- 0:00Speaker 1: Effort. I thought that it's always nice when your seniors
- 0:04Speaker 1: can win their last game and their home rink, and
- 0:08Speaker 1: I thought it was a great hockey game. Bu gave us,
- 0:12Speaker 1: you know, all we could handle. But our response in
- 0:16Speaker 1: the third period I thought was was really really good.
- 0:20Speaker 1: We're able to not only when you know, we took
- 0:24Speaker 1: the two goal lead, I still thought we were control
- 0:27Speaker 1: and play and an unfortunate you know, passed out. It
- 0:30Speaker 1: takes a tough bounce on Anthony and Merrill made a
- 0:33Speaker 1: great shot, But overall, I was just really happy with
- 0:36Speaker 1: our entire team performance. I thought we got contributions from
- 0:40Speaker 1: everybody up and down the lineup.
- 0:43Speaker 2: What was the difference early or not early in the
- 0:45Speaker 2: third period, but coming out of the second intermission in
- 0:47Speaker 2: the third period, was it conversation in locker room? Do
- 0:49Speaker 2: you tweak anything? No?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Not really. Uh, you know, we just said, hey, our
- 0:55Speaker 1: season's on the line, so you get twenty minutes we're
- 0:58Speaker 1: going to continue playing together or the season's going to end.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And when you have seven you know, seniors and they
- 1:08Speaker 1: don't want the season end, and they played like it.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Okay, I know, well, I'll just how confident were you
- 1:17Speaker 3: that Anthony's Folt would be allowed, you know.
- 1:20Speaker 1: And they Alex Westland immediately radioed down saying that's a
- 1:26Speaker 1: good goal. Like he was not in the crease, and
- 1:30Speaker 1: I was watching the replay, and then when I saw
- 1:32Speaker 1: the quick replay, I was I thought, you still never
- 1:35Speaker 1: know when they go into the box. But I'll tell
- 1:37Speaker 1: you what, I got to give Steve Rouleiart a lot
- 1:39Speaker 1: of credit because when you make a call and you're
- 1:42Speaker 1: going to go in and overturn your own call, you know,
- 1:45Speaker 1: that's a real professional referee right there.
- 1:51Speaker 4: For Anthony, how does it speak to that continued growth
- 1:54Speaker 4: that we've talked about all year for him?
- 1:55Speaker 1: He's just been getting better and better, And I thought
- 1:57Speaker 1: today he was. He was a man out there, the
- 2:00Speaker 1: youngest kid on the team and probably one of the
- 2:02Speaker 1: youngest kids. Him and Lawrence are probably the youngest kids
- 2:07Speaker 1: in the game. And he was fantastic.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Played from ahead the entire game. How do you feel
- 2:17Speaker 2: like the guys reacted to kind of the ups and
- 2:20Speaker 2: downs throughout and the state even.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Keeled really well, you know, no matter what happened, even
- 2:25Speaker 1: when they tied it up. We were pretty good. This
- 2:29Speaker 1: time of year when you're in the hockey East playoffs.
- 2:32Speaker 1: You're not going to control the entire game, and you
- 2:35Speaker 1: have to be able to weather storms. You have to
- 2:37Speaker 1: understand that the other team's going to score a goal
- 2:40Speaker 1: probably they're good teams, and you have to come out
- 2:43Speaker 1: with the same intensity and the same attitude regardless of
- 2:48Speaker 1: what happens, whether you score or whether you get scored on.
- 2:51Speaker 1: And when you have a group of guys that are
- 2:53Speaker 1: experienced as us, they know that and it showed today.
- 2:57Speaker 1: I thought you.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Always talk about the balance three or four lines scored today,
- 3:02Speaker 3: can just pof the one line team.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's been like I think. I mean, it's close.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Every line has at least twenty goals on the season,
- 3:12Speaker 1: and you don't see that often on a lot of teams.
- 3:15Speaker 1: So we have, you know, balanced four lines, and there
- 3:22Speaker 1: were some matchups today, But I really wasn't too worried
- 3:24Speaker 1: about him. I have confidence in every line out there, and.
- 3:29Speaker 4: I think Jake did committing two penalties that first period
- 3:32Speaker 4: and just sort of being a consummate person.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Yeah, he shook it off and played a great game,
- 3:37Speaker 1: scored a big power play goal for us, and I
- 3:40Speaker 1: thought he played really well in the second and third period.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Penalty kill pitches a shutout. Yeah, it's a pretty big
- 3:46Speaker 2: one in the third. What did you see from that
- 3:47Speaker 2: unit that's been a little up and down throughout the year.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I thought they they were in sync tonight. I thought
- 3:53Speaker 1: they worked a very cohesive unit that read off each other.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Nick Perusi did an unbelievable job preparing them. I sat
- 4:03Speaker 1: in on a couple of his meetings this week, and
- 4:06Speaker 1: he really did a great job preparing them for what
- 4:08Speaker 1: they were gonna face.
- 4:10Speaker 3: I'm sorry speaking of the penalty killed, well, I think
- 4:13Speaker 3: he might have been the first foul play where Tyler
- 4:17Speaker 3: was a little bit out of a position. Yeah, came
- 4:20Speaker 3: in and you have made that statement that I think
- 4:23Speaker 3: Viking had a similar play later. I guess just the
- 4:26Speaker 3: play of your defenseman in those situations.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yeah, they were. Thought Viking was really good. I thought
- 4:33Speaker 1: Massinio killing penalties was very good. Anthony was very good.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Kai is one of the most underrated defensemen I think
- 4:42Speaker 1: in our league. Defensively, you know, everybody looks at him
- 4:45Speaker 1: as a smaller, undersized defenceman and they think offense, offense,
- 4:48Speaker 1: but he leads our team in plus minus. He's just
- 4:51Speaker 1: his feet or elite did a really really nice job,
- 4:55Speaker 1: and I thought Brendan Dunfie did an excellent job tonight
- 4:57Speaker 1: as well on the penalty.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Kill to actually might be the best crowd here.
- 5:02Speaker 1: It was awesome. It was unbelievable, and it was funny
- 5:06Speaker 1: because the BU radio guy interviewed me before the game.
- 5:09Speaker 1: He goes, well, I guess it's just going to be
- 5:11Speaker 1: like it was at be You, where it was friends
- 5:13Speaker 1: and family on Wednesday night. I go, this place is
- 5:15Speaker 1: sold out. I don't know what you're talking about. So yeah,
- 5:19Speaker 1: it's uh, you know, the fan base here, they they
- 5:24Speaker 1: support like no other place I've been. It's it's truly
- 5:27Speaker 1: remarkable and we're very appreciative of it.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Last year when you guys beat Providence, he said he
- 5:34Speaker 2: didn't want to be a program that just went once
- 5:36Speaker 2: a class to the garden. Now you're going two years
- 5:39Speaker 2: in a row. How important is that for your growth
- 5:41Speaker 2: and just the consistency of it.
- 5:44Speaker 1: It's huge, It's huge. It's uh, it becomes you want
- 5:48Speaker 1: it to become an expectation, you know, that's that's what
- 5:53Speaker 1: you want. You want, you know next year, if you
- 5:57Speaker 1: know our juniors, the juniors that stay and become seniors.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I want them we expect to go to the garden.
- 6:03Speaker 1: That's what we do. I think when it becomes an expectation,
- 6:09Speaker 1: you know, that's half the battle. As a coach, I
- 6:12Speaker 1: don't have to convince them that. You know, this is
- 6:15Speaker 1: one of our goals two under the.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Career win tonight.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Yeah I found that out. Yeah afterwards, it's just another win.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I'm not really happy. I don't care how many numbers
- 6:29Speaker 1: there are. I'm just really happy for our team. I'm
- 6:32Speaker 1: looking forward to two to one. That's the one I
- 6:36Speaker 1: want to get next.
- 6:38Speaker 3: There was no over the top celebration from Joey when
- 6:42Speaker 3: he hits. It was almost like he just kind of
- 6:44Speaker 3: shrugged and lifted up his stick.
- 6:45Speaker 1: When you had that empty dintor well, there's fifty five
- 6:47Speaker 1: seconds left, so we talk about that all the time,
- 6:52Speaker 1: like the game is not over. So we understood that
- 6:56Speaker 1: they were going to pull them again, and when they did,
- 6:58Speaker 1: they had one Look, if that goes in, there's thirty
- 7:01Speaker 1: seconds left and this one goal game again, So we
- 7:04Speaker 1: never ever think the game is over.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Maybe the three or four minutes leading up to them
- 7:11Speaker 2: pulling the goalie the first time, it seemed like you
- 7:13Speaker 2: were not necessarily possessing the puck, but really keeping them
- 7:16Speaker 2: back in their own end having to go retreat. It
- 7:18Speaker 2: just what do you guys do so well to limit
- 7:20Speaker 2: them from being able to come at you offensively.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I thought we did a good job protecting the guts
- 7:26Speaker 1: of the ice, the middle of the ice and tried
- 7:27Speaker 1: to just keep them to the outside. As part of
- 7:29Speaker 1: our game plan with Hudson was don't let him come
- 7:32Speaker 1: up the middle of the ice, and McLoughlin once got
- 7:36Speaker 1: the middle of the ice on us. It happened a
- 7:37Speaker 1: couple of times, but for the most part, we did
- 7:40Speaker 1: a really good job keeping them to the outside and
- 7:43Speaker 1: making them dumb pucks. Because you saw it tonight they
- 7:46Speaker 1: scored three rush goals, like that's what they're very good at,
- 7:50Speaker 1: and you know that's what we were trying to mitigate tonight.
- 7:57Speaker 4: And with them means so good scoring short handed. Did
- 8:00Speaker 4: you think your power play units were the right balance
- 8:04Speaker 4: of aggressive and just being mindful of what they could do.
- 8:06Speaker 1: The only one that was a little tentative was probably
- 8:09Speaker 1: that last one when it was about eight minutes left.
- 8:12Speaker 1: When we get that that one got a little tentative.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I thought they just didn't want to turn one over
- 8:17Speaker 1: and give up a shorty. But other than that, I
- 8:20Speaker 1: thought they were good. Anything else for coach guys awesome,
- 8:23Speaker 1: Thank you guys.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Next week
