- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the noisy chicken coop.
- 0:32OK, so today we are talking about recovery week part three
- 0:36and we are looking at how you eat.
- 0:40Not just what you eat, but how you eat there.
- 0:42It has been said that we are so mindless that we just stuff
- 0:46things in our face as we walk around.
- 0:48We don't think about it, especially at holiday parties.
- 0:51So if you are someone who works in an office and there's always
- 0:55cake being served, and there's. Always fun things being done in
- 0:59office. This is something you have to
- 1:00look at. For those of you who ever seen
- 1:02Seinfeld fans and have ever seen the episode, when Elaine gets
- 1:05completely annoyed by the fact that they're constantly having
- 1:08birthday parties there and she's like doesn't want to partake
- 1:11anymore because it's the constant sugar, I feel that I I
- 1:16completely understand that because it is hard.
- 1:19It is really, really, really hard to have.
- 1:23The constant things put in front of you and you are like having
- 1:27to say no, but you feel empowered when you do say no if
- 1:32you're in the right headspace. So first of all, how you eat
- 1:35matters. So getting yourself in the
- 1:36headspace of saying no, this is how I'm going to handle myself
- 1:39the next week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, whatever you're going to do up
- 1:42until Christmas. For me personally, this is
- 1:44happening up until Christmas. I'm going to put myself in the
- 1:48food vault and I'm going to be eating super, super clean up
- 1:51until Christmas because I typically know how many people
- 1:57end up getting sick between now and Christmas.
- 1:59And my belief it is has a ton to do with the amount of food and
- 2:04alcohol, sugar that goes into our bodies.
- 2:07So I'm going to wildly limit it, and I do know that.
- 2:11Just my own observation of myself, and I'm sure any of you
- 2:13listening have had the same thing.
- 2:15There's certain times you'll go and you'll get food and you'll
- 2:17come home and you'll feel fine. And the next morning you wake up
- 2:21and you look like you got punched in the face.
- 2:22You look in the mirror and you go, Oh my God, look at my face.
- 2:26It's all wrinkled. It looks old.
- 2:28It looks terrible. And that's based on the food
- 2:30that you've just eaten. It's based on the fact that you
- 2:33have not enough hydration. It's based on the fact that you
- 2:37you actually didn't. Understand what was going to
- 2:41happen when it went into your body and metabolized.
- 2:44Or you didn't care. Maybe you did understand, but
- 2:45you didn't care because it seemed like it was OK in the
- 2:48moment, which is fine to do sometimes, as long as you handle
- 2:51your recovery time. And the recovery time is
- 2:54incredibly important. So it's, you know, gives your
- 2:57body a break, lets you do this, and you recognize, how am I
- 3:02eating? Am I just doing it out of habit?
- 3:05Am I just walking by the bowl? So I have a client.
- 3:09And that has talked to me about how in her office there's always
- 3:12somebody who has a desk that has M and Ms. in a glass bowl and
- 3:15the M and Ms. are always there. And every time she walks by, she
- 3:18sees them. So it used to be every time she
- 3:20walked by and she would see them, she would say, Oh my gosh,
- 3:23I just want to go grab a handful of those M and Ms. And we had to
- 3:27work on the fact of mindful and eating, which is OK.
- 3:31If you're going to do it, you have to do it and be present
- 3:33with it and acknowledge that you're going to take that sugar
- 3:35into your body. Acknowledge that you're going to
- 3:38put it in there and you're going to eat it.
- 3:41Don't make yourself wrong for it if you really want it, but
- 3:44understand I'm choosing the sugar right now so you won't be
- 3:48mad at yourself later. Well, that little activity of
- 3:50choosing the sugar. As soon as she would say I'm
- 3:52choosing the sugar, she would say why, What am I doing?
- 3:55This isn't even what I want. And it would make her course
- 3:57correct and it was such a great thing.
- 4:00But it can't. It comes down to one simple fact
- 4:03it's all about. Awareness and choosing it.
- 4:06It's all about stopping and saying, OK, I'm going to pay
- 4:10attention to how I'm eating. Am I eating mindfully or am I
- 4:13eating mindlessly? Because that makes the big
- 4:15difference. So when you sit down to actually
- 4:18have a plate of food, make sure you're very present in that
- 4:22thought process. Make sure you're sitting down
- 4:24and everything that you go to the stove and you scoop out and
- 4:27put on your plate, think about it and say, OK, is this really
- 4:31how much I want? Do do I really need this much of
- 4:34this? And you'll be surprised at how
- 4:37you start to shift it. You'll start to pay attention
- 4:40to, OK, I'm full. I don't need to be stuffed
- 4:43because there is a difference between being full and being
- 4:45stuffed. And I know you get it because I
- 4:48know the difference in my own body And unless you have some
- 4:51physical. Impediment that causes you to
- 4:54not recognize that we all have it.
- 4:57So it's something to be very, very conscious of.
- 5:00Am I full? Do I really need that extra
- 5:02piece? Because most if we listen to
- 5:04most of us, we go, Oh no, I'm stuffed, I am stuffed.
- 5:07And that is an important piece. And to recognize, OK, my
- 5:11friends, go out there, start paying attention to how you are
- 5:14eating, take care of yourself. And no mindless eating, mindful
- 5:18eating, not mindless eating. OK my friends, I will see you
- 5:22tomorrow and I hope you have a blessed day.
- 5:24Bye.
