Transcript
- 0:00Devon: It brings the other community and that's one thing that you know, I think a lot of us forget keeps us young.
- 0:04Devon: It's one of the main pillars of the blue zones, and longevity is community.
- 0:13Prue Aja: Welcome to the scene and herd podcast, helping you enhance your connection, evolve your mindset and emerge confidently as your true self, living a life feeling aligned, activated and energized.
- 0:24Prue Aja: I'm your host, pruhaja international photographer, motivational speaker and alignment strategist.
- 0:30Prue Aja: Every day just gets better.
- 0:38Devon: I wouldn't mind if we extended another day.
- 0:40Prue Aja: Yeah, I don't mind, because I feel like now there's nothing on the schedule.
- 0:43Prue Aja: Yeah, actually, just time we can catch up on sleep and we can chill out.
- 0:47Prue Aja: Yeah, it would be great, and I'm so happy the sun's out because I want to go and do some portraits after this.
- 0:54Prue Aja: I heard a rumor, though, about you on the boat, that you came here and you climbed a mountain and put a star link in.
- 1:03Devon: Yes.
- 1:04Prue Aja: Is that true?
- 1:05Devon: Yeah, yeah, what in January?
- 1:06Devon: This year 12, 11 months ago.
- 1:09Prue Aja: Oh my God, 12 months ago.
- 1:10Prue Aja: How did you know where to put it?
- 1:14Devon: So we're on right now, right, we're good, yeah, yeah, we're on.
- 1:15Devon: Okay, cool we, there's another whale.
- 1:19Prue Aja: Anyways, I'll stop.
- 1:19Prue Aja: We're just sitting here looking at the most spectacular view in the world and a whale just doing a little show.
- 1:25Devon: The whale is literally giving us a show.
- 1:26Devon: So in December I was approached by some people at SpaceX to help With an expedition and it's to bring awareness to Star Lincoln how it can be used in the most remote areas in the world, and they knew I was climbing Mount Vincent at the time.
- 1:43Devon: I'm in the middle of climbing the highest point of each continent, so I finished.
- 1:47Devon: Africa, south America and Artica was number three, and I actually leave for Mount Everest in four months, on April 14th.
- 1:54Devon: Some of that, and so Antarctica.
- 1:58Prue Aja: I've never been.
- 1:58Prue Aja: It's not rubbing on your yeah, yeah.
- 2:00Devon: And Antarctica Was, you know, next stop, and that was this past January and when they approached me, there has never been like Wi-Fi on this continent.
- 2:13Devon: There's never been like you were never able to FaceTime or live stream from the continent.
- 2:19Devon: Even Mr Beast, who's the biggest, he has the biggest YouTube following in the world he was there two weeks prior and he didn't have service Like he didn't even have access to it, and so we brought the Starlink down and and we set it up.
- 2:35Devon: I didn't physically set it up.
- 2:37Devon: My buddy, Tyler Carnavali, who worked at SpaceX at the time he's the one that actually did the backend system with this other guy, Dutch, to connect, because you know, the Starlink satellite in the in the air, like in the.
- 2:50Prue Aja: I was going to say what does it physically look like?
- 2:52Devon: It's a regular Starlink, it's.
- 2:53Devon: You know, it looks like a.
- 2:54Prue Aja: I don't know.
- 2:54Prue Aja: It looks like a satellite.
- 2:56Devon: Ok, right and so it's about I don't know.
- 2:57Devon: I want to say about three feet by one and a half OK, you know, not that big.
- 3:03Devon: And so we set them up and we've, we brought the first ever Wi-Fi to the continent.
- 3:09Prue Aja: Do you get a world record for that?
- 3:11Devon: Yes, you do yes, yeah, and we did the first ever live stream from the top of Antarctica, mount Vincent.
- 3:16Devon: It's never been done.
- 3:17Devon: Wow, yeah, I FaceTime my mom, I FaceTime a couple of friends.
- 3:21Prue Aja: That's insane From the top of the continent.
- 3:23Devon: I was.
- 3:23Devon: Yeah, I have to show you the video at some point, but it's, oh my God.
- 3:26Prue Aja: I'll share a link to the video in the show notes.
- 3:28Devon: Yeah, it's like that.
- 3:32Prue Aja: Oh is your face got icicles on it.
- 3:34Devon: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:38Prue Aja: It's SpaceX.
- 3:40Devon: Starlink Savage Tyler over here that made this all happen.
- 3:43Devon: This is the first ever lot ever live stream from the top.
- 3:48Devon: Yeah, so that was the first ever live stream.
- 3:51Devon: So we did that in January, brought all the equipment up now with Union Glacier, which is the main camp in Antarctica, like for when people come in and climb and do expeditions.
- 4:01Devon: They all have Starlink, so I've been talking to a couple of the guides and mountaineers that are over there right now, and this year it's the first time that's live for everyone.
- 4:10Devon: And so now they're, they can tax, they can, they can communicate their safety on the mountain.
- 4:14Prue Aja: So now, it's saving lives, yeah.
- 4:16Devon: Each, each, each camp on Vincent has Starlink, which is really cool.
- 4:20Prue Aja: That's incredible.
- 4:21Prue Aja: So that's on the mainland.
- 4:22Devon: That's mainland and but also even the Starlink on this ship right now is connected to what.
- 4:27Devon: What we set up because you can have the satellite, but if it doesn't talk to the satellite in the sky, then it's useless.
- 4:34Prue Aja: Right.
- 4:34Devon: And so you have to connect those two parts.
- 4:36Prue Aja: Yeah.
- 4:36Devon: And so, by connecting it, what we did in January, now this continent has Wi-Fi.
- 4:42Prue Aja: So the hot that one Starlink has access to the whole not the one yet and it's not how it works.
- 4:48Prue Aja: So it's there's two systems, so I'm just going to check that this isn't like rubbing against your chest.
- 4:54Prue Aja: Let's put it.
- 4:55Prue Aja: Oh, you didn't have to put it through your shirt.
- 4:57Devon: Oh, that's so good, you just do it.
- 4:58Devon: There you go it.
- 5:00Devon: No, not that one All of them, so that one can only have a certain bandwidth, right?
- 5:07Devon: Yeah, just like this.
- 5:08Devon: We, I think we have two on this ship, so that's good for this ship, but if I was on, you know, you know 100 yards, that way I wouldn't be able to connect.
- 5:16Prue Aja: Yes, ok, but.
- 5:18Devon: By connecting it on the back end system.
- 5:20Devon: That allows this to even work.
- 5:24Prue Aja: That means that's because it kind of creates a grid, maybe Correct.
- 5:27Prue Aja: They like bounce at each other.
- 5:29Devon: Yeah, actually it looks exactly like a grid.
- 5:31Devon: If you looked at the map on the back end system, antarctica was just blank, nothing, there was no satellites talking to each other.
- 5:38Devon: Wow, now satellites can talk to each other because of you, because of what we did, yeah.
- 5:43Prue Aja: That's incredible.
- 5:44Devon: It was really cool.
- 5:45Prue Aja: How many times have you been to Antarctica?
- 5:47Devon: This is just the second time.
- 5:49Prue Aja: OK.
- 5:49Devon: Yeah.
- 5:50Prue Aja: So what inspired you to do that the first time, like the first time here, and you're like that's what I'm going to go and do?
- 5:56Devon: Um Well, I think you know I'm doing the 7th Summit, so I'm climbing the highest point of each continent.
- 6:01Devon: So you wanted to be prepared Right, and what inspired that was.
- 6:05Devon: In 2020, I did the New York City Marathon, but I didn't run it, I didn't walk it, I bearcrawled the whole thing, so on all fours.
- 6:14Devon: And so I did that in 20 hours and 48 minutes, and that set a world record, and we raised a ton of money for suicide prevention and mental health.
- 6:23Devon: Wow, veterans in the United States and other countries transition out of the military into civilian life, because right now, there's about 27 veterans a day that take their life, that are struggling with mental health 27 male, female take their lives every single day, which is wild.
- 6:40Devon: We have to lower that.
- 6:41Devon: And so my dad took his life when I was 16.
- 6:43Devon: And so suicide prevention is, you know, big on.
- 6:47Devon: Why I think I'm on earth and why I'm here to help is to help people wake up happier, and so I like doing adventures and excursions to bring awareness to mental health.
- 6:59Devon: And so, after I bearcrawled the marathon, my next thing was all right.
- 7:03Devon: Well, you know, what's Devon going to do next?
- 7:05Devon: I guess it was a big question.
- 7:06Devon: This world is big and I wanted to see it, you know.
- 7:10Devon: And so I said what other way to not only inspire others to like just get out of your normal routine, your normal just like.
- 7:18Devon: Think about how many people just drive into work and drive home the same route every single day and they talk to the same people every single day and they see the same things every single day.
- 7:27Devon: If you just take a different route home, simply just take one left turn or one right turn and expand your brain.
- 7:33Devon: Now take two left turns, two right turns or you know, go talk to a random person at a coffee shop or start a conversation with someone or go somewhere.
- 7:41Devon: That's how your brain expands and I think that's how people can cope with mental health issues is by just expanding your brain and seeing what the world has to offer 100%.
- 7:51Prue Aja: When I was a kid, I had a map of the world on my wall and I used to just look at it and go.
- 7:55Prue Aja: We only live here in this tiny little bit, so I've always been really inspired to go and like see everything.
- 8:03Devon: Everything.
- 8:04Prue Aja: Yeah, and I'm a huge traveler.
- 8:06Prue Aja: This is my second trip since COVID.
- 8:08Prue Aja: I was in Fiji a couple of months ago.
- 8:10Prue Aja: There is a bit of guilt around traveling, though, and the effects environmental effects of flying.
- 8:17Prue Aja: What are your thoughts around that?
- 8:20Devon: I think it does.
- 8:21Devon: I think there is some type of effect.
- 8:24Devon: But I think life's really short and I think I don't want to say I offset it.
- 8:37Devon: But you know I do Well with the impact you're creating with by the things that you're doing.
- 8:42Devon: I think it's more I don't know.
- 8:45Devon: I think it's more impactful than negative.
- 8:46Devon: You know me taking a flight to New York to bear Carl Marathon and save thousands of people's lives.
- 8:53Devon: I think the people that see me online I get messages every day like, dude, you travel in Antarctica or go into Africa or go into these places it literally saved my life, like I was on the edge.
- 9:07Devon: So you know you kind of have to pick and choose and you know I value people's lives probably a little bit.
- 9:13Devon: You know, not more or less, but just you know I value people's lives and you know I know what people go through and they need to see someone else do it.
- 9:22Devon: You know, before they start to do it, a lot of people need direction.
- 9:26Devon: A lot of people aren't.
- 9:27Devon: You know they're afraid to take the leap of faith, they're afraid to try something new and if you can pioneer that.
- 9:32Devon: You know environment, you know I feel very much the same.
- 9:36Prue Aja: That's what this podcast is all about is inspiring and motivating people to live their best lives.
- 9:42Prue Aja: Like I grew up, my parents had drug addictions, my mom died when I was 13, and then my dad had mental health issues all through my teenage years, and so I left home and I was like I'm going to create the best life ever and really share that with people and inspire them that you can really do anything if you put your mind to it.
- 10:02Prue Aja: I think the hardest thing is actually creating a vision of what is possible, Because people are like I don't know what I want, and so I think by doing these things and showing them and going well, this is possible, and that plants a seed for them to go oh, so maybe I can do that too.
- 10:21Prue Aja: Correct and allows people to dream big, because once you dream big and you set the intention, and then it's just a matter of taking small intentional steps each day and really believing in yourself.
- 10:31Devon: Exactly and you can make it happen.
- 10:32Devon: It's like the first human that ever broke the first ever four minute mile, which was like world-renowned.
- 10:40Devon: You know, it was like, oh my God, they didn't think it was even possible for a human to do that.
- 10:44Devon: And when that person broke the record there was like 20 other people that did it right afterwards and it wasn't because they were healthier or not or they did something different.
- 10:58Devon: It's just because that person broke the record and they proved it was possible.
- 11:04Devon: And now everyone else is.
- 11:06Devon: They believe, and a lot of it just comes down to your mind.
- 11:10Prue Aja: And making that decision as well, yeah, doing that.
- 11:13Prue Aja: So we're here today.
- 11:15Prue Aja: You've got maybe a hundred people to do a polar plunge.
- 11:19Devon: Yes, I did.
- 11:20Prue Aja: And it sounds like you've got a lot of experience in this and you're talking a bit before about the mental health effects.
- 11:25Prue Aja: Maybe share a bit about your experience when you first discovered it?
- 11:30Devon: Right.
- 11:30Devon: So you know I played football, American football and baseball in college, and before that I was at military academy, and so we were doing cold plunges pretty much daily, just for sports and recovery.
- 11:42Devon: But recently so you know I would say 15 years but recently it's been implemented more into people's everyday, outside of just inflammation, outside of just the body, the body effects it has on you, the positive body effects it has on you.
- 11:56Devon: It's now more for mental health.
- 12:01Devon: It helps people do something hard at the beginning of their day so the rest of their days feels easier.
- 12:07Devon: It helps people increase their dopamine levels.
- 12:10Devon: They're endorphins.
- 12:11Devon: It really gets down to the science of why getting in cold exposure like helps you from mental perspective.
- 12:18Devon: Right.
- 12:19Devon: It also does a thing that not a lot of people talk about it brings community together.
- 12:23Devon: Think about how many people were excited today to go in, not just for themselves, but to be a part of it, to go down to jump in.
- 12:30Devon: Everyone is cheering each other on Like.
- 12:32Devon: It brings the other community and that's one thing that you know I think a lot of us forget keeps us young.
- 12:37Devon: It's one of the main pillars of the blue zones, and longevity is community.
- 12:42Devon: It's like being with other people and like being a part of something, and everyone wants to be a part of something, Right?
- 12:47Devon: I know that for a fact.
- 12:48Devon: Everyone, I don't care what it is or who you are everyone wants to be a part of something, and if that's what entices them.
- 12:55Devon: And cold can bring people together, just like food.
- 12:57Devon: Food brings people together, Working out brings people together, Travel brings people together.
- 13:00Devon: Cold plunging is the same thing.
- 13:01Devon: It brings people together.
- 13:03Devon: And so, of course, the dopamine, the endorphins.
- 13:06Devon: You know.
- 13:07Devon: There's science backed studies that prove how great it is for your mental health to do a cold plunge every morning.
- 13:13Devon: Right, and the sauna as well.
- 13:15Devon: If you do a sauna five times a week for 10 minutes a day, you can decrease your chances of death by 50%.
- 13:21Devon: It's a real stat, you know, from a dopamine perspective, for cold plunging, if you can go in a cold plunge anywhere from 39 to 45 ish degrees, you can increase your dopamine as the same amount as cocaine.
- 13:36Devon: But the difference is the dopamine and cocaine only last for eight and a half minutes.
- 13:40Devon: The dopamine and cold plunge that you get from cold plunging lasts for two and a half hours.
- 13:44Prue Aja: I'm still buzzing.
- 13:45Devon: Right, you still feel I feel amazing right now, right, and that's the rest of that last bird, you know two hours.
- 13:50Devon: So you know, I think the community side is big for people's mental health.
- 13:54Devon: I think the dopamine, the endorphins, obviously is amazing.
- 13:56Devon: And then, yeah, it's great for inflammation, it's great for recovery.
- 13:59Devon: It's just, it's overall, it's just amazing, amazing for you.
- 14:04Devon: So I encourage everyone listening to this to try a cold plunge.
- 14:07Devon: If you haven't, if you don't have access to a cold plunge, try a cold shower.
- 14:10Prue Aja: Yeah, and that's what I wanted to mention.
- 14:12Prue Aja: Actually, you know, you don't have to go out and buy a cold plunge pool or, as my friend has, she's got a deep freezer which is what we use, which is awesome.
- 14:20Prue Aja: Yeah, it's the same thing and I did a few before I came here and midway through this year I started getting really crazy anxiety like pins and needles, waking up at 3am and I met this guy at SOMA, which is a meditation center in Byron, and he's told me two things.
- 14:38Prue Aja: He goes, just start doing these two things and I promise in six weeks you won't have this any, you won't have this anxiety anymore, cause I was like, I was like broken and he said two minute cold shower.
- 14:49Prue Aja: As soon as you wake up every morning and watch the sunrise, like, stop wearing sunglasses, especially before 9am, because that rising sun is how vitamin D is processed and that helps with your mental health as well.
- 15:02Prue Aja: And yeah, it works.
- 15:04Devon: And it also helps keep your circadian rhythm on point.
- 15:09Devon: Yes, you know if you're ever traveling and you're like, oh man, you know, my sleep is off, you know I have, you know, jet lag, go into the sun and that'll help reset your circadian rhythm and get you back on track.
- 15:20Devon: So I agree with all that it's cold in the morning.
- 15:23Devon: If you can do sauna, do that in the morning.
- 15:25Devon: If you can focus on your gut health and drink pre and probiotics amazing for you.
- 15:32Devon: That's what helps repair your gut.
- 15:33Devon: 70% of major diseases are formed from your gut.
- 15:35Devon: If you can get into sunlight in the morning, those are all just like things that are amazing for longevity, for health, for you to feel really good.
- 15:46Prue Aja: Basic human things.
- 15:47Prue Aja: Okay, I'm going to ask a question.
- 15:49Prue Aja: What is the difference between prebiotics and probiotics?
- 15:53Devon: Yeah, prebiot, prebiot, they're both.
- 15:55Devon: Bacteria is in your gut and they're good, and the probiotics actually eat the prebiotics, and so probiotics can't live without preys.
- 16:05Prue Aja: Right, right so they, you.
- 16:07Devon: Most people take probiotics like in yogurt, right?
- 16:09Devon: Probiotics are great for you, but you need the preys to feed it.
- 16:12Devon: Right.
- 16:13Prue Aja: Correct.
- 16:13Prue Aja: Okay, yeah, we a bit of a fad started going around my hometown with this yogurt.
- 16:20Prue Aja: There was this new strain and people were talking about and we all started bought our yogurt kits and started making yogurt recently and it was incredible this yogurt because it just softened everyone became soft and like loving.
- 16:33Prue Aja: Have you heard about this?
- 16:35Devon: strain of yogurt.
- 16:36Prue Aja: I have to find it and put it in the show notes, because it is incredible, it's a process making it.
- 16:41Devon: Okay, but is it dairy?
- 16:43Prue Aja: You can do it, dairy or coconut, oh you can.
- 16:45Prue Aja: So it's actually a matter of using the, the bacteria which you can get in capsules, and then you put the capsules into it.
- 16:53Prue Aja: You know you make it to a certain heat temperature because you don't want to kill it, and then you mix it in, you put in the yogurt maker.
- 16:59Prue Aja: I think it's for 30 hours.
- 17:01Devon: Wow.
- 17:01Prue Aja: And then you just have a few tablespoons a day and it's just really good bacteria in your body.
- 17:07Prue Aja: It's so good for you, and it just kind of shifted your energy to soften everyone Wow.
- 17:13Prue Aja: My friend who's got like three little kids at home.
- 17:16Prue Aja: Her and her husband started having it and was giving it to the kids and everyone was becoming less reactive, less frustrated.
- 17:24Devon: Oh wow, so she's people's mood.
- 17:26Prue Aja: Changes people's mood.
- 17:27Prue Aja: Yeah, so I'll have to find it and I'll share it with you, that's insane.
- 17:30Prue Aja: It's really cool.
- 17:31Devon: There's still whales out there, by the way.
- 17:34Prue Aja: Like this People are insane.
- 17:35Prue Aja: This is absolutely insane.
- 17:39Prue Aja: What's been your moment of awe?
- 17:43Devon: I would say I would say that the climb yesterday was really cool.
- 17:48Devon: The hike it's beautiful Just because it.
- 17:50Devon: You know, I love climbing, mainly for when you get to the top you just the views, you see, you know, and you feel so accomplished.
- 18:00Devon: But yesterday, that view and just being able to sit down and just take it in, and there was a couple of people that sat down.
- 18:09Devon: Most people are just climbing to the top and then coming down but then my one buddy sat down and started meditating and then you see like 30 other people follow and it was cool to see, you know, people just really taking it.
- 18:21Devon: No phones were out, it was just you're just really taking in the views and the weather and the and the quietness and the I don't know the air, did you?
- 18:33Prue Aja: get a chance of pure silence, because that was our intention.
- 18:36Prue Aja: Yes, and I did a podcast yesterday and Sarah was in the room and we said we're re everyone's talking all the time and it's great there's so much connection happening here.
- 18:45Prue Aja: But this is such dramatic landscape and once you're quiet, the silence so good you just hear this ginormous ice cracking or some penguins talking, but when there's actually nothing.
- 18:58Prue Aja: It's, it's just crazy, it's crazy.
- 19:02Prue Aja: There's like time stands, stills, you know, on another planet and truly quiet yeah.
- 19:07Devon: There's nothing else around.
- 19:08Prue Aja: Yeah, I actually want to.
- 19:10Prue Aja: I makes me want to go and do it by myself.
- 19:12Devon: What?
- 19:12Devon: What was your favorite part so far?
- 19:15Prue Aja: That was pretty incredible.
- 19:16Prue Aja: Yes, actually I had a moment.
- 19:18Prue Aja: I think it was two mornings ago.
- 19:21Prue Aja: I got up and did the tea ceremony.
- 19:23Prue Aja: Have you done a tea ceremony here?
- 19:25Devon: I have not.
- 19:25Prue Aja: No, so I think there was only four or five of us and I got this text message that was really triggering just before it.
- 19:33Devon: Oh no.
- 19:34Prue Aja: And so you know the reactive stuff and being angry at this person and then going into tea ceremony and just thinking like annoying thoughts about this person and then sitting with them and go.
- 19:45Prue Aja: Why is it that I'm angry and diving deep into where this fear, like where it was all coming from?
- 19:50Prue Aja: And I have done quite a lot of personal work this year and it was just like a little bit of residue that was left over that I hadn't fully cleared and being able to really witness that and go.
- 20:02Prue Aja: It's time to just let this go and trust it's gonna be okay.
- 20:05Devon: I love that I love this person.
- 20:08Prue Aja: It's their thing.
- 20:08Prue Aja: You know, I get to choose how I react to it.
- 20:11Prue Aja: And I started crying and then it was unbelievable, similar to those mountains we just saw.
- 20:17Prue Aja: It was the ocean, was fog, and then there was mountains, and then there was fog and we were just sailing through in slow motion and it looked like we were flying and it was just this infinite expansive space and I was like, look where I am.
- 20:36Prue Aja: I just had that moment of going look where you are.
- 20:38Devon: It's just amazing.
- 20:39Prue Aja: Bring it back to the present and nothing actually matters.
- 20:41Prue Aja: Everything is perfect right here, right now, in this moment.
- 20:43Prue Aja: And then we did yoga with Andrew, and that was my all moment.
- 20:50Devon: That's a good.
- 20:51Devon: You know, I mentor about a hundred founders every three months.
- 20:56Devon: It's called Devin's Inner Circle and we have a curriculum that we bring them through and my mental health coach, johnny Martin, writes a curriculum.
- 21:06Devon: And month one is we figure out who people are and what their values are like, what matters most to them.
- 21:11Devon: Month two is their obstacles.
- 21:12Devon: And month three I start connecting them with my network of people, people that have helped my career scale.
- 21:18Devon: And you know, one thing I always tell everyone is I don't, I.
- 21:24Devon: You know yourself better than anyone, right?
- 21:26Devon: I don't know I can get to know them, but they know themselves better than anyone, right?
- 21:31Devon: You know yourself better than anyone could ever understand, right?
- 21:33Devon: And one thing I know is there's no book that necessarily has all the answers.
- 21:42Devon: But if you read books, if you try experiences, if you talk to people, if you try things, you never know when you're gonna have your aha moment.
- 21:51Devon: And those aha moments we can't plan them, they just happen.
- 21:54Devon: Just like you know you going into tea, right, you didn't know like you're gonna get that triggering text and then, boom, you're gonna go into tea and you say, wow, like you know what.
- 22:03Devon: Aha, you know, this is how I'm gonna start handling the situation, and I think that's the most beautiful thing when people realize they're aha moments, but you're not gonna get the aha moment from sitting on your couch.
- 22:14Prue Aja: Scrolling on Instagram.
- 22:15Devon: I mean maybe scrolling like maybe a couple, but you're much more likely to get those aha moments when you're out, when you're talking, when you're experiencing new things, when you're seeing new things, and that's when you really start to.
- 22:27Devon: That's when I think all the people when I travel and I meet them, they're so cultured and they know themselves and they're so like calming and they're just like great to talk to and it's good conversation.
- 22:36Devon: I'm like man like this person just gets it.
- 22:38Devon: They've clearly had so many aha moments in their life that just like keep building up, building up to I don't know, just add to their personality and add to who they are.
- 22:48Devon: And I think it's important for us to constantly put ourselves in situations to receive those aha moments.
- 22:54Prue Aja: And challenge yourself, and actually I, just as you were speaking, I was thinking about.
- 22:58Prue Aja: You know emotions as feelings in motion, and tea ceremony is liquid and we're 80% water and so and that's what they explained after was the tea moves your emotions through your body.
- 23:13Devon: Oh interesting.
- 23:14Prue Aja: So it was processing it.
- 23:16Prue Aja: Have you done tea ceremony ever?
- 23:18Devon: No, I've done cacao ceremony, but I've never done a tea ceremony.
- 23:22Prue Aja: Oh, I really recommend it.
- 23:24Devon: Maybe tomorrow morning.
- 23:26Prue Aja: Yeah, hopefully they're doing it.
- 23:27Prue Aja: There's a tea ceremony place that's in my town.
- 23:30Prue Aja: Have you been to Byron Bay?
- 23:31Devon: in Australia?
- 23:31Devon: I have not.
- 23:32Devon: No, I know you have to come.
- 23:33Prue Aja: Maybe you come and do tea ceremony with me in Byron Bay.
- 23:37Devon: Yes.
- 23:38Prue Aja: I'm gonna say it's probably the best place on earth.
- 23:40Devon: Oh really.
- 23:41Prue Aja: Yeah, it's magical.
- 23:42Prue Aja: I'll show you some photos after.
- 23:44Devon: It's very it's a very, very special land that we live on.
- 23:49Prue Aja: It's a very healing land, which means it also brings up a lot of stuff.
- 23:53Prue Aja: So people come to Byron to heal.
- 23:55Prue Aja: You're not meant to actually like.
- 23:56Prue Aja: The indigenous people didn't live there.
- 23:58Prue Aja: It's a place to come and heal and then you move on.
- 24:01Devon: Wow, so you don't?
- 24:02Devon: You don't live there, I do live there.
- 24:04Devon: Oh, you live there, though, yeah.
- 24:06Prue Aja: And I thought I was moving back for good.
- 24:07Prue Aja: But now, after meeting all these Americans, I'm like I think there's something in America for me, I'm gonna head over.
- 24:11Devon: Oh, really yeah.
- 24:12Prue Aja: I'm gonna come in April, I'm gonna do it.
- 24:14Prue Aja: Sarah's got a trip planned from Mexico, I'm gonna do that.
- 24:17Prue Aja: And then I do photo shoot tours.
- 24:19Prue Aja: So I go to different cities and people book in portrait shoots with me, oh sweet.
- 24:23Devon: So that's kinda how I'm a business.
- 24:24Devon: Your photos are amazing, by the way.
- 24:26Prue Aja: Oh, thank you.
- 24:26Devon: You're off the charts.
- 24:28Prue Aja: Thanks.
- 24:28Prue Aja: Is there anything else that you wanna share about this journey?
- 24:32Devon: You know?
- 24:32Devon: No, I think you know people want to expand their brain and they, you know.
- 24:37Devon: If you're stuck in life and you know you're figuring out what direction to go, be spontaneous, go somewhere, start a new conversation, take another route home, just like, try new things and you don't know when it's going to click, but it will, as long as you try and you put yourself in a place to receive opportunity.
- 24:59Prue Aja: Definitely.
- 24:59Prue Aja: And you know what Something I experienced on this trip and I'm just going to be really honest here the first night we had this dinner and there's some superstars here.
- 25:07Prue Aja: You're a superstar, thank you.
- 25:09Prue Aja: I've realized actually everyone is their own superstar really, and so I got social anxiety.
- 25:14Prue Aja: I'm like, oh my God, all these people are you know, and then the whole ego thing.
- 25:19Prue Aja: Who am I meant to be?
- 25:20Prue Aja: Who am I in this world?
- 25:21Prue Aja: And then actually, you know, spending more time with people and shedding that, how I've explained it actually is everyone's come from their places and they're all on their own vibration.
- 25:33Prue Aja: We're all on different vibrations.
- 25:34Prue Aja: And then we came together and people were like it was kind of grinding maybe not grinding against each other, that sounds sus.
- 25:41Prue Aja: But we all came together and then what's happened is we've all started vibrating the same energy and everything's just fallen away and we've all kind of integrated into unity and connected in such a beautiful way here.
- 25:54Prue Aja: No one's better than anyone else.
- 25:56Prue Aja: Everyone's had their past and their stories and stuff, but right now we're all just being so in the present and enjoying this mysterious land where it's a bit hard to have a body clock because the sun never goes down.
- 26:10Devon: No, yes, crazy the circadian rhythm does not exist yet 24-7 sunlight.
- 26:15Prue Aja: Yeah, what I've realized is you don't sleep in Antarctica, you don't, I don't, there we go.
- 26:20Prue Aja: Good afternoon and evening.
- 26:21Prue Aja: Ladies and gentlemen.
- 26:23Devon: We'll cut this part out.
- 26:28Prue Aja: Have you done the distal?
- 26:29Devon: I have.
- 26:29Devon: I did it the first time.
- 26:31Devon: I did it the first time this will be built in the dome on deck seven.
- 26:33Devon: I mean, sorry, not on deck seven.
- 26:34Devon: That's right, thank you.
- 26:36Devon: It's actually been an announcement in each episode, is there?
- 26:40Devon: So I'm just going to leave it.
- 26:41Devon: Oh, I like it, it's a part of it.
- 26:42Prue Aja: Yeah, it's a part of it, that's actually really funny and I love how you know we're all going to be doing this we're going to be doing this we're going to be doing this, we're going to be doing this.
- 26:49Devon: We're going to be doing this.
- 26:50Devon: We're going to be doing this.
- 26:51Prue Aja: And I love how you know each.
- 26:53Prue Aja: You know.
- 26:54Prue Aja: The thing about being here is about being flexible, and so every day is different.
- 26:58Devon: Yeah.
- 26:59Prue Aja: And you can't.
- 26:59Prue Aja: There's no expectations.
- 27:01Devon: No.
- 27:01Prue Aja: Everything's falling away and it's like, okay, we're going to go do some group therapy now.
- 27:05Devon: Yeah, that's just what it is, and also like that's the beauty of these trips and this is why I love mountaineering.
- 27:10Devon: You know I go on these mountains and people are like, well, how long is it going to take?
- 27:14Devon: When are you summoning?
- 27:14Devon: And I'm like I don't know, weather and Mother Nature has their own agenda and I have no idea.
- 27:21Devon: But I have to respect that and, like you have to be, you just have to stay ready and like here is kind of the same thing.
- 27:26Devon: You know, we're going to run into some weather things.
- 27:28Devon: Probably we.
- 27:30Devon: You know, not everything's planned out perfectly, but it's it's.
- 27:35Devon: It's okay.
- 27:35Devon: You know, everything that I'm saying right now is supposed to be said on November, december 18th, at 6.02 PM.
- 27:43Devon: You know, I'm 31 years old.
- 27:44Devon: This is what is I'm supposed to be coming out of my mouth, like every single thing.
- 27:49Devon: It's like it's not.
- 27:50Devon: And you know, what I said five minutes ago was supposed to be said.
- 27:53Devon: What I'm about to say in five minutes is supposed to be said.
- 27:55Devon: Like you have to trust what is happening now because it's supposed to happen.
- 28:00Prue Aja: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 28:01Prue Aja: That's why I don't.
- 28:03Prue Aja: This is an unplanned like.
- 28:04Prue Aja: People are like what are we going to talk about?
- 28:06Prue Aja: I'm like just trust what?
- 28:07Prue Aja: Happened, because we're just going to be fully present and allow, allow that creative consciousness to come through.
- 28:13Prue Aja: That is pure truth, authenticity and what is meant to be said in that moment, and shared with everyone else.
- 28:19Devon: Have you seen the Chinese farmer?
- 28:21Prue Aja: No All right Watch.
- 28:23Devon: I want everyone that's listening to this to go watch the Chinese farmer, and I'm just going to stop there on YouTube and it's.
- 28:27Devon: It's a really good way about thinking.
- 28:29Devon: You know, going about life thinking about life yeah.
- 28:32Prue Aja: All right, we will leave it there.
- 28:33Devon: Thank you so much.
