- 0:00Speaker 1: Previously on Relatables Baddie's book Club, there is no word
- 0:03Speaker 1: yet about the fate of Roe and Evelyn's daughter Aileen.
- 0:09Speaker 1: That's Elena Selene is the Slayer is the air. Welcome
- 0:14Speaker 1: to Relatables Baddie's book Club, where we will embark on
- 0:17Speaker 1: a journey reading some of the finest pieces of literature
- 0:20Speaker 1: you have ever laid eyes or he is if that's
- 0:22Speaker 1: your preferred way to consume a book on Assassin's Blade
- 0:27Speaker 1: Part one.
- 0:29Speaker 2: But that was a bit anti climatic part.
- 0:31Speaker 1: What Well, we know that it's a group of five novellas, Yeah,
- 0:36Speaker 1: it is, so. The first one is I think it's
- 0:39Speaker 1: called the Assassins. It's the Assassin and the Pirate.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. And you don't know. Hey, so
- 0:45Speaker 2: have you listened to any of the audiobook of this
- 0:49Speaker 2: no bro the Pirates as the Pirates Axe Hen what
- 0:54Speaker 2: is it?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Ah, I'm a Hodey. No it's not. No, it's not
- 0:59Speaker 1: because I because I have in my head that he's
- 1:04Speaker 1: like because I only have my mental description of what
- 1:07Speaker 1: I've read. He just has a normal accent, and he's
- 1:11Speaker 1: just called a pirate and he doesn't actually have like
- 1:13Speaker 1: an Ah. No, no, no, it's so.
- 1:15Speaker 2: So this is what I hade about audiobooks and not
- 1:17Speaker 2: dramatized audios. Is that the same voice actor voices everyone. Yeah,
- 1:23Speaker 2: so we've got this woman actress voice actor who's doing
- 1:27Speaker 2: all the voices. One of the Bobby yellow Legs was like,
- 1:32Speaker 2: had a your long Island accent in the last one,
- 1:34Speaker 2: and this one's like, Slena, what are you doing to me? Lad?
- 1:40Speaker 1: Stop?
- 1:41Speaker 2: It's terrible. That's claughed, bro.
- 1:46Speaker 1: They need to get I've been reading this other series
- 1:49Speaker 1: called Dungeon Crawler. Carl and Luke Bateman said to me,
- 1:52Speaker 1: you need to listen to it, and I was like, oh,
- 1:54Speaker 1: is it like a graphic audio type, you know, full cast?
- 1:57Speaker 1: And he goes, no, no, no one, dude, but but
- 2:00Speaker 1: you think it's a full cast, And so I started
- 2:04Speaker 1: and dude, you couldn't. You can't convince me this is
- 2:08Speaker 1: one guy. Really, he's amazing.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I suppose that's what you got to do if you're
- 2:12Speaker 2: want to hire one person for the whole book.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yeah, you need someone that's got rain, Yeah, dynamic vocal rain,
- 2:18Speaker 1: Like this girl's normal reading voice sounds great as Selena,
- 2:21Speaker 1: but then everyone else terrible. I wonder if men have
- 2:26Speaker 1: an advantage in that sense, because like it's a lot
- 2:29Speaker 1: easier for a man to go deeper than his normal voice,
- 2:32Speaker 1: and then he's got his normal voice, which is like
- 2:34Speaker 1: sort of normal, like you and I kind of thing.
- 2:37Speaker 1: And then it's not uncommon for a man to be
- 2:39Speaker 1: able to train himself to go very high. You sound
- 2:41Speaker 1: like a woman maybe, but for a woman to go deep,
- 2:43Speaker 1: it's very difficult.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:45Speaker 1: The Adam's Apple, Yeah, is that what it is?
- 2:48Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure that's why our voice is deeper, because
- 2:50Speaker 2: we have an Adam's Apple.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Is it not? For your sake? I hope it is.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure that's why. Because I'm pretty cools near
- 3:01Speaker 2: the vocal chords.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna be let's look it up. Here's that.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I'm going to be very.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Impressed if the fact we have an Adam's Apple is
- 3:11Speaker 1: because our voices are deeper, does having? I hope it's yes? Yes, Oh,
- 3:18Speaker 1: thank God, good for you. I thought you just heard
- 3:21Speaker 1: it from someone one day back in the day and
- 3:23Speaker 1: you were like living by that.
- 3:24Speaker 2: A more prominent Adam's Apple is often associated with a
- 3:27Speaker 2: deeper voice. It's not actually the Adams Apple. It's like
- 3:30Speaker 2: what happens with when an Adam's apple grows, Like.
- 3:34Speaker 1: If we didn't, if it didn't come out, O, voys
- 3:36Speaker 1: wouldn't be as deep.
- 3:37Speaker 2: No, because it's a larger lavinex or something and that's
- 3:42Speaker 2: the part of Adams apple in the back or something.
- 3:44Speaker 2: A fucking genius, Jack ib a fucking genius you fliped
- 3:49Speaker 2: to that.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Anyway, Let's I'm a ball of knowledge. Let's get into
- 3:53Speaker 1: the summary. Were recapping every chapter thoughts in Who's to
- 4:00Speaker 1: every God Twist will break it down for you. Okay,
- 4:06Speaker 1: So the summary that I've got is like the whole party,
- 4:10Speaker 1: the assassin and the pirate lord. So there is. It's
- 4:13Speaker 1: not like chapter by chapter, but it'll be. Actually, it's
- 4:14Speaker 1: actually pretty good, all right. So, following the deaths of
- 4:20Speaker 1: two fellow assassins in Rifthold, Selena Sardothian and Sam Cortland
- 4:24Speaker 1: are sent by Arabin Hamil to Skull's Bay in order
- 4:27Speaker 1: to exact retribution from the Lord of Pirates Captain Rolph,
- 4:33Speaker 1: who's Captain Rolf obviously for three assassins killed by his
- 4:36Speaker 1: fellow pirates. Upon arrival, Slena and Sam soon discover that
- 4:41Speaker 1: Arabin is using the assassin's deaths to broker a slave
- 4:45Speaker 1: trade agreement with Captain Rolph. Selena doesn't like the idea
- 4:48Speaker 1: of being part of slave trading. She decides to meet
- 4:51Speaker 1: with Ralph to see what she can do to disrupt
- 4:53Speaker 1: the trade. She insists on inspecting the slaves. When they arrive,
- 4:57Speaker 1: Ralph says they will stay on the boat for the inspection.
- 4:59Speaker 1: When shown the slaves, Sam squeezes Slenna's hand to let
- 5:03Speaker 1: her know, so to let her know she knows what
- 5:07Speaker 1: she's going to do. Like Sam knows that she's gonna
- 5:10Speaker 1: fuck with Rolf, she realized just upsetting the deal wasn't
- 5:13Speaker 1: enough to free the slaves. Both disgusted by the inhuman
- 5:16Speaker 1: conditions that the slaves are in and the immorality of
- 5:20Speaker 1: it all, they plot in secret to free all the
- 5:22Speaker 1: slaves in Skull's Bay before they are shipped off to sail.
- 5:26Speaker 1: The night before the slaves departure, Slenna and Sam sneak
- 5:28Speaker 1: aboard the two slave ships, the Loveless and the Golden Wolf,
- 5:33Speaker 1: disabling the guards aboard. Speaking through a multi lingual slave,
- 5:38Speaker 1: Selena informs them of her plan and their impending freedom
- 5:42Speaker 1: should they follow her instructions, instigating a bar fight that
- 5:45Speaker 1: involves into an entire city fight. Sam and Slenna attempt
- 5:49Speaker 1: to sneak away to destroy the Shipbreaker, a large chain
- 5:52Speaker 1: that prevents entrance to and from the bay, but are
- 5:56Speaker 1: confronted by Rolf. Distracting him by showing her usually masked face.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Selena allows Sam to escape while she duels with Rolf,
- 6:04Speaker 1: narrowly defeating him. She watches in horror as Sam destroys
- 6:07Speaker 1: the shipbreaker, the watch tower, and seemingly himself in the process.
- 6:12Speaker 1: The slaves who had been rowing the ships since dawn broke.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Since Dawn broke, managed to escape as the other ships
- 6:19Speaker 1: were disabled the night prior. Miraculously, Sam survives the destruction
- 6:23Speaker 1: of the watch tower, much to Selena's relief, and the
- 6:26Speaker 1: two begin a more amicable, if not slightly awkward friendship,
- 6:32Speaker 1: with a contractual agreement that Rolf will never again enter
- 6:35Speaker 1: the slave trade and will harbor escape slaves if they
- 6:38Speaker 1: return home. And then they return home to Rifthold. Does
- 6:43Speaker 1: that ring a bell?
- 6:44Speaker 2: That does ring a bell? Okay, Yeah, I've got heaps
- 6:46Speaker 2: of thoughts and feelings and stuff to talk about this.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that was It's kind of like a weird premise
- 6:53Speaker 1: of the book.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Well, I think not that we've made it confusing for ourself,
- 6:58Speaker 2: but yeah, we've gone back in time. It's also a prequel.
- 7:02Speaker 2: It's done differently and then like now we kind of
- 7:07Speaker 2: already know the future. But no, still for a prequel,
- 7:09Speaker 2: I thought it was quite entertaining.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and I didn't know she hated Sam from the beginning.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I also it makes sense, well she wears a fucking mask.
- 7:17Speaker 1: How no one knew her identity in the Challenge for
- 7:20Speaker 1: the King? Like, yeah, that's why I always thought, like,
- 7:24Speaker 1: how do these people not recognize her? So that does
- 7:26Speaker 1: answer a huge question because she always kept so Arabin
- 7:29Speaker 1: always wanted her identity kept like safe.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And they also explained it because beauty can be used
- 7:36Speaker 2: as a power as well as like a fault, I guess,
- 7:39Speaker 2: And she's very beautiful, so they hide that as well,
- 7:41Speaker 2: other than just hiding her identity. Yeah, yeah, but no,
- 7:46Speaker 2: pretty interesting, I want to say, because like obviously it
- 7:49Speaker 2: goes into way more detail in the book.
- 7:51Speaker 1: So Selena is like, so, what's the word cocky in
- 8:00Speaker 1: this very jarring? Yeah, jarring is the word, Like she
- 8:05Speaker 1: is so so just arrogant.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I kind of got used to it. I really
- 8:13Speaker 2: thought that at the start. It kind of pissed me
- 8:15Speaker 2: off because I was hoping my prayers would be answered
- 8:18Speaker 2: in a sense of like I thought she would just
- 8:21Speaker 2: be like a fucking cold, hard killer with no morals,
- 8:24Speaker 2: no empathy. He's fucking slittant, roads, fucking drolling knives at people,
- 8:30Speaker 2: and now she's saving slaves for no reason. Obviously it's good,
- 8:34Speaker 2: but I was like, this isn't what I want.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I know. It's kind of like they're trying to so
- 8:40Speaker 1: Sarah jo Mass is trying to get us to like
- 8:43Speaker 1: maybe understand her character and her personality a bit more,
- 8:47Speaker 1: but maybe the reason In like so Throne of Glass,
- 8:50Speaker 1: she talks about how good she used to be and
- 8:52Speaker 1: how good she is, but she's like obviously been starved
- 8:54Speaker 1: for a year at the camp at Endovia, but she's
- 9:02Speaker 1: almost humble.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Yeah she's been Maybe she got humbled, but she must
- 9:06Speaker 2: get humbled in this book somehow.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I think she gets humbled by getting caught and the
- 9:11Speaker 1: fact that like obviously we know Sam dies, yeah.
- 9:14Speaker 2: And like her.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Gets given up, like she gets humbled.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I think it almost happened in part one where like
- 9:22Speaker 2: Sam almost dies because of Selena and she thought he
- 9:25Speaker 2: wasn't coming back, and she's like, this is all because
- 9:27Speaker 2: of me. He definitely dies because of her.
- 9:30Speaker 1: He's definitely gonna die because of her. Also, it's cool that, like,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I so off with this book's obviously going to be
- 9:37Speaker 1: like we get to see them falling in love over
- 9:38Speaker 1: the next because she's sixteen in this nearly seventeen. She
- 9:41Speaker 1: gets caught at eighteen, so she's gonna get caught soon. Yeah. Yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I was a little annoyed that Ralph could just like
- 9:47Speaker 1: go hand to hand with her. Well, he was a
- 9:48Speaker 1: pirate lord though, Yeah, pirate lord. He's supposed to have
- 9:52Speaker 1: like this this map on the back of his hand
- 9:55Speaker 1: that like was he sold his soul for and he
- 9:59Speaker 1: can like know the weather, he knows where other pirates are,
- 10:02Speaker 1: he knows where the enemies are and't shit like and
- 10:04Speaker 1: that's why he's the pirate lord. Yeah, but apparently hit
- 10:08Speaker 1: that magic for that also got taken away when the
- 10:12Speaker 1: king found his word key.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Interesting because it's a cool premise. I was thinking, like
- 10:17Speaker 2: kind of Pirates of the Caribbean, Like it was his name,
- 10:20Speaker 2: Davy Jones Locker, that bloke, Yeah, like that kind of vibe.
- 10:23Speaker 2: So I was thinking he was a weapon, and like
- 10:25Speaker 2: I was thinking he would be better than Selena because
- 10:26Speaker 2: she's sixteen. But I was wrong.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I had high hopes for Selena. I thought she was
- 10:31Speaker 1: just gonna suck him up. But he went hand to
- 10:32Speaker 1: hand with the no problem. But I was picturing someone more.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I was picturing like someone handsome for the pirate. She
- 10:40Speaker 1: I swear. She explains him as like handsome.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe it was the voice or like
- 10:46Speaker 2: just the word pira. I was picturing like a grub
- 10:48Speaker 2: full of tattoos and dirty and shit like long Dready's
- 10:51Speaker 2: and that I see.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I was picturing all the tattoos, but like I was
- 10:55Speaker 1: almost picturing, Like how do I explain this? Like like
- 11:01Speaker 1: I was picturing Let's just say if you or me
- 11:03Speaker 1: were just like covered in tattoos and we wore a
- 11:07Speaker 1: pirate's outfit so.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Kind of like sexy. Yeah, that's fair.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I suppose that's more.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Fitting for the book. And I was maybe my imagination
- 11:14Speaker 2: was taken away by pirates of the Caribbean.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Yeah, anywho's So She's like, I don't know, that's There's
- 11:24Speaker 1: not a huge amount that goes on apart from the
- 11:27Speaker 1: fact that she just tries to three all these slaves.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and the reason she was doing it was just
- 11:34Speaker 2: because she felt bad for him and no one else
- 11:37Speaker 2: was doing it.
- 11:38Speaker 1: So yeah, she's like her whole thing was so Sam,
- 11:41Speaker 1: he's not a big fan of it, but he wouldn't
- 11:42Speaker 1: have gone against Arabin's words. No, like of you know,
- 11:46Speaker 1: go broke it this deal. And then here's the thing
- 11:48Speaker 1: as well, right, so number one, Slam is like, I
- 11:51Speaker 1: don't give no fucks like I'm his heir, I'm the
- 11:53Speaker 1: heir to Arabin's assassin throne or whatever. So she doesn't.
- 11:57Speaker 1: She thinks like she's safe, so she thinks she can
- 11:59Speaker 1: do whatever she want. And she's like, she's like, I
- 12:02Speaker 1: refuse to let Arabin deal with slaves like I thought
- 12:05Speaker 1: he was literally like as rich as the king, why
- 12:07Speaker 1: is he doing this? And she's also like so Sam
- 12:11Speaker 1: and her have an argument when she's like I'm gonna
- 12:14Speaker 1: free them and he's like don't, please, don't. She's like
- 12:16Speaker 1: I'm doing it whatever, and he's like she's like, you know,
- 12:21Speaker 1: we didn't have a choice, but we have a choice now.
- 12:25Speaker 1: So like when we got picked up by Arab and
- 12:27Speaker 1: we didn't have a choice to be trained and become killers,
- 12:29Speaker 1: but we get to choose who we kill now, and
- 12:31Speaker 1: who we kill is like nine to nine percent of
- 12:33Speaker 1: the time corrupt politicians type shit people that deserve to die.
- 12:39Speaker 1: And so She's like, these slaves they fucking you know.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Some of them might have been fighting for their country.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Some of them might have just been living in small
- 12:47Speaker 1: towns on the outskirts of a city or like a territory,
- 12:50Speaker 1: and they just got picked up in the commotion. Like
- 12:52Speaker 1: these people are innocent, Like what are they doing here?
- 12:55Speaker 1: They don't need Like this is crazy. And so then
- 12:58Speaker 1: Sam finally agrees with her.
- 13:00Speaker 2: So I feel like maybe it does go a little
- 13:02Speaker 2: bit deeper because I think Selena mentioned or maybe it
- 13:06Speaker 2: was Sam, like why were we sent Sam and Selena
- 13:09Speaker 2: to kind of yeah, broach this, he broached this deal.
- 13:13Speaker 2: We don't need to be here.
- 13:14Speaker 1: This could have been some peeni weenie nobody. Basically, Sam's like,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I think Arabin wanted us out of the city for
- 13:20Speaker 1: a month.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Yeah, But also I think Arabin knows that Selena will
- 13:26Speaker 2: fuck this up for some reason, he knows her better
- 13:29Speaker 2: than she knows herself. She's sixteen. It the d of
- 13:30Speaker 2: the day, Like she's still figuring out who she is. Yeah,
- 13:33Speaker 2: and I reckon he really knows it. And he seems
- 13:35Speaker 2: to be like the pinnacle to all of these stories
- 13:38Speaker 2: because he would have known that she's heir to the throne,
- 13:41Speaker 2: but she doesn't know it yet. I reckon, he's like
- 13:43Speaker 2: the pain. He's sent her there for some reason. Maybe,
- 13:48Speaker 2: So what was the what happens to now? The slaves
- 13:52Speaker 2: aren't coming? What's the repercussions with the pirate lord? But
- 13:54Speaker 2: he signed those document there was basically.
- 13:57Speaker 1: No repercussions because she's said to him, I've got I've
- 14:00Speaker 1: written out these two contracts. Contract number one is you
- 14:04Speaker 1: will never ever do a deal with Arab and Hammel
- 14:08Speaker 1: again or some shit. And then the other contract she
- 14:11Speaker 1: forced him to sign was you that he's never ever
- 14:15Speaker 1: going to deal in the slave trade again, and Skull
- 14:20Speaker 1: Bay as and the city of Skull Bay is to
- 14:24Speaker 1: be used as a like they will take slaves in
- 14:28Speaker 1: that are fleeing. And he's like, what if I just
- 14:33Speaker 1: don't don't do that? What if I just keep dealing
- 14:35Speaker 1: in slaves? And she's like, well, she's fought him twice.
- 14:40Speaker 1: She's like, I've disarmed you and like you twice the
- 14:45Speaker 1: third the third time, you won't be so lucky as
- 14:48Speaker 1: as obviously she's saying I'll kill you next time.
- 14:51Speaker 2: So I mean, I think either part one means absolutely
- 14:57Speaker 2: fuck all or it means everything. It means everything.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Yeah, here's the thing though, was like all of this stuff, right,
- 15:08Speaker 1: like everything that's gonna happen in this book is like
- 15:11Speaker 1: doesn't mean does it mean anything to the story of
- 15:14Speaker 1: Throne of Glass.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I saw a comment the baddies rebuttled it that someone said,
- 15:20Speaker 2: don't even bother reading Assassin's Blade.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I saw someone say don't even bother reading it too,
- 15:24Speaker 1: and then I did see a lot about it be
- 15:26Speaker 1: like no, no, no, no no. But at the same time,
- 15:28Speaker 1: it's like the majority of people are going to be purists. Yeah,
- 15:32Speaker 1: So it's like, is the person that is saying don't
- 15:34Speaker 1: read it like objectively right in a sense of like
- 15:37Speaker 1: you don't actually need to, it's more of a choice.
- 15:40Speaker 1: But then the purists are like, no, no, no, you need it.
- 15:41Speaker 1: You need it, you need it, like you need the backstory,
- 15:43Speaker 1: you need this, you need that. But like, at the
- 15:44Speaker 1: same time, do you really need that? Did we need
- 15:48Speaker 1: to know who Sam Cortland is? What he was like
- 15:51Speaker 1: why Selena loved him, like or do you just need
- 15:54Speaker 1: to take her word for it in the books that
- 15:56Speaker 1: she did love him.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm leaning towards you probably don't have to read it. Yeah,
- 16:06Speaker 2: but it does add to the storyline, and I think
- 16:09Speaker 2: for us we'll enjoy that.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it gives it depth. Yeah, give it a bit
- 16:13Speaker 1: of depth. Yeah, it gives it a bit of depth.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I think I agree with that.
- 16:16Speaker 2: As long as we find out how Sam died, I'll
- 16:18Speaker 2: be happy.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but we know how Sam died, like the detail
- 16:24Speaker 1: of it. Oh true, No, we don't know the detail,
- 16:26Speaker 1: but we know that, yeah, he was killed because actually, wait,
- 16:30Speaker 1: I remember reading something about how he died.
- 16:32Speaker 2: But I want to know that, Like it's Selena's fault
- 16:35Speaker 2: and that's why she changed, and that's why she was caught.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Like all the depth we know that was when she
- 16:40Speaker 2: was caught, but we don't know what well.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Yeah, look, I mean it was cool what they did, Yeah,
- 16:46Speaker 1: it was it was cool, something a little bit different.
- 16:49Speaker 1: It's kind of cool that you just like start and
- 16:52Speaker 1: stop a short story and like we don't have to
- 16:54Speaker 1: do any predictions for the short story. We don't have
- 16:56Speaker 1: to do It's kind of funny A.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah, no, we don't have any predictions for or that
- 17:01Speaker 2: you can't story at all. But do you want to
- 17:03Speaker 2: do predictions for this book? Sure?
- 17:07Speaker 1: Yeah, lots of fear less predictions to one of the
- 17:11Speaker 1: fictional men like we always.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Doigenough and streaming again. This is the Relentables Book Club.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Let the throw on the docks begin, all right, predictions time.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Predictions for this book's a little bit different because, like
- 17:27Speaker 2: Jake just said that each we've got four more stories.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Each one I assume has a conclusion, like it's not
- 17:34Speaker 2: a chapter and leads on Yeah, yeah, each one will
- 17:36Speaker 2: come into a conclusion.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Yeah, so I don't know.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Obviously I reckon it's a love story for Sam and Selena,
- 17:43Speaker 2: but also there's gonna be one of the stories mentions
- 17:50Speaker 2: Selena figuring out her powers, but she has no idea
- 17:52Speaker 2: what it is, no really, and I think she finds
- 17:58Speaker 2: out with something to do with someone makes her angry
- 18:03Speaker 2: around Sam and prostitution with his mum.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Okay, thats mom, his mom's dead.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, but you know how that mentioned with
- 18:09Speaker 2: the slaves, how the pirate lord said like, oh, some
- 18:12Speaker 2: of some of them tore the right person will go
- 18:14Speaker 2: to be in the prostitute. Yeah, and then Sam Sam
- 18:18Speaker 2: got really angry and Selena was like, that was the
- 18:20Speaker 2: first time you could see like she cared about him.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I reckon, that will cause her to get really angry
- 18:25Speaker 2: and you'll see the power and it'll come through somehow.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Yeah, that's my prediction. Okay, you think I think there's
- 18:32Speaker 1: zero magic.
- 18:33Speaker 2: You don't reckon. I don't reckon there will be like
- 18:36Speaker 2: an answer to it. But I reckon something will happen
- 18:38Speaker 2: you can't explain it, and we know it's magic, but
- 18:40Speaker 2: Selena doesn't know it's magic.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I think that's actually a fair point. I think that
- 18:47Speaker 1: every single one of these stories is going to be
- 18:52Speaker 1: like a m you know, Selena is got to go
- 19:00Speaker 1: do something that's for her work, which is being an assassin.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Right.
- 19:05Speaker 1: So number one she got sent to broker a slave
- 19:09Speaker 1: trade deal and she's like, fuck, no, freeze the slaves,
- 19:13Speaker 1: right Yeah. I reckon the next one, she's going to
- 19:16Speaker 1: save someone that doesn't need to be saved, or some
- 19:18Speaker 1: shit or like or like you know, she's like she's
- 19:22Speaker 1: just like I think every single one there's going to
- 19:23Speaker 1: be something that pulls on her heart strings and like
- 19:26Speaker 1: we're just going to keep on seeing feet deeper and
- 19:28Speaker 1: deeper that her character is just like, No, all I
- 19:31Speaker 1: actually want to do is help people.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Damn it. That sounds so right, but I don't want
- 19:35Speaker 2: it to be right.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I think that's all. That's I think that's what every
- 19:38Speaker 1: single one of these stories is going to be. Also,
- 19:41Speaker 1: I have a feeling that the next one is super short.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Oh really, I think so a I could actually tell
- 19:48Speaker 1: you exactly how many pages it is.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Do you want to do too? Is that what you're saying?
- 19:52Speaker 1: I don't know what do you reckon? Like, we don't
- 19:54Speaker 1: have to We could just like, like, we don't have
- 19:57Speaker 1: to do too, We could just do a short one.
- 19:59Speaker 2: True, just a little short epy.
- 20:01Speaker 1: So the Assassin and the so here we go. So Assassin,
- 20:07Speaker 1: the Assassin in the Pirate Lord was seventy seven pages.
- 20:12Speaker 1: So from the Assassin and the Healer starts at page
- 20:14Speaker 1: seventy seven and finishes at page one hundred and seventeen.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Okay, so it's like fifty So it's.
- 20:22Speaker 1: A bit shorter. But then the one after that is
- 20:26Speaker 1: over one hundred pages, and the one after that again
- 20:29Speaker 1: over all the other ones of that are all one
- 20:30Speaker 1: hundred pages. Oh no, we'll leave it as just do
- 20:34Speaker 1: one party, one novella each time.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Yeah, one little And I think to make the baddies
- 20:38Speaker 2: happy is I will release all of these at once. Okay,
- 20:44Speaker 2: So I reckon the baddies will be like, no, doabll
- 20:47Speaker 2: It was not that much happens. But if you get
- 20:49Speaker 2: every single episode at one time, then you actually do
- 20:51Speaker 2: get it all once.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll be happy. And I reckon I'm going to
- 20:55Speaker 1: try and go like just quick summary off the top
- 20:59Speaker 1: of my head nearly, okay, especially if they're sure yeah yeah, true, true, true.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Well you something reds are good. And with that, I
- 21:06Speaker 2: guess two batties. If you want to binge, you're not
- 21:08Speaker 2: on Patreon, and you want to binge all episodes of
- 21:10Speaker 2: Assassin's Play, They're now available on Patreon for eight ninety
- 21:13Speaker 2: nine a month. The value over on Patreon. Not just
- 21:16Speaker 2: saying that because I'm one of the co owners, but
- 21:20Speaker 2: it's good value. Eight brilliant value. I gotta say something, Okay, I'm.
- 21:25Speaker 1: So excited to read Air of Fire?
- 21:28Speaker 2: Is that just the book after this? Is that? Where
- 21:30Speaker 2: where are we going to discuss the you read them together? No,
- 21:36Speaker 2: that's the.
- 21:36Speaker 1: One I don't know where where where like no, no, no, no, no, no, bro,
- 21:39Speaker 1: we got like, so we've got fu. I we need
- 21:44Speaker 1: to read books six and seven together. Oh okay, and
- 21:47Speaker 1: read is six and seven?
- 21:49Speaker 2: I say it's two three? For fuck, we're ages away,
- 21:51Speaker 2: don't I'm sure.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I think it's like Queen of Shadows, Tower of Dawn,
- 21:56Speaker 1: tandem read those and then the last book is Kingdom
- 21:59Speaker 1: of Ash.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Oh shit, So you got me excited. I thought, well,
- 22:04Speaker 2: near it because you were asking about it.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Nah. Nah, I went on near it. I just kept
- 22:08Speaker 1: on seeing. So I asked on the Instagram about I
- 22:10Speaker 1: was like, do we do the tandem read? And majority
- 22:15Speaker 1: of people is yes, do the tandem read.
- 22:17Speaker 2: One of the baddies commented, I voice message you comment again,
- 22:21Speaker 2: they have the Kindle version and Cassie's got a Kindle,
- 22:23Speaker 2: so I can do it where it's tandem red split
- 22:26Speaker 2: up perfectly so you get it right and it makes sense.
- 22:28Speaker 2: It's cohesive and that's what we need. Where if I
- 22:30Speaker 2: feel like I was reading two books, I don't know
- 22:32Speaker 2: how the fuck I do it with audio books.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it would be hard. It's gonna be some people.
- 22:38Speaker 1: So someone said, don't do it because it fucks up
- 22:42Speaker 1: the momentum. But then some people are saying the complete opposite,
- 22:48Speaker 1: that you need to do it or else the momentum
- 22:51Speaker 1: is shit.
- 22:52Speaker 2: How do is it chapter for chapter or is.
- 22:54Speaker 1: It I have a feeling it must be like I
- 22:56Speaker 1: guess you know, you might read like three chapters from
- 22:58Speaker 1: one of them and then go read one chapter from
- 23:00Speaker 1: the other. And then with the way some of the
- 23:02Speaker 1: people all the Badi is well, Sarah J. Mass fans
- 23:07Speaker 1: that someone must have worked it out proper timeline wise,
- 23:11Speaker 1: like you're reading it, but like the series of events
- 23:14Speaker 1: are happening on the opposite side of the world in
- 23:17Speaker 1: all like different parts of the world, but each thing's
- 23:19Speaker 1: like someone commented, like, the reason I think you need
- 23:21Speaker 1: to do to the tandem read is because for number
- 23:23Speaker 1: one like you, it's better for momentum. So people are
- 23:29Speaker 1: saying it's better for momentum.
- 23:30Speaker 2: And then.
- 23:32Speaker 1: There is things that happen in one book that directly
- 23:36Speaker 1: impact the same for the same time of like, and
- 23:40Speaker 1: it's like, so I feel like you need to I
- 23:42Speaker 1: think the tandem reads the go. Everyone's saying it's the go.
- 23:45Speaker 1: A lot of people are saying like some people are saying,
- 23:46Speaker 1: don't do it. Beth Reckons read them as they were released.
- 23:52Speaker 2: I was gonna say, it's interesting the whole book world.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I guess maybe it's just Sarah J. Mass. I'm a
- 23:58Speaker 2: bit naive to the whole thing. Now we're reading.
- 24:03Speaker 1: The first book.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Third we might do a tandem read.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yeah, literally, who knows what else we'll do. It went
- 24:10Speaker 1: from chapters to parts like yeah, yeah, bro, like it's fing.
- 24:15Speaker 2: To be fair, Like I've always struggled to comprehend, like
- 24:18Speaker 2: as a writer planning however, many books must be fucking hard,
- 24:22Speaker 2: and then you have then and then you have a
- 24:24Speaker 2: thought one day like oh shit, I could have added
- 24:25Speaker 2: this here, I'm as well do another book. Yeah, And
- 24:28Speaker 2: then finally, in uh this book Assassin's Blade, apparently, one
- 24:33Speaker 2: of the batties said we need to look out for
- 24:35Speaker 2: Dorian and Kale. Not giving anything away. It's like where's Wally.
- 24:39Speaker 2: There'll be a mention about them, and yeah, I don't
- 24:43Speaker 2: think their names are mentioned, but something they do must
- 24:45Speaker 2: be mentioned and be like, oh, we know who they
- 24:47Speaker 2: are because we've read it in this sick Yeah. Apparently,
- 24:51Speaker 2: I think Dorian should be easy to spot. Kale might
- 24:53Speaker 2: be a bit harder.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I assume that she's just going to talk about like
- 24:56Speaker 1: the Captain of the Guard or some shit.
- 24:58Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel like maybe maybe true true true,
- 25:02Speaker 2: or someone does something that affects something. I don't know.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I wonder what, I wonder what. I feel like I
- 25:08Speaker 1: will notice it? No, will I?
- 25:10Speaker 2: Okay, you will. I. Also, the first part wasn't as
- 25:13Speaker 2: much as oh my god, it explains so much for me.
- 25:16Speaker 1: No, nothing.
- 25:17Speaker 2: It was more like, oh, yeah, explains a bit.
- 25:20Speaker 1: The final question that we're going to find out And
- 25:23Speaker 1: if you're listening to this on Patreon, then you're also
- 25:25Speaker 1: going to find out with us, probably within the next
- 25:27Speaker 1: couple of episodes.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Well that's another pole being on Petreon. You get to
- 25:30Speaker 2: experience with us.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Yeah true, this isn't actually something you'll find out. But
- 25:36Speaker 1: I want to know if Arabin Hamil is going to
- 25:38Speaker 1: become a part of the wider series. Ah, he has to.
- 25:43Speaker 1: And like, is Arab Hamil like a fucking beast assassin too? Like?
- 25:48Speaker 1: Is he way better than Selena?
- 25:50Speaker 2: That's a good point because he taught her everything. She
- 25:54Speaker 2: knows everything. He must not have magic.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Yeah, true, we know that Selena's fae.
- 26:00Speaker 2: What's their relationship now? Like, has anything been mentioned? Nothing
- 26:04Speaker 2: has a She.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Thinks that I'm pretty sure he betrayed her, so she's like,
- 26:07Speaker 1: fuck that guy.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I feel like he.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Archer, Archer says in Crowned Midnight, like Arabin told me
- 26:17Speaker 1: who you are?
- 26:18Speaker 2: But did he know he thought? Did he know Archer
- 26:21Speaker 2: was bad? I don't know.
- 26:23Speaker 1: And does Arabin know that.
- 26:25Speaker 2: He's the slave bread crumbing that Arabin is bad and
- 26:29Speaker 2: he doesn't really care? Maybe yeah, I think it's Basby
- 26:32Speaker 2: and slaves and ship.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Yeah, anyway, thank you for listening.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Come back next week for part two. We Love You,
- 26:38Speaker 2: Stay Bad
