- 1:19today's episode. As we wrap up the Jolly Roger Fraud Matter, Part five
- 1:26from Hollywood, it's time now for Hello Johnny Dollar. Johnny you sound surprised,
- 1:36Jan Well, yes, I am, dear. I thought you were
- 1:38going over to police headquarters. I changed my mind. Then you didn't need
- 1:42my car after all? No, are you coming back here to my apartment
- 1:49Johnny after I take a little walk. As I told you, I've got
- 1:53to think this case out, and I can't very well do it wrapped up
- 1:56in your arms. Oh, Jenny, why don't you take a drive along
- 2:00the shoreline in my car. I want to come along, Jan. I'll
- 2:07wait for you here. Yeah, see you in a little while, much
- 2:12sooner than you think. Baby. Tonight and Every Weekday Night Bob Bailey and
- 2:23the Transcribed Adventures of the Man with the Action Packed Expense account America's fabulous freelance
- 2:28insurance investigator Yas Truley Johnny Dollar Expense accounts submitted by Special Investigator Johnny Dollar location
- 2:46in San Diego, California, to Universal Adchester's Bureau, Hartford, Connecticut,
- 2:51assignment the Jolly Roger Fraud, including the loss of a palatial yacht and a
- 2:54couple of murders expense account out of twelve phone call and One thing I didn't
- 3:01tell Jan Penny was that I was calling her from a booth right on the
- 3:05ground floor of her own apartment building. Another was the reason I changed my
- 3:08mind about borrowing her car to drive the headquarters for a talk with Sergeant Franklin.
- 3:13Although I had gone out to the parking lot and climbed into her car.
- 3:15All right, But as I was about to insert the keida started,
- 3:19I noticed the hood wasn't closed down tight. That saved my life for wired
- 3:23to the ignition, I found a booby trap that would have blown me the
- 3:25Kingdom come if i'd even turned the key. After hanging up on Jan,
- 3:30I hopped upstairs to her apartment and pressed an air against the door. No,
- 3:35no, he didn't, because he just phoned me from somewhere outside.
- 3:38But he said he's coming back here, and I tell you you'd better come
- 3:40over here. No, No, he just said he's going for a walk.
- 3:46Of course, I can handle all right, all right. I went
- 3:53back to the first floor to the phone booth and called Sergeant Franklin, do
- 3:57you think Jan Penny's in with Znaggin on his whole all? I'll tell you
- 4:00this. I don't like what I think. Look, Sergeant, I'm going
- 4:02back upstairs to talk to her again. Uh talk, did you say?
- 4:06Yes? Talk. I'm going to lay it all out to her, tell
- 4:09her what I suspect and why. If I can break it down, Okay,
- 4:12If I can't, well I'm misjudged it. Lucky stiff. I've seen
- 4:15her, Johnny, boy, what's that supposed to mean? I hope you
- 4:18have misjudged her for your sake, what reconciliation with a lovely way to spend
- 4:24the rest of the evening? Look you don't go to it, boy,
- 4:27and happy hunting? Who is it? John? Yeah? That was a
- 4:43short walk, but I'm glad are you? Are you sorry? I didn't
- 4:47stay away longer so you could get some help? Sit down, Sit down,
- 4:51Jane, I want to talk to you. Oh how masterful here?
- 4:57As you know, I didn't borrow your car after all? Next to me,
- 5:00darling, Let's continue from where we are, because fortunately somebody goof left
- 5:03the hood partly open. That's why I discovered the booby trap that would have
- 5:06gone off as I turned the ignition key. Oh sir, Johnny, booby
- 5:11what are you talking about? That's why I didn't hear the expected explosion right
- 5:15after I left you. Then they are after me too, the warning of
- 5:18the phone if I didn't stop helping you in this case, Johnny would like
- 5:23do for one thing, take your arms back to yourself and move over to
- 5:28your own corner of this couch so I can pull a gun if any of
- 5:30your pal something. Again, I feel it's too late. At Teas here
- 5:35will pull the trigger if you so much as move a hand toward your gun.
- 5:40He's an excellent shot. Yeah, I'm sure he is awkward coming in
- 5:43the service entrance, but I was concerned lest your phone call in the lobby
- 5:46might have been to the police. Here. Now, permit me to take
- 5:50charge of your goal. Just a minute's and again I should thank you.
- 5:56Oh yes, this is at Teas, the man I've had following you since
- 5:59you arrival here in San Diego. You don't recognize him, This boy I
- 6:04keep him from you never know I follow him. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 6:09I tiss you've been pretty good at it. But as long as we've been
- 6:13introduced, now, why don't we shake him? And he would, my
- 6:17boy, and I believe you call it a silencer, would obviate any undue
- 6:23noise. WU don't you be happier if he did pull the triggers? And
- 6:26again, but I wish to talk with you, dear mister. I don't
- 6:29think we have anything to talk about. Oh but we you see, dear
- 6:32boy, I'm curious to know why you suspected jan here of complicity in our
- 6:38little plan lovely girl. Isn't she pretty obvious? Isn't it now? Oh,
- 6:45forgive me. I realized in a situation like this, it is usually
- 6:48the detective, or in this case, the insurance investigator, who, at
- 6:53the point of a gun, extracts a confession from the shall we say criminal?
- 6:57However, okay, I'll tell you apart from the threatening phone calls,
- 7:00which nobody was chance seemed to know a terrible story for her to make up.
- 7:04You warn me in the beginning you'd have somebody taming me while I was
- 7:08here in San Diego to make sure I didn't spoil your plan collect some four
- 7:12hundred and sixty thousand insurance in that yacht you burned and sank out near the
- 7:15Coronado's quite right, quite right, But I must ask you to be brief
- 7:19in case that phone call you made was to the police. You see,
- 7:24with only artists and John left of my staff and crew, I can't very
- 7:28well for sure that call was to the police. That's why I'm trying to
- 7:31stall you with a lot of talk. Thank you for If that were true,
- 7:36dear boy, you would never admitt me. But do continue, all
- 7:41right. I've been followed before, I know or at least, I hope
- 7:45I do every trick in the book for dodging a tale. Too good,
- 7:47Artists, you shouldn't admit he got away from you too good now I make
- 7:54him suck artists. Please, I wish to hear more from mister and I
- 7:59wish to speak to him. As a matter of fact, Dear mister Dalla,
- 8:03there is really no need for you to continue. You are a very
- 8:07intelligent young man. Thanks. You realize that no one but our little Janet
- 8:11could have provided me with all the information I had. You're coming out here
- 8:16to investigate the sinking of the Jolly Roger. You're touching deathbed scene with mister
- 8:20Parker, your conversations with Lieutenant Smith, because god, and oh she did
- 8:26dispose of him quite well, didn't she? Chan Who else, Johnny,
- 8:33who else could have run down Bird Parker without artist artic Please, I wish
- 8:39to talk with mister Dall. I wonder you want sister to drive your Bobby
- 8:43Trap card and might really, Darling, I'm glad that you didn't, because
- 8:46if you listening, yes, dear boy, listen to me. You are
- 8:50intelligent, as I said before you even learned why, I am in immediate
- 8:54need of funds, so that I me if finance returned to Europe and freedom
- 8:58money of mine that has been frozen there millions, dear boy, and this
- 9:03the lovely Janet. Will you taste those who work with me share with me.
- 9:07It's true. Johnny, regardless of his reputation, when it comes to
- 9:11the people who will work with him, have the crow of that yacht.
- 9:13And whoever else was working with him, he had meted and only you want
- 9:16to trigger happy Charry to here well left who tools, my dear boy,
- 9:22Quite unlike the intelligent colleagues such as yourself and Janet, whom I wish to
- 9:26keep close. For artist, boy, that means you better watch your step.
- 9:30What do you mean nothing? ARTI is nothing nothing, my dear mister
- 9:35Dollar. Yeah, yeah, I get it, I get it. All
- 9:37I do is report that your claim should be paid. And I'm on your
- 9:41team and you will never regret it. Not only money more than you ever
- 9:46dreamed of. But Janet, Janet, my per you do like our mister
- 9:50Dollar. Do you know you met you sank to Johnie Rodger yourself and again
- 9:56all the men went down with it. What had to be done, little
- 10:00cabin Oh yes, yes, dear boy. Yes, both he and the
- 10:05crew and the Jolly Roger were in danger, upsetting my plans. They had
- 10:09to be eliminated. But you, dear man, please do not stand in
- 10:15my way. Much as I like and respect you, If you do,
- 10:18you will leave me no choice but to eliminate you, even as I had
- 10:22to rid myself A Parker, the Lieutenant, Smith, the cabin boy.
- 10:28What if I were to say, okay, I'll go along with a to
- 10:31say the least, it would get me out of this present peck line man
- 10:33ah, and much more. I still wish that gorilla yours would aim is
- 10:37gunn the other way? Oh, Artists, I think you might relax a
- 10:41bit for the moment, but I watch you go on, dear boy,
- 10:46Okay, what kind of assurance do you think you'd have that I wouldn't double
- 10:50cross you? There is the factor of fear fair, Oh my dear dear
- 10:58man, don't you see? The choice is as simple as this, and
- 11:01the choice is yours. You either accept my offer now or you accepted bullet
- 11:07from arts is gone. The latter I would regret exceedingly, not only because
- 11:13of you, I like you, but because it would mean temporary interruption of
- 11:16my plans a quick trip across the border to avoid being found when your body
- 11:22is discovered, and and the necessity of devising some other means for attaining passage
- 11:26to your but far more formable problems have been overcome many times. Dear mister
- 11:35Dahler, I do not wish to have to discuss this further. So tell
- 11:39and again I have got not yes for me, not for you. You
- 11:43mean you refuse, No, dear no, I mean you aren't going to
- 11:46have to discuss this any further. You won't be able to. But is
- 11:50I'd like to tie up this case with a big fancy handing a real dramatic
- 11:52tagline. I do not understand a long winded confession. I mean a goa
- 11:56just as well have been stated and caught well. As a matter of fact,
- 11:58you'll probably hear it in it word for word. This homely trigger man
- 12:01of yours aren't the only ones who know about the service entrance of this apartment?
- 12:05What do you mean? You may as well give up quietly because the
- 12:07gentleman standing in the doorway directly behind me, Sergeant Franklin of the Sandy Oh
- 12:11no, you don't. I don't want that surgeon. What a miss better
- 12:28tie up this gorilla. Boys. I'm glad you took the hint and came
- 12:31over. You know my call was being listened to. I kind of thought,
- 12:35so, yeah, no, more's an eggin dead. Yeah, I
- 12:41had slug from this big monkey's gun if I known he was that batter shot.
- 12:46I'm gonna try to jump him early. Come on up the way you
- 12:50hit him in sleep for a long time where Johnny Johnny listened to me,
- 13:03Oh, shut up. Expense account it am fourteen two hundred and seventeen fifty
- 13:11hotel in San Diego, incidentals and plain Fair back to New York and Hartford.
- 13:16Expenser counts subtotal five hundred twenty three twenty three. I'll give you the
- 13:20rest when I finish my vacation in La Joya, the one you promised me,
- 13:24remarks The famulous Crooked Empire of Paulus zenagian Eska puts the same way it
- 13:31happens when every man who tries to break the rules of international law and order.
- 13:35He might almost have called it death by his own hand, though of
- 13:37course little Artie will be made to pay for it. Jan same thing.
- 13:41I guess why do they do it Yours Truley Johnny Dawler. Now here's our
- 14:03star to tell you about next week's exciting story. Next week vacation and a
- 14:07beautiful romance that turned out to be a presude to murder. Join us,
- 14:13won't you? Yours Truly Johnny Dollar? Yours Truly Johnny Dollar is starring Bob
- 14:35Dailey, is transcribed in Hollywood. It is produced and directed by Jack Johnstone,
- 14:39who also wrote this week's story. Heard in the cast were Virginia,
- 14:43Greg Forrest, Lewis, Paul Frees, Janeavello, Harry Bartel, Don Diamond,
- 14:48and Victor Perrin. Musical supervision by Amarigo Marino. Be sure to join
- 14:54us on Monday night, same time in Station for another exciting story of Yours
- 14:58Truly, Johnny Dollar. This is Roy Rolan speaking welcome back. I have
- 16:03to say this was has not been my favorite serial so far, because really,
- 16:12to just came off week, it seemed to be going somewhere through the
- 16:17first three parts and then just kind of fell apart of it in parts four
- 16:22and five, it just became kind of obvious and you can definitely tell Johnstone
- 16:30wrote this as opposed to most of these ones which were written by Jack E
- 16:40Jack Newman or adapted from it. This one tried, but not quite.
- 16:47But there's always another episode, all right, well, listener comments and feedback.
- 16:53We had some positive comments on episode on episode one four nine the Clinton
- 17:00matter, Gary on Twitter says great and Brian calls out one of our special
- 17:11guest stars who shows up a lot, says, love that Johnny Dollar.
- 17:17I can't believe how many episodes of Johnny Dollar and the Lineup have Howard mcneer
- 17:22doing parts. I have so much respect for him. He is much more
- 17:26than just Floyd the barber. Thanks so much, and I know that probably
- 17:32a lot of baby boomers and older that's the main thing they remember McNear four.
- 17:38But we see, you know, just listening to the radio programs,
- 17:45he played a lot of different roles. Let George do it, Johnny Dollar
- 17:51and the Lineup, but you know, you just hear that voice on nearly
- 17:57on just so many programs. One of the really pivotal people that made radio
- 18:03work. And we'll hear in some other series coming up. I know that
- 18:08he is in one of the programs we'll be doing next season, the Casebook
- 18:12at Gregory Hoods. All right, well, now it's time for our second
- 18:18feature of the day, the Great Medical Mystery Show targeted towards a bit of
- 18:26a younger audience. This is episode four from nineteen forty eight from the Monarch
- 18:33program Library Syndication, The Mystery of the Man from Trouble Trouble Creek. Excuse
- 18:40me, this is doctor Tim Detective to bring you by transcription, the Mystery
- 18:48of the Man from Tubble Creek. It was Jill, Lady's daughter who first
- 19:00brought the case to my attention. You see, Jail and her pal Sandy
- 19:03have helped me out in a lot of my cases, which are usually of
- 19:07the software mystery and medicine are combined. This morning, Jill and Sandy were
- 19:11standing by while I was looking for some rare but dangerous microbes under the powerful
- 19:15microscope I have in my laboratory. I don't know how the conversation started,
- 19:19but I remember Jill asking suddenly, doctor Cam, you don't always get tasty
- 19:25a case. Well, I'm not suffering from any want if that's what you
- 19:29mean. I have standard fees for my crime investigation. Why don't mean it
- 19:33sasty that I'm thinking of charity work? Well, you see, Jill,
- 19:37those are things that any doctor just naturally does in the course of events,
- 19:40without any thought of reward. What would you have on us Curson, just
- 19:42somebody in trouble the same way, of course I would. Any doctor would.
- 19:47If you knew the number of free cases a doctor's handle each year,
- 19:51you'd think, well, that didn't be salty. A medical case. Well
- 19:55it started, is too bit. There's something up your sleeve, isn't there?
- 19:59Well this KNU feel sorry for, oh for whom Missus Edwards. She's
- 20:03a friend of Maddis and she hasn't any money and his family to take care
- 20:07of him. But he doctor Kim, she sure needs help them to be
- 20:11your husband sick my dad isn't the worst part he disappears, I thought,
- 20:15maybe too much, maybe, And that was the way I first learned of
- 20:19the strange disappearance of Arnold Edwards, the man from Trouble Creek. Later that
- 20:25afternoon, Sandy and Jill brought Missus Edwards to my office. You see,
- 20:29doctor, my husband and I live on a small Renis farm at Trouble Creek.
- 20:33We have three tiny children. Well, they just haven't been working out
- 20:37in a money way. I mean, well, guys don't have places where
- 20:41you can go and get some help. Now, Sandy, just wait until
- 20:44missus Edwards has finished her story. Everything went along pretty well until my husband
- 20:48started feeling bad a few months ago. He's tried awful hard, but he
- 20:53just couldn't seem to get the farm work done. That's what kind of illness
- 20:56was it? I don't know. It's also hard to get a doctor.
- 21:00And well there was the money, dude. He well, he complained of
- 21:04feeling tired, and he lost a lot of weight, and I thought he
- 21:08looked like he had a feeler. Hmm, the cost I don't remember.
- 21:14Oh, yes, he did have a bad cold. How long did it
- 21:17last? That's a funny part. It never did seem to go away.
- 21:21It wasn't bad, but there was that cough that seemed to come back all
- 21:25the time. Gosh, doctor till, what gould are all those questions?
- 21:26He just walked away from home and didna appear well? He hasn't. Even
- 21:30the police can't find him. Now, look, you kids, every mystery
- 21:33has a number of causes, and you can't know too much about the background
- 21:36of everybody concerned in one. If you think the detective work or medical work
- 21:40either, it's just a matter of chasing around and getting into exciting scrapes.
- 21:44You'd better think again, all right, missus Edwards? Go on, Well,
- 21:48well, finally my husband did ask the job in hers where to go
- 21:51for help, and she's only to come to town here. That was three
- 21:56weeks ago, and I haven't heard a word from him since. Oh,
- 22:00doctor, isn't there something you can do? Well? There, I was.
- 22:15You can't stay, not on an appeal like that. And besides,
- 22:18she was Sandy's in Jill's own case, if you want to put it that
- 22:22way, the first time they'd actually come to me for help. I may
- 22:26be a sucker, but I just can't seem to turn down people in a
- 22:30jam. Missus Edwards was staying for a couple of days right in the house
- 22:33as a guest of Jill's mother. So I decided to find out as much
- 22:37of the picture as I could. First, I called the Missing Person's Bureau
- 22:41of the Police Department. You're doctor, anything you want. You've given us
- 22:45enough help in your time, but I'm afraid there's nothing here on it for
- 22:48you your routine investigation. Yes, we've checked the hospitals, the more looked
- 22:53in on the missions for good stud fans Salvation army and all man. No,
- 22:59Madra Man, isn't the criminals, and there is very much to go
- 23:02on. Yes you're welcome. I tried a few leads of my own,
- 23:07including a telephone call to the county nurse, but she's the way on vacation.
- 23:11I was sure she must have given Edwards a card or letter to some
- 23:15specific medical agency, and so the next thing to do was to make a
- 23:18thorough check of all those on the fourth call, I've found what I wanted.
- 23:22Yes, don't. We gave him an examination. He came to take
- 23:27raise thorough Jacob Yes, tabercueoses and pretty advanced PA too. No. No
- 23:34address attempts the farm at trouble Creeds. No, no. He came back
- 23:40in person and we advised him of what the matter was and what to do.
- 23:44She's a beard, Well that's d No. I haven't the slightest idea.
- 23:52Yes you're welcome, And there we were at a dead end again.
- 24:03It wasn't even any news to me to discover that the Welfare Medical Center had
- 24:07diagnosed Edward's disease as tuberculosis. From what his wife had said, the conclusion
- 24:11was obvious. A loss of weight and wasting away process which gave the disease
- 24:15its original name of consumption. The fever, the call, the tiredness,
- 24:19and inability to work, all those were signs that the dread tubercle the scilli
- 24:25the cause of tuberculosis or at their deadly work inside his lungs. If the
- 24:30man was to live, those lungs must have rest, complete rest, to
- 24:33allow the healing processes of nature to do their job. That meant a hospital,
- 24:37specialized care, months perhaps of expert attention. But why had he disappeared
- 24:42from home? It wasn't until the day that Missus Edwards left to go back
- 24:48to Trouble Creek the things began to make sense. Sandy and Jail dropped into
- 24:52the laboratory, and Sandy announced, proudly, well, I guess we answer
- 24:55though, Mercy. You said to get back round about everybody in the case,
- 24:57and we've gotten well. Let me disinfect my hands. I've been analyzing
- 25:03some poisons. Maybe we'd better have a conference. Find yourselves a chair there,
- 25:07Okay, please say everything written down in an open First, I want
- 25:11to say we interviewed Missus Edward Sterling an excellent idea, okay, Arnold Edward's
- 25:15goody, no farmer or nineteen hundred and nine, two brothers, one sister.
- 25:22I guess that that's not the way you put information down an occupation,
- 25:26didn't it do? You can? Oh exactly went to school through the sixth
- 25:30grade, then had to find work because of family. I must admit that
- 25:34after my week's rush of work and the extra task of trying to locate the
- 25:38missing farmer, I began to nod as Sandy and Jill in turn went through
- 25:44the long and irrelevant history of mister Edwards's life. I thought that a right
- 25:48smile, that I'd done my work too well when I suggested that backgrounds were
- 25:52important in a mystery, I hadn't the heart to cut them off. And
- 25:56then, coming to attention at a word or two, after we've seen hours
- 25:59of case history, I snapped, suddenly, Hey, go back there.
- 26:03A few words you mean about mister Edwards matter. Here it is Missus Edwards
- 26:08quote two years ago my husband's mother died. That was just before my youngest
- 26:14Davy was born. She had lived with us. What did she die of?
- 26:18It said? Here a hand up Sich of the line hold on a
- 26:22minute, answered this carefully. Did mister Edwards realize that his mother had died
- 26:26at tuberculosis. Oh sure, His wife said it was a very sudden thing
- 26:30as far as the new one and the doctor talked it over with him.
- 26:33He had thought TV took a long long time to kill any guy. Not
- 26:36necessarily. Many times it's on set and the resulting death are very rapid.
- 26:40Anyway, from law, do you mean mister Edwards could have inherited it?
- 26:45No? No, no, no. Tuberculosis can't be inherited, but it
- 26:48can be transferred through contact. Anyone who lives with a tubercular person should have
- 26:52frequent X rays and tests determined if he has gotten the disease. Hey,
- 26:56what does all this have to do with miss Edwid's disappearance? It gives us
- 27:00the reason without a doubt, just this. I'm sure the doctor who attended
- 27:04old missus Edwards informed her son of the dangers of getting the disease by association.
- 27:10Well, when he suspected that he too had it, he took the
- 27:14only course he made sure by a medical examination, and then, rather than
- 27:18expose his family to TV any further, he did what he considered the only
- 27:22possible things. He disappeared from home, probably to die somewhere alone, to
- 27:30die. He who be cured. It can It dropped from first to eighth
- 27:36places a cause of death just in the last two years thanks to medical science.
- 27:38Then we can save them. We can, and we will if and
- 27:42it's a big gift if we can find them. Now go on with that
- 27:48background information. There were two clues to mister Edwards probable whereabouts the fact that
- 27:57before he became ill, he was interested in raising chickens and had hoped her
- 28:00experiment with breeding them to develop some new strains. The second point might or
- 28:06might not be important. He had been a bricklayer at one time in his
- 28:08life, and so the search was on. We drew branks on gold scores.
- 28:15I was sure that our missing man would not be well enough for the
- 28:18heavy labor of laying bricks. But with the help of a picture which his
- 28:22wife had mailed us, we candiced every building contractor in town. We did
- 28:26the same with every poultry raiser in the district. None had hired him.
- 28:32He checkeded. We had just about decided that our man had left this part
- 28:34of the country when a telephone call came from Missus Edwards at Trouble Creek.
- 28:38Not here. I had a letter from me from right here in town just
- 28:45worried, and he said, whatever money. That's good. God, he
- 28:52just walked money for the good of myself. Oh, doctor, please please
- 28:57find you for me. By this time, both the kids and I were
- 29:07frivay. I'd spent so much time on the case of my regular work was
- 29:10going into a mountain of backbreaking labor, and the farther away from a solution
- 29:14the matter looked, the more determined I was that I was going to save
- 29:18a stubborn human being from the death that would surely come unless I could find
- 29:22him and persuade him to enter a hospital for treatment. That doc gone fool,
- 29:26I thought, sayesn't he know there are special hospitals right here in the
- 29:30state for TV patients who can't afford to pay. It had been over a
- 29:34week since our search had started. Was it possible that it was such a
- 29:37short time. Wearily, I threw myself onto a chair and tried to think.
- 29:45Standing in jail, knocked quietly at my door, come in. Gosh,
- 29:53we feel kind of like he's not helping any I guess there isn't anything
- 29:56else to do. I'm afraid not kids without Maybe we just see the states
- 30:00there to night. So the last night. Nice, You're hate to miss
- 30:03all the roping in the rodeo and the exhibits. Ye yeh, it's really
- 30:07going to be Lulu, want to come along? Oh, I'm afraid I'm
- 30:11too tired. Kid. You go on. You wouldn't have to do much
- 30:12of anything. You don't want to watch the show. You could just wander
- 30:15through the exhibits and things. Hardly anybody's there when the show's going on.
- 30:18In the arena, for sure, they have lights of the interesting things,
- 30:22rabbits and say looking ears of corn and a crazy spinky birds and kickings you
- 30:26ever saw. We don't have theethers clear down to the ground and color top
- 30:30that. And they don't even look like chickens, lots of them. And
- 30:33shoes. Good josh, you don't even stop to talk. Everybody have your
- 30:37coat. Let's get in that car, but fast, it's our last chance.
- 30:53A half hour later, I walked quietly up and down the aisles of
- 30:57the almost deserted poultry exhibit of the fair. My heart was beating fast.
- 31:03I glanced from time to time of the picture in my hand. One false
- 31:07alarm, two three, and then you look closs, mister, he says,
- 31:14making do for you I work here, Yes there is. I have
- 31:19a message from your wife, mister Edwards. Now I don't want you to
- 31:22say a word. I want to talk to you about finding a hospital that
- 31:27will cure you. All those lungs need is arrest. Simple surgery, if
- 31:32needed, can do much to make you a new man. Your family have
- 31:34been examined and haven't taken a disease. Your wife is heartbroken, and your
- 31:41kids are crying for you. So how about it, fella? Shall we
- 31:45talk? This is doctor Tim detective saying so long until next week at the
- 31:56same time, when Sandy, Jill and I will dip in a my case
- 32:00book for the exciting transcribed story I call the Mystery of the Second Alarm Welcome
- 33:01back, well kind of. We're working in a current issue for nineteen forty
- 33:08eight along with a missing person's case, and I think a very interesting approach
- 33:17in a good educate way to educate the public. The one thing I did
- 33:23wonder here is why this farmer would make the choice, if he thought he
- 33:29was this contagious to go out and and work. You know, it just
- 33:36seems like putting a lot of people at risk, even if they aren't related.
- 33:40For you, So kind of some odd choices, but at any rate,
- 33:45I'm looking forward to next week's episode. I don't think I've actually listening
- 33:51to it before, so I hope you'll be back with us for another episode
- 33:53of Doctor Tim. Okay, Now, some listener comments that have kind of
- 34:02gotten lost. Some people email me or they go on Facebook and they try
- 34:15to contact me without any sort of friend relationship. So they sent some comments
- 34:23that kind of got lost, and there was one critical one that was funny.
- 34:30I got this actual Rick commented on Facebook. Please, for God's sake,
- 34:37get that voice off the Sherlock Holmes. You know, show your ignorance
- 34:40every time you open your mouth. Nail nails on a blackboard. The funny
- 34:46thing was I actually got that after I'd stopped doing the Sherlock Holmes portion of
- 34:52the podcast once we finish those. But on a much more nicer note,
- 34:58received this from Bob Adam. I've never met you, but I'm a big
- 35:02and faithful fan of great Detectives. Best wishes and keep up the good work.
- 35:07You appreciated and are a valued part of my daily routine. All the
- 35:10best, Bob. Well, thanks so much, Bob, and if you
- 35:15do want to get in contact with the show on Facebook. I do encourage
- 35:17listeners to like our Facebook page at Facebook dot com, Slash Radio Detectives.
- 35:23If you email, If you send a Facebook message to me and I'm not
- 35:29in a friend status, it basically goes into a message folder called other,
- 35:37and if you're on Facebook, you have that folder as well, and it
- 35:42just does not get checked because half the time I don't even think of it
- 35:45being there. So I apologize for those who sent encouraging, good messages that
- 35:51I wasn't able to get back to you because I didn't see the messages,
- 35:54but I just stumbled on that so on I would share, all right,
- 36:00So that will do it for today. We will be back tomorrow with the
- 36:05lineup. Then join us on Monday for another Yours to lead Joni Dollar Cereal,
