- 0:01Speaker 1: I'm not getting hold of muchee Friday. There were some
- 0:16Speaker 1: things that happened Friday while I was gone. Todd Father
- 0:19Speaker 1: wasn't there, and they need to be readdressed, Yes, readdressed.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Two notes in particular. Let's start with the Derby Todd Father.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Derby's getting a little refresh. It's kind of like what's
- 0:33Speaker 1: old is new? What do you think?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 0:36Speaker 3: I mean I love when people come and ask me that,
- 0:40Speaker 3: all the questions since I want it one time, I
- 0:42Speaker 3: did it a couple Listen, I don't know how it's
- 0:45Speaker 3: gonna be. I gotta be honest with you, just because
- 0:47Speaker 3: we've never done it before. Nobody understood and what was
- 0:50Speaker 3: going to happen in twenty fifteen when there was a
- 0:53Speaker 3: time and everybody's like, ah, man, this could be good.
- 0:58Speaker 3: It could be quicker, it could be it takes away
- 1:01Speaker 3: from the guys taking five six swings. It worked out
- 1:05Speaker 3: to be fantastic, and then they modified it a little bit,
- 1:07Speaker 3: cut down the time. It was exhausting. I mean, the
- 1:10Speaker 3: only thing I would say it was it was exhausting.
- 1:12Speaker 3: But ultimately, you know, since I won, I didn't really care,
- 1:17Speaker 3: So I did. I did a couple different ones you know,
- 1:21Speaker 3: I had the one where we had eight swings, and
- 1:23Speaker 3: now you know it's going to be the same ordeal,
- 1:27Speaker 3: but with twenty swings. I think, I don't know, I
- 1:31Speaker 3: just don't know. I'm intrigued. I'm very intrigued. I want
- 1:35Speaker 3: to see how.
- 1:36Speaker 1: You don't know we've done before though we did this,
- 1:40Speaker 1: we switched to the timers for you, we had the swings,
- 1:44Speaker 1: the swing off session. It's just it's been a long time,
- 1:46Speaker 1: but we used to do this, I.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Know, but it's all so it's I don't know.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I'm just I want to see how the players react.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I get it.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I don't remember twenty I mean there's never been twenty, right,
- 2:03Speaker 3: it was outs ten out out right.
- 2:05Speaker 1: So now is more reverting to that format right where
- 2:09Speaker 1: there's no clock.
- 2:11Speaker 3: So now you can take a deep breath, you can
- 2:13Speaker 3: take your time. Yeah, I think it's gonna be longer
- 2:16Speaker 3: in my opinion, but I still think it's gonna be fun.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I think it's gonna be great.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I still think puts a little more pressure to on
- 2:24Speaker 3: the guys as well, knowing this is the only you
- 2:26Speaker 3: only have this amount of swings to do it. Yeah,
- 2:29Speaker 3: we'll see, we'll see what happens. I'm in between on
- 2:32Speaker 3: it though, because I did like what we've been doing.
- 2:35Speaker 3: But it does give an advantage to one guy over
- 2:37Speaker 3: the other that gets an extra break.
- 2:39Speaker 2: But yeah, we'll see what happens.
- 2:41Speaker 1: You can spin at pitches. That's you know, more annoying
- 2:43Speaker 1: for the audience if you have to keep waiting because
- 2:45Speaker 1: you like to keep seeing guys go after baseballs. But
- 2:50Speaker 1: the part that I think was lacking was too many
- 2:54Speaker 1: baseballs flying around at a time right where you're there
- 2:59Speaker 1: in person, I thought was even tough. They both were tough.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You're watching on TV and you're like, oh, it's I
- 3:04Speaker 1: can't keep up with this when you're there. It's actually
- 3:07Speaker 1: tough to keep up with when you're there too because
- 3:09Speaker 1: it's so fast, so tough slim announce. Yeah, tough to
- 3:13Speaker 1: announce for sure. So at least for me, I didn't
- 3:16Speaker 1: get the comment yesterday. I'm like, you, Todd father got
- 3:19Speaker 1: to see what it looks like. But I'll take like
- 3:20Speaker 1: a little bit of this, slow it down to appreciate
- 3:24Speaker 1: the dingers.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know they I tried looking this up.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Nobody has been announced yet, right, or has anybody been
- 3:33Speaker 3: announcedcott to.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think so.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It's too early, not yet, but soon I would.
- 3:38Speaker 3: I've got a guy who i'd like to see in there,
- 3:40Speaker 3: who that probably nobody's really talking about. I like to
- 3:46Speaker 3: see Ben Rice getting that picture. I would love to
- 3:48Speaker 3: see his lefty swing at in Philadelphia. I think that
- 3:52Speaker 3: would be fantastic for him. But ultimately, he's having a
- 3:55Speaker 3: really great year. This is the good thing. Oh, well,
- 3:58Speaker 3: do you have to be an All Star?
- 3:59Speaker 2: No?
- 4:00Speaker 3: But I still think he should be an All Star.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Don't get me wrong. I think he's having a really
- 4:04Speaker 3: good year. But you know, does he want to Everybody's like, oh,
- 4:08Speaker 3: it's going to mess your swing up. I tell everybody
- 4:10Speaker 3: it doesn't mess your swing up. The last round of BP.
- 4:13Speaker 3: The last round of BP, everybody's trying to go deep
- 4:15Speaker 3: and hit a home run the last seven eight swings.
- 4:18Speaker 3: So if you stop doing that, then maybe you have
- 4:21Speaker 3: you know, you could talk about it. But yeah, I
- 4:24Speaker 3: would love to see Ben Rice get in there. I
- 4:26Speaker 3: think that'd be pretty cool.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Well, he should be an All Star and he should
- 4:30Speaker 1: get invited to the Derby And if you want more
- 4:32Speaker 1: on Derby talk, I mean, I'm with you. Will he
- 4:36Speaker 1: say yes? I don't know. But yeah, if you want
- 4:40Speaker 1: more on the derby from yesterday, Kratz and AJ covered it.
- 4:43Speaker 1: They also covered portions of the latest CBA proposal that
- 4:48Speaker 1: really does affect the game. We're not going to go
- 4:50Speaker 1: over money all day every day, but there are specific
- 4:53Speaker 1: rules that could be changing. Yesterday they went over some things.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I'll let's charge and I'll explain the rest charge about Okay,
- 5:02Speaker 1: So some of the keys that were covered in our
- 5:05Speaker 1: other segment or video if you're watching this afterward, were
- 5:07Speaker 1: AJ and Kratz covering the high schoolers not able to
- 5:12Speaker 1: get picked anymore if MLB's proposal went through. There were
- 5:15Speaker 1: a number of changes the international draft. I want to
- 5:20Speaker 1: take on some things that weren't covered in the part
- 5:23Speaker 1: one of what you guys went over Kratz, because there's
- 5:26Speaker 1: so much in this proposal, right, and you guys went
- 5:29Speaker 1: over how they would cut significant bonus money for players,
- 5:33Speaker 1: the age eligibility for international players would bump up. I
- 5:37Speaker 1: want to get to at least two things here. One
- 5:39Speaker 1: is actually great for the game if it gets executed,
- 5:43Speaker 1: and one is I think a telltale sign of the
- 5:48Speaker 1: difference between money and ethics in our sport. Stay tuned
- 5:52Speaker 1: on that one. Let's start with this. Did you guys
- 5:54Speaker 1: notice that draft picks were included in here for trades?
- 5:58Speaker 1: Trading draft picks in the domestic draft, picks could only
- 6:02Speaker 1: be dealt for the next upcoming draft. Twenty twenty eight
- 6:05Speaker 1: draft selection could only be traded after the twenty twenty
- 6:08Speaker 1: seven draft. In the proposed setup, teams can't deal away
- 6:11Speaker 1: first round picks in consecutive domestic drafts. They don't want
- 6:14Speaker 1: teams just unloading all of their draft But I'm just
- 6:16Speaker 1: even like, wait, we've gotten to maybe we would trade
- 6:19Speaker 1: draft picks because I was told for years that one
- 6:21Speaker 1: side didn't want that, even though all the fans want that.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Teams that can't acquire more than three additional selections within
- 6:26Speaker 1: the first three rounds of a given draft on top
- 6:28Speaker 1: of their original picks in those rounds. And then one
- 6:31Speaker 1: awful part of this was a proposal from MLB saying
- 6:35Speaker 1: they'd like to cut the lottery picks from six to four.
- 6:38Speaker 1: So the lottery was put in there, pushed hard by
- 6:40Speaker 1: the players, even though everyone should want that because you
- 6:43Speaker 1: don't want tanking. So if you're cutting it from six
- 6:45Speaker 1: to four, you're going the wrong direction. In my mind,
- 6:49Speaker 1: and then for the International Draft, most picks could be traded,
- 6:51Speaker 1: but the league says there will be certain limitations. So
- 6:54Speaker 1: these are just proposals crats. But for me, I just
- 6:56Speaker 1: want to look at the big part. We now know
- 6:59Speaker 1: on the table that trading draft picks is okay. It's
- 7:01Speaker 1: not going to hurt our sport.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:03Speaker 1: MLB is saying it's okay, and they're putting it out
- 7:05Speaker 1: there because for me, I don't care what either side wants.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I care what we want, and what we want is
- 7:09Speaker 1: to be able to talk about teams making more trades
- 7:12Speaker 1: and draft picks help that.
- 7:16Speaker 2: No, I don't I don't agree.
- 7:17Speaker 4: I don't agree. I think trading a draft pick is
- 7:20Speaker 4: trading a lottery ticket. Like, hey, you know what, you
- 7:23Speaker 4: have a lot of a ticket. I have a lottery ticket.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Now if you scratch off a lot of a ticket
- 7:27Speaker 4: and you're like, WHOA, that's a winner, Okay, I'll trade
- 7:29Speaker 4: you with that one. You don't know. I think I
- 7:32Speaker 4: think there's more. I think there's less intrigue in trading
- 7:36Speaker 4: a lottery or trading a draft pick in baseball than
- 7:41Speaker 4: in other sports.
- 7:43Speaker 1: So, just to be clear, you don't want to trade
- 7:45Speaker 1: draft picks.
- 7:46Speaker 2: No need to, no need to stronger, don't. I don't
- 7:51Speaker 2: think it's a bad thing. I don't.
- 7:56Speaker 4: I think it's as eyewash.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but it helps to promote trades. Right now, you
- 7:59Speaker 1: can trade your comp picks, right, uh, Todd Father like
- 8:02Speaker 1: team get compensation picks for like where they are in
- 8:04Speaker 1: revenue sharing and all of that. I think if you
- 8:07Speaker 1: want to try and put a limitation on it, we
- 8:09Speaker 1: can talk about that. But being able to trade your pick,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I think should be the right of a team, and
- 8:13Speaker 1: I think it would create more intrigue around the draft too.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:17Speaker 1: You could have the draft coming up and then all
- 8:18Speaker 1: of a sudden, the team picks trades their first round
- 8:20Speaker 1: pick for a big player, and it kind of sparks
- 8:23Speaker 1: the trade deadline a little bit sooner too, because you
- 8:25Speaker 1: have to make a call. No, you don't think any
- 8:26Speaker 1: of that's cool.
- 8:28Speaker 4: I mean, you trade your first first round pick. So
- 8:30Speaker 4: what's the value of a first round pick to the
- 8:33Speaker 4: analytical front offices?
- 8:34Speaker 2: Would be?
- 8:35Speaker 4: My question?
- 8:36Speaker 2: Is that?
- 8:36Speaker 4: Fine?
- 8:37Speaker 2: Yes?
- 8:37Speaker 4: But I want my team to get somebody at least
- 8:39Speaker 4: a little bit closer. Give me, give me like like
- 8:42Speaker 4: if you have if you have Mason Miller. That was
- 8:44Speaker 4: a trade that just happened last year. Yeah, I get it,
- 8:46Speaker 4: a J Peler. They're in the playoffs, they're gonna go
- 8:48Speaker 4: ahead and trade their first round pick for Mason Miller. Okay,
- 8:52Speaker 4: well he's farther away than Debreeze is. He's farther away
- 8:56Speaker 4: than to me. The draft in baseball is not the
- 9:01Speaker 4: as other sports, and so when teams, yes, they have
- 9:04Speaker 4: that value, but that value is very like I don't know,
- 9:08Speaker 4: I don't know who's how somebody's going to payan out
- 9:12Speaker 4: in the pit with that pick, no matter where you're
- 9:15Speaker 4: picking in the first fifteen picks or in the fifteen
- 9:18Speaker 4: to thirty picks.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, go ahead, Scott, I got you.
- 9:25Speaker 1: No, no, no, you're good.
- 9:27Speaker 2: You know.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I think it's different now just because there's twenty rounds
- 9:32Speaker 3: and I think each round now is pretty huge. And
- 9:36Speaker 3: if you're going to trade a draft pick, a first
- 9:39Speaker 3: round pick, second or third, you know, one of those
- 9:41Speaker 3: top picks, you know, not only are they spending more
- 9:44Speaker 3: money too as well, but they're getting more top you know,
- 9:48Speaker 3: baseball players too. I find it very intriguing. I find
- 9:51Speaker 3: it very intriguing. I find it if they really want
- 9:55Speaker 3: somebody and they think this guy. Yeah, like a Mason Miller, like,
- 9:58Speaker 3: hey man, we'll get We'll give you, you know, our
- 10:01Speaker 3: number one pick for next year or whatever, or number
- 10:05Speaker 3: two and then what that would be a big big
- 10:08Speaker 3: thing for me. That's like training away two top prospects
- 10:11Speaker 3: for me. So I feel like that kind of package
- 10:14Speaker 3: for you know, you know, their top pick or whatever
- 10:17Speaker 3: can bode well with saving players too as well. So
- 10:21Speaker 3: it's very intriguing. It's very intriguing. Every other team, every
- 10:24Speaker 3: other team does it have sports time.
- 10:26Speaker 4: You're you're saying, you're saying you would rather as a team,
- 10:29Speaker 4: you would rather see your team if you had a
- 10:31Speaker 4: team get get one draft pick in the first round
- 10:37Speaker 4: rather than getting two prop top prospects from a team.
- 10:42Speaker 2: That's the intriguing part. Bro. I don't know, it's intriguing
- 10:46Speaker 2: because it just depends on who you are and what
- 10:49Speaker 2: you want in your your club.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Yeah, pick your own guy.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's it's a hard decision, but I think
- 10:57Speaker 3: it makes it very interesting for the fan and for
- 11:00Speaker 3: you know, your team, who you room for.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and also teams fall in love with who they pick.
- 11:04Speaker 1: So this I think would help spur more trades because
- 11:07Speaker 1: you're less attached to a pick that you don't have yet. Yeah,
- 11:12Speaker 1: Patrick Bailey a couple months ago.
- 11:13Speaker 3: You cannot like it. But at the same time, oh,
- 11:18Speaker 3: if you're giving Way a first or second round pick
- 11:20Speaker 3: for somebody, oh maybe, well you must be on board
- 11:24Speaker 3: big time. And there's gonna be some fans that are
- 11:26Speaker 3: liking it and a lot that don't, So yeah, welcome.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Good fans can conceptionalize picks too, like, oh, we're trading
- 11:34Speaker 1: our first round pick. This guy better be good. Good debate,
- 11:37Speaker 1: that's what's good debate. Very I want I've always been
- 11:41Speaker 1: big on this. There's no reason why we shouldn't be
- 11:43Speaker 1: able to trade picks. You want to put some limitations,
- 11:45Speaker 1: we can talk, but it is important. I think every
- 11:48Speaker 1: league gets sparked more. And I think we've gotten a
- 11:51Speaker 1: little soft as a sport with trades sometimes because everyone's
- 11:53Speaker 1: so scared. So if you give more assets, I think
- 11:55Speaker 1: it helps to just spur more trades. No, I value
- 11:58Speaker 1: this prospect differently. You're right, everyone's going to be able
- 12:01Speaker 1: to value picks very similarly versus prospects. Right, you might
- 12:06Speaker 1: think one prospects the next big thing and the other
- 12:08Speaker 1: team doesn't. Whatever it is, the debate on a pick
- 12:11Speaker 1: will be easier to justify for a trade. I just
- 12:13Speaker 1: think it'll create more trades, and that's all I care
- 12:15Speaker 1: about in this scenario. It's not going to hurt anyone.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I think it's only going to help the league. Part
- 12:20Speaker 1: two of this discussion super important related to the international
- 12:24Speaker 1: Draft and what can be done to fix significant crime
- 12:29Speaker 1: going on in some Latin American countries with young kids
- 12:32Speaker 1: that don't deserve it. Stay tuned on that front. Will
- 12:35Speaker 1: cover it later. Support for today's episode comes from Square,
- 12:38Speaker 1: and they've got big news. During squares biannual Releases event,

- 12:43Speaker 1: local businesses run faster, smarter, and more profitably. Square is awesome.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Around Orlando, where AJ and I live, we go to

- 13:33Speaker 1: smarter with Square. Get started today. Here's the last layer
- 13:38Speaker 1: I want to get to today. MLB proposed to work
- 13:41Speaker 1: with the Dominican Republic government on player protections. So you
- 13:46Speaker 1: can read many incredible articles, including a recent one from
- 13:50Speaker 1: Alding Gonzalez on a child who actually died and was
- 13:54Speaker 1: being given steroids and paraphrasing a little bit here and
- 13:57Speaker 1: died from this right there is complete control from what's
- 13:59Speaker 1: called buscones. They're trainers down there, but they're really like
- 14:02Speaker 1: loan sharky trainers. It is like a criminal web that
- 14:06Speaker 1: is wild, and it is also sparked by teams that
- 14:10Speaker 1: have people down in places like the dr that are
- 14:13Speaker 1: paying these buscones right and controlling all of it. MLB
- 14:17Speaker 1: has not done much about this. They can say they have,
- 14:19Speaker 1: but there's no way they're going to prove that they've
- 14:21Speaker 1: done much. And in fact, you can go to a
- 14:22Speaker 1: recent quote from Rob Manfred who said when he was
- 14:25Speaker 1: asked like, why are you guys, you know, not pressing
- 14:28Speaker 1: down harder on this? He said, yeah, but who's taking
- 14:31Speaker 1: the check?
- 14:32Speaker 2: Right?
- 14:32Speaker 1: So it's not about the drug dealers, it's about those
- 14:34Speaker 1: that are using It doesn't matter deal away. Okay, So
- 14:38Speaker 1: this is what they proposed, a code of conduct for
- 14:42Speaker 1: independent trainers with appropriate penalties. Great the prohibition of any
- 14:47Speaker 1: individual or firm from purchasing an interest in the player's
- 14:50Speaker 1: future signing bonus or salary, or having a player or
- 14:53Speaker 1: his family money with the player's future signing bonuster comp
- 14:55Speaker 1: as collater as collateral. Great down there, No, no, no, Kratz.
- 14:58Speaker 1: This has to do it down there. They have loan
- 15:00Speaker 1: sharks down there that'll be like I'm going to give
- 15:02Speaker 1: you five cents and you give me eighty percent of
- 15:05Speaker 1: your salary. This is not the places that are more
- 15:08Speaker 1: sec approved and all of that in the US that
- 15:11Speaker 1: are like, oh, i'll give you a million bucks for
- 15:12Speaker 1: five percent. This is like loan sharks taking all of
- 15:15Speaker 1: their money, which is what the Piscones do too. Okay,
- 15:18Speaker 1: a few more that They proposed implementation of a lifetime
- 15:21Speaker 1: ban from the baseball industry and criminal penalties for any
- 15:23Speaker 1: person who provides performance enhancing substances to a player. This
- 15:27Speaker 1: is all in the Dominican Republic. This is like ten
- 15:29Speaker 1: eleven twelve year olds people sometimes that are dealing with
- 15:32Speaker 1: this stuff down there. It is insane criminal activity that
- 15:35Speaker 1: is going on. That's been a problem for a long time.
- 15:37Speaker 1: An MLB's answer has been we need an international draft.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Hold on one more and then we'll get to this.
- 15:41Speaker 1: A requirement that players who reside in an independent trainer
- 15:44Speaker 1: academy prior to age eighteen must remain enrolled in an
- 15:47Speaker 1: education program. Okay, so there's four things they put out there.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Now tell me, let's do some really simple math hereocrats
- 15:55Speaker 1: tell me why those four things could not have been
- 15:57Speaker 1: implemented for the past twenty years. One reason, Okay, I'm
- 16:02Speaker 1: going to preface this so there's no bias on for
- 16:04Speaker 1: I think we should have an international draft one day.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I actually think that's fine. As a fan, I'm good,
- 16:09Speaker 1: I'm in. I'm in on an international draft. The whole
- 16:12Speaker 1: point of this, though, is this has nothing to do
- 16:14Speaker 1: with an international draft. This is basically MLB saying we're
- 16:17Speaker 1: not going to crack down on something that is creating
- 16:20Speaker 1: significant criminal activity in the Dominican Republic because we don't
- 16:24Speaker 1: get the way we want, so we're gonna let it
- 16:25Speaker 1: crash and burn. Meanwhile, what happens, Kids get abused, kids die, Right,
- 16:29Speaker 1: we had a kid who literally died from being forced
- 16:31Speaker 1: to take start right, what are we doing?
- 16:35Speaker 4: It has been something that I have ever since I
- 16:38Speaker 4: heard in twenty twelve, I heard Mariano Rivera speak on this,
- 16:41Speaker 4: speak on the fact that, yes, everybody knows who Mariano
- 16:44Speaker 4: Rivera is. At the time, everybody knew who Robinson Cano was,
- 16:48Speaker 4: and he named other Latin players that came from Latin countries,
- 16:52Speaker 4: not just as dr but from Latin countries and are
- 16:56Speaker 4: playing in the big leagues. He's like, everybody knows them.
- 16:59Speaker 4: There's that many times ten that are at these boastcons
- 17:03Speaker 4: at these training facilities. It's the Dominicans type of like
- 17:09Speaker 4: go live at baseball camp is essentially what it would
- 17:12Speaker 4: be like, except it's essentially child human trafficking by these
- 17:18Speaker 4: Bostcans because Major League Baseball has turned a blind eye
- 17:21Speaker 4: to it. He's turned a blind eye to it. People
- 17:24Speaker 4: probably remember the video of me crying talking about different
- 17:30Speaker 4: Latin players that come what they come from, and when
- 17:32Speaker 4: you talk to them, is it's a travesty because I'm
- 17:37Speaker 4: talking to the guys that are in tripa in the
- 17:39Speaker 4: big leagues, not the guys that never made it, who
- 17:42Speaker 4: were sixteen years old. And most people don't get done
- 17:46Speaker 4: growing at sixteen years old but haven't had any schooling
- 17:50Speaker 4: for the last two years, don't get picked by a team,
- 17:53Speaker 4: and these boast goans just push them back out into
- 17:57Speaker 4: the street, send them back to their family, and they
- 18:00Speaker 4: leave with less safety, they leave with less health, and
- 18:04Speaker 4: they leave with zero education. For the majority of these
- 18:08Speaker 4: there are some that are high quality, but the majority
- 18:12Speaker 4: of them, these kids have gone to possibly four years
- 18:15Speaker 4: without any schooling, and Major League Baseball has turned a
- 18:17Speaker 4: blind eye to it. The players associations tried their best,
- 18:21Speaker 4: but Major League Baseball's turn a blind eye to it
- 18:24Speaker 4: because they say, well, how can we regulate it?
- 18:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think that's the hardest part getting school,
- 18:33Speaker 3: getting education fantastic playing baseball, absolutely fantastic. Combine those two
- 18:41Speaker 3: things together. There shouldn't be anything else after that. It
- 18:45Speaker 3: should be about the kids that I mean, the DOMNI,
- 18:47Speaker 3: the DR has some of the best baseball players to
- 18:50Speaker 3: ever play this game. Let's just keep on building on
- 18:53Speaker 3: that and making these kids better each day, day in
- 18:56Speaker 3: and day out. Give them a good little education. I
- 18:58Speaker 3: know it's harder, you know. I know it's much more difficult.
- 19:03Speaker 3: You know where they are and the circumstances and everything.
- 19:06Speaker 3: But if you can give them an opportunity to further
- 19:09Speaker 3: themselves in baseball the right way, I think we're going
- 19:12Speaker 3: to be better off.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Yeah, And just to conclude, I'm for a draft internationally.
- 19:20Speaker 1: If they can get it all right and make it
- 19:21Speaker 1: make sense. I think that does make sense. But it
- 19:24Speaker 1: has nothing to do with what was put out there
- 19:26Speaker 1: when they say there's nothing we can do to regulate, No,
- 19:29Speaker 1: there are things you can do. You literally just told
- 19:31Speaker 1: us in public that you're holding them back to get
- 19:34Speaker 1: more money. That to me is where it crosses the
- 19:37Speaker 1: line and it pisses me off. So we can spend
- 19:40Speaker 1: much more time on this. It's just proposals. So I
- 19:42Speaker 1: don't want to go too deep. Most of this that's
- 19:44Speaker 1: never going to happen, but just wanted to throw it
- 19:46Speaker 1: out there for you to.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Good words, guys, stop changing baseball except for this, No,
- 19:52Speaker 3: except for this, But this.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Is this is probably the number one problem in the
- 19:56Speaker 1: entire sport for humanity. Forget everything else, literally humanity. That's
- 20:01Speaker 1: the thing that gets me going.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Besides this, baseball is very good where it's at right now.
- 20:08Speaker 3: We don't need to change anything with the sword alone.
- 20:11Speaker 3: It's been. The fans love it, it's quicker. The rules
- 20:15Speaker 3: are actually really good in helping the sport. MLB slow down. Man,
- 20:19Speaker 3: it's been. It's very good. We don't need anything else.
- 20:22Speaker 3: We don't need a lockout. Let's keep it rolling.
- 20:24Speaker 4: And it's a travesty. It's a travesty. We have to
- 20:26Speaker 4: wait till December twod to like talk about negotiations with this,
- 20:31Speaker 4: Like this is something that Major League Baseball could start
- 20:33Speaker 4: right now and save people's livelihood. Just getting an education
- 20:38Speaker 4: anywhere in the United States in the Dominican will better
- 20:42Speaker 4: your future. So the fact that Major League Baseball wants
- 20:45Speaker 4: this to be negotiated feels like it's very like how
- 20:51Speaker 4: could the players not agree to this. We are willing
- 20:53Speaker 4: to help people. You can help people right now. You
- 20:57Speaker 4: are benefiting from the commodity as you're looking at it
- 21:01Speaker 4: that a player is and you're not willing to make
- 21:05Speaker 4: sure these buscons aren't taking twenty thirty percent of future
- 21:09Speaker 4: signing bonus or I'm saying based on numbers that I've
- 21:14Speaker 4: seen of star players that take that money, and then
- 21:19Speaker 4: that doesn't even mean like I'll even push those guys aside.
- 21:23Speaker 4: They're taking that money. It's the kids that are being fed,
- 21:28Speaker 4: like barely fed, played baseball, not picked, and now pushed
- 21:32Speaker 4: back out into a country that those kids could have
- 21:35Speaker 4: been educated during that time, those kids could have been
- 21:38Speaker 4: furthered their lives because most people don't make it to
- 21:40Speaker 4: the big leagues. That's the reality of the big leagues.
- 21:42Speaker 4: No matter how many picks we have or rounds we have,
- 21:46Speaker 4: you don't make it. It's hard to make it. And
- 21:48Speaker 4: so for major leaue Baseball turn a blind eye to
- 21:50Speaker 4: what's going on down there is a Travis steedamit?
- 21:54Speaker 2: Yep?
- 21:54Speaker 1: We can all conclude that we all need to do
- 21:56Speaker 1: better down there and work on that. So we'll talk
- 21:59Speaker 1: more about it. I'm sure in the off season. Let's
- 22:01Speaker 1: get back to ball, all right, Let's hit a couple
- 22:08Speaker 1: of minutes of injury suck. Mike Trout to the injured list,
- 22:11Speaker 1: announced yesterday with Sam Blum and Ken Rosenthal. It's a
- 22:14Speaker 1: hamstring injury. And then I saw the sound. He was
- 22:17Speaker 1: very positive, Todd Father. I mean he said already, like
- 22:20Speaker 1: a day later, he felt significantly better. They're still going
- 22:24Speaker 1: to be careful, of course. Rat Bolinger posting that Mike
- 22:27Speaker 1: Trout said he injured it running the first base in
- 22:30Speaker 1: the eighth inning. It's the right hamstring. Already feels much
- 22:33Speaker 1: better than yesterday. He's hopeful it'll be a short stint
- 22:35Speaker 1: on the injured list, but no timeline, and people were
- 22:39Speaker 1: really looking forward to seeing Trout back at the All
- 22:41Speaker 1: Star Game. Todd, And this doesn't eliminate that, right, We're
- 22:44Speaker 1: still about a month away, but it makes it tougher
- 22:49Speaker 1: to pull that off depending on the timeline here.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it isn't funny that him and Gresham
- 22:57Speaker 3: are the Yankees, both had hamstring's injuries, and nice that
- 23:00Speaker 3: both the next day that they felt better already. I
- 23:05Speaker 3: wish that could happen to me when I get injuries.
- 23:07Speaker 3: So it's like hamstrings are very particular. You got to
- 23:12Speaker 3: be very careful with it. I hope both of them
- 23:16Speaker 3: are right in saying that and they come back in
- 23:18Speaker 3: with the fifteen days or whatever it is the minimum.
- 23:21Speaker 3: This stinks because he was having a good year. You know,
- 23:23Speaker 3: the Angels aren't doing so well. But it was great
- 23:25Speaker 3: to see him play a lot, and they were moving
- 23:28Speaker 3: him around to make sure he could play a lot
- 23:30Speaker 3: and get at d H here and there. But yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 3: this just it makes you sad because people love him,
- 23:37Speaker 3: people want to see him play, and right now they're
- 23:40Speaker 3: not going to see him play for a couple of weeks.
- 23:42Speaker 3: So hopefully it's just a little bit. It's something that
- 23:46Speaker 3: he can either play through or heal up quickly and
- 23:49Speaker 3: we can get him back on the field, because that
- 23:51Speaker 3: would be awesome for him to play in Philadelphia in
- 23:54Speaker 3: front of pretty much everybody that he lives by, which is,
- 23:58Speaker 3: you know, within a half hour radius, would be really nice.
- 24:01Speaker 4: They don't even have enough tickets allotted half of South
- 24:04Speaker 4: Jersey to make it to the All Star Game in Philly.
- 24:07Speaker 4: It's a home game for Todd, for old Tod fathers
- 24:10Speaker 4: good buddy. But now, like it really seems like his
- 24:16Speaker 4: mannerisms when he was talking about it were different than
- 24:18Speaker 4: his other injuries, so it was good to see that.
- 24:22Speaker 4: It seems very positive. Other times it was more like
- 24:26Speaker 4: this one seems like, Okay, I think I'll be fine.
- 24:30Speaker 4: You know, maybe I need a little bit more than
- 24:32Speaker 4: ten days. That's what I'm hoping for. Because he's having
- 24:35Speaker 4: a great year. I think he's leading the league and
- 24:36Speaker 4: runs score this year.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Crazy, he's been great. Traut's been great, and I know
- 24:43Speaker 1: we talk about it all the time, but it just
- 24:47Speaker 1: would have been cool to see if something can get
- 24:50Speaker 1: pulled off to ship him elsewhere. I mean, he's just
- 24:53Speaker 1: he's getting deep into the career. Like it's true, you
- 24:56Speaker 1: just want to see him play on a spot that's
- 24:58Speaker 1: got a playoff chance. It's no knock on anything, it's
- 25:02Speaker 1: just it's the facts. But this will probably prevent that.
- 25:05Speaker 1: That's the thing. I mean, the chances were already super slim,
- 25:10Speaker 1: but we can essentially eliminate that. No, you don't think so.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I mean, he's going to make some time here. It's
- 25:15Speaker 1: going to make it very difficult for a team to
- 25:17Speaker 1: pick him up at the deadline here. I know it's
- 25:19Speaker 1: already complicated with the no trade and with the money
- 25:22Speaker 1: and with Ardie Marino wanting to sell tickets and all that,
- 25:25Speaker 1: But there was at least a slight sliver that it
- 25:28Speaker 1: could happen. And now it's close to nothing unless he's
- 25:31Speaker 1: back in a couple of weeks or less. And maybe
- 25:34Speaker 1: maybe it's a minimum stint. I don't know off the
- 25:36Speaker 1: top of my head, guys, but Hammy, you're usually looking
- 25:39Speaker 1: at at least a few weeks.
- 25:40Speaker 3: No, I'd say, so, it's one of those all even
- 25:46Speaker 3: if it was the slightest you know, you know what
- 25:50Speaker 3: grade one, two or three.
- 25:51Speaker 2: If it's like a low one, I.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Still think or whatever, I still think you need at
- 25:57Speaker 3: least a couple of weeks to simmer it down with
- 26:00Speaker 3: ice and stem and massage therapy, all that kind of stuff,
- 26:04Speaker 3: and then you got to ramp kind of ramp it
- 26:05Speaker 3: up to get back in game shape. Two weeks fifteen,
- 26:09Speaker 3: you know how many days it's going to take off
- 26:11Speaker 3: before running, you know.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Yeah, And it's one of those injuries where you can
- 26:15Speaker 1: come back early and then it becomes more of a problem.
- 26:18Speaker 1: So you just got to be careful with with Trouty
- 26:21Speaker 1: and what's gone on there. I mean, hey, I don't
- 26:23Speaker 1: know the case.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Yeah, would have been ahead of time for a home
- 26:28Speaker 3: run derby for Mike Trout in Philadelphia too, I don't know.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I agree. Now we're not going to get to see it. Yeah,
- 26:34Speaker 1: it's the bummer. Yeah, I mean, he's got a hammy
- 26:37Speaker 1: barking right now, and he came back and then now
- 26:39Speaker 1: he's out for a while and it's the same one there.
- 26:42Speaker 1: So not that it's the same guy, but you gotta
- 26:45Speaker 1: be careful when you're coming back from those. There's a
- 26:46Speaker 1: few hammy calf is up there where it takes more
- 26:50Speaker 1: time than you'd like it to take, even if it
- 26:52Speaker 1: feels like it's okay. Next up a Doley scarcia surgery.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Officially done for the season six to eight months, expected
- 27:00Speaker 1: to be ready for twenty twenty seven. Now Kratz, as
- 27:03Speaker 1: far as hurting the team on the short term, it's
- 27:06Speaker 1: not a killer. He was not hitting. He plays a
- 27:10Speaker 1: really nice outfield, he's got a good arm. Maybe he
- 27:12Speaker 1: would find fire, but this is not the twenty twenty
- 27:14Speaker 1: three monster with the Rangers that was helping lead them
- 27:17Speaker 1: to a World Series. So like awful for the player,
- 27:20Speaker 1: for the team, the Phillies are going to get one
- 27:22Speaker 1: or two outfielders anyway, like that's a thing on their list.
- 27:27Speaker 4: It's a little bit more. It's a little bit easier
- 27:29Speaker 4: to replace his defense. While he was he was part
- 27:33Speaker 4: of the reason that some of these starring pitchers had
- 27:35Speaker 4: good eras. It's because you have outfielders who are keeping
- 27:38Speaker 4: guys at first base, posing them at second, you know,
- 27:41Speaker 4: getting me out at home. I just yeah, I ten
- 27:46Speaker 4: million dollars for him, I think like eighteen for Nick.
- 27:49Speaker 4: So they already got twenty eight million in right field
- 27:51Speaker 4: and aren't going to play any more games this season.
- 27:54Speaker 4: It'll be interesting to see what they do and how
- 27:57Speaker 4: they can replace it.
- 28:00Speaker 3: This stinks. I love the guy. I played with him
- 28:04Speaker 3: with the Rangers. Just fantastic human being. Man, smile always
- 28:08Speaker 3: on his face, so gracious and happy to be on
- 28:10Speaker 3: the field. You know, like you said, he's not there,
- 28:13Speaker 3: but at the same time, he's a presence still at
- 28:17Speaker 3: the end of the day, you got to respect his game.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Remember Adolice Garcia and Evan Carter massive massive parts of
- 28:24Speaker 1: the twenty twenty three World Series champion Texas Rangers. It's
- 28:28Speaker 1: just crazy to look at those guys and then see
- 28:31Speaker 1: what's been done since then. You know, you haven't seen
- 28:35Speaker 1: much from Carter. Unfortunately. He was promising prospect, but you
- 28:39Speaker 1: know he's gotten hurt a lot and the productivity hasn't
- 28:42Speaker 1: been there when he's playing. And then yeah, Garcia's bat
- 28:45Speaker 1: fell off pretty soon after that. Great dude, fun guy
- 28:48Speaker 1: to watch. He's huge, he's got a big arm, right like,
- 28:52Speaker 1: he's toolsy, and he took over the postseason.
- 28:55Speaker 4: At types you're saying, you're saying that like they caught
- 28:59Speaker 4: lightning in a bottle in Texas.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Is that what you're saying? Maybe?
- 29:04Speaker 4: Wait, wait, no, wait dad, that's not that doesn't sound
- 29:08Speaker 4: like it's right, Like they made a move for Jordan
- 29:10Speaker 4: Montgomery that Wait a minute, so they still won a
- 29:14Speaker 4: World Series championship and I shouldn't try that.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Or all this Chapman too. Well, no, you know what.
- 29:24Speaker 1: This goes back to our conversation with Ken Rosenthal where
- 29:27Speaker 1: he's got teams saying that if they get a buye,
- 29:30Speaker 1: then they're more likely to trade for school. It's funny,
- 29:34Speaker 1: you remember the first year or two of the bye
- 29:36Speaker 1: teams were like, oh, I don't know, it might actually
- 29:38Speaker 1: hurt us. Now it's like, well, our percentage chances do increase,
- 29:42Speaker 1: and if we don't have a likelihood of a buye,
- 29:45Speaker 1: then we're not as interested in Schooble. I'm like, but
- 29:49Speaker 1: you could win the World Series as a wildcard, you
- 29:52Speaker 1: also need to get to the playoffs, and I don't know,
- 29:55Speaker 1: Trek Schoogle for August and September, winning you a few
- 29:59Speaker 1: extra games could be the difference. So I hope just
- 30:02Speaker 1: for that, I hope a team like the Orioles trades
- 30:07Speaker 1: for him. You know, some team that's like on a
- 30:09Speaker 1: fringe wild card situation. Obviously it would get it would
- 30:12Speaker 1: risk that he doesn't pitch in the playoffs, but I
- 30:13Speaker 1: hope they do and he freaking shoves and then they
- 30:16Speaker 1: make it to the playoffs and then you get to say,
- 30:18Speaker 1: you know what, that actually helped you get to the playoffs,
- 30:20Speaker 1: which is a huge difference, and then move on and
- 30:23Speaker 1: that could also save the job for a GM, right
- 30:28Speaker 1: and specifically, if we're using this example for Baltimore, like
- 30:31Speaker 1: they missed the playoffs last year, you miss you missed
- 30:34Speaker 1: the playoffs again, questions pop up, I've never.
- 30:38Speaker 4: Seen it have a successful season, and people are like,
- 30:41Speaker 4: we're we're done with that. That wasn't a good move
- 30:44Speaker 4: to get Google and take us to Game six of
- 30:48Speaker 4: the World Series. Dumb idea, we should never continue to
- 30:51Speaker 4: hire you.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Well, it's the same thing that I mean, Jed Hoyer
- 30:55Speaker 1: has done a nice job, but it bothers me to
- 30:57Speaker 1: publicly say like, we're not doing We're not going to
- 30:59Speaker 1: go hard unless we have like a bye like what
- 31:03Speaker 1: I mean, Hey, I get it, the Cubs are not
- 31:05Speaker 1: playing great ball, but that's just a it's a loser mentality.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I just I don't like the way that that's described.
- 31:10Speaker 1: You want to push your players and say, hey, we're
- 31:12Speaker 1: not going to do as much as you think if
- 31:14Speaker 1: our players don't put it together. But the bye week
- 31:16Speaker 1: percentage stuff, to me, that gets back to like the
- 31:19Speaker 1: fifty four percent stuff with the Mariners days back, and
- 31:21Speaker 1: they eventually learned that that's stupid and we should just
- 31:24Speaker 1: acquire guys like Naylor and oh look, they were five
- 31:26Speaker 1: seconds from or one bad decision late in the game
- 31:29Speaker 1: to use to not use their closer from maybe being
- 31:32Speaker 1: in the World Series last year.
- 31:34Speaker 4: So it's a sheet metal just they're just they're just
- 31:39Speaker 4: they're just going along with the whole crowd. Oh bad.
- 31:42Speaker 4: And then somebody comes along and is like, now I'm
- 31:44Speaker 4: the big bad wolf. I'm gonna kill all these fools
- 31:47Speaker 4: because they're all look the same.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Dombrowski did that in many different stops, being like, you
- 31:54Speaker 1: guys are soft. You're not going hard enough.
- 31:56Speaker 2: See it, Prower.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Eventually, if you save up all your money, you die
- 32:02Speaker 1: and then you don't use it. I know that's morbid,
- 32:04Speaker 1: but Happy Fridayit hot corner with over thirty five million downloads.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Seakeeek is the number one rated ticketing app and crats.
- 32:12Speaker 1: There are many many baseball games on the inventory to
- 32:16Speaker 1: check out all summer long. This is the season now,
- 32:19Speaker 1: it is baseball baseball season. Not many other options for
- 32:22Speaker 1: you sports wise. I know you can go anywhere you
- 32:24Speaker 1: want to go with seakeek. There's so many tickets to
- 32:26Speaker 1: choose from, but baseball center stage.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Now.
- 32:28Speaker 4: For the next couple months, school's out, I'm going to
- 32:32Speaker 4: watch some baseball games, some big league games, all in
- 32:34Speaker 4: my area, and I want to know exactly what it
- 32:36Speaker 4: looks like. And I also want the best deal, so
- 32:39Speaker 4: I'm looking for the green, not the red.
- 32:41Speaker 2: That's right.

- 33:05Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 33:06Speaker 1: See Geek god Father tis This season, we talk trades,
- 33:16Speaker 1: and the media asks players about trades. So Dan Hayes
- 33:20Speaker 1: posted this. It's all a fantastic host to hold this
- 33:23Speaker 1: up for a moment on Twin Cities Territory and for
- 33:27Speaker 1: the trade talk, Byron Buxton was asked. He said, quote,
- 33:31Speaker 1: I don't give a foo. I ain't said nothing about leaving,
- 33:34Speaker 1: nor will I. I'm a twin Let's get into it.
- 33:41Speaker 1: He was basically saying, no, I'm not trying to go.
- 33:44Speaker 1: I'm not trying to go. But the thing that I
- 33:46Speaker 1: do want to get more out of Byron is you're
- 33:50Speaker 1: not requesting a trade. You like where you're at, but
- 33:52Speaker 1: you do have a no trade clause, so you do
- 33:55Speaker 1: control your own destiny and what I want to know,
- 33:57Speaker 1: is push comes to shove. If the twin Wins are
- 34:00Speaker 1: six and a half, seven games out of a playoff spot,
- 34:03Speaker 1: come trade deadline and the Twins are getting some offers
- 34:06Speaker 1: for a guy who's one of the top players in
- 34:07Speaker 1: the sport right now, quietly, would you say, yes, that's
- 34:12Speaker 1: what everyone wants to know. We want to know because
- 34:14Speaker 1: we want to know are we talking about him? Because
- 34:16Speaker 1: he could come out and just say I have it.
- 34:18Speaker 1: He's done this in the past. We didn't do it
- 34:19Speaker 1: yet I have a no trade cause under no circumstances
- 34:23Speaker 1: will I waive it. He has not said that.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Well, I mean, as as brass of the Twins, they're
- 34:29Speaker 3: gonna if somebody comes to him, they're definitely going to
- 34:33Speaker 3: ask them, hey, this is what we got.
- 34:34Speaker 2: What do you think? And every trade that they're trying
- 34:37Speaker 2: to get done.
- 34:38Speaker 3: But maybe he loves it there Like listen, there's there's
- 34:41Speaker 3: two different sides. Maybe he's saying this knowing and letting
- 34:44Speaker 3: everybody know that he wants to be a Twin for life,
- 34:47Speaker 3: or maybe he's saying that so he doesn't get in
- 34:49Speaker 3: trouble and then eventually when something comes he's like, well,
- 34:53Speaker 3: now the trade has common.
- 34:54Speaker 2: I'm going to wave my no trade clause.
- 34:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it's an opportunity to go to a team team.
- 35:00Speaker 3: I wouldn't just go just for a team that's not contending.
- 35:03Speaker 3: So you know, if one team is a beast of
- 35:06Speaker 3: a team, and he knows, you know, sometimes guys the
- 35:09Speaker 3: gress isn't always greener on the other side, Let's put
- 35:11Speaker 3: it that way. So for him, he has to really,
- 35:14Speaker 3: you know, sit down, talk with his team and go
- 35:17Speaker 3: over that once something does come along the way, and
- 35:19Speaker 3: we'll see what he wants to do.
- 35:21Speaker 1: I don't think the Twins are going to trade him
- 35:23Speaker 1: because I like to study ownership and quotes. There is
- 35:28Speaker 1: a new control person this year. It's one of the
- 35:30Speaker 1: other pole ads, and it would he basically said, we've
- 35:33Speaker 1: been in damage control reputation shot like he has admitted that.
- 35:37Speaker 1: And I think it's one thing to trade a guy
- 35:40Speaker 1: like Ryan Jeffers who's going to be a free agent,
- 35:41Speaker 1: or Joe Ryan who's a year and a half away.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Buckston's your core, he's your franchise player and he's playing
- 35:47Speaker 1: like that. That would be like a real dagger right
- 35:50Speaker 1: into the city. And I think it even hurts your
- 35:51Speaker 1: franchise value, right, I think fans would protest even more.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Some I know aren't showing up now, but there would
- 35:57Speaker 1: be way more in the team's at least competitive darts,
- 36:00Speaker 1: and I think's doing a fantastic job with a team
- 36:02Speaker 1: that's not been blessed with all kinds of buy in moves.
- 36:06Speaker 1: So for me, Kratz, I don't see it. The question
- 36:08Speaker 1: I have though, is for Byron, do you want to
- 36:11Speaker 1: be like Trout? It could be a thing. Are the
- 36:13Speaker 1: twins going to be good again? Maybe? But if you
- 36:16Speaker 1: have an opportunity right now to go to a spot
- 36:18Speaker 1: like Atlanta and you're from the area and they're good,
- 36:22Speaker 1: and you're going to be in the playoffs probably most
- 36:25Speaker 1: years because they're run really well, and this is your
- 36:27Speaker 1: chance to do it, will you do it? And I
- 36:31Speaker 1: think he owes that to the front office too on
- 36:33Speaker 1: the other side, like they took care of him. You're
- 36:35Speaker 1: on a big contract. If I'm trying to make trades,
- 36:37Speaker 1: I want to know that I can actually do it,
- 36:39Speaker 1: and then you're going to accept it. Don't make me
- 36:41Speaker 1: do all the legwork, go to you and then say
- 36:43Speaker 1: not just kidding.
- 36:45Speaker 4: My question is how much does he look at other
- 36:47Speaker 4: teams and say, wow, it'd be nice to play in October.
- 36:51Speaker 4: I loved it when we played in October. I love
- 36:54Speaker 4: the fact that now I've figured out how to keep
- 36:56Speaker 4: myself healthy, which was kind of a thing with him,
- 37:01Speaker 4: him and Royce, and they've kind of kept themselves healthy.
- 37:05Speaker 4: They've been able to be on the field. And Byron
- 37:08Speaker 4: bucks in this year, like if people haven't looked at
- 37:10Speaker 4: his stats, he's doing it right now. And I just
- 37:13Speaker 4: have My question would be he doesn't want to leave Minnesota.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Why?
- 37:19Speaker 4: Like, I get it, he's a twin and he's not.
- 37:22Speaker 4: He's not way. He does live there, absolutely, but winters
- 37:31Speaker 4: in Minnesota. That's a grind, Like do you want to
- 37:34Speaker 4: go home? Okay, so now you're going home? So to me,
- 37:39Speaker 4: I just would have I would just want to know.
- 37:43Speaker 4: I get it, you don't want to be trade. You're
- 37:45Speaker 4: not requesting a trade, But what is it about Minnesota
- 37:49Speaker 4: that you love? And are you okay spending the next
- 37:53Speaker 4: three or four years not winning?
- 37:57Speaker 1: That's a good question.
- 37:59Speaker 2: That's it. That's that's the only question.
- 38:02Speaker 1: The best comp is Trout right, super center fielder, long
- 38:07Speaker 1: time and Trout's legendary. I mean, Buxton doesn't have the pedigree,
- 38:11Speaker 1: but right now, I mean, he's one of the top
- 38:13Speaker 1: players in this sport and Trout hasn't gotten to do that,
- 38:16Speaker 1: your boy, and I know it. You know what's funny,
- 38:19Speaker 1: he's so like reserved in that way that he's going
- 38:23Speaker 1: to look at the positives, Todd father, But I know
- 38:26Speaker 1: you have looked at him sometimes and been like, damn,
- 38:30Speaker 1: I doesn't it hurt you a little bit that Trout
- 38:33Speaker 1: hasn't been in October more especially, you know, like this
- 38:37Speaker 1: year he's cranking again. And then I mean, if we
- 38:39Speaker 1: go through the prime years for that five six year run,
- 38:41Speaker 1: he was so stupid good and we didn't get to
- 38:44Speaker 1: see him in October and we never have that in
- 38:46Speaker 1: the NBA, so that that part hurt.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Right.
- 38:48Speaker 1: He's in a big market for a team that paid
- 38:51Speaker 1: him well and they were trying, but they couldn't surround
- 38:54Speaker 1: him with the right talent. Right, There's some dysfunction there,
- 38:56Speaker 1: and that's what bothered me. Could we have seen Trout
- 38:59Speaker 1: go somewhere else during that time period. I know it
- 39:01Speaker 1: wasn't gonna happen, but this is what relates to buston.
- 39:04Speaker 1: You know, you sometimes you wait around and then maybe
- 39:07Speaker 1: Buckston gets hurt at some point and then it's tougher
- 39:10Speaker 1: to trade the contract again. Blah blah blah, Like this
- 39:12Speaker 1: is the time teams want.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Him agreed, agreed, and not to harp on it more.
- 39:18Speaker 2: But yeah, we want to see these guys in the playoffs. Cratzy,
- 39:20Speaker 2: what do you got?
- 39:22Speaker 4: I mean, I would just say it's different than Trout
- 39:25Speaker 4: because Buckston just had some like a year and a
- 39:29Speaker 4: half before this season. Now he's working basically about two
- 39:32Speaker 4: years of health, and he watched his ownership ownership. Now,
- 39:38Speaker 4: the GM ownership just absolutely gut his team last year.
- 39:42Speaker 4: This is his team, no qualms about it, gutted his team.
- 39:48Speaker 4: Mike Trout has just been like, ah, man, you know
- 39:50Speaker 4: what this is gonna be. I know, Noah Cinderguard is
- 39:53Speaker 4: going to be a great pitcher. I know we've moved
- 39:55Speaker 4: red debtmers from the bullpen to the rotation, no hitter,
- 39:58Speaker 4: back to the bullpen, now back to Okay, I believe
- 40:01Speaker 4: in it. Like it's different every year. It's like, Okay,
- 40:03Speaker 4: he believes in this team. Byron Buxton this time last year,
- 40:08Speaker 4: had no idea they were gonna decimate this bullpen. No, like,
- 40:13Speaker 4: no way he knew that, and to me, his other
- 40:17Speaker 4: comments before were at the All Star Game before they
- 40:21Speaker 4: were like, oh, yeah, we're gonna we're gonna trade nine
- 40:23Speaker 4: of our guys, not really for that much, but just
- 40:26Speaker 4: to like get them off the books. Oh, our controllable closer. Yeah,
- 40:31Speaker 4: we'll get rid of him too. Oh, another controllable guy,
- 40:33Speaker 4: Griffin Jackson. He going the Rays won them and they
- 40:36Speaker 4: love pitching, so of course he's legit. Like it's it's
- 40:40Speaker 4: a different situation, good combo.
- 40:43Speaker 1: I like it this where the player perspective is interesting,
- 40:57Speaker 1: all right too. On our way out, just a verbal mention.
- 40:59Speaker 1: I mean we talked about it with Ken for a moment.
- 41:00Speaker 1: But Joey Bart traded from the Pirates to the Bravos.
- 41:03Speaker 1: He wasn't getting much pete with the Pittsburgh I mean,
- 41:06Speaker 1: he's not necessarily going to get much pete here either.
- 41:08Speaker 1: But Drake Balwin's pretty damn good, but they got to
- 41:10Speaker 1: use him back into things. So there it is, atl
- 41:13Speaker 1: designated Sandy leone for assignment and then cool one. On
- 41:17Speaker 1: our way out here, Todd father Trey Cruz making his
- 41:22Speaker 1: MLB debut this week and his family will join the Boons.
- 41:24Speaker 1: The Bells the Colemans and the Harristons as only the
- 41:27Speaker 1: fifth to have a grandfather, son and grandson all play
- 41:30Speaker 1: in the Jose Cruz Junior and Jose Cruz you played.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Was Cruse still in the league Cruse Junior when you
- 41:39Speaker 1: were playing?
- 41:40Speaker 2: I am not sure on that one. I think I
- 41:43Speaker 2: don't know. I think so.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I mean, definitely for Kratz, WHOA sorry about it. I
- 41:52Speaker 1: mean it's a two thousand.
- 41:55Speaker 4: And eight last year, two thousand and eight, I saw
- 42:01Speaker 4: him and I definitely saw him. I mean he was
- 42:04Speaker 4: that was he was like one of the first ones
- 42:06Speaker 4: the rock the really or the ones that I remember
- 42:09Speaker 4: to rock the like tight Uni he was. He was
- 42:13Speaker 4: like out their uniform looked like it was just like
- 42:15Speaker 4: sticking to him. But that's so cool, Grant, He's so cool.
- 42:20Speaker 4: Go Glover too.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Rookie.
- 42:22Speaker 4: No, didn't win Rookie of the Year, second place, Rookie
- 42:25Speaker 4: of the Year cool like somebody else.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I know. He had the name, he had the look,
- 42:30Speaker 1: he had the numbers at a time period, crats hats
- 42:33Speaker 1: on the way out.
- 42:35Speaker 2: I mean.
- 42:37Speaker 4: We talked about I feel like this is a team
- 42:41Speaker 4: that with the pitching that they have, they should turn
- 42:44Speaker 4: it around. They got to figure out how to score
- 42:45Speaker 4: at home. I don't know what's wrong with Globe Life,
- 42:47Speaker 4: but they gotta get the different bats, get turn a
- 42:51Speaker 4: human door down or something. We need some more runs
- 42:53Speaker 4: in Globe Life.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Nobody, that's the problem.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Nobody.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Twins did the right but not consistently. Can you put
- 43:02Speaker 1: runs up there. It'll help for maybe a trade deadline
- 43:05Speaker 1: move or two. You would think they'll push in as
- 43:07Speaker 1: they're a wild card hunter right now, but we'll see.
- 43:09Speaker 1: We'll see what it looks like over the next few weeks.
- 43:12Speaker 1: We're back on Monday. Stay safe, Happy, Happy Friday. Everyone
