- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with on our radio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey everyone, welcome back to the almost Famous podcast. I
- 0:08Speaker 2: am flying solo today. You'll get the pun in a second.
- 0:14Speaker 2: So I am here with pilot Pete. So I guess
- 0:17Speaker 2: I'm not flying solo. You are my co captain.
- 0:20Speaker 3: I'm your copilot.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Let's do it, Peter, are you Are you captain yet
- 0:25Speaker 2: or are you co captain?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Still? No, I'm still first officer. So I am three stripes.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Hopefully in the near future. I'd say, like maybe the
- 0:34Speaker 3: next two to three years. I probably plan on trying
- 0:37Speaker 3: to put my upgrade in and then that's all dependent
- 0:39Speaker 3: on it. There's open positions like in la Is where
- 0:42Speaker 3: I probably want to stay. So uh yeah, two the
- 0:44Speaker 3: three year mark is kind of what I have.
- 0:46Speaker 2: My site said on has all the shows that you've
- 0:50Speaker 2: done over the past couple of years kind of put
- 0:53Speaker 2: you back in your career.
- 0:54Speaker 3: No, no, So it's what's really nice about the airline
- 0:57Speaker 3: industry is everything's predicated office seniority. So the day I
- 1:00Speaker 3: was hired, like and since I was hired May twenty fifth,
- 1:03Speaker 3: twenty twenty one, so that date will follow me my
- 1:05Speaker 3: entire career. Until I turned sixty five and I have
- 1:08Speaker 3: to retire, and then so I can. Essentially, you can
- 1:13Speaker 3: pick up a full schedule, you can pick up overtime
- 1:15Speaker 3: if it's within your far limits, or I can drop trips,
- 1:19Speaker 3: but that doesn't have any bearing on career progression. All
- 1:22Speaker 3: that matters is your seniority number, and if it's senior
- 1:24Speaker 3: enough to take an open position, you can get it.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Okay, that's great. I'm glad that you've been literally able
- 1:31Speaker 2: to become a reality star on so many different platforms.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Now we're going to talk about your new show, Destination
- 1:39Speaker 2: X in a minute. It's on NBC and it's hosted
- 1:41Speaker 2: by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, which is really really cool. But
- 1:45Speaker 2: first we have we have some juicy stuff. So we
- 1:49Speaker 2: recently had Rachel Rekia, a fellow pilot, on our podcast
- 1:54Speaker 2: and the question was, if you can go on any
- 1:56Speaker 2: Bachelor's season that wasn't the one that you came from Clayton,
- 2:01Speaker 2: what would your choice be? And let's roll the audio anyway.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I'll start.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I would be on Peter Webber season because he's sexy
- 2:13Speaker 3: and we're both pilots. Let's Rachel, you know it's funny.
- 2:19Speaker 3: I heard something about that. That's that's cool. Well, I
- 2:22Speaker 3: appreciate that. It's very sweet of her to say so,
- 2:24Speaker 3: because you.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Guys have that in common and you do follow each
- 2:27Speaker 2: other on Instagram. Have you gotten back and forth at
- 2:29Speaker 2: all about that.
- 2:31Speaker 3: No, We've never had like a discussion like that. The
- 2:34Speaker 3: only I've only we only hung out like a handful
- 2:36Speaker 3: of times in person. I think the last time I
- 2:39Speaker 3: saw Rachel was I want to say it was in
- 2:42Speaker 3: Miami for our babble. I think it was our buzzle.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I saw her out there, but uh, yeah, we gotta
- 2:49Speaker 3: we gotta connect out in LA. I think she's still
- 2:51Speaker 3: flying her. She kind of like.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Put that, I think she still flies.
- 2:56Speaker 3: She is okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 2: So when you guys have I've seen each other in
- 3:00Speaker 2: real life, like, has she called you sexy?
- 3:05Speaker 3: No? To be honest, no, all that stayed very very platonic.
- 3:09Speaker 3: I think it's. Yeah, that's not to start any rumor.
- 3:12Speaker 3: That's all been very very platonic. But I do appreciate that.
- 3:14Speaker 3: It's very sweet to say.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I do feel like you could be asked by ABC
- 3:21Speaker 2: The Bachelor again to be Bachelor, because you know, in
- 3:26Speaker 2: recent history, I think that you and Joey have been
- 3:29Speaker 2: the ones that have garnered the most attention. And Joey
- 3:33Speaker 2: seems I think he's going to make it down the
- 3:35Speaker 2: aisle with Kelsey and you are still single. So what
- 3:41Speaker 2: would you think if they were to come to you
- 3:42Speaker 2: again this is like five years removed.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Well, of course would come out here. I actually am
- 3:48Speaker 3: not single anymore, so.
- 3:52Speaker 2: We're bringing Yes, this.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Is uh, I guess kind of yeah, this is very
- 3:57Speaker 3: very very new, like blessing right now. You know, I
- 4:00Speaker 3: love it. Yeah, I mean to be very honest and like,
- 4:05Speaker 3: I'm really blessing right now. Oh my god. Yeah, it's
- 4:08Speaker 3: very very new, very very fresh. Obviously gonna you know,
- 4:12Speaker 3: want to keep it very private, and you know, kind
- 4:14Speaker 3: of figured we probably get into a little bit of that,
- 4:16Speaker 3: but put any like, yeah, rumors, I guess aside for
- 4:19Speaker 3: any any bachelor type comeback. Hopefully there is never the
- 4:23Speaker 3: need for that, because I'm very excited and I am
- 4:26Speaker 3: very hopeful. So, oh my god, we will see what happens.
- 4:29Speaker 2: You just moved back to LA. Did this girl have
- 4:31Speaker 2: anything to do with the move?
- 4:33Speaker 3: No? No, And it's so funny because I literally so
- 4:37Speaker 3: I was in New York for the last like four
- 4:40Speaker 3: years and I, you know, Kelly and I had gone
- 4:44Speaker 3: back on on and off a little bit during that time,
- 4:47Speaker 3: but majority of it was all single, and you know,
- 4:49Speaker 3: I always wanted a relationship with It's no no secret obviously,
- 4:52Speaker 3: but you know it's never going to be someone of
- 4:53Speaker 3: course anything. But all my friends, they were so funny.
- 4:55Speaker 3: It was they were like all predicting when I was
- 4:57Speaker 3: going to come back to La, Like, dude, the second
- 4:59Speaker 3: you get back, you're it is kind of like we
- 5:01Speaker 3: just know you're going to find someone, You're gonna settle
- 5:03Speaker 3: down and it's just all gonna work. And I was like,
- 5:04Speaker 3: I would love that, that would be great, and they
- 5:06Speaker 3: were spot on. They were spot only literally the first day.
- 5:11Speaker 3: The first day, Yeah, first day's not crazy.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Okay, so I'm assuming it wasn't an apupdate then, No, No, it.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Was in person. It was a beautiful old fashioned meet up.
- 5:28Speaker 3: And yeah, I I really like I would I don't
- 5:32Speaker 3: want to, like just because it's like so new and
- 5:34Speaker 3: everything kind of just like keep it more private. But yeah,
- 5:37Speaker 3: definitely really excited. And it's funny how my friends really
- 5:39Speaker 3: predicted it and they all called it and who would
- 5:41Speaker 3: have thought. Literally the first day but kind of funny
- 5:43Speaker 3: how life works out that way.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Can you at least tell us where you met her, Like,
- 5:47Speaker 2: was this like a cute a meet cute at a
- 5:50Speaker 2: coffee shop or something?
- 5:53Speaker 3: It was not that we met. It was actually on
- 5:55Speaker 3: a on a trip on a well a trip in
- 5:59Speaker 3: l a kind of thing.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, all right, well we'll let you have your
- 6:03Speaker 2: privacy now a little a little bit. And maybe that
- 6:09Speaker 2: makes sense as to why Kelly recently said when you
- 6:11Speaker 2: guys saw each other at Coachella that you said that
- 6:15Speaker 2: she was like this sister that you never had.
- 6:19Speaker 3: I'm I meant that in the most endearing way, like true, true,
- 6:26Speaker 3: and sure, I mean, what are you gonna do now?
- 6:28Speaker 3: I can't take it back, But truly it was, and
- 6:31Speaker 3: she knows that, like I've seen her since and everything
- 6:33Speaker 3: like it. It was the most endearing I was trying
- 6:36Speaker 3: to make as a compliment. It was, you know, obviously
- 6:39Speaker 3: have so much respect for her and obviously love for
- 6:42Speaker 3: her that you know will never go away like that,
- 6:43Speaker 3: and yeah, we just you know, I try. It wasn't
- 6:47Speaker 3: for a shortage of try and write. And you know,
- 6:49Speaker 3: sometimes people work relationship, why sometimes they don't. Sometimes it's
- 6:53Speaker 3: just friends. And I guess if you want to look
- 6:55Speaker 3: at it a weird way, you can misconstrue it. But
- 6:57Speaker 3: it was not anything like that. I was just trying
- 6:59Speaker 3: to it was trying to be in here in comment.
- 7:01Speaker 2: And I say this thinking that you and Kelly that
- 7:03Speaker 2: truly have a friendship beneath all the romance. Like I
- 7:08Speaker 2: think that you really have that foundation. So you said
- 7:10Speaker 2: that you've seen her since and you have this girlfriend.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Does the girlfriend at all think this friendship is weird?
- 7:18Speaker 2: Because I personally, being part of this bachelor world, I
- 7:23Speaker 2: think that it's totally legit that you would have a
- 7:25Speaker 2: friend in Kelly first and foremost. Does she feel weird?
- 7:30Speaker 3: No, I honestly no, just I think just a lot
- 7:33Speaker 3: of like honest communication and you know, just talks. I
- 7:38Speaker 3: think I've made it like very clear like and then
- 7:40Speaker 3: you're right, Kelly and I do have like just a solid,
- 7:42Speaker 3: solid friendship. And again that's kind of where that comment
- 7:45Speaker 3: came from. I guess I know how it can be
- 7:47Speaker 3: like misconstruer made it look weird, but you know, I
- 7:50Speaker 3: think she she understands and like there's no worries there whatsoever.
- 7:55Speaker 3: There's no like drama or anything like that, which is
- 7:57Speaker 3: awesome and like I really appreciate that too. So again,
- 8:00Speaker 3: we Kelly and I, like we've been broken up for
- 8:03Speaker 3: a while. You know, she she's had a very serious
- 8:05Speaker 3: relationship post me and everything, so you know, there's been
- 8:08Speaker 3: a lot of time to like heal and move on,
- 8:10Speaker 3: and you know, obviously always wish the absolute best for her,
- 8:13Speaker 3: but there's like there's no drama like that and all involved,
- 8:17Speaker 3: like you know, moving forward with my current situation.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Okay, that's good. And Kelly was is currently being shipped
- 8:28Speaker 2: with Jason Tarctic. The fandom wants them to be together.
- 8:32Speaker 2: What do you think about them together? You were in
- 8:35Speaker 2: the same house as them during Coachella.
- 8:38Speaker 3: And I because that's a weird thing to talk about.
- 8:44Speaker 3: I it wouldn't be like weird for me, Like and
- 8:48Speaker 3: it may sound odd, but it really wouldn't. I both
- 8:52Speaker 3: you know, to be completely crazy, like I, they're both
- 8:57Speaker 3: very they could work, Like honestly, I could see it.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Like they both are you know, I think similar people
- 9:03Speaker 3: in like certain regards. And again, like when I think
- 9:06Speaker 3: of both of them, I think, like the first thought
- 9:09Speaker 3: that really come into my mind is like it's just
- 9:10Speaker 3: respect both ways and like I look up to both
- 9:14Speaker 3: of them in a lot of different aspects of life,
- 9:17Speaker 3: and yeah, I zero hard feelings if that, if that
- 9:22Speaker 3: ever happened, that ever came to be. You know, I
- 9:24Speaker 3: don't really know where exactly that stands, but yeah, I
- 9:27Speaker 3: guess I'm happy that I can say that too. Like I,
- 9:29Speaker 3: you know, I would want everyone to be happy, and
- 9:31Speaker 3: if if that ends up being the case, you know, great,
- 9:34Speaker 3: If not, I think they'll be great friends. But yeah, zero,
- 9:38Speaker 3: zero hard feelings on the side of it.
- 9:41Speaker 2: When they're together, do they like feel the pressure to
- 9:44Speaker 2: be flirty together because that's what people are rooting for.
- 9:48Speaker 3: I honestly, like, I don't want to speak for them,
- 9:50Speaker 3: but I honestly think it's maybe being played up a
- 9:52Speaker 3: little bit more than it is. Like if if I
- 9:54Speaker 3: had to guess, like that's my impression, so yeah, I don't.
- 9:59Speaker 3: I don't like, No, I don't see them, you know,
- 10:01Speaker 3: turning it on or something or flirting with each other
- 10:03Speaker 3: feeling they need to do that. But I think it's
- 10:05Speaker 3: being played up a little bit more than it is.
- 10:07Speaker 3: If I had a guess, Yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Has your mom Barb met the new girl?
- 10:12Speaker 3: Not yet? Not yet? Yeah, not yet. This is like so,
- 10:18Speaker 3: like I said, like, we met like very early on,
- 10:19Speaker 3: but you know, getting together has been a much more
- 10:22Speaker 3: recent thing.
- 10:23Speaker 2: So did she watch you on the Bouchelor?
- 10:27Speaker 3: No, okay, that's probably a good thing.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Is she tempted to watch back?
- 10:31Speaker 3: Now it's not going to.
- 10:35Speaker 2: You're like block like eye to the Apple and well,
- 10:38Speaker 2: I think apples where you can always stream every season.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I don't know where yours Elsier season might be.
- 10:44Speaker 3: But yeah, no, I probably I think the healthiest thing
- 10:48Speaker 3: is probably not to not to do that.
- 10:50Speaker 2: But yeah, okay, so you are on this new show
- 11:05Speaker 2: Destination X. I think that there. It seems obvious for
- 11:11Speaker 2: me to think that your wonderful game play on Traders
- 11:16Speaker 2: played a role in you being on this new show.
- 11:20Speaker 3: I think, so, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised by that.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I you know, obviously same network with NBC and with
- 11:26Speaker 3: with Peacock. But I mean for me, going on the
- 11:29Speaker 3: Traders is like, you know, obviously, you know, like going
- 11:32Speaker 3: on the whole Bachelor experience and whatnot, it was such
- 11:35Speaker 3: a unique experience in its own right, but I doing
- 11:37Speaker 3: the whole Traders thing really opened my eyes, like the
- 11:39Speaker 3: whole gaming world and like how much I really love
- 11:42Speaker 3: that and just it's definitely more my niche. You know,
- 11:48Speaker 3: even if I wasn't with someone I don't, I would
- 11:50Speaker 3: never really do a love show again. Just that's not
- 11:52Speaker 3: my thing. And yeah, I think I just found my niche.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I love it. I'm extremely competitive, you know. I think,
- 11:58Speaker 3: you know, some success and traders probably helped me with
- 12:00Speaker 3: this next opportunity. And this was just one like I
- 12:02Speaker 3: for sure like never could have said no to is
- 12:05Speaker 3: right up my alley. Just the whole aspect of travel
- 12:06Speaker 3: and how passionate I am about that. Yeah, it was
- 12:11Speaker 3: kind of felt like I was like made for this
- 12:13Speaker 3: specific one.
- 12:14Speaker 2: If Ben were here, he would say that Wells was
- 12:18Speaker 2: too good, has too much of a mind for traders,
- 12:21Speaker 2: and that's why he got eliminated so early. People didn't
- 12:23Speaker 2: want him. There you and Wells both in the same
- 12:27Speaker 2: trader's house.
- 12:28Speaker 3: What happens ooh ooh, you know what, I really don't.
- 12:32Speaker 3: I gotta like, I gotta meet Wells more. I really
- 12:34Speaker 3: don't know Wells that well. It's interesting. I think he
- 12:37Speaker 3: obviously was like the bananas of my season, and I
- 12:42Speaker 3: think coming in as like probably a threat, it obviously is.
- 12:45Speaker 3: You know, if you follow TV and follow stuff that
- 12:48Speaker 3: well done. You can tell you's the very there's like
- 12:51Speaker 3: a very intelligent person and very sharp and that is
- 12:54Speaker 3: that can definitely be kind of maybe a turn off
- 12:57Speaker 3: for you know, contestants in a castle, you're trying to
- 13:00Speaker 3: compete with them like that. That seems like competition and
- 13:02Speaker 3: that seems like I think I think Kim and Bananas
- 13:04Speaker 3: definitely kind of played a similar role in that. So
- 13:07Speaker 3: I think if I played with Wells in a future season,
- 13:12Speaker 3: I would I don't know how I would go about that.
- 13:16Speaker 3: I think my mind's like spending like a million miles
- 13:18Speaker 3: an hour here. I don't know.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Well, what about Gabby? How are you? How did you
- 13:23Speaker 2: do you know Gabby at all? Personally? Did you expect
- 13:25Speaker 2: her to do as well as she did?
- 13:27Speaker 3: No? Also, honestly, I first I knew the most was
- 13:30Speaker 3: Dylan that went on that season. We had kind of
- 13:34Speaker 3: he had called me up and we chatted a little
- 13:35Speaker 3: bit before he left and tried to give him just
- 13:38Speaker 3: any advice that I could.
- 13:39Speaker 2: You did you did well?
- 13:41Speaker 3: You did? He won? Yeah, he killed. He played an
- 13:44Speaker 3: incredible game. Gabby though, she surprised me like no other. She.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I think she's the perfect blend of just of smarts
- 13:51Speaker 3: but also flying under the radar, you know, has the
- 13:55Speaker 3: perfect personality for like reality TV. They can also maybe
- 13:59Speaker 3: distract the little little bit from how intelligent she really
- 14:02Speaker 3: is and what kind of a game she's really playing
- 14:04Speaker 3: under the radar. So she's like, in my opinion, like
- 14:06Speaker 3: the perfect blend for I mean, obviously she won as well,
- 14:09Speaker 3: so I would love to play with Yeah, with all
- 14:12Speaker 3: of them, it'd be sweet if like to do like,
- 14:13Speaker 3: you know, an all star kind of season at some point. Yeah,
- 14:16Speaker 3: cool games, it's a blast.
- 14:18Speaker 2: So you went from that show hosted by Alan coming
- 14:21Speaker 2: Big Star to Jeffrey Dean Morgan in this show and
- 14:26Speaker 2: that's cool. So how much interaction did you have with
- 14:30Speaker 2: both of them?
- 14:31Speaker 3: So Alan's funny, I've gone to aland a little bit
- 14:34Speaker 3: more post show. It was, you know, more after everything
- 14:38Speaker 3: was already filmed. Like we did a couple of fun
- 14:41Speaker 3: So he's got this club called Club Coming in the
- 14:43Speaker 3: Lower East Side in Manhattan, and so he would host
- 14:46Speaker 3: a bunch of like watch parties. So we'd go there
- 14:48Speaker 3: and it was fun to just like kind of like
- 14:49Speaker 3: have a couple of nights like just let loose and
- 14:51Speaker 3: we're not really filming anything and just have fun and show.
- 14:54Speaker 3: So I got to know him a little bit better there, Jeffrey.
- 14:57Speaker 3: It was crazy. We actually bonded and he has a
- 15:00Speaker 3: bunch of tattoos, and he has like a bunch of
- 15:02Speaker 3: finger tattoos, and we're like on this one probably the
- 15:05Speaker 3: coolest challenge I think I got to do on the
- 15:10Speaker 3: show on Destination X. But we're like having some downtime
- 15:13Speaker 3: and I'm like looking at his tattoos. I'm like, all right,
- 15:16Speaker 3: I'm gonna try to like bond with him, so like, hey,
- 15:17Speaker 3: I have a tattoo as well.
- 15:19Speaker 2: That is the easiest way to start a conversation with
- 15:21Speaker 2: somebody who's talking about the meeting behind their tattoos.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so true though, And he had a bunch
- 15:26Speaker 3: of finger tattos. So I showed him mine and mine's
- 15:28Speaker 3: like the twelve for the Seahawks and he's from Seattle.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Didn't know it, and he's a diard Seattle Seahawks man.
- 15:33Speaker 3: So we started like connecting over that, and then we
- 15:36Speaker 3: both got invited. This is post show. Had no idea
- 15:38Speaker 3: either one of us was going. We got invited to
- 15:41Speaker 3: the Seahawk game when the Seahawks are playing the Jets
- 15:43Speaker 3: in New York and we both show up and we're like,
- 15:46Speaker 3: we're sitting right next to each other, like no freaking way,
- 15:48Speaker 3: like one of the odds of this. So it was
- 15:50Speaker 3: kind of like a full circle moment. He's a really,
- 15:53Speaker 3: really cool dude. He's the perfect guy, perfect host for
- 15:55Speaker 3: this kind of show.
- 15:56Speaker 2: So tell us about the show. What's the premise and
- 15:59Speaker 2: how you come into play because people are going to
- 16:01Speaker 2: have to watch a few episodes to see you come in.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Yes, So premise of this show is it's the ultimate
- 16:07Speaker 3: adventure game. It's ultimate. Remember like the game like back
- 16:11Speaker 3: when we were like elementary school, Like where in the
- 16:13Speaker 3: world is Carmen that computer game? Yeah, Karma Sino, that's
- 16:16Speaker 3: what I forget our last name. It's it's pretty much
- 16:20Speaker 3: like that, but you put a game board all across
- 16:23Speaker 3: Europe and everything's fair game and you get in a
- 16:26Speaker 3: bus with however many contestants are left at that point,
- 16:30Speaker 3: the bus has all fogged out windows, you can't see outside.
- 16:33Speaker 3: The only thing you can see is sun. That's the
- 16:35Speaker 3: only thing you can tell, like from the bright light,
- 16:36Speaker 3: but anything else you can't see. And the whole premise
- 16:41Speaker 3: is Jeffrey essentially takes us all around Europe and puts
- 16:45Speaker 3: us in certain cities, you know, for every episode, and
- 16:48Speaker 3: we have to guess where we're at. And how do
- 16:49Speaker 3: you do that. It's you got a couple of challenge
- 16:51Speaker 3: options throughout that episode that week for that episode, and
- 16:55Speaker 3: if you win the challenge, you get information. And that
- 16:57Speaker 3: information obviously is gold, and it's up to you how
- 17:00Speaker 3: to share it, if you want to share it, but
- 17:02Speaker 3: also if you want to decipher it, because not all
- 17:04Speaker 3: the information you're getting this accurate, and that's where the
- 17:06Speaker 3: twist comes in. So there could be red herrings out
- 17:09Speaker 3: there that can be a complete distraction, or it could
- 17:11Speaker 3: be legit information and so puts a lot of different
- 17:15Speaker 3: kinks in it and twists and turns. But it's all
- 17:19Speaker 3: about just creating alliances and trusting your gut, using your knowledge,
- 17:22Speaker 3: using any skills you have to give yourself the most
- 17:26Speaker 3: educated guess of where you're at in Europe. And then
- 17:29Speaker 3: at the end of every week, a certain amount of
- 17:31Speaker 3: people get selected to go to what's called a map room.
- 17:33Speaker 3: It's in the bus and we go to the map room.
- 17:36Speaker 3: We have to put our X down wherever we think
- 17:38Speaker 3: we are, and the person that's furthest away from that
- 17:40Speaker 3: from the correct location gets booted for that week, and
- 17:43Speaker 3: then you go so on and so on until the finale.
- 17:47Speaker 3: So Ultimate Guessing Game. It's a little bit of Amazing Race,
- 17:51Speaker 3: but a whole different twist huge. It's got the travel
- 17:54Speaker 3: of Amazing Race to like the social social aspect game
- 17:59Speaker 3: of Traders guessing there too, and just alliances, And honestly
- 18:03Speaker 3: it's it's I think it's first that it's kind I've
- 18:05Speaker 3: seen anything out there that's quite like this.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Do your skills as a pilot help you out figuring
- 18:12Speaker 2: out where you are?
- 18:13Speaker 3: I had, Yeah, there was a couple instances. I honestly
- 18:15Speaker 3: thought it would have been more. But the main things
- 18:18Speaker 3: that like I brought from the flying aspect, I used
- 18:21Speaker 3: them like celestial navigation as much as possible throughout it.
- 18:24Speaker 3: So again that's dependent on having to have a clear
- 18:29Speaker 3: night and be able to see the north star, but
- 18:32Speaker 3: and you to be outside at some point. But if
- 18:34Speaker 3: I could see that, I could measure roughly my latitude
- 18:38Speaker 3: of where I was. So going into the game, I
- 18:39Speaker 3: kind of had you know, some key cities marked out
- 18:42Speaker 3: of what their latitude was and had that memorized, and
- 18:45Speaker 3: so I would use that information to compare with other
- 18:48Speaker 3: stuff that i'd gotten and other information I'd gathered from,
- 18:51Speaker 3: you know, anyone that I was constantly working with to
- 18:53Speaker 3: like give myself the best guess. So it helped me
- 18:55Speaker 3: in that aspect, and there was one time where it
- 18:58Speaker 3: came in super clutch. I recognized a anytime we were
- 19:03Speaker 3: new airports, obviously, I would like, you know, my alert
- 19:05Speaker 3: would go up a little bit, and I recognize the
- 19:07Speaker 3: departure corridor. We have what's called SIDS Standard Instrument Departure procedures,
- 19:12Speaker 3: so when you take off out of like a big airport,
- 19:13Speaker 3: every airplane follows the same course, and I recognize a
- 19:17Speaker 3: certain departure procedure I'd done a couple of years prior,
- 19:20Speaker 3: and that was super clutch for me because I at
- 19:22Speaker 3: that point was very very lost and very confused, and
- 19:24Speaker 3: so that was that was huge. So I would say
- 19:27Speaker 3: those are the two biggest ways that the piloting aspect
- 19:30Speaker 3: helped benefit me.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that's so cool. You must have felt
- 19:35Speaker 2: very like special, and you must have felt like you
- 19:39Speaker 2: I would have felt like, oh, I'm cool, I'm smart.
- 19:42Speaker 3: I just felt lucky. At that point, because this the
- 19:46Speaker 3: hard part about this show is like and there's a
- 19:48Speaker 3: lot like almost every place you'll go through and you'll
- 19:50Speaker 3: think there's no way in the world like this setting
- 19:52Speaker 3: or this topography is in this country. And it is though,
- 19:56Speaker 3: and they do, like the creators that they showed it
- 19:58Speaker 3: such a good job of finding like such uniques in
- 20:00Speaker 3: each country, and like nothing's obvious, like people think this
- 20:03Speaker 3: game is this is the hardest thing I've ever done.
- 20:06Speaker 3: And so I was off. Believe me, I was off
- 20:08Speaker 3: a lot too, and you know, it's very humbling to
- 20:12Speaker 3: like realize, holy I was damned, Like this alliance just
- 20:16Speaker 3: may have saved me there or whatnot. But yeah, in
- 20:20Speaker 3: that case, I was really really stoking happy that I
- 20:22Speaker 3: finally got something because I was pretty lost at that point.
- 20:25Speaker 2: I guess most people out there listening, we're probably like, okay,
- 20:28Speaker 2: but if you go buy a restaurant, you're going to
- 20:31Speaker 2: see a menu, You're going to see street signs with
- 20:32Speaker 2: the language. How do they hide that from you?
- 20:36Speaker 3: You don't, So nothing's really there is a handful of
- 20:39Speaker 3: times where and you're only there after a challenge or
- 20:44Speaker 3: an elimination kind of round has been completed. There's only
- 20:47Speaker 3: a handful of times where you're really in like an
- 20:50Speaker 3: area with a lot of other people, like most of
- 20:52Speaker 3: the places. And that's what's kind of cool too about
- 20:54Speaker 3: the show, Like the shots are just going to be
- 20:55Speaker 3: epic and so stunning because it's just some of the
- 20:58Speaker 3: most beautiful landscape that Europe has to offer. That's where
- 21:02Speaker 3: we were spending most of our time. It wasn't like
- 21:03Speaker 3: in a specific town or a city where you would
- 21:06Speaker 3: have access to license like I remember researching like all
- 21:09Speaker 3: license plates and like and flags, brushing up on that,
- 21:12Speaker 3: but that would have been too easy, right, So they
- 21:14Speaker 3: you're always more it's more secluded, except for like a
- 21:17Speaker 3: handful of times where and you'll see how that makes
- 21:20Speaker 3: sense in the game.
- 21:21Speaker 2: What's bus life like with these guys.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Very difficult, a lot different than like a trader's aspect,
- 21:29Speaker 3: just because you have zero privacy. You're close quarters with
- 21:33Speaker 3: each other all the time, you know you have you're
- 21:36Speaker 3: sleeping on the bus daytime on everything's on the bus.
- 21:39Speaker 3: You're traveling hours every single day to get to the
- 21:41Speaker 3: next spot, which made it difficult. Like in Traders, you
- 21:44Speaker 3: could you wanted to have a talk and you wanted
- 21:46Speaker 3: to have a chat with you know, one person or
- 21:48Speaker 3: a crew here, and you wanted to get some privacy,
- 21:49Speaker 3: you go walk outside or you go into a room
- 21:51Speaker 3: and close the door. Here, you can't do that, like
- 21:53Speaker 3: you literally it's a lot of whispering. What was cool though,
- 21:57Speaker 3: is eventually, like as the game kind of progress, everyone
- 22:00Speaker 3: kind of got a common understanding that might listen, everyone's
- 22:02Speaker 3: in this together. It sucks for everyone, like no one
- 22:04Speaker 3: can only chat. Let's like give each other the respect
- 22:07Speaker 3: to like go and have private talks, like not trying
- 22:09Speaker 3: to butt in or be that guy. So it made
- 22:12Speaker 3: it a little bit easier towards the end, we kind
- 22:13Speaker 3: of all understood how to play it. But also, yeah,
- 22:17Speaker 3: I mean it's bus life, so it's you know, crame
- 22:19Speaker 3: quarters and just a different different experience than you know,
- 22:23Speaker 3: living in a mansion on The Bachelor or asshole in
- 22:26Speaker 3: the Traders.
- 22:27Speaker 2: In a tam my question that everybody loves to know
- 22:29Speaker 2: about bus life, did you have to tell the driver
- 22:32Speaker 2: when you had to poop?
- 22:34Speaker 3: We had everything? Well, we were fully like stocked everything.
- 22:37Speaker 3: We had a bathroom, showers, everything.
- 22:40Speaker 2: You can do. Number two Yeah, okay.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Good, you wouldn't you wouldn't want to, but I can
- 22:48Speaker 3: get really comfortable real quick, but you could if you
- 22:52Speaker 3: had to, if it was an emergency.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 2: So you and Janey are the two celebrities from this show.
- 23:11Speaker 2: She's from Love Island, USA, and you two come in
- 23:15Speaker 2: together toward you know, not in episode one. I'll just
- 23:18Speaker 2: let people know that no spoilers, but not in episode one.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Why would they just pick two celebrities to reality stars
- 23:27Speaker 2: to join this cast of Not to be rude in
- 23:30Speaker 2: any way, but like of normies.
- 23:33Speaker 3: I don't know. I think I think you kind of
- 23:34Speaker 3: saw that that that format. So there's also Josh Josh Martinez.
- 23:39Speaker 3: He met him after the fact. He had I guess
- 23:42Speaker 3: we already episode two, but he had left episode one,
- 23:44Speaker 3: so we actually didn't get to see him. He was
- 23:47Speaker 3: I think he was big Brother and the Challenge, and
- 23:50Speaker 3: so there was three of us, and I don't know,
- 23:52Speaker 3: I think you kind of saw that format and Traders
- 23:54Speaker 3: season one you kind of had like a split thing.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Oh that's right, just yeah, it's it's a different take.
- 24:00Speaker 3: It's it's a different format. You know. Maybe there's just
- 24:04Speaker 3: who knows, like storylines that we had from that or
- 24:08Speaker 3: assumptions to be made from players because of you know,
- 24:11Speaker 3: people's past, you know experiences. Who knows, but I think, yeah,
- 24:16Speaker 3: it went, it went great. It was there was like
- 24:19Speaker 3: really no issue with that one.
- 24:20Speaker 2: All right, Well, we are so excited to watch this show.
- 24:22Speaker 2: This is awesome. Thank you for explaining concept like that.
- 24:25Speaker 2: It's really really fun. Yeah, speaking of travel, are our
- 24:32Speaker 2: producer who is so scared of flying? The woman hasn't
- 24:36Speaker 2: flew flown since nineteen ninety nine. No, yes, she couldn't
- 24:41Speaker 2: go to Ben's wedding. She couldn't get to my wedding.
- 24:43Speaker 2: We've known it for almost a decade. HALLOAI News Sugarvin. Yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 2: I mean, I know she's not alone out there. Lots
- 24:50Speaker 2: of people won't fly, but like she won't even be
- 24:52Speaker 2: medicated to fly. It's sad. It's sad she's missing out
- 24:55Speaker 2: on some of life. And now she's particularly well, she's
- 24:59Speaker 2: feeling findicated after like so many like close calls and
- 25:03Speaker 2: of course that awful crash and the Potomac a few
- 25:06Speaker 2: months ago. What's going on with air travel? Do you
- 25:11Speaker 2: think that there's anything different? You think we're just hearing
- 25:13Speaker 2: about it more?
- 25:14Speaker 3: Listen, air travel is you guys? I'm not going to,
- 25:17Speaker 3: you know, say anything you haven't heard before. Air travel
- 25:20Speaker 3: is the safest form of transportation out there by far.
- 25:23Speaker 3: It doesn't even compare when you compare it to cars, trains,
- 25:27Speaker 3: more just whatever it is. There's nothing safer than air travel.
- 25:30Speaker 3: You obviously, it's some really really sad and devastating you know,
- 25:34Speaker 3: news from some of those you know, unfortunate accidents that occurred.
- 25:41Speaker 3: You know, I can't speak too much on on all that,
- 25:45Speaker 3: you know, I'm not in like the we call it
- 25:47Speaker 3: NTSB National Transportation Security Board. They're the ones that like
- 25:50Speaker 3: have the full investigation on that and they know everything.
- 25:52Speaker 3: But it's it's tough. If there's anything I can say, listen,
- 25:55Speaker 3: it's that, you know, it's unfortunate with every accident though
- 26:00Speaker 3: in this anything in life, any type of transportation, it
- 26:02Speaker 3: makes it safer moving forward. It's obviously horrible that ever
- 26:05Speaker 3: happened in the first place, but we always there's something
- 26:07Speaker 3: to learn, and I can honestly tell you, like I
- 26:11Speaker 3: I have zero fear of flying, you know if I
- 26:13Speaker 3: fly obviously all the time for work, for you know,
- 26:16Speaker 3: pleasure to get you know, to get places too. Like
- 26:19Speaker 3: it's there's no reason to be scared. It's not like
- 26:22Speaker 3: there's this you know, crash down of ATC now all
- 26:26Speaker 3: of a sudden isn't working or airplanes aren't working anymore.
- 26:29Speaker 3: It's nothing like that. It truly isn't. And I know
- 26:31Speaker 3: it's just unfortunate, really unfortunate timing with stuff that's happened.
- 26:35Speaker 3: But I really hope that people, you know, trust in,
- 26:37Speaker 3: you know, in the training we all do you know,
- 26:39Speaker 3: whether it's ADC, pilots, fly attendants, everyone, mechanics, everyone that's involved.
- 26:44Speaker 3: It's such rigorous testing and consistent training on an annual basis.
- 26:48Speaker 3: There's I you know, I know people are gonna be terrified,
- 26:51Speaker 3: and I get that, like someone like Amy, and it's
- 26:53Speaker 3: it's a fear, and you know they're they have every
- 26:55Speaker 3: right to have that fear. But I promise you flying
- 26:59Speaker 3: it extremely safe. And I would not just be saying
- 27:02Speaker 3: that if I had any doubt in my mind that
- 27:05Speaker 3: wasn't the case. And it still is by far the
- 27:08Speaker 3: safest form of transportation that you can ever do.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Reagan is my hometown airport, being from Northern Virginia. I
- 27:16Speaker 2: always have heard I've always heard that it's one of
- 27:20Speaker 2: the airports that pilot's most dread flying in and out
- 27:23Speaker 2: of because of like the no fly zone and for
- 27:27Speaker 2: some reason I remember, like the Washington Monument or something
- 27:29Speaker 2: like that. Do you have you flown in and out
- 27:33Speaker 2: and like, do you find it to be an annoying airport?
- 27:36Speaker 3: I know, I wouldn't. I wouldn't use those words for it.
- 27:38Speaker 3: It's just definitely a complex airport because you had a
- 27:41Speaker 3: lot of really restrictive prohibited airspace, so you can't fly
- 27:43Speaker 3: over with obviously the White House, a lot of the
- 27:46Speaker 3: monuments there, so you have a specific departure again, kind
- 27:49Speaker 3: of get into what I was talking about with you know,
- 27:51Speaker 3: sid's standard instrument departure procedures. It's very strict procedures flying
- 27:54Speaker 3: out of there, and when you have to make specific
- 27:56Speaker 3: turns to not overfly you know, a certain sensitive areas.
- 28:01Speaker 3: To be honest, I enjoy that. I enjoy, you know,
- 28:04Speaker 3: kind of being in it, and I don't like, I don't.
- 28:07Speaker 3: I don't really think a pilot would say like they
- 28:08Speaker 3: shy away from that. I think, you know, if pilot's
- 28:11Speaker 3: talking about shining away from something, it's probably not shying away.
- 28:15Speaker 3: That's not the right word, but kind of like being
- 28:18Speaker 3: whatever it is yeah, is more like airports with like
- 28:22Speaker 3: just a lot of delays and like going in and
- 28:24Speaker 3: where you know it's going to be, you know, just
- 28:25Speaker 3: because there's so much congestion on the field. But as
- 28:27Speaker 3: pilots were never you know, the skill level that we
- 28:30Speaker 3: keep in like the proficiency that we keep at all times,
- 28:34Speaker 3: there's never a case where we're going into worried or
- 28:37Speaker 3: nervous of are we going to be able to handle this.
- 28:39Speaker 3: We're always always qualified and ready to handle whatever situation
- 28:42Speaker 3: is going to we're going to encounter. So yeah, with Reagan, again,
- 28:45Speaker 3: yes there are complex procedures there, but we're trained to
- 28:48Speaker 3: do all that and we wouldn't be flying into that
- 28:51Speaker 3: airport still if that wasn't the case. So hopefully this
- 28:54Speaker 3: can kind of like you know, ease some fears with
- 28:56Speaker 3: with people flying. But I get it it's a sensitive
- 28:58Speaker 3: topic right now, especially with stuff that's been on the news.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Thanks for that, Peter. It's it's nice to have a
- 29:05Speaker 2: pilot so that they like that challenge rather than a
- 29:07Speaker 2: dread it. They dread delays though and crowded airports, which
- 29:12Speaker 2: ones top of mind for you.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Let's see here, probably my favorite airport to fly into well,
- 29:20Speaker 3: it's always been in San Diego. I love flying in
- 29:22Speaker 3: San Diego, love flying into LaGuardia. I don't get to
- 29:24Speaker 3: do those too often now because I'm mainly all international.
- 29:27Speaker 3: Atlanta has a lot of delays. That's just you know,
- 29:30Speaker 3: a nature of the beast. That's, you know, I think
- 29:32Speaker 3: the biggest airport in the in the country. I'll probably say,
- 29:36Speaker 3: I guess maybe Atlanta, but I don't really fly that
- 29:38Speaker 3: much anymore. I'm not domestic.
- 29:41Speaker 2: And yeah, you're not. You were Delta one point.
- 29:44Speaker 3: I was. Yeah, I flew three years for Delta and
- 29:47Speaker 3: then not through at United.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Great and United is what your dad has retired from, right.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you're retired three years ago, almost three years
- 29:56Speaker 3: ago at the day I got That's what I got
- 29:58Speaker 3: to do is retirement flight.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, three years ago. Wow, I was flying
- 30:02Speaker 2: and that's not even my life.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Much some three years ago now and since then, Jack,
- 30:08Speaker 3: my little brother, he now flies for us too. We've
- 30:10Speaker 3: actually been able to do a trip. We actually flew
- 30:12Speaker 3: to Shanghai together. So that was a cool bucket list moment.
- 30:15Speaker 2: No way, that's so cool. I love how close your
- 30:18Speaker 2: family is and you just became an uncle because he
- 30:22Speaker 2: had a baby girl, Willow.
- 30:25Speaker 3: Yep, little Willow funkl I got funkle duties going on.
- 30:29Speaker 3: So he is absolutely precious and has definitely definitely done
- 30:34Speaker 3: something to me. You know, you hear people say it
- 30:36Speaker 3: to you like, oh, you're gonna love being an uncle
- 30:38Speaker 3: or an aunt, and it's definitely it's cool, you know,
- 30:42Speaker 3: obviously my little brother, but I look up to him
- 30:44Speaker 3: in so many ways and just seeing the father that
- 30:47Speaker 3: he's become to Willow and like the love that he
- 30:49Speaker 3: has for her, it's just such a beautiful like I'm
- 30:52Speaker 3: so proud of him, and I like, I just want
- 30:55Speaker 3: to be you know. I know he has an amazing
- 30:58Speaker 3: model like in our dad and you know, our parents,
- 31:00Speaker 3: Mom and dad. But I can't wait too uh, I
- 31:03Speaker 3: can't wait for that day and hopefully it's not not
- 31:05Speaker 3: too far, you know, around the corner. So, but he's
- 31:08Speaker 3: definitely inspireming.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Oh yeah. My sister is just obsessed with our boys.
- 31:13Speaker 2: She's our third parent basically, and I'm always wondering because
- 31:19Speaker 2: she has she's so close to them and she talks
- 31:23Speaker 2: to them every single day when she has kids, Like,
- 31:27Speaker 2: is it going to be different for me? Because I
- 31:29Speaker 2: was the parent first, and then the aunt.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Is she older or younger?
- 31:32Speaker 2: She's two and a half years younger. So staying again, right, yeah.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Well so you're you're I'm the older one. My little
- 31:39Speaker 3: brother has the older one.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, but I had the kids first, Yes,
- 31:44Speaker 2: I just yeah, I don't know. I'm like, I'm going
- 31:47Speaker 2: to feel the same way about your kids as you
- 31:50Speaker 2: have had the opportunity to feel about mine because you
- 31:53Speaker 2: didn't have kids, you know, I guess.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it's an interesting take. I mean, I would probably
- 31:57Speaker 3: assume it might be a little bit different just because
- 31:59Speaker 3: it's your first time being around them. But yeah, now
- 32:03Speaker 3: I'm obsessed with Willow. She is absolutely adorable and uh
- 32:07Speaker 3: yeah excited. That was a huge reason too to come
- 32:09Speaker 3: back to LA which has been great, just to be close.
- 32:11Speaker 3: And I knew that, you know, they were pregnant, so
- 32:13Speaker 3: they were having Willow on the way and timing just
- 32:15Speaker 3: kind of worked out. So it's been great.
- 32:18Speaker 2: So you are a West Coast boy through and there.
