Transcript
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome to Slander in Slay on the buzzer.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: I am Tracy.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: You just heard Nikki Kay, I am the slander, and she is a sleigh.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: And how fun is it?
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: And who who else is joining the group chat right now?
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Uh, we have Kathy and Sadie.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: My dogs have decided that this is a good moment to start barking.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: What are they barking at?
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Nobody knows.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: I guarantee you, including them.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: You know what I love is no matter what time we are recording at, I have the trash man coming.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Like that's yeah.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: I also have an upstairs neighbor who's a drummer, and sometimes he decides it's time to practice when when right when we start recording.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: I like it though.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: It's like we have a soundtrack.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: No, I love I love the pups in the chat.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: I Tracy, what I have loved the most about this past week is like we have appointment viewing every night.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Yes, every night.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: It's like we're back in the rhythm and the flow of football season, and we've got Thursday night football tonight.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: So all good.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, week two begins tonight.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Week one was honestly, I kind of feel like we're in week 12.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: I felt like so much happened in week one that I just kind of feel like we are much farther into the season.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: I want you know, just appointment viewing.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: The dogs have come to watch us.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, great! Oh, I love them.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: If they make a game there, yeah, I wouldn't have except they're I can see it in your eyes.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: You're like, yeah, they're looking, they're so cute.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: I love them so much.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Anyways, we went crazy and they had to watch all of week one.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: This was my first week one in 10 years, where I was actually home to watch all the games and comment on them and talk about them.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: I love this for you.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: I love this, yeah.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: You got to really soak it all in.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: What was your favorite part about being able to just like capture everything?
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Well, so you know I love creating content.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Like, I just I actually enjoy doing it.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: So all of a sudden I was like, oh, there's stuff I can do around everything.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: And it made me like I was taking notes on all the games and the things to look out for.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: And it was really kind of it was a cool thing.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: I was like, this is what it's like to watch football a day.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Because normally I'm not watching football a day.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: I was like, I have the pregame and all the stuff, and I really don't watch anything unless it was a primetime game that the Niners weren't playing in.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: So it was really fun, and I created like some new series on social and so I'm really excited about it.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: So it was fun.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: It was a really fun week.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: I really was like, okay, this is this is football.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: And I would also say that it this is the first year, and because I covered the Niners, and I always had an idea of what obviously was going around on around the league, but this year is the first year where I feel like I actually have to watch every like Thursday night football.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: I need to be home watching Thursday night football the entire game, Monday night football.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Whereas before I was paying attention, but I wouldn't necessarily have to be home.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Now I feel like I have to be home because talking about all of it.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Pulse on it all.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: And with that in mind, let's look at week one, and then we'll move into week two.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Okay, Nikki, I we have some categories, and so I'm gonna say the categories, and then we can kind of discuss where we think people fall.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: There was didn't skip a beat, where I think we could put the bills.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna give examples for the listeners, for the viewers.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: You know, so didn't skip a beat.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Pleasant surprises, maybe the cardinals, maybe the giants.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Who's to say?
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: We can discuss.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Need to see more again.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Maybe the cardinals, maybe the giants.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: We can discuss WTF is going on, would be uh the Broncos, the uh Rams, potentially, though week one can be a lot.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: Okay, so this is where we need to get into our categorical assignments, but where you might have them, and then we'll go.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, who we who would we nominate that.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: So who do you who would you nominate for didn't skip a beat?
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Okay, so you mentioned the Bills.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna kind of take this um as a momentum one with the Chicago Bears.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Oh yes, I love the Bears.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: I kind of love the Bears.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna lie.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Caleb Williams putting up a 50 burger, and I think it was just a continuation of the offense we saw under Ben Johnson last season.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: And obviously their their defense might need a little work, but I mean this the stats from from this game, Bears put up the most points in franchise history, the most rushing touchdowns, six of them since 1922.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: Caleb became the first Bears quarterback ever with 200 plus.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: That's over 100 years, by the way.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: That is 104 years.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I don't want to throw that out there.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: It's a lot of things.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Caleb's stats were first Bears quarterback ever with 200 plus passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 50 plus rushing yards, and two rushing touchdowns in a game.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was just it was insane, it was awesome.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: And um, what a spectacle.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: And I I want more Bears, uh, more Bears points.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: I want more Bear Bears points too.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: And let me tell you, they're gonna need them because of the defense you mentioned.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: So they may have to put up about 40 points a game to to really, you know, make it through the season.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: But I agree with you.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: That's a good, that was a good didn't skip a beat.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Also, Ben Johnson.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you saw at the other day at this press conference.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Someone was like, or he was being interviewed and he said, I kind of wanted you to go for two there, and he said, You're not alone.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: The man is insane, and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: I I'm so into the bears.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Like I fully from last season, part of it was Colston Loveland, so I was obviously gonna pay attention and like them, but now I've basically become a person who's jumped on the manwagon and I will admit it and I'm fine with it, and I'm like bears forever.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: I love them.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: I keep it keep it rolling.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: Who's okay?
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: Keep it rolling.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Who do you have up for didn't skip a beat?
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: I actually I'm gonna stick with the bills.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm gonna stick with the bills on this one uh because I really felt like it was maybe close, it was close, but they actually got it done.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: So this I understand it's week one and it's not the postseason, but I feel like this is the kind of game that the bills need to consistently be winning all season because then they can take that into the postseason.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Again, we're going into week two, but I am gonna stick with the bills on this one.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Um, I think they looked really good, and then I'm gonna give an honorable mention to the Texans defense.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, even if they play the Bills.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna give an honorable mention to the Texans defense on Didn't Skip of Beat.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: I um almost feel like the Bills took another step forward.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: But but yeah, like you said, week one.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Can't over it's all over.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Well, but some some some yes, some no.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Okay, let's move into pleasant surprises.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: Who was your pleasant surprise?
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: Okay, so I'm going to say the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: I thought it was really which is so funny considering right, right, right, right.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: But I get it 100%.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: And I did, I did have the 49ers in there as well.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Um, the I I just was really thrilled to see Patrick Mahomes back.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: And then the having I think it's like for the first time since 2020, they can have a running back who might have a thousand yard season, right?
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Like I thought he was gonna have a thousand yards on Monday night, frankly.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: So totally Kenneth Walker and Kenneth K9, I guess is what they call him, is on my fantasy team.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: And boy, oh boy, am I so thrilled.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: But I mean, it was really cool to see Patrick Mahomes uh have an ability to reassimilate himself um after sharing his ACL and LCL, what uh one of the other at once.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: I think I thought it was a DCL.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but there were two.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: He did what there were two CL, two CLs that went down after losing his knee whole knee and coming back.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Um, Arrowhead seemed so loud.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: Uh it was it was fun seeing that display back.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: And I love Spag's defense as always, their rookies on on that side of the ball.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, they they're the chief the AFC is stacked.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: The AFC is stacked, and that is gonna make the NFC so interesting.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Well, it's gonna make the AFC very interesting, and it's gonna make the NFC interesting in a different way.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be like, I I don't necessarily totally believe in anyone yet.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Again, it has been one week, but the AFC is really gonna be fun, and it's kind of different than baseball where the AL is not so great and the NL is stacked, so it's like fun with the different leagues.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: But uh the AFC is really stacked.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: It was fun.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: It really was fun to watch the Chiefs.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: I am not and have never been a Chiefs hater.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: I understand people hate teams that win a lot for whatever reason.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Um jealousy, or they just get sick of seeing the same teams win.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: I am not, I don't feel that way, and so I think it was really fun.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: And I think the league, when Mahomes is playing well and the Chiefs are relevant, it's good for the league.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: So it was it was a lot of fun.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, my pleasant surprise.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: I will go with you.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: The Niners, except my feeling on the Niners is they're I was reminded of something.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: When they're healthy, they're a contending football team.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Now, they can't afford they lost two guys on Thursday in Deshaun Stribling and uh Jake Tongis.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Stribling will be back in about 10 weeks.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: Jake Tongis is out for the season, but they really can't afford any other major injuries, and that's gonna be the big thing because you do have a somewhat aging roster, but I think they looked very good, and it was a good reminder what a difference a Nick Bosa and a Fred Warner make, and having Dre Greenlaw back.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: I also kind of felt this is like a little bit off topic, but I'd like your feeling on this.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: It felt a little bit to me like after that performance nationally, there was a lot more understanding and accepting that Brock Purdy is a top 10 quarterback.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: Just um the way, the way he led that offense, you know, and right, it was it was a national showcase opportunity, and it was a team that had been kind of, you know, I don't want to say disrespected, but also not a lot of chatter about the 49ers at all.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Oh, there's been a lot of chatter, but not about the ball team.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: Off the field chatter.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: Off the field chatter.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: So I think it will be interesting to see they played the Dolphins this weekend.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: So I I think it's still not gonna be the most telling, but um, I it'll be kind of fun to watch.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: If nothing else, they certainly established that the NFC West is not a two-team race, right?
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: It's a three-team race.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: And what I think is gonna be so interesting is there were so many division games.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: You talked about that Chiefs game against the Broncos, the Niners, and the Rams.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: There were a lot of division games that, yes, it's week one, and we can look at week one.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: It's like, well, it's almost like the preseason and it doesn't matter.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: At the end of the season, these week one games may very much matter.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: They could be the difference between winning a division and not.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: And how about this?
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: The Los Angeles Rams are the only NFC West team with a loss.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: Yes, which means 100% they're gonna go to the Super Bowl because you can just see it now.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: They'll be like, looking back at week one, the only NFC West team with loss.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: I they're still my Super Bowl favorites.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: I'm not I'm not giving up on the Rams just yet.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: But I guess that leads us to need to see more.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: So, my need to see more.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna start on this one, is the Arizona Cardinals because they were they were in the pleasant surprise category, but I need to see more.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: I the Cardinals also have a tendency to start a season like eight and oh, six and two, and then just go on a complete downhill spiral.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: But they certainly were different.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: Jeremiah Love is completely as advertised, so it was really fun to watch him, but I don't know.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: I think it's I think it could be good, and I think um Mike LaFleur is a really good coach, and he's yeah, that's different actually, yeah.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: And he outclassed Harbaugh.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: He he totally outclassed Harbaugh, which you know is a hard personal thing for me because of my love for Jim Harbaugh, but he totally outclassed Harbaugh, and I think Harbaugh, and I think something we saw this weekend too, with a couple pleasant surprises slash need to see more's and I'll throw the New York Giants in there, is what a difference a coach makes.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: Like John Harbaugh's New York Giants are looked like they could contend.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Maybe they're not contending for the Super Bowl, but they could compete.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: Let's just put that.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: They could compete, and they've got some very good players on that team.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: And we saw that with Mike LaFleur.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, what a difference a coach makes.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: And then it's interesting because you look at the other LaFleur, Matt Lefle, Matt LaFleur, and I'll put the Packers in my need to see more before I completely write them off category, but he's kind of on the hot seat, and his he was outcoached.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: So it's gonna be kind of interesting.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: And he's been consistently outcoached, and I hate to say that, but when you have that many, they've lost six straight games now, going back to last season the playoffs.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: In four of those games, they were leading in the fourth quarter.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: And when you're collapsing like that, that feels a little bit like coaching, even if players make plays, then it feels a little bit like coaching.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: Right, absolutely.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: And I mean, yeah, I I thought Arizona put on a really fun, you know, clinic against the Chargers.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: I was at that game.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: It was it was ugly for the Bolts.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: Um, but I would say in my need to see, and yeah, I think the pleasant surprises need to see more.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: It's like glass half full versus glass half empty kind of approach, right?
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Like the glass isn't tipping over, but I so it could go either way because I I felt the Giants were a very pleasant surprise.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: They looked like a completely transformed organization, almost like just more professional in every way.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Um, more so I'm emotional just thinking about it.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: Um so in my need to see more, I would put this on the you know, the teams that are supposed to be up top, but kind of had really bad debuts.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: So I had kind of like the Los Angeles Rams, and I also had um sorry, I have people in my yard right now.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: Excuse me?
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: Oh okay.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: Are they leaving your yard?
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, okay.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, that's a little okay.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: Are they leaving?
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: Wait, are they leaving your yard?
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: Um they're walking around my yard and they just waved at me.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: Okay, they went.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: It's okay.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: They look harmless.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Is your is your door locked?
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: We're okay.
- 14:59unknown: Okay.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Anyways, need to see more of why you're in my yard.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: I need to see more of these people leaving your yard.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: That is what I mean.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Okay, sorry.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: They are not a pleasant surprise.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, not a pleasant surprise.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: Um, my need to see more in terms of uh teams that are up top but just had big flops were the Los Angeles Rams and the Denver Broncos.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: I don't think Bo Knicks is going to be out of the mix, but I also is that the start of your poem about Bonex?
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: I don't think Bo Nicks is gonna be out of the mix.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then also with the Los Angeles Rams, I am a little bit concerned because apparently they knew that Miles Garrett should have been having that surgery since July.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: What were they thinking?
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: And why on earth, knowing that, were they flying him to air to Australia the day before and having him play in that game and having to do two like 16-hour flights?
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: What were they thinking?
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: That I don't just feel like that.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: That to me is a kind of a sign of I don't know.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: That's why I need to see more, right?
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Like the decision, the travel from the travel decision and approach to making a judgment call like that is a it's a little gambly, right?
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: It's a little gambling, it's also a little um hubris, it's a little irreverent.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: Irreverent, yeah.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like it's a little bit like, yeah, we've got this, and I think it was a real wake-up call for them.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: And then then having to put Miles Garrett on IR.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: I think this was a wake-up call that they're not just gonna cakewalk through the season.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Um, so it's gonna be interesting.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: And the thing with Miles Garrett, in theory, he's only gonna miss four games, but we'll see.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like last year the Packers and Micah Parsons.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: They got Micah Parsons, and it was like, okay, the Packers are the favorite to win the Super Bowl.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: They lose Micah Parsons.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: I don't think they've won a game since.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: I would actually have to double check that.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying the Rams are talking about a game, but but Miles Garrett was the is the reason they catapulted to being front runners.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: So this injury is something to really keep an eye on, and to not have him have it at the end of July is bizarre to me.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: You would he'd be fine, he'd in theory, he'd be better by now.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: So I I don't understand that.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: It's very strange.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: Um, I have another need to see more, and it's it's the other LA team, it's the Chargers.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: I'm not convinced that even though Justin Herbert, our narrative on Justin Herbert, he did not help it the other day.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: I'm not convinced the Chargers are as big of a mess as we saw the other day.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: And it kind of begs the question.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: Maybe that's dramatic, maybe it doesn't beg it, but you know, we've talked a lot about the preseason.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: We talked about it in the preseason, we talked about joint practices.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: Part of me is starting to feel like there should at least be one preseason game where all the starters have to at least play a half.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, not have to, but it's up to a coach, obviously, but starters play a half because these week one games looked for a lot of teams like preseason games.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: That and that is, I think, like you said, a recurring trend throughout the league.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: My dad has a saying that, you know, when you like, especially after a really fun weekend, um, you know, you could go on vacation or a wedding or whatever.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: The Monday always hits the worst.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: Like you have all the Monday scaries in the world, and he'll always call me and I'll be like, hey, reminder, Mondays are about survival.
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: So it's kind of that's kind of how I think about week one.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: Week one is about survival, right?
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I but I do have to say for the unit that the Chargers are like, there's no new coaching, there's no new quarterback.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: The weapons have stayed pretty much consistent.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: There is McDaniel, yeah.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: Okay, yes, sorry.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: That's the only thing I'll say.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: I uh and I only bring that up because I think it might take a minute for them to adjust to this new offense.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: That's okay, fair.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: They did get two of their, you know, pillars of the offensive lineback with Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt, but just like it was sloppy, and that could be a huge sign of how they approached the the preseason, but they were my what WTF is going on team.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: Well, and I give Jim Harbaugh a lot of credit.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, I give Jim Harbaugh a lot of credit for existing, but I give him even more credit for flat out saying I should have played the guys more of the preseason.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Like it's not very Jim Harbaugh-like to flat out admit if he made a mistake, like not he might dance around it or whatever, but like he flat out said that.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: And I thought, okay, so I give him, I give him credit total aside.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Did you see his Dockers commercial?
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, the man is meant for a khaki's ad.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: He is a national treasure.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: He is a I'm not, and I'm actually not sorry.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: He is a national treasure.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: He that that docker's ad was like, I was like, you know what?
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: Why doesn't he just retire and do Docker's ads?
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: This is honestly really tempting.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: Really, really, really tempting.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: But their affair WTF is going on.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think the Broncos are a fair WTF is going on.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: Under Sean Payton, they have not traditionally started the season strong, the Broncos.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: Um, but then they ride into their momentum.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: They ride into their to quote to quote Russell Wilson, they let's ride into their momentum as the season goes on.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: But they got a tough road.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: They're playing the Jaguars this week, they're playing the Rams next week, and then they play the 49ers.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Like that's there's no opportunity for to catch your breath.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: No, they're definitely not.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: What do you think about the Patriots?
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: Are they a WTF as going on?
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: No, I don't think they're WTFs going on.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: I don't, it didn't surprise me all that much.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think they're a need to see more, but I think the Patriots and the Broncos both have a similarity in that the quarterback is, I mean, it's gonna be the quarterback because both of those quarterbacks did not play well.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: And in Bonicks and Drake May, and if they're gonna succeed, they're gonna have to get better quarterback play.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be kind of interesting to see how this play put no pun intended plays out.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: Uh, and there was all that scuttle butt about Drake May after the Super Bowl.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: And I don't know if it's a little bit of a Super Bowl hangover, because that can certainly happen.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: But Mike Vrabel's gonna have to figure out his quarterback because some of it's mental.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: Like there's some really bad just mental errors.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: Like, what was he thinking?
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: Bo Nicks was just a mess in every which uh but with with Drake May, there were a lot of mental errors, and I think Mike Vrabel's gonna have to get his quarterback together and figure out what does he need to do to get this guy back on track.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: So uh that's gonna be it's gonna be interesting for both of them.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: And I think they're two AFC teams that people had considered, you know, front runners to contend.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: So do you think we see Sean Payton calling the plays?
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: At one point, this like, do you think that he'll have to revert to doing that?
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: I I part of me, I mean, when I was watching the game Monday, I was like, he's gonna be calling the plays by the fourth quarter.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: Yes, do I think so?
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: Yes, but he's gonna have to give.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: Well, I guess here's the thing: how much time is he willing to give Davis Webb?
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Because I just told you their schedule of the first four weeks of the season.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: So if I I think I understand it's a new position for Davis Webb and you want to give it time, but by the same token, you can have time.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: You don't have time, like you have really tough teams ahead of you.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: So it will be interesting to see how patient he is.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: If it's a disaster again on Sunday, I don't, I mean, it seemed like a disaster.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: The other thing that really stood out to me is every time they showed Davis Webb, he was like, Oh, oh my god! Like I he was, and I understand it's this, but like he was he was not like kind of which kind of calm, cool, and collected about it.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: You got you gotta be poker face, you gotta be poker face, so it's I think if it's one or two more weeks of that, then yes, it'll be going back to Sean Payton.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: It could be two Sunday, okay.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: And what do you think Taylor Swift and Tom Cruise were talking about together in the box?
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: I don't know, but I was like, what?
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: But I think he was invited to the wedding.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: Probably, and I think when you're uh you're that level of celebrity, you have so many overlapping touch points and people, industry people, you know.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: And even if it is just for face, like just for public, you know, like they know the cameras are on them, the the conversation talk topics could be just endless.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: And you notice he wasn't there like in the second half.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: He only stayed.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: It was like I'm over it.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he was by the time they showed her when Kelsey had that huge play, like he was gone.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: By the way, I know that the lip readers wanted to think that she said, Don't show me, don't show me.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: That's not what she said.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: She said, He's open, he's open.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: If you're looking at what I like that, Crazy, I like that.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: That's if you really look at what she's saying, she's saying, He's open, he's open, and then she gets really excited.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: So he's open, he's open.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: It wasn't don't show me, don't show me.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: I know don't show me, don't show me is a way better storyline, but that's she would never be, she would never, why would she mouth that?
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: Never because she knows they're showing her, she would never say that.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: It would be like by saying it in the box.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: Do you think the cameras are gonna hear you?
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Like that makes yeah, no sense.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: No sense at all.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: Absolutely no sense.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: Um, and she didn't get to where she is by not being shown, right?
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: And that's fine, it's not a criticism in any way, shape, or form.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so that's just an aside.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: But yeah, that was a funny crossover event between Taylor Swift and Tom Cruise.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: But I thought it was really funny when I was I in the second half, I was like, well, I guess he's seen enough.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: It's like I'm gonna go.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Like, all right, I got the point.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I gotta go.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: So we look at let's look at week two, and some of these WTF teams.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: I think the Chargers have a real chance to bounce back.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: They're playing the Raiders, who did beat the Dolphins the other day, but the Dolphins are very, you know, sometimes I look at games and I want to look at the matchups, and maybe the team isn't very good, but they match up well against another team.
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: The Dolphins are just bad, they are a very, very bad football team.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: Um, so I think the Chargers have a good bounce back opportunity.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: However, if they lose on Sunday, like is it is Bolt Nation if that's a theory.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: I think I'm wondering Farbaugh could be on the hot seat if they lose.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: But see, I think so I have a a little bit of a theory.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: I think that's how bad teams stay bad.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: So I was actually on another show earlier today, and we were talking about that Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay are now two of the longest tenured coaches in the league.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: And one thing I will say for the Rams and the 49ers, that also was a willingness to be patient in the beginning.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: The Rams didn't have there was a little bit different in the beginning, but that's also why they've maintained success.
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying you should keep bad coaches for 10 years if they're not successful, but bad teams stay bad by changing coaches every two years.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: So I would say if they have a disastrous season, maybe hardballs on the hot season.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: But I think to this early middle of the, and that's not also a very that the Chargers do have, you know, their coaching turnovers, so to speak, but they don't find mid-season, right?
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: And and I think even firing every year or two, I think is why bad teams stay bad.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: And I know that he's been the Chargers coach now for uh uh this will be his third season, but I think I think he has a little time.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: But let me tell you who I do think is on the hot seat with the Chargers, Justin Herbert.
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: That to me, and I know that's a weird way to say it, but what what are we seeing as you and I have discussed before, like where I don't get it.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: I mean seventh year with the team.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: Yep, like I don't I don't get it.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: So that he was bad, he was bad, like he was just bad coming off a playoff game where he was bad, and there was like I hate it.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there was that one over the middle pass to Ladd McConkey, which was just like dangerous.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: Well, and now and not then, but now Ladd McConkey may not be playing on the way he's getting a rib injury, so uh that's something to watch that's not gonna help the Chargers cause at all.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: But no, he was really bad.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: So I think he is a person that could be on the proverbial hot seat.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: I like it.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: I like that take from you.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: Uh, what is your game of the weekend?
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: I know mine.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: Oh, thank you for letting me go first because I am so hyped on this.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: Um, can we just talk about a top 10 matchup in college football with number seven LSU at number eight?
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: Oh miss.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: It's the Lane Kiffen bowl.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: I cannot wait for the drama.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: The drama.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, the drama is gonna be pettiness around this game.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: I also love the Grove College Game Day, hasn't been there since 2021.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, I'm so fired up.
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: That is gonna be so the drama.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: Honestly, I expect peak Lane Kiffin in terms of pettiness.
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, week one, when he walked in with Libby Dunn and Libby, yeah.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, so like the whole thing.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: I don't know, all the characters, all the characters.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: He is such a piece of work, but honestly, I think he would consider that a compliment.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: I think if he were sitting here, he'd be like, Thank you.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: Yes, I am, and thank you for noticing.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: Uh, but yeah, no, that is gonna be such a fun, drama-filled game.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: What time is that game on Saturday?
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: Do you know?
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: It is okay.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: Let me see.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: I had it in my notes here.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: Well, maybe I don't have it in my notes, but um, I'm yeah, I think it it's gonna be so so fire, and it's the first top 10 meeting between these two schools in over 60 years.
- 29:00SPEAKER_01: So, and those are two of the best fan bases in all of college football.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: Yes, and the lane kiff and bull, which is like such a frightening concept, but also 100% on point.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, oh, sorry, it's uh this time was literally right in front of my face.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: 4:30 Pacific in Oxford, 6:30 Central.
- 29:19SPEAKER_01: Uh okay.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: So that's prime time.
- 29:21SPEAKER_01: Where uh where will you be watching college football this Saturday?
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: Well, I host radio from one to three.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: So I'll see some of the games I'll see from home.
- 29:31SPEAKER_00: And then the in the studio, they have multiple, as you know, multiple TVs up there in that Fox Sports Radio Studio.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: So be watching there, but I will be back in time to watch LSU Ole Miss.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: Probably, I'll probably at home.
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: I I sometimes after radio, you know, you're on and talking for two hours.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: Sometimes like I need to come home and like take a beat and deep rest in a good in a good way.
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: I love doing it, but like in a okay, now I'm gonna, I don't have to be on for a little bit.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: I'm just gonna watch LSU and Ole Miss with my dogs, who, as you heard earlier, will have plenty to say on the map.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: Um, okay, what's your game of the weekend?
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: So mine is the NFL game, and it is the Bears and the Vikings because I think that Bears offense versus the Brian Flores Vikings defense is going to be really, really fun to watch.
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm very excited about that.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: It's a big divisional game.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: The Bears starting their first two weeks against divisional opponents, but I think it's going to be oh, wait, nope, that's not true.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: I lied.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: The the Vikings are starting their first two weeks against divisional opponents.
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: The Bears played the Panthers last week, and it was the Vikings that played the Packers.
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: Uh, so I think that one is gonna be fun.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: So I think I'm I'm excited to watch that.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: And then I'm excited about the Broncos and the Jaguars because you've got two good teams, and the Broncos really they need this win.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: They cannot start the season 0-2.
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: So I'm interested to see how they bounce back, if they bounce back.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: And I think for the Jaguars, who are a very good football team, it's an opportunity to show just how good they might be.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: That's a great one on Sunday.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so those are my those are my games the weekend.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: And then of course, tonight we have, depending on when you are listening to this, we have the Bills and the Lions, which is also going to be a very fun football game.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: And Bill's New Stadium being broken.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: Yes, Bill's New Stadium being broken.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: Someone said to me the other day, well, and they still don't have a cover.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: I'm like, no, that's that's by design.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: Bill's mafia, they want nothing to do with a cover.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: Okay, they are they're in the snow.
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: Tarps off.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: They're tarps off, tarps off.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: They are the epitome of tarps off all the time.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: So very, very into that.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: Um, so it's gonna be a very fun week, too, in the NFL.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: I am super, super excited about it.
- 31:45SPEAKER_00: Uh, yeah.
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: Shall we K-pop?
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, let's K-pop.
- 31:49SPEAKER_01: And this has just been an interesting rabbit hole and conversation point all week.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: We got to talk about the ad that has got the world talking by Novig, which is a sports prediction trading app, but which I'd never heard of before this week.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: Another polymarket thing just popping up.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and now we're uh we're talking about it here.
- 32:09SPEAKER_01: Um, but it's gotten it's gotten everybody a flutter because it features Sydney Sweeney, who always seems to be at the heart of uh conversation, um, kind of basically nude and just saying sports over and over again in kind of provocative positions.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: Uh and the ad is in and of itself just provocative.
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: Uh so and everyone's talking about it.
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: It's done exactly what it was supposed to do.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: And it's really it's really infuriated a lot of female athletes because um their messaging and their counter social media trends are saying, I don't know what Sydney Sweeney is talking about, but this is what a woman in sports looks like.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: So a lot of a lot of she's pissed off a lot of women.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: Let's just say that.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: And it's interesting because I have two sides of it.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: If if the conversation, the concern is the hypersexualization of women, 100%.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: Get that.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 33:09SPEAKER_00: My thing is she's not a woman in sports, and she never never in the ad does she portray herself as a woman in sports.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: It's a sports betting ad.
- 33:20SPEAKER_00: And like I said, it's doing exactly what it was supposed to do because I had never heard of this company before, and everybody is talking about it.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: I think the hypersexualization of women, I think is more of the bigger concern and issue.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: And I think it's also a week where we had the issue with Holly Rowe and Sarkisian and Arch Manning, and Arch Manning making that comment in the press conference about the AI video of Sark hitting Holly Rowe, which never actually happened, um, and him saying it was funny, and the reporters in the room all laughing.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: It's not funny.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: No AI video of a man hitting a woman is ever, ever going to be funny.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: And it kind of goes back to what we talked about a few weeks ago with the golf, whose whose name I now can't remember.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: Don't touch my driver.
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: Don't touch my driver.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: So um I think there's been a few things this week, and Arch Manning apologized.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: Holly Rowe accepted the apology.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: She said they had a private conversation.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: I actually, when it comes to that one, I know we're off topic, I'll get back to Sydney Sweetie in a second.
- 34:22SPEAKER_00: But I just wanted to say this like, I think Sark should apologize.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: And I think he put his 22-year-old quarterback in the position of having to answer questions about something that he did.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: Not the hitting, but that he ignored Holly Rowe, he blew her off, he ran.
- 34:37SPEAKER_00: Like, I think that was not, I think he should apologize.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: But anyway, so that's a different thing.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: But I think on the same week, we're seeing two things that are very disturbing to women.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: But on the women in sports thing, and I could, this is just my opinion, and it could be wrong.
- 34:51SPEAKER_00: She's not a woman in sports, and nor does she portray herself to be a woman in sports.
- 34:57SPEAKER_00: It's an ad that is 100% geared towards male sports fans who think Sydney Sweeney is hot.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: Yes, and you are so right.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: But I think I have enough contextual evidence about Sydney Sweeney in my brain that makes me just look at her as not a girl's girl.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: Like that's and she's yes, very appealing to men, but I think with certain moves in her public perception, she's just harder for me to like want to be like, hell yeah, girl, you look great.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: You know, and I don't know.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: I it the ad seemed really just shallow and tasteless.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: Um not that it was for me, and not that it needs to be for me.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it just was lame.
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: And when I did see female athletes trumpeting their success and their bodies and all that, I'm like, you know what?
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: Do it, do it.
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: 100%.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: Do it always.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: Always.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: Flood the internet with those visuals instead of us seeing this Sweeney ad over and over again.
- 36:07SPEAKER_01: I don't, you're you're right.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: She's not saying she's a woman in sports, she's just literally appealing to the gays that you know it she's she's oriented herself towards.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: So yeah, to me, I'm just like, I'm I'm over it.
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think the ad, if it the ad, I almost feel like the ad is separate from the women in sports thing.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: That being said, if it gave female athletes an opportunity to to show the things they've done and celebrate their successes and their hard work, then great.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: I am all for that every day of the week, every month of the year, every year of the millennia.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: I just can't cut more years.
- 36:50SPEAKER_00: Um, so I know, and I know we're gonna have to jump off in a second.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: I would love your thoughts on the Arch Manning thing, just because I think the two things happened this week in conjunction and both the survey.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: I found the the whole Arch Manning thing much worse.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: What I found the worst part was the reporters laughing.
- 37:07SPEAKER_00: Like Arch Manning is 22 years old, it does not excuse the behavior.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: The second he said it, he looked at the PR guy.
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: You know, the second he said it, he was like, I should not have said that.
- 37:16SPEAKER_00: He should not think it.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think a huge, huge learning experience for for Arch, and he and Holly Rowe have worked it out.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: He has apologized.
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: It's to me the reporters in the room and the reporter that tweeted it and said his response was quote unquote gold, not even quote unquote, quote gold.
- 37:33SPEAKER_00: That to me was just so that's so problematic.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: It's problematic.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: What it makes me concerned is that there is a little manosphere going on and emerging, and there's thoughts like that, like that are or I mean, not even media training.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: This this kid's it's he's grown up media trained, and not even that could prevent his genuine thoughts, which are disturbing.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: Like to see a video of a woman being smacked and say it's funny is it's just bad.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: It's bad.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: It's oh, it's bad.
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: I I I hope, and maybe this is my naivete, but I really hope that this is a pretty massive learning experience for him, and also realizing it's not funny, right?
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: And and I I also hope that maybe I don't know that it will, but that it would make other young men look at this experience and be like, yeah, that's really not funny.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: Because at the core of it, I would have to hope that I don't know.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: I would I would hope he actually did not think it was funny, but he clearly because he said that.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: Um, but I thought, you know, he his apology felt on his Instagram story, heartfelt.
- 38:47SPEAKER_00: I think, you know, we'll we'll see.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: But I that was not good.
- 38:51SPEAKER_00: And I also, like I said, blame his coach, his coach's behavior after the game was inappropriate.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: And I don't know if there were technical difficulties or once, but it takes five seconds and he had to do his job.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: Holly Rowe has a job to do too, and that's part of it.
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: If you're gonna be the coach of Texas and get paid all the money and all the things, part of it is you do the interview, and it would have taken all of five seconds for him to say, I'm really proud of my guys, want to celebrate with them, huge win for Texas, hook them, and like he could have done that in four seconds, and that would have been the end of it.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: So I think all the behavior around the Texas football team was not great.
- 39:26SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: So that is that.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: All right, you guys, this is Slander and Slay on Buzzer.
