- 1:37Speaker 6: I don't want to just do stuff because I can.
- 1:39Speaker 6: I want to do it when I know I could
- 1:42Speaker 6: do a good job. You know, just saying jack of
- 1:46Speaker 6: all trades master of none is still better than being
- 1:50Speaker 6: a master of one. I don't want to do so
- 1:52Speaker 6: many things that my music, or my acting or the
- 1:56Speaker 6: sports starts to diminish because I'm just spinning too many plates.
- 2:02Speaker 5: And jack of all trades, a master of none is better.
- 2:05Speaker 5: I've never heard anybody say that before.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I never heard the second part. They heard second part.
- 2:09Speaker 3: You know, people forget the second part.
- 2:11Speaker 6: They always say, you don't want to be a jack
- 2:13Speaker 6: of all trades and a master of none, but it's
- 2:16Speaker 6: still being It's still better than being a master of
- 2:19Speaker 6: one my graduates from my school being forced bad drop.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Drop drop bad drop.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Yes we are back, Yes, yes, yes, La. This is
- 2:45Speaker 5: going to be a legendary episode. We got one of
- 2:47Speaker 5: the goats in culture ice Q. So much to talk about.
- 2:52Speaker 5: But before we start, I have a big shot to
- 2:54Speaker 5: my brother Baron Davis and the whole Slick team. This
- 2:58Speaker 5: is his studio in Los Ange listening. He was gracious
- 3:01Speaker 5: enough to let us use his facility. So shout out
- 3:05Speaker 5: to Bed and shot out to WTF media yep.
- 3:09Speaker 3: For making the magic happen.
- 3:12Speaker 5: But without further ado, this is somebody who is an
- 3:16Speaker 5: icon in the game, somebody who really needs no introduction.
- 3:20Speaker 5: You know, when you talk about music, when you talk
- 3:23Speaker 5: about film, TV and now sport. Somebody has dominated over
- 3:27Speaker 5: the course of thirty years and revolutionized every single thing
- 3:31Speaker 5: that I just described. Oshay Jackson the legendary.
- 3:37Speaker 3: So they called this a true Westside connection legend in
- 3:40Speaker 3: so many different games.
- 3:41Speaker 5: But has really you know, become a superstar entrepreneur and
- 3:46Speaker 5: spearheaded the Big Three, which is I believe the only
- 3:50Speaker 5: correct me if I'm wrong, the only black owned professional
- 3:53Speaker 5: sports League in America. Yes, congratulations, thank you. Something that
- 3:58Speaker 5: has just taken the whole world by storm, and you know,
- 4:02Speaker 5: about to actually kick off a new season in a
- 4:05Speaker 5: couple of weeks, so we're gonna be talking about that,
- 4:07Speaker 5: We're gonna be talking about the music, entrepreneurship, everything. So
- 4:10Speaker 5: first and foremost, thank you for joining us. Appreciate it,
- 4:12Speaker 5: Thanks for having me.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Man. You know, this is a this is a nice
- 4:16Speaker 3: west side connection.
- 4:18Speaker 5: It's only right, It's only right, the only So, all right,
- 4:22Speaker 5: let's get into this. So the Big Three. Let's go
- 4:25Speaker 5: through it.
- 4:26Speaker 3: First. Let's start the origin.
- 4:27Speaker 5: I know it starts in twenty seventeen, and anybody in
- 4:31Speaker 5: any neighborhood has played three on three basketball, one on one, basketball,
- 4:35Speaker 5: two on two, and three on three. So it's something
- 4:37Speaker 5: that was already familiar to us. But what made you
- 4:41Speaker 5: have the idea to actually take it from the playground
- 4:44Speaker 5: to an arena.
- 4:46Speaker 6: Well, you know, we rewind about two years back to
- 4:51Speaker 6: twenty fifteen is when I started to really look at
- 4:56Speaker 6: the three on three game. I had saw so many
- 4:59Speaker 6: tournaments like Weekend Warrior, put your squad together, come out
- 5:04Speaker 6: and play for you know, Spider Mountain Dew or Nike
- 5:08Speaker 6: or whatever. But it was all amateur outside, you know, nothing,
- 5:15Speaker 6: nothing professional. Then I started looking at three on three,
- 5:18Speaker 6: not just me, but my partner, Jeff Quietness. We started
- 5:23Speaker 6: looking at three on three all over the world. And
- 5:28Speaker 6: to be honest, three on three is played more than
- 5:31Speaker 6: five on five. When you take about you know, you
- 5:34Speaker 6: take every basketball bouncing in the world, most of them
- 5:38Speaker 6: are three on three over five on five, and around
- 5:41Speaker 6: the world.
- 5:41Speaker 3: It's because of infrastructure.
- 5:45Speaker 6: You know, they wasn't and they didn't have, you know,
- 5:49Speaker 6: fifty sixty years of basketball. Now we got seventy five.
- 5:53Speaker 6: But so so they play a lot of three on three.
- 5:57Speaker 6: Realize a lot of kids play three on three. We
- 6:00Speaker 6: all play more three on three than five on five,
- 6:03Speaker 6: you know, in our lifetime. So it all, you know,
- 6:07Speaker 6: it just was right, and there was like a void
- 6:10Speaker 6: in the in the market in a lot of ways.
- 6:13Speaker 6: And you know, if you like me, after the NBA Finals,
- 6:19Speaker 6: you kind of hibernate to to a football start. So
- 6:24Speaker 6: I'm like, yo, this is a nice gap in the
- 6:26Speaker 6: summer where it's like nothing that's really popping. No full
- 6:31Speaker 6: season happens from June to September, but the Big Three
- 6:37Speaker 6: and everything else is mid season or preseason. So we
- 6:42Speaker 6: just felt like this was the perfect sport at the
- 6:46Speaker 6: perfect time. And it's already kind of in our it's
- 6:52Speaker 6: in our DNA to understand three on three.
- 6:57Speaker 4: So after you have the idea, you have to read
- 7:00Speaker 4: a business structure around it.
- 7:01Speaker 3: And so what's that like?
- 7:02Speaker 4: Is when we think three or three were thinking like
- 7:04Speaker 4: people playing in the parks, you're not playing in the parks, yeah,
- 7:07Speaker 4: playing in the actual NBA arenas. So how is that
- 7:10Speaker 4: building the structure around it, getting players to commit to it,
- 7:14Speaker 4: getting coaches, getting sponsors?
- 7:16Speaker 3: What was that like in the beginning.
- 7:19Speaker 6: You know, working and arguing about about rules, uh, working
- 7:25Speaker 6: about business model, you know, just kind of working it
- 7:29Speaker 6: all out, arguing about that stuff.
- 7:30Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, really.
- 7:35Speaker 6: Trying to figure out the best way to introduce this
- 7:38Speaker 6: league and what is this league about? And we felt
- 7:44Speaker 6: like the the Mini All Star Game was the was
- 7:50Speaker 6: the hook. We're gonna go from city to city, gonna
- 7:55Speaker 6: take the whole league. You could see the whole league
- 7:58Speaker 6: if you go to a game and we're gonna bring in,
- 8:02Speaker 6: you know, over one hundred athletes that you know, you know,
- 8:06Speaker 6: probably seventy five percent of them, you know, you've seen
- 8:10Speaker 6: them somewhere or you're actually a fan. So that was
- 8:14Speaker 6: the business model, and we're gonna treat our our players better.
- 8:18Speaker 6: We were gonna give our captains control on who he
- 8:24Speaker 6: plays with, you know, not have a GM, and just
- 8:29Speaker 6: really make it a player's league and be outside the box,
- 8:35Speaker 6: you know, come with our own rules that made our
- 8:38Speaker 6: our game more interesting than if you look at FEEB
- 8:41Speaker 6: three on three, it feels pretty amateursh you know, it
- 8:46Speaker 6: feels like outside pick up game stuff. But we wanted
- 8:51Speaker 6: to do things that would bring us into the arena,
- 8:54Speaker 6: create the atmosphere, and create the style of game that
- 8:59Speaker 6: was better to watch and better to play for the
- 9:02Speaker 6: for the players. And so in doing that, you know,
- 9:06Speaker 6: we we mixed it all a part like gumbo, you
- 9:10Speaker 6: know what I'm saying, and uh, and came out with
- 9:14Speaker 6: the Big three and for the last three four years
- 9:18Speaker 6: we've really been tweaking it and adjusting it, so all
- 9:23Speaker 6: the games are interesting.
- 9:25Speaker 3: You're never out of a game.
- 9:26Speaker 6: You can always come back because of the rules that
- 9:29Speaker 6: we've laid down.
- 9:31Speaker 3: You know.
- 9:31Speaker 6: Our four point circle is to me necessary and innovative
- 9:39Speaker 6: and smart. Bring the fire, you know, one of our
- 9:43Speaker 6: rules where you could challenge a file. Once a half,
- 9:47Speaker 6: you could challenge a file and how the players go
- 9:50Speaker 6: one on one if you didn't like the call and
- 9:53Speaker 6: if he, if he make it, it the file count if
- 9:56Speaker 6: you if you, if you stop him, then the file
- 9:59Speaker 6: comes off the the board.
- 10:01Speaker 3: You know.
- 10:01Speaker 6: It's things like that that we can do in the
- 10:04Speaker 6: three on three game that you can't quite do in
- 10:07Speaker 6: the five and five game, and it makes our game unique.
- 10:10Speaker 5: So, speaking of the business model, how is it because
- 10:14Speaker 5: like the NBA for instance, or any sports league is
- 10:18Speaker 5: owned by the owners in each team, they own the
- 10:22Speaker 5: team obviously, and they hired a commissioner. Well, you guys
- 10:26Speaker 5: have full ownership of the league, right, it's different just
- 10:28Speaker 5: like the team, there's no ownership in the teams.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Not yet.
- 10:32Speaker 6: We're starting to move to that model now, you know,
- 10:35Speaker 6: we're in talks with a few one MLB owner, another
- 10:40Speaker 6: former NBA owner to buy teams. But we did start
- 10:44Speaker 6: with the you know, kind of like a NASCAR or
- 10:49Speaker 6: UFC or something. You know, we wanted to make sure
- 10:52Speaker 6: that we could calibrate the league before we started to
- 10:57Speaker 6: sell teams to owners, because we wanted the league to
- 11:01Speaker 6: work and we didn't want, you know, too much interference
- 11:05Speaker 6: with our adjustments. And I think we're at a point
- 11:10Speaker 6: where it's time to take these teams and put them
- 11:14Speaker 6: in cities with owners. But this year we're still going
- 11:19Speaker 6: to go with the the with owning the whole league
- 11:23Speaker 6: and getting another season like that under our belt before
- 11:27Speaker 6: we start.
- 11:28Speaker 5: So you would prefer to have different people owning different teams.
- 11:32Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, that's the growth of the league. You know,
- 11:34Speaker 6: that's us owning the league. You know, in its entirety
- 11:38Speaker 6: forever was never realistic or never you know, our plan.
- 11:44Speaker 6: Our plan was to get the league, make sure it
- 11:47Speaker 6: worked from all angles, and then start selling teams then expand.
- 11:56Speaker 6: So that's where we are when that process right now.
- 12:00Speaker 4: I feel like the last time, especially our generation, i've
- 12:02Speaker 4: seen a basketball movement travel like this, it was and One.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Right, So when I look at your model, I'm thinking, like,
- 12:08Speaker 4: was there influencing that? Because when we were watching that,
- 12:11Speaker 4: we were rooting for an one and then we started
- 12:13Speaker 4: to find out who the players were and then we
- 12:15Speaker 4: run for them. And so I see something very similar
- 12:18Speaker 4: here where it's let's root for the league and now
- 12:21Speaker 4: we have teams. Obviously we see trilogy is Dominats and
- 12:24Speaker 4: that we can find guys inside of there, like, all right,
- 12:26Speaker 4: these are the players.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Was that the biggest influencing model that you were looking at?
- 12:29Speaker 6: One of them I also played in in the NBA
- 12:34Speaker 6: had something called the Entertainment.
- 12:35Speaker 3: League, the NBA E League. Yeah yeah out here and
- 12:40Speaker 3: U last week. Yeah yeah, So.
- 12:45Speaker 6: So you know, they they would they would gather a
- 12:47Speaker 6: few of us and go play in Phoenix or go
- 12:51Speaker 6: play in you know, Oakland or whatever, you know, and
- 12:55Speaker 6: it was cool because people would.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Come out and check it out. So I was like, Yo,
- 12:59Speaker 3: this model.
- 13:00Speaker 6: It's pretty cool going from city to city, especially with
- 13:04Speaker 6: something like this because you're kind of introducing people to
- 13:08Speaker 6: the game. And I mean, seeing the seven footed play
- 13:12Speaker 6: three on three basketball in person is there's a whole
- 13:17Speaker 6: other experience that I don't think you would ever forget.
- 13:19Speaker 6: So so we want to go from city to city
- 13:24Speaker 6: and then pretty soon, you know, these these teams will
- 13:27Speaker 6: land in their own cities and we'll go there most
- 13:30Speaker 6: of the time.
- 13:31Speaker 5: The great thing about three on three, because I played
- 13:32Speaker 5: basketball my whole life, a lot of people don't notice
- 13:35Speaker 5: three on three is actually a different game than five
- 13:37Speaker 5: on five.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Remembered Prinshaw. We had we knew this kid, We knew
- 13:41Speaker 3: this guy out.
- 13:43Speaker 5: He wasn't the most athletic, he probably wasn't the best
- 13:45Speaker 5: on five on five, but he's pretty virtually unstoppable three
- 13:47Speaker 5: on three. Yeah, So it's like I think that it's
- 13:52Speaker 5: actually introducing a whole new way. Like even if you
- 13:55Speaker 5: when you see the Olympics introduced I want to actual
- 13:58Speaker 5: your thoughts on that. But it's not the same experience
- 14:02Speaker 5: as a basketball fan. You can go to a five
- 14:04Speaker 5: on five game, but if you're watching a half court
- 14:06Speaker 5: three on three game, it's not the same.
- 14:09Speaker 6: It's different, definitely not the same. Different skill sets, you know,
- 14:14Speaker 6: And I'm glad you brought that up because we've had
- 14:16Speaker 6: guys who come straight from the NBA and they struggled
- 14:21Speaker 6: in the Big three, and then we've had guys who
- 14:24Speaker 6: didn't make it to the NBA and they shine in
- 14:27Speaker 6: the three on three format because it is a different game.
- 14:31Speaker 6: You know, in five on five you can be a specialist.
- 14:34Speaker 6: You know, you could be defensive stopper, three point shot guy,
- 14:40Speaker 6: run the court, yeah, rebound guy.
- 14:42Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 14:43Speaker 6: You don't have to be able to do too much else,
- 14:45Speaker 6: but come off screens. Let thing three on three and
- 14:49Speaker 6: you have no nowhere to hide. You have to be
- 14:53Speaker 6: able to pass, dribble, shoot, and defend or you're gonna
- 14:56Speaker 6: get embarrassed. So you got to have all the around
- 15:00Speaker 6: basketball skills to be successful in three on three because
- 15:05Speaker 6: it's not the help coming, it's not the screens coming,
- 15:08Speaker 6: it's you know, it's it's it's mono E mono pretty much.
- 15:11Speaker 3: You got a man up. Yeah, what are your thoughts
- 15:15Speaker 3: on I mean, I saw it.
- 15:16Speaker 4: I watched it in the Olympics this year, but as
- 15:18Speaker 4: you're creating this league, it's becoming something. And I feel
- 15:20Speaker 4: like overseas we watched three on three the time, Like
- 15:22Speaker 4: I see the highlights, it's always the three. It's never
- 15:24Speaker 4: five on five when I watched highlights from overseas. So
- 15:26Speaker 4: when you see it becoming an Olympics export, what are
- 15:29Speaker 4: your thoughts?
- 15:30Speaker 3: You feel like the impact is growing, but do you
- 15:33Speaker 3: think you're responsible for that? Both?
- 15:35Speaker 6: Right, Well, we did announce before they announced that it
- 15:38Speaker 6: was an Olympics, so I got to say that we
- 15:42Speaker 6: we we spark something hopefully, but you never know. I
- 15:46Speaker 6: think it's two different types of game, like you have
- 15:50Speaker 6: the NBA and then you have the Olympic five on five.
- 15:54Speaker 6: It's it's two different styles. Same with with FEEB three
- 16:00Speaker 6: three and the Big Three. You know, they're they have
- 16:06Speaker 6: the amateur version of the game that they do very well,
- 16:11Speaker 6: and we have the pro version of the game. We
- 16:14Speaker 6: actually had a few Olympians coming play in the league.
- 16:18Speaker 6: They played for the Aliens, and so we just feel
- 16:23Speaker 6: like it's two different experiences. Although you know that doesn't
- 16:29Speaker 6: hurt what we're doing at all because it just puts
- 16:32Speaker 6: more attention that that three on three basketball is worth
- 16:37Speaker 6: your time and you know, your your your effort and
- 16:42Speaker 6: your your money to pay attention and and and love.
- 16:46Speaker 3: The sport, you know.
- 16:47Speaker 5: So let's talk about overseas expansion. That's something that all
- 16:51Speaker 5: the major sports leagues have done. NFL, I think the
- 16:54Speaker 5: Jacksonville Jaguars' playing two games in London this year, and
- 16:57Speaker 5: they've had NBA games in France, and they of course
- 17:00Speaker 5: London is NBA Africa. So you for the first time
- 17:04Speaker 5: Big Three is going to be at the O two
- 17:06Speaker 5: arena champion and all slow game rights.
- 17:08Speaker 3: That's maje.
- 17:09Speaker 5: So obviously you're doing that intentionally, right, So what's the
- 17:13Speaker 5: plans for overseas growth and how does that fit into
- 17:16Speaker 5: the business model.
- 17:18Speaker 6: Oh, you know, we've always had our vision overseas, not
- 17:23Speaker 6: only Europe, but Asia, and you know, to me, it's
- 17:28Speaker 6: it's part of growing the league. You want to you
- 17:33Speaker 6: want to be worldwide and you know basketball, boxing or UFC,
- 17:42Speaker 6: you know, MMA and soccer are the three things that
- 17:47Speaker 6: translate all over the world. And so we had our
- 17:52Speaker 6: game in Toronto in twenty nineteen, I believe right eighteen.
- 17:57Speaker 6: We did our championship in the Hamas in twenty twenty one,
- 18:03Speaker 6: and so going to London is you know, a great
- 18:08Speaker 6: statement for the league. You know, we're not only taking
- 18:10Speaker 6: our championship game over there, but like you said, our
- 18:13Speaker 6: all star game, so you'll be able to see the
- 18:16Speaker 6: best that the Big Three has to offer.
- 18:18Speaker 3: It, you know, in London.
- 18:21Speaker 6: And you know, we have a vision of of making
- 18:25Speaker 6: what's called the Big Cup and have each country submitted
- 18:29Speaker 6: team and see who got the best.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Three players in the world.
- 18:34Speaker 6: We also would mind if a owner bought a team
- 18:38Speaker 6: and put it in London. You know, by us playing
- 18:41Speaker 6: once a week, we have time for to travel. You know,
- 18:44Speaker 6: it's we can play anywhere in the world. So that's
- 18:49Speaker 6: another advantage of the league.
- 18:51Speaker 4: That makes the true world champion right when you do
- 18:53Speaker 4: that without a doubt. Another way to help the league
- 18:56Speaker 4: grow is having exposure. And for a while and when
- 19:00Speaker 4: the league started, we could watch it on CBS, I know,
- 19:02Speaker 4: DOWB there's a structure with paramount plus. What was that
- 19:05Speaker 4: conversation like getting into the networks and trying to convince
- 19:08Speaker 4: them that this is something that is worth picking up
- 19:11Speaker 4: and how it's going to scale going forward.
- 19:14Speaker 3: It was a it was a big part of the league.
- 19:18Speaker 6: You know, we understand, you know, we could have you know,
- 19:21Speaker 6: went straight to a streamer and got a check and
- 19:24Speaker 6: did it like that. But to be able to put
- 19:27Speaker 6: it on a major network. For the first two years
- 19:30Speaker 6: we were on We're on Fox. First it was on
- 19:33Speaker 6: FS one and and and then we got some of
- 19:38Speaker 6: the games on Big Fox.
- 19:40Speaker 3: But we've been with CBS for three years.
- 19:42Speaker 6: It's our fourth year and you know, half the games
- 19:46Speaker 6: are on CBS, which is which is great. You know,
- 19:50Speaker 6: it's it's great with growing the league. Our our ratings
- 19:55Speaker 6: are better than NHL MLS. You know, they have more games,
- 20:01Speaker 6: but you know, we have a constant amount of people watching,
- 20:07Speaker 6: you know, which is which is damn good for the league.
- 20:11Speaker 6: That's only been around six years, so you know we're
- 20:15Speaker 6: trending in the right direction. We're back on CBS this
- 20:18Speaker 6: year and Paramount plus.
- 20:21Speaker 4: The inspiration from others drives us forward. Their resilience pushes
- 20:25Speaker 4: us to excel, and their path navigates the way towards freedom.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Ford is proud to celebrate Black History, not just this month,
- 20:33Speaker 4: but year round. They're committed to being the fuel for change,
- 20:36Speaker 4: supporting Ford Fund program centered around economic, educational, and empowerment
- 20:42Speaker 4: opportunities for our communities to continue creating the future. Learn
- 20:46Speaker 4: more at fordfund dot org. Built Ford Proud.
- 20:51Speaker 6: We are working out our second platform, so half the
- 20:55Speaker 6: games will be on CBS. Half the games will be
- 20:57Speaker 6: on the second platform. And to me, that's the best
- 21:02Speaker 6: way to grow to the league is to stay on
- 21:04Speaker 6: network television.
- 21:06Speaker 5: So so you said somewhere that you had higher ratings
- 21:09Speaker 5: than like NASCAR.
- 21:11Speaker 3: No, MLS, NHL. Okay, yeah, so correct me if I'm wrong.
- 21:18Speaker 5: As a as a sports league, you make money off
- 21:22Speaker 5: of being on television, ticket sales obviously to the games,
- 21:28Speaker 5: and then merchandise variety of all this stuff, Right, sponsorships, sponsorships, Yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 5: of course, yeah, those are the four big things.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:38Speaker 5: So all right, so how has that gone from you?
- 21:42Speaker 5: How has that going for you so far as far
- 21:44Speaker 5: as to work with corporate brands to scale up and
- 21:47Speaker 5: you've got good ratings to you know, work out different deals.
- 21:50Speaker 5: Is like doing one off with these TV situations or
- 21:53Speaker 5: is it like three year deals or ten year deals
- 21:55Speaker 5: and like kind of projecting it in the future.
- 21:59Speaker 6: Well, you know, our deal with CBS was a two
- 22:02Speaker 6: year deal and they re reupted, so and with brands
- 22:09Speaker 6: it varies, you know, summer three year. You know, our
- 22:12Speaker 6: first deal with where the DTAs was a five year deal.
- 22:17Speaker 6: It just varies. And you know, the craziest thing was
- 22:21Speaker 6: to have this league during the pandemic because you know,
- 22:26Speaker 6: everything you know, kind of went back to square one
- 22:30Speaker 6: until we kind of built it back up because.
- 22:33Speaker 3: All brands were.
- 22:37Speaker 6: They were just calibrating and redoing their business models on
- 22:41Speaker 6: how they approached advertising. Some brands realized during the pandemic
- 22:46Speaker 6: they didn't have to advertise a lot because they were
- 22:48Speaker 6: still selling out of their products. So you know, we
- 22:52Speaker 6: had to live through that, adjust through that, and you
- 22:57Speaker 6: know what's great is we're getting more more corporate sponsors,
- 23:02Speaker 6: you know every year. We got more this year than
- 23:07Speaker 6: we had last year and we still haven't started the season,
- 23:10Speaker 6: so we're hoping more come in.
- 23:13Speaker 3: But that's to me, you know.
- 23:14Speaker 6: The the constant fight when you have a league, you know,
- 23:19Speaker 6: brands will come in and go out, you know, so
- 23:23Speaker 6: you know the thing is to be around long enough
- 23:25Speaker 6: to get those five and ten year deals is the key.
- 23:30Speaker 4: They talk about, you know, leveraging your celebrity because I
- 23:34Speaker 4: remember that when the lead first started, we were watching
- 23:37Speaker 4: the games, but there was a marketing campaign behind it.
- 23:39Speaker 3: You didn't know who you were going to see sit
- 23:41Speaker 3: in front row.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Yeah, so how did you better to approach people like, hey,
- 23:45Speaker 4: this is something you gotta see because i'm watching the
- 23:47Speaker 4: gains away.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Is that so and so saying front row? Yeah, well
- 23:51Speaker 3: we wanted to.
- 23:51Speaker 6: You know, we come from entertainment, so we knew the
- 23:55Speaker 6: games have to be you know, dead serious, but everything
- 23:59Speaker 6: else we can have fun with and we can encourage
- 24:05Speaker 6: all our friends people. We know, we can encourage this
- 24:08Speaker 6: to be the place to be in the city. You know,
- 24:10Speaker 6: when we come to town, you know, it's really a
- 24:14Speaker 6: cool experience. It's different than the NBA, because when you
- 24:19Speaker 6: come to a Big Three game, it's not just the
- 24:22Speaker 6: corporate guys hanging out. You know, you got whole families there.
- 24:26Speaker 6: You know, you got people bringing their kids and the
- 24:30Speaker 6: neighbors kids, you know what I'm saying. So it's that
- 24:33Speaker 6: fun atmosphere. Nobody gonna tackle you if you run down
- 24:37Speaker 6: to get an autograph from Doctor J.
- 24:39Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 24:39Speaker 6: It's like, it's like that on purpose, you know, I
- 24:43Speaker 6: wanted it to be fun and different than than.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Just your typical NBA game, which pretty standard. You know,
- 24:51Speaker 3: it's about Web three.
- 24:52Speaker 5: I know you guys have a Web three Project Forever
- 24:55Speaker 5: Experience Action Token.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Yeah, so yeah, what's the deal with that?
- 25:01Speaker 6: Well, you know, when n f TS came out, a
- 25:04Speaker 6: lot of people didn't understand what they were a lot
- 25:07Speaker 6: of people, you know, it was like, yo, why would
- 25:10Speaker 6: why would you sell digital art?
- 25:12Speaker 3: Who was buying that?
- 25:14Speaker 6: And so the next step in the n f TS
- 25:17Speaker 6: was was utilities, like being able to buy this n
- 25:21Speaker 6: f T and have physical and real things that you
- 25:24Speaker 6: can do with it and not just be a piece
- 25:28Speaker 6: of art.
- 25:29Speaker 3: And so what we what we came.
- 25:32Speaker 6: Up with was was a FEAT which is giving people
- 25:38Speaker 6: ownership like experience, Like if you was the owner, you
- 25:41Speaker 6: would you would have special parking, you would have you know,
- 25:46Speaker 6: v I P treatment. You know, you would have access
- 25:49Speaker 6: to practices and you know, the players and and and
- 25:54Speaker 6: and the functions and the parties and the things that
- 25:57Speaker 6: we do. And so that's what we offered. You know,
- 26:00Speaker 6: we offered our NFTs, but they were real things that.
- 26:05Speaker 3: You can do.
- 26:06Speaker 6: You know, you can you know, own a piece of
- 26:09Speaker 6: a team and and be treated like our owner.
- 26:13Speaker 4: When I look at the league, I look at the
- 26:15Speaker 4: player of retention, and so it makes me want to
- 26:18Speaker 4: how were the contract structure with the players season by
- 26:21Speaker 4: season or is it multi year? Because I mean I've
- 26:24Speaker 4: seen James White play almost every year.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Yeah you had ice old.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Joe killing and I mean he's he's probably gonna be
- 26:30Speaker 4: in there big three hole things.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Without a doubt. So how does that work with the players?
- 26:35Speaker 3: How do you structure contracts?
- 26:36Speaker 6: Will usually sign one or two year contracts. You know,
- 26:42Speaker 6: it's depending on success. You know, if you're winning, that's
- 26:46Speaker 6: my fun. So but if you're winning, you know we
- 26:49Speaker 6: want you back. If you're not winning, then we may
- 26:54Speaker 6: make a move here and there. You know, it's really
- 26:56Speaker 6: about and how long you been with your squad and
- 26:58Speaker 6: your team, you.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Know what I'm saying like that, that's uh, you.
- 27:03Speaker 6: Know, if you've been there a while and you i
- 27:05Speaker 6: ain't really got over the hump, we may make a change.
- 27:08Speaker 6: And what happens is we picked the player captain and
- 27:11Speaker 6: he gets to pick who he wants to play with,
- 27:14Speaker 6: So the Coke captains are his choice. And then and
- 27:18Speaker 6: then they draft two players from from the combine to
- 27:23Speaker 6: make up the rest of the roster.
- 27:25Speaker 3: And so.
- 27:28Speaker 6: You know, we have certain rules though too that if
- 27:31Speaker 6: you win the championship, that same squad has to return
- 27:36Speaker 6: to defend, and the runner up team they can return
- 27:42Speaker 6: with the same squad too, but they have to send
- 27:45Speaker 6: one player.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Back to the draft pool and pick a new player.
- 27:50Speaker 6: And then everybody else, the captains and Coke captains stay
- 27:55Speaker 6: the same, but all they draft players got to go
- 27:57Speaker 6: back to the pool and get they gotta you know,
- 28:00Speaker 6: reupp you know, if you're not winning, you gotta reup.
- 28:04Speaker 3: So that's pretty much how it goes.
- 28:06Speaker 6: So James White, they've they've you know, one have gotten
- 28:11Speaker 6: to the playoffs or the championship and so you know
- 28:15Speaker 6: he he's there. You know what I'm saying, there's no
- 28:18Speaker 6: reason to pull him because they've been winning the championship.
- 28:22Speaker 4: You know, shout out to Stephen Jackson.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 28:26Speaker 5: But there's been a lot of talk lately about player
- 28:29Speaker 5: conduct from the NBA side, right, And I want to
- 28:34Speaker 5: talk about this John Morant situation because I see a
- 28:37Speaker 5: lot of people like, well, he has a right to
- 28:39Speaker 5: bear arms, but then it's like, well he works for
- 28:41Speaker 5: a private organization. So have you ever had any issues
- 28:45Speaker 5: with your league as far as player conduct and what's
- 28:48Speaker 5: your personal thoughts on specifically the John Morant situation.
- 28:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, we want players to conduct themselves in
- 28:56Speaker 6: a professional Manner's cool. We're dealing with players that's older,
- 29:02Speaker 6: you know, been around the game a little bit. You know,
- 29:05Speaker 6: we're not dealing with kids. You know, we're twenty two
- 29:07Speaker 6: one up. So you know, we want we want people
- 29:13Speaker 6: to conduct themselves in the right way. We're not going
- 29:16Speaker 6: to micromanage our players though, you know at a certain point,
- 29:20Speaker 6: you know, what they do outside of the league is
- 29:23Speaker 6: pretty much their business. But the NBA is a different
- 29:28Speaker 6: you know, it's a different league. They got different standards,
- 29:34Speaker 6: you know, I just want him to be treated like
- 29:37Speaker 6: other players that's brandished guns on you know, on pictures
- 29:45Speaker 6: or whatever.
- 29:48Speaker 3: You know, So it's complicated.
- 29:51Speaker 6: You know, it's like it's like marijuana, you know what
- 29:54Speaker 6: I'm saying, Like you're in a state that that, uh,
- 30:00Speaker 6: it's legal for recreational use. Do you suspend a guy
- 30:04Speaker 6: on camera smoking a blunt? You know, it's real tricky.
- 30:10Speaker 6: So you know, I just think you just take everything
- 30:13Speaker 6: in consideration. It doesn't help his brand, and I think
- 30:19Speaker 6: he should consider that. You know that little five minutes
- 30:25Speaker 6: of being cool with your homies, it don't do nothing
- 30:28Speaker 6: for you. Don't do nothing for you, you know, so
- 30:33Speaker 6: probably should put the guns down. You probably don't want
- 30:35Speaker 6: to need a gun. You know, in this life, you
- 30:40Speaker 6: don't want to need a gun. So I'm saying, so,
- 30:44Speaker 6: you know, playing with it is ridiculous.
- 30:49Speaker 3: You shouldn't play with guns period.
- 30:51Speaker 4: You brought my water and so it made me think
- 30:53Speaker 4: of being a league first because you were the first
- 30:56Speaker 4: league to accept marriwater and CBD. It's something that you
- 31:00Speaker 4: can use inside of the league. You also the first
- 31:03Speaker 4: with a four point play. Yeah, first a female coach
- 31:07Speaker 4: yep to lead a team. Were the first embrace mental
- 31:11Speaker 4: health first to embrace metals. So being in the league
- 31:13Speaker 4: at first, you're setting trends and I'm wondering what.
- 31:16Speaker 3: The relationship is like with the other league.
- 31:18Speaker 4: Right, we brought up the NBA, So is there a
- 31:21Speaker 4: positive relationship there where they're watching what you guys do
- 31:23Speaker 4: when it's saying like, maybe these are some of the
- 31:24Speaker 4: things that we can now accept, do you feel like
- 31:27Speaker 4: you're setting those trends in that way?
- 31:29Speaker 6: I mean, I think they're taking things that we're doing
- 31:33Speaker 6: and watching us, and we're you know, somewhat guinea pig
- 31:37Speaker 6: for it. But you know, we've taken some things from
- 31:42Speaker 6: the NBA too, so we understand that. I think I
- 31:47Speaker 6: don't think they like the fact that we change the
- 31:49Speaker 6: game without acts. We do what's best for the Big Three,
- 31:54Speaker 6: and they might not dig that because they have a
- 31:58Speaker 6: business model. You know, their players watch what we do,
- 32:03Speaker 6: and you know they they may want to be the
- 32:07Speaker 6: only ones to change the game, but it's too late.
- 32:12Speaker 5: So I have a theory that virtual reality is going
- 32:15Speaker 5: to change sports because I feel like it just makes
- 32:19Speaker 5: complete sense, Like if you could pay to actually put
- 32:23Speaker 5: a headset on and like be front row with Avontae
- 32:26Speaker 5: Davis throwing punches or Lebron or whatever. Right, Like, I
- 32:30Speaker 5: feel like virtual reality is gonna be big period. But
- 32:33Speaker 5: I feel like sports, particularly basketball, football, and boxing.
- 32:39Speaker 3: So how do you feel about that?
- 32:41Speaker 5: And is that something that you would incorporate in your
- 32:43Speaker 5: league as far as to have, like not right now,
- 32:46Speaker 5: but in the future a virtual reality component where people
- 32:49Speaker 5: can actually pay and have a virtual reality experience from home.
- 32:54Speaker 6: Yeah, without a doubt. You know, however, they want to
- 32:56Speaker 6: experience the Big Three. You know, it's a challenge to
- 33:02Speaker 6: get ten twelve thousand people in an arena and you're
- 33:05Speaker 6: free on TV. So you know, some people gonna want
- 33:10Speaker 6: to watch it at home. Like me, I prefer watching
- 33:14Speaker 6: boxing at home. You know, I've been to a couple
- 33:16Speaker 6: of matches and shit, if you blink so so, and
- 33:21Speaker 6: you know, I like the announcers, I like the angles,
- 33:24Speaker 6: I like the replays, I like all that. So you
- 33:28Speaker 6: know that doesn't make me, you know, less of a
- 33:31Speaker 6: boxing fan. So so people gonna have a on preference.
- 33:38Speaker 6: And you know, we would be crazy to try to
- 33:41Speaker 6: shun the technology that's available for people to experience the
- 33:47Speaker 6: Big Three because it's all about eyeballs now, you know,
- 33:51Speaker 6: it's all about as many people seeing the game, you know,
- 33:56Speaker 6: loving the game for UH and staying interested in the game.
- 34:01Speaker 6: That's the most important thing right now, you know, making
- 34:05Speaker 6: money off tickets, getting a big contract for streaming and
- 34:12Speaker 6: all these. To me, it's not the way to blow
- 34:16Speaker 6: up the league. The way to blow up the league
- 34:19Speaker 6: is eyeballs. Eyeballs, eyeballs, and so we'll do whatever it
- 34:24Speaker 6: takes to get those eyeballs on us, you know, whether
- 34:27Speaker 6: you come watch on TV or virtually.
- 34:31Speaker 4: One of the things when you're creating some innovative and
- 34:33Speaker 4: this is something we've learned, is you got to document
- 34:36Speaker 4: the process.
- 34:37Speaker 3: You document it all.
- 34:37Speaker 4: And so I know you're working with Jesse Collins Entertainment,
- 34:40Speaker 4: who is phenomenal in covering especially US, cover us in
- 34:44Speaker 4: the right man. So talk about that because I know
- 34:47Speaker 4: a lot of it is built around some of the
- 34:49Speaker 4: challenges that it took you to get to this point
- 34:51Speaker 4: with the league.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Without a doubt.
- 34:52Speaker 6: Man, you know, people wouldn't understand how hard it's been
- 34:57Speaker 6: these last seven years because of the obstacles, and not
- 35:03Speaker 6: only obstacles from the outside, but obstacles within, you know,
- 35:08Speaker 6: dealing with with with UH, with you know, people who
- 35:14Speaker 6: have ulterior motives for the league, you know, and and
- 35:17Speaker 6: so you know it's been it's been a challenge, but
- 35:22Speaker 6: you know, we up for it. You know, we kind
- 35:24Speaker 6: of knew it wasn't gonna be a cakewalk that you know,
- 35:30Speaker 6: starting the league from scratch is virtually impossible because so
- 35:38Speaker 6: many things got to go right and and you can
- 35:43Speaker 6: get attention, but keeping it here is a is another animal.
- 35:47Speaker 3: So it's been a challenge.
- 35:50Speaker 6: But but uh, I think people dig it another players
- 35:55Speaker 6: love it. I know fans love it. And to me,
- 36:00Speaker 6: I wouldn't want to do anything else right now, you know,
- 36:04Speaker 6: another movie, another record, like you know, I could do that,
- 36:07Speaker 6: but this right here is something that's huge and humongous,
- 36:12Speaker 6: and so.
- 36:16Speaker 3: This is where I want to be.
- 36:17Speaker 5: So I want to ask you about Hollywood actually, because
- 36:21Speaker 5: you start in music and become a superstar and then
- 36:26Speaker 5: you're just going a crazy run in Hollywood. But so director, producer, screenwriter,
- 36:33Speaker 5: and actor. You actually have done all of the four
- 36:37Speaker 5: I believe one movie you did all fours Players Club, right,
- 36:40Speaker 5: So when you first starting in Hollywood, Boys and the
- 36:44Speaker 5: Hoods your first movie, yep, classic, that's classic.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Classic. So hey, I got all right, let's start there.
- 36:49Speaker 5: When you're doing Boys in the Hood, do you in
- 36:52Speaker 5: your mind know like this is something that is going
- 36:56Speaker 5: to be a game changer.
- 36:59Speaker 3: No. Nah.
- 37:01Speaker 6: You know, as a matter of fact, when I first
- 37:05Speaker 6: saw the rough cut it, you know, never show somebody
- 37:12Speaker 6: a rough cut if they don't know the process. Because
- 37:17Speaker 6: I was pissed off, you know, I left called my
- 37:20Speaker 6: manager at the time and I was like, we fucked up.
- 37:27Speaker 6: We fucked up doing this movie. It don't even look
- 37:31Speaker 6: like a movie it saw. It feel flat. And she
- 37:38Speaker 6: was like, what you're talking about? I said, John showed
- 37:40Speaker 6: me a piece of it. Well, he showed me the movie,
- 37:43Speaker 6: but it it's unfinished. Look, don't look finished, she said.
- 37:47Speaker 6: Did he say it was finished? I said, no, let
- 37:51Speaker 6: him finish the movie. Let him finish the movie. So
- 37:55Speaker 6: from the time I had seen the rough cut to
- 37:57Speaker 6: the time he showed me to finish movie, I was
- 38:00Speaker 6: pissed off.
- 38:01Speaker 3: You know, I was thinking, man, what didn't you like
- 38:04Speaker 3: about it?
- 38:05Speaker 6: Well, you know, it just didn't have all the sound
- 38:07Speaker 6: effects in it. It didn't have you know, if you
- 38:11Speaker 6: watch a movie without without them sound effects and things,
- 38:15Speaker 6: they feel flat. You know, somebody set the cup down.
- 38:19Speaker 6: You don't hear the fucking cup. You know, like you
- 38:22Speaker 6: see a car go by, you don't hear the car,
- 38:25Speaker 6: you know what I mean. It just seemed like the hell,
- 38:28Speaker 6: WHI is this movie missing sounds?
- 38:30Speaker 3: You know? I know, I see I should be hearing.
- 38:33Speaker 6: But he had to put all that in and he
- 38:35Speaker 6: had to edit it and polish it up, and so
- 38:39Speaker 6: when I seen it finished, then I knew.
- 38:43Speaker 3: I was like, this is some shit.
- 38:44Speaker 6: You know, this is a good ass movie, Like this
- 38:47Speaker 6: is this is something that is gonna It's gonna change
- 38:54Speaker 6: people's outlook on guys that come from our neighborhood. You know,
- 39:00Speaker 6: did you feel that's interesting? Because now I'm thinking about it.
- 39:03Speaker 6: At the time, this is after America's Most Wanted. This
- 39:06Speaker 6: is after well right around the same time as that certificate.
- 39:09Speaker 6: Are you thinking this is a risk because I'm Ice Cube,
- 39:12Speaker 6: the rap star who's from NWA, who has his soul
- 39:15Speaker 6: career that's thriving. Hey, I am trying to act because
- 39:17Speaker 6: at the time, we don't really see too many people
- 39:20Speaker 6: in rap that's acting. Yeah, it's you and you didn't
- 39:24Speaker 6: play play house party. Yeah, yeah, I thought it was
- 39:28Speaker 6: a risk. Ice Team was acting a little bit or
- 39:31Speaker 6: he's in Colors, yep. Yeah, but uh he'sn't Breaking, It's
- 39:35Speaker 6: in Breaking and Ship. But but it was Yeah, I
- 39:41Speaker 6: was like, man, you know, I want to do good.
- 39:45Speaker 6: I'm not an actor, Like kept telling John, I'm not.
- 39:50Speaker 6: I'm not an actor, man, you know, like.
- 39:53Speaker 3: I don't. I don't.
- 39:55Speaker 6: I don't even want to be an actor, you know
- 39:57Speaker 6: what I'm saying. I just wanted to do good in
- 39:59Speaker 6: the movie.
- 40:00Speaker 3: And so.
- 40:02Speaker 6: Taking that attitude and taking that approach, and he helped
- 40:06Speaker 6: me through it.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Lawrence Fishburne helped me through it.
- 40:09Speaker 6: Cuba Gooding, Junior, you know, they are they all you know,
- 40:16Speaker 6: helped me get comfortable with doing that. Like, you know,
- 40:21Speaker 6: you could feel stupid acting, you know what I mean,
- 40:24Speaker 6: Like you got all these people looking and you just
- 40:27Speaker 6: gotta do some some shit that's written down from a
- 40:31Speaker 6: piece of paper and not from your true heart, you know.
- 40:34Speaker 6: So it was an adjustment.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm thinking to myself, now you start boys in
- 40:39Speaker 4: the Hood, John Singleton, invest in Peace, the influence there,
- 40:42Speaker 4: but you come back with Hoigher learning with him again.
- 40:46Speaker 4: So talk about the role he played inside of you,
- 40:48Speaker 4: thinking about screenwriting, producing.
- 40:50Speaker 6: Directing, everything. You know, he discovered me as an actor.
- 40:55Speaker 6: He he he coached me as a as a writer,
- 41:04Speaker 6: and he helped me as a director. Like he actually
- 41:08Speaker 6: came to the set when I was shooting Players Club
- 41:11Speaker 6: and helped me.
- 41:13Speaker 3: This big scene.
- 41:15Speaker 6: I was running out of time and he just helped
- 41:18Speaker 6: me organize it and get his shot. And so he
- 41:22Speaker 6: just he just stopped by to see what was up.
- 41:25Speaker 6: You know, he didn't stop by the work, and he
- 41:29Speaker 6: stayed there with me for six to eight hours to
- 41:32Speaker 6: make sure it just got done right. And so I
- 41:36Speaker 6: really needed him that day. And I appreciated him helping
- 41:41Speaker 6: me because you know, he went to film school, He
- 41:45Speaker 6: went to these things to prepare him.
- 41:48Speaker 3: You know I didn't.
- 41:48Speaker 6: I didn't do nothing but shoot videos and and and
- 41:53Speaker 6: I was on a few movie sets. So he was
- 41:58Speaker 6: my mentor throughout. You know, I wouldn't I wouldn't have
- 42:02Speaker 6: done film and produced and done these things without without John,
- 42:07Speaker 6: you know, basically being a living example and then helping
- 42:12Speaker 6: me when I needed it.
- 42:14Speaker 5: So how do you even have because most people are
- 42:16Speaker 5: you become a successful actor. A lot of people just
- 42:18Speaker 5: stay in that pocket and you could have just been
- 42:20Speaker 5: a successful actor. But like I said, to go screenwriter, producer,
- 42:23Speaker 5: and director. I think the first the first thing that
- 42:26Speaker 5: you wrote was Friday was that.
- 42:27Speaker 3: No, No, that's the third third movie I wrote. Uh.
- 42:30Speaker 3: He he encouraged me to write. He asked me.
- 42:34Speaker 6: You know, I was sitting in his house one day
- 42:35Speaker 6: and he was like, YO, when you're gonna write a movie?
- 42:38Speaker 3: And I'm like, what I said, Man, I'm barely getting
- 42:42Speaker 3: this actor shit right.
- 42:44Speaker 6: He said, you expect every script you get to be
- 42:47Speaker 6: as good as boys in the Hood. That's what he said.
- 42:49Speaker 6: I'm like, I don't know. I mean, Hollywood is full
- 42:53Speaker 6: of trash. Said if you want to do good movies,
- 42:56Speaker 6: you should write them. So and then he said, yo,
- 43:01Speaker 6: if you can write a record like the records you write,
- 43:04Speaker 6: you can write a movie. So that kind of gave
- 43:08Speaker 6: me the encouragement to just start writing. And then he
- 43:13Speaker 6: would help me. You know, I would taking my scripts,
- 43:15Speaker 6: he would read them. No it was trash, but he
- 43:20Speaker 6: would help me get better. And I wrote a script
- 43:25Speaker 6: called America He's Just Young, which is from my old
- 43:29Speaker 6: Funkadelic record, and then I wrote another one called Full Life,
- 43:34Speaker 6: and then I wrote Friday with DJ Pooh legend.
- 43:40Speaker 5: So Friday, you wrote, you wrote that that comes out
- 43:43Speaker 5: classes that changed the games again. Yeah, so this time
- 43:47Speaker 5: you got you're a little bit more seasons in Hollywood
- 43:49Speaker 5: and you actually wrote it. So when you wrote Friday,
- 43:52Speaker 5: did you have an idea that that was gonna be
- 43:54Speaker 5: as big as it turned out to be?
- 43:57Speaker 6: For for for the cool people? You know, I felt like,
- 44:01Speaker 6: we're gonna do a hood movie and not from the hood.
- 44:05Speaker 6: You might not understand what's going on, but that's cool
- 44:08Speaker 6: longest people from the hood know what's going on, because
- 44:11Speaker 6: I felt like everybody I liked in Hollywood that was
- 44:16Speaker 6: black earners.
- 44:16Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 44:17Speaker 4: Listen, EYLU is relaunching, revamping, retooling. That's why we're creating
- 44:22Speaker 4: a new educational experience that's more expensive.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Shy telling.

- 47:02Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 47:06Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 47:10Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas. Man of Venezuelan charged with
- 47:14Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 47:18Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 47:22Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 47:25Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 47:30Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 47:34Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 47:37Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fined nearly
- 47:41Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned, and deported. You will
- 47:45Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 47:49Speaker 1: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump, America's laws
- 47:57Speaker 1: border and families.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Will be protected. Sponsored by the United States Department at
- 48:01Speaker 2: Home and Security.
- 48:03Speaker 6: Had Hood classics, h and I wanted mind, you know,
- 48:08Speaker 6: I mean I had boys in the hood, but I
- 48:09Speaker 6: wanted my own.
- 48:11Speaker 3: So I was, you know, working on that because I was.
- 48:13Speaker 6: Like, get a hood classic, then people always gonna like
- 48:18Speaker 6: this movie and they always gonna hire me as actor
- 48:22Speaker 6: if I ever have to, you know, rely on my
- 48:26Speaker 6: past to get work in the future. So having a
- 48:30Speaker 6: hood classic was was most important.
- 48:34Speaker 4: I think you you might be and sorry, maybe you
- 48:37Speaker 4: can correct me. You might be the only person with
- 48:39Speaker 4: a classic five mic album and a classic movie that's
- 48:42Speaker 4: his What do you think that.
- 48:46Speaker 3: Ever? Yeah, a classic movie that he that he made
- 48:49Speaker 3: that he made the movie.
- 48:51Speaker 4: Yeah, and a classic like well, five mics messed up
- 48:54Speaker 4: that you have five mics, that's a fact. And Friday,
- 48:57Speaker 4: I mean Boys in the Hood of Lowe was a classic.
- 48:59Speaker 4: That's yours. But Frida is yours. Yours?
- 49:01Speaker 3: That might be a new thing.
- 49:03Speaker 4: I'm so that how long did it take to shot
- 49:05Speaker 4: because it was like maybe a couple of days, twenty
- 49:07Speaker 4: days to shoe. So as you're right, there is one thing, right,
- 49:10Speaker 4: but this business side of it, and we've seen it
- 49:12Speaker 4: with production, is you gotta pay these people. Yeah, right,
- 49:17Speaker 4: So who's teaching you about budgets? Like who you need
- 49:20Speaker 4: the lighting? Who's teaching you about that?
- 49:23Speaker 3: Is John as well.
- 49:24Speaker 6: I had a great manager by the name of Pat
- 49:26Speaker 6: Sharponay and she's actually a producer on the Friday movie.
- 49:33Speaker 3: But between.
- 49:36Speaker 6: Her and me, we was just figuring it out, you know,
- 49:41Speaker 6: figuring out who we wanted to use to help us
- 49:46Speaker 6: here and there, and so we just you know, worked
- 49:50Speaker 6: on finding the right crew, you know. But yeah, yeah,
- 49:55Speaker 6: it was really you know, her knowledge of the business
- 49:58Speaker 6: that that helped us get that movie done in twenty days.
- 50:02Speaker 4: So what because it will follow up really quickly because
- 50:05Speaker 4: you alluded to the Players Club. Yeah, but out of
- 50:08Speaker 4: forty films, it's the only one that you have directed,
- 50:10Speaker 4: producer and screenwriter and acted in. Yeah, and did the
- 50:14Speaker 4: soundtrack and did the soundtrack. I'm wondering because why is
- 50:18Speaker 4: that the only one that you did it? Was it
- 50:20Speaker 4: something that you saw from the production side that was like, oh,
- 50:22Speaker 4: directing side that was like this is a lot.
- 50:25Speaker 6: Well, directing kind of takes you out of the game
- 50:30Speaker 6: for about a year, year and a half. You're stuck
- 50:34Speaker 6: on one project, you know, And I didn't want to
- 50:38Speaker 6: be bogged down. So I actually like producing better than directing,
- 50:44Speaker 6: you know. I like to find a director that I
- 50:47Speaker 6: can work with and then produce the movie because I'm
- 50:53Speaker 6: not as bogged down, you know. I can I can
- 50:56Speaker 6: actually produce three movies in the same time as I
- 51:02Speaker 6: could direct one. And so I just felt like I
- 51:08Speaker 6: didn't want to. I don't want to be bogged down
- 51:11Speaker 6: like that again to have to you know, I wrote
- 51:14Speaker 6: the movie, so I was I was on that movie forever,
- 51:17Speaker 6: like writing it, then getting it where somebody wanted to
- 51:22Speaker 6: make it, then casting it, shooting it, editing, doing the soundtrack,
- 51:29Speaker 6: you know, putting it out and commentating the DVD and
- 51:34Speaker 6: you know, so since you look up and it's a
- 51:37Speaker 6: long time on one thing instead of doing multiple.
- 51:43Speaker 5: So speaking of the Friday, was there lessons that you know,
- 51:46Speaker 5: because let me if I'm wrong? Was there issues with
- 51:48Speaker 5: Warner brother because they owned the franchise?
- 51:50Speaker 6: Right, Warner Brothers, they are they distribute the franchise. So
- 51:57Speaker 6: they distributed the first one, and it has in the
- 52:00Speaker 6: contract that they have the right to distribute each one.
- 52:05Speaker 5: So what were their issues trying to make more Fridays?
- 52:09Speaker 5: Like they have to approve something before you could actually
- 52:12Speaker 5: make a Friday.
- 52:13Speaker 3: Yeah, so talk about that.
- 52:15Speaker 6: Well, we you know, we did the first one and
- 52:21Speaker 6: and I wasn't gonna do another one. After that, they
- 52:25Speaker 6: approached me, could you want to think? Could you think
- 52:28Speaker 6: of another one? So I said yeah, And then I
- 52:32Speaker 6: approached Chris Tucker. He didn't want to do it. So
- 52:35Speaker 6: I was like, oh, okay, this is kind of throw
- 52:38Speaker 6: a little monkey wrench in the movie. So so we
- 52:42Speaker 6: did it next Friday with Mike Aps. That was great.
- 52:46Speaker 3: People loved it. Then we did Friday at.
- 52:48Speaker 6: The next and then they asked me to write a
- 52:49Speaker 6: fourth one, and I wrote and they they had.
- 52:56Speaker 3: An issue because.
- 53:00Speaker 6: Craig and Day they ends up in jail from selling weed,
- 53:04Speaker 6: you know, and finally end up in jail, and dee
- 53:07Speaker 6: Bo and the Joker Brothers is trying to you know
- 53:10Speaker 6: what I mean, they in jail too, so they're trying
- 53:12Speaker 6: to you know, trying to you know, stab them up
- 53:16Speaker 6: and shit. So they just was like, Jail's not funny.
- 53:21Speaker 6: You know, nobody, nobody's gonna laugh about being in jail.
- 53:25Speaker 3: I'm like, you ridiculous.
- 53:26Speaker 6: Like then all these movies come out like Oranges New
- 53:31Speaker 6: Black and Let's go to Jail and Life Life and
- 53:35Speaker 6: you know, Get Hard and all this shit, and I'm like, okay,
- 53:39Speaker 6: so y'all definitely don't know what y'are talking about. So
- 53:43Speaker 6: I just kind of, you know, that was in twenty thirteen,
- 53:48Speaker 6: you know, so I just kind of stopped paying attention
- 53:51Speaker 6: to them. Then they asked again, they begged again for
- 53:54Speaker 6: me to write another one.
- 53:56Speaker 3: So I come of, right, one to fit.
- 53:57Speaker 6: This time won't be about jail, and they loved it,
- 54:03Speaker 6: but they just had these little notes that they kept
- 54:07Speaker 6: trying to change things, trying to change it I'm like, dude,
- 54:10Speaker 6: you guys do not know what needs to go on
- 54:13Speaker 6: a Friday movie. Like, stop pretending like you guys are
- 54:18Speaker 6: smart when it comes to this shit. You know what
- 54:20Speaker 6: I mean, I know it, I know it's gonna work.
- 54:23Speaker 6: I know it's not gonna work. And they just kept
- 54:27Speaker 6: messing around. No one knows, back and forth, back and forth,
- 54:31Speaker 6: you know, six months of this shit, and then John
- 54:36Speaker 6: Winsbone pass away, So they like just fucked around till
- 54:41Speaker 6: the man passed away and then Tiny passes away A J.
- 54:46Speaker 3: Johnson. It's like the movie we were gonna go back
- 54:49Speaker 3: on the block.
- 54:51Speaker 6: And so you know, I've been trying to get it,
- 54:55Speaker 6: get control of the franchise.
- 54:58Speaker 3: Since then.
- 54:59Speaker 5: So essentially essentially you wrote to you actually wrote two
- 55:03Speaker 5: more Fridays. Yeah, and that's never came out. Yeah obviously.
- 55:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:08Speaker 5: So you say you're trying to get control of the franchise.
- 55:10Speaker 5: How do you go about trying to get control of
- 55:12Speaker 5: the franchise?
- 55:14Speaker 6: You know, I mean, of course appealing to their superiors
- 55:20Speaker 6: on you know, their basically sleeping on money.
- 55:25Speaker 3: Is it like a buy out thing? Maybe, like if
- 55:27Speaker 3: you pay you can not. I'm not, I'm not. I'm
- 55:31Speaker 3: not gonna pay for it.
- 55:32Speaker 6: I'm not gonna you know, what they need to do
- 55:35Speaker 6: is let me control and they'll make a lot of money,
- 55:37Speaker 6: but they're not gonna make it.
- 55:39Speaker 3: So you're open to doing another one.
- 55:42Speaker 6: I'm open to saying if another one can be done
- 55:47Speaker 6: while you're doing that, While that's happening, there's still other
- 55:50Speaker 6: franchises being created that you're involved in.
- 55:53Speaker 4: Right, So Barbershop, Yeah, it's right there, you have the
- 55:57Speaker 4: Are we there yet?
- 55:58Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 55:59Speaker 4: So now like intrusting family households, I wanted what that
- 56:04Speaker 4: experience was like for you, from Boys of the Hood
- 56:06Speaker 4: to that point, Like there's a generation where it's like, oh,
- 56:08Speaker 4: ice Cube, the guy who makes the kid movies like
- 56:10Speaker 4: I grew up, ice Cube was the dude was telling
- 56:13Speaker 4: us that.
- 56:14Speaker 3: And I was like, yeah, I'm with this, I'm with this.
- 56:15Speaker 3: So how's that transition?
- 56:18Speaker 4: Because we don't see people grow, right, we don't see
- 56:20Speaker 4: our artists grow, we don't see them evolved, and we
- 56:23Speaker 4: don't see them have these moments.
- 56:24Speaker 3: So what was that transition like for you?
- 56:27Speaker 6: It's amazing, you know, to be able to sustain love
- 56:33Speaker 6: and families, and like, once I realized my fans, my
- 56:41Speaker 6: core fans were having kids, and they kids was in
- 56:45Speaker 6: elementary and junior high. I felt like, Okay, it's time
- 56:51Speaker 6: to do something to to make sure I'm still cool
- 56:57Speaker 6: in this household, that household or whatever. The last thing,
- 57:00Speaker 6: I want you to look at your kid and be
- 57:03Speaker 6: like ice cute.
- 57:04Speaker 3: You should you should look him up. He used to
- 57:06Speaker 3: be He used to be cool. You know what I mean.
- 57:08Speaker 3: We used to rock him, you know, he used to
- 57:11Speaker 3: used to use to put this record.
- 57:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:13Speaker 6: So I didn't want to be that guy, you know,
- 57:15Speaker 6: I wanted I wanted the kids to know who I was.
- 57:18Speaker 3: So the way to do that.
- 57:20Speaker 6: Is to do a movie that they love, and that's
- 57:23Speaker 6: always gonna get played, like see, are we there yet?
- 57:29Speaker 6: The kids grow up, they love it, but they outgrow it.
- 57:34Speaker 6: But then there's always new kids coming up who their
- 57:37Speaker 6: parents is like, Yo, sick of you bugging me? Stick
- 57:42Speaker 6: you in front of a movie, put in already there yet?
- 57:44Speaker 6: So the love is generated, you know what I'm saying.
- 57:50Speaker 6: With each with each generation that that watched that movie,
- 57:55Speaker 6: they end up growing up and then they reach a
- 57:57Speaker 6: point where they discover my music, they discover my my,
- 58:02Speaker 6: my other movies and stuff. So it's it's a way
- 58:06Speaker 6: to reach rejuvenate fans and to make sure that that
- 58:11Speaker 6: the youngsters know who you are and they're not just
- 58:15Speaker 6: relying on you should have heard death certificate, you know
- 58:18Speaker 6: what I mean.
- 58:19Speaker 3: You should have heard today was a good day.
- 58:20Speaker 4: Yeah, you've done something very unique inside of that too,
- 58:23Speaker 4: and that's provided opportunities so that that's the first time
- 58:26Speaker 4: we see Eve in the movie.
- 58:27Speaker 3: Ye first time we see NICKI humanas in that type
- 58:29Speaker 3: of throw.
- 58:31Speaker 4: You were super intentional about that, like, given opportunities to people,
- 58:34Speaker 4: especially in the reporld.
- 58:35Speaker 6: If they're great, you know what I mean, if they're good,
- 58:38Speaker 6: if they if they have a personality that I think
- 58:43Speaker 6: people want to see more of. Yeah, you know, it's
- 58:49Speaker 6: really all about being the right person for the role.
- 58:55Speaker 3: And so.
- 58:57Speaker 6: You know, I didn't know they was all gonna work out,
- 59:00Speaker 6: you know what I mean, never know how it's going
- 59:02Speaker 6: to be when they when they actually audition or they
- 59:05Speaker 6: come on set. But yeah, I want to give people
- 59:07Speaker 6: a shot that that Hollywood may be overlooking.
- 59:12Speaker 5: So speaking of Hollywood screenwriters, they're on strike right now.
- 59:16Speaker 5: And this goes back to the Web three conversation where
- 59:19Speaker 5: somebody told me, you know, I just do I started
- 59:21Speaker 5: thinking about it, and I'm like, they might not have
- 59:23Speaker 5: as much leverage this time because of chat GBT, And
- 59:27Speaker 5: it's like, well, if I can have a computer writer
- 59:31Speaker 5: script in a day, then I don't necessarily need a screenwriter.
- 59:36Speaker 3: What's your thoughts on that.
- 59:38Speaker 6: Well, I think, you know, it's something that's very real
- 59:44Speaker 6: and it can happen. Yeah, you can have a computer
- 59:48Speaker 6: write to a script in a day, but you know,
- 59:54Speaker 6: at the end of the day, will it be as
- 59:59Speaker 6: as real as a person writing it.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: Will they have that feel to it? Who knows? You know,
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: it's it's a new world.
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: That's why they don't strike, you know, they want to
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: you know, curve it in some ways.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: The worst thing is for them to tell the studios
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: not to do it, but then they go home and
- 1:00:21Speaker 6: do it when.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: It's time for them to turn in that spread. Yeah, so.
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: You know, at the end of the day, you know,
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: technology is here. Everybody got to make an adjustment. I
- 1:00:39Speaker 6: don't know if I want all my entertainment to you know,
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: come from an artificial source. You know, I may just
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: check out and you know people be scrolling more and
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: looking at real stuff.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: I think that the the hunger for reality is gonna
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: start growing as more and more artificial things take over.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: You know. I even think it's a backlash right now with.
- 1:01:08Speaker 6: Music music because you have a lot of people using
- 1:01:14Speaker 6: auto tunes and they sounding like a computer, and I
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: don't know if people are gonna go for that.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: Did you Amban? Yeah? I did. How do you feel
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: about it?
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: I didn't like it because it's artificial, you know.
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: I mean.
- 1:01:35Speaker 6: I treated like a sample. You know, I can simpleize
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: the Brothers, but not the Brothers. You know, it's just
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: a piece of of how great they are. You know,
- 1:01:48Speaker 6: it's a sample, it's a portion. It's not the it's
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: not the is Brothers. You know, it's my interpretation of that.
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: So I guess you look at this like you would
- 1:02:01Speaker 6: look at sample.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: In terms of the movies and writing, there was a
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: phase when you did the family comedies like the ones
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: we alluded to earlier. You did the Buddy Cops films
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: with twenty one Jump Street and twenty two Jump Street.
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: I remember watching the original show Holly Robinson right along
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: with that.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: Right along with Kevin.
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: Is there a genre or a topic that you feel
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: like you're headed toward that you haven't done.
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: Yet I think I could do more dramas.
- 1:02:30Speaker 6: I mean, I like with the success of my comedies,
- 1:02:37Speaker 6: most people shove comedies in my face. Most movies I
- 1:02:41Speaker 6: get green litter comedy. So you know, I got some
- 1:02:45Speaker 6: dramas in me song.
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: What's that process like of getting at greenld So for
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: most people, they don't even understand. It's like, you write
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: the movie, then it's what's the next step I.
- 1:02:53Speaker 6: Have to get it to You write the movie, polish
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: it up as tight as you can get it, and
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: and you uh, you know, you pitched idea to the people.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:03:06Speaker 6: You know, I know from being out in Hollywood for
- 1:03:09Speaker 6: thirty years, I know people are different studios that you
- 1:03:12Speaker 6: could say, hey, I got something. You know we're pitching.
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: We're gonna be going around to different studios and telling
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: them the idea on this date. You want it, you
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: want want me to come in, and so you set
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: up a bunch of meetings where you go around town, uh,
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: pitching the idea, and you know, people respond to it, Yo,
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: we like it, we want it, and then you send
- 1:03:38Speaker 6: them the script. The script go through whatever process to
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: go through at the studio. I think the marketing team
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: has to sign off on it. You know, you don't
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: want to do a movie that they can't sell, so
- 1:03:52Speaker 6: a lot of different departments sign off on it before
- 1:03:56Speaker 6: it's green lit.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: Green lit means the studio has agreed to make it.
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: Everybody has signed off on it, and you need actual signatures.
- 1:04:08Speaker 6: And once you get all the signatures, you need the movie.
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: You know, they start to spend money and the movie
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: is actually green lit. When they start to spend money, do.
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: You put the budget how much it's gonna cost to
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: make it? Or yeah, they figure it out.
- 1:04:22Speaker 6: Yeah, you take the script, you get it to a
- 1:04:25Speaker 6: line producer, a line producer, he he breaks down how
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: much it's gonna cost, how many days it's gonna take
- 1:04:34Speaker 6: to shoot, how you know what you need? How many locations,
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: and you know, he kind of breaks the script down
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: to puzzle pieces and each piece costs a certain amount
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: of money to create. So you know, you look up
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: and it's like, yo, for this much money, you can
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: shoot thirty days because it costs you know, one thirtieth
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: per day, you know what I mean?
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: And so.
- 1:05:08Speaker 6: Depends on how much it costs per day, that's how
- 1:05:10Speaker 6: many days you got to shoot, on how much your
- 1:05:12Speaker 6: budget is.
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:05:14Speaker 6: So it costs a million dollars a day, and you
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: got thirty million dollars, you got thirty days to shoot.
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: So sports and activism has always kind of gone hand
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: in hand in the black community, from John Collis at
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: the Olympics, Muhammad Ali to modern day Klan Kaepernick to
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: Kyrie Irvan. You have been very vocal as an activist
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: for a long period of time in a variety of
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: different political situations that you take apart. Now you're actually
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: an owner of sports league, So what's your thoughts on
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: players taking social stances and what's your thoughts in general
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: on sports and political activision, racial different things coming coming together, Like,
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: what's your thoughts on that, Because a lot of people
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: think that should be separate. Some people think that they
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: should go hand in hand.
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: Like, what's your thoughts. I think nobody want to see
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: robots play.
- 1:06:13Speaker 6: If that's the case, then you know, everybody would be
- 1:06:17Speaker 6: creating their own Lebron James robot.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: You know, so nobody want to see robots play.
- 1:06:23Speaker 6: Some human beings with opinions, you know, do I want
- 1:06:30Speaker 6: you shouting out anything political in the middle of a
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: jump shot? But before well, before and after the game.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: Man, they put a mic in your face. You got
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: the mic.
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: I'm I come from a from a culture of you
- 1:06:47Speaker 6: got the mic, Use it, you know, and you could
- 1:06:53Speaker 6: change somebody's attitude. You know, you could change somebody's thought process.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: If they hear from the right person. You know.
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: I remember different people coming up to my school and speaking,
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: and some people I paid attention to, some people I didn't.
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: It depends on how much did I like them, respect them,
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: understand what they was about.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: So sometimes it takes.
- 1:07:24Speaker 6: An athlete to get the message across more than a
- 1:07:28Speaker 6: politician or teacher or preacher or whatever. So you know,
- 1:07:33Speaker 6: everybody should be able to voice their opinion depend you know,
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: it don't depend. I mean, it don't matter if they
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: played a sport or not.
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: Would they be Throughout your career, you've pretty much done
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: a variety of different things, from speaking out against the police,
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: political issues, acting, rapping sports is anything that you feel uncomfortable,
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: like I don't want to like this is not my lane,
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: because it seems like everything is your lane.
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: Like, is it anything where it's like I'm staying away
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: from this?
- 1:08:09Speaker 6: Yeah, there's plenty of things, you know, I just want
- 1:08:16Speaker 6: to do what I feel like I could be. I
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: can be additive, you know what I mean, be good
- 1:08:23Speaker 6: at I don't want to I don't want to take
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: away now. I don't want to just do stuff because
- 1:08:28Speaker 6: I can. I want to do it when I know
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: I could do a good job. And so I you know,
- 1:08:37Speaker 6: I do a lot, but I make sure that I
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: don't do too much where I can do a good job.
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: You know. The last thing is, you know, just saying.
- 1:08:53Speaker 6: Jack of all trades, master of none is still better
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: than being a master of one. But I don't want
- 1:09:01Speaker 6: to do so many things that that that my music
- 1:09:06Speaker 6: or my acting or the sports starts to diminish because
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: I'm just spinning too many plates.
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: Now, jack of all trades, a master of none is better.
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: I've never heard anybody say that before. I never heard
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: the second part, second part. You know, people forget the
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: second part.
- 1:09:23Speaker 6: They always say, you don't want to be a jack
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: of all trades and a master of none, but it's
- 1:09:27Speaker 6: still being It's still better than being a master of one.
- 1:09:31Speaker 6: So I don't want to do everything. But you don't
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: want to just single out to just one thing too either,
- 1:09:38Speaker 6: So I think it's about balance.
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: It's about knowing when you've reached your limit.
- 1:09:45Speaker 6: And I want to learn about a game and understand
- 1:09:49Speaker 6: it before I get in it. Anyway, So I'm always
- 1:09:52Speaker 6: you know, I want to respect the game before I
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: get in it, because if now you're going to lose, I.
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: Won't go back to nineteen ninety one, the line was
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: either they don't know, don't show, don't give a funk
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: about what's going on in the hood.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: More important than the line, which is very important, was
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: a shirt that you were wearing, Let's said Crenshaw on it,
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: that sparked a movement inside of a young man we
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: know now it's the late Dipsey Hustle. I wonder what
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: your thoughts were when you saw the impact that that
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: shirt had on this community and obviously on him and
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: the whole marathon brand.
- 1:10:35Speaker 6: I didn't really make too much of it because the shirt,
- 1:10:39Speaker 6: you know, and Crenshaw has had a profound impact on me,
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: you know what I mean. So it's hard to look
- 1:10:47Speaker 6: and say, yeah, I did that when when I was
- 1:10:54Speaker 6: affected the same way. You know the area he used
- 1:11:00Speaker 6: to you know, it was boulevard where you know, people
- 1:11:04Speaker 6: would go hang out with their cars, They women, they music,
- 1:11:10Speaker 6: and so to be able to just even highlight that
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: area on film was you know, I felt honored, you
- 1:11:19Speaker 6: know what I mean? So anybody taking that and running
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: with it, you know, to me was was was I
- 1:11:25Speaker 6: honored that I'll bestorm John instead of myself.
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: So did you do you watch No Fall? The show? Nah?
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: I couldn't watch No Fall. Why couldn't you watch it?
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: Because John? You know, John wasn't there the complete division.
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: The reason I asked is because the last scene, well
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: the last year, the last scene that part. I was
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: wondering how how you interpreted because it was kind of
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: an old boys in the hood. He's walking through the
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: alley that reminded me of the alley that Ricky was
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: running down. Yeah, you want to see a dead body, right,
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: you want to see that body and the filming boys
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: of the Hood as they're doing it, So it felt
- 1:12:03Speaker 4: like an old to Johns I was thinking about how
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: you know your thoughtsbout it because you were involved in
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: that movie, and obviously John was the creator of Snowfall.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: I thought it was an amazing.
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: They call it the Easter Egg or whatever, an amazing
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: homage and and tribute to John.
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: And and.
- 1:12:26Speaker 6: We probably had some people around there screaming, you know
- 1:12:31Speaker 6: what y'all making what y'all doing. I mean, I didn't
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: like him yelling you ain't gonna win the oscar, but
- 1:12:40Speaker 6: silly niggas yell that ships at all. But but for
- 1:12:43Speaker 6: the most part, I thought it was real cool. I
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: thought it was a great way that to put a
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: cherry on top and and make you know, John's you know,
- 1:12:55Speaker 6: vision somewhat full circle because he's always seen you.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: Know, we saw.
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: Boys in the Hood and Poetic Justice and Baby Boy
- 1:13:07Speaker 6: as a trilogy, and and so you know, this was
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: his you know, weekly crack at it, so to speak.
- 1:13:17Speaker 6: So you know, I wish he was able to that
- 1:13:22Speaker 6: it was his vision throughout the whole series, but that
- 1:13:26Speaker 6: but that ending was real classy.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: Is TV more challenging then because you've done TV like
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: to Is TV more challenging in the movie or I.
- 1:13:35Speaker 6: Think so because with TV you gotta you gotta basically
- 1:13:41Speaker 6: create a movie every week with a movie just you know,
- 1:13:46Speaker 6: it's a one shot deal. And so I think TV
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: it's harder to keep up with that pace.
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: Before we leave, I just gotta ask a couple of
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: rap questions.
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: Yes, it's fitting because the last time we was here,
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: I asked Baron Davis the same the same exact question.
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: So I'll be interested to get your take on it.
- 1:14:07Speaker 5: Your top five rappers from l.
- 1:14:09Speaker 6: A Wow, from l A. I got some cold rappers
- 1:14:22Speaker 6: out here. I don't miss nobody, you know, I like, uh.
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: M hmm.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: Can we claim corrupt? Yeah? Yes, sure, sure, sure, my love.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: I can't put them in order though, that's fine, That's fine.
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: I love corrupt. Okay. I think you wanted the coldest
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: and it could be surrounding areas calmed in Long Beach.
- 1:14:49Speaker 6: Kendrick is cold, Okay, the game is cold.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: Rass cast interesting choice. M hm.
- 1:15:04Speaker 6: Crooked Eye, no Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg is a superstar
- 1:15:09Speaker 6: on all level. You're rhyme in pure rap.
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: Grab the mics bars? You know those as oppose to me?
- 1:15:20Speaker 8: Are?
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: Are the bars? I'm gonna make something even more general.
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: It's fifty years of hip hop, right if we're putting
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: the playlist together with the five songs that have to
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: be in the fifty the fifty years of about what
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: are some of the five greatest sauce?
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: I will put the breaks? Okay, uh rappers delight.
- 1:15:48Speaker 8: Okay, the show classic, damn down.
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: To two fingers left.
- 1:16:02Speaker 6: I ain't even left the eighties yet.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: Mhm.
- 1:16:09Speaker 6: Wow, man, this is it's hard after that, like, wow, man,
- 1:16:25Speaker 6: the last too.
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: I cannot put one in go for it in my
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: top fifty. Yeah, today is a good day?
- 1:16:30Speaker 6: Is in the okay, all right, no problem, Like I
- 1:16:33Speaker 6: know you're gonna be humbly speaking, I ain't gonna I
- 1:16:35Speaker 6: ain't gonna put that one in fifty. I appreciate those things, man,
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: I appreciate that that plays forever.
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: It's one of those songs. It's like summertime for Smith.
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: But it's so many.
- 1:16:46Speaker 6: It's like, you know, treated right, God, damn uh, it's
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: like it's so many.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: It's tough. It's too many. It's too many.
- 1:16:58Speaker 6: Man, it's just like, yeah, it's too many that it's
- 1:17:03Speaker 6: too many many.
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: Yeah, him, it might be an easier one.
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: I know you're obviously in a much more positive like
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: these things, but it's important to the culture. I think
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: when you spar with your opponent, right, it's a core
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: element of hip hop. Yeah, you have one of the
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: top battle songs ever, the top, the top, the tip.
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: What's your top five? He said? The top no Vascilina
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: is the top battle song ever, and it's not even close.
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: It's not even close. All right now, yeah, so all right,
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: so what's the top five.
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: No Vascillina's number one for you, what's the top four
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: other than that battle songs?
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: I mean I would go with, you know, hit him
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: Up is good? Ether is is dope.
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: I would go with, uh, your eighties got, uh, your
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: eighties got.
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: Yeah. I'm not saying he's got you try I got.
- 1:18:07Speaker 6: Oh man, I'm gonna have to go with uh, the
- 1:18:15Speaker 6: bridge is over, that's what that's what we go and uh,
- 1:18:23Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: I think I gotta go with let's go, let's go.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: What was Let's go again? D d No? Takeover? Take
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: over or back to back, back to back is done
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: to is serious? Yeah? That became like a number one record.
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: Yeah it was Grammy not baby.
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: I think he got one too. What was that? Uh?
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: Back down ricky? Now? Back down was back down? Crazy? Yes?
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: Yes, yes, but I don't think it's as strong as
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: like takeovers that's in the five.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: But ether no, I would say no Vasseline and ether
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: I'm surprised his why it's no vassaline, you know, argue
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: this with us.
- 1:19:09Speaker 6: One took our poem c's and the manager.
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: Can't beat that. Takeover?
- 1:19:20Speaker 4: Well, no Ether Ether took out a record a record
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: label that took him out, put him on a pause.
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: I have to rearrange some things. I broke up a group.
- 1:19:31Speaker 6: You did that was kind of the temple getting at
- 1:19:35Speaker 6: the end for Rufus, it was.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: All right, so no vascil I guess like both does right?
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: They came back. Yeah, bomb things was incredible. Do you
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: do you miss that element of hip hop?
- 1:19:46Speaker 5: Like I said, I mean, of course nobody wants to
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: see violence and stuff like that, But do you miss
- 1:19:50Speaker 5: the element because there's still people beef in each other now,
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: but now it's it's real beef, Like, do you miss
- 1:19:55Speaker 5: the element of people actually making because it's not easy
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: to make a song about somebody you got think you
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: got the research.
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: Like cannabis is up there as well. Second d No,
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: you can't forget about that. That's that's up there. Yeah, okay, okay,
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: do you miss that part of hip hop? I don't know.
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: You know, it's like it's like fighting.
- 1:20:18Speaker 6: You know, it's cool when somebody else is fighting you watch,
- 1:20:23Speaker 6: but when you're in the fight, you don't know where
- 1:20:26Speaker 6: it's really gonna go.
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: I don't know how cool you feel. It's like that.
- 1:20:29Speaker 6: It's kind of like you're putting, you know, not only
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: yourself but your crew in some kind of you know,
- 1:20:39Speaker 6: possible danger, you know what I mean. You don't know
- 1:20:42Speaker 6: how out of hand it's ever gonna get. And usually
- 1:20:46Speaker 6: the people battling or going at it like that on
- 1:20:49Speaker 6: the record, it's serious. Before they get a chance to
- 1:20:54Speaker 6: have a conversation, sometime they can squash it.
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: You compare the making movies to making TV. You're saying
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: like they're making a movie every week. I wonder what
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: that's like for you, especially while you were creating these franchises.
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: The process of writing a movie as opposed to writing
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: an album, is it the same creative mind flow? Like,
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: what's that process?
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: Well? Was it like for you?
- 1:21:14Speaker 8: No?
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: I you know, writing a movie is you know.
- 1:21:19Speaker 6: I looked at it kind of like a hobby. You know,
- 1:21:22Speaker 6: it's like my downtime. I may I may be out
- 1:21:26Speaker 6: of town, I may be on a movie and just bored,
- 1:21:31Speaker 6: like in my dressing room, like in my trailer. So
- 1:21:34Speaker 6: I'll start writing just to be creative and not just
- 1:21:40Speaker 6: have a lot of dead space with a record.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: You know, I'm I gotta beat.
- 1:21:44Speaker 6: I'm like, you know, I'm I want kind of instant
- 1:21:49Speaker 6: satisfaction with a movie. I know it's like this is
- 1:21:52Speaker 6: a long drawn out process, so I just kind of
- 1:21:57Speaker 6: take a different approach the music.
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: You know, you want you.
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: Want to hear something, record something, and you want it
- 1:22:04Speaker 6: to be dope when it come out to speaker, Like
- 1:22:07Speaker 6: you need that shit. Like if it's not sounding good immediately,
- 1:22:12Speaker 6: you start to you know, either break it back down
- 1:22:17Speaker 6: or change things or just you know, you got to
- 1:22:21Speaker 6: get it to that process. You gotta get it sounding
- 1:22:23Speaker 6: good immediately.
- 1:22:25Speaker 5: I got two more music questions for you before we finish.
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: It's very important versus would you do it?
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: Versus? And who would you?
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: Who do you think is the ideal dancing partner, Because
- 1:22:40Speaker 5: how I look at versus, it's not always like this
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: is the best person, this is the best person. They
- 1:22:44Speaker 5: got to kind of compliment each other, like, yeah, a
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: good dancing partner, Like I don't think two chains in
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: Rick Ross was a good pairing, not from a skill standpoint,
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: but it just it wasn't a good dancing partner. TI
- 1:22:54Speaker 5: and Rick Ross is probably a better dancing partner. So
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: how you feel about would you do it versus? And
- 1:22:58Speaker 5: if so, who would you want to versus? I wouldn't
- 1:23:01Speaker 5: do it versus, But I think me and LLL would
- 1:23:05Speaker 5: be a great versus. Why wouldn't you do it versus?
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: We both can grip and rip, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: We both grabbed the mic and spit it, and we
- 1:23:15Speaker 5: both can perform our songs, So I think it'd be great.
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: We both got.
- 1:23:20Speaker 6: Hits, and you know he got a lot of hits.
- 1:23:28Speaker 6: I said, he got a lot of hits, So I
- 1:23:31Speaker 6: just think it'd be a good one. But I wouldn't
- 1:23:33Speaker 6: do it. Why not because I respect him too much.
- 1:23:35Speaker 6: I can't go against LLL.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: But it don't have to be a battle. It could
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: be like because earlier how it was not gonna be like.
- 1:23:41Speaker 5: It wasn't always dip Set and Locks turned it into
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: the battle, But before that it was just because even
- 1:23:46Speaker 5: ghost Face and Rays.
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: Did a versus together.
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: Like before the dip set and Locks, it was more
- 1:23:51Speaker 5: so like complimenting each other play a song. It was
- 1:23:53Speaker 5: very friendly. Once Jada Kids got up there and took
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: Santana's Ben dan Off.
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: Has it been at the end of the Yeah, that's like, yeah, no,
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: I'm good. All right.
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: Well, my last questions the question how do you feel
- 1:24:09Speaker 5: about artists selling their catalogs and would you sell your catalog?
- 1:24:16Speaker 6: I think, you know, you got to do what you
- 1:24:17Speaker 6: feel is right for yourself and your family. You know,
- 1:24:21Speaker 6: at the time, I don't think I would sell my
- 1:24:26Speaker 6: catalog because I think it's uh man, it's a valuable
- 1:24:34Speaker 6: piece to our puzzle and my estate, my kids, my family.
- 1:24:44Speaker 6: You know, once you sell it, then you know, you
- 1:24:47Speaker 6: do something with that money.
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: And then you you kind of lose out on what
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: ownership is all about. You know.
- 1:24:56Speaker 6: I love when people call me and be like, yo,
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: we want to put this song in this movie here,
- 1:25:02Speaker 6: And it's like, you know, that's the reason you own
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: a song or own your publishing, to be able to
- 1:25:08Speaker 6: grant that and get that extra money.
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: You know, it's it's part of the game.
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: You talked about family, talked about the state. I wonder
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: what it's like watching your son established himself as an
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: actor in this field?
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: Amazing?
- 1:25:22Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, who else could play you in
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: the movie Budgets and he killed that?
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: So what is that like?
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: Because most people we see in music their children want
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: to do music and sometimes the works.
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: Sometimes it doesn't just follows you an actor. How's that?
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: How's that been? It's been great. You know.
- 1:25:38Speaker 6: I couldn't have like, you know, written out a better script,
- 1:25:43Speaker 6: you know, for what to happen the way it did.
- 1:25:46Speaker 6: And the fact that he's not only you know, taking
- 1:25:50Speaker 6: that role, but he's he's run with his career. You know,
- 1:25:53Speaker 6: he's in Spain right now doing then the Thieves too.
- 1:25:58Speaker 6: And you know, as a bother, you just want your
- 1:26:01Speaker 6: kids to be good kids and then you want them
- 1:26:04Speaker 6: to do something cool that they did. And uh, I
- 1:26:08Speaker 6: think he's he loving life right now, you know, he
- 1:26:11Speaker 6: loving life. So proud of him, man, and proud of
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: all my kids. You know, all my kids are great people.
- 1:26:19Speaker 6: And that's that's you know, that's what you want at
- 1:26:21Speaker 6: the end of the day. You know, as long as
- 1:26:23Speaker 6: I ain't raising no no jail birds and no dope heads.
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. I'm happy. How long you've
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: been married, been married for right now it's about thirty
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: one years going to thirty one years. How has that
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: impacted your career? I'm sure.
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: I Mean people don't really talk about that a lot
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: but how that family having the stability in your family,
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: How important was that for you to be.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: Able to achieve the levels of success that you've been
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: able to achieve.
- 1:26:52Speaker 6: Wouldn't wouldn't be able to do it without without the
- 1:26:54Speaker 6: family support and without being a family man. You know,
- 1:27:01Speaker 6: I just think about all the time that that could
- 1:27:07Speaker 6: have been wasted, that I ended up really staying focused
- 1:27:13Speaker 6: because I didn't have those distractions that I've seen some
- 1:27:16Speaker 6: of my peers have, and so, you know, it's been
- 1:27:21Speaker 6: an essential part of me being able to do so
- 1:27:23Speaker 6: many things and do them at a high level. You know,
- 1:27:28Speaker 6: if I was just running around, you know, I probably
- 1:27:31Speaker 6: wouldn't get get most of that shit done.
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: Que appreciate your time, brother much respect. How can it?
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: When will the Big Three be airing again? How can
- 1:27:43Speaker 5: people get information? Anything else?

- 1:28:26Speaker 6: August nineteenth, put it in the calendar.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: Man, the Gallon Wallow n Eli Chopper. You know they
- 1:28:35Speaker 6: he can really the ball.
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: I've seen them play. Yeah ball.

- 1:28:49Speaker 5: you know, being a shining light for us, you know,
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: watching from voys in the hood talking about gentrification thirty
- 1:28:56Speaker 5: years ago, to not being afraid to be political, to
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: you know, doing in the movies, to being an entrepreneur
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: to provide an information. Game is something that I think
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: a lot of people have gained a lot of insight
- 1:29:08Speaker 5: from inspiration, motivation, and education. So that's something that is
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: extremely important. So thank you for everything that you've done
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: for the culture in the world.
- 1:29:16Speaker 6: Appreciated man, you know much love. Just thanks for everybody
- 1:29:20Speaker 6: for all the support.
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:29:22Speaker 6: You know, you can't do this kind of stuff without
- 1:29:24Speaker 6: the people, you know, supporting and showing you that they
- 1:29:27Speaker 6: appreciated and they want more. And so you know, I've
- 1:29:32Speaker 6: had so many people motivate me, so to be able
- 1:29:35Speaker 6: to motivate you know, anybody from what I'm doing, you know,
- 1:29:40Speaker 6: is just a blessing that comes off of, you know,
- 1:29:44Speaker 6: putting your putting your head down and working hard.
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: You know. There you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Yeah, yeah, ya.
- 1:29:53Speaker 6: My graduates from my school being forced bad drop.
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: Might drop trust.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas. Man of Venezuelan charged with
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy Noman, the United States
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, Attempted illegal border
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fined nearly
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned, and deported. You will

- 1:30:58Speaker 1: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump America's laws,
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: border and families will be protected.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security,
