- 0:00Speaker 1: I have a question for you guys what secret test
- 0:03Speaker 1: have you given someone without them even knowing they were
- 0:06Speaker 1: taking it So I was online and I saw this
- 0:10Speaker 1: piece on psychology today.
- 0:11Speaker 2: And it's all.
- 0:13Speaker 1: About relationship tests people use instead of just asking for
- 0:16Speaker 1: what they need.
- 0:16Speaker 2: For example, when someone says, I'm fine, they're really not fine.
- 0:21Speaker 2: We know this. But what it is is a secret
- 0:23Speaker 2: test to see whether or not you realize they're not fine.
- 0:27Speaker 2: And if you do, you get the bonus points. And
- 0:28Speaker 2: if you don't, get ready for the fight.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Right?
- 0:31Speaker 4: That's a tough test. That's a tough because I'm assuming
- 0:34Speaker 4: they say I'm fine. You talk about people in your
- 0:36Speaker 4: world that you love and care for. Not like if
- 0:37Speaker 4: I'm like, hey, how are you doing?
- 0:38Speaker 5: Fine.
- 0:39Speaker 4: I'm not going to go. Wait a minute, sir.
- 0:41Speaker 6: Right.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 0:43Speaker 4: These are testing.
- 0:44Speaker 1: These are tests that we relationship tests. So people, your
- 0:47Speaker 1: friends or your loved ones, if you will. So another
- 0:50Speaker 1: one is saying, don't worry about my birthday and absolutely
- 0:54Speaker 1: worrying about your birthday.
- 0:55Speaker 3: That's that's kind of that's tough. Don't put people in
- 0:58Speaker 3: that position.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Right. There are.
- 1:00Speaker 3: That's too rough.
- 1:00Speaker 1: There are some people in relationships, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, whatever,
- 1:04Speaker 1: that leave something undone just to see if they notice.
- 1:09Speaker 1: And I feel like I've done this before because I
- 1:14Speaker 1: don't like.
- 1:14Speaker 2: The fact that I cook dinner every night.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And it's just this unspoken thing that apparently that's my
- 1:19Speaker 1: responsibility to get dinner on the table.
- 1:21Speaker 2: And so I kind of like.
- 1:23Speaker 1: have never really chatted about this, which is my fault
- 1:25Speaker 1: because we know it's communication. But I kind of feel
- 1:27Speaker 1: like if I cook dinner and I'm cooking three different
- 1:29Speaker 1: dinners a night, I shouldn't have to do the dishes too.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I shouldn't have to.
- 1:34Speaker 1: So I will leave them undone just to see if
- 1:36Speaker 1: anyone else in my house does it.
- 1:38Speaker 2: And guess what? They don't.
- 1:42Speaker 4: That's a great test. That is a great test. You
- 1:45Speaker 4: also shouldn't have to make three different dinners every night too.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:48Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:49Speaker 2: But that's, I just, that's my fault. That's on me.
- 1:52Speaker 1: But every night I do use that as like a,
- 1:54Speaker 1: when I'm like, what would you like to eat?
- 1:55Speaker 2: And the kids say, I don't know.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I'm like, eventually I'm just going to make one thing
- 1:59Speaker 1: and whatever it is, you have to eat it.
- 2:00Speaker 2: But until then I, yeah, we'll make you just separate dinner.
- 2:03Speaker 1: But there are little tests that you do just to
- 2:06Speaker 1: see if your partners will notice.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Or sort of test them.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Leah, Leah, you got a test, a secret test you
- 2:11Speaker 4: do on people?
- 2:12Speaker 7: I do. Well, I, I'm one specific guy.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Okay.
- 2:16Speaker 5: What is it?
- 2:18Speaker 7: Well, cause my boyfriend, he kept, well, my ex kept
- 2:22Speaker 7: joking around that if someone offered him money, he'd sell
- 2:26Speaker 7: me out. And then, so I'm like, okay, well, you know,
- 2:30Speaker 7: how steep is his price? And so I had my
- 2:33Speaker 7: best friend call him pretending to be like a producer
- 2:36Speaker 7: of a reality dating show. And they told him, she
- 2:39Speaker 7: told him that they would pay $ 10, 000 to come on
- 2:43Speaker 7: and explain why he secretly was unhappy in his relationship.
- 2:47Speaker 7: So he actually agreed. And apparently he gave them like
- 2:50Speaker 7: a 45 minute interview about my worst habit. I didn't
- 2:56Speaker 7: even know were annoying him. And so then like the
- 3:00Speaker 7: producer then asked him if he'd be willing to pretend
- 3:02Speaker 7: to break up with me on camera for an extra five.
- 3:05Speaker 7: And he was like, sure.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 3:09Speaker 7: I knew it was going to be bad, but oh
- 3:12Speaker 7: my God.
- 3:12Speaker 3: He's trying to make money for you guys. He's trying to,
- 3:15Speaker 3: you know, fill the coffers with some cash for you.
- 3:18Speaker 3: But he broke up anyway.
- 3:19Speaker 7: I told him, but he was like, where's my money?
- 3:22Speaker 7: And then like, I'm like, surprise. It was just a test.
- 3:25Speaker 7: He told me that I was like insane and crazy.
- 3:28Speaker 7: And then I was like, oh, please. That's like coming
- 3:31Speaker 7: from someone who was like about to sell us out
- 3:34Speaker 7: for like 15,000. I mean, come on.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Well, it's a good thing you broke up with him. Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 3: That must have brought it on faster.
- 3:40Speaker 4: But that's a test, a very skewed personal test you
- 3:43Speaker 4: could only do probably one time. It is true. Thanks, Lee. 877-937-1047.
- 3:46Speaker 4: We'll hear about more secret tests. Kyle has a thing
- 3:58Speaker 4: from psychology today about the secret tests that we give people, right?
- 4:01Speaker 4: Without knowing.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Without telling them.
- 4:03Speaker 4: They don't know they've taken the test, but you give
- 4:05Speaker 4: it to them. And it reminded me, I told you
- 4:07Speaker 4: guys a long time ago, the bird test.
- 4:09Speaker 2: That's right. You did it to all of us.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Yeah. So the way it works in relationships, if you're married, boyfriend, husband, girlfriend,
- 4:15Speaker 4: you say, oh, look at this bird outside. Check out
- 4:17Speaker 4: this bird. And whatever it is about the bird, the
- 4:19Speaker 4: point is they should care enough about what you're saying
- 4:22Speaker 4: to go look at the bird and comment on the bird.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Ever since we've done that test, I use a different
- 4:27Speaker 4: version of the test. I feel like my wife's testing me.
- 4:31Speaker 4: She'll talk about owls or she talks about a car
- 4:34Speaker 4: or she talks about a person's outfit. I go out
- 4:36Speaker 4: of my way to make sure I'm looking at whatever
- 4:39Speaker 4: she's talking about because I want to pass the test. Although,
- 4:43Speaker 4: I don't think she's testing me.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Right. She just thinks you're attentive about her conversation.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Dude, I'll be like, she'll be like, oh, I think
- 4:50Speaker 4: that owl's in the backyard. And I'll be like, I
- 4:52Speaker 4: get up.
- 4:53Speaker 3: That's a reverse secret test.
- 4:54Speaker 4: I better go look at this freaking owl. So I
- 4:56Speaker 4: get up and I walk over. Oh, yeah, it's really great.
- 4:58Speaker 4: I go back and I'm like, she's not testing me.
- 5:00Speaker 4: But Evan, you got a secret test you give people?
- 5:03Speaker 5: I do have a secret test.
- 5:04Speaker 4: What's the secret test?
- 5:05Speaker 5: So my girlfriend kept saying that she could always tell
- 5:09Speaker 5: when a guy was lying. So I decided to test her.
- 5:13Speaker 5: I had my buddy create a fake Instagram account for
- 5:16Speaker 5: a woman who was supposed to be, you know, working
- 5:20Speaker 5: with me. And she started messaging my girlfriend claiming we'd
- 5:24Speaker 5: been secretly dating for months. I expected my girlfriend to, like,
- 5:29Speaker 5: laugh and tell me about it. But instead, she invited
- 5:32Speaker 5: this fake woman to our apartment for coffee so she could, quote,
- 5:37Speaker 5: hear her side.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Why is that bad on her?
- 5:40Speaker 6: I know.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I'm like, well, she wanted to get the full story.
- 5:43Speaker 3: She wanted the info.
- 5:45Speaker 2: That's as your test backfired, I feel like.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Yeah, she believed that somebody was telling the truth and
- 5:49Speaker 3: she just wanted to further investigate it.
- 5:51Speaker 5: And so my buddy shows up in a wig, okay?
- 5:57Speaker 5: You know, we make sure he's passable and everything. And
- 6:00Speaker 5: my girlfriend spent two hours interrogating him before he cracked
- 6:04Speaker 5: and admitted everything. The crazy part is that she then
- 6:10Speaker 5: turned to me and said, now I know you're capable
- 6:14Speaker 5: of cheating because you were willing to set this up.
- 6:17Speaker 3: What? Did you guys stay together?
- 6:20Speaker 5: I mean, I've been sleeping on the couch, but yeah,
- 6:23Speaker 5: we're still together. She just.
- 6:25Speaker 4: And your friend?
- 6:26Speaker 5: This was recently.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Passed himself off for two hours? Hopefully I can regain
- 6:30Speaker 3: bed rights soon enough. Must have had a baby face. Yeah.
- 6:33Speaker 1: When you started describing this, I was like, this is
- 6:35Speaker 1: a dangerous test to do.
- 6:37Speaker 5: It is.
- 6:38Speaker 4: You know what test has been ruined because of technology, Evan?
- 6:41Speaker 4: If you guys think about it, this is a test
- 6:42Speaker 4: that people used to do all the time. Guys, especially
- 6:44Speaker 4: on girls, but you can't do anymore. Because of the
- 6:48Speaker 4: remote door unlocker. Beep, beep. Because the test used to
- 6:51Speaker 4: be you open the car door for the girl, the
- 6:53Speaker 4: girl gets in the car, and then she's supposed to
- 6:55Speaker 4: lean over and unlock your door. But before, that was
- 6:58Speaker 4: a big test.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Don't have to do that anymore.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Now, yeah.
- 7:01Speaker 2: The door's already unlocked.
- 7:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:03Speaker 4: All right, brother. Hey, thanks for calling in, man. Very
- 7:06Speaker 4: crazy test. I know I used to do a whole
- 7:08Speaker 4: bunch of them. My wife, she passed them all. I
- 7:10Speaker 4: just don't remember what they are, but they're all very like,
- 7:12Speaker 4: I'd be like, Oh, she did that. Or like if
- 7:14Speaker 4: she goes and gets, goes to a Starbucks or something,
- 7:17Speaker 4: she always get me something. Or she goes to the grocery.
- 7:19Speaker 4: You know how when you go to the grocery store,
- 7:20Speaker 4: do you ever call your husband and you'd be like, Hey,
- 7:21Speaker 4: what do you need? I'm going to the grocery store.
- 7:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 7:24Speaker 4: She doesn't do that because she knows she gets what
- 7:26Speaker 4: I want.
- 7:27Speaker 3: You want the same thing. You want grapes.
- 7:29Speaker 5: I know.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I can tell you that. I don't need to call
- 7:30Speaker 3: you for grapes.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I feel like my wife's testing me all the time,
- 7:34Speaker 4: and I pass because... But she's not testing me.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Because she's not actually testing you.
- 7:39Speaker 4: I think everything's a test.
- 7:40Speaker 5: I know. Anyway.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Juan, what's up?
- 7:44Speaker 6: Well, I normally would text the person first every time,
- 7:48Speaker 6: like inviting them to dinner or movies or plays or
- 7:52Speaker 6: events or whatever.
- 7:54Speaker 4: And then I.
- 7:54Speaker 6: Decided, oh, yeah, I always send the one... Sending the
- 7:58Speaker 6: first text and inviting... Let's see if they're going to
- 8:01Speaker 6: text me first and invite me somewhere they never did.
- 8:05Speaker 6: And it's been like 10 years.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Whoa.
- 8:10Speaker 3: The whole now got you no invites.
- 8:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:13Speaker 3: That's sad.
- 8:14Speaker 2: That is sad.
- 8:15Speaker 5: I know.
- 8:16Speaker 2: So do you feel like that's a test fail or
- 8:18Speaker 2: a test success?
- 8:21Speaker 6: Actually, it's a success for me.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Did you have to go anywhere?
- 8:25Speaker 3: Right. You don't have to make plans? That would be
- 8:28Speaker 3: so sad. Yeah, I don't have to.
- 8:29Speaker 6: Make plans and But, I mean, yeah, it kind of
- 8:33Speaker 6: makes me sad because, I mean, me and I liked her,
- 8:36Speaker 6: but apparently not.
- 8:37Speaker 4: The other way around.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Juan, thanks for listening, man. Thanks for calling in. 877-937-1047.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Secret tests that you pull on people.
