Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to episode number seven of the
- 0:07Speaker 1: Ruffling the Feathers podcast. In this episode, week one is
- 0:11Speaker 1: finally upon us. Some teams are happy, some teams are not.
- 0:17Speaker 1: The vibe is immaculate in every city in the world.
- 0:23Speaker 1: except probably Miami, Florida. And joining me is my two co-hosts,
- 0:29Speaker 1: Supernova and Brandon. Gentlemen, what is going on today?
- 0:35Speaker 2: It's Labor Day. To be completely honest with you, I've
- 0:39Speaker 2: slept a lot today. That's not something that I get
- 0:44Speaker 2: much of an opportunity to do between full-time work and
- 0:48Speaker 2: full-time college, but I'm very glad that today is quite
- 0:53Speaker 2: literally a day of rest.
- 0:54Speaker 1: What is this sleep word you are talking about? Please
- 0:57Speaker 1: explain it to me.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Something that I have not had a chance to actually
- 1:01Speaker 2: sleep in past 8 a.m. my time and probably the
- 1:04Speaker 2: last double digit years. Oh man.
- 1:09Speaker 1: And Nova, how are you doing today, man?
- 1:12Speaker 3: Uh, rather rough here. Personal things got in the way,
- 1:14Speaker 3: but outside of a little incident, uh, Had a hefty weekend.
- 1:19Speaker 3: You know, I was at Jaden Daniels Stadium on Friday,
- 1:21Speaker 3: and then I was on the call, as I said
- 1:23Speaker 3: from the previous episode, at San Bernardino Valley College, and
- 1:26Speaker 3: gotta say, quite a hefty weekend all around. You know,
- 1:29Speaker 3: saw a couple of junior college updates, and obviously San
- 1:33Speaker 3: Bernardino Valley College. I'm just gonna go ahead and straight
- 1:35Speaker 3: up spoil it. They beat LA Valley 69-10.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. That might as well be an NBA-style game
- 1:45Speaker 1: for three quarters. Gee, Brent, I wonder what happens with
- 1:51Speaker 1: a team that's leading that much after three quarters. I
- 1:54Speaker 1: think they usually win, right?
- 1:56Speaker 2: You would think. You would think.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Yeah, you would think about that.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Another thing, shout-outs as well to Riverside City College, who
- 2:10Speaker 3: beat the number two team in the state in the
- 2:13Speaker 3: junior college leagues, Golden West, by a score of 20-17.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Okay, that sounds like a real good game right there. Yep.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Shouts to the Tigers.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Much better.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I mean, now, I'll also say this, because Nova, you've
- 2:29Speaker 1: done the high school reporting as well. I don't know
- 2:33Speaker 1: how you guys are on this, but at least for me,
- 2:36Speaker 1: with the high school game that I was announcing on
- 2:39Speaker 1: Friday night, that was a real football game because the
- 2:43Speaker 1: final score was only 7-0. And I know, I know
- 2:47Speaker 1: what you guys are thinking seven, nothing that sounds boring,
- 2:51Speaker 1: but no, it was defense. It was exactly what you want.
- 2:54Speaker 1: That nice old school knockdown drag out battle with the
- 2:59Speaker 1: only touchdown was a 56 yards catch and run on
- 3:03Speaker 1: a screen pass by a kid. Who's apparently a D
- 3:07Speaker 1: one athlete.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:10Speaker 3: That's pretty impressive. And actually I bring this up as well. Cause, uh,
- 3:14Speaker 3: On the Riverside TV's Friday Night Pep Rally, we did
- 3:17Speaker 3: mention there was a 7-0 score, and we might have
- 3:20Speaker 3: had it better than you did, Talon, because that 7-0
- 3:22Speaker 3: score happened in double overtime.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Oh, Brandon, I think he's got me there, dude. I
- 3:28Speaker 1: think he's got me. Double overtime to only get a 7-0?
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Double OT nail biters are always the worst to lose on.
- 3:40Speaker 1: That is true. But it's still, it just showcases that
- 3:44Speaker 1: even at the high school level, there's still those defensive battles,
- 3:48Speaker 1: those defensive struggles. I mean, hell, in that game that
- 3:52Speaker 1: I was announcing. Now, Nova, I don't know if you
- 3:54Speaker 1: know this off the top of your head. How many
- 3:56Speaker 1: penalties were in that game?
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Okay. There's a correct answer.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Where is it? Hold on.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I got it. There it is. Perfect answer right there.
- 4:14Speaker 1: At least in the game that I was announcing, there
- 4:16Speaker 1: were 26 accepted penalties, including at the start of the
- 4:20Speaker 1: second half. I kid you guys not, that game in
- 4:25Speaker 1: the second half, the home team got the ball. An
- 4:28Speaker 1: official play was not registered for the first two minutes
- 4:32Speaker 1: of the second half because it was just penalty, penalty, penalty, penalty, penalty.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Jesus.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Sure.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It was a It was ridiculous. But then you add
- 4:41Speaker 1: in also, there were two fourth down stops by the
- 4:46Speaker 1: visiting team inside the five yard line, including one at
- 4:50Speaker 1: the one yard line to end the first half. The
- 4:54Speaker 1: quarterback for the home team through two interceptions, one of
- 4:57Speaker 1: which was, I mean, he might've had Jameis Winston eyesight
- 5:03Speaker 1: because I swear on everything above and I'm not trying
- 5:07Speaker 1: to knock on a young kid But he did not
- 5:10Speaker 1: see this defender at all. It was like one of
- 5:12Speaker 1: those where it's like, oh, shit, he's there?
- 5:15Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 5:17Speaker 1: And the kid who intercepted the pass, he nearly had
- 5:21Speaker 1: a crazy one-handed interception later in the game that he
- 5:26Speaker 1: would have been in the freaking parking lot if he
- 5:31Speaker 1: would have caught that ball because that's how fast he
- 5:33Speaker 1: was running. He was still running as he was trying
- 5:36Speaker 1: to intercept it. It was that perfect. of a near interception,
- 5:41Speaker 1: but yeah, no. 7-0, a lot of good defensive struggles,
- 5:47Speaker 1: a lot of good stops on fourth down, a lot
- 5:49Speaker 1: of good third downsides. There was also a 38-yard field
- 5:53Speaker 1: goal that was missed. It was either wide right or
- 5:56Speaker 1: wide left, but neither here nor there. Still, 7-0, that's
- 6:01Speaker 1: the kind of game you want, like those old-school knockdown
- 6:05Speaker 1: drag-out fights. Now, if it ever happens in the NFL,
- 6:09Speaker 1: I can already guarantee what every person will say about that.
- 6:13Speaker 1: This was boring. I don't want to see punters all day.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Were you referring to the Patriots Ram Super
- 6:23Speaker 2: Bowl there?
- 6:27Speaker 3: No, I have a better answer. Vikings Raiders.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I mean, he's got you there, Brandon, Vikings Raiders. But
- 6:34Speaker 1: it's actually a good thing that you brought up that
- 6:37Speaker 1: Patriots ran Super Bowl, Brandon, because I said this right
- 6:42Speaker 1: before we went live, that there is something significant about
- 6:46Speaker 1: this day in sports and entertainment that I will just
- 6:52Speaker 1: preface this. Nova, you may know of what Brandon and
- 6:56Speaker 1: I are going to reveal, but you were not around
- 7:00Speaker 1: when this first happened.
- 7:03Speaker 3: And keep in mind, everyone watching at home, we are
- 7:06Speaker 3: recording this on September 7th, which is Labor Day.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so Brandon, what is significant about today's date in history?
- 7:16Speaker 2: The only thing that came to mind, and I couldn't
- 7:18Speaker 2: think about this when you initially asked, but there were
- 7:21Speaker 2: two things that came to my mind throughout sports history.
- 7:25Speaker 2: The least important of which that I can thought of
- 7:28Speaker 2: was Dan Marino throwing his 100th TD pass yesterday. I
- 7:32Speaker 2: think it was at like low to mid 40s games,
- 7:35Speaker 2: which was like an NFL record. And then I want
- 7:38Speaker 2: to say the other one, which is more important, was
- 7:42Speaker 2: I believe that in today's day and history was the
- 7:44Speaker 2: day that the NFL Hall of Fame was enshrined for Kenton,
- 7:47Speaker 2: Ohio specifically.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Unfortunately, those two answers are not what I was looking for. Uh.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Apparently on this day in 2001, so, and again, for
- 8:08Speaker 1: those out there that are Brandon's age and my age,
- 8:11Speaker 1: this Friday is the 25th anniversary of the 9-11 terror attacks, which,
- 8:19Speaker 1: I mean, Brandon, hard to believe it's been 25 years, right?
- 8:22Speaker 2: That's crazy, man. I was in fifth grade when that happened.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I was sick at home from school, and my mom
- 8:28Speaker 1: had brought my brother to preschool. And even better, my
- 8:32Speaker 1: family is New York, and 9-11 is my parents' wedding anniversary.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Whoop. Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Now, granted, they were married five years before 9-11, but
- 8:45Speaker 1: it's still– it hits closer to home. But, again, on
- 8:50Speaker 1: this day in 2001– It was a sweet, sweet day
- 8:57Speaker 1: in history. And for the first time ever, even though
- 9:01Speaker 1: it's seven episodes in, I'm going to break in a song, gentlemen.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I'm going to sing. The winner takes all. It's the
- 9:11Speaker 1: thrill of one more kill.
- 9:14Speaker 3: The last one to fall.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Yes, apparently today is the anniversary of the bubble bowl.
- 9:28Speaker 2: I need my boo button. I need my boo button
- 9:34Speaker 2: because of the Spongebob reference. The Spongebob reference was not
- 9:37Speaker 2: on my bingo card.
- 9:39Speaker 3: You know what we need?
- 9:40Speaker 2: We need an.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Incorrect buzzer sound. You know what you see on these
- 9:43Speaker 3: YouTube clips?
- 9:45Speaker 1: Oh, man, I should have gotten one of those. But yes, apparently,
- 9:49Speaker 1: according to the official Spongebob Instagram post, today, on this
- 9:54Speaker 1: day in 2001, Spongebob rocked the bubble bowl. So... I
- 10:02Speaker 1: don't know what that is. Again, Nova, you were too
- 10:06Speaker 1: young for that episode. That was the episode Band Geeks,
- 10:11Speaker 1: where Squidward has to perform with a band at a
- 10:18Speaker 1: Bubble Bowl, which Funnily enough, actually, that episode does have
- 10:23Speaker 1: a legitimate USFL.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Talk about a throwback.
- 10:29Speaker 1: It had a USFL football, like real life situations in
- 10:35Speaker 1: that episode. If I remember correctly, you had the Tampa
- 10:38Speaker 1: Bay Bandits of all teams, which also showcases like, wait,
- 10:44Speaker 1: the city of Tampa Bay had a team that wasn't?
- 10:47Speaker 1: involved with the Buccaneers? And the answer would be yes.
- 10:51Speaker 1: They had the Tampa Bay Bandits at one point.
- 10:57Speaker 3: All right.
- 11:00Speaker 1: But yes, it was definitely a fun day in history.
- 11:05Speaker 1: And I mean, Nova, I'm sure you've at least seen,
- 11:09Speaker 1: like from that episode, some of the many like quotes
- 11:13Speaker 1: or memes from that episode. The first one is Mayonnaise
- 11:20Speaker 1: and Instrument.
- 11:23Speaker 3: That's actually the first time I've heard that.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Oh, my God. All right. So I would like to
- 11:31Speaker 2: say we're only 11 and a half minutes into recording
- 11:34Speaker 2: this episode. And not only is my back hurting twice now, one,
- 11:39Speaker 2: because of the bubble ball reference, two, because it's been
- 11:42Speaker 2: 25 years since September 11th. but three because... That's actually
- 11:47Speaker 2: the first time I've heard that. Well, come on now, man.
- 11:51Speaker 2: My pain reliever's in the car, and I kind of
- 11:53Speaker 2: regret not bringing it inside now. Oh, Jesus Christ. And
- 12:00Speaker 2: a tricycle. What the hell?
- 12:05Speaker 1: Oh my God. I mean, look, it all paired is like,
- 12:08Speaker 1: that's great. But I can't, I can't believe he's never
- 12:11Speaker 1: heard of that line before. Brandon. That's like one of
- 12:14Speaker 1: the most, uh, what's the word? Iconic, iconic, iconic or
- 12:20Speaker 1: recognizable lines on that. Or like, um, I mean, but see, Nova,
- 12:27Speaker 1: when Brandon brought up that Super Bowl between the Rams
- 12:30Speaker 1: and the Patriots, that was the year that Stephen Hillenburg,
- 12:33Speaker 1: the creator of SpongeBob, had passed away. And there was
- 12:37Speaker 1: a whole petition to get, like, SpongeBob. I heard about
- 12:41Speaker 1: that one.
- 12:41Speaker 3: I heard about that one.
- 12:42Speaker 1: And then they.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Look, for lack of a better term, the NFL fucked
- 12:48Speaker 1: it up. That was a horrible halftime show. It was
- 12:53Speaker 1: only fitting that it was a horrible Super Bowl, even
- 12:55Speaker 1: though the correct NFC team was in that game. The
- 12:59Speaker 1: correct NFC team won that game, won the right to
- 13:02Speaker 1: go to that Super Bowl, mind you.
- 13:05Speaker 3: No, they didn't, first of all. I still think the
- 13:08Speaker 3: Saints got screwed over because the ref missed a no-call
- 13:10Speaker 3: in the Cal River. Nah.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Nah.
- 13:13Speaker 2: However... That's just biased because that man almost committed. That
- 13:17Speaker 2: man almost caught a murder charge on that defensive pass interference.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. I mean, I just don't think the Saints
- 13:24Speaker 3: can forgive Nickel Robey Coleman. However, I want to continue
- 13:28Speaker 3: what I say about the hat. It was the most
- 13:29Speaker 3: cursed thing ever because like three different artists turned that down.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Yeah, because it was right around the time of everything
- 13:39Speaker 1: that was happening with the protests and the flag and
- 13:44Speaker 1: shit that we don't need to, uh, re rehash or whatever. But,
- 13:49Speaker 1: but yeah, no, they, they, they ruined that SpongeBob. So
- 13:53Speaker 1: it was like, people were like, okay, we're going to
- 13:56Speaker 1: actually get like a good segment of this. And it
- 13:59Speaker 1: was literally like, what was it?
- 14:00Speaker 3: Brandon?
- 14:00Speaker 1: Like, like almost like a 10 second cameo or something
- 14:03Speaker 1: like that. It was like blinking. You missed it. And
- 14:05Speaker 1: I was like, that is how you're going to like,
- 14:09Speaker 1: bring this in. Like what the hell?
- 14:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and not only that, because of all the artists
- 14:14Speaker 3: turning it down, of course they had to turn to
- 14:16Speaker 3: Maroon 5. And then Maroon 5 just somehow didn't understand
- 14:20Speaker 3: the assignment?
- 14:22Speaker 1: No, they did not. But thankfully, that next year at
- 14:26Speaker 1: that Super Bowl, they got J-Lo and Shakira. And boy,
- 14:30Speaker 1: them hips don't lie.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Shakira, Shakira.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Shout out as well to Bad Bunny and J Balvin, too.
- 14:37Speaker 1: You don't know.
- 14:40Speaker 2: If he... If he don't know about the bubble ball,
- 14:43Speaker 2: he don't know about Shakira.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Are you kidding me?
- 14:47Speaker 1: It's on the radio all the time.
- 14:53Speaker 3: You still hear Hips don't lie on the radio. What
- 14:55Speaker 3: do you mean?
- 14:56Speaker 2: I'm talking about Shakira. I'm not talking about the song.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I'm talking about Shakira.
- 15:03Speaker 3: She's still mainstream.
- 15:05Speaker 1: She is still mainstream. That is a... A fair point.
- 15:10Speaker 1: But let's try and rehash ourselves back onto the tracks,
- 15:15Speaker 1: even though it's a lot of fun to just talk
- 15:17Speaker 1: about some random stuff. And who knows, you might find
- 15:19Speaker 1: something fancy during our next recording date for what's so
- 15:23Speaker 1: special about today in history.
- 15:25Speaker 2: But.
- 15:26Speaker 1: We did talk about football, and I think it's only
- 15:30Speaker 1: safe to say before we talk about week one of
- 15:33Speaker 1: the NFL and some stuff that has happened, of which
- 15:37Speaker 1: we will get into that later. Probably not. I don't know.
- 15:42Speaker 1: But we had to talk about the one game that
- 15:46Speaker 1: everybody was talking about, that everybody was losing their collective
- 15:51Speaker 1: minds over a little bit for good reason, too. What
- 15:55Speaker 1: happened at the end of the University of Michigan, University
- 15:59Speaker 1: of Western Michigan football game where the Wolverines were down 12-7.
- 16:05Speaker 1: They throw a Hail Mary pass, and it looks like
- 16:09Speaker 1: the game is over. To every single person in the
- 16:14Speaker 1: room and watching at home, the game was over, and
- 16:18Speaker 1: a MAAC team... beat a big 10 team and not
- 16:21Speaker 1: just a big 10 team a big 10 team in
- 16:24Speaker 1: the top 25 of the uh national rankings oh wait
- 16:30Speaker 1: i forgot to set the recording back one second guys.
- 16:33Speaker 3: That was so stupid when i first heard it like
- 16:38Speaker 3: you could see the clocks hit zero and apparently the
- 16:41Speaker 3: ref saw something different.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Evidently, because we do have the quote from the Big Ten,
- 16:49Speaker 1: and we're going to read it right now. The statement
- 16:52Speaker 1: from the Big Ten conference, which came at 1246, or
- 16:56Speaker 1: that might be 1248, I'm not 100% sure, 1248. This
- 17:03Speaker 1: is what they posted. Following video review, it was determined
- 17:07Speaker 1: Western Michigan's number 18 started his jump from an established
- 17:11Speaker 1: out-of-bounds position with his left foot and made contact with
- 17:15Speaker 1: the ball with one second remaining on the clock. As
- 17:18Speaker 1: shown in the provided video of what was viewed during
- 17:21Speaker 1: the replay process, a side-by-side view of the play and
- 17:24Speaker 1: the game clock using a direct shot of the game
- 17:28Speaker 1: clock in the stadium was used to determine the final ruling.
- 17:32Speaker 1: 85 minutes prior to the game, all broadcast cameras used
- 17:36Speaker 1: for the replay system, including the camera on the game clock,
- 17:41Speaker 1: are synced using a strobe system to ensure all cameras
- 17:45Speaker 1: are alive. Per NCAA Football Rule 4-2-3-A... Quote, a ball
- 17:52Speaker 1: not in player control other than a kick that scores
- 17:55Speaker 1: a field goal is out of bounds when it touches
- 17:58Speaker 1: the ground, a player, a game official, or anything else
- 18:02Speaker 1: that is out of bound or that is on or
- 18:04Speaker 1: outside a boundary line, and thus the clock is stopped.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Where do we start with that, guys? Where do we start?
- 18:15Speaker 3: Start in the comments section right there. It says we
- 18:17Speaker 3: had money on the game.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Good at it. Honestly, that is a good edit. But seriously,
- 18:24Speaker 1: like I watched this, that play. I watched it back.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I listened to the broadcast.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I listened.
- 18:32Speaker 1: They had fricking Terry McCauley on the call for that.
- 18:36Speaker 1: And even he is like, there is no, like we
- 18:40Speaker 1: have the clock, like our broadcast clock is synced to
- 18:45Speaker 1: the stadium clock. And we've got triple zeros on the board.
- 18:50Speaker 1: So I don't understand how they could add a second
- 18:54Speaker 1: back on the game clock. Like, I don't know.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Help me.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Help me, guys. Help me.
- 19:01Speaker 3: I had to bring this up as well because apparently
- 19:03Speaker 3: I got reminded of this on social media when it happened.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Around the time, and I appreciate this is bad memory
- 19:08Speaker 3: for Brandon because apparently there's this whole, well, Alabama shouldn't
- 19:12Speaker 3: have had a second to go ahead and get that
- 19:13Speaker 3: field goal against Auburn in the Iron Bowl. But that idea.
- 19:17Speaker 2: We don't talk about that. We don't talk about it.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure you wouldn't. But I got brought up
- 19:23Speaker 3: this argument because they're like, didn't the clock hit zeros
- 19:25Speaker 3: for that game too? So it should have went to
- 19:27Speaker 3: overtime and instead it should have never been that 57-yard
- 19:30Speaker 3: field goal that should have been attempted. But I just
- 19:33Speaker 3: don't get it.
- 19:34Speaker 2: It's like.
- 19:35Speaker 3: And there's this whole separate argument as well where it's like, well,
- 19:38Speaker 3: didn't Michigan pay Western Michigan or something to play in
- 19:41Speaker 3: this game? And now suddenly you got this whole controversy.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Because in my opinion, I would say I would challenge
- 19:46Speaker 3: this 100%.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Well, they did get paid apparently once million to play
- 19:54Speaker 1: this game, which, I mean, for a Mac school of $ 1. 5 million,
- 19:58Speaker 1: that is a hell of a payday. But at the
- 20:01Speaker 1: same time, I mean, look, I read even the Mac
- 20:06Speaker 1: conference president's statement And look, credit to them. They gave it,
- 20:13Speaker 1: you know, grace and aplomb and handled it, you know,
- 20:16Speaker 1: professionally and whatnot. But if this was me, I'm raising
- 20:21Speaker 1: holy hell. Like, there is no shot that if the
- 20:26Speaker 1: stadium clock is synced to the broadcast clock and the
- 20:30Speaker 1: broadcast clock is reading zeroes, Where do you find a second,
- 20:35Speaker 1: especially when it says 85 minutes prior to the game,
- 20:40Speaker 1: all broadcast cameras used for the replay system are synced
- 20:44Speaker 1: using a strobe system. So you mean to tell us
- 20:49Speaker 1: that one of the clocks wasn't synced.
- 20:58Speaker 2: So to me, my turn, um, To me, this is
- 21:05Speaker 2: to kind of tie along with the whole, you know,
- 21:09Speaker 2: Mac school paying to play Big Ten statement. This is
- 21:13Speaker 2: one of those, oh shit, we didn't think we would
- 21:17Speaker 2: actually come this close to seeing Michigan lose to somebody
- 21:19Speaker 2: like this. We need to save face for the college
- 21:22Speaker 2: football playoffs.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean, the way that they play, they
- 21:27Speaker 1: don't deserve to even be sniffing the college football playoff.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I mean, you are 20.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Michigan needs to drop it ranking after this.
- 21:36Speaker 1: You are a 27 and a half point favorite in
- 21:40Speaker 1: this game. And you, I mean, look to every person
- 21:44Speaker 1: in the world, Western Michigan lost today, Portnoy, Michigan one,
- 21:50Speaker 1: and we should all shut the fuck up. Yeah.
- 21:53Speaker 3: See, I want to add onto that. Why did the
- 21:55Speaker 3: Wolverines fans storm the stadium? I said, they want a
- 21:57Speaker 3: big game.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I think it probably was just the fact that it was,
- 22:01Speaker 1: you know, a miracle Hail Mary. I mean, I don't
- 22:04Speaker 1: agree with that either, where they just stormed the field. Like,
- 22:08Speaker 1: it'd be one thing if that was against Ohio State.
- 22:11Speaker 1: You get a Hail Mary and you storm the field
- 22:13Speaker 1: against Ohio State because that's your biggest rival. But in
- 22:19Speaker 1: a match like that, that honestly felt a little... I
- 22:25Speaker 1: don't necessarily want to say disrespectful or anything like that, but...
- 22:29Speaker 1: It damn sure came close.
- 22:36Speaker 2: It's... Can you imagine if, you know, before we start
- 22:40Speaker 2: moving on to the world of the lovely NFL, can
- 22:45Speaker 2: you imagine if this exact controversy happened with an SEC
- 22:51Speaker 2: team like Alabama?
- 22:53Speaker 3: That's why I brought it up, because I think about
- 22:56Speaker 3: the whole comparison, so it's like, Well, if that was
- 22:58Speaker 3: the case, why didn't the Iron Bowl go to overtime
- 23:00Speaker 3: instead of that one-second rollback?
- 23:04Speaker 2: Can you imagine if– no, exactly. Can you imagine if
- 23:07Speaker 2: in the process of Alabama playing against Eastern Carolina University
- 23:11Speaker 2: this weekend, if ECU, who has historically never had a
- 23:15Speaker 2: good football program, mind you– and I say that as
- 23:17Speaker 2: somebody who almost attended ECU– gave alabama a run for
- 23:22Speaker 2: their money like that like sure michigan's one thing but
- 23:24Speaker 2: imagine doing against somebody with like the the resume of
- 23:27Speaker 2: alabama like people would be setting buildings on fire like
- 23:32Speaker 2: philadelphia when they won the super.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Bowl i started to think how a first take segment
- 23:38Speaker 1: with steven a would have been like that because we
- 23:40Speaker 1: know how much he loves to talk about alabama Like
- 23:46Speaker 1: we know how much he loves to talk. We know
- 23:48Speaker 1: how much he loves to talk them up. I'm sure
- 23:50Speaker 1: he would have, he would have ripped them an asshole. Yay.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Fucking why? If that would have happened in Alabama, but
- 24:00Speaker 1: I also just want to throw out there. Cause Nova,
- 24:01Speaker 1: you brought it up with the, the iron bowl, still
- 24:04Speaker 1: one of the greatest, I know, Brandon, you probably don't
- 24:09Speaker 1: agree with it because Alabama lost that game, but the
- 24:13Speaker 1: broadcast for Auburn's radio team for that, one of the
- 24:17Speaker 1: best broadcast calls for a walk-off I've ever heard.
- 24:22Speaker 2: No, it was actually a very good call. It was
- 24:26Speaker 2: one of those, I love the whole embracing the moment
- 24:31Speaker 2: in the moment type calls. Those are like some of
- 24:36Speaker 2: the best color commentaries that anybody could have as like
- 24:40Speaker 2: a live play-by-play sort of thing.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and you always want a call like that to
- 24:47Speaker 1: be a thing. So to finally have– or to have
- 24:50Speaker 1: something like that happen, I'm definitely a fan of it.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I even heard Michigan's call– of like the, the hail Marion, even,
- 25:00Speaker 1: even their voices crack, but it's like, it's not the
- 25:03Speaker 1: same because it doesn't really feel like you really want anything,
- 25:06Speaker 1: you know?
- 25:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:09Speaker 3: That's why I feel indifference because like it brings us
- 25:12Speaker 3: this whole controversy that I'm pretty sure a lot of
- 25:15Speaker 3: NCAA fans on social media are not going to let
- 25:17Speaker 3: go for a year.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Yeah. This'll be a big old asterisk for the rest
- 25:22Speaker 2: of the season. Probably.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Probably. But let's actually just pull that up because I
- 25:28Speaker 1: do want to at least see who the heck does
- 25:32Speaker 1: Michigan play week two because this just shows how much
- 25:36Speaker 1: I follow college football. They play Oklahoma.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Oh, boy.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Michigan's about to start out the season one and one.
- 25:46Speaker 2: They should start at 0-2.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Getting ticket for that is $ 110 at the big house.
- 25:57Speaker 1: So that's going to be fun.
- 26:01Speaker 2: But that's your schedule coming up.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Yeah, they probably have a tough schedule coming up. But
- 26:11Speaker 1: now we get to move on to the good stuff.
- 26:13Speaker 1: We get to talk about the real football season. Week
- 26:18Speaker 1: one is here, guys. Are we hype or are we hype?
- 26:23Speaker 3: Depends on who you ask. I mean, obviously....
- 26:26Speaker 2: Go. Go ahead, Nova. Sorry. My bad, Nova. My bad, Nova.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 26:31Speaker 3: You started first. I see we're starting the whole debate
- 26:34Speaker 3: sections like this. But anyway, Talon and Brandon McGulf, see
- 26:37Speaker 3: you on my camera. I have my Ravens gear on.
- 26:39Speaker 3: I'm going to have it on again on Sunday. And, well,
- 26:44Speaker 3: we're going to have all various opinions. But I hope
- 26:46Speaker 3: you all at home can enjoy what we can bring
- 26:48Speaker 3: to your table every week. Because from now on, we're
- 26:51Speaker 3: going to be going through games. And for this week only,
- 26:53Speaker 3: it's just going to be predictions.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just going to be predictions this week, but
- 27:01Speaker 1: we also have to bring up one thing about week one,
- 27:06Speaker 1: and that's the get-in prices. We'll be doing that for
- 27:11Speaker 1: a little bit of fun, guys. So let's start with
- 27:14Speaker 1: the first game of the season. Let's do the kickoff game.
- 27:18Speaker 1: The New England Patriots at the Seattle Seahawks. A rematch
- 27:24Speaker 1: of the Super Bowl. That is one Brandon probably wants
- 27:27Speaker 1: to forget. Am I right?
- 27:29Speaker 2: Man, you could drive a semi through the holes that
- 27:32Speaker 2: we left in that line.
- 27:34Speaker 3: And believe it or not, usually these kickoff games are
- 27:36Speaker 3: on Thursdays. But for the first time, I think, ever,
- 27:40Speaker 3: It's on a Wednesday.
- 27:43Speaker 1: It is on a Wednesday because we have a game
- 27:47Speaker 1: on a Thursday. We still have a Thursday game, but
- 27:49Speaker 1: that one is.
- 27:51Speaker 3: It's Australia.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that one's Australia. But we get to talk about
- 27:57Speaker 1: the Patriots and the Seahawks. The line right now in
- 28:02Speaker 1: this game is Seattle minus 3.5 and the over-under is 44.5.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Brandon.
- 28:11Speaker 1: It's your team. So I think we need to have
- 28:12Speaker 1: the floor is yours. You lead us off with this.
- 28:16Speaker 2: So honestly, honestly, I realistically, if our offensive line has
- 28:22Speaker 2: improved any, I expect us to be a better game
- 28:25Speaker 2: than what we put up in the Superbowl. We've had
- 28:28Speaker 2: a lot of offensive line retooling. We've had, you know, we've,
- 28:32Speaker 2: we've kind of, you know, improved our wide receiver room
- 28:35Speaker 2: to be fair. We kind of really had a lot
- 28:37Speaker 2: of flight, you know, For lack of a better term,
- 28:39Speaker 2: our receivers are not what you would call household names.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Throughout the offseason, we did acquire A.J. Brown from Philadelphia.
- 28:46Speaker 2: We got Romeo Dobbs. Even though we traded off Kendrick Bourne.
- 28:51Speaker 2: I'm sorry. We traded off Booty is what it is.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Our wide receiver room is a little bit better than
- 28:58Speaker 2: what it was, but I still expect Seattle to beat
- 29:03Speaker 2: us fairly badly. even though they lost their best running
- 29:07Speaker 2: back to Kansas City, I believe. If Sam Darnold's still
- 29:14Speaker 2: on top of his game, if Seattle's still on top
- 29:16Speaker 2: of their game, if they're doing everything they can to
- 29:18Speaker 2: try to prevent that Super Bowl hangover, then the over-under
- 29:24Speaker 2: of 44 sounds about right. But I do expect it
- 29:27Speaker 2: to be a closer game than what we put up
- 29:28Speaker 2: in the Super Bowl. I would like to see A.J.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Brown come out of that with at least two touchdowns.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Gee, I wonder why he would want A.J. Brown to
- 29:40Speaker 1: get two touchdowns, Nova.
- 29:42Speaker 3: It could be for fantasy reasons, but then again, you
- 29:45Speaker 3: do want to get a good start for A.J. Brown
- 29:46Speaker 3: and his new team of the Patriots. I mean, I
- 29:48Speaker 3: think that's going to be the biggest question mark on
- 29:49Speaker 3: the offense alongside that offensive line because, you know, Will
- 29:53Speaker 3: Campbell still coming out of injury. There's been rumors of
- 29:55Speaker 3: him moving to guard and then obviously the case on
- 29:58Speaker 3: booty trade. Romeo Dobbs, I don't know how good he'll be.
- 30:02Speaker 3: And then there's this whole running back debate between Ramond
- 30:05Speaker 3: Trey Stevenson and Trey Fionn Henderson, although I think Henderson
- 30:08Speaker 3: should be the favorite to start. And for the Seahawks, yes,
- 30:12Speaker 3: they did lose Kenneth Walker to the Kansas City Chiefs
- 30:14Speaker 3: in free agency. They did lose a good amount of
- 30:16Speaker 3: their secondary as well. I think Kobe Bryant went to
- 30:19Speaker 3: the Bears and then got injured.
- 30:20Speaker 2: And then.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Yeah, not the out of Kobe. It's the seed Kobe. Yeah.
- 30:31Speaker 2: To also touch on it, for what it's worth, I
- 30:36Speaker 2: do not have A.J. Brown on any of my fantasy
- 30:38Speaker 2: teams at all whatsoever. I do have Drake May on one,
- 30:44Speaker 2: but I'm just hoping I get to see that the
- 30:49Speaker 2: Drake May, A.J. Brown chemistry is as what it has
- 30:54Speaker 2: been portrayed throughout training games.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Yeah, as you're wondering, I have Hunter Henry on fantasy,
- 31:00Speaker 3: and I'm probably going to end up starting him because
- 31:02Speaker 3: I don't know how much stock I could put in
- 31:04Speaker 3: a Pat Fryer move right now. But anyway, I do
- 31:07Speaker 3: think I do agree. I think during May, AJ Brown
- 31:09Speaker 3: connections got to be strong in order for the Patriots
- 31:11Speaker 3: to win this game. But also, they got to be
- 31:13Speaker 3: able to stop Sam Darnold, Jadarian Price, because Zach Sharpenay
- 31:16Speaker 3: is still in IR. You got to stop Jackson Smith
- 31:19Speaker 3: and Chikma somehow, AJ Barner. And then it's going to
- 31:24Speaker 3: be a tough game. We did retool our defense, and
- 31:27Speaker 3: it's pretty much just a copy and paste of last year. So,
- 31:30Speaker 3: I mean, I think it's going to be a little
- 31:31Speaker 3: bit better, but at the same time, I still wouldn't
- 31:33Speaker 3: be surprised if, you know, Seattle beat.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Us by two scores. It's still really hard to believe
- 31:39Speaker 2: that this is the same Sam Darnold that played for
- 31:43Speaker 2: the Jets that we would pretty much pick off four
- 31:45Speaker 2: times per game every time we played him. Yeah.
- 31:49Speaker 3: It's interesting how he developed into the quarterback. He is,
- 31:53Speaker 3: which thank you to San Francisco for initially starting that journey.
- 31:57Speaker 3: And then the Minnesota Vikings got him that opportunity and boom.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Now he's a three-year deal, a hundred million dollars Superbowl champion.
- 32:04Speaker 3: And he's still looking strong to this, to what we
- 32:06Speaker 3: hopefully should see in the 2027 season. Although that is
- 32:11Speaker 3: still to be determined because, you know, you never know
- 32:12Speaker 3: what you're going to have this season, but it should
- 32:14Speaker 3: be a fun game. And I, Do you think Seattle
- 32:16Speaker 3: will win? But I think, as you said, Brandon, I
- 32:18Speaker 3: think it's going to be a lot closer than people think.
- 32:21Speaker 2: For sure.
- 32:22Speaker 1: I agree with that, but we're all picking Seattle to
- 32:25Speaker 1: win this game?
- 32:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Against my better judgment, my realistic take would be that
- 32:31Speaker 2: Seattle is probably going to beat New England in the
- 32:34Speaker 2: opening games. What I would like to see, obviously, of course,
- 32:37Speaker 2: is the Patriots to win. But if the Patriots were
- 32:41Speaker 2: to win, I do not think it would be anything
- 32:44Speaker 2: closer than a field goal.
- 32:47Speaker 1: I mean, that's fair. So you think that New England
- 32:51Speaker 1: can at least cover the spread?
- 32:53Speaker 2: We can definitely at least cover the spread. Our offense
- 32:56Speaker 2: is tremendously better than it was last year. The only
- 33:00Speaker 2: thing that we have to do really is clean up
- 33:02Speaker 2: all the mental errors. And then Drake Mayne needs to
- 33:05Speaker 2: shake off whatever nerves he experienced in the Super Bowl
- 33:08Speaker 2: and just ball out again this year.
- 33:11Speaker 1: And do you think they go over under 44 and
- 33:13Speaker 1: a half?
- 33:15Speaker 2: I think if they come close to the spread, it'll
- 33:17Speaker 2: be under. I would probably say it would be at
- 33:22Speaker 2: least 37 to 38 would be the spread. But if
- 33:25Speaker 2: they do go over, it'll probably be a higher octane
- 33:28Speaker 2: game on both sides.
- 33:30Speaker 1: And what about you, Nova? Do you think they cover
- 33:33Speaker 1: the spread of three and a half and over under?
- 33:37Speaker 3: See, I'm still relatively new to those gambling odds, so
- 33:40Speaker 3: I might not have the best of information or the
- 33:42Speaker 3: best of knowledge about the information yet. If someone could
- 33:46Speaker 3: type that for me in the chat, I could give
- 33:48Speaker 3: an easier answer about somebody explaining it to me.
- 33:52Speaker 1: So basically with a spread being minus three and a half,
- 33:57Speaker 1: that means that the Seahawks have to win by four
- 34:00Speaker 1: or more to cover. If they win by three or less,
- 34:05Speaker 1: tie or New England wins, it's New England outright.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Yeah, somebody's going to put that in a private chat
- 34:15Speaker 3: so I don't have to ask again, but I think
- 34:19Speaker 3: the spread can be... I don't think the spread's going
- 34:21Speaker 3: to be huge. I think Seattle wins by at least four.
- 34:24Speaker 3: I think they win by at least four.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Okay. So that means the spread is yes. And do
- 34:31Speaker 1: you think the total points will be over or under 44.5?
- 34:35Speaker 2: Under.
- 34:37Speaker 1: I'm kind of in the same way. I think I'm.
- 34:39Speaker 3: Hoping Hunter Henry gets a red zone touchdown because Brandon,
- 34:42Speaker 3: you know, he's high on Hunter Henry doing that, but
- 34:44Speaker 3: who knows about this dark side defense. Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, I love Hunter Henry. He's definitely been
- 34:50Speaker 2: the favorite red zone target.
- 34:53Speaker 1: And the fun thing about this, because like Brandon said
- 34:56Speaker 1: that he has nobody in fantasy for this. I've got
- 34:59Speaker 1: the Seattle defense and JSA.
- 35:03Speaker 3: And I'm over here.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Oh, you want them to go ballistic. Get out of
- 35:06Speaker 2: here with your bias. You can't get their defense at JSN.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Go on, get.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Well, it's one in two leagues. So I have JSN
- 35:16Speaker 1: in one league and the Seahawks defense in a second league.
- 35:19Speaker 1: I'm in three leagues, not counting all of them.
- 35:22Speaker 2: I thought you were going to say something. I was
- 35:23Speaker 2: about to be like, nah, you just want them to
- 35:25Speaker 2: go ballistic on us. What are you talking about?
- 35:28Speaker 3: And I'm the one over here favoring Brandon because I
- 35:29Speaker 3: have Hunter Henry. Alright, well. Also, yes, I expect this
- 35:35Speaker 3: to be a normal thing about this episode and the
- 35:37Speaker 3: future ones going forward. We may have ruffling the failure
- 35:40Speaker 3: segments indirectly in these predictions.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Eh, maybe. But let's move on to the Thursday night game.
- 35:50Speaker 1: All the way from Melbourne, Australia, Mike. We're going to
- 35:55Speaker 1: go have some Outback Steakhouse with some Bloomin' Onions because
- 36:00Speaker 1: the Los Angeles Rams are hosting Brandon's favorite team, the
- 36:05Speaker 1: San Francisco Electric Substation.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 36:11Speaker 3: I actually need to bring this up as well. Apparently,
- 36:13Speaker 3: the Niners, as they reportedly are in Australia, but apparently
- 36:17Speaker 3: the Rams are going to wait for the day before
- 36:20Speaker 3: to make it to the land down under. I don't
- 36:22Speaker 3: understand that logic.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Apparently about that, I actually saw this tweet about the
- 36:30Speaker 1: 49ers traveling, and it was probably one of the craziest
- 36:36Speaker 1: things I've ever heard.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Is it Raheem Morris?
- 36:39Speaker 1: Yes, it's with Raheem Morris. Apparently, he turned 50 years
- 36:44Speaker 1: old on last Thursday, September 3rd, which also happened to
- 36:48Speaker 1: be the day the 49ers flew to Australia, leaving Wednesday night,
- 36:53Speaker 1: September the 2nd, and arriving Friday morning, September the 4th,
- 36:58Speaker 1: local time. The 49ers lost a day, and Morris is
- 37:03Speaker 1: still 49 years old.
- 37:07Speaker 3: That's great.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Hashtag time travel. Marty McFly is shitting himself right now.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Alright, but yeah. If you need to know something else
- 37:20Speaker 3: about this game, last year they split the series and
- 37:24Speaker 3: both the Rams and the 49ers won on the road.
- 37:31Speaker 2: I'm going to get off topic here just a tiny bit.
- 37:35Speaker 2: I'm not going to go into too much detail with it.
- 37:38Speaker 2: This is a question that's pointed at Nova. Nova, can
- 37:42Speaker 2: you tell us who Marty McFly is? The silence tells
- 37:50Speaker 2: me absolutely not.
- 37:52Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember if I heard that name before.
- 37:54Speaker 3: I feel like it's like a media thing. I don't remember.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Oh, it's a media thing, alright.
- 38:01Speaker 3: I might have heard it maybe once or twice on
- 38:03Speaker 3: the internet, but I've never delved too deep into it.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness. So whenever you get a chance, and
- 38:11Speaker 2: I'll kind of get us back on track here for
- 38:13Speaker 2: a little bit, you need to watch Back to the Future.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Why did I?
- 38:17Speaker 3: Oh, my God. That's why I can barely remember? Come on.
- 38:24Speaker 2: But no, contrary to, because I'm over here looking at
- 38:28Speaker 2: the spread and looking at the matchup predictor for San
- 38:32Speaker 2: Fran and L.A., It's got L.A. favored to win 60.5%.
- 38:39Speaker 2: The Rams are favored very heavily in this. Spreads 3.5
- 38:45Speaker 2: over under is 48.5. With the amount of injuries that
- 38:51Speaker 2: San Fran has had and has many sacrifices that they've
- 38:54Speaker 2: had to make to the substation this season, I definitely
- 38:59Speaker 2: think that the Niners are going to be very hard-pressed
- 39:01Speaker 2: to win this game. Regardless of whatever crazy, weird, voodoo,
- 39:07Speaker 2: hippie magic that they want to throw into this.
- 39:08Speaker 3: Yeah, as I mentioned before, they've split the series last year,
- 39:13Speaker 3: each winning a game on the road.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Yeah. I just think this is going to be very,
- 39:23Speaker 2: very difficult for for St. Fran to do anything with,
- 39:27Speaker 2: even with, you know, Christian McCaffrey seemingly being healthy, because
- 39:32Speaker 2: also I don't know if you guys have noticed that
- 39:34Speaker 2: as of the day, as of this recording, Puka Nakua
- 39:38Speaker 2: is still geared to play in that same game as well.
- 39:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm a little surprised they haven't done more updates
- 39:45Speaker 3: about whether or not Pukunuku ends up on the commissioner list,
- 39:48Speaker 3: because we might bring this up as well on the
- 39:50Speaker 3: later end of the show. There have been a numerous
- 39:52Speaker 3: amount of people who ended up on the commissioner's list.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw a whole list of players, but... at
- 40:01Speaker 1: least for this game, and I think I said this
- 40:05Speaker 1: during the last episode, but I don't remember if I did. Brandon,
- 40:09Speaker 1: you know how we have joked about how the 49ers
- 40:13Speaker 1: are your team because you just love the fact that
- 40:16Speaker 1: they're next to an electric substation?
- 40:18Speaker 2: I love that. Yeah, absolutely.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Well, you can't script this any better. Apparently their hotel
- 40:24Speaker 1: in Melbourne is next to an electric substation.
- 40:29Speaker 2: So I also saw the same thing. And of course,
- 40:33Speaker 2: me being the type of person that if I'm not
- 40:35Speaker 2: familiar with something, I'm going to Google it. But no, unfortunately,
- 40:40Speaker 2: for the memes, it was not a substation. It was
- 40:46Speaker 2: actually an abandoned train track. Oh.
- 40:50Speaker 3: That might be worse.
- 40:51Speaker 2: I'm not going to lie. It might be worse. It
- 40:54Speaker 2: might be worse. We don't know. But no, yeah. Unfortunately,
- 40:58Speaker 2: slash fortunately for the Niners, you know, it was not
- 41:01Speaker 2: a substation. It was definitely just, you know, a series
- 41:05Speaker 2: of track layouts for everything. But no, that would have
- 41:09Speaker 2: been just like the perfect beginning script for the NFL is,
- 41:14Speaker 2: you know, training next to a substation and your game
- 41:16Speaker 2: one is next to a substation. Let's see how much
- 41:18Speaker 2: we can get Christian McCaffrey powered up.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Yeah, we could have Christian McCaffrey be Pikachu when Nash
- 41:29Speaker 1: was trying to beat Brock. You power him up with
- 41:31Speaker 1: a wheel and then he learns Thunderbolt and defeats an Onix.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Jesus Christ.
- 41:38Speaker 3: Moving on.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Oh, wait.
- 41:40Speaker 1: We didn't make predictions.
- 41:41Speaker 3: We didn't do anything like that.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Come on.
- 41:43Speaker 3: I guess we can move on to what we think
- 41:45Speaker 3: is going to happen. Yes.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Let's move on to what we think is going to happen.
- 41:48Speaker 1: First off, what do you guys think on the spread? Again,
- 41:52Speaker 1: minus three and a half for the Rams.
- 41:57Speaker 3: I'm buying it. Yeah. Because I do think that there
- 42:00Speaker 3: won't be a four-point spread. I think it's going to
- 42:02Speaker 3: be like a seven, if anything. Do I think the
- 42:05Speaker 3: Niners have a chance in this game? Yes. Although, we've
- 42:09Speaker 3: seen it before last year because, well, somehow they won
- 42:12Speaker 3: with Mac Jones as quarterback and whatever the heck Robert
- 42:15Speaker 3: Sala was doing on the defensive end.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Mac Jones is not a terrible quarterback. Hold on now.
- 42:21Speaker 2: He's not the best, but he's definitely not terrible. I
- 42:23Speaker 2: never said he was terrible. Okay, calm that down. I
- 42:26Speaker 2: never said he was terrible. I'm only saying that because
- 42:29Speaker 2: Brock Purdy was the starter. And when the Niners beat
- 42:33Speaker 2: the Rams that year, Mac Jones was playing. But however,
- 42:39Speaker 2: I do think the Rams kind of do run away
- 42:42Speaker 2: with the game at the end. I expected it to
- 42:43Speaker 2: be close, and then the Rams just pull away in
- 42:45Speaker 2: the fourth quarter.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Okay, so Nova has the Rams, and you say they
- 42:53Speaker 1: cover the spread, and the over-under of 48.5. That's going under.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Going under.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Okay, Brandon, what is your prediction?
- 43:06Speaker 2: I think.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Let me pull this back up. Hold on. I'm on
- 43:09Speaker 2: a different tab now.
- 43:12Speaker 3: I have a side note while you find it. I
- 43:14Speaker 3: hope Kyron Williams does well because I have him in fantasy.
- 43:19Speaker 1: I mean, hey, if you got him in fantasy, let's
- 43:21Speaker 1: hope he works.
- 43:23Speaker 2: I mean, I have Devontae Adams in a few of
- 43:27Speaker 2: my leagues, which is why I grabbed him so high
- 43:30Speaker 2: in case Puka does wind up on the commissioner's list
- 43:32Speaker 2: for some reason. But personally, I have no bias outside
- 43:37Speaker 2: of that in the game. I do think that the 48.5
- 43:41Speaker 2: gets exceeded. However, I think at least... 35 of that
- 43:54Speaker 2: is going to be from the Rams.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Oh, so you think the Niners defense is just not
- 43:59Speaker 3: going to do well?
- 44:01Speaker 2: I think that they have lost so much on the
- 44:05Speaker 2: offensive side of the ball that the Niners are just
- 44:08Speaker 2: not going to be able to handle what the Rams
- 44:11Speaker 2: are bringing week one. You know, with Matt Stafford, you know,
- 44:16Speaker 2: sitting on his throne currently. And I just don't think
- 44:22Speaker 2: that the Niners defense is going to be able to
- 44:24Speaker 2: do anything more than just sit there and watch them get,
- 44:28Speaker 2: you know, rained all over while the offense goes three
- 44:30Speaker 2: and out constantly.
- 44:34Speaker 1: So you say the Rams covered the spread.
- 44:37Speaker 2: I think the Rams more than cover the spread.
- 44:40Speaker 3: All right.
- 44:42Speaker 1: We are in a, we are in lockstep when it
- 44:45Speaker 1: comes to overall predictions and the spread.
- 44:50Speaker 2: I think it's going to be at least 35-14 Rams.
- 44:55Speaker 1: I'm going to say it goes over, so I'm going
- 44:58Speaker 1: to join you on that one, but I'm going to
- 45:01Speaker 1: say it's closer. I'm going to say 27-24. That's generous.
- 45:09Speaker 2: I think that's generous.
- 45:10Speaker 3: I actually have a new question for you guys. How
- 45:13Speaker 3: much do you think are we going to buy into
- 45:14Speaker 3: the stocks of Miles Garrett and Aaron Donald together on
- 45:17Speaker 3: the defensive line?
- 45:19Speaker 1: Oh, I guarantee that's going to be all over the broadcast.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. No, that's another reason that I think, you know,
- 45:26Speaker 2: because of the injuries that San Fran's had offensively, that's
- 45:29Speaker 2: another reason I think that they're not going to be
- 45:30Speaker 2: able to do anything but go three and out versus
- 45:32Speaker 2: that tandem there. Aaron Donald might be old, but he's
- 45:36Speaker 2: still there with Miles Gary. Yeah, no. Yeah, no, I
- 45:40Speaker 2: think San Fran gets absolutely ran the fuck over, and
- 45:42Speaker 2: I think their two scores are going to come in
- 45:44Speaker 2: garbage time.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Poor Brock Purdy, man.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Yeah, poor Brock Purdy. Moving on to the Sunday slate.
- 45:56Speaker 1: The first game on the Sunday slate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- 46:00Speaker 1: at the Cincinnati Bengals.
- 46:04Speaker 3: Wait, hold on. You might have that in reverse. No,
- 46:06Speaker 3: it isn't. Hold on. I'm checking this right now.
- 46:08Speaker 1: It's Bengals.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Oh, I thought it was in Tampa Bay for some reason.
- 46:12Speaker 1: No, Tampa's home opener will be week two against the
- 46:14Speaker 1: Cleveland Browns, so they go through the state of Ohio
- 46:17Speaker 1: in the first two weeks.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Talon, we'll let you take this one. I don't think
- 46:22Speaker 2: you've had an opener yet, so let me hear your
- 46:24Speaker 2: thoughts on this one first.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Since you love Tampa Bay so much.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Oh, come on now.
- 46:30Speaker 3: You're a resident.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm a resident, but look, at least for this game,
- 46:39Speaker 1: what I'm wanting to see is I want to see
- 46:42Speaker 1: how this Bucks defense is going to perform because everybody
- 46:46Speaker 1: that I'm hearing about, you know, they keep lauding about
- 46:49Speaker 1: the fact that Vita Bay is still there. They get
- 46:52Speaker 1: Sean Murphy Bunning back. The whole thing with Reuben Bain
- 46:56Speaker 1: coming out. Honestly, I'm actually really impressed by how Reuben
- 47:01Speaker 1: Bain looks. This kid looks like a freaking monster off
- 47:05Speaker 1: the edge, so he could be a problem, but I'm
- 47:09Speaker 1: still not convinced on their safeties. I'm not convinced on
- 47:14Speaker 1: their linebacking core, especially the fact that they just lost
- 47:17Speaker 1: Levante David over the offseason. He finally retired. Good for him,
- 47:22Speaker 1: by the way. He had a wonderful career in Tampa Bay.
- 47:26Speaker 1: But when it comes to their offense, I think the
- 47:29Speaker 1: big question is going to be, how are they going
- 47:32Speaker 1: to replace Mike Evans? Like, how are they going to?
- 47:35Speaker 1: I mean, Emeka Igbuka is a good receiver. I mean,
- 47:38Speaker 1: he was popping off during his rookie campaign and all that.
- 47:43Speaker 1: But outside of him, outside of Jalen McMillan, like, there's
- 47:48Speaker 1: really not a whole lot there. And their running game,
- 47:51Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, Rashad White has been a decent running
- 47:57Speaker 1: back for Tampa. And Bucky Irving has come out in, like,
- 48:01Speaker 1: droves for them from time to time, but.
- 48:05Speaker 3: They also have Chris Godwin apparently coming back from injury.
- 48:08Speaker 2: I was going to say, is Chris Godwin just chopped
- 48:10Speaker 2: liver here?
- 48:11Speaker 1: Oh, frick, I forgot about Godwin, and I had the
- 48:17Speaker 1: claim that he was better than Mike Evans.
- 48:20Speaker 3: And not only that, they still have Kate Otten. Eh,
- 48:23Speaker 3: I don't really.
- 48:25Speaker 1: I don't really hold Kate Otten.
- 48:27Speaker 3: Oh, and they just signed Kenneth Gainwell from the Steelers, too.
- 48:29Speaker 3: And Gainwell is actually decently good.
- 48:36Speaker 1: I'll give it a wait and see on Kenneth Gainwell.
- 48:40Speaker 1: And I know, like, Bucs fans are really happy that
- 48:43Speaker 1: Jalen Daniels is the backup and it's no longer Jake Browning.
- 48:47Speaker 1: I'm actually more surprised you forgot about Chris Godwin because
- 48:51Speaker 1: he's been injured for quite some time. I can't believe
- 48:54Speaker 1: I forgot about Godwin. Again, I made the claim years ago,
- 48:57Speaker 1: I'd take him over Mike Evans.
- 48:59Speaker 3: But now he's wide receiver one, apparently.
- 49:03Speaker 1: I mean, you really don't have a choice there. But,
- 49:07Speaker 1: I mean, on paper, the Bucs might have a better
- 49:12Speaker 1: roster than the Bengals. But, I mean, Joe Burrow and
- 49:15Speaker 1: Jamar Chase, that is still a really nasty combination. But
- 49:20Speaker 1: then you don't even just throw in Jamar Chase. You
- 49:23Speaker 1: have T.
- 49:23Speaker 3: Higgins.
- 49:24Speaker 1: You have Andre Yoshibash. You've got Chase Brown and Samanjay
- 49:29Speaker 1: Piran in the back. The real question with Cincinnati has
- 49:33Speaker 1: been a question with Cincinnati for years. And, Nova, you
- 49:37Speaker 1: can attest to this being in the AFC North. How
- 49:40Speaker 1: is that offensive line going to hold up?
- 49:44Speaker 3: Not only that, how's the defense going to hold up?
- 49:46Speaker 3: Cause that's also been their issue.
- 49:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:49Speaker 1: I mean, you lose Trey Hendrickson, but you get Shamar
- 49:52Speaker 1: Stewart back.
- 49:53Speaker 3: So yay. And you got the tight end trade with
- 49:56Speaker 3: Dexter Lawrence. Hmm.
- 49:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 50:00Speaker 1: That, that actually, yeah. The, the Dexter Lawrence trade would
- 50:04Speaker 1: be interesting.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Um, Like, here's the thing. I think the Cincinnati offense,
- 50:10Speaker 3: I think, is a bit more talented than Tampa's offense,
- 50:14Speaker 3: but it all comes down to that O-line, because, you know,
- 50:16Speaker 3: the Bengals don't have a person like Tristan Wirfs on
- 50:19Speaker 3: that offensive line. I mean, I don't know if... I
- 50:21Speaker 3: randomly heard if Wirfs got hurt, but I don't know
- 50:23Speaker 3: if that's entirely true, but that defense with the Bucs
- 50:26Speaker 3: does look better than the Bengals. That's always been the
- 50:28Speaker 3: question mark, and I really hope Vita Vea shows out
- 50:33Speaker 3: and And just shows the Buccaneers why he deserves more
- 50:37Speaker 3: than a one-year extension that he got.
- 50:41Speaker 1: So I'm looking at the injury report right now. Tristan
- 50:43Speaker 1: Worfs is not listed on the injury report.
- 50:47Speaker 3: I think Baker should be a bit better protected than Jaburo.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Should be. And I think it might actually come down
- 50:54Speaker 1: to the special teams. So it's probably going to be
- 50:57Speaker 1: between either Chase McLaughlin or Evan McPherson.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Both of which, by the way, have been able to
- 51:03Speaker 3: kick from 60 before.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Both have been able to kick by 60 before. I'm
- 51:09Speaker 1: going to say Tampa Bay wins this game. But I say, well,
- 51:15Speaker 1: I mean, if I pick Tampa Bay to win, then
- 51:17Speaker 1: Tampa Bay has to cover the spread because the spread
- 51:20Speaker 1: is Cincinnati minus three and a half. But I do
- 51:24Speaker 1: not see that over under hitting of 50 and a
- 51:28Speaker 1: half at all.
- 51:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think it's going to be that high either.
- 51:32Speaker 3: You're underestimating the defense this year. If there's a defense
- 51:34Speaker 3: that underestimates 100% the Bengals, it's not the Bucs.
- 51:39Speaker 1: So, your prediction, Nova, is?
- 51:41Speaker 3: I think the Buccaneers do win, but I think this
- 51:44Speaker 3: will be down to the wire. What's the over-under?
- 51:48Speaker 1: 50.5, and the spread is Cincinnati minus 3.5.
- 51:55Speaker 3: I think Tampa wins, and then I... I think the
- 51:58Speaker 3: 50 might be barely missed. I think it would be
- 52:02Speaker 3: like 27 to 26. 27 to 23 or something like that.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Okay. Barely under.
- 52:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes over because,
- 52:13Speaker 3: you know, these are suspect defenses. True.
- 52:18Speaker 1: And Brandon, what's your take?
- 52:22Speaker 2: I also think Tampa Bay wins this one for sure.
- 52:24Speaker 2: And what realistically makes me believe that is kind of
- 52:28Speaker 2: glancing at the injury report. I think the Tampa Bay
- 52:32Speaker 2: defense is better than the Cincy defense. Early in the season,
- 52:36Speaker 2: I don't think it's really much of a conversation, especially
- 52:40Speaker 2: since V of A, it's kind of on that prove
- 52:42Speaker 2: it or lose it type of deal. But looking at
- 52:45Speaker 2: the Cincy report, T. Higgins has a heel injury. Jamar
- 52:49Speaker 2: Chase has a knee injury. They're both questionable. You have
- 52:52Speaker 2: an offensive tackle and a corner for Cincy that's already
- 52:55Speaker 2: on IR. You have one of their DEs that's questionable
- 52:58Speaker 2: with a knee problem as well. I think since he's
- 53:02Speaker 2: far too injured, you know, and with their security blankets
- 53:05Speaker 2: to really kind of try to fight Tampa Bay, I
- 53:08Speaker 2: don't think it hits 50. I think it's probably a closer,
- 53:12Speaker 2: more defensive, grindy game with offenses kind of stalling out.
- 53:15Speaker 2: I think it might just turn into a field goal game, honestly.
- 53:17Speaker 2: That being said, I think the Buccaneers do win, but
- 53:22Speaker 2: I think they went somewhere along the lines of like 24-3.
- 53:26Speaker 2: 24-12 or something of that nature. I see.
- 53:30Speaker 3: I was going to mention that. Are you trying to
- 53:32Speaker 3: convince you to put Chase McLaughlin in the starting lineup?
- 53:35Speaker 2: I'm not trying to convince you of anything. I'm saying
- 53:38Speaker 2: use your best judgment.
- 53:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I have my lineup ready, but if I have
- 53:42Speaker 3: to switch, I will.
- 53:45Speaker 2: My thing is with Fantasy, I would keep an eye
- 53:47Speaker 2: on the lead receivers for Cincinnati, and if they're both
- 53:50Speaker 2: going to be GTDs, then I'm probably putting in Cincy's kicker.
- 53:56Speaker 3: I haven't been here since we didn't have a field day,
- 53:58Speaker 3: I guess.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Well, also, speaking of field, they are at Paycore Stadium.
- 54:03Speaker 1: How much is the pay to get in, gentlemen?
- 54:08Speaker 3: At least $ 90? No, no, no, no, no, no. That's
- 54:11Speaker 3: just wrong. No, that could be right, but I think
- 54:14Speaker 3: it's like $ 110 or something, actually, yeah.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Okay, Nova says $ 110. Brandon, what is your get-in price?
- 54:22Speaker 2: I'm going to... defer that, pun fully intended, and the
- 54:28Speaker 2: only reason for that is because I'm actively looking at
- 54:31Speaker 2: the GameCast page right now with average game end prices.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 54:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to defer that question for that reason.
- 54:41Speaker 1: Got you. So Nova, get end price for this game
- 54:45Speaker 1: is $ 134.
- 54:45Speaker 3: Okay, I figured $ 90 was wrong because I'm pretty sure
- 54:50Speaker 3: there are going to be people willing to pay to
- 54:52Speaker 3: see Joe Burrow play again.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, everybody loves Joe Cool.
- 54:58Speaker 3: Apparently more than Lamar Jackson, which makes no sense.
- 55:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but we'll be talking about Lamar Jackson in a
- 55:07Speaker 1: little bit because the next game on the schedule, the
- 55:11Speaker 1: New Orleans Saints at the Detroit Lions.
- 55:16Speaker 2: I should have had you take that one to open
- 55:17Speaker 2: up with.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Probably should have had me take it, but instead it's
- 55:22Speaker 1: going to be you, Brandon. You're taking it.
- 55:27Speaker 2: So oh god where do i begin with this one
- 55:31Speaker 2: uh over under 48 and a half detroit spread is
- 55:33Speaker 2: minus seven i think detroit wins this and i don't
- 55:36Speaker 2: even think it's remotely fucking close i don't think new
- 55:40Speaker 2: orleans stands a chance in hell of coming close on
- 55:43Speaker 2: this game i think it's probably i think there's i
- 55:46Speaker 2: think there's at least seven offensive touchdowns by by detroit.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Damn, you actually say they go the over just by themselves?
- 55:56Speaker 2: I think they go the over just by themselves. I
- 55:58Speaker 2: think Jared Goff has got a chip on his shoulder
- 56:01Speaker 2: because he actively thinks he's probably just as good of
- 56:04Speaker 2: a QB as Matt Stafford is, and you have probably
- 56:07Speaker 2: the best running back in the league. I think Jared
- 56:11Speaker 2: Goff has fit into the Detroit offensive system very well.
- 56:15Speaker 2: Their head coach also has something to prove as well.
- 56:18Speaker 2: I think this is a complete and total obliteration of
- 56:21Speaker 2: New Orleans, and I think they cover the over-under by themselves.
- 56:27Speaker 1: And what say you, Noble?
- 56:28Speaker 3: I was going to say you might be next, as
- 56:30Speaker 3: you are keen on the Saints, but sure, I'll take
- 56:33Speaker 3: this one. I do anticipate the Lions win this by
- 56:38Speaker 3: a lot, but I don't think they're going to cover
- 56:41Speaker 3: the over-under odds by themselves. I think this will go over.
- 56:45Speaker 3: I think it's going to be more like a three
- 56:46Speaker 3: touchdown game for Tyler Shuck, but I do think the
- 56:49Speaker 3: Lions run away with this one before then.
- 56:52Speaker 1: So you have the over Detroit, but you're saying New
- 56:55Speaker 1: Orleans covers the seven.
- 57:00Speaker 3: I don't think it's like 38 to 24 or something
- 57:04Speaker 3: like that.
- 57:06Speaker 1: That would be Detroit covering the spread.
- 57:08Speaker 3: Okay. I do anticipate the Saints having some success, but
- 57:11Speaker 3: I think it's going to be a little too much
- 57:13Speaker 3: for them to handle.
- 57:15Speaker 1: All right, so looks like we're basically in lockstep, but
- 57:21Speaker 1: I'm actually going to say New Orleans. I'm going to
- 57:24Speaker 1: take New Orleans plus seven. I'm definitely taking Detroit to
- 57:28Speaker 1: win this game, but I'm actually going to say it's
- 57:31Speaker 1: the under in this game because... I mean, look, I'm
- 57:37Speaker 1: not going to knock on New Orleans. I'm not going
- 57:41Speaker 1: to knock. on the fact that I'm a Falcons fan
- 57:44Speaker 1: and it's the Saints and it's easy pickings and blah, blah, blah.
- 57:51Speaker 1: I'm not going to do that here. I'm going to
- 57:52Speaker 1: talk it like a very honest, a very unbiased person.
- 57:57Speaker 1: And quite candidly, outside of Chris Olave, I don't really
- 58:03Speaker 1: know much about the Saints receiving core. Like, I'm going
- 58:08Speaker 1: to pull it up right now and... Again, outside of
- 58:14Speaker 1: Chris Olavi, their receiving core is.
- 58:17Speaker 3: Travis Etienne, because he's a receiving back.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Yeah, kind of a little bit, but if we're talking
- 58:25Speaker 1: strictly wide receivers, it's Chris Olavi, Devon Bailey, Bryce Lance,
- 58:31Speaker 1: Barry and Brown, and Braun Breaker's suspended younger brother, Brock Rechtsteiner.
- 58:42Speaker 1: Then you throw in their– I mean, look, the tight ends,
- 58:44Speaker 1: I'll give them credit. Noah Fant and Jawan Johnson are
- 58:47Speaker 1: really good tight ends. I respect what they've done at
- 58:53Speaker 1: their positions. It might come down to how the Lions
- 59:00Speaker 1: can stop Alvin Kamara because, let's face it, that guy's
- 59:02Speaker 1: contact balance is on another frickin' planet.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Is he questionable?
- 59:08Speaker 1: He might be questionable. I've got it up here. Yeah, okay,
- 59:17Speaker 1: so he remains sidelined at last Thursday's practice on September 3rd.
- 59:22Speaker 1: He's questionable. Kendrick Miller is questionable. Jordan Tyson is on
- 59:28Speaker 1: injured reserve. That's the star rookie.
- 59:31Speaker 3: Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if Travis Etienne kind of
- 59:34Speaker 3: has a randomly good game.
- 59:38Speaker 1: I wouldn't either. I mean, I'm still picking Detroit to win,
- 59:42Speaker 1: but I would not be surprised if New Orleans covers
- 59:45Speaker 1: the spread, but I definitely don't see it hitting the
- 59:50Speaker 1: over on 49 and a half. That's kind of like,
- 59:54Speaker 1: The Tampa Cincinnati game, especially week one, I would say
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: over-unders of that number just feel a little too high
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: to hit an over. It could be a backdoor over hit,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: but I'm locking in the under. I'm going to say
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Detroit wins, but New Orleans is going to cover the spread.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Fair enough.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Moving on to the next game. This is the bathroom
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: break game of the week because how many people in
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Nashville and East Rutherford, New Jersey are going to be
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: watching this game?
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: The people that are clamoring just end the season.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Are you sure they would even be watching this game?
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: They're going to. There's no way they don't.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Only your die-hard Titans fans are going to be sitting there.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: They have the season tickets every year. They're going to
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: be there that game, pretty much. Plus the random spattering
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: of Jets fans that you didn't even know existed.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: What, you don't believe in Robert Sala?
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: I don't believe in that man as far as I
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: can throw him. I don't care what team he's been on.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: That man is dog shit. I mean.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: When it comes to this game, I mean, this might
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: be the quickest preview that we have of the entire slate.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Who's the Jets quarterback? Are they any good? The answer
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: is no. Who's their running back? Are there any good?
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: Not really. Is Garrett Wilson going to have maybe a
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: crazy catch?
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: Probably.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: And how's Cam Ward going to look?
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: You have to. Reese Hall is crazy.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: Breece Hall is boo-boo.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: He got paid.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: I mean, good for him.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: I mean, I'm glad he can afford to put the
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: roof over his head. I mean, that's all we want
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: as Americans, to be able to keep the roof over
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: our head and have a livable wage. He has that
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: because he's the best player on the Jets team. And
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: quite honestly, that doesn't say a lot.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: That doesn't say a lot, but.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: I don't think Breece Hall is awful.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: He's not awful. He's not good, but he's not awful.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: I think this will be a defensive battle, as I say.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: Okay. Anyway, this will be a defensive battle, as I say.
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: Probably not a lot of offense. I do expect the
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: Titans to barely win this game.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: What's the over-under?
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: The spread is Tennessee minus one and a half, and
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: the over-under is 39 and a half.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: Oh, this is going under 100%. There's no way it doesn't.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no way.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no way this game goes over 39.5. But
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: this one, so another thing about the spread, Nova, is
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: that the home teams usually get three points automatically when
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: the lines, quote-unquote, open. And then, because if I remember correctly,
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: I think the rule of thumb is you get three
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: points if you're the home team because it would be
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: the same as a pick-em for a neutral site. So
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: that's right. So at least for this one, they're essentially
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: saying it's a pick them leading, leaning towards the jets.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: And I had that wrong. I think the Titans win.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. So Tennessee and you say
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: they cover.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: I say the scores would be Titans, 20 jets, 13.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: I still think that's generous.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: You're going to see a Cam Moore touchdown. Don't worry.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Oh, you'll probably see.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: And hopefully a Tony Pollard touchdown too.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Yeah. So Brandon, you've got Tennessee minus one and a
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: half and under.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: I think Tennessee wins that. I definitely think it's under.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: I think this is purely field goals. I don't think
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: this is anything more. I think the offenses are just
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: that bad.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: I mean, Jeffrey Simmons is a one-man wrecking crew on
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: that defense. I mean, that's fine.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: This man's going to be running sprints every damn drop.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: Well, now we get to move to the next game
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: on the 1 o'clock slate, which is the Baltimore Ravens
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: at the Indianapolis Colts.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: Please, for the love of God, let the preseason carry over.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: I want to see Jesse Minter's defense dominate against this
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: Colts team. Because apparently there's some people, including yourself, Talon,
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: that are keen on the Colts winning the division, which
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: I'm not buying. And I want to go ahead and
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: say that because with this defense being better, of course,
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: obviously we're going to probably get Nemanja Mata-BK back. We're getting.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: Trey Hendrickson, Roquan Smith should be back in form. So
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: the secondary is going to be as dangerous as ever.
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: Kyle Hamilton, Malachi Starks, Nate Wiggins. But then this offense
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: under Declan Doyle. And I need to bring up the
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: stats too. In both the seasons, Lamar Jackson won his MVPs.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: They've both been under a new offensive coordinator. In 2019,
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: it was Greg Roman. 2023, Todd Munkin. 2026 with Declan Doyle.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: Could he win his third MVP?
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: It's possible.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: I mean, Lamar's saying that defenses aren't ready for Declan
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: Doyle's offense, and I would honestly agree. And aside from
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: the Rashad Bateman stuff, you know, Zay Flowers, still on
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: the social, on the media pages, is not being respected
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: as a regular super number one. Obviously, we've got Jacoby
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: Lane as a rookie. Mark Andrews, probably subjective. And obviously,
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: we have the best running attack of Lamar Jackson, not
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: only doing it himself, but also Derrick Henry. And we
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: have a better offensive line than Daniel Fala-Lele's gone for
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: Vega Yolane. But Ronnie Stanley should be back up. And really,
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: our only question is Tyler Loop. That's really all it is.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: On that note, not to cut you off, though, but
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: on that note, while you were over here going through
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: your motions of the people, I did find a stat
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: on Twitter, or X as it's called nowadays, from various
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: sources of Baltimore Ravens, of people who have been watching them,
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: that since the signing of Jake Moody... Tyler Loop has
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: not missed a field goal attempt in practice or otherwise.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: See what bullying does? Look, if signing Jake Moody does
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: something to Tyler Loop, it better be positive, I should say, Brandon.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: That's all I'm.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Going to say. I even reposted an instance on X,
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: and this was posted today at 3.12 p.m. Eastern, so
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: literally an hour and three minutes ago. Ravens head coach
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Jesse Minter said Tyler Loop has not missed a kick
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: since the team signed Jake Moody.
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: And that's the understanding that he could be losing his
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: job if he doesn't do well, because he's under the
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: most pressure since Jake Moody, mind you.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: I mean, he's not wrong, Brandon, but I mean, look,
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: when I said that I'm probably riding with Indianapolis to
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: win the AFC South, I'm still going to stick with
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: that belief. which is why I'm also going to say
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Baltimore wins, but Indianapolis covers the spread. So I'm going
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: to say Indian because it's only, it's only three and
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: a half.
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: So yeah, that's probably fair. Honestly.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: As for the over under, I mean, it's 47 and
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: a half. So I can see that being a backdoor over.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: So I'm going to say over.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I can see that being in the backdoor over
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: as well.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: How good is that Colts defense?
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: DeForest Buckner's there. Sauce Gardner's there.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: I don't imagine Sauce Gardner's going to be covering St.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Flowers all that good.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Probably not. I'm pulling up their defense right now.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: I know the offense is just getting Daniel Jones back.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: They still have Jonathan Taylor. They lost Michael Pittman, but
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: paid Alec Pierce.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Now see, that's why I'm going to say Baltimore wins,
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: but Indianapolis can cover the spread and a backdoor over.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Because it's Daniel Jones' first game back from an Achilles tear,
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: I can't say that they're going to win the first week.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: But I can see them keeping it close because, funnily enough,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: the last time, and granted we're going to be talking
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: about another quarterback making a return from an Achilles tear
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: and starting in week one in a little bit, but
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: the last quarterback to tear his Achilles in week or
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: in the previous season and come back to play week
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: one was, uh, Kirk cousins from the Vikings to Atlanta. And, uh,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: funnily enough, Atlanta lost that game.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: So the Steelers.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Yeah. It was still the Steelers. How'd you know?
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: It was week one of that week. It was also
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: his first start with the Falcons, so I kind of
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: remember that one.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and Chris Boswell got drug tested after that game
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: because he kicked six field goals.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: The Mike Tomlin experience. But yeah, we don't know how
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: good Daniel Jones is. I think the offensive line for
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: the Colts will be tested because, again, they got to
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: deal with Nomadi Matabike. They got to deal with.
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: Why am I not remembering things? Hold on. So Trey Hendrickson,
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: Roquan Smith, Calais.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: Campbell, And then in the back, don't forget about Kyle Hamilton,
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: the freaking goat that he is as a ball hawk
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: in safety.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: Yeah, obviously really good. And another note from the Ravens.
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: This was just announced by Jesse Minter because there was
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: apparently some injuries with the center position. And where are you?
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: I'm scrolling. It'll be Jovan Gwynn will start at center
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: week one.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: That'll be a test for him for sure.
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I do think, okay, I think my anticipated score
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: will be the Ravens 34, then the Colts 20, 20?
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: It's just 20. 34-20 is my prediction.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Okay, so Baltimore will cover the spread. You said 34-20?
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: So you are taking the over.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Yes, I am.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: All right, and as for Brandon?
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: I think it's 31-28 Baltimore.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: So that's Baltimore the over, but you are like me.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: You are taking Indianapolis plus three and a half.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: Yep. Sure. I am. All right. Okay.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: I have another look at the defensive line. There we go.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: Broderick Jones, Travis Jones, and then Zion young on the
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: linebacking court, Teddy Buchanan, as well as Mike green. I
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: think the scene is too much talent.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: And this is my personal bias here. This is a
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: rule of thumb that I will live and die by.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: I don't put a lot of stock in the preseason.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: I never have.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: I never will.
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: That's why I'm saying I'm hoping that it carries over.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: For sure, yeah. I respect that for sure, but I
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: think Indy is better than what people are anticipating them
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: to be, even with DJ coming off a tear.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: That's why I'm holding... I'd hope on them for the division,
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: but okay. So we've got that one. And I'll just
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: tell you guys right now, we are literally lock, stock
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: and barrel on every single game. Like nobody has differed
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: on a game just yet.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: Oh, it's coming.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Oh, it's, it's probably coming. Brandon, do you want to
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: lead this one? This next game? You want to talk
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: about this one?
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: Which one is it?
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: You know what it is.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: You know what it is.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: Oh, let me pull it up. I actually don't have
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: that tab open. Let's see. We mentioned Falcon Steelers. Yeah,
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: it's Falcon Steelers. Oh man, I have some opinions about
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: this game.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: Please do.
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: I think Talon should say the news. Honestly.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: Actually, no. This is a Talon preferred team. So, Talon,
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: why don't you lead this one, and I'll be the second.
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: Because, again, we've all led each other's teams. Why don't
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: you want to do it, Talon? Are you just that afraid?
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: Not so necessarily I'm afraid. More so that I've got
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: information as to why I'm going to pick this game
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: the way that I'm going to.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: So, if that's the case, I'll keep mine pretty short
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: and sweet and to the point. And I know that
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: some of these opinions, you know, Talon's going to exacerbate
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: on a little bit more. Um, to a talking below
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: as of like, what was it like last night today? Uh,
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: name QB one for Atlanta. Then it says it ready.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Then it's still hurt. Um, and then your backup is
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: just your backup. That will probably only see the field
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: of two. It gets like his 17th concussion of his
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: to being a few years in the NFL. Um, which
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: honestly against the Steelers defense, he might actually do. I
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: hope not because that man's brains are already grits. Um, I, I,
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Pittsburgh minus three over unders 42 and a half. I
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: don't think this comes close to the 42 and a half.
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: I think Pittsburgh wins. I think Pittsburgh wins somewhere along
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: the lines of like 21, 14. I think both offenses
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: kind of suck. I think Aaron Rogers is too far
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: over the hill. I don't think this man is even
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: going to come close to sniffing Lamar Jackson's towel after
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: his game. Um, I just, I don't know. I don't
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: think this is going to be a good game for
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: either team, honestly. And God help me, as an Alabama fan,
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: I hope Tua proves me wrong. I hope Tua proves
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: Talon wrong or right, whichever positive opinion he may have
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: of Tua Tagovailoa. I would like to see Atlanta win.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: I would like to see Tua have one of the
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: best offensive performances of his life since coming out of Miami.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: But my hopes on him are not very high with
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: how injury prone he is. And my hopes are not
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: very high on Pittsburgh with how old they are. I
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: think that the only thing that realistically would make the
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: Steelers win this game is the fact that Mike McCarthy
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: and Aaron Rodgers both already have a relationship and knowing
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: of how each other works. And that's the only reason
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: that I think Pittsburgh wins this game is just because
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: the head coaching QB familiarity already.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Okay. Nova, do you have anything to add on that?
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: Why is Cooper rushed to back up?
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: Well, how is high on Jack Strand?
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: Well, okay. So here's the thing. Pennix is fully cleared,
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: but he's not fully ready. According to the press conference,
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: from him and from Stefanski, but he's apparently, quote-unquote, really close. So, again,
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: the fact that Tua worked all throughout training camp, mostly
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: with the 11s, with the first-team reps, it does make
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: sense that Tua will be the starting quarterback. I'm still
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: saying Penix will be the long-term starter for this season.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: I'm not going to say it's because of a 17th concussion.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: But I would not be surprised if, I don't know,
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: maybe next week, Pennix is the starter for the home
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: opener against the Panthers. But there is something about this
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: game that I'm just, again, Nova, you can disagree with
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: this claim all you want that I'm about to say.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: I know I picked Baltimore to win their game against
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: the Colts, and I know I picked Cincinnati to lose
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: against Tampa. I'm saying the Steelers are going to be
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: starting 1-0 this week, but not because it's Aaron Rodgers
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: on one side, Tua Tagovailoa on the other side. It's
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: not because DK Metcalf on one side and The last
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: time DK Metcalf played against AJ Terrell, DK Metcalf made
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: AJ Terrell his bitch. It's a historical reason why I'm
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: picking the Steelers to win. And you all know that
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: historical record?
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: Didn't you mention it in one of the episodes as well?
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: I've been saying it for the last couple of months.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: I would have said Pittsburgh wins even if this was
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: week 15. The Atlanta Falcons cannot beat the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: They are 2-16-1. The last time they came even remotely
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: close to beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh, mind you.
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: They tied.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: Ha ha ha ha!
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: That was in 2002. The Falcons have not beaten the
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: Steelers in Pittsburgh. The last time the Falcons beat the
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Steelers was 2006, almost 20 years ago, and that was
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: when overtime was still sudden death. Not, you get a touchdown,
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: the game is over, but if you get a field goal,
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: your opponent gets a shot to possess the ball. So...
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: I am picking the Steelers to win this game. And
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: I'm saying that as a historical unbiased and biased Falcons fan.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: And I'm also putting it on the record right now.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: Like I have said to my family, if the Falcons
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, you will be seeing
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: a video on my Twitter feed of me dancing in irons.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: jig in the middle of the street.
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: Are we going to see video evidence?
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: Yes, they will be recording. However, I will also say this.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: I say Pittsburgh wins. I will say Atlanta covers the
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: three and a half. I will say that. I will
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: say it's a backdoor cover, and I will also say
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: it goes over 42 and a half.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: That's a lot of faith in that offense.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Again, it might be more on Pittsburgh's offense getting most
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: of the brunt work than Atlanta's offense, but again, I
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: am picking Pittsburgh to win. I have it on audio
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: now of what I will be doing if the Steelers
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: lose to Atlanta on Sunday. But we need Nova's prediction
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: as well.
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: I think it's going to be Pittsburgh 17 and Atlanta 13.
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: This is not going to be pretty for either team.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: That's easy enough. Pittsburgh covers the spread barely and the under.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: Moving on.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: Let's talk about the Chicago Bears and the Carolina Panthers. Honestly,
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: I think this might be a sneaky good game. Nova,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: you take the lead on this one.
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: Okay, so we start with the Panthers being shaky for
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: the most part. I mean, they did barely win the division,
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: although a lot of outside factors happened. You know, Bryce
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: Young still on the comeuppance. He did take that fifth-year option,
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: so don't know much about that one. I mean, they
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: lost Rico Dowdle on the backfield because they still think
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: Shuba Hubbard's dead. and start running back. Got the Ted
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: Arona-McMillan thing, you know, developing as well. Jalen Coker, Xavier Leguette.
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: And then the defense got upgrades as well for the Panthers.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: They got Jalen Phillips and Devin Lloyd for the linebacking core.
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: And Ryan Fitzgerald, still a pretty good special teams kicker
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: for the Panthers. At least that's on their side. As
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: for the Bears, they have to be feeling a lot
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: of pressure because, you know, they made it all the
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: way through the NFC Divisional round last year. Caleb Williams
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: playing arguably near the top of his talent level amongst
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: that 2024 class. You still have probably the best offensive
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: line in the NFL. You have Colson Lovell in the title.
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: You have Romo Dunze as well on the receiving core.
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: Luther Burden, I mean, he's injured, but the receiving core
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: should still be fine. The running back should still be fine.
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: The defense... It's weird because they relied on a lot
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: of turnovers last year, but their defense was suspect. So
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: I'm not too sure what the thing on either team
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: at surface value based on the moves as well as
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: the Kobe Bryant's injury for the Bears.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: And with that, your prediction is going to be?
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: Chicago 24, Carolina 20. Chicago 24.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: 24, Carolina 20.
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: I think this will be closer than a lot of
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: people expect.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: Okay, so that's Chicago minus three. And the under barely.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: Because the under is 46 and a half.
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: Oh, jeez.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: All right, Brandon, what's your call?
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: This one... This one's going to be kind of an
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: interesting game to watch. Caleb Williams is coming off his
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: little up-and-up performance from last year. So is Bryce Young.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: I think... Man, this one's kind of... I don't think
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: this is really so much of anything that I would
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: classify as a personal hot take than just low-key trying
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: to be realistic. Because that is something I told y'all
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: that I would do. I was trying to be more
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: realistic for week one predictions. But I do think Carolina
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: wins this game.
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: And I wouldn't be surprised if that happens. It's hard
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: to choose.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: And it really is hard to choose. But what really
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: makes me think that Carolina wins this is, again, deferring
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: to the injury report. Luther Burden, questionable. They're like two
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: or three of their receivers, questionable. Running back, questionable. Safety,
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: tight end, IR. They've got a little bit of injuries
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: themselves like the Niners did. But I think the biggest
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: question mark going into this for Chicago is going to
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: be how does Caleb Williams manage having to balance, if
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: he were to play, a hurt Luther Burden? The answer
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: to that is I don't think they handle it very well.
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: I think Carolina wins this. but I think it's probably
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: going to be along the lines of more like 21-14
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: or 28-21. I think it's going to be a little
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: bit of a scoring happening by the end of the day,
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: and this might be some hometown bias, but I think
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: Bryce Young kind of continues to step up here.
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: I thought you were about to say this might come
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: down to a Ryan Fitzgerald field goal, but that works too.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: I mean, so did you say you want the over
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: or the under in that game?
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: I've got, let's say 28-21. Carolina and it's got let's
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: see 28-21 would cover that would be over.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: I mean you're gonna find it crazy but I'm actually
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: in agreement with Brandon I'm saying Carolina gets the shock
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: upset this week and I'm actually gonna say it's under
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: because of all the injuries but I could see Carolina
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: winning this game over over the bears. I feel like
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: it'll be closer than people give a credit for. And
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: it probably has something to do with, uh, with that
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: injury report. Cause I'm also pulling up, uh, Carolina's injury report. And, uh,
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: I mean, Chuba Hubbard's questionable. Jonathan Brooks is questionable. They're
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: starting to, they're starting, uh, tackles are out in Taylor
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: Mona and Ikea Kwanu, uh, Trevor Etienne is on injured reserve.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: Xavier Leguette apparently was partially in a walking boot. Chris
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: Brazel is on injured reserve. I hate that Nick Skirton
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: is hurt because he was really turning the corner for Carolina.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: Brady Christensen is on injured reserve. So technically they're going
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: to have three of their starting offensive linemen out.
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I can see Carolina winning and barely covering the spread,
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: but with that many injuries on an offensive line, it's
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: going to be a hard under, if you ask me.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I can see that.
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: Yeah. Okay, we have the next one. I think this
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: should be a rather quick one. Who wants to talk
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: about the Browns and the Jaguars?
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: I think Brandon should leave us.
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: Oh, man. Is it because we know my opinion on
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: Deshaun Watson?
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: It could be.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: It could very well be. Cleveland's trash. I think they
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: go 0-17. That being said, looking at ESPN's matchup predictor,
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: Jacksonville's favored to win at 77.3%. It's not close. It
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: says the spread is Jacksonville minus 7, but the over-under
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: is 40.5. I think that's a little high. I don't
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: think that's going to be 40 points in this game,
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: but at the same time, I would not be surprised
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: to see Cleveland get shut out and it still be
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: in under.
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: Yeah. I'm thinking the same thing.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: I'm thinking the same thing. I feel like this one is, uh,
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: an easy Jacksonville across the board with the under in
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: this game. But as for the spread, um, Again, especially
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: for week one, a spread like that where it's– I mean,
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: I know you said minus seven, Brandon. I got minus
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: eight and a half on the line for Jacksonville. And
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: anything close to a two-score spread, I find it very
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: difficult to go with that. So I'm assuming you and
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: Nova are going to take Jacksonville minus eight and a half.
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: I think Trevor Lawrence has a breakout game again.
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: Well, I am taking Cleveland. I'm taking Cleveland plus the points.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: What?
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: I say Cleveland covers that spread.
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: I mean, if there's any reason that happens, it's because
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: of the defense.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: Exactly. Again, exactly. Like when it comes to those kinds
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: of spreads for me, and again, I don't even, usually
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: I just make bets straight up. Like I just say,
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: who's going to win, who's going to lose, but. Because
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: we're doing it with the spread and the over-under as well,
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: I have to stick by my guns. And I always
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: had hesitation when a spread was reaching two scores minimum
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: for a cover. Even if a team is really bad
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: and we all don't like that team and whatever. they're doing,
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: it's just difficult to cover a two score spread, especially
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: in the NFL.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: For sure.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: Um, But let's move on to the last game of
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: the 1 o'clock window. And Nova, you can lead off
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: with this one because it is the two teams in
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: the AFC that you are a fan of the most
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: that isn't the Baltimore Ravens. And that is the Buffalo
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: Bills and the Houston Texans.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: First of all, that's an outright lie because Brandon can
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: also tell me that he hates the Buffalo Bills just
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: as I do because it's a Josh Allen thing. Let's
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: get that out of the way, Brandon, right?
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: I'll save my opinion.
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: He did not deserve to win that MVP. I'll just
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: put it bluntly. But this is the second time in
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: two years that Josh Allen has to face this monster
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: of a Houston Texans defense. Of course, they went 0-3
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: in the preseason, but that was mostly because their backups
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: is mostly the concerning part of the Houston Texans defense.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: And then you have CJ Stratton apparently betting on himself.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: He can.
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: earn a $ 60 million contract this season. But who knows
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: if he can do it against a deceptively good Bills defense.
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: But I think the bigger concern for Buffalo is how
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: good is Joe Brady as a head coach? Because I'm
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: still under the belief that he is not the correct
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: answer for the Bills short term. Okay.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: And your prediction for this game is.
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: Uh, you might, this might be a little bit of
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: a hear me out. 24, 21 for Houston.
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Okay. So that actually is Buffalo on the spread because
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: the spread is Houston minus one and a half, but
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: you have a barely hitting the over of 44 and
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: a half. Brandon, take us home on this one.
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: One and a half on a spread tells me it's
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: going to be a very close game. I am incredibly
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: biased when it comes to Buffalo. Incredibly, incredibly biased. I
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: think that Josh Allen is the only good thing about
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: this Buffalo team. And yes, he has done nothing but
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: get better over the years. But I just don't think
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: that Buffalo's coaching staff is it for the long run,
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: like Nova said. I think Houston wins this one. I
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: think Houston wins this, and I think it is a
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: little bit of a closer game, but I think it's
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: going to be one of those games that's going to
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: be decided upon by a missed PAT or a missed
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: field goal by Buffalo.
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: Who's the Bills kicker, by the way? I think Matt
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: Prater was free agent. Is it still... Why am I
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: blanking on this thing? Because he wasn't playing last year.
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: Their, their, uh, their PK is Tyler Bass. Yeah.
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: That's how I was. Okay. So he's back.
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: Um, uh, but Brent, are you saying they hit the
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: over at 44 and a half?
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: If CJ Straub plays like the money that he thinks
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: he's worth, which is money that I don't believe that
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: he's worth him or Josh Allen. Um, I think they
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: probably hit the over. I think they probably exceed the over.
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: And like I said, I think it's, I think it's
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: decided on by a missed PAT or a missed field goal.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: All right. Well, that is the one o'clock window. And
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: now we get to talk about the four o'clock window,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: specifically the four 25 window, because there is no game
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: that starts at four Oh five.
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: Oh, thank God for that.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: Um, But the first game on it is another bathroom
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: break game. The Miami Dolphins and the Las Vegas Raiders.
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: Do we have to talk about that game? Yes.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: We do.
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: We unfortunately have to.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: Oh, God. Miami is trash. I'm not even looking at
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: their thing. Who do they name? Is their starting QB
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: the Raiders?
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: Kirk Cousins? Yeah, Kirk Cousins.
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think this is just going to be
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: even a close game. Like, what is it? Hold on.
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: I'll look at it. Hold on. Hold on. That's also
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: what I'm going to do for Miami.
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: But I think Devon is going to have a really
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: good game.
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: I don't think I don't think Miami's doing shit week one.
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: I don't think they're doing shit. Spreads three and a
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: half over under 41 and a half. I don't even
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: think it comes close to the 41.
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: I think both offenses are absolutely terrible. If anything, if
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: they come close, if they come close. Big, strong emphasis
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: on if. It's going to be the Brock Bowers show.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: You don't think it's going to be GT?
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: I think GT is going to have a hand in it,
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: but at the end of the day, I think it's
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: going to be Brock Bowers' show. I think Brock Bowers
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: has a hat trick in this game, honestly. Oh.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: Okay, so you have Vegas covering the spread.
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Vegas is going to cover the spread,
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: but I think it's going to be under 41.5.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: All right, and Nova, what is your call?
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: I do think the Raiders win this one, but I
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: think A-chan might have a deceptively good game for fantasy owners,
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: so I'm going to go ahead and put it bluntly
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: and say Vegas 27, Miami 10.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: And hitting the under. So that one we are completely
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: in unison on, and we didn't have to talk much
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: about it because that game is going to be bad.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: It's going to be bad unless you're a diehard Raiders fan.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: They actually exist in Vegas?
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: They're all over the world.
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: There's plenty of them here in SoCal. I don't know
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: what to say.
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: Well, that's SoCal. They used to be in SoCal.
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: The fan base is still strong.
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: True.
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: I mean, Ice Cube and his son are diehard Raiders fans, so.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: Uh, there, there is that, but now we go from
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: the bathroom break game of the four 25 window to
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: probably a sneaky good pick for game of the week.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: And it actually is America's game of the week because
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: it's got the aid team for Fox on the call.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: And that is going to be the green Bay Packers
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: at the Minnesota Vikings. How many years now has it
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: been where the Vikings and the Packers have started off
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: the season in week one.
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: I feel like I can hear all of us Googling
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: this right now.
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm looking at it. I'm literally looking at it
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: right now myself because I'm like, I don't think they
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: started it last year, but they might have. No, okay,
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: last year they started against the Bears. I think 24. Nope,
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: 24 was the Giants. It just feels like they always
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: played the Packers in week one, and in the last
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: three years they have not played the Packers in week one.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: So what the hell am I remembering?
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: Yeah, well, what do you want about it? Anyway, you
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: want to talk about this one to start?
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: Yeah. This is going to be a very interesting game
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: because there is no Micah Parsons for the Packers. He
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: is on the pup list until at least the week
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: five game. There's going to be no Josh Jacobs because
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: of his off the field incident.
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: He's on the commissioner's list.
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: And he's on the commissioner's list.
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: As he should be.
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: Anyway i mean so so josh jacobs out colin oliver
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: whoever the heck that is uh he's on ir savion
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: williams a wide receiver ir luke musgrave out micah parsons
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: out Trey Dean III, injured reserve. Jordan Riley, out. Thomas Yasmin, IR.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: Warren Brinson, questionable. Jonathan Baldwin II, IR. Danny Dettis-Sutton, questionable.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: And I almost said Carnington, but it's Carrington, Valentine. He's questionable.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: So literally on their injury report, it's either questionable, IR,
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: or out.
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: And I said that'd be a concern for the Packers
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: early in the season. I said that would be a concern.
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: Meanwhile, for the Vikings, they're either questionable or IR.
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: IR.
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: Their questionable players are Jacob Thomas, Caleb Tiernan, and Jacoby Thomas.
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: But their IR players are Marcus Allen, Jamar Jefferson, Jermar Jefferson.
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: So I know some Minnesota fans are probably like, wait,
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: he just said a Jefferson player? It can't be Justin, right?
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: It can't be Jet, right? Michael Juergens, Tyler Batty, and
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: Jamal Adams. And we remember talking about the Jamal Adams injury.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: because that was just so, so sad and unfortunate for him.
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: I think it'll come down to Jordan Love versus Kyler
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: Murray more so than anything else. And this might be
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: a hot take, But I think Kyler Murray is going
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: to be a better quarterback this year than Jordan Love.
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: So I'm taking Minnesota to win. I'm taking Minnesota to
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: cover that one and a half easily. And I'm saying
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: it's an over.
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: What do I think?
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: I don't think that the Kyler Murray take is honestly
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: all that bold. I think that's, I would agree with that.
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: I would, too. And I think the Packers defense will
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: be a lot worse than people think. I mean, obviously,
- 1:39:25Speaker 3: like a person's injury. I keep I keep saying it's
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: like I think it's going to be the big factor.
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: Why I think the Packers finish last in the north
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: is that I do think that defense will be exposed.
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: And I think this will be a final score of
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: Minnesota 30 and the Green Bay Packers 23.
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: And that's Minnesota covering the one and a half and
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: the over.
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: Jordan Addison, please get a touchdown.
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: Tell me he has them on fantasy without telling me
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: he has them on fantasy with that.
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: Call, Brandon. Reach.
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: What?
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: No, no, he just sounded like sleeper there. I still
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: can't believe the software did that.
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: Is that actually the first time any of you have
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: seen that?
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: That's the first time I've seen that.
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: It's the first time I can remember seeing it. I
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: damn sure didn't see it on ESPN.
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: Nor did I when I first played fantasy in 2015.
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: I do not remember that at all.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: All right, Brandon, what is your take on this game?
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: Oh, goodness. I think the Vikings went out. I think... man,
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: 44 and a half for the over-under, man. I think
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: if they do it, it's just going to be just barely,
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: barely doing it. I think it's going to be Minnesota
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: getting it 28-14. That's also an accurate word to think about.
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: That's technically under, but I.
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: Just don't... It is under.
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: I don't really see it being any higher than that
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: on both ends.
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: That's definitely fair. All right. We've got the next game
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: on here. Probably another game that we really don't care
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: all that much about, but might have some hype about it.
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: Washington and Philadelphia. Nova, I think you take the lead
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: on this one.
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: How much do you want to bet Jaden Daniels starts
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: his comeback season right here in this game? First of all,
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: I'm just going to ask that question to you two.
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: I could give it like a 35% chance of it happening.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: Let me check out Philadelphia's injury report. Andre Sam, IR.
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: Ja'Corian Bennett, IR. Grant Calcaterra, IR. Johnny Wilson, IR. Jonathan Greenard, out.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: tucker large out um cooper dejean is questionable i'm i
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: might actually bump it up to 40 on jayden daniels
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: having a return fest against that.
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: Because like a part hold on i need to double
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: check this real quick before i say anything more because
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: i do think jayden daniels will have a better season
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: this time around hopefully he doesn't get hurt by the
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: idiocy of dan quinn oh it's in philadelphia so um
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: So that might not be that great, depending on how
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: good the defensive line for the Eagles is. But I
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: think Jaden Daniels' athleticism should be returning, give or take.
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: You have Terry McCorn. You got Stephon Diggs. Well, you know,
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: he has a safety blanket. What else? That defense should
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: be pretty all right. I mean, they have already one
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: of the worst defenses. For some reason, they won veterans.
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: But I think that's just like the question mark for
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: the commanders. How good is Jaden Daniels from injury and
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: can he be protective and explosive? The thing about the Eagles,
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: this isn't about that their defense is being bad, it's
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: their offense. Because they went from arguably one of the
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: worst offenses with our coordinator, Kevin Petullo, to a new
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: one in Sean Mannion. And as we heard about it
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: during the preseason recaps with Brandon specifically, when Quinn Young
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: Mitchell got burned by A.J.
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: Brown.
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: It could be a little deceptive, and it also could
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: just be like, well, were they saving everything for the
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: regular season? Because that offense is the question mark, and
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: you know Philadelphia media is going to rival on Jalen
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: Hurts the moment he does something bad.
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: Are you sure it's going to be Jalen Hurts, or
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: are they going to go after Nick Sirian?
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: I think it could be both.
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: That being said, I do think the Eagles barely edge
- 1:44:06Speaker 3: out the Commanders. And it might be a shootout. I
- 1:44:09Speaker 3: actually do think it might be a shootout. I think
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: it's going to be 28-27.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: Alright, so you picked the Philadelphia.
- 1:44:24Speaker 3: Although I wouldn't be surprised if the Commanders still found
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: against the upset.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: So you're going to Take Washington with the points then
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: on the spread? Because the line is Philadelphia minus four
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: and a half.
- 1:44:41Speaker 3: I mean, I do think it will be a very
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: close game. I think it's 28-27, but take that for
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: what you will. I think it will be the cover
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: with that one. They say it'll come down to either
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: a field goal or it's going to come down to
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: whether or not a PAT is missed.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: Okay, and Brandon, what's your take on this game?
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: God, I hate Philadelphia so much.
- 1:45:07Speaker 3: I deeply made that clear.
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: I hate Philadelphia in every sport. It's not just the Eagles.
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: I hate, as a Boston Celtics fan, I also hate
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: the 76ers with a burning passion.
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: Welcome LeBron James.
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: Especially ever since we traded Jalen Brown to them as well.
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: But I digress. That's for like our Patreon podcast or something.
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: Just kidding. We don't actually have that.
- 1:45:32Speaker 3: Who knows? Maybe we can extend this into the NBA
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: world someday. Maybe.
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: But no, I think Philadelphia wins this one. I don't
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: think it's particularly close. I don't think it's 46 and
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: a half. I think it's under that. But I don't
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: think Washington does all that well here. I think Jaden
- 1:45:53Speaker 2: Daniels kind of gets a little exposed. To be real,
- 1:46:00Speaker 2: I think this is kind of realistic. I think it's
- 1:46:03Speaker 2: going to be 24-10 Philadelphia.
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: All right. So Philadelphia minus four and a half with
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: the under.
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: And I just realized I put the under by a point.
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, you did put the under by a point.
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: How about that?
- 1:46:25Speaker 3: Now, can we go over to the West Coast? Because
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: that's where I live.
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: Yes, we have the last game of the four o'clock window,
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: the last game of the late window. And that is
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: the Arizona Cardinals at the Los Angeles Chargers. Nova, you
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: can take the lead on this one.
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: I think the Cardinals are cooked.
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: Now we're talking a nice medium cooked or stick a
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: fork in them, they're well done cooked.
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: I think it's going to be medium because I'm putting
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: a lot of emphasis here saying that the Cardinals defense
- 1:47:03Speaker 3: has not really been impressive and The only thing that's
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: worth of note to question for the Cardinals is whether
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: or not Marvin Harrison Jr. can get out of his slump.
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: And how good is Jeremiah Love really? Because he got
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: injured in the preseason, obviously. So we don't really know
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: much more other than his one preseason game. But for
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: the Chargers, Mike McDaniel is the biggest question mark on
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: the offense. Because there's heavy implications that Justin Herbert can
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: benefit with this offense. With Marion Hampton, Ladd McConkie, as
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: well as the rest of the offense. Clinton Johnson, hopefully,
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: if he has hands, that Olai should be healthy for once,
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: except for the center, because I think I injured the serve.
- 1:47:45Speaker 3: But Rashawn Slater, Joe Ault, they should be perfectly aligned
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: to help Justin Herbert. The defense, that's another big question mark,
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: because Minter is obviously not a team anymore. And then
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: you have one of the best kickers in the league
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: in Cameron Dicker. Okay, so you got the Chargers... Yeah.
- 1:48:04Speaker 3: And I think it'll be like 35 to 30, 35
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: to 13. I don't think it's going to be close
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: at all. I expect, I expect the fans of the
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: chargers in Los Angeles. And so if I say they
- 1:48:15Speaker 3: have to leave happy.
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: Okay. Um, I mean, I've also got the Chargers winning,
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: but again, like I said with what game was it?
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: It was the Cleveland-Jacksonville one. I'm not a fan of
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: a spread being that high, especially in week one. So
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: even though I'm predicting the chargers to win, I say Arizona,
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: Arizona gets a backdoor cover. They're going to cover minus 10,
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: but I also say it's going to be under 47
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: and a half in this game. I say 24 to
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: 20 as a final.
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: Which just leaves Brandon.
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: Which just leaves Brandon. He is thinking long and hard
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: about his answer.
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: No, I'm just kind of listening to this. To be fair,
- 1:49:18Speaker 2: I did tell you I'll kind of take this a
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: little bit more seriously than my other little villain takes
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: in our prior episodes.
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: Those were perfect.
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: What do you mean? No, I agree. But at the
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: same time, one of my friends, to kind of reference
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: our lovely intertwined connection of the Pokemon world, one of
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: my buddies that manages the Carolinas team is a diehard
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: Arizona fan. What is wrong with him? I didn't think
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: those existed. I constantly rag him about this every time
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: that he mentions that. I'm like, Timmy, Timmy, man, you
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: got to do something else rather than saying it.
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: And here I thought our friend and tournament judge friend, Jam,
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: because he's a Jets fan. I'm like, wait, those exist?
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: They existed until Aaron Rodgers got hurt.
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: The greatest highlight video of all time. Running out with
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: the flag, and that's it.
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: And it's gone. But no, my friend Timmy is a
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: diehard Arizona fan, and he doesn't even think that they're
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: really even going to do that well this season. He
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: has no faith in Arizona whatsoever.
- 1:50:34Speaker 3: The only good thing they have is Trey McBride.
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: They have Trey McBride. They have arguably one of the
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: best tight ends in the league. That's it. That's their team.
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: It's Trey McBride. It is the Trey McBride show every game.
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: I think the Chargers win this one in a landslide.
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: I think Justin Herbert shows that he has the cannon
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: that people think that he already has. I think it's
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: also going to be the Ladd-McConkie show. I think they
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: open up the season. I think it's a pretty resounding... 38-10.
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: And that's an over. That is barely hitting the over there.
- 1:51:15Speaker 3: I don't know if the microphone picked up the whole
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: Chargers chant there.
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: Yes, it did. It definitely did there.
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: And yes, they do play that at the stadium.
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: How about that? But guys, we got two games left
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: for week one.
- 1:51:35Speaker 3: And I think Brandon should delete this one.
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Brandon's going to want to. He might
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: not even try to watch this game, but let's be real.
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: We're all going to be watching this game because as
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: the song starts, we've been waiting all day for Sunday night.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: I am not going to drop into some kind of
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: country twang that Carrie Underwood can do, even though Carrie
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: Underwood is still a goddess when it comes to music.
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: As someone who has seen her live, I would agree.
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: But we don't talk about that.
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: I will also say this, Brandon, and this might be
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: a little bit of an exaggeration, but this is from me.
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: I've actually said this. Lainey Wilson is this generation's Carrie
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: Underwood for country music. When you think about it, very beautiful,
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: blonde hair, blue eyes, that perfect Southern twang in their voice.
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: It's like, it's like, I'm looking in a mirror. All
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: I'm missing is Laney Wilson winning American idol.
- 1:52:47Speaker 2: No, I, I would agree with that, but, um, it's
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: Cowboys giants that y'all are wondering.
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:52:54Speaker 2: It's Cowboys Cowboys at the giants to make things a
- 1:52:58Speaker 2: little bit more interesting. I love the fact that Dallas
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: does not have a week one home game personally. Because
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: God forbid that we need the Cowboys fans going, it's
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: our year for winning a week one game. Again, looking
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: at the game cast on ESPN's page, you know, at
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: the time of this recording, the, you know, Dallas opens
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: up as a minus 2.5 and the over under, I'm sorry,
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: they up up minus three and the over under is
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: 48 and a half. 48 and a half feels incredibly high. Yeah.
- 1:53:36Speaker 3: Are you just thinking that Cowboys even start to seem
- 1:53:39Speaker 3: to remain awful?
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: So....
- 1:53:44Speaker 2: So, I'll give you both sides of this. I'll give
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: you what I think is going to happen, and I'll
- 1:53:49Speaker 2: give you what I want to happen. How's that sound?
- 1:53:53Speaker 3: Why haven't we done this from the beginning?
- 1:53:55Speaker 2: Well, it's been more realistic. This is one of my
- 1:53:58Speaker 2: things because I really hate the Dallas Cowboys almost as
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: much as I hate Philadelphia. So you just hate the
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: NFC East then? I mean, it's kind of fine, but
- 1:54:08Speaker 2: you know, whatever. And another reason is because I get
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: to rag on my girlfriend's family because her mom is
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: a diehard Dallas fan. So it's that time of year
- 1:54:18Speaker 2: where I get to just, you know, call them the
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: Dallas Cowgirls and watch her get all riled up. For
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: God's sakes, her Wi-Fi password has something to do with
- 1:54:24Speaker 2: the Dallas Cowboys. Let's be for real right now. I
- 1:54:28Speaker 2: do think, realistically, that Dallas wins this game. I think
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: they win along the lines of 20-17. I think both
- 1:54:39Speaker 2: offenses are kind of subpar. I think it's going to
- 1:54:44Speaker 2: be a little bit closer of a game. Even the
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: ESPN Matchup Predictor has Dallas favored at 57.2% to win
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: the game. So they think it's going to be a
- 1:54:53Speaker 2: closer game, just like I think it's going to be
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: a closer game as well. What I would like to
- 1:54:59Speaker 2: happen is I would like to see the return of
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: Jackson Dart. I would like to see the return of
- 1:55:05Speaker 2: Cam Scadaboo. And I would like to see the connection
- 1:55:09Speaker 2: that people were already seeing click prior to the two
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: of them getting hurt. That being said, I would really
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: like to see the Giants prove my 0-17 prediction wrong.
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: And I would like to see them beat the Cowgirls
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: by at least two scores. But the realistic take is
- 1:55:29Speaker 2: I think Dallas wins 2017.
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: Okay, covers the spread and a heavy under.
- 1:55:37Speaker 2: Very heavy under.
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: Nova, how do you want to take this one?
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: Do you really want to trust John Harbaugh with anything?
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: Let me make that clear first of all.
- 1:55:49Speaker 2: I do, actually.
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: He won a Super Bowl.
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: He won a Super Bowl, and he was just, the
- 1:55:54Speaker 2: man had no say in how he wanted to run
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: things in Baltimore, so why would he not run himself out,
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: you know?
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: No, he did that to himself. He choked all those games.
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: Exactly. He wanted out.
- 1:56:06Speaker 3: That just doesn't feel true at all. And also, the
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: Giants choked so many games last year. How is that
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: going to help?
- 1:56:12Speaker 2: The Giants were also really decimated with injuries last year.
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: Think about all the close games they had. Think about
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: all those close games they had, even with all the
- 1:56:20Speaker 2: injuries to their starting lineups.
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: And all those close games they should have won, but
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: they consistently choked.
- 1:56:27Speaker 2: Eh, tomato, tomato.
- 1:56:29Speaker 3: I don't think it's close at all. I think Dallas
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: wins 24-7.
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: No faith in the Giants.
- 1:56:36Speaker 3: None.
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: I mean, I am kind of.
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: Mean i'm in unison with you guys i say dallas
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: wins i say dallas covers the spread i say it's
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: under but i also looked this up the last time
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: the cowboys and the giants faced off in week one
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: in east rutherford new jersey do you guys want to
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: know what the final score of that game was.
- 1:57:01Speaker 3: What didn't the cowboys put 40 on that game I
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: knew I remembered something about that.
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: The final score of that game was 40 to nothing.
- 1:57:16Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: Now, will that happen again? Survey says no, but I mean,
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: props to Nova for getting that right on the money.
- 1:57:27Speaker 3: I knew I remembered something. It was like, oh, I
- 1:57:30Speaker 3: think it was the season that the Giants made the
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: divisional round that year, and then it got clobbered immediately.
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, Brandon, because he got the perfect guess. Brandon,
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: what do we have for our winner?
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: Hopefully an upset.
- 1:57:46Speaker 3: Hell no. Awesome. I need to put this out as well.
- 1:57:50Speaker 3: Jameis Winston just signed a two-year deal with the Giants.
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: Deserved.
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: Yeah, deserved.
- 1:57:58Speaker 2: The man's not really a great QB, but he's a
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: damn good leader.
- 1:58:02Speaker 3: Take that for what you will. He's probably going to
- 1:58:04Speaker 3: be the backup for a while.
- 1:58:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah, for sure. Hmm.
- 1:58:10Speaker 3: Well, and in other news, I think a Cowboys old line.
- 1:58:12Speaker 3: I think Tyler Smith just hit IR today, too.
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it did. He is getting, I think, thumb surgery.
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: I can pull up because I got Ian Rappaport. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: since I have thumb surgery, he's out at least four weeks.
- 1:58:31Speaker 2: Ooh, I.
- 1:58:33Speaker 3: How good is that Giants D-line that Dexter Horace got traded?
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: It's just Abdul Carter and Kate Montevideo?
- 1:58:41Speaker 2: Ooh. To kind of go along with the game, I
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: just opened up Twitter on my phone. Just kind of
- 1:58:48Speaker 2: look at this. And the first report on here six
- 1:58:51Speaker 2: minutes ago from Adam Schefter is the Giants released... veteran
- 1:58:57Speaker 2: wide receiver Darius Slayton.
- 1:59:00Speaker 3: What? I don't think he's that bad, but what?
- 1:59:13Speaker 2: This is not a parody account. This is the actual
- 1:59:16Speaker 2: Adam Schefter ESPN Insider. Six minutes ago, Giants released veteran
- 1:59:22Speaker 2: wide receiver Darius Slayton. Send tweet.
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: I mean, hey, I will. I mean, I'll take a
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: one-year flyer on Darius Slayton in Atlanta. Oh, my God.
- 1:59:34Speaker 3: I need just to police that offense at this rate.
- 1:59:38Speaker 2: You need all the help you can get, brother.
- 1:59:43Speaker 3: And then we have the Monday night finale, and this
- 1:59:45Speaker 3: is going to be the game I think everyone's going
- 1:59:47Speaker 3: to be talking about. It's the Broncos and the Chiefs.
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: It is the Broncos and the Chiefs. Brandon, take us home.
- 1:59:56Speaker 2: Oh man, y'all like pinning this particular kind of crap
- 1:59:59Speaker 2: on me, don't you? For my past opinions. I mean,
- 2:00:06Speaker 2: to be fair, I still think Patrick Mahomes is incredibly mid.
- 2:00:08Speaker 2: I'll die on that hill. I do. I do.
- 2:00:12Speaker 3: Let's talk about the Chiefs first. Yeah, that's what I'm
- 2:00:15Speaker 3: going to do.
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: That's exactly what I'm going to do. This is Patrick
- 2:00:18Speaker 2: Mahomes' first game back from his ACL tear. Against arguably
- 2:00:24Speaker 2: one of the top three, if not top five, defenses
- 2:00:27Speaker 2: in the league. This is going to be an incredible
- 2:00:32Speaker 2: mental challenge for Patrick Mahomes. Yes, he's had incredible rehab. Yes,
- 2:00:38Speaker 2: he's done contact practices or whatnot. Otherwise, he would not
- 2:00:41Speaker 2: be in a starting lineup right now if he was
- 2:00:43Speaker 2: not clear for any of that crap. It's very hard
- 2:00:48Speaker 2: to replicate practice reps. Against incredible defenses. I say this
- 2:00:56Speaker 2: with any defense. With how well the Texans did last year.
- 2:00:58Speaker 2: With how well Denver did last year. With the Legion
- 2:01:01Speaker 2: of Boom. With the team of Destiny from Baltimore. It's
- 2:01:04Speaker 2: really hard to replicate reps against defenses.
- 2:01:08Speaker 3: And right now with the dark side defense in Seattle.
- 2:01:11Speaker 2: Exactly. I think this is going to be one of
- 2:01:14Speaker 2: those things where Patrick Mahomes better pray to God his
- 2:01:17Speaker 2: O-line stays healthy all game long. Otherwise, this man's either
- 2:01:20Speaker 2: going to be spending half the game running for his life,
- 2:01:23Speaker 2: or he's going to be spending the other half getting sacked.
- 2:01:27Speaker 2: And I think the spread is plus three. I'm sorry,
- 2:01:31Speaker 2: the spread is plus three on Denver. Over-under is 42.5.
- 2:01:35Speaker 2: I don't think... I think it's an under. But I
- 2:01:39Speaker 2: think Denver wins it.
- 2:01:43Speaker 3: What do you got, Talon?
- 2:01:44Speaker 2: Um....
- 2:01:48Speaker 1: You said, uh, so Denver wins and that would be
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: Denver plus three.
- 2:01:53Speaker 2: Yep. Denver plus three, but I think it's an under,
- 2:01:57Speaker 2: under 32 and a half.
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: I'm in lockstep with you on Denver and that would
- 2:02:04Speaker 1: mean Denver wins with the spread, but I'm actually going
- 2:02:08Speaker 1: to say it's an over. I'm actually going to say that, uh,
- 2:02:16Speaker 1: I feel like with the way Jalen Waddle is going
- 2:02:19Speaker 1: to play and Cortland Sutton, I wouldn't be surprised if
- 2:02:22Speaker 1: Denver gets 30 on the Chiefs defense. And I mean,
- 2:02:28Speaker 1: if the Chiefs get 14, then they cover the spread.
- 2:02:31Speaker 1: So I'm going to say Denver 30 to 14. I
- 2:02:33Speaker 1: could see that.
- 2:02:40Speaker 3: I got the Broncos 23-17. I do think Kenneth Walker
- 2:02:43Speaker 3: gets a pretty brutal debut, but I think he gets
- 2:02:47Speaker 3: one touchdown on the ground. I feel like the receiving
- 2:02:52Speaker 3: core for the Chiefs is going to be really tested.
- 2:02:56Speaker 3: It's weird, but this is going to be my hot ticket.
- 2:02:59Speaker 3: I think Mahomes throws a pick six. Throwing a pick six.
- 2:03:07Speaker 3: I wouldn't be surprised if it'd be Riley Moss.
- 2:03:12Speaker 2: I could see that.
- 2:03:13Speaker 1: So that means Nova is also picking Denver.
- 2:03:19Speaker 3: That 23, 17 is my score prediction.
- 2:03:21Speaker 1: And that's an under. And with that, we have our
- 2:03:26Speaker 1: week one predictions and we're kind of in lockstep with
- 2:03:32Speaker 1: a lot of these, these games.
- 2:03:34Speaker 3: I mean, the only way we didn't really real was Carolina, Chicago.
- 2:03:38Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, that one, it could have really went either way,
- 2:03:43Speaker 2: but kind of going in lockstep with another Adam Schefter
- 2:03:48Speaker 2: tweet that people with fantasy options may want to hear
- 2:03:52Speaker 2: as well. Oh? For the second straight day, the Patriots
- 2:03:58Speaker 2: injury report, wow, I promise I can read, said that
- 2:04:02Speaker 2: running back Travion Henderson did not practice due to an
- 2:04:06Speaker 2: ankle injury. and that Henderson has now missed two weeks
- 2:04:12Speaker 2: of practice.
- 2:04:15Speaker 1: Oh.
- 2:04:17Speaker 2: So, I don't know about some of y'all, but I'm
- 2:04:19Speaker 2: fixing to go on my fantasy lineup and flex out
- 2:04:22Speaker 2: Travion Henderson. I do not trust a running back of
- 2:04:28Speaker 2: any kind, of any variety, on any team that has
- 2:04:32Speaker 2: missed two weeks of practice with an ankle injury going
- 2:04:34Speaker 2: against one of the best defenses in the league. I
- 2:04:38Speaker 2: don't trust it.
- 2:04:39Speaker 3: I don't. I mean, I would be inclined to agree.
- 2:04:43Speaker 1: I'm inclined to agree as well. And again, that's week
- 2:04:48Speaker 1: one of the NFL season.
- 2:04:50Speaker 3: So we're right, but we're probably going to be wrong.
- 2:04:56Speaker 2: Probably.
- 2:04:57Speaker 1: I mean, there's going to be some games that were right.
- 2:05:00Speaker 1: Some games that were wrong about. I know later in
- 2:05:03Speaker 1: this year, I will be doing live watch-alongs of some
- 2:05:09Speaker 1: of the games. Most notably... The Week 5 game? Probably
- 2:05:14Speaker 1: Week 5, but definitely Week 4, because Week 4 is
- 2:05:16Speaker 1: my 30th birthday.
- 2:05:19Speaker 2: Welcome to old. Great.
- 2:05:26Speaker 1: Yeah, welcome to old. I got a month left of
- 2:05:30Speaker 1: the 20s. I'm celebrating and mourning. And actually funnily enough,
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: the saints actually revealed their uniforms for that game. And
- 2:05:46Speaker 1: apparently they are going to be wearing white for that
- 2:05:51Speaker 1: home game. Kind of, kind of interesting. I'll say that
- 2:05:56Speaker 1: for that Monday night game, especially when they're going to
- 2:05:59Speaker 1: be wearing black on the road at Baltimore and wearing
- 2:06:02Speaker 1: black at home against Vegas, and wearing black at home
- 2:06:05Speaker 1: versus Minnesota.
- 2:06:08Speaker 3: I see.
- 2:06:09Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 2:06:11Speaker 1: Yeah, so that'll be a... I mean, again, we're talking
- 2:06:17Speaker 1: weeks ahead.
- 2:06:18Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 2:06:19Speaker 1: Yeah, we're talking weeks ahead now, but... That is going
- 2:06:23Speaker 1: to be it for week of not weeks for episode seven.
- 2:06:27Speaker 1: I promise I can speak English.
- 2:06:30Speaker 3: Are we sure we're through yet? Cause I think there's
- 2:06:32Speaker 3: one thing we're missing.
- 2:06:33Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 2:06:35Speaker 1: What could we be missing?
- 2:06:37Speaker 3: And this is, will be a much better improvement because
- 2:06:40Speaker 3: through the latest patch notes, the roughly the better segment
- 2:06:44Speaker 3: will get stronger from here on out.
- 2:06:47Speaker 1: Yes, that is true. So it may not just be...
- 2:06:50Speaker 1: You might not hear the police when we talk about it.
- 2:06:52Speaker 1: You're going to be hearing a lot of booing as well.
- 2:06:58Speaker 3: So what's one wild thing we could say about any
- 2:07:00Speaker 3: of the games from this week one? It could be
- 2:07:03Speaker 3: a prediction. Sorry, it's going to be the hot take. Geek,
- 2:07:06Speaker 3: I alluded to mine. I think Mahomes does roll a
- 2:07:08Speaker 3: pick six.
- 2:07:11Speaker 2: Um.
- 2:07:14Speaker 1: I'm going to go with a hot take that this
- 2:07:21Speaker 1: might be a really big hot take here, but I'm
- 2:07:26Speaker 1: going to say which one can I pick on this one?
- 2:07:31Speaker 2: I don't think any of y'all are going to pick
- 2:07:35Speaker 2: them on, so I'm not too worried about it.
- 2:07:36Speaker 3: I mean, if we think about it, sure, but I
- 2:07:39Speaker 3: think we're not going to from the looks of it.
- 2:07:43Speaker 1: I'm going to say Lamar Jackson. No, I'm not going
- 2:07:48Speaker 1: to go Lamar Jackson on this one. Actually, you.
- 2:07:52Speaker 2: Better not.
- 2:07:55Speaker 1: I mean, I picked Buffalo to beat Houston. I'm going
- 2:07:57Speaker 1: to say Buffalo wins and Josh Allen wins. throws seven touchdowns.
- 2:08:03Speaker 2: God, Jesus.
- 2:08:04Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:08:09Speaker 2: That kind of puts mine in a little bit of
- 2:08:10Speaker 2: a dumpster fire. Jesus. I mean, mine was going to
- 2:08:17Speaker 2: be a little bit of a hot take, but it
- 2:08:18Speaker 2: wasn't going to be something to set the fucking world
- 2:08:20Speaker 2: on fire. I don't know. Jesus. What the hell?
- 2:08:26Speaker 3: No, he's not going to have a Peyton Manning or
- 2:08:28Speaker 3: Nick Foles moment. He's just not. I'd be surprised if
- 2:08:31Speaker 3: he did.
- 2:08:34Speaker 2: So I'm going to stick with mine. Jesus, that's a touchdown. No, no,
- 2:08:39Speaker 2: not happening. Not a chance in hell does that happen.
- 2:08:45Speaker 2: God almighty. Hold on. I need to read. I need
- 2:08:49Speaker 2: to kind of put myself back up after this one.
- 2:08:52Speaker 3: I'm not even mad at the take. I'm just like,
- 2:08:54Speaker 3: what in the world did I just hear?
- 2:08:56Speaker 2: This man just pulled something out of his ass. I
- 2:08:59Speaker 2: don't know what to tell you on that one. No,
- 2:09:02Speaker 2: but my take is, and I kind of decided this
- 2:09:05Speaker 2: one whenever I was talking about it. I think Trevor
- 2:09:09Speaker 2: Lawrence was a 5TD game. I think he's going to
- 2:09:13Speaker 2: be one of the best performing QBs with one of
- 2:09:15Speaker 2: the highest QBRs, as well as probably one of the
- 2:09:19Speaker 2: best fantasy QBs in week one. Okay. Not necessarily five
- 2:09:27Speaker 2: passing touchdowns. I think he has five total offensive touchdowns. Okay.
- 2:09:35Speaker 1: All right.
- 2:09:36Speaker 2: Well.
- 2:09:37Speaker 1: That is going to end the week one predictions of
- 2:09:42Speaker 1: the Ruffling the Feathers podcast. And once again, ladies and gentlemen,
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: we want to thank you guys so much for your
- 2:09:48Speaker 1: support with the podcast. We are having a lot of
- 2:09:51Speaker 1: fun getting these episodes out for you guys. And it's
- 2:09:55Speaker 1: just so great that we have real football this week.
- 2:09:58Speaker 1: Ain't it, guys?
- 2:10:00Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 2:10:02Speaker 1: We have waited long and hard. May have offered a
- 2:10:08Speaker 1: couple of firstborn childs. Nova wants to do the 6'7.
- 2:10:12Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 2:10:22Speaker 1: Yeah, so we are going to end it there, ladies
- 2:10:25Speaker 1: and gentlemen. Thank you so much. We will be back
- 2:10:27Speaker 1: next week recapping week one of the NFL season and
- 2:10:31Speaker 1: previewing week two. So for Supernova and for Brandon, I'm
- 2:10:36Speaker 1: Talent Master Jay saying we'll see you next time.
