- Lucas: Hey, welcome back to Learn Cantonese with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 153 already! Remember last time we talked about white and black? Lucas: Yeah, colours are great, but today I thought we'd go outside and look at something else. Luna: Oh, what's that? Lucas: Birds! In Cantonese, a bird is 雀仔. Say it with me: 雀仔. Luna: 雀仔. Lucas: Good. 雀仔. That's a little bird. Now, if you see a beautiful bird, you can say 呢隻雀仔好靚. This bird is very pretty. 呢隻 means 'this one', 雀仔 is 'bird', 好靚 is 'very pretty'. Try it: 呢隻雀仔好靚. Luna: 呢隻雀仔好靚. Oh, I like that! So if I see a cute bird? Lucas: You can say 好得意! That means 'so cute'. So 呢隻雀仔好得意. But today we're focusing on 靚. Let's practice more. Imagine you're at the park and you see a bird in a tree. In Cantonese: 雀仔喺樹上. 喺 means 'in' or 'at', 樹上 means 'on the tree'. So 雀仔喺樹上. Say it. Luna: 雀仔喺樹上. That's like 'the bird is on the tree'? Lucas: Exactly! Now, if you want to say 'I see a bird', it's 我見到雀仔. 我見到 means 'I see'. So 我見到雀仔. Your turn. Luna: 我見到雀仔. Easy! So I could say 我見到雀仔喺樹上? Lucas: Absolutely! That would be 'I see a bird on the tree'. Great sentence. Let's do a quick scene. Pretend we're at the park. You point and say: 呢隻雀仔好靚. Luna: 呢隻雀仔好靚! And you could say: 雀仔喺樹上. Lucas: Right. And then I say: 我見到雀仔. Now you: 好得意! Luna: 好得意! Oh, I love that. It's like a mini conversation. Lucas: Exactly. Let's go through all the phrases one more time. First, bird: 雀仔. Luna: 雀仔.
