- 0:55Speaker 3: to our interview. I am sitting with uh somebody who
- 0:59Speaker 3: has been a part of Bachelor in Paradise for how
- 1:01Speaker 3: many years? Eight seasons and there's This was season ten,
- 1:04Speaker 3: so you missed the first two, but you were on
- 1:06Speaker 3: one of those seasons. Yeah, so I was on three,
- 1:09Speaker 3: and then I was the bartender for four, five, six, seven, eight.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Nine and ten.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Goodness gracious, uh, I want to just start because eight
- 1:20Speaker 3: eight years, eight seasons of anything is a long time.
- 1:23Speaker 3: When you show up to paradise, does it feel like
- 1:26Speaker 3: home to you? Well, this one didn't because we went
- 1:29Speaker 3: to a new location. We went to Costa Rica. I
- 1:32Speaker 3: mean we did the first nine seasons in Sallylyta, so
- 1:35Speaker 3: that felt like home. I knew that place very well.
- 1:38Speaker 3: What was funny is that the audience knows it really
- 1:40Speaker 3: well too. And in production we had have all these
- 1:43Speaker 3: like code names for things like jungle path or tree
- 1:46Speaker 3: house or hobbit hole or boom Boom room, and then
- 1:49Speaker 3: it became part of like the lore of Bachelor Nation,
- 1:53Speaker 3: like they started picking up on it and using it,
- 1:55Speaker 3: which is very funny. So, but this season felt very
- 1:59Speaker 3: different because it was in a new location. But like
- 2:03Speaker 3: if every season has a theme, the theme of this
- 2:05Speaker 3: one was change. Like everything was different, you know. We
- 2:11Speaker 3: we moved locations, we brought in the Goldens, and then
- 2:15Speaker 3: all of a sudden, we turn it into a game
- 2:17Speaker 3: show with a money element and all these relationship tests,
- 2:21Speaker 3: and it was just completely different. So to answer your question, no,
- 2:25Speaker 3: it felt like doing a completely different show for me.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Did you need that? Was that exciting for you?
- 2:30Speaker 5: I think that, you know, the only constant in life
- 2:34Speaker 5: is change, and I think that if you're not changing
- 2:36Speaker 5: and evolving, you're gonna be left behind. The show and
- 2:39Speaker 5: the ip is and the fans are huge, but I
- 2:43Speaker 5: think at some point you need to pivot to trying
- 2:46Speaker 5: different things and seeing what works. And I'll be the
- 2:48Speaker 5: first to admit, like, some things that we did I
- 2:50Speaker 5: think were amazing, and like we need to implement going forward,
- 2:54Speaker 5: and some things I think didn't work as well and
- 2:56Speaker 5: we need to revert back to like what it was originally.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Like a couple examples, like I knew the audience was
- 3:05Speaker 5: going to be upset with the song being different, and
- 3:09Speaker 5: halfway through the season the song came back.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Hell, I want to know because we were I mean,
- 3:13Speaker 3: I was very vocal about not liking the song being different.
- 3:17Speaker 3: It did feel like Bachelor Nation on at least on
- 3:19Speaker 3: social media, was like we we missed the song and
- 3:21Speaker 3: then it did go back Was that a pivot mid
- 3:24Speaker 3: season by production, do you think or was that always
- 3:26Speaker 3: the plan?
- 3:27Speaker 4: Don't. I have no idea.
- 3:28Speaker 5: I could be totally wrong, but I assume that's a
- 3:29Speaker 5: note for ABC being like, bring the song back.
- 3:32Speaker 4: People are up. I like that they're listening to the audience.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Absolutely, And that's one thing that I think that a
- 3:37Speaker 5: lot of people in the past have criticized the show
- 3:40Speaker 5: for is that they don't listen to the audience. It's
- 3:42Speaker 5: not the Bachelor we wanted, it's not the Bachelrette we wanted,
- 3:45Speaker 5: And so I think that that was cool. They made
- 3:47Speaker 5: some other tweaks too, Like you know, in the past,
- 3:50Speaker 5: we would always do credit roll, which is kind of
- 3:52Speaker 5: like the silly scenes that happened while the credits are rolling,
- 3:57Speaker 5: and that kind of wasn't there in the beginning, and
- 3:59Speaker 5: then as season went on, that kind of came back,
- 4:02Speaker 5: you know, the intro with like the silly intros kind
- 4:05Speaker 5: of comes back. And then the things that like veterination
- 4:09Speaker 5: loves were still there, like funny lower thirds, like the chirons,
- 4:13Speaker 5: you know, like it says someone's name and then it
- 4:15Speaker 5: says like some funny stat or whatever it, you know,
- 4:18Speaker 5: applies that thing and then I think that you know,
- 4:22Speaker 5: the the challenges, the relationship challenges, albeit like I know
- 4:27Speaker 5: that the cast was annoyed by it and like, this
- 4:30Speaker 5: is not what they signed up for, and that was
- 4:31Speaker 5: kind of like the conversation that was happening during it.
- 4:34Speaker 5: But after going through it and experiencing it and then
- 4:38Speaker 5: seeing how successful the show was, because if the show's
- 4:41Speaker 5: success is a derivative.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Of who leaves the leaves the beach.
- 4:46Speaker 5: In a couple, then I think that we had one
- 4:49Speaker 5: of the most successful shows we've had in a very
- 4:51Speaker 5: long time. And I think that the challenges and the
- 4:56Speaker 5: relationship exercises that we did helped. I think it showed
- 5:02Speaker 5: people who people really were, and that's like the most
- 5:05Speaker 5: important thing, you know, because when you're on when you're
- 5:09Speaker 5: on a first date, you're kind of just showing your
- 5:12Speaker 5: best self, right, and if you're on a dating show
- 5:16Speaker 5: that's being filmed, you're probably always trying to show your
- 5:18Speaker 5: best self. Understandable, everyone would do it. But if you
- 5:22Speaker 5: get thrown into like a very competitive situation, like your
- 5:25Speaker 5: true colors are going to come out, Like you know,
- 5:27Speaker 5: the cat learned that Dale's very competitive, but like not
- 5:30Speaker 5: in a bad way. Just like a thing that probably
- 5:32Speaker 5: wouldn't have been broached if we did the show the
- 5:34Speaker 5: way we did.
- 5:35Speaker 2: So I think that.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Yes, it pushed couples to the limit, but then it
- 5:41Speaker 5: also like kind of fused them and bonded them more
- 5:44Speaker 5: so than it has in the past, and I like,
- 5:47Speaker 5: I looking back, I think it was a really cool
- 5:49Speaker 5: pivot that we implemented this year, and I hope like
- 5:52Speaker 5: that continues going forward.
- 5:54Speaker 4: You mentioned that.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Really, I mean from the production side to a fan side,
- 6:00Speaker 3: for a successful season be done, it's really what couples
- 6:04Speaker 3: come together. The money element this year was a huge
- 6:07Speaker 3: element to be added in. It wasn't something that you
- 6:10Speaker 3: just mentioned there, and the change that were made, I
- 6:13Speaker 3: think from a fans perspective, the concern was, well, then
- 6:16Speaker 3: love isn't the point here, But if that still is
- 6:20Speaker 3: the marker of success for the team putting together the show,
- 6:23Speaker 3: how do you balance those two things where money is
- 6:25Speaker 3: at the end, especially going forward, You got I think
- 6:28Speaker 3: Paradise got lucky this year with two couples that really
- 6:30Speaker 3: like each other, but if that doesn't always happen, then
- 6:33Speaker 3: it's going to become just a complete game show.
- 6:36Speaker 5: It's never stated, but the truth is the last relationship
- 6:42Speaker 5: challenge is the money. It's what are you going to choose?
- 6:46Speaker 5: And if you chose the money, then you failed that
- 6:50Speaker 5: relationship challenge, right, Yeah, And so.
- 6:52Speaker 2: That's what happened.
- 6:53Speaker 5: They both didn't Both couples didn't choose the money. They
- 6:57Speaker 5: chose love. And I'm still winning the money, of course.
- 6:59Speaker 2: So yeah, like I get it. I understand.
- 7:04Speaker 5: I understand fans bocking at the whole thing, and it
- 7:07Speaker 5: takes away kind of the the magic of paradise. But
- 7:14Speaker 5: if we're asking these people to effectively the mission statement
- 7:18Speaker 5: is is that we hope you leave together in the
- 7:20Speaker 5: in the best world possible. You get engaged. For asking
- 7:23Speaker 5: these people to go do this, I do think. And
- 7:26Speaker 5: it's not like these people are making a lot of
- 7:28Speaker 5: money going on the show. Just so everyone knows, fair enough,
- 7:30Speaker 5: you guys need to know that, like, it's not a
- 7:33Speaker 5: lot of money.
- 7:33Speaker 4: You're not retiring, you're.
- 7:35Speaker 5: Not even close. You're actually probably screwed because you're not
- 7:37Speaker 5: working while you're there. I don't think it's a terrible
- 7:41Speaker 5: thing to be, like, have we got a couple of
- 7:44Speaker 5: dollars if we're gonna get if we're engaged, you know,
- 7:46Speaker 5: we've got a couple of dollars too, you know, used
- 7:49Speaker 5: to buy a place together, or like move in together,
- 7:51Speaker 5: or maybe it goes to a wedding or something like.
- 7:53Speaker 5: I don't think that that's a terrible thing. I can,
- 7:56Speaker 5: you know, hindsight twenty twenty for me, And obviously like
- 7:59Speaker 5: it could have gone tear wrong, but it also would
- 8:01Speaker 5: have been scintillating television if someone chose money over love, right.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Like heartbreaking television, because I really liked the couples that
- 8:08Speaker 3: ended up together. Yeah, I think the big question now
- 8:12Speaker 3: because the changes were drastic, took it a little bit
- 8:16Speaker 3: to use to and then very enjoyable to watch experience
- 8:19Speaker 3: be a part of. And we were all on the
- 8:20Speaker 3: edge of our seats when it came down to that
- 8:23Speaker 3: finale episode.
- 8:24Speaker 4: How do you move forward?
- 8:25Speaker 3: Though the mystery is now revealed true, you're gonna win
- 8:29Speaker 3: money if you stay together, and you're gonna win money
- 8:31Speaker 3: if you break up. So how does the show move
- 8:34Speaker 3: forward and keep this like gripping television that we all
- 8:37Speaker 3: experienced this year?
- 8:38Speaker 5: Yeah, obviously it'll change. You can't have the same thing again.
- 8:41Speaker 5: And so it's going to be a situation of we're
- 8:46Speaker 5: going to pivot. You got to know we're gonna pivot,
- 8:48Speaker 5: but we're not gonna tell you how it's gonna go, right,
- 8:51Speaker 5: But gotta give you my pitch for my show that
- 8:53Speaker 5: I think would be great. Yeah, okay, and I've by
- 8:56Speaker 5: the way, I've pitched this too. I've pitched this to ABC, Jamie.
- 9:01Speaker 5: I pitched this idea to you. So if you make
- 9:03Speaker 5: this show and I don't get a credit where you're
- 9:05Speaker 5: in trouble.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Now we're on record, it's good. Uh. I think.
- 9:10Speaker 5: It would be so fun if we did Camp Paradise
- 9:14Speaker 5: or Camp Bachelor, whatever you want to call it. We
- 9:16Speaker 5: rent out a camp, right, and you do it during
- 9:20Speaker 5: school season, so like there's not kids there. You bring
- 9:24Speaker 5: the most popular Bachelor Nation people to camp and they
- 9:29Speaker 5: have to do camp stuff. So it's like a dragon
- 9:32Speaker 5: boat race and canoe race and underwater basket weaving and
- 9:35Speaker 5: like archery and stuff, and everyone has to go sleep
- 9:38Speaker 5: in different bunks, but you can like sneak out and
- 9:40Speaker 5: go to someone else's bunk and you're doing challenges for money.
- 9:44Speaker 5: But then like with love happens, it's fine. And then
- 9:47Speaker 5: here's where I think it gets great. You can bring
- 9:49Speaker 5: back a bunch of Bachelor Nation favorites who are married
- 9:52Speaker 5: who can't like go and just like canoodle around at
- 9:55Speaker 5: nine o'clock exactly. So like me and you were, we
- 10:00Speaker 5: have counselors and Jesse is like the leader of this
- 10:03Speaker 5: whole thing, and then they'll be like nights where like
- 10:05Speaker 5: the camp counselors are like, we're going into town to
- 10:07Speaker 5: go to the bar, and then someone gets arrested and
- 10:09Speaker 5: Jesse's got to come and bail us out. I can
- 10:12Speaker 5: see it being so fun. And the thing is that
- 10:14Speaker 5: it's hard to convince a bunch of people who are
- 10:17Speaker 5: beautiful and you know, don't have a whole lot of
- 10:21Speaker 5: problems in their lives to come to Paradise to potentially
- 10:23Speaker 5: look bad. But if you told any adult you want
- 10:26Speaker 5: to go to camp, yes I do.
- 10:29Speaker 2: That sounds amazing. So anyways, Camp Bachelor is my idea,
- 10:33Speaker 2: and I think we should do it.
- 10:33Speaker 3: I actually love the idea because I just said on
- 10:35Speaker 3: our last episode of the Almost Famous podcast, one of
- 10:38Speaker 3: my favorite scenes this whole season of Paradise is when
- 10:41Speaker 3: they had to camp, and I like this was it
- 10:45Speaker 3: was a great mix. We just got done. You just
- 10:48Speaker 3: hosted the reunion the finale with everybody did a great job.
- 10:52Speaker 3: But one of the things that were said, Kat said,
- 10:55Speaker 3: I went to Paradise because there is air conditioning this year.
- 10:58Speaker 4: That's great. I don't. I think that's a bad thing.
- 11:01Speaker 3: However, I want to see beautiful people in very uncomfortable situations.
- 11:06Speaker 3: I miss that. I missed that about Paradise. I think
- 11:08Speaker 3: your idea matches that because that's what was going on
- 11:11Speaker 3: at the camp.
- 11:12Speaker 4: They were breaking down.
- 11:13Speaker 3: If you would have left them out there for another hour,
- 11:15Speaker 3: you had pure panic happening at Paradise. Yeah, I liked it.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I would love to watch that. I'd love to be
- 11:21Speaker 3: a part of that. And I know you and I
- 11:24Speaker 3: would be the ones sneaking out to go to the
- 11:26Speaker 3: bar that could get in trouble.
- 11:28Speaker 5: I can just like imagine it now, like we're wearing
- 11:30Speaker 5: like red shorts that are two shirt like American Summer America,
- 11:35Speaker 5: but for vaccination.
- 11:36Speaker 2: I'm telling you it's a gold idea.
- 11:39Speaker 4: It's a great ship.
- 11:48Speaker 6: Okay. I have to put you on to these leggings
- 11:51Speaker 6: I've been obsessed with lately. They're from this brand called
- 11:53Speaker 6: Tona and get this, the designer behind them also created
- 11:58Speaker 6: Lulu Lemon, so they know what they're doing. These leggings
- 12:03Speaker 6: are next level think butterysoft, super flattering and very comfortable,
- 12:09Speaker 6: but they're also very supportive in the right places.
- 12:13Speaker 2: So I started wearing them when the kids and I.
- 12:15Speaker 6: Go out to play, and now I'm basically living in
- 12:18Speaker 6: them twenty four seven. And here's what makes them even better.
- 12:21Speaker 6: With every payer you buy, it helps fund a mental
- 12:26Speaker 6: health counseling session for a teen in need. Isn't that
- 12:30Speaker 6: so awesome? Tona is on a mission to end teen
- 12:33Speaker 6: suicide and self harm, which we think is so important
- 12:37Speaker 6: and so incredible of them, So we partnered with Tona
- 12:40Speaker 6: to give you twenty percent off your order and free shipping.
- 12:44Speaker 6: So head to tonaactive dot com that is tnaactive dot

- 13:26Speaker 3: dot com as we're kind of sitting on top of
- 13:32Speaker 3: Paradise before we dig into the details of this season.
- 13:35Speaker 4: I'm always intrigued by you. I love Jesse.
- 13:38Speaker 3: I think Jesse has done a terrific job filling in
- 13:41Speaker 3: and taking over the franchise. I've always said publicly, and
- 13:44Speaker 3: you don't have to comment on this, that Paradise should
- 13:46Speaker 3: be Wells's show, not for any hit on Jesse. Again,
- 13:50Speaker 3: I just think you are Paradise and you have been
- 13:52Speaker 3: for so long. But even with that being said, you
- 13:58Speaker 3: play still such a crucial role in Paradise. These we
- 14:01Speaker 3: just saw it on stage during the reunion podcast. These
- 14:06Speaker 3: people trust you. You care about them, You get to
- 14:09Speaker 3: know their relationships, who they are as people. You're giving
- 14:12Speaker 3: them advice, you're making them drinks, You're around them a ton.
- 14:15Speaker 3: It isn't just it's not an easy job. And I
- 14:18Speaker 3: think that's something I always like to bring up, is
- 14:21Speaker 3: this is not just like an hour out of your
- 14:23Speaker 3: day every day for a month. This is you're a
- 14:26Speaker 3: bartender legitimately in Paradise. I want to for the listeners
- 14:30Speaker 3: when you enter into a season of Paradise knowing that
- 14:33Speaker 3: you are working for a month straight, digging into love
- 14:37Speaker 3: and also making drinks. What kind of mindset do you
- 14:39Speaker 3: bring into that just as the bartender and not kind
- 14:44Speaker 3: of the host of the show. Yeah, well, thank you
- 14:46Speaker 3: for saying that. You know, I've.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Eight seasons.
- 14:51Speaker 5: I've thought about this a lot, and like, don't get
- 14:53Speaker 5: me wrong, Yes, I wanted to host Bachelor in Paradise,
- 15:00Speaker 5: but I recognize that I can do something that Jesse
- 15:04Speaker 5: can't because I'm ingrained in the show, because I'm I'm
- 15:08Speaker 5: there the entire day, I'm experiencing more of it. The
- 15:13Speaker 5: stakes for me are higher because I'm friends with all
- 15:16Speaker 5: these people. I'm making them drinks. They're you know, they're
- 15:20Speaker 5: they're laying their heart out on the line, and it
- 15:23Speaker 5: allows me to do something that I think Jesse can't do,
- 15:28Speaker 5: which is to be what the audience is thinking, like
- 15:31Speaker 5: say what the audience is thinking, which they did a
- 15:33Speaker 5: good bit of that this year, where you know, I
- 15:37Speaker 5: think the audience never wants to feel dumb, and when
- 15:41Speaker 5: it's when it's never vocalized, it gets really frustrating for
- 15:44Speaker 5: Bachelor Nations. So having me there, yes, it's important that
- 15:48Speaker 5: I make them drinks. And I give them advice. But
- 15:50Speaker 5: I also think it's important for me, like be in
- 15:52Speaker 5: the interview chair, like Jesse would never be in the
- 15:54Speaker 5: interview chair, right, but for me to be like, this
- 15:56Speaker 5: is what's happening. This is crazy and I can't believe it,
- 15:58Speaker 5: and like I think I'm making crazy bills. Like I
- 15:59Speaker 5: think that's import for the audience because then they're like, Okay,
- 16:03Speaker 5: he's justifying like what I'm saying now, uh. And I
- 16:07Speaker 5: just don't think that a host can do that. The
- 16:10Speaker 5: host needs to be separated a little bit, you know,
- 16:13Speaker 5: And it sucks. I've seen it every season, and it
- 16:16Speaker 5: happened with Chris and it happens with Jesse. When they
- 16:19Speaker 5: come on the show, the cast knows bad things are
- 16:22Speaker 5: about to happen, right, Like it's oh no, like she's
- 16:25Speaker 5: gonna tell us something that we don't want to do.
- 16:27Speaker 2: It's but when I come on the show, it's not.
- 16:29Speaker 2: It's oh yeah, all right, we need some shots, we
- 16:31Speaker 2: need drinks, you know.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:33Speaker 2: So and it's totally two different roles.
- 16:35Speaker 5: And you know, I think you're right, Like it would
- 16:41Speaker 5: be weird to do Paradise, not not me, but someone
- 16:44Speaker 5: like me doing that thing.
- 16:45Speaker 3: It would be weird to do Paradise without you, and
- 16:48Speaker 3: you can continue your thought.
- 16:49Speaker 4: That's my thought.
- 16:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I think other people could do it, but I
- 16:54Speaker 5: think I think that you can't just do it with
- 16:56Speaker 5: a host. I think you need like someone like me
- 16:58Speaker 5: or Hannah or whatever also being there to like explain
- 17:03Speaker 5: what the hell is going on?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Now.
- 17:04Speaker 5: When I go to the show, my outset always is
- 17:10Speaker 5: because I always just want everything to be funny, like
- 17:13Speaker 5: that's like my default is like comedy. So my thing
- 17:16Speaker 5: is like, let's just do this as funny as we
- 17:20Speaker 5: humanly possible, right, Like, how can we make this as
- 17:22Speaker 5: funny as humanly possible? And so my thing is always
- 17:25Speaker 5: like to the cast, I'm like, this is a silly show.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Be silly.
- 17:28Speaker 5: It's fine. I think the problem is that we get
- 17:31Speaker 5: bogged down in the drama and the serious and you know,
- 17:34Speaker 5: it's the most dramatic season ever. But my favorite parts
- 17:37Speaker 5: of Paradise are always the funny things, right, And so
- 17:40Speaker 5: that's usually what I'm I'm going in being like, I
- 17:42Speaker 5: hope this is a fun cast. I hope that they
- 17:46Speaker 5: will lean into the comedy because it's you know, it's
- 17:48Speaker 5: supposed to open. It's a comedy it used to, especially
- 17:50Speaker 5: you know, with the silly intros and stuff, and so
- 17:54Speaker 5: that's usually my mindset going in. And I think this
- 17:56Speaker 5: cast did a good job of like embracing it, and
- 18:00Speaker 5: and I think production did a good job of making
- 18:02Speaker 5: it still funny. So yeah, that's my thought when I
- 18:04Speaker 5: come into the show.
- 18:05Speaker 4: You think the Goldens helped?
- 18:06Speaker 3: I mean, that's obviously a big changes season is we
- 18:09Speaker 3: entered Goldens into the mix. It was teased by you
- 18:12Speaker 3: and Jesse once that was announced that who knows what's
- 18:16Speaker 3: going to happen with the Goldens, and everybody's speculating, like
- 18:18Speaker 3: you know, Youngins and Golden's intermingling and having relationships that
- 18:22Speaker 3: really never happened. But the Goldens did come to the
- 18:26Speaker 3: beach this season. It was a change. What were your thoughts.
- 18:30Speaker 5: I was skeptical coming in one. I'm like, I don't know,
- 18:35Speaker 5: I'm not sure how safe it is to have a
- 18:37Speaker 5: bunch of elderly people in like three hundred degree heat
- 18:41Speaker 5: and I'm serving them my ties kill somebody. But I
- 18:46Speaker 5: gotta be honest with you, they brought so much energy.
- 18:50Speaker 5: I said it during the finale reunion show that we
- 18:52Speaker 5: just did like, thank God, they were there. They injected
- 18:55Speaker 5: that place with so much energy, and it's because they
- 18:58Speaker 5: don't give a like they've lived their life like they're
- 19:01Speaker 5: not trying to impress anyone on TV. Their parents are
- 19:04Speaker 5: gone and you know grandparents. No one's judging what they
- 19:07Speaker 5: do on the show. So it gave them this ability
- 19:10Speaker 5: to be very, very free, which I think a lot
- 19:12Speaker 5: of the cast wished they could be more like the Goldens,
- 19:15Speaker 5: you know, and I wish they could be too, because
- 19:18Speaker 5: they just came in there being like, this is the
- 19:20Speaker 5: greatest thing in the world.
- 19:21Speaker 4: I'm on vacation. Drinks are free, you know.
- 19:25Speaker 5: Like they weren't like, oh I'm gonna look bad or
- 19:27Speaker 5: like the drama. They were just having the best time.
- 19:29Speaker 5: And so they raised the vibes of that place so
- 19:33Speaker 5: many decibels that was. It was insane. And now I
- 19:36Speaker 5: can't imagine doing the show without them. I wonder if
- 19:39Speaker 5: they should get their own show. I don't hate that
- 19:42Speaker 5: we run into a problem with like logistics of like
- 19:45Speaker 5: how many things can we shoot in one year? But
- 19:49Speaker 5: I think it would be fun to do the show
- 19:51Speaker 5: and then for all the audiences. I was like, this,
- 19:53Speaker 5: we gross if like an old a Golden Dates a
- 19:56Speaker 5: young or whatever. If this whole thing is supposed to
- 19:59Speaker 5: be a microcos of the real world, this is basically
- 20:02Speaker 5: a singles retreat. I don't think that there are rules
- 20:04Speaker 5: for how old you have to be to go to
- 20:06Speaker 5: a singles retreat and it happens every day. Of course,
- 20:09Speaker 5: it wasn't going to happen on TV, but like we
- 20:13Speaker 5: had to tease it that way, right, like we're out
- 20:16Speaker 5: here making a TV show.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Uh yeah, I have a thought it could be completely
- 20:23Speaker 3: irrelevant and not true. One of the other things I
- 20:26Speaker 3: liked about the Goldens being there was when the money
- 20:28Speaker 3: was announced. In my mind, I'm thinking most of these
- 20:31Speaker 3: people at this point are retired, and they're retired for
- 20:34Speaker 3: a reason because they've you know, secured their egg. I
- 20:38Speaker 3: don't know if five hundred thousand as good as that
- 20:41Speaker 3: would be to be handed five hundred thousand dollars at
- 20:43Speaker 3: seventy five years old, I don't know if that's that
- 20:46Speaker 3: intriguing to them. They've kind of already kind of counted
- 20:49Speaker 3: what they're going to spend for the rest of their life,
- 20:51Speaker 3: so it did take that out of it too. In
- 20:53Speaker 3: my mind, Like, I don't know if Keith is up there, like, goodness, gracious,
- 20:56Speaker 3: I need that five hundred thousand, and he knows what
- 20:57Speaker 3: his situation is in Yeah, but I'm expecting that he's
- 21:01Speaker 3: he's not really counting on it.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:05Speaker 5: They also worked in a romantic relationship Keith and Cathy, So,
- 21:11Speaker 5: you know, I think I wonder what would would have
- 21:13Speaker 5: happened if there was a really really strong connection with
- 21:16Speaker 5: Golden's at the end, Because if the barometer was like
- 21:21Speaker 5: who's really here for love and who isn't, which is
- 21:23Speaker 5: kind of what everyone was kind of getting at, then
- 21:26Speaker 5: you couldn't say that they don't deserve it just because
- 21:29Speaker 5: they're retired and they have a nest egg and they've
- 21:31Speaker 5: you know, got Medicare and Medicaid and everything. They've also
- 21:35Speaker 5: got kids too that probably, you know, could use a
- 21:38Speaker 5: couple extra dollars.
- 21:39Speaker 4: I don't know. I think you could make the argument.
- 21:41Speaker 5: I think it'd also be cool if you get all
- 21:43Speaker 5: the way to the end and then you don't take it,
- 21:44Speaker 5: or you give it to another company. There's a million
- 21:47Speaker 5: ways that it could be a cool ending. So I
- 21:50Speaker 5: don't know, we'll see, we'll see what happens. I think
- 21:52Speaker 5: it would be cool. The problem that we ran into
- 21:56Speaker 5: is there isn't enough pool of Golden yet to really
- 22:02Speaker 5: get a lot of people there for it to work.
- 22:04Speaker 5: A lot of people were like, why are they coming
- 22:05Speaker 5: in later? Wise the lesson there's just not a lot
- 22:08Speaker 5: of them the show. That show's only going on for
- 22:10Speaker 5: a couple of seasons. I think as that show continues
- 22:13Speaker 5: to grow and that part of Bachelor Nation grows, then
- 22:17Speaker 5: it'll be much easier for us to pair people up
- 22:20Speaker 5: and for there to be like really good lasting relationships there.
- 22:24Speaker 3: I think Nancy would come back to the show for
- 22:25Speaker 3: the next ten years if she was asked, yes, she
- 22:27Speaker 3: would love to be in Paradise.
- 22:29Speaker 6: Sude.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Nancy was awesome.
- 22:30Speaker 5: I know, you guys are both from Warsaw so, like
- 22:32Speaker 5: we talked a lot about Indiana. Kathy also, Kathy's great,
- 22:37Speaker 5: Like she needed you need a good narrator every season,
- 22:41Speaker 5: and she's fantastic. You know, Faith was fantastic, Leslie is
- 22:47Speaker 5: super sweet. And then all the guys like, I mean,
- 22:50Speaker 5: I've said it. I said it the open of the
- 22:53Speaker 5: of the finale reunion show. I think Keith should be
- 22:57Speaker 5: the Golden Batch. I mean, and it's like I love
- 23:01Speaker 5: that guy. I love being around him and the other
- 23:03Speaker 5: thing I was saying I was saying it to a producer.
- 23:05Speaker 5: I was like, if my mom met him, yeah, I'd
- 23:09Speaker 5: be so pumped.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Yeah, he's just like he is that guy.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Yeah, like the most lovely dude in the world. And like,
- 23:17Speaker 5: as kids, all you want is for like your parents
- 23:19Speaker 5: to find someone that's like awesome and fun pun to
- 23:22Speaker 5: be around. So anyways, that's my pitch for Keith. I
- 23:24Speaker 5: think that he would be the best Golden Bachelor in
- 23:27Speaker 5: the world.
- 23:27Speaker 3: It's actually kind of shocking he isn't the Golden Bachelor
- 23:30Speaker 3: coming up.
- 23:31Speaker 4: I think it's going to be talked about.
- 23:33Speaker 3: I think actually we're going to see people as this
- 23:36Speaker 3: next season airs and Keith kind of has his moment,
- 23:39Speaker 3: especially with who he was even during this reunion show
- 23:42Speaker 3: with you, and they're gonna.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Go, that's that's my guy.
- 23:45Speaker 5: Well, to be fair, though, it was an impossibility they
- 23:48Speaker 5: had to cast that show before we even did Paradise,
- 23:50Speaker 5: so like you can't say, like sure, but it still.
- 23:54Speaker 4: Was a wish that I think all of us. I
- 23:56Speaker 4: do too. But also, there's always next season. There's always
- 23:58Speaker 4: next season.
- 24:06Speaker 3: With Pinkberry, it is love at first swirl big thanks
- 24:11Speaker 3: to Pinkberry, who has been serving up some delicious frozen
- 24:16Speaker 3: yogurt treats today where every flavor, whether it's original Tart, pomegranate,
- 24:23Speaker 3: or their new white mocha is truly is a front runner,
- 24:29Speaker 3: and the only drama is choosing between your favorite premium toppings,
- 24:33Speaker 3: whether you're here for love or let's be real, just
- 24:37Speaker 3: the froyo. Pinkberry's got your happily ever after. Find a
- 24:42Speaker 3: location near you, or order online at pinkberry dot com.
- 24:50Speaker 3: A couple of the situation that happened that you did
- 24:53Speaker 3: speak truth into. We'll start with the Jeremy Brian Parisa
- 25:01Speaker 3: Bailey situation. You have a moment where you come on
- 25:05Speaker 3: and you say, I feel like I've been taking crazy
- 25:07Speaker 3: pills because everybody's mad at Brian, and I'm seeing this.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Situation as.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Not that clear, Like I think maybe Jeremy could have
- 25:19Speaker 3: been more in the wrong than what people are leading on.
- 25:22Speaker 3: How did you get that read? How close were you
- 25:24Speaker 3: to the situation? And then how do you formulate your
- 25:27Speaker 3: thoughts without being like ingrained in because it felt like
- 25:29Speaker 3: the whole cast was on one side and you are
- 25:32Speaker 3: the person speaking into the viewership being like if you're
- 25:35Speaker 3: thinking this way, You're not wrong.
- 25:37Speaker 5: A lot of people that moment like resonated with a
- 25:40Speaker 5: lot of Bache Nation fans and for the most part
- 25:45Speaker 5: overwhelmingly agreed with what I had to say. And one
- 25:49Speaker 5: of the big like kind of hits on me was like,
- 25:52Speaker 5: why didn't you tell the cast this is how you felt?
- 25:55Speaker 5: And if for being fair I did, I told, And
- 25:57Speaker 5: I won't name cast names, but I I was like,
- 26:00Speaker 5: this is gonna look so bad, it's gonna look really
- 26:03Speaker 5: messed up. And if I'm hearing about this, I can't
- 26:08Speaker 5: say anything because that would be I would be overstepping
- 26:11Speaker 5: my bounds. But like, if I've heard about this, that
- 26:13Speaker 5: means everyone knows about it except for the one person
- 26:15Speaker 5: that it's about. Like, that's messed up. You need to
- 26:17Speaker 5: do something. You're gonna look like the girls like not
- 26:20Speaker 5: girls girls, And for the guys, you're gonna look like
- 26:22Speaker 5: guys who are defending someone who did.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Something kind of shady. Yeah.
- 26:27Speaker 2: So yeah, I stand by what I said.
- 26:29Speaker 5: And for me, like at the end of the day,
- 26:32Speaker 5: like I'm just out there trying to call balls and strikes, right,
- 26:35Speaker 5: and like that was.
- 26:36Speaker 4: A huge, huge ball.
- 26:39Speaker 5: Yeah, and listen, I like Jeremy a lot. I can't
- 26:45Speaker 5: believe that that man thought it was a good idea
- 26:48Speaker 5: in an interview on camera to call her like, that's
- 26:52Speaker 5: wild to me. But listen, it was early the girl
- 26:57Speaker 5: he was dating on a date with, not someone else, Like,
- 26:59Speaker 5: there's a lot of things that like, there's context to it,
- 27:01Speaker 5: but that was a wild situation.
- 27:04Speaker 3: It was wells again, you made Paradise better this year.
- 27:08Speaker 3: You always have you and I can and I believe
- 27:11Speaker 3: that you always will.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Again.
- 27:13Speaker 3: No hit on Jesse, I just I don't want to
- 27:15Speaker 3: watch Paradise without you being there. I think you bring
- 27:18Speaker 3: so much depth and comedy and humor and wisdom to
- 27:23Speaker 3: the show, switching gears completely here in the last couple
- 27:26Speaker 3: of minutes I have with you, obviously we did just
- 27:29Speaker 3: get done. You just finished the reunion episode that will
- 27:32Speaker 3: be airing on Bachelor Happy Hour, a friendly podcast to
- 27:36Speaker 3: us here at the Almost Famous Podcast. You did a
- 27:38Speaker 3: great job, so tune in to get all the drama.
- 27:40Speaker 3: We're gonna be breaking down kind of getting into more
- 27:44Speaker 3: details with each couple here at the Almost Famous Podcast
- 27:47Speaker 3: in just a few minutes. But I wanted to grab
- 27:49Speaker 3: you to talk about a few things that you have
- 27:51Speaker 3: going on. You have a new podcast, in addition to
- 27:56Speaker 3: the Vanity Index podcast, which I'm a subscriber and listener
- 27:59Speaker 3: to thank you, You have a new podcast with iHeart
- 28:02Speaker 3: called by Order of the Faithfuls. Yep, so rewatch and
- 28:06Speaker 3: break down podcasts of the Traders. You were on the
- 28:09Speaker 3: Traders for not as long as we wanted to see
- 28:12Speaker 3: you on the Traders, but you got a podcast out
- 28:15Speaker 3: of this, so goodness, gracious, you're winning wells tell us
- 28:17Speaker 3: about it.
- 28:19Speaker 5: Yeah, So basically we're watching the first couple seasons. It's
- 28:23Speaker 5: myself and Dolores, who was the winner of season three
- 28:27Speaker 5: of Traders, and Tamra who was on season two of Traders.
- 28:33Speaker 5: So it's two housewives and then this idiot and it's
- 28:37Speaker 5: us watching the first three seasons of Traders back with
- 28:42Speaker 5: the audience breaking it down, having people who are on
- 28:44Speaker 5: the show on the show talking about.
- 28:48Speaker 2: You know, everyone's.
- 28:52Speaker 5: How they're going about doing the show and whether or
- 28:54Speaker 5: not they're doing a good job as being a Faithful
- 28:57Speaker 5: or a Trader and all that kind of stuff, and
- 28:58Speaker 5: then you know, obviously a vent truly. I think early
- 29:02Speaker 5: next year season four will be airing, and then we'll
- 29:05Speaker 5: be watching it in real time with the audience, having
- 29:08Speaker 5: cast members on the show and continuing that. So, yeah,
- 29:12Speaker 5: if you're a fan of The Traders, which it seems
- 29:14Speaker 5: like the entire world is, it's a huge show on
- 29:18Speaker 5: Peacock and NBC, that you should listen.
- 29:21Speaker 4: To that show.
- 29:23Speaker 3: It's obviously a massive show. And I just wish you
- 29:27Speaker 3: would have been there longer because I was watching it
- 29:30Speaker 3: for I was prepared to watch it for a full season.
- 29:32Speaker 3: I watched it for I think one episode. Another thing
- 29:35Speaker 3: you have going on is it was just announced that
- 29:39Speaker 3: The Bachelor is hosting a crazy cool event that you're
- 29:42Speaker 3: going to be hosting or co hosting. It's called the
- 29:46Speaker 3: Bachelor Nation Vacation. At C it was announcing the finale.
- 29:51Speaker 3: There's going to be some great Bacheloration alum there, Why
- 29:55Speaker 3: would a listener to the podcast, a fan of Bacheloration
- 29:57Speaker 3: want to.
- 29:58Speaker 4: Come on this ship? What are you going to be
- 29:59Speaker 4: do doing there? Tell us more?
- 30:01Speaker 5: Well, I just gotta say I'm impressed that ABC or
- 30:05Speaker 5: Warner or whoever's putting this on was able to get
- 30:08Speaker 5: all these names, because like the fact that Jesse's come
- 30:12Speaker 5: on a cruise ship is blowing my mind. So I mean,
- 30:15Speaker 5: it's all the big thing.
- 30:16Speaker 2: He is a week freeze. I know that man needs
- 30:19Speaker 2: to chill out.
- 30:20Speaker 5: Yeah, No, I love Jesse so much, so yeah, you know,
- 30:25Speaker 5: Jesse's going to be there. I'm going to be there,
- 30:27Speaker 5: Hannah's going to be there, and then like Tyler Cameron
- 30:31Speaker 5: and like a lot Joey and Kelsey and Kelsey and yeah,
- 30:36Speaker 5: like it's amazing how many people they've got to come
- 30:39Speaker 5: on this boat. And then I think more names are
- 30:42Speaker 5: going to be released later. So if you're a fan
- 30:45Speaker 5: of veter Nation, like this is gonna be your opportunity
- 30:47Speaker 5: to like literally be stuck on a boat with all
- 30:50Speaker 5: these people.
- 30:50Speaker 4: So you're gonna get sick.
- 30:53Speaker 5: Yeah, So I assume my job is they're going to
- 30:57Speaker 5: make me bartend one night. I don't know, but I'll
- 31:01Speaker 5: sling some drinks on a cruise of Alito deck and
- 31:04Speaker 5: hang out with all the bachel Nation stands.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Again, It's Bachelor Nation vacation.
- 31:09Speaker 3: At c dot com, we have a podcast out with
- 31:12Speaker 3: a representative from the cruise ship talking about all the details,
- 31:16Speaker 3: all the fun activities, all the things going to be
- 31:18Speaker 3: going on that you can listen on the almost famous
- 31:20Speaker 3: thread too well as in closing. It's been a big week,
- 31:25Speaker 3: a week and a half for you. That's almost famous podcasts.
- 31:28Speaker 3: You want to say congratulations not only to another successful
- 31:30Speaker 3: season of Paradise. You crushed it and it's just such
- 31:34Speaker 3: a pleasure to be a fan of you and watch that,
- 31:37Speaker 3: but also congratulations to you and Sarah on three years together.
- 31:42Speaker 3: You celebrated your three year anniversary. I'll give you the mic.
- 31:46Speaker 3: We just had two very successful couples come out of Paradise,
- 31:49Speaker 3: Spencer and Jess and Alex and Andrew. Any advice for
- 31:55Speaker 3: them after being married for three years?
- 31:57Speaker 5: Oh, Elope, I loved your wedding. I know my accountant
- 32:04Speaker 5: didn't love that. Yeah, go to France with ten of
- 32:08Speaker 5: your best friends. Save all that money you're going to
- 32:10Speaker 5: use for the wedding and put it towards the house.
- 32:14Speaker 5: My father in law gave me the best piece of advice,
- 32:16Speaker 5: and all you need for a successful marriage is to
- 32:19Speaker 5: remember two words, and that's yes, dear, so yes, dear.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:29Speaker 5: And I will say that a little behind the scenes.
- 32:32Speaker 5: I'm not there at the end of Paradise and the
- 32:36Speaker 5: reason why I'm not well, I am, but here's the
- 32:39Speaker 5: behind the scenes. I had to leave early because I
- 32:41Speaker 5: went on a golf trip with Ben Higgins and I
- 32:44Speaker 5: really hard to tell production, Hey, I gotta leave early
- 32:46Speaker 5: go play golf. So I left a day early, so
- 32:50Speaker 5: I wasn't there for like the end of the show.
- 32:53Speaker 4: But I'm appreciative of that.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, And I was nervous that I was I
- 32:58Speaker 5: get paid episodically, and I was nervous I wasn't even
- 33:00Speaker 5: get paid for that episode.
- 33:02Speaker 4: But it was worth it.
- 33:03Speaker 5: But then lo and behold, I'm watching the last episode
- 33:05Speaker 5: and if you watch, the cast is at the bar,
- 33:08Speaker 5: and then it'll show like clips of me. I am
- 33:11Speaker 5: not there, but they wanted to make it seem like
- 33:14Speaker 5: I was there, you know. So then all of a
- 33:16Speaker 5: sudden you'll see like a background shot and it's like
- 33:18Speaker 5: the other guy who's like been barred to I felt.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Guilty about this for about four months that I but
- 33:23Speaker 3: we're good.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Were totally good. I want I'm in this show on
- 33:27Speaker 2: the front end.
- 33:28Speaker 5: But at the end I think they were like, it'd
- 33:29Speaker 5: be weird if Welles isn't there anymore for like this
- 33:31Speaker 5: last thing. So like they just had shots with me,
- 33:33Speaker 5: like cleaning a glass.
- 33:36Speaker 4: There we go. We made it. Yeah, Wells was nice
