The Supreme Court has blocked a presidential
• 0:09
request to limit mail -in voting in this year's
• 0:11
midterm elections. The last -minute push intended
• 0:14
to have the U .S. Postal Service play a central
• 0:16
role in deciding who would be able to receive
• 0:18
a ballot. A report by the Brookings Institution
• 0:21
published in 2025 found that mail -in voting
• 0:24
fraud occurred in only about four cases out of
• 0:27
every 10 million mail ballots cast. Roughly a
• 0:30
third of voters use mail ballots, and mail voting
• 0:33
has already begun in some states. The decision
• 0:35
allows states to continue sending out mail ballots
• 0:38
under the same processes they've used for years.

in the county's unincorporated areas, under a

require voter approval before an AI data center
• 1:00
or other high -intensity computing facilities
• 1:03
could receive zoning or permits or begin construction.
• 1:07
It would also express the county's opposition
• 1:09
to such facilities. The ballot measure would
• 1:12
go to voters in 2028, according to a county staff
• 1:15
report. There are currently no AI data centers
• 1:18
proposed in Santa Cruz County. And according
• 1:22
to Oregon Public Broadcasting, one person is
• 1:24
dead and several others were injured in a four
