- 0:16It must be a special day. Ooh, she said, perhaps Piglet was.
- 0:23And he trotted off to the part of the wood where Piglet lived.
- 0:27He knocked on with a special attack. that he'd seen for days like a day that
- 0:34piglet had that excited feeling in his tummy but he wasn't sure what day it was either,
- 0:41christopher robin will know he said,
- 0:45and sure enough christopher robin did that's a birthday feeling he said And
- 0:52birthdays made parties and parties made friends and friends games and cakes.
- 0:59Soon the whole forest knew about the birthday and everyone did something to help.
- 1:09Owl painted a special sign. Party is here. Come quick.
- 1:18Kanga and Roo made party biscuits.
- 1:22Birthday! Birthday! shouted Roo, excitedly banging his little spoon.
- 1:30But it was Piglet who had the most important job. He was making the birthday cake.
- 1:37I hope Pooh won't eat it all, he thought, but I'll have to make a very big cake.
- 1:45I'll have to make Esh to be sure there's enough for everyone,
- 1:50even Rabbit and all his friends and relations.
- 1:54How did such a small animal make a big cake? said Christopher Robin.
- 2:00As they gathered for the birthday, Piglet smiled modestly.
- 2:06It was the very best cake he had ever made. Now what happens?
- 2:12Asked Eeyore gloomily.
- 2:16It's all the fuss over. Can we go home? We've hardly started,
- 2:21laughed Christopher Robin.
- 2:24We must sing to him and they've asked.
- 2:28Whose birthday is it? he asked. Hmm, said Pooh, as everyone started talking at once.
- 2:38Rabbit thought it was Eel's birthday, and Eel thought it was Christopher Robin's,
- 2:44but it turned out not to be anyone's birthday.
- 2:48It must be somebody's birthday, sighed Piglet, thinking about the work he put into making a cake.
- 2:59Since silence fell, only the sound was the river burbling.
- 3:07Do rivers have birthdays?
- 3:11Asked Pooh, hopefully. They sure do, smiled Christopher Robin. Let's go and find out.
- 3:19So they went to the special part of the river where the jumpy stepping stones were.
- 3:26As soon as they saw the water sparkling in the sun, they knew for sure that
- 3:32it was the river's birthday.
- 3:36And so the party preparations continued. Piglet didn't have enough puff to blow
- 3:41up the balloons, but with a bit of help from the others.
- 3:47Soon he had a big bunch which he tied to the branches.
- 3:54Christopher Robin, who was the tallest and colourful,
- 3:59bunting from trees and everyone lay out the biggest feast of them any of them had ever seen.
- 4:13There were hoodies, sandwiches, crunchy apples and tasty cakes with cherries on the top.
- 4:20Perhaps it was the sunshine, perhaps it was the sweet things to eat,
- 4:26sweet things to eat, but everyone got a bit over-excited.
- 4:33Piglet swung widely from the branches
- 4:36of a nearby tree. Moo sang happy birthday at the top of his voice.
- 4:42Tigger bounced like he had never bounced before, and little Moo fell asleep.
- 4:49Among the cake crumbs.
- 4:52Let's play past the parcel.
- 4:56Announced christopher robin and they did sometimes the parcel was passed and
- 5:02sometimes he was sat upon rue who only was just woken a little muddled and they
- 5:09wanted to pass it on at all,
- 5:12But at last, the layers were unwrapped,
- 5:16and Piglet was the lucky winner of pencils.
- 5:22Of all the colours of the rainbow, games are fun. Must poo.
- 5:29It's a shame the river can't join in.
- 5:33But then Christopher Robin had a
- 5:34good idea. I know a game that would be impossible to do without the river.
- 5:42He announced, Happy Birthday, River! Everyone sang as they raced little boats made out of paper.
- 5:50Splish splash gurgle, replied the river.
- 5:55As the breath of the wind over the water blew out.
- 6:00The candles on the birthday cake. They all agreed it was the perfect end to the river's birthday.
- 6:10The end and thank you for listening.
