- 1:45got a lot to get to get to this morning. Of course, we
- 1:48mentioned the Parmars shootout. I'll run down that schedule for you a little bit
- 1:51later on in the show. The West Virginia Auto Show gets underway Friday at
- 1:56the Coliseuma Convention Center. Actually tomorrow night kind of the kickoff if you will,
- 2:00because Tomorrow night is the Black Tie affair, and Jamie Spears from Astorgato,
- 2:05one of the auto dealers in the area that is kind of behind this
- 2:08thing, is going to join us to talk about that a little bit later
- 2:12on. Plus we'll see what else we can get into as well. The
- 2:15candidates leading candidates for governor on the Republican side, the four leading polling candidates
- 2:22were on stage last night in Glade Springs and Brad McIlhenny was watching closely,
- 2:28and Brad joins us now to talk about a Brad, good morning, welcome
- 2:30to the show. Good morning Daves. Thanks for having me. Brad.
- 2:34You seem like a party guy. Might we see you tomorrow night at the
- 2:37Kyle Seam of the Convention Center for the black Tie Masquerae ball as part of
- 2:42the Auto Show, with proceeds benefiting I think Good News Mountaineer Garage. Could
- 2:46we might we see you there tomorrow night, Brad? That is a great
- 2:50cause. I have already had a busy and active week of the big coverage
- 2:53in Daniels, West Virginia. So you may not see me last night,
- 2:58but I will say I love the Authors Show, and when my kids were
- 3:00little, they loved it because the dealers are very generous about respectfully getting in
- 3:07those cars and checking them out. And if you know, if you're a
- 3:10little kid and you can get into a flashy, snazzy, shiny vehicle and
- 3:20turn the wheel and stomp the pedals, that was a great time. It
- 3:23was indeed, And again it's kind of a no pressure type event either.
- 3:27So if you just wanted to look at the cards and you know, I'll
- 3:29talk about that with Jamie a little bit later. I just thought that,
- 3:31you know you, because radio people and journalism are all all about black tie
- 3:36affairs and things of that nature, I thought, I thought maybe we might
- 3:38see you there. I would have to actually go get a black cover.
- 3:42Where are you, Tony the Taylor? We need you, all right?
- 3:45So last night Brad the four leading republic candidates for governor former Delgatemore Capitol Curt
- 3:50Attorney General Patrick Morrissey, Secretary of State Warner and Hunting to businessman Chris Miller
- 3:53met at Glade Springs outside Beckley. Last night. The debate moderated a Hobby
- 3:58Kirchial. I've been doing my duty the last couple days with the Parmar shootout,
- 4:02so I did not get to listen to it live. I did go
- 4:04back and listen to portions of it this morning of the of the debate,
- 4:11So overall, Brad, and we'll get into specifics. What did I miss
- 4:15by not hearing it live? As I said, I heard bits and pieces
- 4:17of it this morning. But what was your main takeaway from the whole thing?
- 4:23It was a good event. This was sponsored by the Republican the Raleigh
- 4:27County Republican Executive Committee, and it was in the ballroom McGlade, Springs.
- 4:32The prior debate, also hosted by our Hoppy Kerchival, had been a more
- 4:38intimate affair with several of the candidates and Hoppy gathered around the table. That
- 4:43was that was the kind of civility that we say we want. This one
- 4:46had a packed room, an avid audience, generally of Republicans who may be
- 4:53sorting what their top choices for voting are among these four guys who all are
- 5:00are conservative in their own way, but there are differences among them, and
- 5:03whether it was that the calendar has now turned, whether it was that they
- 5:09are all there. Prior to this, it was mac Warner, Chris Miller
- 5:14and more Capito in the debate with Hopey. This added the attorney General Patrick
- 5:19Morrissey, or whether it's you know time has gone by. They were punchier,
- 5:24I mean were There were a lot of jabs, some things that to
- 5:30me seemed a little personal thrown back and forth. They were not holding back,
- 5:35and you know, my thought was, they must all believe that this
- 5:41remains very competitive, and they are giving it their best shot, not only
- 5:46to put their their own best foot forward, but to say why the other
- 5:49guys should not be under your consideration as a voter. Yeah, I would
- 5:55agree with that. A lot has been said about the guy in the lead
- 5:59in most polls, and certainly in the money raising has been Attorney General Patrick
- 6:02Morrissey. Two schools of thought here, Brad. One, I've been told
- 6:06by many that it's Patrick Morrissey's race to lose. The other is, with
- 6:13mister Morrissey starting out so strong, the only place to go from here is
- 6:15down now. Chris Miller is now running TV ads. I'm told his radio
- 6:20ads starts soon. Not as much not much advertising so far that I've seen
- 6:26for more Capito or Mic Warner, but it is just it's still the first
- 6:32week, in first full week in February. Would you agree with that that
- 6:38statement I made at the outset. They're brad that many people have said that
- 6:41the only place that Patrick Morrissey can go from here is down. I don't
- 6:46know, but it's it is a Republican primary, and although we now know
- 6:50that non partisan voters can ask for that Republican ballot, at least this time
- 6:56around the summer, reund primaries tend to draw the most enthusiastic core voters.
- 7:03And Morrissey has served three terms in an office he just asked him. He
- 7:11has had many, many opportunities to participate in conflicts, generally against the federal
- 7:19government, and so you know, he's got a track record, and that
- 7:25could be good, it could be bad. He is an aggressive individual,
- 7:30and I don't doubt that his politics excite at least a portion of those likely
- 7:40Republican voters. Whether that is kind of the same floor and ceiling, I'm
- 7:47not sure at this point. But you know, you could tell that the
- 7:54other three candidates were going after him, and Morrissey's supporters have said, that's
- 8:01that's an indication that he's in the lead. You're the guy to go after.
- 8:05But you know, on the other hand, I would say that there
- 8:07was three of them going after him, and I wondered if that that collectively
- 8:13might cause some voters who are not maybe those those hardcore primary voters, to
- 8:20rethink what they think of Morse. And I saw an ad. I was
- 8:24just getting ready to leave the house this morning. I had one of the
- 8:26local television stations on Brad and I saw an ad and I think it was
- 8:30sponsored by crub for Club for Growth that was very very anti Chris Miller,
- 8:35talking about his UH because he touts himself as a successful businessman, which I
- 8:39don't think anybody would agree, would disagree with that, well except for the
- 8:43people that paying for this ad, because they were going after his record as
- 8:46an auto dealer. And I didn't get to see the whole thing. I
- 8:50meant to try to look it up what I got here when, and got
- 8:52busy and forgot. But so the anti Chris Miller, at least the television
- 8:56ads are already running. I saw one this morning. I got an email
- 9:01from the Miller campaign about that. It says this is from Chris Miller's campaign.
- 9:07It says never Trump Special interest group live about pro Trump businessman Chris Miller.
- 9:13I so a couple of political thoughts about that. One is it.
- 9:20I haven't seen recent polling that you know, you could trust, But it
- 9:26kind of surprises me that they're going after Chris Miller. There must be some
- 9:31political element of thinking he's he's drawing votes from us, or maybe Miller is
- 9:39doing some strong polling. I don't. I don't know, but there's some
- 9:41reason that the Club for Growth has launched these ads. Secondly, if you're
- 9:50going after Miller on the basis of his car dealership performance, those dealerships are
- 9:56mostly in southern West Virginia. Are people in the northern painion or the eastern
- 10:01pinion even going to understand what you're talking about? Well? And you know
- 10:05how the advertising game worked, Brad. They could be running something different up
- 10:07there. But that's actually a very good point, something I hadn't thought about.
- 10:11I hadn't thought about that. I want to switch gears here for a
- 10:13moment. I want to talk about Governor Justice, the man who wants to
- 10:16be US senator and barring some sort of miracle, he's going to take the
- 10:20seat currently held by Senator Joe Manchin, who I suppose Brad is still scouring
- 10:24the country looking for the truth or the medal or whatever he's looking for you
- 10:28have a story on the website that the coveted Greenbrier Sporting Club, and he
- 10:31has full disclosure. Actually I've actually been there. It's quite nice. But
- 10:37it is going on the auction block, Brad. It is. So this
- 10:43is an action by Carter Bank of Martinsville, Virginia, Justice's longtime lender,
- 10:48and Justice and his family in last April defaulted on roughly three hundred million dollars
- 10:58and personally guaranteed low. There was a it went before judge. The justices
- 11:05made a defense that Carter has been too restrictive in its lending policies and that
- 11:13that restrictiveness was unfair, did not allow the justices to have the flexibility to
- 11:20run a fully profitable business, and the entire thing has been just sort of
- 11:26an economic circle of doom. The judge in that case rejected the justice arguments
- 11:33and said they were based on hyperbole and not fact. So as an outcome
- 11:37of that, Carter Bank has now put in a claim on the collateral.
- 11:41And there may be multiple forms of collateral, but the one they're focusing on
- 11:46right now is the Greenbrier Sporting Club, not the green Brier itself, the
- 11:52community where people can buy property adjacent to the Green Brier that they have home
- 12:00homes. They have some shared amenities like the pool and the clubhouse, but
- 12:05there is still some justice ownership of that property. Largely you Dave could buy
- 12:11it in a broad sense, the Greenbrier's Sporting Club. It could be yours
- 12:16at auction on the Greenbrier County Courthouse steps on March fifth. That I don't
- 12:24know. You know, an auction means that you don't know what they're going
- 12:28to get out of it. So to what degree will that potentially satisfy what
- 12:31is owed to Carterbank. But it's high profile, it's potentially an embarrassment.
- 12:37It should get people's attention. I think it's meant to get Justice's attention because
- 12:43again another piece of collateral could be could be the Greenbrier itself, but that
- 12:48is not up for auction at this point. Well, I know that you
- 12:52were watching the story and all these closely, and I understand that to hobbies
- 12:58back to the Capital day, fresh off of his uh his moderating the debate,
- 13:03the gathering if you will, down in Glead Springs last night, and
- 13:05I understand that you and Steven Allen Adams from Agden newspapers collectively known as the
- 13:09BS Report are going to join Hobby at the at the Capitol at the yetes
- 13:13that stands for it's you know, it's not just not that descriptive. It
- 13:16actually is. Brad and Steve and you guys are gonna be at the top
- 13:20of the show today. Quickly, Brad, what anything in particularly you're looking
- 13:22at today under the dome? Well, right now, I'm reacting to Justice
- 13:26property and the debate last night. So once I clear out of some radio.
- 13:31Okay, Justice himself has a briefing at noon, and it would be
- 13:35a logical question to say, what is your reaction to the potential force sale
- 13:41of Greenber's wat Well, that blistering story that appeared of the last couple of
- 13:45days in a Wall Street Journal. You know that somebody, you know,
- 13:48I read that last week and it does not bode well. But it's not
- 13:52gonna matter. I mean because West Virginians I was having this conversation with somebody
- 13:54earlier today. West Virginians know this and they don't care. I mean that
- 13:58they simply don't care. All right, Brad, get back to the Capitol
- 14:01and we'll be listening to you on Hoppy and throughout the day and reading your
- 14:05stuff. I appreciate you being here man. Thanks a lot. Hey,
- 14:07Thanks Brad Michaelhonney again. Nine to twenty one Dave Allen showing five any Line

- 17:19at the Cottleseum Convention Center Friday through Sunday. A black Time masquerade type event
- 17:23will be held Tomorrow Night's Jamie spears with Astrogatdo of Charleston, one of the
- 17:27fine auto dealers in the state. He and this group have been a big
- 17:30part of this show and planning to be this weekend. This weekend, he
- 17:33joins us Now Jamie, good morning, Welcome to the show. How you
- 17:37doing today. I'm doing fine. Thank you for being here, Jamie.
- 17:41We talked about the show a little bit yesterday, but truly it is one
- 17:45of those events that people in the Charleston area and the entire region really look
- 17:49forward to each year. Yeah, it's a really good event. It's it's
- 17:53nice to get all the car dealers together in one spot where people can come
- 17:57from really all over the state. I mean, I know, I'm originally
- 18:00from Parkersburg. There's a lot of people to come down and get to look
- 18:04at all the manufacturers all at once, which makes it really nice. It's
- 18:08a non selling them an environment, so they can go in, take a
- 18:11look at the cars, get information, and do it all at wants,
- 18:15So it makes it really nice. Talk about some of the challenges Jamie that
- 18:19the auto industry has faced over the last couple of years and are things getting
- 18:23back to normal somewhat for the auto industry. Well, the thing this year
- 18:29versus the last two or three years is that's going to be the good thing
- 18:33about this show is inventory isn't as big of a restraint as it was back
- 18:40then. The last couple of years has been a real struggle. We're starting
- 18:44to get all of our inventory back. We're still having challenges and some manufacturers,
- 18:49it seems, but a lot of it is more in the park side.
- 18:53They're trying to build so many cars they can't keep up with the park
- 18:56So we are still having ruggles with parts and inventory a little bit, but
- 19:02not near what it was the last couple of years. Yeah, I mean
- 19:03that was totally unprecedented. Yeah, that was totally well, every aspect of
- 19:08business it was. It was it wasn't just us that was suffering. It
- 19:12was the customers and everything else because we couldn't get parts, couldn't get cars.
- 19:17I mean we usedupply loaner cars and we couldn't get loaner cars. It
- 19:21was. It was really a tough last couple of years. Yeah, exactly
- 19:25right. Jamie Spears from Astorgado is with us to talk about the Auto show
- 19:27this weekend at the Cobble Scheming Convention Center, and again I talked about this
- 19:30yesterday. One of the things about the show, and you mentioned, use
- 19:33the term non selling event. Uh. If people they've seen television commercials,
- 19:37they've heard radio ads, have gone online, they've looked at cars, but
- 19:40there's nothing like actually setting in a car, seeing how it feels, you
- 19:45know, to take a look under the hood, what whatever it is that
- 19:48you want to do, is is big enough for my family? This?
- 19:49You know, Van, I'm looking at it. Whatever you can do that
- 19:53in a non pressure type environment at the auto show, Yes, that makes
- 19:57it really nice for everybody. They can go look at cars that even normally
- 20:00they wouldn't look at, and and they get a chance to see what everybody
- 20:06has. And I mean, you know, even in other cities throughout the
- 20:08state, not all the dealers are in one place to where you can I
- 20:15mean not everybody has of all those dealer, has a Lexus dealer, or
- 20:18has a land Rover dealer. So when they come to this they can look
- 20:22at all the manufacturers all at once, and there's some things that they might
- 20:26not have ever considered, and then they take a look is like I couldn't
- 20:30believe you can buy a car that that reasonable with this manufacturer. And there's
- 20:33a lot of that that happens, and and people getting to sit in cars
- 20:37and that they don't normally get to sit in and it makes them It makes
- 20:41it easier for everybody, and there's always people there to answer questions if they
- 20:47need it. But it's not a salesman trying to sell them cars. It's
- 20:51just people getting information and it's really it's really good for the community. And
- 20:55people can see, you know, the dream cars, the ones that we
- 20:59that we can only dream of, but they also see the everyday cars too,
- 21:03the ones that get you to church and to work in the ball game.
- 21:06They can see the everyday vehicles, cars, trucks, SUVs, and
- 21:08vans as well. Yeah, there's a lot of It's funny. You see
- 21:12kids that come through there that ten years ago that are now in here buying
- 21:15cars that said they were at an auto show and seeing a car and that
- 21:19set their goal. That was the car they wanted to get to. And
- 21:22sometimes that just motivates them. That's a good thing. Indeed, it is.
- 21:27So again, it's just one of those big events that Charleston always looks
- 21:30forward to. The black Tie kickoff is tomorrow night. The show will run
- 21:34Friday through Sunday at the Kittle Seem Convention Center, and Jamie I'm planning on
- 21:37making an appearance there myself, hopefully tomorrow night and also on Sunday Cheap Plug
- 21:42Jamie, since you were nice enough to come on the show this morning.
- 21:45What is going on at Astrogato? Tell me about the dealership. Where are
- 21:49you? What do you got going on? You got free commercial time here,
- 21:52buddy, go ahead. Well, I mean we got obviously we're Mercedes,
- 21:59Land River, Jag, Volvo and Audi here on the hill on cord
- 22:04Org but we also have Ashwork Auto Parkersburg where we've got some new franchises up
- 22:10there as well. That is, we've added Volkswagen, We've added Mazda.
- 22:15We also have a Harley dealership up there, and we got Forward Lincoln,
- 22:19we got all the Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep. I mean, we have
- 22:22a lot of manufacturers that we have ourselves. But as far as getting I
- 22:29mean up here on cord Or g we have a lot going on. We've
- 22:33built new facilities and all that stuff, and we do a lot of loaner
- 22:36cars for customers, free pick up and delivery, and we really strive to
- 22:41service our customers in the best way possible. Well, Jimmy, don't go
- 22:45ahead, I mean interrupt. You got plenty of time. Go ahead.
- 22:48No. The other thing was is for the VIP show tomorrow night. We
- 22:52it's gonna it's this is a charity event so you can go online and buy
- 22:56your tickets. This is a really really cool event where you get state senators,
- 23:03you get the House of Delegates, you get it. I mean,
- 23:06all the legislature and all that stuff's going to be there, and a lot
- 23:10of the car dealers are going to be there, and I mean everybody,
- 23:15the who's who of Charleston and all across the state is coming to this event.
- 23:18But it's all for charity. So it's a really cool event. And
- 23:22we as Afterwork has brought in a couple really cool singers coming in. And
- 23:27if you've ever watched The Voice, we got Bryce Leatherwood coming singing in our
- 23:32booth, which is really cool. That was Blake Shelton's guy. So it
- 23:36should be a really good event indeed, And again it's just one of those
- 23:40highlights, one of those four or five, you know, big things that

- 24:48Going back to the debate just for a couple of moments. I'm gonna
- 24:51break this down a little bit later on Again, I got several texts to
- 24:52get to I do want to mention this. This was the first one of
- 24:56these so far that we had the four leading care candidates on the Republican side
- 25:03all there in one place, Patrick Morrissey, Macwarner, More Capitol, and
- 25:04Chris Miller. Now there are a few more of these being planned, and
- 25:08I'm going to get a cheap plug in for one of those right now.
- 25:11And it's still kind of in the developmental stages right now, but I'm kind
- 25:15of helping my folks out with this. Now in my native land of Logan
- 25:22County, may want to circle this on your calendar. Details are still being
- 25:26ironed out, but coming up on April eleventh, the Logan County Chamber of
- 25:30Commerce is going to have their annual dinner in the community of Yuma, which
- 25:34is about five minutes from downtown Logan. The guest attraction, if you will,
- 25:40will be the ford leading Republican gubernatorial candidates MC Warner, Patrick Morrissey,
- 25:45Chris Miller and more. Capitol. This is going to be a little bit
- 25:48of a forum and a little bit less of a debate. I understand talking
- 25:55to Dobrina Williams and fine folks at the Chamber of Commerce down there. All
- 26:00four of the camps have agreed in theory to the discussion, so it should
- 26:07it should be a great evening down there. And again they've all agreed,
- 26:11and you got to kind of work out details and schedules and things of that
- 26:15nature. But in theory, all four of their camps have agreed to be
- 26:18there. It's going to be April eleventh. It's the Logan County Chamber of
- 26:22Commerce dinner, and the gubernatorial candidates, the Ford leadings will be there.
- 26:26Now here is the selling point, and yes, I'm going to be there,
- 26:29but I ain't nobody buying a ticket to see me, particularly not in
- 26:33Logan County. The forum is going to be moderated by Amanda Baron from WOWK
- 26:40TV thirteen. So that's pretty cool stuff right now. As we get closer,
- 26:44we'll talk a little bit more about it. I'll have Amanda on the
- 26:45show with me as well to discuss it. But they contacted me, you
- 26:49know, from the Chamber of Commerce Center, and I said, hey,
- 26:52can you kind of help us out with this? Well, I'll buy a
- 26:53ticket and I'll get you Amanda Baron. How's that. That's about as good
- 26:56as I can do. So it is going to be a great night on
- 27:00there. And again that's just one. There are several, at least two
- 27:03or three other ones that I know of that are coming up, so we'll
- 27:06talk about those as we get a little bit closer. The show comes to
- 27:10you, of course from the Palmar Store studio. You know, if there's
- 27:11not a Parmar store near you now, there will be soon. Parmar and
- 27:15Game Changer continue with the Parmar Shootout today on the campus of West Virginia State
- 27:19University's Day three just underway. It is a boys contest featuring Wahama High School
- 27:26in Saint Joe, and then another boys contest with Sissonville taking on Ron County.
- 27:32Then a double header featuring the girls of Cameron facing the girls of Doddridge
- 27:37County. Than the Cameron and Doddridge County Boys will play. That's follow about
- 27:41George Washington taking on Morgantown in a boys game, then the Capitol Boys take
- 27:45on Cabal Midland and the day will close with the contest featuring the Panthers of
- 27:51Tug Valley in Webster County, and that will be one of those games.
- 27:56And for some reason my notes off there there's another game and oh yeah,
- 28:02okay, that's a Martin Burger and Wesley Christian. For a complete list of

- 33:00also the continued discussion that Brad and I had about the sale of the
- 33:04Greenbrier Sporting Club, and there's going to be more discussion on some of the
- 33:07bills concerning student discipline. And one person who seems to have a problem with
- 33:13what has been discussed so far as Senator Charlie Trump, who was a candidate
- 33:16for state Supreme Courts. Senator Trump will join Hoppy to talk about that.
- 33:21Plus it's Black Policy Day at the Capitol. Attorney generally and gubernatorial candidate Patrick
- 33:25Morrissey, also fresh off the gubernatorial debate at Glade Springs last night. He
- 33:29will be on the show, and Jeff Jenkins from the newsroom is going to
- 33:32join Hoppy. Last night, over one hundred people gathered for a Candidight vigil
- 33:38outside the Tobacco and Pipe Shop in North Charleston to remember the young man who
- 33:42was murdered there last week. Jeff, we'll talk about that's coming up with
- 33:45Hoppy and again. Hoppy's coverage from the Capitol begins at ten o six this
- 33:50morning tomorrow. On this show, Joshua Higginbotham is going to be here.
- 33:54Of course, former Delegate Higginbotham is getting back into politics to run for State
- 34:00Agriculture Commissioner, hoping to unseat the incumbent Kent Leonhardt. I was thinking about
- 34:07this earlier. Commissioner Leonhart is the only member of the Board of Public Works
- 34:13who is running for reelection because that consists of course the Governor, Secretary of
- 34:16State, Auditor, treasurer, ag Commissioner. Well, he's the only one
- 34:20that's run for reelections, So regardless of what happens in the election this year
- 34:24come January twenty twenty five, other than mister Leonhart's and he may or may
- 34:30not be there. We don't know how that's going to work out. But
- 34:32he's the only one that's actually running for that position. So even if he
- 34:36does win, all of the other seats are going to be filled by new
- 34:38people come next year. Interesting to think about again, josh Shagen Botham will
- 34:44be on the show tomorrow, And is this right? The people from Ryan
- 34:50I hope you're producing tomorrow. The people from Tudor's Biscuit World and Mister Be's
- 34:54Potato Chips are going to be on the show tomorrow. I don't think right.
- 34:59I don't think tomorrow show is Millie Snyder approved. But actually, these
- 35:04two companies, West Virginia based companies, Tutors and Mister Bees are working together
- 35:08on a project and they asked for a little time to talk about it.
- 35:13And they may or may not bring food. I don't know. I'm hoping,
- 35:15but maybe they will. I don't know. We'll see. But they're
- 35:17both great community partners and they are again going to be on the show tomorrow
- 35:22because they are working together on a project to better West Virginia. So well,
- 35:27give them a little time to talk on the show tomorrow as well.

- 35:39some from about the gubernatorial debate last night, others have to do with
- 35:45other things in the news, so it's kind of open lines. From this
- 35:46point on, text says interestingly, I was at, says the Texter,
- 35:51the gubernatorial debate at Glade Springs last night. Liberal Democrat Doug Scaff attended.
- 35:57He was working the crowd hard for votes, but out there was no one
- 36:00was buying what he was selling. Be aware of Democrat Doug's Scaff trying to
- 36:05pass himself off as a conservative. His voting record proofs he is liberal through
- 36:09and through. Also he uses a lot of f words in general conversations to
- 36:13voters. And I don't trust people like that, says a tax or Doug
- 36:16Scaff, of course, a reference to the former House minority leader that is
- 36:21now a Republican and is running for Secretary of State. Making an appearance as
- 36:24a Texter at the event at Glade Springs last night. Going back to Charleton
- 36:30City Council, Texas, David almost sounds like there was an insurrection at the
- 36:35council meeting Monday night. Any protesters arrested, not that I am aware of.
- 36:43I knew. I do know, as I said, I did not
- 36:45attend the city council meeting in person. I did watch it online and I
- 36:51did notice that when Mayor Goodwin called for the clearing of the council chambers,
- 36:58I did see on the camera that the of the that there were police that
- 37:01kind of jumped into action, or at least kind of stood there. And
- 37:06I don't mean that in a negative way. That didn't sound right, but
- 37:07I mean they were just kind of there to enforce the law. But to
- 37:12my knowledge, none were arrested. I did talk yesterday on the show.
- 37:15I had may Or a good one on the show yesterday as well as counselman
- 37:19Larry Moore, and they both talked about there was a lot of shouting that
- 37:23went on outside of the event, but to my knowledge, no one,
- 37:30no one was arrested. Reference to yesterday's show, Texas, if you wish
- 37:35for decorum in public, in a public meeting, how do you support DJ
- 37:39Troumo. I think that means Trump. His decorum and presidential debate was appalling,
- 37:44as was his lack of sustension of knowledge on any subject. Newslash.
- 37:49I don't support Donald Trump. I've said that. I don't know how many
- 37:52more times I can say that on the show. I appreciate the texture,
- 37:54but I and if that was meant towards me, I've said that the Trump
- 38:00train ended with me after I voted for him in twenty sixteen and twenty twenty.
- 38:04I will not in twenty twenty four. I've said that, So if
- 38:07that was AIM's kind of hard to tell. Sometimes who texts that was aimed
- 38:09at me? Not a Trump supporter? Sorry he lost me? He lost
- 38:14me? Okay, let me see cy you see text, says Dave.
- 38:25As an independent voter, I was disappointed with all the candidates Trump is not
- 38:31running and leaning toward Mayor Williams, says a texture reference to Mayor Steve Williams,
- 38:37who was the Democratic candidate for governor. So you know, you gotta
- 38:45go with what wins, and I get that, but I would like to
- 38:51see him. I will say this, I don't think in what I heard,
- 38:54I did not hear as much Trump talk as I thought I would.
- 39:00At one point, I'm very much paraphrasing here. I know Patrick Morrissey,
- 39:04Attorney General Morrissey said something like I am conservative, I'm pro call, pro
- 39:07gun, and pro Trump. You know that's in West Virginia. That's a
- 39:13selling point, and I understand marketing. That's what I do for a living.
- 39:15I get it. Uh, but yeah, that's this. Texture says
- 39:22that they're leaning toward Mayor Williams because of that. All four last night I
- 39:27think tried to paint themselves as the most conservative of the bunch. I will
- 39:34say this, none of them ever asked me for advice. I will say
- 39:36this that if you are going to say I'm a conservative like Trump, well
- 39:42it's gonna lose people because Donald Trump is far far from a conservative. Check
- 39:47the debt ran up on the watch of Donald Trump. Checked the border wall
- 39:52that he was going to build or have Mexico build, but didn't check the
- 39:55moral character of Donald Trump. Not a conservative at all. One of those
- 40:04people. It's my feeling though, it's it is my feeling that one of
- 40:07those people on that stage last night will be the next governor of the state
- 40:10of West Virginia. The audio debate from the show is posted on the Metro
- 40:19News site, So give it a listen if you would like. And I
- 40:22do think and it will suck up to the you know my mentor a little
- 40:23bit hob hoppy culture. I think he did a very good job as the
- 40:28as the moderator last night, Tex says I didn't listen to the debate either,
- 40:36but I could guess what the themes were. Kneeling to Trump, tax
- 40:39cuts for the wealthy and expanding government into the private lives of citizens, says
- 40:44a texture. Texture says, can someone be a good businessman if they took
- 40:47over a business that their dad built and mom propped up with federal loan money?
- 40:53Says a texture? Uh, Dave says the texture. Why wasn't the
- 41:04Why it wasn't The governor's debate last night video streamed. We listened to the
- 41:07debate and the four candidates were very civil and respectful. Thought Mack Warner was
- 41:12strong last night. Thanks well. The debate was sponsored by w o a
- 41:16Y Television. From what I understand now, they did ask copy to serve
- 41:20as the moderator, but woa Y Television, which is the ABC affiliate out
- 41:24of the out of the Beckley o Kill market, they sponsored it. Now
- 41:29in listening to it, I think they are going to replay that at some
- 41:32point on w o a Y Television. But it kind of would have been
- 41:37weird for us to come in with cameras when it's kind of their event.
- 41:39Now they were and again, hopy'll talk about this on the show. I'm
- 41:44sure, I'm sure this morning they were kind enough to let us stream the
- 41:46audio from that. We actually played it back following our coverage of high school
- 41:52basketball here on w c HS last night. But again, uh, there
- 41:55will be other ones that I'm sure are uh our video, But that was
- 42:00the way television event last night, and they just kind of let us again
- 42:04Hoppies the expert and this, he'll talk about it. They kind of let
- 42:06us go along with him with them on that. Texas Dave Miller Morrissey said
- 42:14they didn't take the COVID shot. Cabiteat didn't answer if he had, and
- 42:17Warner was the only one that took the vaccine. Crazy common sense to take
- 42:22the shot early in the siege would save millions of lives. Radical thinking,
- 42:25for sure. So it's a texture Texas, Dave. If you don't vote
- 42:30for Trump, surely you're not going to vote for Bid. No. No,
- 42:34I will not be voting for Joe Biden. I gotta say this.
- 42:37You know, I'm a big fan of Bill Maher, and I know Bill
- 42:40Maher is a very polarizing character. I don't always agree with everything Bill Maher
- 42:45says and does, but I did say. I did hear him say on
- 42:47one of his shows recently. He was talking about this, the race,
- 42:51if you will, between Biden and Trump, and he said that those two
- 42:57will be the nominees, which is, I'm paraphrasing here, bad news for
- 43:00America, but good news for those that install handrails on debate stages, because
- 43:07I've said it on this show, and in fact, this is the best
- 43:08we can do, are these two. And Trump's mental decline is really starting
- 43:15to show right now, I mean really, it's really And you cannot put
- 43:21politics aside, folks. You cannot listen to a speech by Donald Trump or
- 43:29Joe Biden and think that either one of them at their elevators stopping on all

- 46:57caught my attention a little bit, and it's to be discussed by and then
- 47:00stories posted WV metro news dot com. And has to do with smoking in
- 47:05vehicles. You know this, this has been debated four years. In full
- 47:09disclosure, I'm not a smoker. If you put all of the cigarettes I've
- 47:14smoked in my life together, it may be half a pack, if even
- 47:16that, because I did it. You know, I tried it when I
- 47:19was young and wasn't my thing, and and I got into this radio business.
- 47:22Went literally every my first radio job, literally everyone in the building smoked
- 47:28except for me, The secretaries, the janitorial staff, everybody smoked except for
- 47:32me. I just wasn't my thing. But smoking in vehicles has been debated
- 47:38for years. David Beard and the Morgantown Dominion Post is a story which we
- 47:42reposted at WV metro news dot com about this. Senator Tom Takubo from here
- 47:47in Kanawa County, himself a physician, spoke to the Health Committee of the
- 47:52Legislature yesterday, saying he was about to throw in the towel as it comes
- 47:59to a bill to prohibit smoking in vehicles where miners are present. Now,
- 48:06Senator Toakubo says, after some urging from his constituents, though he is bringing
- 48:10back, he's bringing it back. It is SB three seventy eight, and
- 48:15the bill says, in part, no person who is under eighteen may smoke
- 48:22or possess a lit tobacco product in a motor I'm sorry, over eighteen may
- 48:27possess a little let me start this whole thing over again. No person who's
- 48:31over eighteen may smoke or possess a lit tobacco product in a motor vehicle that
- 48:37has an individual sixteen years of age or younger in the vehicle. So basically,
- 48:45mom and dad, Grandpa, Grandma, big brother, big sisy,
- 48:49you can't smoke in a vehicle if you have a kid under sixteen in there.
- 48:52Now. If passed, it would be a misdemeanor with a fine of
- 48:58twenty five dollars. It also would be a secondary offense, meaning that the
- 49:04vehicle would have to be pulled over for something else. So a police officer
- 49:07can't see someone at a traffic light lighting up a cigarette with a five year
- 49:13old in the car and just automatically pulled them over. They had to pull
- 49:16them over for something else, they ran a stop sign, speeding, something
- 49:20of that nature, and then there could be a fine imposed. Then again,
- 49:24it's a misdemeanor find to twenty five dollars, so it's a secondary offense.
- 49:30Now the bill will now go to the full Senate. And there are
- 49:35those who say it's a violation of parental rights. You know, this is
- 49:44not even the dangers of secondhand smoke is not even debatable anymore, and some
- 49:51see it as a form of child abuse, which in my opinion, it
- 49:55is. So we'll see what happens. Maybe I'll try to get Centered Takubo
- 50:01on the show to talk about it in the very near future. Dave Allan
- 50:07showing five eighty Live, has brought to you party by Husband's Pizza. It's

- 50:23stage. Really, he's not the one who said he spoke with a leader
- 50:28of the G seven who's been dead for twenty seven years, or told a
- 50:30man in a wheelchair to stand up, or thanked a congresswoman at a rally
- 50:35who died in a car crash. He's also the one that said Nicki Haley
- 50:38should have done more at the capital. And Nicki Haley wasn't at the capital.
- 50:43So again, sorry, I mean, in the land of Plenty,
- 50:47the greatest nation on earth, this is the best we can do these two.
- 50:52I stand firm on. Tex says, come on, Dave, quit
- 50:55hating on Trumpey now, not gonna do it all right, Getting back to
- 51:02the city council situation. You know, I may have angered some people with
- 51:07some comments yesterday. I heard a little bit of it and some text can't
- 51:10necessarily read on the air for defending Mayor Goodwin for clearing the council chambers Monday
- 51:15night due to the childish behavior of some of the protesters, many of whom
- 51:21were not even from here. And as I said, go back and listen
- 51:23to my interview with Counselman Larry Moore. You can go back and listen to
- 51:27it on the website or however you choose to listen to it social media or
- 51:30whatever. And there was at one point, as Counselman More pointed out,
- 51:36many of the protesters didn't know who voted for what. They shouted shame,
- 51:39shame to a councilman who was actually on their side, because they didn't know
- 51:44the difference. And that's what happens when people don't live here, you know,
- 51:46and they come in and they try to stir this up when they don't
- 51:50actually live in the committy. Matter of fact, counsel Moore says that a
- 51:52few of them got in cars with Ohio tags and left here, So that
- 51:57tells you all you need to know about that. But Dave Vallan Show and
