incidents in Austin raise questions about how
• 5:56
self -driving cars learn and adapt to their surroundings.
• 6:00
One of the purported advantages of self -driving
• 6:03
car technology is that every car can learn from
• 6:06
one vehicle's mistakes. Waymo states, the Waymo
• 6:10
driver learns from the collective experiences
• 6:12
gathered across our fleet, including previous
• 6:15
hardware generations. However, in Austin, Waymo's
• 6:19
vehicles struggled for months to learn how to
• 6:22
stop for school buses during pickup and drop
• 6:25
-off times. An official with the Austin Independent
• 6:28
School District alleged that the vehicles had,
• 6:31
in at least 19 instances, illegally and dangerously
• 6:35
passed school buses with flashing red lights.
• 6:38
In early December, Waymo issued a federal recall

least 12 to federal regulators. In business news,

  Applebee's restaurant closures are affecting

several locations. after a major franchisee went

bankrupt. Georgia and Florida locations are among

those that have shuttered, including stores near
• 7:03
Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, and the Daytona
• 7:07
International Speedway. A number of Applebee's
• 7:10
neighborhood grill and bar restaurants have closed
• 7:13
due to financial distress and declining foot
• 7:16
traffic. The 10 shuttered stores are all owned
• 7:19
by an Atlanta -based Applebee's franchisee that
• 7:22
sought Chapter 11 protection. Most locations
• 7:26
were closed before the franchisee's bankruptcy
• 7:28
petition on March 24. Applebee's had roughly

• 8:44
Let's talk science. How a small winter flower
• 8:47
has attracted droves of admirers offers a symbol
• 8:50
of resilience. The snowdrop, or galanthus, blooms
• 8:54
when the world is still frozen. Gardeners enamored
• 8:58
with this plant gather each year in Pennsylvania
• 9:01
to celebrate its subtleties and endurance. On
• 9:04
a late February morning, a 220 -year -old Quaker
• 9:08
meeting house in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, fills
• 9:11
with revelers from all over the United States
• 9:13
and abroad. People grasp hands and hug like they're
• 9:17
at a family reunion. Many wear hats, sweaters,
• 9:21
and scarves adorned with little white blossoms
• 9:24
bowing toward the earth. The flower is the snowdrop,
• 9:28
and this is the Galanthus Gala, an annual gathering
• 9:31
of its ardent admirers. And an entertainment
• 9:36
news. The drama is generating buzz, with its
• 9:41
first reviews now available. Starring Zendaya
• 9:45
and Robert Pattinson, this A24 feature drama
• 9:48
is directed by Christopher Borgli, who is known
• 9:52
for Dream Scenario. The plot centers on a happily
• 9:55
engaged couple whose wedding week takes an unexpected
• 9:58
turn. Early reviews are mixed. However, critics
• 10:03
  praise Zendaya and Pattinson's performances.
• 10:07
Deadline's Pete Hammond called the film a darkly
• 10:09
funny yet explosively honest movie that may not
• 10:13
be what you expect at all going in. He also noted
• 10:16
Pattinson's performance as a career best performance.
• 10:20
Canada's CBC described the film as imperfect,
• 10:24
  controversial, and fascinating. Well, alrighty
• 10:29
folks, it's time for the quote of the day. And
• 10:33
today... Our quote comes from the American humorist
• 10:36
and author, Will Rogers. And he said, Everything
• 10:41
is funny as long as it is happening to somebody
• 10:44
else. And that's a wrap for this morning. You
