- 0:00Leviticus chapter 25. Let's pray.
- 0:05Father God, we thank you for another day to come and to
- 0:08worship you in spirit and truth. We thank you God for every
- 0:13single word, every single chapter.
- 0:15Lord, we thank you, God, that you woke us up and you've given
- 0:20us a reason to live. Thank you, Lord, for one more
- 0:23day to come and to get to know you, Father, to get to know a
- 0:30different facet of who you are. Thank you God, for the
- 0:34infallible, inerrant word. Thank you God, for the church.
- 0:39Lord, help us to be your hands and feet.
- 0:42Lord, highlight our gifts today. Show us, Lord, where it is in
- 0:47the body that you want us to be. Help us, Father, to be faithful,
- 0:53Lord, in sharing our testimony and sharing the good news.
- 0:57Lord, thank you for the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 1:00Thank you for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
- 1:03Thank you, God, for all the many things that you've already done
- 1:08today. And Lord, I just pray that
- 1:10somebody will get saved. Today is the day of salvation.
- 1:15Lord, heal our bodies and heal our minds and bring the
- 1:18prodigals home. Father, we love you, God.
- 1:21Heal marriages, Lord, raise up righteous leaders unto yourself.
- 1:26God. Well, we pray for the sanctity
- 1:29of life. God, I pray for struggling
- 1:32mothers to choose life. Father, we pray for the peace.
- 1:40Jerusalem. It's in Jesus Christ, holy and
- 1:46precious name that I pray. Amen.
- 1:50Let's start in verse one. And the Lord spoke unto Moses in
- 1:56Mount Sinai, saying to speak to the children of Israel, and say
- 2:01unto them, When you come into the land which I gave you, then
- 2:06shall the land keep a Sabbath unto the Lord.
- 2:08So notice there that he tells them they are going to make it.
- 2:13If they would hold on to these words, then they would know that
- 2:18they do not need to fear, do not need to be afraid whenever there
- 2:22are rival nations coming against them, whenever they are
- 2:26seemingly lost out there in the wilderness.
- 2:29They need to know the words of God, that God said when you come
- 2:33into the land. And we have the same promise,
- 2:37friends. We can know that we know that we
- 2:40know that we know that we're going to make it home.
- 2:43We're just pilgrims passing through a strange land, and when
- 2:46this life throws everything that it has at us, all the troubles
- 2:51and the cares of this life, we can know that we know that we
- 2:54know that we know the greater is he who's living in US than he
- 2:58who is in the world. We can know that we know that we
- 3:01know that we know that no one can snatch us out of God's
- 3:05hands. And we can know that we know
- 3:07that we know that we know, friends, that in this life we
- 3:10will have trouble but take harm because Jesus Christ overcame
- 3:15the world. And if they hated him first,
- 3:17they're going to hate us. Friends, we can know that we're
- 3:20going to make it home and we do not need to fear or be afraid.
- 3:26Verse three, six years shall you sow your field.
- 3:29Six years shall you prune your vineyard and gather the fruit
- 3:34thereof? We're going to get into this
- 3:35long section here where God is being a great husbandman, God is
- 3:41being a great vine dresser, God is being the great shepherd, God
- 3:45is being the great gardener. God knows his land that he
- 3:49created. He knows every molecule, He
- 3:52knows every atom. He knows it at the very smallest
- 3:56minute level. He knows the soil composition.
- 3:59He knows what's good, and He's telling them what is good for
- 4:03them. But they must trust him because
- 4:06in our minds it's better to keep working day and night, night and
- 4:10day. But we don't realize, friends,
- 4:13that there is a supernatural spiritual application to
- 4:17actually believe in God and actually doing what God asks us
- 4:21to do. And then God comes in, He does
- 4:24the Super after we do the natural.
- 4:26When God says rest, it's for our own good.
- 4:28When he says let the land rest, it's for its own good.
- 4:31Friends, we need to know that it can produce more if we let it
- 4:35rest. And it's counterintuitive and it
- 4:37seems counterproductive. But when we go and we do not
- 4:41rest and we do not stop, and we do not let the land rest,
- 4:44friends, it will actually produce less and less and less
- 4:48and less. And God knows what he's talking
- 4:50about. God is the one who created our
- 4:53bodies. God's the one who created the
- 4:55soil. God's the one who created
- 4:57everything to behave in the way that He wanted it to.
- 5:02He had it in his mind before he ever spoke it into existence.
- 5:06And all we do is we get out of our own intellect, out of our
- 5:09own way, and we get centered in with where He wants us to be.
- 5:14And you're going to see so much fruit in your life whenever you
- 5:18do things God's way, you're going to see the the devourer
- 5:22get rebuked, the windows thrown open, so much blessing that you
- 5:26can't even contain it. Friends, 4 But in the 7th year
- 5:32shall be a Sabbath of rest unto the land, a Sabbath for the
- 5:36Lord. You shall neither sow your field
- 5:40nor prune your vineyard. Five, that which grows of its
- 5:44own accord of your harvest you shall not reap, neither gather
- 5:47the grapes, the vine undressed, for it is a year of rest unto
- 5:51the land. So here he's saying Let it go.
- 5:55Quit trying to be greedy. Actually, take a day of rest.
- 6:02Do not let fear be your motivator, friends.
- 6:06Let the word of God wash over you today.
- 6:10Let the word of God be your meat and your water your drink.
- 6:15Let the word of God be all that you need.
- 6:23Six And the Sabbath of the land shall be meat for you, for you
- 6:27and for your servant, for your maid, for your higher servant,
- 6:31for the stranger that sojourns with you, 7 and for your cattle,
- 6:34and for the beasts that are in your land.
- 6:37All the increase thereof be meat.
- 6:41So he's going to provide for them.
- 6:45God's going to make sure that there is enough grown to provide
- 6:50for them on the time of rest. 8 And you shall #7 Sabbaths of
- 6:56years unto you, 7 * 7 years. And the space of the seven
- 7:01sabbaths of years shall be unto you 49 years.
- 7:07So here's the year of Jubilee, and we are going to get into
- 7:12this section where God is going to talk about the forgiveness of
- 7:16debts. He's going to talk about how
- 7:19they are to be different than the lands all around them, that
- 7:25gods called them to a higher order, a place of faith and
- 7:30trust in Him and His provision, and a place of justice.
- 7:36Friends, we need to understand that God cares for the poor.
- 7:41God cares for the broken hearted and for the downtrodden.
- 7:46God cares for every walk of life because we are all made in His
- 7:51image and He wants us to always keep in mind that people are
- 7:58His. They're not property.
- 8:02They're not for us to usurp our authority over, to Lord over.
- 8:07He is God and we are His creation.
- 8:10He is the Creator, friends, and we bow in reverence unto Him.
- 8:15No matter how mighty you are, man, no matter how wealthy you
- 8:18are, man, you are always going to be dealt with, whether it is
- 8:25through this life or in the life to come.
- 8:29And death is the great equalizer, friends, the rich and
- 8:33the poor must both die and meet their maker. 9 Then shall you
- 8:41cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the 10th day of the
- 8:457th month, and the day of Atonement.
- 8:47You shall make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. 10 And
- 8:52you shall hallow the 50th year, and proclaim liberty throughout
- 8:55all the land unto the inhabitants thereof.
- 8:58It shall be a jubilee unto you, and you shall return every man
- 9:03to his possession, and you shall return every man to his family.
- 9:07So if they had hired themselves out to pay off a debt, then they
- 9:14were to be released at this time because God actually cares.
- 9:19God doesn't just want people to be in a perpetual state of
- 9:24servitude. God desires for us to be free in
- 9:28whom the sun sets. Free is free indeed.
- 9:31Friends, just because you have an immense amount of debt does
- 9:37not mean that you are not free. That is something you need to
- 9:42realize. God has set you free, and even
- 9:45though we keep putting these chains of bondage back on
- 9:48ourselves, it does not take away from the fact that God has set
- 9:54you free. And you are free, friends.
- 9:57And he's going to tell us to owe no man nothing. 11 The jubilee
- 10:07shall that 50th year be unto you.
- 10:10You shall not sow neither reap that which grows of itself in
- 10:14it, nor gather the grapes in it of your vine undressed. 12 For
- 10:20it is a jubilee. It shall be holy unto you, You
- 10:23shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.
- 10:26So he's saying that they're going to have plenty enough
- 10:30provision. They do not need to worry about
- 10:32working during this year of the Jubilee.
- 10:36Let the ground rest. 13 In the year of the Jubilee you shall
- 10:42return every man to his possession.
- 10:44So they were not to try to take possession of the land.
- 10:48It all belonged to God. It belonged to the allotted
- 10:52tribes that we're going to see in the book of Joshua.
- 10:55You're going to need to know that God here is already telling
- 10:59them that they're going to take the land and he's going to give
- 11:02them a possession. 14 And if you sell ought unto your neighbor,
- 11:08or buy anything of your neighbor's hand, you shall not
- 11:12oppress one another. So there it is, friends.
- 11:15They are to treat each other with dignity and respect. 15
- 11:21According to the number of years after the jubilee, shall you buy
- 11:25of your neighbor, and according to the number of years of the
- 11:28fruit, shall he sell it to you? 16 According to the multitude of
- 11:32years shall you increase the price thereof, and according to
- 11:36the fewness of years shall you diminish the price of it, and
- 11:40according to the number of the years of the fruits does he sell
- 11:44unto you. So there it is, friends.
- 11:46It was not just A1 size fits all.
- 11:50This was to be actually calculated based upon how many
- 11:55years it would be until Jubilee, and that would be the price,
- 12:00because at Jubilee everything reset back to the way that it
- 12:05should be. 17 You shall not therefore press one another, but
- 12:10you shall fear your God, for I am the Lord your God.
- 12:14That's what we need, friends. We need the fear of the Lord.
- 12:16We need holy reverence in this hour. 18 Wherefore you shall do
- 12:22my judgments, and keep my judgments, and do them, and you
- 12:26shall dwell in the land and safety.
- 12:28Praise God for that. He's promising them safety if
- 12:31they will do what he's asking them to do. 19 In the land shall
- 12:36yield her fruit, and you shall eat your fill and dwell in its
- 12:40safety. So you need to know that God's
- 12:43telling them that if they will actually do the things that he's
- 12:46telling them to do, it will go well with them. 20 And if you
- 12:52shall say, What shall we eat the 7th year, behold, we shall not
- 12:57sow nor gather in our increase. So they're worried on this sixth
- 13:01year if they don't do what they've been doing, they're not
- 13:05going to be able to eat the next year.
- 13:07What does God say? 21 Then I will command my
- 13:10blessing upon you the 6th year, and it will bring forth fruit
- 13:15for three years. So God and his amazing knowledge
- 13:21and wisdom, He has preprogrammed the soil on the 6th year to do a
- 13:29triple increase. And that would be for that year,
- 13:34that would be for the 7th year. That would be for the 8th year.
- 13:39And then they would sow and be able to eat again.
- 13:45God knows what he's doing. 22 And you shall sow the 8th year
- 13:58and eat yet of old fruit until the 9th year, until their fruits
- 14:02come in, you shall eat of the old store.
- 14:05So that's what you need to know is that they would have plenty
- 14:07put up because that sixth year was a super crop where it was a
- 14:12triple amount. Because God is so incredibly
- 14:17wise. He knows how to take care of us
- 14:20if we'll trust Him. We don't need to just spin our
- 14:23wheels all the time trying to be autonomous and live however we
- 14:28want to live and then ask God to Co sign on our mess.
- 14:33We must do things the way that He is prescribed, of how He has
- 14:38written it into the fabric and the DNA of how this life works.
- 14:4523 The land shall not be sold forever.
- 14:48The land is mine, for you are the strangers and sojourners
- 14:51with me. That still is applicable to
- 14:53today. Friends, the land of Israel
- 14:56belongs to the Jews. You need to know that that the
- 15:01land that they're on right now is only a fraction of what has
- 15:04been promised to them. And we will see it, friends.
- 15:08We're going to see it with our own eyes in the Millennium that
- 15:13the borders get re established to what God has said, and we're
- 15:18going to get to see the Ezekiel temple there in that time.
- 15:22What an amazing thought. 24 And in the land of your possession
- 15:27you shall grant a redemption for the land. 25 And if your brother
- 15:31be waxed poor and has sold away some of his possession, and if
- 15:37any of his kin come to redeem it, then he shall redeem that
- 15:41which is his brothers. So we're going to get into this
- 15:44section about the kinsman Redeemer and how somebody next
- 15:48to kin can come and pay the debt and to get the families land
- 15:51back. 26 And if the man have none to redeem it, and himself
- 15:56be able to redeem it, 27 then let him count the years of the
- 16:00sale of it, and restore the over plus unto the man to whom he
- 16:04sold it, that he may return unto his possession.
- 16:08So God here is very clear. Then when he allots the land to
- 16:12each of the tribes, that's who it belongs to forever, and there
- 16:18will be a great reset to where in this, this time of Jubilee,
- 16:23people get to go back to their land. 28 But if he is not able
- 16:30to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in
- 16:34the hand of him that bought it until the year of jubilee, and
- 16:38in it the jubilee shall go out, and he shall return to his
- 16:42possession. 29 And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled
- 16:47city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is
- 16:50sold within a full year may he redeem it.
- 16:53So there was a difference between a city dwelling house
- 16:58and farmland. The farmland, friends, was very
- 17:01important for their sustainability, the farmland
- 17:07they desperately needed, and this walled city had a different
- 17:13idea behind it. This would have been inside of
- 17:17the city. And he sang for a full year.
- 17:20It can be redeemed. 31 But the houses of the villages which
- 17:25have no wall rounding about them, shall be counted as the
- 17:29fields of the country. They may be redeemed, and they
- 17:34shall go out in the jubilee. So there it is, friends, you
- 17:38need to know that at the 50th year it went back to the right
- 17:41tribe, back to the right family. 32 Notwithstanding the cities of
- 17:46the Levites, the houses of the cities of their possession, may
- 17:50the Levites redeem at any time. This was the Levitical priest,
- 17:55the lineage, and they were allotted no land, and God was
- 18:00their possession. And he's telling them that they
- 18:02could always at any time redeem their dwelling. 33 And if a man
- 18:10purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold in the
- 18:13city of his possession shall go out in the year of jubilee.
- 18:17For the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession
- 18:20among the children of Israel. So that's what God is telling
- 18:23them, that they will always get to go back to their houses, no
- 18:28matter if they sell them out. 34 But the fields of the suburbs of
- 18:32the cities may not be sold, for it is their perpetual
- 18:37possession. So there God is telling the
- 18:40people not to try to encroach on any of the limited amount of
- 18:45space that they have. 35 And if your brother be grown poor and
- 18:51have fallen in decay with you, then you shall relieve him,
- 18:55yeah, though he be a stranger, a sojourner, that he may live with
- 18:59you. So here this is the law of the
- 19:01land with the poor brother. 36 Take you no interest in him or
- 19:09increase, but fear your God that your brother may live with you.
- 19:14So here, whenever you loan money, they were not to try to
- 19:17charge any kind of interest on it. 37 You shall not give the
- 19:22money upon usury, nor lend him your victuals for increase.
- 19:28So here they were not to try to make merchandise out of their
- 19:31fellow man. 38 I am the Lord your God, which brought you
- 19:36forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan
- 19:40and to be your God. So here God has a different
- 19:43economy, and that's what you need to understand.
- 19:47We operate in a different economy than the rest of the
- 19:50world and so many Christians are so completely obsessive over
- 19:55money. And Jesus tells us that you
- 19:58cannot serve both God and mammon.
- 20:01You will love 1 and you will hate the other.
- 20:03That is that is period, end of story.
- 20:07And then we read in Timothy that those who have increased think
- 20:13that that means that they are more godly and it does not.
- 20:17We need to be content. We need godliness with
- 20:22contentment, which is great gain.
- 20:24It is not great gain just because you have money.
- 20:28And here God is telling us to operate within a different
- 20:32economy than the rest of the world.
- 20:34We should not look like the rest of the world, Friends, We put
- 20:38our full faith, our full trust every single moment of every
- 20:43single day. We rely on God to draw our next
- 20:46breath for the next heartbeat. Friends, that's the reality that
- 20:51we walk in. We do not operate like the rest
- 20:54of the world with four O 1 KS and retirements.
- 20:57We do not operate like the rest of the world.
- 20:59And yes, we steward God's money and yes, we need to be open
- 21:03handed and yes, there are some who are gifted at giving and
- 21:07praise God. Hallelujah for those realities.
- 21:10But by and large, on the grand scheme of things, money will
- 21:14actually drag you away from faith and from loving God and a
- 21:19full dependence upon Him. 40 But as a hired servant and as
- 21:57a sojourner, he shall be with you, and shall serve you unto
- 22:00the year of jubilee. 41 Then shall he depart from you, both
- 22:04he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own
- 22:08family, and unto the possessions of the fathers shall he return.
- 22:12So God is telling them to release them and to not hold
- 22:17them forever, not hold them for life.
- 22:20They are to be released at Jubilee. 41 He's going to return
- 22:26to his father. 42 For they are my servants, which I brought
- 22:30forth out of the land of Egypt. They shall not be sold as bond
- 22:34men. We're not to make merchandise of
- 22:37our brothers. 43 You shall not rule over him with rigor.
- 22:41You shall fear your God. It's what we need.
- 22:44We need the fear of the Lord. We need holy reverence in this
- 22:47hour. 44 both your bond men and your bond maids, which you shall
- 22:53be of the heathen that are around about you of them shall
- 22:56you by bond men and bond maids. So he's telling the Israelites
- 23:01and the Jews that every single one of them are God's peculiar
- 23:06chosen people. But if they are going to have
- 23:10bond servants or bond maids to choose them out from the heathen
- 23:15nations, 45 Moreover, of the children of the strangers that
- 23:21do sojourn among you, of them shall you buy, and their
- 23:25families that are with you, which they begat in your land,
- 23:29of they shall be your possession. 46 And you shall
- 23:33take them as an inheritance for your children after you to
- 23:37inherit them for a possession. They shall be your bondsman
- 23:40forever, but over your brothers, the children of Israel, you
- 23:44shall not rule over one another with rigor.
- 23:48So here he's saying that for the Israelites who were allotted the
- 23:52land, they get to go back into their allotted land.
- 23:56That's what God desires for them.
- 23:58If they were to have indentured servants who were to come and to
- 24:02willfully work with them or to pay off a debt, then that was OK
- 24:07to go past the Jubilee. But for every single Jewish
- 24:11person, they were to go back to their allotted land that God's
- 24:15going to give them. 47 And if a soldier owner or a stranger grow
- 24:20rich by you and your brother that dwells by him, grow poor
- 24:25and sell himself to the stranger, the soldier owner by
- 24:29you, or to the stock of the stranger's family. 48 After that
- 24:34he is sold, he may be redeemed again.
- 24:37One of his brothers may redeem him.
- 24:39So here is talking about a Jew that would go and sell
- 24:43themselves over to somebody who was rich, and he's going to talk
- 24:50about this kinsman Redeemer who's able to buy them back out
- 24:54of that situation. 49 Either his uncle or his uncle's son may
- 24:59redeem him, or any that is near of kin unto him, and his family
- 25:06may redeem him. For if he is able, he may redeem
- 25:10himself. So that's what you need to know,
- 25:12that if somebody found themselves in that situation,
- 25:16they were to be redeemed and taken out of that situation. 50
- 25:21And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year
- 25:24that he was sold to him unto the year of jubilee.
- 25:28And the price of his sales shall be according to the number of
- 25:31years, according to the time of a hired servant shall he be with
- 25:35him. 51 If there be yet many years behind, according unto
- 25:40them, he shall give again the price of his redemption out of
- 25:43the money that he was bought for. 52 And if there be but a
- 25:48few years unto the year of jubilee, and he shall count with
- 25:52him, and according to his years shall he give him again the
- 25:55price of his redemption. 53 And as a yearly hired servant shall
- 26:00he be with him, and the other shall not rule with rigor over
- 26:05him in your sight. 54 And if he be not redeemed in those years,
- 26:10and he shall go out in the year of jubilee, both he and his
- 26:13children with him we'll end on. 55 For unto me the children of
- 26:17Israel are servants. They are my servants whom I
- 26:21brought forth after the land of Egypt.
- 26:23I am the Lord your God. So God has a peculiar love
- 26:27obsession with the Jews, and it's still going on today.
- 26:31He could have eradicated and wiped them off the map many
- 26:34times, but the ethnic Jews, friends, are going to be there
- 26:38in the end. They're going to make it all the
- 26:40way to the end because God is supernaturally protecting them.
- 26:45Even in their disobedience. Our Messiah came through them
- 26:53and also the Antichrist will come through them.
- 26:58And you can see here that there is 2 completely opposite ends of
- 27:03the spectrum, but ultimately, God is the one who is
- 27:08supernaturally protecting them. And we're going to learn that in
- 27:11the next chapter. You're going to get to see how
- 27:14if they do what is right, God will supernaturally bless them.
- 27:19But if they do what is wrong, He is going to bring them so low,
- 27:25but He never turns his back on them.
- 27:28And look how they're still around today and they're going
- 27:30to be here and there's nothing you can do about it.
- 27:33They're going to make it all the way to the end.
- 27:37I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's
- 27:40Word. I know I sure have.
- 27:43I'm praying for you. I love you.
- 27:45We'll see you back here to Morrow.
- 27:47God bless you.
