- 0:00But there are still a few things I don't understand, like why did Marge
- 0:03light at cheap Wig. I'm about how she got that black guy because I
- 0:07didn't want him finding out about the party. I mean, he's okay,
- 0:11but you know he brings Sarah and I just don't care for that one four
- 0:16finger discut, dude. Welcome to four figure Discount where this week we're here
- 0:35to review episode nine of season nineteen of The Simpsons. It is eternal moonshine
- 0:40of the Simpson Mind. I'm Dando and I'm Guy. That's why we're here.
- 0:43That's why we are here. I forgot. Yeah, it's been so
- 0:46long. So basically, as we discussed on going down to south like this
- 0:49week, and we discussed on the previous recordings, Guy and Dano took a
- 0:52holiday. I took a holiday holiday with the two kids. With the now
- 0:58six year old, haven't brought that alliot, we' talk about his birth down
- 1:00in a minute and a three year old. It was fun. We had
- 1:03shenanigans at the start, but we got there in the end. We went
- 1:08from the Dandy Knong's to Healsville, Heelsville and where one goes to heel Yes,
- 1:15exactly right, and you went to Bali and you've come back with a
- 1:17head cold. That is correct. Yes, I don't need to put any
- 1:19quote marks around holiday, because I actually had. I had a holiday,
- 1:22which I mean the Lovely Louise and the Sunshine. Admittedly, the Lovely Louise
- 1:26picked up a tiny dose of dengy fever which knocked her for six for the
- 1:32day, but then she bounced back just perfectly. Meanwhile, I soldier through,
- 1:36and then in the Wuhan lab that was my flight back, clearly picked
- 1:42up some kind of bug, but nonetheless soldiering on, powering through to bring
- 1:46you another episode of four Finger Discount, which I mean I made the memory
- 1:51joke before. It's because this episode is all about memory. Good episode,
- 1:53good episode, Yes, an episode that has been considered one of the best
- 1:59of the post Golden era, and an episode that Algae has quote marks today.
- 2:02Yeah, and an episode that al Geen has said that he thinks could
- 2:06have been the finale of the Simpsons Eternal Means of the Simpsons Mind. Is
- 2:09this an episode that you think would have been a satisfying ending to the Simpsons.
- 2:14No, I don't agree either. I can see why he might think
- 2:19that and he would have his reasons. I think if this was the finale
- 2:22of The Simpsons, I would be very disappointed. Yeah, I would think
- 2:24that if you were going to, yeah, wrap things up, it's not
- 2:29a bad way to go about it. A memory episode, one that allows
- 2:32you to go back and I don't reframe was acknowledging the past as well,
- 2:39Yeah, very much so. But I mean you can't do it just based
- 2:43on Homo. It has to be memories of every single family member. Well,
- 2:46I just thought for a finale for The Simpsons, for me personally,
- 2:47I know they always say they want to keep a short and sweet or it's
- 2:51just simple. Sorry. I want an episode that really explores the Springfield.
- 2:54Doesn't have to be a crazy story, but you gotta explore Springfield and just
- 2:58say your farewells. Wore the main side characters as well, absolutely, yeah,
- 3:02yeah, I mean the show has well, the show is still called
- 3:05The Simpsons, of course, but really it has become a bad Springfield,
- 3:07and I think we have become very accustomed to so many of of the town's
- 3:13residents. I mean, of course, our hearts are always going to be
- 3:15with Homer in Marge and the kids, but I think it's expanded a bit
- 3:20beyond that. Like the Grinch, our hearts have grown maybe three sizes.
- 3:23What was the Simpsons version of the Grinch? The Gruff? The Gruff was
- 3:27the gruff the Gruff, not the gruff Loo. It was a terrible character,
- 3:30remember it was that mascot, and then all of a sudden it was
- 3:32a real character because it started bleeding. Oh that wasn't good. Now I
- 3:37remember the episode and how much it sucked. Yeah, I don't know,
- 3:39but this didn't say I wish we'd had the forgive Me shot for that episode.
- 3:43What I will say is that this is the Homer that it felt like
- 3:46we all sort of or I grew up on where he's You know, he's
- 3:50lovable, but it's sometimes irrational, he's sometimes irresponsible. But at the end
- 3:53of the day, he loves his family and he's a good person. Yes,
- 3:55and any extreme measures that he takes are usually for the good of his
- 4:01family and even putting his own well being to the side. Now he's willing
- 4:09to make sacrifices for the people that he loves. Yes, he may go
- 4:13about that in a half assed or ham fisted way, but nevertheless he does
- 4:16it. His heart is in the right place now. The title of this
- 4:18film is a play of This episode is a play on which film. It's
- 4:23a play on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Is the story structure of
- 4:27this episode anything like that film? Not really, No, this is it
- 4:31borrows a little bit from it, but it borrows a little bit from a
- 4:33lot of things. This episode. There's a lot of references in this.
- 4:36It's Jim Carrey, right. It is a Jim Carry Kate Winslet movie because
- 4:40he went, didn't he he went through a phase where he was making films
- 4:42because at number twenty three he did as well. Yeah, not very good.
- 4:46I'm a serial killer movie. I think I've heard the best of my
- 4:47recollection. I've had mixed things. Yeah, I was. I never ventured
- 4:51into that carry. I was just like, you're always going to be dumb
- 4:55and dumbo. Carry to me, cable God, I don't want to see
- 4:57serious carry. Yeah, if you're going to get serious carry. This is
- 5:00probably one of the best Eternal Sunshine I mean, to my mind, it's
- 5:04that and The Truman Show are his best one something. It's fantastic for its
- 5:09own thing, isn't it. It's very much its own thing. But and
- 5:11it's also a really good combination of wacky Jim Carrey and more serious Jim Carrey.
- 5:15I think I could for me. You know how, we've all got
- 5:18ten films in our life that were just rewatch and never get sick of.
- 5:21Truman Show is one of those. For me. I'd say it's up there
- 5:24for mine, certainly, certainly in the top twenty five. Really fantastic movie
- 5:27and it still works today. Oh yeah, weird does not miss If you
- 5:30want to check out our review of the Truman Shows available on our Patreon.
- 5:33Yeah, that's a movie game. We did a really good review. I
- 5:35was really happy with that. We spent an hour just loving the film,
- 5:39just riffin, Yeah, just riffing good times. But that yea. The
- 5:42Eternal Sunshine is a very good movie. It's I want to say, it's
- 5:45dead serious. It's kind of weirdly funny at times, but mainly it's this
- 5:49bit of sweet romance between Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, who arrived for each
- 5:56other but completely wrong for each other, and the weird scientific experiments to go
- 6:00into it. It's certainly worth checking out, but it's not necessarily a laugh
- 6:04a minute. Okay, now, I mentioned earlier it was Elliott's birthday and
- 6:09the weekend, Happy birthday, Elliott. It turned six this week. Can
- 6:13you believe it? I've had listeners. Zach Prud our main man, our
- 6:15editor. He said that he still remembers when I was announcing that Nichola was
- 6:18pregnant on the podcast and now he's six. And I just love the fact
- 6:23that this podcast has almost become like a life diary of mine, you know,
- 6:26just an audio diary of my life, because we always band about our
- 6:28lives here and there throughout the show. It's not just all about the Simpsons,
- 6:30but I think about his birthday is right, so you know it loves
- 6:32his footy, right, So he's Nanny and Pops forward from England. Nicholas
- 6:38mom and dad got him some oz kick goalposts. So basically, for those
- 6:42of you at home who don't know what AFL is, basically it's our version
- 6:46of football at the version of yeah, and our goals are two big sticks
- 6:51and two small ones on the outside and these ones have the bases at the
- 6:55other basics so you can set them up wherever you want so you can practice
- 6:58this goal kicking. You kick it between the big sticks. You can it's
- 7:00six points, you get it between a big stick and a little stick,
- 7:01you get one point. Think it's the only sport in the world where you
- 7:03get a point for missing ball. Sport anyway, But so he participation ribbon.
- 7:09He gets these posts right, and we take him out and three of
- 7:12the four posts are broken. The clips the pins inside of snapped, And
- 7:15I was like, what the rebel sport? What are you doing to me?
- 7:18Rare ball? So I called him up. I said, can I
- 7:20bring it in? Replace it? Yeah? Sure, no worries, you
- 7:23can replace it. So go in there, pick it up, bring it
- 7:25back. He was like shatty because he's like, oh my god, I
- 7:27get to play footy. Is this one of your few interactions with the retail
- 7:30outfit where things actually went according to plant? So no, listen. So
- 7:33I go in there and they let me swap it. I get home and
- 7:38two of them are broken. At this point, I'm thinking and Alliott is
- 7:42so devastated because he just wants to play footy with these with these devastating I'm
- 7:46just hearing the story. Now I went in there and she goes walking off
- 7:49of you a refund or I can have them sent to your house, right,
- 7:54and a new set, and if those ones don't work, coming and
- 7:55we'll give you We'll just give you a full refund. So she goes,
- 7:57you can you can give you a refund, or we can get one more
- 7:59step. Our stores run of nane of them, right, Okay, might
- 8:01cold a bit one more try. Just as we're about to record today,
- 8:05the new box has arrived. So you will find out on next week's show
- 8:09whether these ones are fucking broken as well. And they are. I'm going
- 8:13to not namely shame Rebel Sport, but the product I'm not gonna name shame
- 8:16them yet. But if this one's broken as well, and the problem is
- 8:20I walked out the second time, went onto the website, looked at reviews.
- 8:22There's one review, one star. Now what it says, brought these
- 8:26for my son. The pins were snapped on the inside. Brought it back
- 8:30to the store. Rebel Sport were great, gave me a refund, gave
- 8:33me a replacement that was also broken. I was like, no, we
- 8:37don't have a problem with Rebel Sport. No, only they are doing their
- 8:39job right here. The manufacturer of these posts is asleep at the wheel.
- 8:45And you would think by the brand that it would be the top range one.
- 8:48So we'll find out next week's show whether this place gets named and shamed.
- 8:52Is it called where the Best Posts? No? No, it's basically
- 8:56when you think of who produces footballs af footballs Oh it's legit. Yeah yeah.
- 9:03If you're sharing around, we're sharing this information. Yeah. So I'm
- 9:09really excited to see whether I'm going to be angry or sad next week or
- 9:13happy. Let's find out. But you also received something else today? I

- 11:54you with the grim spector of death. But how could this pig bale jumper.

- 12:16to say is the word pimpals on the front isn't just sort of it's not
- 12:20a decast. It's embroidered. It's embroidered in. Yeah, it's really good.

- 12:54not Dan. Why can I tell you I'm not Dando. I can get
- 12:58some of your wants, So I'm trying to try to be more like Dander.
- 13:01My favorite but favorite moments of eternal mins of the Simpson mind, there
- 13:05were a few. I haven't written any, but I will say just from
- 13:09memory, I really like off the top of that Dyslexiaugh, man, I
- 13:15know it's making fun of people with dyslexia, but I thought it was quite
- 13:18funny. I think for me to put my tinfoil hand on, we need
- 13:22to get a lot less sensitive. Is why have broken Ourselves's broken up?
- 13:28Yeah, there's there's a lot that goes into that broken up. They haven't
- 13:33broken up. They've canceled their tour. They have canceled the tour. They're
- 13:35going to not do any creative enterprises for the immediate future. But they know
- 13:39why they had to do that, because every venue said we don't want to
- 13:41have you guys here. That is correct. Yes, there are there are
- 13:45insurance issues. Yeah, so that's why they've had to cancer the tour because
- 13:48there was no where to play anymore. Indeed, I look, there was
- 13:50a knee jerk reaction on my part. It did feel like Jack Black was
- 13:52throwing Carl Gas under the bus. There's probably there is always more to it.
- 13:56There is always at the end of the day, though, Jack Black
- 13:58needs I know, he's going to look after his buddies, but he'slso going
- 14:01to protect his own brand and himself. He doesn't want to be attached to
- 14:03this. He's a big brand now, he's Kung Free Panda, but he's
- 14:07also a bouncer exactly. He needs. You don't want to be losing that
- 14:09Mario money, mate, No one wants to lose Mario. No, I
- 14:11mean Kyle Gas or Mario money. He doesn't need Maria money, but it's
- 14:16Mario money. Kyle Gas said something he should not have said. I think
- 14:22we're doing a lot of bad faith readings here. I mean, are you
- 14:28honestly thinking that Kyle Gass is advocating for the assassination of Donald Try? Of
- 14:31course he's not. But you don't make jokes at that. Don't make jokes
- 14:35like that. You just don't do it. You don't do it, or
- 14:37you don't do it in this current, you don't do it on that platform.
- 14:45I don't know. I mean today's is the it happened, happen some
- 14:48days prior, or a little, a little, a lot reverent. What
- 14:52would you have said? If I don't want to get too political, but
- 14:56just what would you have said if a pro Trump, a Republican supporter musician
- 15:01made the same joke, if the assassination was of Biden, you'd call them
- 15:07a fucking idiot, probably call him a If Kanne came out and said,
- 15:11next time, don't miss Biden, what would you say, that's not cool?
- 15:16Same thing, I guess, But I wouldn't be calling for his cancelation
- 15:22or anything like that. I think a lot of people would be. Well,
- 15:28anyway, nothing about that. But what your favorite moment from the episode?
- 15:31Oh yeah, we're talking about favorite moments, yes, not favorite moments
- 15:33from recent history. What did I enjoy? I liked when Wigan was asking,
- 15:41well, there was the encounter with Wigham and Homer at the bar asking
- 15:46some questions all this, and then on the way out, Wigham said,
- 15:50okay, well who was Jack the Ripper? And Homer says was what the
- 15:54Queen's private surgeon. Yeah, yeah, I just love it. The end.
- 15:56Wow, I thought that was just an We're seeing so many it's truth.
- 16:02It's like a legend or something. I think it's become one of those
- 16:04printed legend things where you know, enough people say it becomes truth. Yeah,
- 16:07there's been enough people sort of talking about it and thinking, oh,
- 16:12well, no, that that that theory actually holds water. Yeah that.
- 16:15Oh, it's got to be someone, you know, who had real clout
- 16:18and who would have benefit from cover up. I don't think police work back
- 16:22in the late eighteen hundreds in you know, one of the seedier sections of
- 16:27London, a pretty easy gig, it would have been all that great,
- 16:30I think. I don't think they had Sherlock on the case back then.
- 16:33I don't think they had any rules though. They could just do what they
- 16:36want the cops. The cops, Yeah, probably, I think the gig
- 16:40would have been sweeter. Is like, there's no social media, there's no
- 16:41people pulling their phones out, feeling it was just ah, that guy fell
- 16:45over. You know, I personally think that any old smoke could have gotten
- 16:48away with five terrible murders. Yeah, I don't think it, but that's
- 16:53that's neither he yes, Yeah. What I did like was just the nice
- 16:57closer. Wow. I thought that was got because we've seen so many gags
- 17:00on The Simpsons recently where and some in this episode we've explained it, then
- 17:06explained it some more, and I was like, I don't think we needed
- 17:10that, and I'll get to that in the moment. But I've found the
- 17:12trend in season nineteen of The Simpsons is the we're going to list things so
- 17:18driving past stores and we're going to read it all the signs here. It
- 17:21was the ingredients of the forget Me shot. Yes, but at least the
- 17:25ingredients of the forget Me shot were it ramped up as it went. Yeah,
- 17:30but no pointless again, it was just the same joke, the same
- 17:34setup, speaking of trivia, oh trivia. Well, but I had more
- 17:37favorite things, okay, the more favorite things Okay. I enjoyed the shout
- 17:42out to the nineteen ninety seven motion picture of the game where Homer has his
- 17:48big fall in ads on something soft. Wait a minute, what and yeah,
- 17:52I thought that was I enjoyed that a whole lot. Two good gags
- 17:56on the bridge, good Bye Cruel World, and then Goodbye cruel World.
- 18:00Ad Middlely, it should have just been good bye crueler World. That would
- 18:02have worked fine. You should have just said goodbye crueler World. Had it
- 18:06make no sense and then had the truck driving Yeah, I Helma and also
- 18:11I'm not a bad troll gag involving Pattig and Selma. I thought that was
- 18:15good, although that doesn't really make sense. I know it's a slight little
- 18:18nitpick, but we had the joke of oh, yeah, we were pushing
- 18:23off because we thought you can land on the boat. Blah blah blah.
- 18:26They push him off, he lands on the boat. Then how are they
- 18:27on the boat? Maybe they jumped after him. Okay, you're picking knits.
- 18:34I'm trying to knit the pick. Yes, I'm just basically, that's
- 18:38not a big deal. Of all the things that have been wrong with season
- 18:41nineteen, that's not one of That is certainly not one of them. Anything
- 18:42else you enjoyed or just want to do some t This is just some trivia,
- 18:45and we'll get into it while we'll do the review of the episode.
- 18:47I reckon fine, next question, you there eating the beast, all right?
- 18:52My first question for you is what are the ingredients of the forget Me
- 18:55shot. Okay, I know there was triple sex, quadruple seck, the
- 18:59red part of that toothpaste aquafresh, aquafresh. And also the answer to one
- 19:04of my well, yeah, the answer to my question. What was the
- 19:08venom in the forget Me shot? It was from the Louisiana the bottom moth.
- 19:14There's something that I missed before the quad the triple sect though, there
- 19:15was a splash of yoga slow gin slow gins looe gin dunk from a dog's
- 19:22eye. Absolute pickle as well, absolute pickle. Yeah, not ginger and
- 19:26pickle. No, not ginger and pickle at all. Yes, to our
- 19:29supporters on pagion, like I did that your next question, okay, I'm
- 19:33not going to ask about the louis the Louisian lobottom moth anymo, I'd be
- 19:37silly. It would just be silly to do so. It would be like
- 19:40I forgot that this thing even existed. Buffoonery not sanctioned here at full.
- 19:42Have I sent you the I found a great sanctioned buffoonery not sanctioned meme.
- 19:48No, I'm going to send to you right now. Okay, then,
- 19:49but the rest of a question and the mean time, I'm going to ask
- 19:52you a question. What year did Grandpa Simpson have a horse to his tax?
- 19:56And that's my next question. This nineteen ninety eight, nineteen NINETYFLT.
- 20:00We're that like, you know, they're saying back in the day, and
- 20:02it's nineteen ninety eight. It's oh, that's right, it's that is nearly
- 20:06thirty years ago. Yeah, Oh, what was I watching recently? And
- 20:11as a nineteen ninety I was we're talking about DWN periscope, Nicolas, I
- 20:12don't think I've ever seen damn perisco I'm like, yeah. I was like,
- 20:15you're talking about the icon of Kelsey Grammar submarine comedy. She's never starring
- 20:18Rob Schneider, Yeah, exactly. And Jim Carrey's former wife, speaking of
- 20:22Jim Carrey, Lauren Holly, Yeah, yeah, coach star a dumb and
- 20:25Dumber exactly. What a lady. She's in the Adventures of Ford Fairlane.
- 20:29We're talking about Dapasca. I said, I think it's like twenty years ago.
- 20:30I was like ninety six, yes, or like twenty years ago.
- 20:33She goes, you realize that's twenty eight years ago, and I went,
- 20:36oh, wow, did you go? I was like, ah, I
- 20:41never stopped having those moments where that for you. Obviously, the eighties will
- 20:45always just feel like twenty years ago, right, oh yeah, yeah,
- 20:48but they're more like forty years Someone said to me, you know, Ave
- 20:52Levin. I'm like, oh, yeah, I haven't come up like fifteen
- 20:53twenty years ago. No, No, it's like, oh man, yeah,
- 20:56I've got a forty year school versary coming up this year for not not
- 21:02even for my not for my graduation, but for another year. Okay,
- 21:04but it's like, oh my god, it was forty years ago, and
- 21:08it honestly feels like yesterday. Jorsanly came out fifty years ago. I came
- 21:12out more than fifty. Where's my where's my celebration? I see a bit
- 21:18later, But yeah, that was that was my question to you. All
- 21:21right, what is the suicide Bridge? I thought it was a good gag
- 21:23here named after who oh it's former governor? It was it Cleveland, Chester
- 21:30Chester else suicide yes? Correct? Hey what does what does nerds stand for?
- 21:34When was that in the episode? Frank mentions it? Ah, I
- 21:37was not listening to that part. Well, it's according to him, it's
- 21:41an acronym for not even remotely dorky. Oh okay, then all right,
- 21:45now I believe it's time we get our beers out. Well, how about
- 21:48I give you one more question right then? Do it? Okay? Then
- 21:51I don't know if you'll get this. There might be a pretty tough one.
- 21:53When Homer is having his memories, there is a bit where he is
- 21:59worrying a T shirt from a particular program. Do you remember which program?
- 22:04No, it's not a TV program? What is? It's the witness Relocation
- 22:08program. Ah. Then I did like all of the speaking of like the
- 22:14flashbacks, I did like all the we're wearing these different suits? Yes,
- 22:17And so that's that's a play on a YouTube video and a YouTube videoles.
- 22:21No one takes a picture of himself every day or something for six days or
- 22:23something. Yeah, which was the first was the first time someone had really
- 22:26done something like that on the internet. Yeah? Yeah. It was like,
- 22:27Wow, magic things with cameras and video and that that music, what's
- 22:32the music called from that clip? I looked it up and then I forgot
- 22:37every Day by Karlie Commando. So that is like the perfect tune for that
- 22:41kind of video, don't you think, I think someone It just sums up
- 22:44life in general. Oh, life just goes by like that, like that.
- 22:48We're not going to get too moreland about no no, about the ongoing
- 22:51passage of time. And it's crazy to think though, like Alliott's six now
- 22:55where I think up until five, they still feel like little kids. But
- 22:59now that he's six, six just feels older. It doesn't feel like a
- 23:03little kid anymore. You know. I had to say it. But the
- 23:04cat's in the cradle Man Silver spoone little boy Blue in the end, the
- 23:10moon, the man in the moon chatman man. So I was speaking about
- 23:15getting the beers Thatt before, because time we talked about the stone cutters.
- 23:26That's right, it's the very very important people who do we always start off
- 23:29with first with the stone coats? Davis, Well, we zip that little
- 23:32pointer right on down to the letter G. That's a line from the great
- 23:34serial killer movie Man Hunter. By the way, Katy g k G.
- 23:40Is that person not a man Hunter? Maybe she is? Who knows?
- 23:44Maybe a man kty G very generously hands over. What are we calling us?
- 23:52Is it a gray nurse? Gray nurse? I'm talking cash. Oh,
- 23:57I have no idea, you know how we will assign various fruits vegetables
- 24:04and other things too. Yeah, like a pineapple is a fifty dollars,
- 24:07what's the robster is a twenty? It was green for the hundreds? What
- 24:11would it be? I thought I thought it was one hundred. I thought
- 24:14it was gray, like it was a gray nurse. No, it's green.
- 24:17You sure dollar ode undred? You don't pay me when the last time
- 24:22we saw a hundred dollars? One hundred dollars, one hundred dollars in Australia.
- 24:26Let's have a look. That's green what they call the gray nurse?
- 24:32Then maybe five hundred. Well, there's a gray nurse on it. It
- 24:34looks like maybe could be a picture of it is a picture of it.
- 24:37She's gray, and then she's old and she could be maybe a nurse,
- 24:41so that might be it. That'd be a sponge bed. This is all
- 24:45distracting from the fact that Katie g Yeah, donates one hundred dollars to your
- 24:51pals. Yeah, guy and Dan Dough every month. I'll be keeping those
- 24:53lights on, lights on, Yes, Katy Journing and also a man reser,
- 25:00man Elliott j O'Neill, and a man Zach Pruitt. And then there's
- 25:03a whole bunch of other names other people. Dan has got a written down.
- 25:07I should be able to them off the top of my head, but
- 25:10I just said four, and I'm struggling with the head. I forgot Jordan
- 25:12nol Man, Richie, I could never forget John, Jonathan Rossi, and
- 25:15Man haunts My Dream, Rach Beasley, Stephen Roberts, Sewn Dvpte Anderson,
- 25:19Timothy Belson, Andrew Davis, Ryan Dunlap, Kevin Dental Planned Flood, Shannanhofer,
- 25:25Bella Winder Baker, Jack McFadden. He that will be Adrick McLeod Lewis
- 25:29Cavanagh, matra evn Rhys, Roberts, Ginger and Pickle Preston, Murray,
- 25:33Tale and Riquez, Declan Phoenix, Brian McCoy, Josh Hellier, Logan b
- 25:37James Shepard, Joe Readensac, Dave Pretzels McNally, Gavin Lang, Damian Miller,
- 25:42and Isabella Murphy. Thank you so much for being top tier Stone Cup
- 25:45supporters of ours on Patreon for forfing a discount. I'm extremely grateful. Dana's
- 25:52slowly less grateful, always grateful, always always someone say eternally great, eternally
- 25:56grateful. So let's get into a review of the eternally meanshine of the Simpson
- 26:00mind. That's a very silky segue there, mister Dannel. Then. So
- 26:04the production code of this episode was kb F zero two Original December sixteen,
- 26:08two thousand and seven, Written by Jay Stuart Burns, directed by Chuck Sheets.
- 26:12Chuck Sheets, good name. I tend to do that after a big
- 26:15night on the on the urbs. What's that, Chuck Sheet? They're just
- 26:19no good for anybody after that shortboard gag was the capital of Montana is not
- 26:23Hannah, and the cash here was just the repeat of the one where it's
- 26:26just so basically they killed ninety seconds we thought before the episode started. Here
- 26:32they did full intro and that extended cash gag. I feel like this is
- 26:37an episode where you probably could have found time for more content. I think
- 26:40so didn't really need filler. You didn't know and the whole weird I think
- 26:45it's like, I don't know, you're explaining things too much to us these
- 26:48days, Simpsons. So the episode kicks off with its Christmas time obviously,
- 26:53is it Christmas time? Certainly seems it feels like it's wintertime. It's wintertime.
- 26:57Yeah, I think I think this is a Christmas episode. That's not
- 27:00actually that hasn't Christmas elements in it? Yeah? Because at that start music
- 27:06is Christmas dirt? Is it? Slab? Was Winter Wonderland? Isn't it?
- 27:11Is it wins ring? Are you listening the land? I don't know
- 27:15if it is just a winter wonder Land? They actually do they is it
- 27:21the actual music? Dir? Dirt dir? But is that the was it
- 27:30not? Maybe it's not? Maybe, Maybe it's just my mind was playing
- 27:33tricks on me. You just want to jump ahead six months and go to
- 27:34Christmas. I love Christmas. We watched a Christmas movie the other day and
- 27:37Nicholas like, can we watch Christas movies? Is it Christmas movie? It's
- 27:42for life, not just for christ? No, it was what was it?
- 27:47I'm of a Christmas Carl of course, yes, because we can't watch
- 27:51this one. It's not Christmas not motherfucker. You watch it whenever you want
- 27:52to watch it. What do we have these about to say? People have
- 27:57elliots in the riot here? But then you're sort of came out with that
- 28:00rejoinder. I'm like, actually he's got a point. But people have these
- 28:03sort of unwritten laws to themselves where they go, you can't listen to Christmas
- 28:07songs and watch Christmas movies a Christmas time, of course you can't. Why
- 28:10can't you? You can't have hot gross buns all year round? Why not?
- 28:15Because then them unless you're stock are you? Would you be inclined to
- 28:19stock up on like hot gross buns and having many times you want to freeze
- 28:22them? You have to freeze them. I'm not a hot cross buns really
- 28:26kind of guy, Nikola, that's how gross buns? Question of mine.
- 28:32You're hot gross buns. I'm good at making them. Oh okay, I
- 28:37didn't know what you were talking about. So the blimp here, Oh no,
- 28:41as he's going down, you've got scratted here and I reference. Yeah.
- 28:44People really like those ice age movies. Huh yeah, the first one.
- 28:48It's kind of like the Shrek franchise where the first couple were good and
- 28:52then they made they you kept making those things? Are the Shrek four?
- 28:56I sage? I believe there's five coming up on the fight the fifth three?
- 29:00Yeah, and then as we mentioned on South Like, I'm excited for
- 29:02it because I feel like it's gonna go back to its roots and forget that
- 29:03three or four never happened. Indeed, ever happened, I should say yes.
- 29:07But he gets attacked here, Paul scrat. That was like a he
- 29:10was a thing for a while, wasn't he scraped getting the start of all
- 29:12the movies. He just wants to bust that nut. He just wants to
- 29:15bust that nut. Get that acorn. Yeah, but he gets attacked by
- 29:18Willie speaking of nuts. And then but then will he gets stacked by various
- 29:22her scrats. Yeah, then we get Lindsay Nagel. Here she drives off.
- 29:26I like that. It wasn't just a random person. It was just
- 29:29it was somebody. Didn't have to be anyone important, just it was somebody
- 29:30that we know well, as we said, you know Simpson, the springfield
- 29:33is full of characters that we've come to know and love and identified it is.
- 29:36Indeed, she drives off, which causes the snow pile behind it to
- 29:40melt, and in his pile is Homer. And he wakes up and he's
- 29:44hung over and no more drinking. He arrives home at six am, and
- 29:47nobody is there. Where's Marge? Hey? Kids? Have you seen your
- 29:52mother? Were yourself? Then he says, maybe it's time a family bath.
- 30:00Really weird joke. Yes, I don't know about the family bath idea.
- 30:03I don't if we're having family baths with ten year olds and something,
- 30:08no, no, no, no, no no. If daddy's kids listening,
- 30:14kids watching, if daddy, if your dadd's asking you to getting the
- 30:17bath with him, or somebody, call someone you trust. Yes, but
- 30:22the dog attacks him as well, which we find at the end because he
- 30:25doesn't feed him, walk him, or take him out for a week.
- 30:26It's true, it's all dog wants in life. Would we grew to be
- 30:30a dog to be fed and to go outside and shiit? Just that's it.
- 30:33It's all ones. I suppose one two is not bad for me.
- 30:37He goes to Moe's here, Homer, he says, you know what's going
- 30:41on here? Why where is everybody? And Mo says no, Actually,
- 30:45I think he just walks in and says, was I here last night?
- 30:47And he guess, yeah, you were. You wanted to forget something.
- 30:48And I don't think we really properly touched on the story of this episode really
- 30:52where I did like the way that each sort of plot unraveled and made more
- 30:57sense as the episode went on. I thought structure this was a really well
- 31:00told story. Very yes, yeah, I'm one. I agree with you.
- 31:03I think it had a really good fat very yes, very much,
- 31:06so yes, okay, very much. But I'm happy with very yes,
- 31:10very yes, very yes. I just cut out the middle of man exactly.
- 31:11Do need it? Very yes, very yes. But the structure is
- 31:19good. The structure is I like a good mystery. And I thought this
- 31:22was because at times, like when he thinks Marge's cheating, you know,
- 31:26she's not going to be cheating. You know, there's going to be more
- 31:29to it than that. It's not who done? It is like why happened?
- 31:33Yeah, yes, let's make it, make this stuff seemed out?
- 31:37Yeah, why is going on? So he explains to forget Me shot,
- 31:40and he puts the video one where he explains the process, and then he
- 31:42pauses it and I remember this the ugly faces. I couldn't tell you what
- 31:47episode it was from with all the ugly faces, but obviously this one here
- 31:51and crusty and bursting. He says he wants to Forget Me shot as well,
- 31:55because yes, he thought he was going to do a Don Rickles about
- 31:57Arabs. He said, Mel Gibson abad me, yeah, when this was
- 32:00coming out at the time when mel was saying things he shouldn't be saying.
- 32:04Indeed, I think Mexican was the one race that he didn't offense. But
- 32:06Wigham then says that there was a domestic dispute at the Simpsons house of the
- 32:08night prior, and we get the first little flashback vision of Homer here and
- 32:13it's we're gonna talking to Marge. She got a black eye, she says,
- 32:15cause an Irish kid. Oh yeah, yeah, said We're get offended
- 32:19left and right? Mm hmm. What gives Simpson giving your wife an Irish
- 32:22kiss? No, it were it was my father. I walked into a
- 32:28door. Walked into a door. Huh. That is the lamest excuse I
- 32:32ever All right, door, you're coming downtown. Have you ever walked into
- 32:37a door? Yes? I have, actually yeah, because it's usually the
- 32:40bathroom door, because Nichola sort of leaves it half open, or ye's bathroom
- 32:45door, and then as I'm walking out of the toilet, I just sort
- 32:47of just turn around walked straight into it. Yeah, because it's always enough,
- 32:51it's always open enough for me to get in. But then when I
- 32:52turn around, it's like I take a wide turn and go boom straight into
- 32:55the side of it. This sounds like a you problem, right, But
- 32:59when I start walking to a door and walk into like the physical flat side
- 33:01of the door, it's the edge of the door, much like Wickham does
- 33:04here. Oh yes, I think it's always walking to the edge of the
- 33:07door, as I mean, I've walked into back doors before the glass windows.
- 33:09Elliott did an absolute beauty at a friend's house about two or three.
- 33:12So he was just running full power, I'm surprising, go through the thing.
- 33:15He just the house shock. It felt like good God. Yeah,
- 33:17and he's and he's at that age now where he gets embarrassed, so it
- 33:22wasn't necessarily hurt. But everyone turned and looked at him, and that hurt
- 33:25him more of course. Yeah, it was like the embarrassment of everyone's now
- 33:29looking at me. Emotional pain far far more scarring physical pain. Holy shit,
- 33:35can it be or what? But yes, and William's walking to the
- 33:37door, and Wigham reveals here in present time that it was Flanners who called
- 33:40it. In the jackpagade that we discussed earlier as well, Flanner says that
- 33:45he had to call him because he heard a hubbabub and as a Christian,
- 33:47he always assumes the worst. There was time for another memory, and it's
- 33:52Marge saying stop Homeber, please please stop, and something happens owl my eye.
- 33:55So Homer here thinks that, holy shit, did I hit Marge?
- 33:59And it's kind of dark. It's a little bit dark. I mean,
- 34:01you know it's not going to be the case, as you said, Yes,
- 34:04we know that that's not even the case. And Homer himself is even
- 34:07just oh appalled that this could even be on the table, could even be
- 34:13a possibility, even if he's got a skinful of whatever and crusty. He's
- 34:16getting beaten up like a pinata by not just Mexicans, a Costa Ecan as
- 34:22well, yes, like I'm supposed don't know so at the retirement castle.
- 34:24Now Home's going to visit Grandpa and he just wants to get out of there
- 34:28because it got the high school glee Cup. They're pretending to not hate the
- 34:30place, and they're singing whatever song of his can't remember, Oh what a
- 34:35night, what a knight? That's right, really really badly, indeed very
- 34:39yes, badly, but more half heartedly than anything else, which is even
- 34:43worse. You know that, Can I come to Lady was there as well.
- 34:45She was, Yeah, she's been drawn to more backgrounds Now and Scrape
- 34:49says, you eat our cookies, but you won't look at us. But
- 34:51then we cut to them both a krusty burger and Grandpa basically says, here
- 34:53he knows a doctor who can help you get your memories back. Homer says,
- 34:57how can I ever repay you? You can punch that orderly that's been
- 34:59sipping my juice. He punches the wrong guy. Actually, the guy what
- 35:02is He saved his life. So it turns out the doctor is just Frank.
- 35:06Okay, sure, And he's got these new devices at how people remember
- 35:09their their past and their best memory of their favorite memories. And they've got
- 35:13all the old people there, We've got the old Jewish guy remembering his first
- 35:15Christmas with a great Chinese meal. They're really trafficking in a lot of stereot
- 35:21so. By the way, Homer is very good at a job that I
- 35:24would really love to have, which is naming stuff. I mean the fact
- 35:29that he comes up with the names like what was it the the Deja Viewmaster?
- 35:32I thought that was pretty great. And also remembrance of things fast not
- 35:37bad. Homer, You're pretty good at this. Yes, the remember is
- 35:40not as good. No, no, but there's just another way to them
- 35:44for them to do their their classic season nineteen list things. But it was
- 35:47it was a rule, I'm not putting it down and saying you're doing it
- 35:51a lot. It sounds like it sounds like you're putting it down, But
- 35:53this one was a rule of three's more than anything else. Homer is now
- 35:58in his memory bubble. A bit wacky when you think about it, that
- 36:00Frank's got this device that can actually help you go into your memory. And
- 36:04that's true. It's actually a bit silly, I guess, but whatever.
- 36:07This is the Simpson we're talking about it. But so he's got this nice
- 36:09memory here of with the kids the snow and they're steering through everyone's sculptures and
- 36:15ruining their day, which a dick move, but you can buy into this
- 36:17family doing that. That feels like classic. It feels like early Simptons stuff.
- 36:22It really does. Yeah, the Simpsons go to the snow in season
- 36:24two, and this is what they do in the opening act. Yeah,
- 36:27and that even someone like Lisa, who's normally a little up tight and quite
- 36:30pious and all that was, would get into the fun of it, because
- 36:32it looks like they're all like one of them is that I don't know where
- 36:35that structure of the word love is. I think it might be in Philadelphia
- 36:37or something, but not that France or Paris. Oh, I don't know,
- 36:43fancy smanchy stuff. Yes, yeah, but it just seems like one
- 36:45of those Oh look at what I don't know, you'd be happy to knock
- 36:49that shit over. But then we get the cool vision of all the past
- 36:52episodes. I like this when he's going through almost like the Millennium Falcon hyper
- 36:54speed, hipped up speed, almost hyper vision hype speed, and all the
- 37:00all the images of just previous episodes. I like when it feels breaking the
- 37:04fourth wall, but it felt like an homage. It was. This was
- 37:07a more visually dynamic episode that we've had for a while. I think.
- 37:10Yeah, and a cust ton Chuck sheets him arriving at home and he hears
- 37:15that sounds like couch springs grooving to the bit of love. But if you
- 37:19arrived home and you heard that kind of sound and be like, hmm,
- 37:22what's going on here? Well, yeah, I mean, well, let's
- 37:24say I rocked up the Lovely Luise's place, and I heard that. I'll
- 37:27be like, what's going on because I've heard it at my place? Like
- 37:29someone's broken planning your surprise button? Well that's true. Yeah. He walks
- 37:32in and what seems like Marge's cheating on top of his TV guide of all
- 37:37things, and he needs help working out who is this person? What am
- 37:39we going to do here? How can I figure ot who it is?
- 37:40And he bark, but only smarter he gets Lisa, So he goes back,
- 37:44we had a weird gag about synergy commercial lost on me. Yeah,
- 37:47yeah, I imagine that what makes sense to our American friends? Probably?
- 37:51He then takes Bart too when he was ten, because Bart was seething,
- 37:53kicks but and he does then twenty year old home. It also kicks his
- 37:57butt as well. Then Homer starts choking him in the bubble, which results
- 38:00in him destroying memories, and he destroys the memory of his first kiss with
- 38:02Margeally gets a replacement, a replacement with the pooh do you think they did
- 38:07that gag? So that Homer doesn't remember? So because I can't recall it's
- 38:10the way we weren't, I believe it was called that felt like a retcon
- 38:15of sorts. Didn't it work? It's like they always loved each other.
- 38:19Do you think this was their way of sort of going, this is why
- 38:22they'll never remember He'll never remember it. I think it's a big stretch trying
- 38:25to introduce Cannon into this episode. What is it a bubble? I don't
- 38:30think that's gonna happen. It takes the kids to go see the scene where
- 38:32Marge sees somewhat cheating because they say, we're just representations of your kids.
- 38:36We're not really gonna take us there. When it scar us, he gets
- 38:38out of the bubble, but he can't see the face. He's trying to
- 38:40grab the face but just can't do it. Have you ever had a dream
- 38:44like that where you just want to see something but you just can't quite get
- 38:46there? Oh? Yeah, absolutely, Like why can't I reach this?
- 38:49Why I've had the teeth falling out dream? Have you had that one of
- 38:52those ones? I've never had that. I've had a couple of times.
- 38:53It means you're not getting enough sleep when you' stressed out. Yeah, the
- 38:57one I have the most is about to take the stage in a play and
- 39:00don't know the lines, don't know anything really. Yeah, I'm not sure
- 39:02exactly what that's about. That there's a common meaning for it, I'm sure
- 39:06because a lot of people have had that dream. But that's that's the one,
- 39:10not the one recurring one I have. But I have it often enough
- 39:15that the no I think about it and I remember it. It haunts me.
- 39:20It haunts me. But Lisa tries to explain having your brain to work,
- 39:24you know, with all this technical stuff. Basles just treat the same
- 39:27way we treat to tell it to hit the van thing. So they jump
- 39:30up and down, causing them to have a blood nose in the real world.
- 39:31And then it's revered that it's toff Man the murder of my children with
- 39:37the reason for my children. Stop, hom I please, I'm just giving
- 39:42into your wife. She is gonna be sort tomorrow. No, I mean,
- 39:46quits machinesy is I'm done. You've maybe realized that, you know,
- 39:50my life is not worth living. And then he goes to suicide bridge and
- 39:52we get the goodbye and crawl the world gag. Then Patty and Summer arrived.
- 39:57As you were mentioned earlier, trolls joked quite good and normally earned the
- 40:00bridge. Yeah, and they push him off, and I thought, that's
- 40:02really horrible. But there's got to be a reason. Like this episode,
- 40:05obviously there's reasons for things. At the end, they kind of spoil it
- 40:08where they go, oh yeah, yeah, sure we didn't. But I
- 40:10thought, maybe that's just also there. You could also say that they were
- 40:14just being silly as well, because what you'd like to think that Patty and
- 40:17Somewhere's characters wouldn't push Home off a bridge. It's a bit much, it
- 40:22is, isn't. That's there's I don't like my brother in law, and
- 40:27there's I'm murdering my brother in law. It's a very heightened kind of circumstances,
- 40:31right, Yeah, I mean it depends only, I guess the overall
- 40:36tone of the episode as well. I mean, one gets the feeling watching
- 40:38this it's almost like an anything goes kind of a scenario where it doesn't necessarily
- 40:45we're not played by normal rules, so excessive behavior or extreme behavior can be
- 40:51i don't know, sort of washed away by like nothing's really real in this
- 40:55one. Yeah, But then he gets pushed off obviously by Patty and Somewhere.
- 40:59We get the transition of his life flushing before his eyes, which is
- 41:01the six years a photo or death six years clip parody, which probably would
- 41:06have felt relevant when this episode first aired, and now it feels like a
- 41:08nice bit of sort of time capsule stuck does. Well. Yeah, I
- 41:10mean I don't think you really sort of get much stuff like that on well.
- 41:15I don't spend any time on TikTok. Maybe they do it on there.
- 41:16I don't think people keep many photos anymore. They take photos, get
- 41:20a new phone and just getting rid of discard. I think people just discarb
- 41:22memories just like that now a lot more, don't you think, Oh my
- 41:25god? Maybe yeah, because people go on my phone's full and need some
- 41:28space, I'll just delete memories. And it's like, what the monic.
- 41:31I always copy everything off my phone onto a hard drive first, because you
- 41:35filmed that memory for a reason. You wanted to keep it, So why
- 41:37are you deleting it so you can film fucking Kanye West at a concert?
- 41:42You know, I never get the whole film on a concert. It's gonna
- 41:45be on YouTube. Yeah. Just enjoy the moment. Enjoy your subjective experience
- 41:50or your enjoy your objective experience of this subjective moment. That's what I'm saying
- 41:53to you. Marge reveals that it's actually a surprise party she's planning for Homer,
- 41:58and now he's happy. All the different lines, just like, what
- 42:01does he say that the mother of my children and the reasons of my children.
- 42:06Yes, Duff is sponsoring with their new Duff Champagne, which is the
- 42:08beer of champagne. Yeah, and this is where she gets the black eye.
- 42:10It's actually the cork. No, don't have her, don't do it.
- 42:13It's home work out. Yeah, got a little excited and popped his
- 42:16cork a bit earlier. Yeah. And then duff Man gives her the ice
- 42:21pack. I'm giving it to your wife. She's gonna be sore tomorrow.
- 42:23And this is where Homer comes back to the real word. Thank god,
- 42:25I realized all this before I did something really stupid. He's falling, but
- 42:29he lands on the boat, which has it an air bag. What does
- 42:31he land on? Yeah, it looks like one of those big stuntman bags.
- 42:35Yeah. Yeah. And then everyone's having a great time. It ticks
- 42:37over eleven for the extra hour. Yeah sure, yeah, I can't lend
- 42:42you reveal here that that's what that's what he wanted to forget. He went
- 42:45to Mo's he wanted to forget the surprise party that was It's not even it's
- 42:49not even twist no, but it's just a nice swerve at the end.
- 42:51It's it's obvious. When you think about it, it's like, oh,
- 42:53yeah, that's a sort of working out. Well, fellows, If you
- 42:57got anything you want to say to hole my dad, he'll never remember.
- 43:00Say it now. Blue pants make it look fat. I'd never load your
- 43:02kids' names. Your I'm kemped. It is obvious you're bald, Your signs
- 43:07make noise. I find your small heads attractive. I've spitten every drink I
- 43:10ever served you bottom's up. Hmmm. The only problem is I'm sure to
- 43:16retain some image of coming home and finding duff Man, no doubt. Misconstrue
- 43:22that as him placing a cuckolds horns upon my bro and that will make me
- 43:27want to jump off a the love of God, make sure the party boat
- 43:30has a moon bones. Okay, then we cut back to Homer and what
- 43:35were some of those things? Was the blue pants make it look fat.
- 43:37I think he's car thinks he's hands less attractive or something. Yeah, I
- 43:40don't know. Again, that's just a reason to list things, listing things
- 43:43is it is fun in day Niicola loves lists, shopping list, this chop
- 43:46list. I'm like, I do so many to do lists, but then
- 43:50I never do anything to do list or all you do is make to do
- 43:52lists. That's correct, that's what you do to do. Make it to
- 43:55do list, Yes, cross it off. How then basically explains the story
- 44:00the episode and at the end is quick, make sure that the party boat
- 44:02has a moon bounce. A moon bounce is what it is. Yeah,
- 44:05because he knew that he would end up trying to jump off a bridge because
- 44:07of everything happened. Then he says, but why did Marge lie? Because
- 44:10you want beg them to find out? He brings Sarah. I don't care.
- 44:15Sarah's one of those characters that's always been in the show, but we
- 44:17don't really know much about it. No, the only when you say,
- 44:21Sarah, the only thing the thing I really think of is Clanty. Here
- 44:23was a remote. That's all I remember. Oh, thanky, Sarah.
- 44:29I get Superintendent Chummers on the phone. But yeah, so they went invited
- 44:35Patty and someone did they mean it? They did? They say they didn't.
- 44:37Who knows? And then he says what the dog attack me because you
- 44:40don't feed it? Whatnot? And then Duffman sucks up his name my best
- 44:44friend Homer since distus my secret gme, and Homer says to March, I
- 44:49don't want to have a drink because this is a memory that I want to
- 44:51remember forever, and it says the end question mark and an odd ending to
- 44:54have in a mid season episode. The end question mark. Yeah, I
- 44:59was like, I I understand it, ol Geen thought it could have been
- 45:01the finale, but I don't think it would have worked as finale. And
- 45:05b it's a weird ending to a mid season episode. The official Dando and
- 45:08Guy position from Forefinger Discount. We disagree with al Jean on all accounts.
- 45:19Mister Gene, you have lost the thing of discount vote, not completely certainly
- 45:23as far as this guest. By the way, just closed out with a
- 45:25very nice song by an odd name called bad Finger that was also my nickname
- 45:30in high school. It really wasn't but good Day out to Day, which
- 45:36other was a lovely song. Now, speaking of l Jean, he was
- 45:37spotted to a tweet I put out Now I put out a tweet recently.
- 45:40I wish had told me this before I threw al Gene under the bus we've
- 45:44put out. I was laying in bed the other night watching Simpsons on Disney
- 45:47Plus our friends at Disney Plus. And I'm not the only one that's thought
- 45:51this, but from DAYDA I've been saying, I wish just to encapsulate that
- 45:55feeling of the uncertainty in the eOne. I don't know what episode is going
- 45:59to be coming up on Channel ten. I don't have to go through and
- 46:00pick and choose and scroll through be giving that I'm just gonna scroll forever and
- 46:04never actually end up picking something, right. I just want to hit a
- 46:07randomized button. You throw it an episode out and I'll just watch it,
- 46:09just like the Good Old Days. Put on Channel ten. You know what
- 46:12episode it is, right, Disney Plus. When they had to respond,
- 46:15it went crazy, over a million views on Twitter. This this screen,
- 46:20this image that I put up. God said, I really wish Disney Plus,
- 46:22tad them would have a randomized button for the shows, and everyone's like,
- 46:24not just the Simpsons, for every show. Every streaming service should have
- 46:28a randomized button for shows that aren't serialized. Right. So I'm watching Big
- 46:31Bang Theory, I'm watching X files and I'm watching whatever shows. I just
- 46:35want to randomize button friends on Netflix. Just make it happen. Why is
- 46:37this not a thing? Right? So Algeaem responded, that's a great idea,
- 46:42and I was like, see the guy runs the Simpsons, it's a
- 46:44great idea as well. Right, lad Bible took this and they did their
- 46:47classic we're going to take someone's image and not really give them the credit,
- 46:51right. I was like, Simpsons fans are demanding this magage. You change
- 46:55to Disney Plus and you know what they called us in their little articles,
- 46:59Lad Bible. Twitter user five finger discount Twitter user Twitter user five finger discount.
- 47:09Not only did you steal my fucking bit, you style my image,
- 47:13you couldn't even get my fucking name right, and you didn't even tag me
- 47:15in it. These are words are not used too often. Use my fucking
- 47:21photo in your main image, didn't tag me? Called me? Twitter user
- 47:24called our podcast that's been going for ten years, one of the only sinces
- 47:30the podcast when I first started, one of the longest running Simpsons podcasts week
- 47:32on a week to week basis, we're a Twitter user five finger discount.
- 47:37I wasn't happy. I wasn't happy you have let down the good name of
- 47:39lad Bible. It takes a lot to get me angry. I was angry.
- 47:44Believe me, I'm working hard. Fix my fucking name up and tagus
- 47:47do some tagging. Do the right thing, lad Bible. We see with
- 47:54quality contact like that exactly ten years as a winner, like I know,
- 48:01Mindy still like I was like, oh cool, they do want to think
- 48:05about me. But when they get your name wrong, they don't like link
- 48:07to your page. It's like you're just You're just you're getting the hype and
- 48:10making all about yourself. It is poor internet etiquette. I mean, people
- 48:14listening at home right now, they go, will you post other people's memes
- 48:15on your page? That's fine. We always credit them correctly attribution. It's
- 48:21important if they and if we take someone's product or whatever and we're putting a
- 48:25picture of it up, we always link to their page anyway. Make sure
- 48:31you credit right people. Yes, ran over. I didn't think I was
- 48:36gonna rant this episode, but I did. But eternal move shot of the
- 48:37Simpson mind I would say the best episode of the season so far. I
- 48:40was pretty impressive. It's a different it's a different episode. It felt none
- 48:45felt evergreen, but it felt non canon. Non canon. Yeah, yeah,
- 48:50what's go what if you had season? What's what's the next episode?
- 48:52Oh god, it's that e Plu Rubus Wigham. I can't remember too much,
- 48:57but I remember it's apparently he goes for president or something. Okay,
- 48:59Well doesn't sound good. I don't think it does at all. Simpsons Season
- 49:02nineteen, what have we had so far? Let's make let's just see if
- 49:06this is the best one so far? What have we got here? We've
- 49:09scored back to episode one, so let's yeah, your name so he loves
- 49:14to finally dose Nay the Homer of Seville, Nay. Midnight. I liked
- 49:16Midnight Towboy, that had your man. Fuck. There's something about Mary Dylan
- 49:22Matt Dylan. Yeah, I don't know why. The cage bird sings now?
- 49:24That was okay. Chrissy doesn't moder little off of Millie was al right.
- 49:29I had a weird ending husband and knives. Yeah. Funeral re Fiend
- 49:31definitely the best episode of the season. When you're dealing with a whole lot
- 49:34of men. Didn't rely on to something that's is actually pretty good. It
- 49:37didn't need a guest star, just need fun format Simpson stuff. Yes,
- 49:42all right, so next episode of four Finger Discount from season nineteen, we
- 49:45shall be reviewing e Pluribus Wigham thank you guys for all of his sport At
- 49:49four Finger Discount. Don't forget, we're gonna be doing our monthly mailbag at
- 49:52the final Friday of every month. So if you want to send a question
- 49:53in it's mailbag at four finger Discount dot com dot au. You're on.
- 49:59You're on kind of a so I don't want to stop you, and you
- 50:00may stopped me. You may well have something different in mind, but it
- 50:05seems like you're racing towards the finish. No really, it sounds like the
- 50:09stuff you say at the very end of the episode. Yeah, but we're
- 50:13not going to do I was playing a trick on you. Well you did,
- 50:16but you also didn't because I saw it and I had to respond to
- 50:20it because I know you're a smart guy, and I know you've got everything.
- 50:23I know you've got your eyes dotted and your teas crossed. As a
- 50:27callback to when earlier, when I kept saying let's move on, You're like,
- 50:30oh, I've got more trivia, I got my favorite moments. It
- 50:31was a call back to that moment. Friend. Yeah, okay, we
- 50:36haven't even done what have you learned yet? That's true what I was doing,
- 50:39and we haven't done you name. I know, but I know the
- 50:43rhythm of the show, and I know your particular rhythms, and I felt
- 50:45like, let's steps a whole lot of stuffonds you got very confused. You
- 50:52can get touched with Ma Bake before we get this scat dot com dot you,
- 50:54but before we do it that, before we go to Davis. We've
- 50:58got some things, didn't we certainly did. We've got to do what did
- 51:01you learn from this episode? And we also have to do the guy Davis
- 51:05new names challenge? We do what do we learn? What did we learn
- 51:08from this episode? Mister Davis. Look, when you've given the opportunity to
- 51:13drop some racial slurs, split the difference, do it? Don Rickles on
- 51:15Mexicans? Exactly what I've learned that probably the least appealing kiss would somewhat be
- 51:22an Irish one. It sounds like right, yes, doesn't sound like fun
- 51:25at all. No, I haven't heard referred to as an Irish kiss before
- 51:30that. I mean, have you ever heard of the Glasgow kiss? Or
- 51:31is it the Liverpool kiss. That's a headbut okay, yeah, it's just
- 51:35that's violence. It's yes forward, your names will be all right, it's
- 51:43time for the Guy Davis New Name Championship. Are you excited? No?
- 51:46I'm just confused. Oh okay, well we current leader board stance at this,
- 51:51mister Davis. In first position, we have Jared Hornby on eleven points.
- 51:53In second position we have Adam Wollhouse on eight, and in third position
- 51:57we have a two way tie, Phil Hawkins and Cayl Muldoon, both on
- 52:01seven. I like your commitment to the bit that you're just not giving our
- 52:05man Hawkins that middle initial back until he earns it. Yep, all right,
- 52:09new names. Huh that's right, guy, that's right, new nas.
- 52:14One pint goes there. Best we forget. He's climbing further away.
- 52:20It's Jared Hornby now on twelve points. Oh my god, only on twelve
- 52:24makes him three clear of our men. Adam and second shoot one four clear,
- 52:29four clear. Okay, yeah, he's on eight. Adam will Houses
- 52:31on eight. Okay, Well, let's see what happens when I give two
- 52:34points two dotal recall dortle recall is Adam Wolhouse, so he's now too clear
- 52:40of Adam wal House. Adam's now on ten. It is important that you
- 52:45remember, folks, we are doing these blind. Yeah. I give Dan
- 52:49to the name I know. I give Dando my names, he gives me
- 52:52back the Okay, yep, yep, yep. That's all fine. But
- 52:55I don't know any names. I don't know anything like that. Just happens
- 53:00the way it happens, and so it's going to happen. Then I'm going
- 53:04to give three points two memento. It's a newbie, it's a newby.
- 53:10Who is it? It is Andrew Swan, Sweanty swanny Man. This is
- 53:15the first time he's on the leader board this year. Well done, Andrew.
- 53:16I love this menagerie we've got. We've got Swan, we've got a
- 53:19hawk, we've got a Woolhouse. And that's all I get. So the
- 53:23Liddle board now stands Jared Hornby still in first on twelve, still in second,
- 53:27Adam will House on ten. Unfortunately, Clever Cahale and Phil Hawkins are
- 53:30now three behind on seven points. Lift your game goes, yeah, lift
- 53:35your game indeed, and of course our men, Andrew Swan is now on
- 53:38a lidderboard in three points. Very happy for swan. Yes, here's the
- 53:40guy helping us with our discord. So if you haven't checked out that discord
- 53:44yet, make sure you do so and you find the link for that in
- 53:45the description of this podcast as well. But now we'll do the andro Is
- 53:49that right, properly out trait we've done. You're happy, satisfied? Well,
- 53:52I'm never satisfied, okay, but I'm sometimes happy. Oh, guys,
