Transcript
- 0:12Hello and welcome to another exciting edition of Bradders
- 0:19Grappas where this week of this episode I should say we are
- 0:24going to be taking a look back at the TNT double header
- 0:31featuring Ignition Level up and also the evening show of DOA
- 0:392026. Joining me on this fun little
- 0:47look back is as ever my official unofficial Co host in Mr Miles
- 0:56Smith. Good afternoon, Miles.
- 0:59Good afternoon. Seems very strange to be
- 1:03recording an afternoon show but there there are reasons for that
- 1:07which you will discover probably in a couple of shows time.
- 1:14So we are going to try and get through this as quick as we can
- 1:21do so sit back for a 2 hour marathon.
- 1:28We start with TNT Ignition Level Up, the opening contest being
- 1:38for the TNT Women's Tag Team Titles with the challengers
- 1:44Lally in Holly Barlow and Lana Austin.
- 1:49They went up against the Champions in the experience,
- 1:54that being LA Taylor and Sky Smithson.
- 2:00I'll come to you, Miles on this. What were your your thoughts on
- 2:05this match? So it it felt like even though
- 2:12it was a championship match, it felt like a very unserious
- 2:16championship match because there was a lot of like goofy spots in
- 2:20it where it was like Holly and Lana shall be in like the fun
- 2:24side of them. And then the experience we're
- 2:27trying to put on like a proper tag team match, but like Holly
- 2:30was like showing off on the outside, giving like just
- 2:35mouthing off to the fans and just being a usual Scrappy Doo.
- 2:39Yeah, so it's that term Scrappy Doo for Holly really does kind
- 2:46of suit us so perfectly now. But it's it's the thing of,
- 2:55well, it's hard to tell. I think Lily, I'm meant to be
- 2:59kind of the the rule Breakers of kind of at TNT, even though.
- 3:06People were cheering for it, yeah.
- 3:08They do come across more kind of like fan favourite, but it's I'd
- 3:14almost go as far to say them more Inbetweeners than anything.
- 3:20They don't particularly give off kind of fan favourite stuff, but
- 3:26they don't particularly kind of like push away from it either.
- 3:34So it's it's an interesting dynamic, especially is when kind
- 3:41of like they both got together as Lolly, it was Lana wanting
- 3:45nothing to do with Holly. She did not want to have any fun
- 3:50whatsoever. And Holly has kind of slowly but
- 3:57surely kind of just chiselled and grafted away at Lana to kind
- 4:03of break her down and almost get her on her level.
- 4:07Now it feels she's she's not as nasty to Holly as she she once
- 4:12was. The match itself though, I
- 4:19actually thought this was a really decent opener.
- 4:23As you said, there was a lot of goofy stuff, though.
- 4:29Even in between the goofy stuff, you still had some decent
- 4:34wrestling. It was kind of clear that they
- 4:40were going to target Sky in this match and have kind of them in
- 4:46charge and isolate the tag partner, but they didn't.
- 4:52They actually seem to isolate both Taylor and Smithson, kind
- 4:57of like different intervals in this match.
- 5:02But you you always felt there were going to be some
- 5:05shenanigans with with Lolly in this contest.
- 5:08And I mean, we, we weren't disappointed with with kind of
- 5:13like how it ended. I was, I was, I was a bit
- 5:18annoyed with how it ended. I probably won't have had the
- 5:22title change happen. I would have kept the
- 5:25experiences title holders. It's someone made the point, I
- 5:34can't remember who it was now, where they said the the
- 5:38experience of held the tag titles, but it's felt very much
- 5:44like the crowd. Have not been behind.
- 5:47Them nothing haven't been behind them or just as much as I mean,
- 5:55the experience as a team are brilliant really, but they have
- 6:03struggled to try and get kind of like the crowd to get behind him
- 6:08or or one way or the other either Boom or Jerem.
- 6:16So it's in a way does make a bit of sense changing the title.
- 6:25But it's, I suppose it's just one of those things with the
- 6:29crowd. You, you can't please everyone,
- 6:31I suppose. Miles.
- 6:35So if you look, you look at how many title defences they've had,
- 6:39so they've they've held the belt for 434 days, but they've only
- 6:44had 1234 title defences. So the defeat the defeated
- 6:53pretty Psycho but some summer explosion 2025 they defeated the
- 6:58She Wolves and they defeated Hyperactive and they've lost to
- 7:03Lally in the 4th title defence. Yeah it looks like it's a long
- 7:09title. Rainbow Full title defences Is
- 7:13is not good enough for a team like LA and Sky.
- 7:16They deserved a lot more title defences.
- 7:19Might have been a booking issue or maybe they've not been able
- 7:22to get to Liverpool as much because I know LA is down and
- 7:27down South so it's like might be a logistics issue getting them
- 7:32to have title defences regularly but.
- 7:35I mean, they have, they have struggled kind of getting as
- 7:44many title defences as you say. But in the meantime, they have
- 7:48tried to kind of had it out at times with Smithson doing other
- 7:55things or if something has happened with Smiths and they've
- 7:58tried to kind of incorporate into like A tag match even the
- 8:05next show or down the line. But again, as you say, if it's a
- 8:13case of the can't get Teller to come up or there's just problems
- 8:21where they can't do it, I suppose it makes makes sense to
- 8:28put titles on a team that can defend them more often.
- 8:32But again, it's I can't even turn around and say there's no
- 8:42teams that they can defend because there's plenty of tag
- 8:46teams that you can have. Again, all that does also come
- 8:51down to booking and availability.
- 8:57But I'm now wondering if if they break up the experience, would
- 9:05they lot at having Smithson go for the tag titles again?
- 9:12But with Violet Night and having Violet, Violet Sky involved, I
- 9:23suppose we'll, we'll, we'll wait and see on that point.
- 9:27The match itself though, and what caused the title change?
- 9:34So we had Holly who suplexed Smithson up on the staging area.
- 9:41She then grabbed one of the tag titles, went to try and get in
- 9:47the ring, drew the attention of referee Scott Bell.
- 9:55Also had LA Taylor looking at Holly and thinking well you're
- 10:00not getting in the ring With that, Lana picks up one of her
- 10:04many titles she owns. This distracted the referee,
- 10:08which then led to Holly entering the ring, cracking Taylor in the
- 10:14head with the belt. Things then broke down with
- 10:19Austin hitting a power bomb on Taylor and Holly dropping the
- 10:25elbow from the top rope to have both Holly and Lana pinning
- 10:32Taylor and crowning new tag team champions.
- 10:42Would it be fair to say where we differ on if we thought this was
- 10:46a good match then? I enjoyed the match to be fair,
- 10:50but it just wasn't the outcome I wanted.
- 10:55Match number 2 was Lewis Johnson originally going up against.
- 11:06I can't think of his first name now.
- 11:10Thank you. However we had a video and had
- 11:19Crow in a surgical gown in bed in a hospital.
- 11:27I haven't got a clue what he said because we couldn't hear
- 11:32from where we were. I think I remember his promo is
- 11:35basically was like he was explaining why he's in hospital
- 11:40with basically he said Lewis Johnson took him out and he's
- 11:46attacked him before the show or I don't know where he's attacked
- 11:50him, but he said Lewis has took him out.
- 11:52So he's he's found a suitable replacement in his best friend
- 11:56in Lucian. The Lucian comes out to avenge
- 12:01Callum Crow and he's stepped up in his place and took on the
- 12:05match against Lewis. I think the last time I saw
- 12:11Lucian he was facing Thai Archer and Avi.
- 12:15Yeah, VIP match. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:17And. And in fairness, was a really
- 12:21good match up. So I haven't got many notes for
- 12:26this due to the fact that I've only just written notes today.
- 12:31So that's why I'm very thin on the ground on these things.
- 12:36I think I remember majority of the match, to be fair.
- 12:39So the majority of the match, it was basically it was a clash of
- 12:44two different styles. Lewis basically just doing his
- 12:48usual technician style, working on limbs, like arms, legs.
- 12:54Whereas Lucian's the complete opposite of Lewis Johnson.
- 12:58He's more of the high flyer, really, really, really fast in
- 13:04the ring, likes to bounce off the ropes and go for a lot of
- 13:07like top rope manoeuvres. Lois likes to ground his
- 13:11opponent and work on his limbs, so the clash of styles in this
- 13:15worked really, really well in the mid the match progress.
- 13:21Yeah, it was. You know, I've really enjoyed
- 13:24this match in. To be fair, Lewis is just a big
- 13:30kind of brawling technical son of a gun Lucian who I have only
- 13:37seen very kind of like sparse mostly at TNT shows, but it felt
- 13:48very much like Lucian had done everything he could to help
- 13:52avenge Callum. Crowe being injured looked on
- 13:57course to win, but I think also it was a case of of him not
- 14:07playing to the crowd but just seem to take an age to go and
- 14:15hit the big move. But of course the longer you
- 14:21leave to do a big move, you help your opponent just recover more
- 14:27and effectively. That's really what happened as
- 14:32Johnson put him in a When I say awful submission, I mean that in
- 14:38the nicest, bestest way. Puts him in a submission.
- 14:44Hold it. It looks awkward.
- 14:50I think it's like it wasn't like a modification of the cross
- 14:53facing it because he's got his arm on his neck.
- 14:56You just. Racing back, it feels like half
- 15:00a cross face, half a kind of like.
- 15:03Sleep holder. Watch.
- 15:04Yeah, like a Barbara Crooks. Yeah.
- 15:06Sleeper hold. Yeah.
- 15:07Yeah, it's, it's a great move. I have to say that it's I do
- 15:13like seeing that move applied because it looked painful and in
- 15:19times where some moves look a bit kind of not that good.
- 15:26This definitely looks like it would have you tapping out in
- 15:32seconds, which is what I like from my submission holds.
- 15:39So that was match #2 we then Miles.
- 15:44I had a thought because of the promo count Crow did, I've
- 15:49thought of a match like during the show would work really well
- 15:54even on like a kid show or an extreme show.
- 15:57So Lewis Johnson versus Column Crow in a stretcher match.
- 16:04I'm just thinking where you'd put the stretcher in that place.
- 16:08I suppose you'd have to have on the stage, wouldn't?
- 16:10You on the stage? Yeah, yeah, like the old WCW
- 16:14shows and old WWE shows where they have like a coffin on the
- 16:17stage or like any stretcher. Oh to be fair it it would have
- 16:22to be WCW as as much as WWE tried to do.
- 16:30Well they didn't call them stretcher.
- 16:32I think they were ambulance match.
- 16:35They were awful when I watched him.
- 16:38Not saying that kind of WCW under Mike Arsene when he used
- 16:45to do them were were kind of like great ones, but it went
- 16:51well with his character, especially being kind of like
- 16:57ECW because I think he did kind of do that gimmick over an ECW
- 17:03as well. But it's it's one to pop into
- 17:10the potential ideas for TNT. So that was match #2.
- 17:19Match #3 was one I was looking forward to the most on the
- 17:25afternoon card, and it was the TNT Men's Level Up Briefcase
- 17:32match featuring such people as Tommy Tanner, Bullet, Denzel,
- 17:41Mack, Shreddy, and Vusic. Again, I have limited notes, but
- 17:50I have a fair few. So early on in the contest,
- 17:57Tommy Tanner gets taken out very early.
- 18:02Do you know what happened on that bit?
- 18:05So I think he went for a dive out of the ring.
- 18:07So we take, I think we took him out with an ankle injury.
- 18:13I was, I think they were trying to say it was concussion or
- 18:15something. It was, it looked like
- 18:17concussion or maybe like an ankle injury or something.
- 18:20Whereas where I saw it looked like, I think I think they put
- 18:25him down to like a leg injury maybe.
- 18:28I couldn't really make out what the actual injury was.
- 18:34Because she had Big John come out and was doing kind of all
- 18:39tests, like shining a light in his eyes, and he's kind of
- 18:42shying away and saying get the light out of out of my face.
- 18:48He's doing kind of like the whole test to follow the finger.
- 18:53He wanted to get back into the ring and they dragged him
- 18:56straight back out, lead him through the side of the stage
- 19:02and didn't really return till about.
- 19:07The last minute. 4-4 minutes. It was the vet.
- 19:12Maybe 2 1/2. I think it's about 2 1/2
- 19:14minutes. So effectively, this match then
- 19:19turned into bullet, Denzel shredded and Vusic.
- 19:25Every man at one point or another had a pinfall victory
- 19:30over the other. I think Vusic might have had two
- 19:37two pinfall victories or A1 pinfall and a submission during
- 19:42this. Again, I haven't fully watched
- 19:45it back, but from from all of them, he he seemed to be the the
- 19:53more impressive if you like Mack wasn't.
- 20:00So much in involved in this other than seemingly taking the
- 20:04the pinfalls or hitting the the on high flying move shredding
- 20:11bullet just seem to be almost like the two heavies in this
- 20:16match. And for the second straight show
- 20:22Shreddy doing a Predator style joining forces as he'd done it
- 20:30with Troy Ryan a couple of days prior at catch and did it again
- 20:36with someone with the same build with bullets to which I believe
- 20:44they were, I think either tag partners or they faced each
- 20:48other in the past in TNT. So that's almost a mini reunion
- 20:56of sorts. Then we kind of have breakdown
- 21:03towards the end with Tanner returning with roughly about 3
- 21:08minutes to go. He hits a brain Buster on Vusic
- 21:12with 2 1/2 minutes left to go. On the 15 minute clock a bullet
- 21:20hits a choke slam on Vusic and every time he seems to go for a
- 21:26pinfall it sees that man who has been interfering in bullets
- 21:33business for a couple of shows now in Joe rage as it kind of
- 21:41did make me laugh when bullet went to do the original pinfall
- 21:47rage. The most half assed kind of
- 21:51pulling the referee's leg you could do, which did stop the
- 21:57count from Greenwood. And then Bullet tried another
- 22:00move and Rage just playfully pulled Greenwood's leg again and
- 22:06as we approached 3 seconds to go he did it a third time, costing
- 22:13Bullet a possible title shot. Bullet is left irate after the
- 22:21match cuts. I mean, it cuts a promo.
- 22:26Yeah, drop the F bomb and the kids show.
- 22:29Yeah. It's the thing that made me
- 22:33laugh though, was when he dropped the F bomb, he kind of
- 22:38put the microphone down but still shouted it.
- 22:43So I know what he was trying to do.
- 22:48But this I'll say that there's a couple of things that slipped
- 22:56out from people on this show. Yeah, this show ended up not
- 23:01being a kid show, No. It was not APG show at all.
- 23:08So bullets I rate that Rages cost him yet again and asks on
- 23:15the next show for a no disqualification match.
- 23:19He messed up the promo the best, yes.
- 23:22Three out of two, yes. He said it originally, he said
- 23:26two out of three and then when he got really angry and I was.
- 23:31Three out of two. I will say this in in defence,
- 23:36he was so angry he could not get his words out.
- 23:40And when I want a three out of two falls match and immediately
- 23:45up in the balcony we were thinking is this going to be
- 23:48like mystery wrestling where it was like 7 out of 11 balls then?
- 23:55But again, when you're angry, you say silly things.
- 24:02So. I will say I did enjoy bullets
- 24:06drop on Vusic. Oh, have you seen the video from
- 24:11Jeebus? Yeah.
- 24:13Music. Music.
- 24:14Just he looked like he was dead inside.
- 24:17I I may have to ask Jebus if I can borrow that clip and add it
- 24:22to the video for this podcast. Mental note, ask Chebus so we go
- 24:31from that. I believe we then went.
- 24:36To Mickey Barnes. We went to the interval and then
- 24:38we had a little segment between Mickey Barnes and MVK.
- 24:43Well, you say Mickey Barnes. Oh wait.
- 24:48Benny Dawn Barnes. So Mickey Barnes who came out in
- 24:55a beautiful holiday shirt, it would be fair to say if it had a
- 25:04pocket on the breast it would have looked very much in keeping
- 25:08with like going to the darts. I thought we had chance of
- 25:15Benidorm Mickey. One that made me laugh and
- 25:21again, not particularly playing to the the PG crowd of Sticky
- 25:26Mickey. If you know what you want.
- 25:29Yes, exactly. Which did have a couple of
- 25:35people in the ring killing themselves laughing at that.
- 25:39Even Barnes at one point and did well to recover himself.
- 25:45He then cut us a promo because originally we should have had
- 25:51Barnes versus MVK says. Clearly I'm not dressed for
- 25:57combat as I've got a flight later.
- 26:02MVK then comes out and we get them to kind of going back and
- 26:07forth for each other. We've Barnes calling MVKA
- 26:11Mushroom A. Mushroom.
- 26:14Yeah, he there was a few things he said to do with mushrooms,
- 26:19which set off the balcony with multiple different mushroom
- 26:25chants. Then we have Ian Skinner come
- 26:31out and the coldest guy in the room, coolest guy with loads of
- 26:35friends. And as I said at the time,
- 26:39keeping to the mushroom chat a fungi.
- 26:45He then must have been watching Green St because he said I'll
- 26:51who wants it? I'll take you both on.
- 26:54I'm hyped. So I think Skinner may need to
- 26:58stay off the the Monster Energy drinks if that's what he was
- 27:02having ended up. However with MVK versus Ian
- 27:09Skinner. MVK practically had his way with
- 27:17Skinner, even though Ian did get a fair bit of offence in this
- 27:23match. Almost stole it right at the end
- 27:28when Mickey Barnes came back out trying to distract MVK.
- 27:36Skinner went for a roll up, gets kicked out at 2:00.
- 27:42However, a Deaf Valley driver from MVK seals the deal and we
- 27:52we basically have a kind of shouting match between both
- 27:58Barnes and MVK again. So I think we will get that
- 28:04match eventually down the road. I.
- 28:08Think it'll be a stipulated matches, Yeah, like it's going
- 28:12that way. I don't know what type of
- 28:14stipulation they'll go with. Maybe just like a just a
- 28:19hardcore match, ultimate, a tables match would work well
- 28:24between them to I think some sort of hardcore match.
- 28:28I think it's, I think the feud's been going for a little bit now
- 28:32where I think hardcore matches definitely in place.
- 28:40It it feels very much like it's going to go down that
- 28:43stipulation line at least. Our penultimate match of the
- 28:50show was for the TNT Women's Level Up Briefcase and saw
- 28:57Alexis Falcon, Aaliyah, Raven, Lucy, Skye Nightshade and
- 29:04Session Moff Martina all fighting to get that title
- 29:11potential match. What were your your views on
- 29:17this one? It was decent for what it was.
- 29:22Yeah, I think session Moff Martina didn't have too many
- 29:29spots, which was maybe it was a easy night for her.
- 29:34Like I felt like the one that did the most spots in this
- 29:40match, looking really, really good in this match was
- 29:43Nightshade. Yes, she's dominant.
- 29:47She looked a lot better from a singles match with Lucy Sky.
- 29:51I felt like this match type fitted her a lot better than a
- 29:55singles because she's got a lot more women to work with to
- 30:01dominate. Because when you look at the
- 30:05match, Martina was involved very much early on in the contest
- 30:12with a couple of things. Well, you could say the rest of
- 30:19them all have something bubbling away or going on.
- 30:26So you had Nightshade, who is dominant throughout, did the
- 30:32spot where you had all her opponents kind of like lay on
- 30:38the bottom rung of the ropes and just doing a fair few hip
- 30:42attacks. Lucy Sky, who is one of the main
- 30:49kind of like challengers, one of the main E female talents there.
- 30:58Leo Raven, I feel is starting to hush yourself back up.
- 31:04There did definitely felt like that in this match at least.
- 31:10And Falcon, who is really just on a Crest of a wave at the
- 31:15moment. She she feels very much like
- 31:19Derice of last year, where Derice just seems to be all over
- 31:25the place and either winning titles are in big kind of like
- 31:31big match situations and it feels like Falcon is in that
- 31:36role at the moment. That said, this was a chaotic in
- 31:44a good way and really enjoy. I'd go as far to say this was my
- 31:50match of the show, to which the back end of the contest had
- 31:58Falcon handcuffing Lucy Sky's wrists to the lamp post, lamp
- 32:05post, ring post. So that stopped Lucy Sky.
- 32:12And then we saw, I think without doubt my if we did a move of the
- 32:18week, this is probably going to be it.
- 32:23So we had Alexis Falcon and Leah Raven, Falcon versus Raven and
- 32:32we had Leah going to hit her Rebellion DDT off the ring off
- 32:39the middle rope. However, as she went to hit it,
- 32:44Alexis caught her in her clutches or talons if you like
- 32:50and hit off with her head and then managed to survive for the
- 32:54final 30 seconds of this contest to win.
- 33:00Having Falcon the proud owner of a brand new shiny briefcase as
- 33:08as if she needs any more titles and things to carry.
- 33:14Yeah, I I would love to see the end of that match again, because
- 33:20how they executed it from the Rebellion DDT to off with their
- 33:25head was one of the most smoothest and seamless bits I
- 33:35think I saw all all day. To be fair, though, I mean,
- 33:42you're not going to get smoothness on a deathmatch show.
- 33:45Really. I don't think things like that
- 33:47happen. But yeah, this, this was my
- 33:52match of the day, so to speak. So that brings us right to the
- 34:03main event of the afternoon and for the TNT Ignition title, the
- 34:11champion Critchie with Mickey Barnes or as he is now known,
- 34:17Benidorm. Mickey defended against the
- 34:22number one contender in Trent 7. What were your views on this
- 34:31particular match? So it's a tough one to review
- 34:38because like some bits of the match were like wow.
- 34:43And then just a few like basic stuff in the match just looked
- 34:50like to be off a little bit. So you had you had the balcony
- 34:54died from Critchy, which was incredible.
- 34:57Yeah, that was superb. I enjoyed the story that they
- 35:04were put in. In the match.
- 35:06Critchy was trying to do trend sevens moves with him hitting
- 35:11the seven star lariat in the match.
- 35:13That was cool. Multiple times he went for the
- 35:19Birmingham wouldn't execute it. So but then you could see in the
- 35:30match there was a lot of like mistiming the bit where like
- 35:35Critchie went for like a clothesline and he just didn't
- 35:39connect with it. And then Trent stumbles back
- 35:41into the ropes. It was just little bits were
- 35:44like a little bit off but. It's.
- 35:48It was a good title defence. I'll say that it was a better
- 35:56match than than the Jacobs 1 for me.
- 35:59Yeah, it was better than the Jacobs one.
- 36:02Because the last match felt when it was the Jacobs one, it felt
- 36:05very much like Luke did everything and Critchie then
- 36:10kind of just pulled out like a jackknife pin from out of
- 36:15nowhere to to win. He did try that move again right
- 36:22at the end. And I thought, are they going to
- 36:25kind of come away with Richard just getting beaten down and
- 36:34then he's going to pull this out from nowhere and pull up the
- 36:37surprise win, which he kind of did.
- 36:43But I did watch a bit more of this earlier.
- 36:50When I watched it in real time at the show, I came away from it
- 36:56feeling a bit disappointed. I didn't think it was
- 37:00particularly that good, if I'm being honest.
- 37:05Having watched it back, it was a lot better than how I watched it
- 37:12live. It's still it's, it's hard to
- 37:21really put a friend on where it was just a bit.
- 37:28It was a good match, but it was just, it was an average match
- 37:33really. Trent did everything he could to
- 37:38try and win, but it it almost, it always felt like you were
- 37:44just waiting for Critcher to kind of pull off kind of like a
- 37:49surprise roll up or something along the lines of that.
- 37:56And then and really that's kind of what happened.
- 37:59He got the small package to beat Trent and retain his title.
- 38:08After the match. It saw Seven go to shake his
- 38:10hand, actually hit the Birmingham this time around,
- 38:16froze the belt down at Critchie. I will say this on the match
- 38:21though, fair play to Critchie for taking so many damn chops in
- 38:28this encounter. He must have took, I mean, I
- 38:33haven't counted. He must have took at least 20,
- 38:40at least 20 chops to to his chest in this matchup because
- 38:44every time I seem to either look up or try and peer over
- 38:49someone's head, it was just a chop to creature.
- 38:57But yeah, it wasn't the best title match, to be completely
- 39:03honest, but it wasn't the worst. So it was, as I think Jeff
- 39:12normally says on, on Oggies podcast, it was serviceable.
- 39:16And I think that's where I'll kind of I'll leave that one any
- 39:25more to add on for level up? No covered everything.
- 39:32So we then had a few hours away from the hangar and we then
- 39:41returned to well before we get to the the actual show.
- 39:49The the bit of chaos that was outside of people queuing up and
- 39:57no one. The last time it used to be VIPs
- 40:01went one way and got in, but no one seemed to have a clue what
- 40:05was going on, especially from from our part because we we went
- 40:12to the front to ask. And we then got told to wait to
- 40:17one side and you had I think 3 different queues getting back
- 40:22into the venue, which wasn't, which wasn't great.
- 40:29And then when we got in the venue, we went up into the
- 40:35balcony and it did seem to have been massively oversold to which
- 40:43the ones that were up there earlier, we're now unable to go
- 40:50to the front of the barrier because there were people that
- 40:53weren't there for the first show.
- 40:55So whether it was a case of they've overbooked it, having
- 41:00people just come to the second show.
- 41:04I think if this had been a fusion, it would have been
- 41:06better. But it it wasn't the the best,
- 41:15it's fair to say. And there was a quite a few
- 41:18people that were not happy. So and we had to keep
- 41:25alternating between who went to the front and who went to the
- 41:29back of the group because we had tall people and small people.
- 41:34But we'll, we'll, we'll leave that there.
- 41:39Any who we had a dark match which I did not see other than
- 41:45the ending and that was Ty Archer defeating Hector by count
- 41:51out. What's the whole match?
- 41:54I was at the bar so I did not see what happened at all.
- 42:00It was a really fun, dark match, to be fair.
- 42:02Very good. It was Hector.
- 42:08It was a showcase for Hector. I felt like he was hitting a lot
- 42:13of like the usual heavy hitter powerhouse moves, a lot of
- 42:18corner splashes, couple choke slams, tie Archer, usual Tie
- 42:25Archer just being just an absolute scumbag.
- 42:32There was there was some choice words I heard behind me.
- 42:36The ending to the match, I felt like it was a very clever ending
- 42:41because the big guy didn't take the pin and it's sort of like
- 42:48it's a defeat, but it's not a pinfall defeat, so it's sort of
- 42:51a clean way to start him out on extreme.
- 43:00This. From where I was, it looked a
- 43:03case of they'd gone behind the guardrails and then I think
- 43:08Archer might have put the guardrails back.
- 43:10Yeah, Archer locked him up with the guardrails.
- 43:12Yeah, yeah. Because Hector couldn't get over
- 43:15him, and he couldn't loosen the gates to get to get through.
- 43:19Yeah, because he went through, if I think he went for like a
- 43:22running splash onto the guardrail, he's missed it and
- 43:27he's run completely straight through the guardrail and then
- 43:31Pies ran back into the rinks. I think it was up to like a 8
- 43:35count and then put the guardrail back up and then got the 10
- 43:39count. Yeah, So that, that was a again,
- 43:48it's been, I think that's is that three and oh, now for three
- 43:52and oh, well, three and oh, for me at least.
- 43:56Yeah. Crow Callum Crow in September
- 44:02beat Lucian last time out and he beat Hector this time.
- 44:08So that brings us to DOA 2026 for the death match tournament.
- 44:19And we had a well, I I thought they were going to go down the
- 44:24route of every winner advance to a final.
- 44:29They didn't. We had a semi final and then a
- 44:33grand final if you like. So the opening of the DOA
- 44:42tournament matches was a Gusset and Taipei death match which
- 44:48featured Tim Strange and Iceman. What what was your view on this
- 44:56one? There wasn't much to it really.
- 44:59It was. It was very, very basic.
- 45:05Yeah. It was it was a bloody mark.
- 45:08But like, yeah, wasn't really too much.
- 45:15The only spot that I can really, really remember from it is so
- 45:20Tim Strange's lay on the map with lots of glass shards on his
- 45:24back. And then Iceman absolutely
- 45:27lashes a chair onto his back a lot, a lot.
- 45:32I just very, very basic death match spots where they're just
- 45:39digging the gussets into the head and back.
- 45:41It was, it was, it was OK. It's it's literally the only
- 45:49kind of thing I have written down of glass plot grass grass
- 45:54glass poured on Tim's back, hit with a chair on the back, and
- 46:00then I've put down not a good. Match.
- 46:02Yeah, it was ice it. I mean, my deathmatch
- 46:08experiences consist only of last September at Frill Kill.
- 46:18That's kind of my other than the odd deathmatch we've had past
- 46:24TNT shows since having seen that I expected more and for the
- 46:35opening match to set the tone. This I it was not for me.
- 46:43If I'm being honest, it was, it just felt a case of Iceman did a
- 46:51few moves Strange did and like one or two both used weapons to
- 47:00kind of get bloody as quick as they could because I think they
- 47:03knew it wasn't going to go along.
- 47:06And it finished about 6 minutes, 31 Strange hits a lariat on
- 47:15Iceman to get the win. Yeah, it's, I didn't
- 47:22particularly think it was a good match, but who am I to argue
- 47:28with people? I think it was.
- 47:31We then moved to match #2 another first round encounter
- 47:38which was a 2 out of 3 extreme doors death match.
- 47:44This featured Schlack versus Jack Harrop.
- 47:49This was a this was more of what I was thinking of, a death match
- 47:58to which you had Harop put slack through the door to go one nil
- 48:04up. Yeah, it was in the first 3
- 48:06seconds straight away. Slack then takes Harop on the
- 48:12outside and both men are basically bloody at this point.
- 48:19Head butts, Weapons. Harop then uses a couple light
- 48:25tubes, to which DJ King informs us that British light tubes are
- 48:31harder than American light tubes.
- 48:36There's your fact of the day. And as soon as he says that, we
- 48:41cut to the camera having slack, basically getting a light tube
- 48:46and eating it. Absolutely crazy spot to see and
- 48:55especially as we were up in the balcony and had a a couple of
- 48:59people going out of their minds watching this happening,
- 49:05especially who it was that was going mad over it.
- 49:11We then have Slack moving out of the way when Jack comes running
- 49:16at him as he had AI think it was light tubes they had stuck to to
- 49:23the board. I think it was pretty much back
- 49:25on all of them. Yeah, like.
- 49:28So Jack comes running towards Slack with the board being lined
- 49:33up out in the crowd, up against one of the guardrails, run
- 49:39straight into it to even it up 1 apiece.
- 49:45We get back into the ring and we have Slack Spearing Jack.
- 49:51Pretty much a bookend to this match really as it saw tables
- 49:58being turned and Schleck Spearing.
- 50:02Jack threw a third door to win the contest. 2 falls to 1.
- 50:12I don't know if I've have I asked you about this match?
- 50:17No. I'll ask you any miles, what did
- 50:20you think of this match? It was a quick match.
- 50:26It was quite a fun quick match. It felt longer and it was a lot
- 50:33better as well than the first match.
- 50:35Yeah. So we have that.
- 50:44And then Jack asks for the microphone, tries to cut an
- 50:50emotional promo. We come particularly here half
- 50:55the time because the microphone wasn't really being picked up
- 51:00where we were. However, his dad Iceman comes
- 51:05out, tries to speak sense to him, starts having a go at him
- 51:12and says I'm, I'm not Iceman. This is your dad talking.
- 51:15And then I think we had, was it Iceman dad or chance of going
- 51:24round? And then he made the the
- 51:30announcement that the first entrant of the Tournament of
- 51:34Death in September when CZW come to the UK and it will feature
- 51:41Jack Harrock as the first entrant into the tournament.
- 51:51We then moved to the third of the first round matches and the
- 51:58Barbed Wire Massacre death match between Tommy and Isaac N Miles.
- 52:09What was your view on this one this.
- 52:10Was my favourite match of the night.
- 52:12This was brilliant. Really really enjoyed Tommy
- 52:16versus Isaac. Two guys with a very, very
- 52:19similar gimmick. Isaac being given his first ever
- 52:23singles death match. I thought he was brilliant.
- 52:27Yeah, he fits the mould of a death match wrestler.
- 52:32He just looked really, really good in ring with Tom B Tom B's
- 52:38a guy I've seen a fair few Times Now and he just his move set and
- 52:45everything he does in the ring is just perfect.
- 52:51Yeah. He's such a good wrestler.
- 52:55I'll, I'll say this for it. If you were going to have, I'll
- 53:00say this for the next match as well.
- 53:02If you wanted to have your first or build on your current death
- 53:12match matches, I think you couldn't have asked for anyone
- 53:16better. I'll say for this one first with
- 53:20Tom B because he's one of the best deathmatch ones in the UK
- 53:27and to then have Isaac N if they ever did like a deathmatch tag
- 53:33team thing, these two together would make a great team I feel
- 53:38just purely on the look it has to be said right?
- 53:46Notes that I have Tall N takes the brunt of the offence in this
- 53:55encounter, almost kind of trying to show that I can do this sort
- 54:03of wrestling and he, I mean, he pretty much put his body through
- 54:10a lot in this contest. We have a spot where Tombi is in
- 54:17the ropes which has barbed wire on it and Isaac N just pulling
- 54:23his arms towards him, but on me he's caught in the barbed wire.
- 54:31We I don't know if you've seen it, you may have seen the clip
- 54:36since, but there is a part of the match where blood is
- 54:42literally spurting. From yeah.
- 54:46And so you know. On the night it looked kind of
- 54:52gnarly with because you could clearly see like there was a
- 54:56lump on his on his head. And with all the kind of like
- 55:00the the tattoo needles and everything being used in this
- 55:08matchup. I did not see the blood spurting
- 55:16reminding me a bit of the scene from The Simpsons where I think
- 55:22it's the I want to say it's like crusty burger or something like
- 55:26that where you have like red paint flight flight off this
- 55:31moving kind of head wasn't to the same degree obviously, but
- 55:39you could just see it spurting away there.
- 55:44North then sends both him and Tommy crashing through a bed of
- 55:49barbed wire, which was a hell of a spot that was.
- 55:54In my opinion, best, best spot of the show.
- 55:57The crowd, yeah, that shit for that.
- 56:01Because you knew it was going to come.
- 56:04But I think everyone expected probably Tommy to have done it
- 56:08to North. Because they were going for it.
- 56:11A crucifix because the Isaac was on Tom B shoulders and it was
- 56:20looking like. I think he was going to do A1
- 56:23winged Angel. A1 Winged Angel, Yeah.
- 56:26And then N kind of managed to wriggle free and then sent both
- 56:31of them crashing through it. Yeah, with a choke bomb.
- 56:35Yeah, it. That was a hell of a spot.
- 56:40I think I did manage to capture that and then Isaac seemed to
- 56:47grow more into this contest, it felt.
- 56:51And then as it looked like he was going to he was on course
- 56:54for victory. His former tag team partner Rob
- 56:58Drake came out from the back, attacks Isaac with a baseball
- 57:05bat wrapped in barbed wire, strikes his former partner in
- 57:12the upper back. Tommy takes advantage of this
- 57:17with a running kick in the corner, hits A1 Winged Angel
- 57:23through a light tube covered in barbed wire to get the 1-2 and
- 57:29the three. Tommy wins in 10 minutes and 18
- 57:34minutes. 10 Yeah, 10 minutes 18 seconds.
- 57:39Sorry. After the match, Drake hangs
- 57:44around, uses the barbed wire bat on his partner, leaving him in a
- 57:53puddle of blood. Not before tasting the blood of
- 57:58his former tag team partner. And no, no, Rob, no, please
- 58:06don't do that. Hepatitis.
- 58:09But I get the feeling we're going to get a pan the pan the
- 58:15pun blood feud between these two at a future show.
- 58:23We then came to our final first round match, the Four Corners of
- 58:30Pain match. I could be biassed on this, but
- 58:36this was my match of the night. Big effing Joe takes on Luke
- 58:45Jacobs. Oh, that there's so much to
- 58:52write about. Yeah, I'll agree.
- 58:54I'll agree with you as well. It was, it was between that and
- 58:59the previous match. Yeah, it's best big matches on
- 59:02the whole show. The best two matches on this
- 59:06card for me was North and Tommy and Jacobs and Joe by by far so
- 59:19big effing Joe has taken exception to Jacobs thinking
- 59:24he's a death match wrestler. Joe tries to intimidate Joe.
- 59:29I'm sorry. Joe tries to intimidate Luke
- 59:32with a light tube, but then Luke just grabs a tube of his own,
- 59:40breaks it over his head and drags the sharp bit of the light
- 59:48tube across his chest and we just get straight into this
- 59:52match, which did not let up for the whole 12 minutes and 48
- 59:58seconds it was. It was fun carnage throughout
- 1:00:10this entire match, neither man particularly giving an inch.
- 1:00:21Honestly, there's so much that I'm I don't even think I can fit
- 1:00:25it all in little bits that I have written down.
- 1:00:31Jacob's back was absolutely covered in blood with light
- 1:00:37tubes and weaponry. Joe pulls out a a jiff lemon of
- 1:00:45a lime and lemon juice. Things are available.
- 1:00:53Pours off the back of Jacobs which I think we all wins That
- 1:01:00and could loosely feel but not as much as Jacobs would hearing
- 1:01:07back on the stream. Jacobs definitely did not like
- 1:01:14that. Did not come across at the venue
- 1:01:18obviously because it was a bit louder which the stream did not
- 1:01:22pick up. Joe then.
- 1:01:25This was my annoying part of this match.
- 1:01:29Joe breaking 9 light tubes over Luke's head in the corner with
- 1:01:34the referee passing him light tubes.
- 1:01:39It was like the Bugs Bunny cartoon of the magician putting
- 1:01:44the swords into the basket and randomly being passed the swords
- 1:01:50when it's Bugs Bunny doing it. We were going mad in the balcony
- 1:01:56going why are you passing him the light tubes?
- 1:02:00Even DJ King mentions this on commentary.
- 1:02:04It did why is one thing. However he breaks 9 over the
- 1:02:12head of Luke. The final one Luke hits over Joe
- 1:02:18and hits a stiff running lariat. A Death Valley driver by Joe has
- 1:02:25Luke kicking out at one who fires up, and then the match
- 1:02:30ends soon after with Joe hitting a running tombstone through two
- 1:02:37chairs with light tube set up across it.
- 1:02:42Hell of a match. Hell of a match.
- 1:02:49Files I will say about this match, I really enjoyed that
- 1:02:54Luke implemented the strong style into Death match.
- 1:02:58Yeah, it was like nothing I have ever seen in a death match.
- 1:03:04I've seen quite a few death matches, but this was cool to
- 1:03:07see that Luke brought the strong style into it and it actually
- 1:03:12looked like he was going to defeat Big Joe on multiple
- 1:03:16occasions. As you say it, it was like we
- 1:03:22said previously on other matches, it was a clash of
- 1:03:25styles where I think Luke knows he's not a what you'd call a
- 1:03:32death match wrestler. He's.
- 1:03:36He's pretty awkward. He's a, I'm trying to think of
- 1:03:39the right term and I can't think of it, but he's not your.
- 1:03:43He's a traditional wrestler, as you would say.
- 1:03:45He's a strong style wrestler. So he knows he can't do
- 1:03:53everything that Joe can do because Joe's got too many
- 1:03:57tricks up his sleeve and knows every insurance and outs of
- 1:04:01death match wrestling. And Luke effectively just
- 1:04:04thought, right, I'm just I'm just going to come straight at
- 1:04:07you. I'm going to be physical.
- 1:04:10I'm going to just use strong style.
- 1:04:13And I think, as you say, that helped make this match even
- 1:04:17better because if they just gone down the whole route of it being
- 1:04:22right, we'll just do a death match.
- 1:04:24You do this, you do that. I don't think it would have had
- 1:04:27the same kind of like grip it had on people, but to
- 1:04:34incorporate, as you say, strong style in a death match setting.
- 1:04:41And then with everything that went on, I mean, we still had
- 1:04:45weapons being used and back and forth, but it was so
- 1:04:52entertaining and it was a good story that Jacobs was basically
- 1:04:58giving everything to Joe to just say, right, I know I'm not a
- 1:05:02deaf match wrestler, but I'm going to prove to you that I can
- 1:05:06be in this and I'm going to take you as far as I can.
- 1:05:10And that is what happened in this Miles.
- 1:05:14I'll tell you what Luke reminds me of.
- 1:05:17This is like a really, really good comparison.
- 1:05:21Luke reminds me of Kurt Angle. You know when Kurt Angle used to
- 1:05:24do all the extreme matches, your cage matches?
- 1:05:29Luke is basically the UK version of Kurt Angle.
- 1:05:34He can go into any match type. You'd see Kurt Angle in all them
- 1:05:40extreme steel cage matches that you to do and you'd come out
- 1:05:46bleed in an absolutely battered, but Kurt would absolutely put in
- 1:05:50a shift. Yeah.
- 1:05:53So yeah, it was like watching Kurt Angle.
- 1:05:58On that point, I would say that this is almost I mean, we we
- 1:06:04Jacobs has done a death match before and so it's not
- 1:06:08dismissing that before. However, I would say that you
- 1:06:14making that comparison with Angle, this is almost his kind
- 1:06:18of king of the ring Angle versus Shane McMahon moment for me,
- 1:06:26because you you know what Jacobs can do, but you didn't think he
- 1:06:29could be as aggressive or as violent as as he got in that
- 1:06:39match talking about Angle and Shane.
- 1:06:44And when he when we came out of that match, everyone looked at
- 1:06:48angle differently and thought, right, So he's not just a great
- 1:06:52wrestler. He can absolutely be like an ass
- 1:06:56kicking machine as well and be as violent as possible.
- 1:07:02But we've Luke this felt that way of strong, the most top
- 1:07:09strong style wrestler, one of the best wrestlers, but this
- 1:07:15just gives him an extra edge. I think it's it's another kind
- 1:07:19of like string to his bow, so to speak.
- 1:07:24I think if he did do another death match, I think I think
- 1:07:27people will take him more seriously because I think a few
- 1:07:32didn't. They just thought, Oh, it's a
- 1:07:34bit of a novel to this having Jacob's in it, but it felt like
- 1:07:42Jacobs might actually want to want to do more deathmatch
- 1:07:47possibly. I suppose it's up to him in what
- 1:07:50he wants to do. But yeah, it's that is a good
- 1:07:57comparison about him and and Kurt Angle.
- 1:08:04We then moved to the second round or semifinals if you would
- 1:08:11much prefer, with a gossip goal match.
- 1:08:18I mean gossip to me makes me think of like a thing that goes
- 1:08:27round the stomach. And this is anything, I don't
- 1:08:33think the gossip thing particularly worked on any level
- 1:08:37in these things, but that's that's a side note.
- 1:08:43Anyway, it was Tim Strange versus Tom B lasted 7 minutes
- 1:08:51and 8 seconds. Not a whole lot can really add
- 1:08:58to this other than Tom B getting the tattoo needles out.
- 1:09:10Kind of stab Strange a few times in the head and the chest with
- 1:09:15them. Brings out a Kruger glove,
- 1:09:21starts kind of scratching Tom over the chest with it.
- 1:09:27Strange, just battles on regardless.
- 1:09:31Hits a big lariat to get the 123.
- 1:09:37We did have an incident where a well they said a meat cleaver.
- 1:09:44I don't think it was a meat cleaver.
- 1:09:48It it was, it was like a chopping.
- 1:09:51It was like a wood lop in. Yeah, which was used on Strange
- 1:09:57during the match. Which who?
- 1:10:00Who unsurprisingly drew blood. Tommy then put the Kruger glove
- 1:10:06in the head of Strange, and Strange for a couple of seconds
- 1:10:10could not get the glove out of his head, quite literally, as
- 1:10:16the kind of like the claws stuck in his head a bit too long.
- 1:10:22But yeah, Strange wins with a massive warrior to get the 123
- 1:10:28making his way to the the grand final.
- 1:10:34I'll mention the other semi who's and then I'll get your
- 1:10:37reaction to the two matches. The other semi final was the
- 1:10:44Thumbtack Death match and saw a total of 124,000 and eight
- 1:10:53thumbtacks being used. Not sure about that one.
- 1:10:57Yeah, so that featured Slack and Big F in Joe. 6 minutes and 33
- 1:11:07seconds this one went. They brought all the fun tacks
- 1:11:12out in pretty much like plastic. Storage containers.
- 1:11:17And storage containers. I missed one moment which seemed
- 1:11:23to be the biggest one because I was chatting to someone and when
- 1:11:28I turn my head all I saw was bum tacks flying into the crowd and
- 1:11:37I will have to quickly find a message that Nikki sent me while
- 1:11:47I try and find it. But Oh yes, please include that
- 1:11:55Affairs got covered in tax and loved it.
- 1:11:59So there you go Nikki, I have included it but yeah, those
- 1:12:04tacks shout a lot of people and I will not be surprised if it
- 1:12:09went and a lot of drinks. In the end though, it saw Slack
- 1:12:15making the final with a leg drop off Brett's rope and saw him
- 1:12:22facing Team Strange about 10 minutes after this contest.
- 1:12:30There wasn't a big turn around I will be honest.
- 1:12:35That said, what was your assessment across the 2 semi
- 1:12:39final matches that good? I don't know, to me, should I?
- 1:12:52I felt like maybe them stipulations should have been in
- 1:12:56the first round. I don't think I don't think they
- 1:13:00were the right stipulations for the semis.
- 1:13:04But the the whole gossip thing, the.
- 1:13:08Gossip I. Did not.
- 1:13:10The gossip The gossip matches didn't work.
- 1:13:13No, it made, I mean, if you go back to the first match, which
- 1:13:19was a gossip in Taipei, Death Match I the closest we came
- 1:13:25really to Taipei was both participants hands were covered
- 1:13:32in like tape and that was the closest we got to Taipei.
- 1:13:38Even when the glass was like spread out, we didn't get that.
- 1:13:45The gussets look more like carpet grippers than what I
- 1:13:50expected gossip to be, but any hell yeah.
- 1:14:00And any more to to add to this semi final or or loss of words?
- 1:14:07The thumb tap match was good. I enjoyed.
- 1:14:10I enjoyed that. Yeah, folk, for what I saw of
- 1:14:14it, it wasn't a bad match. Yeah.
- 1:14:19Again, I couldn't see a lot of this show due to it being
- 1:14:26overbooked, which is my biggest problem with it.
- 1:14:33And kind of like where the camera was set up, they had two
- 1:14:37barriers to stop people knocking the cameras over, which isn't a
- 1:14:41problem, but you could easily have fitted another like two
- 1:14:46people either side and it still would have been nowhere near the
- 1:14:49camera. But hey ho.
- 1:14:58What was your take on the the final one, the Ultimate Death
- 1:15:03Match? The ultimate death match.
- 1:15:06Yeah, not how I would have worded it.
- 1:15:11Yeah, Ultimate death match. And it lasted 4 minutes and 43
- 1:15:16seconds. Your final is the shortest match
- 1:15:19of the hold the away. And.
- 1:15:24Yeah. I mean my my notes basically
- 1:15:29just go light tube from by Slack misses, Tim hits, Scott hits
- 1:15:35refs got Bell in the head. Tim goes for a glass pane back
- 1:15:39first. And then Strange basically grabs
- 1:15:44all the light tubes, all the weaponry, piles on slack, does a
- 1:15:49splash and wins. It felt very much a case of
- 1:15:56we've overran massively. You got less than 5 minutes.
- 1:16:03And I think that if they had far more time, they probably would
- 1:16:07have done a whole lot more. But to have it as the ultimate
- 1:16:14death match, and I mean, really sad all happened in in this in
- 1:16:24this match, really. Yeah, it it was a bit of a damp
- 1:16:31squib, to put it, to put it one way.
- 1:16:37After the match though, it saw Slack informing us that he will
- 1:16:41be back in September for that Tournament of Death crossover.
- 1:16:47We've TNT and CZW. Yeah, as I said earlier, compare
- 1:16:59this to Frill Kill and I mean to put a well found a point on it,
- 1:17:09it was a disappointing tournament.
- 1:17:12Yeah. I know a few have said it was
- 1:17:15like one of the best ever. I'm thinking I think that's a
- 1:17:20lot of spin. If if this was the best DOA
- 1:17:24tournament, then the others must have been pretty poor in
- 1:17:31fairness, because this for how it was built and all the hype
- 1:17:37other than the Jacobs Joe and the the Tom BN match.
- 1:17:47No, no, I think it was just one of those where it was an off an
- 1:17:54off show. It could have been a lot better.
- 1:17:58And it's sometimes that happens. Sometimes just things don't go
- 1:18:06to plan. And I think on the whole of this
- 1:18:11tournament, it just didn't particularly click at all
- 1:18:16compared compared as I say, to Frill kill where every match
- 1:18:20hit. But we we learn and we move on.
- 1:18:30Our main event of the night was a death match with Tape Mayfares
- 1:18:37and Emerson Jane. At the start of this show we had
- 1:18:44Tape May fairs coming out with his clipboard in which he was
- 1:18:49told if he was to get 20,000 signatures.
- 1:18:55This match with Emerson Jane which was the TNT World Title
- 1:19:01and TNT Extreme Division title belts as they were both being
- 1:19:09defended title the title. If he could get 20,000 votes or
- 1:19:1520,000 signatures sorry it would be a traditional run-of-the-mill
- 1:19:23one-on-one. If he couldn't get 20,000 then
- 1:19:29it would be a death match. We had take tell us that he hit
- 1:19:3620,000 only for Session Moff to come out and inform everyone
- 1:19:43that she had footage and had Mayfair's being caught out
- 1:19:50writing multiple signatures and having apparently Darwin phoned
- 1:19:57him to say he would not be at the show but there was a plan
- 1:20:03being put in action. What this plan was, we would
- 1:20:08soon find out. So with all that said, we had
- 1:20:15Mayfair's versus Emerson Jane world title versus extreme
- 1:20:21division title. What were your thoughts on this
- 1:20:25encounter? So the beginning of the match,
- 1:20:32Tate being a complete hit bag, removing all the weapons and
- 1:20:38traditional standard match. I did like that but.
- 1:20:41That was, that was interesting. It was it was nice to see.
- 1:20:47Yeah, it was quite funny. Yeah, I did enjoy it.
- 1:20:52And then as the match progressed and got further into the match,
- 1:20:58it turned into so it was like a three stages of hell much sort
- 1:21:02of. It started off like traditional
- 1:21:05singles match and then it turned a bit more hardcore with a few
- 1:21:08like chair shots and like a lot, it turned to a little bit more
- 1:21:13hardcore. And then as the match went on,
- 1:21:18it wasn't, it wasn't a death match by no means.
- 1:21:21It was not death match. No, you had the death match
- 1:21:24elements, shall we say? It was.
- 1:21:27I'd class it more as a hardcore very hardcore match, but not
- 1:21:33death match. No way it was death match.
- 1:21:39But we we had a fair few things in this match.
- 1:21:42We had Mayfair's who tried to tie Emerson's hands to the ring
- 1:21:49rope so he could use his belt. But.
- 1:21:51He didn't know how to do or not. Didn't know how to do or not MSN
- 1:21:57I think tried to hold on to the cables to make out she couldn't
- 1:22:02get free and after taking like the second lash the the pain was
- 1:22:12too much and she kind of let go at the crowd Boo because he
- 1:22:18couldn't make a knot. Then we had the moment of Amazon
- 1:22:25Jane taking a dart. Oh sorry Tate trying to skew a
- 1:22:31dart into Emerson Jane's cheek. Tate kept kind of debating, do I
- 1:22:38do it, do I not? He didn't want to.
- 1:22:41And as he's trying, Emerson just shouts, oh for fuck's sake,
- 1:22:46don't be such a pussy and basically just does it herself,
- 1:22:50which mortified Tate. I'm trying to think.
- 1:22:58I'm trying to think what we had. Emerson does something to take
- 1:23:01and I can't remember what it was.
- 1:23:04And then she gets a a cigarette out and smokes it and I can't
- 1:23:09remember what the move was in the lead up to it.
- 1:23:16It's completely skipped my. Head Yeah, I can't remember
- 1:23:19either. Yeah, I hate it hit.
- 1:23:22I think, I think she just got the belt and started lashing
- 1:23:26him. Oh, yeah, I think that was what
- 1:23:29happened. Yeah, I think that was what the
- 1:23:31thing was. So Emerson just sat there, pulls
- 1:23:34up a chair, rests her feet on Titan, smokes a cigarette then.
- 1:23:43Tate hit a light tube shot. Tate did a couple of light tube
- 1:23:50then yeah it was a strange match because it went from wrestling
- 1:23:57to hardcore death matchy elements.
- 1:24:03And then just I almost had like a bit of humour and a mixture of
- 1:24:11all everything all together. To which we had Tate then
- 1:24:18getting a bag trying to suffocate Emerson, which then
- 1:24:25LED Tom B and Big Joe to come out because Tate has always said
- 1:24:31if he was to win he would ban death match wrestling.
- 1:24:36So they came out. Big Joe gave him a massive choke
- 1:24:41slam. Tom B had used a massive light
- 1:24:45tube on the back of tape to stop him from trying to suffocate
- 1:24:52Emerson. And while both participants were
- 1:24:56down on the mat as Tom B and Big Joe were coming back, the music
- 1:25:04of Tommy Tanner then played with his suitcase on his person.
- 1:25:11He came into the ring, gave the suitcase to referee Deathmatch.
- 1:25:16Greenwood seemed like he was taking his time over whether he
- 1:25:23was going to cash the belt in, all of which play to the fact
- 1:25:29that he had some knuckles or a knuckle duster down his trunks.
- 1:25:36Pulled it out, smashed Emerson in the in the jaw when it looked
- 1:25:44like he was going to hit Tate and with that grabs Mayfair's
- 1:25:50pulls him on top of Emerson to get the 123 and not just retain
- 1:25:57the world title but now owns the Extreme Division title belt as
- 1:26:04well. We then had drinks being thrown
- 1:26:10WCW style at both Tate and Hannah as the two of them just
- 1:26:19revelled in their victory and the long reign continues on in
- 1:26:26TNT. I think they kind of signposted
- 1:26:35what was going to happen at the end in the sense that when
- 1:26:42Mayfair's was on the phone to Darwin at the start, he
- 1:26:45mentioned about knuckle dusters. And when we got to the spot of
- 1:26:52Tanner pulling out the knuckle dusters, you immediately knew
- 1:26:56what was going to happen if we didn't know beforehand.
- 1:27:03But I think with Tanner as a rule breaking out, I think that
- 1:27:09is I think that could help freshen up Mayfair's title rain.
- 1:27:18I know a lot of people want the the rain to end because it's
- 1:27:22gone on for too long, but I think with this new dynamic now,
- 1:27:28I think it's going to make things interesting.
- 1:27:32What's your take? Yeah, a lot of a few people said
- 1:27:38it was an overbooked ending, but I enjoyed the ending.
- 1:27:43To be fair. I really, really, really enjoyed
- 1:27:46that much. It's different.
- 1:27:52It it's I think now it's going to create like a little mini
- 1:28:01feud between death match wrestlers and the Londoners.
- 1:28:09It's it's definitely an interesting case.
- 1:28:14It's basically North and South in a sense, yeah.
- 1:28:19So it's interesting to know where where they take this now.
- 1:28:24I think that there is a case you could say of it's reached, I
- 1:28:29think you'd said it previously. And a few of us have that have
- 1:28:33watched far more TNT than I have of the rain's gone a bit stale
- 1:28:40slightly of there's only so many times you can have Darwin like
- 1:28:45interfere and kind of like help take win down.
- 1:28:51We not being there and having someone new being added.
- 1:28:57I mean, they could still go down the same route of that of if
- 1:29:01it's not down when it's Tanner. But if they do something with
- 1:29:06the trio, it will make this rain even better I think.
- 1:29:12Yeah, because you could have, you can have just a Tuck team
- 1:29:17match, you can have Tanner, you can have star winning versus Tom
- 1:29:22B, Big Joe and Emerson. Yeah, it's it will be.
- 1:29:27Another one thing you could add is if you can get a death match
- 1:29:33wrestler that's Southern and include them, then you've got
- 1:29:39like an extra, you've got someone that can do the death
- 1:29:44match wrestling, defend the extreme division title.
- 1:29:48Yeah, Tate doesn't have to. I don't, I don't think I know
- 1:29:52any Southern death match wrestlers.
- 1:29:54Maybe one of the guys from like CXW.
- 1:29:56Maybe I don't know who actually does like the CXW shows.
- 1:30:02So that or someone that's can do like very like hardcore.
- 1:30:08There will be someone. There's always someone.
- 1:30:13But yeah, that was your TNT review show.
- 1:30:21I'll ask you because I've, I've got to that stage now.
- 1:30:28Out of what's your star rating for this?
- 1:30:31Oh, I'll ask you on the first show first.
- 1:30:35So I gave the ignition show of seven.
- 1:30:41I gave the DOA of five. I'd probably go along with that.
- 1:30:49I I think I'd definitely go along with that.
- 1:30:55But I think you've made the point before of the afternoon
- 1:30:57shows seem to be better than than the evening.
- 1:31:01It feels quite overbooked at times.
- 1:31:04The evening shows compared to the the day and the day shows
- 1:31:09feel more easier to like digest and get into more.
- 1:31:17That said, though, I do love takes title reign so long make
- 1:31:26menu. But yeah, that is the end of
- 1:31:31this episode. Not for for us to because we
- 1:31:35doing a double duty, but thanks again to Miles for now at least.
- 1:31:45Hopefully you'll hear us on the next episode where we will be
- 1:31:51reviewing future shock test of the faithful at the Manchester
- 1:31:58MMU, where we will have an extra special guest on show 2 of that
- 1:32:06particular episode. So for me, brothers and him,
- 1:32:14Miles, we will catch you on the next episode.
- 1:32:26Where's Stop? Where's Stop?
