- 0:05Speaker 1: Here we go, let's hit the inside scoop.
- 0:07Speaker 2: It is presented by Liz We've got to f t
- 0:09Speaker 2: senior insider Ken Rosenthal with us.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Ken. I'm gonna push forward first and we'll look.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Back for a moment, just because I think this is
- 0:15Speaker 2: the biggest storyline over the next few days. Bobaschett postgame
- 0:19Speaker 2: telling multiple people as he was being interviewed in that
- 0:22Speaker 2: wild club scene.
- 0:23Speaker 1: He's ready to go. Do you think he's really ready
- 0:26Speaker 1: to go? And do we have any idea what that
- 0:27Speaker 1: would look like for them?
- 0:30Speaker 3: I do believe he's ready to go. He actually told
- 0:32Speaker 3: me the same thing the night before. He said, I
- 0:34Speaker 3: will make myself available and I said to him, well,
- 0:37Speaker 3: will the team deem you available? And he said, I
- 0:40Speaker 3: assume that will be the case. So what is ahead
- 0:44Speaker 3: here is very interesting because if Bishek comes back, I
- 0:47Speaker 3: doubt it will be a shortstop. It's just too much.
- 0:50Speaker 3: And at that point, what do you do, Well, he's
- 0:53Speaker 3: probably the DH. If he's the DH, George Springer has
- 0:56Speaker 3: to go back into the field and you lose. Addison Barger,
- 1:00Speaker 3: Lucas and Barjar in particular has been kind of a
- 1:03Speaker 3: revelation out there, so I don't know how this is
- 1:06Speaker 3: going to play out. The other question I have, and
- 1:08Speaker 3: I'm kind of curious what AJ and Todd think, is,
- 1:11Speaker 3: here's a guy who has not been a part of
- 1:13Speaker 3: it since September sixth, through no fault of his own.
- 1:15Speaker 3: He's been hurt, but you've got something special going here,
- 1:19Speaker 3: and as important as he is to the team, does
- 1:22Speaker 3: it disrupt things a little bit if he comes back,
- 1:25Speaker 3: particularly if he struggles initially, which would not be a
- 1:30Speaker 3: great shock since he hasn't played in a month and
- 1:32Speaker 3: a half.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Ken I said this last night on the postgame show,
- 1:36Speaker 4: And I don't know what they're gonna do because I
- 1:38Speaker 4: don't know where he plays. You can't DHM because Springer's knee,
- 1:40Speaker 4: and Springer is not a great outfielder at this point
- 1:42Speaker 4: in his life anyways. And their defense in the outfit
- 1:44Speaker 4: has been really good with the way they have it
- 1:46Speaker 4: set up. And then Jimenez has been awesome at short
- 1:48Speaker 4: and I know they're going to say, oh, I'll take
- 1:50Speaker 4: ikf out and just move by shift to short. He
- 1:52Speaker 4: hasn't played shortstop, you know, in a month and a half.
- 1:54Speaker 4: He hasn't hit in a month and a half. He
- 1:57Speaker 4: can't move well enough to play shortstop, so do you.
- 2:00Speaker 4: And there was an old saying in baseball you don't
- 2:01Speaker 4: make two positions less by worse by putting one guy
- 2:04Speaker 4: in there, right, And that's what it seems like it
- 2:06Speaker 4: would happen. I know Bobashitt is great. I love Boba shit.
- 2:10Speaker 4: I think he's one of the great player. But I
- 2:12Speaker 4: just don't know how they do this without affecting everyone.
- 2:15Speaker 4: I mean, if you want to use him as a
- 2:16Speaker 4: pinch hit, fine, but God forbids, something goes wrong and
- 2:19Speaker 4: then they got to throw him out there on the field.
- 2:21Speaker 4: It's like, oh, man, or do you just say, look, Bo,
- 2:24Speaker 4: we're sorry you got hurt. We really do apologize, but
- 2:26Speaker 4: we've got to go with what got us here.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Well, it's a great question, particularly because aj he is
- 2:32Speaker 3: a free agent to be and he's not going to
- 2:35Speaker 3: be part of their future. It's almost unquestionable that Andres
- 2:39Speaker 3: Jimenez will be their shortstop from here on forward. I
- 2:42Speaker 3: think that was part of the reason they acquired him
- 2:44Speaker 3: in the first place, to protect themselves if Bishett did
- 2:47Speaker 3: not sign. And I don't know that they ever expected
- 2:49Speaker 3: to sign him, and I don't know that many teams
- 2:51Speaker 3: are going to look at Bo the same way as
- 2:53Speaker 3: a shortstop. His defensive metrics are not good. He's been
- 2:57Speaker 3: one of the worst shortstops in the league according to
- 2:59Speaker 3: those ratings. So if this is it for him, and
- 3:03Speaker 3: if you feel your team is better set this way
- 3:06Speaker 3: going into the World Series, man, I don't know how
- 3:10Speaker 3: you put him on. And it's going to be a
- 3:12Speaker 3: really interesting question. He's Bobashet, as you said, great hitter,
- 3:17Speaker 3: a huge part of what they have done in all
- 3:19Speaker 3: of these years, him and Vladdy, Vladdie and him. But
- 3:23Speaker 3: it's just a tricky spot that they're in with him
- 3:25Speaker 3: right now.
- 3:27Speaker 5: So my opinion, I feel like this guy is needed
- 3:31Speaker 5: for this team, excuse me, in the World Series. I
- 3:34Speaker 5: think this Dodger team is that good. I think they
- 3:38Speaker 5: need all the best bets they need. I think it's
- 3:41Speaker 5: a guy that could come in. Do I think he
- 3:43Speaker 5: has what it takes to be ready right away? I
- 3:45Speaker 5: think they're gonna have to take a chance. I just
- 3:48Speaker 5: want your humble opinion about this kind of player. Do
- 3:53Speaker 5: you think he's needed in the World Series for them
- 3:55Speaker 5: to win a championship or do you think they could
- 3:57Speaker 5: do it do.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Without Todd That's a great point, and that really is
- 4:01Speaker 3: the other side of this, that you're facing a team
- 4:04Speaker 3: that is going to be favored to beat you. You
- 4:07Speaker 3: are facing some of the best starting pitching we've seen
- 4:09Speaker 3: in the post seasons since I don't know, maybe AJ's
- 4:12Speaker 3: two thousand and five White Sox team. Honestly so, given
- 4:16Speaker 3: that and given who he is as a hitter, that's
- 4:20Speaker 3: the case for putting him on taking your best shot
- 4:22Speaker 3: as a team. It's just that all these other things
- 4:25Speaker 3: that we just talked about, they're factors too, and they complicated,
- 4:30Speaker 3: so I don't know what they're going to do. I
- 4:32Speaker 3: don't know what the right solution is for them. It's,
- 4:34Speaker 3: as I said, very tricky and a good problem to
- 4:38Speaker 3: have in a way, but it's also something that is
- 4:41Speaker 3: really delicate.
- 4:43Speaker 5: I want to talk a little bit about the bottom
- 4:45Speaker 5: of the lineup for Toronto. I felt like coming into
- 4:48Speaker 5: the playoffs that was kind of like hit or miss
- 4:51Speaker 5: really of what they're really about. I thought, if the
- 4:53Speaker 5: bottom of the lineup could come through, good things will happen.
- 4:57Speaker 5: What a big inning they had yesterday, big walk and
- 5:00Speaker 5: then ikf with the single to kind of kickstart everything.
- 5:03Speaker 5: Talk a little bit about what you saw there and
- 5:05Speaker 5: how that's gonna bode well for them going into the
- 5:07Speaker 5: World Series.
- 5:09Speaker 3: That was a huge difference in this series. The Blue
- 5:11Speaker 3: Jays bottom of the lineup was so much better than
- 5:13Speaker 3: the Astros bottom of the lineup. It was not even close.
- 5:17Speaker 3: And we saw Jimenez hit two big two home, two
- 5:19Speaker 3: run homers in this series. He dropped the bunt last
- 5:22Speaker 3: night and it was a huge key for them and
- 5:26Speaker 3: Jimenez the guy who has not been a good offensive
- 5:28Speaker 3: player for a while now, and he had some injuries
- 5:32Speaker 3: this year that kind of prevented him from maybe taking
- 5:34Speaker 3: the step forward that he wanted to, but he emerged
- 5:37Speaker 3: in this series again as something of a threat. Their
- 5:40Speaker 3: bottom of the order has been, no question, a huge
- 5:44Speaker 3: pack factor for them. Barger coming on later in this series,
- 5:48Speaker 3: all of these things that have happened, IKF. With the
- 5:51Speaker 3: big hit last night, they are one to nine pretty good.
- 5:55Speaker 3: They are one to nine certainly a team that puts
- 5:57Speaker 3: the ball in play better than What's interesting to me
- 6:01Speaker 3: about the World Series coming up is this the Brewers
- 6:05Speaker 3: same kind of offense, really chaotic, put pressure on the
- 6:09Speaker 3: other team, etc. Doesn't strike out much as an offense
- 6:14Speaker 3: and yet the Dodgers just absolutely smothered them. Can they
- 6:18Speaker 3: do to the same thing to the Blue Jays? I
- 6:20Speaker 3: don't know, And it's interesting that they're going to start
- 6:23Speaker 3: this series here in Toronto where I am still and
- 6:27Speaker 3: go from there and just kind of have that home
- 6:30Speaker 3: field advantage. I don't know that the Blue Jays can
- 6:33Speaker 3: beat the Dodgers. Can they give them a series that
- 6:36Speaker 3: I think is possible? But a lot's going to have
- 6:39Speaker 3: to go right too.

- 7:52Speaker 4: Ken, I got to ask because I had before we
- 7:54Speaker 4: get to the Mariner's side of this, which you know
- 7:57Speaker 4: to the victory goes the spoils. Do you have your
- 7:59Speaker 4: may because Scott had his maya culpa for the Mariners
- 8:02Speaker 4: ready if they would have made it, because he brants
- 8:05Speaker 4: on him all the time. So we know your history
- 8:07Speaker 4: with the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays played an incredible series.
- 8:10Speaker 4: They deserve a ton of credit. So do you have
- 8:12Speaker 4: I'm sorry, Blue Jays fans ready for us, because Scott
- 8:15Speaker 4: was ready with his I'm sorry Mariners fanstead he got
- 8:18Speaker 4: to pile on again.
- 8:18Speaker 1: I'm going to jump in after whatever Ken says, but
- 8:20Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Most of all, aj if you ever read me, which
- 8:25Speaker 3: you don't, you would know I've already written this, and
- 8:28Speaker 3: you would also know in fairness to me for a change,
- 8:32Speaker 3: Oh for me, they've written about the Blue Jays last year,
- 8:35Speaker 3: the year before, they were not a team that played
- 8:38Speaker 3: to its potential. The things I've written about their front
- 8:40Speaker 3: office were things a lot of their fans were saying too.
- 8:43Speaker 3: But hey, certainly they deserve all the credit for this season,
- 8:47Speaker 3: and it's been one of those seasons executives like to
- 8:50Speaker 3: talk like this, where they got ninety nine percentile outcomes
- 8:54Speaker 3: in almost every area, not every area, because even some
- 8:58Speaker 3: of their additions didn't really work out that well. Schuzer
- 9:01Speaker 3: was hurt all the time, him Menez was heard all
- 9:03Speaker 3: the time, sometime Dare was hurt all the time. But
- 9:05Speaker 3: they fortified at the deadline, and they just had this
- 9:08Speaker 3: kind of magical run. A manager who evolved from the
- 9:13Speaker 3: guy who took out Jose Barrias a couple of years
- 9:15Speaker 3: ago and seem to have a great grasp of this team.
- 9:19Speaker 3: They've got great veteran leadership in that room, they have
- 9:22Speaker 3: younger players contributing. It's kind of a perfect mix. A
- 9:25Speaker 3: team you really like to see play, like to watch,
- 9:28Speaker 3: and all the credit to them. Absolutely, they deserve it.
- 9:32Speaker 3: And I wrote that at the start of the postseason, AJ,
- 9:34Speaker 3: You're late.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Wait was that that was a weird way to apologize? Ken?
- 9:39Speaker 3: Like?
- 9:39Speaker 4: That wasn't really And I'm sorry apologizing.
- 9:42Speaker 3: There's nothing to apologize for it.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah, wait, bring me in, Bring me in because I
- 9:46Speaker 2: want to. I want to add to this Ken because
- 9:48Speaker 2: I think it's important, not just for Age because he
- 9:50Speaker 2: jokes about it, but for fans. If you want us
- 9:53Speaker 2: to talk about our opinions right and commentate on the
- 9:56Speaker 2: sport and not just be robots, then you can't hold
- 9:58Speaker 2: what we say a year two years ago to a
- 10:01Speaker 2: different team. You didn't say the Jays are paper Tigers forever.
- 10:06Speaker 2: They will always be paper tigers. You talked about a
- 10:08Speaker 2: specific team that was not good. This year's team is good,
- 10:13Speaker 2: and it's not like you've been smashing them all this year,
- 10:15Speaker 2: which some people have done.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Some people will.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Say, oh, this Jay Smiler was getting fired in like April, remember,
- 10:21Speaker 4: and now here he is going to the World Series.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Was their front office?
- 10:24Speaker 3: Hey, there are a lot of people who thought this
- 10:25Speaker 3: was going to be the end of the run for
- 10:27Speaker 3: this group, and then they signed Laddie and that actually,
- 10:30Speaker 3: as I wrote, I believe yesterday made a big difference.
- 10:33Speaker 3: It kind of freed up the team. As John Schneider
- 10:35Speaker 3: said at one point on Jason Stark's podcast, it ended
- 10:40Speaker 3: any possibility of Ladd leaving as a free agent. Assure
- 10:43Speaker 3: the players at the team and management was intending on
- 10:47Speaker 3: winning and winning not just short term but long term.
- 10:50Speaker 3: And it kind of changed the whole dynamic of the club.
- 10:53Speaker 3: That was a big thing for them. And now when
- 10:56Speaker 3: you look at Ladd Junior playing the way he's playing
- 10:59Speaker 3: of course ALC MVP, you see maybe why he was
- 11:02Speaker 3: worth the money. And that's what I wrote about yesterday
- 11:04Speaker 3: as well. Aj, you can go back and read that
- 11:06Speaker 3: one too.
- 11:07Speaker 4: What's reading? What's reading? Ken?
- 11:09Speaker 7: What's y?
- 11:11Speaker 1: He does too much talking to read?
- 11:12Speaker 2: But Ken, let me continue on because this plays into
- 11:15Speaker 2: the Mariner's portion, and I have a question for you
- 11:17Speaker 2: about them. But what AJ was referring to is how
- 11:20Speaker 2: I loved, like many others, the Mariners pitching staff for
- 11:23Speaker 2: the past few years and felt like this was the
- 11:25Speaker 2: first time that they actually supported the other side. Shocker,
- 11:27Speaker 2: the offense was significantly batter blah blah blah, and here
- 11:30Speaker 2: they get to this point. I was pissed the prior
- 11:32Speaker 2: two years that I felt like they had this and
- 11:35Speaker 2: they were not supporting the lineup side. That seemed to
- 11:39Speaker 2: play out exactly that way, and if anything, the starting
- 11:42Speaker 2: staff had some more injuries this year in an effectiveness
- 11:44Speaker 2: we saw it in this series two. So my question
- 11:46Speaker 2: for you, though, is what happened with Dan Wilson. You
- 11:50Speaker 2: spoke to him after the game. He kept using that
- 11:52Speaker 2: pivot term to you and to everyone else, and I
- 11:56Speaker 2: get it, but I don't get it because it's October twentieth,
- 11:59Speaker 2: not June twentieth.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't like the call either to go to
- 12:03Speaker 3: Bizardo and not Muno's there. I don't really know that
- 12:07Speaker 3: there's a good explanation for it. You've got to stop
- 12:10Speaker 3: the game right there, and then you worry about the
- 12:12Speaker 3: ninth inning later or the eighth inning, and the ninth inning.
- 12:14Speaker 3: At that point, they hadn't used Munos much at all
- 12:17Speaker 3: in this series and you end up losing the series
- 12:21Speaker 3: essentially without him, So he's gonna get criticized for that.
- 12:25Speaker 3: He should get criticized for that. I didn't agree with it,
- 12:29Speaker 3: and I didn't really even buy his explanation. Usually when
- 12:33Speaker 3: managers explain their moves, I say, Okay, I at least
- 12:36Speaker 3: see where he's coming from. It's a little tougher with
- 12:38Speaker 3: this one. Dan Wilson a heck of a nice guy,
- 12:41Speaker 3: and you hate to see any manager, any team in
- 12:47Speaker 3: the pain that that team was in after the game.
- 12:49Speaker 3: It was rough to see cal Riley was in tears.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Cal Riley was in tears.
- 12:53Speaker 4: And.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Given the forty nine years and everything surrounding them, it
- 12:59Speaker 3: just was so just appointing for them and any fan
- 13:02Speaker 3: out there. Obviously some fans probably hate the Mariners, but
- 13:06Speaker 3: any fan out there can't sympathize with what that team
- 13:08Speaker 3: was going through in that moment doesn't have a heart. Now,
- 13:12Speaker 3: I will tell you this what I was going to
- 13:14Speaker 3: write if they won the game, depending on circumstances, but
- 13:18Speaker 3: this was the way I was leaning. Was kind of
- 13:21Speaker 3: going back to cal Rawley's comments two years ago at
- 13:25Speaker 3: the end of the season when they were eliminated by Texas.
- 13:28Speaker 3: And remember what he said then. He basically called out
- 13:31Speaker 3: management for not showing enough commitment. And that same offseason
- 13:35Speaker 3: was the off season in which President of Baseball Operations
- 13:38Speaker 3: Jerry Depoto said, Hey, you win fifty four percent of
- 13:41Speaker 3: your games over a ten year period, you're going to
- 13:43Speaker 3: get your shot once in a while. Fans should be
- 13:45Speaker 3: thankful that we're being patient like this. And of course
- 13:48Speaker 3: it didn't come off well.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I knew what he.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Meant, and actually what he meant kind of came to
- 13:53Speaker 3: fruition here. They won I don't know, fifty five to
- 13:55Speaker 3: fifty six percent of their games this year and almost
- 13:58Speaker 3: made it to the World Series.
- 13:59Speaker 4: But this team has come a long way.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Their moves at the deadline for Naylor and Suarez were
- 14:05Speaker 3: moves that they might not have made before. So they
- 14:08Speaker 3: had a great season. They won their first division titles
- 14:11Speaker 3: in two thousand and one. They beat the Tigers in
- 14:13Speaker 3: that epic Division series. They extended this series to seven games.
- 14:18Speaker 3: They had a to nothing lead. We all know that
- 14:20Speaker 3: they had an opportunity last.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Night with a lead. We all know that.
- 14:23Speaker 3: But if I'm a Mariners fan, of course I'm crushed
- 14:27Speaker 3: at the same time as a fan, my opinion is
- 14:32Speaker 3: all you can ever ask for is a competitive season
- 14:35Speaker 3: in which your team's kind of in it all the
- 14:36Speaker 3: way they got that. Now, of course they want more.
- 14:39Speaker 3: We all understand that, and eventually you would expect they're
- 14:43Speaker 3: gonna get more. They're gonna get that World Series finally.
- 14:46Speaker 3: But this was a tough way to lose, no question.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Hey, the cub said that for one hundred and some years, ken,
- 14:52Speaker 4: so they can you know they're gonna get that World
- 14:53Speaker 4: Series eventually. I mean, they're only forty seven in. They
- 14:56Speaker 4: got what how many every years they're in, They only
- 15:01Speaker 4: got like fifty something more to go to get to
- 15:03Speaker 4: the Cubs. So go Cubbies. But no, the thing is
- 15:06Speaker 4: is they want you know, Jerry Depoto had the famous
- 15:08Speaker 4: quote fifty four percent, and cal Rawley came out and said, oh,
- 15:11Speaker 4: I didn't really mean what I said. It was taken
- 15:13Speaker 4: out of context, but he was exactly right with what
- 15:16Speaker 4: he said. They finally did it. Will we see more?
- 15:19Speaker 4: What I want to know for the Mariner fans out there,
- 15:21Speaker 4: will we see more of this from their ownership or
- 15:23Speaker 4: are they gonna say, oh, we almost won. It didn't
- 15:25Speaker 4: work We're gonna have to cut payroll because Naylor's a
- 15:27Speaker 4: free agent. Suarez is a free agent. Right, some of
- 15:30Speaker 4: these pitchers are starting to get to where there are
- 15:32Speaker 4: eligible and they're gonna have to get paid a lot
- 15:34Speaker 4: more money. Yes, they signed cal Rawly, Yes they signed Julio,
- 15:37Speaker 4: But what are they gonna do? Are they gonna stick
- 15:39Speaker 4: with this trend or are they gonna go back to
- 15:41Speaker 4: the old Mariners like, oh, well, we'll just try to
- 15:43Speaker 4: you know, win games and hopefully we get lucky.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I don't know the answer to that question. And actually, Aj,
- 15:49Speaker 3: it's the right question to ask right now. Where is ownership?
- 15:52Speaker 3: Are they gonna keep pushing or are they just gonna
- 15:54Speaker 3: be what they've been for many many years now, which
- 15:57Speaker 3: is kind of set me all the way in, but
- 16:00Speaker 3: not totally all the way in. So that's a question
- 16:04Speaker 3: that we'll see resolved in the offseason. And to go
- 16:07Speaker 3: back to Rally, to Raley's comments from two years ago.
- 16:12Speaker 3: One thing he said afterward he did apologize for making
- 16:16Speaker 3: the comments, basically because he was afraid that he had
- 16:19Speaker 3: offended his teammates. He didn't want to come off as
- 16:22Speaker 3: criticizing his teammates, and he wasn't criticizing his teammates.
- 16:24Speaker 1: He was saying, we.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Need better players, but not at the expense of his teammates.
- 16:28Speaker 3: What he was saying was, hey, we've got to go
- 16:30Speaker 3: out and get some people, and that they eventually did.
- 16:34Speaker 3: At the time, he did not apologize for wanting to win.
- 16:38Speaker 3: And AJ, I know you don't read me, but I
- 16:40Speaker 3: had an interview with Raleigh on the pregame show, I
- 16:45Speaker 3: believe it was before Game six, and I asked him
- 16:47Speaker 3: about those comments, and he said it came from a
- 16:49Speaker 3: place of frustration. And he also said that they've said
- 16:54Speaker 3: or they've done what they said they were going to do.
- 16:56Speaker 3: They improved the team, They've gone out and gotten players,
- 16:58Speaker 3: and he had no problem with the front office. In fact,
- 17:01Speaker 3: he signed a six year, one hundred and five million
- 17:03Speaker 3: dollar extension. So you're right, they are now at an
- 17:06Speaker 3: interesting crossroads because what they should do is double down
- 17:11Speaker 3: and keep going. They've got to improve their team a
- 17:13Speaker 3: little bit.
- 17:14Speaker 4: But will they do that.
- 17:16Speaker 3: I don't know the answer to that last question.
- 17:20Speaker 5: We just saw signing a manager, signing Kurtsuzuki with the Angels.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Congrats to him, what a great guy. Do you know
- 17:27Speaker 5: a little bit about him, talk about him. What do
- 17:29Speaker 5: you think this signing means for the Angels and how
- 17:32Speaker 5: do you see this, you know, turning out for the Angels.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Well, Kurt Tazuki is one of the great people in
- 17:38Speaker 3: the game, and he's a guy with a very upbeat personality.
- 17:41Speaker 3: He played for World Championship team in Washington in twenty nineteen,
- 17:46Speaker 3: and I have no doubt he can succeed as a manager.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I do have doubt that any manager can succeed in Anaheim.
- 17:55Speaker 3: And I don't know what happened with Pools, whether it
- 17:58Speaker 3: was money, whether he had just reservation, I don't know.
- 18:01Speaker 3: But for Kurt Suzuki, for Peramanazi in their GM, the
- 18:06Speaker 3: challenge is working for an owner who is committed in
- 18:10Speaker 3: his own way, not committed like you would want to
- 18:14Speaker 3: see him committed to winning. So I don't know. I
- 18:18Speaker 3: wish Kurt the best. I've known Kurt forever and he's
- 18:21Speaker 3: a great guy. As I said, will he be a
- 18:23Speaker 3: great manager? You never know when you hire someone essentially
- 18:26Speaker 3: who has never done it before. But he was a
- 18:28Speaker 3: former catcher. We all know how smart former catchers are
- 18:31Speaker 3: because on this program they kind of run the show.
- 18:34Speaker 3: But at the same time. Do I count on this
- 18:38Speaker 3: being a success. I can't count on this being a success.
- 18:40Speaker 1: No, that's a good way to put it.
- 18:43Speaker 2: There's such an obstacle there that will continue to be
- 18:45Speaker 2: an obstacle.
- 18:46Speaker 1: But we'll see how he handles it.
- 18:47Speaker 2: And I'm excited to also at some point see what
- 18:50Speaker 2: happened with pool Holsen with Artie.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Before Ken goes. I know he's got to go, But Ken,
- 18:55Speaker 4: would you have had Munnosen in the seventh or were
- 18:57Speaker 4: you happy with the Bazaar had?
- 19:00Speaker 1: Okay?
- 19:01Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 19:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you got to stop the game right there,
- 19:04Speaker 3: and again there's the leadoff walk. You can get somebody
- 19:07Speaker 3: up right then. Then you got two more hitters before
- 19:10Speaker 3: uh Springer spot came up. Yeah, I would have had
- 19:15Speaker 3: him up in that game. You still have Brash, you
- 19:18Speaker 3: still have Bizardo. After that, you could have managed the
- 19:21Speaker 3: rest of the game quite well.
- 19:24Speaker 1: That was the game.
- 19:25Speaker 4: That was the game.
- 19:28Speaker 3: One other thing the night before, and I got a
- 19:31Speaker 3: text from a manager right after the game about this
- 19:35Speaker 3: Bizarto pitch two winnings. Now, it was only fifteen pitches,
- 19:38Speaker 3: but he threw two winnings, and I believe that was
- 19:40Speaker 3: his ninth appearance of the postseason or last night was nine,
- 19:43Speaker 3: I'm not quite sure which it was one of the other.
- 19:45Speaker 3: He appeared in almost every game. He was kind of there,
- 19:48Speaker 3: Louis Varland. At some point, you gotta go to your
- 19:53Speaker 3: best guy, and they didn't do that.
- 19:56Speaker 4: Frash pitch two innings in seven games, Kenan, Yes, right,
- 20:04Speaker 4: it's too good waste, good waste on the bench.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that's where that's just that's where Mariners fans are
- 20:10Speaker 2: at right now. It's like great season whatever, but it's
- 20:12Speaker 2: not like they lost that game cleanly. There's a move
- 20:15Speaker 2: that many would make that I think is really causing
- 20:18Speaker 2: a lot of pain right now in Seattle. So we
- 20:19Speaker 2: wanted to make sure we hammered it and then we
- 20:21Speaker 2: can move on. Ken good stuff and we will talk
- 20:25Speaker 2: to you obviously later in the week about the World

- 21:23Speaker 2: for the Brewers, Kurt Hogue is back on FT. We
- 21:26Speaker 2: haven't put the season to bed for Milwaukee. Obviously, it
- 21:29Speaker 2: went to bed this past weekend, and then we were
- 21:31Speaker 2: busy yesterday getting ready for Game seven. But now we're
- 21:34Speaker 2: going to say night night to Milwaukee.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Kurt.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Good to see you, and tell me your evaluation of
- 21:40Speaker 2: the twenty twenty five campaign for the Brewers and try
- 21:43Speaker 2: to look at it from a more global perspective of
- 21:45Speaker 2: how this team has been good consistently but not doing
- 21:50Speaker 2: enough damage in the postseason Or am I wrong?
- 21:53Speaker 7: No, You're absolutely right.
- 21:54Speaker 8: I think this year was a bit different than the
- 21:58Speaker 8: past four or five success years where they get bounced
- 22:01Speaker 8: early because they did win a playoff series, and not
- 22:04Speaker 8: only did they win a playoff series, they beat their
- 22:06Speaker 8: biggest rivals in the division, the Cubs, Craig Council, all
- 22:10Speaker 8: all that jazz, you can say, whateveryone about the celebration
- 22:14Speaker 8: after in the l Flag and then getting absolutely bludgeoned
- 22:17Speaker 8: by the Dodgers, and they're pitching obviously that I don't
- 22:21Speaker 8: know if there's ever been a better pitch series than
- 22:24Speaker 8: we saw from those four guys. The Brewers went six
- 22:27Speaker 8: to zero against them in the regular season and absolutely
- 22:30Speaker 8: outclassed in the in the postseason. So kind of difficult
- 22:34Speaker 8: to square those two things together. But ultimately, look, they
- 22:38Speaker 8: won ninety seven wins, Murph would say just about every
- 22:42Speaker 8: day until we all grew tired of it. No one
- 22:45Speaker 8: really expected a ton from them, Not even those who've
- 22:48Speaker 8: been around the team like myself, saw ninety seven wins
- 22:52Speaker 8: and an NLCS appearance coming. So look, it was a
- 22:55Speaker 8: successful season that ended, unfortunately for them, in the same
- 23:00Speaker 8: way that it always ends without a World Series ring.
- 23:03Speaker 5: I want to ask you. I was gonna ask something else,
- 23:05Speaker 5: but I heard you say something that they were out class.
- 23:07Speaker 5: Can you further explain to me of what your reasoning
- 23:11Speaker 5: for that is and how you came up with something
- 23:13Speaker 5: like that.
- 23:15Speaker 8: I mean, you saw the pitching, right, the fact that
- 23:18Speaker 8: the Dodgers and their big money arms came at you
- 23:22Speaker 8: time and time again. And it wasn't just the fact
- 23:25Speaker 8: that they out talented.
- 23:28Speaker 7: The Brewers in that series.
- 23:30Speaker 8: It felt like there was a lot going on in
- 23:32Speaker 8: terms of the Dodgers pitching against the Brewers hitting that
- 23:35Speaker 8: just didn't line up well for the Brewers. And Blake
- 23:38Speaker 8: Snell comes out in Game one and locates better than
- 23:41Speaker 8: we ever see him locate, and he's going heavy change ups,
- 23:44Speaker 8: and the Brewers could never just Yamamoto. They were chasing everything,
- 23:48Speaker 8: chasing splits. You know, it looked everything looked like fastball
- 23:51Speaker 8: coming out of the hand against him, and a team
- 23:54Speaker 8: that doesn't chase swung at everything. So it was sort
- 23:57Speaker 8: of that that stood up from that series the Dodgers.
- 24:01Speaker 8: The Bruce pitching did great, held them to fifteen runs
- 24:04Speaker 8: outside of show obviously hitting three homers in the final.
- 24:07Speaker 8: They pitched pretty dang well, but they just they couldn't
- 24:11Speaker 8: get anything going on offense.
- 24:14Speaker 4: You mentioned this was what you say a good year
- 24:16Speaker 4: for the Brewers. But a good year okay, they want
- 24:19Speaker 4: to They won a five game series, congratulations, but they
- 24:21Speaker 4: didn't make it the World Series. Again, they didn't. They
- 24:24Speaker 4: got they got William, They got whacked by the Dodgers
- 24:28Speaker 4: like you mentioned, right, So why do you say it's
- 24:32Speaker 4: just because they won the one playoff series against the
- 24:34Speaker 4: cub A team that they had. You know, it's kind
- 24:36Speaker 4: of their rival. So does that make the fans happy
- 24:39Speaker 4: in Milwaukee or did they still want more in Milwaukee
- 24:41Speaker 4: because I did a bunch of games in Milwaukee, and man,
- 24:44Speaker 4: do they they want more? Right? They want Mark Ontinasio
- 24:46Speaker 4: to spend that and take the next step. And here
- 24:49Speaker 4: we are talking about Freddy perrault to maybe being traded,
- 24:52Speaker 4: William Catreres maybe traded. Are they gonna pick up options?
- 24:55Speaker 4: You know, like will they take the next step to
- 24:58Speaker 4: really you know, and they cutting the payroll, yet they
- 25:01Speaker 4: keep winning. At some point those two don't work together.
- 25:04Speaker 4: So when will the ownership, much like we just talked
- 25:06Speaker 4: about with the Maritors, take the next step and say, hey,
- 25:08Speaker 4: when we fill this place every game we are packed,
- 25:11Speaker 4: every game, we may sell a ton of merchandise. We're
- 25:14Speaker 4: gonna throw more money at this team and really try
- 25:16Speaker 4: to take the next step.
- 25:17Speaker 8: Yeah, Milwaukee's a place that there deserves a winner. It's
- 25:21Speaker 8: a great baseball city. You know that. You know, all
- 25:23Speaker 8: you guys that have been here, you know that they
- 25:26Speaker 8: sold i think twenty something games out in the second half.
- 25:29Speaker 8: The playoff atmospheres were incredible. It was I mean, yeah,
- 25:33Speaker 8: as it was a good year because they won ninety
- 25:35Speaker 8: seven games, and we all, i mean, like we've all
- 25:37Speaker 8: been around baseball for a long time. We know that
- 25:40Speaker 8: the playoffs can be fickled and you shouldn't probably just
- 25:43Speaker 8: use a postseason performance as a terminent entire season, and
- 25:47Speaker 8: this year was a step forward for the Brewers. But no, no,
- 25:49Speaker 8: you're absolutely right. You're kind of looking at them against
- 25:52Speaker 8: the Dodgers and this series and you're like, well, that's
- 25:55Speaker 8: that's your competition. You can kind of squeeze as much
- 25:58Speaker 8: out of the two toothpaste in the regular season. And
- 26:01Speaker 8: Matt Arnold his crew have done that time and time again.
- 26:04Speaker 8: Pat Murphy as a manager that he's done that in
- 26:07Speaker 8: both his seasons as well, and it's like, okay, well,
- 26:09Speaker 8: this is like best case, you win ninety seven games,
- 26:12Speaker 8: you get the one seed, the best record in baseball,
- 26:16Speaker 8: and then you get to the playoffs and it's like,
- 26:18Speaker 8: oh man, the talent level was disparity was really on display. No,
- 26:24Speaker 8: the Bruis played four bad games. The Dodgers played four
- 26:26Speaker 8: great games. That can happen at any point. Like I said,
- 26:28Speaker 8: the Bruis did beat them six times this season, but
- 26:31Speaker 8: when the chips were on the table and push came
- 26:34Speaker 8: to shove, they just didn't have the guys to compete
- 26:38Speaker 8: with the Dodgers. And you know, maybe that's not the
- 26:40Speaker 8: biggest knock in the world because it's the Dodgers. They
- 26:43Speaker 8: have all the guys. But the Brewers do need to
- 26:46Speaker 8: do something to up the top tier of their team
- 26:52Speaker 8: and be in a situation where they can compete in
- 26:56Speaker 8: that NLCS if they have to face the Dodgers again.
- 26:59Speaker 4: All right, Curl, I'm gonna running suit through some of
- 27:00Speaker 4: the decisions they have coming up. Shelby Miller, Jordan Montgomery,
- 27:03Speaker 4: their free agents. They're probably gone, right, we'll go. We'll
- 27:06Speaker 4: start with the options. William Coturs, that's an easy pickup
- 27:08Speaker 4: for me. Twelve million, that's an easy pickup, it seems
- 27:11Speaker 4: like to me. Reyese Hoskins seems like an easy He's
- 27:13Speaker 4: out the door. He didn't even play at the end.
- 27:15Speaker 4: He wasn't happy, right, Danny Jansen twelve million. They're not
- 27:18Speaker 4: picking that one up for a five hundred thousand dollars buyout. Sorry,
- 27:21Speaker 4: Freddy Peralta. They're already talking about trading him because they're
- 27:23Speaker 4: gonna pick up his option eight million dollars. The steal
- 27:25Speaker 4: of the year, Jose Cantana, they're not picking him up.
- 27:28Speaker 4: I don't think it's fifteen million. And then Brandon Woodruff
- 27:30Speaker 4: is the one that's interesting to me. Twenty million for
- 27:33Speaker 4: the option ten million dollar buyout. I would think he
- 27:36Speaker 4: would be a guy they would think about bringing back
- 27:38Speaker 4: your thoughts.
- 27:39Speaker 8: Yeah, I think the Brewers would be interested in that
- 27:41Speaker 8: because that's basically a ten million dollar deal for the
- 27:43Speaker 8: next year. But if you're Woody, I think you're getting
- 27:47Speaker 8: more than ten million on the market somewhere else. Now,
- 27:49Speaker 8: he pitched what eighteen nineteen games this year, somewhere in
- 27:53Speaker 8: that range, may fifteen games, and there is the history
- 27:56Speaker 8: of the shoulder. But in speaking with him, he feels
- 28:01Speaker 8: like he's at a full go next year, and we're
- 28:03Speaker 8: talking like workload, velocity stuff, all that stuff being back,
- 28:08Speaker 8: and so he probably will make more than ten miles
- 28:10Speaker 8: in the open market. And so this is like, look,
- 28:12Speaker 8: this is why mutual options almost never get picked up,
- 28:14Speaker 8: and then the Bruce case never get picked up.
- 28:17Speaker 7: So I could still see Woody being.
- 28:19Speaker 8: Back in Milwaukee if the two sides can work something out,
- 28:23Speaker 8: but they're gonna have to compete with some other clubs
- 28:25Speaker 8: on the open market because if he's at a full go, Like,
- 28:28Speaker 8: think about it, he was a three to two era
- 28:30Speaker 8: this year and he was throwing mid low nineties, mid
- 28:35Speaker 8: nineties when he was at his best, but mostly low nineties,
- 28:38Speaker 8: and like really pitching. Now, imagine if his fastballs are
- 28:40Speaker 8: back to to what we're used to seeing. That's a
- 28:43Speaker 8: guy that should generate some good interest this winter.
- 28:47Speaker 4: Hey, Kurt, how many more tricks does Pat Murphy have
- 28:49Speaker 4: up his sleep? He did the old average Joe's thing
- 28:52Speaker 4: this year, you know, he did the Woe is us
- 28:54Speaker 4: We're the little you know, the little engine that could
- 28:57Speaker 4: trick for the for the whole year this year, and
- 28:59Speaker 4: they had the best striking in baseball. What other tricks
- 29:01Speaker 4: does Pat Murphy have up his sleep?
- 29:04Speaker 7: I don't know, but there's more.
- 29:06Speaker 8: I guarantee you there's more you said in the production
- 29:09Speaker 8: meetings with him, There are more, Like I wouldn't be
- 29:12Speaker 8: surprised if we show up to spring training and they're
- 29:15Speaker 8: playing the underdog card again. I mean they it maybe
- 29:18Speaker 8: even be justified, Like the Cubs will probably pick to
- 29:21Speaker 8: win the division next year, and that's understandable. And if
- 29:25Speaker 8: they are, or Pakoda has the Brewers that like eighty
- 29:27Speaker 8: four wins again, guess who's gonna play that up. It's
- 29:30Speaker 8: gonna be Murph. That's what he does. And they're gonna
- 29:33Speaker 8: like they're just gonna go all in on the same
- 29:36Speaker 8: things again.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Hey, Kurt, I'll double down on the Freddy Peralta story.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I mean, that's gonna dominate the headlines. We know this
- 29:45Speaker 2: happens almost every off season now for the Brewers. Last
- 29:48Speaker 2: year it was Devin Williams. The year before that, it
- 29:50Speaker 2: was Corbyn Burns. It's Freddy Parolta talk time. Is there
- 29:54Speaker 2: any chance that they keep him? I mean, he's a
- 29:58Speaker 2: top five National league pitcher, he's cheap as hell, and
- 30:01Speaker 2: he's about to be a free agent. Isn't that a
- 30:03Speaker 2: lock for the Brewers to deal him away? And you
- 30:06Speaker 2: look at superstars that they've picked up for these past trades,
- 30:11Speaker 2: but valuable parts of the team, and they truly believe
- 30:14Speaker 2: that this is how they keep the train running and
- 30:16Speaker 2: not going through rebuild.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Right.
- 30:19Speaker 8: Yeah, I wouldn't categorize it as a lock that he
- 30:21Speaker 8: gets traded, But everything that I've picked up and gathered
- 30:24Speaker 8: from people that are you know, inside the industry and
- 30:28Speaker 8: have some idea of what the Brewers might be thinking
- 30:31Speaker 8: is that they expect him to be traded. And look,
- 30:34Speaker 8: we've seen the Brewers do this for it.
- 30:35Speaker 7: Just like you mentioned.
- 30:36Speaker 8: Scott, the one guy that they didn't trade, if you remember,
- 30:39Speaker 8: is Willi Adamis and Freddy does share a few similarities
- 30:44Speaker 8: with Willy in terms of the importance to the clubhouse
- 30:48Speaker 8: and like what he means to the franchise, But there's
- 30:53Speaker 8: a difference between the two of them in their final
- 30:56Speaker 8: year of team controls that Willy was coming off and down.
- 30:59Speaker 8: Hear Freddy's gonna finish in the top five of cy
- 31:01Speaker 8: Young voting for this this this season and his contract.
- 31:05Speaker 8: Everyone in the league can take that on. So it's
- 31:08Speaker 8: not a sure thing the Brewers trade him. You're gonna
- 31:11Speaker 8: have to meet the price for sure. But all signs.
- 31:17Speaker 8: You know everything we know about how the Brewers like
- 31:19Speaker 8: to keep churning and don't want to avoid it.
- 31:21Speaker 7: They don't you know, they.
- 31:22Speaker 8: Don't want to have any potholes where they just really
- 31:25Speaker 8: stink for a couple of years. Like they want to
- 31:27Speaker 8: keep the talent pool full and get that young control talent.
- 31:31Speaker 8: Odds are Freddy Peralta could be moved this offseason.
- 31:37Speaker 5: Definitely, definitely to the guys in absolute God. Now along
- 31:40Speaker 5: those lines, guys getting moved, guys not getting picked up.
- 31:43Speaker 5: Can you talk a little bit about the minor leagues?
- 31:45Speaker 5: There is there anybody that you could see coming up
- 31:48Speaker 5: from Double A, Triple A that's going to make a
- 31:50Speaker 5: mark on this team and help them get that next
- 31:52Speaker 5: step forward in the playoffs.
- 31:55Speaker 8: I think it's interesting if you look at the Brewers window,
- 31:58Speaker 8: they have a really really good farm, So hazous Ma
- 32:00Speaker 8: Day obviously one of the top four or five prospects
- 32:03Speaker 8: probably in baseball.
- 32:04Speaker 7: Cooper Pratt's up there. Guys like that.
- 32:06Speaker 8: They have a really good system and they keep drafting
- 32:08Speaker 8: and developing well. But it's a little bit down the
- 32:11Speaker 8: road now that like guys like miss and Logan Henderson
- 32:15Speaker 8: and Robert Gasser have come up and they'll be in
- 32:17Speaker 8: the rotation next year. Like that's sort of the young
- 32:20Speaker 8: talent pool that they'll be relying on a lot next year.
- 32:23Speaker 8: And then maybe it's a couple of years down the
- 32:25Speaker 8: road when my day's up and Pratt's here and Jefferson
- 32:29Speaker 8: Caro's a starting catcher after Contraras leaves, like there, their
- 32:33Speaker 8: window is extended. There's not necessarily any guys like right
- 32:37Speaker 8: on the on the precipice of the big leagues next year,
- 32:41Speaker 8: although maybe you could argue that what we saw from
- 32:43Speaker 8: miss and the Posts in the postseason, he's on the
- 32:46Speaker 8: precipice of being like a really, really good big league pitcher.
- 32:50Speaker 8: There's still a lot for him to figure out, but
- 32:52Speaker 8: those kind of performances make you feel pretty good if
- 32:55Speaker 8: you're the Brewers about him as like a number two,
- 32:57Speaker 8: number three starter next year.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Now it's gonna be my question, what do they do
- 33:00Speaker 4: with him next year? Because going into listen be going
- 33:02Speaker 4: into the postseason, you know this curt they didn't really
- 33:04Speaker 4: hide it. They didn't even know what he was going
- 33:06Speaker 4: to be in the postseason. They didn't know if he's
- 33:08Speaker 4: gonna be on the roster. They didn't know if he
- 33:10Speaker 4: was going to be a starter or reliever. They didn't
- 33:11Speaker 4: know if they could trust him. And then he went
- 33:13Speaker 4: out and had some huge performances for him. So does
- 33:15Speaker 4: that automatically earn him back the trust of Murph and
- 33:18Speaker 4: and the coaching staff in the front offense and say, okay,
- 33:20Speaker 4: we can plug this guy into the rotation because he
- 33:22Speaker 4: did make the All Star team as a starter this year.
- 33:24Speaker 4: I mean, as controversial as it.
- 33:26Speaker 8: Was, Yeah, he's going to be a starter. I think
- 33:29Speaker 8: he's a lock for the opening day of rotation. The
- 33:32Speaker 8: Brewers are, you know, they're one of those teams that
- 33:35Speaker 8: they trust the stuff, and in the postseason that's what
- 33:38Speaker 8: they did. They trusted the stuff. No one had any idea.
- 33:42Speaker 8: I think Anyon would be lying to you if they
- 33:43Speaker 8: told you they knew that this was going to go
- 33:46Speaker 8: that well for miz. But you learn a lot about
- 33:49Speaker 8: the kid walking into Dodger Stadium and commanding the ball
- 33:53Speaker 8: like he did in commanding the moment in that Game three.
- 33:56Speaker 7: He was incredible.
- 33:57Speaker 8: He was lights out until he kind of ran out
- 33:59Speaker 8: of gas a little bit there at the end. So look,
- 34:02Speaker 8: if you're trading Freddy, you're doing so because you have
- 34:05Speaker 8: a lot of confidence that this guy, even though it
- 34:07Speaker 8: was a very rocky regular season, that he showed you
- 34:10Speaker 8: things that Brandon Woodriff and Corban Byrn showed you in
- 34:13Speaker 8: twenty eighteen. It's like it's that method, that model sort
- 34:17Speaker 8: of all over again, of like, oh, yeah, no, this guy,
- 34:20Speaker 8: this guy's a dude. He can be at the front
- 34:22Speaker 8: of our rotation.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Joke in coming, but what about Ashby starting every game
- 34:28Speaker 2: next year?
- 34:30Speaker 7: Hey, he might be a starter. He could be a starter.
- 34:33Speaker 4: They already tried that, I thought. Then they signed him
- 34:35Speaker 4: and then they made him relieve Remember he was a
- 34:37Speaker 4: starter at one point, but he couldn't throw enough strikes.
- 34:39Speaker 4: That's why they stuck him in. They did sign him
- 34:42Speaker 4: to that deal, and then they're like, oh, wait, maybe we.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Shouldn't have done this. He's got a long term deal, right.
- 34:47Speaker 7: No, he does.
- 34:48Speaker 8: Yeah, And there's also the shoulder injury. The shoulder surgery
- 34:51Speaker 8: kind of derailed that a little bit. So I could
- 34:54Speaker 8: see him wanting to start, right, wouldn't you, As you
- 34:57Speaker 8: got a couple of years left before he's going to
- 34:59Speaker 8: be a free agent again in a few years, that
- 35:02Speaker 8: would raise your value. And look, the dude's got what
- 35:04Speaker 8: like a nasty four or five pitch mix. And he's
- 35:07Speaker 8: proven he can start every day in the playoffs.
- 35:10Speaker 7: What more do you want?
- 35:12Speaker 4: You know, I mean, next to you talk about it.
- 35:15Speaker 4: If they've traded Freddy, which everyone kind of thinks is
- 35:17Speaker 4: gonna happen, they go Priester Gasser, miss Patrick, Patrick and
- 35:22Speaker 4: who Henderson. Yeah, but they better find some depth somewhere. Yeah.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Remember when they had too many starters and they It's
- 35:32Speaker 2: just crazy how a season goes where. I mean we
- 35:34Speaker 2: looked at them, We're like, damn, the Brewers actually have
- 35:37Speaker 2: a surplus.
- 35:38Speaker 8: And then and then they had gotten they had had
- 35:43Speaker 8: one point five starters in the playoffs.
- 35:46Speaker 4: It was the point five Ashby pre sir, Oh yeah,
- 35:50Speaker 4: but he didn't even start. They started Ashby exactly.
- 35:53Speaker 7: Yeah, he could get you like two times.
- 35:54Speaker 4: Today at once and Ashby and who was the other one?
- 35:58Speaker 7: McGill start. McGill opened the game.
- 36:01Speaker 8: Quintana pitched Game four against the Dodgers, didn't go well.
- 36:05Speaker 8: So I'm going one point five starters and then some openers.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Chad Patrick had a pretty good season, but didn't have
- 36:12Speaker 2: enough confidence in him being a guy that could begetting
- 36:14Speaker 2: and then he gave.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Up the ball out of the stadium to show him
- 36:16Speaker 4: they realized they might have been right.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he had good and bad.
- 36:20Speaker 4: Actually, him and priests are actually really good for him.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Yeah, they both had what one like, really bad inning
- 36:26Speaker 2: and then the rest were pretty much good from what
- 36:28Speaker 2: I remember. Yeah, it's getting to be a blur. But
- 36:30Speaker 2: all right, well, Kirk, you know, Kurt, we'll talk again, obviously.
- 36:33Speaker 2: And great coverage of the postseason. Thanks for joining us. Man,
- 36:37Speaker 2: I'm thinking about the condre, Kurt, Kurt, thanks man, All right,
- 36:40Speaker 2: thanks guys,
