And today we are going to talk about something really useful — going to the clinic. Luna: Oh good. Because I think last time we did the pharmacy, but the clinic is a step up, right? Lucas: Exactly. So if you're feeling sick and you need to see a doctor, these phrases will help. Let's start with the most basic one: I feel unwell. Luna: I feel unwell. So how do we say that in Cantonese? Lucas: 我唔舒服. Listen again: 我唔舒服. Luna: 我唔舒服. That's: ngo5 m4 syu1 fuk6. Wait, I said it kind of slow. Let me try again. Lucas: Sure, take your time. Luna: 我唔舒服. How was that? Lucas: Excellent! You got it. So if you feel unwell, you say 我唔舒服. Luna: Got it. Now, what if I have a fever? Lucas: Then you say: 我發燒. 發燒 means 'have a fever'. Luna: 我發燒. That's: ngo5 faat3 siu1. Okay, I'll remember that. Lucas: And if you have a headache: 我頭痛. 頭痛 means 'headache'. Luna: 我頭痛. So 頭 is head, and 痛 is pain. Lucas: Right. So you can combine these: 我唔舒服, 我發燒, 我頭痛. All of these are things you might tell the doctor. Luna: Okay. And then I need to say I want to see a doctor, right? Lucas: Yes! That's: 我要睇醫生. 睇 means 'to see', and 醫生 is 'doctor'. Luna: 我要睇醫生. So literally: I want to see doctor. Lucas: Exactly. And after the doctor gives you medicine, you need to 'take medicine', which is: 食藥. Luna: 食藥. So 食 is eat, and 藥 is medicine. Eat medicine. Got it. Lucas: Now let's put it all together in a little scene. Imagine you go to the clinic and the nurse asks you what's wrong. You can say: 我唔舒服, 我發燒, 我頭痛. Then you say: 我要睇醫生. And after the doctor prescribes something, the nurse might tell you: 食藥. Luna: That makes sense. Let me try the whole thing. 我唔舒服, 我發燒, 我頭痛. 我要睇醫生. And then 食藥. Lucas: Perfect! You sound like a pro. Luna: Oh, thanks. But I think I need more practice. Let's do some repetition. Lucas: Sure. Repeat after me: 我唔舒服. Luna: 我唔舒服. Lucas: 我發燒. Luna: 我發燒. Lucas: 我頭痛. Luna: 我頭痛. Lucas: 我要睇醫生. Luna: 我要睇醫生. Lucas: 食藥. Luna: 食藥. Lucas: Great! Now, let's do a quick role-play. I'll be the nurse, you be the patient. Nurse: 你有咩唔舒服？ Luna: 我唔舒服, 我發燒, 我頭痛. Lucas: 哦, 你要睇醫生. 醫生會俾藥你. 食藥啦. Luna: 好, 唔該.
