- 0:06Speaker 1: Generational wealth could be shifting, and today we're going to
- 0:08Speaker 1: be breaking that down how gold and crypto are starting
- 0:11Speaker 1: to intersect. My name is Paul Barren. Welcome back into
- 0:13Speaker 1: tech path. Let's get into it today. I do want
- 0:16Speaker 1: to thank our sponsor, and that is I Trust. If
- 0:17Speaker 1: you guys are looking at long term and you want
- 0:20Speaker 1: to think about an IRA, well you can get into
- 0:22Speaker 1: an IRA, including crypto, gold, silver, all of that available
- 0:27Speaker 1: over on I Trust Capital. The cool thing about setting
- 0:30Speaker 1: it up over there is it's very easy, very secure.
- 0:33Speaker 1: In of course, one of the things that they have
- 0:34Speaker 1: done has built a great business. Over two hundred and
- 0:37Speaker 1: fifty thousand people now involved in I Trust Capital, So

- 0:42Speaker 1: one hundred dollars funding reward to get started and you
- 0:45Speaker 1: guys can get going. Before I bring our guests on today,
- 0:48Speaker 1: we have Andy Schechman coming in from Miles Franklin today
- 0:52Speaker 1: and we're going to.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Talk about gold.
- 0:53Speaker 1: But I want to go to this first clip to
- 0:55Speaker 1: give you a framework of what's going on. Take a
- 0:57Speaker 1: look is.
- 0:58Speaker 2: The bull case for gold to intact. This is a
- 1:01Speaker 2: flight to safety.
- 1:02Speaker 3: This is gold now competing versus the dollar and that's
- 1:05Speaker 3: driven in large part by central bank buying, which doesn't
- 1:08Speaker 3: show any signs of slowing down.
- 1:10Speaker 4: The China News earlier this week about China increasing the
- 1:12Speaker 4: quotas to allow more domestic buying of gold. They wouldn't
- 1:16Speaker 4: be doing that if they thought the gold market was
- 1:18Speaker 4: going to go into some kind of crazy territory and
- 1:20Speaker 4: would damage domestic investors.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I rely on retail investors and they are not buying.
- 1:26Speaker 3: You know, the magic number was always eighty to one.
- 1:28Speaker 3: What's not moving up it's silver. And when retail investors
- 1:34Speaker 3: get into the gold market, they buy both. Central banks
- 1:38Speaker 3: don't buy silver. If everybody, the retail investor was clamoring
- 1:42Speaker 3: into the market to buy coins and bars, do you
- 1:44Speaker 3: think those premiums would be going down or going through
- 1:47Speaker 3: the roof? Of course they'd be going through the roof.
- 1:50Speaker 3: They're not, and the retail investor is still on the sidelines.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Why is gold moving at the rate in which it is?
- 1:58Speaker 1: So I thought I'll bring in our gold expert, and
- 2:00Speaker 1: that is Andy Schackman coming in from Miss Franklin. How
- 2:02Speaker 1: are you, Andy, Paul?
- 2:03Speaker 2: Great to see you, brother. I'm doing well, Thank you excellent,
- 2:06Speaker 2: Thanks all as well.
- 2:07Speaker 1: What do you make of all of this move we
- 2:09Speaker 1: are seeing gold that really all time highs. Obviously, the
- 2:13Speaker 1: performance has continued to outpace that of most market positions
- 2:18Speaker 1: right now, and the analysts are scrambling trying to figure
- 2:21Speaker 1: out where does it go from here? What's your current
- 2:23Speaker 1: position on that? Before we kind of get into some
- 2:25Speaker 1: of the items.
- 2:26Speaker 5: Look, I mean, in twenty nineteen, the most powerful bank
- 2:30Speaker 5: on the planet, the Bank of International Settlements PAUL, the
- 2:33Speaker 5: Central Bank or Central Bank reclassified gold as the world's
- 2:36Speaker 5: only other Tier one reserve asset. That's the foundation from
- 2:39Speaker 5: which all of this springs. But the bottom line is,
- 2:42Speaker 5: since twenty seventeen and then the reclassification of gold in
- 2:45Speaker 5: twenty nineteen, the most well informed and most well financed
- 2:50Speaker 5: players in the world, the central banks, have been on
- 2:52Speaker 5: a buying spree.
- 2:53Speaker 2: That has not stopped and continues to this day.
- 2:57Speaker 5: And when you realize that that these players are always
- 3:01Speaker 5: well ahead of the curve, I think it should not
- 3:04Speaker 5: be underestimated whatsoever. So yes, it has been the central
- 3:08Speaker 5: bank buying unequivocally that has has kept the market to float.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Not just the central banks and in particular the bricks
- 3:17Speaker 5: nations China and India, and Russia. And you had a
- 3:20Speaker 5: clip in there with rich Check and he's a good
- 3:22Speaker 5: friend of mine, and I agree with what he said
- 3:24Speaker 5: about the retail side. I don't particularly agree with what
- 3:27Speaker 5: he said about silver, and I have my own take
- 3:30Speaker 5: on silver. But you look at China as an example.
- 3:32Speaker 5: They're the second largest producer of silver in the world,
- 3:35Speaker 5: and for the past year and a half they've been
- 3:37Speaker 5: flying all around Latin America in particular, really planting steaks
- 3:42Speaker 5: in Peru and buying up all of the dore and
- 3:45Speaker 5: concentrate from all the miners there. In other words, Dora
- 3:49Speaker 5: is a bar that is crudely fashioned, as they pull
- 3:51Speaker 5: the metal out of the ground before they send it
- 3:53Speaker 5: for further purification, you know, as they take all of
- 3:56Speaker 5: this stuff and they send it back to China, disintermediating
- 3:59Speaker 5: the market and refining it there. The second largest producer
- 4:03Speaker 5: of silver in the world is doing this. They're paying
- 4:05Speaker 5: double what the West will pay. You have Russia now,
- 4:08Speaker 5: who has made a public statement that they're adding it
- 4:11Speaker 5: to their national stockpile. In India, has purchased over nine
- 4:14Speaker 5: hundred million ounces of silver in the past four years.
- 4:18Speaker 5: There are reasons why the price hasn't gone up. We
- 4:20Speaker 5: can delve into that if you'd like, it will, But
- 4:23Speaker 5: as far as gold is concerned, absolutely there has been
- 4:26Speaker 5: one hundred percent. It has been the central bank buying,
- 4:29Speaker 5: and to me more significant the repatriation, the draining of
- 4:33Speaker 5: the world's exchanges. In other words, no, I don't want
- 4:35Speaker 5: to leave it there, give it to me. I want
- 4:37Speaker 5: to remove counterparty risk.
- 4:39Speaker 1: All right, So what you're saying is really kind of
- 4:42Speaker 1: mirroring what's going on in the S and P. If
- 4:44Speaker 1: you look right now, gold holding above the S and
- 4:47Speaker 1: P five hundred and this kind of number is surprising
- 4:51Speaker 1: to me because this is the last twenty years in
- 4:54Speaker 1: terms of that chart, that in essence is continuing to
- 4:57Speaker 1: hold gold that's at its all time high. And I
- 5:00Speaker 1: guess the real question is when you look at China,
- 5:03Speaker 1: who just sold some bitcoin right now this is a
- 5:06Speaker 1: little bit older, but they just sold some bitcoin, opting
- 5:08Speaker 1: into now buying more. Goal back to your point, central
- 5:11Speaker 1: bank's really focusing in with that along with what you
- 5:15Speaker 1: see right now in the trading activity. Let me kind
- 5:17Speaker 1: of expand that up a little bit because this is
- 5:20Speaker 1: my concern. China popped. This is China the Chinese gold
- 5:23Speaker 1: trading activity that exploded, but it retraced back down to
- 5:27Speaker 1: its normal levels. Do you think that was just the
- 5:29Speaker 1: initial push or do you think this is the beginning
- 5:32Speaker 1: of a trend.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's certainly maybe the escalation of a
- 5:36Speaker 5: trend that's been going on for quite some time underneath
- 5:39Speaker 5: the surface, you know, guys like you or the media, Paul.
- 5:43Speaker 5: The media does a pathetic job, in fact, no job
- 5:46Speaker 5: at all, of telling us what's really happened. Why would
- 5:48Speaker 5: no one in this country even understand that since twenty
- 5:51Speaker 5: nineteen their two tier one assets the US Treasury, which
- 5:54Speaker 5: has been the only Tier one asset as far as
- 5:56Speaker 5: central banks are concerned, since the end of World War Two.
- 5:59Speaker 5: But by the way, gold is there too now and
- 6:01Speaker 5: the central bank's buying it like it's going out of style.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Yet we don't hear about any of this, not only
- 6:07Speaker 5: the reclassification to put something on equal footing with the Treasury,
- 6:11Speaker 5: and or the massive accumulation and or the draining of
- 6:14Speaker 5: the exchanges. And I was working out in the club
- 6:17Speaker 5: the other day. I'm watching CNBC while I'm on the
- 6:19Speaker 5: elliptical machine, and gold's at all time highs, and I
- 6:22Speaker 5: watched the ticker underneath. It took forty seven spins to
- 6:27Speaker 5: see gold. From the first time to the next time
- 6:29Speaker 5: I saw bitcoin there nine times between those forty seven spins.
- 6:33Speaker 5: So they're focusing on things like bitcoin, they're focusing on
- 6:37Speaker 5: things like the mag seven.
- 6:39Speaker 2: They're focusing on all of these.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Things, while gold, at all time highs at over thirty
- 6:43Speaker 5: three hundred bucks yesterday is being ignored. Now is that
- 6:47Speaker 5: on purpose?
- 6:47Speaker 2: I don't know. From my perspective, it sure feels like
- 6:50Speaker 2: it is.
- 6:50Speaker 5: But yeah, I think this is a trend that has
- 6:52Speaker 5: been going on under the surface for quite some time.
- 6:56Speaker 5: And not only that, China buys far more gold, more
- 7:00Speaker 5: than anyone than they tell anyone. And this has been
- 7:03Speaker 5: going on forever since the beginning of my career. So
- 7:06Speaker 5: I would say those numbers are greatly understated. In fact,
- 7:09Speaker 5: someone I respect a lot, Alistair McLeod, two years ago
- 7:12Speaker 5: said he believed that they had thirty eight thousand metric tons,
- 7:16Speaker 5: then eighteen thousand by the people in twenty by the state.
- 7:20Speaker 5: That would be five times more than we supposedly have.
- 7:22Speaker 5: And we still have an audit at our gold. Trump
- 7:25Speaker 5: was talking about a couple of months ago.
- 7:27Speaker 1: It's interesting that we haven't heard anything more about that audit.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I mean, it kind of went dark a little bit,
- 7:33Speaker 1: so I'm not sure what the administration is talking about.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Back to your point, media, it is interesting to what
- 7:39Speaker 1: you're saying there, because when you look at how the
- 7:41Speaker 1: media seems to have a little bit of an affinity
- 7:44Speaker 1: toward crypto in general. I mean, listen, we're crypto tech,
- 7:47Speaker 1: but we also look at just aspts in general, which
- 7:50Speaker 1: is why we talk about gold and silver and other
- 7:53Speaker 1: things that are opportunistic here. But when you look at retail,
- 7:57Speaker 1: that's the question mark I think right now is obviously retail,
- 8:01Speaker 1: even though it may not have a big effect on
- 8:03Speaker 1: gold's current price, the question is does it hit the plateau.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I want to play a clip for you on retail
- 8:09Speaker 1: potentially selling gold.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Take a look. If they're not doing it, now, what
- 8:13Speaker 2: are they going to do it?
- 8:13Speaker 3: It's a commentary on how difficult it is for the
- 8:16Speaker 3: middle class out there right now. We have clients come
- 8:18Speaker 3: to us and they say, listen, I don't want to
- 8:21Speaker 3: sell my gold, but I have to. I got to
- 8:23Speaker 3: pay down a credit card debt. When folks need the money,
- 8:26Speaker 3: right they go to what's most liquid, and primarily that's
- 8:30Speaker 3: gold and silver, So they can't tap into their home
- 8:33Speaker 3: equity lines anymore.
- 8:34Speaker 1: You know, retail gold holders could be the weak link
- 8:37Speaker 1: in the potential rise of gold to four thousand. Do
- 8:41Speaker 1: you think that's going to have any impact at all?
- 8:42Speaker 1: Do you feel like the central banks and Nation States
- 8:45Speaker 1: are still going to be the driving force.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yeah, the retail public has very little of any effect
- 8:51Speaker 2: on it.
- 8:51Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, Look, my friend Rick Rule and I
- 8:53Speaker 5: were talking the other day and he said, Andy that
- 8:55Speaker 5: there's a one half of one percent allocation from Owen
- 9:00Speaker 5: Jane six Pack to the Harvard and Dowmond Fund in
- 9:02Speaker 5: terms of allocation to gold across the whole North American matrix.
- 9:07Speaker 5: So it's it's a speck and dust here. We're at
- 9:10Speaker 5: one half of one percent. The average over the past
- 9:13Speaker 5: forty years is two and a half percent. You just
- 9:15Speaker 5: go back to the average of two and a half
- 9:17Speaker 5: percent allocation, right, that's a fivefold increase in demand and bang.
- 9:22Speaker 5: I mean, there's nothing to get and that's the problem.
- 9:25Speaker 5: So now the retail public is nothing as far as
- 9:28Speaker 5: I'm concerned.
- 9:28Speaker 2: This is being driven at a.
- 9:30Speaker 5: Much much, much much higher level by the positioning of
- 9:33Speaker 5: the sovereign wealth funds and the central banks in my
- 9:36Speaker 5: mind almost entirely.
- 9:38Speaker 1: So this could be, you know, somewhat of a unison
- 9:41Speaker 1: move that could be happening right now from the idea
- 9:45Speaker 1: of where retail is versus where you know, nation states
- 9:48Speaker 1: and central banks are going, which could you know, continue
- 9:52Speaker 1: to drive gold higher. If you look at gen Z
- 9:54Speaker 1: investors right now, this is a chart off of a
- 9:57Speaker 1: recent report that was done and what they analyzed was
- 10:01Speaker 1: what was the likelihood of crypto and this is talking
- 10:04Speaker 1: about instead of a retirement account, and it still showed
- 10:07Speaker 1: that we were going to see cryptocurrencies. If you look
- 10:09Speaker 1: right there on gen Z forty two thirty six on
- 10:13Speaker 1: millennial everybody's up, with exception of gen X and baby boomers,
- 10:16Speaker 1: which continue to push in other areas. Obviously, still gen
- 10:20Speaker 1: Z trending up on cryptocurrency. So at some point, Andy,
- 10:24Speaker 1: we are going to see a large percentage of the
- 10:27Speaker 1: investing public shifting over to digital assets, and that could
- 10:30Speaker 1: be digital gold, it could be a lot of different cryptocurrencies.
- 10:33Speaker 1: We're starting to see a lot of that. Do you
- 10:35Speaker 1: think that that will have any impact on the trajectory
- 10:39Speaker 1: of gold?
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Late in the light of stable coins.
- 10:42Speaker 5: Certainly, it sure could, because now you give access to
- 10:48Speaker 5: the people who.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Probably weren't even thinking about it at all, which is
- 10:52Speaker 2: a shame.
- 10:52Speaker 5: And that's why you know, I speak at the XRP
- 10:55Speaker 5: conference in a panel that you'll be moderating. That's why
- 10:58Speaker 5: I'm a good friend with you know, with with Mark
- 11:02Speaker 5: Moss and Natalie Burnell and have them on my show
- 11:04Speaker 5: and go on their shows.
- 11:05Speaker 2: That's why I have tried to bridge the gap.
- 11:08Speaker 5: If you uncome on your show between the cryptocurrency community
- 11:13Speaker 5: and the and the gold community, the.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Message should be very similar.
- 11:17Speaker 5: We should we should not be confrontational, we should be
- 11:20Speaker 5: together in terms of I think in unison we're far stronger.
- 11:24Speaker 5: People's portfolios become stronger as well. So yeah, I could
- 11:29Speaker 5: see that happening certainly if that trend holds true.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Now that the key to this is to.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Make an ecosystem for a stable coin back by gold,
- 11:40Speaker 5: for example, very very transparent.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Where is it being stored, what form is it in?
- 11:46Speaker 2: Is it deliverable?
- 11:47Speaker 5: Those three things to me would legitimize a stable coin
- 11:51Speaker 5: back back by gold, And yeah, is it deliverable, where's
- 11:55Speaker 5: it being stored, who's storing it, and in what form
- 11:59Speaker 5: those things to me, I have yet, to my mind
- 12:01Speaker 5: sufficiently be addressed to attract my clients or even myself
- 12:07Speaker 5: who is open and has a little bit of cryptocurrency
- 12:10Speaker 5: open to that ideology.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I haven't seen it quite yet.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Well, we'll talk about bricks in a second, because they
- 12:15Speaker 1: are kind of discussing that very issue. But there's also
- 12:18Speaker 1: a handful of companies I'll mentioned in a few minutes
- 12:21Speaker 1: that might be transitioning into the idea of tokenized gold.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Before we go there, I want to get into terroriffs
- 12:28Speaker 1: for just a short bit. United States now generating about
- 12:31Speaker 1: twenty one bill in tariff revenue. First of all, do
- 12:34Speaker 1: you think the tariff impact? Obviously gold has benefited from
- 12:39Speaker 1: this tariff impact, because I think this is now a
- 12:41Speaker 1: flight to safety. People are looking at that and the
- 12:43Speaker 1: Dixie and then also some of the issues that we're
- 12:45Speaker 1: facing at the S and P. Five hundred. At some point,
- 12:49Speaker 1: this is going to settle down. At that point, when
- 12:52Speaker 1: it does settle down and we get some deals done,
- 12:54Speaker 1: do you feel like the shine will be off of
- 12:57Speaker 1: gold and we'll start to see movements backwards.
- 13:01Speaker 5: But I look at it from a standpoint of these
- 13:03Speaker 5: are the same countries, Paul, that are keeping our country
- 13:06Speaker 5: afloat by buying our treasuries using the dollar as a
- 13:08Speaker 5: global reserve. This keeps rates low, this keeps asset prices high,
- 13:12Speaker 5: this keeps goods cheap. So sharing the trade gap looks
- 13:16Speaker 5: ugly on paper, and I think, honestly, to me, enacting
- 13:21Speaker 5: these tariffs is the mistake. It is a mistake, and
- 13:25Speaker 5: it should be the carrot, not the stick. That's just
- 13:27Speaker 5: my own personal opinion. Well, I think you'll see it.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I think it was.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Jamie Diamond was on record not too long ago saying
- 13:33Speaker 1: the very same thing, and he was basically saying, hey, listen,
- 13:38Speaker 1: we are in a shift right now that could reset
- 13:41Speaker 1: the entire global monetary system. That was something he was
- 13:44Speaker 1: even more concerned about than even a possible recession. So
- 13:48Speaker 1: that's right, very very big point to what you're saying there.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Let's talk about tokenized commodities on the rise right now,
- 13:55Speaker 1: still continuing to rise up ethereum kind of the blockchain
- 13:57Speaker 1: of choice when it comes to token ized commodities, and
- 14:00Speaker 1: we are seeing more movement in this space. If you
- 14:04Speaker 1: look at an example right here of asset classes right
- 14:07Speaker 1: now on RBA still precious metals, Who do you think
- 14:11Speaker 1: is buying this? Is this still I mean, this is
- 14:14Speaker 1: outperforming everything precious metals. Then you get into agriculture and
- 14:18Speaker 1: then you know nothing. So who do you feel like
- 14:22Speaker 1: is buying gold, especially in the RBA side of things,
- 14:25Speaker 1: from an asset class performance.
- 14:27Speaker 2: It's a good question.
- 14:28Speaker 5: I don't know who is exactly buying it, but it
- 14:30Speaker 5: makes sense to me because you know a lot of
- 14:33Speaker 5: these other items that are tokenized. It's not like and
- 14:36Speaker 5: again I'm not as familiar with the tokenized products maybe
- 14:39Speaker 5: perhaps as you are, But if these products allow for delivery,
- 14:43Speaker 5: I can understand why people would want to do that. Yeah,
- 14:47Speaker 5: it's not like you can take delivery of easily of
- 14:49Speaker 5: farmland or of many of these tokensed assets, but you
- 14:52Speaker 5: can have precious metals. And you know, maybe there is
- 14:56Speaker 5: this awakening, maybe this line of thinking is starting to permeate,
- 14:59Speaker 5: that they're that the message that would drive someone into
- 15:05Speaker 5: cryptocurrencies or into precious metals in many respects is similar.
- 15:10Speaker 5: It's breaking away from the madness of our monetary policy,
- 15:13Speaker 5: the irresponsibility of our fiscal policy. So these things align,
- 15:18Speaker 5: and I think where things differ is that typically the
- 15:21Speaker 5: person in cryptocurrencies is focused on making a profit, and
- 15:24Speaker 5: the person who's interested in buying precious metals is not.
- 15:27Speaker 5: They're more concerned about what's coming and they're more concerned
- 15:30Speaker 5: about preservation.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Maybe this amount of unison or this parallel line of
- 15:40Speaker 2: thinking is starting to creep into the crystal space, which.
- 15:44Speaker 5: Would be amazing as far as I'm conturns what I've
- 15:46Speaker 5: been trying to do for a long time, and my
- 15:49Speaker 5: company will be making some unique announcements that you kind
- 15:53Speaker 5: of know about in the future very soon, in the
- 15:56Speaker 5: near future for us to continue to bridge these two
- 16:00Speaker 5: these two communities.
- 16:01Speaker 2: And I think it's very important.
- 16:02Speaker 5: I think it's vital that these two communities join together.
- 16:06Speaker 5: We are far stronger, our message is stronger, and what
- 16:08Speaker 5: we're all trying to achieve, I think is far stronger
- 16:12Speaker 5: if the crypto community and the hard asset community are
- 16:15Speaker 5: not mutually exclusive of one another.
- 16:17Speaker 1: But you know, totally, definitely to your point, I do
- 16:20Speaker 1: want to play a clip for you. This is the
- 16:22Speaker 1: CEO of Timan's. We've had him on the show a
- 16:24Speaker 1: couple of times. Very interesting guy, and he goes in
- 16:29Speaker 1: on the idea of tokenized commodities. But take a look
- 16:32Speaker 1: at this on physical to digital. Are you guys planning
- 16:36Speaker 1: that on doing anything like that?
- 16:37Speaker 6: I think when the show is out, we will already
- 16:41Speaker 6: have launched gold bars one ounce gold box and one
- 16:46Speaker 6: ounce is one NFT to get a certificate of ownership.
- 16:50Speaker 6: You can actually get access to the physical gold storage.
- 16:54Speaker 6: Fees are high normally, so we offer it free of charge.
- 16:58Speaker 6: So you connect your wallet, you bind it, and then
- 17:01Speaker 6: you can trade it, gifted, hold it whatever you do.
- 17:04Speaker 1: All right, so you can see, I mean there are
- 17:06Speaker 1: they're based out of Switzerland, but the point is they
- 17:08Speaker 1: launched that here, it's sold out. The potential of what
- 17:12Speaker 1: they're trying to roll out is very significant. I'll talk
- 17:15Speaker 1: about the blockchain in a second. Do you plan on
- 17:18Speaker 1: going in that direction anytime soon? For tokenized assets, especially commodities?
- 17:23Speaker 1: I know right now you can get all silver, gold,
- 17:26Speaker 1: platinum available on Miles Franklin anything in the hopper there.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Yes, I am the US contact for Glint. Jason Cousins,
- 17:35Speaker 5: the CEO of Glint, will be another person on the
- 17:38Speaker 5: panel that you and you are moderating, and Jason and
- 17:41Speaker 5: I have discussed this at length.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Now I'm not trying to say that this is going
- 17:47Speaker 2: to happen tomorrow.
- 17:47Speaker 5: But yes, this is something that we do have many
- 17:51Speaker 5: ideas behind and intentions and aspirations. And with the infrastructure
- 17:55Speaker 5: that Glint has, metal being held allocated in brings Switzerland,
- 18:02Speaker 5: and the tremendous technology that they have into their app,
- 18:07Speaker 5: and I find it to be elegant and exquisite actually,
- 18:12Speaker 5: so yes, we are thinking about it.
- 18:14Speaker 2: I've been in.
- 18:15Speaker 5: Something like this five years ago, six years ago when
- 18:20Speaker 5: I worked with the Royal Canadian Mint in a company
- 18:22Speaker 5: called trade Winds to roll out a digital form of
- 18:26Speaker 5: gold held by the Royal Canadian Mint on The mistake
- 18:30Speaker 5: they made was a private permission based blockchain system and
- 18:34Speaker 5: it wasn't allowed out into the ecosystem.
- 18:37Speaker 2: They did it wrong, and I told them that.
- 18:39Speaker 5: From the get go, you guys need to open it
- 18:42Speaker 5: up into the gen Z. You need to open it
- 18:45Speaker 5: up into all of the exchanges. They wouldn't do that.
- 18:48Speaker 2: So it seems that these folks have done something along
- 18:50Speaker 2: those lines. And that's just it.
- 18:52Speaker 5: If it's held in Switzerland, if it's held in one
- 18:54Speaker 5: ounce gold bars that are numbered and shown on an
- 18:58Speaker 5: NFT with the ability to take possession and held it
- 19:00Speaker 5: at a at a legitimate vault. Then yes, you have
- 19:03Speaker 5: stumbled onto something very legitimate. And these are the things
- 19:06Speaker 5: that I think we have in place right now. We
- 19:08Speaker 5: could naturally progress into a token I swarm of gold.
- 19:12Speaker 2: All right.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Well, one thing I would say, if you're, if any
- 19:15Speaker 1: planning to go that direction, it's important to say that
- 19:18Speaker 1: you know the connection to DeFi will probably be the
- 19:22Speaker 1: deciding factor, especially because of the use case of how
- 19:25Speaker 1: crypto and tokenized assets, especially on commodities can be used. Hey,
- 19:29Speaker 1: I want to jump over to bricks real quick. You
- 19:31Speaker 1: had some really good insights the last time we were
- 19:33Speaker 1: talking about bricks, and here's Putin saying relations with the
- 19:36Speaker 1: bricks countries cannot be stopped. So he obviously sees this
- 19:39Speaker 1: still as a very powerful position. This next tweet showed
- 19:44Speaker 1: that the bricks right now, principally Russia and China and
- 19:47Speaker 1: India are going to look at a counter on a
- 19:52Speaker 1: possible US backed stable coin, which we already know is
- 19:54Speaker 1: in the works, with a gold backed stable coin. What
- 19:58Speaker 1: are your thoughts on, first of all, bricks and their
- 20:00Speaker 1: current progress and if they get this off the ground,
- 20:05Speaker 1: a gold back stable coin.
- 20:07Speaker 5: I think it's huge and it wouldn't surprise me at all.
- 20:11Speaker 5: They've been the largest accumulators of gold in the world. Really,
- 20:15Speaker 5: you could argue they have an infrastructure in place already
- 20:18Speaker 5: for this to happen. Not only have they been the
- 20:21Speaker 5: largest accumulators of gold in the world, but they have
- 20:25Speaker 5: bridge technology that has already been I guess you could
- 20:29Speaker 5: say rolled out just recently.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Are you talking about the the Mbridge project.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Well, it's similar to Mbridge. You know.
- 20:37Speaker 5: The problem with Mbridge is that at the twelfth hour
- 20:42Speaker 5: last year the Bank of International Settlements pulled out of
- 20:45Speaker 5: Mbridge and embarrassed.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Them in front of the world.
- 20:47Speaker 5: And see was the BIS their innovation hub for four years,
- 20:53Speaker 5: helped develop mbridge technology, Chinese technology, China, Hong Kong, Thaighland,
- 20:58Speaker 5: United Arab Emirates developed it and at the very very
- 21:02Speaker 5: last minute after it was operational, the BIS and Augustas
- 21:06Speaker 5: Carson's the guy that runs.
- 21:07Speaker 2: And said, yeah, you know, we got to back out.
- 21:09Speaker 5: We're closing it down because we can't be involved with
- 21:12Speaker 5: any countries that are sanctioned by the West. It says
- 21:14Speaker 5: if Augustas just realized that Russia was the Iron Bricks
- 21:18Speaker 5: and they did this is what I think, which amounts
- 21:20Speaker 5: to espionage.
- 21:21Speaker 2: They knew exactly what they were doing.
- 21:23Speaker 5: So just the other day, the People's Bank of China
- 21:27Speaker 5: maybe last week announced its digital RMB cross border settlement
- 21:31Speaker 5: system and they connected it with ten ASA n It's
- 21:36Speaker 5: a sea and countries. These are all the countries in
- 21:39Speaker 5: Southeast Asia and six Middle Eastern nations. This is forty
- 21:43Speaker 5: percent of global GDP right now and it bypasses now
- 21:47Speaker 5: the Swift system. And this will be music to your ears,
- 21:51Speaker 5: and I'll just read it flat out. It says, in
- 21:53Speaker 5: practical chure, practical terms, China's digital currency bridge currency bridge
- 21:57Speaker 5: they're not calling an mbridge because of the BIS and
- 22:00Speaker 5: basically screwed them at the last minute, has significantly reduced
- 22:03Speaker 5: cross border payment processing times from the typical three to
- 22:06Speaker 5: five days associated with Swift to approximately seven seconds. And
- 22:10Speaker 5: so yes, they have the infrastructure in a place.
- 22:13Speaker 2: They have the gold, they're the ones that have been
- 22:15Speaker 2: buying it, ones have been.
- 22:16Speaker 5: Producing it, they have the now the bridge technology, they
- 22:20Speaker 5: have all of this stuff you need to do it.
- 22:24Speaker 5: And as far as I'm concerned, Look, Delma Rusov, the
- 22:28Speaker 5: former president of Brazil and the head of the new
- 22:30Speaker 5: Development Bank told us in January that they have agreed
- 22:33Speaker 5: in principle to a new settlement token called the Unit,
- 22:37Speaker 5: which was going to be traded over Mbridge. It's forty
- 22:39Speaker 5: percent gold backed and deliverable upon request by central and
- 22:43Speaker 5: commercial banks. So yes, they are going to do it,
- 22:46Speaker 5: and gold will be their de facto settlement currency, not
- 22:49Speaker 5: a unified currency for the bricks, but a unified settlement currency,
- 22:53Speaker 5: and gold will be pegged to it. Now they have
- 22:56Speaker 5: the ability to trade it instantly over the new bridge
- 23:00Speaker 5: technology bypassing swift.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I think it's it's in the cards for sure. Percent.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Well, one thing we're watching, of course, when you look
- 23:09Speaker 1: at a potential goalback stable coin is you know what
- 23:13Speaker 1: blockchain is it most likely in a land on. My
- 23:16Speaker 1: guess is it looks like it's probably going to be
- 23:18Speaker 1: Ethereum or some some fork of it. But back to
- 23:21Speaker 1: your point, we reported on what we saw within the
- 23:24Speaker 1: Asian countries kind of unifying around a possible you know,
- 23:27Speaker 1: cross border settlement. All this leaning into blockchain technology, which
- 23:31Speaker 1: obviously we talk about here on the show quite a
- 23:32Speaker 1: bit real Russia.
- 23:34Speaker 5: Paul, not to interrupt you, please give me just one second,
- 23:36Speaker 5: and that is don't forget these A Sea n countries.
- 23:40Speaker 5: Most of them have express interest in enjoining breaks. Many
- 23:44Speaker 5: of them are not. But this advancement is part of
- 23:47Speaker 5: China's broader strategy to bring together the Belt Road initiative.
- 23:52Speaker 5: You're talking seventy five percent of human population and fifty
- 23:55Speaker 5: five percent of global GDP right now, and all of
- 23:58Speaker 5: those countries fifty I don't know how many plus countries
- 24:03Speaker 5: they're not part of BRICKS. Now again, you unify all
- 24:06Speaker 5: of these countries under one type of new settlement system,
- 24:10Speaker 5: one type of infrastructure bypassing swift using gold. You see,
- 24:16Speaker 5: they think in terms of decades, we're thinking in terms
- 24:18Speaker 5: of seconds. They're playing four dhs, we're playing checkers. You
- 24:22Speaker 5: can see it doesn't have to just be bricks that's
- 24:25Speaker 5: the hub, but they have all of the periphery that
- 24:29Speaker 5: is aligned with Bricks's ideology that hasn't crossed over that
- 24:33Speaker 5: rubicon yet. But the Belt Road is a perfect example,
- 24:36Speaker 5: as are these ASEA and countries, the Southeast Asian countries
- 24:40Speaker 5: forty percent of global GDP that will choose their their
- 24:43Speaker 5: geographic partners.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I believe over the US and find safety in numbers.
- 24:48Speaker 2: That is the problem.
- 24:50Speaker 5: With what Trump is doing with tariffs, and his tariffs
- 24:53Speaker 5: to the brick stations are not tariffs, they're sanctions. If
- 24:57Speaker 5: you don't do this, Paul, I'm sanctioned you one hundred
- 24:59Speaker 5: and forty percent, or I'm tariffing you one hundred and
- 25:01Speaker 5: forty percent. No, that's not a tariff, that's a threat.
- 25:03Speaker 5: That's a sanction maskuera.
- 25:04Speaker 1: How long do you think that'll take Andy for that
- 25:07Speaker 1: to occur? I mean, if we really get unification, we
- 25:09Speaker 1: already see the technology is in place, it's moving at
- 25:12Speaker 1: light speed right now.
- 25:13Speaker 2: It's happening right now, the unification is happening. Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you got Russia coming in with two crypto exchanges
- 25:20Speaker 1: trying to site, you know, sideset these sanctions, which that's
- 25:24Speaker 1: another factor that plays into it. So how long what
- 25:28Speaker 1: do you think?
- 25:28Speaker 5: Well, here's the I think. I think it's happening faster
- 25:32Speaker 5: than people think. But the amount of information I think
- 25:35Speaker 5: has been cut off after what the BIS did. They
- 25:37Speaker 5: do not want to tell the West what they're up
- 25:40Speaker 5: to until they're already done with it. I don't know.
- 25:42Speaker 5: I think that you could see this happening, fat I
- 25:45Speaker 5: don't know by the end of this year. Early twenty
- 25:48Speaker 5: twenty six. I think without question we are moving in
- 25:52Speaker 5: that in that direction. And as a side note, you know,
- 25:56Speaker 5: Judy Shelton, who I interviewed, told me and she was
- 25:59Speaker 5: Trump's nominee for the head of the Federal Reserve in
- 26:02Speaker 5: twenty sixteen, said that on July fourth, twenty twenty six,
- 26:06Speaker 5: he will issue gold back treasuries fifty year gold back
- 26:09Speaker 5: treasuries to start, and then smaller duration thereafter with stable
- 26:13Speaker 5: coins attached to it. Judy told me this on my interview,
- 26:17Speaker 5: and I think the race to connect gold to a
- 26:21Speaker 5: new system is underway. That's why we've seen the United
- 26:24Speaker 5: States become net importer of gold since January or since November,
- 26:28Speaker 5: with over sixty million ounces of gold imported. There is
- 26:31Speaker 5: a race and an understanding. I believe that gold will
- 26:35Speaker 5: be tied to some new monetary order.
- 26:38Speaker 2: So who's going to win the race?
- 26:40Speaker 5: I think the race is accelerating and they know that
- 26:42Speaker 5: who's going to be the first one to say we win?
- 26:45Speaker 2: First to market I.
- 26:46Speaker 5: Think has significant impact on future future trends.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Well, speaking of first to market, and also, you know,
- 26:55Speaker 1: an anticipation of what we've been looking at in watching
- 26:59Speaker 1: you know, R TOBA is just in general when it
- 27:01Speaker 1: comes down to commodities. This is I want to play
- 27:03Speaker 1: a clip for you because this is the tm NS
- 27:04Speaker 1: guy again talking about where this potentially could run, how
- 27:09Speaker 1: a token I system could actually come to fruit. We
- 27:13Speaker 1: asked him specifically if it could run within the XRP ledger.
- 27:17Speaker 1: This is what he said, listen it which chain would
- 27:20Speaker 1: you choose?
- 27:20Speaker 6: What I can tell you is it won't be on
- 27:23Speaker 6: ethereum because they need a different settlement layer which is
- 27:29Speaker 6: much faster, offering a hybrid model between private and public disclosures.
- 27:35Speaker 6: They don't want to disclose all their transactions like it
- 27:37Speaker 6: is on a.
- 27:38Speaker 1: The blockchain out there. XRP ledger would be a good one.
- 27:42Speaker 2: You know.
- 27:43Speaker 1: You could go right there to it and oh I
- 27:47Speaker 1: like that. Okay, that's all I needed, all right, So
- 27:49Speaker 1: we kind of pinned him down of potentially going into
- 27:52Speaker 1: that in terms of what that might look like. With
- 27:56Speaker 1: that being the case, you look at this move by SBI,
- 27:59Speaker 1: one of the largest Japanese groups out there in Digital
- 28:02Speaker 1: Hub now acquiring defimens I guess and if you look
- 28:06Speaker 1: at some of the things that have been happening, these
- 28:08Speaker 1: are the validators over on the xrpl EVM all the
- 28:12Speaker 1: big guys typical that you you know, if you understand
- 28:15Speaker 1: the XRP l EVM, then if you look at this
- 28:19Speaker 1: one right here, which has been added right here, SBI
- 28:22Speaker 1: adds them as a validator. So again we're looking at
- 28:26Speaker 1: a potential here where we could see back to the
- 28:29Speaker 1: XRP ecosystem become very very involved with what could happen
- 28:34Speaker 1: in commodities, specifically precious metals. What are your thoughts about that?
- 28:38Speaker 1: Do you feel like this is maybe the connection to
- 28:42Speaker 1: crypto that everybody's been waiting for.
- 28:45Speaker 5: Yeah, it would be, especially if they make a delivery mechanism.
- 28:48Speaker 5: That's the key to it. The key is to be able.
- 28:51Speaker 5: It's not just to be able to trade, but it's
- 28:54Speaker 5: the ability to possess it. You know, they talk about
- 28:56Speaker 5: the ability to go cross border to do these things,
- 28:58Speaker 5: the freedom, the cry the rails that XRP does provide
- 29:03Speaker 5: for this type of thought. If you have crossed the
- 29:07Speaker 5: bridge and are able to then provide delivery, you've won
- 29:13Speaker 5: the game as far as I'm concerned. And XRP certainly
- 29:15Speaker 5: seems to have the infrastructure.
- 29:18Speaker 2: And the rails and the partners. If you're able to
- 29:22Speaker 2: pull that off, I think you win the game.
- 29:24Speaker 5: And I haven't seen anything other than XRP that would
- 29:27Speaker 5: even lead me to believe anyone's even trying to do
- 29:31Speaker 5: this the right way. They seem to be doing it
- 29:33Speaker 5: the right way.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean there are you know, there are
- 29:36Speaker 1: other organizations out there that have kind of gone in
- 29:38Speaker 1: this direction in terms of RWA's But the point really
- 29:42Speaker 1: boils down to yields, because I think that's where defy
- 29:45Speaker 1: the connectability of what we'll see, the interoperability of how
- 29:48Speaker 1: these ecosystems will work. You look at what securitizes doing
- 29:52Speaker 1: right here in Miami, and they even state it right here.
- 29:55Speaker 1: The ideas that we're going to we're going to go
- 29:56Speaker 1: live on the test now very soon then the main
- 29:58Speaker 1: net and the goal is to do that before the
- 30:01Speaker 1: end of Q two, which remember this is blackrock Ethereum
- 30:05Speaker 1: and arbitrum primarily. This could get very big, very quickly,
- 30:09Speaker 1: because we're going to see yields start to play out
- 30:11Speaker 1: within this with RWA, so this will be possibly obviously
- 30:16Speaker 1: we'll see token I securities, but we could see other
- 30:19Speaker 1: forms of this starting to go. It looks as though
- 30:22Speaker 1: the whole world Andy is about to shift monetarily to
- 30:26Speaker 1: a digitized platform. Back to your point, being able to
- 30:29Speaker 1: still deliver physical assets for these is going to be
- 30:33Speaker 1: important when it comes to go. If you look at
- 30:35Speaker 1: the key.
- 30:36Speaker 5: Paul, it's the key because it inspires, you know, the
- 30:40Speaker 5: immutability and the transparency of blockchain is beautiful and elegant.
- 30:46Speaker 5: But the final piece is, you know, show me how
- 30:49Speaker 5: I can possess it if I really want to. And
- 30:51Speaker 5: if you've done that, I think it's a game changer.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Listen, there is a lot brewing in the markets right
- 30:57Speaker 1: now around all of this. We will continue to cover
- 31:00Speaker 1: this for you guys, including the gold price, what's happening
- 31:02Speaker 1: with crypto obviously, what's going on with RBA is which
- 31:05Speaker 1: that seems to be an indicator right now of how
- 31:08Speaker 1: maybe the greater market could be moving. So Andy, great
- 31:11Speaker 1: to have you on the show today. Thank you so
- 31:13Speaker 1: much for stopping in.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Thanks for having me on.
- 31:15Speaker 5: I enjoy it, and I do think our two communities
- 31:18Speaker 5: need to do this more often.
- 31:21Speaker 2: So count me in anytime you have an open slot.
- 31:23Speaker 2: I'm here. I appreciate you having me on.
