- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, friend.
- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to Bible Trek at Ghost.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for listening to today.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Mike and McCurray.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate your investment of time right now.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night?
- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's real dark.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you got black out curtains up on the windows.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: You can't see anything.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: And you stumble.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: You fall into something.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: And then, in your desperation, in your frustration, you flip.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: the lights on.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: And then of course you blind yourself.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: You can't see anything for a singing as your eyeballs get adjusted to the fact that you have assaulted them with those lights.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it isn't incredible, it's an incredible thing when you turn the lights on.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: How much more you can see?
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: I recall helping my dad work on cars.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: My dad was a good worker, a hard worker still is to this
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: often times he'd come back, he'd come home from work, and then we'd work on the car after.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: He got home, and sometimes it'd be late.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe especially if it was winter-time days or shorter, and there I was standing holding the flashlight in the frigid cold, and it'd say, point the light over here, son, you're pointing it everywhere except for where I need it, why?
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: Because the light is useful, because the light helps, because the light is important.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: tells us the story of how light itself, not the flashlight, not even the sun that great light that rules the day, don't talk about light itself where it came from.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: Genesis 1 verse 1, the Bible says this, in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: And the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moored upon the face of the waters.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: And God said, let there be light, and there was light.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: What a blessing it is that God flipped the lights on in creation, but he did not have to take a physical action.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: He did not have to move his finger even as powerful as God's hands are.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have to move his hands to cause the lights to come on in creation, but he also flipped the lights on in my life.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: There was a day.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: I was a young boy, Monterey Bay, California.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, maybe I'll save the story and tell you a little bit more tomorrow.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: But there was a day that I came under conviction.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: I knew I was lost.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: I knew I was on my way to a place called Hell, and without the lovely Lord Jesus.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's where I'd still be going.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: But praise be to His wonderful name.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: The lights came on.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe today you need the lights flipped on in your life.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe as you're listening to me right now, maybe you wonder.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm a little darkened.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a little unsure.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have the peace that I want.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: Well, friend, I encourage you.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: Listen to what I have to say right now.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: What you're gonna hear in just a moment is my voice, but my voice from just a little while ago, I had the opportunity to preach a message about the beginning from Genesis 1, 1 through 3, those verses I just read, and we talked about this subject of God flipping the lines on.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like you to listen to this.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it's a recording, but I believe what I said could be a help to you today.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: So listen now.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you may think it's cool to say, hey, Siri, or okay Google, or Alexa this, Alexa that, whatever, maybe.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: But God spoke to nothing and something answered.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's pretty incredible, is it not?
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: And God said, let there be light, and there wasn't somebody standing like dosing off next to a massive breaker, and he just went, no, no, it just happened, just like that.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: And God said, let there be light, and this is Paul's argument in St. Corinthians chapter four, he says this for God, verse 6, who commanded the light, the light,
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: to shine out of darkness, have shine in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: You say, how can you make this application from Genesis 1 through 3?
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if Paul made an application and put light versus darkness in creation versus disorder, then I think I want to study ground, biblically, to do so, okay?
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: But he made the exact point that we had darkness in our hearts and God flipped the lights on.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: I believe if you could rank every miracle that God has done, Genesis 1, 1 would stand alone at the top, except for one that supersedes it.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: I believe the word that God can do in the human heart is greater still.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: Old creation, yeah, God formed the universe from nothing.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: New creation, God takes rank, dirty, wicked, pitiful, evil man.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: You say, that's not me.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: Spend a little more time looking yourself in the mirror friend.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't mean that a derogatory way, but a man or woman that can't be honest can't be helped.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: And we all know what resides here and here if we're honest with ourselves.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what God took and transformed it to light.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: Old creation God made matter.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: New creation God gives mercy.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Old creation temporary universe.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: This universe will spin itself to death at some point.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: New creation eternal soul.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: old creation, spoke galaxies in the being, new creation speaks life into the spiritually dead, Saint Corinthians 517, therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold, all things will become new.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: To turn nothing into something that's pretty incredible, what happens when you have to fight the nothingness itself?
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: The nothingness wasn't fighting back in Genesis 1.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: God said it, and it just happened, you know what we do?
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: We fight him.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: We make his job even more difficult than Genesis 1-1.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: The one who could call a star into being.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: He made the stars also.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's calling you.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: The question is, are you listening?
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: Why is this a greater miracle?
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: Creation cost, God, nothing.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: Calgary cost of his son.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: Let there be light, a pastor friend of mine, John O'Miller, over in New Zealand, been there for some years, the church is doing it very well.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: The probably one the largest church is in New Zealand, independent about his church is there, and he's been praying for it's seeking revival.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: He talked about his story.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: He came from an atheistic background.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: We actually just, it's a gospel film.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: We just put out from BTI.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: And he, he used a turn of praise.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if he used it in the film or not.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: He said it personally though.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty sure he did.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: He said this phrase, soul hunger.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: He said as an atheistic young man with the world on a string, he had everything except for,
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: something to say she ate to fulfill that aching soul hunger that he had.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: He had all the intellect, had all the money, had everything he wanted, the party life and all, but he had this soul hunger so much so that he was at a party and God moved in his heart.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: And he put the alcohol down, walked outside, looked up at the night sky that he would have told you moments before that evolution had created.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: Just hot gases congilling together, he could have explained it all.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: And he looked up and said, there's got to be a God.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: And that soul hunger drove him to his knees and he got saved that night.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's another man born in 1725, violent, profane, blasphemous, racked by sin, a self-admitted, wretched, and a slave trader.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: His name was John Newton.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: But God turned the lights on.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: The words spoke, the light shined.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: Newton later said, I am not what I ought to be about the grace of God.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not what I once was.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: And he wrote these words.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretched like me.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: I once was lost, but now M found was blind, but now I see.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it was of a Lord, but Miss Allison, my daughter, Emmy, was probably sitting in the piano.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not sure if she was assigned amazing Grace, or if she's just going a little bit ahead, I pretty sure I knew the answer to that question.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: And there she was plunking away at this song last night.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's a couple other verses
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the one who has grace that taught my heart to fear and grace, my fears relieved.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: How precious did that grace appear in the hour I first believe, but here's one you may not know.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: The Lord has promised good to me.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: His word, His word, my hope secures.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: He will, my shield, and portion be as long as life and doors.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'll end with this one.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, the sun for bear to shine, but God who called me here below will be forever mine.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: My question is, do you have that soul hunger today?
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that word darkness,
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: grabs you, you devoid of light, you know, when you're dark, you're not receiving light or reflecting light.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: You realize if light is shined, no matter how matte of a surface, how unreflective, there's always a little bit the bounces back.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: Even in the worst Christian's life, there's always a little bit of Christ that seeps out because it's inside you, you cannot help it.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: But understand this, you may be completely and utterly dark today.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: Last description I'm done, Ephesians 2, 13 says, but now in Christ Jesus, ye, who sometimes were far off, are made naïe by the blood of Christ in verse 18, for through him, we both have access by one spirit under the Father, the Spirit of God moved.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe the Spirit of God's moving on your heart today.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: Christian friend, he said, let there be light.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know what we're supposed to be?
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: Little candles in the darkness.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: Let the devil, it out?
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: No, no chance.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to let it shine.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: Are you?
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: Have you?
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: Will you?
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: If you're here today, you don't know Christ, you're your savior.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: And you know you are darkened inside.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: Today would be a wonderful day to get that settled.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: Every head bound, every eye closed.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: Friend, I wonder, are the lights on?
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: Is anybody home?
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: Christian friend, if you're listening right now, let me ask you, is your light shining, or do you need the lights turned on or turned up?
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: Can you say like John Newton, the author of Amazing Grace, that you aren't, what you once were, has your life been changed, have the lights been turned on?
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's my question if you today.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: Are you living in futility?
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: Are you bothered by that which you cannot control?
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Things like utility and death.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: They cause you to pause.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe just maybe it's not peace in a turn that you're even looking for it's peace right now.
