- 2:43Speaker 2: more details. Again, those awards are based on the models
- 2:47Speaker 2: between twenty twenty two and twenty twenty four. What a mouthful?
- 2:50Speaker 2: A mouthful? What a mouthful? Mouth?
- 2:52Speaker 4: Is there anything else you want to say? Anything else
- 2:55Speaker 4: you want to saying in Colorado Week? It's Colorado Week,
- 2:59Speaker 4: you're so let me just call me just I'll be.
- 3:02Speaker 4: I'll do the shameless stuff. I'll do the shameless stuff
- 3:05Speaker 4: we've been due to call it action the last couple
- 3:07Speaker 4: of weeks about people who watched the show. More than
- 3:10Speaker 4: fifty percent of people that watched this show on YouTube, Rumble,
- 3:12Speaker 4: anywhere you can view us, they're not subscribed. Now, I
- 3:17Speaker 4: know it's ridiculous for a man to sit here and say, please,
- 3:20Speaker 4: for the love of God, just press the button that
- 3:22Speaker 4: says subscribe, so it now says subscribe. But here I
- 3:25Speaker 4: am sitting in front of you, a boy looking at
- 3:27Speaker 4: probably another boy. Because our demographic it was about ninety
- 3:30Speaker 4: eight percent men.
- 3:31Speaker 2: A lot for the boys.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Please, for the love of God, just hit the subscribe button.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Insrureman's trying to show me a picture in the back
- 3:37Speaker 4: that literally looks like a white piece paper to me,
- 3:38Speaker 4: what does that say?
- 3:39Speaker 2: Subscribe?
- 3:40Speaker 4: Subscribe? So please please please just press the button.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I'll tell you why. The shameless plugs you can, we can,
- 3:47Speaker 2: we can put them, we can take them off the pedestal.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Throw our own insecurities of asking people to submribe.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Yeah, because I feel weird doing it.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Last week we had Will Levis on and again if
- 3:56Speaker 2: you were if you were watching last week, we kind
- 3:58Speaker 2: of talked about the difference between not doing the called
- 4:00Speaker 2: action up front and then the week after. I believe
- 4:02Speaker 2: with our Rich Eysen we didn't, and then Sam Morrill
- 4:05Speaker 2: we did. With Will Levis. You would think Nashville our demo.
- 4:09Speaker 2: We've already squeezed every bit of juice out of that demo.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I want to say it was Sam Maurrill. It was
- 4:14Speaker 2: sitting at three seventy when we checked in after a
- 4:16Speaker 2: week which is a big week for subscribers, week with
- 4:18Speaker 2: Will Levis going through that the fifty percent of people
- 4:20Speaker 2: who are not subscribed. Last week with Will Levis one
- 4:23Speaker 2: thousand new subscribers. It's important we ask our fans to
- 4:30Speaker 2: support the boys because they don't know what they don't know.
- 4:33Speaker 4: They don't know what they don't know, And sometimes you're
- 4:34Speaker 4: just watching innocently being like I'm gonna go support the boys,
- 4:37Speaker 4: not knowing there's just one click of a button that
- 4:38Speaker 4: can make you support the boys that much more.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, Like, oh shit, maybe I'm not subscribed. Yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 2: help the fellas.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Oh you know what, you have been watching the show
- 4:44Speaker 4: for four years and I haven't been subscribed. Let me
- 4:46Speaker 4: just click the button right now, help the boys out.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Send this thing to the moon. Speak of gover the Moon.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Let's talk about Colordo, the Journey of will Compton. Since
- 4:56Speaker 4: we've been on this bus, Nebraska respect fully, has been abysmal.
- 5:01Speaker 4: They've been a terrible football program. They've gotten stomped down,
- 5:05Speaker 4: beat out, dragged through the mud of the Big Ten
- 5:08Speaker 4: for literally, I mean since twenty fifteen essentially, but really,
- 5:11Speaker 4: we started this podcast in twenty eighteen and my boy
- 5:13Speaker 4: has had not it had zero footing. He's a newborn deer, Bambi.
- 5:18Speaker 4: The first scene of Bambi trying to learn to walk
- 5:21Speaker 4: year in and year out as Nebraska gets their shit
- 5:24Speaker 4: pushed in by any team worth. They're salt over and
- 5:28Speaker 4: over and over and over and over and over and over.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Right, Hey, for the.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Love of God, the people in Nebraska, the only thing
- 5:37Speaker 4: they have going for them is three hundred and sixty
- 5:39Speaker 4: something consecutive sold out things where you just have a
- 5:42Speaker 4: fan base on life support that just can't catch a
- 5:45Speaker 4: dub versus a team that is not Division one Double A.
- 5:50Speaker 4: But last week two days ago, really and now, if
- 5:53Speaker 4: you're watching this three days ago, a young Dylan Reyola
- 5:57Speaker 4: gets on the field against a stout, stocky but stout UTEP.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Team Elevensers from Austin.
- 6:05Speaker 4: P and decides to throw the ball all over the yard,
- 6:09Speaker 4: showing that maybe this young man who literally looks up
- 6:12Speaker 4: to idolizes it and even looks like Patrick Mahomes might
- 6:16Speaker 4: actually be the second coming of Patrick Mahomes. So I
- 6:19Speaker 4: would like to have a moment of silence for the
- 6:23Speaker 4: shitty Nebraska because like a phoenix.
- 6:26Speaker 2: They are rebirthing to maybe a good program. I respect.
- 6:33Speaker 4: It's let's have a moment's ounce thank you Nebraska. Is
- 6:41Speaker 4: I think we got a good ball club in Lincoln.
- 6:43Speaker 4: We might I think we got a good ball club
- 6:45Speaker 4: and Lincoln the boys not only covered. They dominated day
- 6:49Speaker 4: in day out. They ran the ball well. They post
- 6:53Speaker 4: a line of scrimmage with their hogs, which if you
- 6:54Speaker 4: play CFB twenty five and you play against or with Nebraska,
- 6:57Speaker 4: you notice the offensive line. Their greats are really bad.
- 7:00Speaker 2: They don't That Michigan outfit just absolutely wrex.
- 7:05Speaker 4: But he's he's throwing it. The playmakers guys are going
- 7:08Speaker 4: up and getting it. This is out excited Will Confidence,
- 7:11Speaker 4: Will Confidence, so excited he goes, Tay, look at this
- 7:12Speaker 4: deep work. This is Saturday, we're in college. Station's about
- 7:15Speaker 4: to go to an m versus Notre Dame. He goes, hey,
- 7:17Speaker 4: look at this deep ball. Shows me they're in the
- 7:21Speaker 4: red zone. But still hyped up. Kid goes up, turns,
- 7:25Speaker 4: gets the ball, Rola puts it where only his receiver
- 7:28Speaker 4: can get it, comes down with it. The brass of
- 7:30Speaker 4: Cornhus is going a lot to be excited about. And
- 7:32Speaker 4: I'm fucking stoked for you, my boy. I am fired
- 7:35Speaker 4: up for you. And I had to get nasty for
- 7:37Speaker 4: a second because it's been bad. Now we can put it. Now,
- 7:39Speaker 4: we can put it to bed because we know, just
- 7:41Speaker 4: like in Harry Potter, the phoenix comes out after he
- 7:44Speaker 4: gets hit by the snake. One single tear drop comes in.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Harry Potter is now back up alive, and he ends
- 7:49Speaker 4: up taking down the man who should not be named.
- 7:51Speaker 4: I'm a name of anyone because we fear no man
- 7:52Speaker 4: on this podcast. Voldemort.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, dude, you know your boy is hype.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I'm insanely cautious because one, I feel like everybody, you know,
- 8:06Speaker 2: millions of people are tuned in what's Weill gonna say
- 8:08Speaker 2: about Nebraska, And I don't want us to drink the
- 8:11Speaker 2: kool aid because winning like that also has consequences. We
- 8:14Speaker 2: haven't tasted success in a long time. Yes, we tasted
- 8:17Speaker 2: good success, like things you can be optimistic about. But
- 8:20Speaker 2: again against a team like UTEP. However, in the past,
- 8:24Speaker 2: you're not Uh, Nebraska would not be executing in that
- 8:28Speaker 2: capacity against a team like UTEP like it would go
- 8:31Speaker 2: like I remember when we were at what was it
- 8:32Speaker 2: Georgia Southern a couple of years ago, and they took
- 8:35Speaker 2: us down to the fucking wire And you saw the
- 8:37Speaker 2: stat that popped up during the first quarter after we
- 8:40Speaker 2: came out and scored. We averaged two point three points
- 8:43Speaker 2: per game in the in the first course quarter. I
- 8:49Speaker 2: will say I'm very fired up, right, I'm optimistic right now.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I think Roola like even from something as simple as
- 8:55Speaker 2: a ton of walk. And again, I'm gonna sound ridiculous
- 8:57Speaker 2: even saying this, but you know, being a freshman kids eighteen,
- 9:01Speaker 2: nineteen years old and it's his first start, he's starting
- 9:05Speaker 2: as a true freshman, which hasn't been done. I think, well,
- 9:09Speaker 2: I think Adrian Martinez did that as well. But he's
- 9:11Speaker 2: coming out of the ton of walk.
- 9:12Speaker 4: And I want the very many Martinez is to come out.
- 9:14Speaker 2: I see him looking side to side and he's like
- 9:16Speaker 2: get He's like he's like flowing with the crowd, like
- 9:18Speaker 2: wanting them to get hype. And I just I know
- 9:20Speaker 2: when I was like whether I'm a rookie even playing,
- 9:24Speaker 2: being a veteran and you're going out and you're gonna
- 9:25Speaker 2: get a first opportunity to start and everything else. Like
- 9:28Speaker 2: the poise he seemed to have. It fired me up
- 9:32Speaker 2: to see the first drive and again he's throwing a
- 9:34Speaker 2: deep ball, very first deep ball. He threw a cat
- 9:37Speaker 2: that transferred from Texas. I'm Isaiah. I'm blowing his last
- 9:40Speaker 2: name right now, but he's probably should have came down
- 9:42Speaker 2: with it. And then Reola again trusts the same guy
- 9:45Speaker 2: throwing it to him, and throughout the game he's taking
- 9:47Speaker 2: shots and you're seeing players. You're seeing players go after
- 9:51Speaker 2: the ball to make plays, not just operate. Next cute
- 9:54Speaker 2: or if you have a bad drop or a turnover,
- 9:57Speaker 2: their head doesn't get down like they were driving in
- 9:59Speaker 2: the second or third driving. We fumbled like and we're
- 10:02Speaker 2: backed up ur we fumbled in our own ten yard line,
- 10:05Speaker 2: not our own but going into score right and even
- 10:07Speaker 2: from there we get a safety after that. But guys
- 10:10Speaker 2: just seem like they're playing fearless, which is good. And
- 10:12Speaker 2: again Utep was still fired up that head coach. I
- 10:16Speaker 2: swear to god he caught a full body cramp at
- 10:18Speaker 2: that later that night because he was insanely fired up
- 10:20Speaker 2: the entire time, right, but just seeing him push the
- 10:23Speaker 2: line of scrimmage, seeing him run through a motherfucker's face.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Four running backs touched the ball at least six times
- 10:29Speaker 2: on average over four yards of carriage. That's huge. The
- 10:31Speaker 2: d line was getting after it, we had a pick.
- 10:34Speaker 2: The Black Shirts were playing well, and again Dylan was
- 10:37Speaker 2: throwing deep. He wasn't nervous. You could tell he's not nervous.
- 10:39Speaker 2: He's gonna go back to throwing deep, he trusted his arm,
- 10:42Speaker 2: he took a shot in the mouth, helmet came off.
- 10:44Speaker 2: So I feel like those things are like it excites
- 10:47Speaker 2: you because again we'll have we'll be tested this week
- 10:51Speaker 2: against Colorado because Shadur and Travis Hunter and even Horn
- 10:54Speaker 2: and they have another receiver that's really good. Their defense
- 10:56Speaker 2: is vulnerable. But Colorado's gonna be and this is going
- 11:01Speaker 2: to be a massive game. It's going to be an
- 11:03Speaker 2: insane atmosphere. The guy at the super Bowl who interviewed
- 11:07Speaker 2: me is like, it's been however many days since what?
- 11:10Speaker 2: And he was like, since, uh, since Nebraska beat Colorado?
- 11:13Speaker 2: And it is a fucking long time. And just that
- 11:16Speaker 2: rivalry that's been there since the early days. It's it's
- 11:20Speaker 2: gonna be juicy, bro Like it's it's fucking war.
- 11:23Speaker 4: This is what I loved about Roola is you guys
- 11:26Speaker 4: go down. I believe it was the first drive you
- 11:27Speaker 4: score seven zero. Now the second drive that Nebraska has,
- 11:30Speaker 4: I don't know if it was a three and out,
- 11:31Speaker 4: but you did cross the fifty. It's a third and eight.
- 11:34Speaker 4: It's a longer third down. And Rayola goes and checks
- 11:37Speaker 4: down they show the replay show one of the wide
- 11:39Speaker 4: receivers got about seven yards of separation deep down the field.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Right when it was like there in short and fourth
- 11:44Speaker 2: and shortly converted, right, they didn't.
- 11:46Speaker 4: They ended up not converting on that. The reason why
- 11:49Speaker 4: I like that is you watch progression throughout the game
- 11:51Speaker 4: and you see him now taking shots. So even in
- 11:53Speaker 4: this sixty minutes of football, his first time playing at
- 11:56Speaker 4: a you know, a college football game, you're seeing growth
- 11:59Speaker 4: from the kid that he's like, he knows he's gonna
- 12:01Speaker 4: want that one back. Now those mistakes that we made
- 12:03Speaker 4: in that first quarter, boom, we're making him against Colorado,
- 12:07Speaker 4: which is a good, solid rivalry in college football, right, right,
- 12:10Speaker 4: So not only did he have a great game, but
- 12:12Speaker 4: there's a lot to learn from as well.
- 12:14Speaker 2: So he played perfect, right, which is exciting and like
- 12:16Speaker 2: just calming your mind down, like the self talk of
- 12:18Speaker 2: like yo, just just you know, open your eyes, see
- 12:20Speaker 2: the field, like there's one I have I miss, Like yeah, like,
- 12:23Speaker 2: don't get too narrow visions on everything. I just I
- 12:26Speaker 2: love seeing that. I think it's big for somebody like
- 12:28Speaker 2: Dylan who has all the expectation of the world coming
- 12:31Speaker 2: in and playing in front of you know, playing in
- 12:33Speaker 2: the state of Nebraska, Like you know, in our brain,
- 12:35Speaker 2: it's like he's gonna bring balance back to the force.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Right, So for this game, were you more excited about
- 12:43Speaker 4: the result of the game or the amount the crowd
- 12:47Speaker 4: got hyped up watching you on the big screen? Right
- 12:52Speaker 4: before the team runs out in front of what sixty
- 12:54Speaker 4: five thousand fans, sixty five thousand screaming Lincoln Nebraska fans
- 12:58Speaker 4: come on tventy five thousand screaming link in Nebraska fans,
- 13:02Speaker 4: eighty five thousand screamer ninety oka north of ninety thousands,
- 13:08Speaker 4: just under one hundred thousand screaming Nebraska fans are looking
- 13:12Speaker 4: at and they go, oh shit, is that Will Compton?
- 13:14Speaker 4: Oh man? And then the hype Get off your get
- 13:17Speaker 4: off your ass, get off your seat. We know he's
- 13:19Speaker 4: gonna spin it, all this stuff, and it seemed like
- 13:22Speaker 4: social media at least you watch a couple of those
- 13:25Speaker 4: replays of people recording on their phone, crowd went nuts
- 13:27Speaker 4: for you.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Well, was it better? Fire? It fired me up? Well,
- 13:30Speaker 2: the better feeling is listen, I want Nebraska to fucking
- 13:34Speaker 2: compete this year for real, and I think we can.
- 13:36Speaker 2: And again it's just like it's like you gotta you
- 13:40Speaker 2: gotta temper. I go through it literally every year, and
- 13:43Speaker 2: this year I feel different. I feel different now. I'm
- 13:46Speaker 2: trying to figure out how to kind of work with
- 13:48Speaker 2: that emotion. So I want the success of Nebraska always
- 13:50Speaker 2: over that. But getting to do the hype videos, Like
- 13:53Speaker 2: when they reached out and asked me to do the
- 13:55Speaker 2: hype videos, I was fired up. I'm nervous because you
- 13:58Speaker 2: want to, like you know, you want to you want
- 14:01Speaker 2: to entertain the fans, you want to get them fired up,
- 14:02Speaker 2: you want to get them going. But getting to do that,
- 14:05Speaker 2: bro is so sick to me because it's like it's
- 14:11Speaker 2: such a full circle moment, Like I got to play
- 14:15Speaker 2: with the end on my helmet. I love playing there
- 14:17Speaker 2: when I was there for my five years. It's one
- 14:19Speaker 2: of the best decisions I've ever made in my life.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Like obviously everybody knows my love for bo Polini and
- 14:24Speaker 2: the Huskers, like just even being a fan as I've
- 14:27Speaker 2: gotten older, But getting to do something like that and
- 14:30Speaker 2: then being like, hey, have your team shoot it, like
- 14:33Speaker 2: trusting us or like, uh, do whatever you want to do,
- 14:36Speaker 2: like it's up to you. You can You're the creative.
- 14:38Speaker 2: We won't we won't give you lines unless you want them.
- 14:41Speaker 2: They gave me the inspo from Christian Peter when that
- 14:44Speaker 2: dude was just an absolute psychopath back in the nineties,
- 14:46Speaker 2: and I was just gonna kind of build it off that.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But them giving us the freedom to create and getting
- 14:51Speaker 2: to play that right before kickoff, knowing it was like
- 14:55Speaker 2: it was welcomed and everybody was excited about it, and
- 14:58Speaker 2: again knowing that that's where I I played college ball,
- 15:01Speaker 2: and sitting here at what thirty four to thirty five
- 15:03Speaker 2: years old, like, it fires me up.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Thirty five and a couple of weeks, yeah, thirty weeks.
- 15:07Speaker 2: But it fires me up because I fucking played there
- 15:10Speaker 2: and I know I love the fucking university. Yeah. It's
- 15:13Speaker 2: one of those things where it's just like, it's one
- 15:16Speaker 2: of the coolest things I've gotten to do since playing there,
- 15:19Speaker 2: maybe the coolest. Yeah, especially for my university. And your
- 15:24Speaker 2: boy is I'm fired up? It was.
- 15:25Speaker 4: It was awesome to see. Oh, it was just as
- 15:28Speaker 4: your friend. It was cool to watch when you hit
- 15:30Speaker 4: me up and you're like, yo, they asked me to
- 15:31Speaker 4: do this, I thought that's awesome. Yeah, and then the
- 15:34Speaker 4: video I thought this is great, and then but you know,
- 15:37Speaker 4: you just don't know how it's going to be received.
- 15:39Speaker 4: I mean, people can be able to hear you very well.
- 15:41Speaker 4: It's a lot of stadium, but it seemed like the
- 15:43Speaker 4: whole stadium got juiced up by your words and your
- 15:47Speaker 4: body language. And I don't know if there's a better
- 15:49Speaker 4: feeling out there.
- 15:49Speaker 2: If it did, it fire me up because you're you're.
- 15:52Speaker 4: You're adding to the play, right, You're adding to the
- 15:54Speaker 4: play of the players, You're adding to the energy of
- 15:56Speaker 4: the crowd, the people that pile in every single week. Yeah,
- 16:00Speaker 4: being to god, this is finally gonna be the year
- 16:01Speaker 4: that changes, And damn it, it seems like it's changing.
- 16:05Speaker 2: When they're like, Yo, it's gonna go tunnel walk, the
- 16:07Speaker 2: band's gonna play, then your video and then kick off,
- 16:10Speaker 2: I'm like yo. They're then rule in another coach they
- 16:15Speaker 2: FaceTime me and he's just like, Yo, that video is
- 16:17Speaker 2: fucking awesome. I'm like, it just fires me up that
- 16:19Speaker 2: they love it, you know what I mean.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Yes, here's what I'll tell you about how I'm viewing
- 16:25Speaker 4: you right now and your body language towards the success
- 16:27Speaker 4: of Nebraska.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yeah, you should tell you like, I know, I want
- 16:32Speaker 2: to say we're gonna win it all.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Short form, let this bounce off the shoulders. I hate it.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Now we're gonna move on and we're gonna talk about it,
- 16:39Speaker 4: because how I've looked at you the last couple of
- 16:42Speaker 4: years is like the overconfident rookie who no one expects
- 16:46Speaker 4: a whole lot from. When it comes to supporting Nebraska,
- 16:48Speaker 4: you know it's an uphill battle. You know you don't
- 16:51Speaker 4: have the team, the turnover margin every single but no
- 16:53Speaker 4: matter what, will Compton the weekend and week out is
- 16:55Speaker 4: going to die for the end. And they say, hey,
- 16:57Speaker 4: we're gonna upset the world we play this team. Yeah,
- 17:00Speaker 4: we're an upset the world. When Utip comes in yep
- 17:02Speaker 4: to our stadium.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Time, you're gonna get their best, man, I'm like a fuck,
- 17:07Speaker 2: yeah right, I get going right, we gotta get going
- 17:09Speaker 2: on my he you know you're gonna get their best.
- 17:11Speaker 4: Now the rookie comes out plays well and people are like,
- 17:15Speaker 4: oh shit, this cat can play a little bit of ball.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Right now, now you're thinking, oh, I have to be humble.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I have to be I have to not be a
- 17:24Speaker 4: nasty boy. In the whole success thing. You had been
- 17:28Speaker 4: singing from the rooftops how Nebraska is the greatest program
- 17:32Speaker 4: when they've been dogshit, no disrespect. This is just the truth, right,
- 17:35Speaker 4: I'm not coming at you, I'm just talking to you.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Yeah, because I have now I can explain this.
- 17:39Speaker 4: Now we can look at ten and two as an
- 17:41Speaker 4: actual reality for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the twenty twenty
- 17:43Speaker 4: four season. I don't think the energy needs to change
- 17:46Speaker 4: at all. What got you here? What got you here? Compton?
- 17:49Speaker 4: It's the arrogance of saying Nebraska is maybe the best
- 17:53Speaker 4: three to nine team ever. Nebraska is. Hey, there's a
- 17:55Speaker 4: reason why Michigan won forty five seven, because you guys
- 17:57Speaker 4: cheat it. We would have actually won that game. All
- 17:59Speaker 4: the things that made you you as a Nebraska Cornersker fans,
- 18:03Speaker 4: shit can't change now.
- 18:05Speaker 2: You guys. So the reason I'm feeling different now is
- 18:12Speaker 2: because I actually think we have a solid product to
- 18:15Speaker 2: build on.
- 18:15Speaker 4: So everything else was a lot.
- 18:16Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, So not not that it's a lie.
- 18:20Speaker 2: It's like in the in recent years when you know,
- 18:23Speaker 2: we lost it historically statistically best three win team of
- 18:27Speaker 2: all time, like going in going through those things, it's
- 18:31Speaker 2: like no one believes that we're gonna win, not even
- 18:33Speaker 2: Nebraska fans, right, like, especially when you're calling for frost Head, Like,
- 18:37Speaker 2: I'm never gonna be the guy that's like calling for
- 18:38Speaker 2: somebody's said, because no matter what, I want to back
- 18:41Speaker 2: the boys. So I always want to be the optimism
- 18:44Speaker 2: with a little bit of hope. If fans are down
- 18:46Speaker 2: and out, like how can I make them lie? How
- 18:48Speaker 2: can I just be the fucking guy that'll take whatever
- 18:51Speaker 2: bullet to make us believe that we can win this game?
- 18:54Speaker 2: Because you know that the locker rooms down like who
- 18:56Speaker 2: knows what kind of clips they see and all that stuff,
- 18:58Speaker 2: Like why you gotta have some who believes in you
- 19:00Speaker 2: because everybody else doesn't. And I know how low you
- 19:04Speaker 2: can get mentally in that place when you're not playing well.
- 19:07Speaker 2: So it's like I'm gonna take a different spin and
- 19:09Speaker 2: just be fucking I'm gonna be about it every week
- 19:11Speaker 2: and try to give some some kind of juice or urgency,
- 19:14Speaker 2: some type of faith to the fans. Maybe if a
- 19:16Speaker 2: player comes across the clip some type of something, and
- 19:19Speaker 2: now I feel like we potentially have a product and
- 19:22Speaker 2: everybody's gonna be patting us on the ass and everybody's
- 19:24Speaker 2: gonna be drinking the kool aid and knowing that it's
- 19:27Speaker 2: you don't want those You don't want those guys. You
- 19:29Speaker 2: don't want everybody being overly arrogant because you got something
- 19:33Speaker 2: right now, Like, don't believe the hype, don't buy the
- 19:35Speaker 2: hype because we actually have a solid product right now.
- 19:38Speaker 2: So I don't want to continue to just be some
- 19:41Speaker 2: overly I'm gonna be optimistic, like I do believe we
- 19:44Speaker 2: can be a ten and two football team. And I
- 19:46Speaker 2: know how it sounds before the season. Now that we've
- 19:48Speaker 2: went through week one, it's like, oh, Nebraska could be
- 19:50Speaker 2: kind of nice in right, and our schedule is very favorable.
- 19:53Speaker 2: You watch UCLA play, you watch wiscontemplates like, okay, you
- 19:57Speaker 2: can I mean, we can actually do this. We don't
- 19:59Speaker 2: play organ But so my approach is a little different,
- 20:03Speaker 2: just because I feel like we bust with the boys myself,
- 20:06Speaker 2: we've a massed even more audience like the Nebraska Like
- 20:09Speaker 2: I feel a little synonymous with how Nebraska could potentially do.
- 20:12Speaker 2: That could be that's like what's that called main character syndrome.
- 20:15Speaker 2: So whoever's watching, I just I don't want us to
- 20:18Speaker 2: fucking go all in and drink this kool aid and
- 20:20Speaker 2: be a little overly arrogant, like do I think we
- 20:22Speaker 2: can whoop Colorado's ass? Absolutely, but we got to go
- 20:25Speaker 2: in with the level of like composure of hey, respect
- 20:29Speaker 2: the game, respect the team you're about to play against.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Trust me, we can beat the ass. But don't sit
- 20:33Speaker 2: here just because you win forty to seven and Dylan
- 20:37Speaker 2: kind of plays a little bit, it's like, yo, we're
- 20:38Speaker 2: fucking back, YadA, YadA. Every part of me wants to
- 20:41Speaker 2: scream that, just based on the past, but also you
- 20:44Speaker 2: being a player, it's like you gotta come in like, hey,
- 20:48Speaker 2: fu fuck all the noise outside of here. We have
- 20:50Speaker 2: to take care of business because you can run all
- 20:52Speaker 2: the clips. Hey guy, we can run the fucking ball.
- 20:55Speaker 2: We can throw it deep, we can throw it, we
- 20:56Speaker 2: can throw it wherever. We can play defense. We can
- 20:59Speaker 2: pick people off off We got beat on a deep
- 21:01Speaker 2: route when Utep scored that first one against somebody who.
- 21:03Speaker 4: Was yeah, five play drive and they just they kept
- 21:06Speaker 4: it right.
- 21:06Speaker 2: We can move the line of scrimmage. We lean on
- 21:08Speaker 2: guys here on the duo, like, don't start to drink
- 21:10Speaker 2: your own kool aid and start to get a little
- 21:12Speaker 2: arrogant with your play, like I just want its head down, bro,
- 21:15Speaker 2: because I know we can do it right, Like I
- 21:18Speaker 2: know we can go. So that's why my approach is
- 21:20Speaker 2: kind of what it is, because again it's like we win,
- 21:24Speaker 2: they all love us right now, but don't believe who
- 21:27Speaker 2: the world we're winning a national title compared to the
- 21:30Speaker 2: way everybody's talking, you know what I mean. No, but
- 21:34Speaker 2: I feel like you kind of know what I'm saying, right,
- 21:35Speaker 2: I know what you're saying in the past, like I knew, like, okay,
- 21:38Speaker 2: if we don't beat whether it's Rutgers or some team
- 21:41Speaker 2: that you just think the logo should be able to
- 21:44Speaker 2: beat this team. And it's like, all right, everybody's kind
- 21:46Speaker 2: of down right now no matter what. So my spin
- 21:49Speaker 2: was always whether I'm going in the pants or whether
- 21:50Speaker 2: I'm doing something, it's like I'm gonna be a cat
- 21:53Speaker 2: that is for the boys and talk about why we
- 21:55Speaker 2: potentially lost and what plays we might have missed out there,
- 21:58Speaker 2: because ultimately, when you're fumbling a fuck ton and turn
- 22:01Speaker 2: the ball over like that gets to a player like
- 22:03Speaker 2: in their psyche, and so I it's like I just
- 22:05Speaker 2: want to be the guy that's like, you know, not
- 22:08Speaker 2: buy into that bullshit, so that way, it doesn't creep
- 22:10Speaker 2: in that way. And now I'm kind of the same
- 22:11Speaker 2: way here. I feel like you win the opener like that.
- 22:14Speaker 2: And when we got when we got this, we got
- 22:15Speaker 2: that you know as a player, bro, like, don't fucking
- 22:18Speaker 2: buy that hype. You got a tough and this is
- 22:20Speaker 2: this week is the one, like there's a lot, yeah,
- 22:23Speaker 2: and this is a lot of This is a lot
- 22:25Speaker 2: like you know between Nebraska and Colorado, Like there's a
- 22:28Speaker 2: lot on the fucking line this week. And I just
- 22:30Speaker 2: want such a tempered like slow burn because we all
- 22:34Speaker 2: know we want to beat the ship out of this team.
- 22:35Speaker 2: We all know we want to beat the shit out
- 22:37Speaker 2: of these boys. But again, I'm not gonna sit there
- 22:39Speaker 2: and talk like hey, the Rollies the ship like that,
- 22:42Speaker 2: like trust me, I want to but again I want
- 22:45Speaker 2: I want to have a I want to have a
- 22:47Speaker 2: confidence moving into this thing with the respect to the
- 22:50Speaker 2: other outfit. That's that's my explanation. That's kind of my
- 22:53Speaker 2: strategy behind why I seem a little different right now.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Can't tell you something, Yeah, you beat you tip, Like
- 23:00Speaker 4: there's not going to be a lull this week. In
- 23:02Speaker 4: playing Colorado, just out the way you framed it. Yeah,
- 23:07Speaker 4: Colorado disrespected Nebraska last year. Colorado. Sorry, yes, Colorado dis
- 23:11Speaker 4: disrespected Nebraska last year. You guys might have a product,
- 23:15Speaker 4: but you beat you tip we exactly we you go
- 23:19Speaker 4: in and beat the shit out of Colorado. Then we
- 23:22Speaker 4: can have this conversation next week, going into week three
- 23:25Speaker 4: of the college football season. Yeah, right now, those boys,
- 23:29Speaker 4: I'm sure rules in a team meeting doing the same
- 23:31Speaker 4: thing you're just talking about. Boys. You see, we can
- 23:33Speaker 4: do the combos. You see, we can throw the ball here,
- 23:35Speaker 4: we the running backs, all you guys averaging over four
- 23:38Speaker 4: yards to carry, all of you touched it more than
- 23:39Speaker 4: six times. We'll see. We can do it. Now do
- 23:42Speaker 4: it this week. Now you have the same success you
- 23:44Speaker 4: did against youutip against Colorado Thendn't we sit here next
- 23:46Speaker 4: week and say, listen, we don't sleep on anybody. Ball
- 23:49Speaker 4: blah ball, the coach talk everything.
- 23:51Speaker 2: But right now is you saying you want the other animal.
- 23:55Speaker 4: This is Ohio State Michigan, This is Yankees versus Red Sox,
- 23:59Speaker 4: this is Alabama versus Auburn. For you guys, there is
- 24:03Speaker 4: no sleeping on anyone. The disrespect that happened in Boulder
- 24:07Speaker 4: last year to Nebraska. You think them boys don't remember,
- 24:10Speaker 4: You think Matt Rule doesn't remember those types of things.
- 24:13Speaker 2: They remember.
- 24:14Speaker 4: The same guy that says if we die, we die,
- 24:16Speaker 4: you need to worry about putting on your best cheerleader
- 24:20Speaker 4: off it. No disrespecting that, truly like being the number
- 24:23Speaker 4: one Nebraska fan saying we are going to pulp fiction
- 24:26Speaker 4: these guys. Put the gag ball in their mouth, bend
- 24:28Speaker 4: them over, and hope to God they go out. The
- 24:29Speaker 4: sword doesn't come down the basement and take us out,
- 24:32Speaker 4: because we are going to fuck these boys up and
- 24:34Speaker 4: down the field for sixty minutes. That it's the path
- 24:37Speaker 4: you gotta take. Once we do those things, once we've
- 24:40Speaker 4: now taken them boys, bent them over, barrel, show them
- 24:42Speaker 4: the fifty states. Then next week, roll in the next game, boys,
- 24:45Speaker 4: depper expectations here all right now, people are giving you
- 24:48Speaker 4: the best because they know you're a real football team.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Because next week after you guys beat Colorado, you're a
- 24:52Speaker 4: top twenty five football team in college football. Now there's
- 24:56Speaker 4: no more sleep.
- 24:56Speaker 2: You're speaking in a lot of absolutely there.
- 24:58Speaker 4: I'm saying because you got to as a fan, I don't.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I think I'm I'm positioned right where I need to be.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I think I am right where I need to fucking be.
- 25:06Speaker 2: And everybody who, everybody who out there listened, that's the
- 25:08Speaker 2: Nebraska fans. Another hype videos coming. I'm trust me, I'm
- 25:12Speaker 2: where I feel. I feel good about where I'm at,
- 25:15Speaker 2: and I just as giddy and as excited as I am.
- 25:18Speaker 2: It's not like I just want to sit here and
- 25:22Speaker 2: I can't just buy. I can't buy all that stock
- 25:24Speaker 2: right now. The stock has already been bought. But I
- 25:26Speaker 2: just don't want everybody. I don't want everybody patting these
- 25:29Speaker 2: motherfuckers on the back way too hard. I don't want
- 25:31Speaker 2: them to listen. I know they listen to the boys. Poison,
- 25:33Speaker 2: Yeah it's rat poison. I know they listen to the boys.
- 25:35Speaker 2: I want to be I want to be that steady
- 25:37Speaker 2: fucking piece because, trust me, though some of those lines
- 25:39Speaker 2: you were dropping, I love them. Ben Over show the
- 25:41Speaker 2: fifty States. Gag ball in the mouth in due time.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Right, what's your heart rate at right now?
- 25:46Speaker 2: Eighty nine? Oh? Just sitting I'm juice. I'm fucking the
- 25:50Speaker 2: high blood pressure ready because we're about to have the
- 25:52Speaker 2: greatest weekend of our lives, of our lives, there's no
- 25:55Speaker 2: question about it, because we got let's talk about the trip.
- 25:57Speaker 2: So here's what we got going on this weekend. The Boys,
- 26:00Speaker 2: we treat ourselves once a year. I say once a year,
- 26:03Speaker 2: like this is our second time. Yeah, yeah, once a
- 26:07Speaker 2: year started last year. The Boys are gonna treat ourselves.
- 26:10Speaker 2: We're gonna get a private We're gonna fly private. We're
- 26:12Speaker 2: flying from Nashville to Michigan, Texas for the early game.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I think that kickoff is at noon, and then we're
- 26:19Speaker 2: gonna fly from Michigan into a Lincoln, Nebraska, get a
- 26:23Speaker 2: little get chauff it up to the stadium, and we're
- 26:26Speaker 2: gonna get to experience both headlining two headlining games this weekend,
- 26:30Speaker 2: Michigan Texas, which I want to hear your thoughts on
- 26:34Speaker 2: Michigan from week one. Obviously they got a big dog
- 26:38Speaker 2: in Texas who won like fifty five to nothing. Yeah right,
- 26:42Speaker 2: and then getting to go and experience Memorial Stadium like again,
- 26:45Speaker 2: you know, I'm fucking I'm on cloud now. I can't wait.
- 26:48Speaker 4: It's all the greatest think you talked about Memorial Stadium
- 26:50Speaker 4: and how like amplified it is I hope I'm finally
- 26:52Speaker 4: gonna see that because last year, right, it wasn't the case.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Right, Right, You're dead after the second series Again, I'm
- 26:58Speaker 2: with you. I think we had a whole different crowd.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Yeah, it's gonna be it's gonna it has the potential
- 27:04Speaker 4: to be the greatest day of our lives and possibly
- 27:06Speaker 4: the worst day of our lives. And we're thinking about
- 27:08Speaker 4: the negatives.
- 27:10Speaker 2: I'm nervous about the first game. I'm nervous about Michigan's understandable.
- 27:14Speaker 4: It's a massive game. It's two teams that were top
- 27:17Speaker 4: five in college football last year. And listen, we can
- 27:21Speaker 4: sit here and Michigan fans could be bitching and moaning
- 27:24Speaker 4: about all the things that happened in that game. You
- 27:26Speaker 4: guys don't remember Bowling Green last year. JJ McCarthy throwing
- 27:30Speaker 4: three picks. They couldn't run the ball at all. They
- 27:32Speaker 4: you know, our defense played well. Our defense played well
- 27:35Speaker 4: in that game. But Bowling Green, who was a Fristoe State,
- 27:38Speaker 4: is a superior team to Bowling Green, and Michigan didn't
- 27:42Speaker 4: have the best showing. Yeah, five new offensive linemen there.
- 27:44Speaker 4: One guy who played a little bit last year ends
- 27:46Speaker 4: up getting hurt five new offensive lineman trying to figure
- 27:49Speaker 4: out how to gel Donovan Edwards. Here is the thing
- 27:52Speaker 4: that you were kind of talking about that I kind
- 27:53Speaker 4: of saw when I was watching the film. After the
- 27:56Speaker 4: text A and M game and also during the Texas
- 27:59Speaker 4: A and M game, is they came out like their
- 28:01Speaker 4: shit didn't stink. National champs were this where that the
- 28:05Speaker 4: fans are all excited, We're gonna roll over these boys
- 28:08Speaker 4: and go to Texas. I think this is a perfect
- 28:10Speaker 4: situation for Michigan to be in, kind of being humbled,
- 28:13Speaker 4: having a team that is no disrespect, just beneath you
- 28:18Speaker 4: as far as talent goes, as far as coaching goes,
- 28:19Speaker 4: as far as program goes. They're they're they're beneath you.
- 28:23Speaker 4: They punched you in the mouth a little bit. The
- 28:25Speaker 4: quarterback had some success through in some deep balls. Will Johnson,
- 28:28Speaker 4: highest rayed player on CPP twenty five, ends up having
- 28:31Speaker 4: an eighty six yard pick six to really get these
- 28:33Speaker 4: boys within, you know, one to two points of covering
- 28:35Speaker 4: the spread. Now, I know Searon Moore is sitting there
- 28:40Speaker 4: with those boys and saying, listen, we all know this
- 28:42Speaker 4: wasn't good enough. You gotta look at the offensive line
- 28:44Speaker 4: and say, have some fucking pride in what you're doing. Yeah,
- 28:47Speaker 4: four years ago, three years ago, you guys were two
- 28:49Speaker 4: times Joe Moore Award winning offensive line. Those same guys
- 28:53Speaker 4: aren't in this room anymore. If you think you're just
- 28:55Speaker 4: gonna walk on the field of mo guys down, that's
- 28:57Speaker 4: not the case. We gotta take a little bit of pride.
- 28:59Speaker 2: And what we're doing.
- 29:00Speaker 4: When we have the block M, we're representing the block M.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Now you have a great Texas football team coming in.
- 29:05Speaker 4: We were in Austin for spring tour last year. Them
- 29:08Speaker 4: boys are solid. It's a great program. People are saying
- 29:11Speaker 4: they're gonna be in the playoffs. Michigan people are kind
- 29:14Speaker 4: of They lost eighteen guys to the draft, some guys
- 29:17Speaker 4: for the Transerportal. They brought some guys in. There's some
- 29:19Speaker 4: gelling that needs to happen. Now you can see them
- 29:22Speaker 4: do better and better. The line started to move boys
- 29:24Speaker 4: around towards the third and the fourth quarter. They started
- 29:26Speaker 4: to hit that pop, started to get that juice. Donovan Edwards,
- 29:30Speaker 4: I'm happy he didn't have a great game. I'm happy
- 29:33Speaker 4: that he was. You know, had six carries averaging zero
- 29:36Speaker 4: point three yards of carry in the first half of
- 29:39Speaker 4: that game. Because now you've got a pissed off Michigan
- 29:42Speaker 4: team going against a great Texas football team who just
- 29:46Speaker 4: mowed down the Colorado State State Rams. Now we're gonna
- 29:51Speaker 4: sit here and a lot of people are gonna be
- 29:53Speaker 4: picking Texas over and over and over again.
- 29:55Speaker 2: I'm saying I think the line went from like three
- 29:58Speaker 2: and a half to the six and off it's at
- 30:00Speaker 2: six and a half six.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Check it right before we got on the bus. So
- 30:03Speaker 4: we see where this this narrative is going. Last year,
- 30:07Speaker 4: against the teams that Michigan played and should have covered
- 30:09Speaker 4: with those big spreads, they never covered. That was Jack
- 30:11Speaker 4: McPherson's big shot at me the entire season is that
- 30:15Speaker 4: they don't cover. Good teams cover, great teams cover. We
- 30:17Speaker 4: didn't do that. We ended up winning. I will say this,
- 30:21Speaker 4: we had a dogfight at twelve pm Eastern and ann Arbor, Michigan.
- 30:25Speaker 4: There's no question about it. But I'm taking my boys
- 30:27Speaker 4: all day. We got a dogfight. I will say I'm
- 30:30Speaker 4: not a huge fan of doing the two quarterback thing.
- 30:34Speaker 4: I've never really seen it work out in the past.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Talk to me about because obviously we were at So
- 30:39Speaker 2: for everybody that knows, like Taylor, the boys somehow had
- 30:42Speaker 2: some decent enough service to watch on YouTube TV. Like
- 30:45Speaker 2: while we're in kind of like that, while we're at
- 30:47Speaker 2: the A and M Notre Dame game, Taylor's like in
- 30:50Speaker 2: his phone watching that game. So I'm obviously getting consumed
- 30:53Speaker 2: by the A and M Notre Dame game. What was
- 30:55Speaker 2: happening with the two quarterback thing? Like how often were
- 30:57Speaker 2: they switching around? Like was it situational?
- 30:59Speaker 4: Alex last year played a handful of snaps in every
- 31:02Speaker 4: single game, but it definitely seemed like, you know, the
- 31:05Speaker 4: third and shorts, the obvious running situations they put Alex
- 31:07Speaker 4: Orgy and they were in the RPO. Davis comes in.
- 31:10Speaker 2: I think he starting series, you know what I mean,
- 31:13Speaker 2: Like Davis was starting.
- 31:14Speaker 4: Davis was starting, but you saw more and more Orgy
- 31:17Speaker 4: as like the game would go on. So they're in
- 31:19Speaker 4: this conflicted area of using a dual threat quarterback and
- 31:22Speaker 4: a traditional pocket passer. Davis. This kid can he can
- 31:26Speaker 4: throw it. He was throwing the short game, he's throwing
- 31:28Speaker 4: the medium game. I think he was off a touch
- 31:30Speaker 4: on the on the long game. But then we're talking
- 31:32Speaker 4: about fingertip off the touch. Some things that are easily fixable.
- 31:35Speaker 4: I'm not a quarterback. I think he can go in
- 31:38Speaker 4: there and be I guess well. I think the office
- 31:40Speaker 4: line did a great job protecting throughout the day. It's
- 31:42Speaker 4: about the push, It's about punching him in the mouth
- 31:45Speaker 4: because the pro the success we had last year was
- 31:49Speaker 4: running the ball, getting those safeties to come up and
- 31:51Speaker 4: hitting the deep shots. Just good traditional Big ten football
- 31:55Speaker 4: through and through. Now this year you have younger guys.
- 31:58Speaker 4: You have a bunch of cats that need to learn
- 31:59Speaker 4: how to jel the other. I need to do it
- 32:00Speaker 4: in a hurry because you got Texas coming. But I
- 32:02Speaker 4: think the boys are gonna handle business.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Good for the money line, Good for the money there goes,
- 32:08Speaker 2: good for Michigan. Speaking of money line, speaking of a
- 32:12Speaker 2: great money line played by you, the Vanderbilt com Commodore's Commodorees. Sorry, boys,
- 32:20Speaker 2: that's no disrespect. Yeah, the Vanderbilt Commodorees. Yeah you went
- 32:24Speaker 2: money line on that game. Yeah.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what, man, I don't know why we
- 32:29Speaker 4: went and did the Duke Cannon thing. And the boys
- 32:31Speaker 4: were talking confident.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Very confident, very common, which again I walked away like,
- 32:35Speaker 2: all right, fellas like, yeah, sure thing, sure, but watching
- 32:38Speaker 2: that game against Virginia Tech, and by the way, Virginia
- 32:40Speaker 2: Tech people that was selling that and I was starting
- 32:42Speaker 2: to buy it a little bit, like, oh yeah, maybe
- 32:44Speaker 2: Virginia Tech would be nice this year. Like that program
- 32:46Speaker 2: is a fucking disaster. I mean, come on, you're Virginia Tech, bro,
- 32:53Speaker 2: and you got a schedule like you have this year.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Like people were talking like you could win the ACC.
- 32:58Speaker 2: You ain't winning nothing this year. Miami's gonna win the ACC,
- 33:01Speaker 2: no question. But Vanderbilt Bro, and that quarterback number two,
- 33:06Speaker 2: Diego Diego was just it just seemed like a gamer
- 33:09Speaker 2: Bro puff Pavali.
- 33:12Speaker 4: What the what the hell, it's not Pavali, it's not Pavali,
- 33:15Speaker 4: it's not I.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Mean, sure, a little gamer bro scrambling around. And I
- 33:19Speaker 2: love how he just gets backyard like he's just got
- 33:21Speaker 2: a guy to the left right of him that he
- 33:23Speaker 2: could just throw with the.
- 33:24Speaker 4: Game on the line. Yeah, here's the thing I like
- 33:26Speaker 4: about Diego. He's so overly confident in his abilities that
- 33:32Speaker 4: I think he truly is like Johnny Manziel. He goes
- 33:35Speaker 4: out there and he just doesn't look at the playbook.
- 33:37Speaker 4: Probably probably doesn't watch film, just thinks I'm gonna I'm
- 33:39Speaker 4: gonna body bag these cats, and it's fucking paying off
- 33:42Speaker 4: for him and might go down later and when he
- 33:44Speaker 4: get the SEC schedule and all that where it really
- 33:46Speaker 4: comes crashing down and burning. But what he was doing
- 33:49Speaker 4: with Virginia Tech defense played fired up and he was
- 33:53Speaker 4: throwing the ball over the yard through a great fade
- 33:55Speaker 4: in the back of the end zone to start the
- 33:57Speaker 4: game off. Kid was running around everywhere Lorna show. They're
- 34:00Speaker 4: putting his right shoulder into cats, like Will Levis first
- 34:02Speaker 4: the Miami Dolphins last year. The kid he's arrogant, Yeah,
- 34:07Speaker 4: he's cocky, and then he believes himself. And sometimes college
- 34:10Speaker 4: football that's all you need.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that is all you need. You need guys bought
- 34:14Speaker 2: in overtime and playing inspired because those dudes were Those
- 34:19Speaker 2: dudes were licking out there. I was about to say
- 34:23Speaker 2: laying some pipe, but that would have been kind.
- 34:24Speaker 4: Of There's been a lot of ye things, especially what
- 34:27Speaker 4: I tien.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Boys were out there kissing motherfucker's dude and being fired
- 34:30Speaker 2: up about it, you know what I mean, Like you
- 34:31Speaker 2: can just tell like when a team is special. Teams,
- 34:34Speaker 2: you know, all three units just playing their ass off,
- 34:37Speaker 2: and you can tell they were fired up playing and
- 34:39Speaker 2: gets five eight. Yeah shot on Vanderbilt.
- 34:42Speaker 4: Yes, he and dude, he's a full back playing quarterback
- 34:46Speaker 4: where you can put a little touch on the ball.
- 34:48Speaker 4: He can put it in the right place at the
- 34:49Speaker 4: right time. Took care of it crazy enough because he
- 34:52Speaker 4: was so loose with it the whole time. Gotta make
- 34:56Speaker 4: gotta make the balls a little nervous.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Another program to potentially just blow up Florida Gators. Oh
- 35:03Speaker 2: they're done.
- 35:05Speaker 4: You see the kid with a snapchat? Fuck this team?
- 35:08Speaker 2: Yes, bro, like that is Oh that's old?
- 35:12Speaker 4: Oh is it okay? Still?
- 35:13Speaker 2: Thank god?
- 35:14Speaker 4: Because I'm thinking, like, you lose the team in August,
- 35:17Speaker 4: you're in a tough spot.
- 35:18Speaker 2: You see who was a big number seventy? They throw
- 35:20Speaker 2: a pick. I think in the third or fourth he
- 35:22Speaker 2: was walking like yeah, yeah, yeah. You hate to see
- 35:25Speaker 2: ship like that.
- 35:26Speaker 5: I love to see it the Florida Gators.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Right, yeah, yeah, that's true, that is true. But Miami,
- 35:31Speaker 2: I think Florida's done. Set the goddamn tone. Cam Ward
- 35:36Speaker 2: looks like the real fucking deal. I mean even the
- 35:38Speaker 2: first quarter, I think he ran for a first down
- 35:40Speaker 2: and kind of like stopped and walked out of bounds
- 35:44Speaker 2: like after he got the first down. Like the dude
- 35:46Speaker 2: just has seems like he just has supreme confidence.
- 35:49Speaker 4: Yeah, and he looks good.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Bro. He had one where he escaped the pocket throws
- 35:53Speaker 2: across his body to the back of the end zone.
- 35:56Speaker 2: I mean, cam Ward looks like the fucking real deal.
- 35:59Speaker 4: Dude in the Miami football team going in going in
- 36:02Speaker 4: the tunnel, looking at all the Florida GATD recruits, going, man,
- 36:04Speaker 4: fuck this place, come.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Here, don't go in, come here, don't go here.
- 36:07Speaker 4: We run Florida. It's like, if you're the recruiting coordinator
- 36:10Speaker 4: for Florida, you need to once the game's over, I'll
- 36:13Speaker 4: sher those kids out as fast as possible. Yeah, but
- 36:15Speaker 4: I hope you guys enjoy. Let's get out here and
- 36:17Speaker 4: the girl hole in the corner get out of here,
- 36:19Speaker 4: quit it, get out. It's like, stop it, Like, what
- 36:23Speaker 4: do you think is gonna happen?
- 36:24Speaker 2: Yeah? What do you think out Miami? I do think
- 36:27Speaker 2: college football is so much more fun when they're just
- 36:30Speaker 2: swagged out like that. Yes, bro, yeah, no nonsense.
- 36:33Speaker 4: College football is in a good place right now.
- 36:35Speaker 6: If you're Florida you gotta beginning of that game, you're
- 36:38Speaker 6: getting hype. They have Javan cursed to freak out doing
- 36:41Speaker 6: the middle of the field hype. Shit, Tim Tebow's in attendance. God,
- 36:46Speaker 6: and you just get slaughtered.
- 36:49Speaker 2: I want to say that there was a there's a
- 36:51Speaker 2: quote saying that they boosted more noise at practice than
- 36:55Speaker 2: they heard it at the swamp. Like you wasn't that loud.
- 36:58Speaker 1: That's tough.
- 36:59Speaker 4: That's a tough look. But this is this is a
- 37:01Speaker 4: great week one of college football. Is such a great
- 37:03Speaker 4: week because you get I mean, both the guys you
- 37:05Speaker 4: said are no longer in the league when we were
- 37:07Speaker 4: at A and M like Von Miller was there, Johnny
- 37:09Speaker 4: Manzel was there, who's not in the league either. But
- 37:11Speaker 4: there's a lot of guys who are able to go
- 37:14Speaker 4: take away from their NFL careers, go back to the
- 37:16Speaker 4: old stomping grounds. Being there. It's just awesome, man, It's
- 37:20Speaker 4: a it's a great time because that's when you get
- 37:21Speaker 4: the crowd just pumped up. This guy from this school,
- 37:24Speaker 4: you know, but he did this when he was at
- 37:25Speaker 4: the school. It's just cool shit, yeah, cool shit.
- 37:28Speaker 2: It was a great It was a great first week.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Miami has a like twenty eight year old tight end.
- 37:33Speaker 6: He's in his ninth year.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Yeah, ninth year, caught a touchdown? Insane, he had like
- 37:39Speaker 2: seven injuries COVID. Nobody knows that type of shit. Man,
- 37:42Speaker 2: it's the coach.
- 37:42Speaker 4: It's crazy, man. You see these kids are like twenty five.
- 37:45Speaker 4: If you're outside of BYU didn't.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Make any sense, right, nine years is awesome? Yeah, wild, Yeah,
- 37:53Speaker 2: just a grown man out there.
- 37:54Speaker 4: Playing, yeah with eighteen year old boys.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Who else? What other what other games were had? Then
- 38:00Speaker 2: the game we.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Were at was was outstanding. I mean it was a defensive,
- 38:03Speaker 4: a struggle through and through. The boys were idiots by
- 38:06Speaker 4: betting the over on that.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but you can't bet the under when you're live
- 38:10Speaker 2: at a football game.
- 38:11Speaker 4: Right, And so we did the midnight yell, I take
- 38:15Speaker 4: C and M. A lot of people saying it's a cult.
- 38:17Speaker 4: A lot of people agreed it was a cult. All
- 38:19Speaker 4: the fans that were walking in the stadium said, yeah,
- 38:21Speaker 4: it's a cult. People like it's weird, it's awkward. Don't
- 38:24Speaker 4: make us look too bad. It's not as weird as
- 38:27Speaker 4: people made it out to be. It's still different, it's
- 38:30Speaker 4: still different.
- 38:32Speaker 2: But it's gay. It just wasn't that gay.
- 38:34Speaker 4: Yeah, the the it's a PEP rally. It's a PEP
- 38:37Speaker 4: rally of forty thousand people. And we talked about this
- 38:40Speaker 4: in the vlog that'll come out, Like, I think there's
- 38:42Speaker 4: a way better way for them to utilize that time
- 38:45Speaker 4: at midnight to get the fans juiced up other than
- 38:48Speaker 4: just doing their.
- 38:50Speaker 2: I mean, they're they're hitting that shit during time outs
- 38:53Speaker 2: in the second half of the game, like that whole
- 38:55Speaker 2: stadium is bought into that.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:56Speaker 2: I think that's what I love too about it is. Yeah,
- 38:59Speaker 2: it's a little weird, but it wasn't that weird. And
- 39:02Speaker 2: it was more like they just embraced their quirky little
- 39:06Speaker 2: college football traditions. When you got forty fifty thousand people
- 39:09Speaker 2: showing up at fucking midnight.
- 39:12Speaker 4: Nuts at midnight, bro half half in the bag, all
- 39:14Speaker 4: of them are tanks, and.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Everybody in the other is kind of teaching the the
- 39:18Speaker 2: lower is it the younger classmen, underclass underclass underclass.
- 39:22Speaker 4: Freshman at the top and juniors and yeah, yeah.
- 39:24Speaker 2: And everybody's just trying to figure out like you know, hey,
- 39:27Speaker 2: this is what we're gonna do this part of the game, YadA, YadA,
- 39:30Speaker 2: but I'm with you. It's like you could strategize. You
- 39:32Speaker 2: to me, you got to get somebody better on the
- 39:33Speaker 2: mic rock than these people, because this dude's just like, yeah,
- 39:36Speaker 2: down a little story. That's the issue.
- 39:40Speaker 5: That's why it's weird. Because it's SEC football and there's
- 39:44Speaker 5: no cheerleaders.
- 39:45Speaker 2: That is weird.
- 39:46Speaker 5: And the main thing, the main thing, Yeah, it's like,
- 39:49Speaker 5: at least have some girls out there doing some tumbling,
- 39:52Speaker 5: you know, shaking it around, shaking that, and then there's
- 39:55Speaker 5: then you see that, you see it happen, You're like,
- 39:57Speaker 5: maybe it's not that weird.
- 39:59Speaker 4: No, I just think if you use that time, because
- 40:02Speaker 4: I think if we all all of our schools had
- 40:03Speaker 4: like a midnight pep rally, we get fired up on it,
- 40:07Speaker 4: we would have a good time with that because then
- 40:09Speaker 4: in the game they could strategize, Hey, when the other
- 40:12Speaker 4: team scores, this is what we're going to chance. When
- 40:14Speaker 4: we scored, this is what we're going to chance until
- 40:16Speaker 4: kickoff happens. If everybody's on has a game plan going in,
- 40:20Speaker 4: it just makes the experience for the fans that much better.
- 40:22Speaker 4: The ones that don't make it of you know, the
- 40:24Speaker 4: rest of the fan bases, the all dude thing, a
- 40:29Speaker 4: bit of a deal. A bit of a deal could
- 40:32Speaker 4: definitely out there. It was one of those things too.
- 40:34Speaker 2: It's like you heard of rumors that they turned the
- 40:36Speaker 2: light off, turn the lights off and they make out.
- 40:38Speaker 2: We did hear that they did that. After we left
- 40:40Speaker 2: I heard that. They're like, oh, no, that happened. I
- 40:42Speaker 2: was like, when, yeah, we love the five minutes. Yeah,
- 40:45Speaker 2: they're like, oh, I think towards the end because you know,
- 40:48Speaker 2: you think you're going to see some actual weird type shit,
- 40:50Speaker 2: but it really was just like a glorified just a religit.
- 40:53Speaker 4: I thought I was gonna make a cult ish it's
- 40:55Speaker 4: really just pep rally on st.
- 40:58Speaker 2: I love that all the students were like, oh, it's
- 41:00Speaker 2: like kind of chuckling about it and like, yeah, it
- 41:02Speaker 2: is a cult.
- 41:03Speaker 4: I don't like this. The lake Kick hit that thing,
- 41:07Speaker 4: the lake Kicks. I don't mind the arm over the thing,
- 41:10Speaker 4: but the lake Kick to me was.
- 41:12Speaker 5: I didn't like the bens over zesty thing.
- 41:15Speaker 4: That was a zesty movement.
- 41:19Speaker 5: Like instructing the chance. Everyone's like down on their knees
- 41:22Speaker 5: like arch march back, and.
- 41:25Speaker 4: I'm like, it's a little aggressive. The more you talk
- 41:28Speaker 4: about the weirder it gets. But I think the experience
- 41:30Speaker 4: we had it wasn't. I think it was made out
- 41:33Speaker 4: to be something that it actually wasn't.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Yeah, the people of College Station two are a rock solid,
- 41:38Speaker 5: really nice.
- 41:39Speaker 4: Yes, the dude we on the on the sidelines, Hey
- 41:41Speaker 4: you need water, you need get it ready, you need this.
- 41:43Speaker 2: That was the easy one, guyund you walk around the
- 41:47Speaker 2: entire field time no matter what.
- 41:49Speaker 5: We didn't get stopped. No one told us, hey, you
- 41:51Speaker 5: can't be in this section.
- 41:52Speaker 2: As long as you got that pass on everybody, you're
- 41:53Speaker 2: kind of free to go wherever you want to know.
- 41:55Speaker 4: That is awesome. Man, big pops for Manziel, But I
- 41:58Speaker 4: think Vaughn Vaughn had a big pop, big pop for.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Von What were your thoughts on College Station as a
- 42:04Speaker 2: as a football talent, as a college football town.
- 42:08Speaker 4: I love the stadium, I love the in game atmosphere.
- 42:12Speaker 4: I think they're just it's a well organized bunch that
- 42:15Speaker 4: we just went over with the midnight yell. It's loud,
- 42:18Speaker 4: the cannon scary, but awesome. Yeah. When they kicked the
- 42:22Speaker 4: first field goal, we were standing around there. The shockwave
- 42:25Speaker 4: was nuts. Uh, dude. The music that DJ was killing it.
- 42:29Speaker 2: I love that.
- 42:30Speaker 4: Here's what I'll say about the town itself. Town itself
- 42:34Speaker 4: is Communist Russia. There's not And I'm not talking about
- 42:38Speaker 4: the people. I'm just talking about the buildings itself, and
- 42:40Speaker 4: like all kind of like Manila colored buildings. Everything looks
- 42:45Speaker 4: the same. It's fan bills. Yeah, with the Doctor Pepper commercials.
- 42:48Speaker 4: It's kind of just I didn't I didn't like love
- 42:53Speaker 4: the landscape I was looking at. I love the fact
- 42:56Speaker 4: that the airport, Colle Station airport's right there. I thought
- 42:59Speaker 4: the Dixie Chicken was awesome. The Champions pizza we went
- 43:02Speaker 4: to time was great. I think the people there are unbelievable.
- 43:06Speaker 4: The campus, Like, if we're just talking about beauty of
- 43:08Speaker 4: a campus, it's at the bottom of my list.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, beauty of a campus, for sure.
- 43:12Speaker 4: It's going no, no, no, no no. I probably wouldn't have
- 43:17Speaker 4: I probably would not have gone there. I would definitely
- 43:20Speaker 4: not have gone. You said that a couple of times.
- 43:23Speaker 4: I thought, all.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Right, just got kind of this small town vibe. You know,
- 43:26Speaker 2: they love their ball out there.
- 43:27Speaker 4: But there's a lot of small town and small town
- 43:30Speaker 4: I mean Lincoln, Lincoln small town. Yeah, And I just
- 43:34Speaker 4: I don't know you don't need to get a better
- 43:36Speaker 4: look at as Nebraska's Nebraska's because it's kind of like
- 43:39Speaker 4: a city, is right, it's kind of in the city
- 43:42Speaker 4: that's the capital. Yeah, it is a city, but yeah,
- 43:46Speaker 4: that would I don't think I would go to A
- 43:47Speaker 4: and M. I wouldn't go to an M. I love
- 43:49Speaker 4: the fan base. I think the fan base goes so hard.
- 43:52Speaker 4: I just think of myself January February, March there, and
- 43:57Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, what are we gonna do tonight? Boys?
- 44:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I can see that, you know, because you what,
- 44:03Speaker 2: Houston's what two hours away? Yeah?
- 44:05Speaker 4: It's like, yeah, how far is Austin?
- 44:10Speaker 5: I think they're all like two hours?
- 44:12Speaker 4: It was like okay, yeah, so all far away, all
- 44:17Speaker 4: far away? Oh, driving like that in college on an
- 44:20Speaker 4: eighty six, kind of like Deveal pro White, no power
- 44:25Speaker 4: breaks or power steering. So I wasn't getting very far.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Should we interrupt this episode to bring you Game Time?
- 44:32Speaker 4: We absolutely should, Dude.

- 45:39Speaker 4: But this weekend is gonna be unbelievable. Man, I really
- 45:41Speaker 4: I cannot wait. I cannot wait for this game. The
- 45:44Speaker 4: atmosphere at both places are gonna be elite. It's gonna
- 45:47Speaker 4: be such a good time. Barcols College Football Show is
- 45:50Speaker 4: gonna be an in our breath.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Yeah, that's gonna be electric.
- 45:52Speaker 4: That'll be fun, man, that'll be fun.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Did you see uh O's went to U, A and M.
- 45:58Speaker 2: You saw that? You saw tricks?
- 45:59Speaker 4: Yes?
- 46:00Speaker 1: I did.
- 46:00Speaker 4: The one in the shoe is fucking He just continues
- 46:03Speaker 4: to outdo himself. And because I saw the stuff he
- 46:06Speaker 4: did with us, I'm like, I don't know how you
- 46:07Speaker 4: top any of that. And the queen in his shoe
- 46:10Speaker 4: signed carry on the back. Yes, bro, he doesn't miss.
- 46:14Speaker 2: And he really doesn't in that quarterback. Did you see
- 46:17Speaker 2: the clip? Did you say this?
- 46:18Speaker 4: It's like, brother, I get it. He's probably uncomfortable because
- 46:21Speaker 4: magic is being put on him. There's there's this, there's
- 46:24Speaker 4: like there's a feeling about magic is not cool. Magic
- 46:27Speaker 4: is cool. If you're if you don't think magic is cool,
- 46:30Speaker 4: you're wrong. And so he's probably sit in front of
- 46:33Speaker 4: the boys Egos boosted games coming up right around the corner.
- 46:36Speaker 2: Egos boosted that dude thinks he is him. Yeah, well
- 46:40Speaker 2: hell no, give my shoe bag, Give my shoe bag. Nah, bro.
- 46:44Speaker 2: I mean if I would have saw that, I would
- 46:45Speaker 2: have been like, okay, you know, because Texas doesn't have uh,
- 46:48Speaker 2: just a sports betting I would have had to hit
- 46:50Speaker 2: somebody up, like put everything on Notre dame money line.
- 46:54Speaker 2: I'm dead ass serious, bro, Like, you.
- 46:57Speaker 4: Know, it's like, hell, it's good to have it's good
- 47:00Speaker 4: to have confidence, it's good to feel your.
- 47:04Speaker 2: Shut that ship down, yeah, immediately quarterback, bro, Like, I
- 47:08Speaker 2: don't mind some swag, but you know when you're trying
- 47:10Speaker 2: too hard about something, you know you're white. Yeah, he's
- 47:13Speaker 2: trying way too well, at.
- 47:14Speaker 7: Least from Cyprus Sexes, which has a ton of money
- 47:17Speaker 7: in it.
- 47:20Speaker 4: So we have Texas version of Malibu's Must Wanted Yes,
- 47:24Speaker 4: God tough.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Look, Tom's just saying, bro, like, there's it's like we're
- 47:30Speaker 2: obviously trying to talk our way through this thing. But
- 47:32Speaker 2: you know it, you know what I mean, you can
- 47:35Speaker 2: feel it, Yes, you know it when you see it.
- 47:37Speaker 2: And that's one of the It was one of those
- 47:39Speaker 2: things where it's like, come on, bro, you're trying way
- 47:41Speaker 2: too fucking hard here. Yeah, have a little kid when
- 47:43Speaker 2: you got some swag about you and everything else. Again,
- 47:46Speaker 2: you know it when you see it, right, But that
- 47:48Speaker 2: just shows lack of confidence. He doesn't have confidence in himself,
- 47:51Speaker 2: so he's got to act a certain way. If you
- 47:53Speaker 2: actually have confidence, you're up there, your mind's blone, you're
- 47:55Speaker 2: running out the door, you're having fun with it.
- 47:56Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like, come on, man.
- 47:58Speaker 2: And that's why Texas A and M I don't think. Well,
- 48:01Speaker 2: I know they had high hopes. I was rooting for him.
- 48:02Speaker 2: I think they got a great defense. But that offense
- 48:04Speaker 2: ain't gonna do a whole lot.
- 48:05Speaker 4: I feel like every time we talk negatively about it
- 48:07Speaker 4: and then we have to say we had a great
- 48:08Speaker 4: time and people were.
- 48:09Speaker 2: We did, we did shout people unreal it was.
- 48:12Speaker 4: It was all unreal. I just they don't they don't
- 48:14Speaker 4: have they don't have the program this year.
- 48:16Speaker 2: People people also listen to us for realness, trying to
- 48:19Speaker 2: keep it a being with you guys.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Man, all right, all right, say something.
- 48:25Speaker 1: They're white.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Stop that came.
- 48:29Speaker 4: From Vanderbilt to that off it's a lineman he is.
- 48:31Speaker 4: He's always talking like that. I'm like, bro, where are
- 48:33Speaker 4: you from Florida. It's like, no, you're from Florida. That's
- 48:37Speaker 4: where you're from. Just relax and talk normal. It's all
- 48:40Speaker 4: good because I know, you know, he doesn't go home
- 48:42Speaker 4: see his grandparents. What's up, grandma, what's how we don't.
- 48:45Speaker 4: It's like, no, no, no, no, stop, no, he does not know,
- 48:49Speaker 4: he does. I'm racist towards the other the way this,
- 48:56Speaker 4: you know, I don't need to say anymore because I'm
- 48:58Speaker 4: gonna dig myself a hole.
- 49:00Speaker 2: You did great, you did great.
- 49:02Speaker 4: But if I say more, yeah, yeah.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Well it's staying on, staying on the topic. You saw
- 49:06Speaker 2: Roddy White. You saw Roddy White over the weekend. He
- 49:09Speaker 2: had a he had a tweet that was kind of
- 49:10Speaker 2: going a little viral. You're talking about he was watching
- 49:12Speaker 2: Can you bring up the tweets?
- 49:15Speaker 4: I didn't see it, oh kool aid Man, Matt Rule.
- 49:18Speaker 2: But the paraphrase a little bit. It was like he's
- 49:20Speaker 2: watching Clemson play and he says, they got too many
- 49:23Speaker 2: white boys out they got too many white guys out
- 49:25Speaker 2: there on offense, and people were going after him calling
- 49:27Speaker 2: him race is calling him this. So I had to
- 49:29Speaker 2: take a stand and say I do stand with Roddy White.
- 49:32Speaker 2: You got too many white boys out there. This is
- 49:33Speaker 2: a different era. Like you can have a decent, solid squad,
- 49:37Speaker 2: yes it's called Iowa, but to win a national title,
- 49:40Speaker 2: you can't have too many white boys out there.
- 49:42Speaker 4: And here's the deal. Are white guys making a comeback?
- 49:45Speaker 2: Are white guys making a.
- 49:47Speaker 4: White guys are making a comeback in the sports world.
- 49:49Speaker 4: That's a fact.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Like, can you put together an impressive all white squad? Yeah,
- 49:53Speaker 2: because we're literally choosing the best players we possibly.
- 49:56Speaker 4: Can possibly can't.
- 49:57Speaker 2: But when you're just when you're a program like Clemson
- 49:59Speaker 2: and you and you're in uh, you're in South Carolina
- 50:02Speaker 2: trying to compete with the best, here it is. He says,
- 50:05Speaker 2: Clemson got way too many white dudes on the field
- 50:07Speaker 2: on offense. This ain't them. You mean to tell me
- 50:09Speaker 2: you only got one black dude out there making plays?
- 50:11Speaker 2: That's a recruiting problem. I couldn't agree more with.
- 50:13Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, Roddy White, he seems like he's just spitting
- 50:15Speaker 4: bars out there. And like I said, white guys are
- 50:18Speaker 4: making it come back in the sports world. All right,
- 50:20Speaker 4: ten to fifteen years from now, we might have some
- 50:22Speaker 4: legit white athletes out there right now twenty twenty four
- 50:26Speaker 4: not the case.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Yeah, we get it.
- 50:28Speaker 4: We saw Cooper Degen. Christian McCaffrey holds a flag for
- 50:30Speaker 4: all of us. They're out there, trust me. But there
- 50:34Speaker 4: it's a rare species.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, you just can't.
- 50:37Speaker 4: You can't just pack them full of whites.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and again you you've been in the locker rooms,
- 50:41Speaker 2: like you just know it. You know, if there's too
- 50:43Speaker 2: many of you out there, you're like, all right, you know,
- 50:45Speaker 2: we could be decent this year, but we ain't gonna
- 50:47Speaker 2: win the whole team.
- 50:48Speaker 4: Yeah, not a lot of ems out here, boys, but there.
- 50:50Speaker 2: You can't have me's that's the whole thing. You can't
- 50:52Speaker 2: have mes. You can't have me And then he then
- 50:55Speaker 2: he ends up tweeting like after it's kind of going
- 50:56Speaker 2: a little viral, He's like, I'm getting a lot of
- 50:58Speaker 2: blowback for too many white players, and I apologize if
- 51:00Speaker 2: someone thought I was being racist, which everybody around me
- 51:02Speaker 2: knows I'm not. I looked out there and and ten
- 51:05Speaker 2: of the eleven players are white. I can't recall every
- 51:07Speaker 2: singing Clemson team like that.
- 51:09Speaker 4: You know what, should have never tweeted that, shouldn't have apologized,
- 51:13Speaker 4: should have doubled down, should have doubled down.
- 51:16Speaker 2: At the end of the day, it's like like the
- 51:18Speaker 2: people that are arguing about that, they just wanted to
- 51:20Speaker 2: be completely about that one thing that they're arguing, the
- 51:22Speaker 2: racism shit. But again, it's like as athletes, you're sitting there,
- 51:26Speaker 2: I'm looking at Roddy's tweet. I'm chuckling about it. I'm laughing.
- 51:29Speaker 2: But ultimately you're like, I mean, yeah, if you're looking around,
- 51:32Speaker 2: there's too many white guys surround me on defense, pecially
- 51:34Speaker 2: in the back seven. Hey, we have to communicate and
- 51:38Speaker 2: be on the exact same page.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Yes, we have to a blanket safeties. You're twenty five
- 51:44Speaker 4: thirty yards.
- 51:45Speaker 2: You can't just line up and play. We gotta disguise.
- 51:47Speaker 2: We gotta do a lot of things to protect what
- 51:51Speaker 2: we ultimately have on the field to play complimentary football
- 51:55Speaker 2: at all times sixty minutes. We can't have any wall swarm.
- 52:00Speaker 4: That's what we gotta do. How many times have you
- 52:02Speaker 4: told the story about you being the one white guy
- 52:04Speaker 4: on the field. That's how it needs to be. Yeah,
- 52:06Speaker 4: you got one, just a little bit of salt, a
- 52:09Speaker 4: lot of pepper, right, you need a little bit of
- 52:11Speaker 4: just a sprinkle, Dude, You ever had food with too
- 52:14Speaker 4: much salt on it? It's fucking terrible. Yeah, it's terrible.
- 52:19Speaker 2: Anyway, It's all we gotta say.
- 52:20Speaker 4: But I don't want to become an anti white podcast.
- 52:23Speaker 4: You know, we don't want to do that.
- 52:25Speaker 2: A white roster coming on December.
- 52:28Speaker 4: Not a lot of clubs and players on that.
- 52:30Speaker 2: No, this is the NFL, So yeah, it's an NFL. Dude,
- 52:34Speaker 2: it is. We are here, We are here.
- 52:36Speaker 4: It is week one. It is week one of the
- 52:40Speaker 4: NFL season, and we've talked about it a couple of times.
- 52:42Speaker 4: We have a new gambling show, Marrying and Making a
- 52:45Speaker 4: baby between Bet the Bus and Slips and Picks. De
- 52:48Speaker 4: Landy Walker will be on the show. Sometimes we'll have
- 52:50Speaker 4: a four chair. Sometime we will not have a fourth chair.
- 52:52Speaker 4: We'll figure that as we go. We're now putting a
- 52:54Speaker 4: studio together that will be out Thursday, Yes, Thursday, And
- 52:59Speaker 4: I'm gonna say the same thing to you about that
- 53:01Speaker 4: shows that ind the beginn of the show. Please subscribe
- 53:04Speaker 4: to that show and help us send that to the moon.
- 53:07Speaker 4: A lot of people mad about Bet the Bus, a
- 53:08Speaker 4: lot of people mad about some some pick stopping out there.
- 53:10Speaker 4: We see the comments. Should have subscribed, should have subscribe
- 53:13Speaker 4: and watch a little bit more, we would have known.
- 53:15Speaker 2: We just we need you to show up and if
- 53:17Speaker 2: if you enjoy the show, we need you to support
- 53:19Speaker 2: the boys show the locker room, This Thursday morning. That's
- 53:23Speaker 2: where a lot of our football talk, a lot of
- 53:25Speaker 2: our gambling and everything else will be on display. The set.
- 53:28Speaker 2: The set is going to be all the set is
- 53:30Speaker 2: all time.
- 53:30Speaker 4: Tell them the fun twist we're gonna have in the
- 53:31Speaker 4: show fan calling.
- 53:33Speaker 2: Fan calling, yes, so, which we we do need to
- 53:37Speaker 2: post about that, but get the fan calling going to
- 53:39Speaker 2: where you guys will be pitching us a parlay. You
- 53:42Speaker 2: will be featured on the show Our Boys in the back.
- 53:44Speaker 2: They will be going through all these video submissions on
- 53:47Speaker 2: you giving the boys a good parlay to bet on.
- 53:49Speaker 2: We might join you, we might not, but ultimately we
- 53:51Speaker 2: want a segment that's about you guys cooking up something
- 53:54Speaker 2: nice on the DraftKings sportsbook app that's being talked about.
- 54:01Speaker 2: It's on them getting some of the winnings no matter what.
- 54:03Speaker 2: We need their minds because there are some guys with
- 54:05Speaker 2: their with their eater to the ground and they know
- 54:08Speaker 2: some of these dark alley games that we might not
- 54:11Speaker 2: be thinking about to where hey, this is a parlay
- 54:13Speaker 2: I have cooked up. You guys need to trust me,
- 54:15Speaker 2: and we want to trust you guys with that could
- 54:18Speaker 2: be some money involved, but either way, we're gonna have
- 54:19Speaker 2: a fun little fan call in section A segment of
- 54:22Speaker 2: the of the show NFL and college. That's a great call.
- 54:31Speaker 2: So the top part of the show, the first half
- 54:33Speaker 2: of the show will be NFL. Second half of the
- 54:35Speaker 2: show will be college football. So again we're gonna be combining.
- 54:38Speaker 2: Like Taylor said, bet the bus slips and picks like
- 54:42Speaker 2: the boys me. Taylor Delaney talking football the weekend of football,
- 54:46Speaker 2: NFL for a half, College for another half. We're you know,
- 54:50Speaker 2: we're juiced. We're obviously very excited.
- 54:52Speaker 7: The fans can call in for both college and NFL.
- 54:55Speaker 2: Correct, I believe. So let's just you know, we're working
- 54:59Speaker 2: through everything. Thing it's supposed to be a mix of
- 55:01Speaker 2: a man cave in a locker room. Our lockers are
- 55:03Speaker 2: not here yet, so we might be without lockers for
- 55:06Speaker 2: our very first episode. They got pushed, they got delayed,
- 55:08Speaker 2: the shipping got delayed a little bit.
- 55:10Speaker 4: So again we're gonna way busting with the boys said.
- 55:12Speaker 2: Yeah, we're gonna grow this thing. This thing is gonna
- 55:14Speaker 2: be developing in real time. Again, it's gonna be a
- 55:16Speaker 2: fucking lot of fun. We put a shipload into building
- 55:19Speaker 2: out a new set, a new studio, which I'm fired up.
- 55:21Speaker 4: Yeah, this is the studio, The set's gonna be awesome.
- 55:24Speaker 4: It's gonna be a really good time. It'll be fun.
- 55:27Speaker 4: It'll be fun. And listen, did I go above five
- 55:30Speaker 4: hundred this week in my bets?
- 55:31Speaker 1: No?
- 55:31Speaker 4: No, I didn't. Thank q L s U us USC.
- 55:34Speaker 2: Yeah, they hear me.
- 55:36Speaker 4: Sometimes you get a little gem like a Vanderbilt money line,
- 55:38Speaker 4: and it makes it all better because technically our records
- 55:41Speaker 4: blow five hundred. The bag is above.
- 55:44Speaker 2: I can't say it enough. An insane way to start
- 55:48Speaker 2: your college football season.
- 55:49Speaker 4: We sat there, uh in the hotel the morning of
- 55:52Speaker 4: that game, and you looked me in the eyes and said, Vanderbilt,
- 55:54Speaker 4: there's no fucking shot this game.
- 55:56Speaker 2: You are an idiot, and I just need your support.
- 55:59Speaker 2: I'm supporting you, but I cannot believe you talked yourself
- 56:02Speaker 2: into that one.
- 56:03Speaker 4: And I agreed with you. I thought there's no chance.
- 56:04Speaker 4: I thought about cashing out six different times. Yeah, it
- 56:08Speaker 4: is what it is. Boys.
- 56:09Speaker 2: Should we should we get the paid manning?
- 56:11Speaker 4: No, no, we shouldn't get the paint manning. Okay, that's
- 56:14Speaker 4: absolutely not but I'm gonna put that on. Will Compton
- 56:19Speaker 4: is just focused on Colorado week that's all good because
- 56:22Speaker 4: I'm thinking, bodies know there's some merch. There's some merch
- 56:27Speaker 4: coming out for the boys. It's the fall. We're having
- 56:29Speaker 4: a big drop going on. We got hats, t shirts, hoodies,
- 56:33Speaker 4: no hoodies because it's the fall and we're not even
- 56:35Speaker 4: there yet. Shirts and hats. We got Michigan tight Ends Nebraska.
- 56:40Speaker 4: We got a whole bunch of stuff going on. I'm
- 56:41Speaker 4: gonna put my I'm gonna put this thing right here.
- 56:43Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm gonna put my mic down, go and
- 56:44Speaker 4: put it on me. Put the Michigan on on me.
- 56:49Speaker 4: Oh you look in that. Thank you, thank you. I
- 56:52Speaker 4: feel good about it, dude, I feel good about it.
- 56:54Speaker 4: We had the merch coming out that'll be dropping.
- 56:57Speaker 2: Thursday, Thursday with the show with the Mirror of the
- 57:00Speaker 2: locker Room. Our merch will be dropping Thursday morning. Buy
- 57:03Speaker 2: that shit up again. Uh, Michigan Titans Nebraska. I know
- 57:07Speaker 2: there will be people signing off in the comments. Make
- 57:09Speaker 2: Tennessee merch. Make this. Trust me. It's gonna be the
- 57:12Speaker 2: same kind of ploy we did a few years ago.
- 57:14Speaker 2: Like when the demand is behind it, we will be
- 57:16Speaker 2: able to get it created. Because we're not we don't
- 57:18Speaker 2: have just a clean slate to do whatever we want.
- 57:20Speaker 2: That is correct, but hat shirts, it's we got some
- 57:23Speaker 2: good shit cooking up.
- 57:24Speaker 4: Let's hit a twisted question. Then yes, well you can
- 57:27Speaker 4: go focus on what you're gonna do for the color.
- 57:28Speaker 2: But also Peyton Manning. We got Peyton Manning. Yeah, I do, dude,
- 57:31Speaker 2: dude a white whale.
- 57:34Speaker 4: Yes, yes, And it was not only getting a white whale,
- 57:40Speaker 4: it was the interview itself. I said this when we
- 57:42Speaker 4: walked away. This is my favorite interview we've ever done.
- 57:46Speaker 4: This is my favorite interview we've ever done. I could
- 57:48Speaker 4: sit there for three hours and watch those Kaki shorts
- 57:52Speaker 4: ride up and just hear story after story from Peyton
- 57:55Speaker 4: Manning because he's a.
- 57:56Speaker 2: Great storyteller too, and he'll go off tell some different
- 57:59Speaker 2: stories off question like he was all time man was
- 58:03Speaker 2: he was all time? Hats off? Shot up Peyton Manny.

- 58:35Speaker 4: See if we can do it again?
- 58:36Speaker 1: All right, twist the question this week.
- 58:38Speaker 8: You're down six, you're starting on your own five yard
- 58:41Speaker 8: line with two minutes left. You're playing against like a
- 58:44Speaker 8: defense of monstars, as sure, and put it a bunch
- 58:46Speaker 8: of all stars. You can pick one offense in college
- 58:50Speaker 8: football history, like twenty twelve, Oregon twenty twelve, like any year.
- 58:55Speaker 8: What offense are you picking to go down? And with
- 58:58Speaker 8: that game winning drive.
- 59:03Speaker 2: The first one that comes to my mind is, oh,
- 59:08Speaker 2: four oh five Texas with Vince Young. That's the first
- 59:11Speaker 2: one that comes in my mind. When they beat the Trojans,
- 59:15Speaker 2: arguably one of the greatest Little Dynasty runs of all time,
- 59:19Speaker 2: of our lifetime.
- 59:22Speaker 4: You got give me, give me Joe Burrows, lsu.
- 59:26Speaker 2: Oh that's a good one. That's a good one. That's
- 59:30Speaker 2: a great one.
- 59:31Speaker 4: Yep, thank you, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, just a stout
- 59:37Speaker 4: offensive line and Joe Burrow at the helm.
- 59:40Speaker 2: That might be the one.
- 59:41Speaker 4: That's the one for me.
- 59:42Speaker 7: They have the energy too to get the gat, get
- 59:45Speaker 7: the get the gat.
- 59:47Speaker 2: And they just they got the players, They got the
- 59:50Speaker 2: quarterback for a two minute offense. Like, yeah, that might
- 59:53Speaker 2: be the one.
- 59:55Speaker 4: I wanted to put Michigan in there somewhere, but I
- 59:58Speaker 4: had to go with LSU.
- 59:59Speaker 2: What are there are there others out there like King
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Let's see here, most talentless.
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: Here they're asked, dude, they sucked.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: They dog walk Michigan.
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: Yep, they had their quarterback played receiver in the league.
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: You're gonna put Braxon Miller at the helm over Joe Burrow.
- 1:00:21Speaker 7: No, I'm just saying that's another option we also you
- 1:00:23Speaker 7: don't have to worry about.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: You're seeing two twenty nineteen LSU offense comes up. Twenty
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: twenty Alabama twenty eighteen, Alabama, twenty eighteen, Oklahoma. Yeah, twenty
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: seventeen Oklahoma. This is in the two thousands, though, that's
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: that's in the two thousands.
- 1:00:42Speaker 7: You don't have to worry about the defense on the
- 1:00:44Speaker 7: team that you're selecting because.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: You could get right. That's what I'm saying, Like you're
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: That's why I love that, Joe Burrow, because you got
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, Right, Yeah.
- 1:00:53Speaker 7: What about I mean homes led Texas Tech team.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: That's my answer. Final two thousand and one Miami Hurricanes.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: They averaged forty two points per game, four hundred and
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: fifty six yards per game. Margin of victor is thirty
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: two point nine. Jesus fucking Christ, Now you Davenport, Ken Dorsey,
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: Frank Gore, Andre Johnson, Willis McGahee, Clinton Portis, Jeremy Shockey,
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Kellen Winslow Junior oh. Two thousand and one Miami Hurricanes,
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: twenty thirteen Baylor Bears. Crazy Shirm's not speaking up.
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: I feel like Marcus had a good Oregon team for that.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Yeah he did. Ooh but that two five Longhorns Vince Young,
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Jamal Charles, No, no, no, no. They were averaging almost
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: forty five points per game. Hang on, let me keep
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: going here, let me get closer. The twenty twenty Alabama
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: Crimson type forty and a half points a game for
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: five hundred and forty yards of offense. Twenty thirteen Florida
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: State Seminoles. You got Jamis Winston, Davonta Foreman, Kelvin Benjamin,
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: two thousand and five USC Trojans, but again they faced
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Texas like that was there in the twenty nineteen LSU Tigers.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: They were averaging forty eight point four almost five hundred
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: and seventy yards per game. You have Joe Burrow, Clyde Edwards,
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: Hilaire Laire, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, Terrence Marshall junior.
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: Yeah, the LSU one might be the pick, but yeah,
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: I think so. Second half National Championship to a tongue
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: of by Low for sure.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: I mean that's when they hold on forever.
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: Second and twenty six, Yeah, for sure. Took a sat
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: because he needed more room.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: Yeah, l one Miami kind of that one that rosters nuts. Yeah,
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: that a roster was crazy. But a lot to choose from.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: I'm curiously what the internet argues about and says here
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: because there's you can't lose. I guess you can't lose,
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: you fail.
- 1:03:04Speaker 7: Interesting that twenty thirteen Baylor team you brought up, there
- 1:03:08Speaker 7: was a point in the season where they were averaging
- 1:03:10Speaker 7: under a minute for their offensive drives. They were scoring
- 1:03:14Speaker 7: in less than a minute. Yeah, but that was back
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: in a Bryce Petty.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: I believe Bryce Petty, but also your if we're playing
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: the most elite defense, I'm assuming what you had one
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: of the of the ninety seven Huskers ninety five, ninety four,
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: ninety five, eighty seven.
- 1:03:33Speaker 7: Because some could argue that.
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: That Miami Hurricane defense was nasty.
- 1:03:39Speaker 7: Yeah, I wouldn't want to do your like it's crazy
- 1:03:42Speaker 7: as Sherman's not talking about twenty thirteen Baylor love that offense,
- 1:03:45Speaker 7: but it is that offense was there were some dogs
- 1:03:48Speaker 7: on it, like you had Corey Coleman.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: Right, but as far as like the talent of a
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: Jamar Chase Justin Jefferson.
- 1:03:54Speaker 7: Yeah, And it was it that it was like a
- 1:03:56Speaker 7: gimmicky spread offense or was it that there were some
- 1:03:59Speaker 7: true players? I would rather go like true dogs, Yeah,
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: the Monstars.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, all right, let's get to Peyton Manning. Do
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: you have anything else?

- 1:06:19Speaker 5: were super kind, great people. So shout out to Jets. Yeah,
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: I did not know that. Come Nebraska if y'all can
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: make that drive to.
- 1:06:27Speaker 7: Yeah, I think I'll also shout out the tier ones
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: that showed up. I met Austin and his mom. They
- 1:06:34Speaker 7: were like super stoked. Austin's at A and M. But
- 1:06:38Speaker 7: he was wearing one of the bust and shirts that
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: has like kind of the A and M colored logo
- 1:06:43Speaker 7: on it instead of an actual Texas A and M show.
- 1:06:46Speaker 7: He was repping the busting with the boys shirt.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: I was like a G shirt shirt cream shirt in
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: the maroon riding.
- 1:06:52Speaker 7: Yeah, you gotta love it, dude. The tier ones were strong.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: It was a lot of fun. Oh yeah, a lot
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: of fun. Shout out to the breezes during the game
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: because it was fucking hot out there during in the afternoon.
- 1:07:05Speaker 8: Alright, I don't have a shout out for the trip
- 1:07:08Speaker 8: because I wasn't there, but my shot and every shadow
- 1:07:11Speaker 8: goes to Uh. This happened a couple of weeks ago
- 1:07:14Speaker 8: when it was actually JP's wedding. But when your girlfriend
- 1:07:17Speaker 8: and one of your boys girlfriend hits it off and
- 1:07:20Speaker 8: you don't necessarily have to be around them, G's girlfriend
- 1:07:25Speaker 8: at L and Brooke, they just were hanging out all
- 1:07:28Speaker 8: night like they both from California, Like say, a bunch
- 1:07:31Speaker 8: of a bunch of like just talk about and everything.
- 1:07:36Speaker 8: But it just made it so much easier for both
- 1:07:38Speaker 8: G and I that we'd have to be like, hey,
- 1:07:40Speaker 8: like are you all right?
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: Like you're doing everything? Are you get a dream?
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Yeah? Like it?
- 1:07:46Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, it was just it's just one thing you
- 1:07:48Speaker 8: don't have to worry about when you're doing something.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: And Mitch again just echoing from the team meeting last week,
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: we wish we could dress.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: No, and I'm not I didn't wish.
- 1:07:55Speaker 8: I didn't make that comment.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: To Mitch mentioned one to me as well.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: I know I didn't make that comment.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: Yeah, this wants to be awesome. Would No, I'm not
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: going we wish we could dress.
- 1:08:04Speaker 8: Everybody again that like, I just felt that. I just
- 1:08:08Speaker 8: said that because everybody else is shouting it.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: If somebody gets injured, next man up that.
- 1:08:15Speaker 8: It's not I'm not at all trying to be like
- 1:08:17Speaker 8: that at all at all at all.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: All of them, everybody's on the shot. You know, this
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: is a we wish we could dress everybody. We wish
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: we could take everybody. I just want you to know
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: we wish we could.
- 1:08:31Speaker 6: I have a shout out from this weekend, shout out
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: to the nachos that I made sitting at home by myself.
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: Atlantis was gone, nothing but football and me in a
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: pile of nachos. Go check my Twitter.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: It was my check. Shout out to Twitter. Where where
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: can't people follow you? Is it underscore?
- 1:08:52Speaker 6: Geard Hargas, you know what I mean, Gary Bird, look
- 1:08:54Speaker 6: it up, Gary.
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: It was thin layer of chips, cheese, chips, cheese, chicken, jalapinos,
- 1:09:04Speaker 6: black beans, dice, tomatoes, a little.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: Bit more cheese, hot sauce. It was amazing. I love
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: the layers to it. You have to because.
- 1:09:13Speaker 6: There's always, no matter who's making the nachos you restaurant,
- 1:09:17Speaker 6: there are chips that just don't get loving. Yep, and
- 1:09:21Speaker 6: you know you gotta give them some loving. Like what's
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: a chip without any loving? Yeah, so shout out the nachos.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: Let's fucking go boys. Peyton Manning, Yeah, Peyton Manning, the
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: Sheriff enjoy this episode. It was all time. I hope
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: you guys love it like we did. We have White
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: Whale one of our biggest guests we've ever had, no
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: question about it, maybe the biggest, although Dale earn Hard
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: Junior that was a big one. Yeah, that's a big one.
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: But Peyton Manning, welcome to Busting with the Boys.
- 1:09:53Speaker 9: Thank you all for having me. Yeah, appreciate that hottered,
- 1:09:56Speaker 9: very honored.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: Just kick us off, brother walking in this room, Like, honestly,
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: it's a rhetorical question, but I'm going to ask it anyway.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: Did you ever think that you would leave a legacy
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: like this because like, you come from a football family,
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: Like you're growing up, you have all the footge where
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: you're playing in the backyard stuff they like when I'm
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: young and I'm watching you get you and your brother
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: get talked about an archie to where you see all
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: the footage and you just know that little kid in
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: you that loves the game so much and making such
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: an impact that you've made on this game, Like do
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: you ever just sit there and try to take a
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: moment to take it in.
- 1:10:29Speaker 9: I'm very grateful and honored for the teams and organizations
- 1:10:33Speaker 9: that I was a part of, But I cherished my
- 1:10:35Speaker 9: four years here at Tennessee. And now, I mean, you
- 1:10:38Speaker 9: have no idea that you're going to have this connection
- 1:10:43Speaker 9: and relationship with the university thirty years after I came
- 1:10:47Speaker 9: here back in nineteen ninety four. But I love coming back.
- 1:10:50Speaker 9: I stayed four years in college. Will I think people
- 1:10:54Speaker 9: here in Knoxville and Tennessee probably remember that more than
- 1:10:57Speaker 9: anything more than a throw or a touchdown. And I
- 1:11:00Speaker 9: turned the NFL down for a year to stay one
- 1:11:04Speaker 9: more year in college, which spoke a lot about how
- 1:11:07Speaker 9: much I loved the university, in the whole school and
- 1:11:10Speaker 9: the whole place in order to stay here. So it's
- 1:11:12Speaker 9: fun to come back. I love coming back to games,
- 1:11:14Speaker 9: and yeah, this place. After I got drafted by the Colts,
- 1:11:18Speaker 9: I was moving out of my college apartment. My mom
- 1:11:20Speaker 9: came up and basically we moved all of my college stuff,
- 1:11:23Speaker 9: just put him into a like a storage unit and
- 1:11:25Speaker 9: just it's been sitting here for like twenty years, and
- 1:11:28Speaker 9: opened this kind of hotel bar, and I said, I
- 1:11:31Speaker 9: got a bunch of my mom kind of things. It's junk,
- 1:11:33Speaker 9: it's in this storage unit. Yeah, fucking dig in there.
- 1:11:35Speaker 9: So they went and as in all this stuff. That's
- 1:11:38Speaker 9: what my mom thought of this stuff. It was all
- 1:11:40Speaker 9: basically garbage. But anyway, it's fun to come back.
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: That's awesome. With choosing Tennessee, like your old man Obficely
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: went to Old Miss, what was your recruiting process like
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: way back in ninety four?
- 1:11:50Speaker 9: Yeah, that was hard. I mean for years, Taylor, I
- 1:11:53Speaker 9: thought Ole Miss was the only school that ever existed, right.
- 1:11:55Speaker 9: I grew up in New Orleans. Of course, you know
- 1:11:57Speaker 9: LSU was the Bubby, the top school in the state,
- 1:12:00Speaker 9: but Ole miss with the games we went to on
- 1:12:03Speaker 9: the weekends. And then all of a sudden, you're a
- 1:12:05Speaker 9: junior in high school and you start getting recruited by
- 1:12:08Speaker 9: other schools. And I really didn't know how serious it
- 1:12:12Speaker 9: was up until I got my first handwritten letter from
- 1:12:16Speaker 9: Bobby Balladen at Florida State. And yeah, I guess I'd
- 1:12:19Speaker 9: heard enough about recruiting. There was a lot of form letters,
- 1:12:21Speaker 9: the type letters, but you got a handwritten letter. I
- 1:12:25Speaker 9: mean I checked it. It smeared. I mean, it was
- 1:12:27Speaker 9: a legitimate handwritten letter Bobby Ballden, And I was like, Okay,
- 1:12:32Speaker 9: I figured, if he's writing me a handwritten letter telling
- 1:12:34Speaker 9: me he's going to recruit me, maybe there are some
- 1:12:36Speaker 9: other schools out there that are interested. And that's when
- 1:12:39Speaker 9: I started kind of looking around, I guess, opening my
- 1:12:42Speaker 9: eyes up a little bit. And had a great visit
- 1:12:44Speaker 9: here to Tennessee. I was snowing, didn't get to really
- 1:12:48Speaker 9: see the stadium in its glorious view, but met a
- 1:12:51Speaker 9: lot of good people and my brother Cooper went to
- 1:12:54Speaker 9: Ole Miss on scholarship. Taylor had a neck injury, had
- 1:12:57Speaker 9: to stop playing, and he was in the right school
- 1:13:00Speaker 9: for him if football didn't work out. And that's kind
- 1:13:03Speaker 9: of when I said, that's really how you should choose
- 1:13:05Speaker 9: the school. If I get hurt the first day, but
- 1:13:07Speaker 9: I'd be happy in the school. And that's kind of
- 1:13:09Speaker 9: how I felt about here at Tennessee. So and my dad,
- 1:13:11Speaker 9: I give him credit. If he would have said, son,
- 1:13:14Speaker 9: you're going to Old Miss, that's the end of the story.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: That would have been it.
- 1:13:17Speaker 9: I would have said, yes, sir, deb He said, you're
- 1:13:19Speaker 9: eighteen years old. You're old enough to make your own decision.
- 1:13:21Speaker 9: I'll support you wherever you go. And he caught a
- 1:13:24Speaker 9: lot of flak from Old Miss people, and how could
- 1:13:26Speaker 9: you not, you know, make your son go to your school.
- 1:13:29Speaker 9: You know, you've kind of let us down. It was
- 1:13:31Speaker 9: I think. I know he was disappointed, and a lot
- 1:13:33Speaker 9: of course when Eli went to Old Miss, everybody made up.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: It was all good.
- 1:13:36Speaker 9: But I respect my dad for letting me make that decision.
- 1:13:39Speaker 9: And you know, I think when you make those decisions,
- 1:13:42Speaker 9: it's kind of you kind of make it the right
- 1:13:44Speaker 9: decision after the fact by just going all in and
- 1:13:46Speaker 9: not looking back. And so it was a hard decision,
- 1:13:49Speaker 9: but I appreciate my parents kind of supporting me in it.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: Man, I feel like if he was my boy, he'd
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: be not to mention he did come back a senior
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: year and ultimately this season and thing go then end
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: the way you wanted it to. Well, look, was it
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: like forty something the seventeen?
- 1:14:07Speaker 9: It was it the rescue? Yeah, I forgot about that game.
- 1:14:09Speaker 9: There's no there's none of those pictures in here. Well
- 1:14:12Speaker 9: I took that's not just because you're here. Yeah, when
- 1:14:17Speaker 9: you come back, I mean you sign up for all
- 1:14:19Speaker 9: of it, right, I mean you sign up for it
- 1:14:21Speaker 9: to be glorious and to go undefeated and all that. Obviously,
- 1:14:25Speaker 9: if I would have gotten injured, you know I was.
- 1:14:28Speaker 9: I was okay with that. I just I felt like
- 1:14:31Speaker 9: I'd rushed my first three years in college. I was
- 1:14:33Speaker 9: always running a class, running the new interviews, and I
- 1:14:36Speaker 9: don't want to be my age now forty eight years
- 1:14:38Speaker 9: old and kind of wondering what was college even I
- 1:14:40Speaker 9: don't remember anything about college. My senior year, I slowed down.
- 1:14:43Speaker 9: I'd already graduated. I got more mentally stronger, my rookie
- 1:14:48Speaker 9: year with the Colts was a struggle, right, only one
- 1:14:50Speaker 9: three and thirteen twenty eight picks. I don't think I
- 1:14:53Speaker 9: would have handled that had I not stayed four years
- 1:14:55Speaker 9: in college. Right, that's the kind of season that can
- 1:14:57Speaker 9: kind of break you. But I kind of said, you know,
- 1:15:00Speaker 9: actually doing some decent things. We're not winning any games,
- 1:15:02Speaker 9: and we went thirteen and three my second year. I
- 1:15:05Speaker 9: gave all that credit to stay in four years in college,
- 1:15:08Speaker 9: and so it was the right decision for me.
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: Now, did you come to come to that decision on
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: your own? Or was that sitting down and talking to
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: your dad, talking to people you loved me, and like
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: what should I do?
- 1:15:17Speaker 9: Yeah, it's funny, it's a great question because my dad
- 1:15:20Speaker 9: was always one of those guys that said, hey, ask
- 1:15:22Speaker 9: some different people some questions, like call some people that
- 1:15:25Speaker 9: have had this decision. So he kind of formed a list,
- 1:15:28Speaker 9: and I guess he I don't know how, Like somehow
- 1:15:30Speaker 9: he helped me get some phone numbers. So I called
- 1:15:32Speaker 9: Troy aightman who stayed four years in college. He said
- 1:15:35Speaker 9: he really wanted to be the first pick in the draft.
- 1:15:37Speaker 9: That was important to him, and he was Drew Bledsoe
- 1:15:40Speaker 9: left as a junior. He said he knew he was
- 1:15:43Speaker 9: gonna be the first pick in the draft as a junior,
- 1:15:45Speaker 9: and he was like, I'm ready to go. I'm a
- 1:15:47Speaker 9: totally name dropp here. I talked to Michael Jordan, who
- 1:15:50Speaker 9: came out as a junior.
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: That's a game. That's a good game drop yeah, And he.
- 1:15:54Speaker 9: Just said, look, I thought I was ready. And so
- 1:15:57Speaker 9: I guess I came away with it that it truly
- 1:15:59Speaker 9: has to be a year to see of what you
- 1:16:00Speaker 9: really want. And I probably would have been the first
- 1:16:02Speaker 9: pick as a junior. The Jets had the first pick.
- 1:16:05Speaker 9: It's interesting to see. I think how things would have
- 1:16:07Speaker 9: turned out. Uh, Parcels was the head coach, Belichick was
- 1:16:10Speaker 9: the decordinator. Just he ended up coaching the Patriots and
- 1:16:12Speaker 9: Brady who knows. So I just it was it was
- 1:16:18Speaker 9: the right decision for me. So Uh, eventually you kind
- 1:16:21Speaker 9: of gather the information. You sort of had the old
- 1:16:24Speaker 9: yellow notepad out with the pluses and minuses.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: You look at them.
- 1:16:27Speaker 9: You know, it's kind of fifty to fifty. The way
- 1:16:30Speaker 9: you make a decision, You pray about it, and then
- 1:16:32Speaker 9: you go with it.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:16:33Speaker 9: And so I ended up working out for me.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: Your first year you alluded to with the is it
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: still the record?
- 1:16:39Speaker 9: Yeah, which which is amazing with seventeen games. Now, yeah,
- 1:16:42Speaker 9: seventeen games. I mean Mahomes is breaking every other record.
- 1:16:45Speaker 9: Why can't we break record?
- 1:16:46Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: How do you keep the.
- 1:16:48Speaker 9: Problem is when they struggled early with picks that they
- 1:16:51Speaker 9: take them out. Leave them in there, let him learn right.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you, jeez.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: I'm over it.
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: But our records resound here.
- 1:17:00Speaker 9: I'm a pili would have broken it easily. He only
- 1:17:03Speaker 9: started six games, that is, that's a great point. Put
- 1:17:06Speaker 9: him in there. This is my top. I got a
- 1:17:08Speaker 9: good chance this year. We got we got several that
- 1:17:11Speaker 9: kind of good chance. I mean, is mey gonna get
- 1:17:13Speaker 9: the starting job? I mean I don't want Nicks to
- 1:17:15Speaker 9: do it in Denver obviously, but if he.
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: Did do it, it'd be like, well that's ago next right, Yeah,
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: so you.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: Know you'll be the first phone call for that rookie
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: who does do it.
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: You gotta say, whoever, whoever beats you send the handwritten
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: letter to be.
- 1:17:30Speaker 9: A sixteen to seventeen game starter. So put all these
- 1:17:32Speaker 9: guys in the now.

- 1:18:48Speaker 2: that's a great deal. That's a great deal. Shout out
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: draft games. How did you kind of like as competitors
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: when you start to when you have an up and
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: down year like that, and then you're three and thirteen,
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: you're like that you were their first round pick and
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: you do set the record for interceptions, like the mental
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: fortitude on trying to keep the noise out of your
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: head going into that next year, because I'm just I
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: was obviously young then, but now thinking about it, if
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: a rookie quarterbacks, a rookie quarterback is breaking that record,
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: they're just getting drug across the mud.
- 1:19:17Speaker 9: It was Look, it was tough, and I think, look,
- 1:19:20Speaker 9: playing in Indianapolis probably would have been different had I
- 1:19:23Speaker 9: been with the Jets. If I would have been with
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: the Jets, and hey, Parcels would have would have ventured
- 1:19:28Speaker 9: me way before the sixteenth game. But I don't know,
- 1:19:32Speaker 9: maybe somewhere Indianapolis at the time, being a smaller market,
- 1:19:35Speaker 9: maybe that helped me a little bit.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: So it was bad. Uh. You know, we were playing.
- 1:19:40Speaker 9: On the CBS, you know e broadcast team every weekend.
- 1:19:45Speaker 9: There was no Madden. There was no Nance or Summer
- 1:19:48Speaker 9: All or Phil Simms coming to Indy. Uh, you know,
- 1:19:52Speaker 9: no Monday night TV. So but yeah, look, it's the
- 1:19:56Speaker 9: kind of season that can sort of can kind of
- 1:19:58Speaker 9: make or break yet, right, and I just we actually
- 1:20:02Speaker 9: were in some games, you know, everybody like nobody was
- 1:20:04Speaker 9: getting up to play us.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:20:05Speaker 9: We played the Niners that year, Steve Young, Jay Rice,
- 1:20:08Speaker 9: We played the Jets who went to the AFC Championship.
- 1:20:10Speaker 9: You know, they had us as a circled win. So
- 1:20:12Speaker 9: we actually had some actually fairly close games. We'd blow
- 1:20:15Speaker 9: it in the end. But that's what I kind of
- 1:20:17Speaker 9: went off of. I'm like, I think I actually can
- 1:20:20Speaker 9: do this if I just don't throw three interceptions in
- 1:20:23Speaker 9: the first half. So it didn't break me and my
- 1:20:27Speaker 9: coaches at jim More, I had a tough coach, but
- 1:20:31Speaker 9: he was loyal, stuck, He stuck with me. He said, hey,
- 1:20:33Speaker 9: stay in there, keep learning. We're going to fight through
- 1:20:35Speaker 9: this thing. And sure enough we did. I'm not sure
- 1:20:37Speaker 9: if it's been but at the time it was the
- 1:20:39Speaker 9: biggest turnaround in history from three to thirteen to thirteen
- 1:20:42Speaker 9: and three. There's no way I'd do that if I
- 1:20:44Speaker 9: don't play all those games, rookie. So I tell all
- 1:20:47Speaker 9: these college quarterbacks. We were talking earlier about that camp
- 1:20:50Speaker 9: that we have, and I tell all these guys, it's
- 1:20:52Speaker 9: a marathon, it's not a sprint. Don't don't let them.
- 1:20:54Speaker 9: You know, a couple of bad seasons break it right,
- 1:20:56Speaker 9: just keep learning from it and keep getting better.
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: Yeah, two thousand and nine, you're playing the Miami Dolphins
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: and John Gruden crowns you the sheriff. Now this is
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: kind of just hey, how cool is that nickname? And
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: also how long did it take the stick? Because sheriff,
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: unless you're writing a movie, there's no cooler nickname to
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: be bestowed on somebody.
- 1:21:15Speaker 9: I you know, I never ever wants if you ever
- 1:21:19Speaker 9: hear me referring to myself as the sheriff, shoot me please.
- 1:21:27Speaker 9: I never wants texted. Hey, you know, sheriff will be
- 1:21:30Speaker 9: there at three o'clock, you know, please. My brothers would
- 1:21:34Speaker 9: would have have their way with me. Yeah, Gruden, Uh,
- 1:21:37Speaker 9: what was his expression? You know?
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: Uh?
- 1:21:39Speaker 9: When when Peyton comes to town, he lays down the
- 1:21:42Speaker 9: law and he always gets his man. He finds who
- 1:21:45Speaker 9: he's wanting going to get and he gets his man.
- 1:21:47Speaker 9: So Wieter, Uh, look, I love Gruden and he was
- 1:21:51Speaker 9: a great broadcaster.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: It was fun.
- 1:21:53Speaker 9: So I you love the nickname.
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: The nickname, It's okay, it's the best nickname.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: I wave.
- 1:21:58Speaker 9: I'll respond. People never call me Peyton. They yell omaha
- 1:22:03Speaker 9: or sheriff. Yeah yeah, and you keep going. But like
- 1:22:06Speaker 9: I said, I will never go third person on you
- 1:22:08Speaker 9: saying you know sheriff's here.
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: You know where were the teammates ever picking it up
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: calling you the sheriff.
- 1:22:12Speaker 9: Oh yeah, no, for sure. Oh yeah, Von, I mean
- 1:22:14Speaker 9: Von Miller. I guess that's all they called me.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: That's it.
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: That is cool. Yeah, there's there's this legend of Peyton Manning.
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: I've had some teammates that play with you and they
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: would say they would tell stories like if a tight
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: end drop the pass and then a you get him
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: off the field, and then if a coach tries to
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: get him back on the field, You're like, no, no, no,
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: he's got to stay on the sideline. Whether it was that,
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: whether it was like whether it was like that or not.
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: When do you feel like you started to like have
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: that confidence in you two take over like that.
- 1:22:45Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean certainly not early on, not coming off
- 1:22:47Speaker 9: a tough rookie season, And I mean, number one thing
- 1:22:50Speaker 9: that you want to do as NFL player, You guys
- 1:22:52Speaker 9: know this, just try to earn the respect of your teammates, right,
- 1:22:55Speaker 9: and when you're twenty two years old as a quarterback,
- 1:22:58Speaker 9: you got thirty seven thirty eight year old grown adults
- 1:23:02Speaker 9: in that huddle with you. My first game in college
- 1:23:04Speaker 9: here at Tennessee, I went into the huddle. I was
- 1:23:06Speaker 9: a freshman. You know, I kind of had this pre
- 1:23:08Speaker 9: planned speech for my first game, and I know, I'm
- 1:23:11Speaker 9: just a freshman. Let's go down the field and score
- 1:23:12Speaker 9: or big left tackles, like shut the f up and
- 1:23:14Speaker 9: call theffing play. Yeah, And it was the most It
- 1:23:16Speaker 9: was like the best thing that ever happened to me.
- 1:23:18Speaker 9: Because college, high school, NFL, they don't want to hear that.
- 1:23:22Speaker 9: They want to see you take a hit. They want
- 1:23:24Speaker 9: to see you take responsibility for holding the ball too long, right,
- 1:23:29Speaker 9: not blaming you know, the receivers or o linemen. So
- 1:23:33Speaker 9: that's what I wanted to do when I got to
- 1:23:35Speaker 9: the NFL. So yeah, it took you know, years before that.
- 1:23:38Speaker 9: I never kicked the guy out for chopping the ball.
- 1:23:41Speaker 9: I would kick a guy out if he if he
- 1:23:43Speaker 9: made a mental error, like if he if he jumped
- 1:23:46Speaker 9: off sides and maybe did it twice. And the legendre
- 1:23:50Speaker 9: the one, the one that is we were playing the
- 1:23:53Speaker 9: Ravens one time and this guy jumped off sides to
- 1:23:58Speaker 9: start the series. All we had to do is get
- 1:23:59Speaker 9: one first down. We were gonna run the clock out.
- 1:24:01Speaker 9: And he jumped off sides on the first play, and
- 1:24:04Speaker 9: sure enough, we don't get the first down. We punt
- 1:24:06Speaker 9: to Ed Reid, who's you know, remember that what I
- 1:24:08Speaker 9: electric he was, And somehow we end up stopping him
- 1:24:12Speaker 9: and we win the game. So now we're going to
- 1:24:14Speaker 9: take the knee. We have the ball with twelve seconds.
- 1:24:16Speaker 9: We're going to take the knee. So the guy that
- 1:24:17Speaker 9: jumped off sides is in the huddle to take the knee,
- 1:24:21Speaker 9: and I said get out, and he's like, he's like, what,
- 1:24:24Speaker 9: we're just taking the knee. I was like, yeah, get out,
- 1:24:27Speaker 9: and so he ran out. We had to substitute ring
- 1:24:29Speaker 9: somebody in just to take the knee, and he said
- 1:24:31Speaker 9: his dad asked of after the game, He's like, why
- 1:24:33Speaker 9: don't you have to go out to take the knee.
- 1:24:35Speaker 9: He's like, I don't want to talk about it then
- 1:24:37Speaker 9: kill so uh, you know, But like like I said,
- 1:24:41Speaker 9: but it was all I was hard on myself.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: People could.
- 1:24:44Speaker 9: I probably cussed myself more in practice than I did
- 1:24:47Speaker 9: anybody else. So I think people knew that I was
- 1:24:50Speaker 9: hard on myself, and so when I was hard on them,
- 1:24:52Speaker 9: it was fair, right, And and I hope, you know,
- 1:24:55Speaker 9: my teammates felt that way, that it was all about
- 1:24:57Speaker 9: just trying to win.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: Let's try to do it together.
- 1:24:59Speaker 9: I never ever want to embarrass anyone. This was a
- 1:25:02Speaker 9: rookie receiver. I'm not gonna mention his name on the podcast.
- 1:25:05Speaker 9: He may live in Nashville, so he knows.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Who he is. But that was kind of a one
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: a one off, if you will, dude, we.
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: Had we had earlier this morning. We had Will Levis on,
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: and Will Levis is talking about working himself into a
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: leadership role on how that looks for him. At what
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: point in your career did you know, Okay, I can
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: start telling these guys point blank, this is how I feel,
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: as opposed to kind of like beating around the bush.
- 1:25:29Speaker 9: Yeah, it's a great It's a great question because it's
- 1:25:31Speaker 9: a feel h Taylor. I think I think you got
- 1:25:34Speaker 9: to do some things first, right, I think he got
- 1:25:36Speaker 9: to lead a two minutes drew that game Will had
- 1:25:39Speaker 9: against the Dolphins, right last year, that was a that
- 1:25:42Speaker 9: was a good thing, right. I think he can bank
- 1:25:44Speaker 9: that one and that that earns you some stripes. So
- 1:25:46Speaker 9: you love to have some continuity, certainly, you know, leading
- 1:25:51Speaker 9: a team to the playoffs or winning a division, or
- 1:25:54Speaker 9: beating a team that you're not supposed to, just those
- 1:25:56Speaker 9: kind of things where you just sort of kind of
- 1:25:59Speaker 9: check some boxes. That's how it was for me. You know,
- 1:26:02Speaker 9: I didn't say a whole lot in my rookie year.
- 1:26:05Speaker 9: I just wanted to earn their respect. And you know,
- 1:26:08Speaker 9: I had a two minute drive to beat the Jets
- 1:26:10Speaker 9: that year, and I was excited. But you know, I
- 1:26:13Speaker 9: just don't think veteran players, you guys know this, and
- 1:26:15Speaker 9: they don't want to hear young players, you know, barking
- 1:26:19Speaker 9: orders until they truly have earned their respect. And I
- 1:26:21Speaker 9: think that's a process that takes a little time. But
- 1:26:25Speaker 9: I liked what Will did last year. You know, he's
- 1:26:27Speaker 9: tougher than nails. He stands in the pocket, he runs.
- 1:26:31Speaker 9: I like him to slide a little more, just to
- 1:26:34Speaker 9: stay healthy. Look, that's hard because I never could run.
- 1:26:36Speaker 9: I never had the option. But these guys that can run,
- 1:26:39Speaker 9: as you know, you still want to be there all
- 1:26:42Speaker 9: seventeen weeks, and so I'm pulling for him. I like
- 1:26:45Speaker 9: Brian Callahan, he was an assistant coach with me in Denver.
- 1:26:48Speaker 9: I think that could be a good you know, head coach,
- 1:26:51Speaker 9: quarterback combo.
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: How everybody talks about the Manning Brady rivalry when you
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: were in it, How real was that in your mind personally?
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Like if you when after a game or you are
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: you searching to see how he did? Like what was
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: that rivalry? Yeah?
- 1:27:06Speaker 9: I mean I mean you always just knew, right if
- 1:27:08Speaker 9: there's no Tom Brady, I mean you always you always
- 1:27:10Speaker 9: knew that, you know that the Patriots had won. I
- 1:27:13Speaker 9: mean I guess when it really started when we played
- 1:27:15Speaker 9: him in the regular season so many times, and if
- 1:27:18Speaker 9: we lost to them, you just knew we're gonna have
- 1:27:21Speaker 9: to go play that New England in the playoffs and
- 1:27:24Speaker 9: this like we lost to him week one one time,
- 1:27:26Speaker 9: I'm like, we're coming back here in in January, yeah,
- 1:27:30Speaker 9: and so you just knew they were going to be there.
- 1:27:32Speaker 9: They were so consistent. Look, it was Tom, it was Belichick,
- 1:27:36Speaker 9: it was defense, it was the whole thing, right, It
- 1:27:39Speaker 9: was just this kind of this triple headed monster. Uh
- 1:27:43Speaker 9: so when you played them, yeah, you knew you had
- 1:27:45Speaker 9: to be on your game. You knew their defense was
- 1:27:47Speaker 9: going to be stingy. You know, you just they always Belichick,
- 1:27:51Speaker 9: you know, kind of the easiest way to describe him.
- 1:27:53Speaker 9: He always took away the things you really liked to do.
- 1:27:56Speaker 9: So you had to find something else to kind of
- 1:27:58Speaker 9: do well that game. And then Tom was gonna be
- 1:28:00Speaker 9: on his game, so you had to score some points.
- 1:28:02Speaker 9: But you know, major respect to everybody during that era.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: Yeah, we were.
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: You were mentioning in your last answer about how you
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: feel like you quarterbacks just seem to do something a
- 1:28:12Speaker 4: little bit now, I fumbled a big question when we
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: had a Rich Eisen on the podcast because my dad
- 1:28:18Speaker 4: told me something as a kid, and my dad told
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: me this as well. But I was told that when
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: you first got in the NFL, you didn't want to
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: do any marketing stuff until you kind of proved it
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: a little bit. Is that true?
- 1:28:27Speaker 9: Yeah, that is true. I just didn't, which people would
- 1:28:31Speaker 9: laugh at now. It's like, you know, you do so
- 1:28:33Speaker 9: many commercials, Peyton, I can't believe there actually was a
- 1:28:35Speaker 9: time when you didn't do anything. But yeah, I think
- 1:28:38Speaker 9: there's something to that about just kind of earning your
- 1:28:41Speaker 9: stripes a little bit and make that the incentive right
- 1:28:45Speaker 9: to go win some games and then, man, some things
- 1:28:47Speaker 9: are going to come your way when you do it,
- 1:28:49Speaker 9: but not just because you got drafted or whatnot. You know,
- 1:28:52Speaker 9: to go and earn it. And that's look, those days
- 1:28:55Speaker 9: are probably out the window now because of what's happening
- 1:28:57Speaker 9: now in college right with Nil. But uh, yeah, I
- 1:29:00Speaker 9: remember the first real commercial uh that I did was
- 1:29:03Speaker 9: kind of uh in my second year uh in the NFL.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:29:08Speaker 9: We'd had a good season, so I felt like I'd
- 1:29:10Speaker 9: kind of maybe earned some stripes. I did a Gatorade
- 1:29:12Speaker 9: commercial with Michael Jordan. Another name drop. Yeah again, but
- 1:29:18Speaker 9: I can tell you where I was on the totem pole.
- 1:29:20Speaker 9: I never knew what a what a what a double
- 1:29:22Speaker 9: was for a commercial. Michael Jordan had this double, the
- 1:29:25Speaker 9: guy that looked kind of like him that just made
- 1:29:27Speaker 9: a ton of money, you know, filling in for Mike
- 1:29:30Speaker 9: on some of the commercials that he did. So I
- 1:29:32Speaker 9: got there and they said, hey, your double, uh is
- 1:29:35Speaker 9: going to be standing in for you. I'm like, Oh,
- 1:29:37Speaker 9: I've got a double. This is this is big.
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: You went to see him and.
- 1:29:40Speaker 9: They said, uh, they said, you, your hair is a
- 1:29:43Speaker 9: little longer than the double. Do you mind if we
- 1:29:46Speaker 9: give you a little haircut to match the double? And
- 1:29:49Speaker 9: I was like, is that how it's supposed to work?
- 1:29:50Speaker 9: Like would you tell Michael to shave his mustache to
- 1:29:53Speaker 9: match his double? Something tells me I was pretty low
- 1:29:55Speaker 9: on the totem pole. But yeah, look, it's still kind
- 1:29:58Speaker 9: of my advice to rookies is, man, just go earn it,
- 1:30:01Speaker 9: go do it. But the team's going to try to
- 1:30:03Speaker 9: promote you, and the marketing team's gonna want you to
- 1:30:06Speaker 9: go meet every sponsor. I get that there's excitement. It
- 1:30:09Speaker 9: really wasn't me as much Taylor as much as the
- 1:30:11Speaker 9: Colt's organization. I had a great general manager and Bill
- 1:30:13Speaker 9: Pulley and who just said, hey, let this guy play
- 1:30:15Speaker 9: football first before you kind of start trying to use
- 1:30:18Speaker 9: him to promote the team and whatnot. And that really
- 1:30:21Speaker 9: helped me just kind of concentrate on football.
- 1:30:23Speaker 4: With your nephew, has he kind of taken that same approach.
- 1:30:26Speaker 9: That was kind of what my advice was. Look, you know,
- 1:30:28Speaker 9: he's my nephew. He reaches out to me, you know,
- 1:30:30Speaker 9: for questions, but his dad's been around the block. You know,
- 1:30:34Speaker 9: Cooper's giving him great advice. And I think he wants
- 1:30:36Speaker 9: to play. He wants to establish himself, you know first,
- 1:30:39Speaker 9: And you know, obviously I think they got a good
- 1:30:42Speaker 9: team this year. I'm a big fan of Quinn. I've
- 1:30:44Speaker 9: gotten to know him. He comes down to our camp.
- 1:30:46Speaker 9: The two of them get along great. So I'm proud
- 1:30:49Speaker 9: of him for staying there. Most kids probably transfer in
- 1:30:52Speaker 9: that setting, but he stayed there. He likes playing for Sark,
- 1:30:55Speaker 9: he likes the system, and when he does get in there,
- 1:30:57Speaker 9: he's gonna benefit from kind of having a little kind
- 1:31:00Speaker 9: newity in the system.
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, I know, it's my third one in
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: a row.
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: But you're good.
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: You know if you obviously calls you a lot, and
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: I know you and Eli have a big rivalry. Who
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: do you think he calls more?
- 1:31:10Speaker 9: It's funny, you know, like he's I mean, these these
- 1:31:13Speaker 9: nineteen twenty year olds, I mean, the text response rate,
- 1:31:16Speaker 9: it's not super high, right, it's not a rank completion percentage,
- 1:31:19Speaker 9: So I don't I kind of let him reach out
- 1:31:23Speaker 9: to me if he has a question. He came to
- 1:31:25Speaker 9: Denver a couple of years ago. We worked out. That
- 1:31:27Speaker 9: was fun, and he will every now and then text
- 1:31:31Speaker 9: me with a question about, Hey, a two minute drill.
- 1:31:34Speaker 9: This is what happened in practice today, And I'm sure
- 1:31:36Speaker 9: as soon as he texts me the question he regrets it.
- 1:31:39Speaker 9: Because you can't answer a question about a two minute
- 1:31:42Speaker 9: drill with a.
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: Text back just sure what the phone?
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: Who he is?
- 1:31:45Speaker 9: You have to go to the voice memo. You have to,
- 1:31:48Speaker 9: and it can't be just one. So you bang him
- 1:31:53Speaker 9: back with a seven minute voice memo response about about
- 1:31:56Speaker 9: the two minute about you know what the defense is
- 1:31:58Speaker 9: doing and the plays that you like. You got to
- 1:32:01Speaker 9: go to your staples. Yeah, it plays that you like.
- 1:32:03Speaker 9: And you finish it, and you're like, I didn't even
- 1:32:05Speaker 9: mention the fact that a defense after a time out
- 1:32:08Speaker 9: will probably come with an exotic blitz, so you better
- 1:32:12Speaker 9: call a max protection coming out of the time out.
- 1:32:15Speaker 9: And then you finish that when that's about a six
- 1:32:17Speaker 9: minute or and you're like, well, but I totally even
- 1:32:20Speaker 9: you know forgot about the red zone. Yes, and so
- 1:32:23Speaker 9: three voice membos later, send.
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: Me video back. Who do you think the favorite uncle is?
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: So, I don't know if he has one.
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: Uh, if you did.
- 1:32:34Speaker 4: Uh, I don't know.
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:32:40Speaker 9: I haven't really seen it. I mean, Eli's a good
- 1:32:42Speaker 9: uncle to my kids. He is, he calls them. Uh,
- 1:32:44Speaker 9: he's got nicknames for all of them, you know, the kids.
- 1:32:47Speaker 9: So I said, we're probably pretty equal.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: Yeah.

- 1:33:41Speaker 4: these shades five stars. With you talked about two minutes
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: and then there's so much poetry when you watch a
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: good two minute drill quarterback go down the field and
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: just pick a part of defense all the way through.
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: It's truly something beautiful. Is there a one two minute
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: drive that sticks out in your mind where you're like
- 1:33:57Speaker 4: you essentially played chess while the defense is playing checkers?
- 1:34:01Speaker 9: I mean I mentioned this this one against the Jets
- 1:34:04Speaker 9: my rookie year. Belichick's the decordinator, Parcels is the head coach.
- 1:34:08Speaker 9: They go to the AFC Championship. So I don't know.
- 1:34:11Speaker 9: We had a fourth and eighteen, which is that you
- 1:34:14Speaker 9: have them right where you want them right yea, and
- 1:34:16Speaker 9: it'sation and so it was fourth and thirteen and Belichick
- 1:34:21Speaker 9: went all out blitz and so we are not ready
- 1:34:24Speaker 9: for We're gonna get sacked whatever. We had a false start,
- 1:34:28Speaker 9: so that takes it to fourth and eighteen. So now
- 1:34:31Speaker 9: that's always the chess game. Does the defensive coordinator do
- 1:34:35Speaker 9: the same blitz on the next play, or since he
- 1:34:38Speaker 9: showed his hand, he's going to do something different. So we,
- 1:34:41Speaker 9: of course the two and twelve colts go, well, he's
- 1:34:45Speaker 9: definitely going to show the same blitz again. So we
- 1:34:47Speaker 9: keep eight guys in the block, saying, like, one guy
- 1:34:50Speaker 9: out on the route, and what does Belichick do? Drop
- 1:34:53Speaker 9: eight guys in the coverage? There's nobody open, and me like,
- 1:34:57Speaker 9: by the book, quarterback, hey, if nobody's open, throw your
- 1:35:00Speaker 9: check down. Probably not what you're supposed to do on
- 1:35:03Speaker 9: fourth and eighteen, right, But coach I was listening, I
- 1:35:07Speaker 9: was taking notes, and I throw this checkdown to Marshall
- 1:35:09Speaker 9: Foch and he breaks seven tackles and gets the first
- 1:35:13Speaker 9: down and then we go down oh away and throw
- 1:35:16Speaker 9: a game winning touchdown. So I always remember that one.
- 1:35:19Speaker 9: But yeah, the two minute drill. My advice to quarterbacks,
- 1:35:22Speaker 9: the pressures on the defense. They have the lead. It
- 1:35:25Speaker 9: really ought to be a time for a quarterback to
- 1:35:27Speaker 9: kind of free up a little bit, right, and let's
- 1:35:29Speaker 9: make the defense get tight. Right, Hey, we can't give
- 1:35:32Speaker 9: up this lead. Hey, let's better not blitz them. We're
- 1:35:35Speaker 9: gonna give a man a man. And so you want
- 1:35:36Speaker 9: to try to kind of lean into that a little bit,
- 1:35:40Speaker 9: but it means you've screwed up in the first three
- 1:35:42Speaker 9: and a half quarters to get to that point as
- 1:35:44Speaker 9: a quarterback. So it's your chance to get out of
- 1:35:46Speaker 9: a bad jam. But hopefully you can play a little
- 1:35:49Speaker 9: free in that situation because nobody really expects you to
- 1:35:53Speaker 9: come back, and maybe you can surprise the crowd.
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: Yeah, what coordinator gave you the most problems?
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: Patriots spell a check right.
- 1:36:00Speaker 9: Tryan was tough, you know, he just did things that
- 1:36:04Speaker 9: didn't make sense to me. I'm like, there's no way
- 1:36:07Speaker 9: he can bring that guy, and he would. I was
- 1:36:09Speaker 9: always looking when I watched the defense will Okay, you
- 1:36:12Speaker 9: know they're never going to bring the will linebacker and
- 1:36:17Speaker 9: the strong safety, so we can eliminate that. And then
- 1:36:19Speaker 9: you watch the Jets or the Ravens game against the
- 1:36:23Speaker 9: Bills and they bring that exact blitch and I'm like, dang,
- 1:36:26Speaker 9: you know.
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: And so.
- 1:36:28Speaker 9: I had a lot of sleepless nights getting ready to
- 1:36:30Speaker 9: play against his teams.
- 1:36:33Speaker 4: The uh We've talked about you getting on other guys,
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: and a lot of times when the quarterback, especially an
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: established quarterbacks, speaks up as an offensive lineman, you don't
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: say a fucking word. You just sit there. You take
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: it and maybe in the locker room say maybe please
- 1:36:46Speaker 4: don't yell at me in front of everbody like that
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: next time. But there was one situation when you were
- 1:36:50Speaker 4: at the Colts Jeff Saturday, yelling about running the ball,
- 1:36:54Speaker 4: which is every offensive lineman's dream. If you if you
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: can just run heavy the whole game, the pressure's off,
- 1:36:58Speaker 4: you can bruise it. And you walk over there, and
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: this is just I'm from an offensive line perspective.
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: You come over there getting jet.
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: And then you got four or five money. Can you
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: give him the whole listen, It's not that big of
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: a deal. It's not that big of a deal.
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: Come down that situation.
- 1:37:13Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean we were all frustrated. We had this
- 1:37:16Speaker 9: great drive to get down there, and we caught a
- 1:37:20Speaker 9: run play. You remember those days. We were a one
- 1:37:23Speaker 9: back offense. We never had a fullback. So the rules
- 1:37:26Speaker 9: were if the defense just put too many guys in there,
- 1:37:28Speaker 9: you got out of the run and you threw a
- 1:37:30Speaker 9: quick slant or a fade to Marvin or Reggie. And
- 1:37:33Speaker 9: so the rams they went to a you know, a
- 1:37:36Speaker 9: crowded line of scrimmage like on first down and second down,
- 1:37:39Speaker 9: so we threw through incomplete, and we had run the
- 1:37:42Speaker 9: ball all the way down to that point. And now
- 1:37:45Speaker 9: a third down, it's third and goal from the seven.
- 1:37:47Speaker 9: You throw again, so we go three straight incomplete. I'm frustrated,
- 1:37:51Speaker 9: but the line definitely is frustrated. So we're coming off
- 1:37:54Speaker 9: the sideline. I could just hear them over there talking
- 1:37:57Speaker 9: to the line, barely hearing.
- 1:38:01Speaker 4: Yeah, loud enough, you can hear it.
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I.
- 1:38:04Speaker 9: Don't know exactly what he's saying, but I know what
- 1:38:06Speaker 9: he's talking about. And you're just sitting there breathing. And
- 1:38:08Speaker 9: finally I just go over there. And as soon as
- 1:38:10Speaker 9: I get over there, I'm like, this is a bad
- 1:38:12Speaker 9: move there too, Oh my god, and they all stand up.
- 1:38:15Speaker 9: I got no backup. You know, Stokeley's going the other
- 1:38:17Speaker 9: way to the D B side of the bench and
- 1:38:20Speaker 9: uh so, yeah, I was miked up at the time,
- 1:38:23Speaker 9: and so that that that lives on forever. But Jeff
- 1:38:26Speaker 9: was my roommate on the road. Our lockers were next
- 1:38:29Speaker 9: to each other. My locker in the Coast locker room
- 1:38:32Speaker 9: was right in between the offensive lineman. You know, a
- 1:38:34Speaker 9: lot of times there's a quarterback sections, the receiver section.
- 1:38:37Speaker 9: I put it right in between the five starting offensive
- 1:38:40Speaker 9: lineman because those are the guys never protecting you. Those
- 1:38:44Speaker 9: are the guys who were talking all the time about
- 1:38:46Speaker 9: checks and audibles. I wanted them to kind of know
- 1:38:49Speaker 9: what I was going to audible too. I didn't want
- 1:38:50Speaker 9: them to be surprised, and so we'd sit by each
- 1:38:53Speaker 9: other on the plane rides. But yeah, that one certainly
- 1:38:56Speaker 9: lives on.
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: Lives on forever, you guys.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: I was going to talk about when it's all coming
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: to an end, like your mortality. Obviously you go out
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: with the Super Bowl, but you had the neck injury,
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: you had the you know, you had the things going
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: you had the things going on physically to where you're
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: throwing for like north to fifty touchdowns, you a run
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: forty touchdowns, and then that last year you kind of
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: know that it's your last year going out. Like, what
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: was it like for you when that mortality started to
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: set in? Like, damn, this game isn't forever, even though
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: I've played, Yeah, what felt like forever?
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:39:25Speaker 9: I mean I think you just you just kind of know,
- 1:39:29Speaker 9: at least for me, when certain throws that you used
- 1:39:33Speaker 9: to always make that you just don't make them anymore.
- 1:39:37Speaker 9: And the ball's not going where you're where you're supposed to.
- 1:39:41Speaker 9: You just sort of kind of go, hmm, that's that's different,
- 1:39:45Speaker 9: and and so you sort of accept it. And so
- 1:39:49Speaker 9: I think somewhere in my last season I kind of
- 1:39:53Speaker 9: knew it was going to be my last season. But
- 1:39:56Speaker 9: Derek Jeter, I'm just on a name.
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: Drop and roll here for good names out there.
- 1:40:01Speaker 9: I announced his decision to retire before his last season,
- 1:40:06Speaker 9: and he told me that he regretted that because the
- 1:40:08Speaker 9: whole season was a tribute to Derek Jeter, and in
- 1:40:13Speaker 9: a team sport. He said it got to the point
- 1:40:15Speaker 9: where he was almost embarrassed by it because he was
- 1:40:19Speaker 9: going to play in Milwaukee and they had a video
- 1:40:21Speaker 9: and they were giving him gifts, and he's like, it
- 1:40:24Speaker 9: was all about me and the Yankees didn't have a
- 1:40:27Speaker 9: winning season, and so he said, hey, if you ever
- 1:40:29Speaker 9: know you're going to retire, announced it the day before, decided,
- 1:40:34Speaker 9: and then announced it the next day and be done
- 1:40:36Speaker 9: with it. Don't do it before the season. And so
- 1:40:38Speaker 9: I always remembered that, and so I kind of knew
- 1:40:41Speaker 9: halfway through that last season this is probably going to
- 1:40:43Speaker 9: be it, but you just don't want to say it
- 1:40:45Speaker 9: because then it becomes kind of all about you. And
- 1:40:47Speaker 9: we had a good thing going. And so we got
- 1:40:50Speaker 9: to the super Bowl, and of course they asked you
- 1:40:52Speaker 9: right away that game. You kind of want one moment
- 1:40:56Speaker 9: just to enjoy that game. It was my eighteenth season
- 1:40:59Speaker 9: and you know, had a chance to win the Super Bowl.
- 1:41:01Speaker 9: You want to sort of enjoy that night and not
- 1:41:04Speaker 9: talk about you right away. So I tried to pivot
- 1:41:06Speaker 9: and said, I'm just thinking about drinking a lot of
- 1:41:08Speaker 9: Budweiser tonight. Everybody thought, oh, he's got this, but I
- 1:41:11Speaker 9: was really I had no relationship. You're not allowed to
- 1:41:14Speaker 9: have a at the time. A beer relationship is a
- 1:41:17Speaker 9: current player. I was just I was That's what I
- 1:41:19Speaker 9: was going to do that night. I was gonna drink
- 1:41:21Speaker 9: a lot of beer. I was just trying to get
- 1:41:22Speaker 9: him to stop asking me about retiring. And then and
- 1:41:26Speaker 9: then Tony Dungee had told me, he said, even if
- 1:41:29Speaker 9: you know, just take one more month, just to let
- 1:41:32Speaker 9: it sink in. Don't make some emotional decision. Remember Dick
- 1:41:36Speaker 9: Vermil kind of won the Super Bowl and he said,
- 1:41:38Speaker 9: I'm retiring and then he missed it and he came
- 1:41:42Speaker 9: back and coached the Chiefs, and so I took about
- 1:41:44Speaker 9: a month and then I decided in March that it
- 1:41:47Speaker 9: was going to be it. I was thankful for the
- 1:41:49Speaker 9: time I got to play. Most guys get injured, they
- 1:41:54Speaker 9: oftentimes it's not their decision, they get retired. So to
- 1:41:58Speaker 9: be able to do it on my terms, I was
- 1:42:00Speaker 9: at peace with it, and I was thankful for the
- 1:42:02Speaker 9: time that I got to play and the relationships.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: That I made.
- 1:42:06Speaker 9: I mean, you know, the equipment manager for Tennessee picked
- 1:42:09Speaker 9: me up today at the airport, right. I cherished my
- 1:42:11Speaker 9: friendship with him, the equipment manager for the Colts texting
- 1:42:14Speaker 9: me a picture of his grandchildren today. And so those
- 1:42:18Speaker 9: are my greatest takeaways from my time playing not a game,
- 1:42:21Speaker 9: not a throw. The friendships, as you guys know, with
- 1:42:25Speaker 9: your teammates and coaches there behind the scenes. The video
- 1:42:28Speaker 9: director here at Tennessee for me is now the video
- 1:42:31Speaker 9: director with the Broncos. And you talk about a guy
- 1:42:34Speaker 9: that's broken more film down for me, and you know
- 1:42:36Speaker 9: he and I are friends. So anyway, you don't get
- 1:42:39Speaker 9: to play anymore, but you still have those relationships.
- 1:42:41Speaker 4: Is there not a better group in a franchise than
- 1:42:44Speaker 4: the equipment guys. The equipment guys are the number one
- 1:42:47Speaker 4: cats everywhere we go. Guys, my boy Joey over there,
- 1:42:51Speaker 4: all of them.
- 1:42:54Speaker 9: Yes, those guys, I mean, you know, they have they
- 1:42:57Speaker 9: have what I call thankless jobs. I mean nobody, I
- 1:42:59Speaker 9: mean people to come to them when they need something
- 1:43:01Speaker 9: I needed.
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: Wasn't in my lockers exactly.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: I said, so show show appreciation.
- 1:43:06Speaker 9: I don't know how y'all did your clubhouse dues or whatnot,
- 1:43:09Speaker 9: but I was real big on, hey, take care of
- 1:43:11Speaker 9: these guys because, uh, they love football and they want
- 1:43:14Speaker 9: to win. So, uh, I still send my my clubhouse dues.
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: Do you really to the Cults and the Broncos?
- 1:43:22Speaker 9: No ship, Yeah, I'm I retired, and so I just,
- 1:43:26Speaker 9: uh yeah, because it's like, you know, they you know it,
- 1:43:29Speaker 9: don't obviously they're not, you know, I'm not seeing them
- 1:43:32Speaker 9: every day. But I'm just thankful for for them for
- 1:43:34Speaker 9: what they did for me.
- 1:43:35Speaker 4: Did you guys do flat rates or did you do
- 1:43:37Speaker 4: practice squad as? This much veterans or this?
- 1:43:40Speaker 9: We tried to kind of do it different ways. I
- 1:43:42Speaker 9: didn't necessarily like you know, sort of the public sign
- 1:43:46Speaker 9: up list.
- 1:43:47Speaker 2: Where they pass.
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: It was always Brett Kerran for us, who would sit
- 1:43:51Speaker 4: in front of the team. But here's how it's gonna go,
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: and just kind of label it for everybody. This is
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: where you're at, this is what you're putting.
- 1:43:56Speaker 9: Yeah, which is fair, yes, fair right, because you know,
- 1:43:59Speaker 9: I think young players don't realize what these guys are doing,
- 1:44:03Speaker 9: are staying there at midnight washing socks and jockstraps or whatnot.
- 1:44:07Speaker 9: So uh but it's a good it's a good tradition
- 1:44:09Speaker 9: and uh yeah, it's it's funny. I mean today I've
- 1:44:13Speaker 9: talked to both those guys today, so uh, great, great memories.
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: A good transition into tier talk, our tier talk. Oh
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: well you gotta you got I did.
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: But literally as soon as you said tier talk, my
- 1:44:24Speaker 4: brain like men in Black.
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: He was talking about. He was talking about like gift
- 1:44:28Speaker 2: giving our cheer talk we wanted to do with you
- 1:44:30Speaker 2: is the best Like in your career, your top three
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: gifts that you've either given a lineman, the team. I
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: don't know how you've gifted everybody, but your top three.
- 1:44:40Speaker 9: Top three, Wow, I guess, I mean you have to
- 1:44:42Speaker 9: probably ask them, I guess. Uh, you know, Jeff and
- 1:44:47Speaker 9: Tartlean and those guys. I flew them all to the Hawaii,
- 1:44:53Speaker 9: to the to the Pro Bowl, right you know, Uh,
- 1:44:55Speaker 9: that was that was kind of one of the first
- 1:44:58Speaker 9: things that I did. Uh, custom made Cowboy boots. Okay,
- 1:45:04Speaker 9: I mean you gotta understand now, this is this is
- 1:45:07Speaker 9: two thousand, two thousand and one.
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you flew the line to the Hawaii.
- 1:45:13Speaker 9: And there and their spouses. You know, I'm just saying
- 1:45:16Speaker 9: it's like, I mean, my homes like they're like cooler
- 1:45:21Speaker 9: things available now at least I guess, right, And so
- 1:45:24Speaker 9: mom is from the herd, Cowboy boots, custom made suits, overcoats,
- 1:45:29Speaker 9: you know, like always something fitted, you know, bring the
- 1:45:32Speaker 9: guy in electronics TVs. But it wasn't like it wasn't
- 1:45:38Speaker 9: a it wasn't a Christmas gift like it was you
- 1:45:41Speaker 9: had to have blocked well gift. Like one year two
- 1:45:44Speaker 9: thousand and one, we didn't make the playoffs and my
- 1:45:48Speaker 9: left guards like with no gift. This year, I'm like,
- 1:45:51Speaker 9: there's no playoffs. You know, you ever seen Team Wolf,
- 1:45:54Speaker 9: No Wolf, no part you know, no blocking, no gifts,
- 1:45:58Speaker 9: So like the rules change. I mean, you know, Tara
- 1:46:03Speaker 9: Glenn at one point was making my left tackle was
- 1:46:06Speaker 9: making I don't know, like twelve million a year used
- 1:46:09Speaker 9: to be quarterback. Take care of the poor old offensive line.
- 1:46:13Speaker 9: On the offensive lineman they're making bank. They're like, yeah,
- 1:46:15Speaker 9: God bless them like that, Like what is this watch?
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: I mean right, this is it's not even the best
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: role x out there.
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: This is right.
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: Yeah, offensive linemen OFFENSEI limon gotta get paid. That's a
- 1:46:25Speaker 4: good that's a good call.
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: Was there a how about this starting on line?
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: No, I took care of all of them.
- 1:46:31Speaker 2: Okay, here I took care of the wingman.
- 1:46:33Speaker 9: Uh, you know, the practice squad guys, and yeah, then
- 1:46:36Speaker 9: you start spreading out you got the tight ends, uh,
- 1:46:38Speaker 9: receivers and so yeah, like I felt like, uh, I
- 1:46:41Speaker 9: tried to show, you know, my appreciation for all those guys,
- 1:46:44Speaker 9: because you know, you're you know, sometimes receiving some of
- 1:46:47Speaker 9: the awards or whatnot, but those are the guys that
- 1:46:50Speaker 9: were making it, making it happen.
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:46:51Speaker 2: I'm walking over to Peyton's locker, like, hey, you got
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: anything for your boy?
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: For linebackers? Yeah, maybe for white metal linebackers.
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: Oh that reminds me.
- 1:46:59Speaker 9: No, never never never crossed over.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: We had not for pet Anger.
- 1:47:04Speaker 4: We had we had Josh Allen and we talked about
- 1:47:07Speaker 4: going to an empty situation. There's one middle linebacker that
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: you know is a liability and coverage he goes out
- 1:47:13Speaker 4: with your running back. Josh called it a milk check
- 1:47:17Speaker 4: white guy. I see him. That's why I'm staying in
- 1:47:20Speaker 4: the box around Yeah.
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: No, no, no, you it was it.
- 1:47:24Speaker 4: Did you ever have like a a listen, got an
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: over white guy out here? We got to take advantage
- 1:47:29Speaker 4: of this poor soul.
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: It's funny.
- 1:47:31Speaker 9: I mean, I think it's Zach Thomas a bunch And
- 1:47:34Speaker 9: that was the kind of thing we always sick because
- 1:47:35Speaker 9: he was always in the middle.
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: We were always like, you know.
- 1:47:38Speaker 9: I'm not sure if he can if he can cover,
- 1:47:41Speaker 9: can we just can.
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: We get him outside of the box, get.
- 1:47:43Speaker 9: Him out there? And he was just what you said.
- 1:47:45Speaker 9: He was so smart. He never put himself in that.
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you gotta know your weakness.
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: Checked out.
- 1:47:53Speaker 9: Sending the sam out there, the will out there.
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: Yeah, couldn't.
- 1:47:56Speaker 9: We could never get him in that spot. And maybe look,
- 1:47:59Speaker 9: he was just players, so he probably could have covered them,
- 1:48:01Speaker 9: but so we'll never know.
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: I guess no milk checks.
- 1:48:04Speaker 4: You talked about the gift giving is great. But one
- 1:48:08Speaker 4: thing that I've always appreciated you for was some of
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: the clips I would see about pranks you would do.
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: You'd want the pull boil, you empty the little thing.
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: Do you have any like top pranks you ever put
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: on guys in the locker room at you were like, man,
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: I've done it, just you know.
- 1:48:20Speaker 9: I mean training camp, everybody had golf carts. Coaches had
- 1:48:23Speaker 9: golf carts. We were always trying to get those moved,
- 1:48:26Speaker 9: you know, into like there was a little pond in
- 1:48:28Speaker 9: the middle of the training camp, had a little platform
- 1:48:31Speaker 9: out there. We got the golf carts moved out all
- 1:48:33Speaker 9: that One time, big trash can full of water leaned
- 1:48:39Speaker 9: against the door in the dorm rooms on the last
- 1:48:44Speaker 9: night or training camp when their bags are packed and
- 1:48:47Speaker 9: their luggage should be on the floor, right, you know
- 1:48:51Speaker 9: this is a yearly Yeah, oh yeah, last night last night.
- 1:48:53Speaker 9: I can't you gotta be last night. They got to
- 1:48:55Speaker 9: be packed because we'd say practice in the morning. I
- 1:48:57Speaker 9: kind of get up and say, guys, practice in the morning.
- 1:48:59Speaker 9: I'm telling you you don't want to get on the road,
- 1:49:01Speaker 9: so you know, I just go ahead and pack up
- 1:49:02Speaker 9: tonight it's a nice veteran and you lean that trash
- 1:49:06Speaker 9: can against that door, you know, about eleven thirty after
- 1:49:10Speaker 9: bed checking, you just you know, bang on that door hard.
- 1:49:14Speaker 9: And they opened that door and it's just a tidal wave,
- 1:49:17Speaker 9: the flood coming in. And like I said, you know,
- 1:49:20Speaker 9: if it only gets their dorm, it's not really good.
- 1:49:23Speaker 9: But when he gets that luggage, oh yeah, they're a
- 1:49:25Speaker 9: nice luggage that they've had. They got their picture with
- 1:49:28Speaker 9: their girlfriend probably on top of the bag. It's ruined.
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: It's trying to think.
- 1:49:35Speaker 9: Uh. And another guy, guy in Denver, who had a
- 1:49:42Speaker 9: had a picture of his girlfriend in his room. I
- 1:49:46Speaker 9: think it was like body paint of her, you know,
- 1:49:49Speaker 9: like I just it was an interesting picture to have
- 1:49:51Speaker 9: in training camp and we got it somehow, and we
- 1:49:57Speaker 9: had a security you know, you know, you have security
- 1:49:59Speaker 9: on the floor right and like these guys, you know,
- 1:50:02Speaker 9: they take naps like you know, eleven o'clock, and we
- 1:50:04Speaker 9: put that picture like on the security guard's lap, like
- 1:50:08Speaker 9: as he was sleeping, and that kind of caused a
- 1:50:10Speaker 9: little stir put the player like why does the security
- 1:50:13Speaker 9: guard have a my girlfriend and body paint? So uh,
- 1:50:17Speaker 9: anything to keep you know, keep things loose. You guys
- 1:50:19Speaker 9: know the grind of training camp. So just to make
- 1:50:23Speaker 9: things fun. But yeah, I miss that. I haven't put
- 1:50:26Speaker 9: a trash can full of water in a hotel room.
- 1:50:30Speaker 9: You want to mess with Eli, Eli's Eli's got some
- 1:50:35Speaker 9: got some prank game. He's big with the cell phone.
- 1:50:37Speaker 9: His go to move for years was you could change
- 1:50:42Speaker 9: your settings. You could change the language on your phone.
- 1:50:44Speaker 9: He'd like say, hey, will let's get a picture, you know,
- 1:50:47Speaker 9: and uh, I'll take it of YouTube first. And you're
- 1:50:50Speaker 9: taking your picture and he changes your phone to Chinese.
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: And now you can't get it out.
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: Now you can't, you can't pick it out.
- 1:50:58Speaker 9: Yeah, in general, in settings are Chinese. And now his
- 1:51:01Speaker 9: go to he is is a thing called text replacement.
- 1:51:05Speaker 9: The feature on your phone would be anything you text
- 1:51:08Speaker 9: often that's long worded, your address, your email? He what's
- 1:51:12Speaker 9: your email?
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:51:13Speaker 9: Text replacement. If you put you know, p, it auto
- 1:51:17Speaker 9: corrects to your email. But see it autocorrects to your address. Well,
- 1:51:22Speaker 9: you can make whatever you want to mean whatever you want.
- 1:51:26Speaker 9: So he changes the word yes on my phone to I.
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: Just sharded okay.
- 1:51:37Speaker 9: And so when my wife says, hey, are you going
- 1:51:41Speaker 9: to be home?
- 1:51:41Speaker 2: For dinner. You know, I don't quick?
- 1:51:44Speaker 9: Yeah, and she says actually, She's like, oh, I'm so sorry.
- 1:51:47Speaker 9: Are you okay? I'm like what what just happened? So anyway,
- 1:51:51Speaker 9: respect That's a good one. Don't mess with him.
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: That is a solid one.
- 1:51:57Speaker 4: What are this episode to bring you?
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: Let's lock in. Ope, they taped it. They taped it.

- 1:53:21Speaker 2: You guys have had so much success with the maning
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: cast on all productions and everything else? Is there anything
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: that is there something that you guys are doing different
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: this year that people can look forward to.
- 1:53:29Speaker 9: We decided this year we were talking about him earlier.
- 1:53:31Speaker 9: Bill Belichick is gonna be a permanent first half guest,
- 1:53:33Speaker 9: permanent in every game that we're doing this year. It's
- 1:53:37Speaker 9: going to talk about the defense. We got Niners Jets
- 1:53:40Speaker 9: first game. He'll come on and talk about you know,
- 1:53:43Speaker 9: the three things that the Jets are going to have
- 1:53:45Speaker 9: to do to stop Purty? You know what the Niners
- 1:53:48Speaker 9: is gonna have to do to stop Aaron Rodgers. He'll
- 1:53:50Speaker 9: be able to talk about, you know, maybe some coaching
- 1:53:53Speaker 9: decisions that might happen. Look, I don't enough people have
- 1:53:57Speaker 9: gotten to hear Belichick's brilliance, right, he never shared with everybody.
- 1:54:02Speaker 9: His players know. I played for him in two Pro Bowls.
- 1:54:05Speaker 9: I have a sense of it. But we've had rehearsals.
- 1:54:07Speaker 9: I come away as a smarter football fan after listening
- 1:54:12Speaker 9: to him, and he's witty and he's dry. He couldn't
- 1:54:15Speaker 9: tell in the rehearsal when we were live and when
- 1:54:17Speaker 9: we weren't a couple of times. So some of the
- 1:54:20Speaker 9: things he said when we were live and he thought
- 1:54:23Speaker 9: we weren't were great, And Like, if we could just
- 1:54:25Speaker 9: get that a little bit, Eli, I could just trick him, like, Bill,
- 1:54:28Speaker 9: we're not live, what do you really think right now?
- 1:54:30Speaker 9: So I don't know if we'll do that to him
- 1:54:31Speaker 9: as a rookie prank, But I'm excited about that because
- 1:54:35Speaker 9: he's Look, he's a brilliant football mind, and I think
- 1:54:38Speaker 9: viewers will have the benefit of hearing from him and
- 1:54:41Speaker 9: Eli and I looking forward. Plus he don't like Eli
- 1:54:43Speaker 9: because he Super Bowls Bill making fun of Eli's encouraged here,
- 1:54:48Speaker 9: So it should be a fun year, dude.
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: That's that's gonna be awesome. Is there anything over these
- 1:54:53Speaker 2: first few years that you kind of look at and
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: you're like, we need to get better in these areas
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: because obviously it's a new thing.
- 1:54:58Speaker 9: No, we do a study in the off season, just
- 1:55:01Speaker 9: like you do when you're playing. And look, we have
- 1:55:04Speaker 9: these guests on We've learned that when we're interviewing a
- 1:55:07Speaker 9: guest about why they love football and a big play happens,
- 1:55:12Speaker 9: we've got to cut them off or her off and say, hey,
- 1:55:16Speaker 9: hold that thought. I got to tell you what Aaron
- 1:55:17Speaker 9: Rodgers just did here. He just checked to a wide
- 1:55:20Speaker 9: receiver screen verse cover zero and they just gashed the Riners.
- 1:55:25Speaker 9: Eli and I weren't doing that enough because they want
- 1:55:27Speaker 9: to be rude. We want to enduct y'all. But the
- 1:55:29Speaker 9: fans have kind of spoken in our little study that
- 1:55:32Speaker 9: we did, and they said, hey, we want to hear
- 1:55:34Speaker 9: about the big plays that happened. And Belichick's going to
- 1:55:38Speaker 9: be a first half guest and then maybe just have
- 1:55:40Speaker 9: two guests in the second half. Try to have one
- 1:55:44Speaker 9: former player or a current player, and then maybe one celebrity.
- 1:55:49Speaker 9: Maybe just to have enough, you know, a football discussion
- 1:55:52Speaker 9: in the fourth quarter, and then maybe one celebrity. Because look,
- 1:55:54Speaker 9: the show, it's supposed to be different than the main broadcast, right.
- 1:55:59Speaker 9: They don't want just me and Eli talking, so we
- 1:56:01Speaker 9: have to be different. Those are our instructions. So we think, uh,
- 1:56:05Speaker 9: you know, being sure the guests are dialed into the game,
- 1:56:09Speaker 9: and being sure we're always talking about what's going on
- 1:56:11Speaker 9: in the game. So and then if Eli would just
- 1:56:13Speaker 9: stop making forehead jokes. It's been four years, it's it's
- 1:56:16Speaker 9: it's expired.
- 1:56:17Speaker 4: Gott to find new materials.
- 1:56:19Speaker 9: Yeah, you keep going back to the same stuff. So, uh,
- 1:56:22Speaker 9: those are a couple of things we want to work.
- 1:56:23Speaker 2: On a couple of things.
- 1:56:24Speaker 4: I know you're out of time, and I just want
- 1:56:26Speaker 4: to say thank you. This has been so awesome, the
- 1:56:28Speaker 4: stories have been amazing. I want to let you know
- 1:56:31Speaker 4: that we are also available every Monday anytime.
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: Yes, we have we have repeat guests.
- 1:56:37Speaker 4: Yeah. Just know that the boys got you.
- 1:56:40Speaker 9: You were voted uh high in our off season study.
- 1:56:44Speaker 9: People appreciated well, the bust and bump, the stories.
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: Yeah, the rating, a little painting at the end.
- 1:56:49Speaker 4: Yeah, see here there was a big jump here in
- 1:56:51Speaker 4: week eleven. That's guys.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: You get the paint.
- 1:56:54Speaker 2: You got No, we never got the paint. You got
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: the hang on, We get the Instagram.
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: It's on the Instagram.
- 1:56:59Speaker 2: I was going to say again, Instagram the colass.
- 1:57:02Speaker 4: But thank you for taking the time. Seriously, this was awesome.
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: We've wanted to get you on the show for a
- 1:57:07Speaker 4: long time. We appreciate you.
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: You're a legend.
- 1:57:10Speaker 2: No, no, really are Bro. My dad's gonna be fired
- 1:57:13Speaker 2: up at the cafeteria in high school. I battled to
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: the death for you. But once Tom got a couple more,
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: it's kind of like, but I'm talking every year, I'm
- 1:57:22Speaker 2: like vain coming out of my neck.
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: I like it.
- 1:57:25Speaker 2: But the boys got your back. Bro. Thank you so
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: much as thank you appreciate it.
