- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast this week on Yo
- 0:13Speaker 1: Gabble Gabble. If you let me tell your friend you'll
- 0:15Speaker 1: take care of her dog for a while and then
- 0:16Speaker 1: say you're keeping it. Can you do that? Judge matthis
- 0:20Speaker 1: will tell us.
- 0:21Speaker 2: And if you break up with your significant other and
- 0:24Speaker 2: you take the cats, can they sue you and get
- 0:27Speaker 2: them ownie?
- 0:29Speaker 1: Judge Ebony Williams tells us real people, locases, fake justice.
- 0:36Speaker 1: It's a holy my goodness, it's animal. We see it
- 0:40Speaker 1: come in animal. Oh boy, animal. We didn't talk about
- 0:44Speaker 1: this at all. Oh that is crazy. Different judges, different animals,
- 0:49Speaker 1: fake justice. That's exactly right. Hi, everybody, welcome to Yo
- 0:52Speaker 1: Gabba Gable. A very simple program.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Dan, you and I we love the TV courtroom shows.
- 0:59Speaker 2: It doesn't matter which one it is, we love them.
- 1:03Speaker 2: And uh, I watched one that Dan did not watch,
- 1:06Speaker 2: and I'm gonna tellhim about He's gonna try to guess
- 1:08Speaker 2: the verdicts and uh, then he's gonna do the exact
- 1:10Speaker 2: same thing for me. And you can play along at home,
- 1:12Speaker 2: try to figure out what that verdict's is gonna be.
- 1:15Speaker 2: And you can also leave us a rating and a
- 1:17Speaker 2: review on Apple podcasts.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Uh, that's okay.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Where you could like comment comment on episodes on Spotify.
- 1:27Speaker 1: That's the thing you can do.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Just we love hearing from the people. Let us know,
- 1:32Speaker 2: and maybe this is I found a new judge today.
- 1:35Speaker 2: There's judges out there that we're not privy to yet.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Let us know if there's somebody that we should be
- 1:41Speaker 2: checking out or we always love when people send in
- 1:45Speaker 2: us brand adictthhomer dot com or danadeckthhomer dot com. We'd
- 1:48Speaker 2: love to see it, or hello at deck Thehomark dot
- 1:50Speaker 2: com a catch all?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Can I go first to go?
- 1:55Speaker 2: I think this might be the lowest amount of money
- 2:01Speaker 2: that somebody is suing for so far on you gabble,
- 2:04Speaker 2: gabble the lowest I think.
- 2:06Speaker 1: So I'm trying to wrap my brain or and racket.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I'm trying to do all. However, you Judge Jerry's that
- 2:14Speaker 1: have been like borderline double digits. Yes, this is a
- 2:17Speaker 1: double digit, double digit case.
- 2:20Speaker 2: So what better way to meet, uh Judge ebonie K Williams. Uh,
- 2:26Speaker 2: this program is called equal Justice with Judge Ebonie K Williams.
- 2:30Speaker 2: You could put on any word to begin the sentence,
- 2:34Speaker 2: A big justice Justice fast justice, smooth justice. It doesn't matter,
- 2:41Speaker 2: Judge Ebene Ebonye K. Williams, will we'll get it done.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I you know, I always like watching the little introductions
- 2:48Speaker 2: of the judge, especially because you know, we got Judge Ross, Yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 2: understanding what's overstanding. This is my big takeaway from Judge
- 2:58Speaker 2: Ebane K Williams. She's as I am, from North Carolina
- 3:03Speaker 2: by way of Louisiana, with some West Coast cool and
- 3:08Speaker 2: some New York edge.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Yeah, West Coast cool, New York hetge, She's been everywhere,
- 3:13Speaker 1: done it all. And that is Judge Ebany K. Williams.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I want to introduce you to Tom Frisk. Tom Frisk
- 3:22Speaker 2: is suing his ex girlfriend, Elisa Shay for ninety five dogs,
- 3:29Speaker 2: ninety five bones, ninety five dollars, which is the amount
- 3:34Speaker 2: for a pet adoption.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Okay. Tom claims that Alisha his ex girl.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Now, what you need to know really quickly is this
- 3:45Speaker 2: it's kind of a free flowing situation. I'm gonna drop
- 3:47Speaker 2: the intro. I got the feeling I'm trying. I'm trying
- 3:50Speaker 2: to put this in a clear and concise.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And be But after the intro, Louisiana and North Carolina,
- 3:58Speaker 1: New York who the West Coast all of it. Yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Tom claims that Alisha, his ex girlfriend, stole his two cats.
- 4:06Speaker 2: She began to tear down his character, and she was
- 4:11Speaker 2: trying to say that I wasn't doing enough, I wasn't
- 4:13Speaker 2: paying enough bills. But really I was covering the entire rents,
- 4:19Speaker 2: which is one of the biggest And this is how
- 4:22Speaker 2: he says it. He spind egg chures, spend atures, yes,
- 4:27Speaker 2: great of the family, and he thinks that he is
- 4:31Speaker 2: doing a pretty good job of being responsible.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Now.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Alis says that the reason why he was responsible for
- 4:39Speaker 2: the rent is because before I moved in, I was
- 4:42Speaker 2: living with my parents, so I never had to pay
- 4:44Speaker 2: rent before. I didn't have it budgeted and he never
- 4:46Speaker 2: asked me.
- 4:48Speaker 1: So where do you go?
- 4:50Speaker 2: Ultimately, all of this doesn't come down to them breaking up.
- 4:54Speaker 2: It doesn't come out to any of that. It's just
- 4:57Speaker 2: about the cats. Erica says that they are so cute.
- 5:00Speaker 1: How many two Okay, we see pictures of the two cats.
- 5:04Speaker 1: They are cute.
- 5:06Speaker 2: It is Opal and Pearl, Opal and Pearl, and uh
- 5:11Speaker 2: he already had Pearl, I believe, but they adopt Opal together. Okay,
- 5:18Speaker 2: So two months after getting Pearl. They end up paying
- 5:22Speaker 2: adopt yes, and so Tom after I'm sorry. Two months
- 5:27Speaker 2: after they adopt the pet, Tom loses his job.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:34Speaker 2: She gives evidence now showing that she paid for Pearl
- 5:38Speaker 2: and Opal's medical fees. We'll get to that in a second,
- 5:41Speaker 2: and she says, honestly, I was a little hesitant about
- 5:44Speaker 2: getting a second cat to begin with because the bills
- 5:46Speaker 2: were tight to begin with. So you might be wondering,
- 5:50Speaker 2: why is he suing for ninety five dollars. He says
- 5:53Speaker 2: that that is the adoption fee for Pearl. He says, ultimately,
- 5:58Speaker 2: what he really wants is he wants his catch. Erica
- 6:02Speaker 2: explains that the night before they broke up, Opel had
- 6:05Speaker 2: an accident.
- 6:07Speaker 1: She stepped on a nail.
- 6:10Speaker 2: What.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I don't know. It doesn't seem like that should be
- 6:13Speaker 1: in the realm of possibility because cats are so agile.
- 6:16Speaker 2: It's not much like they. I don't know how it
- 6:20Speaker 2: I don't know was the was it home alone style
- 6:23Speaker 2: nail tar? Was it up? I don't know, flat like,
- 6:28Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know anyway that nail go
- 6:33Speaker 2: all the way through the foot.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 6:35Speaker 2: We don't get pictures and we don't get any more information.
- 6:38Speaker 2: But that's what I was stuck on as well. Shout
- 6:40Speaker 2: out o so Erica. They had to take the Opal
- 6:45Speaker 2: to the er. Obviously, Erica went into work with the
- 6:49Speaker 2: understanding that Tom would bring Opel home after the nail
- 6:54Speaker 2: had been removed in the surgery.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I guess there's surgery. I don't know.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Again, she's not suing him for the medical expenses, all
- 7:02Speaker 2: on the only money I know of for But then
- 7:09Speaker 2: he calls her last minute, is like, hey, ople's ready
- 7:13Speaker 2: to go, but I just got a job interview, right, Okay,
- 7:17Speaker 2: So she's like, go, go go, this is great. I will,
- 7:20Speaker 2: I'll leave work early and I'll go get Opal. But
- 7:24Speaker 2: when she gets home, she is surprised to see that
- 7:28Speaker 2: her boo than is at home playing video games.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Oh no, I know.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So she's frustrated, right, She's frustrated, and she's feeling overwhelmed
- 7:39Speaker 2: by the bills and feeling like he's not trying. And
- 7:43Speaker 2: he didn't get up and hug me, he didn't apologize.
- 7:47Speaker 1: That would have gone a long way.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Instead, what our guy Tom Frisk does is says, if
- 7:55Speaker 2: you feel like, if you feel like I'm bringing you down,
- 7:59Speaker 2: we can break, we can break, we can break. Man.
- 8:02Speaker 1: What a guy? What a guy?
- 8:04Speaker 2: So she says okay, and then takes the cats without
- 8:11Speaker 2: telling him. And she does this, she says, because she
- 8:15Speaker 2: believes that she can take care of the cats better
- 8:17Speaker 2: than he can.
- 8:18Speaker 1: He's not responsible.
- 8:20Speaker 2: So he reiterates that he just wants his cats back,
- 8:23Speaker 2: or at the very least opal pearl, yeah, pearl, whatever.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 8:29Speaker 2: So he uh submits the adoption papers on him.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Yes, but the judge points out Erica's name is on it.
- 8:37Speaker 2: As well, so technically it belongs to both y'all. So
- 8:43Speaker 2: judge says, Erica, these cats belong to both of you.
- 8:47Speaker 2: You can't think that it's okay to just take them, right.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Erica breathes a big sigh and then says this, if
- 8:57Speaker 2: I could go back in time, I would have told
- 9:01Speaker 2: him that I'm taking the cats instead of just taking care.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Erica, and Judge Ebony Williams is ready
- 9:09Speaker 2: to rule.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I mean, she's gotta do something with the cats, and
- 9:13Speaker 1: not the money. I think the money is it doesn't matter,
- 9:17Speaker 1: like if she rules, he gets ninety five dollars. What
- 9:19Speaker 1: she's really saying is is that she gets the cats.
- 9:23Speaker 1: So I don't think you can do that, But I
- 9:24Speaker 1: don't know how. I don't know how rigid this particular
- 9:27Speaker 1: courtroom is. She's gonna not knowing ebity k at all.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I would say she's gonna come up with some off
- 9:35Speaker 1: the books judgment that gives them joint custody of the cats.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Uh.
- 9:40Speaker 1: She says, First of all, you're wrong.
- 9:43Speaker 2: She says, I can't legally do anything about the cats,
- 9:48Speaker 2: like they're both of you. She takes some so not
- 9:51Speaker 2: like she took something that doesn't belong to her. Her
- 9:52Speaker 2: name is also on it. All I really can do
- 9:56Speaker 2: is give you the ninety five dollars. I can't make
- 9:59Speaker 2: her give the cat back. I can make her give
- 10:02Speaker 2: you the ninety five dollars, and now I guess the
- 10:05Speaker 2: cat is hers. Now wow, that's all that she can
- 10:08Speaker 2: do in this situation. That's all that she will do.
- 10:11Speaker 2: He gets the big old ninety five stacked.
- 10:16Speaker 1: What are you gonna do with many? Waiting? Maybe buy
- 10:19Speaker 1: another cat?
- 10:19Speaker 2: Eviny Kay Williams gabbles and she gets out of here. Listen,
- 10:24Speaker 2: this courtroom was a little bit too lucy goosey. I'm
- 10:29Speaker 2: not used to it like I'm used to like linear story,
- 10:34Speaker 2: and this was a lot of like I had. I
- 10:36Speaker 2: was having to put a lot of pieces together here.
- 10:38Speaker 2: But she's fun.
- 10:40Speaker 1: She's fun.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I like her all right, and this case could not
- 10:42Speaker 2: have mattered less. And she took it very seriously, and
- 10:46Speaker 2: so I can.
- 10:47Speaker 1: See myself going back. This is a newer show.
- 10:48Speaker 2: It started in twenty twenty three. It's a syndicate, so
- 10:52Speaker 2: it's it's very similar. It's by the same company that
- 10:54Speaker 2: does Judge Ross okay, and so it looks almost identical.
- 10:59Speaker 1: And so it's like, you know those random networks.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Can I got to check it out and put it
- 11:04Speaker 2: on in the middle of the day, and so jud
- 11:05Speaker 2: jeviny K Williams, Joe, what is it?
- 11:08Speaker 1: Equal justice? Equal just tool justice with m andyk All right,
- 11:12Speaker 1: let's go over to mathis My Boy Matthews. Mika Walker
- 11:16Speaker 1: is suing her former friend Mea Lane for twenty five
- 11:20Speaker 1: hundred dollars for stealing her dog. Me Elaine is counter
- 11:24Speaker 1: suing for three thousand, three ninety eight dollars. Let's get
- 11:29Speaker 1: into it. Anka says, I'm I'm here today because this
- 11:33Speaker 1: woman stole a member of my family. That's right. Mia says,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I object your honor. I love it.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I love it when people object in a TV court.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Matthis is matthis does the look. He's like, man, if
- 11:47Speaker 1: you did you study up on the lawns like I
- 11:49Speaker 1: work at a law She's He's like, okay, okay, I've
- 11:52Speaker 1: seen movies. That's right, Yeah, I've seen Anika says. My
- 11:57Speaker 1: dog's name is Winkie. He's a part of my family.
- 12:00Speaker 1: My kids love Winky. Oh there's kids involved. Yeah, my
- 12:04Speaker 1: kids love Winky. I love Winky. He's a very important
- 12:06Speaker 1: what type of dog, tiny, little terrier dog? A little winky? Uh.
- 12:12Speaker 1: She said, I received notice from my apartment saying that
- 12:14Speaker 1: I had to pay a pet deposit or get rid
- 12:16Speaker 1: of my dog. We were in the process of moving apartments.
- 12:20Speaker 1: In fact, we were moving out and we were closing
- 12:22Speaker 1: on a house and it was happening in the next
- 12:25Speaker 1: few months. I didn't want to pay the deposit because
- 12:28Speaker 1: it just seemed crazy they were asking for this because
- 12:30Speaker 1: I was leaving. Yeah. Yeah, well the.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Worst case, you know, they don't give you back your
- 12:34Speaker 2: security deposit.
- 12:35Speaker 1: So I'm on the phone, she says with Mia at
- 12:37Speaker 1: the time, and Mia says, I'll just just bring them over,
- 12:42Speaker 1: like I'll keep the dog. He can stay over here
- 12:46Speaker 1: and you can come see him, your kids can come
- 12:48Speaker 1: see him, no problem, Mathis said, friend, how long did
- 12:52Speaker 1: you expect that to me? Anika says, maybe a few
- 12:56Speaker 1: months at the most. We're in the process of closing
- 12:58Speaker 1: a house. I mean she's moving out in two months.
- 13:01Speaker 1: She's moving out the house. Yes, yeah, Matha says, what
- 13:04Speaker 1: was the agreement that she was just going to voluntarily
- 13:08Speaker 1: keep your dog? And Anika says, yes, you're on her.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I knew there was going to be a problem though,
- 13:13Speaker 1: when she went and put a chip in him, so
- 13:16Speaker 1: now she knows where he is all the time. Why
- 13:19Speaker 1: would you go and put a chip in my dog?
- 13:21Speaker 1: I don't really think. I don't think that's how. That's
- 13:24Speaker 1: not how the chips were. It isn't. Mia has been
- 13:27Speaker 1: waiting the whole time after the eye object, obviously, she says,
- 13:30Speaker 1: because that's what you do when you're a responsible dog owner,
- 13:34Speaker 1: your honor. She had had this dog for six months.
- 13:37Speaker 1: The dog had no vaccines, the dog wasn't being groomed,
- 13:41Speaker 1: the dog did not have a microchip, The dog was
- 13:45Speaker 1: getting sick. I took the dog to the vet to
- 13:50Speaker 1: do the things you do when you own a dog.
- 13:54Speaker 1: That is what I did. I'm appalled, and yes, I'm appalled,
- 13:59Speaker 1: shot and totally disturbed that I'm here at all. I've
- 14:02Speaker 1: been a good friend to Anika. My family's been a
- 14:05Speaker 1: good friend to her. We've even bailed her out at jail.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Wow.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Some might say that she's a pod ah okay, so
- 14:15Speaker 1: Mia says she Anica likes to glamorize a life with
- 14:17Speaker 1: pimps and drug dealers, but she at that point, Mathis goes,
- 14:22Speaker 1: but she could, but she couldn't afford the pet deposit.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Come on now, and then he says it is a recession.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Things are tough out on the streets.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Mia says, this is very different characterizations, Like one is
- 14:35Speaker 2: I am in the process.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Of buying a house. Yeah. The other is she's living
- 14:40Speaker 1: this crazy life with pimps. I don't know how much
- 14:43Speaker 1: I buy that buying the house thing. But we don't
- 14:46Speaker 1: get any paperwork on it. All right, uh, Mia says.
- 14:49Speaker 1: The bottom line is she never took the responsibility to
- 14:51Speaker 1: pay her pet deposit. And then when I took the
- 14:53Speaker 1: dog for her, she had a boyfriend, and sometimes when
- 14:55Speaker 1: she has a boyfriend, she forgets about everything else. Anica said,
- 14:59Speaker 1: she's just mad that she and have no man. At
- 15:00Speaker 1: the time, they argue about whether or not Mia has
- 15:04Speaker 1: a man or not, it's a whole thing. Then we
- 15:06Speaker 1: move on. So Math's is like, what was the agreement
- 15:09Speaker 1: on the dog? Mia said Winky would come to my
- 15:13Speaker 1: house and live with us, and she would continue to provide.
- 15:15Speaker 1: She was supposed to provide the food and the vet,
- 15:18Speaker 1: any vet responsibilities or anything that Winky needed. In October,
- 15:22Speaker 1: Winky started getting very sick. I called a Nika told
- 15:25Speaker 1: her I had to go to the vet and needed
- 15:27Speaker 1: money from her no answer, texted her no answer. Also
- 15:31Speaker 1: told her that if she couldn't provide me the money,
- 15:33Speaker 1: I would pay out of my own pocket. But I
- 15:34Speaker 1: told her, if I had to go to the vet
- 15:36Speaker 1: and do all of this stuff, this is my dog.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I told her, this is my dog. If I if
- 15:41Speaker 1: you cannot get back to me and give me this money,
- 15:44Speaker 1: if I'm going to take care of this dog and
- 15:46Speaker 1: pay out of my own pocket, it's my dog. Via text,
- 15:51Speaker 1: I don't know which it was. She keeps saying calls in.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Text matha Matthis says, do you think you can call
- 15:59Speaker 3: someone and say to them that something that's theirs, is
- 16:02Speaker 3: now yours?
- 16:04Speaker 1: Can you do you think you can do that? Is
- 16:06Speaker 1: that something you think you can do? Mia said, your honor.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I mean, I guess I've misspoken a little bit. When
- 16:12Speaker 1: Winki became sick in October, I called and texted for
- 16:16Speaker 1: several weeks and there was no response, no call like
- 16:21Speaker 1: calls texts. She didn't get back to me, she didn't
- 16:24Speaker 1: check in on the dog, she didn't come visit the dog.
- 16:27Speaker 1: At that point, I just assumed ownership of the dog.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Matthis says, but how are you gonna threaten to take
- 16:34Speaker 1: somebody else's dog? Anika says, your honor. When I took
- 16:38Speaker 1: him over there, I brought all of his stuff there,
- 16:40Speaker 1: his flea, meds, his cologne. What she says, his cologne.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Then she says two or three other like cosmetic things. Sure,
- 16:47Speaker 1: and matthis goes that's ghetto fabulous, ma'am. You just mentioned
- 16:52Speaker 1: cologne and three other things a dog doesn't need. What
- 16:55Speaker 1: about food? What about a bed? What about like? He's
- 17:00Speaker 1: really really like, what are you talking about? Colonne? Anika's like,
- 17:04Speaker 1: I cared about the dog, My kids cared about the dog.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I didn't know she was gonna punk me and take
- 17:08Speaker 1: my dog. That's what she said. Mia said, uh no,
- 17:13Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Matthis says, but what legal basis do you
- 17:17Speaker 1: have for keeping the dog? Mia says she abandoned the dog.
- 17:22Speaker 1: She abandoned it, and Matthis says, did you give her
- 17:25Speaker 1: written notice that you were going to take the dog
- 17:28Speaker 1: because she had abandoned it? She said, you're honor. I
- 17:31Speaker 1: sent her text and phone calls saying if you're not
- 17:34Speaker 1: going to do anything with your dog, I'm going to
- 17:36Speaker 1: keep the dog. Matthews says, do you have any of
- 17:39Speaker 1: those text messages? Mia says no, Just watch an episode.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Just do the watch one episode, Watch one episode. Matthis
- 17:50Speaker 1: looks looks at Anika and says, did she send you
- 17:53Speaker 1: a text message? Anica says no, of course she did.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Anka brings a witness. It's her cousin, Samantha. Samantha says
- 18:01Speaker 1: Aniko would never give that dog away. I'm currently living
- 18:03Speaker 1: with her and both of her kids are crying about
- 18:06Speaker 1: this dog NonStop. They missed the dog. They want the
- 18:08Speaker 1: dog back. So let's get down to it. Mathis says, so,
- 18:15Speaker 1: ma'am me, your counterclaim is for boarding fees, which you
- 18:20Speaker 1: decided to charge. Thirty dollars a day for boarding fees
- 18:25Speaker 1: for ten I guess for one hundred days because it
- 18:29Speaker 1: was three thousand dollars in boarding fees, vet bills and
- 18:32Speaker 1: vaccinations for three hundred and ninety eight dollars. And you
- 18:37Speaker 1: want to keep this dog and you want her to
- 18:39Speaker 1: pay for all of that, Mia says, no, your honor,
- 18:45Speaker 1: I'm not asking for anything after I decided to keep
- 18:47Speaker 1: the dog. This money was just during the time right
- 18:51Speaker 1: after I told her i'd keep the dog, where I
- 18:53Speaker 1: kept calling and asking her. There's been many more vet
- 18:55Speaker 1: bills since then. She'd have to pay for any of that.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I just if she's going to take me to court
- 19:00Speaker 1: to sue me for a dog she neglected, I'm countersuing
- 19:03Speaker 1: him for the time I spent taking care of what,
- 19:04Speaker 1: at that point was her dog. That's what she's saying.
- 19:08Speaker 1: She never once asked about Winki. She never once came
- 19:11Speaker 1: to visit Winky. She never once offered to pay for anything,
- 19:15Speaker 1: never offered to come see him, never offer to bring
- 19:17Speaker 1: him any treats, never asked if he needed to be groomed.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Nothing Matthis says, did you ever give her any money
- 19:26Speaker 1: to take care of the dog? Anika says, no, it
- 19:28Speaker 1: was never set up for that. Matthis said, did you
- 19:31Speaker 1: know she had to take care of the dog to
- 19:33Speaker 1: the vet? Anika says yes. Matthis said, do you believe
- 19:37Speaker 1: you should pay? Anka said, well, I want my dog back.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I would have paid her. She didn't want any money.
- 19:44Speaker 1: She wanted to steal my dog. So three thousand for
- 19:51Speaker 1: boarding fees, three hundred and sixty eight dollars or ninety
- 19:54Speaker 1: eight dollars whatever that is for vaccinations and vet bills,
- 19:58Speaker 1: the twenty five hundred dollars NA suing for eight hundred
- 20:01Speaker 1: dollars for her dog, the cost of it seventeen hundred
- 20:06Speaker 1: in emotional distress for someone stealing her dog. Mathis is
- 20:11Speaker 1: ready to rule.
- 20:13Speaker 2: My gosh, I mean a lot of this, you know,
- 20:18Speaker 2: don't I don't get the honor of getting to really
- 20:21Speaker 2: interact with these two people.
- 20:23Speaker 1: You know, It's tough. This is a very tough case,
- 20:26Speaker 1: and so I just have to go off of the
- 20:28Speaker 1: facts here.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I believe that what should happen is they should have
- 20:38Speaker 2: to give the dog back, and Anika should have to pay.
- 20:45Speaker 1: All that money.
- 20:46Speaker 2: The sum of money at the very least she has
- 20:50Speaker 2: to pay the vet bills the three hundred and whatever
- 20:53Speaker 2: it is. I a lot of this could have been
- 20:59Speaker 2: ironed out a little bit more with you know, proof.
- 21:04Speaker 2: So it's like hard because it's like I just based
- 21:08Speaker 2: off of what you told me. I tend to believe
- 21:12Speaker 2: that this that Mia really did reach out to Anika
- 21:17Speaker 2: and she really like was ghosting, or maybe she had
- 21:21Speaker 2: a lot going on. I don't know, but I think
- 21:23Speaker 2: at that point she is inclined to get some money
- 21:27Speaker 2: for watching the dog. But I don't have any evidence
- 21:31Speaker 2: of her reaching out to her, of Anika not responding,
- 21:36Speaker 2: And so for that reason, I'm going to order Mia
- 21:39Speaker 2: to give the dog back, and I'm gonna order Anika
- 21:42Speaker 2: to pay for the vet bills.
- 21:44Speaker 1: And that's what I'm gonna do. So you're close. Matthis
- 21:49Speaker 1: says you can't charge for boarding fees. You can't do
- 21:51Speaker 1: that in retrospect if you have no proof of any
- 21:54Speaker 1: of this. You told her you'd keep the doll. You
- 21:56Speaker 1: can't charge for vet bills. I mean for boarding fees,
- 21:58Speaker 1: you can one hundred charge for vet bills, vaccinations. And
- 22:01Speaker 1: I'm also willing to give you money for the food
- 22:03Speaker 1: that you bought that she never sent you. So he
- 22:05Speaker 1: takes the three hundred and ninety eight dollars. He tacks
- 22:07Speaker 1: on a couple hundred more dollars. He said, I'll give
- 22:09Speaker 1: you all of that, but you got to give her
- 22:10Speaker 1: twenty five hundred dollars. Oh. Mia then says, what do
- 22:13Speaker 1: you mean. He goes, you stole her dog. You got
- 22:15Speaker 1: to give her the twenty five hundred dollars. Mia says,
- 22:18Speaker 1: so I get to keep the dog, right, And Judge
- 22:21Speaker 1: Mathis goes no, and he goes She says, you told
- 22:24Speaker 1: me I tried to charge her and keep the dog.
- 22:27Speaker 1: That's now what you're doing for her. And he says,
- 22:29Speaker 1: you're right. You have thirty days to give the dog
- 22:33Speaker 1: back or give the money. You can do either one. Oh,
- 22:36Speaker 1: I don't think. He said you can do either one.
- 22:37Speaker 1: You have thirty days to give the dog back or
- 22:39Speaker 1: you owe the money. So a lot like your case. Wow,
- 22:44Speaker 1: he didn't, like, I don't know what's going to happen
- 22:47Speaker 1: from here, he did. She just talk herself out of
- 22:51Speaker 1: having to pay the money she wanted. She got clarification.
- 22:54Speaker 1: At the very least, it was wild. It was a
- 22:56Speaker 1: wild case. It says, why we gabble, you know what
- 22:58Speaker 1: I mean? Yeah, that's interesting thing. That's a yeah, I
- 23:02Speaker 1: don't really know what to do with that. The lack
- 23:04Speaker 1: of evidence makes that case next to impossible to do.
- 23:07Speaker 1: It's really really tough. But I can tell you if
- 23:09Speaker 1: I was, and I have.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Less information than you because I can't I can't hear
- 23:13Speaker 2: the like a lot of this is watching them.
- 23:16Speaker 1: And watching these two women for the better part of
- 23:21Speaker 1: twenty minutes. I would say that that dog is much
- 23:25Speaker 1: healthier and much more loved in me as home than
- 23:29Speaker 1: in Anika's home, where it was probably a stuffed animal
- 23:33Speaker 1: for the children, and that the owner didn't care.
- 23:37Speaker 2: It could have made a I'm sorry me. It could
- 23:39Speaker 2: have made a really great case if she took pictures,
- 23:41Speaker 2: oh my god, she cut them like proving that this
- 23:44Speaker 2: dog was not well kept.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Or had some text being like, yes, you've abandoned your.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Dog, yes, like all of this could have easily been
- 23:51Speaker 2: a lot easier.
- 23:52Speaker 1: But she han't any of that and couldn't bring documentation.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Come on, come on, man, object we did. Everybody, Congratulations
- 23:59Speaker 1: to us.
- 23:59Speaker 2: I would like to propose, I would like to submit

- 24:04Speaker 2: we do it again.
