- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:10Speaker 1: Kate Torber. And I'm Sophie Torber. And coming up on
- 0:12Speaker 1: today's show, Tammy Hembrough's house is passed in at auction.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Nikki Westcott takes aim at Matt Paul and Ames O'Connor's
- 0:21Speaker 1: mysterious pap photos. But first, Jules Neal has cemented her
- 0:25Speaker 1: icon status, sharing a photo of her decked out in
- 0:29Speaker 1: Fremantle Dockers gear wearing Moments before her ex-husband, Lockie Neal,
- 0:32Speaker 1: was set to run out for the Brisbane Lions in
- 0:35Speaker 1: the AFL Grand Final. Now, in the photo, which Jules
- 0:38Speaker 1: decided to share to her Instagram story, she was standing
- 0:41Speaker 1: beside her best friend and they were both wearing Frio scarves,
- 0:45Speaker 1: holding up mimosas. Now, no caption was required for this
- 0:48Speaker 1: post as the photo really spoke volumes, didn't it? I
- 0:51Speaker 1: just loved how petty it was. And I mean, petty
- 0:53Speaker 1: in the best sense ever. Taylor Swift petty. Like it's
- 0:58Speaker 1: a sort of petty that you be around your best friends,
- 1:00Speaker 1: like when you can be your worst self. And I
- 1:03Speaker 1: think that so many people loved it because they could
- 1:05Speaker 1: relate to it. It's something that we would all love
- 1:07Speaker 1: to do because it's just such a fuck you.
- 1:08Speaker 2: We've got to remember also, she's a Perth girl. So
- 1:11Speaker 2: she was just getting around her local team. I think
- 1:14Speaker 2: she also used to support the Dockers and Lockie Neal
- 1:16Speaker 2: used to play for them. So It's not like the
- 1:19Speaker 2: level of pettiness where she actually had to go and
- 1:21Speaker 2: buy the Frio scarf. Like she may have already had it.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I love what Jules did. But as someone who is
- 1:26Speaker 2: a little bit superstitious, I was worried for the result.
- 1:29Speaker 2: And we all know that the Brisbane Lions ended up winning.
- 1:31Speaker 2: So it's like, did she put the mockers on it
- 1:32Speaker 2: a bit? Because, you know, it kind of for people who...
- 1:36Speaker 2: you know, love to point out that she's kept the
- 1:38Speaker 2: last name and, you know, sort of stick up for Lockie,
- 1:40Speaker 2: they'd be like, oh, sucked in. Because we shared the
- 1:42Speaker 2: photo on our Instagram, went absolutely nuts.
- 1:45Speaker 1: And I had to spend most of my Saturday night
- 1:47Speaker 1: trying to remove foul comments from male AFL fans who
- 1:52Speaker 1: were just going for her. It was revolting. The Queen
- 1:54Speaker 1: herself even liked the post, which I thought was hilarious. Yes.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Oh my God. I was so excited by that.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It is crazy how polarizing people's algorithms are because, you know,
- 2:05Speaker 2: most of the comments I saw about it were positive.
- 2:07Speaker 2: And then I clicked on a Daily Mail article and
- 2:09Speaker 2: literally 99% of them were negative.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I think the reason why so many Brisbane Lions fans
- 2:13Speaker 1: were upset about this photo is because they feel like
- 2:16Speaker 1: Jules Neal has been trying to derail the Lions finals
- 2:20Speaker 1: campaign since day dot. Her tell-all interview about Lockie Neal
- 2:24Speaker 1: literally launched as the finals were starting. Then obviously Tess
- 2:28Speaker 1: Crosley appeared in the Daily Mail interview. There's been a
- 2:31Speaker 1: lot going on.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I think what further aggravated Lions fans was people's reaction
- 2:36Speaker 2: to the news that it seemed like Lockie Neal was
- 2:38Speaker 2: actually going to miss out on the grand final. So initially,
- 2:41Speaker 2: he was ruled out with a one-match suspension for striking
- 2:45Speaker 2: a Hawthorne player in the prelim final.
- 2:48Speaker 1: However, at the last minute, it was overturned. I was like,
- 2:51Speaker 1: surely not. It felt like it was all playing out
- 2:53Speaker 1: like a soap opera. Yeah, there were so many TikToks
- 2:55Speaker 1: of women literally rejoicing in the streets at the news
- 2:57Speaker 1: that Lockie had been suspended for the grand final. people
- 3:01Speaker 1: were hashtagging justice for Jules and saying, how did she
- 3:04Speaker 1: do this? Like what sort of witchcraft did she use
- 3:06Speaker 1: to make sure that her ex-husband was ruled out of
- 3:08Speaker 1: the grand final? As you said, in a shock twist
- 3:11Speaker 1: that became overturned. It was some weird technicality.
- 3:13Speaker 2: It was almost cruel the way it played out for
- 3:16Speaker 2: Jules because it would have been such a rollercoaster ride.
- 3:18Speaker 2: You would have been so happy and then last minute
- 3:20Speaker 2: be like, Fuck's sake. And I think that's probably what
- 3:23Speaker 2: provoked her to wear the Fremantle scarf. She was like,
- 3:25Speaker 2: this week has been bullshit. I'm just going to put
- 3:27Speaker 2: it out there.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Fortunately for Jules, there were a lot of women who
- 3:30Speaker 1: had her back at the MCG anytime Lockie Neal got
- 3:33Speaker 1: the ball. There was so much booing going on. This
- 3:36Speaker 1: also extended to people at home. I saw so many
- 3:38Speaker 1: TikToks of women giving the finger to the TV whenever
- 3:42Speaker 1: he was on there.
- 3:43Speaker 2: I've got to admit, I was only supporting Frio because
- 3:46Speaker 2: I can't stand Lockie Neal.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Normally I probably would have gone for them.
- 3:50Speaker 2: The fact that they were going for their third grand
- 3:52Speaker 2: final in a row, you know, I would have got
- 3:54Speaker 2: on that train, but I just couldn't bring myself to
- 3:56Speaker 2: do it.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I saw so many TikToks again of women just screaming
- 3:59Speaker 1: at the TV and being so annoyed at their boyfriends
- 4:02Speaker 1: being like, I can't believe that Lockie Neal won. So,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I mean, there was a lot of feeling over this
- 4:06Speaker 1: grand final.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Do you know what pissed me off more was when
- 4:09Speaker 2: I saw Lockie Neal's new girlfriend, Emma, rocking a jacket
- 4:13Speaker 2: with his last name on the back. I was like,
- 4:16Speaker 2: oh my God, can you have some respect for Jules?
- 4:18Speaker 2: Like this is actually embarrassing. Like why would you want
- 4:20Speaker 2: to be promoting the fact that you're with this guy?
- 4:22Speaker 1: The reason why I think it struck such a chord
- 4:24Speaker 1: with me is because that's their family name. He was
- 4:27Speaker 1: actually married to Jules for a number of years. They
- 4:30Speaker 1: have kids together. So it just seems weird for her
- 4:32Speaker 1: to be wearing their family name on her back when
- 4:35Speaker 1: they're very fresh. I mean, they've only been official for
- 4:38Speaker 1: a couple of weeks now. She actually followed up after
- 4:41Speaker 1: the grand final posting their first couple photo together and
- 4:44Speaker 1: it was in the club rooms after the game. He
- 4:46Speaker 1: was holding up three, obviously, for the three premierships and
- 4:49Speaker 1: had a beer in his hand. It wasn't a particularly
- 4:51Speaker 1: romantic photo. It almost looked a bit like a fan photo.
- 4:53Speaker 1: If I was her, I wouldn't be posting any couple
- 4:55Speaker 1: shots after the game. We saw how the others went
- 4:58Speaker 1: down last year.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Oh.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I think I might be fresh out of advice for
- 5:02Speaker 1: the day, to be honest. You know what, babe?
- 5:05Speaker 2: Nikki Westcott has taken aim at her husband's former friend
- 5:08Speaker 2: and business partner, Matt Paul. In a recent episode of
- 5:11Speaker 2: her Happy Hour podcast, the influencer was asked who she
- 5:14Speaker 2: would fuck, marry, kill out of Matt Paul, Jack Steele
- 5:18Speaker 2: and Lucy's former roommate. Let's take a listen to what
- 5:20Speaker 2: she said.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Paul is dying for me because that cunt's that dramatic
- 5:25Speaker 1: and a loser, to be honest. Oh, fuck. When I
- 5:30Speaker 1: saw that name, I was like, Nikki's going.
- 5:32Speaker 3: To go ham.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Do a few more fucking weird Instagram stories, you kook. Dead. God,
- 5:38Speaker 1: I was a bit taken aback by that.
- 5:40Speaker 2: We actually asked her a similar question on stage at
- 5:42Speaker 2: the controversial Adelaide live show. So we asked her the
- 5:46Speaker 2: same scenario but with Tammy's exes. And we all thought
- 5:50Speaker 2: she would choose Matt Paul to kill, but she was
- 5:53Speaker 2: much more reserved and respectful with her answer.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I mean, calling him the C word and also a
- 5:58Speaker 1: loser is pretty below the belt. And I'm surprised that
- 6:00Speaker 1: they do it after they have been getting this mean
- 6:03Speaker 1: girl sort of portrayal following the Tammy Hembrough incident. Yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 1: it was very surprising to me.
- 6:10Speaker 2: I mean, for those listeners wondering what Nikki's issue with
- 6:13Speaker 2: Matt Paul is, it's all to do with her husband,
- 6:16Speaker 2: Ollie Frost. So we've discussed in depth the fallout between
- 6:19Speaker 2: Ollie and Matt on the podcast before. We'll link to
- 6:22Speaker 2: those episodes in the show notes. But for new listeners,
- 6:25Speaker 2: essentially the bad blood has to do with this failed
- 6:28Speaker 2: business venture that the pair embarked on So back in 2020,
- 6:31Speaker 2: Matt invested in Ollie's Gold Coast restaurant, Maman, but he
- 6:35Speaker 2: was left out of pocket $ 30, 000 when it collapsed into
- 6:38Speaker 2: liquidation just three years later. In 2023, Matt actually called
- 6:42Speaker 2: Ollie out publicly, so he did an interview with the
- 6:45Speaker 2: Gold Coast Bulletin, as well as putting Ollie on blast
- 6:48Speaker 2: on his socials. Quite rightfully so, I might add.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I mean, I'd be pretty spewing if I was left
- 6:53Speaker 1: $ 30, 000 out of pocket, allegedly.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Yeah, for Nikki to go on her podcast and call
- 6:57Speaker 2: Matt Poole a loser and the C word for speaking
- 7:01Speaker 2: out about being financially impacted by her husband's business failures
- 7:04Speaker 2: pretty often. I mean, I don't even know why she
- 7:06Speaker 2: would address this. It only brings the issue back up
- 7:08Speaker 2: into the news cycle.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it's almost like she's trying to turn it back
- 7:11Speaker 1: on him when everyone is quite aware of what went down. Now,
- 7:15Speaker 1: Matt wasn't the only person that they took aim at
- 7:17Speaker 1: on last Thursday's episode. Lucy had a further dig at us.
- 7:21Speaker 1: So while answering an am I the asshole dilemma about
- 7:24Speaker 1: a family feud between a woman and her mother-in-law, She
- 7:27Speaker 1: seemingly poked fun at the photo that she defaced of us.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Let's take a listen. I just hope that if anything
- 7:35Speaker 1: ever goes on between you and I, I just hope
- 7:40Speaker 1: we can have a fucking conversation like normal people.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Otherwise, I will be putting a gif on your head
- 7:46Speaker 4: and putting it on my stories.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And you fucking better believe it, cuz. Do you know what?
- 7:55Speaker 1: Sometimes I think. Hope you're well. All good if not.
- 8:00Speaker 1: In family.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not sure if we even have to
- 8:03Speaker 2: say much off the back of that grab. I think
- 8:05Speaker 2: it speaks volumes. But if I'm pushed, one thing I
- 8:08Speaker 2: would like to add is I find it pretty ironic
- 8:11Speaker 2: that Lucy made a jive about how she would like
- 8:13Speaker 2: to have a conversation like a normal person, which I
- 8:15Speaker 2: completely agree with. Like in these situations, just pick up
- 8:18Speaker 2: the phone. But for the record, she only ever communicated
- 8:21Speaker 2: with us over text when she flagged that she had
- 8:23Speaker 2: this issue with the content we shared from.
- 8:25Speaker 1: The live show.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Plus, she never replied to our last text message and
- 8:28Speaker 2: then posted that meme. So it seems like she maybe
- 8:31Speaker 2: should take her own advice on board and just pick
- 8:33Speaker 2: up the phone next time.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I was confused about. It was like
- 8:35Speaker 1: she was trying to act as if we were just
- 8:37Speaker 1: too shy to talk to her over the phone when
- 8:39Speaker 1: in reality, she's the one that kept it over text
- 8:42Speaker 1: and never replied. I mean, at the very least, for
- 8:45Speaker 1: the Lucy and Nikki stans who were claiming that there
- 8:48Speaker 1: was no proof Lucy posted the picture of us with
- 8:50Speaker 1: the dog faces, despite it being from the official account
- 8:53Speaker 1: she shares with Nikki, at least she's cleared that up
- 8:55Speaker 1: for us. Also, I think it's showing that we're not
- 8:58Speaker 1: receiving an apology anytime soon. No, well, she's clearly not
- 9:01Speaker 1: apologetic for her behaviour, which is pretty disappointing, but.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Josh has liked photos of girls before or whatever.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Steph, Claire Smith and Laura Henshaw's new podcast with Shameless
- 9:13Speaker 1: Media debuted this week and the duo is already sparking debate.
- 9:18Speaker 1: In the first episode, the entrepreneurs discuss burner accounts and
- 9:22Speaker 1: rogue activity on the internet. And during this discussion, Steph
- 9:26Speaker 1: revealed that she is often contacted by concerned followers who
- 9:30Speaker 1: have noticed her husband, Josh, liking other models' photos. Let's
- 9:34Speaker 1: take a listen to what she said.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Josh has liked photos of girls before or whatever.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And so many people send it to me. Have sent
- 9:42Speaker 1: it to you and say, oh my God, I can't
- 9:44Speaker 1: believe your husband is coming. People have even sent it
- 9:47Speaker 1: to me. Yeah.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Oh my God, Laura. Should you tell Steph? Yeah.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Can you tell Steph?
- 9:50Speaker 4: Josh follows this page and they.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Post like naked photos.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Because obviously in their relationship, it would bother them. But
- 9:56Speaker 3: for me, he thinks I'm the hottest thing in the
- 9:58Speaker 3: entire world. And I'm like, he makes that very clear.
- 10:01Speaker 3: I think that's fair, right? You would, you would build
- 10:03Speaker 3: up those insecurities if you didn't feel that from your partner.
- 10:05Speaker 3: And then you saw your partner, you know, liking or
- 10:07Speaker 3: maybe having a burner account and following all these things.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Like I totally understand how someone would have a problem
- 10:12Speaker 3: with that.
- 10:12Speaker 4: I don't think Dalton would think to make a burner account.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Like I just don't think that would be something that
- 10:17Speaker 4: he would think about if I saw him comment on
- 10:20Speaker 4: someone's photo unless the comment was naff and it was
- 10:23Speaker 4: embarrassing to me as his.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Wife yeah like at least comment in a cool.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Way you know what I mean as long as it's
- 10:30Speaker 4: not a naff comment like that is if it was
- 10:32Speaker 4: I'd be like Dawson you are embarrassing the family atlas
- 10:35Speaker 4: is going to grow up and be so.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Embarrassed shameless knew what they were doing with this this
- 10:41Speaker 2: clip has gone absolutely viral and ruffled some feathers Now,
- 10:45Speaker 2: the majority of followers disagree with Steph and Laura's stance.
- 10:49Speaker 2: One person wrote, Ladies, get some standards. Your husband shouldn't
- 10:52Speaker 2: be liking half-naked images of women on Instagram as a
- 10:55Speaker 2: form of respect. It has nothing to do with if
- 10:58Speaker 2: a woman is insecure or not. He shouldn't want or
- 11:00Speaker 2: need to be liking images of that nature online.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Now, that comment has over a thousand likes. That's the thing,
- 11:06Speaker 1: because some of these images that Josh has been caught
- 11:08Speaker 1: out for liking are are of half-naked women. Now, I
- 11:11Speaker 1: haven't seen the photos that he's been liking. I'm not
- 11:13Speaker 1: sure if they're like artistic. He is a photographer, so
- 11:16Speaker 1: maybe they're sort of model-esque poses. I'm trying to give
- 11:19Speaker 1: him a bit of the benefit of the doubt here.
- 11:21Speaker 1: I'm not quite sure. I don't think I'd be so
- 11:23Speaker 1: cool about it. I saw another comment that said, I'm
- 11:26Speaker 1: so relieved by how many sane women are commenting on
- 11:29Speaker 1: this disagreeing. Let's claw back some respect for the sanctity
- 11:32Speaker 1: of marriage, please. Another person said, sorry, girls, I think
- 11:36Speaker 1: this is a bit backwards. Micro cheating is very real.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I think no matter how secure you are in a relationship,
- 11:41Speaker 2: it's a huge red flag if a man is doing
- 11:43Speaker 2: this with half naked women.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Another listener said, I don't think the girls even agree
- 11:47Speaker 1: with it deep down. Steph is calling other girls insecure
- 11:51Speaker 1: to try and make it okay in her head. Everything
- 11:53Speaker 1: in this combo is so wrong to me. The putting
- 11:56Speaker 1: down of other women really shocked me and goes against
- 11:58Speaker 1: everything they usually say. So disappointing. And that's really what
- 12:02Speaker 1: stood out to me as well, because I think that
- 12:04Speaker 1: they were almost so excited to be recording their first episode,
- 12:07Speaker 1: particularly with Shameless. They seem to be a bit of
- 12:09Speaker 1: a cool girl clique going on there. And I think
- 12:11Speaker 1: they were trying to be the cool girls and be
- 12:13Speaker 1: unbothered by, you know, their partners liking these sorts of posts.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I mean, Laura was saying, oh, I don't mind if
- 12:18Speaker 1: my husband is comments on other girls' posts, as long
- 12:21Speaker 1: as the comment isn't naff and embarrassing. Personally, I wouldn't
- 12:24Speaker 1: be so fine about that.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I think one of the other optics that was a
- 12:27Speaker 2: little bit off is the fact that both Laura and
- 12:29Speaker 2: Steph are models. So it kind of could have been
- 12:32Speaker 2: taken as a bit of an air of arrogance that, oh,
- 12:34Speaker 2: it doesn't really matter because I'm much more attractive than
- 12:37Speaker 2: any of these people on the internet. I mean, Steph
- 12:39Speaker 2: even made a comment saying, oh, my husband thinks I'm
- 12:41Speaker 2: the hottest thing ever.
- 12:42Speaker 1: In Steph's defense, I think that she was trying to
- 12:45Speaker 1: show how secure she is in her relationship. I mean,
- 12:47Speaker 1: she and Josh are childhood sweethearts. There's nothing wrong with
- 12:50Speaker 1: being confident about the way you look. And I mean,
- 12:53Speaker 1: I guess it's up to them whether that crosses their
- 12:56Speaker 1: boundary or not, but I can see how it rubbed
- 12:58Speaker 1: other women up the wrong way. Yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 2: But my issue, and I think a lot of others
- 13:01Speaker 2: was the fact that it's like, oh, if you're not
- 13:03Speaker 2: cool with this behavior, then that's your issue. You're just insecure.
- 13:07Speaker 2: It's like, actually, no, as a lot of people said,
- 13:10Speaker 2: it's a respect thing. I mean, yes, of course, when
- 13:13Speaker 2: you're married, you can still find other people attractive. But
- 13:15Speaker 2: I feel like liking these sort of photos on Instagram
- 13:18Speaker 2: is endorsing it. And as a couple of other people commented, well,
- 13:23Speaker 2: often people start off by liking photos and then sliding
- 13:26Speaker 2: into DMs.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And it's not.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Particularly a great look, not suggesting that that's what Steph
- 13:31Speaker 2: Kleismith's husband is doing, but Again, the optics don't particularly
- 13:35Speaker 2: look good.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I think as well there's nothing more unattractive than a
- 13:38Speaker 1: man in his 30s being too active on social media
- 13:41Speaker 1: and that might sound unfair. But it's like, yeah, have
- 13:43Speaker 1: a look if you must. Have a look around. See
- 13:46Speaker 1: what's going on. But don't actually engage with people's posts. Also,
- 13:49Speaker 1: the fact that he's got a profile. I mean, it's
- 13:52Speaker 1: pretty disrespectful.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Imagine these models that don't know the context, like that
- 13:55Speaker 2: Steph's apparently cool with it, getting a like from Steph
- 13:58Speaker 2: Glessmith's husband and being like, oh, this feels a bit wrong. Again,
- 14:02Speaker 2: I found Laura's comments around this so funny because I
- 14:04Speaker 2: think that she again was trying to be like Steph
- 14:06Speaker 2: and act like, you know, too cool for school.
- 14:08Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if your husband's commenting under girls' photos.
- 14:11Speaker 1: But then she admitted that Dalton leaves flame emojis under
- 14:14Speaker 1: Steph Glessmith's photos. And I was like, that's just weird. Like, Again,
- 14:18Speaker 1: maybe he's doing it ironically or as a bit of
- 14:20Speaker 1: a joke. They seem to have a kind of wicked
- 14:22Speaker 1: sense of humor. Well, but then again, like not everyone's
- 14:25Speaker 1: in on the joke.
- 14:25Speaker 2: So if that is a personal joke, send them via
- 14:28Speaker 2: DM in a group chat. I mean, can you imagine
- 14:32Speaker 2: like my husband sending you flame emojis? I mean, again,
- 14:35Speaker 2: that's just weird.
- 14:36Speaker 1: It is weird. Particularly because we're identical. I did enjoy
- 14:39Speaker 1: the format of this show though. I think that as
- 14:42Speaker 1: we said on last week's episode, Shameless have intended this
- 14:45Speaker 1: show to be pacier. They've got a lot of community engagement.
- 14:48Speaker 1: People are sending in their own stories. It's exactly how
- 14:51Speaker 1: I thought it would be. And I did enjoy listening
- 14:53Speaker 1: to it. It was quite interesting to hear their take
- 14:55Speaker 1: on burner accounts because Laura admitted that back in 2010,
- 15:00Speaker 1: she had a burner account and she once left a
- 15:03Speaker 1: comment under something that closed. She didn't actually really specify
- 15:06Speaker 1: what she said, but apparently she She's the sort of
- 15:09Speaker 1: person that overthinks everything. So she started thinking, oh, my God,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I'm going to get in a lot of trouble for
- 15:13Speaker 1: having this burner account. I might get arrested. And apparently
- 15:16Speaker 1: for three years following this one comment, every time she
- 15:19Speaker 1: walked past the police station, she was concerned that she'd
- 15:21Speaker 1: get in trouble over it.
- 15:23Speaker 2: God, 2010, what was she, like, 18 or something?
- 15:26Speaker 1: Well, Steph did say, hold on, in 2010, I don't
- 15:29Speaker 1: think we even had Instagram. So maybe Laura was trying
- 15:32Speaker 1: to put a bit of mayo on it and be like, oh,
- 15:33Speaker 1: it was ages ago when it was really like five
- 15:35Speaker 1: years ago or something. Yeah, that's true.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I mean, calling ourselves out, we've had burner accounts, I
- 15:40Speaker 2: would say for 15 plus years. It started off with
- 15:43Speaker 2: a burner Facebook account and being journalists, we were told
- 15:47Speaker 2: every good journo has a burner account. I want to
- 15:49Speaker 2: point out though, I think burner account has a totally
- 15:51Speaker 2: different connotation to a finster. I would more say we
- 15:53Speaker 2: had a finster because in our finster account, it's not
- 15:56Speaker 2: like we ever comment under people's photos because people use
- 15:59Speaker 2: burner accounts really to troll people and leave nasty comments.
- 16:01Speaker 2: This was more to look at people's things that we
- 16:04Speaker 2: didn't necessarily want people to know that we were looking at.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I think that's a good distinction to make. Definitely not
- 16:09Speaker 2: trolling anyone on our Finsters or burner account, whatever you
- 16:12Speaker 2: want to call it. As you said, it's more just
- 16:14Speaker 2: to be able to view people's stories without them knowing
- 16:16Speaker 2: you're looking at it.
- 16:17Speaker 1: In terms of the new format, I was surprised how
- 16:19Speaker 1: involved the producer got.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't like that, particularly because she seemed to
- 16:23Speaker 2: lead the chat very early on.
- 16:24Speaker 1: I was kind of like, I'm not familiar with this person.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I don't know who they are. It kind of made
- 16:28Speaker 1: it feel like a group project where she had come
- 16:31Speaker 1: up with all the topics and they were just rocking
- 16:33Speaker 1: up for the first time hearing about it then, which
- 16:34Speaker 1: I don't actually think was the case. I did think
- 16:36Speaker 1: she was good though at wrapping Laura up a little bit.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Like there were a few times and Laura started to
- 16:41Speaker 1: go off a bit of a tangent and she sort
- 16:42Speaker 1: of cracked the whip and was like, no, no, not today.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I don't know about you, but I'm just not a
- 16:46Speaker 1: massive fan of when there is a producer on a
- 16:48Speaker 1: podcast and they're always getting involved. And I'm like, well,
- 16:52Speaker 1: you either should co-host the show or just pipe down
- 16:55Speaker 1: a little bit. Like you can be a producer, but
- 16:57Speaker 1: not be interjecting all the time. Yeah, I think you
- 16:59Speaker 1: kind of lose the intimacy of the conversation particularly because
- 17:03Speaker 1: this is now being sold as two best friends having
- 17:05Speaker 1: a chat and that was the reason for the rebrand.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I found the start a little bit clunky. As you said,
- 17:09Speaker 1: it got good.
- 17:11Speaker 2: But the way they addressed the name change and Steph
- 17:15Speaker 2: came out and said, oh, I got a comment saying,
- 17:16Speaker 2: are you guys shutting down Kik?
- 17:19Speaker 1: And they said, oh, that's definitely not the case.
- 17:22Speaker 2: But it was sort of awkward how the producer said,
- 17:25Speaker 2: kind of was like pumping their tires and saying, oh, well,
- 17:27Speaker 2: when we looked at you guys, we're like, oh, you're
- 17:29Speaker 2: known for your friendship. And that's why we came up
- 17:31Speaker 2: with the name. It was kind of like a production
- 17:33Speaker 2: meeting that didn't need to air.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a bit of a pet peeve of mine.
- 17:37Speaker 1: It's like, look, this discussion should be happening behind the scenes.
- 17:40Speaker 1: We don't have to hear it first thing up on
- 17:42Speaker 1: the episode. Yeah, I was kind of thinking just get
- 17:44Speaker 1: into it.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Like don't over explain it because it was kind of like, oh,
- 17:48Speaker 2: for anyone that's new, it's like, well, it's still in
- 17:50Speaker 2: the same feed.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Like the majority of people.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Are listening are people that have listened the whole time.
- 17:54Speaker 1: One thing that I hadn't even thought of with the
- 17:56Speaker 1: name that they brought up was the fact that Steph's
- 17:58Speaker 1: name was first. It was always going to be first.
- 18:00Speaker 1: She has a bigger profile. Yeah, but Steph was like, oh,
- 18:02Speaker 1: I felt a little bit awkward at first, but I
- 18:04Speaker 1: didn't bring it up with you, Laura. And Laura's like, oh,
- 18:06Speaker 1: I was worried that you would be thinking that I
- 18:08Speaker 1: was thinking too much into it.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Laura always seems to pump Steph's tires, though. There have
- 18:12Speaker 2: been countless times where I've listened and she's referred to
- 18:15Speaker 2: Steph as a celebrity and spoken about how many followers
- 18:18Speaker 2: she has and.
- 18:18Speaker 1: That she's so well known. So surely.
- 18:21Speaker 2: that was just a given that Steph's name was going
- 18:23Speaker 2: to come first. I mean, every time I hear them
- 18:26Speaker 2: referred to, I always hear it as.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Steph and Laura. Talking about parts of the episode that
- 18:30Speaker 1: felt like a bit of a planning meeting, I didn't
- 18:33Speaker 1: really like how the girls decided to rate their performance
- 18:36Speaker 1: at the end of the episode. So Laura jumped in saying,
- 18:38Speaker 1: so what would you rate yourself, Steph? And she said
- 18:40Speaker 1: maybe a seven and a half out of 10, because
- 18:42Speaker 1: I was feeling really nervous because I'm excited about today
- 18:44Speaker 1: and I've just been overthinking it. Whereas Laura said, oh,
- 18:47Speaker 1: I was really hoping that we'd all rate ourselves an
- 18:48Speaker 1: 11 and all of you listening at home, you're an 11.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I was just like, oh, please, we don't need this
- 18:53Speaker 1: toxic positivity. That's what we wanted to leave with the
- 18:55Speaker 1: kick pod. I think that should have been cut out.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Taking a rating down for the toxic positivity. Not to
- 19:00Speaker 1: be too critical because in saying all of that, I
- 19:04Speaker 1: did enjoy the paciness of it. I think that it's promising.
- 19:08Speaker 2: My only thought listening was, is it kind of doubling
- 19:10Speaker 2: up on what Shameless talk about?
- 19:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sort of a bit overhearing celebrities or influencers
- 19:16Speaker 1: cover pop culture because And I also find it a
- 19:18Speaker 1: bit hypocritical when they then get in arms about other
- 19:20Speaker 1: people talking about them. I've noticed it's happening more and more.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like we've had it directed towards us,
- 19:27Speaker 2: you know, the last seven years of our podcast, how
- 19:29Speaker 2: dare you talk about me, even though I've got a
- 19:31Speaker 2: massive profile in Australia and everyone follows me. But it's
- 19:34Speaker 2: like these A-list celebrities are up for discussion.
- 19:37Speaker 1: It's like, what's the difference? Well, that's the basis of Shameless,
- 19:39Speaker 1: isn't it? They move from talking about local influences to
- 19:41Speaker 1: A-list celebrities, but then they ended up getting blocked by
- 19:44Speaker 1: a massive A-lister. That person hasn't been revealed yet. But
- 19:47Speaker 1: that's the thing with TikTok.
- 19:49Speaker 2: So they used to be safe from talking about the
- 19:51Speaker 2: big A-listers because they were never going to see it.
- 19:53Speaker 2: But with TikTok making everything so global and when things
- 19:57Speaker 2: go viral, they actually do end up seeing it.
- 20:00Speaker 1: So why do I feel like this segment has been
- 20:03Speaker 1: a Gogglebox style review of a podcast? Like just sharing
- 20:07Speaker 1: all of our thoughts. I think that should be a new...
- 20:10Speaker 1: thing for us on TikTok, doing some vloggle box stuff. Vloggle,
- 20:14Speaker 1: but this was a podcast. Yeah, I know, but like,
- 20:16Speaker 1: I reckon we could do vloggle and podcast box. Tammy
- 20:23Speaker 1: Hambro's Gold Coast Mansion remains on the market after it
- 20:26Speaker 1: failed to sell at auction over the weekend. Now, Tammy
- 20:30Speaker 1: shocked her followers by listing her waterfront home in July.
- 20:33Speaker 1: sparking rumours that she was in money trouble after also
- 20:36Speaker 1: recently shutting down her activewear brand.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Now, Tammy actually cleared those rumours up on stage at
- 20:42Speaker 2: the Lucy and Nikki live show in Adelaide, confirming she
- 20:44Speaker 2: is not poor and saying that she wants to buy
- 20:47Speaker 2: a larger property with chickens so her kids have more
- 20:50Speaker 2: space to play.
- 20:51Speaker 1: It's quite clear when Tammy listed the house that she
- 20:53Speaker 1: was concerned that the press or fans may come and
- 20:56Speaker 1: have a sticky beak at her home and There might
- 20:59Speaker 1: be stories that come out about it because initially inspections
- 21:02Speaker 1: were appointment only and prospective buyers reportedly had to be
- 21:06Speaker 1: vetted through a very strict process after registering their interest.
- 21:10Speaker 1: That didn't turn out to be very successful though because
- 21:13Speaker 1: it sounded like no one actually looked at the house.
- 21:15Speaker 1: They ended up having to lift that rule. Yeah, so
- 21:17Speaker 1: they ended up having to scrap it. Her agents instead
- 21:20Speaker 1: put up a no photography or videography sign on the
- 21:23Speaker 1: front of the door before the open inspections started. And
- 21:26Speaker 1: apparently they monitored the crowd quite closely.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Imagine if you legitimately wanted to buy it and you
- 21:32Speaker 2: just wanted to snap a few photos and videos for
- 21:35Speaker 2: that purpose and couldn't.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I think it probably rubbed a lot of people up
- 21:38Speaker 1: the wrong way. I mean, they had to do it though,
- 21:40Speaker 1: because you can imagine people creating TikToks being like inside
- 21:43Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough's house. I mean, the house has obviously been
- 21:46Speaker 1: a backdrop. of her life over the past six years.
- 21:49Speaker 1: She bought the house in 2020 for $ 2. 88 million.
- 21:53Speaker 2: That's interesting because it's now being listed online for $ 4.
- 21:56Speaker 1: 35 million. I mean, I know that the property market
- 21:59Speaker 1: has gone up.
- 22:00Speaker 2: A lot, but potentially that price may be a little
- 22:03Speaker 2: bit high considering it was passed in.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Well, Tammy actually wasn't at the auction on the weekend
- 22:07Speaker 1: because she's currently holidaying with her boyfriend, Grayson Timoana in Singapore.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Fun fact, Tammy actually used to live in Singapore with
- 22:14Speaker 1: her family growing up.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I noticed that she liked the 100 plus drinks because
- 22:17Speaker 2: she did a bit of a photo dump. Most of
- 22:19Speaker 2: the photos were of her sitting on this staircase. It's
- 22:22Speaker 2: so funny when you go through and you're like, I've
- 22:23Speaker 2: seen that one. I've seen that one. Like I'm a
- 22:25Speaker 2: bit sick of seeing the photo shoot types of pictures.
- 22:28Speaker 2: And then there were only a couple of interesting holiday
- 22:31Speaker 2: snaps within them. And one was this drink I remember
- 22:33Speaker 2: trying in Singapore. And I am just a fiend for Singapore, Malaysia.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I love those countries. I've been there lots of times.
- 22:40Speaker 1: So it made me feel very nostalgic. I saw her
- 22:42Speaker 1: posting about the sites because there was that reel where
- 22:44Speaker 1: she was making out with Grace and Timoana in front
- 22:46Speaker 1: of all the pretty lights at Merino Bay. Oh, no,
- 22:48Speaker 1: this was just a particular photo dump where she obviously
- 22:51Speaker 1: liked this shot of her but used it like six
- 22:54Speaker 1: different times within the carousel. Did you not notice her
- 22:56Speaker 1: feet in it? That's what everyone's been talking about. She
- 22:58Speaker 1: had these really weird shoes on and I can't even
- 23:02Speaker 1: explain them. They literally look like gloves but shoes. So
- 23:05Speaker 1: there was this weird stuff around her toes and everyone,
- 23:07Speaker 1: like Ruby Tuesday Matthews commented, were you rock climbing or something?
- 23:11Speaker 1: And everyone thought, oh, is she trolling us? Because she
- 23:13Speaker 1: knows she's going to get a lot of engagement over
- 23:15Speaker 1: these shoes.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Is it that thing that Madison Woolley was caught out
- 23:18Speaker 2: doing a while ago where all of her video thumbnails
- 23:21Speaker 2: are of her feet just to capture like certain people's attention?
- 23:24Speaker 1: I didn't even think of that. I just more thought
- 23:26Speaker 1: because the shoes were so weird that everyone be like,
- 23:29Speaker 1: oh my God, what are you wearing?
- 23:30Speaker 2: I mean, we've spoken a lot about her rage baiting
- 23:32Speaker 2: and trying to get engagement. I suppose she is the
- 23:35Speaker 2: queen of it. I'm just waiting for a proposal because
- 23:38Speaker 2: I feel like if there was ever a spot to
- 23:40Speaker 2: do it in, it would be Singapore because, as you mentioned,
- 23:43Speaker 2: she used to live in Singapore.
- 23:44Speaker 1: It holds a special place in her heart.
- 23:46Speaker 2: In that video of her at Marina Bay with Grayson,
- 23:49Speaker 2: it's almost like he knelt down just at the end
- 23:52Speaker 2: and people were like, I saw what was going on.
- 23:54Speaker 2: I'm putting it out there. I think we could have
- 23:56Speaker 2: an engagement announcement very soon. I mean, I quite enjoy
- 23:59Speaker 2: that just for the entertainment side of things. Now, getting
- 24:01Speaker 2: back to the auction, realestate.com are reporting that there was
- 24:04Speaker 2: a potential buyer who was very interested. They placed an
- 24:07Speaker 2: offer of $ 3. 8 million. The auction paused for negotiations after
- 24:12Speaker 2: that bid. It was then raised to a further $ 3. 9
- 24:16Speaker 2: million before the auctioneer decided to pass in the property.
- 24:19Speaker 2: As you touched on, Kate, the property is now listed
- 24:21Speaker 2: online for $ 4. 35 million dollars. So, you know, she wants
- 24:26Speaker 2: at least $ 450, 000 more than what people are willing to pay.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Can someone just buy it so we can see what
- 24:32Speaker 2: the next chapter holds for Tammy? Like, I want to
- 24:33Speaker 2: see if she actually ends up buying some property with
- 24:36Speaker 2: chickens or, you know, what is actually going to happen
- 24:39Speaker 2: because you can come out and say, no, no, I'm
- 24:41Speaker 2: not having money troubles, but essentially your actions speak louder
- 24:45Speaker 2: than words. TikToker Ames O'Connor has been papped on the
- 24:49Speaker 2: Gold Coast looking like she's been transported back to the 90s.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Now I know 90s fashion has been back for a while,
- 24:56Speaker 2: but I'm talking crimped hair, butterfly clips, even a Tamagotchi
- 25:00Speaker 2: strap to her pants. This was a very Britney Spears-esque look.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Do you reckon she's just trying out her outfit for
- 25:06Speaker 1: the Hilary Duff tour? Because apparently that's what all millennials
- 25:08Speaker 1: are wearing, very 90s looks. Well, she looked absolutely incredible.
- 25:12Speaker 2: Like I had no issues with the outfit, but The
- 25:14Speaker 2: one thing that stood out to me was the Tamagotchi.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Like I was like, what's that about? Surely that's not
- 25:20Speaker 2: an accessory you're actually rocking.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Well, she has a couple of kids. Maybe she picked
- 25:23Speaker 1: up one of their toys. Who knows?
- 25:26Speaker 2: Do you remember back in, I think it was like
- 25:28Speaker 2: year three, we all had our Tamagotchis and it got
- 25:31Speaker 2: to a point that they had to be banned from
- 25:32Speaker 2: the classroom because the teacher was like, no, you may
- 25:35Speaker 2: not clean up its poo or feed it. And they
- 25:38Speaker 2: had parents back at home having to feed them and
- 25:40Speaker 2: keep them alive.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Yeah, because so many kids were getting upset that they'd
- 25:43Speaker 1: come home and their Tamagotchi had died because they couldn't,
- 25:45Speaker 1: you know, tend to it. Getting back to this story though,
- 25:48Speaker 1: it's quite interesting because a burner account called Spotted GC
- 25:52Speaker 1: posted these pap photos of And the account claims that
- 25:55Speaker 1: Ames was having a heated conversation with an unknown woman.
- 25:59Speaker 1: And I mean, she doesn't look very happy in the photos.
- 26:02Speaker 2: What's got me a little bit suspicious is the fact
- 26:04Speaker 2: that a burner account is posting these pat photos. Like
- 26:07Speaker 2: to me, this feels like something big is coming from Ames.
- 26:11Speaker 2: It's got a bit of an Indy Clinton bouff hair
- 26:14Speaker 2: type of vibe.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Maybe a bit of a marketing campaign going on. I
- 26:17Speaker 1: feel like so many brands have been inspired by Rachel Wilde,
- 26:19Speaker 1: which Personally, as someone who works in PR and marketing,
- 26:22Speaker 1: it's great to see that people are actually thinking outside
- 26:24Speaker 1: the box. Well, to me, it's obvious that the photos
- 26:26Speaker 1: weren't taken recently because Ames is currently recovering from.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Pelvic floor surgery. She's been documenting the process and hats
- 26:34Speaker 2: off to her. It's so brave of her opening up
- 26:36Speaker 2: about this surgery. And I think it's helped so many
- 26:38Speaker 2: women out there.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Sam Guggenheimer is back in the news for making an
- 26:42Speaker 1: unsavory joke about a serious medical condition. While documenting the
- 26:47Speaker 1: aftermath of a facial treatment, she showed her followers her
- 26:50Speaker 1: flushed face and said this.
- 27:02Speaker 2: As you can imagine, commenters were quick to pull Sam
- 27:04Speaker 2: up on the inappropriate comment and just like that, the
- 27:07Speaker 2: video was swiftly deleted. Now, obviously I found Sam's comments in.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Very poor taste, but the more I thought about it,
- 27:14Speaker 1: the more I started to wonder.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Is this a reflection of a generational disconnect around the
- 27:21Speaker 2: word AIDS? I mean, we were born in 1999, so
- 27:24Speaker 2: we were young kids at the peak of the AIDS crisis.
- 27:27Speaker 2: And at the time, I think it's fair to say
- 27:28Speaker 2: that there was widespread public fear about it and also
- 27:31Speaker 2: a stigma about the condition. And despite only being young
- 27:34Speaker 2: at the time, I just would never.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Joke about it.
- 27:37Speaker 2: I still have a visceral reaction to the word and
- 27:39Speaker 2: I really don't even like using it.
- 27:41Speaker 1: I mean, for our generation, it wasn't just a word
- 27:43Speaker 1: for a medical condition. It was associated with death and
- 27:46Speaker 1: fear and also discrimination. Princess Diana famously tried to break
- 27:50Speaker 1: down a lot of the stigma around AIDS. She sat
- 27:53Speaker 1: down with an AIDS patient and shook their hand during
- 27:57Speaker 1: a press call and that was to demonstrate that it
- 27:59Speaker 1: is safe to do so because people were thinking that
- 28:01Speaker 1: they could catch AIDS simply by touching someone.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I mean, this isn't about making an excuse for Sammy Guggenheimer,
- 28:07Speaker 2: but it is interesting when you consider she is from
- 28:10Speaker 2: a generation that grew up when HIV was much more treatable.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Yeah, but I don't really think that I see anyone
- 28:15Speaker 1: joking about it now. I just think that this is
- 28:18Speaker 1: so off. No, but that's not what I'm saying at all.
- 28:20Speaker 2: I'm just saying I think it's actually lost a lot
- 28:22Speaker 2: of context because It's no longer this untreatable death sentence
- 28:27Speaker 2: that it used to be.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Well, I think that is all we have time for today.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Thank you so much for joining us for this episode.
