- 0:23off. God, we love you.
- 0:24We love everything about you, Father.
- 0:27Lead us through the text. God, give us your sound doctrine
- 0:31in theology. God, I pray that I can get out
- 0:34of the way. Give you center stage.
- 0:36I decrease as you increase. Holy Spirit, fill us today.
- 0:40Holy Spirit, I pray that you will supernaturally give us the
- 0:45zeal. Lord, let it consume us for your
- 0:48word. God, bind the enemy from off of
- 0:51our families. Bind the enemy from off of this
- 0:54time. God, I pray for supernatural
- 0:57clarity today. I pray for a hedge of protection
- 1:00around our ministries and around our families.
- 1:04God, I pray that you will supernaturally enable us to go
- 1:08out and do the work of an evangelist.
- 1:11God, help us, Lord, to be found in the harvest.
- 1:14Help us to be found with our hand to the plow.
- 1:17God, break up the fallow ground. God, rain down upon us and
- 1:22produce a harvest. We love you, King Jesus, it's in
- 1:25your holy and mighty and powerful name that we pray.
- 1:29Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 1:45And Adam knew Eve, his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain and
- 1:49said, I've gotten a man from the Lord.
- 1:51She's excited because perhaps all the promises that he had
- 1:56given her, that the seed would come out of her and crush the
- 2:00serpent's head, would be fulfilled in Cain.
- 2:03Let's see how it goes. Verse 2.
- 2:06And again she bore his brother Abel, and Abel was the keeper of
- 2:11sheep, but Cain was the tiller of the ground.
- 2:13So we see here Abel is the shepherd, and Cain is the
- 2:17farmer. Verse 3.
- 2:19And in process of time it came to pass that Cain brought the
- 2:23fruit of the ground at offering unto the Lord.
- 2:25So we're going to see what God thinks about these offerings.
- 2:30Verse 4. And Abel He also brought of the
- 2:33firstlings of the flock and of the fat of it.
- 2:37And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offerings.
- 2:40Why did the Lord receive Abel's offering and reject Cain's?
- 2:47And it is because it was the first fruits.
- 2:50It was the first of the flock. And so you can see here that God
- 2:55desires our very best. He doesn't want our leftovers. 5
- 3:01But unto Cain, and to his offering he had no respect.
- 3:04And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
- 3:07This is pride, friends, this is offence.
- 3:10This is what happens whenever we become angry and murderous,
- 3:15because we are offended. 6 And the Lord said to Cain, Why are
- 3:20you wroth, and why has your countenance fallen?
- 3:247 If you do well, should you not be accepted?
- 3:28And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door.
- 3:33And unto you shall be his desire, and you shall rule over
- 3:38him. This is a clear picture of what
- 3:42sin looks like. It crouches at the door.
- 3:45It's a roaring lion. It's prowling about, seeking
- 3:49those to whom he will devour. But we must master him.
- 3:53We must get on top of him. We must nip it in the bud in its
- 3:57infancy. We cannot let it grow into a
- 4:00mature offense. We cannot let it grow a root of
- 4:06bitterness. We cannot let anger and we
- 4:10cannot let this murderous wrath take a foothold.
- 4:16Friends, if you crack the door even the slightest, then you
- 4:21give the enemy a foothold, and then his whole body is coming
- 4:25in, and it will produce murder and death.
- 4:28It will produce this killing. 8 And Cain talked with Abel his
- 4:36brother, and it came to pass when they were in the field,
- 4:41that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
- 4:45Perhaps he lured him out there just to kill him.
- 4:49He had seen the way that the lamb had been slain, the first
- 4:54lamb, and he was knowledgeable of what it looked like whenever
- 4:59mankind was killing the animal. So he used the same method upon
- 5:04his own brother. 9 And the Lord said to Cain, Where's Abel, your
- 5:08brother? And he said, I know not Am I my
- 5:11brother's keeper? What a famous passage in the
- 5:14Bible. Am I my brother's keeper?
- 5:16God already knew. And it's the same as whenever
- 5:19Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden fruit and God asked
- 5:23them where they were, He already knew.
- 5:26But the reason he asks is to provoke a confession.
- 5:30And love covers a multitude of sins.
- 5:34And if we will be faithful to confess our sins, God will be
- 5:38faithful to forgive. And so here there was no mandate
- 5:42against do not murder. And God was provoking Cain to
- 5:48tell him the truth. But what did Cain do?
- 5:51He turned it around and tried to cover his tracks Tan and he
- 5:56said, what have you done? The voice of your brother's
- 5:59blood cries to me from the ground.
- 6:02You need to understand that the blood of the innocent cries out
- 6:05to God day and night from the ground, and God will avenge that
- 6:10blood. 11 And now are you cursed from the earth, which has opened
- 6:16her mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand.
- 6:20So this is a wonderful justice from God, because we remember
- 6:28that Cain was a farmer, and so now the very ground that he
- 6:33needed to do his work, to provide for himself was now
- 6:39turned against him. 12 And when you till the ground, it shall
- 6:46not from now on yield for you her strength, a fugitive and a
- 6:51Vagabond you shall be in the earth.
- 6:53So God sent him out as a wanderer, and said that the
- 6:57ground would no longer give him the produce, no longer give him
- 7:02the sustenance that he needed. Thirteen.
- 7:05And And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I
- 7:09can bear. So he was not remorseful, he did
- 7:13not go and confess and plead with God and tell him that he
- 7:17was sorrowful. He was only sorrow because of
- 7:21the punishment that God had given him.
- 7:23And he said it was too much. 14 Behold, you have driven me out
- 7:28on this day from the face of the earth, and from your face shall
- 7:32I be hid, and I shall be a fugitive and a Vagabond in the
- 7:36earth. And it shall come to pass that
- 7:39everyone that finds me will kill me.
- 7:43So you can see here that he was only worried about his own skin.
- 7:47You see the depravity of humanity from the very first
- 7:50offspring when sand entered into the world, from Adam and Eve's
- 7:55rebellion against God. And now they're seeing that what
- 7:59they reap is what they sow. And so they have Cain.
- 8:03And Cain is a murderer and he's self seeking and he's only
- 8:10worried about saving his own skin.
- 8:13And God has driven him from his profession and from his
- 8:18presence. And so now he's a wanderer and
- 8:21he's worried about dying to anyone who finds him. 15 And the
- 8:29Lord said to him, Therefore, whosoever slays Cain, vengeance
- 8:34shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark on Cain,
- 8:40lest any finding him should kill him.
- 8:43So God put a seal of protection upon Cain, and we could only try
- 8:51to guess at what this mark is that God put on it.
- 8:58But no scholar can accurately tell us.
- 9:02They can only sit and conjecture and try to put their own
- 9:06thoughts upon what this Mark May be.
- 9:09But suffice to say that this was protection from God. 16 And Cain
- 9:15went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land
- 9:19of Nod on the east of Eden. So this Nod was a place of
- 9:23wandering, and we're going to see what he did. 17 Cain knew
- 9:28his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch, and he built a city
- 9:33and called the name of the city after the name of his son Enoch.
- 9:37So here this is rebellion against God by building a
- 9:41permanent dwelling. When God told him that he was
- 9:44going to wander the earth, he rebelled and built this
- 9:49permanent dwelling and named it after Enoch. 18 And to Enoch was
- 9:54born Erad, and Erad had Mehuel, and Mehuel begat Methusel, and
- 10:01Methusel begat Lamech, and Lamech took unto him two wives.
- 10:08The name of the first was Adah, and the name of the other was
- 10:11Zillah. So we see polygamy practice
- 10:14first here from Lemac, and we're going to see this pride of Lemac
- 10:20creep up, and this is from the sin of the fathers visiting the
- 10:25children. 20 And outta bore Jabal, he was the father of such
- 10:34as dwell in tents and of such as have cattle. 21 And his
- 10:39brother's name was Jubal, and he was the father of all of such
- 10:44that handle the harp and the organ. 22 And Zilla also bore
- 10:50Tubalcane, an instructor of every artificer of brass and
- 10:55iron. And the sister of Tubalcane was
- 10:58Nama. So we can see here that out of
- 11:02this land of Nod, out of the city of Enoch, we see all of
- 11:08these arts pop up, from the art of keeping cattle to the art of
- 11:15music, and then the art of metalworking friends creeping up
- 11:20out of this city center pre flood, we see all of the
- 11:27rebellion against God creeping up. 23 And Lamech said unto his
- 11:36wives, Ada and Zilla, hear my voice, you wives of Lamech,
- 11:40hearken unto my speech, for I have killed a man to my
- 11:45wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
- 11:49So here he has this pride of actually killing a man. 24 If
- 11:57Cain will be Avenged Sevenfold, truly, Lamech. 70 and sevenfold.
- 12:04So you can see here that he is self-proclaimed and he is trying
- 12:09to justify the murder of a man. And we know as scripture unfolds
- 12:17there is no more mention of him. He is long forgotten, and this
- 12:22was only his own spiritual pride that was not to come to anything
- 12:29other than his demise. 25 And Adam knew his wife again, and
- 12:34she bore a son, and called his name Seth.
- 12:38For God said, He has appointed me another instead of Abel, whom
- 12:43Cain slew. So she saw Seth as the
- 12:46replacement for Abel and will end on 26 And to Seth to him
- 12:54also there bore a son, and he called his name Enos.
- 12:58Then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.
- 13:03So we see the first revival break out after we see so much
- 13:11sin creep in to the world from Adam and Eve's rebellion in the
- 13:17garden to being cast out. And now we see the sin of the
- 13:22Father visited upon the Son as Cain kills Abel.
- 13:28And then we see the lineage of Cain producing a rebellion
- 13:32against God. And now we see at the end of the
- 13:35chapter the first revival break out and people are calling upon
- 13:40the name of the Lord. Praise God.
- 13:42That is what we need in our time and in this hour.
- 13:45We need people to turn their hearts back to God and actually
- 13:50get serious about calling upon His name and relying upon Him
- 13:54for everything. I pray that that is your story.
- 13:57I pray that you are following after the Lord with all your
- 14:01heart, with all your might, with all your strength, with all your
- 14:04soul. And Lord, help us to love our
- 14:07neighbor as ourselves. I pray that you have been
- 14:09blessed by this chapter in God's Word.
- 14:12I know I sure have. I'm praying for every single one
- 14:18of you. I love you.
- 14:19We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 14:21God bless you.
