- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes nine twelve, nine thirteen, and nine fourteen,
- 0:19Speaker 1: The Strongest Man in the World to ten Meru, the
- 0:24Speaker 1: Thieves Brigade Chief, Everyone is Annihilated, Kaido's furious blast Breath,
- 0:32Speaker 1: and Finally Clashing the ferocious Loofy versus Kaido. In these episodes,
- 0:42Speaker 1: I can't help but laugh at the fact that that
- 0:46Speaker 1: is titled finally Clashing. In terms of arcs and the
- 0:53Speaker 1: pacing we just got here, I feel like this is
- 0:57Speaker 1: perfectly reasonable to assume we aren't going to be clash.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Just seems like a little ledatorializing to me. Welcome to
- 1:06Speaker 1: spoil Me, Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Thank you very much to Florian for commissioning this episode.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Oh my god, you guys, this is a wild couple
- 1:39Speaker 1: of trio. I guess I should say of episodes I
- 1:49Speaker 1: it has been a while since any Big Bads attack
- 1:57Speaker 1: has been this wildly impressive to me, and like I
- 2:05Speaker 1: say this fully acknowledging that Dophie's power is terrifying. What
- 2:11Speaker 1: Big Mom can do literally like sucking life force and
- 2:14Speaker 1: soul out of you, like they are by no means
- 2:18Speaker 1: small potatoes operators. But as much as those abilities are
- 2:26Speaker 1: bonkers and o P, this is just a different thing.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I think it's not even about what he can do,
- 2:38Speaker 1: although that's certainly obviously a major part of it. It's
- 2:43Speaker 1: more that, like the size of him is so completely
- 2:49Speaker 1: out of proportion to everything. I don't the way that
- 2:56Speaker 1: he's hovering over the town. He's the size of the island, like,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I know, not really. At one point we do actually
- 3:07Speaker 1: finally get the camera kind of pulling out, and he
- 3:11Speaker 1: really is like the size of this one town. But nevertheless,
- 3:18Speaker 1: like we've seen some folks who can turn into dragons,
- 3:22Speaker 1: and this is a completely orders of magnitude larger. I mean,
- 3:31Speaker 1: this is giving dread God from Cradle kind of thing.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I just personally, when Lufy decides that he's going to
- 3:43Speaker 1: fight Kaido, was like, how, how what are you even
- 3:49Speaker 1: gonna do? I should have realized that his answer was
- 3:52Speaker 1: going to simply be I will punch him in the head, because, like,
- 3:57Speaker 1: you know, that makes sense. But even so, I mean, loofy,
- 4:07Speaker 1: he has known at other points we are too weak
- 4:12Speaker 1: for what we are up against, and the best bet
- 4:14Speaker 1: for us is to simply try and escape. And I
- 4:18Speaker 1: think that the fact that Tama got so we think
- 4:24Speaker 1: and I don't. I don't think. But as of right
- 4:27Speaker 1: now he thinks that Tama has been killed by Kaido.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I think that's just meant to have completely worn away
- 4:33Speaker 1: any tiny sense that he has left, you know, like
- 4:40Speaker 1: he this is it's a different thing that he killed
- 4:44Speaker 1: a child, potentially. Seraphim says, So that's the powers of
- 4:51Speaker 1: the four Emperors. Guy who can create earthquakes, lady who
- 4:55Speaker 1: can rip your soul out, fucking dragon, and Shanks, who
- 4:57Speaker 1: has no devil for and yet is on there level
- 5:00Speaker 1: for sheer badass ory. I always forget that Shanks is
- 5:03Speaker 1: one of the Emperors. It's just crazy. Florian says, I
- 5:07Speaker 1: was so shocked watching this the first time. Like zero
- 5:10Speaker 1: to one hundred feels understated to me, or is it
- 5:13Speaker 1: zero to sixty? I think people say zero to sixty
- 5:18Speaker 1: most often, but zero to one hundred is perfectly acceptable
- 5:21Speaker 1: as well. But yeah, it's it's a the thing. I
- 5:30Speaker 1: think that also had me sort of like, why how
- 5:35Speaker 1: are you even going to try with Lufy attempting to
- 5:40Speaker 1: attack I shouldn't say attempting, because he does attack him
- 5:43Speaker 1: but like, we know how many things Kaido has lived through,
- 5:47Speaker 1: because he just almost seems like he can't be killed,
- 5:52Speaker 1: like he is just invulnerable somehow. And I had to
- 5:57Speaker 1: remind myself that I'm not sure if Lufy even knows
- 6:00Speaker 1: that or not. We got to see it because we
- 6:03Speaker 1: had that weird narrator man telling us when the camera
- 6:07Speaker 1: view switched over to Kaido like falling from basically a
- 6:12Speaker 1: sky island to the surface of the planet and being fine,
- 6:18Speaker 1: you know, so, Seraphim says, just because zero to sixties
- 6:24Speaker 1: with cars, acceleration is measured measured instance, that's the normal
- 6:28Speaker 1: highway cruising speed, but like zero two hundred could still
- 6:32Speaker 1: be acceleration of a car and our cruising is seventy five.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I like, for me, if we're gonna be talking about
- 6:40Speaker 1: like a high speed, it would be like zero to eighty,
- 6:44Speaker 1: I would, I would think. But I believe that zero
- 6:48Speaker 1: to sixty is like one of those that got established
- 6:50Speaker 1: early on in the life cycle of the automobile industry,
- 6:55Speaker 1: And so sixties sounded real fast at the time. Now
- 7:00Speaker 1: we're just like, yawn, why are you only doing sixty
- 7:02Speaker 1: on the highway? This is dangerous. You're going too slow anyway, Okay,
- 7:09Speaker 1: I have to start off with the strongest man in
- 7:13Speaker 1: the world, Chautenmuru, the Thieves Brigade chief, And I gotta
- 7:20Speaker 1: be honest, kids, I really want Schtenmuru to be anything.
- 7:27Speaker 1: And he's just really I mean, I don't know if
- 7:30Speaker 1: that's supposed to be the point, but he's not making
- 7:32Speaker 1: much of an impression on me. I there's I don't know,
- 7:39Speaker 1: I don't know. I feel like maybe it's the fact
- 7:47Speaker 1: that he just seems so unmoved, but the fact that
- 7:54Speaker 1: he you know what it is, all right, you know
- 7:57Speaker 1: what it is here? It is when I stop and
- 7:59Speaker 1: think of it, because sometimes I'll be like, why am
- 8:01Speaker 1: I having this reaction to a person? You know? And
- 8:07Speaker 1: I have to realize that in this case, my reaction
- 8:11Speaker 1: is coming from a place of don't we have enough
- 8:15Speaker 1: characters already? You know what I'm saying, Like, I just
- 8:22Speaker 1: think we're pretty good here on wan Oh in terms
- 8:26Speaker 1: of the variety of people that we are dealing with
- 8:29Speaker 1: that we have encountered. And I think this dude being
- 8:34Speaker 1: thrown into the mix evidently like important enough to have
- 8:39Speaker 1: the episode named after him and to be showing up constantly.
- 8:42Speaker 1: And I assume he will be showing up even more constantly.
- 8:46Speaker 1: I feel like I just have reached a saturation point
- 8:51Speaker 1: and you show me somebody new and yet another fighting dude,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and I just can't care anymore. I'm at capacity and
- 9:01Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but there's no further room. And so this
- 9:05Speaker 1: guy is nothing and nobody and I don't care about him.
- 9:10Speaker 1: So you know, I very well may turn a corner
- 9:15Speaker 1: and suddenly feel about him the way I felt about
- 9:18Speaker 1: Senor Pink, which would be great, honestly, because we don't
- 9:22Speaker 1: really have a character that's like the kind of ridiculous
- 9:27Speaker 1: that Senor Pink was. The fact that we are now
- 9:31Speaker 1: back with the rest of our friends means that we've
- 9:33Speaker 1: got Frankie back, and so that's something. But that's also
- 9:36Speaker 1: somebody who's on our side. So I wouldn't be mad
- 9:39Speaker 1: if we had a you know, if we had the
- 9:41Speaker 1: introduction of another very goofy antagonist character. But uh yeah.
- 9:50Speaker 1: This So the focus in this first of the three
- 9:55Speaker 1: episodes is we are with Oosup and the town that
- 10:03Speaker 1: he is like traveling in at that time gets uh
- 10:07Speaker 1: raided by Chaitanmru and Jack comes and they are in
- 10:16Speaker 1: the midst of a fight with one another when Kaido interrupts,
- 10:21Speaker 1: and I I think that might also be part of it,
- 10:25Speaker 1: is that we're getting the introduction of this character, but
- 10:28Speaker 1: then we're not even allowing like the room for his
- 10:32Speaker 1: fight to at the very least reach a place where
- 10:36Speaker 1: I feel like we've gotten to see what he can
- 10:38Speaker 1: do before we are completely overshadowing him with somebody who
- 10:44Speaker 1: is so bonkers huge and powerful that what do we?
- 10:50Speaker 1: What do we? What are? Who are you? And why
- 10:53Speaker 1: do you matter? So uh, I'm trying to like because
- 11:01Speaker 1: the way that this all works is uh a little bit.
- 11:08Speaker 1: The fact is that she Temaru was supposed to be
- 11:11Speaker 1: like maybe one of our allies. That this guy's original
- 11:18Speaker 1: name was, I want to say, Dojo Doji? Is that right?
- 11:26Speaker 1: And he eventually becomes a criminal. So the fact that
- 11:32Speaker 1: Keniman knew him beforehand means that, Yeah, I think that
- 11:37Speaker 1: we can get him to warm up to us and
- 11:42Speaker 1: maybe get him in on the what's the word I
- 11:45Speaker 1: want into the rebel group that's going to try and
- 11:48Speaker 1: take down Kaido. But I've got to say, if I were, like,
- 11:57Speaker 1: if somebody had, what I keep thinking of is just
- 12:01Speaker 1: how I would feel at seeing this fucking dragon in
- 12:04Speaker 1: the sky and you come to me after this episode
- 12:08Speaker 1: and you're like, hey, we have formulated a group that
- 12:13Speaker 1: is going to take down Kaido no offense, but like,
- 12:20Speaker 1: I'm not sure I will even consider it at this
- 12:25Speaker 1: point after seeing what I just saw. It's too it's
- 12:31Speaker 1: too big. I I feel like it's been mentioned that
- 12:38Speaker 1: people are kind of not allowed to let leave Wano either.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Is that right, because like with everything, I think that's
- 12:46Speaker 1: probably what I would be trying to do is just
- 12:49Speaker 1: bail on Wano entirely. I don't need to be living
- 12:53Speaker 1: somewhere where a guy does this sort of thing. And
- 12:57Speaker 1: we get the information from very various people, including Hawkins,
- 13:03Speaker 1: that Kaido is like a problem drinker and when he drinks,
- 13:07Speaker 1: he does stupid, stupid shit like this, Like this is
- 13:13Speaker 1: the guy does not just take the whole top off
- 13:16Speaker 1: a fucking mountain, he also like fucks the town up
- 13:21Speaker 1: and just causes so much collateral damage. And part of
- 13:26Speaker 1: what like Hawkins was trying to do in directing his
- 13:30Speaker 1: attention at the mountain where they were holed up, it
- 13:34Speaker 1: seems like I don't remember if Hawkins actually knows that
- 13:40Speaker 1: they're there, or if he's just making up something. What
- 13:43Speaker 1: he says to I think Jack is essentially I was
- 13:47Speaker 1: hoping that attacking that mountain was going to take him
- 13:52Speaker 1: long enough that by the time he was done, he'd
- 13:54Speaker 1: have sobered up. But instead he was just able to
- 13:58Speaker 1: turn his head and fucking Zach bit and he's still
- 14:02Speaker 1: drunk and we still have to deal with this now.
- 14:04Speaker 1: You know, Wano is fully closed off ss florian okay cool,
- 14:11Speaker 1: Saraphim says, and the only way off the island requires
- 14:14Speaker 1: getting down that waterfall and then being able to navigate
- 14:17Speaker 1: through one of the most dangerous seas in the world,
- 14:19Speaker 1: something very few, if any, people in Wano would have
- 14:21Speaker 1: experience with. Yeah, that's fair. The only way to really
- 14:25Speaker 1: get out of here is if you are somebody who
- 14:27Speaker 1: can like fly or no that feels like, you know,
- 14:33Speaker 1: or you have to have a ship. But precious few
- 14:36Speaker 1: folks are going to have a ship. That would be
- 14:39Speaker 1: the kind of people that we want to actually escape Wana.
- 14:44Speaker 1: But yeah, so the fact that Kaido's a drinker, this
- 14:48Speaker 1: is sort of an interesting twist because like, oh right,
- 14:54Speaker 1: so mom had her food addiction and the weird like
- 15:00Speaker 1: you know, the almost like an eating disorder thing where
- 15:05Speaker 1: she would go into these fugue states, Kaido has a
- 15:09Speaker 1: drinking problem. Who is the guy with the the earthquakes?
- 15:15Speaker 1: Did he have something like this that was like sort
- 15:17Speaker 1: of I'm trying to see if there's like a pattern
- 15:21Speaker 1: with this Shanks, it appears is like pretty balanced. I
- 15:29Speaker 1: don't remember anything being mentioned about something that was like
- 15:32Speaker 1: a particular weak spot of his. I'm sure he's got something,
- 15:36Speaker 1: but I haven't seen it yet. And he has no
- 15:40Speaker 1: devil fruit power, but still has learned to use hockey,
- 15:45Speaker 1: So that is how he is such a badass. It's like,
- 15:48Speaker 1: no the devil fruit thing, but he is low key
- 15:51Speaker 1: like magic still white Beard and not really but at
- 15:57Speaker 1: the time we met him, white Beard was pretty much
- 15:59Speaker 1: on life support. Yeah, that's true. He was in bad shape.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Florian says, well, Shanks is kind of like lufy, so
- 16:10Speaker 1: maybe a weakness in being an airhead? Is he like
- 16:14Speaker 1: I mean he I haven't seen enough to even detect
- 16:16Speaker 1: that he is. He's a little bit of a weirdo
- 16:20Speaker 1: in his way, but it seems like he's more centered
- 16:24Speaker 1: than Loofy. I don't know, it's hard to say because
- 16:28Speaker 1: like this late in the run of the show, Lufy's
- 16:33Speaker 1: got more sense in some ways and the same exact
- 16:36Speaker 1: lack of sense in others, And it can be a
- 16:38Speaker 1: little unpredictable for me when one is going to manifest
- 16:43Speaker 1: versus the other. I'm trying to Oh my god, I
- 16:48Speaker 1: forgot about the part here because like this episode nine
- 16:53Speaker 1: to twelve starts with us Up running into a guy
- 16:55Speaker 1: on the street and acting like this guy should know
- 16:58Speaker 1: him and and I don't know about you guys, but
- 17:02Speaker 1: I see this trope all the time in media, and
- 17:07Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever had a person stop me
- 17:10Speaker 1: and say they know me and I don't know them
- 17:12Speaker 1: at all. I've certainly had moments where it's like, oh, man,
- 17:15Speaker 1: I forgot their name, but I don't think I have
- 17:20Speaker 1: ever just not known who they are, you know. But
- 17:24Speaker 1: obviously that's not even the case here because us Up
- 17:28Speaker 1: is full of shit and he's just trying to give
- 17:30Speaker 1: this guy one of the flyers and they I was
- 17:33Speaker 1: really interested to see, like what the reaction is going
- 17:36Speaker 1: to be, because he hands him one of these flyers
- 17:39Speaker 1: and dude opens it up and then sort of like
- 17:42Speaker 1: grimaces and looks around as if he's like trying to
- 17:47Speaker 1: make sure nobody else saw what's on the paper that
- 17:51Speaker 1: he like is trying to see maybe which direction oos
- 17:54Speaker 1: Up went. It's a there's not, in my opinion, much
- 18:02Speaker 1: in this guy's body language to indicate that he is
- 18:06Speaker 1: excited about this proposal or message that he wants to
- 18:12Speaker 1: take them up on it. It feels very like, oh shit,
- 18:16Speaker 1: who is this guy? Where do you go? I was
- 18:19Speaker 1: almost like, are you going to tell on us Up
- 18:24Speaker 1: or something? I was I I think maybe Oosup is
- 18:33Speaker 1: targeting people who are old enough that they might have
- 18:36Speaker 1: been here for the like original takedown of the old
- 18:41Speaker 1: shogun odin is Does that make sense, like, you know,
- 18:50Speaker 1: zeroing in on folks who remember the good days and
- 18:52Speaker 1: being like we can bring those back potentially. I was
- 18:57Speaker 1: a little bit surprised at how much us Up draws
- 19:01Speaker 1: attention to himself when he gives this guy the pamphlet
- 19:05Speaker 1: as well, because us Up, despite wearing a disguise, it's
- 19:11Speaker 1: like a pretty distinctive person. And I would have thought that,
- 19:16Speaker 1: like handing this out, you'd want to do it as
- 19:18Speaker 1: on the DL as you could so that the source
- 19:22Speaker 1: wouldn't be pinpointed by anybody. But it seems to me
- 19:26Speaker 1: that he's really making such a show of it that
- 19:30Speaker 1: people are guaranteed to recognize him, and I just don't
- 19:34Speaker 1: think he should be drawing this much attention to it
- 19:36Speaker 1: if we're wanting this to be like, because later Frankie
- 19:40Speaker 1: says something about like, how's your super secret distribution going,
- 19:44Speaker 1: And I'm like, I don't know if this counts a
- 19:46Speaker 1: super secret when he's so like, I don't know, flagrant
- 19:51Speaker 1: if that's the word I want? But uh, Saraphim says,
- 19:56Speaker 1: current other emperor is Blackbeard, and he is just full
- 20:00Speaker 1: on stereotypical pirate who pirates piratey, who pirate's piratey. He's
- 20:08Speaker 1: a busy pirate man who only pirates about pirate and yeah,
- 20:14Speaker 1: talk about like the opposite of Shank's no devil fruits,
- 20:17Speaker 1: because he's got how many devil fruit powers was he
- 20:20Speaker 1: up to When we last saw him, he was gonna
- 20:24Speaker 1: try and get Shanks's not shanks Ace's power, and we
- 20:30Speaker 1: know that did not happen. But he had three, is
- 20:33Speaker 1: that right? He had two Dark dark and the tremor fruit. Okay,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I forgot about the dark dark one, and that one
- 20:41Speaker 1: was really freaky. Hmm. Ace was one of his captains
- 20:47Speaker 1: who was going to claim it gotcha. Yeah, I uh,
- 20:54Speaker 1: honestly am surprised that Blackbeard has been off our radar
- 20:59Speaker 1: for so long. With the show. It's like there's been
- 21:02Speaker 1: references to him, and I think that we may have
- 21:04Speaker 1: even had like a passover of his face or something
- 21:09Speaker 1: at one point, but he has not really been in
- 21:11Speaker 1: the mix almost at all, which I would have expected
- 21:15Speaker 1: him to be by now, So you know, I'm not
- 21:20Speaker 1: mad about it. It just he was so set up
- 21:25Speaker 1: as like a guy that is going to be sort
- 21:30Speaker 1: of I don't know how to phrase this, but like
- 21:32Speaker 1: in our faces, but we can't. We just have to
- 21:35Speaker 1: take it, you know, for a little while, because we're
- 21:38Speaker 1: not strong enough to go up against him. And I
- 21:41Speaker 1: would have thought that we'd be hearing more about him
- 21:44Speaker 1: at the very least, and there would be kind of
- 21:46Speaker 1: a through line of Loofy getting updates and being really
- 21:50Speaker 1: pissed because he wants to stop him, but he knows
- 21:52Speaker 1: that he's still not strong enough, like that kind of thing.
- 21:56Speaker 1: But mostly it's been silent on him. Sarapham says, Yeah,
- 22:02Speaker 1: I think the last we heard of him was the
- 22:04Speaker 1: news after the time skit that he'd moved and taken
- 22:06Speaker 1: over most of Whitebeard's old territorium, was officially recognized as
- 22:09Speaker 1: an emperor. Yeah, I agree, So okay, So I'm sorry, guys.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I know I'm jumping all over the place, but there's
- 22:18Speaker 1: just a lot of like because this is one of
- 22:21Speaker 1: those groupings of episodes where there's really like the big
- 22:25Speaker 1: attack that's taking place spread out over all three and
- 22:29Speaker 1: then there's lots of other, like detailed plot things. It
- 22:34Speaker 1: doesn't a lot of it doesn't need to be talked
- 22:36Speaker 1: about like in a particular order, and thus I'm just
- 22:41Speaker 1: sort of leaping around a bit talking about the things
- 22:44Speaker 1: that I'm most excited about first, so let's see. Oh
- 22:51Speaker 1: and I do want to mention too that I can't
- 22:55Speaker 1: help but find it funny how everybody like I I
- 23:00Speaker 1: was willing, I was willing to give it to Zorro
- 23:04Speaker 1: that he has this like kind of bun hair style
- 23:08Speaker 1: of a show Ronan, but Loofy and Sonji now have
- 23:15Speaker 1: it as well. And the reason I was giving it
- 23:17Speaker 1: to Zorro is because he's been here a while, and
- 23:19Speaker 1: so I'm just like, yeah, he grew his hair out,
- 23:22Speaker 1: but Loofy and Sonjy are they just got here and
- 23:27Speaker 1: it's just happened to them, and you know, I accept
- 23:31Speaker 1: it obviously for the sake of the esthetic, but I
- 23:35Speaker 1: do mentally had canon this as wigs, that this is
- 23:40Speaker 1: not their real hair and that they just like for
- 23:44Speaker 1: Zoro it is, he has grown his real hair out.
- 23:47Speaker 1: He has been here long enough that he can pull
- 23:49Speaker 1: this off. But Sonjy and Loofy have had to find
- 23:54Speaker 1: wigs and nobody can convince me otherwise pretty much. So yeah,
- 24:02Speaker 1: oh my god, I keep forgetting about fucking what's the
- 24:06Speaker 1: name of this uh this ninja lady again. We are
- 24:13Speaker 1: just going so hard with the fact that like she
- 24:18Speaker 1: is insisting she's super hot and that she is just
- 24:21Speaker 1: a mature woman and that Sangy doesn't get it yet
- 24:25Speaker 1: but that he will, and I really hate it. I
- 24:33Speaker 1: just don't look anytime that the joke is. Isn't it
- 24:46Speaker 1: ridiculous that this woman has any confidence about her appearance
- 24:51Speaker 1: at all? It's mostly going to not hit for me
- 24:57Speaker 1: at this point in my life. Just don't like the
- 25:02Speaker 1: joke of Soanji wants to fuck almost everybody, but he
- 25:07Speaker 1: won't fuck her. Soanji is horrified by her kind of
- 25:12Speaker 1: coming on to him and wiggling her butt in the camera.
- 25:18Speaker 1: All of this is played. At this point, I just
- 25:25Speaker 1: don't want it anymore, and I'm really like I would
- 25:29Speaker 1: like somebody to sit oda down and just be like, hey, dude,
- 25:33Speaker 1: you know you don't have to do this, right, you
- 25:36Speaker 1: know you don't have to Like every time, have there
- 25:38Speaker 1: be a like a woman that's just treated as a
- 25:44Speaker 1: joke because she's not hot, right, do we don't have to?
- 25:49Speaker 1: We could simply not that'd be great. Like occasionally we
- 25:55Speaker 1: will have male characters who do this, but it's just
- 25:58Speaker 1: not treated the same way, you know. And I keep
- 26:04Speaker 1: thinking about the guy who like eventually gets made hot
- 26:07Speaker 1: because Sanji beat the shit out of him, and the
- 26:13Speaker 1: way that he behaves is like understandable because well, one
- 26:17Speaker 1: he actually did become hot, but two he used to
- 26:20Speaker 1: be unattractive, and so his like overfocus on his looks
- 26:26Speaker 1: does kind of make sense since he's not used to
- 26:29Speaker 1: being hot. He's just not adjusting super well. But yeah, her,
- 26:35Speaker 1: like she's saying, like, you will learn what a a
- 26:39Speaker 1: mature woman has to offer, and like wiggles or button
- 26:43Speaker 1: his face and we see him just like sweating and
- 26:46Speaker 1: protesting that. Yeah, he is too young, but maybe someday
- 26:50Speaker 1: he'll understand in the appeal and oh my god, I
- 26:56Speaker 1: just okay. So this is when he says, uh, you
- 27:03Speaker 1: told us Keeneman about this one particular samurai that we
- 27:08Speaker 1: need to locate and try and recruit Kalamatsu asur A Doji,
- 27:16Speaker 1: and I forget the third one because they all used
- 27:20Speaker 1: to serve Lord Odin. And when he brings this up
- 27:24Speaker 1: to Kenamon, he says, assure A Doji was defeated and
- 27:29Speaker 1: then mended his ways. He pledged loyalty to Lord Odin
- 27:32Speaker 1: when he saw his worth. But now, and Robin chimes in,
- 27:38Speaker 1: it seems he's doing wicked deeds once more. He is
- 27:43Speaker 1: the leader of the Atamaya Thieves Brigade, and Lufi says,
- 27:48Speaker 1: I swear I've heard that name. Is he really strong?
- 27:54Speaker 1: And Robin says, oh, definitely, I mean out of the
- 28:00Speaker 1: samurai especially, he might be at the top of the
- 28:03Speaker 1: pile if we want allies. He is somebody that would
- 28:07Speaker 1: be very very good for us to get. I'm really
- 28:13Speaker 1: wondering about his going back to like his old criminal ways.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Criminal ways can mean a lot of things. And is
- 28:22Speaker 1: it that he has thrown in with Kaido at this point,
- 28:25Speaker 1: or I don't think so, because of the way that
- 28:27Speaker 1: he clashes with Jack, so he's got to be on
- 28:30Speaker 1: his own side. And it would be kind of cool
- 28:35Speaker 1: if he were actually doing more of like the Robin
- 28:39Speaker 1: Hood thing that I am imagining. I don't know that, like,
- 28:45Speaker 1: you know, you can be somebody who is a criminal
- 28:47Speaker 1: but actually for the right reasons. And if he saw
- 28:52Speaker 1: Odinsworth and then these assholes came in and took this
- 28:56Speaker 1: place over, I could see being like, yeah, I'm gonna
- 29:02Speaker 1: go back to my criminal ways, but like not entire
- 29:05Speaker 1: not really. You know. We go to him like coming
- 29:13Speaker 1: into the town and they are looting all of this
- 29:17Speaker 1: stuff from and like I said, I don't like they're
- 29:24Speaker 1: stealing from the poor people here, So I don't think
- 29:27Speaker 1: that's really the thing. But I was just sort of
- 29:30Speaker 1: hoping that there was, like I don't know, some kind
- 29:36Speaker 1: of silver lining to all of this. And it is
- 29:43Speaker 1: quite cartoonish. I guess. I hate using that whenever I say,
- 29:49Speaker 1: you know, with one piece, it just feels like, well, yeah,
- 29:51Speaker 1: but the way that everything is being taken and that
- 29:57Speaker 1: there are literal like children starving, and some guy is like,
- 30:00Speaker 1: I don't give a shit, and he literally like kicks
- 30:04Speaker 1: some kids over and uh. Another guy talks about how
- 30:10Speaker 1: there's sake in the mix here and that they're being
- 30:13Speaker 1: greedy keeping it all to themselves. Yeah, this is uh,
- 30:19Speaker 1: this sucks. There's eventually this old lady who is like
- 30:24Speaker 1: two feet tall and she is just kneeling and praying
- 30:28Speaker 1: in the middle of everything, and one of the bandits
- 30:32Speaker 1: pulls out a what do you call it? A Uh,
- 30:40Speaker 1: it's a sword, but like, what do you call this
- 30:41Speaker 1: type of stode? You don't'm talking about anyway, and then
- 30:47Speaker 1: we hear who would pull off a stunt like this,
- 30:50Speaker 1: acting like some hero and giving food to the poor. Basically,
- 30:57Speaker 1: he says in a way what I was saying last episode,
- 31:01Speaker 1: which I did kind of stop and be like, ooh,
- 31:05Speaker 1: I don't like that. Like a bad guy is asking
- 31:08Speaker 1: the same question. But what he's saying is he all
- 31:13Speaker 1: he is doing is making you think that there is
- 31:16Speaker 1: some hope for you, when like just giving you some
- 31:22Speaker 1: food for that'll last you a couple days and then
- 31:25Speaker 1: be gone isn't helping really like in a material way.
- 31:33Speaker 1: It's just getting new guys fed for a day or
- 31:36Speaker 1: two and thinking there is some hope and then what
- 31:41Speaker 1: you'll eat through it, it'll be gone and you will
- 31:44Speaker 1: have no hope again. And actually, in the end, it's
- 31:48Speaker 1: kind of just cruel. And I do think that this
- 31:52Speaker 1: guy is saying this all obviously in very bad faith.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I'm not at all like so what he is trying
- 32:01Speaker 1: to do is justify stealing all of this back from everybody.
- 32:05Speaker 1: So it is hardly a you know, a sentiment like
- 32:10Speaker 1: I was having of just sort of we need to
- 32:12Speaker 1: do more than this. It's him rationalizing why doing nothing
- 32:19Speaker 1: is fine. But anyway, yeah, slipping through your fingers, like
- 32:24Speaker 1: it's just a dream. There's no samurai here who will
- 32:28Speaker 1: stand up for the down trodden. They all lost their spines.
- 32:32Speaker 1: There's no one left to lead them either, no men
- 32:35Speaker 1: with honor or conviction or an ounce of guts. There's
- 32:42Speaker 1: nobody to keep the ship on course. The land of
- 32:47Speaker 1: Wano is finished and you all know it. And I
- 32:54Speaker 1: think that this is kind of meant to be the
- 32:57Speaker 1: inn on how we can get him to be an
- 33:01Speaker 1: ally is like you thought that there was nobody, and
- 33:05Speaker 1: there actually is, and we can organize. We've got leaders,
- 33:11Speaker 1: we have honor, and he's just got a very what's
- 33:18Speaker 1: the word I want. It's a very nihilistic perspective where
- 33:25Speaker 1: he believes that if there's nobody here to fix things,
- 33:29Speaker 1: then I may as well just go ahead and do
- 33:33Speaker 1: the worst possible thing, because who's gonna stop me? And
- 33:40Speaker 1: it's weak. Honestly, this is the sort of thing that like,
- 33:44Speaker 1: I'm sure he'll be a good ally once we are
- 33:47Speaker 1: able to rein him in, But at this point I
- 33:50Speaker 1: can't help but see this as just like I don't
- 33:55Speaker 1: I wanting this guy as a an ally is purely
- 34:02Speaker 1: a practical matter of him being a good fighter. I
- 34:07Speaker 1: would need to see a pretty significant change in attitude
- 34:12Speaker 1: because I would be very worried this guy was going
- 34:15Speaker 1: to turn on us at any given moment, you know.
- 34:22Speaker 1: So he has like this face off with the old
- 34:25Speaker 1: lady who is saying that she believes in the prophecy
- 34:29Speaker 1: about the others coming back eventually, and he is unimpressed
- 34:36Speaker 1: by this. He has her at like sword point, and
- 34:40Speaker 1: then they get interrupted. And it was really surprising to
- 34:45Speaker 1: me that he gets interrupted by Jack, because like, obviously
- 34:52Speaker 1: these are the bandits are going to be the enemy
- 34:56Speaker 1: of the What do we calling Kaido's people? What are
- 35:05Speaker 1: they called. Are they just called like the Kaido pirates
- 35:08Speaker 1: or is like this is Howkins best pirates think you,
- 35:14Speaker 1: sir from I forgot about that, But like Hawkins doesn't
- 35:17Speaker 1: fall under that, right. I know that he's like technically subordinate,
- 35:22Speaker 1: But is he a beast pirate or is he like
- 35:26Speaker 1: more of a colleague? And if so, what are his
- 35:31Speaker 1: pirates called, because that's sort of like they're not part
- 35:37Speaker 1: of the government. That's a whole separate thing, which is
- 35:40Speaker 1: obviously also very corrupt here. But I'm just trying to
- 35:44Speaker 1: find a like good umbrella way of talking about all
- 35:50Speaker 1: of the pirates who are involved with a pressing Wanno
- 35:55Speaker 1: as a whole. And I guess I could just say
- 35:57Speaker 1: like all of Kaido's people, but it just feels not
- 36:01Speaker 1: quite correct. Saraphim says. He is, he's signed on with Kaido.
- 36:07Speaker 1: He's currently one of the headliners the Beast Pirates middle management. Okay,
- 36:13Speaker 1: It's it's sort of weird, isn't it that it's like
- 36:16Speaker 1: the Beast Pirates and then the headliners. I don't feel
- 36:19Speaker 1: like that's a there's no correlating theme there. And I'm
- 36:25Speaker 1: gonna think on this and try and come up with
- 36:27Speaker 1: like a better name for the middle management of something
- 36:30Speaker 1: of a group called the Beast Pirates because headliners is
- 36:32Speaker 1: just an odd one, but I accept it. So Hawkins Jack,
- 36:39Speaker 1: who else is a headliner? Have we met them all?
- 36:46Speaker 1: What's his face? Was? Oh my god? Hold him right?
- 36:50Speaker 1: And I feel like there's one that we met like
- 36:54Speaker 1: that that we saw but haven't met met if I'm
- 36:57Speaker 1: not mistaken, Oh Speed, I didn't know she was too okay,
- 37:05Speaker 1: and Sheep's head. Sheep's head, I think is the one
- 37:07Speaker 1: that I'm thinking of who we did meet, but it's
- 37:10Speaker 1: like been a minute, okay, okay, So anyway, uh, as
- 37:19Speaker 1: I said, this entire confrontation begins to go down, but
- 37:24Speaker 1: we cut away to some of the pirates who are
- 37:27Speaker 1: bringing Kaido booze, and everybody is aware that there isn't
- 37:34Speaker 1: a lot to be done. When he gets in one
- 37:37Speaker 1: of these like binges, it's you can't refuse him because
- 37:40Speaker 1: the guy is too strong and he, I guess, will
- 37:47Speaker 1: sense if stuff is watered down as well, Like I
- 37:50Speaker 1: just have to assume that he can tell. But yeah,
- 37:53Speaker 1: he is like putting it away. And what sucks in
- 37:57Speaker 1: this sort of situation is that you try and not
- 38:00Speaker 1: to give him booze, and he gets angry. You do
- 38:03Speaker 1: give him booze, and he still winds up angry. There's
- 38:07Speaker 1: just no winning here at all, and he beats the
- 38:12Speaker 1: shit out of the guys who's who are bringing him
- 38:15Speaker 1: the booze, and then he's like tells one of the
- 38:22Speaker 1: guys bring it to me, and the guy says, what
- 38:26Speaker 1: are you talking about? And he says, get with it,
- 38:29Speaker 1: you idiot, and we just hear him scream as the
- 38:32Speaker 1: camera pulls back from his like skull shaped cave that
- 38:36Speaker 1: he stays and which I have to admit is pretty
- 38:39Speaker 1: cool looking, even though it's a little bit on the nose.
- 38:42Speaker 1: That's okay. So we go back to uh Chatamburu and Jack,
- 38:52Speaker 1: and Jack is really trying to square off with him
- 38:54Speaker 1: and thinks that it's going to be an easy situation,
- 38:57Speaker 1: but he gets sliced down the front pretty quick, pretty bad,
- 39:03Speaker 1: and Shtamuru is I will say the one thing that
- 39:06Speaker 1: I found kind of enjoyable about him, his expression like
- 39:12Speaker 1: literally never changes. He just looks vaguely sad and disgusted
- 39:19Speaker 1: in like a general sort of way. It's not too extreme,
- 39:23Speaker 1: but it's like there's almost a sense of like exhaustion
- 39:27Speaker 1: about him. And even later when Kaido transforms into this
- 39:31Speaker 1: giant fucking dragon and takes the whole top off of
- 39:36Speaker 1: a mountain, we have the camera like going to every
- 39:39Speaker 1: character for their reaction, and he is the only one
- 39:42Speaker 1: that doesn't seem to give a fuck. Everybody else is
- 39:45Speaker 1: like horrified and amazed and what do we do? Oh
- 39:50Speaker 1: my god? And then you go to him and he's
- 39:52Speaker 1: just like ugh, this and that I find very funny. Ooh.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Sarah phipp says Jack isn't a headliner. He's above them
- 40:04Speaker 1: as one of Kaido's right hands. Oh man, I thought
- 40:10Speaker 1: I had it. It's very hard to keep track of
- 40:12Speaker 1: all these little positions and whatnot. But yeah, we get
- 40:20Speaker 1: to see, like at least the fact that Jack can
- 40:23Speaker 1: attack Chtemaru and Chtemrou kind of seems to be able
- 40:28Speaker 1: to block quite a lot of it just using his sword. Somehow,
- 40:32Speaker 1: eventually Jack is able to slash him, and I almost
- 40:37Speaker 1: wonder if it's just like Shittimburau isn't putting up enough
- 40:40Speaker 1: of a fight because he's depressed. There's just something about
- 40:44Speaker 1: his entire vibe that feels like he's given up a
- 40:47Speaker 1: little bit and not that he you know, he just
- 40:53Speaker 1: takes it and we go into his head for a
- 40:58Speaker 1: second and he is thinking about how like I don't
- 41:01Speaker 1: even have a reason to fight anymore, you know, but
- 41:07Speaker 1: comes back to himself and is like, well, but I
- 41:10Speaker 1: can't get let this fucking guy be the one who
- 41:13Speaker 1: kills me, and finally tunes in and the way that
- 41:18Speaker 1: he swoops up to Jack and just slices him again.
- 41:22Speaker 1: I do like how pissed Jack is about it, because
- 41:24Speaker 1: like he he would be Jack. I just really hate
- 41:29Speaker 1: this motherfucker. So you know what, Shatamaru. I know, I
- 41:33Speaker 1: talked some shit about you and how we have enough
- 41:35Speaker 1: characters in YadA YadA, But if you're the one who
- 41:37Speaker 1: takes Jack out so I don't have to deal with
- 41:38Speaker 1: him anymore, I find him very boring in this weird way.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Sarah Fem says headliner is a translation thing. The Japanese
- 41:48Speaker 1: term is shinouchi, which refers to something that is extremely
- 41:53Speaker 1: high quality and has no real good direct translation, usually
- 41:58Speaker 1: high quality in regard to weapons, but headliner tends to
- 42:02Speaker 1: be the only common one that makes sense to apply
- 42:05Speaker 1: to people. Interesting. I'm thinking about like top shelf, you know,
- 42:11Speaker 1: like a booze. But yeah, yeah, so Shita Muru is
- 42:20Speaker 1: just really struggling here. And then we have Kaido coming
- 42:25Speaker 1: out and he decides that he is going to terrorize
- 42:30Speaker 1: everybody so that he can track down all of the
- 42:36Speaker 1: people who are giving him a fucking headache on his
- 42:39Speaker 1: island right now, and we get the first look at
- 42:42Speaker 1: how he turns into a dragon and this shit. I
- 42:46Speaker 1: was not ready because Kaido already is so strong, and
- 42:50Speaker 1: I thought that whatever his like devil fruit power was
- 42:53Speaker 1: going to be would simply be like related to him
- 42:58Speaker 1: being in vulnerable in a way that's more like it
- 43:03Speaker 1: gave me iron skin, or you know, did something that
- 43:10Speaker 1: was materially a like a change, I guess, like a
- 43:16Speaker 1: logo like Loofy with being rubber. You know, I really
- 43:21Speaker 1: wonder if Lufy fell from a sky island, if he
- 43:26Speaker 1: would die being rubber. I think probably not right, I
- 43:30Speaker 1: don't know, but yeah, so it's finding out that he
- 43:34Speaker 1: can actually transform into something. I just didn't think that
- 43:39Speaker 1: was going to be on the table. I kind of
- 43:41Speaker 1: felt like he was impressive enough, and this like moment
- 43:48Speaker 1: where everybody up on the mountain can see him. He
- 43:53Speaker 1: is so huge even from this far away. It's a
- 43:58Speaker 1: really great choice, I think on their part to let
- 44:02Speaker 1: us see him from that vantage point, because it really
- 44:05Speaker 1: hammers home. You aren't ready for how big this dude
- 44:09Speaker 1: is and the way that he is going to just
- 44:11Speaker 1: completely wreck your shit. So he's like swooping down over
- 44:21Speaker 1: the what do you call it the I can't remember, Basura,
- 44:27Speaker 1: but is that the name of the town? I'm saying it,
- 44:31Speaker 1: but then I'm stopping and I'm being like, basura is
- 44:35Speaker 1: the Spanish word for garbage. But you know that doesn't
- 44:41Speaker 1: necessarily factor, or maybe it does. I don't know how
- 44:44Speaker 1: much of this is but coolah, thank you, sarahm. But yeah,
- 44:51Speaker 1: he is swooping down over the town, and he is
- 44:54Speaker 1: like yelling at everybody to like go and get those
- 44:57Speaker 1: punks so I can deal with them. And he's just
- 45:00Speaker 1: I think like the fact that he has transformed while
- 45:03Speaker 1: he is drunk. In some ways, it's great that he's drunk,
- 45:08Speaker 1: because I think if he were really like alert and focused,
- 45:13Speaker 1: we would be in some serious trouble. On the other hand,
- 45:17Speaker 1: all of this collateral damage that results from him just
- 45:21Speaker 1: being incautious and unaware is agonizing, and it's something that
- 45:28Speaker 1: like I have One of the other series that Will White,
- 45:33Speaker 1: who wrote Cradle did was Elder Empire, And there was
- 45:39Speaker 1: a lot in Elder Empire of like put beings who
- 45:44Speaker 1: were so powerful that when they attacked each other, the
- 45:48Speaker 1: shock wave of that attack simply killed people around them.
- 45:51Speaker 1: And it wasn't even like they were hit by anything,
- 45:56Speaker 1: or you know what I mean. It was simply like
- 45:58Speaker 1: the intensity of their attack emitted an aura that some
- 46:04Speaker 1: people who were too low level could not handle, and
- 46:06Speaker 1: they would drop dead. And I remember just being very
- 46:11Speaker 1: fixated on how awful it would be to not be
- 46:15Speaker 1: part of this fight, but just be a little regular
- 46:18Speaker 1: person and be so unimportant to the big wigs that
- 46:23Speaker 1: are about to fight that they don't care you just died.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Who gives a shit. I have a fight that I'm
- 46:30Speaker 1: busy with right now. I can't be thinking about innocent bystanders,
- 46:34Speaker 1: you know. So anyway, he really like does a fucking
- 46:40Speaker 1: number on this town, and the way that he is
- 46:50Speaker 1: I don't know the intensity of him even drunk. I'm
- 46:57Speaker 1: really wondering about if this is going to be the
- 47:02Speaker 1: sort of thing that because like I've already mentioned how
- 47:08Speaker 1: Lufy has encountered folks who are too high level for him,
- 47:12Speaker 1: and he has recognized that they are. But he's going
- 47:16Speaker 1: after Kaido here out of an emotional reaction because he
- 47:21Speaker 1: thinks Tama is dead and I don't think she is.
- 47:26Speaker 1: I think it's like, of course she's not. But I'm
- 47:31Speaker 1: wondering if maybe it'll be that Lufy gets the better
- 47:34Speaker 1: of him purely because he's drunk and been drinking, that
- 47:39Speaker 1: that's going to be like something that weakens him enough
- 47:43Speaker 1: that we could make it reasonable that Lufy might win
- 47:47Speaker 1: this fight, you know what I'm saying. I'm trying to
- 47:49Speaker 1: think of something that would sort of hamper him. With
- 47:53Speaker 1: Big Mom, we never really won a fight. We just
- 47:56Speaker 1: were able to like really ruin her shit and her
- 47:59Speaker 1: play and then escape, which is kind of winning. With Kaido,
- 48:06Speaker 1: I feel like you've got to just save Wano. With Mom,
- 48:12Speaker 1: that was her territory in a very different way, where
- 48:15Speaker 1: she apparently like had built it up and people were
- 48:19Speaker 1: living there voluntarily offering up pieces of their souls as
- 48:23Speaker 1: payment to live there, and Kaido came in and just
- 48:28Speaker 1: like colonized a place and took over. Although it may
- 48:32Speaker 1: be that if you go back, the Big Mom colonized
- 48:35Speaker 1: this place as well, I can't remember, because I know
- 48:37Speaker 1: she was up to some shit, but Kaido's like got
- 48:43Speaker 1: a much more divided country than Mom had. Mom it
- 48:48Speaker 1: seemed like most folks there were pretty happy, except for
- 48:52Speaker 1: like her children, who were treated very shittily. And I
- 48:59Speaker 1: think that me that here, the only way that we
- 49:03Speaker 1: can win is to free Wano from him, and I
- 49:07Speaker 1: don't know how that could possibly happen other than him
- 49:12Speaker 1: being him strung somehow, you know, give him some kind
- 49:16Speaker 1: of handicap that makes it easier for Loufy to beat him,
- 49:20Speaker 1: or we like have Loofy power up somehow. What I
- 49:27Speaker 1: would like to see is everybody who is part of
- 49:32Speaker 1: our crew. And I don't just mean like justice straw hats.
- 49:36Speaker 1: I mean also you know, like Kinemon and the other
- 49:41Speaker 1: samurai that he wants to recrue. And I want everybody
- 49:46Speaker 1: to somehow come up with a plan where they each
- 49:48Speaker 1: have their role to play in taking Kaido down in
- 49:52Speaker 1: a very specific way. But it does seem like we
- 49:56Speaker 1: are mostly getting the emperor or warlord or whatever that
- 50:03Speaker 1: Lufy has to fight. It's almost always coming down to
- 50:07Speaker 1: like just between him and that one person, and it
- 50:12Speaker 1: has to be just those two fighting, and our friends
- 50:16Speaker 1: are rarely really involved directly at that point. If they
- 50:21Speaker 1: are able to take any shots, it'll be like way
- 50:23Speaker 1: earlier on outside of the big main battle that Loofy
- 50:27Speaker 1: winds up having. So I think that's kind of where
- 50:33Speaker 1: I'm at right now, is like I would rather than
- 50:37Speaker 1: doing something to like bring his abilities down, I would
- 50:41Speaker 1: rather see teamwork that makes it so that everybody together
- 50:46Speaker 1: is able to accomplish something that is like choreographed and
- 50:51Speaker 1: planned that they could never accomplish on their own, because
- 50:57Speaker 1: everything coming down to Loofy all the time gets a
- 51:02Speaker 1: little bit old and predictable and boring honestly, depending on
- 51:08Speaker 1: how the fight goes, Like you know, Seraphim says, given
- 51:13Speaker 1: how varied the places are, she likely did take over
- 51:16Speaker 1: territory from others at first, but by this point it's
- 51:18Speaker 1: pretty much all people who came to her land for
- 51:20Speaker 1: the safety it offers or been there so long it's
- 51:22Speaker 1: is just normal. Yeah, agreed. So anyway, like what's going
- 51:30Speaker 1: on with Kaido here? We have the the you know,
- 51:34Speaker 1: direction that Hawkins gives him of oh, they're hiding out
- 51:40Speaker 1: in the old castle, and he is like, oh, that's
- 51:46Speaker 1: a really good hiding place actually, and he just turns
- 51:50Speaker 1: and blasts it with a stream of fire that is
- 51:55Speaker 1: frankly insane. It's bonkers. It's like maybe one of the
- 52:03Speaker 1: most high powered powers we've seen ever. I'm trying to
- 52:08Speaker 1: think of what's the name of the guy who can
- 52:10Speaker 1: like pull down fucking like uh not comments what do
- 52:17Speaker 1: they call guys asteroids? That's not it either, or maybe
- 52:21Speaker 1: it is, but you know what I'm saying, Like the
- 52:25Speaker 1: Fuji Tora Seraphim says, thank you meteor. Ah, that's the word. Sorry, guys,
- 52:33Speaker 1: I could argue, I guess that a meteor is more
- 52:38Speaker 1: high powered than this. Ah, yeah, I might. I guess
- 52:45Speaker 1: it's this is so much more like I think, what
- 52:51Speaker 1: what gets me is a meteor. It's like you're you
- 52:55Speaker 1: have an ability to like create or like pull down
- 52:59Speaker 1: something from above where it feels like this is creating
- 53:02Speaker 1: the fire hole. But I don't remember if he created
- 53:07Speaker 1: the meteors or if he was like literally pulling them
- 53:10Speaker 1: from space. I think maybe he created them, but regardless,
- 53:18Speaker 1: when he opens his mouth and gets ready to fire,
- 53:24Speaker 1: it is a like a white dot in the center
- 53:29Speaker 1: of his mouth to really emphasize how hot this is,
- 53:35Speaker 1: and everybody is like standing on the mountain watching him,
- 53:39Speaker 1: thinking that there's no way he's coming toward us. He
- 53:42Speaker 1: doesn't even know we're here, YadA, YadA. And then finally
- 53:46Speaker 1: it's Beppo who's like, guys, I I think he might
- 53:50Speaker 1: actually be heading straight toward our direction. And Brooke is going,
- 53:57Speaker 1: how did he notice us from so far away? And
- 54:00Speaker 1: everybody begins to panic and he's coming at them, and
- 54:03Speaker 1: it's sort of like they're watching him with like disbelief.
- 54:07Speaker 1: I wanted to just be like, why are you not running?
- 54:09Speaker 1: But honestly, this guy is too big to run from
- 54:14Speaker 1: When you are on your just two feet and he
- 54:17Speaker 1: is about to attack you, how are you running away
- 54:23Speaker 1: and outpacing the fire that he breathes, It's simply not
- 54:26Speaker 1: going to happen. So yeah, he breathes, and it's that
- 54:34Speaker 1: tiny sun in his mouth that comes forward like a
- 54:40Speaker 1: laser beam, the size of a house and just takes
- 54:44Speaker 1: the fucking top of the mountain right off everybody. It's
- 54:48Speaker 1: like animated in that way where it turns white and
- 54:53Speaker 1: it's just line drawings of the characters, and then the
- 54:56Speaker 1: lines disperse as if they are being turned into dust
- 55:05Speaker 1: in the way that reminds me of like Terminator two
- 55:10Speaker 1: when she has the vision of a nuke being dropped
- 55:13Speaker 1: and what happens to all of the children in the
- 55:16Speaker 1: playground when it happens. And then as like, after we
- 55:23Speaker 1: see that moment, the camera turns and like we're behind
- 55:28Speaker 1: the mountain and so we see the hole that gets
- 55:33Speaker 1: produced going straight through it before the entire mountaintop is
- 55:39Speaker 1: blasted apart and disappears. And I really like the way
- 55:46Speaker 1: this is animated. It really looks like our crew is dead,
- 55:52Speaker 1: all of our friends are dead. Of course they're not,
- 55:56Speaker 1: but I also am aware we have had the principle
- 56:02Speaker 1: of a like time traveling fruit put in the world.
- 56:08Speaker 1: So I'm like, what if they are dead, but we've
- 56:11Speaker 1: got to do something that undoes this somehow, Or they're
- 56:18Speaker 1: injured but they survive. If they are injured and they survive,
- 56:24Speaker 1: that's much more in line with one piece, but it
- 56:27Speaker 1: is also a little bit less impressive. Well spoilers, we
- 56:34Speaker 1: do eventually see our friends that have survived the third
- 56:42Speaker 1: episode finally clashing Loofy and Kaido. I'm like, running out
- 56:47Speaker 1: of time, but I talked about things out of order,
- 56:49Speaker 1: so it's also a little bit hard to, you know,
- 56:52Speaker 1: but Lufy is punching the shit out of dragging Kaido
- 56:57Speaker 1: and he m, guys, the the electricity surrounding him is
- 57:03Speaker 1: so wild looking. Again, I was just sort of like
- 57:07Speaker 1: the fire wasn't enough. Now you also have to be
- 57:10Speaker 1: able to do this, Like it's too much? Why are
- 57:15Speaker 1: you and loofy his attack on Kaido, he like turns
- 57:23Speaker 1: red and is expelling heat from his rage in a
- 57:30Speaker 1: way that's, you know, very reminiscent of a few different tears.
- 57:35Speaker 1: I really thought that we were going to get another
- 57:40Speaker 1: tier of attack from him. I think it's we've got
- 57:47Speaker 1: is gear five bounce Man. I just sort of expected
- 57:55Speaker 1: that maybe this was spontaneously going to create something even
- 58:00Speaker 1: higher power because he's so angry and it just unlocks,
- 58:04Speaker 1: you know, which is a bit of a trope. But sorry,
- 58:11Speaker 1: uh Seraphim says he was pulling them down. His power
- 58:16Speaker 1: is just gravity manipul Oh about Fuji Tora? Gotcha? Gotcha? Gotcha?
- 58:21Speaker 1: Uh ay wana, they started going hard on the auras
- 58:24Speaker 1: that are mostly there to look cool. Bounce Man is
- 58:28Speaker 1: gear four. Okay, so the aura thing isn't an indicator
- 58:34Speaker 1: that he is like powered up in a way it's new.
- 58:38Speaker 1: It's just an animation choice that's like cool. It's meant
- 58:45Speaker 1: to represent his hockey, okay, but not more hockey than
- 58:52Speaker 1: he had, right, Like, it's just meant to be that's
- 58:57Speaker 1: engaged and active. But it's not like because again, this
- 59:01Speaker 1: is not something we have seen before coming off of
- 59:05Speaker 1: him like this. So okay, Seraphim says, yeah, just to
- 59:09Speaker 1: look cool and symbolize his hockey being active. Okay. I
- 59:13Speaker 1: think I need to keep this in mind that like,
- 59:16Speaker 1: the choice to change visuals when something's been running this
- 59:19Speaker 1: long makes sense. You know that you're gonna want to
- 59:23Speaker 1: like mix it up and make it look a little cooler.
- 59:25Speaker 1: But when you're covering it like I am, and things
- 59:28Speaker 1: are close together, it's very easy to think that, Okay,
- 59:32Speaker 1: well they're changing this, so something must be happening that's significant,
- 59:35Speaker 1: and it's really just like no, we're just it's almost
- 59:39Speaker 1: like a costume change or something, you know. Okay, So yeah,
- 59:46Speaker 1: like I said, when he decides to launch himself at Kaido,
- 59:52Speaker 1: it is really like worrisome for me because I'm just
- 59:56Speaker 1: of course he's not going to win, like what, But
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: I will say I was surprised at how sad I
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: was when I saw Speed get like tossed, she gets,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: she lands hard and she's bleeding. And I wasn't even
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: thinking about Tama at that point, I will be honest
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: with you all. I was just thinking, like, poor Speed,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: And I think it's just because she's like so animal
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: like that it just activates my animal protective functions that
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: are innate in all white people apparently. But yeah, I
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: really like once she's like, oh yeah, I failed to
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: protect my master, and I was like, oh no, now again,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: I don't think Tama is actually dead. I'm sure she's fine.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: I'm positive because Oda just would not, He just wouldn't.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: But I am wondering what the fuck happened to her?
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Where is she? You know? And we get a ton
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: of as Lufy is fighting the flashbacks of her being
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: happy and eating and celebrating and just the moments of
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: her being a child, and how enraged he is that
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: he would go after her in this way, which, you know,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: considering the way that he decided to drop her and
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: turn and handle hold him does track character wise. And
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: I can't help but wonder about Speed, like saying I
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: fail to protect my master. Is Speed going? Is she
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: like enthralled enough by Tama that she would turn her
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: back on Kaido because it sort of seems like that's
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: where she's at, but I'm not totally sure, so I'm
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: just trying to like jump around a little bit here.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Oh my god, I forgot about the part where like
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: cause Kinemon is with Okiku and he is like worried
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: about her, and she's like what about Suru, Like you
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: need to make sure that he's all right, and they
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: have to split up and find him, and then they
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: are going to go down to the town because obviously
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: the people in the town are not going to be
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: doing great. You can see the dragon like he was
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: hovering pretty far above everything, but now is sort of
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: dipped down like he's in a puddle, so that he's
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: like much more in the town in a way that
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: can cause a lot more damage, you know. So yeah, sorry, guys,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: I'm just trying to find the bit where Ugh god,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: I love fucking for Folgar Law insisting from the sidelines
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: on continuing to yell at Loufy for fucking everything up
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: to just sir, you know this. You don't get to
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: belly ache about it anymore. You've chosen to stay allied
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: with this guy. You get what you get. There's no
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: good complaining about it. Why are you like trying to
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: act like he's going to become a different person. Time
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: has passed for that, So I'm trying to make it
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: jump to the end because Loufy does the like Gear
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: two I think, where he like blows his hands up
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: and makes them look like giant like boxing gloves, and
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: he does this to defend himself from Caido's attack. And
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: I'll tell you, I was genuinely surprised that this worked
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: at all. Like, I just didn't think Gear two was
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: gonna be enough. This guy is a massive dragon, and
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Lufy is able to gattling him in the face. Just
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: accomplishes a lot more in the mix here than I
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: was thinking. And I will put that down to Kaido
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: being drunk. Like mostly I would love to say it's
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: because of Lufy's sticktuitiveness, but I don't really think I
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: think it's Kido being drunk. Well see how it goes,
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: because the episode wraps with him still in the midst
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: of punching him, So for all I know, we open
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: the next episode and Lufy gets his fucking ass handed
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: to him. You know, Sarafem says it's Tama's devil fruit power.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Any No, I know that, I know, No, no, no, Sarahem,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I'm not asking like what I'm asking if that devil
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: fruit power is enough for her to betray Kaido, to
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: make Speed betray Kaido, because is she's supposed to work
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: for him, and I feel like she's going to be
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: on the receiving end of some extra harsh punishment if
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: she's like seen as a traitor, which it appears she
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: is not able to control herself enough to even fake it.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: If she we're gonna try and hide the fact unless
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: Otama ordered her to. I guess, ah, but let's see.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: Look at this point, he needs to vent that stress
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: before he gets an aneurysm. Yeah, that's true. You know,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: I said that we see that our people are still okay,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: but we really don't. We see kinaman okiku and that's it,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: and so we don't know. But I guess we'll have
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: to see. I know that they will be fine, but
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: I'm not sure if they're fine right now? All right,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: I have to wrap up. Thank you guys again for
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: hanging out with me. I appreciate you all very very much,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: hope that you are enjoying the coverage Until next time
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: to the Loo. Motherfuckers that was an unspoiled network. Pat
