his social media so that
- 1:08Xander could have made more deniability when the police tried
- 1:11to pin the crimes on him. So don't be like
- 1:13Xander and instead get this all in one app in
- 1:15one affordable price. I don't know about you, but I'm
- 1:18not leaving myself and those I care about vulnerable to
- 1:21data breaches and data brokers. And if you don't want
- 1:23to be either, then you can go to or dot
- 1:25com slash creek cast to try two weeks for free.
- 1:29That is right, two weeks free. Just go to the

- 1:35exposed and see if Aura is right for you. Today,
- 1:38thank you so much to Ora for sponsoring the show,
- 1:40and we are now back to the episode.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Welcome back to creek Cast.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Today, we have an unbelievably spooky story called I'm Blind.
- 1:58I'm not sure how many steps my staircase has. God,
- 2:01that would suck.
- 2:03Speaker 2: They're just kind of hit.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I mean the title, Oh my god, I'm blind, I'm
- 2:05not sure how many steps my staircase has that's got
- 2:08to be a predicament for every blind person, right, Or
- 2:10do you think they count them?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Uh? I think you do count them because I think
- 2:13you are very aware of every like spatial thing around you. Right,
- 2:20Because like I've talked to blind people who are like, yeah,
- 2:23I know how to get through my house because I
- 2:25know exactly how many steps it takes to get to
- 2:27every part of my house.
- 2:28Speaker 2: They know how to talk. I'm just kidding.
- 2:30Speaker 1: No, the uh chuck, no, the uh.
- 2:36Speaker 3: This is this is an interesting I was really caught
- 2:38by two things with this. The title is creepy because
- 2:42it alludes to like, oh, uh, there's more stairs than
- 2:46there was last time, or there's fewer stairs than there
- 2:48was last time.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I think it's good.
- 2:49Speaker 3: And then uh, I like that the The author's user
- 2:53name is Emma Watson, but Dummer.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I enjoyed that as well.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a pretty good name. I checked her out.
- 3:00Her name is Helena.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Watch.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Let's let's let's all focus on Hunter making fun of
- 3:11blind people. I think that's the important thing here. As
- 3:13a matter of fact, I'll add it to the list
- 3:14of things he hates the disabled.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I love.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Uh, what are you going to say? Go ahead?
- 3:18Speaker 2: I love I love disabled people.
- 3:21Speaker 1: This is what I thought you were going to say
- 3:23that somehow even worse I do. It's even worse. That
- 3:26is even worse. Okay. Her name is Helena Castellan. I
- 3:30believe it's pronounce or casteline. She seems like a very
- 3:33prolific uh no sleep writer, a bunch of different stories
- 3:36on her subreddit uh and on a reddit. She also
- 3:39has a buy me a Coffee account, it seems, but
- 3:42otherwise I don't see any links to her being published anywhere,
- 3:46at least from like a just a cursory glance. This
- 3:48is actually an interesting model. I haven't seen a lot
- 3:51of people on her cofi like her buying me a Coffee.
- 3:54You can purchase like extra parts to stories and stuff
- 3:56like that, which I think is the cool idea. Show
- 3:58a lot of story free and then if you want
- 4:00more of it, well there it did.
- 4:01Speaker 3: I think from what we saw here, there's four parts
- 4:04who are going to be reading today, and there's more
- 4:06parts on her coffee. So if you like it, support
- 4:10the author, go participate in the coffee, indulge more into
- 4:14other art. You know it's just nothing, but support them
- 4:16and help them create more and more cool shit.
- 4:18Speaker 1: So m hm, yep, it looks pretty sweet. But for
- 4:21now we'll go and get into it. I got a
- 4:23bit this one is a hunter fine, so you know
- 4:24those are few and far between. And I gotta say
- 4:28I like the title. I think. Sorry I got choked
- 4:31up complimenting Lord. I think I like the title. I
- 4:35think it's an interesting topic. I do think it's interesting.
- 4:38I don't really think about like how life is different
- 4:42for some people, Like I remember when I was reading
- 4:44House of Leaves. In the intro, it talks about like, uh,
- 4:48the police are investigating apartment building that someone died in,
- 4:53and they're like, at first, the police had questions as
- 4:55to why, uh, none of what was it? Nothing in
- 5:02the house had labels, The light in the fridge was out,
- 5:05stuff like that. It's like, oh, he was blind, and
- 5:08it's like, oh, yeah, I guess you wouldn't need the
- 5:10light bulb and that refrigerator.
- 5:12Speaker 3: It would take a lot more for me to make
- 5:14that delineation.
- 5:19Speaker 1: There were more layers than that. Actually, hold on, man, you're.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Really putting a really selling. House of Leaves is a
- 5:25real crime thriller here. I mean they went in and
- 5:29the fridge didn't have a light bulb. So put two
- 5:32and two together. He's blind. Wow, listen to Jody Foster
- 5:44and Signs of the Lambs right now, that's impressive, man.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Wow.
- 5:47Speaker 1: His apartment, however, didn't come close to anything envisioned by Joel. Okay,
- 5:52hold on, hold on, I'm trying to let me make
- 5:56my case until Okay, here it is sure. His place
- 6:01was eclectic, but hardly grotesque or even that far out
- 6:04of the ordinary, until, of course, you took a more
- 6:06careful look and realized, Hey, why are all these candles
- 6:10unused by no clocks, not on the walls, not even
- 6:13on the corner of a dresser, And what's with these
- 6:15strange pale books. For the fact that there's hardly a
- 6:19bulb in the whole apartment, not even in the refrigerator. Well, that,
- 6:22of course, was Zampano's greatest ironic gesture. Love of love,
- 6:26written by the broken hearted, love of life, written by
- 6:28the dead, all of this language of light, film and photography,
- 6:31and he hadn't seen a thing since the mid fifties.
- 6:34He was blind as a bat.
- 6:35Speaker 2: So, but I don't have a clock on my walls.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Listen, that's significant. It's because when the police investigate his house.
- 6:44It's covered in writings. There's like stories written across books
- 6:49and books and books, and there's journals everywhere, and he's
- 6:51been writing on the wall. But then he's blind, So
- 6:54how was he doing that? And that's where the question
- 6:57comes from.
- 6:58Speaker 3: So, yeah, the kicker was the light bulb in the fridge.
- 7:01You really have to go of your way to remove
- 7:03the light bulb in the fridge.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Well, if it goes out.
- 7:09Speaker 3: When have you ever in your life, when have you
- 7:12ever heard someone be like, hey, man, real, I just
- 7:14gotta turn I have to change the light in my fridge.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Listen, No, I have had a garage fridge. We know
- 7:20every white middle class family has the garage fridge, right,
- 7:25you know I'm talking no comment, Okay, that fridge. You're
- 7:30not holding up a sign right now or anything right now? No,
- 7:33could you do that to me? Sometimes I'll have a
- 7:35sign that's like psychopath or whatever. That fridge out there.
- 7:39I've had the light go out there, but everyone just
- 7:42leaves it because they're like, well it's the garage fridge.
- 7:43Who cares it is possible for the light bulb to
- 7:46go out of fridge?
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a blind person's house.
- 7:50Speaker 1: That happens, so you would never know, So you would
- 7:52never know.
- 7:53Speaker 2: That's true.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Uh okay, the.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Hey, if you guys are listening to this, this throwing
- 8:00episode of Cat and Mouse, listen to it on Spotify.
- 8:07We appreciate you. I really and I got I gotta
- 8:09tell you too. We really need a this needs to
- 8:12be a strong story. Last week, I've been seeing the
- 8:15people our viewers are revolting against us.
- 8:20Speaker 2: We need a We need a strong one here.
- 8:23Speaker 1: If you didn't enjoy that, then I don't know who
- 8:26you are because I was having my life. You're meet.
- 8:31Speaker 2: You didn't enjoy that.
- 8:33Speaker 1: You were me and you didn't know that fridge's light
- 8:35bulbs could go out. That's you. That's what you sound like.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Got my stomach personally.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Well true, I'm just letting you know. I've I've been
- 8:44drinking this chocolate milk. I think it's spoiled. I think
- 8:46it's gone bad.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Are you still drinking it?
- 8:49Speaker 2: I mean it's almost done. I feel bad if I
- 8:51just dump it out.
- 8:52Speaker 1: If it's bad, throw it out. You and Kaylor the
- 8:55same way. She will eat rotten food because she's like,
- 8:56I don't want to be wasteful. It's like it's already
- 8:59gone to waste.
- 9:00Speaker 3: This is definitely it's it's almost it's like a Greek tragedy.
- 9:05I'm like, it's like Oedipus Rex or something. I'm looking
- 9:07at this and it's resembling the last bit of chocolate
- 9:10milk in the bottom of the Chateau Local milk bottle.
- 9:13Is it looks like the diarrhea that's gonna be in
- 9:15my toilet later. That's what it feels like.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Okay, can we get to the story before you say
- 9:20something else? I don't like.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Hmmm, sour like a warhead. Yep, let's do it.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Milk should not be so Okay. Actually, I'm gonna step
- 9:31right here to my mini tridge and I'm gonna grab
- 9:34a drink.
- 9:34Speaker 2: To one second, you pull on a giant, a giant
- 9:39bottle of vodka.
- 9:42Speaker 1: All right. I was actually sitting here listening to see
- 9:45if you had anything snarky to say, and you did,
- 9:47so you failed. I thought I thought you could hear me.
- 9:49I was obviously talking to you, and that time I
- 9:53got up actually to get the drink, so I tricked
- 9:56you twice.
- 9:57Speaker 2: You're a sick fuck. That's very house of leaves of you.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Okay, shut up. That's an amazing book.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Well, I'm just saying that, like brilliant cat and Mouse
- 10:09game you're playing with me. It reminded me of my
- 10:11favorite horror crime.
- 10:13Speaker 1: No, what are you talking about? Cat and mouse game?
- 10:16Speaker 3: This cat and Mouse, that's what all crime throws are.
- 10:19You're trying to catch the purp. When they go in,
- 10:21they're like, how exactly?
- 10:23Speaker 1: Okay, no, no, no.
- 10:30Speaker 3: The cat asks if he's blind, how did he right
- 10:34on the wall? And then the mouse does You'll have
- 10:36to find out cat and mouse. Okay, all right, let's
- 10:42get into it, and we get.
- 10:43Speaker 1: To Okay, let's get into it. I've always been blind,
- 10:46and that's fine by me. I'm glad I never got
- 10:49to see and then lose my sight. That would have
- 10:51been too depressing. Instead, I don't get to mourn something
- 10:54I've never had. I've lived in this Upper East Side
- 10:58flat for a really, really long time. As a writer,
- 11:01it's important for me to have my own space. I've
- 11:04been told my riding style is exquisite because I cannot see.
- 11:07I focus on the other senses, and my riding shines
- 11:10by stimulating them. I don't say a red apple red
- 11:14has no meaning for me. I say warm, firm and sour,
- 11:18a bit sweet, fits in your hand, smells of grass
- 11:21at childhood. I'm not gonna lie. This flat was nice
- 11:25for a while, but really tiny, and I want to
- 11:28learn to play the piano, so naturally, since I've saved
- 11:32up a lot of money for my works about this
- 11:35beautiful mansion in the suburbs. At least that's how my
- 11:38friends and family called it. I don't care. I can't
- 11:41see anyway. I just needed to fill the warm sunlight
- 11:44in the kitchen, the crisp air for my balcony. I
- 11:47drink my coffee in the morning and listen to the birds,
- 11:49and I work day and night. People thought it would
- 11:53be a problem if my house had an upper floor, because,
- 11:55according to them, even if I've lived my whole life blind,
- 11:58I cook, chop up, take fast, and clean the house.
- 12:01I apparently can't climb some damn stairs. No problem for me.
- 12:05I counted the steps of my staircase fourteen. Eventually I
- 12:09got used to it, and I even started going up
- 12:12and down the stairs faster since I knew exactly how
- 12:14many steps I needed to climb. That's the thing when
- 12:17you're blind. Some movements become reflexes. Since you live alone,
- 12:21you learn how to position certain things and you always
- 12:24find them in the same place. One day, however, I
- 12:27was going down the stairs and I tripped where I
- 12:30expected the floor to be. There was this additional step,
- 12:34and I didn't think much of it. Figured I must
- 12:36have not paid attention. I mean, yes, it was odd,
- 12:40because after thirty years of being blind, tripping wasn't really
- 12:43a common thing. But I don't look much into it. Uh. Look, however,
- 12:49when I went up again, I tripped at the top.
- 12:52That was definitely unusual. Sure as it was one extra step.
- 12:57I went back the stairs and counted fifteen, counted again,
- 13:03fourteen The fuck? Sure enough, fourteen steps whatever. I want
- 13:08to sleep. A few days past and I didn't trip anymore.
- 13:11I played it off with some air my tired mind made.
- 13:14Then one night, as I went downstairs to get a
- 13:16glass of water, I tripped again. This time I really
- 13:21fell down on my foot. That was not a skip step.
- 13:24There were at least two additional steps. I felt around
- 13:27and stood up. My foot hurt a lot, but the
- 13:30ankle was good. I couldn't really stand up on it,
- 13:33but no serious damage. I went up carefully, counting sixteen
- 13:40what the fuck it's funny because there's no quotes here,
- 13:45just coming in to say the obscenity. Yes, that's really fine.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I like it.
- 13:49Speaker 1: That's good. Keep it going. Sure, you mess up, you
- 13:53count one more or one less, but two more. The
- 13:56house was so still, so silent. No birds, no bees,
- 13:59no car passing. Normal people fear the darkness. I fear
- 14:03the silence. I went downstairs again, counting. By the time
- 14:07I reached the bottom, I counted fourteen. Again. I went
- 14:10up again. Eighteen. That was absolutely ridiculous. Was someone messing
- 14:14with me? How could they even mess with me like that?
- 14:18Speaker 2: I've never heard of.
- 14:18Speaker 1: A burgular burgular I've never heard of a burglar to
- 14:25break into someone's house and add steps to their stairs. Still,
- 14:29I went to check to see if I locked the door.
- 14:31I can make my way around pretty neat, through the kitchen,
- 14:34then into the hallway, and then I bumped into something.
- 14:38I froze, my organs tensed up, my hair stood up
- 14:42all ears. I never felt so much fear in my life.
- 14:46Decided to go on and check the door. Yeah locked.
- 14:50I made my way back upstairs. This time I didn't
- 14:53bump into anything or anyone.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Eighteen for Fox's sakes.
- 15:02Speaker 1: All night, all I did was go up and down
- 15:04like a lunatic. Each time I got different results. Back upstairs,
- 15:09I decided to go down and make one final count. Fourteen. Okay,
- 15:13it's probably going to be more. Fifteen, hope still going
- 15:17seventeen nineteen twenty one. That's a record twenty seven thirty
- 15:25three that could not be possible. Fifty two eighty eight.
- 15:32I could absolutely feel the sense of impending doom. Something
- 15:36was there with me, and it was vile, disgusting and unnatural,
- 15:39and this staircase was never ending. One hundred and two.
- 15:45I finally gave up whatever this was. I didn't want
- 15:48to reach the bottom. I went back up. At the
- 15:50moment I turned my back to go up, I tried
- 15:52to be brave, but something got over me, and I
- 15:54ran on all fours, desperate to reach the top, desperate
- 15:57to run, run, run back to my bedroom. I don't
- 16:01remember how I got inside and locked my door, but
- 16:03I did. And I'm setting here and typing. This house
- 16:06is strange. It's eerie and disturbing, and I think if
- 16:10I'd gotten to the bottom of the staircase, I would
- 16:12have left this world. I don't think that was my
- 16:14house anymore. However, no matter what stupid, cryptic, eerie, unnatural
- 16:19staircase I inveld is important not only that I don't
- 16:22go down there, but then nothing comes up here either.
- 16:26Right now, I can hear it creaking end of part one.
- 16:29Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 16:30Speaker 1: That's the end of part one that was sick not okay.
- 16:33So we don't really talk about this a lot because
- 16:35we're kind of like we operate under the impression of like, well,
- 16:41this is a horror story that's submitted to No Sleep, uh,
- 16:46and then the author has to act like they're really
- 16:48there or whatever. Right, but this is one of the
- 16:50only stories we've read where it's because of its length
- 16:53and the way it's written, it actually kind of feels
- 16:56like the tone of someone who is in this situation.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I think I just think that there's not
- 17:02a lot of fat around to it, Like I mean exactly. Yeah,
- 17:05it's just sort of the point the use of numbers,
- 17:07And I think the idea to what really elevates this
- 17:11is you could do this as well and have it
- 17:13be creepy if you could see, but having it be
- 17:16blind is now even we the audience are left to
- 17:22imagine what is like what is happening to the house
- 17:26around them to have it, you know, just magically these
- 17:28stairs keep adding or you know, decreasing in number, and
- 17:32it's it's just a lot of fun and to just
- 17:34the subtle element of like not really emphasizing too much
- 17:37in what's in there with this person?
- 17:39Speaker 2: Something's in there with them, it's just creepy.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I mean, it's nice to go like it's you're stepping
- 17:45into this pit effectively, or like if the staircase keeps going,
- 17:49who knows its like it goes all the way down
- 17:50to hell. Right, you have this like infinite staircase, but
- 17:53they can't see it, like it could be one step
- 17:56at a time right in front of their feet, or
- 17:57it could be this chasm that's opened up. But then
- 18:00being blind as a layer to it. The way that
- 18:03it's worded makes it feel very real given our situation.
- 18:08Stuff like yeah, I really like that.
- 18:10Speaker 2: That was That was a great intro the Do you
- 18:13think that this author is blind? Do we have any
- 18:15evidence for that?
- 18:18Speaker 1: This is I would say no because the title of
- 18:21this story is I Am blind, So it's like that's
- 18:24the unique thing there. And then a bunch of our
- 18:26other stuff, doesn't None of the titles seem to do that.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I mean just because you're blind, I mean
- 18:32everything has to be about being blind and just just curious.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Just because it was so well spoken to. I really
- 18:38like the idea too.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Of people say that her writing is rich because she
- 18:41doesn't say that Apple's read. It's you know, like more
- 18:44of the taste and feel of.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Something, just a little little things that. I mean, we
- 18:49were kind of talking about you just you really take
- 18:51for granted your eyesight and stuff. You know, I think,
- 18:54like you you really reject a lot of the other
- 18:57senses because of that.
- 18:58Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't know. Oh, it's a lot of fun.
- 19:01Speaker 3: That was a really quick one too, So I'm curious
- 19:02to see if the other parts are as you know,
- 19:05are they as condensed? Does she start getting longer with
- 19:08her writing? Gonna be curious?
- 19:10Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, it's got me hooked. I certainly liked it,
- 19:14even if that was just to stay at alone vignette
- 19:16like by itself and be like that's Cool's.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Yeah, just a spooky, little you know, story is nice.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Yeah. So Part two, as I typed out the first post,
- 19:26actually dictated it. I would stop from time to time
- 19:29to listen. The creaking was not consistent and almost imperceptible.
- 19:35A normal person couldn't probably hear it, but my remaining
- 19:39four senses were overly sharpened. I guess what scared me
- 19:42most was the silence in between.
- 19:44Speaker 2: That was one thing too, I forgot to say, And
- 19:46the first part was really liked.
- 19:48Speaker 3: The use of like the silence, like kind of really raising,
- 19:54like the absolute the nothingness from all your other senses
- 19:57would make you so scared versus being like in the
- 19:59dark and not be being able to see anything. Imagine
- 20:01being in a place where you're descending these steps and
- 20:03like all you can hear is the sound of your
- 20:06feet on the floor, you know, like no cars.
- 20:08Speaker 1: You have absolutely no idea what's going on. It really
- 20:11does feel like your house just gained more steps all
- 20:14of a sudden. Yeah, yeah, you have no visual lot.
- 20:17Yeah yeah, I'd speak to dictate, I'd hear the creaking,
- 20:21I'd stop. The creaking would stop too. It's almost as
- 20:25if it's almost as if it was mocking me. I
- 20:29didn't want to think if the thing I'd bumped into
- 20:31felt like bumping into a coat wrack or something. But
- 20:34I didn't stop to feel around. I have a consistent
- 20:37urge to flee any dangerous situation i'm in because I
- 20:40know I can't fight it. Even if I were fast,
- 20:43even if I were strong, I can't fight something I
- 20:45don't fully understand. They could be standing right in front
- 20:48of me, and if they were still enough, I wouldn't know.
- 20:51As I finished writing, I reached for my phone. I
- 20:54figured i'd call my sister. I was starting to fill
- 20:57the warmth of the morning light on my shoulders through
- 20:59the windows. And here's some birds. Judging on how stuff
- 21:02I felt. It must have been up all night. The
- 21:05creaking had stopped, and it made its way up to
- 21:08my door. Was it standing on the other side?
- 21:11Speaker 2: Hey, Siri called Daphne.
- 21:13Speaker 1: My voice sounded so hoarse. Usually I talked to myself
- 21:17a lot, I sing whatever, I play music. This time,
- 21:21I've been so quiet, so afraid to make a sound,
- 21:25so afraid to breathe. The phone was ringing, Hi, there
- 21:29you good.
- 21:29Speaker 2: It's kind of early.
- 21:31Speaker 1: What time is it like?
- 21:33Speaker 4: Six am?
- 21:34Speaker 2: Damn? I'm sorry, everything okay.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I stopped slowly. I grab up to the door and
- 21:40place my ear on the oak wood to listen. I
- 21:43can feel someone's present outside waiting.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Ooh, that's creepy.
- 21:49Speaker 3: I think someone broke into my house and they're being
- 21:51very discreet about it. I've started noticing things unusual stuff.
- 21:58I trip when I shouldn't. Last i'd it bumped into
- 22:00something like your coat wrack?
- 22:03Speaker 4: What are you sure?
- 22:06Speaker 1: Yes?
- 22:06Speaker 2: And the staircase kept creaking right now.
- 22:09Speaker 3: I've locked myself into the bedroom, but I think it's
- 22:11waiting on the other side of the door.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Fuck. That's so creepy. I have to be the opposite nine.
- 22:18But I'll phone it if I'm late, I'll come check
- 22:20it out.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Thanks. Do you have a key?
- 22:23Speaker 1: Silence?
- 22:24Speaker 2: Okay, daft? Do you have a key?
- 22:26Speaker 1: No?
- 22:27Speaker 2: Well, why didn't I give you one?
- 22:30Speaker 4: You did, but I didn't take it. I felt weird
- 22:33having a key to your house.
- 22:36Speaker 1: For fox sa.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Whatever. Just come, I'll fucking go downstairs again and.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Let you in.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Okay, stay safe?
- 22:47Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 22:47Speaker 2: Whatever?
- 22:49Speaker 1: After that?
- 22:50Speaker 3: So here that silence? Do you think that something like?
- 22:53It feels like something was interjecting into the conversation, right,
- 22:57a complete tonal shift?
- 22:58Speaker 2: Am I wrong?
- 23:00Speaker 1: No? I think you're right where it's like, uh, do
- 23:02you know everything was fined up until do you have
- 23:05a key?
- 23:06Speaker 2: What okay.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Also, Daphne's response, you would think would be more intense,
- 23:11where she's like, I think someone's in my house. Right,
- 23:16You think it'd be like, oh my gosh, I'm calling
- 23:17the police and get whatever. But she's just kind of like,
- 23:19that's creepy. Well, I have to be at the office
- 23:21at nine. She's kind of almost dismissive of it a bit,
- 23:24so that, yeah, do you have a key silence? Do
- 23:27you have a key?
- 23:28Speaker 3: No?
- 23:28Speaker 1: And then you did, but I didn't take it. I
- 23:31felt weird having a key to her.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I think the whole idea of like being you're waking
- 23:35up at sixty and they're like it's kind of early.
- 23:36At six, she's kind of groggy, and then she's like,
- 23:38I think someone's.
- 23:39Speaker 2: In my house. I feel like you would you'd be like,
- 23:41what what the fuck?
- 23:43Speaker 3: That's weird, Like I think she was given off normal vibes.
- 23:46And then even when she's like, well, i'll just call
- 23:47in and say I'm gonna be late and I'll swing by,
- 23:49like it's very receptive, and then all of a sudden,
- 23:51you have a key. No, it's like very short answered.
- 23:54Before it was very ever flowing.
- 23:56Speaker 1: So I don't know there might be something there that's interation.
- 24:00I think you're right though, that there's definitely a tonal
- 24:02shift on purpose there.
- 24:03Speaker 2: No matter what.
- 24:04Speaker 3: The one things for certain is that that chocolate milk
- 24:06is worked. I mean, like I am having to hold
- 24:09everything in right now.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Go ahead, you can, you can run to the bathroom.
- 24:13Speaker 3: No, I want to see. I'm kind of hooked right
- 24:15now on seeing if you can hold it in or
- 24:18the story, the story maybe both.
- 24:20Speaker 1: What would happen if you just violently, if.
- 24:25Speaker 3: I had a violent diary in my pants, I would
- 24:26show the audience. It would show you the back of
- 24:28my legs and everything.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Okay, but I want to I want to know what happens. Okay,
- 24:37if that, if that milk gets too bad, you need
- 24:39to let me.
- 24:40Speaker 2: You know, I'll switch to mobile and I'll record that way.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Okay, all right, I hug imagine now that like the
- 24:52cameras cutting back and forth between my normal set up
- 24:55and you, like in a dark bathroom with the phone
- 24:57right under your chin and light, you can just hear
- 24:59very loud toilet noises. I don't want to come to that.
- 25:03Please read it. I hung up and sat on the floor,
- 25:08back against the door, waiting listening nothing was going on.
- 25:14Did I scare it off? She texted me she had
- 25:17ten more minutes until she got to my place. Okay.
- 25:21Finally I stood up and unlocked the door. I stood
- 25:25there in silence for a while. Options were very limited.
- 25:29Normal people could literally look around and make out if
- 25:31they were alone or not. I couldn't. All I could
- 25:35do was listen if whatever was there was being really still,
- 25:39really silent. My worst option was to feel around. That
- 25:44terrified me. I've talked to others Subsean similar for them
- 25:49was sticking their hand out in complete darkness. Thought of
- 25:53touching that thing made my skin crawl. The direct contact
- 25:58was so unbearable, so much more danger. But I had
- 26:01no choice because everything was silent, so I stuck my
- 26:05hands out. My heart raced with every step. I wanted
- 26:10to keep going, but at the same time, I wanted
- 26:13so badly to stop and turn around. Made my way
- 26:16to the stairs fourteen steps, acted normal. I was barefoot
- 26:21in the hardwood. Force felt so cold, so unusual against
- 26:25my skin. I thought that bothered me till I stepped
- 26:28into something sticky.
- 26:31Speaker 2: You you fucking fuck, fuck, what the fuck?
- 26:36Speaker 1: I gagged and wiped my foot on the carpet. I
- 26:38was gonna ask Daphne what that was. Made it to
- 26:41the door without any other occurrences. I unlocked it and
- 26:46was greeted by the familiar voice of my sister.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Hi, Oh God, I'm so sorry you have to go
- 26:51through this. I'm ready to call nine one one dialed
- 26:53up and everything. I'll take a look. I wanted Ryan
- 26:56to come too, but you know how it is with
- 26:58him and work.
- 27:00Speaker 1: I felt her warm hands around mind and her sweet perfume.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Thank you, it's such a comfort that you're here. Yeah,
- 27:06no problem. Please take a look. Tell me if you
- 27:09notice anything unusual and.
- 27:10Speaker 2: To stepped into something sticky in the living room, please
- 27:13tell me what it is. Okay, I will let's see.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Or past the room carefully without saying a word. Silence,
- 27:20So what is it?
- 27:22Speaker 2: Anything weird?
- 27:24Speaker 1: Silence? Oh, wasn't she speaking?
- 27:27Speaker 2: It's nothing alarming, It's just odd. What did I step on?
- 27:30First of all? That is jam?
- 27:32Speaker 3: Jam?
- 27:33Speaker 2: Yeah? Jam? Are you sure? Yep? There's a jar on
- 27:37your counter open. Maybe you forgot about it.
- 27:39Speaker 1: No I didn't.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I did not fucking eat jam.
- 27:42Speaker 3: But that's nothing. Things are a bit out of order.
- 27:46How usually pretty neat right now. It's a bit of
- 27:49a mess, but weird. Got a pan on the floor
- 27:53and this painting propped up on your dinner table taking
- 27:55from the wall. A pile of clothes spread around almost
- 27:58in a pattern.
- 28:00Speaker 2: What the fuck? Go upstairs and check.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Two, bro, if someone has just been living in her house.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Someone not only has someone been.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Living in your house, but they were like basically doing
- 28:10some kind of like fucking ritual or something.
- 28:13Speaker 1: And then yeah, yeah, they're just like they're just throwing
- 28:17clothes and they're eating. You do have terrified that. I
- 28:19have never considered that if you were blind in a
- 28:21really big house, there is if someone was really quiet,
- 28:25really sneaky, they could just live in the house with you.
- 28:28Yeah on oh my gosh, no, sir, no, sir, Oh
- 28:34that would be oh man. I could tell she didn't
- 28:40want to based on her hesitation. Eventually I heard her
- 28:43climb the stairs and walk around a bit.
- 28:46Speaker 3: So anything, please speak. There's nothing weird upstairs and no
- 28:53one anywhere. It's pretty neat.
- 28:56Speaker 1: That bothered me for some reason. How neat?
- 29:00Speaker 2: Oh the usual bedmade things in order? My bed is made.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't make it.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Oh god gosh, I don't like that. I don't like
- 29:12that at all.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I didn't make it. Oh no, I was literally sleeping
- 29:16in it. Then I woke up to get a glass
- 29:18of water. Then the weird shit happened. I locked myself
- 29:21in the bedroom. Didn't stop to make my fucking bed. Uh,
- 29:26I mean it's not perfectly made like a child tried to.
- 29:30Oh God, what a haunting details.
- 29:33Speaker 2: God, he said no one was there.
- 29:37Speaker 1: That met a little bit.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Yeah, he said, no one was there. No one Call
- 29:42the police.
- 29:44Speaker 1: I heard her getting downstairs.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Look, I can't why not someone's definitely fucking around my
- 29:50house and tell them what this one made?
- 29:53Speaker 2: Your bed, placed your pant.
- 29:54Speaker 3: On the floor, no signs of force entry. You didn't
- 29:57get hurt. I bumped into something in the middle of
- 30:00the night in the dark. How unusual. Okay, well, someone
- 30:05was definitely there. Look, there's not much I can do.
- 30:08I've checked everything. You're pretty safe. You have no attic,
- 30:12no basement, no back door, windows locked, doors locked. You're good.
- 30:16I'll you clean up and I'll get going. If there's
- 30:19anything weird, call me.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Okay.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I had to ask her, even though she was going
- 30:25to think I'm crazy.
- 30:27Speaker 2: How many stuf does my staircase have but count them
- 30:31for me? Fourteen as usual?
- 30:36Speaker 1: Okay, okay, uh. For one, I want to call out
- 30:39her Daphne's comment where she says, uh, our author says
- 30:44I bumped into something, and Daphne says, in the middle
- 30:46of the night, in the dark, how unusual that way
- 30:49in a jerk thing to say that was very rude
- 30:51to be like, oh, it was dark out, how could
- 30:53you see?
- 30:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it seems a bit odd because it's like, well,
- 30:57that doesn't really matter. But I'm still under the impression.
- 31:00I don't know that the the sister character, it just
- 31:03seems like it's not well, I'm making.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Leaps and bounds, but I'm like, it just seems odd.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I feel like there's something up with her.
- 31:11I also feel like, yes, I understand, like if my
- 31:16sister called me right now and I came over, she
- 31:17was like, I think someone's been here with me. Granted
- 31:19my sister's not blind, of course, but I'd probably be like,
- 31:22have you considered the possibility that you're stupid? Have you
- 31:25considered you consider not being dumb? Have you ever thought
- 31:28of that? Like, I don't know if I'd immediately be like,
- 31:32you're right, I'm calling the police and telling them that
- 31:33there's a man living in your house. It's all broken into,
- 31:36you know, so I kind of.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Get it, But I also feel like painting off the
- 31:42wall and like the living room situation was a bit odd.
- 31:46Speaker 1: The thing about it's like a child made it.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Yeah, that comment was fucked.
- 31:53Speaker 1: This is great so far. By the way, just the
- 31:55premise of like a blind person having someone live in
- 31:57their house is terrifying. I definitely felt I had flipped
- 32:00a switch with that question, because after that question, the
- 32:03way she talked to me changed. She was overly patient,
- 32:07overly calm, kept telling me to put on some music, distress,
- 32:10take a bath, listen to one of my audio books,
- 32:12and don't panic. I felt an ounce of heartbreak, just
- 32:16think my sister didn't believe me. But I moved on.
- 32:19After that, A few days passed when I kept saying alert,
- 32:23but nothing happened, no weird stuff. Everything had gone back
- 32:26to normal. Christmas came and I hosted, had friends and
- 32:30family over, and forgot about how lonely and desolate i'd
- 32:33felt in that house. Maybe I just had an episode
- 32:36of wandering, Maybe my mind had just been somewhere else
- 32:42when you live with the disability, sometimes it's hard to
- 32:44stay on track.
- 32:45Speaker 3: And to be fair, she was just going back and forth,
- 32:49like you could, you could make an argument for herself
- 32:51of being like I mean, I was counting my steps
- 32:54and it was crazy. Who knows, Maybe I just like
- 32:57had a weird you know what I mean, Like just.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Yeah, well, granted I'm not in her position, but I
- 33:02feel like a hundred steps, I would be like, Okay,
- 33:06Well That's.
- 33:07Speaker 2: What I mean though, is maybe she's like, maybe I
- 33:09did have like a fucking weird mental.
- 33:12Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Yeah, so what if my mental health had taken a hit?
- 33:16I was aware of it and decided to see a therapist.
- 33:19Months passed and nothing happened. I was happy. My new
- 33:23book had been published, and I hadn't felt scared or
- 33:26watched in ages. Things were good. One night, I was
- 33:30on the couch drinking some wine and watching The Bachelor.
- 33:34Well not exactly watching, but listening, you know what I mean.
- 33:37It's still entertaining. The AC was on and blasting waves
- 33:41of warmth around the house, and I was starting to
- 33:43feel sleepy. I reached out my leg out of the
- 33:46blanket and touched the floor. The cold floor. Reached my
- 33:50hand out and felt the couch cold too. Coldness was everywhere.
- 33:57How could it be? I had the AC on for
- 33:59the Holy evening? Why was it so cold? I reached
- 34:03for the remote, turned up the AC. It wasn't working.
- 34:07Speaker 3: Stupid fucking air conditioner. I'm gonna turn it off and on.
- 34:11Problems require modern solutions.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I told you. I talked to myself a lot. So
- 34:15I pressed the big button. The AC beeped. Hmmm, the
- 34:20beep was wrong. It should have been lower. It's higher
- 34:23when it turns on. Was it off this whole time?
- 34:28Couldn't be. I literally felt its warm breeze on the
- 34:30back of my neck. It's like a gut punch hunter.
- 34:46I'm scared.
- 34:49Speaker 4: I'm scaring. I'm a fling.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Oh wait, when did she say she felt it while
- 34:57she was on the couch.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it was just behind her, breathing, right behind her.
- 35:01Speaker 1: So I was like, oh my word, it like it's
- 35:06just like she's just watching TV and it's just there
- 35:08with her whole time, and it could be anything. It
- 35:11could be a monster.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I don't like that.
- 35:15Speaker 1: I wonder if, like we have to have some blind viewers,
- 35:18right well, listeners. I guess we have some some blind
- 35:22audience members, right, is this like? Is this like I
- 35:26guess it would be a recurring fear or a common
- 35:28fear about someone being in a room with you you
- 35:30don't know about, right, Yeah.
- 35:34Speaker 2: I mean there's that great movie called Hush.
- 35:38Speaker 3: I think it's about a blind woman in the house,
- 35:39and I mean, I don't know I would I would
- 35:42assume just somebody watching, you know, Hush is a deaf woman.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Oh deaf woman. Oh okay, yeah that that movie rules too.
- 35:49Speaker 3: But yeah, no, I think it's just the idea of
- 35:50someone being in your house you just don't know because
- 35:52you're just you're missing one of your senses and it
- 35:55just leaves you a little more vulnerable.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Yeah. I wonder if that's like a common thing, because
- 36:00now that I'm thinking about it, that would be I mean,
- 36:04obviously as someone who like isn't used to it and
- 36:07just like afraid from a distance, I feel like that
- 36:09would be like nightmare fuel story. I feel like stories
- 36:11like this would be like terrifying.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, even just home invasion stories, Like I
- 36:17know people who are super susceptible to just like home
- 36:19invasion stories and stuff.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Very real, weird thing.
- 36:23Speaker 1: But yeah, I stood there in silence, trying to process.
- 36:27It was as if I was just stalling, delaying the
- 36:30moment of realization because I didn't want to. I didn't
- 36:34want to admit someone or something. I've been breathing on
- 36:40my neck. It's probably still there, but the breeze had stopped.
- 36:46I turned the TV off. I needed absolute silence to focus,
- 36:50I said. Therefore, what felt like hours listening, the floors
- 36:56didn't creak. I could almost make out the carpet impressed steps.
- 37:04Normal people wouldn't have noticed, but I did. The steps
- 37:08were irregular, the pattern was weird, the pacing uncoordinated. I
- 37:15heard when it left the carpet, and the thump indicated
- 37:19it was right next to me. The couch shifted. I
- 37:27was over it. People hallucinate. I stuck my hand to
- 37:30the side, ready to feel whatever was there. I didn't
- 37:33get the chance. Suddenly the couch shifted back up and
- 37:36I heard a woosh. The thing had seen me try
- 37:38to reach and it moved. I didn't want me to
- 37:40touch it. Then I heard a click. My TV turned
- 37:43back on. Whatever it was, it was telling me to
- 37:46ignore it. Why I was not going to sit around
- 37:50and watch TV with that thing next to me. I
- 37:52was going upstairs after I counted the fourteen steps. For
- 37:56some reason, I knew the fifteenth would be there. Went
- 37:58back down, seven, went back up, nineteen, back down. I
- 38:02was twenty extra steps in and counting when I realized
- 38:05it was not going to end. Stairs were tweaking again.
- 38:10Turned around, went back up into the bedroom door locked.
- 38:12The TV is still running downstairs. After a while, I
- 38:15heard it turn off. Others would have been terrified. I
- 38:19was relieved. That meant the thing was downstairs and not
- 38:23here with me.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Wonderful. This is wonderful, bro, I'm having such a good time.
- 38:29Speaker 1: What a banger, dude. That whole segment about like from
- 38:34from the breath on the neck to like you could
- 38:37hear it on the carpet setting down on the couch.
- 38:40Like it's also just no fat, just it's very just
- 38:45like to the point to the point. Yeah, just bam,
- 38:48here's your story. Yeah, gosh, what a this is sick.
- 38:53You know you were right. We needed something after last week,
- 38:56and I think this is our medicine. I think this
- 38:57is doing a great job right now.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Part three. I'm down.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Part three, Let's go. Hows how's the milk doing?
- 39:04Speaker 3: Uh, you know what, It's one of those things where
- 39:06I feel like it's kind of bubbled back up my
- 39:07gutty works.
- 39:08Speaker 2: So I think, I'm okay, okay, I'm proud of you.
- 39:11Speaker 1: All right. Part three. I've decided to install some cameras
- 39:16around to be safe. Then you think peculiar happened. I
- 39:19wanted to have a friend check them out, or at
- 39:22least tell me I was being crazy. I set them
- 39:24up the next day after the incident, I posted earlier.
- 39:27After that, I kept minding my own business. I was terrified,
- 39:31and I know what you guys would say.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Why would you still stay there? Why were you? Why
- 39:35are you? Why were you so calm?
- 39:38Speaker 1: Well, there was this odd feeling I had. Something was
- 39:41definitely off, but somehow I was able to go through
- 39:44that be okay. Almost as if you're walking on a
- 39:48tightrope and you know that it's dangerous, but you don't
- 39:51want to hesitate or stop or even slow down, because
- 39:54you somehow feel that the less you think about it
- 39:57and go on, safer you are from fall. Although in
- 40:01my case, I didn't exactly know what my fate would be.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I think also, it's just it's hard to just be
- 40:08like oh, get up and move leave. But then also too,
- 40:12I think that earlier in the story does a good
- 40:14job even I think that she may be rationalizing that.
- 40:17It's like, I think that she believes she is in
- 40:21there was something now, but we have seen it back
- 40:23and forth with like questioning some of her actions or
- 40:26decisions or like even her own like, you know, can
- 40:29she trust herself as a narrator kind of thing.
- 40:32Speaker 1: The story has done, in my opinion, three things right
- 40:34now to not make me think of that option until
- 40:37she brought it up, because I feel like any other
- 40:39story you or I read, we would be like, why
- 40:43are you just get the fuck out house? Just drive away,
- 40:45get out right? But it's done three things For one,
- 40:47our characters blind, which limits options right, assuming this is
- 40:51out in the countryside, like she said, it's implausible for
- 40:54her to just start walking down the road, right she
- 40:57can't drive. And then the other thing is it's already
- 41:00pre established in the story that maybe part of this
- 41:03is her mind playing tricks on her, and her blindness
- 41:05causes her to have these moments of not really delirium,
- 41:08but she gets too caught up on one thing and
- 41:10doesn't realize what's happening around her. You know, her senses
- 41:12are impaired, So like, that's two good reasons to not
- 41:17immediately leave, because maybe she's over reacting, and even if
- 41:19she wasn't and how could she? Uh? And three, this
- 41:23writing has been doing so well and I've been so
- 41:26hooked in I didn't even consider that an option. Yeah,
- 41:29the story brought it up, which goes to show that
- 41:31a lot of your plot holes and like issues with stories,
- 41:34if you just write everything around it really well, most
- 41:37people won't care about.
- 41:38Speaker 2: True.
- 41:39Speaker 1: It was Thursday. I had just come home from my job.
- 41:42I also teach creative writing at a university. It's important
- 41:45that I write down my routine that day. So wait,
- 41:48how do you I guess she she's that out in
- 41:52the countryside, But I imagine there must be like public
- 41:54transport or something like.
- 41:55Speaker 2: That that I imagine. I just imagine that she just
- 41:57got a lift or something from someone else in her job.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I locked the door, got inside, locked it back, took
- 42:03my coat off and hung it up, took my shoes off,
- 42:06put my keys on a table, went upstairs, changed washed
- 42:09my hands, came back down to cook dinner, chopped, stirred,
- 42:13turned the Obanon set the table, worked my way around
- 42:16the stove, sat down and ate my dinner, washed the dishes,
- 42:19so on, then went upstairs bathroom, sent some text, went
- 42:23back downstairs and turned on the TV. After a while,
- 42:27I began dozing off. I could not keep up with
- 42:30whatever fight was going on on the show, and my
- 42:32mind began lazily sweeping away until a dream made its
- 42:36way in mixed with reality. I fell asleep. I awoke
- 42:41and was accreeted by silence. No eerie sounds, no movement, silence. Weird,
- 42:49hadn't I left the TV on?
- 42:51Speaker 3: Oh?
- 42:51Speaker 2: Okay?
- 42:52Speaker 1: I reached my hand out for the remote, which wasn't
- 42:55in the usual spot. The whole room was silent, so
- 42:58the thing was either very still. Where did left? I
- 43:03needed to call my friend and ask them to come
- 43:04over so I could have them check the cameras. The
- 43:07house remained silent for a while until I heard his
- 43:10car in the driveway. Good. I let him in and
- 43:13he asked me if he noticed anything unusual around.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Not really.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Ombed up my laptop and had him access to the footage.
- 43:22Speaker 3: Okay, let's see, so we're looking ato today, right, Yeah,
- 43:27I'll just down to the last twelve hours that should
- 43:29be enough, or the last six?
- 43:32Speaker 2: Just do twelve? Fine.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I heard the keyboard clacking for a bit, and then
- 43:35we waited until he said.
- 43:38Speaker 2: There it is. Hmmm, fast forward, nothing unusual, how's empty?
- 43:44Speaker 1: Here?
- 43:44Speaker 3: You are coming home from work, you're taking your coat off, shoes, keys,
- 43:48went upstairs? Nothing there, Fast forward here you are again?
- 43:54Back down, open the fridge.
- 43:58Speaker 1: He fell silent for a while. At first I figured
- 44:01he wasn't seeing anything, so he got tired of narrating
- 44:04what I was doing. I even't thought the thing might
- 44:06not even show on camera. I didn't need another person
- 44:09to think I was crazy. But then the cell has
- 44:11gone on for too long.
- 44:15Speaker 2: So what do you see? Are you fucking with me?
- 44:20Speaker 1: Or what? Look?
- 44:23Speaker 2: I'm really not in the mood, so please tell me
- 44:25if you're fucking with me, what did you see? Let's
- 44:28just go to my car.
- 44:29Speaker 3: I'll take your laptop with us and find and I'll
- 44:32tell him on some more footage and you'll be spending
- 44:34the night with me.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Why gosh, I'll tell you. I will. Just let's just
- 44:39go bro. Fuck good lord, dude, god, damn, that terrifying, terrifying.
- 45:00His voice was shaking a bit, and I knew he
- 45:03was trying to be calm, but his movements were too rushed,
- 45:06too unhinged. He was freaking out. Put my coat on,
- 45:09took my wallet and keys, and we left. Got inside
- 45:12the car. He immediately turned the engine on and hit
- 45:14the gas without saying a word. What did you see?
- 45:17Just tell me just you're freaking me out.
- 45:19Speaker 3: I'm really sorry for you and what you've had to
- 45:21go through. That is some paranormal activity. Shit, what did
- 45:25you say? Okay, I'm uh so you opened the fridge,
- 45:31took out some stuff, then that started preparing dinner. I
- 45:34saw some moving upstairs, so like in the corner of
- 45:37the screen. Then uh, this fuck.
- 45:40Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know how to explain it.
- 45:42Speaker 1: It was a it was a thing. It was like
- 45:44it was so fucking creepy.
- 45:45Speaker 3: It looked like a looked like you, but but not really,
- 45:48because it was longer arms and legs, and had a
- 45:51very bony face wearing some clothes. I assume yours soul
- 45:55was human. No, I don't think so. It's it's arms
- 45:59bent so weirdly. It was taller than you, and and it.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Walked Fuck what the fuck?
- 46:04Speaker 3: It walked so strange and acted so strange, and it
- 46:07had this hair thin and falling off, and the face.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Face.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it's eyes were really big. But that was, without
- 46:17a doubt, the scariest shit I've ever seen, and fixated
- 46:19on you the whole time.
- 46:22Speaker 1: What was it doing.
- 46:25Speaker 3: This is gonna sound crazy, but I think it was
- 46:28mimicking you. It literally watched you NonStop. And the shit
- 46:33that freaks me out the most is that it was
- 46:35in front of you the whole time. Well, you cut
- 46:38the vegetables while you ate, while you were watching TV.
- 46:41He's studying you, poorly, mimicking what you were doing. Then
- 46:46you fell asleep. Yeah, watched it whole time, took its
- 46:52bony finger at some point pressed the pressed the off
- 46:56button on the remote. It's face literally sat like two
- 46:59inches from you for a while, just scared until you
- 47:03woke up. Then walked I don't know if I can
- 47:06call it walked upstairs.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Wow. Wow, fuck, fuck my god. It's just right in front,
- 47:20like a giant spider watching, just a giant you spider.
- 47:24Speaker 2: Also just so weird too, like wearing your clothes. It
- 47:28just like wants to be you, staring at you.
- 47:31Speaker 1: It wears your clothes, It makes your bed for you,
- 47:34turns the TV off for you, breathe on the back
- 47:37of your neck. After you finished talking, he sat in
- 47:40silence for a while. I didn't know what to say.
- 47:43He parked his car and we went up to his
- 47:45apartment sat down to download the rest of the footage
- 47:49for Fox Sike.
- 47:51Speaker 3: What will I swear to god, he's been watching NonStop,
- 47:55Like I've downloaded the footage since the cameras were set up.
- 47:59So there's two months ago, and it's it's here all
- 48:02the time. Sometimes it climbs up to the corner of
- 48:05your wall or on the ceiling and watches. Other times
- 48:08it shadows you.
- 48:10Speaker 1: M I felt sick all this time when I thought
- 48:16I was alone and.
- 48:17Speaker 2: This isn't even the weirdest thing. Two months ago, it
- 48:21didn't have hair.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Oh my god, mons ago.
- 48:30Speaker 2: It didn't have hair. I think the hairs is not
- 48:33its own.
- 48:34Speaker 3: What I think it got it from somewhere, like things
- 48:38to be picking out your hair while you're sleeping.
- 48:41Speaker 2: It's trying to become human, to become you.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Oh god, fuck, I'm back to paranoid Isaiah. I've got
- 48:53the door open. I'm like, yeah, I know, I'm at
- 48:56the right monitor.
- 48:57Speaker 3: There's gonna be some gangly giraffe bastard in your after
- 49:00and picking out all the hair from your fucking drain up.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, dude. Oh it gives me chills, man,
- 49:12just the idea of it being like right behind you
- 49:14all the time, it being up in the corners, like
- 49:17looking down at you. Oh, even the.
- 49:19Speaker 3: Moments when you're not there. It takes your things, tries
- 49:24them out. It looks fucking terrifying. It is literally learning
- 49:28studying you.
- 49:29Speaker 1: I knew for some reason, and I didn't even need proof.
- 49:33I just knew it had to come from the stairs,
- 49:35climbed up from whatever portal I've been there. I knew
- 49:38it was trying to lure me down there so it
- 49:39could take my place, so it could become me. I
- 49:45explained everything to my friend. There was nothing I could
- 49:48do except get out. I didn't know how to close
- 49:51the portal, and I needed my friend's help if I
- 49:53wanted to try. I was trying to evaluate my risk,
- 49:56my options, and my friends had something that made my
- 49:58blood run cold.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Look, if you don't grow through that portal stuff, it'll
- 50:03probably just kill you and take your place, and the
- 50:06next time you return home you will have figured that out.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so the only logical solution is to never go
- 50:12home and fire bomb in the house. Yeah.
- 50:14Speaker 2: So basically he's just saying, if you go back, you're
- 50:16gonna die.
- 50:17Speaker 1: If you go back, this thing is certainly going to
- 50:20kill you. Yeah, there's no question. All right, are you
- 50:25ready for the final part?
- 50:26Speaker 2: Oh boy, I'm ready.
- 50:28Speaker 1: How are we doing? Milk boy? You ready to do it?
- 50:30Speaker 2: I am so stoked. I can't wait to have a
- 50:32diarrhea after this.
- 50:33Speaker 1: It's gonna be awesome, isn't it. And then while you're
- 50:35doing it, you can think about a hunter, a spider
- 50:38hunter right behind you.
- 50:40Speaker 2: Yeah, a gangly spider hunter who's.
- 50:42Speaker 1: Learning how to have diarrhea.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Yeah, he's like taking all of his sour milk and
- 50:47drinking it profusely, and he's just like, oh, up in
- 50:50the corner. Oh no, I'm like.
- 50:54Speaker 1: First time bud. Yeah, hunter just makes friends with it.
- 50:59Yeah all right, but its more sour milk, this big
- 51:03nasty cicada person.
- 51:11Speaker 2: I'm like fucking pussy drink.
- 51:17Speaker 1: All right, last public part. I'm stoked.
- 51:20Speaker 3: Uh. If you guys haven't noticed yet, you should one
- 51:23hundred percent sign up for this coffee and read more
- 51:25of this story.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Yeah, person great, I think Emma Watson, but Dummer has
- 51:30proven herself quite well if I didn't say so myself.
- 51:33Speaker 2: Very stoked. Last part. I'm ready, let's go.
- 51:37Speaker 1: My sister knew now that I wasn't crazy anymore. Everyone
- 51:40had seen the footage. It's become some sort of news
- 51:43around my family friends. They were all dying to watch it,
- 51:46so more of curiosity making them want to see what
- 51:48traumatized me for the past months. I was grateful they
- 51:51saw it too, But at the same time I had
- 51:53to move out and sell the house and that was
- 51:55a bummer. Sells a strong word I would have. Has
- 51:59no one called acted the news yet?
- 52:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, is there a thing here?
- 52:03Speaker 3: I guess just it's like a well, I mean, we
- 52:05don't have to derail the story too much, but like,
- 52:08would you just I mean, could you even show this
- 52:09to the authorities or would it be just something where
- 52:11they're just like you should just burn the house down
- 52:13or like.
- 52:14Speaker 1: You know what I mean. I don't know if that'd
- 52:16be legal advice, but I think, uh that that's what
- 52:19I would come to. That's a decision. I feel like
- 52:21there's no regard you could show the police and they
- 52:24would believe it. It just be like, Okay, that's all right,
- 52:27thank you for that. Yeah. I was struggling financially, and
- 52:30I knew I couldn't just buy another house. I just
- 52:32saw this one first, and that obviously meant I had
- 52:34to go back there and get my things. I was
- 52:37not planning to go alone though, or not, so, I mean,
- 52:39maybe it's his things.
- 52:40Speaker 2: I think I can just like get a new TV.
- 52:42I think that's fine.
- 52:43Speaker 1: I'm only going back if I have like a swat team,
- 52:48you know, if I if I can walk in with
- 52:50Seal Team six around me. You know. Well, here's the thing, right,
- 52:56she assumes that it is a thing that this house
- 53:00because of the staircase and because it showed up when
- 53:02she got there, right, But like, could this thing be anywhere?
- 53:07Why does it have to be part of the house? Right?
- 53:10Speaker 2: I am still like, you're assuming that there's one, you know.
- 53:14Speaker 1: How do we know? Though I didn't even you know,
- 53:17I don't know way more. It could be like a
- 53:19nest of them.
- 53:19Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. It's like some weird fucking bug family.
- 53:22I don't know.
- 53:25Speaker 1: Ah, that'd be sick, would you? What would it take?
- 53:28For you to go back into the house.
- 53:33Speaker 3: I think that like to like, I think it would
- 53:36be to go back and help somebody, like if it's
- 53:38if it's like, oh, my wife's stuck in there or something. Yeah,
- 53:42you know like that, although I really don't know of
- 53:44earthly possessions were.
- 53:47Speaker 1: You would be like, yeah, I can't think of anything
- 53:48I own that would make me go back. What about
- 53:50a pet? Would you go back for a pet? Yeah?
- 53:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd go back for my dog.
- 53:56Speaker 1: I don't know how many guys would you bring with you?
- 54:00Speaker 2: God, I Jimmy, Gimmy fucked up.
- 54:02Speaker 3: As it would be something more like I'd be like, hey,
- 54:04you help me move something, and I'd like I'd go
- 54:06in and I'd shut the door. I'd hear the rustling,
- 54:10and then I just make a dead sprint for my
- 54:11beagle and I would leave.
- 54:13Speaker 1: My bass and had not leave, and I'm like pressed
- 54:15up against someone like yeah, you can see like pulling
- 54:20the hair out of my head, Like.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Yeah, you're like, well, yeah, giant lips kissing the window.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Okay, all right, Yeah you would be the one that,
- 54:31as I'm being torn apart, would be like, ah, yeah's
- 54:34big lips is It's funny. It would look like its
- 54:38face would be your drawing of me.
- 54:41Speaker 2: That's perfect.
- 54:42Speaker 1: That would be its.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Head, that's perfect.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Well, it's a it's a beautiful representation. So you you
- 54:47should be happy, Okay that you said when I said
- 54:51I die, you said, that's what I get for. What
- 54:53what were you about to say? Oh?
- 54:55Speaker 2: I can't remember.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Okay, I'm sure it was something.
- 54:58Speaker 2: My My asshole is.
- 55:00Speaker 3: Like Alcatraz right now, and a few, a few little
- 55:03prisoners are about to escape if you can't make.
- 55:04Speaker 1: I wonder, I wonder how much longer if I keep
- 55:09rambling until I desperately want you just to read? So
- 55:13what if I did it? Though? It took a while
- 55:16to try to convince my friend to come with me.
- 55:19He was really scared, but I had to get it'll
- 55:21be even longer, it would be all right. It took
- 55:26a while to try to convince my friend to come
- 55:28with me. He was really scared, but I had to
- 55:30get my stuff out, and that man spent in a
- 55:32few more nights there. Why why would you do that? Anyway,
- 55:36So last month me and my friend went back to
- 55:39the house, just one friend by the way, unarmed. I
- 55:41imagine as soon as we entered, he let out a sigh.
- 55:44I asked what was wrong, and he just replied.
- 55:46Speaker 3: With he's been making some changes around here. What changes, Well,
- 55:52took food out of your fridge. Your clothes are torn.
- 55:55I think it's even slept in your bed. It's not
- 55:58gonna like you being back.
- 56:00Speaker 2: I love that's funny. I'm going I'm gonna assure that
- 56:03thing that I'm not saying.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel there's that weird language here and stuff
- 56:08like that. Maybe the maybe English is the second language.
- 56:11I don't know. I'm gonna assure that thing that I'm
- 56:14not staying, like, I'm gonna make sure it knows that
- 56:16I'm not sticking around. This is its house.
- 56:18Speaker 2: I'm okay, I'm gonna sure. I'm gonna sure that thing
- 56:21that I'm not staying. I'll leave you.
- 56:22Speaker 3: I'll leave my fuck. I'll leave soon enough, and i'll
- 56:26be free to and it'll be free to torment whoever
- 56:30comes your next. I fucking hate my life, right I
- 56:34hope you guys are reading the screen because I'm like
- 56:35a nonsensical, fucking schizophrenic right now reading the ship.
- 56:40Speaker 1: God.
- 56:41Speaker 2: I hate I hate myself. I hate my fucking ape brain.
- 56:47Speaker 1: How's that how's that milk doing, buddy? It's not good.
- 56:50Speaker 3: Not good.
- 56:51Speaker 1: So we started packing and cleaning. It's a bit harder
- 56:54for me, and we called for backup my other friend Jessica.
- 56:59She refused to with that her boyfriend. Now, the four
- 57:02of us versus that thing meant it would be too
- 57:04scared to do anything. Yeah, you hope that math?
- 57:08Speaker 2: Where are you getting that math from?
- 57:10Speaker 1: I didn't know much about it, but from its behavior
- 57:13I learned it mainly focused on me, and when it's
- 57:15transformation be complete, you would try to take over my
- 57:18life and send me to the other place down the stairs.
- 57:22We worked on it for a few days and what
- 57:25we'd left was just some furniture to be moved. I
- 57:28was extremely grateful for my friend Support, who, like my sister,
- 57:31believe me, from the beginning, we had so little to do,
- 57:35left just some furniture. As I said, so little. I
- 57:39hadn't expected it to end like this. It was me,
- 57:43my friend the one who saw the footage first, call
- 57:45him Adam, my sister Lisa. They were downstairs wrapping up
- 57:50the TV and I was upstairs lifting up the mattress.
- 57:53I could hear their voices downstairs.
- 57:56Speaker 5: Yeah, like that wait, no, hold it, hold it, hold it.
- 58:00You're literally you're not holding it's so heavy. Okay, now
- 58:04help me up with the wrapper. Yeah, he drums it
- 58:07on my foot. Please just be careful. Bring me the scissors.
- 58:10I'm thinking I'll just cut this tape up like this.
- 58:13Speaker 1: I'd mostly ask them to speak more, just so I
- 58:15wouldn't listen to the silence. Silence for me met danger.
- 58:20After a while, they stopped talking. I go I could
- 58:26only hear the sound of footsteps and things being dragged around.
- 58:30Speaker 2: Fuck Lisa, Lisa eh adam, no answer, guys.
- 58:39Speaker 1: My heart dropped. I made my way downstairs. It's ubconsciously
- 58:43counted the steps sixteen whatever Lisa Adam, no answer. Feeling
- 58:52around the house was empty. No one was in the
- 58:55living room, no one was in the kitchen, just boxes
- 58:59and clothes. I sat on the couch, listening, hoping to
- 59:03hear some footsteps, but I was only greeted by silence
- 59:07so heavy, almost a being of its own. I had
- 59:12the urge to leave made my way to the front door,
- 59:15but just as I was about to turn the door knob,
- 59:18something this feeling stopped me. I turned around and pressed
- 59:23my back on the door feeling the phone in my pocket.
- 59:27Speaker 2: Hey, Siri, call Lisa.
- 59:30Speaker 1: She picked up.
- 59:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Will, is that you?
- 59:35Speaker 4: Yes?
- 59:35Speaker 2: Where are you?
- 59:36Speaker 4: Where are you?
- 59:37Speaker 2: Lisa? Where's Adam? Why would you leave like this? You
- 59:41know you shouldn't leave me here alone?
- 59:43Speaker 4: What do you mean?
- 59:45Speaker 1: Where are you in the living room?
- 59:48Speaker 4: Will?
- 59:48Speaker 2: Where are you in the goddamn living room? There's no
- 59:52one here.
- 59:55Speaker 4: I don't understand you came on the stairs or you're
- 59:58now sitting on the couch looking at me. Who's calling
- 1:00:03me from your phone?
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: It's me, Lisa, it's me. I'm telling you I'm in
- 1:00:07the living room.
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: Then who's sitting on the couch If it's not you?
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: The moment of realization hit both of us. Gradually. I
- 1:00:18knew who was on the couch or what was on
- 1:00:20the couch, and I knew that wherever I was, that
- 1:00:23wasn't my house anymore. I'd finally managed to go down
- 1:00:26to the other place, and the thing had come back up,
- 1:00:29but this time with a more efficient disguise.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Listen to me, Lisa, that is not me. I need
- 1:00:36you to leave the house. Take Adam with you, Please,
- 1:00:39just get out.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Suddenly she said something that shocked me.
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: How do I know.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: How do you know what, But it's not you on the.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Couch, it's the thing just sort of staring at you. Yeah, well,
- 1:00:55move around a bit. It knows I'm blind, so we'll
- 1:00:58pretend if it's blind too. If you do something unexpected
- 1:01:01and it follows you with its eyes, you'll know.
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: I didn't hear much next, just movement. Then I could
- 1:01:08hear her say, oh.
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: My gosh, true, what would you know? Well, I'm scared.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: I don't think it'll hurt you. Just don't let it know.
- 1:01:15You know, it's not me, wouldn't they wouldn't it know
- 1:01:18already if on the phone call is right?
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: Okay, I'll just go back upstairs and I hope I
- 1:01:23can somehow make it out anything he understands.
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: What we're saying.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: I don't know, because if it does, then it also
- 1:01:31knows it. No that it also knows it.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: No, jess, No, then it also knows it. No. I
- 1:01:36felt helpless for the first time in my life. I
- 1:01:39wish I could see so badly. I just wanted to
- 1:01:41get out of whatever this place was, back to my
- 1:01:44real house, but I could not find the staircase. I
- 1:01:47was stuck. What if I wasn't going to make it
- 1:01:50out of this place.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: Please stay on the phone with me.
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: Okay, Adam, come here. No what he talked of the thing?
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: What was you?
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: And what's going on?
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: Adam? Here? Take the phone.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: I heard Adam's voice.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Yeah, Adam, listen, this is me. This is Will. I'm
- 1:02:11stuck in this place that if there's not me, Please
- 1:02:15don't talk to it. Don't let it know. You know
- 1:02:17it's a copy.
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: What Will is that? You? Are you serious? Shut up?
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Shut up?
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: Well, buddy, don't touch me. Stay there, freak. I need
- 1:02:27to call the police.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: Don't call the police. If it knows you don't believe
- 1:02:30it's an illusion. I don't know what it will do.
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: Lisa, take this, I'll call the police. I'm tired of
- 1:02:36the shit.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: I heard some muffled voices and then Lisa again.
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: Maybe it's good that he's calling the police. Right. Maybe
- 1:02:42the thing doesn't understand we know it's not real.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: She stopped.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Don't act scared of it, Lisa, act normal.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: I'm trying, but it just stood up. Now.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Please, I don't know what I can do.
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: It's walking towards me. I'm just scared. What the fuck?
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: What? I listened as her voice changed from confusion, to discuss,
- 1:03:03to fear, to terror?
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: What Lisa adam?
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: I couldn't make out what she was saying. At some
- 1:03:09point I thought I heard Adam. I was still desperate
- 1:03:12to feel around for that staircase. I heard a thud
- 1:03:15meaning she dropped the phone, and some screams, then muffled crying,
- 1:03:19and some sounds I could not make out. At this point,
- 1:03:22my whole body was tensed up and my heart was
- 1:03:24beating so hard I was about to faint. The more
- 1:03:27noises I heard, the more I was convinced something sinister
- 1:03:30had happened. And as much as I tried to deny it,
- 1:03:33I knew I had no chance but to listen to
- 1:03:36this scene through the phone, unable to help. And even
- 1:03:39if I'd been able to get out of this place,
- 1:03:41I couldn't see anything either. At some point, after I'd
- 1:03:44screamed my lungs out, my face drenched in sweat and tears,
- 1:03:49the noise stopped and the silence remained. The silence I
- 1:03:53hate silence. I kept wailing, hoping someone would respond. It
- 1:03:58could have been hours until I got to respond, but
- 1:04:00not the one I hoped I would get. I heard
- 1:04:03some harsh movement and then this horse rotten voice that
- 1:04:07wasn't even a voice, but something like an animal trying
- 1:04:10to mimic a human.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Just sleep.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: For some it would have been comical, but I knew
- 1:04:20that was just one of the phrases I used to say.
- 1:04:23It had just mimicking me again, bring me le I
- 1:04:34listened petrified. Meanwhile, my foot hit something stairs. Was it
- 1:04:41letting me go? I climbed up the stairs and found
- 1:04:44myself in the hallway. I could feel the familiar carpet
- 1:04:47under my feet. I went downstairs and sense the smell
- 1:04:50that I couldn't identify. The floor was slippery. Lisa, Adam,
- 1:04:57I heard something run up the stairs just like that.
- 1:05:00I knew the thing had left for now, but my
- 1:05:03mind wasn't on the creature, but on Adam and Lisa,
- 1:05:06guys walking around to the slippery floor. My foot hit something.
- 1:05:11It felt like hair. Nothing in the world could describe
- 1:05:16how I felt in that moment. There's nothing I can
- 1:05:18type down here which will help you visualize, because not
- 1:05:21everything feels like something else. There's no analogy I can make.
- 1:05:26When you discover a crime scene, you usually see it first.
- 1:05:29I had it. I've just been walking around the bodies
- 1:05:32clueless for a good few minutes. You know how it
- 1:05:34feels to not know if something is blood until you
- 1:05:36slip on it. To have to see if someone is
- 1:05:38alive by desperately feeling around her to find their hand,
- 1:05:42neck pulse. Just crawl around in their blood, running your
- 1:05:46hands through the mess, trying desperately to see any signs
- 1:05:49of life, calling out their name. I heard the door open.
- 1:05:53I realized the police had come. Adam had probably called them,
- 1:05:57and they had finally managed to make an appearance. They
- 1:06:00found me, obviously covered in their blood next to them.
- 1:06:04I didn't even know what the creature had actually done
- 1:06:06to them. No matter how hard I tried, they would
- 1:06:09not listen to me. They thought I was crazy. The
- 1:06:13next following days were a blur. Luckily I had the
- 1:06:15footage of the things from the past months and the
- 1:06:17testimony of my remaining friends and family, plus Adam's call
- 1:06:20that clearly said something is pretending to be my friend
- 1:06:23and it may hurt us. They had downloaded the footage
- 1:06:26of the actual murder, but they refused to describe it
- 1:06:29to me. They just asked me to rest. But I
- 1:06:33can't because no matter what, I won't revenge. I'm determined
- 1:06:36to find out the story of this thing, the story
- 1:06:39of this house and it's weird portal staircase, and I
- 1:06:42want to kill this creature, even if it's the last
- 1:06:45thing I do. For now, this is my final update.
- 1:06:49Most might post more on my account depending on what
- 1:06:51I come across. For now, I need rest. I've begun
- 1:06:54seeing a therapist and I'm recovering. I still get nightmares.
- 1:06:59I wonder what I've could have done better, But the
- 1:07:01truth is, I think I was doing from the beginning.
- 1:07:04From the moment I counted one extra step on my staircase,
- 1:07:07the nightmare had begun, and that is the story, and
- 1:07:13that is the story. That was good. I enjoyed it. Yeah,
- 1:07:16the tension was really well done. Yeah, I feel like
- 1:07:20I feel like she is not justified for going back
- 1:07:22to the house, and I think she's reckly responsible for
- 1:07:24her friend's death. Yeah.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: I think that the only part where the story kind
- 1:07:29of SUPs up for me is that kind of rationalization
- 1:07:31of I think that the monster should have left the house,
- 1:07:33like it gathered enough and it should have been trying
- 1:07:35to find her or something going baying and like putting
- 1:07:39people in that predicament is is a bit silly.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that was a bit too much. I also feel
- 1:07:45like I am glad it didn't do the thing I
- 1:07:47thought it was going to do, where it's like I
- 1:07:48am now in jail for my friend's murder. But it
- 1:07:51was like, you know, the police like saw the footage
- 1:07:54and then they were like, uh, you should go home.
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I think, uh, I don't know. I kind of
- 1:08:01wish we'd never even went to that angle. I kind
- 1:08:03of almost just be trapped in the house and now
- 1:08:06she's just kind of riding there forever, but she can't
- 1:08:08leave the aspect, I'm not really totally sold on either
- 1:08:12kind of wish that it's like this if it was
- 1:08:14this thing's house. Because also I made this connection earlier
- 1:08:17of when she's like, so I bought this new house
- 1:08:19and people said it's a mansion, where I was like,
- 1:08:21what the fuck? You know, like, you're an author and
- 1:08:23you're getting this mansion. But it's like, if it's this
- 1:08:26weird place that people have like they don't want to buy,
- 1:08:28or it has some weird history that she doesn't know about.
- 1:08:31Of course, this large house might be super cheap, but
- 1:08:34if the thing is living inside of it trying to
- 1:08:36like mimic somebody, you know.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: Maybe it's like something where it.
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: Like opens up a door and like the staircase is
- 1:08:41extended down into some weird cellar.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: That's what my mind was, that there's like a house
- 1:08:46underneath the house and they switch. It's like mirrored. Yeah.
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: But that being said, I don't think that the ending
- 1:08:52completely didn't just like trip and stumble. I still think
- 1:08:54it landed it albeit a bit shaky, But I love
- 1:08:57the idea of like just like taking an element of.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: Someone being blind and throwing like a home invasion twist
- 1:09:05into that.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I just honestly think that that segment where she's sitting
- 1:09:09on the couch watching The Bachelor and she goes from
- 1:09:11turning on the a s to feeling it set down
- 1:09:13as like an all time moment like.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: That, Yeah, one of the strongest creepy moments. It felt.
- 1:09:18It felt similar to uh like in pin Pal, we're
- 1:09:21on the river and like the person's on the outside
- 1:09:23watching him like real running through.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Is that your favorite moments? Is that your favorite moment
- 1:09:27from any story we've covered, Which moment the pin Pal
- 1:09:32river moment? That might be?
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember that one being the creepy.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: It just the way it was described, and even with
- 1:09:37the woman in the house and the old woman that
- 1:09:39he used to be friends with, it was just it
- 1:09:41was really nice that one. And also the whenever the
- 1:09:43thing was like living under the the the like under
- 1:09:47the what is it the porch or whatever the thought
- 1:09:50that was great too.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know, this story was awesome.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: I think that I really liked that it was short, sweet,
- 1:09:58and not tons of fat a like I said, all
- 1:10:00albeit it seems like trying to explain this like weird
- 1:10:03portal thing or how they came across that is kind
- 1:10:06of like it. It's a little it's a little uh
- 1:10:10doesn't stick landing precisely to you know when I'm saying.
- 1:10:13But I'm just being you know, just trying to, I guess,
- 1:10:17justify the thoughts I'm having that are running through my
- 1:10:19head right now.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: But I'm also diarrhea ridden, so you are, So we'll
- 1:10:23go ahead and get over it. I will say one
- 1:10:25last time that you could check out Helena, oh please
- 1:10:27don't buy me a coffee, coffee whatever, and you can
- 1:10:30buy more parts to this very story. So that's a

- 1:11:00a lot of fun.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I had a lot tons of fun, and just
- 1:11:03appreciate how to the point it was.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: It doesn't linger or anything like that.
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: It's really to the point, and it delivers the scares
- 1:11:11in a fun way, very elegant, and how it's written
- 1:11:13so all in all fucking amazing. We appreciate you, and
