- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: The Adler brothers are just
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Savance when it comes to restauranting and Presto, but he kind of with Darna was my favorite.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: I love it and conquered.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: I love it and Santa Clara.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: I love it and Southern California, San Diego, Lohoya, but in the stadium, you're not gonna get anything better.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: So go see him.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: Section 116, you can get the tacos, the chicken vera day or the short rib barbecue.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: I had the short rib barbecue out of the state in the other day.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: It was so good with a little bit of kick.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: But it's, you know, the signature crispy cheese, the chili, manzano salsa, the barbecue slaw, and sauce, or the chicken varide with the braise chicken rolled in the pesto, signature crispy cheese, the pickled onions, the cilantro, it's so good.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: You can also get the nachos, yeah, classic nachos, and they have nachos that are the same meat options that chicken varide in the short rib barbecue.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: And of course the pesto classic guacamole, it's so good.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, Adler Brothers.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for supporting the show.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, Pusto.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: And thank you for supporting Pusto.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: You will love it.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: Also thanks to Volvo Cars Marin, Matt Gordon and his squad, Volvo Cars Marin appreciate what they did for my family, putting us in a plug in hybrid, the XC90, adjust the neck of time, I haven't filled up the gas tank in six weeks, thank God, but I know the car is safe for my family.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: I loved every time, every single time I get in this car, I'm just like, oh, this is so fun to drive, so comfortable.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: We get the blonde interior, the black exterior, it's just a beautiful car.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if you're looking for a newer use Volvo, you got a car all or swing by or go online and check out Volvo Cars Marin.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: I've never had a Volvo before, but we're hooked.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: We love it.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: So, okay, let's go on with the show.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: A day after the 49er signed Brandon Cooks, I have opened my eyes to the possibility that Brandon Cooks is a major improvement for the 49ers over what I thought would be the obvious situation that puts Jordan Watkins on the field.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: When the 49er signed Brandon Cooks, I'll admit, I didn't think a lot of it a day later after talking to some people, doing some digging on Brandon Cooks, I've been shocked.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: and then I watched his last three games and was further impressed.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: But as the things I've heard about him, so we're gonna, the Brock party play from this week that I think defines everything for Brock.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: Something, I don't think enough people are paying attention to on George Kiddler, I want to get to couple one D-Line men they could trade for among what we're gonna get to in the show today on Guy Football Focus, but let's talk about Brandon Cook's because I've heard some amazing things.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: One person who knows him well, former NFL player told me he's super intense and Brandon Cooks is the hardest worker I've ever seen.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to fit right in.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be a great fit for the offense, situational guy that they need with strip out.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: He can take the top off and also be more of a third down guy to help Debo.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: OK, that's the guy who has been around him before.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: But I also went and investigated
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: what happened in Buffalo last year.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: He was cut by the Saints last year, played a handful of games down the stretch last year in Buffalo.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: And what it turns out happened in Buffalo last year was he came in late in the season and became Josh Allen's favorite target, like right away on a really good team.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: Now if you go look at the stats, you go look at the game log.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: The game log doesn't say right away he became like game one.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: He became Josh Allen's favorite target.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: But it's clear that after like four games he did, I went and watched week 17, the last regular season game he played and then the two playoff games.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: And what's clear is that Josh Allen really, really, really trusted Brandon Cooks.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's clear that Brandon Cooks can run.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: and it's clear that Brandon Cooks is a tough SOB.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny, it's all right there to see, and then when you do some digging on the guy, and it's like, you know, he's just, this is what happened sometimes Buffalo makes a trade for a receiver, Buffalo drafts a receiver, and then the veteran guy, you're not gonna carry him through camp with you into the regular season, you'd sign him like now, which is what the founders are doing,
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: But you're not going to guarantee his full salary when you've allocated resources to that position.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: But I said, my immediate reaction to Brandon Cooks was, because it, you know, it's, it wasn't a trial.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like he came it on Tuesday, we'll find out Thursday and Friday how it looked, but he just got out on the field on their Wednesday.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: He got to learn the offense, Kyle said, well, he played for McVay.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's a smart guy from what I very smart guy from what I was told.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: So as I was told, it's not gonna take and long to pick up the 40 matters off, and it's or pick up enough to be able to contribute.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: And here's the other thing.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't really play special teams.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: So that's good news for Jacob County.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't gonna be bad news for Jacob County.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's also good news for Kadero Hodge.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's bad news for Jordan Watkins.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: And when they signed Brandon Cooks on Tuesday, I was asked about it and I said, well, this is really gonna be Harry if Jordan Watkins can't beat up Brandon Cooks.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: Brandon Cooks just showed up.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I've changed my opinion.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see how Jordan Wackens, if Brandon Cook's does, pick up the offense, I don't see how Jordan Wackens beats out, Brandon Cook's, like, the last game he played, not two years ago, a few months ago was Josh Allen's most trusted target.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: When you go and for those of you watching on YouTube,
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: What I've got are nine catches and an completion to Brandon Cooks, the last regular season game you play, which was week 17, and then the two playoff games.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: And a few things show up.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: One, Josh Allen and his big arm actually under throw Brandon Cooks a couple of times.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: Brandon Cooks proves to be a guy that even though we came up short of the sticks on one particular catch.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: But he knows how to get past the sticks catch first down.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: slow down on the sideline and get himself in bounds.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Allen in a few spots in contested situations, puts it up to Brandon Cooks.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: And the famous Brandon Cooks play is the last Brandon Cooks play this season, which is the interception in Denver.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Controversial as it was at the end of the game, it was the right call.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was one of those, you may not reject one.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: McMillan contested situation, took it away from him as he's hitting the ground and it goes as a Broncos interception, but repeatedly.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: Tight window throws to Brandon Cooks and Brandon Cooks.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: For the most part, the Broncos play notwithstanding wins contested situations.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: Battles through past interferences, picks up first downs.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, I think I counted three of the nine, excuse me, two of the nine and then the one in reception in Denver are plays where they might have been bigger home runs if Josh Allen didn't on a throne.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: You can throw it to him on those little bubble screen,
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: he has good hands, I mean, he's just like, and then you add to it that he's, he's going to be one of the hardest workers in the room is a very serious guy, very intense.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm told, excuse me, and it's just going to fit right in.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, what's not to love about it.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: So now you're like, guy, they've had all these receivers.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: If you was this guy, they would have signed them already.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's some truth to that, but, I mean, not really, like they headstribbling and they like dribbling.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: They head to Marcus Robinson, they like to Marcus Robinson, you know, but this guy, like, if you, if you ask me right now, predict who has more catches for the 40 of that, is this your Brandon Cook's or Christian Kirk, or Brandon Cook's or Jordan Walkins, I'm going Brandon Cook's.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: And again, he's practiced once, and that was Wednesday.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see if he, how he practiced on Thursday, and how he's going to practice on Friday.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like it's a little crazy for him to be up on game day this week, but I don't know.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: It sounds like the only thing that would hold him back is how ready he is to, how well he can pick up the offense.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: So, wow, yeah, I'm total 180, total 180.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: very impressed.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about Brock Pretty.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think the defendant, it's been a lot of there always is, but you know, Brock, 20 to 22, almost a perfect passer rating, had a chance at it.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: This last week, you know, the numbers are just, uh,
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: Some of them were just ridiculous.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: Then I don't have 10 scoring drives, 11 in complete passes in two weeks, and 10 different players have a catch.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: All nine of Mike Evans' catches this season have resulted in either a first-down or a touchdown, which is like, yeah, this dude's awesome.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, it sucks they lost somebody, but as long as they keep Mike Evans, who's battling with the hip this week?
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think the throw that Brock pretty made to Mike Evans, at the Pylon, he caught it at about the 1015 yard line and then kind of jumps sideways and almost made it to the Pylon.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: In a lot of ways, it kind of summarizes a lot of the stuff.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: One of the things that we're talking about this year with Brock, one of the new things, and one of the original things we've talked about with Brock.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: The new thing it summarizes is the thing that Brock identified this week, as the thing he worked on in the offseason, which was really identifying where can I be aggressive in the right spot?
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: When is the right time to be aggressive?
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's take advantage of those situations.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: And why this play represents that is that to hear people talk about it, the...
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: Debo Samuel, who was coming across the formation shallower than Mike Evans, was initially going to be the guy that's going to catch this ball, but Debo gets caught up and bumped at the line of scrimmage and it throws off the timing of the play.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: Then Brock has to make a decision, what do I do?
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: The fact is that Debo then became open,
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: about for what would have been you know like through the air about a seven or eight or nine yard throw when you can't work rock was behind the last screen so it would have been a give me a layup and then there's my Kevin's he's about eight yards behind the bow with the numbers running towards the sideline and rocks as you know I'm going to make that throw and when you watch it
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's the decision has got to see, but it's Brock knowing his ability, and then he makes the throw, and he dots, I mean, it is a perfect throw.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's as good, you truly cannot make a better throw, and especially love it, because he's on the move a little bit and kind of falling away, Brock, you know, Brock does that little fall-away thing?
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: So that's one of the things that I think it represents.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: The other thing it represents, the older thing that it represents
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: that Kyle Shanahan can't be on the field.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: For all of his genius as an offensive play caller, for his goodyseous as a head coach, and he's great.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: When we talk about, well, a lot of quarterbacks would love to play for Kyle.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: He protects the quarterback well.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: He puts the quarterback in positions to succeed.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: All that stuff is true.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: But then where Brock comes in is Brock Elevate, some of this stuff.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: because plays break down or maybe you're asked to do a lot.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: Can you execute it all?
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: And what I've said for years is there's a white line and Kyle can tell you everything that he thinks is about to happen up until that headset communication goes off at 15 seconds.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then the headset communication goes off.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: And you as the quarterback are out there on an island.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: you and your boys as Fernando Mendoza once said, it's just you and your boys and Kyle can't walk out there.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: Kyle doesn't have a joystick.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: There's no joystick.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: There's he's not a Marionette.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, he can't a button, be button, X.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: He's just like the rest of us once the play starts.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: Stand in there, yellin' at the raffs.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: And then the players decide, the Jimmy's in the jose decide the play.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the guys that ultimately win the Super Bowl and win the championships because they got to make the throw.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: And sometimes maybe most of the time, it's a drop-back and read and boom, oh, Nick Mullins could have made that play.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: But then we're greatness, develops itself, we're greatness reveals itself.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's not on every play, it's Tom Brady, it's not on every single play.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: And that's where all of those things were, they revealed themselves at first kind of slowly.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: And then you see it everywhere.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe this will be the year we see it everywhere.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we'll see, you know, as we've talked about them, I think it's gonna be Brock's best year.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: But on that play, I think we saw a big part of like, yeah, it's running Kyle's system.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's a hard, it's hard, it's complicated.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: Some guys can do it well, but if you can do it great, you can win a Super Bowl.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: And right now, he's doing it great.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: And executing that throw was just great, just great.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: So I felt like that play kind of represented something.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: I want to talk about George Kittle for a second, because history was made with Christian McAfrey's 100 touchdowns and 50 touchdowns for
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: two different teams, if Christian catches a touchdown pass, it'll be the most touchdown receptions by running back in this or when Christian catches a touchdown the most in the Super Bowl era.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: But I was thinking about what would it look like if this 40-90 team won the Super Bowl this year on the stage.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, for Kyle Shanahan, it would be the monkey off his back.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe the one that would open the floodgates till match Bill walls for games coached is the 49er's head coach this week.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, he's younger than Bill was when Bill...
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: got the job.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's younger than, I mean, it was the same age, actually.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: His bill was when Bill got the job, but younger than Bill was when Bill won his first Super Bowl.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the stat, the career stat that is coming up that everyone should be aware of is that George Kiddle, if he says, healthy, the cheer will pass to Roland's for the second most receiving arts in franchise history.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: The number one spot, of course, is Jerry Rice, 1927.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: Jerry has the most receiving
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: and second on that list is Larry Fitzgerald and third on the all-time NFL list is Tio.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: And Tio is second on the 49ers list.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: In eight seasons as a 49er, he caught 8,572 yards worth of passes.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: Well, George is at 8,100.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, somewhere in December, around the 9th, 10th, 11th game of the year and all likelihood, Kittle will pass Tio for number two on the 49ers all-time receiving
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's really significant.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's doing it in basically a year and a half, two more years than T.O.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: did it, but T.O.s a receiver.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the greatest receivers of all time.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's not just the second most prolific receiver, the second greatest receiver, the second, greatest receiver, and I don't say if he's one of the greatest receivers all time.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: And George Kills is going to pass him, yeah, in 10 years, but like not in 15 years in two more years as a tight end.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's crazy.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_00]: T.O.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_00]: was 15,900 for his career.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: Never got to a conference championship, of course, with the 49ers.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I do think, it just got me thinking, like, if they're on the podium, holding up the lumbarity, it's so if I stayed in this year, it will feel, I think, in some ways, most emotional, like for Kyle, given the two regular season Super Bowl losses, and the 28 to three Falcons lost to the Patriots.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: for for Brock right it'll be viewed as a coronation.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: Um, for Trent Williams, it'll be a, uh, uh, you know, an accomplishment, a reward that matches his extended greatness, right, not just greatness, but extended greatness and I love to play.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I keep coming back and playing for the commanders to start your career, right?
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, for Christian McAfrey, it would be the payoff of all of his discipline and dedication and greatness and he joined his father to win a ring.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_00]: uh... with a shanna hand it be a second for my caverns which i think would would put them in the hall of fame if there's a debate now that i wish i think there is but that i was all talk about like there isn't but especially given how big of a roll he would have watching him now for two weeks like oh my god this guy for friend water he would do what the legendary recent greats on the 49ers defense couldn't do which is when when the super ball but to me the definitive guy on that stage
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: holding the trophy would be George Kettle 10 years with Shanahan and Lynch and use check came in with Kyle a unicorn in his own right back now from a major injury embodiment of if of the toughness and the swagger that is required to play for Kyle Shanahan but really that is embodied by Kyle Shanahan
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: I hesitate to say this because it, it feels a little hollow, but I do think a trophy especially, but when I just think about it, it's going to be second all time and receiving in franchise history and a crazy way, I think kiddo will be even more appreciated after the fact.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I, and I'm not, I hate being the guy, it's like, oh, I appreciate him enough, but nobody else does.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying that.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think when you stop and really think about his place in history, for this historic, if especially if these guys want to superbowl together, I mean, what comes next for Kyle, what comes next for Brock, right, do they win a few more together?
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: That changes the story, and you know, he wouldn't be done, George, necessarily, but
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just looking at those, I update those stats every week like how many more destroyed need.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: And just looking at it today, it just struck me like I think.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like he'd be, this team is really hard to pick out one of any but like you can't just pick out one, right?
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: Debo, I didn't even say, Debo, a rebirth for Debo, like what an incredible return, like a superhero returning first sequel that people like that was better than the original potentially.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's too far, not better than the original, I guess we'll see, but, but Debo too, I mean, it'd be significant for him, but I do think, I
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: a tight end, passing TO.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's one thing like, oh, a tight end second on our friendship.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: Well, who are you?
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: The pants passing TO.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's just crazy.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's crazy.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: Not pictured on the stage.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: I, you.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's also crazy.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: Just one name for you to add here.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: I was texting around.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: I said, hey, who I asked somebody, who do you think it's going to be available?
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: Personnel guy with another team?
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: Who do you think it's going to be?
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: Who's it?
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: Who should the nighters?
- 20:29[SPEAKER_00]: Deeline, like who
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to trade for Max Crosby, but you know, it was not looking great launching to and they're coming in here in a few weeks, and we'll get to see Doron Payne, who's in this ninth year, will be a free agent after this year, and that was the name I was given as a guy to watch for.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: As a guy that could be traded soon, if Washington, if it's not going well for them or even if it's just going average, now he may be a guy they want to resign, but nonetheless, late 20, I think, 2829 and you know, would immediately upgrade your defensive line and it doesn't take a first or a first round pick to get him.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, to run pain, if you're looking for a name on the defensive line, there's a name on the defensive line.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: All right, that's it for this show.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: Don't forget another episode of the 49ers guy over on the 49ers channel will be coming out later in the week.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_00]: So watch out for that.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: Go subscribe to that podcast wherever you get your podcasts.
