- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Welcome back to the Beyond Limits podcast.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Today we are diving into something super juicy because your nervous system is selling before you even speak.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Most people think that sales is about messaging and copy and what they're saying, but it's actually more about your nervous system.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Because before someone even processes your words, their body has already registered yours.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Even if you're not in front of them, just from the energy and the frequency that they see online or in the email.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: It's your tone, it's the pausing, it's your eye contact if there's video, it's the words you are using, because you'll choose different words depending on how convicted your nervous system is.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: So because your nervous system is selling before you even speak, if it contracts during selling, your income will fall harder than it needs to.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: So that's why today we're talking about powerful body language, tone, and also what conviction looks like in your nervous system when it comes to these things.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: So conviction versus contraction, right?
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: Conviction is not loud, it's simply solid.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: When you are convicted, your body moves less, right?
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: You're not fidgeting.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: You end up speaking slower, you pause.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: If you listen to the previous episode, we spoke about silence.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Make sure you're caught up on that one.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: You hold eye contact, there's no rush.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Your nervous system is regulated.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Your parasympathetic system is dominant.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: You are grounded.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: Now, contrast that with contraction, right?
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: When you're dysregulated, your tone rises slightly at the end of sentences.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: It's like you add a question at the end and it gets a little bit faster, right?
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Your pitch lifts up, your speech speeds up, you lean forward, you end up adding filler language.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: I think about this before I did personal power work.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: I think about even the way I used to answer the phone or like just call someone to like make an appointment, like call the hairdresser to make an appointment.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: My pitch would go really high, and I'd ask it, like it'd be high at the end and ask the question.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: It was a simple hair appointment.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: But you can see this no matter what you do, and it's so funny.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Last week a client says, Your voice is so deep.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: Do you do that on purpose?
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: And I was like, What?
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: I was like, no, I I had I never thought my voice was deep, but it's so funny.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: People realize your tone without you even realizing it, without you even trying when you're speaking from power and from conviction.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: So the way your tone changes while selling is one of the most powerful tells.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: And I want you to really realize this where you can sound bold when you're certain, but maybe when you sell, your tone softens.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: I mean, this can even be true if you do sales calls or if you run masterclasses, anything where you're talking online and like maybe when you're teaching or you're you're doing the first part of it, you're solid.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: But when you go to sell, your tone drops off, like you completely change, right?
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: You add disclaimers or you get that high pitch, your body changes, your voice changes, like you become a different person.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Because you shifted into selling and that selling act activated a threat sequence, right?
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: Because somewhere you perceive selling as a threat, right?
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: You perceive that you are going to be evaluated.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: You perceive that you could potentially be rejected, right?
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: Your system perceives they're judging me, they could say no, and they could reject me.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: And if your system associates rejection with threat, your body will contract, right?
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: And that contraction will show up, right?
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Your pitch changes, your cadence changes, your breathing even gets different.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: And that shift leaks power at the exact moment you really require the power.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: So, what this is about is your nervous system no longer associating rejection with threat.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: And the thing is that most people aren't sitting there consciously thinking, oh, her tone shifted, but they hear it.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: I mean, you might now, because you've listened to this episode and you're awake to it.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: I know I see this now.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: But what their nervous system will register is, you know, she's unsure, she needs this, or she's not fully convinced or anchored about that.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: And that kind of uncertainty will always, you know, slow decisions.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Conviction accelerates them.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: So let's dive into some of the neuroscience of like your voice and your vocals, because your voice changes based on your nervous system state, like we said a few minutes ago.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: When you're in sympathetic mode, when you're dysregulated, your pitch goes up and you go faster.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: When you're regulated, right, your pitch is lower, your speech is slower, your pause increases, your breath deepens, your words land.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: I want you to go back and just watch some videos of yourself if you have them.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: If I even go back to like some of my content that I made like five years ago when I was like less confident and, you know, just starting out, 1000%, I can hear it in my voice, I can feel it in my energy.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: And now, you know, I'll see with clients, clients like, can you like look at my stories?
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: Can you look at this and like tell me like, how does the frequency feel?
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: And we're actually working on a lot of those unconscious things that energetically really dictate sales, right?
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: That really dictate how people perceive what you are saying.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: And that's why I've said you can have the most perfect copy, but if it's delivered with a lack of conviction and if it's basically delivered with a question mark at the end, then it doesn't matter if it's the best copy in the world.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: And the big thing here is that when it comes to your voice, right, your voice signals safety.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Safety signals leadership, leadership signals trust.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: Trust converts.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: And silence is one of the most cleanest power diagnostics you can use.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: We spoke about that in the previous episode, right?
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Silence after stating a price, silence after presenting an offer, silence after a bold post.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: Silence makes you uncomfortable.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: Your nervous system is going to try to go into fixing mode.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: And we went into how to solve that in the previous episode.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: But I want you to really notice this when it comes to silence and speaking and your tone.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: If you've noticed this, I remember, you know, there have been times where I've sat on the receiving end of a sales call and I could tell that I was the one in my power because when there was silence, I didn't rush to fill it.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: They leaned, they physically leaned forward on it, started like in the Zoom and went like this and started talking like this.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: And they would start faster and they would lean forward and they fill the silence.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh, that's interesting.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: They feel they feel the need to fill the silence.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: That's weird.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: They don't feel confident.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: And I could tell that they don't feel confident.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: And something that I perhaps would have purchased that felt aligned, all of a sudden, I felt like, well, they're not very convicted.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: They're not very empowered by this.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: I don't want this.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: I'm like, if you're not sure of this, why should I be sure of this?
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: And I'm thinking about one, this just reminded me of one in particular, where he then went into all of these bonuses, all of these fast action bonuses, where, like, if you give me your credit card here on the call, then I'll give you this bonus and I'll give you this thing.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: And they started extra explaining.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: And then there was this nervous laughter.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: And I was like, what is going on here?
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: And it was all because of a lack of conviction.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: And that is because, right?
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: Silence feels like evaluation.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: It feels like pressure.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: Your amygdala scams for am I being rejected right now?
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: So you try to fill that space, but remember, silence is neutral.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: And why this ends up capping your income is if your nervous system contracts at, you know, exchanging with other people, your pricing will wobble, your standards will, you know, soften, your offers will shrink, your delivery will thought to go into overcompensating, and you'll over-deliver to try to prove yourself, right?
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Or you'll add those bonuses or your discount, or you'll just feel resentful afterwards.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: So I want you to think about regulated sales and what it looks like.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: Use this as like your checklist.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: Fewer words.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: And this can be spoken, but also copy-wise.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: If it's like so much words and so much copy all the time, it's like that's not regulated sales, right?
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: It's like cleaner statements, clear, neutral tone, comfortable pauses.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: It's like a sales call or a video, whatever, direct eye contact, slow pacing, right?
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: Not filling the space.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: People feel that feel that so much more than perfectly curated words or a perfectly curated script.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: Let me tell you, you don't need to convince, you don't need to push.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: All you need to do is remain centered in your conviction.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: And conviction really is, and this will be like the conviction difference for you, your nervous system has already accepted the outcome.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: You're not selling to get validation, you're offering from wholeness.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: If they say yes, you're solid.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: If they say no, you're solid.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: The only reason your conviction wobbles and then your body posture changes and your voice changes and your pacing changes is because it's anticipating outcome.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: But when the outcome is neutral, no matter if it's yes or no, then you're neutral.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: Neutrality is magnetic.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: You remove the outcome, well, then it's perfect because it tells the room, I don't need you to regulate me.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: I'm solid.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: And then that will actually take, it'll take the people who already want to buy from you and make them buy from you faster.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: And the people who are kind of unsure on the fence, they'll be like, oh, she doesn't need me.
- 10:46unknown: Right?
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: She they'll feel you're leaned back and they'll make it'll make them want you more, right?
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: That's polarity, that's magnetism.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: Your words matter.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Your tone matters, your body language matters, but your nervous system matters the most because it influences all of these things.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: It dictates all of the micro expressions, all of the little micro behaviors, the way your body is sitting, all of these things that are unconsciously dictating your sales.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: If your tone shifts, you know, when money enters the room or when, you know, sales are on the line, that is your work.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: And if silence feels uncomfortable, that is where your ceiling is.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: Sales are not about persuasion or convincing or proving.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: It's actually about regulation because that's what dictates how you sell, how you deliver, and not only what you say, but how you say it.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: So thank you guys for watching this episode.
