- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
- 0:06Speaker 1: where we left off with the Hillary Clinton transcript from
- 0:09Speaker 1: her trip to Congress. Question and CGI started a few
- 0:15Speaker 1: years later. Is that right? Answer. I think that's right.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I think it started maybe 2005. Maybe I'm not sure.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Question and the CGI or the foundation more broadly perform
- 0:26Speaker 1: any work in sex trafficking or human trafficking around the world. Answer,
- 0:30Speaker 1: there may be partners whose commitments are about that. We
- 0:33Speaker 1: have thousands and thousands of commitments, so I can't answer
- 0:36Speaker 1: yes or no. But it might be an area that
- 0:38Speaker 1: some of our commitment makers would be focused on. Question,
- 0:42Speaker 1: and how did the foundation, the Clinton Foundation, how did
- 0:44Speaker 1: that idea come to fruition? Was that your idea? President
- 0:48Speaker 1: Clinton's idea? Answer, oh no, the Clinton Foundation was all
- 0:52Speaker 1: Bill's idea. He set it up as he was leaving
- 0:54Speaker 1: the White House. It was the entity that raised the
- 0:56Speaker 1: money to build the Clinton Presidential Center. and then to
- 0:59Speaker 1: carry on the work that he wanted to do. Shortly
- 1:02Speaker 1: after he got out of the White House, he and
- 1:04Speaker 1: Nelson Mandela were asked to come to the annual AIDS
- 1:07Speaker 1: conference to see whether the two of them could do
- 1:09Speaker 1: something that needed to be done, which was try to
- 1:12Speaker 1: stem the epidemic of HIV AIDS. And so Bill started
- 1:15Speaker 1: out trying to figure out how to deal with this
- 1:17Speaker 1: problem and came to the conclusion that the best way
- 1:20Speaker 1: would to be lower the price of drugs that were
- 1:22Speaker 1: being used in the United States, but they were too
- 1:25Speaker 1: expensive to be used around the world in order to
- 1:28Speaker 1: treat more people. And I really give huge credit to
- 1:30Speaker 1: both Bill's idea about how to do that, but also
- 1:33Speaker 1: huge credit to President George W. Bush. Because when President
- 1:37Speaker 1: Bush took Bill to Pope John Paul's funeral in Rome,
- 1:40Speaker 1: he and Bill were talking because President Bush was coming
- 1:43Speaker 1: forward with the PEPFAR program. And so he and Bill
- 1:46Speaker 1: were talking and President Bush was very committed to this.
- 1:50Speaker 1: And Bill was very committed. And so Bill said to
- 1:53Speaker 1: President Bush, I now have generic drugs being made in
- 1:56Speaker 1: places like India and that are much cheaper than the
- 1:59Speaker 1: brand name drugs, and you could, with tax money, treat
- 2:02Speaker 1: many more people. And so President Bush, to his credit, said, yeah,
- 2:06Speaker 1: but my folks tell me that the drugs aren't as
- 2:08Speaker 1: good as ours. And Bill said, I'll give them to you.
- 2:11Speaker 1: You give them to the FDA, you test them, and
- 2:14Speaker 1: I'll abide by your test. I think you can ask
- 2:16Speaker 1: him if you want tomorrow, but I think he gave,
- 2:18Speaker 1: I don't know, like 24 drugs, and the FDA approved 22.
- 2:23Speaker 1: And President Bush was good to his word. And so
- 2:26Speaker 1: we began as the United States and the Clinton Foundation.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Because of that connection and that partnership, we began treating
- 2:32Speaker 1: millions of people with low-cost drugs, with federal PEPFAR money,
- 2:36Speaker 1: saving millions of lives. Sadly, that's going to be reversed
- 2:39Speaker 1: because of the attitude of this administration and the cutbacks,
- 2:43Speaker 1: but it was one of the greatest services to humanity.
- 2:45Speaker 1: And I give President Bush, I give my husband, enormous
- 2:49Speaker 1: credit for doing something that wasn't going to get them headlines,
- 2:52Speaker 1: wasn't going to get them some kind of statue put up,
- 2:55Speaker 1: but was saving millions of lives, preventing mother-to-child transmission, preventing
- 2:59Speaker 1: people from dying. So that's what he was doing. Question,
- 3:04Speaker 1: and thank you for that. Did Mr. Band play a
- 3:07Speaker 1: significant role in helping set up the foundation initially? Answer,
- 3:11Speaker 1: yes he did. Question, and when CGI was initially created,
- 3:15Speaker 1: whose idea was that? Answer, it was Bill's idea. He
- 3:18Speaker 1: went to Davos, and he called me after he'd been
- 3:20Speaker 1: at Davos and said, a lot of interesting people. but
- 3:23Speaker 1: they don't do anything but talk, and I have a
- 3:25Speaker 1: better idea. Why don't we get people together, and yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 1: they can talk, but they have to make commitments, and
- 3:31Speaker 1: they have to follow through on the commitments. And we
- 3:34Speaker 1: could have an annual meeting that would bring people who
- 3:36Speaker 1: were willing to make commitments. And that was his idea,
- 3:39Speaker 1: and I thought it was a really good idea. And
- 3:41Speaker 1: I encouraged him to go out and see if he
- 3:43Speaker 1: could put it together. Question, are you aware of any,
- 3:47Speaker 1: excuse me, are you aware of anyone else helping formulate
- 3:50Speaker 1: the idea of CGI? Answer, oh, I think he talked
- 3:53Speaker 1: to a lot of people. I couldn't tell you who,
- 3:55Speaker 1: but he talked to a lot of people. Question, did Mr.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Epstein have a role in shaping the formation of CGI? Answer,
- 4:02Speaker 1: I have no idea. I don't know anything about that. Question,
- 4:05Speaker 1: did Ghislaine Maxwell have any role in shaping CGI? Answer,
- 4:10Speaker 1: I don't have any idea about that. Question, I'll enter
- 4:13Speaker 1: as Majority Exhibit 11, the interview between Deputy Attorney General
- 4:17Speaker 1: Todd Blanche and Ms. Maxwell from July of 2025. We'll
- 4:21Speaker 1: get you a copy momentarily. Speaker number two, which is
- 4:26Speaker 1: one of the lawyers for Hillary. Question. And I'm sorry,
- 4:31Speaker 1: what was this exhibit? Answer. This will be Majority 11.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I'd like to direct your attention to page 263. And
- 4:40Speaker 1: on 263, Ms. Maxwell tells Mr. Blanche that she had
- 4:43Speaker 1: a role in shaping CGI. You said you were not
- 4:46Speaker 1: aware of Ms. Maxwell having any role in shaping CGI? Answer,
- 4:50Speaker 1: I was not involved in the creation of CGI. Again,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I was in the United States Senate. I was not
- 4:55Speaker 1: involved in the work that was done to set up CGI. Question,
- 4:59Speaker 1: no one discussed the formation of CGI with you? Answer,
- 5:02Speaker 1: that it was going to be set up, but I
- 5:05Speaker 1: don't have any specific recollection of having any specific knowledge
- 5:08Speaker 1: of it, no. Question, did Mr. Epstein help craft the
- 5:11Speaker 1: idea or formulation of CGI? Answer, I don't have any idea.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I don't know anything about that. Question, is it possible
- 5:18Speaker 1: that Ms. Maxwell... Had a role in creating CGI? Answer,
- 5:22Speaker 1: I'm not going to speculate. I'm here to tell you
- 5:24Speaker 1: what I know, and I don't know anything about that. Question, understood,
- 5:28Speaker 1: and it's possible Mr. Epstein had a role in crafting
- 5:31Speaker 1: the CGI. Clinton, I'm not going to speculate about that either,
- 5:35Speaker 1: because I have no way of knowing that because I
- 5:37Speaker 1: have no direct knowledge. Question, I will enter now as
- 5:41Speaker 1: Majority Exhibit 12. This will be a letter from Mr.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Epstein's attorneys. I'll give you a second for it to
- 5:46Speaker 1: be passed out. This is a letter dated July 6, 2007.
- 5:49Speaker 1: It's from Gerald B. Lefcourt. He was an attorney for Mr. Epstein.
- 5:55Speaker 1: He sent this to the prosecution in the Southern District
- 5:58Speaker 1: of Florida. That would be Sloman, Mitchell, Lurie, and Villafana.
- 6:02Speaker 1: And I will direct your attention to page 21. At
- 6:05Speaker 1: the top paragraph of page 21, it says Mr. Epstein
- 6:08Speaker 1: was part of the original group that conceived the Clinton
- 6:11Speaker 1: Global Initiative, which is described as a project bringing together
- 6:15Speaker 1: a community of global leaders and to devise and implement
- 6:19Speaker 1: innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges. Again,
- 6:23Speaker 1: is it possible Mr. Epstein played a role in crafting CGI? Answer,
- 6:28Speaker 1: I have no idea what he did or what he
- 6:30Speaker 1: said he did, and I have no way to testify
- 6:32Speaker 1: to the veracity of either. I was not involved. Question,
- 6:35Speaker 1: have you seen this document before? Answer, no. Question, the
- 6:38Speaker 1: Clinton Foundation accepts donations as part of carrying out its work.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Is that accurate? Answer, yes. Question, and when seeking, let
- 6:46Speaker 1: me take a step back. People charitably provide donations to
- 6:49Speaker 1: the foundation. Answer, it's a 501c3, yes. Question, and do
- 6:54Speaker 1: you or anyone else at the foundation ever solicit donations
- 6:58Speaker 1: from the foundation? Answer, I'm sure that happens. People talk
- 7:02Speaker 1: to us. We talk to people. They ask questions about
- 7:04Speaker 1: the work that's being done, and I'm sure that happened
- 7:07Speaker 1: in the years before I was involved. Question, did you
- 7:10Speaker 1: solicit funds from Jeffrey Epstein for the foundation? Answer, I
- 7:14Speaker 1: had no contact with Jeffrey Epstein. I did not solicit
- 7:17Speaker 1: funds from Jeffrey Epstein. Question, did you solicit funds for
- 7:21Speaker 1: the foundation from Ms. Maxwell? Answer, I did not. Again,
- 7:25Speaker 1: we're talking about the creation of the foundation. I was
- 7:28Speaker 1: not involved in the creation of the foundation or the
- 7:31Speaker 1: creation of CGI. In those early years, I was incredibly
- 7:34Speaker 1: focused on my job in the Senate. Bill was focused
- 7:38Speaker 1: on setting up the foundation and starting CGI. Question, and
- 7:42Speaker 1: understanding that you were occupied with your career as a
- 7:45Speaker 1: senator and then your presidential campaign leading up to 2008,
- 7:49Speaker 1: but at this time, were you discussing starting the CGI
- 7:52Speaker 1: with President Clinton? Answer, I'm going to object to any
- 7:55Speaker 1: communication between the two of them. You can ask generally,
- 7:58Speaker 1: but that's covered by the marital communications privilege. And of course,
- 8:02Speaker 1: that's Clinton's lawyer jumping in. Question, understood. So generally speaking, Clinton...
- 8:08Speaker 1: I'm sure that I talked to my husband about what
- 8:10Speaker 1: he was doing to set up the foundation. It was
- 8:12Speaker 1: more on the substance of the work. How many drugs
- 8:14Speaker 1: was he getting? Made in India. What was the idea
- 8:17Speaker 1: that was going to motivate CGI to be what he
- 8:20Speaker 1: wanted it to be? It was not in the weeds.
- 8:23Speaker 1: It was the concept. It was the excitement that he
- 8:25Speaker 1: had about trying to establish the foundation and CGI. Question
- 8:30Speaker 1: and similar question for Mr. Band. Did you discuss the
- 8:32Speaker 1: creation of CGI with Mr. Band? Answer. I may have
- 8:37Speaker 1: because he was around. He worked for my husband. He
- 8:39Speaker 1: was a personal aide to my husband. But I don't
- 8:42Speaker 1: have any recollection of any specific conversation. Question. Broadly speaking,
- 8:46Speaker 1: at any time, do you recall any discussion related to
- 8:49Speaker 1: distancing the foundation or CGI from Mr. Epstein or Ms. Maxwell? Answer.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I don't recall any conversations. I know that sometime, maybe
- 8:59Speaker 1: in 2003 or so, Bill did not have any ongoing
- 9:01Speaker 1: contact with Epstein and in preparation for the hearing, It
- 9:04Speaker 1: became clear to him that Epstein was not interested in
- 9:07Speaker 1: the charitable work that was motivating Bill as he traveled
- 9:10Speaker 1: around the world, getting people to commit to providing low-cost
- 9:13Speaker 1: drugs for not just HIV AIDS, but eventually tuberculosis, malaria,
- 9:18Speaker 1: and other diseases. Question, and what is your understanding of Mr.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Epstein no longer wanting to participate in the Foundation's philanthropic goals? Answer,
- 9:27Speaker 1: I don't. Only in preparation for this have I been
- 9:30Speaker 1: told that there was no real interest there. And you know,
- 9:32Speaker 1: There was no point in being involved or connected to him. Question,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and we touched on this. Correct me if I'm wrong.
- 9:39Speaker 1: You said you were not aware of Mr. Epstein donating
- 9:41Speaker 1: to the foundation. Would you consider, let me back up,
- 9:44Speaker 1: President Clinton took trips on Mr. Epstein's jet, is that correct? Answer, yes. Question,
- 9:49Speaker 1: would you consider offering a private jet as a donation
- 9:52Speaker 1: in kind to the foundation? Answer, well, I don't know
- 9:55Speaker 1: what the rules are under 5013 regulation, but it was
- 9:58Speaker 1: certainly a gift, and he was one of a number
- 10:00Speaker 1: of people who provided transportation so that Bill could do
- 10:03Speaker 1: the work that he was doing. Question. Okay. And I
- 10:06Speaker 1: think we touched on this. Did Mr. Epstein end up
- 10:08Speaker 1: donating to the foundation or CGI? Answer. I have no
- 10:12Speaker 1: personal knowledge of that. Question. You're not aware of a $ 25, 000
- 10:15Speaker 1: donation to From Mr. Epstein's affiliated companies to the foundation? Answer.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Only what I was told was alleged in preparation for
- 10:24Speaker 1: this testimony. I didn't know about that, and I don't
- 10:27Speaker 1: know that that's true. Question. Are you aware of the
- 10:30Speaker 1: Clinton Foundation reviewing any records in regard to Mr. Epstein
- 10:33Speaker 1: donating to the foundation? Answer. I will have our lawyers
- 10:37Speaker 1: look at it because I did not. Question. Have you
- 10:40Speaker 1: had any conversations about the foundation reviewing those donations made
- 10:43Speaker 1: by Mr. Epstein? Answer. I think I'll have to ask
- 10:46Speaker 1: our lawyers. I don't know. I didn't review them. All right, folks,
- 10:49Speaker 1: we're going to wrap up right here. And in the
- 10:51Speaker 1: next episode, we're going to pick up with Nancy Mace
- 10:54Speaker 1: asking some questions. All the information that goes with this
- 10:57Speaker 1: episode can be found in the description box.
