- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm believing in you.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: A. I can replace every other thing you can do with your hand.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: What A. I cannot replace is housing.

- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: The greatest money mindset show on the planet.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, most people think that real estate is about money, but what if I told you the real game is about discipline, identity, and surviving long enough to build something that can't
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: be taken away from you see a lot of people talk about ownership but very few have had to fight through homelessness instability and real life pressure just to even believe ownership was possible today's guests didn't
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: Just learn real estate.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: She uses it as a weapon to write her own entire life from foster care, to homelessness as a young mother, to now controlling a portfolio tied to over a billion dollars in transactions.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: She didn't just beat the odds.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: She built a system out of it.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: And what makes this conversation different is she's not just teaching,
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: how to get properties, she's showing how to build real wealth, scale portfolios, and create ownership in communities, most people overlook.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: If you've ever
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: felt like you're starting too far behind or like the system wasn't built for you.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: This episode might completely change how you see wealth, access and what's actually possible and trust me, what she's about to break down about discipline and vesting and strategic ownership.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: Most people will never, ever here, ladies and gentlemen, round of applause for my sister.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: Tariq Alin, how about you?
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even understand, and I'm going to just put this on a record.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even understand how this is the first time we were sitting next to each other.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't, I don't even,
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know who, I don't know who when and why the ball is dropped, but I'm happy that we're doing it now.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm happy that we get to talk because you have a phenomenal story.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: I remember doing a big conference and you were on stage and you literally, myself and cool, you literally had us in tears, like in tears.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Um, because your story is so impactful and not, not in tears like, we felt sorry.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, yo, like, this is like triumph.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like how can somebody who goes through all of that, it's standing in front of us.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's a phenomenal story, it's a story of triumph, it's a story of, and I know you're, you know, you leave with God and, you know, I have the same right, GOD, God is greatness on display.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: And like you are that, like you are, like I believe the only you could prove God is through like showing greatness after it all.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'm excited.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited about this episode a billion dollars in transactions.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, eight Singapore Folio, like you are forced to get out, I want to hold my own app, but before we go there, before we go there,
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: So, it's simple.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a wife, I'm a mother, I'm a child of God, real estate developer, and real estate mentor, right?
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: I help people invest in real estate.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: I have a crowd pump platform that people invest in as well.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I'm just Sarah Cabrera, I'm just Sarah Cabrera.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the one thing I appreciate about you is that you really care about doing the work, right?
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that, you know, this online space of like teaching and things of that nature.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: you know gets conflated a lot because there's a lot of people who have the intentions of just saying hey I want to teach so I can make a lot of money.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: You are making a lot of money and say I don't even want to teach and you know salute to our brothers who kind of pushed you and said listen you have to be able to teach.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: Can you talk a little bit about a little bit about that like that your ability to you know you started now and just kind of wanting to just do real estate
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: But then kind of got into the coaching space and then and in the last four years like You like what you've done in that season space with thank God that you that you were obedient and said You know what let me go into this space because you've done it has been phenomenal.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: Can you talk about that?
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, absolutely, so first I just want to say, you know, I've been doing this for 22 years.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: So when you hear almost a billion transactions and properties and investments, that's an entire portfolio combined together.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: And so I just want, I want people to know that this is not something that just happened overnight.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's been 22 years in the making.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: And honestly, I, when I first got started in real estate, it was me escaping one storm trying to find freedom on the other side.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of people don't know that I was trapped inside the city of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I was, at that time, I was 19 years old, I had two kids.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: And before I had my two kids, I used to travel and sell magazines on the road, because I was in falsacare, we're in a way.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I ended up on a road just selling magazines door to door.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I became really, really good at it.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: But having two kids slowed me down and it put me back in the city of New Orleans.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: And so what's funny about that story is that when Hurricane Katrina came, I thought it was the end of the world as.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: I thought, you know, the rapture has come, I'm surely going to help because I didn't make it up.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Little did I know it was just, you know, a few states that was going through Hurricane Katrina.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: But that was during my life that was one of the most
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: The final moments, of course, me being homeless up under the bridge with my son was a moment.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: But being trapped in a city and not being able to feed your children, not knowing where you are going to get water or where you're going to go, how you're going to get out here and that the levees have broken the city is flooding.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: I can't swim.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: We it was just so much going on and I remember when I was selling magazines door to door, I would ask people what they did for a living and it would say real estate.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I've always start real estate was just the buildings.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: I never knew what I didn't know real estate was the dirt, right?
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: So, um,
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: I just thought I was getting into selling properties if you would after Hurricane Katrina and I feel like Hurricane Katrina was my second start.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it was almost like your second chapter and life your first chapter was like struggle and all of this that was really my turn and point and I started as a real estate agent and so.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: When I started as a real estate agent, I did not know that I would be a real estate developer today.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: I did not know that I would be put my children name on street signs and name and communities after them.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: I did not know that I would even be teaching people to do what comes so easy to me after 22 years.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: I had no clue that I would be doing that, but I would tell you that the road and just the journey to get here, it's been a fight.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: You know, um, it's been a fight and a lot of people I find whenever they're in the middle of a fight, they you ever heard of the um watch machine fight like you swing like this right.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: Well, what I realized was that I was swinging like that most of my life up into her can Katrina and I had to get strategic with what it what what it was that I wanted to do with my life and how I wanted my children to perceive me.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: And so once I got started in real estate, I, like I said, I didn't know anything.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: I felt exam seven times.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: Seven times.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: It was a nightmare.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: I was the dumbest person in the classroom to be honest with you because I was always racing my hand like, you know, excuse me, what is the mortgage?
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: excuse me, what is an encroachment?
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like he couldn't even get through the first chapter without me raising my hand.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: But, and people got aggravated at me too, as like they would get aggravated at me in the classroom.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: But I simply did not care because at this point, I have lost everything.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: Katrina has taken everything.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: I have nothing.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: I am selling my food stamps to be able to pay to sit in this classroom.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: I am on my last limb.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm on.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm on my last limb and so it had to work.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: It had to work for me and when I got started I my first year real estate.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: Guess how much I sold.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, 100,000.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: From
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: $5,000.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, first year.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: My third year.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: The whole year.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: Sheesh.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: I remember saying I could have made more McDonald's.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: The amount of money was good.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's selling magazines.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: I was good.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: That happened to the, that is such a great question.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for asking that, right?
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: I was really good at selling magazines.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: What I was not good at was believing in who I was.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Real estate is, if you don't have,
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: knowledge, if you don't have a certain education, if you don't have a certain last name in some areas, if you don't have certain connections, if you don't, you know, if you're not in the right rooms, you don't get certain opportunities, but I did not know that.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: I was hustling backwards.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: So my first year, I made $5,000, I was thinking the broker was gonna send me deals, cause they told me that it was gonna send me deals this up, none of that happened.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: So the second year, I went back to my roots.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: I started door knocking.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: I want to list your property, I will cut my commission and they would say, well, what's different?
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like, why would I go with you versus the top agent in the area?
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, well, first of all, they're not knocking on your door, accent for your business.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: Secondly, I have time.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: You won't be a number to me.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: You would be my whole attention because I have no deals right now.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what got me in the doorway with a lot of people that I would have never known just by going back to what I was really good at, which was door knocking.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: But had I not did that, had I wait on my broker to feed me?
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: I probably wouldn't be sitting in this chair today.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: Message message don't miss that.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: Don't miss that.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: So now, what would you make your second year?
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so my second year.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: I was the number one agent in the office.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: I did over three million and so on.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: I was from 5,000 to three million.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I became Century 21 like Rubin Award.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: They used to have like these Emeralds and Rubin rubies and things like that.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: And so I became one of their top agents after that, just going back to the roots.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: And one, I will say it is two.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: One,
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: rich person knows another rich person.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: One poor person knows another poor person.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: I had to find people that had ownership that could sell something.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: And then they would refer me to other people who they knew had something to sell.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: So it became a domino so far.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: And then show, so from homelessness, from foster care, from you are a single monitor time.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: being a single mom, how are you navigating all of that and selling real estate?
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what's, you know, like, 5,000 in one year and then up to 3 million, like, that's a drastic change of life to a little bit about that transition.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean,
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: I had a lot of assistance when I started in when I said assistance, I mean government assistance.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: As section eight, I had food stamps, you know, I'm saying I had Medicaid.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like I had, I had a lot of resources from the government because I still needed the assistance.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like I didn't just get, like I said, I mean five thousand dollars my first year.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: And by the grace of God, section eight goes according to income.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: So my rent was according to my income, you know, and because it was a part of her can country and that they gave us vouchers automatically, and so, you know,
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: I, what I tell people is this, hurricane Katrina FEMA gave us $10,000.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody, everybody got like $10,000, okay?
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember blowing through that $10,000, like it was nothing.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we ate a red lobster.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: We was buying coach bags because I never had a coach bag before.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: I was shopping for my kids.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: We went on trips for the very first time in our life because we never left the city of New Orleans like, you know what I'm saying?
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I traveled, but I'm just saying like, that's what everybody was doing.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: And so the money just went like that.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember thinking like,
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: What happened to that money like I really don't I had nothing to show for the money that they had given me and then I was back in the grind and I was back trying to sell real estate and make a real estate commission and and pay my bills and and do this and do that and so it started with me having to understand that.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot keep up with the Joneses in my current situation.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: I had to be true to who I was.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: So if all the realtors was going out to eat and I couldn't go, I just said I couldn't go.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'm saying everybody had on really nice clothes.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: I was at goodwill shopping.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I just, I took my situation and I stayed within the comfort of what I could actually afford.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: And then I cut out all the things I was spending money on like Jorton's and
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: my hair and my nails and all of these things.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I just went natural.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like everything was just but bone natural.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: You looked up all real estate pictures of me.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: I look like Oprah Winfrey.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you know what I'm saying?
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: I got the Bob and everything was really really bad.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: My good will suit on.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: I was able to take the little savings that I was getting and I was able to start doing different things.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: Now what really changed was when I got my $5,000 tax refund.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's what changed my life.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: Because normally I would go, I would wait for my tax return and I would go pay all my bills, I would catch up, end our with buy a car because normally the kind of cars I would buy with make it to tax season.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's true, right?
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: And this particular year, I said, hey.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: I am going to buy a property with this $5,000 tax refund.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the reason why I knew I wanted to buy a property was because I was already a real estate agent.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: I was already helping investors and I was seeing what they were doing.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: I just didn't know $5,000 wasn't a lot of money.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: It was a lot to me.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: Right, right.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: So when I'm looking for something for me, that's for a whole year.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Getting that, that's like, that's a, you know what I mean?
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: So people like,
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, well, why you didn't start with a hundred.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: I started with what I had.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I had.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of people say, well, you can't find properties like that no more.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you can, yes, you can.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: You go to auction.com.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: Bid started at $1 right now, yes, you can.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: But because you speak it, that's why I don't happen, right?
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so I took that $5,000 tax return.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: I bought the ugly house on the street from a wholesaler.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: And he wanted like eight or nine thousand.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: I got five thousand dollars.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and if you told me no, I would have went so well with my $5,000.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: So I ended up buying a three-barrel one-bath little huckleberry, 800-square-foot.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I met my husband, I had a real estate commission, it was like a $3,000 check.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: My husband was working at Walmart at the time.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: Stocking shelves, you know what I'm saying?
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: So...
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: We literally used all of our little money that we had to put into that house, everything.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll tell you, and some people will say, this is crazy.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't saying, this is horrible advice.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: This is my story.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: This is how I did it.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: My power guy cut off because I needed that money to go and get some materials.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like things happen that most people would be like, not I'll never.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: But because I've been to rock bottom, I know how to survive there rock bottom.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: where I'm there right now I don't really know what the water's like right now with this investment property but I got to see it through and I'm grateful I have a husband who trusted me and believed in me enough and and look we he he learned how to plumb my house through YouTube okay so we had to do the plumbing he did it through YouTube you know we bought flooring from family dollar
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: They still sell Florence today.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: People don't even know that.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Went to Home Depot, bought some oops paint.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: People don't even know what that is.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's the cheapest paint you can buy.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: That the stores messed up.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: That they got to give away to you pretty much for free.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I went and bought oops paint.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: So this house looks like a oops.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_00]: It looks like a oops.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: but guess what?
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: I said relationships are important.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: So during the time I was working with investors, I was building relationships with bankers, but I didn't know that I was doing this.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: I just was like, man, they got this person approved.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: Let me send them this person.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: They got that person approved.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Let me send them this one.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: So I end up going to carry who is still my banker to this day.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, here, I know I don't have the credit to be able to be able to get along, but I would like to start doing what my investors are doing the ones I send over here.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: And so it was like, what your credit score is, they're going to I was like, it's a 550 and, you know, he gave me that look kind of like what you look like right now.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little judgment on you know, but look I just I was I was vulnerable and I was open I said I don't you know, it's a 550 you know, I have collections on there And honestly if you want me to go pay those off I don't have the money to pay those you know And he said whoa
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I told him I said, but I have a property that I purchased.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: I was proud of this property.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: My oops, property.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, I would like to pledge this as collateral.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now, how did I know to set up because I've been working with real estate investors, right?
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: So I just be listening.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and so I didn't know what it was going to praise for.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I was a realtor.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: I could have ran comes, but I wasn't like sweet, sweet like that.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: So when he went out, um,
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: a praise to the property, how much you think of the praise for him?
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: Um, do you want $20,000?
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: $60,000.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, so there's $5,000 of property, $60,000.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I was $8 in because he's my three, yeah.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: $60,000.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, first dance.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: Look, he said Taracan.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: On paper, you should not be getting along.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: You're not bankable on paper.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: He said, I'm banking on you.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, I'm believing in you and that meant something to me because my whole life, yeah.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I've been out of it.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: My whole life, you're gonna be a statistic.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna be a crackhead like your mom and you get a daddy.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna be a teenage mom.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna be a high school drop out.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: I got all of these things that's going through my head.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I got this white man that's looking me in the face and he's saying, I'm banking on you.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm banking on you with a 550 credits go.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm banking on you that you're gonna be able to say, that you're gonna do what you say you're gonna do.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: I said, if I have to do some strange thing for some change, I will pay this bill.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: That was BC.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: And so he, I'm so in a praise for 60,000, he's I'll give you 80% up the value.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: $48,000, that reminds you, I blew through 10 in a day, 48,000.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: all the thoughts can't, man, you need a new car.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: You don't got this, man, you need some new clothes because you haven't even bought yourself and then you've been shopping at goodwill and you know, it only starts going through my head of things that I need, what we call liabilities.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't notice words back then, right?
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm battling with myself because I know
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: I need all of this.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: I know that, you know, I don't know if I'm ever going to get this amount of money again in my life.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: So I have to figure out what I'm going to do.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I bought nothing.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: That was a liability.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I said, OK, well, if I was able to do this with this property, surely, I can do it with another one.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: And question the property, the Oop's house, were you renting it out like what were you, what were you doing?
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's a single family.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's a single family.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a single family.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: Three bare one bath.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: I still get five 50 a month right now to this day.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: I will not let that go.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: I ride by that house just to remember.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's where he is.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it still pays every single month.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: And what is it worth now?
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, probably.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe once one.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: What would you think for it?
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: Once one is?
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: So successfully for seats.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: For sure.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: She was working at Ground Patty.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: She's a multi-million dollar real estate producer from my company.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: She's been with me over 15 years.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I said that, but yeah, so long behold, I take that $48,000 in real estate, you know, that's equivalent to having a quarter million dollars, because just like the bank gave me 80 percent.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: I was able to go get another 80% on another building now carry what was good about my banker and a lot of people don't notice is some small banks they can approve of to a certain amount and don't even need to go to committee.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: So he didn't have to go get permission from nobody.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: He was the person who said I'm going to do this deal.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: So I didn't go through on the right and I didn't have to go through that and sometimes people just get in their own way and in their heads because they're like I'm not qualified on paper I don't have the money or the reserves are all of these things that you hear about because some people are just too overly educated where they stuck right and so So I went got a property it was work the quarter million dollars to 125,000 I did the exact same play made sure it had equity in it that I was able to pull out and then it became a sport
- 25:01[SPEAKER_01]: It became, it became like hunger games, if you were like, you know what I'm saying, like, we gonna survive this and one property after another after another and I wasn't, I would be lying if I said, yeah, I was gonna get them $1,000 in the beginning, no, I was just trying to pay my bills.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: So what I realized was every property I had was covering a bill.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: So if I keep buying properties just to cover my bills, the money I would make now, I can go buy more investment properties.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: So in less than two years, section eight kicked me off the program.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: There's like, you out, that you make too much money.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like you know what I'm saying?
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it got to the point where do you hide this money from Section 8, keep that discounted rent?
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: Because some people do do that, right?
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: Or do I just be completely transparent and say, this is where I met?
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: It was a brutal moment for me because not only this Section 8 strip me, fool's them strip me, medicate strip me, everybody strip me.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: They like, yo, you'll need our assistance, no more.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: Never in my life up to that point
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: So I was like, oh, my children got to have a doctor.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: And my husband, by the grace of God, him working at Walmart, he was able to get some benefits, but it would make his checks nothing.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: It would be small because we needed insurance.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I was not quitting in real estate.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: And so fast forward, I, in 2012, I decided that I was gonna be a real estate broker.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: and I was going to start my real estate brokerage.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: I was pregnant and I told my brokers what I wanted to do and I wanted to be a broker of their company because I was already their manager.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: So I was recruiting people, bringing people in.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: I had just recruited Brittany brought her in like I had a teen with
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: them brokers.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: I thought they were excited for me in my face.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: They called each and every last one of my investors and told them my hurricane Katrina story how I come from nothing and how that they were going to be shifting gears and that there was going in a different direction from me.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: I had no clue that they did that.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: I got a phone call from one of my investors
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, what you mean, I'm like, you know, he's like, I just got a call from such and such and, you know, they told me that you're not going to be with them.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: They're going in a different direction.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: They knew before I knew.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: And so while I'm trying to figure out what's going on, this is also a financial hardship in my life at this time, because I'm thinking I'm about to do something to help my brokers, who I've been, you know, out and brought all these agents over.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought they would have my back.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: Not that they changed the key code to the dope like me out.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm on the I'm in the parking lot crying 2000 12.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm in the parking lot crying and pregnant and pregnant Britain in my line who picked me up I'm like what am I gonna do yeah, like I have nothing.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: This is what I'm looking at her I didn't want to start a broker.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't want to have my own brokers.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't I didn't I didn't want to do these things
- 28:20[SPEAKER_01]: but I had to do it.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: So what I do, I open up the door to some of my brokerage company.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I have one- What's one of you have money like, how much?
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Nah.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: I was using my husband paychecks.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: to pay my secretary to work the office and to pay the office rent.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: Well, his paycheck and then if I had a commission, I would pay my rent that I was rents in at the place because I was always late for sure.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I get there and, you know, I'm trying to start the company, I'm trying to build this brokerage or whatever the case may be.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: And none of my agents are coming with me except one.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: And whenever I realize that this one person is relying on me.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: So if I have to sacrifice my husband payroll check, if I have to sacrifice every single real estate commission I have to make ends meet, right?
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna have to figure it out because again, as I know a rock bottom feels like.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: I know what it's like to be at the bottom.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: So you can't break me down.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: I've already been out, I've survived it.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: So if I go all the way back to New Orleans and the projects, I know what to do.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: For sure.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: But this is new grounds.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: This is new territory that I'm taking.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_01]: So I ended up just sleeping on my office floor with my children.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: I lost my house.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_01]: Am I lying?
- 29:51[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: I slept under the desk with my children.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I would wake up.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, should you have at this point?
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: Three.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: I would wake up.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and you gave her, no, four.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: Because Sheldon was just born.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: Sheldon was just born.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: So my newborn was with me too.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, sleeping on the office floor.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: My husband, Phil, interview your husband.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, whoa, that's a lot, I feel like, yeah.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm getting up early because I don't want my agent to know that I'm living in the office.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: And her mother's already said, what you following that black woman for?
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: a few years ago, and I'll say it again, public here.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: I thank her for being my Daniel friend.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: Daniel friends was his friend, even when Daniel wasn't in the room.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: When everybody was getting, you know, away with the king and drunk and feasting and doing all lists, his friends continue to pray and fasten and make sure they stayed on the assignment that got called them too.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: and that's what she did for me.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: My name when it was brought up in other room she protected it, she defended it, she stayed with it.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know, even if I was struggling, like I never struggled to pay agents commission because it was bare money.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: So even if my bank account was negative and I had to get three payday loans to make sure that they check would clear so they can get their funds all the time.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: I did what I had to do to sacrifice in that season.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: I became one of the youngest African-American real estate brokers in Lafayette, Louisiana, to have a mixed use brokerage, and we was doing what 20, something million a year.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, wow.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: 20, something million a year, because Brittany came, and then all my same agents that came in 2012 have been still with me to this day.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, yeah, yeah.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like the day one.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_01]: And we just worked, we, I worked, my old broker would go and take my signs and and rip them and break them and knowing that I don't have the money to be replacing them like that.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: But I just kept on like, I'm not going to go as low as he going.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to put the sign back in the yard.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go do what I have to do and my husband wants to get in the wall and see like, look, I just want that I just want to talk to do.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, nah.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, from the brokerage from the me getting the investments going and really getting it going and from you having investors is really how I built where I met today.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot of story.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's a beautiful story though, because again, and a lot, I didn't know a lot of this, but for me, what this is kind of like showing is that like, this is one thing, right?
- 32:43[SPEAKER_00]: ability to say that I know what the rock bottom feels like I'm okay to go back there, right?
- 32:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like I call it sort of like the love detachment and I'll be honest with you in it and like like this actually freed me in some in some ways to be honest with you because in I'll be fully transparent on the show is that there are a lot of times that God is telling me to start over and I don't listen because I built
- 33:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like I offer the projects to a single fair and whole like I know what it's like to be like bottom and it's times that God has telling me to start over and I don't listen because I feel like what I've built like I'm trying to hold on to what I've built I'm trying to hold on to what I've done I'm trying to hold on and to that point though like there were times where you know I like I mean it's still times that I get paid last.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_00]: right like I make sure that I like y'all working till I'm gonna make sure you get paid so that actually frees me a lot so I'm gonna say thank you for sure because you know again I like I know
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: The vision that God has given me, and every time God is like yo, I need you to start over it.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, no, but you don't see like, I can't, I can't, I can't.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_00]: And so that love detachment, that ability to detach from whatever the outside world thinks.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_00]: And doing what you have to do like the fact that
- 34:08[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like I commend you to fact that you got four kids and you're living in your office because you have to do what you got to do.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_00]: That says a lot.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: But that also explains why you're so successful now, right?
- 34:22[SPEAKER_00]: Because again, to have billions of dollars worth of transactions to have properties worth over $60 million at this point.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like to come from what you come from,
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: that says a lot, but not only like talking a little bit about that right you said you have a streets name after your kid like talk about give me the give me the like I'm gonna go back but give me the give me the end of the story give me the end of the movie give me the well when we have right now 60 million.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like, all of that, all of those numbers mean nothing to me.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: I am like, I show up just like, no matter what role my men, you already know as you've been sitting around a while.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't keep up with the crowd.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: It all right.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: But I would tell you what I feel my greatest accomplishment throughout my entire career, aside from naming street signs after my children and buying communities, is that Donald Trump Scott Turner invited me to the White House.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: A girl from New Orleans with Wees and Anna.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: You understand what I'm saying?
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: Opportunities on initiative.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: Back in 2014, I started reading because I was like, what is this job's act that Obama's talking about?
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: He'd learn more about that.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: Then he didn't Trump came in with the opportunities on, I'm like, yo, I need to learn more about that.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: one is going to benefit the community.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: I've never been about take care of my community.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to lie.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: I've been take care of Terracca, her children, her team.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's take care of the community.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: I've never started with, oh, I got to look out for the community.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: I never did that.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: but when the opportunities don't can't, whenever all of the things that people were complaining about, oh, they bought the gentrified.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, nah, how can we take back our communities?
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: How can we take territory?
- 36:16[SPEAKER_01]: How can we get ahead with this?
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: Because there's a, it gotta be a way we can get ahead.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: And so I went, and I started, I started talking to investors.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_01]: I started having conversations, nine, 10 o'clock at night.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: We ended up with Madeline Cole, which is a community we have now, which is a community that I've been building out in phases.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: We just finished phase one and headed into phase two.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: That is a $21 million mixed use community.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: That community alone is what that's going to be worked by the time we put the apartments there.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: And the commercial retail strip there.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_01]: And we put the duplexes there.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_01]: We already finished a single family home back there.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: And so knowing that that one project got the attention of the mayor and the mayor had connections with
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, with Washington and the Scott Turner who's overheard right now, man, we've got to do another one because that's a whole other thing too, but Scott Turner who's overheard right now, he came out to my development walk the streets and brought it back to the White House.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: So, and let me tell you getting security check by the White House.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, Joe, right for sure.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, before you even come, Homeland is gonna know everything.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and it was just such a free and experienced because I'm like, yo, this is somebody who was homeless up under a bridge with her baby.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: 17 years old false to care fighting through life trying to find out who I am through the struggle Knock down get back up knock down get back up, and I'm in a room where and this is gonna resonate I'm gonna or you're in the glass of milk Wow I'm looking around
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: feeling a little uncomfortable, but I see Scott Turner, and I see he standing at the front.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: And for whatever reason, they have put this man in position to be over the opportunity zones at that time, and he's seeing fit to offer an invitation to the people that did really well with their opportunities on funds.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: And to sit in a room like that, it changed my life.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: I can't unseat that.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: And so I would say, you know, you say give you the end of the story.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's still been written, you know, my children, you know, my daughter, she started at 15 years.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: So she's 21 now.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: She owns 28 units on mobile home parks and things like that, mixed shoes.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: But she's also a real estate agent.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: She's also a real estate investor.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: She, you know, just flips several properties and she's killing it.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and when I look at and people
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's the knowledge, can I close my eyes as today right now and my children pick up where we left off.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: They can stand on my shoulders.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: They can stand on their father's shoulders.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: And they can see the work that we've done and so, um, yeah, that the end of the story is still being written.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny because I remember watching one of your sons getting like seeing his name on the street and that, you know, as a, I mean, as a first as a black man, right?
- 39:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like definitely as a father myself, but just as a black man that understands that there's nothing nice set up for us.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_00]: like like like when we come into this world specifically here in America we're counted out for real.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: Like there is no programs they they want us dinner in jail and to see that, to see a young man had that a bestowed on him was like a proud moment you know what I mean and then to see all of the people that you've been able to help so
- 40:17[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about that, right, because the fact that, you know, you know, 2012 was when you started the brokerage 10 years later, right, now 2022 is when you've had you, you've had a decade of full of success.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_00]: I started my career in 2006.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: So, ended 2005, 2006.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's when I got licensed.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, for sure for sure.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm for 2000.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_00]: Well, okay.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: You got your own brokerage.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: They kicked you out.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you right.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_00]: You start all over.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: And so that 10 year period you're now successful and you start teaching this online.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: And you get to a space where online, you've taught over 8,000 people, you know, live, you've taught over 5,000 people, you, your live experiences have been like phenomenal.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_00]: I talk a little bit about that whole experience from like 20 suits of now.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, what pride that you've had in teaching people, why did you start teaching people that I'm...
- 41:25[SPEAKER_01]: No, thank you for asking me that because, um, you know, um, I just appreciate you accent like what, what made that right?
- 41:34[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I would say for me whenever, um, I was on a phone with Tiffany Haines, okay.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: Tiffany Haines used to work for issue was, um, his book in agent, she ran his events and everything like that.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I actually was serving at an event and I was, I was very successful at this one
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: Because my whole life, I felt like I had to fight and then it's like, okay, I accumulated so much success What what I need to prove now like why I'm fighting so I just was really Trying to get through that terrible in Smith story if you would and so long story short I found myself serving and that's my first hardest to serve But I found myself serving on East team and me and Tiffany somehow
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: She found out that I was in real estate because I don't talk about it.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe I had a conversation and with someone else briefly But she was in a situation that she was like I really want to become a real estate investor, and But you know, I got all of these things and you know, she explained she had like some bankrupt season things like that and she was like I just got away And I said no, you don't
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: So in one year with me, she acquired 12 doors, 12 doors, she had the capital, she just needed creative financing, which I was able to help her get structured, set it up, put her on opportunities that would allow to create a financing.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_01]: And so David and her was talking one day, I didn't even know David like that.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, David.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so Tiffany told David, yeah, I'm about to get my 13th
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: Bro, how are you doing this?
- 43:15[SPEAKER_01]: He said I've been wanting to get in real estate.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so he said I just got burnt.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: He told tip I just got burnt on the deal.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I lost 15, $20,000.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm kind of still looking my wounds and tips like you got to talk to Terracum.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: So me and David get on the phone and I can hear in his voice because I have a deal and I'm like, hey, I got to do send me X amount of dollars.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: I forgot it was like 30,000.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_01]: It was a small number.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let me yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: So he was like, and so I said, hey,
- 43:54[SPEAKER_01]: I do not invest or partner with anyone who has fear.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll just partner later and like you just let me know when you're ready.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: And he called me back like, now I'm ready.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna do this, right?
- 44:06[SPEAKER_01]: And so I said, okay, this is how it's gonna go.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: All right, I already got the property.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I already own it.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm bringing you in on my deal.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'm gonna have this fixed in two weeks.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna have it back on the market and within the first 90 days, I'm gonna have it sold.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: from construction to sold, we did that in six weeks.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_01]: And David made almost double his money.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: And he's yeah.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: We got wire receipts in real life.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: And he said,
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: you got to you got to share this with the world and I was like what you may share this with the world like people know how to do this air like in my mind because I'm in real estate all day every day everybody's doing this at this point it's I mean like no team like they not doing it like this like them people just core sellers but it's a difference with people that's actually doing it and can teach it.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_01]: He said you just walked me through this whole thing.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: It happened exactly how you said it's going to happen.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: I say hey, but nothing's ever guaranteed.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: I always tell you that I told you I can lose all your money in the beginning.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_01]: I did everything I could to discourage you.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: And so he was like, I know, but we got to be able to share this with the world.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, all right, cool.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: So, me and David, you know, he told me like, we're going to, this is how we're going to do, we're going to teach this.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he said, tell me what comes easy to guess.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: So, I just saw it rumbling through some of the things.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: He said, you know, all of this, so we put it together in a course.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: And, David got busy, and then I called him one day and I said, hey, I don't want to do this no more.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't even sell one thing and I don't want to do this no more and he was like, why was wrong to us?
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know the internet.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know people.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how to talk in front of camera.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really, I had some in excuses, whatever.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: So David said, hey, let me worry about that.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_01]: You just teach it and do it the right way.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: And don't do nothing.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_01]: Don't talk about nothing you don't do.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's what we told me.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_01]: I said, all right, that's easy.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_01]: So, Ham and Neil got together, put together the marketing plan, and we fast forward.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you know, we have had 8,000 students come through the five day property challenge.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: And it is a challenge.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's five days of hardcore intense action items.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_01]: Don't just sit here and listen.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: You got to pick up a phone and call a lender during the challenge and you got to get three term sheets and you got to be able to, you know, you got to be able to find properties.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_01]: And then you got to underwrite and then you got to turn in your home work and then it got to be, it's so much that goes on in the challenge that is not just oh, I'm sitting online learning.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: No, you're actually putting in the work.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_01]: you're gonna fill it.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_01]: And five days you're gonna fill it, but I'm gonna break the barriers down that's been stopping you from becoming a real estate investor and I'm gonna give you a clear role map so now you know what direction you need to head in and so you know it's been phenomenal and I think that one of the biggest things that I love about teaching online now because of first the first year I was like David and Neil I hate this.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_01]: call Tiffany Montgomery.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: I hate this and she would be like you need to stop.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: God has given you influence, Terracca, and you are abusing it and you are doing a disservice to God's people by not sharing this information.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: People need to know how to take territory.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: They need to know how to invest.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_01]: They need to know the process and they need to know if they've been scammed or not.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Tiffany was on.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, okay, you're right.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm getting back in this fight.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: but the people kept coming and they kept on getting bigger and bigger and bigger and I was like God, you're increasing my territory, I need my capacity increase because I still love real estate.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the internet can hate you tomorrow and and cancel all your digital business.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: My bricks don't do that to me.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
- 48:07[SPEAKER_01]: My residence ain't about to just up and leave.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's the place for the next year.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: And so for me, it's important that I find the balance of being the real estate mentor and really teaching people how to evaluate deals and how to buy right and how to recognize a scam or our, our, our, our, our, our, our, our, are you shouldn't do it, right?
- 48:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_01]: But I also enjoy buying real estate.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: I enjoyed the investment of it.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: I still do like hunger games.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's still about that kill for me.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'm saying, and I don't plan on stopping that.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like I probably, I probably do this until my eyes closed.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_00]: What do you say to the people that say that real estate is dead?
- 48:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like I've heard that conversation.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_00]: happening where people like real estate isn't the way it is and we used to be building wealth within real estate like you're wasting your time you might you know AI you might as well jump into the markets and invest in AI like what do you say about like that that in general mm-hmm so what AI cannot replace is housing mm-hmm
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: Aac and replace every other thing you can do with your hands, but it cannot replace housing.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_01]: And for people who say real estate is not what it was, I mean, you know, I'm probably going to get eight up in the comments for this, but those are your HGTV investors.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: You watched the TV showing you thought you can do this.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and so for me, I can look at it.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_01]: Do it right away until if if the numbers make sense or not.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm going to chop it up.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do the 1% rule.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do the 70% reward of the 2% rule.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to run the numbers and I'm going to have a reserve account.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I'm going to have a vacancy.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I'm going to have a vacancy percentage that's taken out of my monthly word.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm going to have all of these things that people cry about.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I just believe it's a lot of miseducation because real estate still not just to me, but to any other.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_01]: millionaire billionaire in the world real estate is still one of the best vehicles to well you have your tax depreciation you have appreciation you have you you is so much leverage that you can.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_01]: You utilize your investment portfolio for and, you know, um, yeah, you can buy stocks and stocks can go up and down, you know, um, yeah, you can buy into, you know, um, Bitcoin and you can do all of these things, but real estate is tangible.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_01]: When you put it on your personal financial statement, banks look at you different.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_01]: When they see a $21 million and make sure it's community on that PFS, they it hit different facts.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_01]: To me, every sense I found out I wasn't bankable, I made sure that I became bankable.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_01]: And for those who say, let me just say this, a lot of people want instant gratification in real estate, and real estate is not instant gratification.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_01]: Fixed in flips taught people instant gratification.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_01]: But the transfer of wealth is from the impatient to the patient.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_01]: And it's always been that way.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_01]: That is why you see people like Warren Buffett, and you see people like Donald Trump, and you see people like Oprah Winfrey, all these people who have major portfolios and acquiring acres and acres and acres of land right now to this day will tell you that it is still the investment that you wanna invest into to be able to continue accumulating wealth.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, and I'm glad that you said that because even when I think about like, like entrepreneurs or anybody who actually makes money, when even if you're investing in stocks and things in that nature, this capital gains.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_00]: And so now when you're realizing some of that wealth, this capital gains, but in real estate, there's ways to cut like the taxes
- 52:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_00]: And then you're live events, right?
- 52:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like those are like theatrical movies, right?
- 52:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like what was that transition like from online?
- 52:36[SPEAKER_00]: Was it like, why was it important to take it from online and then make sure that the events were live as well?
- 52:41[SPEAKER_01]: Because I don't believe that there's enough people that's in the position that I manage, that's coming back to tell people to true.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 52:52[SPEAKER_01]: And it's true to the matter is real estate developers are extremely busy.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I have a big team.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: I am grateful.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to my team that makes me look amazing all the time.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_01]: But if I was just a one man show, I wouldn't be able to
- 53:06[SPEAKER_01]: do this, you know?
- 53:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so the live experience, like for instance, you know, um, we just created what's called the investor arena, okay?
- 53:15[SPEAKER_01]: And in this investor arena, it is so strategic.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_01]: I got major investors in this arena.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_01]: I got real buyers in this arena.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_01]: I got people with real deals in this arena, and I got real underwriters in this arena.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_01]: So you got people that's underwriting
- 53:34[SPEAKER_01]: capital in this room and you got people that got an opportunity in this room and I said what if everybody can leave with something, a deal, a deal or maybe they got direction or maybe they got a partnership or maybe they got you know funding like what if everybody have a chance of an opportunity to leave with something in this arena and so I'm excited
- 54:01[SPEAKER_01]: For me, I'm putting all of my connections and resources in one room and saying, hey, this isn't a arena to go have fun.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: And for two, I was straight.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's intentional, net work and ain't no getting a room in half.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, how are you doing?
- 54:16[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_01]: No, you have a sheet of paper.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_01]: What is your deal?
- 54:19[SPEAKER_01]: What are you looking for?
- 54:21[SPEAKER_01]: Boom, boom, boom, like it's intentional.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like speed dating.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_01]: Except it's investor, it's investor arena where you're going around with this.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_01]: And people, of course, it's gonna know how to vet and do all of these different things.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm been intentional with putting people that's usually out of reach in a room where people that where I started from at the bottom could actually reach.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_01]: If I could do it again, I would want to reach more people that has had the type of success that I've had
- 54:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I love it, I love it, and so now you run it back, right?
- 54:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you have a five-day challenge coming up that we'll put the link in the description.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_00]: But talk about that experience, right?
- 55:01[SPEAKER_00]: I know you said this is really a challenge.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_00]: What transformation?
- 55:08[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, what type of person are you looking for to take that challenge, right?
- 55:12[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think one thing that I've known you so I, so one thing I know about you, you don't play.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_00]: Right, you ain't six feet, but you're damn that act like it, but you don't play, but you're really particular about your energy, the people you want, you want to round you.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_00]: And so I know that even in doing the five day challenge, you like what type of person, what type of energy that you're looking to have in the challenge and then what type of transformation, if they follow all all
- 55:44[SPEAKER_01]: No, absolutely so I hate energy vampires like people like people that are negative people that like you cannot come around me and be comfortable.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_01]: I will make you extremely uncomfortable if you're negative, right?
- 55:58[SPEAKER_01]: And so I kick people out the five day challenge program all the time and send them a send them they refund by get away from me.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason why I do that is because I know how important this room is
- 56:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_01]: And this room has to be protected.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm bringing my CFO, if I'm bringing a praises, if I'm bringing in my entity, guys, set up if I'm bringing in my my lenders in this room, if I'm bringing in my attorneys in this room, if I'm bringing all of these people in this room, this is a very important room that needs to be protected.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_01]: And so
- 56:31[SPEAKER_01]: I tell people, when you sign up for the five day property challenge, you're either in your one of three, you're a launcher which means you own zero to four doors and you're looking to get started, you're eat, are you a builder where you own five to twenty doors and you're looking to break that ceiling to be able to get over that twenty hump and are you a Titan which means you own a hundred plus doors, but you know scale right now is it's crucial for you.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_01]: You have to scale
- 57:00[SPEAKER_01]: because you can't stop where you're at right now.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_01]: And so breaking it down and understanding which category you in and then taking that roadmap.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_01]: Some people have programs where you may start somebody on a roadmap, that's for a beginner, but they actually are tightened and then they don't really get anything from it, right?
- 57:22[SPEAKER_01]: So I can speak to Titan because Titan is somebody who develops from the dirt and build up.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's me, right?
- 57:29[SPEAKER_01]: I can speak to a builder because they're constructing new properties and they're trying to get that portfolio to a place where it's
- 57:37[SPEAKER_01]: where the bans are saying, okay, yeah, you really, really good at it.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I can speak to a beginner because I know what it's like to start with little to no money.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_01]: And so when you take the five days, you're taking your direction, really said it's not a, oh, a one size fit all it is this is where I'm at.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_01]: And this is what my, this is what's holding me back.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of times, what launchers is fear.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_01]: Eight of percent of the time, it's fear.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_01]: They, they fear that they're going to lose all of their money and that everything is going to go really, really bad.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_01]: And then I have to be working another 40 to 50 to 60 years because that's what they tell themselves.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_01]: And then builders, they know and builders are really the easier group because they know that they got to break a ceiling.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so they are there to say, hey, I want to be able to do a deal with you, tea and I want to be able to find somebody to do a deal with in this room and or I'm looking for other deals and I want to speak to a bank that does bridge my nonson because the banks in my area don't offer bridge loans.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
- 58:39[SPEAKER_01]: The tightens are a little bit more challenging because you got a, you know what I'm saying?
- 58:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like,
- 58:44[SPEAKER_01]: telling some old lady that's been doing something 80 years.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, you need to do it this way now, right?
- 58:50[SPEAKER_01]: So a Titan, you kind of got to beat them up a little bit with your portfolio to say, Big Bang Take Little Bang, type personality.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_01]: I can't talk like that with a launch.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_01]: I heard they fill in, but with a Titan, I can say, okay, Big Bang Take Little Bang, let's play.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_01]: Show me what you got to show you what I got.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_01]: Let's match bank accounts.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see if you really play it.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_01]: And if not, listen to the coach.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_01]: I can't do that with the launchers.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_01]: And so the five day property challenge is broken down for the people that's in those different categories.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_01]: And it walks them along the path.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_01]: And so whenever our team come on, they're talking to launchers, builders, and Titans, and they're speaking in the different languages where everybody is leaving what they need.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love that.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I don't need no more convincing.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't need more convincing.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_00]: She has a powerful story from beginning to end.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_00]: She has the receipt.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_00]: We got to get picture of Brits who we have put it.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_00]: We got to put it in the episode because she got here.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_00]: She got to receive with her as well.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a beautiful thing to hear that, though, to have someone that's with you, somebody that's been through the ups and the downs, and then the fact that, you know, regardless of what the enemy tried to do to stop you, right?
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_00]: God had something way bigger plan for you and continues, right?
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't have anything to do.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, finish, finish.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_00]: Is there anything in this episode?
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_00]: Can we go on with you guys?
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_00]: Do another one, right?
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_00]: Is there anything in this episode?
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_00]: Anything that a question that I didn't ask, you're like, you're asked.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted you to talk about this.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_00]: Or is it like a gem that you want to leave our insiders with?
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_01]: Can I do a gem?
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_01]: Stop placing God in a box.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_01]: because we create a box and we expect God to stay inside of it.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_01]: Every time I had the every time it was time for me to level up, I had to be beat up by God.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_01]: Chase down and forced into being able to level up.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's so much easier when you say, God,
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_01]: You you are gyro like you are my provider if you taking me here.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_01]: I release it and and all of this familiarity all of the things that I'm so comfortable with these things that I think I built you have so much more than this if if I think this is your best
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my God, I can't imagine.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_01]: My ceiling is God's footstool.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_01]: So knowing that my ceiling, the height of my career, White House, Black children, names on street signs, all millions of dollars in real estate in, all of these other accolades that people get excited over.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited that my son is his footstool.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't even made it to his knees yet.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_01]: And so for me, I just want to be in that presence and say, I never want to put God in a box again.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_01]: Because every time I place them in a box, I found myself alone because he won't stay in that box with me.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm either going to have to go to where he's at.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to stay stuck and I'm going to start the client and I'm going to start going backwards and then I'm going to start playing the blame game everybody else got this and but and then it just don't work so stop placing God in a box allow him to be gyro of your life allow him to lead you allow him to walk with you allow yourself to believe in yourself because there's so much more that you could be doing your life right now.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_01]: But because you've placed God inside of a box and he have left you there, you are at the top of your ceiling, and you just said his foot.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_01]: Just at his feet.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_00]: I want to talk about this game before we leave though.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think that, you know, this is my personal copy.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_00]: I got this in 2021.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a collector's identity.
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_01]: The collector's identity.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a rapper, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_00]: But I love the concept of it because you were explaining behind the scenes sort of like it's like really it's story like five you start with 5,000 But then within the game and how it's set up there's a I love the concept of this so can you talk a little bit like break it break it down for us a little bit Yeah, absolutely so first of all, let me just I've never said this so this is exclusive for us, okay?
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_01]: I own this word Developers Word
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yeah, you see that TM on that.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_01]: So this is this is my word, right?
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I didn't even know it was available, right?
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, I was like, yo, developers, like, you know, but I'm putting it on a board game and trademarking it.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's my as Patton and it's Patton and other countries as well too.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so long story short though, I had a dream.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_01]: And in this dream, I was surrounded by so many children.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I was at the top of a mountain, but when I was looking down, it was so many children that was staring up at me.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_01]: And it was like, you know, some adult and things like that.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_01]: And what I realized was that I got to the top of my career, but I brought nobody with me.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_01]: And so I realized that dream was teaching me and showing me that I needed to create a way
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I can teach people how to do real estate, but not just teach adults, I can teach children at the same time and make it a fun thing.
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so I woke up the next morning from measuring, I drew out the board game itself, um, meaning that I all the blocks and everything that you see on it, I drew it.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I just went through the paper and I just started writing my journey.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_01]: I started with $5,000 and then boom, I acquired this one property.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_01]: Then I went into multi-family property and then you go into, well, by the block and then multi-family and then commercial and then, you know, you cash out, you get the keys to the city and so just land it out like that.
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a lot more challenging.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_01]: I call it a curriculum in a box.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_01]: because at the end of the day, this is not a 30 minute game.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_01]: You probably be playing four hours.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_01]: But the children, I got videos of children pissed off that they lost.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I got videos of parents jumping up and down because their children are talking about assets and liabilities.
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, all the things I talked about on this podcast that I was spending my money on, like Michael Cores, bags and cold shoes.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_01]: All of those are liability courts inside of the game.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_01]: But you also have asset course that add to your value and so this game is literally my life inside of a box of how I've done what I've been able to do and Depending on if you get good or not, you can actually end this game in an hour.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it's a
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's a key, but, you know, there's that amount of money.
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know if you want to say this on camera, because there's a piece of it that I thought was interesting that you have to go through something in order to get the key to save.
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_00]: You want to say that, or you want to save it for when they play.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_01]: I tell him, yeah.
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_01]: So just in life, right?
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like you really be thinking things going good and you can really overlead yourself if you're not careful, right?
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_01]: In real estate and commitments and whatever the case may be.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so right before you get the keys to the city,
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_01]: You got to, you got to jump over bankruptcy.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_01]: Meaning you have past that level and are you lend on it.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_01]: And if you land on it, you have to start all over again, which is very discouraging and most people quit.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_01]: But the reason why I put that bankruptcy that close to the keys is because that's what most people like this.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_01]: You're in a struggle.
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_01]: It may not be a physical bankruptcy.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_01]: It just may be your storm.
- 1:06:38[SPEAKER_01]: But the keys are right there.
- 1:06:39[SPEAKER_01]: You just got to jump over to the next block to be able to get those keys.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_01]: And even if you have to go around and do it all over again, God would never allow you to skip a test.
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_01]: So you might as well keep playing until you pass the test.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what that means.
- 1:06:54[SPEAKER_00]: Man, and I think that was what was powerful in for me because again, even as I have my transparency moment, it's that, it's like, I'm so afraid to start over.
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of times, I just stay where I met.
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_00]: I stay at this comfort zone because that, and that's the other piece of it, though, too.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know if you can talk about this briefly, but that's the other piece of it, too, is that I truly believe that I have
- 1:07:24[SPEAKER_00]: because I stopped at what's comfortable, right?
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_00]: And so like, oh yeah, you know, I built this and you know, I got a name and I got money, right?
- 1:07:35[SPEAKER_00]: And so to have
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_00]: like as you put it, my ceiling that I'm actually comfortable with, I'm cool, you know, because I remember, you know, you know, living in the process.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_00]: I remember, I remember, and now I got a beautiful family.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_00]: I got, you know, my wife and I've been together for a long time.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, we got two beautiful kids and all the bills are paid and we're doing this to the night and like that, that, that ceiling.
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_00]: which is God's footstool is, I'm stuck because I'm not willing to start over.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_00]: And so even that, right, those people who may not, you know, you know, be hurting, right?
- 1:08:18[SPEAKER_00]: There's actually like a disobedience if you will, with comfort, like you get to a level and now you get comfortable and now you're not listening
- 1:08:33[SPEAKER_00]: Because I have this feeling that if you had to start over you would, especially like everywhere you've been like, what is that is that is that is that truly only a deep a deep connection with God or like how do you how do you get past that and how do you pass it up point where you're like I if we gotta do this we gotta do it
- 1:08:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, absolutely.
- 1:08:54[SPEAKER_01]: So I think everybody have different goals and desires in life, right?
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_01]: So like you're still in may be, and I'm not saying yours, but I'm just saying in general, right?
- 1:09:05[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody's still in may be, I just want to pay all of my bills on time.
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_01]: somebody else selling maybe I want a million dollars in the bank.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody else selling maybe I just want a steady job for the next 12 months, right?
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_01]: And so what I would say though is for those who are very successful and they are and they are comfortable, they're not if you think about it because why you keep asking and doing what you're doing.
- 1:09:34[SPEAKER_01]: If you're comfortable, like you, your bank account may be comfortable, but you're not comfortable.
- 1:09:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_01]: So for me, I believe that's when you know you still have an assignment that you haven't completed.
- 1:09:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:09:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I know, like, when I, and then I said this, I never started to look out for the community.
- 1:09:50[SPEAKER_01]: I've never, I was not into, I'm not going to lie.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't into, like,
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_01]: taking an air by the women.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_01]: I just didn't know that was the even a thing, right?
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I do know I told you I was very successful, but I was depressed.
- 1:10:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I still needed to get through that story.
- 1:10:07[SPEAKER_01]: And now what I understand was that once I got through my story, my test became a testimony.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_01]: So now I've started sharing my testimony more, which has allowed more opportunities to take place.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_01]: But also what used to be my ceiling, which honestly, I felt like I was still missing something.
- 1:10:28[SPEAKER_01]: I was still missing something with my ceiling.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_01]: I knew that I was not doing the assignment that God had for me.
- 1:10:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I had to get back right with God and whoever don't believe in God, I can't answer that, right.
- 1:10:41[SPEAKER_01]: I only can talk to those who are bloodbought.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_01]: Those who know that, you know, God is their provider and God is their God of their life.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_01]: I would say that until you stop saying, I did this and you can look around and say, we did this.
- 1:11:00[SPEAKER_01]: Meaning you taking people every assignment that God has given inside of the Bible has been to save people.
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yes or no.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's been for his people.
- 1:11:09[SPEAKER_01]: And so if you have a talent as
- 1:11:14[SPEAKER_01]: You actually cannot say this.
- 1:11:15[SPEAKER_01]: You have a talent and you just said now you got to prove it because they really don't know you you Like you know what I'm saying, but you really you people that know you know you know you know as You know I'm saying yeah, but that's because of the simple fact you haven't done you haven't done your part of your assignment And so now what everybody about to get is
- 1:11:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be record-breaking.
- 1:11:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like you know what I'm saying, and what you thought with the aculase that you have now is going to be 10 times that because now you're going into your God given the time.
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I ask you Simon, ask you Simon is I'm comfortable.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_01]: I feel good.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_01]: This is familiarality.
- 1:11:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know, kids are good, wife, good life is good.
- 1:11:57[SPEAKER_01]: God of Simon is I am so freaking uncomfortable right now.
- 1:12:01[SPEAKER_01]: I have to do more.
- 1:12:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm called to do more and so I think people based according to what their ceiling is and their relationship with God would determine that.
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_01]: But for me, I know my ceiling is his footstool.
- 1:12:15[SPEAKER_01]: So what does that mean?
- 1:12:16[SPEAKER_01]: It don't have nothing to do with money.
- 1:12:18[SPEAKER_01]: it's how many lies can I help get across the line to be blah, blah, blah.
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's my assignment.
- 1:12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:26[SPEAKER_01]: So when I'm teaching, yeah, I'm going to teach you how to get the bag, but I'm going to teach you how to get the blueprint.
- 1:12:32[SPEAKER_01]: The blueprint is God's print.
- 1:12:34[SPEAKER_01]: The bag just comes with it.
- 1:12:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:36[SPEAKER_00]: You see what I'm saying?
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not going, I'm not going to give you a bag without a blueprint.
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to take me for all of it.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_01]: Or you don't get none at all.
- 1:12:43[SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm, I'm, I'm being fulfilled right now.
- 1:12:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like my heart is happy because of the simple fact that I get to do two things that I love as, I get to teach people about real estate and I get to teach them about God.
