- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the porch because it is pouring
- 0:33again. Days of rain.
- 0:34We have had lots and lots and lots of rain here.
- 0:37So it is dark and I am shooting from the porch this morning and
- 0:42you can hear Raven off in the distance right now It's still
- 0:46dark. They're not even remotely
- 0:48outside. And two things.
- 0:51I know we're talking about possibilities this week, so I
- 0:53thought now would be a time for me to help reframe something for
- 0:58myself as well as sharing some news with you.
- 1:00So we had an accident at the Coop the other day where the UPS
- 1:06driver left the gate open and he didn't probably think about it.
- 1:13He opened it to come in, but he didn't close it on the way out,
- 1:17even though there is a sign that says that he just didn't think
- 1:21about it. And it's obviously it's human
- 1:23error and it's just it happens. But the neighbor's dog came in
- 1:28and he killed four of my chickens and one of them was
- 1:33Dottie. And you know how special she
- 1:35was. So I this happened a week ago, a
- 1:39little over a week ago and I just had been unable to talk
- 1:41about it. And since we're talking about
- 1:44possibilities this week, I wanted to try to reframe this
- 1:49and show you how, no matter what's going on in your life, it
- 1:54is possible. Now, to say that I'm crushed is
- 1:57an understatement. And as I'm recording this tears
- 2:01or streaming down my face, you all know how much she meant to
- 2:05me. Is it sad?
- 2:08Completely. Is it something that just wipes
- 2:10me out? Yes, I just can't even.
- 2:13But at the same time, I have to remember that I can view this in
- 2:19a different way and that I can think of the these things when
- 2:23they happen in a different way. So I know for certain that she
- 2:27had the best chicken life that a chicken could possibly have.
- 2:30I know how much she was loved, and I know how much she gave to
- 2:35me, just hanging out with me all the time.
- 2:39So I can focus on all the good things and I can think about
- 2:42what's possible now moving forward, and I can think about
- 2:46how I can absolutely make sure I have the awareness to handle the
- 2:54gait differently, right? I can.
- 2:56I can certainly fix some of this stuff, but human error I can
- 3:00never fix, and I just have to have grace for people when they
- 3:02make mistakes. I also can recognize that in a
- 3:06world of possibilities that my other chickens clearly know
- 3:11she's gone because some of them have started hanging around with
- 3:14me the way she hung around with me, which I thought was so cool
- 3:19on a such a spiritual level because now I have chickens that
- 3:24would normally not come up to me, which I think because she
- 3:27was probably very dominant now coming up and being like my
- 3:31buddies. So there is possibility in the
- 3:35unknown of what's available to me and I'm going to take it and
- 3:40I'm going to enjoy everybody, not just her.
- 3:42I always have enjoyed everybody but enjoy them in a way that I
- 3:45haven't before and just like thinking about things and
- 3:49framing them differently gives you the idea of there are some
- 3:53things out there that you might be tentative in doing.
- 3:57You know, I I was so upset about this.
- 4:00I was like I'm not getting any more chickens.
- 4:02I'm can't I can't with these dogs.
- 4:04And you know, I went off the rails.
- 4:06Of course I went off the rails. But then I started thinking
- 4:09about the possibilities of ways I can handle this and other
- 4:12things, and I got myself into a better headspace.
- 4:16And it was using my imagination, my creativity, ways to think of
- 4:21things that I can fix it. And it's not just fixing that it
- 4:25happened. It's fixing the way I interact
- 4:28in other ways. So thinking about, you know,
- 4:32there are friends out there that are not toddy and I can make
- 4:36friends with other chickens, as silly as that sounds, but it it
- 4:39really is a big metaphor and that's how I wanted you to think
- 4:43of it. And in the world of
- 4:45possibilities of this week in between, you know, Christmas and
- 4:49New Year's, this week, that's so, I don't know.
- 4:54It's just so filled with electricity to me.
- 4:58My brain is on fire for all the fun things that are going to
- 5:01happen out here on the farm. And that just made me thinking
- 5:04about, OK, well, clearly I'm going to be ordering some eggs,
- 5:08getting some babies and inviting some new little souls to live
- 5:13out here on the farm, and that is filled with possibility
- 5:16because you never know who's going to show up.
- 5:19So just a kind of a way of thinking of it.
- 5:22I wanted to share it with all of you and we'll be back tomorrow
- 5:26with some more good stuff. So I hope you have a very
- 5:29blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 5:32Bye.
