Transcript
- 0:01The dualities were pairs of opposites are recognized
- 0:06throughout the world as a condition of life.
- 0:10Night and day, positive and negative and all other dualities
- 0:16can be seen in material nature as well as in our Vital and
- 0:20emotional existence and in our minds.
- 0:24Electricity flows between positive and negative poles.
- 0:29The pairs of opposites are seemingly inescapable in our
- 0:33world. When people hear about escaping
- 0:37the dualities, therefore, they try to imagine endless light
- 0:41without Darkness, happiness without sadness, pleasure,
- 0:47without pain, they either conclude that this is an
- 0:50impossible task, or they try to create conditions to achieve
- 0:56these ends without, however, reaching any final conclusion.
- 1:02So, what do the spiritual texts me?
- 1:04When they say we can escape the dualities, they are not
- 1:08describing the actuality of these opposites, but the manner
- 1:13in which we respond or react to them.
- 1:17Human nature, react strongly to these opposites.
- 1:21And we thus moved from gladness to sadness from Joy, to sorrow,
- 1:26from exhilaration to depression in an endless cycle.
- 1:32As the Spiritual Secret develops and matures in his dealing with
- 1:36his life and nature. He begins to recognize that the
- 1:40solution lies not in changing. The nature of the world itself
- 1:45with respect to these dualities, but in the response, when
- 1:49provides to their existence, The Seeker then develops a variety
- 1:54of strategies to determine how to experience the changes caused
- 1:58by the dualities, but not be overcome by them rather To Be
- 2:04steady and accept them with calm, peace and equality
- 2:11achieving a constant steady state of equanimity.
- 2:13However, is not the work of a day.
- 2:17Spiritual practitioners may spend many years working through
- 2:20the various reactions. I'm still find that something
- 2:25upsets them when they least expect it, perhaps the death of
- 2:30a loved one or some failure in the Life Arrangements they have
- 2:34made and on which they are counting.
- 2:39As the evolved Consciousness develops and takes firm.
- 2:42Hold these. Disruptions tend to occur much
- 2:45less frequently and with less intensity.
- 2:48An example from an event at SRI aurobindo ashram illustrates
- 2:52this quite well, a Seeker reported that he had been living
- 2:57and working at the ashram and received a birthday blessing and
- 3:01message from the mother on November 17th. 1970. 3:00 in the
- 3:06morning, the message stated live within be not shaken by outward
- 3:12happenings It so happened that the Seeker went into an internal
- 3:17state of deep abstraction that day and overnight.
- 3:21He reported dreams that showed a tremendous Darkness, covering
- 3:24the Earth, followed by a flash of blinding light.
- 3:29He awoke and went to his position in the ashram early in
- 3:32the morning, and when he approached, he saw the entire
- 3:37facility lit up, even though it was still dark outside and
- 3:41unusual occurrence, which he had never experienced before.
- 3:46People were everywhere, he enquired and was advised that
- 3:51the mother had left her body on the evening of November 17th.
- 3:57Somehow the message of the prior day and the impact of the dream,
- 4:01led him to not react, meanwhile people began to arrive from all
- 4:07over the world in tears, as they entered the ashram to pay their
- 4:12respects to the mother. They entered through a line of
- 4:15children from the school holding hands to create a pathway
- 4:19through the ashram The older sadhaks were all sitting in deep
- 4:23meditation, around the samadhi, generating, a force of Peace.
- 4:29A miraculous thing occurred that all those who came in with
- 4:33tears, after passing the line of children who were radiant came
- 4:39out with peace in their hearts and without further tears.
- 4:44Their reaction to the event was changed from that of a normal
- 4:47human reaction to the death of. Not only a loved one, but a
- 4:52guide Guru and mother To that of the spiritual consciousness,
- 4:58that pervaded, the ashram at that moment.
- 5:02Dr. Dalal notes quote, because of the identification with its
- 5:08instrumental nature. The ordinary Consciousness is
- 5:11afflicted by the pairs of contraries, heat and cold,
- 5:15Pleasure, and Pain attraction, and repulsion, Etc, which are an
- 5:20inherent characteristic of physical, gold, vital, and
- 5:23mental nature. Ordinarily.
- 5:26Therefore, Consciousness is in a more or less constant state of
- 5:30disturbance and disequilibrium, contrastingly.
- 5:35The higher Consciousness is unmoved fixed or steady steerer
- 5:41to use another term of the Gita associated.
- 5:44With this quality of summit. Ah, Equanimity born of an equal
- 5:49response to the pairs of contraries and quote reference
