- 2:52Speaker 1: i'm sure there were. Meetings i'm sure there were negotiations with,
- 2:58Speaker 1: television h you. Know And i'm sure that it's not
- 3:03Speaker 1: about the. Money it's never about the money in, sports
- 3:07Speaker 1: AND i, doubt very seriously it's about the. Money coming
- 3:13Speaker 1: up at the bottom of the, hour a local animals
- 3:17Speaker 1: attack story which happened in our very own community within
- 3:21Speaker 1: the last twenty four, hours so you'll need to stay
- 3:25Speaker 1: tuned for. That our, local local updated animals attack, story
- 3:32Speaker 1: plus others including this. ONE a Southern california foothills community
- 3:38Speaker 1: is on edge after a beloved large pet dog, vanished
- 3:44Speaker 1: leaving behind a trail of, blood fueling fears a mountain
- 3:48Speaker 1: lion may have struck just days after two other pets
- 3:52Speaker 1: were torn to shreds. Nearby the attack unfolded over the
- 3:57Speaker 1: weekend In Oak, glynn WERE a resident TOLD ktla television
- 4:02Speaker 1: she believes her, mastiff which are traditionally bred to hunt
- 4:07Speaker 1: down large, predators was attacked and carried. Off she said
- 4:14Speaker 1: the dog never returned, home highly. Unusual only a blood
- 4:17Speaker 1: trail was. Found the report comes As neighbors In San
- 4:20Speaker 1: Bernardino county say sightings of wildlife for nothing, new but
- 4:25Speaker 1: recent incidents have heightened their. Concern we see a lot of,
- 4:30Speaker 1: bears a lot of, coyote a lot of, deer says
- 4:33Speaker 1: seventeen year Old Gianna. Sidillo she, added you just have
- 4:38Speaker 1: to keep an eye on your. Animals you never know
- 4:41Speaker 1: what's going to. Happen officials with The California department Of
- 4:45Speaker 1: fish And wildlife say they have not received any confirm
- 4:49Speaker 1: reports tied to the latest. Incident the disappearance has rattled the,
- 4:54Speaker 1: residents many of whom say predators frequently show up on
- 4:58Speaker 1: home surveillance. Footage the fears come one week after a
- 5:02Speaker 1: mountain lion was spotted in nearby U, kaipa where a
- 5:06Speaker 1: homeowner said the animal killed his two large, dogs a
- 5:11Speaker 1: husky and a, shepherd in a violent backyard. Attack wildlife
- 5:17Speaker 1: officials say each suspected attack is evaluated on a case
- 5:21Speaker 1: by case, basis but acknowledge the mountain lions will sometimes
- 5:26Speaker 1: prey on. Pets if there were multiple incidents where it
- 5:30Speaker 1: seems like it's a disruptive pattern in the, area then
- 5:34Speaker 1: relocation would be a potential. Outcome see these people have
- 5:40Speaker 1: the unfortunate, LUCK i guess of living In, california where
- 5:49Speaker 1: animals and wild destructive animals are much more valuable than.
- 5:57Speaker 1: People you don't count and your dog and pets sure don't. Count.
- 6:06Speaker 1: You people need to move and give the neighborhood up
- 6:11Speaker 1: to the mountain lions because they are more valuable than you.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Are And god help you if you try to defend,
- 6:19Speaker 1: yourself because you probably don't have a. Gun because the
- 6:25Speaker 1: people In CALIFORNIA i think guns are evil and shooting
- 6:29Speaker 1: animals are really, Evil residents are urged to take precautions
- 6:37Speaker 1: securing their, pets especially at. Night sidillo, SAYS i do
- 6:42Speaker 1: have a little TASER i carry around WHEN i go
- 6:45Speaker 1: out to take care of my, animals and we always
- 6:50Speaker 1: lock them up at. Night, sweetheart your taser is only
- 6:54Speaker 1: going to really upset that mountain. LION i suggest that
- 7:00Speaker 1: you do not use a taser on a mountain. LION
- 7:07Speaker 1: i suggest you carry a big gun with. You but
- 7:11Speaker 1: good luck trying to buy one in the state Of.
- 7:13Speaker 1: California good luck trying to own one in the state Of.
- 7:19Speaker 1: California And i've told you people here consistently and repeatedly
- 7:27Speaker 1: on this. Show if you don't think that can happen,
- 7:30Speaker 1: here you are not paying. Attention if you don't think
- 7:35Speaker 1: there are people within the sound of my voice who
- 7:38Speaker 1: believe that What california, believes that guns are evil and
- 7:43Speaker 1: that animals are more valuable than, people then you are
- 7:47Speaker 1: not paying attention in your surroundings and in your, community
- 7:54Speaker 1: because without eternal, vigilance it can happen. Here, okay know
- 8:05Speaker 1: that believe that and act. Accordingly when you vote for your,
- 8:13Speaker 1: local your, state and your national, representatives you better understand
- 8:21Speaker 1: that when you go to the. Poles we're on The
- 8:29Speaker 1: North Platte river here on The Clark Eisenhower Outdoor. Edition
- 8:33Speaker 1: i'm with Guid Devin. Burton he is out of The
- 8:35Speaker 1: Crazy Rainbow lodge and The Ugly bug Fly. Shop this
- 8:41Speaker 1: is a pretty good office you have out. Here, yes most,
- 8:45Speaker 1: definitely it's. Beautiful it's an awesome fishery to have twenty
- 8:48Speaker 1: minutes from your. House you, know are there any small
- 8:50Speaker 1: fish in this? River we definitely got every end of the,
- 8:53Speaker 1: spectrum but we build them pretty healthy out. Here, yeah it's.
- 8:56Speaker 1: CRAZY i understand big, river big, fish but this place
- 9:02Speaker 1: is it's. Busy, yes most definitely do get a fair
- 9:06Speaker 1: bit of, floaters but not quite as busy other times
- 9:10Speaker 1: of the, year like a little bit dirty down in through.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Town right now we're usually half are down and through
- 9:14Speaker 1: town half are up. Here we get a little bit
- 9:16Speaker 1: more spread. Out you, said just, well it wasn't that
- 9:21Speaker 1: long ago it was flowing what thirty five hundred? Cfs
- 9:25Speaker 1: did you tell me thirty four.
- 9:26Speaker 6: Hundred we're thirty five hundred, Now but two weeks ago
- 9:29Speaker 6: we were playing thirty three. Hundred last week they bumped
- 9:32Speaker 6: it down to twenty one, hundred then brought us back.
- 9:35Speaker 6: UP i kind of think they're doing a little bit
- 9:36Speaker 6: of work on one of the dams up above.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Us there are a couple of three lakes up, here
- 9:41Speaker 1: is that? Right?
- 9:42Speaker 6: Yeah so just above, us right where we put, in
- 9:44Speaker 6: we were just Below Alcova, reservoir say another fifteen minutes
- 9:48Speaker 6: upstream vehicle drive on the highway or At pathfinder and
- 9:51Speaker 6: then just a little bit of a pathfinder would Be.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Semino So devin grew up, here born and raised In,
- 9:57Speaker 1: casper And i'm asking about all these fish. Places so he, goes,
- 10:01Speaker 1: no why WOULD i go anywhere? Else it definitely spoiled
- 10:06Speaker 1: me through my. Youth let's SAY i didn't tie much
- 10:10Speaker 1: on with anything floral carbon related WHEN i was a.
- 10:12Speaker 1: KID i was basically just throwing two red rock words
- 10:15Speaker 1: to ten pound. Monofilament these fish obviously seeing more pressure,
- 10:19Speaker 1: now but made some dumb mistakes more so back then
- 10:22Speaker 1: because they just didn't see as much. Pressure there's definitely
- 10:25Speaker 1: one THING i gotta, say, though is WHEN i first
- 10:28Speaker 1: started guiding fly, FISHING i definitely WISH i knew now
- 10:32Speaker 1: what you know we knew then WHAT i know. Now
- 10:35Speaker 1: we all could say that for, sure because back then it,
- 10:38Speaker 1: was you, know as a, newbie it wasn't nothing to
- 10:41Speaker 1: put forty, fish you, know to the boat each. Day
- 10:43Speaker 1: and they're definitely more picky online diameter and having that
- 10:46Speaker 1: specific size, now AND i just WISH i could have
- 10:50Speaker 1: tied that all in. Then but, WELL i gotta tell,
- 10:53Speaker 1: You I'm we're looking at all the, boats you, know
- 10:55Speaker 1: when we're putting out this, morning And i'm, going, wow
- 10:58Speaker 1: that seems like a. Lot, Yeah And i'm, going how
- 11:02Speaker 1: are you catching fish with ten boats rended down the
- 11:05Speaker 1: river in front of? You and that was answered really
- 11:08Speaker 1: quickly this.
- 11:08Speaker 6: Morning, yes it definitely helps when you have more, depth
- 11:11Speaker 6: like the higher you put this, river the more boats
- 11:14Speaker 6: that you can have run over those fish and not
- 11:16Speaker 6: freak them out because then they have. Depth, definitely when
- 11:19Speaker 6: it's under fifteen, HUNDRED i have to utilize this fifteen
- 11:23Speaker 6: hundred acre ranch that the ugly bug has for us
- 11:25Speaker 6: to offer and try and get ahead of the, wave
- 11:28Speaker 6: just because those boats then push them into those deep,
- 11:30Speaker 6: troughs and you don't have a lot of deep Trough
- 11:33Speaker 6: when it's down at five hundred, cfs it's very short.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Lived so it's.
- 11:37Speaker 6: Nice when you can get out, ahead but this time
- 11:39Speaker 6: of year it don't.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Matter you can be back of the. Bus something that
- 11:43Speaker 1: surprised me was the percentage you told me of rainbow
- 11:48Speaker 1: at cutbow versus brown trout in this. River, yes so
- 11:52Speaker 1: we got a total of three different types of brown
- 11:54Speaker 1: trout in. Here we have locklaven which have just black.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Spotting have a hard time telling the difference between The
- 12:02Speaker 1: yougo and The german because both have black and red
- 12:04Speaker 1: spotting and they look very. Similar but your odds of
- 12:07Speaker 1: catching a brown trout are only two. Percent on the
- 12:10Speaker 1: cutthroat end of the, spectrum you're a little bit more
- 12:13Speaker 1: in the five. Percent and we have two different types
- 12:16Speaker 1: of cutthroats in. Here we got that fine spotted snake
- 12:19Speaker 1: river that you had, caught, ye WHICH i think is
- 12:21Speaker 1: the most beautiful that we. Have and then we got
- 12:23Speaker 1: another one that's called a bare river, cutthroat and it
- 12:26Speaker 1: looks a lot like the cut, bow but you're gonna be, like,
- 12:28Speaker 1: man this fish has a lot less spots than they're
- 12:30Speaker 1: a lot. Larger.
- 12:31Speaker 6: Yeah and then most people think that the majority of
- 12:34Speaker 6: what's in here.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Is, rainbows but it is. Not it is.
- 12:36Speaker 6: Cutbows odds of you catching a rainbow in a, Day
- 12:39Speaker 6: like say you go out in a day on a guided,
- 12:41Speaker 6: trip you go catch twenty, FISH i bet you two
- 12:44Speaker 6: of them are probably going to be true.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Rainbows. Yeah when you said, That i'm, going, no these are.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Rainbows and then every fish after that we're checking because
- 12:54Speaker 1: some of them have just that little orange right under
- 12:57Speaker 1: the gild play. Right sometimes they're hidden in the left
- 12:59Speaker 1: if you're not looking for you don't know for.
- 13:01Speaker 6: Sure and it definitely some show it more than, Others
- 13:03Speaker 6: like you can start seeing when you bring it in
- 13:05Speaker 6: and you're, like oh, wow.
- 13:06Speaker 1: This fish is really. Colorful, Yeah and you start to
- 13:08Speaker 1: see that orange tinge even on its lower belly. Fins
- 13:11Speaker 1: that's just still a, cutbow but carried more of the
- 13:14Speaker 1: cutthroat characteristics than some of the other. Today, yes most,
- 13:17Speaker 1: definitely and they get more red in them, too for.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Sure on that main stripe going down mid. Body why
- 13:25Speaker 1: is this more of a rainbow cut bow river than
- 13:29Speaker 1: a brown trout. River that's a tough one for me to.
- 13:33Speaker 1: ANSWER i really don't know on. That and it's been
- 13:35Speaker 1: like that since you grew up, here, right most, Definitely
- 13:38Speaker 1: and we have started to see the brown trout coming
- 13:40Speaker 1: back a little bit. More most of what they stalk
- 13:44Speaker 1: in through here's fingerlings and they're lucky to see a
- 13:46Speaker 1: tenth of them. Survive but one that's on the list
- 13:48Speaker 1: that they do not stalk anymore is brown. Trout they
- 13:51Speaker 1: do stalk The Snake, river, cutthroat The Bear, river cut,
- 13:54Speaker 1: throat the, cutbow and the, rainbow but they have not
- 13:56Speaker 1: stalked a brown trout in here in over thirty. Years,
- 13:59Speaker 1: wow how fast did these fish grow in this?
- 14:03Speaker 7: River you?
- 14:04Speaker 6: Know our previous head guide used to work for the fish,
- 14:06Speaker 6: hatchery and he said when they became, fingerlings they grew
- 14:08Speaker 6: pretty rampant until they were about eight to ten inches
- 14:12Speaker 6: and they did that within a couple. Months then at
- 14:15Speaker 6: eight to ten, inches it slows down a bunch and
- 14:18Speaker 6: a lot of it is based on how much feed
- 14:20Speaker 6: you have in the. River and the main reason why
- 14:22Speaker 6: they started throwing the hybrid cutbows back in here is
- 14:25Speaker 6: a big. Cutbow we'll get to be twenty five inches topped.
- 14:28Speaker 6: Out they grow super. FAST i really don't know for
- 14:32Speaker 6: sure how, quick but we have as you, see we
- 14:34Speaker 6: have a ton of feed in this, river leeches. Worms
- 14:37Speaker 6: today we saw Yellow sally's what was.
- 14:41Speaker 1: That snail that you told me. About that's not Indigenous
- 14:43Speaker 1: New zealand mud. Snail.
- 14:45Speaker 6: Yeah and when they first had told us that they
- 14:47Speaker 6: were in here in aquatic and vasis. Species not long
- 14:49Speaker 6: after that catch a fish. Release the fish have it
- 14:52Speaker 6: puking up the shells in my. Lap so it's obvious
- 14:54Speaker 6: that the fish are keying in on. Them AND i
- 14:56Speaker 6: think they have never posed an issue to this.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Fishery you, know it's funny you should mention the growth
- 15:02Speaker 1: because that's what they've determined about speckled trout And texas
- 15:06Speaker 1: in The bays Of texas is that they grow really fast.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Early but a twenty eight inch trout is a really old, trout.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Oh for.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Sure AND i had a client a couple of years,
- 15:17Speaker 1: ago back in twenty, nineteen catch a thirty inch brown
- 15:21Speaker 1: trout with me that was very substantial on. Weight BUT
- 15:23Speaker 1: i was. CURIOUS i showed the picture to.
- 15:25Speaker 6: A game of fish biologists AND i was, LIKE i,
- 15:27Speaker 6: know you're just, guessing but, like what do you? Think
- 15:29Speaker 6: and he's, LIKE i think that's probably like a twelve
- 15:31Speaker 6: year old, Fish and, definitely FOR i bet you a
- 15:34Speaker 6: twenty eight inch fish is probably still getting up around
- 15:36Speaker 6: that eight years.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Old, sure, absolutely, YEAH i. LOVE i, mean you have
- 15:42Speaker 1: to fish here every, day so you guys have skins
- 15:45Speaker 1: in the game as the best way to put it
- 15:47Speaker 1: in terms of taking care of these, fish for, Sure.
- 15:50Speaker 6: Yeah try to be as tedious with him as we.
- 15:53Speaker 6: Can and definitely at times of the year In august
- 15:55Speaker 6: when we start to get a little, HOTTER i definitely
- 15:57Speaker 6: noticed myself sizing up line a little little bit and
- 16:00Speaker 6: at times crimping that barb just that way and maybe
- 16:04Speaker 6: even chopping the third flyof and just running two that.
- 16:06Speaker 6: Way they can lean on those fish a little bit,
- 16:08Speaker 6: harder get them in without having to exhaust them.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Out any little thing you can DO i was concerned
- 16:14Speaker 1: today because it's ninety plus degrees, here by the, Way
- 16:17Speaker 1: that's not why we came To, wyoming but it's ninety
- 16:20Speaker 1: plus degrees And i'm talking to you about you, know
- 16:23Speaker 1: when do they back off on this? River but it's
- 16:27Speaker 1: a tail race, river and saw the water ruds cold?
- 16:31Speaker 6: Here, yes most. DEFINITELY i haven't taken water temp. Lately
- 16:35Speaker 6: but WHEN i took water temp roughly two to three weeks,
- 16:39Speaker 6: ago even, yet and we were still mid to upper,
- 16:41Speaker 6: EIGHTIES i was only getting fifty two degrees.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And that's not an.
- 16:45Speaker 6: Issue and we were only what would you, say two
- 16:48Speaker 6: three hundred yards below that dam where we put. In,
- 16:51Speaker 6: yeah and the only time it can get a little
- 16:53Speaker 6: dicey is in the. Fall we do like to fish
- 16:55Speaker 6: east To.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Casper, obviously the farther you get away from that, dam
- 16:59Speaker 1: the more water tenp you. Get and when we start
- 17:01Speaker 1: to drive fly and streamer fish down, there we definitely
- 17:04Speaker 1: have to keep track of those, tempts and maybe some
- 17:06Speaker 1: of those days you might have to bump off a little.
- 17:08Speaker 6: Early but when you're this close up At Grey reef
- 17:10Speaker 6: to the, dam you never have to worry about.
- 17:12Speaker 1: It what kind of pressure do you get in town
- 17:15Speaker 1: when the water is, right you, know it gets a decent,
- 17:19Speaker 1: bit but there's so many good stretches that open up
- 17:22Speaker 1: once you do have water clarity to town that you're
- 17:25Speaker 1: not really going to be. Congested say there's a lot
- 17:27Speaker 1: of boats that are going to be on the river that,
- 17:29Speaker 1: day but you may on that, time when it's that
- 17:31Speaker 1: clean and, clear you may see five. Boats, okay there
- 17:34Speaker 1: were a couple of guys that we saw waiting today
- 17:36Speaker 1: AND i made this remark that the guy's like two
- 17:39Speaker 1: feet from the shore and he's already up to his.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Waist it's, like there's a reason you can't be waiting
- 17:45Speaker 1: this river right. Now most definitely this river when it
- 17:48Speaker 1: gets ABOVE i mean it starts to get a little
- 17:51Speaker 1: ify at fifteen. Hundred at two, thousand it's almost not.
- 17:54Speaker 6: WAITABLE i, mean you take one step off the bank
- 17:57Speaker 6: and your belly button deep and that's where the boat
- 18:00Speaker 6: really keys.
- 18:00Speaker 1: In BUT i can't imagine it being too terribly much.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Longer that they'll run it at this thirty five and
- 18:05Speaker 1: then they'll start sizing down the flow a little, bit
- 18:07Speaker 1: and then some guys will be able to get out
- 18:10Speaker 1: there on them soft seams and catch some fish on
- 18:12Speaker 1: some dries and do some. Nyfan you're obviously an, outdoorsman
- 18:16Speaker 1: you're a. Hunter we talked about that a little, bit
- 18:18Speaker 1: but THERE i was interested in the upland game birds
- 18:21Speaker 1: that you hunt just in this. Area, yeah the ugly
- 18:24Speaker 1: bug they got fifteen the fly shot by the, Way,
- 18:27Speaker 1: yeah they got fifteen hundred acres of stuff right land
- 18:31Speaker 1: right along the. River and they have multiple duck blinds
- 18:34Speaker 1: that they lease out every. SEASON i got buddy that
- 18:37Speaker 1: leases one duck bline and leases the fields off The Ugly.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Bug and we definitely noticed that when we're hunting out
- 18:42Speaker 1: of this blind right upstream of us, here that it's
- 18:45Speaker 1: like ninety percent ducks and ten percent geese when you're
- 18:48Speaker 1: hunting on the. River but then when we jump right
- 18:50Speaker 1: over into the fields and we're ninety percent geese and
- 18:53Speaker 1: ten percent. Ducks, Yeah, well there are a lot of
- 18:55Speaker 1: geese right now are out, here oh for. Sure and
- 18:58Speaker 1: they definitely get just like the, antelope once that gunshot
- 19:01Speaker 1: goes off for the first, time they definitely get a
- 19:03Speaker 1: little bit more. Skittish but one thing that we really
- 19:06Speaker 1: rely on for our water fouling out here is most
- 19:09Speaker 1: of it is the river and town freezing, up then
- 19:11Speaker 1: our reservoirs freeze. Up, well this is the only eight
- 19:14Speaker 1: and a half mile stretch of water that's, open so
- 19:16Speaker 1: it's a little easier when you can condense them a
- 19:18Speaker 1: little bit. Too does The Ugly bug book different kinds
- 19:23Speaker 1: of hunts as. Well they have a pheasant farm so
- 19:26Speaker 1: from ok well we saw That october to the end Of,
- 19:28Speaker 1: march they do that guided pheasant, hunts and you can
- 19:32Speaker 1: also do it yourself and just go pay for pheasants
- 19:34Speaker 1: and go hunt some release. Birds they do also do
- 19:37Speaker 1: a few chuckers in. THERE a couple of the pheasants
- 19:39Speaker 1: are exotics and they're actually all gloss black and then
- 19:44Speaker 1: still have the.
- 19:45Speaker 6: Green ring neck going around, them but they definitely look
- 19:48Speaker 6: a little bit. Different but as far as the blinds,
- 19:50Speaker 6: go they just lease those blinds out per season.
- 19:53Speaker 1: To individuals for them to go do it. Themselves any
- 19:56Speaker 1: wild fest at all around, HERE i usually end up.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Jumping Like torrington has some wild, PHEASANTS i go venture
- 20:02Speaker 1: over to K, C. Wyoming you're only another hour to
- 20:05Speaker 1: go over to K c and hunt some wild. Pheasants
- 20:08Speaker 1: none particularly right around. Us our big issue is there's
- 20:12Speaker 1: plenty of feet along the river where the ugly bugs
- 20:15Speaker 1: releasing these, birds and there definitely could be a wild,
- 20:17Speaker 1: population but we end up getting too cold at the
- 20:21Speaker 1: end Of february In, march and the sad truth is
- 20:23Speaker 1: most of the birds end up just. Freezer and most
- 20:26Speaker 1: of these spots WHERE i see where pheasants could, go
- 20:29Speaker 1: it's either one or the. Other it's either not enough
- 20:31Speaker 1: feed or it gets too cold and they. Freeze sage
- 20:34Speaker 1: grouse are native to this, area are they?
- 20:37Speaker 6: Not, Yes and they were on a considering getting on
- 20:41Speaker 6: an endangered species, LIST i want to, say right about
- 20:43Speaker 6: the TIME i was ten years old and they started
- 20:45Speaker 6: bumping the limit down from three to. Two but most
- 20:48Speaker 6: of IT i just think that they weren't quite looking
- 20:50Speaker 6: in the right spots because we'd go up to our
- 20:52Speaker 6: El cutt and camp and we would go get our,
- 20:54Speaker 6: two you, know our limited two birds within thirty. MINUTES
- 20:58Speaker 6: i think a lot of it is just they're just
- 21:00Speaker 6: they're pretty far off the beaten. Path they're hard to,
- 21:02Speaker 6: hunt and definitely want to shoot the young ones on that.
- 21:05Speaker 6: End we always called the big ones out here.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Bombers my dad would always, say don't shoot the bomber
- 21:10Speaker 1: because you might as well cook your red wing leather
- 21:12Speaker 1: boot and eat. It but the young ones taste. Fantastic,
- 21:15Speaker 1: yeah how far are we away from a good elk hunting?
- 21:20Speaker 6: Area there's actually elk that cross right through The Ugly Bugs.
- 21:23Speaker 6: Ranch so basically right across the road from our lodge
- 21:27Speaker 6: would be The Shirley basin Area Shirley Mountain, range and
- 21:31Speaker 6: then up by The Miracle mile just Above, Pathfinders so
- 21:34Speaker 6: it'd be in between that, Seminole pathfinder reservoirs a stretcher
- 21:37Speaker 6: river called The Miracle. Mile it is a little bit
- 21:39Speaker 6: more than a mile. Long it really The Miracle mile
- 21:42Speaker 6: varies because it's not dammed up where it goes Into,
- 21:44Speaker 6: pathfinder but definitely up, THERE i.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Kind of lost my train of. Thought that's, Okay but
- 21:51Speaker 1: What i'm THE i want to talk about The Miracle
- 21:54Speaker 1: mile a little bit because that's got an unbelievable national,
- 21:58Speaker 1: reputation right because there's this idea that there's what ten
- 22:03Speaker 1: thousand fish per mile or something like. That DID i
- 22:05Speaker 1: get close to?
- 22:06Speaker 6: That, yes most, definitely definitely. Close and it also has
- 22:09Speaker 6: So Pathfinder reservoir is the second biggest reservoir In. Wyoming
- 22:12Speaker 6: the only thing that beats is Flaming, gorge and half
- 22:15Speaker 6: of that's In. Utah so one THING i always keep
- 22:18Speaker 6: coming back to in my mind it same as gray.
- 22:20Speaker 6: Reef thing takes a beaten and just it just keeps
- 22:23Speaker 6: taking it and keeps. Producing The mile is known more
- 22:26Speaker 6: for less numbers than Gray, reef but better average. SIZE
- 22:30Speaker 6: i can't imagine, that by the, Way and it's got
- 22:33Speaker 6: a lot of heavy, currents so boy do they take
- 22:35Speaker 6: you for a. Ride but that is one testament to
- 22:37Speaker 6: WHY i think that mile can take such a beating
- 22:39Speaker 6: as it has the second biggest reservoir In wyoming beating
- 22:43Speaker 6: it because it's not. Damp like you can float The
- 22:45Speaker 6: Miracle mile and next thing you, know you're in the.
- 22:46Speaker 6: Lake there's no.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Dam, okay oh all, right that does make a huge. Difference,
- 22:51Speaker 1: Right so like at times when the reservoirs say it's
- 22:54Speaker 1: thirty percent full and The Miracle miles flowing forty four
- 22:58Speaker 1: hundred cfs from top to the end of the, FLOW
- 23:01Speaker 1: i can almost float let's say twelve. Miles, okay, now
- 23:06Speaker 1: right now with the reservoir being seventy percent, full it's
- 23:09Speaker 1: flowing twenty seven hundred you're floating more four to five.
- 23:12Speaker 8: Miles.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Sure so The Ugly Bug Fly shop is in. Town
- 23:18Speaker 1: The Crazy Rainbow lodge is where we met. Today they
- 23:22Speaker 1: could TAKE i think you told me a group of
- 23:25Speaker 1: eight at that, lodge right and they will feed you
- 23:28Speaker 1: and take care of. You by the, way they fix
- 23:30Speaker 1: lunch for us. Today if you want to do, that
- 23:34Speaker 1: you can do. That depending on how many days you
- 23:36Speaker 1: sign up to. Fish this guy is on the. Water
- 23:39Speaker 1: would you tell me one hundred and sixty? Days, yeah
- 23:42Speaker 1: so From march Until october, fifth AND i take half
- 23:45Speaker 1: Of july And august, Off i'll do one hundred and sixty.
- 23:47Speaker 1: DAYS i take a lot Of october off SO i
- 23:50Speaker 1: can go l count for. Myself but IF i left
- 23:52Speaker 1: That october And november, up that's an easy nother minimum
- 23:56Speaker 1: of thirty days right? There is that because a lot
- 23:59Speaker 1: of people, well that is a great time to, fish
- 24:01Speaker 1: is it? Not for? Sure and the one big thing
- 24:03Speaker 1: that we have going for Us October november is you
- 24:06Speaker 1: get a lot of brown trout. Spawning so a lot
- 24:08Speaker 1: of the clients that do Come October. November october we
- 24:12Speaker 1: like to do east Of, casper on the other side of.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Town but then you get a lot of people that
- 24:16Speaker 1: want to fluctuate up to the mile to go catch those.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Browns so you figure the miracle or A pathfinder reservoir
- 24:23Speaker 1: loaded with brown. TROUT a pretty good population wants river
- 24:27Speaker 1: current to, spawn so they go jet right up into
- 24:29Speaker 1: the mile to. Spawn this is a very fertile. Area
- 24:33Speaker 1: the quality of fish today honestly just. UNBELIEVABLE i THINK
- 24:37Speaker 1: i told you this when we fished In breckenridge for
- 24:41Speaker 1: fish with every YEAR i, said we're coming up. Here he, Goes, oh,
- 24:43Speaker 1: great you'll never come back and see me. AGAIN i
- 24:46Speaker 1: wouldn't know WHAT i wouldn't have done without this fishery
- 24:48Speaker 1: through my, YOUTH i wouldn't have had a whole lot to.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Do but man out of, trouble definitely something special to
- 24:53Speaker 1: come to every, day and being so close to the
- 24:55Speaker 1: town Of, casper even if you do get a hotel In,
- 24:57Speaker 1: casper meet us at the lodge. Minutes, yeah you're twenty
- 25:00Speaker 1: minutes from the lodge to the. River if even, that
- 25:04Speaker 1: come out and fish with this. Guy he is. Fantastic Devin.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Burton and, again you can Google Crazy Rainbow lodge And.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Casper you can google Ugly bug Fly shop And Casper
- 25:17Speaker 1: book trips on either place on the, website which is
- 25:20Speaker 1: what we. Did AND i promise you're not going to be.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Disappointed AND i would say the chances of you hitting
- 25:28Speaker 1: ninety degree weather probably are less than what they normally. Are.
- 25:32Speaker 6: Correct the fact that we're supposed to be one hundred this,
- 25:35Speaker 6: weekend this baffles. Me especially two consecutive days in a.
- 25:39Speaker 6: Row we maybe usually have two days out of the
- 25:41Speaker 6: whole summer that usually get that.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Hot, WELL i know everybody's dying up, here and it
- 25:46Speaker 1: was hot, Today don't get me. Wrong the air stin
- 25:48Speaker 1: the sun was coming, down but it's, like, well you,
- 25:51Speaker 1: know the humidity's not seventy. Percent you, know we're not
- 25:54Speaker 1: sweating nearly as much AS i would just walking out
- 25:57Speaker 1: the door at. Home so y'all come on. Up we're

- 31:40Speaker 1: Here ALL i did was get A my wife got
- 31:44Speaker 1: a text this morning from a close relative of. Yours
- 31:49Speaker 1: didn't go into, details SO i don't know all the,
- 31:52Speaker 1: details AND i want you to tell your story as
- 31:56Speaker 1: it happened. Yesterday this was, yesterday last, evening, correct it sure.
- 32:01Speaker 15: Was SO i go on a walk every, day and
- 32:05Speaker 15: we have a little greenway by our house and kind
- 32:08Speaker 15: of surrounded by some trees and, things and SO i
- 32:11Speaker 15: went out walking on my normal. WALK i normally wear a,
- 32:15Speaker 15: hat but it was overcast yesterday AND i THOUGHT i
- 32:19Speaker 15: don't need the. Hat So i'm just going out talking
- 32:22Speaker 15: with my parents on the phone BECAUSE i was going
- 32:24Speaker 15: to stop by their house on my. Walk and next
- 32:27Speaker 15: THING i, knew. BOOM i just felt like somebody had
- 32:31Speaker 15: thrown a rock and hit me in the back of the.
- 32:34Speaker 15: Head AND i was completely shocked and a little disoriented at.
- 32:39Speaker 15: First SO i was kind of looking down a little,
- 32:41Speaker 15: bit AND i turned behind me BECAUSE i assumed somebody
- 32:44Speaker 15: had thrown something at, me and because there were no trees,
- 32:47Speaker 15: overhead SO i didn't think it could drop on. Me
- 32:50Speaker 15: and THEN i turned back around And i'd see this
- 32:53Speaker 15: hawk flying off in front of, me AND i was,
- 32:56Speaker 15: like oh my, goodness and SO i started touching my
- 32:59Speaker 15: head a little bit with my hand AND i could
- 33:01Speaker 15: see blood AND i was, like oh, Man so thankfully
- 33:05Speaker 15: it didn't knock me out or, anything but, yeah it.
- 33:08Speaker 15: Was it was definitely a little, surprising especially since two
- 33:11Speaker 15: days before that on my, WALK i had been, thinking you,
- 33:14Speaker 15: know what if a hawk were to dive bomb me
- 33:17Speaker 15: on my head in that same, area isn't that?
- 33:19Speaker 1: Weird so so it did it knock you?
- 33:23Speaker 15: Down, no it knocked me forward a little bit for. Sure, okay,
- 33:29Speaker 15: yeah but SO i have basically what looks like from
- 33:34Speaker 15: the beak a inch and a half kind of a.
- 33:38Speaker 15: Scratch it did not require, stitches but inch and a half.
- 33:41Speaker 15: Scratch and then maybe about five or six little you
- 33:46Speaker 15: could tell they were talon scratches and not really, scratches
- 33:50Speaker 15: but like got you, know kind of where the talents
- 33:53Speaker 15: had tried to grab into my.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Head but did they? Have did?
- 33:57Speaker 13: They?
- 33:57Speaker 1: So so you? Went you went to uh urgent? Care?
- 34:01Speaker 1: RIGHT i?
- 34:02Speaker 8: DID i?
- 34:02Speaker 6: Did?
- 34:03Speaker 1: Okay and so did they have to shave part of
- 34:08Speaker 1: your head as they were searching for, wounds marks and
- 34:11Speaker 1: stuff or?
- 34:12Speaker 15: Not no they. Didn't thankfully none of the wounds were
- 34:16Speaker 15: deep enough to require, stitches so we had washed it
- 34:20Speaker 15: with saline wound wash here at the, house and then
- 34:23Speaker 15: they did some additional cleaning up. There they got me some,
- 34:27Speaker 15: antibiotics and THEN i also got a tetanus.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Shot, okay you got a tetnis shot and the. Antibiotics
- 34:33Speaker 1: i'm guessing you'll have to be on for a couple of,
- 34:35Speaker 1: weeks and that's just to prevent, infection.
- 34:38Speaker 15: Correct, exactly because you never know what's in those talents
- 34:44Speaker 15: because they're picking up all sorts of rodents and, animals
- 34:47Speaker 15: and so you got to make.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Sure how are you feeling? TODAY i feel, Fine, OKAY
- 34:53Speaker 1: i feel totally.
- 34:54Speaker 15: Fine other than you, know it just feels a little
- 34:56Speaker 15: sort of the, touch AND i can definitely still feel
- 34:59Speaker 15: that my head is swollen in the spot where the impact.
- 35:02Speaker 15: Occurred how big was the? Hawk you? KNOW i couldn't
- 35:08Speaker 15: WHEN i by the TIME i looked, up he was
- 35:10Speaker 15: a little bit off in the. Distance but in, General
- 35:13Speaker 15: i've seen him in my backyard because the nest is
- 35:18Speaker 15: basically in the backyard of the, house right behind, us
- 35:21Speaker 15: up in the, tree and So i've seen him, before
- 35:24Speaker 15: and they are generally ABOUT i would say eighteen eighteen
- 35:31Speaker 15: to twenty inches. Tall, okay, okay they'll sit on the.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Fence decent decent. Size decent. Size, yeah were you close
- 35:40Speaker 1: to the? Nest when were you just beginning your? Walk
- 35:43Speaker 1: were you close to the? Nest you?
- 35:46Speaker 15: KNOW i would say THAT i was PROBABLY i wasn't
- 35:50Speaker 15: anywhere super, Close, no but you know it was probably
- 35:57Speaker 15: at least fifty fifty yards from the. Nest twenty to
- 36:01Speaker 15: fifty yards from the.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Nest had you do you know if they if they're
- 36:05Speaker 1: young hawks in that? Nest do you know that or?
- 36:08Speaker 15: NOT i do, Not but my neighbor had followed, it
- 36:14Speaker 15: and that's what she was that it was her assumption
- 36:17Speaker 15: when she was telling us about the location of the,
- 36:20Speaker 15: Nest SO i don't know if she's seen them or
- 36:23Speaker 15: what does she?
- 36:24Speaker 1: Know this happened to you last? Night oh, yes, okay it.
- 36:27Speaker 15: Does, okay we told several of our neighbors because they
- 36:30Speaker 15: walk on the same area as we, do AND i
- 36:33Speaker 15: didn't want them to absolutely have the same wonderful.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Experience so, so BECAUSE i don't know if anybody has
- 36:42Speaker 1: walked in that path since you, have BUT i guess
- 36:44Speaker 1: everybody has to be on the outlook, now, right, ABSOLUTELY i,
- 36:48Speaker 1: mean in your wildest, imagination like you, said you thought
- 36:52Speaker 1: you got hit by a rock from, behind, RIGHT i
- 36:55Speaker 1: mean you. Don't you don't think of an attack an animal,
- 36:58Speaker 1: attack that's.
- 37:00Speaker 15: Right, well, yeah it was definitely a.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Shock so the the bad news is he took after.
- 37:08Speaker 1: You the good news is maybe there aren't as many
- 37:11Speaker 1: snakes and rats in your neighborhood as there were.
- 37:14Speaker 15: Before, well that's that's. True we've definitely seen a lot
- 37:17Speaker 15: of these hawks around over the LAST i want to say,
- 37:21Speaker 15: year okay to two years something like, That so they've moved.
- 37:25Speaker 15: In we've Got do you have? Pets at least we.
- 37:29Speaker 15: Do do we have a?
- 37:30Speaker 1: Dog is a large?
- 37:32Speaker 15: One medium? Sized?
- 37:35Speaker 1: Okay? Okay like? That are you a little hesitant at
- 37:40Speaker 1: the moment to let this dog out of your? Sight?
- 37:45Speaker 15: NO i don't think. SO i mean we've we've had a,
- 37:48Speaker 15: year year and a half experience of the hawks being.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Around, okay and are that do you? Know are these
- 37:55Speaker 1: redtail hawks? Matter do you? Know?
- 37:58Speaker 7: Ah?
- 37:58Speaker 15: Boy THAT i cannot say for.
- 38:01Speaker 1: SURE i, mean obviously there's something that looked from.
- 38:04Speaker 15: That by the TIME i looked, up the one that
- 38:06Speaker 15: hit me was was pretty far off in the distant
- 38:10Speaker 15: and kind of uh flying near the in the within,
- 38:14Speaker 15: trees but it looked brown.
- 38:17Speaker 1: To, me, right, Okay so SO i mean this was
- 38:20Speaker 1: just like one attack and, gone, right that's. Weird it's
- 38:24Speaker 1: kind of. Weird, yeah, Okay, uh, WELL i know we
- 38:28Speaker 1: have people in the in the community because they're experts
- 38:32Speaker 1: on everything in this community that that can probably give
- 38:36Speaker 1: a maybe a different. Explanation but BUT i immediately WHEN
- 38:40Speaker 1: i heard about, IT i, thought, well that that hawk's
- 38:42Speaker 1: protecting a. Nest THAT'S i mean, that, right because because that's,
- 38:47Speaker 1: unusual because hawks generally speaking don't attack, People.
- 38:52Speaker 15: That's. RIGHT i don't. Know maybe my neighbor, said, well
- 38:56Speaker 15: maybe your head looked like a.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Squirrel that's that's that's what that, was not a, COMPLIMENT
- 39:04Speaker 1: i don't, think, right, Right, Hey i'm glad you're. Okay.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Uh NORMALLY i say get them before they get. You
- 39:13Speaker 1: in this, case you, know hawks are certainly protected. Species
- 39:18Speaker 1: BUT i guess you'll wear a hat now on future.
- 39:22Speaker 15: Walks absolutely, absolutely.
- 39:26Speaker 1: So you won't look as much like a. Squirrel, yeah you,
- 39:30Speaker 1: KNOW i.
- 39:32Speaker 15: Definitely don't want to go through this.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Again, Hey i'm glad we can laugh about. IT i
- 39:36Speaker 1: know it's not. FUNNY i, know there's got to be
- 39:38Speaker 1: a little bit of trauma, involved because this is not
- 39:41Speaker 1: an everyday, occurrence.
- 39:45Speaker 15: Not at, all not at. All you, KNOW i must
- 39:48Speaker 15: have ruffled some feathers AND i deserve.
- 39:50Speaker 1: It maybe, So, no that is not. True you did
