- 0:00Speaker 1: It feaks to the plan. This Charlamagne God here.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Before we get into today's episode, we've got to celebrate
- 0:04Speaker 2: the Black Effect Podcast Network. It's turning five years old, man,
- 0:08Speaker 2: five years of powerful voices, unforgettable moments in the community
- 0:11Speaker 2: that keeps growing.
- 0:12Speaker 1: This is the power of the platform. Now let's get
- 0:14Speaker 1: into it. Welcome to Just Heal with Doctor J, a
- 0:17Speaker 1: production of the Black Effect Podcast Network and iHeartRadio. Welcome
- 0:22Speaker 1: back to another episode Just Heal with Doctor J and
- 0:26Speaker 1: I am your host, Doctor J. Listen. If you haven't
- 0:29Speaker 1: subscribed yet, click that link and subscribe and join our
- 0:33Speaker 1: healing community. We have so many great things planned, so
- 0:37Speaker 1: many great things that we want to invest into the
- 0:39Speaker 1: healing community. Coming soon, I'm going to be doing courses.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I'm going to be doing a live once a month,
- 0:46Speaker 1: pouring into the individuals that are wanting to continue their
- 0:49Speaker 1: healing journey. And as I often say, healing is a
- 0:51Speaker 1: journey and wholeness is the destination. But I don't want
- 0:54Speaker 1: to take up too much of your time because I
- 0:56Speaker 1: got another guest that's back for a second time. Oh
- 1:00Speaker 1: you gonna put that on Yes, I'm gonna put that
- 1:02Speaker 1: on camera.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Back for a second time unplaying because for some kind
- 1:06Speaker 3: of way, CJ don't know, and I'm not doing CJ
- 1:10Speaker 3: on the bro't y'all know that's my right hand man
- 1:13Speaker 3: for CJ. CJ called me and said, Bro, something happened
- 1:17Speaker 3: to Major's episode. We got the audio, Bro, but we
- 1:19Speaker 3: don't have the visual. So here we are again, back
- 1:22Speaker 3: in La recording our brother, gospel award winning artist, you
- 1:28Speaker 3: know him, for the most played wedding song of all times,
- 1:33Speaker 3: beyond Riven in the Sky.
- 1:35Speaker 1: This is why I love you. Anyway, I know Stevie
- 1:39Speaker 1: wonder is his boy, is his mentor? Is his dude?
- 1:42Speaker 1: And Stevie, listen, I know you can hear me, but
- 1:45Speaker 1: I want you pay attention to what I'm saying. So
- 1:48Speaker 1: we respect you, Stevie. But Major do has the top
- 1:51Speaker 1: wedding song. Well, Stevie, to be fair, Uncle Stevie did
- 1:55Speaker 1: say I believe this would be the wedding love song
- 1:57Speaker 1: for years to come, and it is. He gave me
- 2:00Speaker 1: his blessing and Ribbing in the Sky clearly set the
- 2:03Speaker 1: mark absolutely, And so why I love you is just
- 2:06Speaker 1: trying to anyway, stop being humble. Anyway, Stevie, we reverew you,
- 2:11Speaker 1: We respect you. But right now, Major is the leading
- 2:15Speaker 1: wedding song. This is why I love you anyway. Welcome
- 2:19Speaker 1: to the healing community. My brother, my friend, and this
- 2:23Speaker 1: dude is just I don't have anything else to say.
- 2:25Speaker 1: We we are like dumb and dumber. I guess I'll
- 2:29Speaker 1: be dumb. Gotta be dumb, ladies and gentlemen. His brother
- 2:36Speaker 1: is here, the platinum soul singer, my mama's favorite hope dealer. Huh, mister,
- 2:43Speaker 1: this is why I love you and that new nude.
- 2:46Speaker 1: I set a prayer for you. We hear him, brother,
- 2:49Speaker 1: but the ain't for having me again. But you ain't
- 2:50Speaker 1: say no prayer for me. I did, Actually, I actually
- 2:53Speaker 1: do pray for you. You know that card. Let's start
- 2:55Speaker 1: this thing, so listen, we're back a second time again.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Y'all See the type of relationship me a Major had.
- 3:04Speaker 1: It is constant batter It is constant back and forth.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It is a brotherhood and a friendship that I greatly
- 3:12Speaker 1: appreciate that we have. So before we get into it,
- 3:17Speaker 1: I don't even talk about the project. I love to
- 3:19Speaker 1: open up every episode, which is, how are you feeling?
- 3:23Speaker 1: If you could just locate your feelings in this moment?
- 3:27Speaker 1: Who to be honest. Today I am grateful but also overwhelmed.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I'm preparing for a tour. I'm you know, thinking of
- 3:45Speaker 1: all the different areas that I can strengthen as it
- 3:49Speaker 1: relates to my career. I'm grateful for my wife. I'm
- 3:54Speaker 1: grateful for my life. I'm grateful for the many blessings
- 3:59Speaker 1: that have finally shown up in this season. You know,
- 4:05Speaker 1: I pray for you when number one since the last
- 4:08Speaker 1: time we talked, and it got me a Stellar nomination
- 4:12Speaker 1: our Performingly Stellar Awards, and it's a lot of really
- 4:15Speaker 1: cool stuff happening. But I think I'm a bit overwhelmed
- 4:20Speaker 1: with a lot that is happening and wanting to show
- 4:25Speaker 1: up well for all of it. So I'm gonna have
- 4:28Speaker 1: to start, you know, you know, living the hope that
- 4:31Speaker 1: I'm giving. You feel me that pace? Oh now you
- 4:35Speaker 1: tap it into my book? Yeah, absolutely, sewing pace. I
- 4:39Speaker 1: love that you were able to identify the oxymoranity or
- 4:45Speaker 1: I will say, or I would like to say, the
- 4:47Speaker 1: paradoxical of just life. Yeah, you know, I'm excited about something,
- 4:54Speaker 1: but I'm also concerned because a sense of overwhelming or
- 4:59Speaker 1: overwhelming it's just really a sense of concern right where
- 5:03Speaker 1: it's like, man, am I ready? Do I have what
- 5:06Speaker 1: it takes? Am I enough? I don't think it's the
- 5:09Speaker 1: same thing as some would say that it could be
- 5:11Speaker 1: synonymous to imposter syndrome, But I think the overwhelmness, overwhelming
- 5:17Speaker 1: feeling that you are sensing is really like, man, a
- 5:20Speaker 1: lot is happening at one time. Yeah, I definitely know
- 5:23Speaker 1: specific to right now. That's the thing, like, am I ready?
- 5:28Speaker 1: You know? Am I giving enough to meet the need
- 5:33Speaker 1: before I arrive at it? I have wrestled with imposter syndrome,
- 5:38Speaker 1: believe it or not, as bold as I move, I
- 5:41Speaker 1: have wrestled with imposter syndrome. And I think it's fair
- 5:45Speaker 1: to speak to that duality of life because that's literally
- 5:49Speaker 1: what life is. And like you said, you've mentioned in
- 5:52Speaker 1: your book. In my new project, The Hope Dealer Sessions,
- 5:56Speaker 1: I talk about that life is hope and healy, pain
- 6:00Speaker 1: and purpose, trial and triumph. You know, it's all of it.
- 6:04Speaker 1: It's storm and rain. But the gift of life is
- 6:08Speaker 1: that we're giving the opportunity to live, do all of it,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and still show up fully in all of it. It
- 6:14Speaker 1: may not be perfection, but show up nonetheless. He's graced
- 6:18Speaker 1: us the ability to weather it all. So, yeah, that's
- 6:21Speaker 1: where I'm at right now. No, And I like how
- 6:24Speaker 1: you expounded on that because I think when we think
- 6:27Speaker 1: about the duality of life, we often see it from
- 6:32Speaker 1: the vantage point letting go of something while holding on
- 6:37Speaker 1: to something else, right, And I think simultaneously, we're usually
- 6:42Speaker 1: trying to do them together. And what I like to
- 6:48Speaker 1: do is I have to do one and then allow
- 6:51Speaker 1: the other to follow. Yeah, and that's not saying that
- 6:53Speaker 1: they both don't coexist and they both are not held
- 6:56Speaker 1: in the same space because on one end, I know
- 7:00Speaker 1: exactly what you're feeling because I'm feeling the same way.
- 7:03Speaker 1: There are so many opportunities right now, man, that are
- 7:06Speaker 1: coming my way. There are so many things that I'm
- 7:09Speaker 1: having to read through, navigate, plan, prepare, then also focus
- 7:17Speaker 1: on being present in all of it. So I understand
- 7:20Speaker 1: that challenge as well. But what I'm learning major is
- 7:25Speaker 1: plan over here and then step back into this and
- 7:28Speaker 1: say where can I let go? Because what we're trying
- 7:32Speaker 1: to do and what caused us to feel overwhelming, is
- 7:34Speaker 1: that is carrying off. It's carried all at the same time.
- 7:38Speaker 1: So as you are processing that now and I'm watching
- 7:40Speaker 1: your brain turn. What could you pick up now? And
- 7:44Speaker 1: then what could you lay down? I know that I'm
- 7:51Speaker 1: kind of I wrestled. Okay, So my journey as a
- 7:56Speaker 1: recording artist has been different than the way I planned
- 8:02Speaker 1: it out. God is hilarious. But I've experienced some amazing
- 8:06Speaker 1: highs and amazing wins in my journey, but the way
- 8:11Speaker 1: that things have unfolded are different. So I've had to
- 8:16Speaker 1: take on some responsibilities as an independent artist who's mama
- 8:21Speaker 1: named of major that doesn't always allow me to fully
- 8:28Speaker 1: trust the team or the people that are there in
- 8:35Speaker 1: place to help support me, to fully trust that they're
- 8:38Speaker 1: going to execute at the level of my expectations. Yeah,
- 8:44Speaker 1: my expectations and my reputation of excellent output. I operate
- 8:51Speaker 1: at high level quality only that's how I was raised.
- 8:56Speaker 1: If it's going to be done, it's got to be right,
- 8:58Speaker 1: you know. And so yeah, and so so I think
- 9:02Speaker 1: when you ask, like what can I let go up?
- 9:05Speaker 1: I think maybe just trusting that if I gave the
- 9:09Speaker 1: re If I gave the I may clear the ask
- 9:14Speaker 1: or the need or the want, they will be handled.
- 9:19Speaker 1: It's the scheduling and stuff is going to be handled
- 9:23Speaker 1: I've just been let down a lot of times. I
- 9:25Speaker 1: think it's PTSD in a way, it is who Oh listen, brother,
- 9:31Speaker 1: when I tell you I overstand, overstand, I overstand because
- 9:39Speaker 1: you and I have had very unique careers and the
- 9:42Speaker 1: same with me, like my career did not. And again,
- 9:45Speaker 1: for one, let me just say this, this wasn't even
- 9:47Speaker 1: my career that I had in mind. I wanted to
- 9:50Speaker 1: play ball, so to be a therapist, a doctor in healthcare,
- 9:54Speaker 1: and to be a podcast holes like I remember you
- 9:58Speaker 1: telling me, like, bro, you got to do a podcasts
- 10:00Speaker 1: and I'm like, no, I don't. So to think about
- 10:05Speaker 1: the process of really comprehending all of it, because even
- 10:11Speaker 1: that's a challenge because now I am I wouldn't say force,
- 10:17Speaker 1: but I'm pressed to look at things that I never
- 10:21Speaker 1: thought that I would be looking at and put trust
- 10:25Speaker 1: in people that I never thought that I would have
- 10:27Speaker 1: to trust because I can't do it all. I can't
- 10:31Speaker 1: read the emails, I can't respond, I can't book the
- 10:35Speaker 1: skip the flight. I can't, you know, try to understand
- 10:39Speaker 1: all the accommodations that I need while also focusing on
- 10:43Speaker 1: the art and the skill that we have been gifted
- 10:47Speaker 1: with and that's honestly what we ultimately want. We want
- 10:53Speaker 1: to be able to just be the talent in the
- 10:58Speaker 1: space or just be the created in this space, and
- 11:01Speaker 1: allow the logistical pieces to be handled and handled well
- 11:09Speaker 1: by whoever's there. I know that some of my circumstances
- 11:13Speaker 1: have been where I've had to literally just do it myself. Yep,
- 11:18Speaker 1: you know, so so yeah, I just I just want
- 11:24Speaker 1: to make sure I want to I want to put
- 11:28Speaker 1: more into practice. I've kind of done it a better
- 11:31Speaker 1: job of it this particular year. Like I no longer
- 11:36Speaker 1: had a label. I'm I'm extremely independent, and so I've
- 11:41Speaker 1: had to employ my own you know, contractors like kind
- 11:45Speaker 1: of you know, get my own folks on board and
- 11:49Speaker 1: make up a team just based on my own network,
- 11:52Speaker 1: and they're great at what they do. It's just again,
- 11:58Speaker 1: I know what it feels like to be let down
- 12:02Speaker 1: thus people that say I got it, man, that disappointment. Man,
- 12:05Speaker 1: it's hard, bro. It's hard to your process that and
- 12:10Speaker 1: articularly when you are trusting it, trusting them with your thing.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, because my thing and my that's what it
- 12:22Speaker 1: is you're you're in trusting it's legit, like handing your
- 12:28Speaker 1: baby over to be cared for a four by multiple hands.
- 12:33Speaker 1: That's not an easy thing. Like we probably grew up
- 12:38Speaker 1: if you grew up somewhat similar, Like we couldn't just
- 12:41Speaker 1: go over anybody's house. You know. I have friends where
- 12:45Speaker 1: their parents were like, yeah, you can go, you can go,
- 12:48Speaker 1: you can go, you go. But my mom barely let
- 12:51Speaker 1: us spend the night over anybody's house. Yeah, you know
- 12:54Speaker 1: if there was a cousin, yeah, for the most part,
- 12:57Speaker 1: but for the outside of that, you were just no.
- 13:03Speaker 1: So imagine that's how it is. Like you You've got
- 13:07Speaker 1: your project and you got your vision, and you want
- 13:10Speaker 1: to make certain that you work as a team, but
- 13:16Speaker 1: you have to trust the hands and the mindset the
- 13:21Speaker 1: individuals that are part of it. So that's a daily
- 13:25Speaker 1: work that I have to work on, you know. You know, I,
- 13:29Speaker 1: like I said, I love excellence, bro. I'm not a
- 13:31Speaker 1: perfectionist by any means. You just like excellence. Oh man,
- 13:36Speaker 1: I think you would really be done. Man. What I
- 13:39Speaker 1: hear you saying is I want it done well. That's
- 13:43Speaker 1: the work. I want it done well. And I don't
- 13:48Speaker 1: think anything is wrong with that. Man. I think for
- 13:50Speaker 1: brothers like us who have this spirit of excellence, because
- 13:55Speaker 1: if I can't do it well, I don't want to
- 13:57Speaker 1: do it at all. That's it. I'm not doing it.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And I can remember, man, several things that I've said
- 14:03Speaker 1: no to because I know that I couldn't do it
- 14:06Speaker 1: well because of my limited capacity. And I'm always interested, man,
- 14:12Speaker 1: because I've gone through I had about three managers, had
- 14:15Speaker 1: about three managers for publicists. The publishers I have now
- 14:20Speaker 1: is amazing. The team that I have now is amazing.
- 14:25Speaker 1: But I think going through the difficult time is what
- 14:29Speaker 1: I was called in and the challenging decision that you
- 14:34Speaker 1: have to make when it doesn't work out well, when
- 14:36Speaker 1: you have to have the conversation that something that you
- 14:39Speaker 1: had an expectation for that wasn't done well, that's always
- 14:43Speaker 1: difficult for me because I've worked with mostly females that
- 14:48Speaker 1: operate in that space. For me, so my PTSD from
- 14:52Speaker 1: a long relationship or previous relationship that I had that
- 14:58Speaker 1: when I shared how I truly felt, it wasn't received well.
- 15:01Speaker 1: So even when I have gone to speak to and say, yo, man,
- 15:04Speaker 1: can we talk about this, dude, I'm shaking because what
- 15:08Speaker 1: happened is and women don't realize this. It's so for
- 15:12Speaker 1: a man that like us, who can really express ourselves
- 15:15Speaker 1: just because I can express our intelligence that can articulate,
- 15:19Speaker 1: and it doesn't make it easy, No, because it shocks
- 15:22Speaker 1: them because a lot of times they may appreciate it,
- 15:26Speaker 1: but there because it's not as commons, it hits harder
- 15:31Speaker 1: and it's like, no, but I'm just I'm just helping
- 15:34Speaker 1: you understand exactly what it is. So it leads no
- 15:37Speaker 1: world for you to think anything else. Yes, but yet
- 15:40Speaker 1: and still exactly it's a wow, man, bro. I literally
- 15:45Speaker 1: remember having to have a conversation with my managing and
- 15:47Speaker 1: I remember taking myself through break breath breaths, like just yeah.
- 15:53Speaker 1: And then here's the other part. It was on zoom.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I was even conscious of how my body lay, which
- 16:00Speaker 1: was oning zoom. I did not want to sit up
- 16:03Speaker 1: because I'm not saying this with her, but I said,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I didn't want her to think that there was going
- 16:09Speaker 1: to be this level of aggression. So even that was
- 16:13Speaker 1: just you know what, I think, it's a it's a
- 16:16Speaker 1: byproduct of it's the gift and the challenge of being
- 16:23Speaker 1: impaths because that's what we are. We don't like to
- 16:27Speaker 1: see people hurt. No, we don't like to see people suffer,
- 16:31Speaker 1: and sometimes it's us. We don't even like to see
- 16:35Speaker 1: our enemies hurt and suffer, long past them realizing that
- 16:41Speaker 1: they need to do better by us, but like we
- 16:43Speaker 1: still have a compassion for I think I know why
- 16:46Speaker 1: they're doing this, and it's like, it's not our job
- 16:49Speaker 1: to always figure that, oubum, It's not our job to
- 16:52Speaker 1: always feel responsible to making certain that people can what
- 17:01Speaker 1: it is that we give. That's a God work, that's
- 17:06Speaker 1: a God responsibility. And while empathy seemingly feels like a
- 17:11Speaker 1: God trait, we have to be careful not to move
- 17:15Speaker 1: into the realm of God identity or God in work
- 17:20Speaker 1: or God responsibility. That's it God responsibility to know all
- 17:26Speaker 1: things before we arrive there, because then it snatches us
- 17:29Speaker 1: out of the faith space that God is more delighted
- 17:32Speaker 1: by and God rewards. Because honestly, we know our hearts
- 17:37Speaker 1: are always in the right place. It is probably like
- 17:42Speaker 1: zero point zero zero two percent of the time our
- 17:46Speaker 1: heart may not be in the right place. And I'm
- 17:48Speaker 1: saying that only just because you know we're human. But
- 17:51Speaker 1: for the most part, our intentions are not to make
- 17:55Speaker 1: a person feel less than a person feel unworthy. Feel
- 18:01Speaker 1: bad or whatever. But at the end of the day,
- 18:04Speaker 1: we know we're building something and you cannot have a fractured,
- 18:12Speaker 1: broken or an incompetent help to be a part of
- 18:19Speaker 1: the building because that part that they're assigned to is
- 18:22Speaker 1: not going to be And it's critical, Yes, it's critical
- 18:27Speaker 1: because when you're building something, we have to build it well.
- 18:32Speaker 1: It's the only way that is going to be respected, appreciated,
- 18:37Speaker 1: revered and honor. Because I take what I do, Bro
- 18:44Speaker 1: so seriously as I know that you do. I don't
- 18:46Speaker 1: just put people together and put people on the couch.
- 18:49Speaker 1: So like we are inundated with emails all the time,
- 18:53Speaker 1: like hey, can we get this person on your podcast?
- 18:56Speaker 1: Can And everything from working with CJ to working with
- 18:59Speaker 1: my pupps is like everything. I have to sit with it.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I have to pray about it, and I have to
- 19:05Speaker 1: identify within my spirit. But what do you do when
- 19:09Speaker 1: you've identified it within your spirit and you have to
- 19:13Speaker 1: go to that person and and tell them no, and
- 19:16Speaker 1: tell them no. I have gotten better with just being honest,
- 19:29Speaker 1: I know. I also while I have language, I also
- 19:33Speaker 1: have a big bowie voice, which we do. That's so crazy, Bro,
- 19:39Speaker 1: that's so crazy. So so you gotta be double so
- 19:42Speaker 1: like so sometimes like when I say something, it sounds
- 19:46Speaker 1: so profound, and all I'm saying is I liked I
- 19:49Speaker 1: like to I would love some limon pepper wings, but
- 19:55Speaker 1: I would love some lemon pepper wings. Okay, okay, well
- 19:57Speaker 1: just and I'm like, no, I'm just I'm just saying it.
- 20:01Speaker 1: So I think that for me, that one and this
- 20:07Speaker 1: has literally helped me legit Holy Spirit speak to me,
- 20:13Speaker 1: and I have to trust that whatever comes out comes
- 20:17Speaker 1: out is what needs to and it honestly has surprised me.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I know that sometimes I had approached situations that I'm like, oh,
- 20:26Speaker 1: this is not gonna, and this is gonna. I could
- 20:29Speaker 1: tell you right now, I can be honest, I'm already
- 20:31Speaker 1: ready to I'm not on the defense, but I'm prepared
- 20:35Speaker 1: because just in case. And it's not that I'm going
- 20:38Speaker 1: to have rebuttaled, but it's like, all right, I'm going
- 20:43Speaker 1: to have to be prepared to take how they feel
- 20:46Speaker 1: about how I feel. And that's not fair and it's
- 20:49Speaker 1: not fair, man, that's not fair. And that is some
- 20:53Speaker 1: type of learned behavior from a trauma that has had
- 20:58Speaker 1: to have existed in childhood, even if not childhood in
- 21:03Speaker 1: our in years past, that was significant enough to keep
- 21:08Speaker 1: showing up, because what it does is it debilitates us,
- 21:14Speaker 1: and it stops us from our advancement and our progress,
- 21:18Speaker 1: and so our advancement in progress is slower because we
- 21:22Speaker 1: are so concerned on making sure people that have not
- 21:27Speaker 1: done the work, that are not willing to do the work,
- 21:30Speaker 1: or that people that are just missing it. We just
- 21:33Speaker 1: want to make sure they're good. And I don't think
- 21:38Speaker 1: that God intended for us to move that way. I
- 21:41Speaker 1: think about the scripture to love your neighbor as yourself,
- 21:46Speaker 1: and the operative word that we often miss is as.
- 21:53Speaker 1: The measure is dependent on how you extend to yourself
- 21:59Speaker 1: that love because you model that which you expect. And
- 22:05Speaker 1: so if I give it to if I show someone
- 22:08Speaker 1: how to respect me, I provide them if I respect me,
- 22:13Speaker 1: I provide someone the example of how I want to
- 22:17Speaker 1: be treated, how I want to be respected. And I
- 22:19Speaker 1: think some people wanted it, want to ride with us
- 22:25Speaker 1: the way that we're intending, but because we overthink it, yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 1: we don't give them an opportunity to be like, Okay,
- 22:30Speaker 1: so yeah I did it wrong, so let me fix it,
- 22:33Speaker 1: or yeah, this isn't working. Yeah, man, it's so good.
- 22:36Speaker 4: Bro.
- 22:36Speaker 1: That bro, that is so good. I think for me
- 22:40Speaker 1: the biggest lesson that I had to learn that my
- 22:42Speaker 1: mentor told me this. He said, because of God is
- 22:46Speaker 1: expanding you. Because when you think about expansion, you think
- 22:50Speaker 1: about with and then you think about elevation, you think
- 22:54Speaker 1: about the vertical. So you have this massive sort of
- 22:59Speaker 1: with right of just experiences and then there's this vertical
- 23:05Speaker 1: part that I'm having these experience, I'm gaining this insight,
- 23:09Speaker 1: but the vertical and the elevation also places me at
- 23:12Speaker 1: a different level. So as much as I have with,
- 23:17Speaker 1: I also have height. And sometimes with the height, it's
- 23:21Speaker 1: leveling yourself back down to the reach. Because I never
- 23:26Speaker 1: want to be seen as if I'm talking over somebody,
- 23:30Speaker 1: I am talking at someone. I want to make sure
- 23:34Speaker 1: that I can talk to them. And he said, and
- 23:37Speaker 1: he's explaining and breaking all this down to me, he said,
- 23:39Speaker 1: with all of that, what I'm saying is you're going
- 23:42Speaker 1: to have to get accustomed to being the bad guy.
- 23:50Speaker 1: There's what if it's worth. That's when we yes exactly
- 23:55Speaker 1: what it is. He said, you both so all I
- 24:01Speaker 1: saw are and it's funny because as you hear, you
- 24:06Speaker 1: hear like an ambulance, do you hear the or the
- 24:08Speaker 1: police car? They're going to get the bag. The thing is,
- 24:12Speaker 1: it's like I think, because we have been in our
- 24:20Speaker 1: journeys the victims of bad people, we want to be
- 24:31Speaker 1: the rescuers of anyone else's experience there and feel the
- 24:38Speaker 1: pain that just so happens to be a part of life.
- 24:42Speaker 1: And at the end of the day, as much as
- 24:44Speaker 1: we're just feeling responsible to have to save them from that,
- 24:48Speaker 1: we have to realize that when we move that way,
- 24:52Speaker 1: we start to interfere with the work of God. Now,
- 24:55Speaker 1: sometimes they need to feel a rejection, and sometimes the
- 24:59Speaker 1: reject has to come from a healthy mind, so they know, actually,
- 25:04Speaker 1: this rejection actually must be good for me. Bro. That
- 25:09Speaker 1: was a relation that just came for me too. Yo.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Oh man, Oh my god, I love Jesus Christ. Oh
- 25:17Speaker 1: my god, dude, a healthy rejection because a lot of
- 25:22Speaker 1: times we're often rejected by fractured people, so we just
- 25:26Speaker 1: take it as, oh, this is just horrible, But what
- 25:28Speaker 1: if it comes from like that, You know, that healthy
- 25:31Speaker 1: rebuke that they talk about biblically. Biblically, and we used
- 25:35Speaker 1: to be afraid to hear rebuke. But sometimes a rebuke
- 25:38Speaker 1: of no, that's not okay is the best thing to
- 25:42Speaker 1: course correct you, to say, okay, well let me fix
- 25:44Speaker 1: it this way. And as we've grown up, we have mentors.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Yeah that can gitly rebew because now that's not you
- 25:50Speaker 1: don't do that. No, and it's okay. It's a it's
- 25:54Speaker 1: a healthy rejection. It's a healthy rebuke. Oh man, that's
- 25:59Speaker 1: a book title. Yahm healthy rejection, healthy rejection. Because I'm
- 26:06Speaker 1: still come. I'm pretty dat. We're gonna all be okay,
- 26:09Speaker 1: we can go right listen. I'm gonna tell you why
- 26:20Speaker 1: that is so good. When you think about a healthy rejection,
- 26:28Speaker 1: it's not that this wasn't for me. This happened to me.
- 26:32Speaker 1: They did this, did they did that? It's I needed then. Yeah,
- 26:39Speaker 1: And what I'm telling people is you don't need a
- 26:42Speaker 1: different outcome. You need a different outlook that that will
- 26:48Speaker 1: change the world, because because the rejection for them, it
- 26:54Speaker 1: is always predicated or what they had in mind is
- 26:58Speaker 1: predicated on what they wanted, which is the outcome that
- 27:00Speaker 1: they desire. Yeah, because this rejection now means I can't
- 27:04Speaker 1: have the outcome, but perhaps the rejection is it's all
- 27:08Speaker 1: about the outlook of it that you intake information that
- 27:13Speaker 1: can feed and inform how you can move in the
- 27:18Speaker 1: next moment, bro, so that you can be ready for
- 27:21Speaker 1: the outcome you desire. So I got a story. While
- 27:23Speaker 1: you sit there, think while you sit there, story I can't.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Some years back met this lady. She had just come
- 27:33Speaker 1: out of a divorce and she had I think she
- 27:37Speaker 1: was married to a leader pastor some port administer. So anyway,
- 27:41Speaker 1: I think it's probably like maybe a year right after
- 27:45Speaker 1: the divorce and if we had some exchange and I said, hey,
- 27:50Speaker 1: you know, we'd love to take you out. And this
- 27:51Speaker 1: is just you know, go hang out talk. Oh okay,
- 27:54Speaker 1: so you just the minister to her this. I know.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I didn't want to finish it too, man, keep talking
- 27:59Speaker 1: the biggest what this dude? No, I didn't want to
- 28:02Speaker 1: minish to it. Man. She she listened. She she told
- 28:05Speaker 1: me that she just come out of the divorce. But
- 28:07Speaker 1: she said, hey, I'm open to yo some counsel, some therapy.
- 28:14Speaker 1: This woman wanted to get some something to eat and
- 28:16Speaker 1: I wanted to eat. Dude, let me feel this telling
- 28:19Speaker 1: the story keep going. So we go to eat. It's
- 28:23Speaker 1: good and we're sitting there talking and I'm like, man,
- 28:27Speaker 1: you know, she's a dope woman, got things going on.
- 28:31Speaker 1: But I also can feel that the divorce was over,
- 28:36Speaker 1: but it wasn't over for her, right. I felt that.
- 28:40Speaker 1: So one night we're on the phone and I said,
- 28:43Speaker 1: can I say something to you to y'all just talking
- 28:45Speaker 1: at night? Y'all talking at night? Bro doesn't mind? Am
- 28:48Speaker 1: I focusing on the wrong things? Yes, you're focused on
- 28:51Speaker 1: the things. I don't get me where I'm supposed to
- 28:53Speaker 1: be paying attention because all I hear is this lady
- 28:55Speaker 1: gets into the voice that she's not over. She wants
- 28:57Speaker 1: you to shoot think no, no, And now she's talking
- 29:00Speaker 1: to you at night. Carry on what I'm saying, dough.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I met the lady after she's going to divorce. I
- 29:10Speaker 1: don't know that. So we had exchange and she tells me, hey,
- 29:14Speaker 1: I was married and I've been divorced over a year.
- 29:16Speaker 1: That's how he went. That's what I'm sakay. So everybody's
- 29:19Speaker 1: watching listen because I know I'm not the only one.
- 29:23Speaker 1: It sounded like she was grand. She was. It was
- 29:26Speaker 1: it was no, you know, no a divorce. She finds
- 29:30Speaker 1: doctor J and she wants to have some counsel. He says,
- 29:34Speaker 1: let's get some snacks, you know, and so she wants
- 29:37Speaker 1: to eat, and then she wants to start from that night.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Now he clarified, and that's important. It's important for you
- 29:43Speaker 1: to clarify. Next time you tell this story. Start with
- 29:46Speaker 1: she had been through a divorce and time you allow
- 29:51Speaker 1: if you allowed me to fit tell the story and
- 29:53Speaker 1: stop interrupting it. I just wanted you to be set
- 29:55Speaker 1: up for greatness. I didn't want anybody to turn this off.
- 29:59Speaker 1: This man is a good man. He's a noble man. Continue.
- 30:04Speaker 1: So we're on the phone at night because we both
- 30:10Speaker 1: worked during the day. She's in education and I'm in
- 30:14Speaker 1: my field of work, so nighttime is the only time
- 30:18Speaker 1: that we can talk clown. So anyway, we have this conversation,
- 30:23Speaker 1: and my spirit was uneasy. And again we've only been
- 30:30Speaker 1: talking about three or four weeks. So I said to her,
- 30:34Speaker 1: I don't know what we should continue on. I said,
- 30:37Speaker 1: I don't think we should continue on, and she was like,
- 30:41Speaker 1: oh why not. I said, I just and I said
- 30:43Speaker 1: it has nothing to do with the divorce. I said,
- 30:47Speaker 1: I'm just I send in my spirit because I was
- 30:50Speaker 1: it wasn't. I was feeling convicted, but I can feel
- 30:52Speaker 1: the spirit saying she's not ready. So going back to
- 30:57Speaker 1: the healthy rejection through this session. So she said, okay, Jay,
- 31:02Speaker 1: I can respect that. I said, I just feel it
- 31:04Speaker 1: heaven in my spirit. And I said, I'm not trying
- 31:06Speaker 1: to spiritualize this because we just vibing. I said, but
- 31:09Speaker 1: I don't think we should. So a year goes by
- 31:16Speaker 1: years month, she hits me up one day she's moved
- 31:20Speaker 1: on and not moved on in another relationship. But let
- 31:24Speaker 1: me clarify. She was living in the same city that
- 31:29Speaker 1: I was in, but she had moved to another city.
- 31:32Speaker 1: She hit me up one day and she said thank you.
- 31:36Speaker 1: And she says, I want to say thank you for
- 31:38Speaker 1: handling my heart and for guarding my heart, because she says,
- 31:44Speaker 1: most people in that moment, even though it had been
- 31:48Speaker 1: a year, I was still dealing with the remnants of it.
- 31:52Speaker 1: And she said, now, when you shared that with me,
- 31:55Speaker 1: it did feel like I was being rejected. But as
- 31:59Speaker 1: I be in the process, God also showed me that
- 32:02Speaker 1: my heart was still wounded and it would have been
- 32:05Speaker 1: unfair to inner something with you, knowing that I was
- 32:10Speaker 1: still hurting from what I had gone through, and we
- 32:13Speaker 1: had a really great exchange, and it really blessed me, man,
- 32:18Speaker 1: because sometimes you may have to make a different, difficult
- 32:23Speaker 1: decision for something that you want because I was, you know,
- 32:27Speaker 1: interested in wanting to get to know her. But this
- 32:29Speaker 1: is why it's so critical that the year after her divorce,
- 32:33Speaker 1: yet it's ample time exactly, Guys, he's in the clear. Yeah, yeah, Lord,
- 32:43Speaker 1: please help me with this. Brother. So the point that
- 32:45Speaker 1: you're making is that healthy reject healthy rejection is a
- 32:51Speaker 1: part of life, and we have to understand, especially as impaths,
- 32:57Speaker 1: as ones that move caring greatly for other people and
- 33:02Speaker 1: how they perceive us and how they move and excel
- 33:09Speaker 1: in life. We have to understand that if our intentions
- 33:14Speaker 1: are right and pure, that God will facilitate how they
- 33:26Speaker 1: accept what we give. Because if we continue to overthink
- 33:35Speaker 1: I got to say it this way, I gotta do
- 33:36Speaker 1: it this, I don't want to say all this. I
- 33:37Speaker 1: don't want to do that, we sabotage an opportunity of honesty,
- 33:43Speaker 1: which is the ultimate gift of truth fully doing its work,
- 33:50Speaker 1: because we're robbing them of the opportunity to get everything
- 33:53Speaker 1: they need that they may be informed how to move
- 33:56Speaker 1: next that is so important, is so valuable, and I
- 34:03Speaker 1: think we are just arrived at some help for us
- 34:08Speaker 1: for how we're gonna move in future dealings. Like it's okay, Yeah,
- 34:13Speaker 1: it's okay, because I know on the flip there has
- 34:19Speaker 1: been some rejection for myself that I have to internalize differently,
- 34:25Speaker 1: that outlook piece that you said where I have to
- 34:27Speaker 1: internalize different Oh, this doesn't mean that I wasn't qualified.
- 34:32Speaker 1: It just wasn't my stuff. That wasn't for me. No, Okay,
- 34:41Speaker 1: I think yeah, because oftentimes we jump into the seat
- 34:45Speaker 1: of if I didn't get it, that means I wasn't
- 34:48Speaker 1: good enough. But that is not at all what it means.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Talk to them, it does not have to mean that,
- 34:55Speaker 1: And most of the time it does not mean that,
- 34:57Speaker 1: especially to the champion mind. To the people that put
- 35:01Speaker 1: in work. Yes, you not getting something does not mean
- 35:05Speaker 1: you are not qualified. Yeah, it simply means that ain't yours.
- 35:12Speaker 1: He don't work anything that doesn't belong that don't belong
- 35:15Speaker 1: to you. Bro, I just went through, and I wouldn't
- 35:19Speaker 1: say went through, but I just got rejected for something
- 35:22Speaker 1: for a TV show that called me back several times.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Came out and well, yeah, came out here, came out
- 35:29Speaker 1: here to LA several times. Film the producers love me,
- 35:34Speaker 1: Love Me. The text message that called, however, the network
- 35:39Speaker 1: said different. And when the guy text me, I was
- 35:43Speaker 1: in a meeting and he said text me, He's like, hey,
- 35:46Speaker 1: doctor J you got a moment. I know. I didn't
- 35:47Speaker 1: get it. Like god, I felt it in my spirit.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I said, I didn't get it. So when I called
- 35:52Speaker 1: him back, I said hey. He say hey, man, and
- 35:56Speaker 1: he was like, I was like, man, cut out the pleasantries. Yeah, listen, listen, listen.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I've big credit brother football team for so I know
- 36:04Speaker 1: how just go. And I literally said to him, I
- 36:06Speaker 1: was like, bro, twenty years ago when I got to
- 36:08Speaker 1: bring my playbook, yeat that hurt. I was like, this
- 36:12Speaker 1: right here and how I can handle this. So when
- 36:14Speaker 1: he says heay, the network wanted to go another way,
- 36:18Speaker 1: but I know that you want to be good. And
- 36:21Speaker 1: I said to him, I said, brother, it just wasn't
- 36:23Speaker 1: for me. Now here's the other side of it. Had
- 36:27Speaker 1: they chosen me, I would have been I would have
- 36:31Speaker 1: to be going for ten weeks immediately, and all the
- 36:35Speaker 1: things that I have coming up, I would have missed
- 36:38Speaker 1: out on it, and when happened, wouldn't been able to
- 36:40Speaker 1: do it. And honestly, because we give, there is a
- 36:51Speaker 1: godly expectation of us as believers to only live in
- 36:57Speaker 1: the present moment. That's it, It's the only thing that's real.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Depression is an emotional commitment to something that's already happened
- 37:05Speaker 1: that you can't change. Anxiety is an emotional commitment to
- 37:09Speaker 1: something that hasn't happened and may never happen, that you
- 37:12Speaker 1: can't do nothing about. The right now Matthew six point
- 37:16Speaker 1: thirty four, take no thought for tomorrow, for tomorrow will
- 37:19Speaker 1: take has enough, It will take care of yourself, and
- 37:21Speaker 1: today has enough concern of its own. That hour of
- 37:25Speaker 1: responsibility is to be in the right now. What ends
- 37:28Speaker 1: up happening is we try to elongate the right now
- 37:31Speaker 1: beyond what the right now is. Right now included me
- 37:39Speaker 1: a moment ago drinking that, but it's no longer to
- 37:42Speaker 1: right now now is its sitting on the table. But
- 37:45Speaker 1: because we remember the action of the moment, we try
- 37:48Speaker 1: to commit ourselves to that moment. But we don't understand
- 37:53Speaker 1: that life is ever evolving and new things happen along
- 37:58Speaker 1: the way. So yes, it's stuff then, but you don't
- 38:02Speaker 1: have to stay stuck and the pain of a sting
- 38:08Speaker 1: that already happened. Make yourself available for the revelation that
- 38:15Speaker 1: comes along with stayed present with as the present unfolds
- 38:22Speaker 1: before you, because you start getting new information that wait
- 38:26Speaker 1: a minute, if I hadn't gotten that, I would have
- 38:29Speaker 1: had to cancel all of this other stuff that I
- 38:31Speaker 1: was working on. I wouldn't have been able to do this. Oh,
- 38:38Speaker 1: I see what you're doing. You're working all of this
- 38:42Speaker 1: together for my good, for my good. And if you
- 38:46Speaker 1: got the whole Dealer sessions, which obviously you haven't fully
- 38:50Speaker 1: listened because you would have gotten that one for the wind,
- 38:54Speaker 1: that's one of the tracks. Yeah, but uh, you get
- 38:59Speaker 1: my voice, You get my point. It's literally like you
- 39:04Speaker 1: start living beyond the moment of that upset. You start
- 39:09Speaker 1: getting information that downloads to you that this is actually
- 39:14Speaker 1: a good thing. It ain't bad, and it ain't bad,
- 39:17Speaker 1: and I needed it and I needed it. I needed
- 39:20Speaker 1: it because you cannot change future behaviors without the new information.
- 39:26Speaker 1: You gotta have the new information. That is what you
- 39:29Speaker 1: that is what variation by living by choosing yes to
- 39:35Speaker 1: be in the right now. Bro, there are so many
- 39:41Speaker 1: jewels in that statement alone, and I pray that the
- 39:47Speaker 1: person listening.
- 39:50Speaker 4: Lock in on, keep moving, get back in and get
- 39:59Speaker 4: back to it, get back up.
- 40:02Speaker 1: M hm. Yes, you can feel it, feel what you feel. Yes,
- 40:08Speaker 1: it is real, but you will never ever heal if
- 40:15Speaker 1: you don't just get back in it. Yes, that's that's
- 40:21Speaker 1: that's good to me. Man, Man, listen, this is blessing me. Bro.
- 40:25Speaker 1: This new project, the Whole Dealing Session, so oversion, said
- 40:29Speaker 1: doctor J. Tiwler. People say, Whole Dealer Session is out
- 40:34Speaker 1: now please go listen to this man, woman, boy or girl. Yeah,
- 40:39Speaker 1: I think we all need more hope in this world
- 40:44Speaker 1: because hope deferred makes the heart sick. Yeah, that's what
- 40:48Speaker 1: the scripture says, hope deferred makes the heart sick. We
- 40:53Speaker 1: were listening and I started listening when you send over,
- 40:56Speaker 1: and I'm listening to the cadence of your voice, which
- 40:59Speaker 1: I loved, the cadence of how you are allowing the
- 41:02Speaker 1: words to flow. They don't feel forced, because I've listened
- 41:05Speaker 1: to a few albums where it's like spoken word and
- 41:09Speaker 1: it's just kind of feel like to get this, get this.
- 41:12Speaker 1: You're more speaking from receive this. Yeah, yes, that's it.
- 41:20Speaker 1: It's not get it, it's foresee and you cannot receive
- 41:24Speaker 1: with closed hands. So not only do you have to
- 41:27Speaker 1: open your ears for this new project, you got to
- 41:29Speaker 1: open your heart, open your mind, and then also open
- 41:34Speaker 1: your level of consciousness because sometimes we are operating from
- 41:40Speaker 1: this space that no longer serve us and we're unaware
- 41:45Speaker 1: about it. So when you think about this new project,
- 41:48Speaker 1: The Hope Builder Sessions, what places you had to go
- 41:53Speaker 1: to and retrieve hope to push this out? The whole
- 42:00Speaker 1: Billit Sessions is a motivational mixtape of spoken word and
- 42:05Speaker 1: music intended to amplify hope and love, life and culture.
- 42:16Speaker 1: I live this. I have benefited from these principles in
- 42:26Speaker 1: real life over the past forty years of living, but
- 42:32Speaker 1: more specifically as I received an unction by way of
- 42:38Speaker 1: and I actually talk about it at the end of
- 42:42Speaker 1: the project. The text message that I received from our
- 42:47Speaker 1: good brother Chadwick Boseman on April fourth, twenty twenty, where
- 42:52Speaker 1: he dared us to pray. He requested that we pray
- 42:57Speaker 1: collectively for the hope of the world world. He sent
- 43:01Speaker 1: it to a few of us, and he said, because
- 43:05Speaker 1: the pandemic has basically forced many of us to feel
- 43:12Speaker 1: as though we are in a sea of hopelessness. And
- 43:17Speaker 1: he said, the plague was asked why it had killed
- 43:20Speaker 1: so many. The plague responded, I only kill it. The
- 43:25Speaker 1: thousands that died died from the fear of me. Wow,
- 43:31Speaker 1: it's hope. Hope responds to fear. Because what hope does
- 43:39Speaker 1: is it not only commits to a better way and
- 43:45Speaker 1: to the promise of our maker, but it also provides
- 43:51Speaker 1: evidence that if I got through the last thing, I
- 43:56Speaker 1: can get through this one too. That's it. Brother. Every
- 44:00Speaker 1: storm runs out of rain. We can't name one that didn't.
- 44:07Speaker 1: That's why we talk about it. We talk about Katrina.
- 44:10Speaker 1: As devastating as Hurricane Katrina was, that was a storm
- 44:14Speaker 1: that still ran out of Rein you go back to
- 44:17Speaker 1: New Orleans, the party started back up because the storm
- 44:23Speaker 1: ran out of rain. And that's life. And that duality
- 44:28Speaker 1: that we talked about at the beginning, Rain, sunshine, thunder breeze,
- 44:37Speaker 1: it's all of it. And so these are literal collections
- 44:42Speaker 1: of understanding that I've had along the way. You remember
- 44:45Speaker 1: my major hope motivations and talks that you've encouraged me with,
- 44:51Speaker 1: and so I was just like, this is a compilation
- 44:55Speaker 1: of some experiences for the right now. It includes music,
- 45:00Speaker 1: you know, new songs and remakes the for the Wind
- 45:03Speaker 1: song that I Pray for You David Banners, you know,
- 45:06Speaker 1: featured on on the I Pray for You drum major remix,
- 45:09Speaker 1: and and these spoken words like get back, get back
- 45:12Speaker 1: in it. That's our favorite one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 45:15Speaker 1: I love el. Yeah yeah, I'm proud of you, which
- 45:19Speaker 1: I am very proud of you. I really really am.
- 45:22Speaker 1: I really am. I'm very two black men. I know,
- 45:25Speaker 1: I know you are, and I appreciate that. The the
- 45:30Speaker 1: three Stays, that's a big one where it basically says
- 45:35Speaker 1: the three stays of life are stay excellent, stay consistent,
- 45:42Speaker 1: and stay ready. Yep, because when opportunity knocks, opportunities not
- 45:48Speaker 1: just looking around for you and waiting around for you
- 45:50Speaker 1: to get your stuff together. It's there to embrace the
- 45:53Speaker 1: person ready to go. So yeah, we were the whole
- 45:55Speaker 1: dealer sessions Get That No Regrets exactly to produce my
- 46:00Speaker 1: by my brother Josiah Bell. You know, we're coming out
- 46:04Speaker 1: of suicide Awareness Month and I want to get to
- 46:08Speaker 1: the heart of as many people as I can to
- 46:12Speaker 1: let them know that it ain't over. Yeah, if there's breath,
- 46:19Speaker 1: there's more. Brother, my best friends calling me now, Joe,
- 46:27Speaker 1: and I was, yeah, oh that's cool, that's cool. That
- 46:34Speaker 1: is a best friend. When you interrupt the podcast to
- 46:36Speaker 1: answer good guy. Yeah yeah, and yo, as the world
- 46:43Speaker 1: is watching what he's navigating through, God has allowed me
- 46:48Speaker 1: to walk with him to keep his whole. Uh, because
- 46:52Speaker 1: you a hope dealer, oh dealer on three one two three,
- 46:57Speaker 1: And this is that's why I answer the phone, because
- 47:00Speaker 1: I wanted him to experience your energy. Yeah, and what
- 47:04Speaker 1: God intended for me to even affirm, how is God?
- 47:09Speaker 1: God be good, Life be lifing, but God be goding.
- 47:13Speaker 1: And we have to make room for God to God.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Because when I tell you, when God God's man, it's
- 47:19Speaker 1: a good thing. It's a great thing. It slaps down
- 47:24Speaker 1: every accuser, it slaps down every offender, it slaps down
- 47:29Speaker 1: every hater. It handles it all and prepares a taping
- 47:35Speaker 1: in front of all of that. Man, thank you, yes, sir,
- 47:40Speaker 1: for what you did for help. And I say that,
- 47:43Speaker 1: bro from the bottom of my heart. And as we're closing,
- 47:47Speaker 1: it is just and you know, we talked about this
- 47:49Speaker 1: last time, but I think it's a great time to
- 47:52Speaker 1: to regurgitate what we shared and just to see what
- 47:56Speaker 1: God is doing in your life, man, to see the
- 47:59Speaker 1: problems of God to continue to Uh, let's just use
- 48:02Speaker 1: the word recap. Recap, Yeah, regurgitate because we said it.
- 48:09Speaker 1: H yeah, y'all see what I gotta do this. We
- 48:15Speaker 1: can't even have a serious look. I'm just offering more outlook,
- 48:18Speaker 1: it's all perspective recap. Yeah. It is a blessing to
- 48:30Speaker 1: see man, that because this project wasn't even out the
- 48:35Speaker 1: last time that we find no, No, I was working
- 48:37Speaker 1: on it. It's it's music that I wanted to go
- 48:40Speaker 1: on other projects. It's a mixtape. I was just like, yo,
- 48:43Speaker 1: I have an idea. I'm getting this out to the world,
- 48:46Speaker 1: you know, because you can't put everything when you have
- 48:48Speaker 1: a label, you can't put every song or whatever out.
- 48:52Speaker 1: And God was like, well, you don't have a laby,
- 48:55Speaker 1: Now let me show you what can be done. First perspective.
- 49:01Speaker 1: Because I kept moving, I was able to get the
- 49:04Speaker 1: new information to help me see, Oh, that wasn't that bad, no,
- 49:10Speaker 1: And you did it, yes, sir. And as we're closing
- 49:13Speaker 1: out September, as you know, September suicide prevention, money. And
- 49:18Speaker 1: what I want to share to you is the same
- 49:20Speaker 1: thing that I shared with my brother often is we're
- 49:23Speaker 1: made for this. We often don't feel that we're made
- 49:28Speaker 1: for the life that God has given us because what
- 49:31Speaker 1: we've experienced in this life that we have been blessed
- 49:34Speaker 1: to live. And me personally, I know what it's like
- 49:40Speaker 1: to live without hope. I know what it's like to
- 49:43Speaker 1: be in a place of hopelessness and to not feel
- 49:48Speaker 1: as if tomorrow will come. But I have the thought
- 49:53Speaker 1: that I didn't want to see tomorrow. Forget that it's
- 49:57Speaker 1: a coming. I didn't want to see it. And what
- 50:00Speaker 1: I'm encouraging you, I don't know where you are in
- 50:02Speaker 1: this season. I don't know what you're going through. I
- 50:05Speaker 1: don't know what you're experiencing. Major said something that was
- 50:08Speaker 1: so power. We often allow depression to take place in
- 50:15Speaker 1: our life for something that has already happened. Then he said,
- 50:19Speaker 1: we'll commit to anxiety for something that hasn't happened, and
- 50:24Speaker 1: I will encourage you that I cannot change what has happened.
- 50:28Speaker 1: We don't know what will. But you have the present
- 50:31Speaker 1: moment and if you can receive the hope in this
- 50:36Speaker 1: moment that my brother and I are sharing with you,
- 50:40Speaker 1: I am hoping that you would give yourself another opportunity
- 50:44Speaker 1: to keep going. We need you, brother, we need you, sister,
- 50:51Speaker 1: We need what God has placed in you. I'm telling
- 50:56Speaker 1: you you're not better off dead. That's the thought. Because
- 51:01Speaker 1: I thought that, and from that thought, I made two
- 51:05Speaker 1: attempts because I felt my family would be better off,
- 51:11Speaker 1: the world would be better off, but not knowing that
- 51:14Speaker 1: God said the world would be better because you stayed,
- 51:19Speaker 1: the world would be better because you chose to live.
- 51:22Speaker 1: Your family would be better because you made a decision
- 51:25Speaker 1: to keep moving. Because Major said this, the rain has
- 51:30Speaker 1: to end. And I know most of us that are
- 51:34Speaker 1: struggling with suicidal thoughts. We think that the pain won't
- 51:38Speaker 1: ever end, and we think ending our life will cause
- 51:42Speaker 1: the pain to end. But that is the beginning of
- 51:45Speaker 1: pain that you don't even know what those then taking
- 51:51Speaker 1: your pain to give it to the ones who care,
- 51:54Speaker 1: and there's always someone who does. That's so good. I
- 52:00Speaker 1: think a lot of people will be blessed by this episode,
- 52:03Speaker 1: So I'm thanking God in advance for it being so
- 52:09Speaker 1: Hope ain't never canceled. Jesus' name a man. Listen again.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Thank you guys for tuning in. This was a powerful, powerful,
- 52:20Speaker 1: powerful episode with my brother and friend. That's major, the
- 52:25Speaker 1: Hope Dealer himself new project, The Hope Dealer Session. Please
- 52:29Speaker 1: go grab it, please go support it. Listen to it.
- 52:33Speaker 1: Let it affirm you, let it builds you up. Let
- 52:36Speaker 1: it give you hope. Major talk to the good people.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Close es out, brother, don't give up. As the good
- 52:43Speaker 1: Reverend Jesse Jackson said almost every space he stepped, man,
- 52:51Speaker 1: keep hope alive, Keep hope alive, Keep hope alive. That's
- 52:55Speaker 1: not some fluffy cliche. Is a powerful moves to lock
- 53:02Speaker 1: in on that hope. Hope. It's a powerful thing, and
- 53:08Speaker 1: hope ain't ever canceled. Hope Dealer on three Jay one
- 53:12Speaker 1: two three Hope and remember heally is a journey and
- 53:19Speaker 1: wholeness is the destination. Until next time, take care of yourself,
