- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, guys, welcome to another episode of Eating While Broke.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm Colleen with your host, brought my apron, brought the
- 0:06Speaker 1: girl streets. Let's go check out day Storm Power's house up. So, hey,
- 0:16Speaker 1: go on in. This is for me, all right, come
- 0:19Speaker 1: on in, Hey, welcome to you, broke as bitches to
- 0:23Speaker 1: my home. I'm gonna straight up, We're gonna start up
- 0:26Speaker 1: in here right here. Follow me on in here. This
- 0:29Speaker 1: is my podcast last studio room. Um, so you won't
- 0:33Speaker 1: get one of these when you're broke. You have to
- 0:36Speaker 1: actually start making money, which I decided to do in life,
- 0:39Speaker 1: and then I decided to get me a podcast from
- 0:41Speaker 1: So this is why I shoot all of the music
- 0:42Speaker 1: and all the podcasts and videos. If we walk over
- 0:45Speaker 1: here inside this door, if I showed you what was
- 0:47Speaker 1: in here, I'd had to kill you. So over and
- 0:49Speaker 1: here if you want here. This was a garage, but
- 0:52Speaker 1: I decided to turn this into the set of the
- 0:54Speaker 1: Retro Show. It's really beautiful. I'm shooting my new series
- 0:59Speaker 1: Everything Wretch. Well everything eighties, nineties and two thousand's happened
- 1:04Speaker 1: on the Retro Show set. Now, most people they use
- 1:06Speaker 1: this room as a garage, but fun that every room
- 1:10Speaker 1: in your house has to be usable space. This is
- 1:12Speaker 1: my illustrious UH Trophy and slash metal case by the way. Today,
- 1:18Speaker 1: actually I got two new nominations for UM the Streaming Awards.
- 1:22Speaker 1: The Streaming Awards is the biggest awards show for any
- 1:24Speaker 1: type of digital content. I just got two new nominations.
- 1:27Speaker 1: That's kind of dope. I got four streams. I've been
- 1:29Speaker 1: nominated ever since. Streaming has actually used to look like this, y'all.
- 1:32Speaker 1: They was shaped like bubble gum rappers, but they're not
- 1:36Speaker 1: like that. This is my Emmy nomination. That's my YouTube
- 1:39Speaker 1: when I hit a million back in twenty eleven. Now
- 1:42Speaker 1: as we come into here, this is all my dining area,
- 1:45Speaker 1: all the artwork I did that art piece right there,
- 1:48Speaker 1: that's my artwork. And as we swing around, as I
- 1:52Speaker 1: swing around here, this is my kitchen. And this is
- 1:54Speaker 1: where we're gonna actually shoot eating while broke. And this
- 1:58Speaker 1: actually kitchen right here. This is actually an amazing in kitchen.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I need to do something with it. Now let me
- 2:02Speaker 1: swing on around this way. You have my living room
- 2:04Speaker 1: area right here. This area is used a lot. I
- 2:06Speaker 1: don't know how big this TV is. I think it's like,
- 2:09Speaker 1: I just say, give me a TV that's bigger than me.
- 2:11Speaker 1: And I think they they successfully pulled that off, because
- 2:15Speaker 1: when you broke, you don't get none of this stuff.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So you get all the ship that you want when
- 2:18Speaker 1: you actually become somebody. And I said, if I'm longer
- 2:21Speaker 1: than the TV, I don't want it. This is the
- 2:24Speaker 1: biggest selfie mirror in the world right here, by the way.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I figured. I just grabbed one of these and put
- 2:28Speaker 1: my hands and I don't even like taking pictures. I
- 2:30Speaker 1: just had it because I got a lot of female
- 2:32Speaker 1: friends and girls like taking picture, so I got it
- 2:34Speaker 1: for them. I don't use it. Actually, nine in the
- 2:37Speaker 1: house I don't use, by the way. So we're gonna
- 2:38Speaker 1: go upstairs. This is artwork right here by my boy
- 2:41Speaker 1: Don Benjamin. Right here you get the artwork on the wall.
- 2:45Speaker 1: This piece of artwork was done by me. Piece of
- 2:48Speaker 1: artwork on that room, my friendly am Viva the artwork.
- 2:51Speaker 1: We don't say master bedroom anymore because black lives matter
- 2:54Speaker 1: and we don't have masters anymore. So this is the
- 2:57Speaker 1: premier bedroom. I decided that I was gonna put a
- 2:59Speaker 1: share and end the leer in the bedroom, which was
- 3:02Speaker 1: pretty cool. I like colors. Designed it all myself. I
- 3:05Speaker 1: like the black and white effect that we brought to
- 3:07Speaker 1: the room. I think it's really cool. And and this
- 3:10Speaker 1: is my closet. It's it's a walk in closet because
- 3:13Speaker 1: growing up, I think my closet stopped about here, but
- 3:16Speaker 1: now I can actually walk back about twenty ft to
- 3:20Speaker 1: actually have a closet with some some good space. Don't
- 3:24Speaker 1: get a big closet because it's actually I don't even
- 3:27Speaker 1: use a lot of the things in here, A lot
- 3:29Speaker 1: of shoes and stuff like, I just don't use it.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I got my affirmations, my twelve month ago affirmations on
- 3:35Speaker 1: the on the wall. I gotta get five million in
- 3:38Speaker 1: the bank or my Facebook accounts see my family and
- 3:41Speaker 1: friends more because I don't see them much. I gotta
- 3:43Speaker 1: sell two projects. I gotta released four new songs. I
- 3:46Speaker 1: gotta reinvest in crypto. I got a lot of things
- 3:49Speaker 1: that I have to do. Uh, let me see there's
- 3:51Speaker 1: anything on here that's believable. I gotta get my podcast
- 3:54Speaker 1: to a hundred thousand. I gotta direct four projects. And
- 3:57Speaker 1: I gotta win an Emmy Award because I only have
- 3:59Speaker 1: a nomination there. So that's that's my actual goals on
- 4:02Speaker 1: the window as we work our way to this bathroom here.
- 4:05Speaker 1: This bathroom right here is the only bathroom place in
- 4:08Speaker 1: my house that has color. So I decided to make
- 4:12Speaker 1: it every color in the rainbow without saying gay. I
- 4:16Speaker 1: love gay, but I didn't want it to be gay.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I wanted to be like colorful, you know what I'm saying.
- 4:21Speaker 1: And this is what I came up with. When I
- 4:24Speaker 1: put every color in this bathroom right here, I thought
- 4:27Speaker 1: it was pretty damn cool. Then across adjacent to this,
- 4:30Speaker 1: right across from there, you have the theater. So if
- 4:34Speaker 1: you step into the theater room, uh, you gotta have
- 4:37Speaker 1: a theater. So I decided to make this just in
- 4:40Speaker 1: case I want to make some premiers or something. So
- 4:42Speaker 1: I put a theater upstairs with a couple of shows
- 4:45Speaker 1: that I did on the walls there. I thought that
- 4:47Speaker 1: was pretty cool. This is a really important room because
- 4:50Speaker 1: this room right here is every prop that we pretty
- 4:54Speaker 1: much use. I gotta needify it. But we have everything
- 4:58Speaker 1: from choir outfits to ban outfits. We have every mask
- 5:03Speaker 1: you can think of, every color wig that you can
- 5:05Speaker 1: think of, every hat, every top, we have cop outfits.
- 5:09Speaker 1: We have tactical wear. We have skeletons, everything that you
- 5:13Speaker 1: need for any type of comedy sketch that we collected
- 5:16Speaker 1: over the years. We put them all into this this
- 5:18Speaker 1: this closet right here. So that's basically I don't go
- 5:21Speaker 1: to party city anymore. I just go into this closet
- 5:24Speaker 1: if I need something for a sketch. I think I'm
- 5:27Speaker 1: gonna expand a little more when I get a chance.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And uh, thanks for coming to my Oh one more thing.
- 5:33Speaker 1: When you get a house, you've gotta have a book
- 5:35Speaker 1: that you can pull that leads you into a club room. Right,
- 5:39Speaker 1: so this is my uh I like to call this
- 5:42Speaker 1: the boom Boom room, and this is where we have
- 5:46Speaker 1: the pole and the things that go down. Whenever you
- 5:49Speaker 1: get a home of your own. Yeah, so you gotta
- 5:54Speaker 1: have a bone bone room. I don't even know you
- 5:56Speaker 1: had this. I can't believe this a theater, a secret room,
- 6:00Speaker 1: and all I do is push weights in your backyard.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I would have been brought you upstairs. I don't even
- 6:07Speaker 1: use the rooms in here. I told you I only
- 6:08Speaker 1: use temper Center the house. We only watched two movies
- 6:11Speaker 1: in there. I definitely don't use the boom boom room
- 6:14Speaker 1: unless someone wants to come in and spend on the poe.
- 6:15Speaker 1: You want to spend on the boat? No, I'm good,
- 6:17Speaker 1: I'm good, But I want you to cook something to
- 6:19Speaker 1: eat and tell us some of this behind the scenes
- 6:21Speaker 1: of how you acquired all this. So why can you know?
- 6:23Speaker 1: Maybe howse sit sometimes? Come on, you should have said
- 6:29Speaker 1: it to that camera camera. Welcome to another episode of
- 6:35Speaker 1: Eating While Broke. Today we decided to step outside of
- 6:38Speaker 1: the podcast studio and into someone's house. Whose house they
- 6:42Speaker 1: Storm Power's House, entrepreneurs, social media mogul. Here we are
- 6:46Speaker 1: about to eat probably one of the brokest dishes of
- 6:49Speaker 1: the season. So the broker the dish, probably the better
- 6:52Speaker 1: the story. So the question is, day Storm, what are
- 6:55Speaker 1: you gonna have us eating today? I'm gonna have us
- 6:57Speaker 1: eating syrup soudes. Now, there's a science to the syrup sundwich.
- 7:01Speaker 1: It has two ingredients. So you have your bread. This
- 7:05Speaker 1: is for you, thank you, This is for me than
- 7:10Speaker 1: we in the hood now right, yeah, and a mansion
- 7:12Speaker 1: in the hood we share and you have your syrup. Okay,
- 7:15Speaker 1: that's it. So do you want me to make yeah?
- 7:18Speaker 1: Make one? Okay, this is how you make a syrup
- 7:20Speaker 1: sundwich here I thought we would need. How you're done, Damn,
- 7:25Speaker 1: I'm very impressed with your that's it. So now you
- 7:27Speaker 1: just folded. I'll make me one bone like that, and
- 7:31Speaker 1: you you do, you do this angle? You can. But
- 7:34Speaker 1: what I do is I just take it and I
- 7:36Speaker 1: just you folded a half. We don't get two pieces
- 7:38Speaker 1: of bread. No, because you have family. Family has to
- 7:41Speaker 1: eat too. Don't be standy. So you take it, you
- 7:44Speaker 1: fold it in a half. Yeah, and then and then
- 7:47Speaker 1: you eat it. Yeah, you eat it from the back
- 7:50Speaker 1: because you've got to save the ends for dinner. Is
- 7:55Speaker 1: this real? You save the ends for dinner? Yeah, well
- 7:59Speaker 1: you can just you can just feel them off. Some
- 8:00Speaker 1: people just like to put its pretty good because the
- 8:03Speaker 1: ends are different. They have a different flavor to them,
- 8:06Speaker 1: you know. So you pick the edges and that's like
- 8:08Speaker 1: a totally different meal. Maybe if the middle is too sweet,
- 8:11Speaker 1: maybe you use it to like soften the blow up
- 8:14Speaker 1: the sweetness. No, because you just take the sweetness. I mean,
- 8:17Speaker 1: look how the food comber. So therefore you don't have
- 8:21Speaker 1: to worry about eating in the next day. Oh my god,
- 8:25Speaker 1: that's a lot. I don't even I can't believe you
- 8:27Speaker 1: just to eat this. It's crazy. I'm sorry. I don't
- 8:31Speaker 1: know if it's just too much syrup, but I'm surprised
- 8:34Speaker 1: you made it to live. So that's where didn't this
- 8:44Speaker 1: dish come from? Like what happened? What was going on
- 8:46Speaker 1: at the time when you guys were consuming dinner ends?
- 8:50Speaker 1: I think I think what happens is you run out
- 8:51Speaker 1: of food. So that's where it starts. Know what? Um
- 8:56Speaker 1: So we ran out of food and my mother knew
- 8:58Speaker 1: someone who worked at the super market. At most supermarkets
- 9:01Speaker 1: around the country, what they do with the bread that
- 9:03Speaker 1: they don't usually throw it out, So because she had
- 9:06Speaker 1: to connect, they would throw the bread out behind the supermarket.
- 9:09Speaker 1: So we would just go and get the left over
- 9:10Speaker 1: bread and then the certain we could just get that
- 9:12Speaker 1: from McDonald's. We could get that from you know, KFC
- 9:16Speaker 1: or any place. You know they have little surf packets.
- 9:18Speaker 1: So do you take the serve package with the with
- 9:20Speaker 1: the leftover bread, You've got something ill storm you were
- 9:24Speaker 1: seriously that broke obviously, I mean, yeah, you know, how
- 9:27Speaker 1: do you come from syrup sandwiches to please? Can I
- 9:33Speaker 1: move in with you? It sounds amazing. This is just
- 9:37Speaker 1: for the set a lot. It was just a lot
- 9:43Speaker 1: of work, a lot of a lot of faith, a
- 9:44Speaker 1: lot of work. And I had a plan hit it
- 9:46Speaker 1: all in my head. You had a plan. But in
- 9:48Speaker 1: that environment, sitting there with your siblings, how many siblings
- 9:51Speaker 1: did you have? I have seven siblings, so there's eight
- 9:53Speaker 1: of us, and so was my mother. The eight of us,
- 9:57Speaker 1: my two cousins. My cousin had a child, so it's
- 10:00Speaker 1: about thirteen of us in one So one loaf of
- 10:04Speaker 1: bread last, one meal. I would assume dinner, we grab
- 10:07Speaker 1: a couple of loaves and if he was lucky to
- 10:09Speaker 1: get some bagels bagels last, because they thinker you get
- 10:13Speaker 1: the bagels, bagels more dents. So if you get if
- 10:16Speaker 1: you get the bagels, good for two days. What I
- 10:18Speaker 1: love about your story is the fact that I can
- 10:22Speaker 1: honestly say I was never this broke, and the fact
- 10:26Speaker 1: that in your house, I'm assuming, did you guys see
- 10:28Speaker 1: yourselves as poor or broke? No, it was cool and
- 10:31Speaker 1: it was cool. We didn't. I think I think it's
- 10:33Speaker 1: about who your parents is, right. My mother and never
- 10:35Speaker 1: let us realized we were broke, because she would go
- 10:38Speaker 1: to the drift stores and get us like a little
- 10:40Speaker 1: puzzles and things to keep us busy while she would
- 10:42Speaker 1: work in things. So we would have little odd jobs
- 10:45Speaker 1: here and there, and she just kept us busy with
- 10:47Speaker 1: what we did. So we never even thought about it
- 10:50Speaker 1: being broke until someone like you brought it up there
- 10:51Speaker 1: and this was the del I'm sorry, this was this
- 10:54Speaker 1: is the new pancake dinner. Um, so what was the
- 10:59Speaker 1: last time you eat this day? Um, it's been years.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I haven't had I haven't had bread in in years.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I don't need bread or right or any of that.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Definitely don't need to serve classified. This is unhealthy. This
- 11:12Speaker 1: is very unhealthy. I don't I don't need that all
- 11:14Speaker 1: kind of Once you learn about nutrition, you don't touch
- 11:16Speaker 1: this stuff. But back then you have to survive. You eat.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I take a whole load of I had to. So
- 11:22Speaker 1: when you're eating this, you're saying you knew you always
- 11:25Speaker 1: had a plan. When did that plan hit you? I
- 11:28Speaker 1: think the plan hit me when I um me and
- 11:30Speaker 1: my brothers put it. We had a song that hit
- 11:32Speaker 1: the radio in Baltimore, and we did in Bostibore. They
- 11:35Speaker 1: have their own thing. They have club music. It's like
- 11:36Speaker 1: DC has Gogol Music and Chicago has their own music.
- 11:39Speaker 1: So we had made a song and it hit the
- 11:41Speaker 1: radio and I knew. My mother said, wow, if you
- 11:43Speaker 1: even make it, heaven think it anyway, go to New
- 11:44Speaker 1: York and then we do a little party and then
- 11:46Speaker 1: I just packed up you know the clips that we
- 11:49Speaker 1: all pitched in for, and I joke to New York. Um,
- 11:51Speaker 1: it was scary, but I knew. I knew once I
- 11:54Speaker 1: got because I knew this one. I was doing all
- 11:56Speaker 1: these jobs. I was doing forty fifty drops with different
- 11:58Speaker 1: DJs around the treat. This is when the internet was
- 12:01Speaker 1: like brand new. And then this dude he worked over
- 12:05Speaker 1: and I think Bad Boy Records, and he was like,
- 12:07Speaker 1: YEO want you to come out to New York And
- 12:08Speaker 1: so I said, I believe them. So I kind of
- 12:11Speaker 1: drove out to New York. I just took the drove.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I drove to Harlem when I was like eighteen years old.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I'm guessing you didn't have a lot of money. I
- 12:17Speaker 1: don't have any money, So you drive there, you have
- 12:19Speaker 1: enough to pay for gas. I had enough to pay
- 12:22Speaker 1: for gas and um, so when I got there, UM,
- 12:25Speaker 1: there was this website called sublet dot com. So when
- 12:28Speaker 1: sublet dot com, I was leasing out this crackheads bedroom.
- 12:32Speaker 1: She was she was cracking and all, and she would
- 12:35Speaker 1: lease out of bar room. But she had a pimp.
- 12:37Speaker 1: So eventually I wasn't able to pay his rent. So
- 12:39Speaker 1: the pimp came to the door and he kicked me
- 12:41Speaker 1: out of her apartment. So then eventually I had to
- 12:43Speaker 1: live in my car. So then from my car, I
- 12:47Speaker 1: was and I was singing in the subway for money.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So you know in New York, you know, you know,
- 12:52Speaker 1: I know the hustle. Yeah, So I was singing the
- 12:54Speaker 1: subway and wrapping the subway so they would put money
- 12:56Speaker 1: in my hat. So I and I would use that
- 12:59Speaker 1: money to eat it too, paper gas because I needed heat,
- 13:01Speaker 1: and the eating the car because the wintertime. Yeah, and
- 13:03Speaker 1: winners in New York, you know. Joke. So did you
- 13:06Speaker 1: ever apply at some point of Duscher measures? I always
- 13:09Speaker 1: think this as a homeless person, like in New York,
- 13:11Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, I'm gonna just try to go to
- 13:12Speaker 1: jail for the winter. Maybe, I don't know, because I
- 13:17Speaker 1: had to be free so I could kind of so
- 13:20Speaker 1: I could kind of like make moves, make move, make moves,
- 13:22Speaker 1: so to make moves. So because I was working at
- 13:25Speaker 1: Red Lobster as well. I was working at Red Lobster
- 13:27Speaker 1: Times Square to fresciate it opened up because I had
- 13:30Speaker 1: a job every I had thirty jobs, by the way,
- 13:32Speaker 1: and and one of my jobs Red Lobster when I
- 13:34Speaker 1: was in Maryland Baltimore, and they transferred my my job
- 13:38Speaker 1: over to New York. But I lost that job the
- 13:41Speaker 1: first week I was there because I had braids in
- 13:44Speaker 1: my hair and the management racist, yes, short and sweet,
- 13:48Speaker 1: you were like, I'm not cutting my brains. Like no,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I was. You know I couldn't. We all read the Bible.
- 13:53Speaker 1: We can't cut your hair. That's your power. So I
- 13:55Speaker 1: didn't cut my hair. And I lost my job at
- 13:58Speaker 1: Red Lobster that year, and and um with my last check,
- 14:01Speaker 1: I brought amp. I bought that microphone. I brought two
- 14:05Speaker 1: outfits because you know, in New York you have to
- 14:07Speaker 1: look good. I brought the two outfits. I brought some
- 14:10Speaker 1: tents for the windows of the car that I had,
- 14:13Speaker 1: and what else on, and brought some CDs so I
- 14:16Speaker 1: burned all my demos onto CDs. I tended the windows
- 14:19Speaker 1: on my car myself. I brought the amp and the
- 14:21Speaker 1: keyboard so I could sing in the subways. And I
- 14:23Speaker 1: brought the two outfits so I could look good. So
- 14:25Speaker 1: you were prepared. I was prepared. Oh and I paid
- 14:27Speaker 1: my cellphone bill for two months because I say that
- 14:29Speaker 1: if I don't do this in sixty days, my mom
- 14:30Speaker 1: was gonna kill me. So she would call me and
- 14:32Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, Mom would did it right now? I
- 14:34Speaker 1: didn't know, did it? You just didn't want to stress
- 14:36Speaker 1: her out. Didn't want stress her out because she had
- 14:38Speaker 1: things to take care of. So I thought I was
- 14:40Speaker 1: killing the New York. I was homeless, so I'm in
- 14:41Speaker 1: New York singing in the subways and everything. Then one
- 14:43Speaker 1: day I came home and my car was burned down.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I guess had electrical fire or something like that. Everything
- 14:48Speaker 1: I owned was in that car. So eventually I had
- 14:50Speaker 1: to actually live in the subway stations, and I had
- 14:53Speaker 1: to do that for my forty five days or so.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Damn that tough. At that point, did you at least think, mmmm,
- 15:01Speaker 1: maybe it's something to go pack up and go back
- 15:03Speaker 1: to Baltimore. Yeah, I did. Um And and when I
- 15:07Speaker 1: got to the moment where I thought I'd go back
- 15:09Speaker 1: to Baltimore, I remember I had these bags around my
- 15:11Speaker 1: feet and I was walking through the snow, and I
- 15:13Speaker 1: was like, damn, I'm gonna call my brother and tell
- 15:14Speaker 1: him I didn't make it in New York, even though
- 15:16Speaker 1: I was lying to them the whole time. So when
- 15:18Speaker 1: I went to make a telephone call to call my brother,
- 15:20Speaker 1: I'm calling him up. And I remember when I'm singing
- 15:23Speaker 1: the subway, people give me their cards and stuff. So
- 15:25Speaker 1: when I went to make the car, one of the
- 15:27Speaker 1: cards that they gave me fall in the snow. I
- 15:29Speaker 1: picked up the car and I'm like, should I call
- 15:31Speaker 1: number on this card or should I or should I
- 15:35Speaker 1: just call my brother? Said I'm I'm gonna calling number
- 15:38Speaker 1: on the card. I'm already here. So I called him
- 15:40Speaker 1: on the card and this Dominican girl answers the phone.
- 15:42Speaker 1: It's like, oh my goodness, oh my girl, yo yo.
- 15:44Speaker 1: My boss loves them always dope you. And I'm lying
- 15:47Speaker 1: to her. I was like, well, if your boss let
- 15:49Speaker 1: my demo telling me, you pull up on me right now,
- 15:51Speaker 1: because I got these inter Music Universal records. I was lying,
- 15:53Speaker 1: but I can tell by her enthusiasm that she was serious.
- 15:56Speaker 1: So she said, no, no, let me put him on
- 15:58Speaker 1: the phone, so she put Jonathan on the phone. He
- 16:00Speaker 1: gets on the phone. He's like, Yo, day starm I
- 16:02Speaker 1: love your ship man. What's you come on down to
- 16:04Speaker 1: my my my joint? And I was like, yeah, I'll
- 16:06Speaker 1: come down there right now. He was like, I'm going
- 16:08Speaker 1: to the Hamptons. And I was like, well, you know,
- 16:10Speaker 1: I got these meetings over at Jake Records. I'm lying again.
- 16:14Speaker 1: He was like, no, come down here right now. I
- 16:15Speaker 1: didn't have money to get on the subway, so I
- 16:17Speaker 1: jumped the turnstyle. I caught the train down to the
- 16:19Speaker 1: Lower east Side. And when I get to his place,
- 16:21Speaker 1: he plaques all over his walls and everything, and he's like, yo, man,
- 16:25Speaker 1: I can get you drops on m t V, V,
- 16:27Speaker 1: H Want and b TV. I can get you right
- 16:28Speaker 1: for these arts. And I knew he was serious because
- 16:30Speaker 1: of the work that he had around. I was like,
- 16:32Speaker 1: all right, look, gonna be honest with you, John, to look,
- 16:35Speaker 1: I'm broke. I've been living on the street for like
- 16:37Speaker 1: forty five days. Did you at least you know? On
- 16:41Speaker 1: the course. So what I did like to shower in Macy's.
- 16:44Speaker 1: So I would take a shower in Macy's and then
- 16:46Speaker 1: how did you Because you wanted the sinks, you know,
- 16:49Speaker 1: they got to sing, you know, you clean up or whatever.
- 16:52Speaker 1: And then I would, you know, with a little bit
- 16:54Speaker 1: of money I made, sometimes I buy stuff. Well I
- 16:56Speaker 1: just used the five thing of discount and just you know,
- 16:58Speaker 1: get a couple of T shirts or whatever, and to
- 17:00Speaker 1: do what I had to do to get new outfits
- 17:02Speaker 1: so I look fresh. So he was like, no, you
- 17:04Speaker 1: look good. I was like, no, I've been on the
- 17:06Speaker 1: streets because you know, you gotta look good. So then
- 17:09Speaker 1: I was like, ye, look, I'll be honest with you
- 17:10Speaker 1: if you can. If you cut me in check right now,
- 17:13Speaker 1: I'll work for you and you get me off the
- 17:15Speaker 1: streets or whatever, and I'll give you what you need.
- 17:17Speaker 1: So he cut me in check, and eventually I went
- 17:19Speaker 1: from my hostel to an apartment, to um Aloft to
- 17:23Speaker 1: you know, working my way up. I started getting place
- 17:26Speaker 1: in some beach one MTV and I worked over the Universal,
- 17:28Speaker 1: went to Jay Records. From Jay, I went to Atlantic
- 17:31Speaker 1: I met with in Houston and J Records and Jeff Finster. Yeah,
- 17:34Speaker 1: so um wrote three songs that she never used. By
- 17:36Speaker 1: the way, Um, then I'm going to Atlantic Record. Did
- 17:39Speaker 1: you at least get to hear them. I got to
- 17:41Speaker 1: meet her and everything. Yeah, she said she started she
- 17:44Speaker 1: I met her everything, you know. So um So then
- 17:47Speaker 1: from there I went over to Atlantic Records, where I
- 17:49Speaker 1: wrote for a few hours and ghost right over here
- 17:51Speaker 1: for about two years. And then, um, I, uh, the
- 17:54Speaker 1: music slow, so I slow down because back then you
- 17:56Speaker 1: were a ghostwriter. So what I did was I all
- 18:00Speaker 1: the while I was running track and things like that.
- 18:02Speaker 1: So I got my certifications from Prepostnado. I got my
- 18:06Speaker 1: A C s M, I got my INN A s M.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Nastities are physical personal training on certifications, so you're always hustling, Yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 1: the personal trainer on the side, just in case the
- 18:14Speaker 1: music wasn't selling. So then I started a boot camp
- 18:16Speaker 1: in Brooklyn and I would train like fifties a hundred
- 18:18Speaker 1: people in the park in Brooklyn Park. And I was
- 18:20Speaker 1: working at the Crunch Fitness New York Sports Club. And
- 18:23Speaker 1: I was just doing different jobs in New York so
- 18:26Speaker 1: that I can kind of build my empire. Wow, what's
- 18:30Speaker 1: the craziest job you've ever had? Um? I was. I
- 18:34Speaker 1: was a stripper for a while when I was in
- 18:37Speaker 1: college and then but I would say the craziest job
- 18:39Speaker 1: I was an escort. So that was crazy because the demolition, construction, telemarketing. Um,
- 18:44Speaker 1: I had about thirty jobs. So I have to circle
- 18:47Speaker 1: back to the escorting, Like what's the craziest escorting story?
- 18:50Speaker 1: Do you have one? Um? Yeah, So when I was
- 18:55Speaker 1: an escort, Uh, it was a lot of It was
- 18:58Speaker 1: a bunch of old, rich white women, right, and they
- 19:00Speaker 1: didn't want to like can I curse? Curse? Okay, So
- 19:03Speaker 1: they didn't want to suck you, right, They just wanted
- 19:04Speaker 1: to kind of like just have company, right, I just
- 19:06Speaker 1: want a good company. I didn't really sleep with the
- 19:08Speaker 1: clients or whatever. And my pan was like this girl
- 19:10Speaker 1: she was like nineteen or whatever, and she was like,
- 19:12Speaker 1: you know she was a girl. Yeah, yeah, she was
- 19:15Speaker 1: making sure we worked. She's my friend. She was making
- 19:18Speaker 1: sure that we have worked. So I went to this
- 19:19Speaker 1: one woman's house and I guess she was about sixty,
- 19:22Speaker 1: I don't know. And I was so I was young
- 19:23Speaker 1: back then. She's like fifties, I guess, I don't know.
- 19:26Speaker 1: She felt old. And when I when I got to
- 19:29Speaker 1: her house, she um, she was like, he know, your
- 19:32Speaker 1: outfits upstairs in the closet, And I was like, my
- 19:34Speaker 1: outfits upstairs in the closet, so she was like yeah.
- 19:36Speaker 1: So she was sitting there with her wine in her hands.
- 19:38Speaker 1: She's sitting back like this and ship. And I'm like,
- 19:40Speaker 1: we even the outfits upstairs in the closet and then
- 19:42Speaker 1: just like go upstairs in the in the closet in
- 19:45Speaker 1: your office. So I ro was up to the top
- 19:46Speaker 1: of stairs. She lived in this mansion of ship. So
- 19:48Speaker 1: I got up to the top of the stairs and
- 19:49Speaker 1: when I opened the closet or whatever, there was a
- 19:51Speaker 1: panda outfit. So I had to wear a panda outfit
- 19:55Speaker 1: with the it was so fucked up, So I had
- 19:57Speaker 1: to wear a panta outfit with the mid section dog.
- 19:59Speaker 1: So like my dick's out and I'm just like staying
- 20:02Speaker 1: just like dancing in front of her, you know what
- 20:04Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like, and she's just sitting up there and
- 20:06Speaker 1: just enjoying it, like, yeah, my husband doesn't have one.
- 20:09Speaker 1: And then she was just like, man, it was like
- 20:13Speaker 1: it was a it was a thing. Was that like
- 20:15Speaker 1: one of your last escort sessions? No? No, I think
- 20:18Speaker 1: my last one was after this woman blindfolded me. And
- 20:21Speaker 1: then so I see her at the door and she
- 20:22Speaker 1: puts a blindfold on me. I turned around and what
- 20:24Speaker 1: backwards into her house and ship. She lays down, ladies
- 20:28Speaker 1: me down on the bed and she starts reading me
- 20:30Speaker 1: like children's stories and ship. Oh yeah, I think that would.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I was. I was. I was, really, you know, So
- 20:40Speaker 1: how do you go from all these experiences and hitting
- 20:44Speaker 1: these little bomps side hustling and still saying, Okay, I'm
- 20:48Speaker 1: gonna keep going. Motivation? You know, Like, I think what
- 20:52Speaker 1: motivated me was seeing what my mother went through, and
- 20:55Speaker 1: I'm like, if she could take care of like twelve
- 20:57Speaker 1: people and she didn't complain once. I never seen someone
- 21:00Speaker 1: ever not complained like this woman. And she loved life.
- 21:04Speaker 1: She would just have fun. Well, we're gonna have fun.
- 21:06Speaker 1: All of us is gonna go out. She never was like,
- 21:08Speaker 1: oh my god, the bills are not paid and we
- 21:10Speaker 1: were moving. I went to five elementary schools, four middle schools,
- 21:13Speaker 1: to high schools, so you gotta think we were getting
- 21:15Speaker 1: evicted so much growing up. I mean, I never knew.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I dropped down to school in ninth grade. I didn't
- 21:22Speaker 1: even finish high school. I didn't do champ leven twelve.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I went back to go to college when I got
- 21:26Speaker 1: my g D and I got a free ride because
- 21:28Speaker 1: I was a sprinter. But I did never even finished
- 21:31Speaker 1: high school, don't even I don't even did prom or anything.
- 21:33Speaker 1: But she we were getting evicted the whole time, and
- 21:36Speaker 1: we thought that we would just move into a better place.
- 21:38Speaker 1: She's like, we moving again. Yeah, yeah, We're like, oh,
- 21:41Speaker 1: we moving again. She made it a moment instead of
- 21:44Speaker 1: making it the opposite, because most people will take that
- 21:47Speaker 1: experience and be like, oh man, we're getting kicked out.
- 21:49Speaker 1: She's like, we get to go and get some new
- 21:51Speaker 1: walls to draw one because every time when we get
- 21:53Speaker 1: a new place, I draw mirrors on the wall. I
- 21:54Speaker 1: was an artist, like all the paintings in my house.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I did most of the paintings, and like that one,
- 21:59Speaker 1: the one behind us, these paintings I did. My mother
- 22:01Speaker 1: knew that I loved art, and she just sit here
- 22:04Speaker 1: just drawing the walls. We're gonna be out here in
- 22:06Speaker 1: a few months anyway. So I would draw murals on
- 22:08Speaker 1: the walls, and eventually that paid off because by time
- 22:10Speaker 1: I was sixteen seventeen years old, I would get a
- 22:12Speaker 1: few hundred bucks, maybe a thousand bucks here and there
- 22:14Speaker 1: to actually draw in churches and the mosques and synagogues,
- 22:17Speaker 1: to draw like you know, the Last Supper and things
- 22:20Speaker 1: on walls and things so all that kind of like
- 22:22Speaker 1: just growing up. She would keep us busy and active
- 22:25Speaker 1: with what we did. So we never like we would
- 22:27Speaker 1: build forts and you know like mahm, I we get
- 22:30Speaker 1: no furnaces like brought sheets, just built forts, you know,
- 22:32Speaker 1: so we would do she would. She was just clever.
- 22:35Speaker 1: She was the perfect like mother. You know. So I
- 22:38Speaker 1: always do life. I just feel like I'm gonna figure
- 22:39Speaker 1: it out. I don't care what goes wrong. I'm gonna
- 22:42Speaker 1: look at what goes right and then I'm gonna figure
- 22:44Speaker 1: out how to make it work, you know, no matter
- 22:46Speaker 1: who I'm with, whether I mean, I've injured myself this
- 22:49Speaker 1: that another, And I remember when I broke my knee
- 22:51Speaker 1: and the doctor told me, he said, you'll never even
- 22:54Speaker 1: walk properly again. And you've seen me. You work out
- 22:56Speaker 1: with me, I'm jumping out, spreading, dunking basketballs out with you.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I don't let you know. So when she she was,
- 23:05Speaker 1: she had that same attitude. And although she didn't have
- 23:07Speaker 1: the business mind behind it like I do have, she
- 23:10Speaker 1: had the attitude that lets you know that I'm we're
- 23:12Speaker 1: going to be unstoppable, you know, and I think that's
- 23:14Speaker 1: very important. So now you've been around as an entrepreneur
- 23:20Speaker 1: and a social media mogal forever, it seems I feel
- 23:23Speaker 1: like every time a new platform comes out, you're like
- 23:26Speaker 1: so versatile. You literally, I, for lack of better word,
- 23:31Speaker 1: I feel like birth millionaires, like everyone in your circle,
- 23:34Speaker 1: you played a tremendous role in their success. So my
- 23:38Speaker 1: question is is how are you able to keep keep
- 23:41Speaker 1: transitioning every time something new new happens them? So, I
- 23:45Speaker 1: know I'm getting older, you know what I'm saying, I'm
- 23:48Speaker 1: them at forty, So like what so, what what I'm
- 23:51Speaker 1: gonna do is I find new people, new talent, and
- 23:54Speaker 1: then they're going to keep your name a lot, you
- 23:56Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. It's almost like the Gospel and
- 23:59Speaker 1: people continue to talk about Jesus, Jesus gonna be main Jesus,
- 24:02Speaker 1: you know. So I look at it like that. Every
- 24:04Speaker 1: time I find someone new that's talented, I don't want
- 24:07Speaker 1: to be your manager. I don't want to be your agent.
- 24:09Speaker 1: If we're cool and we get along, I'm your friend
- 24:12Speaker 1: and it's a real friendship. You know what I'm saying.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I don't want anything from you and return. I already
- 24:16Speaker 1: know that if you I culdate a real friendship and
- 24:18Speaker 1: I made more millionaires than a lot of the like
- 24:20Speaker 1: Jay Z said, right, that's just what it is. So
- 24:23Speaker 1: tons of millionaires. And what I do is if they're
- 24:26Speaker 1: my friends. People going to have interviews with these successful people,
- 24:29Speaker 1: They're gonna sit at eating while broke and they're going
- 24:32Speaker 1: I was like, damn, you were like, yeah, how did
- 24:33Speaker 1: you get your start? They're like, oh yeah, they storm
- 24:35Speaker 1: helping me out. You know, he was the first thing
- 24:37Speaker 1: that kind of helped me get it to it. So
- 24:38Speaker 1: they keep my name alive. And at the end of
- 24:40Speaker 1: the day, if you're managing someone taking right, I can't
- 24:45Speaker 1: afford their rates anymore. Man technically I could, but I'm
- 24:48Speaker 1: not gonna pay them hundreds of thousand dollars post right.
- 24:51Speaker 1: They're going to post about it for free. If I
- 24:53Speaker 1: come out with a food company, if I come out
- 24:55Speaker 1: with a clothing brand, if I come out with new music,
- 24:58Speaker 1: all my friends that have helped becomes a scessible. They're
- 25:00Speaker 1: going to show love because I showed them love. Now,
- 25:03Speaker 1: how are you able to like when you look at
- 25:06Speaker 1: how many platforms do you transition from you went from YouTube,
- 25:10Speaker 1: started my space, YouTube to YouTube ye ye to Instagram TikTok,
- 25:18Speaker 1: But you remain I would like to say, in the
- 25:21Speaker 1: world of like boxing, it would be like you remain undefeated.
- 25:24Speaker 1: You're always at the top. How are you able to
- 25:27Speaker 1: transition and choose the platform? I think I think what
- 25:29Speaker 1: it is is a lot of people don't realize that
- 25:32Speaker 1: there's a different audience on every platform. And although I'm
- 25:35Speaker 1: not the biggest on any platform, um one of the
- 25:39Speaker 1: best on every platform, if that makes sense. And you're
- 25:41Speaker 1: the most consistent, and I try to stay consistent, right
- 25:44Speaker 1: because on every platform there's a different audience. Like my
- 25:48Speaker 1: YouTube audience don't even know that I do. They know
- 25:50Speaker 1: me for my music, they don't even know that do
- 25:52Speaker 1: comedy sketches. I'll do comedy like this is terrible, you know. Yeah,
- 25:56Speaker 1: I've been doing this for years, bro. So when I
- 25:58Speaker 1: realized that years ago, I said, they're not coming out
- 26:00Speaker 1: of YouTube, the people on Instagram and not leaving Instagram, Well, lazy,
- 26:04Speaker 1: then I'm going to leave that platform. So I said, well,
- 26:06Speaker 1: then I'm just gonna have to grow in every platform.
- 26:09Speaker 1: So I'll just make sure I grow on Facebook. I'll
- 26:11Speaker 1: make sure I grow in Instagram and make sure I'll
- 26:12Speaker 1: grow on YouTube. And sometimes I'll just cross reference and
- 26:16Speaker 1: just put the same content on some But for the
- 26:17Speaker 1: most part, I try to say, what's the best thing
- 26:19Speaker 1: I need to do for YouTube, what's the best thing
- 26:21Speaker 1: I need to do for Facebook, What's the best thing
- 26:23Speaker 1: I need to do for Instagram? Because they're different worlds.
- 26:26Speaker 1: My YouTube content is not like my Instagram content because
- 26:29Speaker 1: YouTube is more of a cold following the people that
- 26:32Speaker 1: really like involved. Instagram is more like universal, you just
- 26:36Speaker 1: have everybody there. Facebook is like more family oriented, right,
- 26:39Speaker 1: It's like that's the people's from back in school and everything.
- 26:41Speaker 1: So you once you learn who the audience is, you
- 26:44Speaker 1: make the content for the audience. And how are you
- 26:45Speaker 1: able to depict that? Like, say, for instance, let's choose Vine. Okay,
- 26:49Speaker 1: how are you able You you killed Vine, and I
- 26:52Speaker 1: know there's an amazing backstory that you know, I want
- 26:54Speaker 1: everybody to hear about, um, but you killed line. But
- 26:58Speaker 1: how are you able to pinpoint that audience and cultivate
- 27:01Speaker 1: an amazing elite group of talented individuals. But I think
- 27:05Speaker 1: for me it was it was high schoolers, juniors and
- 27:08Speaker 1: seniors will are the people who decide what's the dope.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I don't care what anyone says. That's because you have
- 27:15Speaker 1: to understand freshman and sophomores want to be like juniors
- 27:19Speaker 1: and seniors once. Once you're finished being a senior in
- 27:23Speaker 1: high school, you go to college and life hits you.
- 27:25Speaker 1: You have to get a job, you have to do that,
- 27:26Speaker 1: you have to do the other. When you're in middle school,
- 27:28Speaker 1: you still trying to figure it out. Elementary school doesn't
- 27:30Speaker 1: really count, and once you've grown, you don't really count.
- 27:33Speaker 1: You're just doing what's hot. But when you're a junior
- 27:35Speaker 1: and you're senior in high school, that's the moment of
- 27:38Speaker 1: life when everything is just cool. You just don't want
- 27:41Speaker 1: it because it's fucking cool. You don't care, You don't
- 27:43Speaker 1: really have too many responsibilities. You do, but you don't. Right.
- 27:47Speaker 1: So I've seen what the juniors and seniors on. When
- 27:49Speaker 1: Vine came out, I was like, you know at the time,
- 27:51Speaker 1: and I was like, oh my god, Like the kids
- 27:52Speaker 1: are really on you know that. You know, they're on
- 27:55Speaker 1: this app not just because it's popular, but because it's cool.
- 27:59Speaker 1: They just love using it. So whenever they're doing I'm
- 28:02Speaker 1: like all right, I gotta kind of like get involved
- 28:04Speaker 1: and see what they're on. Yeah. So I would say
- 28:08Speaker 1: that juniors and seniors to me are tricky audience because
- 28:11Speaker 1: unlike elementaries kids that just buy into whatever Elmo, whatever
- 28:15Speaker 1: you put in front of them, middle schoolers that are
- 28:17Speaker 1: still trying to figure it out, and then everybody else
- 28:19Speaker 1: that's looking up to the junior and seniors, juniors and
- 28:21Speaker 1: seniors kind of know their power and they're like, don't
- 28:24Speaker 1: try to sell me this. I'm gonna find the crack
- 28:26Speaker 1: in the covie and the jay Z under the rock in. Yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 1: they're like the Nike, Like Nike always signed someone before
- 28:33Speaker 1: they propped there like oh right before you pop, here's
- 28:35Speaker 1: this check you know the end. I feel like, how
- 28:39Speaker 1: are you able to say this is the platform that
- 28:43Speaker 1: the juniors and seniors are going to buy into? Do
- 28:45Speaker 1: you wait like a couple of weeks? Because you're on it,
- 28:49Speaker 1: you you kind of can feel it, especially if you've
- 28:51Speaker 1: been doing something for a while. I think one thing
- 28:53Speaker 1: that I've been blessed with is the knock to know
- 28:55Speaker 1: of someone's still. I really feel when I see talent
- 28:59Speaker 1: and a lot of people like we don't see no talent.
- 29:01Speaker 1: How do you see talent that person? I don't know.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I just whether And it's not just the talent to
- 29:06Speaker 1: sing or rapid dance or have a specific skill set.
- 29:09Speaker 1: It's the talent the most I feel the hardest talent
- 29:13Speaker 1: in the world is keeping people's attention. So like if
- 29:16Speaker 1: you look at the Kardashians, for example, I think they're
- 29:18Speaker 1: very talented because a lot of people can't keep people's
- 29:20Speaker 1: attention for a decade just people watching you. You know
- 29:23Speaker 1: what I'm saying, that's very difficult to do. Not a
- 29:26Speaker 1: lot of people might say, oh my god, they don't
- 29:28Speaker 1: do nothing. Yes they do. They got millions of people
- 29:30Speaker 1: just watching you. You know how hard is they have?
- 29:32Speaker 1: People just want to see what you do. And that's
- 29:34Speaker 1: a talent in itself, and they did it for a
- 29:36Speaker 1: long time, but forever, you know what I'm saying. Little here, No, it'swhere, right,
- 29:43Speaker 1: His ass on Instagram is asked, on YouTube, there's asked,
- 29:46Speaker 1: there's free ass on porn hub, right, So it can't
- 29:49Speaker 1: be just the ask right, So it's it's more than
- 29:51Speaker 1: that to be able to keep people's attention. So I
- 29:53Speaker 1: see that in people and I'm like, Wow, this person
- 29:55Speaker 1: can keep my attention because I have a very very
- 29:58Speaker 1: short attentions. Man, if someone keeps my attention, I'm like,
- 30:01Speaker 1: oh my god, then they have it. They have it.
- 30:03Speaker 1: And then if you have an ability to come along
- 30:05Speaker 1: with it, whether you sing or dance or wrapper or
- 30:07Speaker 1: speak or anything, then you're just doubling it down on on.
- 30:12Speaker 1: You're going to be a star, you know, And that's
- 30:13Speaker 1: that's what it is. So I know we got a
- 30:17Speaker 1: wrap up scene. Okay, I have to hit you with
- 30:20Speaker 1: this when it comes to vine, Okay, I want to
- 30:24Speaker 1: hear the rise in the fall. Now we're friends. I've
- 30:27Speaker 1: heard you know some of the behind the scenes when
- 30:30Speaker 1: it came to buying, but I would love it if
- 30:32Speaker 1: you could share how one misstep on UND's behalf took
- 30:38Speaker 1: down an entire platform. So we're vying um. One thing
- 30:42Speaker 1: that we did was I was I was, I was before,
- 30:46Speaker 1: I was before the times. When it comes to short
- 30:48Speaker 1: form comedy and sketches, I was doing short form sketches
- 30:52Speaker 1: on YouTube, like really short form, and no one wanted
- 30:55Speaker 1: to accept it. It was like this is whack. No
- 30:57Speaker 1: one wants to do this, Get out of here. And
- 30:59Speaker 1: I remember my company failed and we lost millions of dollars.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I mean, we did. The companies just flopped and I
- 31:04Speaker 1: was like, wow, like what am I going to do?
- 31:06Speaker 1: But I had already had a lot of people looking
- 31:08Speaker 1: up to me, like you know, it's like this is
- 31:11Speaker 1: what you know we looked up to you. You have.
- 31:13Speaker 1: A company was called Forefront TV like Batch, and we
- 31:17Speaker 1: had like you know, the whole squad was good and
- 31:20Speaker 1: Page Kennedy and all the all of the guys are
- 31:22Speaker 1: mostly the black and brown creators who that you see
- 31:25Speaker 1: today or on the internet. But I was the president
- 31:27Speaker 1: of the company and I kind of felt like I
- 31:29Speaker 1: failed them. One day, I think I saw Kevin Hart
- 31:32Speaker 1: on on Vine and he wasn't doing comedy sketches or anything,
- 31:37Speaker 1: but it was an app that people would do short
- 31:39Speaker 1: selfies to let you know where they were. Type down,
- 31:41Speaker 1: Hey guys, I'm out here this way man. I was like, yo,
- 31:43Speaker 1: suppose we do a sketch in six seconds on the platform.
- 31:49Speaker 1: I said that everybody would watch it and and it'll
- 31:52Speaker 1: be something that's different for the world. So I remember
- 31:56Speaker 1: me Batch, my boy Kane and Small Shepherd. We did
- 31:59Speaker 1: the first actually sketch online and it went super viral,
- 32:04Speaker 1: like world start picked it up. Whole bunch of other
- 32:05Speaker 1: places pick it up, but we did like a sketch.
- 32:07Speaker 1: So then we called ourselves viners, which wasn't a phrase yet.
- 32:11Speaker 1: It was like your way out here vining with the
- 32:12Speaker 1: l A Viners. So then Detroit got involved in New
- 32:15Speaker 1: York and um, you know, Philly and Florida, and then
- 32:18Speaker 1: it became vining became a thing that we kind of created.
- 32:22Speaker 1: So we started vinding and then from there the problem
- 32:26Speaker 1: was as we grew on Vine, we have millions and
- 32:28Speaker 1: millions and millions of fans. Remember even Badget Broke Againness
- 32:31Speaker 1: world record for the most followers of Againness gave him
- 32:33Speaker 1: a black or something right. And then what happened was
- 32:37Speaker 1: I went to Karen over at Vine. That's funny, my
- 32:39Speaker 1: name is Karen, and I said, uh, Karen, because on Vine,
- 32:44Speaker 1: what happens if enough kids flag your content, it automatically
- 32:48Speaker 1: gets pulled down. So I emailed Karen. I said, Karen,
- 32:51Speaker 1: we're the biggest viners in the world, and these kids
- 32:54Speaker 1: are pulling down our content and then it's not inappropriate,
- 32:57Speaker 1: it's appropriate content, but their haters pulling down our content.
- 33:00Speaker 1: We just want an email from you guys. So that
- 33:03Speaker 1: we can contact you and let you know, this is
- 33:05Speaker 1: our content getting pulled down. Can you put it back up?
- 33:07Speaker 1: Because we lose our momentum and this is our job.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Companies are coming to us paying us six figures to
- 33:13Speaker 1: post bones, maybe given a hundred thousand dollars for one
- 33:15Speaker 1: vine just so they can have like a background in it,
- 33:18Speaker 1: or companies like they would just pay you for what though,
- 33:22Speaker 1: to create a six seconds to create a six second company,
- 33:26Speaker 1: whether it was you know, bad just different companies that
- 33:29Speaker 1: was big at the time, or just pay us like
- 33:31Speaker 1: his fifty tho dollars give us six seconds, hundreds give
- 33:34Speaker 1: us six seconds. It was just one of those type
- 33:36Speaker 1: of things, right And at this point they didn't want
- 33:39Speaker 1: to give us that, and we said, we also want
- 33:41Speaker 1: one more thing. We want to be the link out
- 33:43Speaker 1: to our other accounts or whether me, YouTube, Facebook or whatever.
- 33:45Speaker 1: They said no. So I was like, well, we are
- 33:49Speaker 1: the you know, the people are coming to watch us
- 33:53Speaker 1: with the reason that the after lives. She said, you're
- 33:55Speaker 1: the one percent. There's nine percent of people using our platform,
- 33:59Speaker 1: and you are the one percent. We're not going to
- 34:01Speaker 1: do that for you. I said, well, I suppose I
- 34:03Speaker 1: told the one percent to walk. Well, then what are
- 34:06Speaker 1: you gonna do? Well, you tell the one can sit
- 34:07Speaker 1: to walk? We still go, oh, all right, bitch, I'm
- 34:13Speaker 1: gonna call the one percent. So I called up you know,
- 34:16Speaker 1: by a hundred of the top creators in the world
- 34:19Speaker 1: Vine at the time, and I said, oh, We're not
- 34:22Speaker 1: gonna do this no more. Let's go and walk and
- 34:23Speaker 1: go over Instagram. I got fifteen seconds anyway, So we dipped.
- 34:28Speaker 1: And when we dipped, I think the company got fifteen
- 34:30Speaker 1: seconds anyways. Yeah, so when we dipped, the company lost
- 34:34Speaker 1: about sixty percent of their profit in the legend. Within
- 34:37Speaker 1: a week, Vine crashed. I mean you been looking at it,
- 34:40Speaker 1: Remember they lost couple hundred million dollars and they like
- 34:43Speaker 1: fell off. So then Karen calls me up, Hey, thanks
- 34:48Speaker 1: a high. Can I have a meeting with you guys?
- 34:51Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. So we probably met with
- 34:54Speaker 1: Karen on at sixteen hundred Buying Street, which is where
- 34:57Speaker 1: a lot of the Viners stayed. Hilariously, um, and we
- 35:00Speaker 1: set in the conference room myself with twenty other viners,
- 35:03Speaker 1: and I told her in that day, I was like, look,
- 35:05Speaker 1: you know, if we want to continue to use your platform, once,
- 35:08Speaker 1: I want you pay everybody in the room, you know,
- 35:09Speaker 1: a million dollars and I want two million dollars for
- 35:12Speaker 1: for pain and soffer. So um uh. They agreed to
- 35:16Speaker 1: pay all the viners in the room the money, and
- 35:18Speaker 1: we were supposed to post two vines a week to
- 35:22Speaker 1: get the numbers back up. But someone in the room
- 35:25Speaker 1: at the time told fifteen others about the deal, and
- 35:28Speaker 1: those fifteen others wanted moneys too. But it's like, we
- 35:31Speaker 1: don't have forty five million dollars. We got twenty, so
- 35:34Speaker 1: they wasn't able to pay. So no one ever went
- 35:36Speaker 1: back to mind and buying Die damn Karen. So at
- 35:40Speaker 1: one point you didn't mention that like you were you
- 35:43Speaker 1: you were a millionaire, you had success, and then at
- 35:45Speaker 1: one point you lost twice up twice. I remember. I
- 35:49Speaker 1: mean one time I had like seven million dollars on
- 35:51Speaker 1: my account and then I went down like seven seven
- 35:54Speaker 1: thousand and things. What are you thinking at that time? Um?
- 35:58Speaker 1: I was like, yo, I'm not as broke as I
- 36:01Speaker 1: was when I was in New York, so I could
- 36:03Speaker 1: get it back again. There was more money than I had.
- 36:05Speaker 1: It's more money when I had when I was living
- 36:06Speaker 1: in the subway. So I was like, I know the blueprint.
- 36:09Speaker 1: I just gotta figure out and not make the same mistakes,
- 36:11Speaker 1: you know how like you fixing? A part of it
- 36:13Speaker 1: was like, maybe this is my time to be broke
- 36:18Speaker 1: because I've been. You weren't embarrassed, No, like I'm gonna
- 36:21Speaker 1: go from living in the in the hills coach. I
- 36:25Speaker 1: wasn't because I think what people have to realize is
- 36:28Speaker 1: like when you look at success and becoming successful, you
- 36:33Speaker 1: ask yourself, what's the worst thing that can happen if
- 36:35Speaker 1: you take this chance? And the worst thing that can
- 36:38Speaker 1: happen is you go back to where you were. And
- 36:40Speaker 1: I was already there, and your mom did make it
- 36:44Speaker 1: seem painful, right, So I've already been here, So how
- 36:46Speaker 1: can I be afraid of something that I've already seen?
- 36:48Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. It's like someone trying to
- 36:49Speaker 1: shock you and you're surprised, and then they try to
- 36:52Speaker 1: do it again. It's like, yeah, I don't know, You're
- 36:53Speaker 1: gonna be right there, So I'm not shocked. I just
- 36:55Speaker 1: got to figure out how to get around this obstacle
- 36:57Speaker 1: so that I can move forward. There's times when I
- 37:00Speaker 1: go through financial problems like everyone does. You know I
- 37:02Speaker 1: no matter what skill or level you are, you're going
- 37:05Speaker 1: to see financial hardships because you have finance, you have
- 37:08Speaker 1: the franchise tax board, you have the I R s,
- 37:10Speaker 1: you have things you invest in that don't go well.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Many invest because in order to continue to be successful,
- 37:15Speaker 1: we have to make big investments and take big chances.
- 37:18Speaker 1: That's just what it is. You can't be safe. So
- 37:20Speaker 1: at the time, if I'm taking a big chance and
- 37:22Speaker 1: I invest a million dollars into something that it doesn't
- 37:24Speaker 1: come through, It's like, oh, ship, Now what am I
- 37:26Speaker 1: gonna do? Now? I gotta figure it out. I wasn't afraid,
- 37:30Speaker 1: so closing out like what are some like pieces of
- 37:33Speaker 1: advice or maybe some golden nuggets that either carried you
- 37:36Speaker 1: through or that you would give to someone that doesn't
- 37:38Speaker 1: get the opportunity to meet you and get your blessing
- 37:41Speaker 1: of support in person. I think the most important thing
- 37:44Speaker 1: for most people's consistency. You have to be consistent because
- 37:46Speaker 1: they're going to be people, friends, family, people in your life.
- 37:49Speaker 1: They just don't believe in your dream. You just think
- 37:52Speaker 1: just won't And the crazy your dream, the more successful
- 37:54Speaker 1: you'll be. There's times where where I dream big, but
- 37:58Speaker 1: I didn't even drink big enough, Like when I got
- 38:00Speaker 1: the Emmy nomination, for example, I remember standing in the
- 38:03Speaker 1: CBS with What's Good and then he was like, yo,
- 38:05Speaker 1: I said you I'm gonna get an Emmy nomination next year.
- 38:08Speaker 1: He said, you don't even do TV content. I said,
- 38:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna get it off the internet. He say really.
- 38:11Speaker 1: I said yeah, we'll figure it out. And I got
- 38:14Speaker 1: the nomination, and I punched myself because I didn't ask
- 38:18Speaker 1: for the actual win. I only asked for the nomination,
- 38:22Speaker 1: which is what I got. So I think you have
- 38:24Speaker 1: to ask for the biggest things in life, and when
- 38:27Speaker 1: you ask for those things, they'll come to. You just
- 38:28Speaker 1: have to figure out how to get there. Consistency is key.
- 38:31Speaker 1: You have to believe it wholeheartedly yourself, because if you
- 38:34Speaker 1: don't believe it and you're doubting yourself. I never put
- 38:37Speaker 1: negative shit out into the atmosphere. I'm always it's scared.
- 38:41Speaker 1: You can't. You can't get scared. Get scared. You can't.
- 38:43Speaker 1: But why because again, what's the worst thing that happened
- 38:46Speaker 1: to And this is not that expensive goods on the episode.
- 38:52Speaker 1: So consistency is key. And just finding your lane and
- 38:55Speaker 1: stop and not doing what everyone else is doing. You
- 38:59Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like, I know my lane. I
- 39:01Speaker 1: could have went other routes once I got successful, but
- 39:03Speaker 1: I said, why not to stay in my length? Yeah,
- 39:05Speaker 1: you know, I love it. I love it. I think
- 39:08Speaker 1: you're a blessing to this community. I think you're a
- 39:11Speaker 1: blessing to so many young people. Um, the fact that
- 39:14Speaker 1: you take your time and I as a personal friend,
- 39:16Speaker 1: you know, I come to your workouts. I'm always I'm
- 39:20Speaker 1: always the last one putting behind. But the fact that
- 39:25Speaker 1: you take time and you just you look past. You
- 39:28Speaker 1: don't look at someone for their wallet or you know
- 39:31Speaker 1: their background. You're just like, come as you are. And you,
- 39:34Speaker 1: Joe Jackson, they asked a little bit, you know, Joe
- 39:37Speaker 1: Jackson is sometimes you need that. So I need somebody
- 39:39Speaker 1: to kick your ass. At the end of the day.
- 39:41Speaker 1: You're getting moving forward, ye aren't you. I mean you
- 39:44Speaker 1: was fit at last time. I showed up rolling poly
- 39:48Speaker 1: and walked away like thirty pounds later. Last time, I
- 39:51Speaker 1: produced the whole baby, and now I'm small again thanks
- 39:54Speaker 1: to you. Just work. I mean, I'm gonna cut you
- 39:56Speaker 1: all every day. But what you're gonna call you on
- 40:00Speaker 1: up showing up. Well, thank you so much for your time.
- 40:03Speaker 1: I appreciate you opening up your home, letting us tour
- 40:06Speaker 1: your home, and hopefully, you know, one day with you
- 40:10Speaker 1: out of town, you know, maybe I could house sit
- 40:13Speaker 1: you never know, never know. Yeah, I think I'm gonna
- 40:16Speaker 1: buy the house next door and then put a tunnel
- 40:18Speaker 1: that leads front of the walk way over to that house.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I hope to get there. I really hope all my
- 40:24Speaker 1: subscribers can support share their meal on Eating Wall Broke
- 40:27Speaker 1: at Eating Wall Broke and hopefully inspire me to somehow
- 40:31Speaker 1: figure out how to move next door. Insidational salves about
